The transcript blends promotional content with reflective storytelling. It begins with a strong promotional push from The Home Depot, offering free carpet installation with top brands like LifeProof and Traffic Master through November 1, 2026, emphasizing affordability and innovation. This is followed by a deep exploration of identity, where the speaker argues that self-definition is fluid and evolving, not fixed, reflecting a broader theme of personal growth. The narrative then shifts to cultural topics, such as the partnership between Coach and Spotify to celebrate individuality through the Tabby Tour and personalized music experiences. The podcast "Girls Rewatch" serves as a central thread, analyzing the significance of shows like *Ugly Betty* and *Hacks*, particularly in advancing LGBTQ+ representation and authentic storytelling. It highlights how these shows reflect evolving societal norms, from early portrayals of queer characters to current narratives of complex, nuanced identities. The discussion also touches on community, friendship, and the emotional resonance of media, especially in the context of show endings. A recurring note is the importance of authenticity—both in personal identity and in media representation—and the idea that genuine connection comes from openness, not performance. Ultimately, the piece combines commercial messaging with heartfelt commentary on self-discovery, community, and cultural progress.

Somebody asked me how I define myself, and I didn't know what to say.
Because how can someone be defined when we're always evolving?
I've been so many things.
I'll be so many others.
Because identity is not a performance.
It's an exploration.
Never the same, but always myself.
That's the paradox.

It was so interesting because we just didn't really get to know each other.
Because we just didn't really think that anyone would care that we were shooting there,
and there were, like, substantial amount of people, like, just, like, watching.
People like this show.
I'm like, where do you think your base is?
A queer comedy on HBO?
I'm like, you got two to three cities.
You're in Midtown, baby.
Exactly, yeah.
We're in one of the three.
Welcome back to Girls Rewatch.
So Mark was only able to be here for 35 minutes,
so we're doing a quick intro off the top
because the King and Queen of England were in town.
Unfortunately, that also means Fidei.
It's going to be backed up as hell.
Now, did you know so many things would be working against us today?
No, and by the way, those forces are still at play.
Yeah.
Girl, I'll tell you.
Oh, my God.
Wait, why?
I saw them in your tone, and it's a big part.
I saw them in your toe.
Oh, girl, get that out of there.
No, I just meant that just, like, I got to do this, and I got to do that.
And then there's only a big part.
I'm feeling the stress of the week.
There's 4,000 things to do today.
You started a new job.
You're submitting a packet.
There's stress in the air.
There's just a lot to do, and it's kind of things are due at 6 o'clock,
and then I have to, of course, head over to an improv edition
for a thing that's already rejected us twice,
so I hope we get rejected a third time.
That'd be awesome.
Oh, you guys are auditioning for BCC home teams today?
No, don't say it out loud.
Don't give it power.
Because what if you don't get it?
It's like Voldemort, girl.
If you say it out loud, girl.
Oh.
Uh-oh.
Here, I'll knock on.
You think you knock on what if you say Voldemort?
Guys, no, I just don't want bad luck.
No, that's beautiful.
Thank you.
I want to confront the haters from Famestick episode last week.
You don't need to.
Guys.
Because I agree with them.
I read your comments, and I am holding space for you supporting Evan,
but you have to understand when Evan comes for my mother,
I'm going to be upset.
And not your actual mother.
You wouldn't care about that.
Because Lena is perfect, and I have no notes on that woman.
But ultimately, to truly understand someone is to see their flaws as well,
and it's okay to speak about one's flaws,
because it actually shows a deeper level of intimacy.
And my point specifically about Famestick and my relationship with Lena
was that discovering more details of her life,
even though I held her as an idol in my life,
upon any relationship, more details only complicate it further.
I mean, there's more things for me to love about her,
as I. Dive into her nuance.
But also, the same thing can be said about things I find difficult about Lena.
And ultimately, those inform what makes her personality it is,
and what makes her a talented artist.
But at the same time, those can be trying.
And that's kind of like what the point.
I think I was trying to get across.
And also about expectations of watching Lena's work,
and where she landed.
Because, I mean, I thought there was a different trajectory,
and we landed on something else,
which is fine.
I love the book.
Famestick was fantastic.
It wasn't what my expectations were.
And that's what I'm holding space for.
And I'm holding space for the person in the comments that said,
we need to go to a team building retreat.
Get my ass.
It's so funny you call it team.
A team.
A team.
No, I love it.
And I'm feeling good when people said,
Amelia always brings the vibe down.
That's perfect for my five-year journal.
So always, please, like, feel free to say whatever in the comments.
Well, you need something to write.
Yeah, like, I need something to write about in my journal.
And I'm not dating anymore, so.
Oh, good.
All 25, you filled it up?
I stopped at 12.
I said, I don't think it's them.
It's me.
No, and that's what always happens in the middle.
But sometimes you do have to power through.
You think I should go on 13 more dates, just to be sure?
Yes.
It is just like.
Well, because you made a promise to yourself,
and I just hate to see you break that promise.
It's just like, I deleted Hinge.
That's okay.
There's other apps like Bumble.
Totally.
You think I should pivot to Bumble?
Yes, please.
