(upbeat music) - Sup, giggler. - Gary, fix your Wi-Fi. - Manifest that shit. We can't be manners. (laughing) - I'm in the day just got away from me. - Hello my giggly pigly wigglies. I'm currently in Vegas, about to present at the AMA Awards with the queen. Lisa, right now I've never met her before. I know her daughter, but I've never met the queen. So hopefully I don't say anything weird or awkward, but we'll let you know. Next episode, how that goes. We have a very special episode for you today. It took a lot of back and forth to get permission to post this, but we were able to get the footage from our interview with Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling, and Brenda Song from our live show that we did. Now this is not a normal giggly squad live show. We didn't have guys on stage calling them trash. This was an interview we did at the Netflix as a joke festival, and we're just so happy that we can share it with everyone who wasn't able to make it that day. So I'm going to shut up and let you guys enjoy the live show. (cheering) - Hello. - Woo. - Wait, guys, I forgot I love Tours. - She loves Tours. (cheering) - I'm two beta blockers deep, so let's fucking. - She's come. (cheering) - She's a basher head through all. - What is up LA? (cheering) - Okay, before we bring out our amazing guests, I just have to tell a really quick Hannah story because she's been torturing me all day. - I thought you were going to say, "Year." - I was, I honestly was. Okay, so Monday, we're at my apartment, right? We're getting our nails done. We're having a very cute best friend day. I say, "Hanna, what are you wearing Friday night "to do our interview?" She was like, "Oh, I want to dress like really cool. "I just want to wear capris and like a windbreaker." And I was like, "Great, where did you order the windbreaker from?" And she said, "Fashion Nova." No shade, no hay. - No shade, no tea. - I said, "Kate Hudson's going to be on a fucking stage. (laughing) "I need you to lock eyes and get it together." (laughing) I'm a good friend, I go upstairs, I get my YSL windbreaker. - You believe devil words prodded it? - I say, "You can wear that Saturday night." A couple of days goes by, we're in the airport, we're on our way to LA. We had something in the morning. I said, "Hanna, what are you wearing "to brunch tomorrow morning?" She goes, "Oh, YSL windbreaker." (laughing) She also has to record a podcast. I go, "What are you wearing to the podcast?" She goes, "Oh, YSL windbreaker." She's been wearing the same fucking outfit all day. I literally want to kill myself. (cheering) She looks stunning, she looks gorgeous. I said, "Swedie Magoo, if you sweat in my YSL windbreaker, "I will kill you." I was like, "I'm getting my money's worth." And she's like, "I paid for it." (laughing) No, I'm asleep in this. I'm not taking it off. You're never letting do me anything, guys. You're never doing it. You guys also, we've never done a show like this before. It's gonna give Barbara Walters realness. What man, just spoke of. - Yeah. (laughing) - Is your handler with you? - Yeah. I love the Walters, it's so cute. It's so like, I was gonna say cute. That's not the right word. I mean, sophisticated. - Sophisticated. So we have three superstars that we're interviewing about. You guys know, we don't interview. We've never, we've never asked a question and listened to the answer. (laughing) This is gonna be so, so, so fun. I hope they remember that they're coming out because they probably left. They could have left. They're like, "What are they talking about on stage?" So this is such an honor for us to be interviewing the women. - Okay. Power points ready, perfect. Download it. - That was awesome. - That was Mindy Kaylee being like, "I'm out." (laughing) Those numbers here. - That was Mindy Super, I was about this. - I want you guys to put your hands together. I want you to go fucking crazy for the cast of Running Point and creator of Running Point. Give it up for Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaylee. (cheering) (cheering) - Like what? Like what? Anyway, oh my gosh. Barbara Walther's Realness, here we go. - I have to figure out a sit in this dress. - I'm just seeing your shoes for the first time. Those are incredible. - Wait a minute, can we do the first title on it? - Judcing, can you give a little review? - You have the looks. - I'm obsessed with everything. - This skirt is so good. - I don't know how to sit in that. - You're perfect. - But it's fashion. - Yeah, right? - You can stand the whole time if you want. - I can't. - Brenda said she wore a very giggly squad coated outfit and I feel like she nailed it. - Can I just say we had to dress up because this fucking audience, I was driving in and it was just like, little clicks of hot baddies. - It's the hottest girls ever. - Night out, like Korea town just turned into Vegas. Like everyone looks so-- - And they're like doctors and lawyers. - Yeah. - And they just look like hot sluts. - We're so biased, but they're hottest, smartest, funniest people in LA here. - I rolled on the window and took a selfie with my friends that slid their way in. (laughing) - Get out of here right now! (laughing) - Sorry. - We don't do that. This is a naked squad show. This is in conversation with important people. We don't do that anymore for professionals. - We've actually, this is the first day we're meeting these three, so we're a little star struck right now. And we wanted to get you to know you guys a little better with the PowerPoint. - You weren't lying. - She said backstage, she's like, "We have a PowerPoint." I'm like, (laughing) - She was like, "Let's have a PowerPoint." - Well, we actually can't remember what's gonna happen if we don't have our visuals. - We're a visual learner. - I don't know how the sausage is made, but. (laughing) We're gonna ask you some important questions about the state of our nation. (laughing) - Okay. (laughing) (cheering) - Okay, so we're gonna show you different things, and you're gonna say if you like it, if you don't like it, and then we'll let you know if that's page or Hannah coded. - Okay. - This is how we're gonna really know who you are to your core. - Yeah. - So excited. - There's no wrong answers. - Ballet pink nails. It's kind of like, you get the same nail polish every single time. - What? - Yes. - Not every time. - Not every time, but it's your go-to. - I love. - Yeah, yeah. - It's easy guys. - It's our work. - I do it for work. - Okay. - So do you guys know the crazy nails? - I love crazy nails. - In the arts I did, and then I feel like we've all been shamed into doing neutral nails. - Yeah. - This is the Kate Middleton effect. - It's, you're not classy. I used to have like checkerboard nails when I was on the Mindy project, and then now I know. - It was like Keshe's time. Like yeah. - Bring back glitter. - Or like the French manicure where half the nail was the white part? - Yeah. - It's all white, and now I know that that's lame. I love a crazy nail. - Okay. - Okay. And we're gonna tell you guys what you are at the end. - Yep. - So. - Page is doing math in our head for the first time. (laughing) - Carry the one that was me and my wife. - That was me. - That was me. - Caught it's cheese. - Let's start with Mindy and go down. - I get the hype. I know that it's good to get protein this way. I don't fuck with Caught it's cheese. - In any form. - No, and I know you can make delicious pancakes and things like you can blend it up, put it in the freezer, put it in a smoothie. No, I put in your coffee. - Yeah, there's girls on tic-tac that like make bread out of it. - You're out of them, so do everyone. - Yeah. - I've tried, I'm Asian. The lactose intolerance, I can't. I've tried. (laughing) - I love Caught it's cheese. (cheering) - Also, by the way, I like to stand up during the show's page where I move. (laughing) - Girl after my own heart. - Okay. - Chandeliers. - 100,000%. - She loves the chandelier. - Love a good chandelier. - Love a chandelier. - Okay. - It's kind of a weird question. (laughing) - Crocs. Here's the thing. I haven't for gardening. My partner said he would never work crocs, and now he wears them all the time, everywhere we go, and I regret it so much. - Wait, I'm still not past the gardening part. - Yes, I love gardening. - I love gardening. - I love gardening. - A pro-credit. - A pro-credit. - And my kids love crocs, but I personally do not. - Well, we're crocs. - I am sexist. - I think women and children should be able to wear them, but we're like, - Yeah. - Save them. - They've been very sexist. - I'm telling them. - Mike Barrenholz wears crocs to the writers room? - Yeah. - I'm like, you should care more about what I think of you, sexually. (laughing) - Wait, I need to say that to people more. Like, you should care more about what I think of you, sexually. - See, I love his wife. I love his wife. I love that you don't know men can wear them. I'm sorry. - No. - I think every single one of them should be melted, and just put it like something else should be created. (cheering) - You're the worst shoes of all time. - Wait, how do you ever try it on, though? - I'm not gonna say I haven't worn them ever. (laughing) But I am not. It's a hard note for me. - See, I love crocs 'cause they are comfy, however, if you ever walk in an airport with crocs, you have really, no. - No. - Everyone's like, you know, - No, we have it. - No, we have it. - You don't think it's so.
