Speaker 4gareth good morning everyone yes i enjoyed um the day out at caulfield yesterday as a fan spectator went out with a couple of mates and it was a really good vibe on track a lot of people um the members was packed downstairs upstairs and the conditions like it looked quite sunny but it was quite cold with that really strong um southerly breeze but for a sunday afternoon um it was great to see a lot of people out at the track um i think it raced really well um good performances on the surface as well so that was a really good vibe there yesterday yeah
Speaker 2hats off to everyone there with the mrc because they did copper belting early on the week last week um but after all of that with the rail out where it was um horses were leading horses were coming from the back of the field big crowd there it was it wasn't a great day yesterday it was a cold day that wind was terrible um but that's great to see i was in no state really getting the cool field i was i was planning to but i thought oh maybe not um but it sounds like it was sensational bc it was a really

Speaker 3it's hard to sit there i'd tip shay bolton i am the i'm not i'm not saying i'm a big deal but i am the guru of the enormous middle it's like a license to print money every year um but it didn't help me taking him into extra galactic but anyway we lived upon another day yeah um the so yeah i was off saturday so i was just running the brothers with the big screen and the live music it was uh epic too much money that bike yeah but then uh worked to work yesterday for sky inverted commas worked now it was um a lot of fun but watching the races on the on the on the phone in between uh the granny melbourne and sydney was um was a great day and some great racing i was just a little disappointed concord connie was beaten which i thought she was the highlight horse out of mornington going in she ran well but just wasn't in front at the end of the race yeah um let's have
Speaker 2a look at some of the the big races yesterday from caulfield it was a great day it was owned by kirimar two of his best horses that i think he's ever put a bridle on and jimmy starr and pride of jenny were sensational and jimmy starr with the blinkers on for the first time back to 1200 meters was back to his best in the group one manicato stakes
Speaker 5one of charmstone extra galactic is poised behind them needing some room then a live another day to the outside gallon sun out very wide from mike gladiola and jimmy starr they've got the bay bark charmstone went for home 200 meters to go from extra galactic over on the inside to live another day and jimmy starr under the arches is absolutely
Speaker 2storming jimmy jimmy over the top jimmy starr has won it a half leg extra so that was jimmy starr i think we've got a replay too thanks to racing.com of kirimar and ethan brown talking about the star sprinter after that unbelievable victory there yesterday and it was great to see jimmy back um he had his knockers this preparation because he'd been trialing well he'd been burning up the track at um from all reports at track work and also at the trials but he hadn't been doing what he did yesterday on the racetrack for a little while but it was great to see him do what he did and this is what kirimar had to say after the race
Speaker 6jimmy is back there is no doubt about it kieran what a day for you and the team and jimmy blinkers first time what took you so long well he he's going the same with him or without him so i think it was just a the run that he likes to have brownie was very confident he wanted to ride him like the oakley plate just let the speed he jumped terribly and uh he rode him confident he peeled at the right time and you know when he lives when he lets let's rip there's there's there's no better horse so yeah i'm just thrilled you know he's he's such a little ripper of a horse and uh um to have him out of form well not quite at his absolute best this is a hard pill to swallow but um that was pretty special then i reckon he would have broke the clock the last couple uh so the everest uh we heading that way I would imagine on the back of that big track, Randwick. I can't thank my team enough, Brownie, the team in Sydney, he was up on the beach at James's, James Harding's, the Warwick Farm team and then you know he's been down here at Cranbourne, Joe, Jack, everyone that's had everything to do with him, it's just great to have a good horse back to his best and God he was he was electric then. He was incredible.
Speaker 2So there's Kiramar talking to Michael Felgate on racing.com, it was a great story wasn't it BZ, like he had his knockers, there was a few people doubting whether he could do what he did there yesterday.
Speaker 4And his form in fairness had been a little indifferent and not as sort of powerful as we'd come to know from Jimmy Starr and look they resumed at 1400 and it wasn't a race really where a lot of horses made ground when Baywuck was able to win the Memsie at maybe needed the run but you know fresh back in trip to 1200 with the blinkers on they jumped him out in between he jumped out brilliant and maybe he was just looking for that little bit of extra sort of kick along with the blinkers and it really narrowed his focus so he was back to his best yesterday and I thought the runner-up extra galactic you know Trent Edmonds picks up another group one placing with his mare and she was super the race worked out well she got a chance Charmstone sort of made a good fist of it and I thought extra galactic was was really brave in second but you can't take anything away
Speaker 2from the winner yeah Jimmy Starr what did he SP in the end $6.50 so he did have some support there yesterday Gator but that was Jimmy at his very best that was one of his best wins I reckon yeah
Speaker 3it was excellent I think that's a the way to ride him I know he's been closer to the speed and performed quite well I mean he was wide in last year's Everest and held third you know beat a lot of good horses home ridden more positively but I think he said he's a one when he's ridden this way yeah um a drier track as well fast time I think BZ's uh point is really salient look outside of him it was a mostly on speed race I think that's that merit to the win really fast time one eight and two um a bit of a tailwind but you know I was one of them that had given him life after that first up I want to say effort um you know but to credit to the stable that's what they do Kieran Ma Chris Waller the the great uh footy coaches mate that they get their athletes right and unlock the key to them and you know I caught that on the chin I was obviously cheering the runner up and I'll live another day but um the winner was just too good for us and
Speaker 2when you talk to the trial watchers It was Dean Evans from Winning Edge Investments that joined us on Friday. He said that horses aren't trialing as, they don't trial as good as Jimmy Starr's been trialing.
Speaker 4No, but he's done that through his career. That's not unusual.
Speaker 2And, but to get to see him do it on the racetrack, um, yeah. And the blinkers obviously worked as well.
Speaker 4So, but those horses, like they're not machines and, you know, getting them to sort of get everything right. And a number of the circumstances to fall into place, like you've only got to look at through some of these beaten margins last preparation, you know, it's half a length, it's a length. Like at that level, it's not a lot needs to go wrong for you to lose that margin. And you're up against other, you know, top trainers with top horses and they can just be better than you on the day, but it all worked out really well for Jimmy Starr yesterday. And he, and he showed that brilliant acceleration that he's got.
Speaker 2I think Chris Waller and Cadolphin probably realize now that Baywack Gators are 1400, maybe a mile in now, not a sprinter.
Speaker 3Yeah, he's another nice sort of risk to some extent. I've got one right and one wrong, but, um, yeah, I think he's a, he just doesn't, he doesn't get in the same rhythm at 1200, you know, the, the human analogy is pretty simple. You know, I think you can, there's a lot of dynamite, 400, 800 meter runners. If they come back to 200, they're just going to be outspread. So, um, you know, that, that's what, what I see in him. I think they were looking at an Everest. I think they'll probably go to plan B now, but I'll leave that to them. Um, you know, I think again, BZ's pointer and Jimmy Starr's really, it wasn't as if he had massive excuses the last sort of five runs, but he had little ones, you know, little things. Most part of the track, little things. Um, and when everything pans out well and, and he's, he's fit and flying, he's that horse.
Speaker 2Extra Galactic will live another day. Who will win a group one first?
Speaker 4Well, Extra Galactic's probably got a few more opportunities because she can stick to mares only, but both are very nice, you know, improving horses. And, um, Trent Edmonds has to be commended for the way that he's managed this mare. Like he purchased her as a yearling. He's, um, gone out on a limb to pay a fair bit of money for a small mare. And, uh, he's, he's managed her, uh, preparation really well. Last campaign went oh, so close to getting that group one. Um, the Moyer didn't really work out first up, but that was more circumstantial and he was pretty vocal pre-race saying she's probably looking for a dry track, but we've got to run here and they scratched the week before. So, um, I don't know whether they get a slot in the Everest or do they look to try and stay here for a champion sprint or do they sort of just drop it back to mare's grade and aim up in the autumn for races like the Oakley plate? And then. Maybe go back to Adelaide next year, but, um, she's going to be consistent at that top level. If she can hold that form, which you'd like to think there's still more improvement to come and all of another day, like he, he wasn't beaten all that far back around a bend. Um, he's probably looking for a track that's got a little bit more given it. We know that he can sell in those conditions, but you know, he's, he's still very lightly raced and has a lot of upside to come. Katie, what do you do at giggy kick?
Speaker 3Um, so similar to Jimmy star before the race. Um. Um, I'm happy to work against him every time I see him on the foot in the form guide. He just needs everything to go right. You know, he just needs a lot, you know, a lot more things than the first two runs to go right. And he's still competitive and capable at the level, but, um, he's not one of those horses that can overcome these things anymore. I don't think.
Speaker 2Yeah. He just needs the right set up as marks are pointed out after the race. Um, Jamie might said my gladiologist didn't feel the same horse. So hopefully she pulls up.
Speaker 4Okay. I think she's just a much better horse at a thousand meters, maybe 1100 max fresh. Um, they got the group one with her and it would all worked out perfectly for on that occasion, um, completely different circumstances at Caulfield yesterday and other horses improved and she probably regressed the touch. But, um, I, I think if they just sort of recalibrate her and try and find the right opportunity, she can be highly effective at a thousand meters.
Speaker 2So carrying risings, a dollar 35 for the Everest, he'll trial on Tuesday week. He got tempted at nine, um, guest house at 15. I don't know what they do with him. Now, um, whether he continues on and pushes onto the Everest, jolly star 15 will woven 15 angel capital, 17 Baywax, 17. You're still getting $17. Jimmy star. It's not much of a betting race though, is it? Like they should have a market outside of carrying rising. He should be shorter Jimmy star after what we saw there on Saturday. So, um, he'll get a slot down on the Everest. So that'll be announced. I reckon this week, sometime Jimmy star, um, even have another crack at trying to climb the highest mountain in racing gator.
Speaker 3Yeah. I would imagine off that performance, he's well and truly back on the radar. I haven't spoken to anyone, um, in relation to that. But, um, would you give him the
Speaker 2tick after watching there on Sunday?
Speaker 3So in the last meeting with, with tab, I said, I think I've given Jimmy life. So I look like a fan now, but, um, but he's certainly back on the radar and he's well and truly in that conversation. Second to fifth.