A girl can have some fun on Bumble.
Well, here's the thing.
You'll be shocked and astonished by how many people will say
they met their best friend on a dating app,
and the dating app is Bumble BFF.
Okay, the amount of people that say they met their friend on Bumble BFF
is shocking and appalling.
It's not appalling, it's just shocking.
It's appalling in the sense that Bumble is a dating app.
I have never heard anyone be like,
I met my partner on Bumble.
I've only heard of best friends on Bumble.
Bumble should be pivoting its brand identity to the best friend.
Well, they've also lost it in that space as well.
Oh, why?
It was because these friendships are very dated to like 2021.
It was very much people being excited post-COVID,
and the potential energy was turning into kinetic energy,
and sometimes that kinetic energy brings you to the app store.
I remember so vividly learning about potential energy
and kinetic energy in fifth grade in Miss Celie's class.
It feels like she was amazing.
This is for my throwback heads,
but Mrs. Celie was the teacher I had that was pregnant
but didn't tell us she was pregnant,
and she just would never cartwheel for us,
even though she said she'd cartwheel when we were good,
and I was like, are we really that bad?
She was the one who taught me about kinetic and potential energy.
And she was going to demonstrate it with her body,
but then she chose not to because of her pregnancy.
Pregnancy ruins like legit everything, by the way.
It's just a different battleground to cite ladies of London.
Okay, yeah.
All right.
I have a question about the housewives.
Well, ladies of London isn't necessarily housewives.
Okay, it's literally called Ladies of London.
Yeah.
And everybody who watches Housewives has also seen this,
and it's new or old.
It's the same premise, but it's not the housewives.
Oh.
It's a friend group in London.
I love that because then it's like their title isn't attached
to the fact that they are married.
Yeah, they all have once been married, except for Mark.
Oh, except for Mark?
Yeah, the gay guy.
But he was an inmate in Chelsea,
which is a UK programming that ran for about 12 seasons,
and he was the beloved character on there.
So they decided to import him to America.
Is the ladies of London, how old are they?
No, they're myriad ages, and that's why they're the ladies.
They're ladies.
They're, we're the ladies.
We're the, obviously, we're the ladies.
Yeah.
No, ladies of London is fantastic.
And our interview with Mark,
I really do have such a space for him in my heart.
He really helped.
Because of Ugly Buddy.
Yeah.
So did you watch it as a teenager,
and you were like, that's a gay guy?
No, I was late in life, Ugly Buddy.
Oh, late in life, Ugly Buddy?
Okay, so actually, I saw Ugly Buddy,
like anyone clips online on YouTube.
So I've always been familiar with it tangentially,
but I came to the full product later in life.
Like what time of your life?
There's, okay, so I've like definitely started in college,
but I always was aware of Mark on TV,
like playing Justin.
I was never unfamiliar with that character
because when you're on a sitcom that's nationally syndicated,
it's like you're going to run into it once or twice.
More than that.
When you're on a nationally syndicated sitcom,
you will run into the gay side character.
No, please.
Even if you don't watch the show.
That's textbook.
It just happens.
That's textbook.
Especially when it's that big.
Ugly Buddy was a-
Ugly Buddy was huge.
My mom watched it.
I know.
Fashion, I miss when fashion and comedy had an intersection.
They can't do that anymore.
They lost the space.
Well, now-
Well, it's funny because I do think-
Do you remember back to Hacks?
Actually, aren't they bringing fashion?
Hacks is all about fashion and comedy coming together.
Debra's always in an outfit.
Oh, no, no, no.
I'm not denying that comedians dress well.
I'm denying comedy-based fashion.
Like outfits aren't funny, but comedians are pretty?
So close.
We're going to get there.
Like comedy, that's based in the world of fashion.
Oh, you mean like the Devil Wears Prada too?
Yes, exactly.
I can't wait.
Well, it's just coming back.
But because we saw such an insurgence of comedies based in industry that-
Like with the other two, with Hacks.
With the studio.
But we haven't gotten girl who works at Fashion Magazine in a little bit of time.
Right.
And it's because I also think that fashion-
Because there wasn't as many comedies, if any at all, I guess, other than if you consider-
If you laughed at Entourage, I guess, I didn't have that experience.
Right.
I've never seen Entourage.
If you were someone that laughed at Entourage, you could say, I guess, that's a comedy about
the industry.
But-
We have I Love LA now.
That's fashion and comedy.