and you could like tear an ACL? No, I don't go sport mode. - I just got boot up. - Why would you wear crocs when you have Birkenstocks? (audience cheering) Or Uggs? - That's so L.A. - Oh, okay. (audience laughing) - I'm like you never heard of Birkenstock. - Okay, okay. - No, this is not a body shame moment. This is about body positivity and finger positivity. (audience laughing) Do you have nubs? - Or do you have witch long fingers? Or do you have something in mischievous? - Okay, you didn't have that witch. - I have childlike hands, childlike hands. - I have like baby hands. - I have baby hands too. - It was Brenda, look at that rock. - Wow. - That is, that's nice. - What did I do wrong? - You really hold the microphone. - So you would classify yourself as having long fingers. - I have, I don't know what I'm. What are you? - You have nice hands, don't you? - You have long fingers. - Look at your feet. - You have no hands. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I told you, oh, I have nubs. - I, you have, oh, you have very long fingers. - I have long fingers. - Oh yeah. - But I have like orangutan arms. - Wait. - And I'll tell you why I did this. - Wait, so do I. - We did this. Kate and I did this thing to promote running point where we, the Dracula song, right? And so Kate was so cool and she walked into frame and she did the first line. And I came into my arms, we were singing. And I was like, my arms look so goddamn long. And then like immediately I read the comments where they're like, why are her arms so long? My knuckles were like dragging on the floor. And I thought I looked really cool. - But Mindy, you could done good basketball. - Pink, yes. Okay, that's it. - No, believe me. Okay. - You guys are a fantasy football. - I'm not allowed. - Oh, you get too competitive. - I'm not allowed. - You've been banned. - How you been banned? - Me too. - Me too. - Not allowed. - Who, who is, what? - Okay, that's, it's like a doorbell. - I think it's your email. - It's me. - I'm like a boomer with a phone. And I don't know what's going on. So you were banned because what did you do, Brenda? - I already care too much about football. And so I can't have added stakes. I have children. I have a life, it runs my whole life. It's like I will be just stat reading all day. We already have a rolling TV just for sports. It's a problem. I'm not allowed. - A rolling TV. - We have a rolling monitor just for sports. - Women and stuff. (audience cheering) - Like in your house. - And you roll it around to different rooms. - Well, because also when our kids, so we try to limit screens with our kids. So if they want to watch something, they have to share the big TV. And if they're sharing the big TV and a game is on, mom and papa roll up their TV. And the kids know that that TV is just for sports. - Oh my gosh. - Is it on Sundays? - We watch the local game and then we have our Sunday ticket on the rolling TV. - You run a tight chip. I guess we did. - Do you-- - That's gonna see football? - I didn't know. (audience laughing) - I just dare you ask me that question. - I am so offended. - No, I just, I don't have, I have no interest. And I don't know. What about you? - I have, yeah. I have, but I get bored like halfway through the season. I'm like, I don't want to watch all the games. - Oh. - Well, no, I like my teams. And then I'm like, oh god, it's so-- - I can't watch all the time. - I hate my games, I love it. - Do you have any picking strategy in the draft? - No, no. - You pick the tall ones. - The cute ones. (laughing) - I'm not gonna watch you. - He's cute. - We men play every week. (audience laughing) - I feel like I'm in the badger head. I'm like, you, you, you, and you. - But I did just start wanting to get into betting on golf. - Ooh. - Do you play? - Because I play and I'm getting kind of obsessed with it, and I really want to be able-- - Yeah, 'cause I'm tired. - And I really want to be able to like, you know, really understand golf and the way you do that is to start betting on golf. - I put on the golf channel when I need to hit rev. Sleep. (audience laughing) 'Cause they have such a calm whisper, you know? - Yeah, it's like a warrant. - And say that, it's like a heavy blanket. - Well, we've spoken about sports betting and how men are putting their homes up for sale to like, rock's gonna win a game or something. - So we just wanted to raise awareness. (audience laughing) - Oh. (audience cheering) (audience applauding) - That's correct. - This is a very inappropriate photo here. - Hannah, how we got in there. - Hannah? - Put this in. - And she was in sports illustrated recently until we just wanted to like, bring awareness. - Oh my goodness. - Okay. - Yes. (audience cheering) Now I'm embarrassed. At first I thought it was funny, now I'm embarrassed, but I get ashamed because I've been really long torso, and Paige is all legs, no torso. How's your guys' torso? - Zero torso. - Zero torso, your opinion. - Everything has to be like, hemmed and my, it goes, it goes nipple's belly button. (audience laughing) - Your nipple hits your hip. - I just need to say, Mindy has been so page-coded. - So page-coded. - It is full-time, it's very, I have a little page-coding. - Yeah. - I'm long-waisted, short-legged. It's on the exact opposite. It's literally waist-feet. - It can work, please. - You look tall on a Zoom. - Yes, I'm taller than me right now, but if we stand, I'm not as tall as K right now, but if we stand up, I'm like two feet shorter. - When you sit, you get tall. - I'm so tall right now. - Yeah. - We should do the whole, see, we should do the whole season, just sitting down. I'm your height. (audience laughing) 'Cause I have to wear like these gigantic shoes. - Yeah. - I'm like on an apple box all the time, and in gigantic shoes, and I'm still not a sole size. - I'm also long torso. - But you also have long legs. - Oh, so you're, you're beautiful. - You're just like, I guess my proportions are perfect. - She's like, "Sorry, I don't understand this "in perfection of body ratio." - I guess I'm the platonic ideal type of woman. (audience laughing) - I don't know, I don't know. - She's trying not to answer. She's like, "Someone else can go." - I don't know. - Matthew McConney, he says, "I have the perfect figure." (audience laughing) It's whatever. (audience laughing) - Can we, can we just say we didn't get to say this? We are so honored to be here. - Oh my gosh. - Oh my gosh. - You guys, thank you for having us. (audience cheering) - We are such huge fans of each and every one of you in so many ways, everyone got serious, like I'm being nervous. - You're like, "Line, don't we have to put you on this?" - I know. - Hold on, didn't do it. - But yeah, you guys, this is such an honor, and for the gigglers to come and support all those who support everyone, thank you. (audience cheering) - Giggle the best word ever. - No, it literally is. - Okay, this one is when you're on FaceTime with your friend and something happens, call drops. Are you calling them back? Or you've missed the moment over, you'll get them next time. - Yeah. - You know what you're like? The universe doesn't want this anymore. - An unnecessary wrap it up is to not, yeah. We ain't got the time for that. It ended, it was God's way of saying. - You're busy. - You're down to the next thing. - Yeah, she's so pitched. - It did. - Crazy. - Oh, I'm the opposite. I'm like, "Oh my God, I'm so sorry that we have it." Oh