Park, the home celestial legend brewing in the Doncaster mile at group one level and tough in the Randwick Guinea's at group one level as well. And lower river, the devastating winner of the group one Dubai world cup and the son of size sensation into mischief talking about sensations. What about pride of Jenny yesterday? She won her third fee in stacks with
Speaker 5another will Zambardo getting off their backs and then came treasure the moment into the straight at the 300 pride of Jenny had reserves two and a half. Another will Mr. Bright sides beat and Zambardo. Down the outer pride of Jenny at the 150 still a good two and a half treasure the moment Zambardo pride of Jenny going great guns. It's a three-peat that has thrilled us all pride.
Speaker 2Well, pride of Jenny. I reckon that's really the best I've seen her first up. It was just hands and heels by Declan Bates and she looked in magnificent form there Gator pride of Jenny in her first run as a nine-year-old, which is quite remarkable.
Speaker 3Yeah, I was looking midweek at the stats. It's not good for nine-year-olds from a punning perspective, you know, massively below sort of profit on turnover, blah, blah, blah. But sometimes you're just too fast, you know, so straight to the front and kept running simple as that. In fairness to the race or putting a little asterisk, I guess, on the race is that Mr. Bright and another will have significantly underperformed Zambardo loom to win and then his last hundred was poor. I'm pounding ran past him for God's sake. Um, he's going well though. That horse is in the treasure of the moment. Good to see her back. You know, she ran well along in such as clear second bed, but it's all about the winner. I've just got a little asterisk on the race. That's all. Yeah.
Speaker 2I think she got a few of our opposition, not at their best, but, um, when you talk to Kira Mar, no, it's not her fault. And Tony on a brain, um, obviously the team behind her. And there is a big team like Tony on a brain. He spends a lot of money on her, getting her right. Um, um, even when she's not at Kiramar stable to make sure she's, um, ready to go when she goes back into work. But, um, yeah, she was awesome.
Speaker 4Yeah. It all worked out perfectly for her. Um, she got a sole control, which you'd expect she's going to get anyway. There's not too many horses that can sort of match her in the middle stages, but, um, she was able to just sort of build into the race as she wanted to. Um, there was clearly no disadvantage for, for horses to be up on speed. And she kicked away from some Gallopers in behind her. Probably not at the peak of their powers, but regardless, it's still a great training performance. Um, she trialed with a lot of zest that looked as though she was coming to the races, um, full of sort of confidence and Kieran and his team had her in a great spot. She was well supported. Plenty of punters were cheering her and, um, uh, Tony, and he had a big group of, of owners up in the promenade restaurant yesterday. And as he come back to the restaurant after the next race, he had the trophy above his head, sort of, uh, giving it a big salutes. Everyone was giving a big cheer. So it was good to see she's a popular horse and it's great for racing.
Speaker 2So pride of Jenny 350 for the Empire Rose. Autumn Glow is the favorite. She won't be there. She's alibi won't be there. Idle Fly probably will go down that path. Lady Shenandoah can't go with Jenny. History tells you that over 1600 meters. Changing Colors. Now she's at $11. I don't know if we've got that replay. We might show that replay of Changing Colors because Lucy Yeomans can take a bow. This is one of the best stories yesterday. This horse was trained by Chris Williams. While obviously, um, the connections decided that Chris could only get that much out of Changing Colors. And they gave Lucy Yeomans an opportunity to, to train this mare. And, um, she just keeps on winning for Lucy and Blake Sheehan, who was in the saddle. And this was her toughest test today at group two level with the rail at the 13 meters from the gate that she had to overcome. But she was far too good for opposition yesterday at Caulfield.
Speaker 5A gap private legacy, Moonlight Circus and Cherise Sassapio. Around the turn at the 300 meters from two down discreet. Glasgow last behind them. Changing Colors is now starting to glide down the center of the track. Sassapio at the 200. Changing Colors moves up the outside. The favorites will fight it out at the 100. Changing Colors goes to the lead from Sassapio. This was a big one for Lucy Yeomans. Changing Colors won it by a link.
Speaker 2So Changing Colors wins easily. And when you were looking at that particular race, you thought, geez, Danny O'Brien's mare, Sassapio, is going to be hard to beat with the setup.
Speaker 4But this man just keeps on getting better Yeah, I had a good bet on Sassapiel. I thought she'd just lead and dominate and kick away. And she had every chance. And changing colours just put her to the sword late. So that's now, what, four wins on the bounce since joining Lucy's team. She put the blinkers on first up and was a good run at Flemington when she ran fourth. And since then, it's just gone bang, bang, bang, bang. You've got to have a crack at an Empire Rose now, don't you, with a mare like that? Like, her values increased dramatically after that Group 2 victory yesterday. But why not try and get a Group 1 placing if you can? And if you can happen to get a win, so be it.
Speaker 2We were laughing about this the other day in a good way, Gators. But since changing colours, has changed her colours to braise colours, she's just jumped out of the ground. She's found her two extra legs, basically.
Speaker 3Yeah, it says a number of things for me. One is that, you know, a good trainer gets a good horse to win more often. Here's a quote from the immortal Colin Hayes. And secondly, you know, credit to Waller and his team because, you know, well, horses don't generally leave that stable and improve. But it says a lot about the care and nurture, I think, of them with their athletes. So there's a number of ways to look at it. She had the perfect run, but she won well. Things set up really well when Sassapiel did get a little bit of pressure. The other one in the market too, Dundas Group, was given no hope. And unfortunately, what I see broke down. So, yeah, so on the clock, I mean, Pride of Jenny would have beaten her five or six lengths. So, you know, that's. That's a problem. But how do you knock her? She's going great guns. And she'll be competitive without winning, I think, those big group ones.
Speaker 2Even though she got beat on the weekend, Concord Connie, would you still have her over changing colours in an Empire Rose gate? Or has Sunday's performance changed your minds regarding those two mares?
Speaker 3Right now, I'd still take Concord Connie, given her upside. But, gee, it's not a hill I'd die on. No. Yeah, it
Speaker 4was a bad circumstance for Concord Connie there on Saturday because. She was first up over 1,200 at Mornington and there was a drama in the barriers prior to the start. Three horses were scratched. Two of them were the expected leaders. A lot of pace came out of that race. It turned into a complete dawdle. And I think if Jet Stanley had his time again, he probably would have just rolled forward and gone and sat outside the leader. But it turned into a muddling run race. It got very ugly. It turned into a dash home. And she just missed by the barest of margins. But I'd be. I wouldn't be putting. Yeah, I wouldn't be putting that down as a true indicator of where Concord. Concord Connie's at. Like, she's going to improve with fitness. She's going to be better when she gets onto a big track. She'll be better at the 1,400, maybe even a mile. So, yes, she was beaten. And it doesn't look great when she's a $1.30 favourite. But I wouldn't be giving up on Concord Connie off that.
Speaker 2On the Garrett's Horse and Hound text line, hi, the performance of Changing Colours and trainer Lucy Yeomans is great to see small stables improve from benchmark to Group 2 mares. And Jockey B, she's in great ride. That's from Keith. Yeah, it was. And some of the footage I saw of Lucy Yeomans cheering on her mare and the emotion after the race, in the trainer's room there at Caulfield, was sensational. 25 minutes past eight, we're going to have a chat about some brilliant three-year-old performances across the weekend next.

Speaker 2And the Golden Rose was at Sydney Group 1 level yesterday or Saturday at Rose Hill. I think that we might have seen the Caulfield Guineas winner. I know that Trent Bussard and Natalie Younger got a good one, but what about this performance by the son of Soda State there in Saturday's Group 1 Golden Rose, Sydney's premier three-year-old event for the spring?
Speaker 7From under focus, then plagiarism. Warwoven looking to slice into the clear. St Goddard gets going. Tenenbaum hanging tough. Guesthouse has got it all to do. Warwoven makes the move now at the 200 and spread it quickly. And Warwoven opens up by two lengths on under focus. Then came St Goddard and a gap back to the rest. But Warwoven, a brilliant winner in the Golden Rose. Absolutely straight in them.
Speaker 2So he's $2.75, gated with bet $3.65 for the Caulfield Guineas. Blind raise, $4. Who was midfield there, but it wasn't a bad run. He's at $7. And you got St Goddard at $11. Diameter at $11, we'll talk about shortly. And then Cormie Coach at $13. It was impressive there Friday night at Cranbourne. And Campion D'Atelier, $13. Stormy Marco, $13. Under focus, $15. And Central Europe should be $100 to $1. I'm finally dropped off Central Europe. But geez, he's always been a good horse, Warwoven, gated. But he surprised me. Oh, well, he's come back this time around.
Speaker 3No, Campion should be $700 to $1 then. But yeah, look, he was dynamite on Saturday. That was a fearsome speed. $46.1, first $800, if you don't mind. Off a standing start. So Central Europe's gone along, thinking he's Brazil Bay. Warwoven sat off. And he travelled strongly off that speed, didn't he? He travelled so, so strongly. He looked to have so much under the bonnet. And he did. When the gap came, he put them to the sword and raced away. The margin, significant time, outstanding. 0.1 off a track record, if you don't mind, for a new season three-year-old. And yeah, look, second and third ran really well. But the margin was too great, you know, to take anything else out of it. An outstanding performance. And look, he's bred to run a mile, no worries. On the dam side, at least. So we'll see.
Speaker 4Easy. Very similar win in the time and the margin of Bayvox. And I think he's going to be a little bit better than he was last year. And I probably wouldn't just be giving up on some of the beaten brigade out of that race in St. Goddard and Tron Bolt from a Corford Guineas perspective, because we did see that with Autumn Boy last year. A similar style of performances where, you know, third run, 1600 meters. Chris Waller continues to leave a little bit in the tank when he does have horses that are sort of expected to progress deeper into their campaigns. But, you know, Bjorn Baker was at his absolute best there on Saturday with his performances on the track and these carry on sort of off the track. He doesn't mind beating his chest and promoting himself, but it's fantastic. And he was saying Corford Guineas, Cox Plate, it's all on the agenda for Warwoven. And it'd be fantastic to see his team arrive here in Melbourne and hopefully they can continue to hit the track like they have been in Sydney.
Speaker 2From a Coolmore point of view, guest house, $7. He had a bumping duel with St. Goddard. I'll chase up a report there from the Kent Junior and Price table, see how he is.
Speaker 4I had to try him at $14. $1400 meters. And look, the circumstances didn't really work out. Do they go back to the well and continue down that path or do they just sort of pigeonhole him as a real dynamic sprinter? There's some options there for the team to work out. But, yeah, he's a better horse than what he produced there on Saturday. And maybe coming back in trip, we can see the best of him.
Speaker 3Gator? Yeah, we're all smart after the race. But I didn't tip him on Saturday. You know, $1100 to $1400 second up, five weeks between runs. It's not easy. It's not easy to do, especially if you've pulled up a little bit scratchy after that first up winning track record time as well. So, I just think you need more things to go right, you know, to win a big group one, especially in that sort of time. You know, I don't know too many going into grand finals or Olympics, you know, athletes and performing really well when they're not right at their top. So, it was an even effort, let's say, with some excuses. I liked the run of St. Goddard who got in that bumping duel as well. I think you can clearly say should have finished closer. But, you know, I tipped under focus and I thought he ran really well. Like, he went forward, he got into a good spot and they're going along at 46 and decides to improve mid-race and go up in fifth second. He hit the front, lays out and he got windburn from all woven. But he would have been sitting back giggling at under focus doing all that work. And Tenenbaum ran well given he pulled up lame. There's a race in him as well.
Speaker 2I think the Cornwall stud stakes, however, is wide open. I know we're a little while off this feature. So, we've got a sprint race down the straight for the three-year-olds at the start of the Flemington Carnival, but natural fling trialed nicely. We get to see the next episode shortly, maybe this Saturday. He's at $9. There's a few other horses that have been trialing well as well. Rhys Goodwin's horse.

