streaming and all that good stuff joining us in the good stuff hasn't had to break out the umbrella yet but he's out there in texas where they're getting some rain right now the great sean chandler's here sean how you doing sir i'm doing good hopefully the rain won't hit us while we're doing the show because whenever that happens my internet tends to fail so well you'll know why we'll we'll warn down from the ceiling i i sean i don't know if you knew about this but we we for a while when i was with amc and later when we were doing the john campion show we worked out of a studio in hollywood called the stream great studio like wonderful studio so one day though we we show up to in hollywood to go do our show and we walk in and it's on the third floor and it's a swamp like it's a swamp and water's pouring through the ceilings and all this kind of stuff and oh like i'm shocked though like not like no with all the water that came in that there wasn't a lot of expensive damage done to the equipment water came down everywhere but where equipment was so then i spent the morning wrapping everything in plastic but then we had that happen at the amc studio as well remember and unfortunately it came down right on dennis's camera right on dennis's stuff i remember i mean i shouldn't laugh that was terrible i felt horrible but it was a big room and of all the spots it was right right on his gear and yeah they had to come and tart anyway guys sorry uh we're going down reminiscent lane there most importantly of course you guys are here thank you so much for being here and being a part of our show here's how today's show is going to go we're going to start off by talking about a few predetermined topics we got lined up for you guys then in the second part of the show we're going to take your live comments and questions if you guys have a thought theory opinion question or an issue you'd on into the super chats they are open right now but i will be turning them off at some point as it gets filled up because there's already a lot of super chats in there but in the meantime you can't send them in as long as i deem it appropriate to be addressed on the show we'll address those in the second part of the show and at one last reminder for everybody i have put this on social and in the community tab and i've been mentioning on the show but one last time the movie meetups that were supposed to be happening uh this and next week were of course canceled and we're going to have a technical issue with the van and i wasn't able to get out on the road so we had to cancel those i will reschedule for some point but as as of right now uh that stretch of the leg has been postponed all right with that all down guys let's get things started here shall we we're going to start off with this you know uh despite the fact that it is very divisive amongst a lot of the mcu fans because a lot of people liked it and a lot of people didn't uh i firmly fall on the liked it side i liked eternals i thought eternals was a really very different kind of mcu movie directed by an academy academy award winning director and then later got nominated for best director again with hamnet which we're going to be talking about a little bit later and i thought she brought a really interesting vision to eternals and i liked it but one of the most interesting things both people who liked it and maybe didn't like it kind of agree on was near the end when they kind of implied that well we already knew who dane was but that kit harrington picking up the sword was about to become our black knight of course also part of that scene was another guy by the name of mahershala ali which was the voice of blade but you didn't see him on screen you just heard his voice well uh blade gone and now it's official while we all suspected it uh kit harrington is also officially not returning to the mcu this comes to us from the folks over at ign who wrote the following fans have long wanted marvel to announce a midnight suns team up movie and still hold hope that one may materialize eventually not only could kit harrington return without the rest of the eternals it would also be a neat place to feature ryan gosling's ghost rider following his introduction and hey mahershala ali's blade could appear there too we know that's not happening but for now at least harrington has suggested this is not on the cards talking to movie web the actor said he wasn't aware of any invitation to rejoin the marvel universe i'd love to return harrington began i don't think there's any plan to i hate to break it to you i think he's a wicked character he continues there's a part of him that whole ebony blade stuff where the more he kills the worse he gets the more addicted i think he's such a great parable of addiction i think he's someone who starts good and goes bad but we'll see i don't know if there's any plan all right so it sounds basically like kit harrington has said yeah i mean we've all suspected it for a while now but there don't seem to be any plans to break it to you i think he's a wicked character he continues to bring him back and i'm okay with that on the one hand not because i didn't think he was great or would have been great continuing in the role i do but you know the mcu is quite a crowded place it's about to get a whole lot more crowded with the x-men and the 5 000 characters that they bring with them into the fold as well so that's all going to be a part of it and so i get it and i'm okay with it on the other hand he does raise a really great point in the sense that there is such a really rich story to tell with him like again i love the way he put that the character itself becomes a great parable of addiction that the more he uses it the deeper he falls into it the more control it starts to have over him and i just think there's a really cool story to be told there now on the other hand guys i think we would probably all agree if we're studio executives i don't know that there's a pitch to be made that a black knight movie could be a financial success i don't know if there's a lot of average movie goers out there that are asking for it i mean yeah there weren't a lot of average movie goers asking for guardians of the galaxy either but you know that's more the exception than the rule so i'm a little bit torn on it again sean i'm not surprised i don't think you are either to hear him say this and i get it and i understand it and i don't necessarily disagree with it but at the same time a little disappointed to hear about that anyway you hear kit harrington saying there's no plans for him to come back uh are you surprised to hear that right move wrong move what do you think it's just kind of the confirmation of what we've all known for a while now that eternals all of the lingering plot threads at the end of that movie are going absolutely nowhere and this just kind of feels like the frustration of the movie is just kind of like the frustration of the movie is just kind of the way that phases four and five were kind of mismanaged where if you look at phases one through three every single movie except incredible hulk got a sequel and incredible hulk obviously showed up in avengers thor ragnarok well incredible hulk kind of did get a sequel in captain america brave new world in a way i suppose many years later um very true um but that sense of where everything they did for a long time very clearly went somewhere and it felt like even the lesser movies mattered as a bigger piece of the puzzle and then there was that confusion that came with phases four and five where so much stuff came out and it didn't go anywhere it wasn't followed up and i'm more on the side that wasn't crazy about eternals but even this to me is frustrating because it was like i wanted to see where that was going wait john snow is black knight and he's talking with blade what's that about i want to see that oh we're not getting any of that and it's that frustration i just i i would love to have some sort of honest conversation with kevin feige where he could explain how some of this stuff played out the way it played out of feeling like they did so many things where how could you even do a sequel to all the things in second seasons to all these shows they launched in phases four and five because they launched so many new things all at once where it would take you years and years and years to just do a second movie for each of them or second season i think you know the answer to that was like especially with the eternals one was look kevin feige loved that movie he loved it and he had a lot of belief in it and jonathan you can correct me where i'm wrong here but i think it made in the neighborhood of i don't even think it cracked one black adam like i don't even think it got to 400 million i think it was like 300 and something it might have cracked 400 you might want to double check that 402 oh it did crack oh it beat black adam i stand corrected my apologies uh but you know that was really the first financially disappointing film for marvel and i think that probably had a lot to do like listen i i'm still amazed that at some point in marvel 616 universe a celestial five times bigger than the planet appeared in the sky and said oh by the way i'm coming back for judgment and ain't nobody ever mentions it it just it's just no it never happened just just another tuesday in the marvel world uh anyway guys