my God, but I'm just glad to say good-bye. - I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. - It's something happened, it was probably my service. I'm just going to say goodbye, love you. - That's me. - That is really nice. - I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm with Mindy. I'm out. I'm like, "Oh, I know, I know." - I know. - I'll be telling you. (audience laughing) - There are times I'm jogging. I'm like, "Oh, Kate's gone forever." I pulled her back and I'm like, "Hold on." I'm like, "Oh, okay, I guess we were done." - You could, you could see the, you know, what you could do is send the text. Hey, I think the call drop were good, right? - Yeah, like just make sure they're not mad at you. - Yeah, we're done here. I'll be in the most vulnerable mid-sentence, like, and then when my parents, and then it cuts off, and Paige, you're never gonna be heard of again. - I'm like, "We'll pick this back up next week." - Leave me for that. - Katz. (audience cheering) - I wanna say this is controversial. Think before you speak, I don't like Kate's face right now. - Well, do I have to, is it like Katz or Dogs? - No, it's just, Katz, oh, I, I will snuggle any animal. - Oh, I love Katz. - I love Katz. I never had a cat until I started dating Mac. He's like a Manhattanite, so I always had dogs, but now we have three cats. I love all, I love all animals, though. So we have so many animals. - I am not an animal person. - I just wanna say, no, this is my long lost sister. - I am so page, but also I just wanna say dogs are the feature, you continue. - I think, and then this is bad, this is bad. People love, people love animals living in their home. Yeah, rubbing their genitalia on their pillows that they go to sleep on. (audience laughing) Licking their faces, they love this. I don't know if this is like an Indian thing, but I think, like, germizes, it's not. I love a cat attitude, you know. I love, honestly, there's a lot to learn from Katz. I mean, about, you know, don't give too much, you know, just I, but I am, I'm not like an animal in the house person. I want only human germs in my house. - That's Butter and Daphne, the huge fans of all of you. - Oh. - Oh. - Unfortunately, they do sleep in our bed, so. (audience laughing) - Also Butter has, like, looks like Cindy Crawford. She has a little birthmark, but no one talks about it. (audience laughing) I was just like, "Daphne is so pretty," and I'm like, "Butter's literally Cindy Crawford." - Butter, Butter, the name's Butter. - Oh my God. - I'm really into cute names. - I'm so cute. - Oh. - And it's like Butter British people. - Okay, well, I had two cats named Mack and Cheese. - Oh! - I had two! - Oh, so you two, like, had two. - Yeah, they were Persian cat, they were Mack and Cheese, they were so cute. - Great name, thank you. - And I thought you were gonna talk shit about cats. (audience laughing) - I have to formally apologize to you, because I was at the end of the video.
I had a mic time. Oh, voice notes. Sometimes you don't want it in writing, you know? You're like, if I ever get subpoenaed, it's going to be bad. If someone saves a voice note, it send shivers down my spine. When someone saves a rant that you went on, you're like, why did you save that? Yeah, for evidence. Yeah, love a voice note. Yes, love a voice note. Well, especially because we're busy. We're walking around, we're like, I can't call. I'm like, I've learned to love it. I used to give me anxiety when I saw someone. I would just read the voice note like a crazy person, and not listen to them, like, oh my god. But now I understand, and I'm here for it. Except when Scott and MacArthur sends a voice note, it's because they're like five minutes long. Call them out by name. Call them out. Scott, he plays, he plays Ness. He literally sends a long, it's very, very bad. And you get to like a minute, you get to like a minute 10, and you're like, I'm out. You know, you can speed them up now. Well, I say, if I look at a voice note and there's a two, it's like, anything over two minutes, I'm not listening to it. I kind of read it, I kind of like go to the thing. I read it. Scott, he like, play music, he'll be like, I got this song, I want you guys to hear. Yes. Like, he'll play that style song for you guys. That's crazy. Does he have anyone in his life who could be honest with him? No, that's the problem. Everybody in his arms with him. I literally want everybody has told him. I'm so sorry that a man's doing that to you guys. Bed rotting. [CHEERING] Huge fans. Yeah, huge fans. This is just staying in bed all day. Kate, do you wake up early? Yes. You're fucking running or something. You're like, yeah, but I'm also, I can get into bed and I can get into bed for a long time. But I wouldn't say it's rotting. Yeah, rotting is about murder. And I get it, but yeah. I love being in bed. I love fan beds. Like, do you guys ever work horizontal, like do emails in bed? And I do. I do my emails at night and then I schedule them to be sent out in the morning. I raise my kids from bed. [LAUGHTER] She was like, full fights with my whole family from the bed. I have three kids under age control. So like, bed rot would be my dream to do it. So I was on bed rest for my last baby, who's two. And the last six weeks I was confined to bed. We're so jealous. I-- it was heaven. Yeah. To just lay in bed, take all my zooms and go like shit. And it's clinical. And it was like, I have a medical condition. She's a doctor, so I have to look bad, like zooming with Bella Bajaria from bed, wearing my sweat pants, and she just has to deal with it. It's the best. Yeah, it's the best. We need to get a medical note. The life really do. Last one. Last one is-- How do you feel about revenge? I'm a petty revenge. I'm a petty bitch. Yeah, petty bitch. Yeah. And I believe the best revenge is living well, or do you believe the best revenge is literal revenge? No, I think it's living well. But also, if there's a chance to be a petty, you know I'll do it. Revenge sometimes, like, you don't have to do it. The universe does it for you. I believe in that too. And I believe in karma. Yeah. I'm going to be so cheesy, please. I believe that forgiveness is the only way to peace. Aw. How dare you bouquet Hudson? And now, guys, she actually means that she's-- Can you believe me? No, but that is beautiful, because when you're angry and you wish bad upon people, it comes around back to you sometimes. You're so fucked if revenge is your way. You just want to be friends with Kate Hudson. You're not being yourself. [LAUGHTER] Oh, I go. Kate, you're so fucking right. I've been saying it at this whole time. Like, you did work on yourself to get there. You have just finished. She's time. She literally called me two weeks ago at 11 p.m. and I was like, and then I think this will happen. [LAUGHTER] Yeah, I have an S-E-Witch. Really excited, excited. Oh, OK. Before we go, we'll say what we think on-- Oh, OK. Let's decide. I mean, indeed. It's page. Koda. Yeah. 100% page code is honored. I'm honored. I think Brenda is smack dab in the middle. She's Hannah's son, Paige Moon. Yes. And Kate is all Hannah. And Kate's man. But Kate's good representation. Kate is like, she holds herself a little with more like-- She has more class. Yeah. For sure. She's like a regalness that I'll never have. But cool. Like, Kate's never like shit in the middle of the street. Kate, that was a bright spade scene. Like, I never did