but it's no but again it's not that's that's also the industry my point is that like there
was a lot of overlap between comedy and fashion world because what comedy strives in is specificity
and fashion it was so specific especially the world of fashion and the bold type if i can even
bring that up here it's all based around fashion you know this is a safe space to bring up the
bold type with megan fahey well exactly we've lost that space you know the bold type was the
first tv show it wasn't um the first tv show to ever be like we're gonna make toronto new york
city and no one's gonna catch us before fx's adults did it before overcompensating that well
they're on a campus but bite your word because they did not do it i'll tell you like it is clear
that it's toronto no they're in queens for sure that's why there's the canadian bank at the
corner are you talking about adults oh i'm talking about the bold type oh the bold type
supposed to be said for both the way the bold type was like this is union station the yellow
line well they're always like running to a matcha uh matcha lata a place that it's my new business
what's a matcha lata i meant uh matcha fall and they're always running to a matcha fall and being
like we love it here it's always a tim's horton yeah that'll happen i love the bold type they
don't really were bold they nobody talks about tim hortons doesn't really happen here but duncan
happens here in a way that it doesn't in la well they have tim hortons in my hometown you know
duncan's was like a joke in my town like the fact that all my friends are getting a cold brew at
duncan like once a week would shock teenage me because i remember my senior year i got a gift
card to duncan and i was like why would a girl like me ever go to duncan like no one goes to
duncan and then i move here 10 years later all of a sudden duncan center of the universe everyone's
i feel like i was born in a duncan i discovered my sexuality there at least
you know it used to be duncan donuts it's listen to even question that i wouldn't know that is
crazy but then they dropped the donuts i won't drop the donuts though i pick i and if i do drop
it i do pick it back up and i put it right back in my mouth i'll tell you the thing is they dropped
it but then isn't their logo still dd yeah because it's our brand identity okay it's like girls
rewatch it's like hooters it's like girls rewatches email still being hbo girls rewatch
exactly yeah are you watching hacks be honest with me i don't know i don't know i don't know
am i watching hacks please i'm consuming it how about that i you said last week's episode was
your favorite episode three yeah but i and you have an amazing joke where you go oh when i go
to movies i always base my letterboxd review on how i felt during it like i got a weird email and
then i gave it a one star you read my sub stack now literally no but that's like a stand-up joke
that you have too oh well um i always rate it five stars because i had an amazing time exactly
i have a sub stack note that i posted this week where i was like i always rate a movie based on
how much fun the lead actress looks like she got to have yeah that's while filming it that's why
when i saw freaky or friday five stars because jamie lee curtis was having the time of her life
and we have to honor that no we have to honor that and i'm glad they did honestly because she
really does like to have fun and that's why when she taught the meditation course at south by
southwest i believed in her now i need to go to reiki
you need to go to her our dear friend from college reiki yeah racy your friend from college
our dear friend from your college anyway i love that girl whenever she posts on instagram which
is only like she's one of those cool girls that only posts like once every four months
and she's always like i think she just forgot the password honestly she's always just like
cheersing or like you know like had a glass of wine in a chic outfit being in grad school i'm
addicted to girls that are like chic like that you know she's gonna go to cancer alley now
to help people reclaim their land because in louisiana when someone dies sometimes you
actually don't get the land even if it's in the will because it's on a napoleonic law system
and what that just translates to is complicated mama so she's going to a place called cancer
alley which is between baton rouge and new orleans and there's a ton of chemical plants
just leaked into the soil so everyone there kind of gets the cancer unfortunately so she is gonna
be she's reclaiming land in cancer alley she's pulling an aaron brockovich if you will she's
doing a lot she's an amazing girl yeah i like i'm obsessed with what she's doing with her georgetown
law degree i have to say like when a girl just like does something good for the planet and has
awesome friends and loves her life i'm like very inspired and moved no i it but these girls they
work hard and they have to end up in some of the scariest places you've ever heard well this is my
thing is like i thought like you could only be like miserable new york girl or like a wife in
texas right now and a mother and then your friends present me
with a secret third option yeah because here's the thing people forget that there's um there's
there's this area of knowledge called stem and people really love to stay in the humanities but
when girls work in stem they get to do everything i think i should work in stem and move to denver
no i think my life might be better if i move to colorado i think all good millennials when they
die they get to go to denver wait how is renee rap we haven't heard from her in months i i think bad
it seems really she didn't get what she wanted from her album and that can take a lot of
a blonde well you know what like chapel roan said she was only really she's going lord with it where
she's only releasing once every four years but we're coming up on four years yeah but she said
she just started the process like this year oh of her four-year process well at least we're getting
olivia and ariana yeah please did you see ariana it's gonna be called pedal i think that'll be
interesting that girl the things she can work into her schedule because to go ahead and do
meet the fokker spinoff and then also to release an album the same year ariana grande
is in a meet the fokker spinoff right now there's an amazing name to the movie i cannot remember
that's crazy that sounds like you made that up for bad libs well girl look at these lips because
they are gonna see something mad again she's amazing in it you've seen it already you can
tell a lot from a trailer you can tell a lot from you can i had to prep for this episode i watched
all the hacks trailers the way i was like deeply moved and literally thought to myself god who's