Speaker 4Yeah, well, Saturday's Danehill stakes is a real fork in the road for a lot of those three-year-olds. They'll tell their connections whether they are worthy of continuing on to a Cornwall or whether they need to lower their sights and aim up for something else. But you'll see the blend of Sydney horses starting to come down to Melbourne. You see some Melbourne horses really ramping up their preparation. So, we're only, what, a month out basically from Derby Day. So, yeah, things aren't too far away from heating right up.
Speaker 2Diamonder was good in the stud stakes, defeating the stable mate Something's Burnin' right on the wire there yesterday.
Speaker 5400 metres to go. Schiaroli showing its head with Boy's Bounce. Lara Antropova now made a line of three. diameter behind those followed by Something's burning. It's Boyce bounce up to Scarola at the 200. Lara Antepova's just not kicking on at the moment. And Something's burning's gone past it. Diameter's got the split two at the 100. Something's burning's gone to the front. Diameter coming at it. Something's burning. Diameter, head bobber. Oh, that's close.
Speaker 2If you back Something's burning, you're being, like, he's been a frustrating horse to back this preparation. You think you're going to win there, and Diameter got the right bob at the right time.
Speaker 4He did, but looking at how that race sort of panned out, you'd say that if Diameter got the run earlier, he probably should have won by a little further. But I think it's fair to assume that those two horses from the Chris Waller team are not on the same sort of level as St. Goddard and Tron Bold in terms of their seeding for the Corford Guineas. I think they would be a little further down the pecking order, and that's not unfamiliar for Chris Waller in that he keeps his better colts up in Sydney for the Golden Rose. He sends the ones that he thinks can be competitive down to Melbourne, and then they'll match up into the Guineas, but he's going to have, potentially, four horses there that could be highly competitive.
Speaker 3Gator? Yeah, look, I agree. I think the right horse won. The margin wasn't great, but he had a good run, but then just had to force a really tight gap and did something that's been a perfect ride. Couldn't have panned out any better. You know, midfield too wide, improved with the trail, was right there to strike at the right time and just missed. Scorolli was gallant, joined straightening up and looked in trouble, but showed great reserve of courage and went down swinging. They had a little gap on the rest of those three.
Speaker 2We've got a new favourite now for the Thousand Guineas with Bet365 after the Jim Maloney stakes yesterday.
Speaker 5Regal Ambition, Ruby's choice, Kototo Boy to cheese. By choice, Grinzinger hard around the corner at the 300 metres. Pretty Baby hoik to the outside with also Regal Ambition and they're making their runs together. Regal Ambition and Pretty Baby go to the front, halfway up the straight. Regal Ambition drew a nick in front of Pretty Baby, who's not done it. Regal Ambition from Pretty Baby. Regal Ambition draws on and won it by a lick. Pretty Baby, platinum.
Speaker 2That was impressive, Gaten. It looks like she's just going to get better as well. Hands and heels from Mickey D and wet or dry. I think Regal Ambition does deserve to start favourite now for the Thousand Guineas and she's at $4. Pretty Baby at $4.50. He lost, I don't think, she didn't lose any admirers there yesterday, but she is probably better on a track with a little bit more give in it.
Speaker 3Yeah, I think that's. Fair, you know, obviously going into Sunday, you know, the Bureau said, oh, it might be one to three mils then. Oh, no, sorry, 17 mils. Oh, no, no, sorry, now it's four to five mils. Oh, no, now 15 mils. Yeah. Awesome. Anyway, so Pretty Baby and I Live Another Day would have loved some of that. Rain to fall, she was good, the runner-up, but winner better. You know, slow into stride, tail, made ground three wide before the turn, so they didn't get a card into the race, yet run over. So they didn't do them anyway, just start number three. So she was excellent, stack of upsides still to come. Platinum Pearl should have finished closer, and they beat the rest clearly.
Speaker 4Yeah. Yeah, the winner's very impressive. She has claims that she should be unbeaten. She was a tragedy beaten at her first start at Ballarat. She come back with a good win at Sandown, which was slow out and probably still a little bit underdone. They've turned the screws a little bit more with her on the weekend, and she looks like she's got the perfect preparation now, going into the Thousand Guineas at her next run, a couple of weeks between. Up to the mile. She sat on the favorites back and went straight past them. Maybe Pretty Baby just does need that sting out of the track to show her best. She certainly wasn't poor there yesterday, but she was clearly beaten by a better filly, I thought, on their merits. So I think the market's right in putting Regal Ambition as the new favorite.
Speaker 2A few text messages coming through regarding Mr. Brightside. I should have mentioned this when we're going through the fee and stakes, but he's pulled up okay, the champ. He wasn't at his best there yesterday. I don't think he can follow that hot speed. Like he, once upon a time, he was able to do following pride of Jenny. So they will regroup the Lindsay Park team. He's definitely not going to be retired. I think they're going to give him one more crack at it. And it looks like it will be the crystal mile on Cox Plate Day.
Speaker 4And at some stage, Father Time's going to catch up with these horses. And he's come back off, you know, an injury. They did a really good job to get him into the race first up and he was well positioned and he stuck on quite well to finish second. And the last two runs have been sort of below what you'd expect of him, but I don't think that's a total shock to anyone. Like you just can't keep, expect to see these horses just getting better and better every campaign. I know pride of Jenny sort of coming out and doing that, but she's a little bit of an exception to the rule. He's been a superstar for so many years, but you know, maybe the curtain is starting to be drawn on Mr.
Speaker 2Brightside's career. And just on that race again there, Gator, there's another question coming through regarding Treasure of the Moment. Is she back or not? Would you be backing her in a Caulfield Cup after watching her there on Sunday?
Speaker 3I'll stick with a hundred to one for her. And the Caulfield Cup and wait, expect my phone to light up from Sharky, but, um, the, um, yeah, no, she was good. Much better, you know, solid clear second best. Yep. Um, but when, when there's the others have significantly underperformed, it does put a little, still a little asterisk on. And also I'm not totally convinced 2,500 either.

Speaker 2Over the bridge. Well, Zara owned that race. Three wide without cover. Um, you knew that she would be hard to beat. Because I don't think he went to the AFL Grand Final. Because he had to ride 56 on the Sunday. Because of this Philly. Um, but yeah, it was a big victory by her. Obviously Kiramar's got his new business in the micro shares unbridled. And this is one of their first horses as part of that group. So it's an important win for Kiramar and that organization. I think out of all of those victories there yesterday, um, that might've been the most satisfying one in a way, or most important one in a way. She's a talented Philly.
Speaker 4Bendigo maiden winner only a couple of weeks ago. And when markets first opened on this race on Wednesday. There was some sharp punters that were just keen to zone Bang. Bang. In on over the bridge. And you can take a step back and go, geez, Bendigo maiden winner up against some Phillies that had been stakes performed at two and three, and they had the sexier form, so to speak. But I think it just proves that at this time of the season, just because a horse has had one start or two starts, doesn't mean that it can't match it with horses that have been sort of progressing through those better races. They can really emerge quickly in their three-year-old season, especially in the spring. And she's clearly one that they didn't test as a two-year-old, but she's obviously got a lot of ability. And. I'm not sure. I'm not sure whether she might end up going up in distance because they did have her entered for a 1400 meter race at Cranbourne on Friday night, but scratched in favor of this. But do they keep her as a sort of 1200 meter sprinter through the rest of the, the campaign, or do they look to try and step her up in trip? There's so many options for her, but she was outstanding.
Speaker 2I reckon there's that nice little million dollar three-year-old Phillies race at the back end of the carnival at Caulfield that might be right up her alligator.
Speaker 3Yeah. Good call. The first three were all terrific here, I thought. But the winner. Winner's done it a little bit harder than the other two and still beat them at only start number two. So, um, yeah, she was, she was terrific. Wasn't she, you know, I know there's one turn Corky odd, but. The reality is that I'm our installation. Both had a, you know, that fraction softer, uh, only a length over the three of them. Uh, roughly I'm Zara ran enormous. She just, uh, just couldn't quite hold off over the bridge. Installation led good. And that Frank's that Totono go, um, overexcited format of the captain teams. Which was one in fast time. Calamari ring best of the closers. Sharon, once she blew the start, her race was over.
Speaker 2Threads was good in the first leading all of the way. I think surprised a few with her tactical speed.
Speaker 4He was able to punch up and really, yeah, it was a good ride from Blake. Shin sort of, um, making a really, uh, aggressive play in the, in the early stages. The favorite there was disappointing in tales of time. Um, I know Clinton McDonald reported that, um, Ben Mellum suggested the horse was just very green and new, and they need to go back to the drawing board with him because they did have sort of cool, more stud stakes ambitions with him, which is sort of a long way from where he was yesterday. So you want to go in
Speaker 2between horses, which is not ideal when you're a racehorse gator.
Speaker 3No, no, no. You can't have too many chinks in your arm. I want you to get to the top of the, um, the tree. Those, those little things become greater. Don't they? And that's the same in any sport. So she's done a good job. She absorbed pressure, had a pest outside her kick to him. One. Gee, if I'm taking the horse. Forward, that's job, but, uh, it was all at sea three out there. No cover looked absolutely lost. Um, still ran about like a drunken sailor and still savaged the line. If you'd like to have a share in her name on was good. Also, um, you know, again, very new, um, they ran time here as well. So I think there's some good, um, yeah, some good three, I feel these that are emerging, uh, you know, that didn't compete in those a pluses as B you know, it's two year olds at BZs reference.
Speaker 2We'll touch on. these other two races before we take a break and go to the Garrard's Horse and Hounty text line, but Royal Supremacy led all of the way. Jack Turnbull, great tipping. Future History second. Dark Bonnie was fifth. Horses that you need to be following out of that race, Gator.
Speaker 3Well, the winner's only second up, you know, and he had 60 kilos. They told me he was flying. I didn't tip him anyway, so I'm pretty smart for the guy. First to home, gap rest. Dark Bonnie wide, no cover, forgive.
Speaker 4Easy. Yeah, I think the winner's probably got more upside than most, carried the weight, as Gator referenced, was sort of early in the campaign, and you'd assume there's more improvement to come. I sort of was hoping that, see, that Storm could improve back on top of the ground, but maybe that's just about his level. I thought this runner-up was great, but maybe a few of those. Maybe Torrenzino will just continue to improve with racing like he was only fresh early into the campaign, so I wouldn't be too critical of his chances, but there are only fringe players there. I don't know if there's any horses that are going to emerge from that race and be major players in the spring.
Speaker 2Poor old Royal Supremacy. He doesn't probably get the credit. He deserves, after winning that $1.5 million Queensland QE 22, I think, whatever that race is. Well, prize money if you owned him, I wouldn't mind it. Yeah, went 16 seconds of furlong that race, and everyone thought he was gifted. But still, he won again this prep, and he did it easily there on Sunday. And then Regal Soos back on top of the ground was the key for Johnny McArdle's horse there, who led all the way, BZ.
Speaker 4Yeah, I expected a bit more pressure in that race. I thought Lim Soltoro would be one that'd be charging along, and might add a bit more spice to the early part of it. But once they took a hold, it was a race of little change. And Bucklew drew wide. They went back. Harry's Yacht went back. I think both riders were probably anticipating a little bit more pressure in the first half, and then were expecting they'd get home late. But once they got into their positions, they just sort of stayed where they were. But I wouldn't be giving up on Bucklew. I think it was more circumstantial than anything. Maybe, I don't know, did they press on towards a two-rack? I'm not sure. Or did they just lower the sights and keep him on those sort of group two, group three races around that 1,400 metres? There's a few options there. But I wouldn't be giving up on him just yet.
Speaker 3Gator? Yeah, not many win with that run he had. And he had a shock, the other one I thought would be leading, and they all took a sit. So, yeah, but Regals, you can't win 12 races if you're no good.