that. Well. [LAUGHTER] Like, sometimes you don't know if it's a fart or not. OK. Never over trust a fart. See, that's her Hannah coming out. Oh, which brings us to a perfect segue. We just want to get to know you guys a little more about your sense of humor. And you all are so iconic in the comedy space. Like, I mean, I can't even-- there's no words to it. So we just want to know-- this is too late, because we've been trying to make you laugh. So we should have done this in the beginning. But we just want to know your sense of humor real quick. People falling. Yes. A thousand percent. Yes. Does that get a laugh from you guys? Yes. I'm the awful friend. You could be bleeding. And I feel like that's hilarious. It really cares her too. You're good. I mean, a cousin of this is when Kate walks into a wall, which is like every episode of the show. So falling out of frame, I think, is the best version of falling, I think. Kate was talking about real life. Like, when I trip a fall, she's like, I know we fun. It's hilarious. Where she's a director. She's like, out of frame, perfect. Falk to the mattress. Fart jokes. Like, Mindy, when you see a script, how often are you like, OK? I'm not high-brow. OK, I'm not. But I think I-- again, three children under eight, they think it's hilarious. Oh, we're going to call them a poopy head. And they're constantly doing it. So I think I've just had a lot of like, tuts, we call them at our house. A lot of like, tuit comedy in my home. We have like, three books with tuit in the tank, so I think you're-- I think you're-- She's so young. Now I love sex. She's like, we call it "tooting." I think I love that. Because they have Asian grandparents. You know, like, we're not going to say fart. But so I am to me, I'm not as into it, I think. Yeah, yeah. I think, same. I think I'm so desensitized because of my kids. They think it's so funny. And I'm like, I'm tired of it. Yeah, you're like, get a new bed. We trying to find this one. My kids are also trying to fart on me now. They think it's so funny when they fart on me. And I'm like, it's never going to be funny. No, no. And I have 1,000 brothers, which basically means I spent my entire life with them farting, thinking it was funny, and it's disgusting. And but, but, every once in a while, a perfect fart joke is really fucking funny. Like, if it's perfect, you can't not laugh, you know? Hannah loves a fart joke. [LAUGHTER] My brother has an insane sphincter muscle. And his- All of a sudden, if you listen to art, no, I'm serious. This is real. If you listen to our podcast, you'd hear this, because he farts a lot on my podcast. But he can control it. So he does things where he'll walk in my room and go, do you hear that? And then all of a sudden he'll fart and close the door. Like, it's creaking. Oh, my God. And control. So he's an artist. Has he- You've never seen anything like this? Wait, has he seen a doctor about it? Like, is that, are they, like, you're an anomaly? Or that's, like, a day kind of. He's a pot of oil. He's a pot of Beethoven. Sorry, I asked that. I hate ponds. I hate ponds. I'd say a pot of Beethoven's pretty great. So random, and I don't want to raise awareness about a man. But I recently just started watching Nashville, and I had no idea-- he's in it, right? Yes, yes. He's so good in it. Nashville is-- how much-- How much do we love that show? And I never watched it. OK, anyway. Why are you starting Nashville now? I'm sorry, like, didn't it come out in, like, 2008? She's not allowed to go for something. She tried to make me start it. I was like, can I paint? Everything Hayden Penta chair will ever do. I mean, it's a great show, but it feels random. Yeah. Good. It was like on TNT back in the day. I didn't even know how to get to TNT. You're like, I'm going to watch Royal Payne's after that. I love it. I'm surprised how unbusy you are. We all wear. Yeah. She's so page. Yeah. She's disgusted about you. [LAUGHTER] And that is us. No, I love it. Yeah, no, you love it. That's why she's wearing a matching set. She's like, this is gross, but I need more. I can't look away, but-- What makes us laugh? Running points, we're here tonight. Real quick. Can you just go around to tell us? I swear to God, I'll fight you. What are these tags? What's happening? I'm like, my tinder is going off or something. Can you guys just go around and say what you-- how involved you are with Running Point? Are you in there? Are you there? When they filmed there? How are you? We're looking on our internet show. You're going to see Nashville, but I've never seen Running Point. What is Running Point?
So what is it about? So it's on Netflix? Yes. That's why we're here tonight. And we love Netflix. Thank you for having us and thank you for coming. We love you guys. We love your work. I'm a co-creator with our good friends, Ike Baron-Holtson, David Stassen. Love. Who are wonderful Davis, the showrunner in the show. And Jeannie Bus, the wonderful Jeannie Bus, who is the president of the Lakers several years ago, approached me and said I'd love to do a show about what it's like to run the Lakers. There have been so many shows written about the Lakers, but never that mentioned her as anything but a side character in it, which is, again, typical of living in the picture. I won't bore us with all this now. But she really wanted to do that. We developed the show, Kate wanted to be in it, which was, I mean, took it to the absolute next level. And because Kate was involved, we have these incredible other cast members. But it started like pre-pandemic. We were thinking about this. I had one child before this. At any point where you like shoot, I don't know basketball. Or like, I happen to, and as you know, don't know anything, I'm very indifferent to most sports. Randomly growing up, my dad was a huge Celtics fan and grew up in Boston, so. I know. This is the reaction. What's the score of the game right now? Look at you. My dad loves Larry Bird. Larry Bird. So we're connecting. We're connecting. Larry Bird. And so he grew up loving basketball. I think basketball is the best sport in the world. The most athleticism. The most entertaining. And the Lakers, I mean, love the Celtics, but it's like the showbiz for a reason. Like showtime. Love it. And so, yeah, that's how it happened. And I can Dave co-wrote the pilot with me. And now they're, you know, showrunners and actors on the show. Like, it was on the season. He's super funny. And yeah, that's how I'm involved in the show. She is the show. Yes. This is our boss. I mean, this created like 3247 shows in the last decade. So shout out to Mindy for running the comedy industry. Truly. And for me, I sat with Mindy. We had a margarita and fell in love and eyes. Did you guys didn't know each other before? We didn't really. We had met once before. At Reese Witherspoon's Christmas party. We met at Reese's. Of course. Of Reese's Christmas party. I have a lot of a list celebrity friends. What is Reese Witherspoon's Christmas party like? Like, what is she serve food-wise? There was a lot of like Southern food, right? Yeah, she's a, yeah, she's a, you know, she likes her fried chicken. Oh, okay. Yeah. No, she has Southern food. A lot of singers, like you say. There was a part of the evening that turned into Christmas carols around a grand piano. What? Which for me is like fucking terrifying. My worst nightmare. For me is like my favorite part of the night. Yeah. She's on the piano. Was there