whoever edited these is amazing at what they're doing well and one thing i want to say about hacks
is that i wish i could talk about the culture of they're kind of doing this now but las vegas
since the beginning of hacks to the end of hacks has had one of the largest shifts in america
because the post-covid economy across the whole united states is catering towards the upper
echelon like the top 10 of america because i have 50 of the buying power now and that means
the whole strategy of las vegas has completely shifted which had been as more democratized
version where anyone with some income could like play inside a space and there was much more of a
level system but now they only really cater towards the high fluting um and this is also
really emulated in their strategy of just they really go after like higher hands in poker now
and like so much money at um at these casinos it's the loss of the middle class yeah it's the
loss of middle class and it's like really embolized in
las vegas i mean so we're just like paul lucia general why didn't we talk about this it's funny
and it's way like the f1 race maybe maybe they will talk about it i know because you know what
zebra is so that yeah like that she is the upper echelon of las vegas but like her fans and the
people that go see her are like the other thing and wilson's trying to buy that casino right now
yeah so maybe that'll be like the exact culture inaccessibility thing because it really is the
epitome of it i mean like even there's something so funny to happen in las vegas where
they had the f1 race you know f1 girl or do you know tate mcrae i know tate mcrae okay so she did
this amazing collab with this organization called f1 is that f1 racing yes okay so there's actually
an f1 racing center near my hometown and it's brought in a lot of money for the local economy
no because it it caters again to like the upper echelon but they built the now echelon
how do we think we spell that word sound off in the comments that's what they're there for
uh but they built the arena nobody says echelon every day they built f1 for what for why built
the f1 arena in the middle of las vegas oh to try and help with rich people so literally on
the main strip in las vegas they kind of like shut down that road and they built the f1 stadium
but because it's situated between all the casinos people would have a direct
vantage point into the arena so they covered everyone's windows i wasn't paying for the f1
races so while you're walking down the main strip in las vegas they which is underneath the arena
because it is covering literally the whole street they cover every single aspect of it so you cannot
peer into it so they of course want to like preserve the nature of this expensive event
and like for a specific audience oh my god isn't that crazy you know what like you remember learning
about feudalism like in school and the past and stuff and you're like things were so like unjust
and inequality was rampant back then i can't believe how did these people live and now it's
like every day of my life i'm like we it's all a circle and we're in it right now hello we're in
the circle i'm like are we uh i don't think that's marcus that sounds so stupid to say out loud kind
of no i love that because you know
Sometimes they say that if you're able to explain something simply,
truly know it okay well before we talk to our favorite twink how would you define a twink
so a twink to me is somebody i'm naturally attracted to before i can put words to why
i just feel a magnetism and then it's usually like a guy who knows a lot about pop stars
and loves their mom and um definitely grew up trying to be a people pleaser yeah but are using
guy like gender neutral or guys and gender so you want me to answer the question are twinks boys
yes to me twinks are boys yeah i don't think girls are twinks i think like girls can be twinks
i just to me no girls are ever twinks well okay i i even would take it further like objectively
i also think buildings can be twinks okay so you're going straight to building
truly it goes boy or girl or building first off have you seen ellen like that is a twink
ellen
ellen is not a twink that is a lesbian i just think to say that women can be twinks
i think it's um it's not misogynist to say women are twinks no but it is it is misogynist to say
women are twinks no it's actually no not at all you're saying that women don't have their own
thing and we do both can be true labels don't have to be prescribed to one specific gender idea
what is a girl twink to you give me 10 examples girl twink and i have to give you
10 yeah 10 is a lot but also doable for someone like me okay let's hear it first off hallie berry
she's got the je ne sais quoi of a twink the girl who played the little mermaid second off the writer
of heated rivalry i think twink is mentality and the bi woman married to a guy yes she's a she's
a mentality of a twink she thinks and acts like one and by the way she made the most iconic twinks
in our culture right now and you think a woman who wasn't a twink couldn't do that okay okay
third woman coming to mind i even would say deborah vance
deborah vance is not a twink her need to constantly say relevant is twinkish behavior
deborah vance is a top twinks can top see that's a different label i didn't even know about that
that's a different label twinks can top i thought their whole thing was they shouldn't but they can
do they only bottom with or do they only top with other twinks no they can do whatever they want
oh my god i know so it's like you didn't even know here's the thing you came into a fight you
were not prepared for and i'll keep going we're inside a twink right now the world trade center
i mean look how empty it is inside girl twinks are that empty because of recent workplace
dynamics and culture shifts i just there's not a single person in here
that's like a twink completely who's a girl in our that we know personally that is a twink
like who's an everyday twink who's your who's our everyday twink yeah um like do you think i'm a
twink no no you're not a twink because you also reject the label okay and i think a big part of
twink is like saying you're a twink well i don't put it on someone that's my god-given gift but
everyone else doesn't really have that discernment i don't know any women who call themselves twinks
my bad yeah but the thing is like we have to let them know they can and then they might
it's up to us it's up to us in this podcast that's why we have a platform
girls rewatch podcast campaigns

on tv today oh my god
oh my god i would like love you so much this is kind of the best day of my whole life i'm so
happy like a big ugly betty girl so this is huge i mean anna and i do a podcast called
that we rewatch and you know talk about it and uh give like our our hot takes of like
