Harry Styles 'got completely NAKED'

The podcast episode begins with casual banter among hosts about food preferences, including seeking out viral pizza spots and indulging in comfort foods like bacon sandwiches. They reflect on eating in bed and later discuss the importance of reserving the bed solely for sleep and intimacy to enhance restfulness, acknowledging their own habits of working or eating there. A humorous story follows about a train journey where a trolley attendant's unsolicited, vivid description of a medical issue ruins the host's appetite while choosing a sandwich. The conversation then transitions to professional matters, focusing on an interview with Harry Styles. The host admits nervousness about interviewing the global star for the first time but opts for a straightforward, friendly approach rather than risky jokes, which proves successful. The episode wraps up by teasing the full interview, highlighting the excitement of engaging with a major celebrity in a relaxed, authentic manner.

[MUSIC PLAYING] This is a global player, original podcast. All right, just another normal day in the madhouse. We record in, guys. Yeah, I think the-- Press record, press record. Chris is hungry, and you are very motivated by food as you always say, Chris. What is on the menu today? I don't know, actually. I found this place-- if I do know, I found a place that does slices of pizza out of sort of a hatch. Oh, fantastic. Down the road. I don't know about that. Yeah, I know, it looks really good. I've gone there. It's, at the time of recording, 18 minutes plus 11 on a Tuesday morning. So Chris doesn't have breakfast in the studio. I famously wait for lunch, don't you? I have a bigger lunch. But my thing is, with the pizza thing, as well, is I find things on TikTok. And actually, that would be so helpful if you're listening to this, and you find these little gems of places, especially if they're in London. Because I can access them for here. But I'm willing to travel when I went to New York. Do you remember I traveled all over the place to try slices of pizza? It's not just pizza. But I'm saying I love these sort of viral places. I once coined them in the action on a corner of Soho. And it was-- I caught him red-handed, and he was shamed, he gave me a side eye. His hands were dirty. There was a sandwich place that had gone viral. And I was on the corner of a street in Soho. And Sean went past, was like, what are you doing? And he was just like eating the sandwiches if it was illegal. I love botting. He's a tech man. Yeah, I could, honestly, I could live off sandwiches. Me too, actually. My default meal would just be a bacon sandwich, isn't it? Would it, though? Yes, it was genuinely. OK, answer me this question. It was. When you went on the jungle, and you ordered Angel Delight, claiming it was your favourite pudding, did you do it because you knew it would be like, it was like, man, other people, Angel Delight? No, because it was my favourite side. Angel Delight was actually-- I had Pro and Cocktail starter, best starter ever, had that. Yeah, yeah. I actually agree, that's amazing. It's always about getting it everywhere I go. Even if I don't fancy it, OK. But you could have anything. But then I had Kombi-Fash from a main. Yeah, very unbranded. I had Angel-- excuse me, sorry, it's anything you want to say there. Angel Delight and Jelly. Now, generally, if I was on camera-- How annoying was it being in that situation where you have another proper meal when you're thinking, God, I could murder a lobster at a fillet steak. No, actually, I need to be. I do like tiramisu. I do like tiramisu, that was my favourite. And I'll probably would have that. However, you can't just beat a bacon butty. Do you know what I love? The favourite ever sandwich is a derrily slice, right? There is derrily cheese slice with ham and loads of butter on white bread. That's the best butty bar down. He was the only person to have ever taken part in that show where the bush-tucker trial was. There's something that he made with me. [LAUGHTER] I'm not bombshells. As he's-- As he's-- She did say it was actually the cheapest ever final meal he doesn't look first. Cavies will break this after the show show podcast. You have mutual friendship. Harry's not doing matter. And the story involves a blue parrot. He went, you're getting deafer. He's going deafer. Which is what a wife would say to her husband. [LAUGHTER] Hello, and welcome to Capital Breakfast. After the show show, I'm John and Norf. He's Chris Stark and that's Sean Welby. Yeah, it's been another week speaking of food. I've been eating a lot of food in bed at the moment. I've been talking about, haven't we? I don't know. You know, when we sound a bit senile sometimes in this podcast because we might have already spoke about this, but being Chris were worried about staging an intervention at one