a fountain? A fountain. I feel like there'd be a fountain. Yeah. I've heard you have a fountain. You know what? There was a fountain. Yeah. We had a fancy lunch and you were, you wanted the show to be cool. You didn't want to be involved in like a loser show. Yeah. Basically. That's what I said to her. Is this going to be cool? Or am I going to look like a loser? No, we sat, we talked. I've known Jeannie Buss since I was young because I was, I'm a big King's fan and I used to go to, yeah. Yeah. Hockey. Hockey King's not the Sacramento King's just to be clear. And I got to meet Jeannie when I was young at the Forum Club. And I just felt like when I remember reading the log line of the show. And I was like, I'm going to, I'm going to do the show. I just, I knew it in my gut. And then when we met, I had, I, I have so much trust in Mindy. And we've had like the time of our lives. And then I got to meet Brenda. Oh, so you guys met on the show, too, you didn't. Yes. Because your chemistry, like when you went to Toronto, I was like, sorry. What's going on? Like I really felt like it was like a real friendship breakup. I would have thought you guys knew each other before you filmed. It's out. It's out. That's what we do with documentaries. We're like, don't tell them what happened. It's a dead bunny. And I have talked about this before. But I said that when I go to the gym, I never know if I'm doing it right. Even if I'm watching a YouTube or a TikTok tutorial. But with a ladder, it gives you a real plan from an actual expert coach. Hillary Depp said that we're getting stronger, not smaller. He was like seconds from asking me out. It sounds like you were seconds away from offering up your body. It was a pregnant pause. Now I know what that means. I think it's finally our time. Okay, that's a very judgey. You just got out of the eight-year relationship. Have some fun. I am trying to have fun. I'm trying to have fun with Jay. I love. Your first post-lev hookup needs to be low stakes. Someone you'll never see again. You don't like that guy when we're in Vegas. Or that guy in Cabo. Or that other guy in Cabo. Okay, I get the point. I'm a retired slut. And it's time for you to get back to the streets. So please don't text Jay or send him conspiracy reels on Instagram. I'll leave the syncing of the Titanic was not an accident. There is proof. I'm leaving. I have to know as artists. Do you guys like watching yourselves or does that? No, that was painful. I'm so sorry we put you through that. Every time. Every time. It's always weird. It's hard. I'll never get used to it. I'm like hearing your own voice. Thank you. I love how I'm like the Googlers let me translate. They said you're really not. Also, we loved your fits. We loved your hair. Like the suits, the ties. How much like say do you get in your outfits? And do you get to keep anything? Some things. Some things like you do. Maybe. You guys have a lot of say, right? Oh, yeah. It's so wonderful because the thing is our show and our Dave Stassen is always like I'm a man. I don't know. You choose. When it comes down to it, we have a lot of say and our costume designer is incredible. So we, it's so much fun. Yeah. And I work with my stylist Sophie and she kind of helps curate everything. And it's been awesome. I love it. I love the eye look. Yeah, it looks great. Who takes the longest in glam? Justin Thoreau. How long does he take? Wait too long. Is it the brows? Like what does he want to know? Okay, the defensive Justin, right? He's a handsome guy. Right? And you get to a certain age. That doesn't come easy. Right? You got to kickstart that. You know, you have a lot of massaging, a lot of ice, face ice back. I know. That's a field of cheek. A lot of lymphatic drainage in the morning. He is a 70. And stuff for him to look. No, he's a young, young man. Handsome guy. He didn't look that handsome in Devil Wars Prada though. Yeah. That probably took a while in glam. I still have the quickest in glam. That was him not in glam. Yeah, that was him. That was him just showing up and going straight to work. And I saw the movie and I was like, "Where's my Adrienne Grenier? Where's my men candy?" It was like the journalist friend. Yeah. They had the guy with an accent. They were like, "That'll do." Yeah. Sorry, this is Devil Wars Prada 2 talk. I have to see this movie. I haven't seen anything like that. It's really, they did it justice. Yeah, it's very cute. Mindy, do you have any casting regrets? What if I was just like, "Yeah, I wish it was Anne Hathaway and Sandra O." But somehow, we made it work with these two. I think the casting is spectacular on the show. Everyone is such a great character. The chemistry is so good in the room. We were so lucky. And it just felt like, and this is really a testament to Kate. Like, once Kate wanted to do it, it was getting Jay Ellis and all the great Octavia Spencer. They had this prior relationship and everyone just wanted to act with the cast. It was amazing. To the point where I was like, "I jealous. Why can't I be on the show?" We feel really lucky with who was on it. I think Max Greenfield. That's so funny. So funny. Great, when you guys broke up this season.
I was like, "Can I step in?" Like, he's such a cutie. So, yeah, we were really lucky. Do you have any dream characters that you would like to cast? Like any actor that you're like, "I really want them in it." Chet is, we love Chet so much. I would love Tom Hanks to be on the show in some way. - That's your long game, you're like, "Chet, come on the show." (audience laughing) - It does seem like that. No, Chet is so funny on the show. And whenever he sees me, he really doesn't see me as well. (audience laughing) - Don't you feel like Tom Hanks, he's one of the funniest people alive. He's so funny in SNL, but he does these movies now. And I love them, like Greyhound and Bridge of Spies, that he does the dad movies now. And I want him to be, and you've got, man, I want to be interesting, really funny. And so, I'd love to have him on the show. - And we also love Ray Romano. - Yeah, I love, oh, he's great. I also just like crazy comedians, like Tim Robinson, yeah. (audience cheering) - I met him today at the brunch, sorry, I'm not too, and I got so excited. I was like, "I love you, Tom Hanks." - I didn't say anything, I went. - Yeah, but I didn't know. You literally did, I watched you do that. - Yeah, I was like, (audience laughing) and then I walked away, 'cause I didn't know what to say. - Great about our show is that it sort of lends itself. We've kind of opened this world up to where anything's possible. Anybody could come on and do something fun for like a day, and we have so much fun on set that that's exactly what we're doing, you know? Like this year, when we did the basketball game, and we had my brother, and Speedman, and we had so much fun when we were doing that, you know? So, it's great, I'm sure we'll have a lot of people. - Also, like, and this is getting increasingly rare, we get to shoot an LA, which is so, it's such a huge part of the show. - We just, like, if we can, you know, I just think getting actors to come here, we feel so proud to be able to shoot here. Our crew is incredible, and, yeah, so we hope that we can kickstart a trend where more and more comedies are shot here. (audience cheering) - We've all been there as women in the arts, and women in STEM. (audience laughing) Have you ever walked into a room and felt