behind the scenes it's beautiful we obviously the two of us hate it when actors do podcasts
about the tv shows they were on it should be done for people who've barely seen the show
it should be random girls doing it in brooklyn first of all uh it's cool that you're boots on
the ground with it what would you know how many seasons was ugly betty four okay so is this your
longest show to be with yeah oh my god but i got a lot more episodes yeah i mean i think that if we
did it in terms of streaming ugly betty would have been like eight or nine seasons because we did
like 24 episodes a year so i miss it i mean we always talk about that
check is what i miss totally i miss the chat but were you on set like every day of your childhood
um yeah pretty much yeah but i bet it was fun there yeah i mean like the homeschooling bit
was kind of weird because then when i actually went to school i like wasn't socialized and like
didn't like know how to talk to people like my own age were you like did you go to regular high
school um i went to performing arts school here in new york when we shot in new york and then
the show got canceled and i went to regular high school and i was like what
i don't like it that would be an amazing coming of age movie for teens
washed up child star goes back to real life it's like i'm just a kid in life it's a nightmare song
in the background i should write that what am i doing get out of here no i'm just playing a part
you're dressed up for it already i'm so sorry it took you seven years to get here i should have
told the king and queen of england to wait a second yeah i have to come to the girls rewatch
podcast like what are we doing yeah wait that is
so the king and queen for people that are just tuning in they're at one of the world trade

but now we're here finally and we can talk about hacks
um wait how are you feeling it's over i mean i feel like we knew that this was going to be the
last season so it wasn't yeah like it wasn't a surprise which i feel like like when ugly betty
for example it was a big surprise so we didn't get to like grieve the the process of it being over
like i feel like this this season season five of hacks we were like kind of grieving the whole time
of like and getting ready for the inevitable so that was really easy i think easier i mean and
then of course like my last day just completely unraveled i can't imagine that's such a tight
knit cast and you don't honestly you watch tv now you go i guess these people are our friends but
that that show it hacks you watching them they're
like our best friends yeah and we like i mean you know the the like it's proof positive especially
when we're in public together it's just like every picture of us we're like hanging all over each
other and so it's you know we're not beating those best friends
allegations right there's no hating each other allegations no exactly exactly well it's also
like paul lucia jen are besties they're besties too yeah so i mean it kind of that set the tone
and then yeah you know i mean everyone was just stoked to be there like and be funny and
yeah do the best that we possibly could and you did it did you did you audition during covid or
what was the journey of getting the role yeah i just went and uh i think i was correct i don't
know if this is correct but i think i was pretty much the last person cast because i did a zoom
with paul lucia and jen which was my audition and then 10 days later i was on set we were filming
the the you're in las vegas uh we were in la and then went to las vegas yeah that's so fun i would
like to get a job and then immediately start because if there's too much time in between i
would freak out i mean yeah you didn't know i didn't have any time to freak out and i also
hadn't worked in like
five six years like i haven't been like i haven't been on a set in years were you like being in
your 20s yeah i was i was at college so i was like you were having fun i was having a blast
i was having a blast that's actually really nice to hear yeah a lot of people don't even have fun
in college i mean i didn't a lot of like but a lot of child actors don't go to college and then
they're and then they're not able to work anymore they're not getting hired and it's like they don't
have any other skill set right and you might have a market
i'm like what did you study in school um international relations and foreign policy
my god naturally i would have guessed that that's number one of course i mean i went i went to nyu
being like i'm gonna do fashion journalism because life is going to imitate art whoa and then i was
like okay no what am i doing here wait where was your focus in um my focus was in uh u.s media
so i focused on the bush years and like i watched a lot of fox news you should go more you went way
too general with it yeah i should have gone more specific i went to gallatin so everyone was like
studying like the color purple right not the play so not the play well that would need a master's
degree as well yeah that is some big stuff i mean you were basically a girl during girls that's i
was in fact oh my god i was i was well we
have an amazing question to ask you girl what girl are you
i really like i think i'm probably i'm probably a jessa yeah yeah you look cool in that way i
think i'm probably well i think or maybe i want to be a jessa but i'm really like a shoshana
no i can see a jessa for you i feel like i'm i want to be that's that's who i would think i am
there's questions you would have to ask you off
to confirm that of course but it's kind of like it's like it's like when you're like asking what
which like sex in the city girl you are it's like everyone like i don't want to be carrie
yeah you know what i mean it's just like everyone wants to be shosh but then it's like
to be jessa you did it yeah you know what i mean i mean i mean it's not it's as of course like it's
thrust upon you that's right yeah i mean we don't have a choice in who we are right so let's just
it's so beautiful and then i love when they're like that like when we have queer people in the
show i love to ask gay what gay are you and if there's a specific gay in media that feels that
you really feel attached i mean and also you've played so many amazing gay guys so you can of
course i just pick one of my characters one of the gay guys you've played one of the gay guys that i
played um well definitely not damien i'm he's way too high strung for me yeah he seems stressed he's
really stressed i mean look at his boss yeah jesus
what kind of gay i mean i would want to be like like an anderson cooper gay you know what i mean
but i just don't think that that's true i'm probably like god sorry it's a hard question
do you connect with elijah or no sorry elijah from girls do you feel like i could i feel like