question is for you What do you think about this? Kit Harington. is kind of confirmed that there are no plans for him to return, much like his off-camera cohort, Mahershala Ali. Yeah, the Black Knight will not return in Avengers Doomsday. So that's kind of unfortunate, but I kind of get it. Whatever you guys think about that, jump down into the comment section below and let us know your thoughts. All right, guys, with that down, let's move on to this. You know, speaking of Avengers Doomsday, there is, of course, another Avengers movie coming just a year later with Avengers Secret Wars. And yesterday, while we were doing the John Campion show, a little bit of casting news dropped, as it has been announced by Deadline, not confirmed by Marvel, but Deadline found out and they decided to spoil it. And they revealed that Avengers Secret Wars, Noah Jupe, by the way, I don't know for 100% for sure if I'm mispronouncing his last name, but I'm going to go with Jupe until somebody corrects me. Noah Jupe joins the upcoming Marvel Studios movie. This is what they wrote. He looks like a young Orlando Bloom in many ways. Anyway, says this exclusive, while Marvel Studios still has a couple of months before it unveils Avengers Doomsday, the next chapter already is looking to add to its stack cast. Sources tell Deadline that Noah Jupe has been tapped for a secret role role in Avengers Secret Wars, which is set to go in. Later this year, Marvel had no comment on Jupe joining the cast. All right. So first of all, a couple of things. If you're not super familiar with Noah Jupe, that's understandable. He hasn't, he's young. He's only, I think, 21 or something like that. He hasn't been around a lot, but he's already got a pretty impressive resume. As we go down through his stuff, he's got some pretty high profile things. He just did Hugh, Jackman's The Death of Robin Hood with, uh, with Jackman. Obviously he was in The Night Manager. Uh, then we've got the real standout one for me was Hamnet, uh, which guys, again, the movie got nominated for best picture. It got nominated for best director. It got a bunch of other things. I know a lot of you guys still haven't seen Hamnet. You really should watch Hamnet. If you like being emotionally moved, the last act of this movie will wreck you. I mean, anyway, uh, he did Lady in the Lake, uh, Dreamin' Wild, Quiet, of course, uh, in the Quiet Place movies. He was, uh, John Krasinski's son in the Quiet Place movies. He was in Honey Boy. Uh, so he's done a bunch of stuff. By the way, interesting side note that I only learned today, for those of you that did watch Hamnet, and he appears in the final act on stage as the actor playing Hamlet, and you're like, oh my God, he even looks like their son. Well, that's because I only found, I was telling you guys this earlier, I only found this out today. The kid who played Shakespeare's son who dies in the movie is actually Noah's real life little brother. So if you were like me and going like, holy crap, they even look alike. Well, apparently that was it. I didn't know that. I had no idea they were real life brothers. So that's pretty interesting, uh, that that happened as well. So, uh, anyway, so this is obviously going to bring up, and by the way, I thought he was so good in Hamlet. And by the way, he had just finished doing Romeo and Juliet on stage with Sadie Sink. So him and Sadie Sink have already. So whenever you get somebody who can do Shakespeare and can do stage, that's a huge check mark in my book, because you're just talking about a different breed of actor that can do that. So I'm all, that's great. The big question that's going to come up for a lot of people is, what's the secret role? Who is he playing? I've already seen a lot of speculation online that he's going to play young or slightly older. I should say Franklin Richards. I don't know about that. Um, only because Noah is already in his twenties. I don't know if they're going to fast forward Franklin that much, although an argument could be made guys that he could still play. Pass for 15. And I, I wouldn't necessarily argue against that. He could still pass for 15, but so, but again, Franklin Richards is an option. Some people are thinking a beyonder. I don't think you, I don't think you cast him to be a beyonder, although that is one of the possibilities, but here I want to throw out. This is a possibility. We have been, I know I have, and Rob has too. Whenever we've talked about secret wars in the comics, for those of you who've read the comic of secret wars, you know, how pivotal and anchoring of a character molecule man is like, like he's the cog, right? Molecule man is the cog. We've all assumed myself included that they are going to swap out molecule man for either a Franklin Richards, right? A Loki, a century, somebody else that becomes that reality warping power battery that, that doom uses, right? What if we've been wrong? What if it's not, they're not swapping out molecule man. What if we literally, what if he's playing molecule man? And we find out that in his earth, they had a molecule man and he used him. So that's an option too, or he's going to play shopkeeper number three. And, and that's that. Anyway, Sean, you saw this news about Noah Jupe now joining secret wars. So two questions, how do you feel about his casting? And then number two, you got any sort of thoughts about who we could see him playing? Well, I'd kind of tie the two together of, I don't have any theories as to his casting because it feels like he's really ascended really quickly. Not obviously he has a long resume, but you know, a quiet place. The first one was what? Eight years ago when he was literally a kid and he was in Ford versus Ferrari when he was literally a kid. And so you kind of jump forward. He's the son, right? He played Christian Bale's kid. Yep. Miles. Yeah. Peter Miles. And so you jump forward now and he's an adult and maybe he can still play a teenager, but he's quite a bit older. And then he shows up in Hamnet in a role that's pretty specific that it's like the kind of role where he's playing a part in a play. And so you've got someone that has a long resume at a very young age, but not in the sense where it makes it really obvious what he could do, what his potential is like, you know, he can act, you know, he has the biggest franchises as well as Oscar winners for Oscar nominated films, but not in a typecast sort of way. So it's not in the sense where I have a specific vision for what he would look like. So that's, what's exciting to me is that I don't know where this is going. I don't immediately go, oh, he's probably doing this. I just go, they saw talent and they wanted to put him somewhere. Probably that's what's happening. Or like you said, maybe it's some random role that they're reporting like big news and it's not, but that we're getting Marvel casting outside of a big announcement outside of a convention with a character associated with it in and of itself. That's kind of interesting. And it's being that he did something with Sadie Sink on Broadway recently. That's really interesting since she was one of these ones where they did announce her as being cast and we didn't find out who it was until the movie debuted. And so that there's just kind of that little tie. There's just kind of interesting to me, but I don't have any fan theories yet because I just, I'm not familiar enough of what he would be a good fit for. Yeah, that's, that's a good point. Uh, Jonathan, you got any theories right now about who you think we could see him playing? I mean, it might not even be one of those three. I mean, I know you kind of joked with shopkeeper. Yeah, it could be a hundred characters, but this is a stack. This is going to be a stacked movie. And I mean, you've got different realms that you're going to, well, okay. I'm just assuming if they're going off of like the comic book, you've got different realms to fill. Um, you've also got, if they stick with the comic book where the people of Manhattan are actually aware of what happened. I mean, he, this guy could be playing anybody. So I just, I mean, to me, to all of a sudden have the beyonder pop in just seems kind of odd. I feel like you're going to have an established character. So I feel like if doom's going to use anyone, it's actually not going to be century. It's going to be Franklin Richards, but it's just so hard because anything is such speculation at this point that more than likely we're wrong. Whatever. Oh yeah. Oh, that, that much is absolutely true. It's 1%. Any of our guesses, 99%, somebody else completely. Uh, but it's going to be interesting to see where they go with this. Dude comes from the stage. He was in Hamnet. He can do Shakespeare. That's all we need to know. This dude's going to kill whatever it is he plays, but who do you think he might be playing? You know, one of the great movie stories of the year, and there have been several really great stories this year, everything from the wild success of Spider-Man to like, I think we're now at $5 billion films for the year. A lot of very, very good stories But one of the most fascinating has to be the story of obsession. g'day i'm justin wolfers host of the platypus economics podcast if there's one thing i've learned success and where there is money there is going to be drama we've already heard not long ago about the fact that one of the i think