underestimated, 'cause you're a woman, and how do you deal with that energy in the room, and then overcome it? - Wow, big shift in the show. (audience laughing) - Let's bring out Michelle Obama. (audience laughing) - I actually get, okay, this is gonna sound awful, but I get a little bit of a weird, like, hit off of when I can see, when I'm pissing a guy off. (audience cheering) I feel like I've had moments where I've sat, and I've had to stand up for myself in certain things, and you can just feel them hating it, and I fucking love it. Yeah. There's a part of me that's like, I don't know, I just, when I see that, and I say this not as a generalization, 'cause I work with a lot of great men, and I've had a lot of great support from men, women, like, but there are just, we all know them, and those moments for me, when I know that I have a little bit of the upper hand, and they fucking hate it, I'm like, I'm enjoying every second of this. (audience laughing) - It's not revenge. - It's revenge. - That's the only way I work, I'm. (audience laughing) - Sorry, okay, we took it too far, that was my bad. - But do you know what I mean? Like yeah, there is a moment, you know, I think a lot of times, there's sort of like, those kinds of people who like want, you know, they want to pull the wool over your eyes, and you're sitting there, and they think they're gonna sweet talk you, or they think that they can make you feel a little bit like, oh, you should be doing it like this, and then we're gonna kind of steamroll you a little bit, and I enjoy those moments when I'm like, nope. I'm all jacked up right now. - I'm like, I'm in a room. - But that's how I feel, what about you? - I know you're like, you're similar, come on. - No, I'm like always at like a simmer, like my rage is right under the surface. - You're so paged. - No, I feel like, I feel so lucky, I have like the career of my dreams, like it's everything, but also the scrutiny that I face versus my contemporaries is like absolutely crazy. When I fail, I fail huge. And when my contemporaries fail, it's like a quiet little whatever. If a guy does a show with about a bunch of guys, and it's really guy-coded, it's like a, it's considered like high art, but if I do a show with women talking about stuff, it's like, but a cute little trifle, something to watch as the guilty pleasure when you're on the treadmill. - Yeah. - This is what's happening. - Yeah, and then my, it's just a simmer. I also feel rageful when I'm trying to parallel park a car and a man is like, jump soon, and he's like, I'm gonna help you. (audience laughs) - And I'm like, and they're just being friendly, and I'm like, I don't need this. Back away from my car, and I, I don't know about, that's not the answer to the question, but I, that's what I want to say. - Well, that one, you might want it. - I haven't handled, I have a backup camera 'cause it's fucking 2026. (audience laughs) - You're like, this is an awesome driving car, dude. - And women don't do that. And a woman wouldn't say, I'm gonna help you. - A mad car. - Women are like, I'm gonna go do my own thing. - Yeah, and if there's trying to be helpful, but I'm like, you know, go away. So that's, was that anything? - And you know, that's been in rooms with some of the most powerful influential men in Hollywood. - And you've had a whole-- - You've had a whole, and you've held your own, and we commend you for that. - Thank you. (audience cheers) - I've never said commend before. (audience laughs) That was crazy. Brenda, how about you? - I'm the opposite, nope, you're gonna go. - Here's the thing that I feel as an Asian-American woman in trying to succeed in anything, and especially in this industry. I feel like you always walk in a room with feeling underestimated, feeling like it's gonna be a no. And for me, it's always been about proving to myself my own self-worth. And honestly, I say this all the time, and I truly mean it. Being on this show is one of the first times, I've been doing this since I was three years old, I'm 38. This show has really, it's been one of the few places where I truly feel seen, heard, taken care of, and where I truly feel like I have a voice, and that's really rare. And this show, being with women like Kate and Mindy, have really taught me to be unafraid, to speak, like to speak up, period. Because the truth is, I'll be honest, there have been so many times in my career, where people are like, "Why did you do that role?" I was like, "I'm just trying to work!" I only knew they got to say in it, and that's what's really hard. I think make you feel like you have to defend every choice that you make when you realize that you're just trying to survive. And being on this show has really helped me, and really given me so much motivation, to speak up for myself, and to advocate for myself, and to take risks that I don't think I would have taken. Like, it's the truth though, like when I started this show, Kate said something amazing to me, 'cause she was starring in a show, and also having an album come out, and when we were talking about it, and she's like, "You did this because for you, "you didn't want to have any regrets, you didn't care." And like she said, it so casually, but it hit so hard for me, 'cause I feel like I was always so afraid to do something, because I was afraid to fail, because as women, if we have a misstep, it's like a huge failure, we'll never get another shot. And so truly being with these women has inspired me so much to be more like them. And that comes from the top down, like that's from leadership, that's from like having Mindy and Kate. - The men that we work with on our show are feminists, right? Like they all, like I can say they've worked on something around the Mindy project for 117 episodes, like they want to write stories about women, like demented women, but they think demented women should have a voice, and just in Scotty and all the guys here, like they, that's not always the case, like you do a movie, and you know, there's, I don't know, Kate, you've done this, we've been in Mark Calche, and there's a couple guys who maybe aren't so happy about having it be that way, and that's, like this cast is incredible, the writers are incredible, and so we feel really supported by the men in our world, and that's, I would say it's not as common as you would think, so we are so blessed. - Also for you guys to get to this point in your career, you've had to do scary things. Like you haven't been comfortable, I know you all have done things that scared the hell out of you, and that's how you became great. Do you have any advice for Paige when she's nervous? (laughing) I'm just kidding, no, Paige is beta-blockered out, she's fine. - I'm numb. - But like, we're in like this early part of our career, these were only 34 were babies. - We're children, we're children. - We don't know what to do. We're doing a lot of things for the first time that's really scary. When you're insecure doubting yourself, how do you overcome that, especially when you're in the public eye? - In all seriousness, there is no creative field that you can get into without having to be completely terrified of putting yourself out there. So if you're not going to do it, then you're probably not in the right business, right? So like, creatively, also, what's so fun about what we do, is that everything's new, which means it should always feel a little bit like, you know, kinetic and a little fearful.