point. I'm being serious. I actually thought, are you OK? Because sometimes when you like comfort eat, especially in bed, it is a cry for help. Here's a sign. And then I got Welby last week and I was like, no, you're right. I need to clean your diary. Yeah, I did. And she was like, you need to clean your diary and start saying no to stuff. And then I met my mate Lee, you know, LJ. Who do you think is my friendship with Lee Juggernaut, who is also a presenter on Capitol? And was formerly on Channel 4's, a place like this one? Are you still seeing him on TV quite, right? Yeah, he's on all the time. We went for some breakfast on Sunday, and he's at the same thing. You need to clear your diary as well. Breakfast on Sunday, was it? Yeah, what? What? Anyway, so what are you saying, I think? But he was like, eat it up. I love Lee. I love this guy. He's super talented, bloke. But he said, but it's just one of Jordan's friends that appears out of nowhere. And because I've known Jordan for years, I'm like, have you got to know the guy from a place in the sun? I know what you mean. Where's he spawned from? He's one of me suddenly, like back in the day, the tag that other mate on Facebook, you know, wait a minute, who are these friends? Yeah. I don't know these friends. How did you end up in that, sir? We've never crossed hairs. We've never crossed paths, really. We're actually very good friends. No, I look like we look after his dog and stuff and probably but he did all start with me DM and him saying, "Love you on a place in the sun." Jordan, you didn't ask for someone else. He does this. You look after Lulu's dog as well, don't you? Because he was formerly Lulu's manager. That's how it links in. So you look after Lee came round once of his dog and Lulu's dog. And Lulu's dog. Yeah. That's amazing. Yeah, some story. Weirdly. Yeah. I've got Lulu's number. We ought to one day voice note about that. Ask her after the dog. How did you acquire that? Because there's another random story, but I did a podcast, but I did it in her house. That was amazing. Was the dog there? Or a Jordan's? No dog. Yeah, it's probably at mine. Lee jogging off was talking for walkies around to Jordan. Anyway. But yeah, I've not eaten as much. I did have crackers in bed yesterday and great taste when ever. I think that's what you've got to start. I think I'll stop eating in bed. Yeah. And I was reading something the other day. I need to talk to you both about it. Because I actually think this could be a game changer for us. And it was talking about you've got to make the bed a sanctuary almost. The sanctity of sleep. So what you've got to do is only use your bed for sleeping and making love. And then you will not, what you'll do is you're listening to it. Please don't ever say I'm making love. It's no, this is an important lesson. You also did a hand gesture that went with it. It was like, I don't know. You can say, chagging. I'm trying to make it a nice sentence. Yeah, I'm trying to give you some life advice here, some wisdom. The bed needs to be treated as just that for its limited uses. Because then your brain learns to relax in it or associates it with a safe pleasurable space. I mean it all the time at the moment. I literally set up office in there. You're totally right. I'm bringing stress to your bed. Yeah. And that's not its function. You spot on. And then you'll find you'll be wanting to sleep elsewhere. You won't be able to turn off at night because your brain's wide. That's actually good advice. Don't bring a work device anywhere near. Yes, yes. I had Sky News on. I was propped up. I'd be pillar there. I'd be laped up. I'd be phone on loudspeaker. I mean, up pad. That's a sofa job. Yeah. Or kitchen table. Yeah. This is it. Make yourself a bit uncomfortable. That's how to define it. Yeah. Let's only use the bed for bed jobs. And then the sofa or a different chair. You're right, even if it's a bit uncomfortable. Do that for your work. I do add me to a kitchen table because I don't want to be too comfortable. Honestly, Chris has got a point. And then if I have a nap, nap is on the sofa because I don't want to tuck myself in bed, that's too comfortable. I used to always nap on the set. Yeah, you've got to. It's the best way. Yeah. Or as you get into a deep sleep, you get too comfortable. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Okay. That's good advice. So just, no, I'm not going to have any more food in bed anymore. No, that's also just as messy. Well, no. Well, in bed, you'll have to do that. That's a podcast. You made no sound. Yeah, no. Do it in a sound. Yeah, what noise would you make? Sense yourself with a sound. All right. You can only make love and sleep in your bed. Yeah. Are you allowed to? Oh, Christ. No, you're not actually. That wasn't a sound effect. The sense yourself. That was. It made it more graphic if anything. It's a bit like when we'd be out. Come inside on that store. Can we please talk about that? And that's a breather carpenter. To make it less rude, we've bleeped out. Come inside. Well, the whole song is, we all know what you're talking about. We all know what you're talking about. Yeah. I'll let you in of something, something. Back door. Yeah. But. But my. I just, I just think by censoring the word come inside, which is so like innocent. Just come in. Just like a house. Would you like a shake hands with a one-eyed milkman in bed? Right. No. Right. I don't know where I stand on that. Shower. Yeah. Please keep everything clean. God no. He didn't mess away from everything. He'd get cramped. Standing up that long. No. All right. We're moving on from trifles in bed to Sean's egg and crescorey. I don't even know how this has ended up as like a little note because I sometimes fling some words into the thing. Something must have been reminded me of like when you're, I think I invite unsolicited conversations into my life. Chris tells me I've quite a lot of the time going, Sean, I mean, like today, for example, he literally looked to me and went, "Sean, if you and Gary Barlow-- [LAUGHTER] And a rank, oh, he went to the start. If you start having a four to five minute chat, he's like, we'll never get out of it. And he was right, because of the late. He was right. It wasn't your fault. It was foggass. But I do struggle sometimes with that kind of boundary. You struggle to say bye. I do, Chris, it's a really-- All girls do. All girls do. But your wife's to say-- I've seen her on the ring door bar. I've told you about this before. I've seen her on the ring doorbell where someone's come over. And they're talking to her at the-- she won't let them go, like she did. I'm like, how can you not find a natural-- She is a settler. I'm like that. Half an hour to leave my house when he's all came over, he lusts his rag, but anyway, go on. So you're the same. I am exactly the same. And I-- do you know what it is? Something about my face invites just chat from strangers. And something must have reminded me about this, where I was once on a train, and I was really thirsty, because I'd ran to get on it. And it was like one of those LNDR big trains. And I see the guy with the trolley. And I'm thinking, great. So I'm desperately wanting to buy a drink of him. And he says to me, he's like, sorry. Can't order any drinks until we're moving. [LAUGHTER] Oh, it's dead first, didn't it? So I was like, right, so I stood there. And we're both making now awkward eye contact. And I'm not going to go back to my seat. I'm like, miles down the carriage. So I'm studying the best of you all. And it starts moving. I go, right, can I now buy a drink? So I pick up like a Coke Zero and go to buy it with my card. And he goes, sorry, minimum four, power spend, if using cards. [LAUGHTER] So I'm like, oh my god, I'm so thirsty. I'm like, run, you know when you're absolutely gasping. So I'm like, OK, fine. So I'm not trying to buy a sandwich now to make it up to the four pounds. So I'm looking the thing, going to get a sandwich. And as I'm trying to pick, he goes, very right time of it I have. And I was like, oh, have you? He's like, yeah, I should have really been standing for this long to be honest. I was like, shouldn't you? No, but if you siss on me back, I was like, I'm like this. And as I'm picking, my hand is hovering over an egg and crest sandwich, right? And he goes, fingers with these siss, right? Doctors had to pop 'em. He said, and when he did, it squirted out like custard. And as he says that, I literally gagged a bit and my mouth's up into like an egg-y sandwich. I was like, why is he telling me that? Wait, this people do this, too. They pour the heart out in another life. You could be a great counsellor or therapist. Someone said to me, yesterday, you would make a good therapist. I was like, I wouldn't, would I? I don't want to be talking out of them. They'd be like, can we wrap this? So you and I were, where you go to a therapist and listen to them. (laughing) I don't know where it's there, it fits you. (laughing) And then come out and tell everyone the gods. Hey you, I love when you come in and go, guys, I've got gush and Jimmy's like, can we just do this link and get these two songs on? And then we're like, please come here, Sean's gush now. People do all the shit out of you, all for a leg of crest putty. Yeah, but you and Overshera, you and Overshera. I do come in with some nuggets occasionally for us, don't I? No, you've got good intel. You're not an Overshera, though. You're like an international man of mystery. There's times where you don't fully know. You'll just come out with something like, oh, and then, yeah, pop to Prague and backstage with Robbie Williams and got the train home. And you sort of gloss over the thing that's like awesome. And you go, wait a