it was the cinematographer maybe uh kind of made some noise you this is about not being paid much money to do it and stuff like that well now apparently one of the producers of obsession has now filed a lawsuit against one of the production companies and a couple of the other producers claiming that she never got any kind of a payout for doing the movie as deadline rights obsession executive producer sues over allegedly being scammed out of promised profits from high grossing horror hit so apparently uh she got paid a bonus of three hundred thousand dollars on a movie that made half a billion dollars now the person in question is this executive producer here leonora darby by the way that's my one of my aunt's names leonora hi aunt leo uh leonora darby is one of the producers you see they got a bunch of producers listed on the movie and apparently according to the story she got promised a lot of money and she got a lot of money a lot and was pivotal in getting this movie across the finish line and they didn't honor any of those deals let's actually go over and see what deadline has to say about it deadline said this leonora darby claims that she has been rewarded for saving obsession by two of the film's other executive producers ripping her off this action arises from a seven-year pattern of unequal treatment and broken compensation the reason it's seven years is because she's been working with this production company for a long time and she's been working with this production company for a long time and she's been working with this production company and these two producers for that long over multiple projects a seven-year pattern of unequal treatment and broken compensation promises by two older male film producers to a younger female producer whose label labor was material to the growth of their company and who rescued their biggest film the global hit obsession reads a breach of contract complaint filed on august 28th the document says darby was promised big bucks from uh one of the highest grossing horror films of all time but didn't get what she was promised no one wish willow zinger here but the long 135 page court filing darby says t-shop productions jame harris and mark lane you might have just saw their name on the producers list for obsession as well we're playing her for a while and the indy navaretti and michael johnson starring a session proved the final straw specifically darby says that the duo brought her on board at their failing and fledgling company in 2019 with offers of being a producer including with respect to compensation company direction project decisions financial transparency and access to business opportunities among those aforementioned opportunities where lane and harris's 2024 promise allegedly reneged on at least once that darby would have received one-third 33.33 percent of the net profits due to t-shop films on the lead she produced together with direct participation in the applicable collection account management agreements okay so basically the suit alleges that not only did that happen with obsession but there were multiple productions that this company got involved with that she helped bring to fruition cross the finish line on and that there are other productions she's worked on with them that they didn't keep their promises as well at least that's what's alleged but the big one obviously comes to a head with obsession and there's even a part of this where she says at one point the director of the film got disconnected from it and that she was the one who had to fight to get it back into his hands for the edit to finish the movie and complete the movie and she's the one who got the film across the finish line all that kind of stuff film wakes half a billion dollars that's not what t-shop would have got but they would have got a lot and she says the only bonus thing she got was three hundred thousand dollars which is a bonus i would happily take in case anybody wants to send me something so but it comes down this is where it's going to get sticky i read now i haven't read the 135 page filing i actually think i'm going to do that i'm a bit of a legal geek but having read through the article what was not clear in the article was that all these alleged promises promises i don't know if she's got it in writing yeah it's not a problem it's not now if somebody says it that's still legally binding like if they took if they had dinner with her one night and say we're going to give you one third of whatever our profit share is from the movie we're going to give you 33.33 we're going to give you one third you don't have to have that in writing for to be legally binding that's legally binding but you have to be able to establish that that happened right so this lawsuit is probably again unless it is in writing and that's just not mentioned in the article in which case that's not great reporting but if it's not in writing they're going to have to do depositions with all the other staff they're going to have to get somebody on record testimony saying yes uh we heard them make that promise or whatever because if the promise was made she's owed if they can't prove that she's not but this becomes a big lesson to everybody do not make your deals with a handshake get everything in writing it just avoids a lot of problems but again where a lot of big money gets involved drama gets involved people start breaking promises when money gets involved people you know start imagining promises when money gets involved so look if they did screw her out of this then i hope she gets everything that she deserves out of it um because three hundred thousand dollar bonus sounds nice until you realize she's the one who got the movie across the finish line and then it made half a billion dollars anyway sean uh you had a chance to take a look at this story i'm i'm going to go out on a limit guess you haven't read the 135 page actual filing yourself yet i i haven't had a chance to do that i will at some point but this is now the second or third time we're hearing some dissatisfaction from people who have worked on obsession about what the ultimate outcome was all of it surrounds money what's your takeaway from it how does it hit you and what do you think is going to happen here it seems pretty common with a lot of these small budget independently made movies that when they take off and suddenly tens hundreds of millions of dollars are involved there's almost always a lawsuit where there's few lawyers involved on the front end more handshake deals and then people go hey wait a minute you told me this where's my where's my money another thought i was thinking about they sold the movie for 16.2 million dollars about a year ago to get distribution i don't know how that factored in but i think it's going to happen here it seems pretty common into the what percentage the producers actually made out of it if they sold the film for 16.2 billion dollars or million dollars and then the studio went on to make 500 million dollars um so that's one thought that i have like what the percentage should be actually of but um i i tend to think like what is in writing and that it didn't it keeps using the word promised but not in contract in writing and that's just what immediately stuck out to me in the language of what was in the article so i think it's going to happen here i think it's going to happen here i usually think if a movie takes off like this the producer should be generous with bonuses for people but that's just i think it's good to be you know compensate people that helped you have a wild success but what's in writing is what you're legally obligated to do so that's immediately where my mind goes by the way uh somebody in the live chat i i get it like uh danken is saying if she is owed then that's fine she's owed but three hundred thousand dollar bonus could change your life greed is not always good listen if you got promised five million dollars for your efforts and your work and then you get a check for three hundred thousand dollars yeah the three hundred thousand dollars is great but may i propose that you would be singing a different tune if it was you and and you and you were told you're going to get one third of what the company makes on this and if the company made like like it was probably more than sixteen million dollars it could have been in the fifty million dollar range seventy five million dollars but let's just go with fifteen they get paid fifteen million dollars you're owed five million it's one thing to say she's greedy saying well why isn't three hundred thousand good enough that's fine unless it was you that was promised five million and then you get less than right you know uh much much much less then it becomes a different issue five million dollars technically then you put those into some dividend bearing investments you never have to work another day in your life oh no - Dude, listen, good financial wisdom for everybody. put $500,000 in some good dividend things you never have to work again in your life but but again it's it's this is all going to come to come down to this we're and it's going to be as simple as this if there were other people who were aware of these promises and they testify to that in deposition and if you lie in deposition you go to jail um she should have a really strong case to get the money however if it was all closed office door one-on-one