have those nerves. It's like anything that is a new idea, anything that's a new experience. Every time you walk out here and you do something like this, it's going to be a completely different crowd. You never know what that is going to be. That's part of why we love doing it. But it's also like you have to risk the fall. If not, then it's just you got to get them like accounting or something. You've got to do something that's made a bother for that. My advice for you guys, because I know you have a show that you're working on, which is going to be huge. And you are your mere children. I know. So I hope this doesn't have condescending. Is when you're putting together the team for the show, which I know you're working on right now, it just has to be people that you're like, oh, that person is like obsessed with me in my voice. That director, that cast member, that writer, because it's so hard to make a show. There's so many heartbreaks. There's such a roller coaster. But like it's like dating someone. The people that you get in bed with, they can't be doing it like for the money or because of this and that or whatever. It's like when you leave it, you're like that. When I came day of Stassen came to be interviewed, to be writers on the Mindy Project. They came to my house. They were both in full suits. They came. They weren't these comedy writer slabs showing up after the gym because it was like a female lead show and they didn't care. They came in and there were these well-raised Chicago guys who were, and they brought, because the show had been picked up, they brought me flowers to congratulate me, right? These two straight men from Chicago came in in three bcs because they wanted the gig. And they were like, and that takes a lot. So like, my advice to you guys is you're so talented. You clearly have such an audience is when you are staffing, staffing up for this show that will be in a little hit from guest star to director for anybody, like just get people who are obsessed with you, which won't be hard. I love that. I mean, she's like, yeah, I know. She's like, can my dad work on the show? I know the perfect show runner. And Brenda, you talked about being scared. I always say, when you're scared to do something, you know changes about to happen and change can be scary. But I always say, if you're not, if you don't want to make that leap, then you have to be okay with where your life is at. You know what this life is. And if you want to keep living that way, great. But no, no change. Like, you have to take that risk. I always just say, when I'm scared, just do it anyway. It's how I can tell a lot of trouble. I love that so much. Let's see what? Okay. We have a special guest video. This is, we try to get Tom Hanks. We couldn't. What's up, Giggly podcast? Yeah, I got the giggles over here too. And a phase. What's up? Mindy, Kate, Brenda, I miss you guys. Had so much fun working with you guys this season. But you know, we could hang out for Kate if you want to throw another game night and invite me here. What type of that one on Brenda? You guys want to, if you want to, Nicole, you want to have you have the over for dinner or something. Okay. It got, it was too long. That went on too long. Like I was nervous. I was like, Oh, God, please remember my name. I thought he was going to forget me. He was worried. He was like, he did not, Brenda, Mindy. Yes. Well, the funny thing is that's also how I love chat. How we do all of our table raids that are zooms. They're usually in a car like that. I'm obsessed with that. We're always like, where's Chad? No, he's getting on. He's late. He's a little late. But he's just like in his car. In front of a planet fitness with his phone propped up on the dashboard and a sleeveless shirt. I literally was like, we were like, what should we do for the show? And clearly, we had no idea. And I was like, can we get a video from Chad? And they were like, actually, that's one thing we can't do. We love fashion. So we obviously wanted to show some of the favorite looks. And this is Mindy and Kate's favorite look. They submitted it. Can we discuss the dance routine and what went into this process? How long did it take you to learn it? I didn't have much time. And I haven't danced in a while. So like the Chloe, the Clower. She learned in a day. She literally learned it with a day before. And they come and they're like, okay, we're going to show you the dance. And they were just like, Kate, is it? Kate is a scam artist. She did that thing where she's like, guys, I don't know. I don't think I'll be able to get it. It's very complicated. And then just did that on like the second you are. Dance comes. She's a performer. I used to dance a lot. And then of course, you know, you're older and you don't dance at all. And so it kind of, it's like riding a bike. It sort of comes back a little bit. But then you know, I look at it and I'm like, I got to go back to dance class. But it was so much fun. You know, it was a triple threat. That's what they say in the business in this town. It was fun. It was so great. But I really, the best part was the outfit. So cute. I just like make sure you're gonna kill this. And you're glowing. You were like, this is where I'm into it because I was having stuff. We had so much fun. Also, this is me selfishly preparing for our show. When you're trying to remember your lines, because like you can learn, have new lines the day of like, are you guys quick with it? Are you like, leave me alone in my trailer? Like, what's your process? We're very nervous about remembering our lines. Hannah is really nervous about her. I'm nervous. I'm nervous. Can I tell you guys, this is Kate. Can't it's like on a phone, on a face time? She was, I don't know what the scene is yet. Hold on. Okay. And then she'll get the whole tire seen. I don't know how she does it. I'm not kidding. She does it all the time. I think I have a little bit of a, I really actually have a, one of those where I could learn a monologue. Like right now, if, if I had like about 35 minutes, I could probably do a monologue. She's like, is that where it comes easily to me? Yeah. I'm not easy. It's my legs and my toes. I'm going to start watching. No, but it's my brain. I forget me than your guys is. There is nothing. I, I get you not. We've been on set before where it gets like, oh, we're doing these things. No, no, no, we're doing this other scene. She goes, what? And she likes like, okay, well, give me the science. And she like sits there while they're like touching her up. And she has it in her desk. And then she like knows every single word. It's kind of insane. So you never have to yell like, line, do people actually do that? Yeah. Page, they did it with us. We did something. I will say that here's a trick that I use that I love is I the night before I don't I read it. It's the last thing I do because our study is that if you read it, it repeats in your brain. It's the last thing. So I go over my sides. It's the very last thing I do. And I fall asleep and I wake up and it's usually memorized. Wow. I have sex that night. Yeah. What if it goes like you read it? Oh, yeah. But then I have to go wash my face and get all right. I have to do all routine. You have you make a fun when you have sex. No. These are the important questions. Thank you, Mindy. But even you do. I can't just like roll. I have a like it's you don't roll over and go right to bed. Because I like I fall asleep but I don't fall asleep. I'm not a good sleeper. Says before I this way. She's like, then I'm my rolling TV. I can't look at rolling TV. I need a rolling TV. Do we have a rolling TV? Yeah. We'll talk after about the routine after you read your mind and go to bed. No, I just wonder if it needs to imprint on you and then you just nothing has to go straight to sleep. You can't be distracted by something. No, no, no. I can like it's just the thing that I do like in like the it's one of the last things I do. That's a good trick. Yeah. I will say because you guys are going to be the stars of this show. I think it was so much easier for me to know my lines when I was on the Mindy project and I was on the office because I'd be waiting all day for my one line and the pressure's on and you're like, I'm going to mess this up because we've seen this sometimes we'll have like a guest star who's to come on and somehow it's harder to know your line on the spot because you're like, I don't want to blow it. But then when you have a ton of lines you get into the zone where yeah, yeah, it would be great. I've been like auditioning a little and every now and then I'll just get one line audition. I overthink that one line so bad. I'm doing different. I'm like, that's not how people say that where I forget how words were. So it's like when you're on mushrooms and like, and like, and like, there's a word and you're like, I think it's called, I think it's popsicle. Is that the word popsicle? And in your mind you're like, no, it's not. Our favorite looks from the show, Brenda's giving Hannah Coded. Yeah, I thought that was me. I thought it was me on the right. We love a tie. I joke it when you wear a tie. You feel powerful. Like you can't help it. You feel like you have a dick. You know, I mean, like, I know how it feels to just have something swinging. Yeah. And I start talking to people different. I'm like, what do you say? I start explaining things instead. Like, I'm, yeah, she fires me. And when I wear it, and I wear a tie when I was doing my stand up tour and I walk on stage. I think more women should wear a tie. And they look sexy. And the funny thing is Lisa joke, because I would tie my own ties and all the boys in the show would need their dresser to do their ties. And I'm like, what? This makes no sense in these guys. I know how to tie a tie. I just don't want to. I was like, well, you lazy ass. Tie your own tie. Man. And then you know, I love, I feel like you [BLANK_AUDIO]