Yes. Question here, lads. Does E Brown ride Jimmy in the Everest? After that win, he'll stay in Melbourne. And for the Caulfield Cup favourite, we'll chase that up. That's a good question because he's got to ride 53 and a half on Saran. Would he get there on that line? I don't know if he would. Well, Ozzy Kerr told us that he wants to.

So I think Jamie Mellon got that much for not even competing in that race when that Codolphin three-year-old Colt played up at the gates and was taken out. Simply sensational performance of the week. The Mars Stable, five winners on a big race day. It was one of Kieran Marr's best days. He's had a few great days on a racetrack. But to have his two pride and joys and pride of Jenny and Jimmy Starr do that and make the statements that they did, I reckon would have been one of his better days.
Speaker 4His horses are flying. And I know it's easy for people to sit back and say, well, he's got huge numbers, you know, so he should dominate. But not even just in the main races on a Saturday, his horses on the fringe, like your Mondays and your Tuesdays, your Wednesday meetings, they're all running really, really well. So, you know, hats off to all the team. They've certainly hitting the mark with their horses at this stage.
Speaker 2What a guy to think of the run of Platinum Pearl. I reckon Jamie gets out. She wins the race.
Speaker 3Yeah, she was good, you know, and I think the Quinella are pretty smart. So Regal Ambition we've touched on, Pretty Baby was coming off four or five straight wins, including a dominant win in the Atlantic Jewel. And Platinum Pearl just held up at such a key stage. The Quinella got full momentum and put three lengths on her. She picked up and closed off two and a half lengths of the margin. So in my notes, clearly should have finished closer without saying, you know, should have won.
Speaker 2Gator, what did you make of the performance of Central Europe? This is from Joel and the change of tactics. Do you think that? The punters should have been told about the change of tactics with Central Europe. I had an inkling that might happen with the booking of Tim Clarke. And we mentioned that on, I think Gator's game plan on Thursday.
Speaker 3Yeah, we did. We mentioned that wonder if that'll suit him, but not many can go 46 mate, first 800 and win, not many.
Speaker 2I think if they had their time again, they would probably want to go slow if they found the front, but he had to work to get to that spot. The change of tactics, I've said this and I'll keep on saying it. It's a waste of time. The sooner they get rid of that rule, the better, because all it does is confuse the punters at the end of the day. And then it's, it's not fair. I don't think I'm participants either.

Speaker 3Yeah. Well, I've got no reason to doubt him, you know? And, uh, I heard beyond Baker, you know, he, he said certainly for. And there might be an issue and he's, he's damn was a really strong 2000 meter horse. So I don't have any reason to doubt him at a mile whatsoever.

Speaker 8i've been up there the sydney side is a belted belt twice i don't think i'd want to go up there again but like i said it's all karen's um call um you know do we go up there i mean she's to travel up you know out of her environment that she's really comfortable with but she likes it up there as well and uh you know i didn't happen to travel her back i think um two years ago when we tried that and um went to the cox plate i think that was a that was a fail um we were hoping that you'd be able to do it but it didn't work out we've learned from our mistakes um and we don't want to repeat them so i can't see that happening actually going going up north but again it's karen's call she's a much different horse now than she was three years ago she's a much different horse now than she was three years ago she's a much much more relaxed course um as a as i said when they're relaxed they they travel a lot more economically and they're just smooth they just got a rhythm um in the cox plate a couple of years ago she was very jeered up um the other horses around her were jeering up as well they all went forward and uh you know just just um she she burned up a lot of a lot of energy just uh you know just trying to keep to the front so she's much better they try that today i know i don't think they'll get away with it so um yeah she's a great horse man so what
Speaker 2other races are there if she has a run in three weeks time like um well i don't know mate i mean you guys maybe you won't go to 2000 so um yeah it is interesting but she is back which is great and the crowd they tell me was sensational yesterday cheering her on there
Speaker 8tony yeah oh yeah they're fantastic you know um kyle um kyle thompson with the website that part of jenny.com he did a great job you know he had a couple girls out there they were selling pins and the plushies and uh a lot of people walking around with the plushies it was really fun the kids were coming up with the plushies and uh we took some photos with pride of jenny and some of the kids as well um it was great just to see walking around with those plushy things and uh yeah no the whole place um really enjoyed what they what they saw and one of the guys came back to me and said hey mate the bookies have taken the uh her horse and we're going to have her horse and i'm going to have her horse off the off the uh bedding board they don't they don't take in any more bets on it they don't anything else except that yeah so that was incredible so that just goes to show you not only the support um you know from from uh from that is also the money that they're putting on it so yeah it was a great day

Wallwoven makes the move now at the 200 and spread it quickly and Wallwoven opens up by two lengths on under focus. Then came St Goddard and a get back to the rest but Wallwoven a brilliant winner in the Golden Rose. St Goddard tried hard.

So that was absolutely fantastic and I thought my luck might be running out after the two and then to see Wallwoven win and the way he did win was just electric. That turn of foot he was
Speaker 2phenomenal. What does it mean to you and especially for your business to get a horse to do that in a stallion making race like he did there on Saturday?
Speaker 9I guess it helps a heap in terms of having a colt and not just the value of the colt and where he could head possibly afterwards but it does probably make my business much more commercial. You're able to get probably a lot of the breeders and the bigger investors will think that you can deliver in the big time and also it's great. We'll be able to hopefully he can get a good stud offer one day get the stud and you've got a lot of young Wallwovens coming through and that can be very exciting too. So from a commercial point of view in terms of my business it's not necessarily about Saturday it's going forward to the yearling sales at the start of the year. Obviously Magic Millions he was a Magic Millions purchase we'll be able to be strong there again and the whole time you're looking to recruit and it really starts by getting the young horses in and getting the quality horses in and the more numbers and the better quality you've got the better the chance I've got of getting another Wallwoven. So very very important going forward and you've always got to look long term. So as well as that I've got some great clients in this horse. They've been huge supporters already. It definitely cements that bond because Keora bred the horse. They've got a lot of horses and it's great to have them involved too. So they're really really exciting and we'll be able to push forward with a bit of confidence.
Speaker 2He just didn't win he smashed him.
Speaker 9Yes he did. He was and I thought he could run really well. I thought it worked out beautifully in the race. It was a great ride Rachel but yeah to win that race is a special the way he did it. Yeah it was. I definitely got a little bit of a tingle down the spine when they went for him. He was great.
Speaker 2Now the two Kiwis going at each other in a group one Caulfield Guineas. Wallwoven 275 with bet 365 and Victoria's Big Hope is blind raised trained by Trent Busset and Natalie Young your great mate. Of course Trent stays with you when he campaigns his horses in Sydney. He's at $4 and then Trombolt who was okay as well there in the Golden Rose at $7. And you must be looking forward to getting him to Caulfield now.
Speaker 9Yeah and I was lucky enough to be down there yesterday. Didn't quite work out in the Manicato but it was a good day and I think the mile's going to be really good for him. No doubt blind raised was super last time. Didn't have the smoothest runs and he's going to be hard to beat and obviously Trent and Natalie great friends. I stay with them down there and vice versa and even a lot of the ownership group in blind raised I know very very well. So it'll be a bit of a challenge but I think it's going to be a good race. It's going to be a bit of a grudge match and that's what it's all about but hopefully one of us can get the chocolates.
Speaker 2One game at a time as they say but if you do win a Caulfield Guineas would you go to a Cox Plate with him?
Speaker 9Oh look you've got a dream and it's one of the great races and if he could win the Caulfield Guineas and if he could recover as well as he did out of the Golden Rose he is phenomenal. He's got a much better constitution than his trainer so would definitely consider it. He's still in the Cox Plate but very much one step at a time and initially he's come through the Golden Rose really well.
Speaker 2Paradoxium, he's your other star three year old. How's he going and when do we get to see him next?
Speaker 9He will go to the Roman Consul on the 10th of October at Rose Hill, Group 2 over 1200 and he's going to have a gallop between races on Wednesday and I couldn't be happier with him. He's just, every time I see him he's absolutely thriving. He's got a marvellous temperament, I'm very lucky to have him and wall waving and the boxes next door to each other and no I can't wait till the 10th of October. I'm really excited about him, ideally then he'll go down to the Coolmore, of course he was very good winning at Flemington first up and I think he's come on a fair bit from that as well.
Speaker 2So the average has been ruled out?
Speaker 9Well it's not in consideration. It's not in consideration at the moment, but things can change as you know.
Speaker 2When you're on fire like you, when you're on fire you should be able to do what you want. There was a few horses heading towards the Everest that won't be heading to the Everest I would imagine after the weekend so there might be a few more spots available. Mr Zhang, he should be able to afford one if he wants one again?
Speaker 9Yeah we'll see what happens and of course Blue Door, I've got her, I've got Cabalos, the new market winner, Overpass. She was fourth last year and as a trainer it's a very good race to have a runner, not just from a money point of view but it does help Gareth, but from a marketing point of view it's actually a pretty special day. They have done remarkably well to make it the event it is so it's really a special day in terms of the racing calendar with the Caulfield Cup on the same day as well.
Speaker 2Blue Door, everyone thought maybe 1100mph. Whether that last 50mph might see her out, but Nasha Ball, she never looked like getting beat there on Saturday.
Speaker 9Yeah she was really good and she's a filly that I've had a lot of time for, she, well look she was really good in her first two runs and she got beaten by Gisthaus who's the champion, two year old Colton. They broke a track record that day so she definitely ran up that form, I thought she was great, she's recovered really well. I think she's a really good runner, she's a really good runner. I think she's a really good runner.
Speaker 2heartbreaking and we probably don't see some of those lows that you experience behind the scenes with your horses each and every day so when you have these moments we saw you with the celebrations there with war woven um watching him win the golden rose and this is punt getting the job done in the dubbo gold cup there and this is you at caulfield this is what it's all about at the end of the day yeah
Speaker 9it is and you've got to enjoy it and uh it is a lot of things behind the scenes in terms of injuries and um some of those things are really tough not just for myself but but for the people that own and invest in these horses and yes it is it's it's definitely the highs and lows but i even in in terms of my stable i'm lucky i've got great people around me uh and we definitely enjoy the highs together but we also get through the lows as a team and and they're very much routine based so we're back at warwick farm this morning um try and do most of our updates get it out keep it real and um just roll on so of course tuesday morning's a big gallop morning for saturday so no but you've got to enjoy it and uh we definitely made the most of it on on saturday what are you
Speaker 2looking forward to most this saturday it's epsom day the two-year-old step out for the first time um it's an exciting weekend in sydney especially here in victoria we've got turnbull stakes day but you got the nrl grand final on the sunday so who are you looking forward to most on saturday
Speaker 9uh i must say when you look at the the next batch and i've got a really exciting um two-year-old hopefully that will be there on saturday called nonu a son of animo um he trialed really well another nice two-year-old fully called rhythm so already a sort of look towards the next generation um as well as that i think green spaces can run really well he definitely wasn't at his best last time in the metro i've got perfumist in the um epsom handicap i think unleashing will be very hard to beat with no weight as well on saturday so you can watch for her and then of course the week after i think paradoxium will go absolutely super now
Speaker 2just quickly a couple of questions beyond green spaces can we still be confident if we backed him in a melbourne cup
Speaker 9yeah no i think so a lot will depend on what happens this weekend but i think ideally the caulfield cup is the main aim if we can get him there we know he performs at 2400 melbourne cup still a little bit of a question you get out to two miles can be uh may be a a little bit of a different stamina test but he's definitely in good order and i think you can turn it around on