meetings and something was said to her and it's nothing but he said and she said and there's nothing to back it up then she's going to have a very very difficult time uh proving it so it's going to be interesting to see how this breaks down again i'm just fascinated whenever you hear about these big huge hit movies especially surprise ones with people who aren't used to having that kind of success that drama usually follows anyway guys question is for you what do you think about this one of the producers on obsession is saying the other producers ripped her off and are trying to ice her out and she's suing them for it i don't know uh what do you think do you think listen this is your own fault for not getting it in writing or or maybe it is and it's just not in the reporting whatever you guys think jump down into the comment section below and let us know your thoughts all right guys with that down let's move on to this you know one of my favorite filmmakers and i think for a lot of you guys too is danny boyle uh the guy just has this in every single one of his movies and he's got a wide range of movies but in all of them there is a frantic kinetic kind of energy that whether it's a um whether it's a train spotting or whether it's slumdog millionaire or whether it's hours or whether it's whatever he just has this ability to bring this frantic kinetic energy to his projects well he's got a new project coming out called ink and it's premiering i believe today at the venice film festival if i'm not mistaken but the first trailer for ink has just come out and it is amazing it is absolutely amazing and the cast in it is absolutely fantastic uh this is what they write over at the wrap danny boyle's ink has dried the british auteur's latest an adaptation of james graham's 2017 stage play about the rebirth of the sun with jack o'connell as the paper's news editor larry lamb and guy pierce who i love guy pierce as rupert murdoch the australian mogul that bought and subsequently turned around the failing paper is headed to theaters later this year before a debut on netflix in early 2027 but with its venice film international film festival premiere here we have a brand new trailer and you can watch it below and by the way it's not just jack and guy pierce claire foy is in this and of course claire foy burst onto international recognition by her portrayal in the first couple of seasons of the crown as the queen and she's fantastic and you know it's really funny a little bit of a side note here claire foy after winning tons of awards for being in the queen and she is a remarkable performer she was poised to have this career really skyrocket and it just never did and i i really don't know why because she's phenomenal but anyway uh she looks great in this i love these based on true stories you know they certain levels of creative license for sure but i still love these based on true stories kind of thriller movies that ask really interesting questions you know the paper was one that did that um spotlight was one that did that really well and you know guys watching the trailer for inc it raised a really great question that even on small potatoes levels of like little youtube channels and bloggers that even we've had asked sometimes is like you have information should you share it it i mean just because you can share it should you share it and obviously in the inc it's life or death kind of consequences to those questions um and again you're talking about a movie about a british newspaper and yet this trailer thrilled and feels intense and i cannot wait to watch this movie i'll be really interested to see when the reviews start floating out and they should come out sometime today i'm guessing but anyway sean you had a chance to watch the trailer for inc what did you think about it well kind of piggybacking on what you said about that energy that danny boyle always brings to his project the first thing i wrote down immediately while watching the trailer was wow i love this punk rock aesthetic brought to the newsroom where it's just immediately the the music choice the music choice the music choice the music choice the camera work just the energy it brings it to life where so often movies about newsrooms are you know they're they're high stress but there's a properness to them and this just has that punk rock energy to it that like immediately like okay this is different i'm tracking along with that which is also you know ties into the theme of the movie of this punk rock aesthetic towards doing news and the dangers of that second thought i had of when you release a movie at a film festival in september release it in december in some degree and then put it in theaters in january feels like they're setting up that oscar run like that specific release schedule is pretty common to do that and so you think like if the buzz coming out of the screening tonight or the next few days is as good as we're hoping it is we're looking at their oscar run campaign starting right now and intentionally putting out this trailer to even get that buzz and then people hear the positive word of mouth and then maybe becomes you know that front runner conversation about it and then likewise the other thing you talked about just the general nature of it i appreciated that it's kind of playing the fun side of like let's do the the outsider version of the news that's kind of breaking all the rules and then also going wait a minute these rules are here for a reason there are consequences to playing loose with some of these things you have to have some integrity and there's consequences for your actions it ties into all those different angles rather than just kind of romanticizing the news or anything like that it's like right this can be great it can also be really dangerous yeah i mean i i lament the fact that like a lot of people do that at some point and maybe this is kind of the origin of that the news stopped being the news and became entertainment and when the news became entertainment i think we lost something by the way am i the only one who when i see this image from the trailer and from the movie is this not the opening scene from the last of us yeah like is is this not from the series from season one the series it looks reminds me a lot like that anyway what if the global temperature rises just by yeah just by like three to three degrees um then we lose all right guys question is for you what did you think about this trailer for danny boyle's new film inc i thought it looked absolutely fantastic uh we'll find out how good it actually is down let's move on to this you know i am not and and you guys who watch my show know this i am while i am somebody who does appreciate the harry potter movies some of the movies that i've seen in the past have been quite a bit i'm not what you would call a potter head i've never nor will i ever read the books i'm not really deep into the lore all that much i just appreciate the movies and i like the movies for what they are but i'm not really a potter head but when they announced that they were doing a brand new hbo was doing a brand new potter series where every season was going to be one of the books instead of just one two-hour movie every season was going to be one book i thought that's interesting that's interesting when i then heard the lineup of the showrunners and executive producers they were bringing on board which are without exaggeration literally the best of the best in the business right now i was like okay you had my curiosity now you have my attention and then when they put out those first little clips i thought this feels really good i mean i like the feeling this well today they have put out really their first full trailer almost two and a half minute trailer for harry potter and as somebody who's not a potter head and i don't have a dog in this hunt holy crap it looks good it it looks so good um anyway this is what the folks over the whole reporter had to write they said this hbo released a new trailer for harry potter and the philosopher's stone featuring a much more detailed look at the cast and Potter's first year at Hogwarts. ron hermione and the core professors all get speaking lines in this new footage which shows some iconic moments from jk rowling's first novel such as harry under the sorting hat the quidditch pitch and harry being dissed by professor snape and you know i i saw one discussion going on online about it and one of the things that again as somebody who hasn't read the books one of the things that a lot of people were pointing out apparently who have read the books are saying you could already see in the trailer some of the things that the movies just never had time to show that were in the books and they kind of dropped them into the trailer here again i just kind of felt the wonder of it i i thought it felt great i think jonathan lithgow is gonna be a great dumbledore i mean i thought that from the day they announced his casting anyway so i already thought that was a given um so yeah look as a non-potter head i watched this and i just thought it was great by the way somebody a few people also mentioned latch at nick frost look great again nick frost was one of those casting guys at the moment they announced that nick frost was playing hagrid like it was kind of like when they announced that patrick stewart was going to play professor x like it's like