that that would make sense for me that can make sense for me yeah i don't know because sometimes
a lot of the gays these days are really annoying the living shit out of me so just period no and
listen we concur like for example like on ladies of london wait really are you kidding i like mark
mark another mark no when the in the beginning of the season i was like i don't know if i could
do this and then really do you just hate him because he's mark and he's stealing your thing or
maybe subliminally yeah wait that's so funny i i think he's so charming i think that by the end
of the season i was very i was like um i felt good about who's the woman going after him
uh margo well i love that name well if you met margaret you wouldn't love her you wouldn't yeah
you'd second you'd second guess such a sexy name it's a sexy name just not on this margo okay
when money found her she did not find a personality that is correct it's been really hard for her
and her story is crazy what's her story that she like did this film in like in england that went
to can but they they weren't simulating sex like they were actually having sex and he like
they actually were having sex and he was like i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know
and they were basically like the girls were like that's porn like you did porn you know and she was
like it's not porn it's art it went to can and you know oh my god i mean the jury's still on what on
what we call that it was like a big deal back in the day because they never seen boobs on movies
before and then she was kind of the first one to do it in the uk so she was deemed this lot of the
she was the first girl to do boob on movie uh-huh and that's actually why the queen are here today
oh my god that is kind of radical people were scandalized yeah
normalized it no i know and i i'd like it has to tie with the king and queen
they've heard about this movie that's why they're here that's why they're here that's why they're
here they're talking about ladies of london no one would tell us it's of course this it's great
we have they're actually gonna be at the chairs that watch what happens could you imagine in that
tiny little studio it's just like you just see camilla come on it's in the back camilla will
kind of eat no i think she's meant for that she really is the bartender
i'm one of the main guests and the queen is standing behind the bar
having a little tipple if you want i do one thing we know about her she does not have a lot to say
she does not so maybe the bartender is probably a better role it's a look space thing
beautiful wait so we have to talk about damien okay what do you think about him we are cruising
i think that he's i think he's really good at his job you know what i mean and i think that like
because he's very good at his job he's very high strung about it and i loved like in season two
when he's just like i don't like comedy so he's like he's like not a fan of deborah vance but like
he's a fan i think of like her business acumen yeah but i don't think that he's like a fan of
comedy and i find that to just be funny because everyone else is so like foaming up a mouth yeah
yeah yeah well it's nice to live in that world because he comes as a professional and he shows
up that way and in season five damn is he a professional he's a professional he's a professional
professional he is you're like the king of one-liners thank you like i i didn't write him so
episode three delivered that's hard no you said this line in episode three that was so good where
you just go yes oh and it's so good when you say yes yeah i i think it's because hannah was like
did you know about this yes and then you're like yeah yeah i mean the fun the i think the most fun
i had this season was filming the um the convention stuff where i'm like yelling at the
people with the taser and stuff that was that was like really fun to shoot um did you guys shoot
that at a marriott where was it we shot i honestly think it was a marriott i love marriott those are
my favorite i think that it was at the marriott in universal city she knows a marriott when she
sees yeah i'm like i know about them you know about a marriott convention center auditorium
that's so fun but it was like probably a bajillion extras and like it was definitely i mean it's like
a long it's a long day because you just have
there's so many like there's so many small little vignettes that you have to do but everyone is so
even the even the some of like the guest stars that they bring in that only have like one line or
whatever um they're just all so funny oh my god they're all so brilliant like the guy that's like
yelling at her being like you're a lizard like he's just like so funny so that was that was fierce
well they played a lizard bit well too like they bring they bring in a character even though he's
really keep touching upon him yes upon the episode it doesn't matter if i'm a lizard or not like
please help me sell msg that's right yeah we don't care yeah you're gonna go ahead and go do it it's
fun they they know how to build character it's so that improv background we definitely and we got
like a lot of opportunities to improvise and like by improvise i mean even just like just adding
stuff in and filling the space and i just felt like there was a lot of freedom that we had to
like move through this like spaces and talk and and kind of be talking over one another if you
know there was something really fun um about that because and everyone i was so intimidated when we
started because i was like a lot of people come from like an improvisational background right um
stand up you know right i'm like i i come from a world where it's like you say your line
and i wait right and then i say mine and i read what's on that paper and they're
like i zip zaps up for years before i got here no no no no no no i mean and sometimes like
lucia or or paul or whoever was directing was like yeah just throw
something in here mark and i'm like literally throw something in here i don't know about all
that thank god by season three by season three i was like you're like i think i get it i think i
get it then i was doing a little too much they're like all right you're like reel it in
that's fun i'm just glad to get to see you do your international studies degree at work
that's it really comes forward in the show thank you
i don't even think it would work if you didn't have that degree i mean i you know what you're
probably right yeah did you understand the global temperature of every room you step into
you know what i'm gonna put that in my instagram bio i understand the temperature come on and your
snapchat bio all the above snapchat are we still using snapchat well first off what are you using
all right all right i was hoping i could get away with it i can't um i don't know my mom just got