minute, what? What did you do this weekend? It was pretty cool. Right, well, that was a great way to start the episode. Next, we're going to tell you what happens when we met the biggest pop star in the world right now. (upbeat music) All right, it's a couple of breakfasts after the show show. It's Jordan, Chris and Sean. And this next part of the part we need to talk about, Harry Styles. Yes. Harry, Harry Styles. Where'd you want to start? Do we start with the accent? We'll do a start with the behind the BTS. Where'd you start? The BTS. We got told last minute that it was going to be Harry Styles on the Zoom, 'cause he was in LA. And we'll be honest, there's not many people. We'd be like, well, we're not doing a Zoom interview 'cause we're very much, we got to get him in the studio, haven't we, or we go out to them and do it, but 'cause it was Harry Styles. And you guys sorted out for me to interview him 'cause I've always wanted to interview him. He's on my list. It was on your bucket list. You'd even claimed at the start the year that Harry Obama, he was the other one. You've done a lot of them, he did take a lot of-- Taylor Swift was on the list. De Niro used to be, but that's been done. Yeah, you said a few names, and so we were like, well, it's a no-brainer. And it was one of those where it just worked perfectly that you could go back into work and do this Zoom, 'cause we're in LA time. An amazing for you. Really fun. Yeah, and it's one of them where, because so now I said this, I think because the Taylor Swift radio promo went really well for her. So basically, Taylor Swift spoke to us on other radio stations, but the pick up she got from it was really good. So like I was and every other station like put loads of clips out on our social media and then got picked up everywhere else. I think Harry Styles fought right. I'll maybe do the same and he did. And all the other radio stations were scrambling out to get clips out and stuff, weren't they? So we all interviewed him at the same time, but yeah, but what I like about what we did is because this was a bit of a treat for you. I think this is what felt really different about it. And it was fun for Sean and I to kind of just leave you to it, to have this, have your first time with Harry, I guess, 'cause you've not interviewed him at all. I've not interviewed him. One thing I'm fine now is as I'm doing the show more and more, like we interviewed take that today after the show. And they were like, have we not met before? And I'm like, no, there's not many. I have now since I've been here, but because, I suppose 'cause the show you were on before wouldn't have necessarily had loads of guests, would it? Didn't have loads of guests and there was like rules that I didn't necessarily agree with where they had to come in and like they had to come in and play a game and we used to lose out on guests for that. So let's get him in for a chat, which I'm very much for on this show. And I'm like, look, if they don't want to play silly game, if it's a big guest, let's get him in for a chat, that could be fun. So yeah, we all interviewed him and I was bit nervous about this 'cause I didn't know how to do it and I thought, do you know what, 'cause he doesn't know me. I was always-- - You weren't nervous, weren't you? And I always think, why does he get nervous? So genuinely, I did, 'cause it was real. I could see that you were trying to really prep for it. And I thought, especially 'cause he wasn't face to face as such. I thought, oh, you really have got quite nervous about it, but I think you always worry that you won't have a rapport with someone and yet you always do. - Oh, thank you. I think we played it pretty simple 'cause I've not met him before and I didn't want to go it like one of the questions were and I bottled it. - Wow. - One of the questions, Harry Styles, I wanted to cap it all back first. And for those of you that don't know, yeah, would you like to explain who you are? - Yeah. - Now who you are? Which would have been greater for an audience if I thought this might get him on the back for a bit. - It's always the gap, this is the gamble of an interview, especially when you've not met someone. It either goes brilliantly breaks the ice and you start laughing, or it's a lead balloon and then ruins the rest of the chat. - Yeah. - So sometimes you're right to just not take a chance. - But I did see Scott and Greg got some really good bits from him, but that's because they've met him before and so they could go back to bits 'cause I'd never met him. So, I actually was really happy about it when-- - It was a great time. - And the fans seem to love it as well, so I thought, let's just keep it simple. I said about the new album and stuff. And then in the end, don't ask, but we got chatted about oval team 'cause I used to have been teching the piss out of me saying that I'm