Speaker 10absolutely did gareth you know perfect run in transit if war woven had have won by 0.2 length should say perfect run blast but he's won by three lengths the dominant performance uh full credit to the team again bjorn as he sort of said you know a couple weeks ago he couldn't get a winner yeah and now he's just low flying that's just a great game we played but really impressive performance look the query was and i think we were right in querying it from the run of the rose you know sectionally we thought oh maybe maybe just a little bit weak um there comparatively to like a son gothard closing um turns out that uh horse probably wants 1400 meters and beyond so uh the great game just continues to evolve but you know really good wins and gothard um you know it's just a pointing to probably see from um you know some gothard and uh and guest house have a bit of a bumping jewel for i don't know let's call it 300 odd meters so they did themselves no favor zack lloyd and jay mack and maybe probably saw each other in their potential nearest dangers in the run and um a bit of margin decay from first to second i'd suggest that some guys i probably could have finished a lot closer guess house is he just at 1200 meters there's sort of 400 meters at the top you know if he doesn't have the pump does he win the race is he better third up plenty of questions to be uh asked and answered but um i think i think you can forgive guest house i think he could definitely forgive the margins and got hard and full credit to the winner otherwise the race just is what it is there gareth
Speaker 2who do you want to be going with for guest house or saint gothard guest house will go on towards an everest and then if he pulls up okay he'll go to the coolmore from the reports that we got back from michael kent jr and saint gothard i would imagine he would head towards the coolmore as well

So it was a day where we spoke about it, Gareth, that most of the best horses should rise to the top, and they pretty much did. Yeah, Luzura. You know, the track played beautifully. Luzura second up. The track played great. And, you know, Rose Hill, the more we can get this Rose Hill track rail in the true position and just race there and just, like, honestly, just leave it there. Just trust the track a bit more. Every time we get here in a true position, we get a great day of racing. Any time it goes three meters or beyond, it turns into a bit of a debacle.

Speaker 10Yeah, thoughts. Medazza was really good at a big price. I think ran into fifth, only beaten half a length. So he's starting to build to a win. We can follow him at some stage. Miss Space Girl, luckless not to win the midway. I think we'll be able to follow her. She'll be winning a race next time as well. So probably outside the obvious, Gareth, they're the two horses that we can probably follow to win a race next start.

Well, it was very, you know, it was always, it's always been leaderish and it was leaderish again for the whole, for the whole race. There was only two horses that really made ground all day and that was Hazy's, Hazy's filly that'll be very hard to beat in a thousand guinness. Correct. And, and Jimmy.
Speaker 2You want to get to the King's Gambit? I thought it was just a great weekend. I enjoyed that Sunday because Fakira May had a big day, obviously with the five winners, but the two, two of the best horses, I reckon he's put a bridle on, made two massive statements. Like pride of Jenny to do what she's doing as a nine-year-old mare. And that was her most arrogant victory that I've seen. Maybe the horses behind her weren't out of their best. And there's an argument for that, but the way that she did it, she proved that she's still loving the game. And as Tony Ottobre said, today, she could race on to, she's 10, maybe 11. She loves it that much. And then Jimmy Starr to do what he did, blinkers on 1400 to 1200. He's had his knockers. He'd been trialing the house down and then to accelerate like he did in a group one, like he did with Ethan Brown, a board was a great story within itself. And to have two exciting horses, like pride of Jenny to do it from the front end. And Jimmy Starr, he was like Chautauqua from the, back cause they don't do that in these sprint races, especially when the rails out the 30 meters, like it was there on Sunday. Um, it was a, it was, it was a great day of racing, two wonderful horses, um, in different ways, standing up and being counted for when it matters most Johnny.
Speaker 11Yeah. Look, I mean, I thought Jenny's run was, uh, was extraordinary, really. I mean, she was in real trouble. I thought on the corner and she just had her on the corner. She was sort of, I mean, you know, she generally free flows and finds that extra length and I thought, geez, they might get her, but she's just so strong and so tough. I saw Tony before the race and you know, I mean, what a, what a, what a great racing person, Tony Otterberry is like he's, um, he's now getting, uh, Darren Weir to do some of his pre-training cause Darren obviously got his license back. So Tony said he's been so busy at the, at the property that he's got him doing some of that. But he showed me some, um, some video and geez, I hope we get a chance to show it here and maybe you could ask Tony to do it, but. He was riding her a week and a half ago down at, um, down at his farm. Um, she knows the way around there that well, that she knows the swimming lane. She walks back into a box on her own. She puts her head straight into the feed bin. And I was sitting with Sarah and David who are in Jimmy star and you know, they're, they're, they're, they're new people, um, to the racing industry, but. But just to see their face, the way Tony was talking and sharing the footage and stuff, it really, it really makes you. You love the game, you know, and I was so happy she won. So that was huge. And then obviously Jimmy was just incredible.
Speaker 2We'll get to Jimmy in just a moment while we're on pride of Jenny. We'll show her, um, performing like she did to win her third fee and stakes. But as a nine-year-old mayor, Wayne, like she's just built differently, isn't she? Like he can say, well, it's a great training performance by Kiramar to do what he's been able to do with her, but she's just a remarkable athlete as we watch her. Speaker 12She's incredible, you know, for the way that she goes out and she never has an easy run. Like she has a gut buster week after week after week. And to keep coming back year on year on year. And we've said it that many times. There's plenty of horses that are around for 12, 18 months, but you know, you think back to, uh, stock stakes night, I think it was when, um, Amelia's dual beta and, uh, that was a few years ago now. So, uh, you know, like she has stood the test of time and just keeps on doing it. I mean, you know what, everything went right for a treasure, the moment's not going as good as what she was. She beat them fair and square, but you know what? That's nothing to do with Jenny because Pete, the knockers will say you beat nothing. And in theory, she can, you can only beat what's out there to be run against and her racing pattern makes it so much better because we've said this a hundred and one times back markers this day and age really, really struggled. They're always the unlucky ones they're not pretenders, but she just jumps, puts herself in the spot and to be nine years of age, to keep coming back amazing training performance, but you still need the horse to be able to do the job for you. And, um, she just must be a freak of an athlete and she's going to go down. It's still going to go down. I reckon nearly as the greatest win I've watched for a horse that I never trained when she won the Queen Elizabeth.
Speaker 11One thing I'll also say is just in this, um, in this era of social media, Hawksy to see Kieran share the information this week. I think it's a really good thing. and parading around after that work at Cranbourne. She looks like a five-year-old mare. Like, she just looks extraordinary for a nine-year-old.

It was my fault. Not many owners put their hand up, let me tell you, and go, I got it wrong. Owners normally after the race just go very quiet, just walk away and put their head down and say nothing. But Tony actually came out publicly and said, nothing to do with Kieran, it was me. So you know what? Good on him. Lives by the sword, died by the sword. So for a nine-year-old mare, we know she's not going to be a great brood mare because arguably the statistics. She wants to. No, but the statistics will tell you that these great, great race fillies don't go on to be great brood mares. So at the end of the day, when it's all said and done, you might as well keep racing them because the thing where you look at the horse, if you look at the pure horse, when they start to look a bit old and a bit shabby, that's when you know they're going over the top. But she looks fantastic and you know what? Her race performance is amazing, isn't it?
Speaker 2So where does she go now? I think that she usually has three weeks off and then runs, but there's no race really for her.