the whole world went like well yeah obviously that was such a inspired perfect bit of casting and so that looked good anyway uh i watched the trailer today i watched it about three times and i was like oh my god i'm gonna watch this again and i was like oh my god i'm gonna watch this again and i was like oh my god i'm gonna watch this again and i was like oh my god i'm gonna i was swept up by it i i thought it was beautiful again seen lots of great trailers for bad movies and bad shows so we'll see how that goes but you know it's getting closer it still feels like this potter thing sean is still something that's like two years away but it's actually coming out in a couple of months like we're gonna get dune 3 doomsday and harry potter series all in the same month anyway you had a chance to take a look at the trailer yourself what did you think about it as a first kind of full trailer out there the first kind of full trailer out there i keep running into the with this one is when the original set of films are so iconic and they create the image i have in my head of these characters are the actors from before the world of hogwarts is the one from those films there's always this tricky part of we're adapting the exact same book and so i'm just my brain is still adjusting to it's a new adaptation of course it's going to be different so there's a little bit of that with my kind of brain uh i'm very much on board with the the concept like some people is it too soon the others are so iconic they had to trim so much when you're converting these long books in particular the later books they had to trim so much out yeah in order to fit them into movies under three hours long this is the right way to do it and hbo has a 30-year track record of premium television the best television for decades now and that's where it's being adapted so i there's a side to me that's still like my insides are kind of fighting it because it's like it's different from what the images that are in my head already and at the same time i go the track record here is really strong you can just look at the production it's incredible it's just as slick and polished as you would expect from hbo and as they kind of pointed out you're able to do all the small things that had to be trimmed out of the movies to fit into the runtime and you have the time to let the world breathe to play around and explore a little bit more and have childish hijinks at a wizard school yeah i mean one of the things that really stood out to me guys in watching it and i got this sense from the first little tease they put out a few months ago i can't believe how cinematic it feels like this does not feel like a smaller scale you know retelling of harry potter it it it really does feel enormous in scale it it feels uh the production looks beautiful again we'll see how it actually turns out the jury's going to be out on that but that part really got me like just even watching on a little youtube window i can't wait to see on the big screen going through the doors into that iconic dining hall the candles floating in there you know i think one of the tricky things for them in this is going to be finding that very delicate balance of capturing that identity of the of the films while giving them their own distinct identity all at the same time and that's going to be the trick and it's going to be hard for them to do it but i think we're off to a good start you know jonathan you are you've got a couple of uh people living in your house is is potter a big thing in your house at all uh biggest with me actually really yeah yeah bigger with me than than any other movie in my life yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah anyone else i i think it's interesting that um i i don't think i noticed the uh the theme music from john williams in this trailer was not in it right i did not notice it yeah i had to watch it twice i'm like oh i was kind of expecting to hear the do-do-do-do-do you know and now i don't know if that means it's not going to be in the series at all or if they just want to be as original as possible because maybe if you start out with the trailer and you've got that music playing then immediate you're like that's not miss mcgonigal you know so right so they might want to separate it that that just if the quality is great by the time we're done with the final episode of season one we're going to be like get get us uh the next one get us uh what what was it not prisoner of azkaban what was the uh uh that was the second one what was the one chamber chamber of secrets we're gonna be like give me that give me a chamber of secrets you know so i you know i remember about a year or so ago we were talking about this jonathan we were talking on the show about i i had mixed feelings because on the one hand if it's a new iteration i think everything should be new right including the music right normally speaking for most things i think if you're doing a new iteration it needs to have its own musical thumbprint but i said that that is is as identifiable now that john williams music is as identical identifiable with harry potter as the lightning scar on his head sure and i said you know what i'm usually all for just totally new but i bet they're gonna use somewhere in there like maybe it just becomes the hogwarts theme or something i think they're gonna use the original music if they didn't use it in the first trailer which is where you're really trying to give people that sense of nostalgia if they didn't use in the first trailer i'm thinking maybe i was wrong i'm thinking maybe they don't use that original music i do hope we get something as stirring as you know because you can almost hear like the air like blowing with it yeah kind of thing it's just like so iconic i i i the one thing is like i i think it's kind of funny is because sean mentioned it and others have mentioned it you know we just the movies aren't that old the movies are the first ones they're older than you think yeah that's like if a movie came out in the 80s and then they made a series in the teens or the you know when did the first one come out 2001 2001 20 there are people watching this show who weren't born yeah when the first one came out there are people watching this show who weren't born when that came out and have their own child now that how like how crazy is that yeah like draco is is 38 years old like tom felton draco is 38 years old kids are pushing 40 that is how old harry potter actually is what just came out they're basically the time but they're essentially the age they were at that time jump at the end of deathly hollows too yeah in real life yeah yeah by the way that just reminds me of the greatest get ready to feel old moment we ever had on the show and this this was a couple years ago but talking about like those like tom felton is now pushing 40 i remember it was a couple years ago we brought the first one to the show and we were like oh my god i'm gonna die i'm gonna die this up on the show and um we said guys happy birthday to oh what's the name of the actor again who played wesley crusher on star trek will wheaton will wheaton happy birthday to will wheaton who as of today is now older than patrick stewart was when star trek popular north american songs in other languages like i remember once hearing this uh spanish rendition of the great canadian rock ballad summer of 69 by brian adams and i remember thinking but when you sing it in another language do the lines still rhyme or do you change meanings and stuff like that and ever since then i've had a lot of our international friends write in and say oh no no they often change the words around and change the meanings of the songs to make it work so that was a very interesting thing for me to learn all right thanks for that justin uh will writes i highly recommend listening to the full cast harry potter books on audible it's the closest thing to watching a movie without watching a movie listen i'm probably not going to get around to doing that myself after all we have the new series coming out but i have rarely seen like as much production go into an audio drama and the like the a-list casting and everything like they did for these audiobooks by the way kit harrington who we mentioned a little bit earlier he does the voice of the role in the original movies played by uh the professor at hogwarts well they just recently announced he's also going to play the character in the live action show too so that that's kind of interesting as well all right thanks for that will also writes when do you think if ever they'll try to put out kevin costner horizons chapter two i don't think they will i don't think they will um yeah first of all i horizons wasn't that good i mean i'm a i'm a kevin costner fan i don't necessarily think everything he does is gold but i'm a kevin costner fan yeah horizon was not so good and it flopped hard um i i think if anything it'll get like straight to to be or something like that i i really don't see anybody any distributor putting big money behind it to get it out in theaters and kevin costner lost a lot of his personal money on it too so i i don't know how urgent he's gonna feel i don't know how urgent he's gonna feel i don't know how urgent he's gonna feel about trying to get that one put out either so my i might be wrong i'm just saying my guess is probably never that's probably my