SimpliSafe introduces a proactive home security solution that uses AI-powered cameras and live agent intervention to deter intruders in under 30 seconds, offering real-time protection starting at around $1 per day. Their outdoor plans begin at $49.99 monthly, with a special 60% discount available for new customers. Complementary promotions include Mint Mobile’s $15/month wireless plan with no store experience, Shopify’s free $1/month trial for small businesses, and Experian’s subscription cancellation service to reduce financial stress. A disturbing real-life incident involving a man named Paul Weir, who shot and killed two people at his home, underscores the urgency of preventive security and community awareness. The case reveals no clear motive, though his prior mental health history and legal issues suggest possible underlying factors. The narrative blends product promotion with emotional storytelling, highlighting both technological innovation and human vulnerability in the face of crime, while encouraging proactive safety measures through accessible, affordable solutions.

All right.
They need us to the victim.
Yeah, we're gonna make them mad.
Should be original address. Let me check.
Have we cleared over here?
We haven't went nowhere yet.
I don't know if there was multiple shooters or if we just had one.
I kind of want to clear this house to make sure there's nobody in here.
Hold on a bit.

How close did he get to you? Was it whizzing by you? Yeah, I love it. We saw what happened. We'll be back with you in a minute. Thank you. Are you injured and do you need medical help? No, we're good. I just got ricocheted here. We got holes in our balls. We'll have the MS come by and check you out, alright? We're all good though. No, the MS is going to check you out. You got hit by a bullet, right? No, no, no. It was coming through the house. The glass was coming through the house.
I got ricocheted in my house where bullets went through.
He had more mags ready to go. He had a whole vest on like us.
He was shooting from there to that house. You see the bullet holes?
The only other angle was I shot from this truck.
Well, there's holes there, but I don't know if those. Well, that was the victims from him.
Get with everybody at this house. If there is anybody, I want you all to get all their names.
Do a walkthrough and see what damage. If there is damage, take pictures for me.
Okay. That's family member to deceased.
Okay.
Yeah, I could.
Was it both of them? Herbin and Debbie?
Do you know where they're going to be taking them? Are they going to be helping?
No!
Oh, my God.
Yeah, please.
Are you okay? And anybody with you okay?
Okay. That's all I'm making sure.
Matt, he's going to stand by with her. I'm going to give them some room.
And then they're going to get with me before they leave.
We're still trying to make sure this is secure.
Y'all only seen one shooter, correct?
That's the only one I've seen, but listening to it, it almost sounds like. Okay.
Thank you, folks, very much. I'm terribly sorry for the noise.
Can you tell me if the lady over here is gone or she's okay?
His mother's usually there.
Okay.
She's usually inside.
And his grandfather or his father drives a white Dodge Ram 4x4.
I don't know where he is at.
Okay.
Okay.
I think my shot, one of them hit him in the hip and one hit him right in the foot and he hit the ground.
Y'all wanted to hang out there?
I hope y'all want to survive that son of a bitch.
Do you know if he had any issues with anybody?
Somebody's been beating on her.
He's always shining the flashlights and stuff on her house, lighting it up, all kinds of junk.
Okay.
I'm in the CRS saying that the guy that was doing the shooting, they're from this yellow house.
His mom's usually there. Has anybody checked on her or checked that house?
Because they're saying that. She should be home, so he might have done something to her, too, and they were concerned.
All right.
It looks like they were just moving in.
Yeah.
Yeah, they said they've been working on this house for a couple of months.
They've never been through this stuff like this before, but, you know, at some point in time, they're going to swap your guns and stuff like that.
Just a little note, get all this out of there.
Okay.
Hey, all doors are locked.
We already checked, but. What?
I got the little note.
Okay.
Do you want to break it?
And listen, I'm proud of you.
I thank you.
I love you.
Love you.
Good job.
Thank you.
Always.
What's the back door?
Is that a door we can kick in?
I think so.
Let's check the back door, then.
Hey, hold it here.
I did.
Huh?
I did.
You did?
Yeah.
Okay.
Don't mess with me.
No, no, no, no.
It's yours.
It's yours.
Okay, here.
One confirmed around here.
It's a suspect's house straight ahead.
It sounded like fireworks going off.
Then he started again, and I could see him.
I didn't know what he was doing because he's kind of a loner.
Anyways, he was taking that gun, and he was going one tree,
and then he ran someplace else, and he was after somebody.
Maybe he was hallucinating. Maybe he was on drugs.
I'll pass the new mag.
I don't know where my mom's at.
Good idea. Put it in the freezer.
Hey, they want you to go check that house with the red car over there.
The red car?
Yeah, it's going to be on the other side of the street, so go over there.
See if there's any damage. Make contact with the people.
See if anything good names. All right?
All right. 2-4.
Appreciate you, man. Doing a good job, bro.
Where is that? Around my corner?
A what?
A bomb?
He was holding something in his pocket.
If you're saying it looks like a bomb, be careful.
I don't know if he's. I don't know if he's holding a detonator.
Where is it at?
There it pops up.
You can see it from the front windshield.
It doesn't get to the. He was holding. I swear he was holding something in his pocket.
Here we go, man. Just a second.
Possibly some homemade explosive on that black car, if y'all can hear me.
Did you see him holding that thing in his pocket?
Yeah, he was doing this.
I was scared he was going to let it go.
Yeah.
I don't know what's going to happen.
I heard two sevens in that house across the way.
I heard them say that.
Because that's where I saw him running from when I was getting my rifle out of the truck.
He probably shot at least 10 to 15 times before I came outside to see if they were okay on the porch.
My wife and him were in the yard.
I went to the back side when I first laid eyes on him.
That's when I hollered at him, getting you big, we're going to get out of here.
He probably shot 8 or 10 more times.
Then he ran back around on this side of the house.
Then he saw me standing at the back door and ran in the yard.
That's when he accurately turned and pointed to us.
I jumped back in the house and let him jump behind the tree.
I heard him shoot.
Then he come running back across the way.
That's when I see him squatting down over there reloading his clip.
He reloaded his clip.
He went back in that direction again in a shooting stance, running in a shooting stance.
It almost sounded like he was shooting at somebody over there and then shooting back.
I don't know.
It sounded like it might have been because of the echo coming off them buildings or whatever.
It almost sounded like it.
It sounded like two different calories at one time.
Okay.
But he was the only gunman that you've seen.
That's the only one I've seen.
Okay.
St. Lucie County Bomb Squad searched the car in residence and found no signs of explosives.
The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Paul Weir, was later airlifted to a regional hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his chin.
Shortly after his arrival by helicopter, Paul was pronounced deceased.
Tragically, Pervin and Debbie Evans were pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to family members, they had celebrated their first wedding anniversary three weeks prior to their murder.
Investigators were unable to establish a motive for the shooting.
Now, investigators couldn't find a motive for this attack, but when I looked into Paul's history, it gave me a little more context.
Back in 2004, he was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery, grand theft auto, and ag assault.
Those cases were eventually dismissed after he was found incompetent to stand trial for reason of insanity and involuntarily committed to a mental health facility.
He'd been living with his parents ever since, and according to his father, he may have even stopped taking his medication.
Now, listen.
There's a difference between an explanation and an excuse.
His history may give us some context for what he did.
But it doesn't excuse what he did.
But there's actually something else I noticed watching this.
The neighbors.
They're checking on each other, worried about each other, and they're grieving together.
And I was thinking about that because when something like this happens right outside your front door,
or sometimes the person you end up leaning on is the person living right next door.
Traditional home security only alerts you after a break-in, and that's too late.