So, and there's a little video now going around the place with the horse watching the race and stuff. So, I'm sure that'll hit social media sooner rather than later. So, a guy like him is a great promoter of our industry. He loves his horse. He puts his money in. He's got plenty of other horses. He supports a lot of trainers. So, good on him. They're called plushies.
Speaker 2We've got to get one of you too, Wayne. What's a plushie? I don't know. It's like a teddy bear type of thing. What? Yeah. What are you talking about? That's what they're called, plushies. They'll be all black.
Speaker 12Seriously. Prior to Jenny, 14 wins, 12 and a half million, 59% placed strikes rate. Unbelievable. So, 60% of the time, she runs one, two, three. She's a phenomenal, phenomenal mare.
Speaker 2Other talking points out of that race, Mr. Brightside. Now, J.D. Hayes told me this morning, he's pulled up enormous. He'll push on. So, they'll probably go to a crystal mile with him now. He just can't do what he tried to do there yesterday. At this time, he's confused. He's confused about his career and follow a pride of Jenny type of tempo.
Speaker 11Yeah, look, I had a good chat with him this morning too. I rang him after the races because obviously it's a champion. I'm not involved in it, but you're always concerned about the really good horses, you know? So, you rang him anyway. I just rang him to say, is the horse all right? You're right. He said, what are you ringing me for? You've just won a group one yourself. And I said, no, no. Anyway, so he did say that the horse has pulled up great. I think one thing we need to be focused on is he was out of racing for a long time. He didn't race for eight or nine months, I suppose. Something like that. So, to come back, he's probably still a little ring rusty. And I think they've probably got to ride him different. Ring rusty. Well, they've got to ride him different. Colder. It's pride of Jenny. They just can't do that anymore. So, I'm sure they'll freshen him up and he'll be fine. And as long as he's, they told me the scans were perfect. He's in great nick. He's pulled up great. He ate up terrific. So, there's no reason why they won't keep going on.
Speaker 12But to put in perspective, barrier six of six stuffed him up. I mean, he needed to draw barrier two and jump and just go forward and be running. Running second. He did a fair bit of work from barrier six. Six of six is shocker. That's like drawing 15 of 15. So, he never had the right start in the race. First up was exactly the same. He did way too much work and then he punctured in the end. So, look, you're definitely at the crossroads. But he hasn't had a race yet where he's jumped and travelled and had a good run in transit. Because he was doing way too much work early and he did the same thing first up. And that's no pot on Craig, for the record. That's no pot on Craig. But bad barriers stuff you up.
Speaker 2And I'll guarantee this. That horse means so much to Lindsay Park, especially those boys. That was the horse that really got them going. If he shows any sign that they think that he's had enough, they'll retire him. Of course they will. But if they think if he's still enjoying and loving what he does, they'll continue on with him. As they should.

I think having a really good chat with Ethan Brown after the race, if you have a look at his campaign last time in, he got a couple of really bad squeezes in those Sydney races. He missed the start and got smashed and fell out the back on a couple of occasions, I think. So, you know, Brown. He was pretty adamant that, and again, Hawksy, we talk about this all the time, don't ride horses out of their comfort zone, depending on how tracks are playing, right? So I will say that the conversations that we were having early doors was, you know, he's got Blinker's first time, Wayne, again, for those people that don't know, generally Blinker's first time can cause horses to miss a start a little bit. Um, history would say that. Um, so we're pretty mindful, you know, do we go forward? Do we push up? Everyone was saying that Baywalk was going to go to the lead and control. There's not going to be that much pace in the race. So we're at the stage thinking, do we go forward? Kieran just said very, very clearly, we're not riding the horse out of his pattern. We know how good the horse is going. John, I'm so confident in this horse. Ethan knows the horse so well. Well, sure enough, he fell out. He missed the start half a length. He was back last. Uh, extraordinary ride, extraordinary ride from Ethan, never panicked at all sat and rode his horse the way that he knows the horse can finish. Didn't go inside horses, didn't get smashed. Come around the outside and just went bush. So I take my hat off to Kieran. I take my hat off to Ethan and all of the team actually at, um, at Kieran Mars. They never, ever lost any faith in the horse and, um, you know, in the ownership group, but we love the horse, no matter what, like we paid a couple of hundred grand or a few hundred grand for him. And Aussie obviously found him and we get to the stage where I think he's won $10 million down. And for group ones. So, you know, we're, we're the luckiest group of owners going around, right?
Speaker 2It's incredible. You make that good point about Ethan Brown. I remember David Hayes telling me he's pet eight and he's number one instruction Wayne to riders. If you miss the kick, don't hustle them up and get them outside their comfort side and get them pulling, um, with the rail out that far after he missed the kick, he would like you, Ethan, he, he didn't even think about doing that. He just let that horse go through his gears and then, um, made sure that he gave him every opportunity to show his best.
Speaker 12That's a difference between the jockey that knows the horse because, and someone else that maybe hasn't ridden him before, because he knows what's underneath him because feeling something thinking, gee, this thing might explode, but actually knowing where you're at, Ethan knows what this horse can do. And I don't think there'd be a race Ethan Brown's ridden this horse where he's panicked. I mean, he's been ice cold every time he rides this horse and he puts a lot of trust in him, but he knows what he can do. And Jimmy is a get back, run on horse. The biggest question mark was going to be the rail out 13, because it's not ideal for a, a group one day to be the rail out 13, but we know why it was because the race should have been run at Moonee Valley on, uh, on Friday night. And Jimmy is a great, great Caulfield horse and his first up run 1400, well, which is the wrong. Well, it was just the wrong thing to do because you know that, and I said that on this program before he raced in one, I didn't like him because I thought 1400 first up was going to be too hard. This horse is an Oakley plate winner first up, not many horses could win an Oakley plate and sprint like he did first up the run on yesterday, Sunday was exactly like the Oakley plate sat back, got to the outside and went, uh, and went woosh. So, and I, I said the other day that, you know, with the blinkers on, they do one of two things. Blinkers will either make no difference whatsoever, or they jump out the ground and look, Jimmy does that anyway, to be fair. So I don't know whether the blinkers actually did help him or not. I would think that you would be putting blinkers on to try and to get him to jump and be closer and cleaner. But it worked out. It worked out perfectly. And you know, where,
Speaker 11where, where would you go with him?
Speaker 12Hawks? He knew I would you to, well, I'm, I'm what, what I've seen. I wouldn't run him again until the, uh, to the last day because why wouldn't you go to an Everest with him? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Why? Why take, why take on the other horse? Now normally I would say Briasa, no, not Briasa, why would you take, why would you take on one horse? I reckon till the, uh, to the last day, if he was mine, I'd just freshen him and run him in the, uh, run him up the straight because he's a sprinter. That's what he is. Now, this is interesting because there's been a few people before he's a thousand meter run there back at the start of the year because there's a lot of different data metrics that you can use. You can use now to give you a guide on what's best for your athlete, your equine athlete. And stride frequency is one of those. Kevin Blake's big on that. Obviously, and James J. Braddock and one of the best racing experts up in Europe. And Will Alford, a good young kid that does a lot of work for Betsy.com.au. And even Mark Hunter picked this up as well, that the stride frequency of Baywack is of a horse that is a middle distance star. He's not a sprinter. I think that was Frank once again there. Yesterday. Has he run over a mile? No, but I think we'd love to see him in a champion's mile, wouldn't you?
Speaker 12Well, you know, he's definitely not a 1200 meter horse because his 1400 meter record says that. It says that he's a great, great horse, but it's a completely different tempo, 14. 14's normally jump, trot, walk, and canter and sprint for home, whereas a 1200, they're humming and they're right up your backside going along pretty keen. But the other problem is, and I think we said this two or three weeks ago with these horses, where do you run them? The race you want is not always there in three weeks time. So sometimes you have to run these horses in races that really aren't suited to where you run. But from my point of view, as far as training stallions, I'd be running them way less than what they do run them way more. You'd be better off to run them less than more because all you're doing is running value
Speaker 11off them. He is an elite 1400 meter, wait for age sprinter. He manages to have enough pace to go to the front and control different tempos. That was always going to be the question on the weekend about the tempo over the 1200. He can then sit up and just unleash extraordinary sectional. So if he was my horse, he wouldn't be running again until the 1400. The last, the C4, he'll blow them away and then I'd send him to start. He's a beautiful looking horse. He's a beautiful horse. And he'll, and he'll, if he puts his stamp on the progeny, she'd be buying his horses.

Speaker 11Well, I've got to tell you, I think they're in good hands with him. I know there's plenty of challenges going on. He's a visionary, that bloke. Really good fella. He's passionate about that racing club. And yesterday, you know, a really humble guy that had great connection with the people we were with. Tanya Fullerton came in and I conveniently thanked the Melbourne Racing Club and told them how great it was. Forgetting it was a Moonee Valley race meeting. So sorry, Adam, about that. Oh, did you? Yeah. But anyway, and I said to him after, sorry about that. He said, mate, it's all about racing and enjoying it. So he's a really good guy. So they're in good shape, I reckon. Baywack will go to a Golden Rose course.

You don't worry about the prize money because Anandakrishnan owned 25% of All Too Hard and he retired at three years of age and he said he'd win the next four Cox plates. Understand this. In the breeding barn in six months' time, he'll recoup four Cox plates over about a 10-week period.