guess all right next up harsh writes uh the new harry potter tv series trailer was incredible it includes so much new footage that's what i've heard from people uh that the movies could not show i was emotional watching it you know what again i'm not even a potter head and i was kind of getting kind of overwhelmed with it and all that kind of like i said especially in that shot where they enter into the dining hall and you just feel the magic of it you feel the majesty of it i again it's just a trailer and the show may suck but i thought the trailer was really good i really enjoyed it all of the great things about movies and shows and i think it's a great thing to be able to do that and i think it's a the art is that movies great movies and great tv shows they you've often heard me say it's not an escape from what's going on in life it's an oasis it offers us an opportunity i know this has been true in my own life as well it offers us an opportunity to just step away from our issues for a bit let our minds relax let us let our imaginations be swept away into a great story and when we come back from it our problems are still there but hopefully we're in a new mindset we're a little bit more refreshed we're maybe able to look at things with a little bit of a different perspective and that's one of the most awesome beautiful things about the movies and why movies aren't just great they're important and i think the same thing extends to communities that talk about movies so i think not only does watching a great movie do that i think when you're able to jump in to our live chat or some other live forum or whatever and talk to other fans about movies and the things you love i think it does that same thing and and that's why i um i love what i do and i i feel very lucky to do what i do and that movies and the community are able to be there for you much like they're there for me when i'm going through the crap right so thank you for sharing that man i really harry potter trailer was incredible so many cool details in here that expand beyond the books that look like it will add so much to the show feels like they are nailing this show christmas can't come soon enough yeah now look again i do want to be cautious in the sense that i mean we've all lost count how many times we've seen great trailers to movies or tv shows only to have the movie or tv show not live up to the promise right and that could absolutely happen here i doubt that's the case because it's hbo i doubt that's the case because they've got some of the best showrunners and producers in the business today that have worked on some of the most iconic television going today and it's got great source material so i i think they're gonna nail it but i don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves but yeah man listen vendetta is if we're just talking about the trailer okay and we're just talking about the trailer i i gotta agree man i thought it was pretty magical i thought it looked great and i say this as a non-potter head but i i find myself getting pretty excited to watch it especially you know watching what hbo is doing with lanterns right now which is superb television i i really can't wait to watch this man all right thanks a lot for that sin vendetta appreciate it all right thanos writes in anytime i see a legendary director get mad at actors or other films or filmmakers slash companies i don't get mad but something much worse disappointed you're legends guys you have class uh be classy so obviously what thanos is referring to is to that story that came out of the puck yesterday that um iconic legendary first ballad hall of famer director ridley scott had blamed actor paul mescal for the failings of gladiator 2 and that he dropped him from his dog stars movie just months after the movie failed because he blamed him now it should be pointed out that ridley scott and his reps have put out a statement denying that that was the case puck is standing by their source they're they're standing by their source that is what happened but again i think it's only fair to mention that ridley scott house come out and denied that so i mean i wasn't in the room the room where it happened i wasn't in the room So I'll just say that if the story as being reported by Puck is indeed true, if that is what happened, um, then I am in full agreement with you that it is not just upsetting, but probably worse than that. It's, it's disappointing because I mean, who doesn't adore and respect? I mean, yeah, I think he sucked the last 20 years other than the Martian, but he's one of the greatest directors to ever do it. And when you have somebody that you respect that much, you, you hate being disappointed, but anyway, there's that. All right. Uh, next up, uh, Christopher Brickner writes one of two Cretton admitted that Feige approached him to do doomsday after the Kang pivot. I, I haven't read that. Are you sure? Do you have a, do you have a source for that? Maybe that is the case. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I have not read that myself. I, I, to, to the best of my knowledge, Cretton wasn't still offered to do the next Avengers movie, but whatever. Uh, Cretton admitted that Feige approached. Him to do doomsday after the Kang pivot, but Cretton said he wasn't a good fit. Cretton expected, uh, that to be it only for Feige to instead bring up Spider-Man good on Feige for pivoting to another main Marvel property that Cretton would be better suited for. I like, it's my understanding that they, when they decided to pivot away from Kang, which they had to do because they botched Kang so badly, like they had botched Kang so badly. He was just not viable to be the next big Avengers bad. It just couldn't do. It anymore after the way you ruined him, but that, that pivot was done already knowing they wanted to go in the direction of the Russo brothers. Now, whether that's true or not true, whatever it is the case, but Feige understood right from Shang-Chi, which again, I think is one of Marvel's better films, um, that they had an incredibly special director that they were working with. And they absolutely. Absolutely wanted to keep him in the house. And if you, maybe you're not doing Kang dynasty, but if you can pivot him from that and put them on something like Spider-Man, look what happened and my God, look like because of Shang Chi and how big Spider-Man is, we forget he's also the guy who did wonder man and look how good that turned out too. So yeah, it was very, very bright just to, to keep him in the, uh, to keep him in the house. All right. Thanks for that. Christopher. All right. Next up, Keaton. I'm going to go with the movie. Next up, Trenton writes, Hey John, with you having read the leaked Doomsday script, which by the way, is a misunderstanding of the situation. I did not read any leaked script. I had somebody read me in on it. I had somebody totally fill me in on Doomsday long before a leaked script. But at any rate, with you having read the leaked Doomsday script, I'm curious to get your thoughts for why you read it. And do you typically read leaked scripts for a big movie like Doomsday? So yeah, again, it was long before the script got leaked. I had actually a couple of people give me the rundown on the whole story. Now, that means there are still some details. There are some details that I'm sure I don't know about. Like I know all the major plot beats from the beginning of the movie to the end, a lot of the stuff, all that kind of things. But, but for example, here's something I don't know. There are some rumors going around, including a fake AI picture, but that doesn't take away from the rumors. There are some rumors going around right now that Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda may end up being one of Doom's witches. I don't know if that's true or not. Like I know of the Doom witches, but I don't know, yes or no, if one of, if that specific detail, if we see for a split second that it's actually one of them is Wanda, I don't know if that's true or not. Right. But at any rate, neither here nor there. Yes, I do often get sent scripts and yeah, if I, if it's something I'm interested in, I'll read it. The reason being is. And the reason why I was fully. Excited to be read in on what was going on in doomsday, like over a year ago was the fact that spoilers generally don't affect my viewing experience. Like knowing all the major things that happened in doomsday only made me more excited to watch doomsday again. Like I knew the Titanic sinks before I watched Titanic. It didn't at all negatively impact my viewing experience of the movie. It didn't at all. Quite frankly, I think people over exaggerate it. I really do. I really, really do. I think people even well-intending, well, well, well-intentioned people, I think they way over exaggerate it. That's just my personal feeling on it. But yeah, knowing all that kind of stuff is fine. A story is a story. Like people are going to watch Harry Potter. A lot of people are going to watch Harry Potter, have already seen the original movies and have already read the books. And yet they're still going to watch it. They're still going to watch the new show. Isn't that crazy? They know everything that happens. And yet, I mean, that's true too. When the original Harry Potter movies came out, right? Like they were the most popular books in the world. People have read