good looks, the whole season. But I love when you're in like a monochromatic, just like, I'm coming in to fuck shit up. - I was very monochromatic. I like the monochromatic. - Yeah, yeah. - I loved that too, although it was hard to wear. - Yeah, remember 'cause it was a body suit. - I remember this. - I had to tuck it in a couple of times. - It was hard, so I kept coming up and it was hard to get my mic. - Okay, back to advice for us. (laughing) We've so many questions. I didn't actually run this by you, so this is a hard question. But like, you guys have been acting for a while. - What's your kind of most like, embarrassing mistake or moment that you've had on set? 'Cause whatever it is, I feel like I'm gonna do it. I feel like it's gonna be with a toilet. That's what I think. (laughing) - Don't put it in that mess there. - The trailers, that's stressful. - Trailers are stressful. - Oh, you mean being in a trailer on set? - Yeah, 'cause I get nervous tummies. - I've never said tummies before. I was just looking at K-hats in the eye, and I freaked out. (laughing) - You didn't want to tell K-hats and you share your pants all the time. - Back before I go and stage it before-- - She'd hurt herself at the very normal thing. - Where's Prada Premiere? (laughing) - Wait, I had a bug, I had a stomach bug. - No, she didn't, she drank whole milk, a couple hours earlier. - My mom tried to poison me with a latte. - So at the bathroom at the AMC year-rever, were the premieres? - No, I wish we were at the AMC. (laughing) - We were at Lincoln Center, okay? - We were at the real premiere. - She broke the toilet at Lincoln Center. - She literally sharded, and it lay down. - I was holding it in the whole carpet. I was like, and then I got to like the party area. Heidi Klum looked at me, and-- - She didn't tell me it's with the end of the night 'cause she didn't want to ruin my time. (laughing) It's a good friend. - But yeah, what are like things I should look out for, and it turns out-- - (laughing) - It turns a professionalism. Like, what could I do that really? We'll never work with her again in this town. - Okay, and it's for real. - Yes. - As a Holland experiences with us, don't get romantically involved with the co-star. - She's married. - Oh yeah. - Well, we're married. - We're married. - Don't come to a fair with the co-star. - That doesn't matter. (laughing) - Not in Hollywood. - Whoa! - Sorry. - You see it all the time. - You guys don't have an affair. - Don't have an affair. - Okay, but don't fall in love. - Do you find it's like, it's like manifesting like you're actually-- - You're gonna want you. - You're gonna love, and then you're in love. - Yeah, you're gonna want you, and you're gonna do it. But don't, just don't do it. - And is it because you're just like, with them all day, every day, that you're like, that's the greatest person I've ever met. - Yeah, and they're like-- - It's like, eventually, you're like filming enough that you're like, okay, fine, he's my husband. (laughing) - And like, three weeks, you're like, he's the love of my life. - Yeah. - Well, acting, you have to be in that mindset. - Have an emotional affair with a co-star. - And you guys are like-- - Oh, okay. - His, like, you kiss. - I said, you guys have emotional affair. - The first, it's all, - Yeah, it's kissing everyone in his movie. I mean, this TV show. - Listen, Mindy wants me to make out of what she's like. You're going to have sex with a wild guy. (laughing) - All right. - It's good TV. - Is the rule like no show? - Is the rule, there are no rules in the business. - Yes, though, it depends on how you, it depends, you know? - If it's a tongue kiss. - Well, no, I mean, look, if you're doing baby girl, it's, you know, like what, they're called dead men. - Yeah, you're gonna get a little wild. But if you're doing running point, you know, we're not baby girl. (laughing) No, one thing my dad said to me was like, one of the first pieces of advice my dad Kurt said, which he, he goes, "Enjoy it, have a great time. Do not fuck your co-stars." That's it. And I was like, you married my mom. (laughing) What are you talking about? He's like, well, you can fall in love with them, but you can't fuck them until you really know you're falling in love with them. - And that's your purse. - Okay, got it. - But it's hard 'cause that's the, so, you know. - That's amazing. - And I think it's great advice. - And then in Hollywood, the guy's actually a good looking, he's not just like a guy named Steve, who like, is in marketing. (laughing) - Oh no. - It's okay. - It's part of the party trick. - Okay. (laughing) - It's very whimsical. - Yeah, that's fun, that's fun. - Before we know what I'm gonna be naked on stage, it'll be fun. - Is that Roger Federer? You just throw it out there at the end. - Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. - You love tennis, don't you? - I like tennis. - I've seen you with this open, I feel like, or something. - I go to the tennis, I like tennis. I'm not, I, you know, I feel like it's my, I'm not as into tennis as you are into sports. I feel like you were the sports person. - You don't have a rolling TV. - I don't ever. - There's no shame for tennis. - But you can let the love tennis casually. - Yeah. - And how about you, Harlan? - I've seen you in a girl outfit, I'd be open before, I feel like. - Is it, are they fun? I've never been to a tennis match. - It's, you're a little quiet. You're like, for someone like me. I'd be, that's, you can't be yapping, do you know what I mean? - Yeah, and then you're stuck with your thoughts. - You're stuck with your thoughts. But I do love tennis, I think it's, it's fun. - Do you play? - You get to wear a Luke. - Do you play? - No, but thank you for asking. (laughing) - But I could ever play tennis, thank you. - Brenda, what's your advice based on a really traumatic time? (laughing) - Okay, so when I think of the organ, like the most, like embarrassing thing that's, I mean, I mean, I had my first kiss in real life on set, like when I was 16, yeah, on the sweet life. - I had my first kiss. - Oh my gosh. (audience cheering) - Yeah, I know a child. I was like, a shelter, King is like so sad. - Shelter child actor. But I will say, so the, I think my most embarrassing moment is when you do a sitcom, they always, in the beginning of a show, 'cause we're doing in front of a live audience, they introduce the cast, so everyone runs out, we wave, and we stand off to the side. When I did this sweet life, we did two iterations. We did like almost 200 episodes of this show. Like I always didn't high heels, and like came out, nothing, the very, very, very last episode. The very, we, it's at the end, we're all crying. And I, I don't remember, I was in my slippers, and I was like, okay, whatever, we go out. And like, my last one, I slip, like it's a banana's on the floor, straight up on my back while I'm crying. And I'm like, and I literally just lay there, 'cause I don't know what to do. (laughing) - That's traumatic. - That's my most traumatic. And I literally still have like fever dreams about it. Like, because it's the moat, yeah, so. - No, that's the scariest. - Don't wear slippers and run on a set. - But I feel like it made you funny. It made you funnier, and it made you stronger. - I know, no. - Thank you for sharing that with us. - Thank you. - Thank you. Thank you. (laughing) You guys, I think we've really hit on everything. And these women are really busy and like spared their time. I want you all to promise me you're gonna go home tonight, go to Netflix. Turn on Running Point and binge the fuck out of it. (audience cheering) - And can we all please put our hands together for our amazing guests tonight. Thank you so much. This was so much fun. (audience cheering) Give it a break. Brenda and Missy, thank you. - Thank you. - You're amazing. - Thank you so much. - Thank you so much. - Thank you. - Thank you so much. Thank you, Googlers. - Thank you. - Thank you so much. Thank you. (audience cheering) [BLANK_AUDIO]

Running Point is a Netflix original series created by Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling, and Brenda Song, centered around the life of a woman running the Los Angeles Lakers. It blends comedy with real-life insights into leadership and showbiz culture, offering a fresh perspective on sports and business.
The show was co-created by Kate Hudson, Mindy Kaling, and Ike Baron-Holtson. David Stassen serves as the showrunner, and Jeannie Bus, a former Lakers president, was instrumental in inspiring the concept by wanting to tell the real story of running a major sports organization.
The inspiration came from a desire to highlight the behind-the-scenes experience of running a major sports franchise, specifically the Lakers. Kate Hudson was drawn to the idea after being approached by Jeannie Bus, who wanted to tell the story of leadership in sports without reducing the experience to a side character.
They incorporate playful, self-deprecating humor, including jokes about body image, fashion, and personal quirks like fart jokes or wearing the same outfit all day. These moments create a relatable and authentic atmosphere.
The 'Page Code' exercise helps identify the unique physical traits and personality quirks of each guest, such as long torsos, baby hands, or love for crocs, offering a fun and lighthearted way to understand their personal styles and identities.
The audience’s reactions highlight shared experiences and personal truths, showing that humor and vulnerability are powerful tools for connection, especially in discussions about body image, confidence, and self-worth.