all drinking oval team. So if we can get actual Harry Styles. - Endorse oval team, then it's cool again. - I love little missions like that, by the way. I love where we have our thing that we once, like the biggest name in the world, doing something fun and silly that we do on the show. What I would say with this, and this is why it's so cool we got this podcast, is you can just hear the whole chat now, like on the radio we have to play out little clips and things like that. - Play the whole chat. - Just enjoy this chat, it's brilliant. Thank you. - Harry Styles, welcome to Capital Breakfast. It's been a quiet week for you, all right? - I'm doing good, yeah, I'm good, thanks. I'm, yeah, been all right. - That's good, that's good. Now, many fans are listening right now. So before we like crack on and start asking all the questions about the album and the tour, they're all listening intently. Is there anything you'd just like to say to them quickly 'cause they'll go mad at me if I don't ask? - Yeah, I think just like, I feel so grateful the way the kind of like energy they've brought to, you know, putting music out, I think when you take a step away from everything, like I never assume that there's gonna be people who kind of remain interested in stuff. You know, it's like the world most very fast and I think the in kind of coming back and even announcing the album and stuff, I've felt kind of like showered with like love from them. So just to thank you for that and appreciate the patience and the space that they kind of, you know, let me have and stuff. - 'Cause it's been a massive reaction. You've taken a break after three years off. How was that, how was three years of being off and doing nothing? - Amazing. - Yeah, you look good for it, Paul. You're not really good for it. - Thanks. - And we've all heard the new single "Appature" and is it true? It's inspired by your time in Ibiza, the best place ever. - I think it was a few things. I think I went, I was kind of, I did a lot of traveling just for fun, which was really nice to kind of, I think because I'd been touring a lot for a lot of my life, I think I'd got really used to missing a lot of things with friends and stuff, you know, whether it was like invites and stuff, I think I'd got really used to saying now to things because I just wasn't able to go to a lot of things. And I think last year, I just had a real start of the year where I was like, I'm gonna say yes to everything that's here. And if my friend invites me somewhere and it sounds at all fun, then I'm just gonna say yes and do that until that stops being a good idea. And it's just kind of like been so positive for me to just go do that and I think being with people and like being on the other side of the audience experience then I'm used to being on, has been the most important thing for me. It's been just like a massive reminder of how special it is to be in a crowd, experiencing live music, be in like a dark pit with people dancing. Like it's been really like really beautiful reminder for me that you know, at shows, whether I'm on stage or off the stage, we're all here for the same thing. - You were spotted in like Berlin and Italy, but did you get any time to go back home to the North, see the family and stuff like that? - I did, yeah, I was actually just there and I went back for Christmas, which was really nice. It's so funny, it's like everything that used to feel so huge to you even like gates and stuff that you go back to as an adult in your life was quite small actually. - And do you know it's as well that when you've gone back home and then you come back, is the accent like that? - Yeah, I think so, I think so, yeah, it's like, it's so funny, it's, I've never really, I don't really think about it, obviously, and then sometimes I'll hear like a video of me speaking when I was like 15 or something, you know? It's 10, 15, proper Northern, I do it. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - People say to me all the time like, "Your voice has totally changed." So, new album, let's get straight in, no kissing, kiss all the time, disco occasionally. Talk to us, coming out on the 6th of March, like what's the vibe, what can you hint at? What can you tell us that you've not told any of our radio stations so far? - Well, it's a lot of, I think for me, like when I finished the last tour, it was quite long, and I think I got to the end of it, and I felt like, before I make another album, I really need to know, I really need like a strong, like why, of why I would be making another album. It can't, the answer can't just be, well, I've finished a tour, so now I make another album, and then after that, I do this, and then I put it out, and then I do another tour. I think a lot of it, for me, was kind of paying a bit more attention to some of the other corners of my life, that when I've been touring