the books and yet they were still going to see the movies. Well, clearly knowing what happened didn't take away from their viewing experience. And that's the same thing for me. It doesn't take away from my experience because knowing theoretically what's going to happen to the story. It's totally different than seeing how it gets executed and hearing how the story gets told. So, um, yeah, I do get sent a bunch of scripts and if it's a movie that really interests me, sometimes I'll read it. Uh, sometimes I don't just cause it takes a while to read a script. And, um, a lot of times people will fill me in on what's going to happen in an upcoming movie. I do not know what happens in secret wars, by the way. I don't know the first thing about what's going to happen in secret wars other than my own theories about what was in the original comic book run. But yes, that's what I'm going to read. That's why I do read them or we'll hear it because it doesn't really affect my viewing experience of a movie. And I, and honestly, I think for most people, it doesn't do it nearly as much as they think it does. But again, that's just me. That's just my opinion of it. All right. Next up. Uh, let's see. Uh, next up final cut by Cressa writes, Hey, John, Ryan Reynolds says we'll never get another Deadpool movie. Uh, but is it possible that he does a Deadpool special presentation or Disney plus show? They won't do that. That would be far too expensive for something that won't have any financial return there. There's just no financial, there's no financial way. It makes sense to pay somebody like Ryan Reynolds, what you would have to pay a Ryan Reynolds to do a Deadpool special presentation. I, unless it's literally just Ryan Reynolds. I don't think it's a good idea to do a Deadpool special, but I think it would be a great idea. I think it would be a great idea. I think it would be a great idea to do a Deadpool special, but I don't think it's a good idea. But yeah, my guess is no. By the way, let's keep them right. Ryan never said that we're never going to see Deadpool again. Uh, Ryan never said that, you know, we're not, may not even seem play a big role in a movie. It's just that you're not going to get Deadpool four, you know, that when we see him again, at least this is what he's saying. When we see him again, it's going to be part of, he's just going to be another part of an ensemble. And so I think we'll see him again. I just think he's kind of done making Deadpool movies as a whole. So no, I don't think we're going to get, uh, I don't think we're going to get a Deadpool. That just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to get a Deadpool special presentation. Good question. I mean, I would watch it. I would watch the hell out of that final cut. All right. Next up, Mr. I writes congrats to adult star, Bonnie blue. She got pregnant after. Oh, nevermind. Um, yeah, that's just, that's just a stupid thing to write in. Uh, Reese Johnson writes, I am a, uh, as a huge fan of the, uh, Potter books and films. The thing I'm most interested in are the details and scenes that weren't included in the films. I think for a lot of people who like that's, that's the thing ever since they announced that each book was not just going to be a two hour movie. Each book was going to be a full season, probably at minimum, like eight hours. And so the question really became for a lot of people, um, what things like, how are they going to do those things that are in the books that never made it in the movies? And how are those going to look on the TV screen or on the movie screen? I should say, no, I had to write the first time the TV screen and how's that going to play out? And we'll find out. All right. Next up, uh, Raul writes. Why aren't comedies popular in the theater anymore? I mean, everything goes in waves, right? Everything moves in waves. So the part of the thing was, is that you've had a number of comedies come out. It was the same thing that happened with spoof comedies. So spoof comedies for a little while started to become popular. And so all of a sudden, some, a bunch of people made a glut of these spoof comedies. And they all sucked. And so nobody went to them anymore. And so it kind of killed for the most part, the spoof comedy thing. Now, recently we just had scary movie 18 or whatever it was came out. Um, but it took a while for them to put out another. We don't see them nearly as much anymore. I think we went through a phase where a lot of comedies that came out just weren't that funny. And so it's more challenging now. To. Pitch a comedy and get a studio to greenlight it because, you know, it's going to have to be something that's pretty special to get the audience to come back. But again, everything goes in cycles and in waves and comedies will be popular again at some point though. All right. Next up, uh, we've got cool. One, two, four rights. John, I keep hearing an upcoming director wants to do a black night movie and has been knocking on Feige's door. Well, every director in the world would love to do a Marvel movie. And I'm sure as keeps knocking on his door. So it doesn't matter. Uh, John, oh, sorry. Uh, Georgie says, John, what are you playing in? Wow. As for the horde, uh, I used to play back in the day, my main guy, uh, what I played an undead mage in world of Warcraft when I was playing, but I just recently started playing world of Warcraft classic again for the first time in years. And I am playing for the first time. I'm playing a human, uh, in the Alliance. I'm just playing a straight human warrior. I never played a warrior before, so I've been playing a straight up human warrior in a world of Warcraft crack classic, not the, uh, retail version, just classic. And, uh, I just got him to level 20 and I'm having a lot of fun playing the game again. I really am. I'm having a lot of fun playing the game again. All right. Next up, uh, we've gotten Michael Smith rights. Coyote versus Acme was great. One of my favorite scenes was meeting at six, six, six, scary lane drive, classic Hollywood horror or mystery trope. There were so many, so many great jokes, like talking about a really good comedy coyote versus Acme. It's just like, forget the nostalgia. The nostalgia is a big part of the movie for sure, which is why it's not going to interest a lot of people because they don't care about Looney Tunes. But. Just as a comedy. it's a funny film man and yes 666 uh scary lane was that whole thing was really good too all right uh ral writes mcu elseworlds or other stories have a place nah i don't think so i don't think so i i think they really just need to keep their focus and attention on what their main cinematic universe is i often thought mcu should do more elseworld kind of stuff but i gave up when it became clear they really weren't going to do that so unfortunately no i don't think it has a place i don't think that's that's a part of kevin feige's lexicon i don't think so uh georgie writes do you think 90 of characters need to die in doomsday so they have more space for people in secret wars not going to address that so because i don't want to say anything that anybody takes something away from or doesn't you so i just i am not going to address that one georgie uh everything movies writes going to see fall to dead point soon this afternoon yeah it comes out this week uh hoping it'll be just as tense as the first film again i don't even remember the first film i also don't like noah jupe as an actor at all so not a fan of him joining secret wars what is there i mean look it's all subjective your opinion is no less valid than mine but i gotta ask what is there not to like like he's phenomenal and he does shakespeare and he does stage you have to be a next level actor to be able to do that like that that's just a different breed so i i would have to again it's all subjective if he doesn't work for you he doesn't work for you but i'm like i like especially when you see him in hamlet playing hamlet or in hamnet playing hamlet i'm just like holy crap this kid's good he's so good and he totally placed that character in quiet place perfectly i what is there i'm just curious what is there not to like about him anyway i think he's great you don't it's all good it's all art it all hits us in different ways all right uh i hope you have a good time with fall too that looks not going to be able to answer that question i'm not going to what must it be like to be the incredibly talented bill scars guard and know you are probably only the third most talented actor in your family what kind of a family do you need to be in where you are as gifted a performer as bill scars guard is and yet you will probably never be looked at as anything but maybe the third most talented actor in your family that is a crazy thing wrap your head around that that that's a that is a talent loaded family my friends all right x-men superfan writes uh hey what film do you feel like recommending to us today any genre use it as a way to fan out about a film you like oh it's just off the top of my head man i i here's one super old comedy i was way too young to watch it when i did because it's kind of dirty little filthy it's uh one of the stars is the great get dabney coleman i actually haven't written watched it in years but i watched it again like 10 years ago and i still found it so funny it's a it's a little known comedy very old with