on snapchat because that's the way another platform's back she can see exclusive content
from this girl who like
farms horses or something okay you know yeah she's not sending racy photos to like young men
no thank god but that'd be like a cool arc for my mom particularly well maybe when she gets a bio
she can start yeah yeah god forbid um well okay sorry we're going all over the place i just if we
talk upon like justin as a character and ugly betty for a second i mean as someone coming like
of my own age around the time justin was on tv
it really is this character emblematic to more feminine young gay character on tv which hadn't
been touched upon at the time and subsequently felt like still feels a bit tropish when done
compared to how you were able to portray justin and how the writers were where we really i mean
like the attempt in the beginning was like an it's a very earnest portrayal but it's still
like the comedic fact where it's like gay son running around house cutting up a dress and or
it's like an old bag and then turning it into right hot couture but it's like but then we get
to see justin build as a character throughout all four seasons it's something wonderful yeah and he
came out at such young age but i remember getting also like so upset at a young age being like i
can't like like because it triggered to me the concept of like someone feminine at a young age
like on tv i mean honestly like me too yeah even playing it i mean i think that there's obviously
so much shame that we felt around
especially during that time like historically around our own queerness and what that looked
like and it was it was you know no one we didn't want to be found out you know and there's it's
kind of like at the time it was like getting pantsed or something you know what i mean like
it was just a slushy yeah and so i feel like that was interesting to play it was interesting to see
the ways in which like the media talked about it because i felt really protected making it but
the media at that time were able like you could never do what they did to me then
because like of like sexualizing a child you know what i mean because they justin was obviously
gay the whole time but you can't like thrust that upon an 11 year old child right you know
what i mean and and speculate about an 11 year old child's sexuality like that's
perverted you know what i mean and so but they were i mean that's exactly what was happening
um and so i think that it was just because you know they just hadn't seen it before yeah well
it's so i mean but also the the fun part about justin is that there are so many i mean maybe
this is a bubble in brooklyn thing but i mean there are so many children coming out at such
young ages now i mean it's it's just that is but but i think that it's also just even looking at
you know like aunt my best friend anna who played hilda's kids who are now 14 and 16 is that you
know and and you know listen they do live in los angeles so there is more of like that bubble that
you're talking about but even when they were little kids it's just the idea of same-sex parents
right was just never it just never crossed their minds that that was taboo at any kind of time
correct even today you know but when we were growing up like i mean i just and i like growing
up outside of philadelphia like that was not something that you saw or even thought was like
you know okay
or or possible you know uh and so i think that there's an element of that for sure now that
we've come so far we've obviously regressed a lot as a culture and in a lot of ways but i think that
there was there was a time where we were really kind of pushing forward at at a high speed i mean
you were right there i really miss being hopeful about things the cynicism is just always jumping
now obama come back no like literally and i feel like that's also a great part of being
a fan of hax because i do think it embodies both like the actual reality of even what the media
landscape looks like but also politically and then at the same time to bring in these progressive
challenging beliefs in such a comedic way that yeah anyone watching it i ultimately you will
walk away with a laugh in your your mouth and a new hope in your heart a laugh in your mouth and
a hope in your heart we always say that that's i mean and it's true that's the truth i mean and
also hax is just like the queerest show ever it's just like so gay in a way that's like it's not even
a talking point it's that's what i mean it's just i and then and that's so cool like i'm just so
because i'm so over like the coming out story like i just think it's like oh give it up delicious
like it's so tired you know well the hard part of hax ending is there isn't a natural filler at
this point i mean at the point that hax began the other two had ended which was kind of the show
the gay girl community and hax has a similar sensibility but as hax ends i mean there's shows
like i love la and overcompensating but it's not necessarily the same mark we have a question it's
like who is gonna make the next show for girls and gay guys um i don't know you know i really do feel
that like i mean paulucci and jen aren't stopping making things so right they were hinting at they
have seven deals going on they've got a lot going on and i and i can't
imagine i don't know exactly what it is that they've got going on but i can't imagine that
there's queer that there's like some queer coded situation going on i can't imagine that
queer enough let's go straight heteronormative there's just no way that they're not doing queer
shit you know what i mean um so i don't know i guess that we can wait and see what they're doing
because i feel like because i see i see them not stopping doing that we're gonna be waiting for
anything else so at least i'm also like wait what are you guys doing
doing yeah wait are you are you i'm unemployed right now are you feeling chill about being

somebody asked me how i define myself and i didn't know what to say
because how can someone be defined when we're always evolving i've been so many things
i'll be so many others
because identity is not a performance it's an exploration never the same
but always the same
that's myself that's the paradox paradox intense and the new sweet chemistry by prada
no i'm planning i'm planning my wedding right now and so i'm just kind of like
that it's coming at a really kind of inopportune time you're getting married i'm getting married
everyone's getting married your pr girls surprised me she said yeah my husband i said oh my god i know
everyone's getting married i mean we we got engaged after like i like proposed him after
like a month of being together we're like crazy oh my god it was almost like it was like lesbian
coded yeah one month one month we've been together for almost two years you hauled yeah we you hauled