The other big race across the weekend was the Golden Rose at Group 1 level and this is what happened there on Saturday afternoon. It had a massive build-up. There were so many well-priced. I saw big-priced colts going around here. It's such an important day for these owners because the Golden Rose has become a stowing-making race. It's the biggest three-year-old event even though it's only worth $1 million for the Sydney Spring and this is what unfolded there on Saturday at Rose Hill.
Speaker 7Clears and Goddard gets going. Warwaven makes the move now at the 200 and spread it quickly. And Warwaven opens up by two lengths and under focus. Then came St. Goddard and a gap back to the rest. But Warwaven, a brilliant winner in the Golden Rose. St. Goddard tried hard.
Speaker 2So, yeah, he was too strong. Warwaven. It was one of Bjorn Baker's biggest days at the office because, as he pointed out when I had a chat to him, and you would know this better than anyone, Wayne, when you're a trainer like Bjorn, he's had success, especially over the last three years, where he's really established himself as one of the biggest trainers in the country. But when you can prove, again, after what he did with Osborne, most is winning in Cornwall, when you can prove to everybody out there that you're a stallion-making trainer, it does help kick your career off in a different way. Because all of a sudden the farms decide, well, we might give Baker a horse now because he can make these stallions.
Speaker 12Yep. No, that's a fair call. And this horse hasn't had it all perfect either because he was Magic Million's favourite, wasn't he?
Speaker 2What actually happened to him on race morning? He didn't trot up well. And as Bjorn Baker said, it was the toughest day in his career.
Speaker 12So you're Magic Million's favourite. You don't trot up well Magic Million's morning. You've been there all week in the hoo-ha and then you get withdrawn. So no wonder those owners went absolutely bananas because he can't do any more than he did. And I mean, he didn't just win by length. He won by what was a margin of three or four lengths he won by. So he donkey licked him. Interesting about St. Goddard, I saw J-Mac's comments saying that when Zach Lloyd pushed him out, his quote was, I think, I'd knock the stuffing out of my horse. So, and that, and that can certainly happen. Did you see that?
Speaker 2What'd you make of that?
Speaker 12Well, jockeys playing jockeys. No, I don't know about that. I reckon that maybe with the overhead shot that Zach Lloyd clipped heels on Guesthouse because he speared out really quickly. Because if he was turning his horse sideways, that would nearly be foul riding to actually do that. And the way that he sort of speared out, I reckon he might've nearly even clipped heels and whacked into J-Mac. But, you know, the greatest horse I've ever put a bride on. Was octagonal. And Darren Beedman said he was not in the dogfight. He was from a 300 to go, rip down the outside and have a crack. But he was definitely not a horse that was in the hustle and bustle and the argy-bargy. And a lot of horses don't. To put it in perspective, you just give Usain Bolt a little, a little, a little Dusty Martin, you know, don't argue and see how good he goes at the end of a hundred metres.
Speaker 2Would have been interesting, Mr. Magney, watching it from the Caribbean, because obviously they're two Coolmore horses and they're, having a bumping duel.

When that runner shifted in, when question regarding the Colts performance, Zach Lloyd stated that his racing manners, particularly through the middle stages, had a significant impact on the horse's finding effort and St. Gothard on. Jumping shifted out and bumped trombone after passing the 800 was hampered when bumped heavily in force wider by guest house. When that runner shifted out abruptly after becoming very awkwardly placed on the hills of Warwoven, stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of guest house were the cause of the incident. St. Gothard then resumed its position one off behind Tennerbohm, approaching the 600 when it made contact with guest house when obtaining that, that position after passing the 300 was inconvenienced by Tennerbohm. And call me coach, there's that Sam and Anthony Friedman train galloper that was backed off the map to win at a provincial track in Hawkesbury and then won nicely Cranbourne Friday night. He's into $13 now.

So what I'm saying is the foundation that Peter leaves around promotion, prize money, activity, bringing people back to the races, speaking out about how great New South Wales racing is, is incredible. So the platform is lifted. Let's make sure whoever works off that, they don't throw it all out and say, we've got to start again.
Speaker 2You've been in business and obviously been very successful at it, Johnny. So how do they go about getting a new CEO? Graeme Hinton, who's the interim CEO, I reckon be assured, there's some say that they'll obviously have to open up to everybody. And there's been a few knockers in the industry of Peter Volandis and the way that he's been. No, there's not a few. There's been stacks. Be blunt about it. There's a lot of people that boohooed him. A hundred percent. So where do you think the, how do you think the next chapter in racing New South Wales, what would your recommendation be for a big investor in the game that's had success at business level?
Speaker 11Look, I think, I think the challenge with Peter is that he, he did three or four jobs, right? So, well, and very well.
Speaker 12NRL's flying too, just for the record. He's going gangbusters.
Speaker 11I'm even talking about within the racing industry, right? So you're not going to be able to replace a single person into Peter Volandis role. So you're going to need a really good conductor in there, a well versed strategic person, and then have a really good proactive racing person, a really good proactive events person. Because the thing that a lot of people miss is that Peter's connection with sponsors.
Speaker 2Government. Government, yeah.
Speaker 11These type of things enable people to want to put money into racing because of the benefits that he provided on behalf of the platform. So the challenge is let's not go back to a conservative approach. I think they're going to need two or three people to replace him. In my opinion, you're going to need a really good conductor. As I said, a well-respected person. Would you like to see him on the board? I think he'd be fantastic. But I think the challenge that you're going to have is though he's a passionate racing guy, moving into the NRL into their next stage and what they're trying to do and set those things up. I think that's probably a bigger job. And if he could continue to do both, he would have. But I think. Is it enough enough though to go on the board? Oh, and that's probably, you know, and he probably sits back and says, I've done my time. I've done everything I can do. Let me go and focus on the NRL and continue that journey.
Speaker 12We're better for having him than not having him. Oh, 100%. As much as someone will be there listening right now going, boo, hurt with him. You know what? We're a better industry for having him. And yes, he's been a pain in the ass to a lot, a lot of people. And he's ruled with an iron fist and everything. But you know what? He's led. He's been a strong leader. 100% he did. And we need that. We need that in this industry because there's plenty of people that like to lead. But when the going gets tough, they quite often get going.

And they are down-to-earth, true racing fans that love their old boy, Rough Fire. He took them on one hell of a ride. What was his record? What was his record? The ups and downs. The ups and downs of owning a horse like Rough Fire. They thought they nearly lost him. He was nearly retired after he won a group after just, I think it was the Golden Rose where he broke down badly. And then he came back and won a Group 1 in that Doobin' 10,000. He's record 40. You would have got out and celebrated him that night, did you? Yeah, 100%. You can do that. You can jump on a coattail. 100%. 47 starts, 12 wins, 10 minor placings, and $5.8 million in prize money.
Speaker 12It's a great effort for a Queensland horse. And that's not bagging them. They don't have the prize money that we do. We're down south. So they've had to travel with him a lot. And I have seen him a bit at Flemington the last couple of weeks. And there's a horse that doesn't look old. He's obviously racing like that because I walked through the tunnel with him, I reckon it was Friday morning or Thursday morning last week. And I actually looked at the old bugger and thought, geez, you are looking good. He looked great. He really, really did. But good on him for calling it. They've had a hell of a ride with him. And what a great call by David Fowler. And you're listening to some of those who have beaten Brigade, the Jimmy Stars and so forth in that race. Yeah, Rough Fire beat Jimmy Star.

Speaker 12Fillies don't really matter as much from that point of view because they're chasing black type. Whereas when you've got the colt that's done the job, that's where you need to protect him because the argument is every time you run them, you're running value off them if they don't run well.
Speaker 2What about Pikey on the weekend? Five winners in Perth. Sensational. Can I get a thousand guineas prediction, please, gents? I'm coming over for the Caulfield Cup and need a few tips. There was a Steward's Report at Mowi there during the last week on Tuesday. And it reads, Stewards have concluded their inquiry into the documents tendered by Mr. Josh Cadillac-Cavanagh, the Head of Data and Performance for Kiramar Racing, to Mr. David Hagen, the Head of Handicapping, Racing Victoria on the 8th of September. The documents were in relation to nominations which were meant to be lodged for the Geelong Racing Club meeting on the 11th of September and the Donald and District Racing Club's meeting on Saturday the 12th. So Stewards subsequently refused the nominations for those two meetings. Evidence was taken from licensed trainer Kira Maher, Sam Cavanagh, the CEO of Kiramar Racing, Josh Cadillac-Cavanagh, the Head of Data and Performance for Kiramar Racing, and Riley Morgan, the Racing Manager for Kiramar Racing. Mr. Cadillac-Cavanagh pleaded guilty to a charge under AR229 in that on Tuesday the 8th of September he provided Mr. David Hagen documents, namely three tables that showed confirmation of the lodgment of the nominations, which was in fact a false document created by Mr. Cadillac-Cavanagh. After the hearing, he was fined $10,000. So there you go. They made a mistake. It was an error in judgment, obviously, and they were fined for $10,000 for that.
Speaker 12So what, they forget to put the noms in there and told David Hagen, the handicapper, that we put them in and it was their mistake?
Speaker 2Correct, yeah. Right. Because they got fined $10,000. Your thoughts on all that, Wayne?
Speaker 12Well, you know what? I mean, there's one thing about it. I mean, you can't lie to the stewards. I mean, if you're in trouble, walk in there, put your hand up and go, I staffed it from that point of view. Obviously, old mate must have panicked and thought Kieran's going to kick his behind for not putting noms in, which is, you know, as it happened before, it's happened before and it'll happen again. You think about running a multi-state national company.
Speaker 2I don't think they're worried about Kieran. They're worried about Johnny because he had a few horses going around in Geelong.
Speaker 12Well, you know what? You know what? Mistakes happen. It's not a good look. But one thing, most owners are pretty good. They're pretty resilient and most owners are pretty forgiving when it's said and done. I don't reckon most owners would be that forgiving in their own business. But as far as people make mistakes and you just put your hand up, one thing that I do know with every stewards room I've ever walked into, if you walk in there, put your hand up and go, I'm done, I'm guilty, they're always way more lenient on you than, you know, if you walk in. And telling lies, you've got to have, you know, you can't be doing that. But the thing that people said to me during the week about this was, why was it in the Mowie Stewards Report on Tuesday buried? Because that's when they heard the hearing, obviously. Yes, but is that where it should be? And this happened last year with a trainer and people were whinging. And I actually asked Jamie Steer, Head of Racing Victoria Integrity, about this. And he said, well, it comes out on the day that we do things with, but is that where it should be? Should this come out in a, in a different press release? Because to be fair, how many people would have read the Mowie Stewards Report? The only way this would get legs is by people going, did you read it? Did you read it? And everyone jumps on. Well, everyone read it
Speaker 2because I got it sent to me about 35 times. Yeah, but no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 12But it would have started by a couple of people reading the Stewards Report and then saying, hang on a minute, look what happened on Tuesday.
Speaker 11Yeah, they've got an incredible support team at Kieran's Racing Company. It's extraordinary, Matt. And look, weighing it up, he's been fired 10,000 bucks. He won't do it again. No, he made a mistake. And clearly, and clearly he did a pretty good job placing the horses and nominating them for Saturday because he, on Sunday, because he trained five minutes. Can you just imagine, can you just imagine, so the boys have missed the nominations.
Speaker 12Yeah. And that'd be a heap of runners too. That wouldn't be one or two. That'd probably be five or six or eight.
Speaker 2And a lot of big time owners paying up for these horses and they needed a run at Geelong at that time of the year. And they go, how can we get around this without telling Kieran?
Speaker 12Can I just say, I think.
Speaker 2I've done that a few times.
Speaker 12Can I just say for transparency, transparency, what Race Victoria stewards should be doing is if they want to put in the stewards report, put it in the Saturday stewards report. Okay. Not Saturday just gone because we raced in the bush, but it should have been the stewards report on Sunday, which is the big meeting. Cause it's normally never a Sunday. It's the only Sunday of the year. That's a group one. So it should be put in the stewards report every Saturday because a lot more people read the stewards report on a Saturday than what the hell they would on a Monday. Are you happy with the $10,000 fine? It's a big fine. It's a massive fine because I don't know. I don't know what old mate would have been, what he gets paid, but he's probably getting paid 80, a hundred grand a year. So $10,000 fines, a massive whack, but it's better than a disqualification. But when you're lying to the stewards, we need integrity. So fair call for the stewards to be hitting him with how they, how they hit him because you can't go in the stewards room and lie. And be assured we move on. Yeah, sure. Now let's make mistakes.