dabney coleman and it's called young doctors in love it's a it's kind of a spoof comedy in some ways but it's called young doctors in love uh i think it has a little nudity in it which like again i was too young to watch it when i watched it but yes the movie is called young doctors in love that's the one i'll give a recommendation to good good one good one all right frank castle writes uh greta's magician's nephew is moving 50 years into the future from the book which would mean lion witch in the world would take place either in the 90s or 2000s i think that actually could be cool it's interesting because the background of lion witch in the wardrobe i believe is world war ii so if they're actually moving the setting up that's interesting like i have i absolutely believe you need to move characters uh cultural settings because you know batman made his first appearance in detective comics in 1939 you can't say bruce wayne is 118 years old right you can't do that this comes up with our magneto debate all the time you we can't say that bruce was born in uh uh 19 let's say 1908 you can't say bruce was born in 1908 anymore right you we it's 2026 for batman to work and make sense you have to say you have to change that part of him right you keep all the essential stuff you have to change that part of them because but if you if you're moving the entire time frame of the entire background that the story of lion witch in the order takes place you can do that it's it's going to be really interesting if they do with those to see what type of setting they drop that in all right next up the millennial bard writes hey john just watch tony and man what an experience have you watched it yet i'd love to know your thoughts i have not and apparently nobody has uh it looks great i really do want to see it but i mean with everything else going i just haven't had a chance to go see it and i've now there's three new movies out this week that i need to go see tomorrow so i don't even have chance to watch it now so i'm probably not going to watch tony until it comes out on home streaming because i've missed my opportunity to to review it so i'm probably gonna have to put that one on the back burner for now there's a lot of movies coming out in september that i have to spend my time at the movie theater at so i have not but i've heard it's great and i am looking forward to watching it i just missed my window to do so all right next up i'm going to be talking about uh the fergus writes like uh like as wildwood is rated pg-13 yeah we talked about that yesterday is anybody surprised like in the trailer we see that a child dies there's a kidnapping there's death there's battles i mean i i don't think anybody thought after watching that trailer i don't think anybody suspected that was going to be a pg movie i mean that that's clearly a pg-13 that was clearly a pg-13 all right x-men superfan writes i find a way to help you explain the magneto stuff in the original run wonder woman fights the second world war but since they had to change it so she can meet the rest of the league uh yeah that's one way of doing it i mean that that's true she she they weren't fighting i mean she she wasn't fighting off nazis again i just don't under here i am always flabbergasted to me i find it just ridiculous first of all like and i promise i won't go long on this but magneto's origin story being connected the holocaust was never a part of his origin that wasn't introduced they changed his background and that part of it wasn't introduced till 1981 not till 1981 and they even changed it away from that later on and then later on brought it back again i mean they've they've done a lot so there's no sacred cow when it comes to the origin of the holocaust origins of magneto but like the batman example you if you're doing magneto today you can't have the holocaust be a part of it because that would make magneto 98 years old or 100 years old or however old right you you can't do that much like batman you have to change things about him as the further we go in time because that origin doesn't make sense anymore what is important about magneto's origin is not the holocaust to the character it's that he lived through and witnessed horrible human atrocities that directly impacted him so we have to change the time period you have to because it's 2026 now so now what's important to stay true to those foundational concepts of the character instead of the holocaust you have to make him and you can still say he's a jewish kid you have to put him into another one of the unfortunately ample examples of terrible human atrocities that turns his heart against humanity that is a very easy fix that doesn't change anything about the character the disrespect i see people showing the magneto character by saying just give him another music mutant power just say he's like a highlander just say he he's got enough just add to his just say he's got a power something he's never had just give him another superpower that says he ages slowly that way the holocaust can still be a part of it it's like you're fundamentally changing the character then that is so disrespectful you're not just changing a detail about his past you are fundamentally now altering what the magneto character is that's nonsense it's ridiculous and it's a much more drastic thing to do for what to maintain a historical detail about him that is not going to come into play for the rest of the story it again to me it's just utterly ridiculous to see no no you gotta keep keep the holocaust no you don't you really don't so and you don't change it's like it's like saying with batman no you got to keep it that he started his career as batman in 1939 what but yeah but that doesn't make sense that doesn't make sense he'd be like 118 years old today well um say batman's a vampire yeah just say he's a vampire so wait a minute you want to totally change and fundamentally change who and what bruce wayne is just so you can keep the detail that he was doing batman things in 1939 you think that is more important than just fundamentally changing who and what the character is like it makes no sense to me so yes trying to give magneto a power that he does not have of slow aging makes as much sense as making bruce an actual vampire so you can still say he was batman in 1939 it makes no sense it's ridiculous and should not be entertained anyway uh let's see next joey libertore writes the days of actors becoming box office draws are dead well it's been dead for 15 years uh but what about directors is christopher nolan becoming the first ever box office draw director oh first no no um alfred hitchcock was definitely the name like people would go to the movies because it was a new alfred hitchcock movie uh people would go see a new stevens not anymore but people would go see a new steven spielberg film because it was a steven spielberg film christopher nolan is not by any stretch of the imagination the first director to become a draw it's it's been ample in history it's been ample in film history but you can make the argument that he's one of only a couple still today he's one of only just a couple still today and by the way i mean while there won't be a lot of people that rush out to see a movie strictly because uh leonardo dicaprio's in it or because george clinton's in it or because denzel washington is in it or or what have you there are a lot of people who will go to a movie because the film seems like it has legitimacy because those actors in it like while while it's true today and has been true for like 15 years um with a few minor exceptions the reality though is that people are more likely to go see a movie if there are actors in it they recognize then if there's a movie coming out with nobody in it they recognize yes once in a while you'll get the one in a million exception like obsession where nobody really recognized any of the actors in obsession yet it made half a billion dollars but that's a very very rare exception having an actor in it that's that's like a jake jelen hall or somebody like a a uh uh john wonger or having somebody like you know like that it at least makes the movie seem credible to the viewer and they may go see it because the movie has credibility if not just to see the star themselves you know what i'm saying but anyway yeah christopher nolan is definitely one of those today but he's absolutely not the first he's absolutely not the first all right next up millennial bard writes and the potter trailer is fired i'm fire i'm sold on this snape i'm listen again i was talking about it because of juke the dude is a decorated stage actor he's gonna kill it as snape man he's gonna absolutely kill it as snape amin writes hamnet will return in avenger secret wars apparently that's what we're getting uh rachel knight online writes whenever i hear about obsession these days i just remember the family guy clip where stewie wants his money from brian that by the way is one of the greatest family guy moments in history if you guys haven't seen it look it up on youtube or something it is absolutely one of the greatest moments in family guy history where's my money i'm getting real tired of you avoiding me man where's my money and he pulls out the flamethrower and beats him with golf clubs it is one of the funniest damn things that family guy has ever done go look it up if uh just look up family guy stewie