it what what made you do that were you just like well this is right and was like oh shit i like
and and he's not an actor he doesn't work in the entertainment industry like that those are two
huge deal breakers those were big deal breakers like dating another actor tried it hated it
i'm not an actor i'm not an actor i'm not an actor i'm not an actor i'm not an actor i'm not an actor
not enough room i have to be i have to be the shiny thing did you get proposed to or did you
propose i proposed to him oh my god yeah on a knee and everything on a knee but we were like in my
bedroom like before he like what is now our bedroom and we were like in sweatpants and like watching
tv and i was just like i love you and he was like okay me too like what and i was like no like
like i love you and then my dad's wedding i had i've had my dad's wedding ring for a long time and
so that's the ring that he has oh my god and i got down on one knee and everything and then he left
it he left it in our bedroom like the next day because he thought that i was joking he said yes
back as a joke yeah no he's like i gotta go to bed he's like of course i'll marry you and then
i like woke up the next morning he had gone to work and i was like why didn't you wear the ring
and he was like oh my god oh you're being like dead ass serious i was like what are you proposing
yeah like what are you saying of the yes
like what damn that would devastate me i'd definitely post on close friends instagram
story about that i mean everyone thought that we were joking there's such a funny picture of
um a couple of my friends like finding out and they're literally like
leaning across the table like what
no one knows him so I mean but the thing is
Amelia would post on her close friends if she woke up
on the right side of the bed
we were always timing people being like look
there's no weight to it
they were like okay guys
I mean the big question is
what possible show were you watching
at the time
we were probably watching some kind of Real Housewives
situation I mean I was probably indoctrinating him
already like into like old New York
and I was like Ramona and
Ramona and Sonya are drunk in the Turks and Caicos
this is the moment
you probably watched Luann get married in a week
so you're like I can do that too please
I mean you know Luann married the count
after two weeks
I'm hoping our wedding I'm hoping that our marriage
lasts longer than Tom
are you going to get married at a beach
no we're getting married at Ana Ortiz's house actually
oh my god
we're doing like a backyard cutesy
I'm glad you're not bringing like any industry
and Jean Smart is marrying us
shut up
she's ordained
she got it
she got ordained for this
oh my god
I think it's a sidebar
I think it's like online 10 seconds
oh yeah yeah I've done it
I'm like so she went to Gallatin for marriage
she went to marriage
she went to Gallatin for priesthood
that's amazing
that's huge
she'd be great at that I bet
I feel like she's going to be really great
I feel like if her stand up training for Hacks
is any consolation right
yeah
yeah it's very Liza Minnelli on the Sex and the City marriage
oh my god yeah
and then Jean doesn't
Jean doesn't do it
Jean doesn't do it
Jean doesn't do it
single ladies
Jean what's it like working with her
she's the best
she's the best
and she's just like a master of her craft
she's just so good
I mean I have a hard time remembering my lines
and I'm 31
I mean that woman
and they like throw
they like throw shit at her
you know what I mean
and she's just like
okay
and then just
I'm like
how do you
it's masterful to watch
it really is
I love that
it's really
it's like actually making me nervous
to hear how talented
she is
I was nervous to meet her too
because it's like
you know
I mean she's Jean
fucking smart
well you're almost in every frame she's in
just like right to the right
right to the right
holding something
holding a bag
you with that giant wine bottle
I said
is no one gonna mention this
no one is gonna mention the wine bottle
I'm alone in my house
I'm like so no one pointed that out
so no one's been talking about
that gigantic wine bottle
I was like
so what are we doing with this
after we wrap it out
right
you know
I'm just glad
they can bring prop comedy into it
oh man
it was
I mean Meg with all of those bags
it was so funny
no we
when you guys were shooting in New York
our friends work at a building
that was right next to it
so we were getting so many
like videos sent to us
oh yeah
I was like
what are they all carrying over there
it was
it was so interesting
because we just didn't really think
that anyone would care
that we were shooting there
and there were like
substantial amount of people
like just like
people like this show
I'm like
where do you think your base is
a queer comedy on HBO
I'm like
you got two to three cities
you're in Midtown baby
exactly yeah
we're in
we're in one of the three
wait you
are you guys going to Paris
later in the show
we're only three ups
in at this point
I don't go
you don't go
then that's all that matters
I don't go
is there
we have to wrap up
but is there anything
you can hint to everybody at home
about like
what to look forward to
how to get through
kind of this ending
it wraps
I think it wraps up
a lot of things
like in a bow
and I think that
but not
not in like a cheesy way
like I really think that
it
it
it
it feels
open ended
at the end
between Debra and Ava
but in a way
where
like
everyone's gonna be okay
yeah
you know
but not in a way
where it's like
happily ever after
but
I think that
this season is truly
as every season is
but
really hammers home
like just
the friendship
between Debra and Ava
and how strong it is
and how much
and just
they kind of go through
this full circle
like journey
I was scared
that it was gonna be them
in a fight every episode
but it is like
no they're besties
they're besties
they're besties
and they fight
you know
they're besties that fight
you know
they're like
I mean they're like sisters
you know what I mean
and like in such a
kind of crazy way
and like that's what
it's been building up to
for five
for five years
and I think that they're
I don't know
I don't know what to hint
because I hate
I hate hinting at it
because I just like
just fucking watch it
it's gonna be amazing
God forbid
we got seven more weeks
you know
oh it really does
break my heart
it's ending
but you know
it breaks my heart even more
that this episode's ending
thank you for being on
love you guys
it's just so fun
I could sit here
and talk to you all day
what do you mean
it's the best time
I'm kind of heartbroken
but obviously

and I'm
no I'm pleased
I believe that as well
I mean
you're gonna jump
into that car
that was a fight girl
please
thank you guys for having me
I love this
this was so much fun