for long stretches, I haven't always given that much attention to. - We've got to talk about the tour, because you've just announced it together. The reaction, it's mad, six nights at Wembley, you said before that Wembley's the greatest show of your life. Do you think you're about to match that on the new tour? - I do my best, I'll do my best. Yeah, on the last tour, there was one show, in particular at Wembley, that I just remember, I remember this feeling of I just felt like I was floating, I just felt so there, and I think it's really hard, sometimes when great things are happening to you, you're kind of like, spend the whole time going, am I enjoying this enough, am I enjoying this enough? And I remember a show where I was like I'm so just here right now, and I'm so just enjoying what I'm doing, that any fear of not enjoying it enough, just kind of left me. I was so like, oh, I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. - And you're bringing along the lady that you say taught to sing, Shinaya Twain, because this relationship all started with a video message to your mum, is that right? - Yes, she's someone who musically has been in my life for such a long time in such like a beautiful way. I just remember being so young and being like in the car with my mum and singing, Shinaya Twain, and kind of learning, you know, like the lyrics, and it being someone, you know, in a lot of ways, it was like she was like my vocal coach or something, you know, seeing those behind the like, some of the earliest memories that I have of singing and enjoying music, and has been, you know, those memories also like part of memories that I have with my mum, like it's such a special thing that music does for us in that way, that it like soundtracks your life. So I'm so honored that she's coming. I'm so like blown away by it. I'm really just like very, very excited for those. - And quickly, and so the fans are listening like now, like we said, what do you want to see them in at the tour, because on the last tour they looked absolutely fabulous, feathered boars. What does Harry want to see them in on the new tour for 26? - I think I want them to come ready. I just want them to come ready to dance. - Yes. - I want them to come ready to like be with their friends, close their eyes, open their eyes, dance, let it go, be whatever whoever they are in that moment. And I think it's going to be fun. I'll be right there. - Great. Look, we're really looking forward to it. Before we go. - Thank you so much. - Chris and Sean can't be here, my co-host. So they've been taking the mic out of me this week for drinking ovul tea. I don't know if you've ever had this before. They think it's really uncool, but I think if we can get Harry Styles to say it's cool, then they'll leave me alone. - I don't know what that is, so I couldn't possibly endorse it. - You've never had ovul tea in your life. - I can't say that I have. - Okay, next time. - It looks like digestive or something. - It tastes very similar to digestive. Do you know when you suck the chocolate for multiser, it's pretty much the inside of a multiser. - Oh, so it's like malt. - Yeah, yeast. - Okay. - A bit of a way to question. - Well, you haven't sold it to me with yeast tea, I'll be honest. - I was close and then yeast tea really knocked me off. - They've been giving me so much stick this week, and I'm like, right, I can get Harry Styles to say it's cool. - I'm sure it's lovely, but yeast tea's buried it for me. - I'm not gonna lie, pal, you've let me down a bit there 'cause I was up here. - All right. - They'd leave me be now. - Look, it's absolutely pleasure to speak to you today. - Thank you, I appreciate it. - The single, the album, the tour, we cannot wait, and next time you're in London popping, I'm a love to see you, good luck. - Thank you so much. Thanks for having me. - So there it is. - My little chat with Harry Styles. I wish you was two there, kind of watch that, but I'm glad I did it on my own as well. 'Cause you've interviewed him before, 'cause you've been out on the beers, we have it. - No, like right back in the day, right back in the day. But when he first sort of started all his solo stuff, he would hang around at work and that, and he would just be knocking around the studio, and just chilling in the office and a couple of drinks. - Really? - No, it was mad, we did have some good nights out, 'cause we had a lot of mutual friends. - I think you have mutual friends here, Harry Styles. - Yeah, there was one amazing night. I don't wanna say too much, but maybe I'll tell you the full story on another podcast, but Harry Styles ended up getting completely naked. - Amazing. - Great. - And I won't say, tell me when to stop. - Yeah, he got completely naked, and the story involves a blue parrot. (laughing) But I can't, I don't know. - It's more than if you were there, you know.