Speaker 15When he resumed first up over 1400 meter Jimmy Starr, the question marks were going off in my head as to why they were going first up into a 1400 meter race with a horse that settles off the speed. And it all came undone. It was three wide, no cover. By that got away. With murderous sectionals out in front. It was a brilliant ride from Nash from Willa. Don't think Nash is going to get it all his way here. Back to the 1200 meters. Jimmy Starr, perfect setup. Back to 12. Blinkers first time. Super jump out in between runs. Just gets a cuddle in from a middle gate, midfield with cover. Storm home down the outside. Run over the top of them and win your fourth group one. Race eight, number three, Jimmy Starr. The absolute best each way of the program. Yeah, baby. At Caulfield today. If this wins, we won't be losing.

Speaker 16Yeah, the internet wasn't much good there in the bowels of the MCG, surrounded by about 150 Brisbane fans at a mosh pit. But that was Chautauqua's third TJ stuff from Brizzy on the weekend, wasn't it? Yeah, it was unbelievable. I don't imagine the Freo fans have recovered yet. It's probably going to take the best part of the off season. But, you know, does it take one to win one?
Speaker 2Maybe. They should be proud. Absolutely. They tried their heart out and they were probably, as Chris Fagan pointed out, they were probably the best side. But they just couldn't get it done in the last five or so minutes. So, yeah, so there you go. Hopefully they can bounce back and win one for their supporters because there was a lot of people that were at that ground, a lot of Fremantle supporters that, like, I was seeing grown men cry next to me there on Saturday. Yeah, so. It can be more than just the game, this beautiful game that we all love, but that sport, the highs and the lows.
Speaker 16Yeah, it really is. And a lot of those Freo supporters didn't make it to Caulfield on Sunday. It's probably no surprise, G.
Speaker 2Terry Latham, where was he? Might have had a big. I can't remember. I can't talk in a way. It's sort of like, it got the better of me on the Sunday. But Anibalistic, it was a nice result for the Giddy Up followers. Last bound victory.
Speaker 16Yeah, it was. It's probably just got maybe half a length. further back, but that was more just the early racing tactics edge. Just, you know, Melody Fair got basically jammed into the 1-1 and Anna Ballistic was just a little bit further back than I thought she might have been. But first up winners, gee, especially mares, when they're posting a good figure first up, that's just a little nugget to just follow going forward. They're often really hard to beat second up as well. So I was more than happy with that result. But I think the performance of the day is obviously like clockwork. Willie Pike obviously had a fantastic day and he was just riding a little bit more aggressively than perhaps we're used to. He was just finding those positions, maybe one pair more forward than you might have expected. But I know Terry's had a lot of time for this mare and she's returned with a new PB. She's going to be on track. I don't know what they're doing with this horse going forward, Gareth, if they need to win maybe another feature or two, but she might very well be one of those horses that ends up in the nice features later this spring.
Speaker 2You're thinking we might be seeing another do-or-you'll-die, railway stakes favourite going around in there, R.J. Peters in the Cerise and White?
Speaker 16Potentially, yes. I think it might get down to that because that's obviously only what her. She's won four races now. She hasn't necessarily picked up any black type so far. But yeah, whether or not there's a few nervous moments for connections going in towards a feature, we'll wait and see. We've seen that a few times, haven't we?
Speaker 2Yes, horses that we need to be following. Is it like clockwork?
Speaker 16Like clockwork, obviously, is the main one. I'm going to give something again to Snow God. He couldn't win from where he was there on Saturday and he really. He couldn't win from where he was there on Saturday. So it does look like he is a very consistent horse. Perhaps he's a little bit inconsistent in how unlucky he's been throughout his career, but he does seem to have returned quite well and I will be following him if he gets a map next time out.

We had the Wheatwood before that, which is a little bit different. We had the listed race with Let's Face the Music getting the job done. We also had the Toowoomba Guineas with Ashkirk too strong for Matty Dunn and Daniel Moore. Chris Nelson joins me now. G'day, Chris. What did you make of Toowoomba on Saturday?
Speaker 17Good morning to you, Gareth. Good morning to everyone. Yeah, it was a great day. I think we mentioned on Saturday morning when you asked me what to look for at Toowoomba, I said make sure you stick with the locals. That's probably the best way to go. And they did train seven of the ten winners. Only one of the three majors, though, with Let's Face the Music winning the week. Wheatwood. But some good results. The Cup, of course, went to Cavalry Man. He's as tough as old boots. He sat out there three wide all the way. And the Guineas was good. This Ashkirk's a promising type as well for Matty Dunn. Doubles to Michael Nolan, Pat Webster, and three winners to Jace McMurray, including the Cup there on Cavalry Man. So a real day out for Jace McMurray. But a very successful day. Big crowd, big fields, and great racing.
Speaker 2Horses that we need to be following, mate?
Speaker 17I think out of the Guineas. We'll go late in the day here. We'll start with the Guineas. Obviously, the winners, but I did think High Profit was a bit stiff. Ashkirk and Apostle were coming down the outside. Poor old High Profit was looking for a run. Had to come across heels. Missed the boat completely. Was beaten 2.7. Probably wouldn't have beaten the other two, but would have finished closer. And we'll appreciate getting out over further. So certainly High Profit. Out of the Wheatwood, the obvious is Brave Monarch. First up, really good run with the 60 kilos. Gave the first two six kilos. Heads off now to the Silver Eagle, I believe. And we'll see where that leads. Brave Monarch after that. The other ones in the last race, a couple here. Sir Winnie. It was good first up, Sir Winnie. Good money around for this horse. Only beaten narrowly, but worthy enough. And lightly race shows plenty of promise. I think he'll be winning a race or two this prep. And off the press, who was the favourite? Look, missed the start, unfortunately. That was the end of his winning chances, but he did a good job to wind up being beaten less than a length on the line. If he stays in Brisbane off the press, I think he'll certainly get away with a race up this way.
Speaker 2Yeah. A word on Rothfire, mate. One of Queensland's favourites, officially retired today.
Speaker 17Well, I would have thought he'd been retired about 15 times over the last few years. And every time we think that, he bobs up and wins a major race. So finally today, he deserves a lifetime in the paddock. I hope he has a great retirement. He's been a real flag bearer for Queensland racing, that's for sure.

Speaker 18Well, I reckon race two. I think Lays for Nick Ryan should be very, very hard to beat. It's my best of the day. We have seen it crunched a little bit on race morning. We were getting $2.50 a little bit earlier. And I'm seeing we're into around $1.80 at the moment. But I really like this horse. First up, it was at Seymour and got back in an awkward position in what looks like it's going to be a really nice race there. Won by Nikitria. Now, it ran third on that occasion. The trump outs were really nice before that. It was good on debut last preparation at Sandown. I think it's going to take good upside from that, going from the 13 to the 14. 50 metres here. Draws evenly, actually really well after scratch. And he comes into barrier four. So, looks quite well placed. 14.50 race number two. So, Anglaise for Nick Ryan. A little bit short, as I said, at the moment. $1.80. But punters have found it, as they probably should have.
Speaker 2Our producer, Louis Clifton, loves that horse. After Nick Ryan came on the Beyond the Barriers program a few, about a month ago now, and he told Louis this is the real deal. So, he made it his boost horse the other day. Let us down. So, hopefully, surely we get the job done at Kilmore today.
Speaker 18Yeah, I don't think it was its fault the other day. It was a good race. There was a couple of nice horses in the race. It got caught in that awkward position. So, we forgive and we get our money back today if you're on there. But the other one is another forgive job, to be fair. The next best race, number five, Royal Rendezvous, for the Walkyard, Lockie Neindorf, in the saddle. This horse was first up last time out. Where was it first up? It was at sale in a benchmark 66. And it was sort of caught in an awkward position down on the fence when the leader kicked and got away from them. It was below its best there. It might have been in the worst part of the track as well. It was $4 on that occasion in what was probably a similar race to this, I think, maybe even a touch better. What I love is the stable weren't happy either. They went back to the jump outs, looked enormous at the jump outs. I think it's ready to race. Rock and roll is going to take good fitness from that. 1,100 metres up from the 1,000 last time out. Drawn to not get caught in that tough position this time in. And the form, sorry, from last preparation really stacks up around you. This horse started $1.50, the Crocodile at Sandown. That was well beaten on that occasion when leading. And it gives you an idea of where it sits. So, I think Royal Rendezvous, race number five, it was $4 yesterday. It looks like we're about $3.60 today. Would that be right, my man?
Speaker 2Yeah, around $3.70 at the moment.
Speaker 18I think that's still a backable price. It is a nice race. There's some nice horses in it. But I think Royal Rendezvous is the best of them. Would you like a quaddie, mate? Yes, please. Speaker 19Yeah, he was. He certainly brought his best to Hawke's Bay. Great ride. I know last season he had a little bit of trouble clearing the gates and he was getting back and storming home, producing big sectionals, but just couldn't win a race. But he got out the barriers. He settled in a great position, three back the fence, presented at the right time. It was an economical run. And he managed. He managed to get the job done. Tuxedo on the other hand, who finished into second, very narrowly, was the complete opposite. I think I put the Moz on Opie Bossom by saying from the wide barrier that he would be one off somewhere midfield. Unfortunately, he was posted three wide, couldn't get in, and he took off on the horse at the 700 and he sustained a long gallop. He just got pipped on the post by Waitak. So look, Tuxedo is definitely worth following going forward. But Waitak's made it back to back Howden Miles, and he's just one of the most versatile wait-for-age gallopers we've got in the country at the moment. Started his campaign, his career as a two-year-old, and he's raced every season since. He's now seven. He's won group ones from 1,200 meters to 2,040 meters. As a three-year-old, he was geared towards derbies. He's run in quokkas. He's been to Queensland. So look, he's been a very, very good horse for connections.
Speaker 2Hawaia took out the gold trail at Hastings, and this is a galloper that a lot of my listeners were texting me on Friday saying we should get on, and they were a lot more than that.
Speaker 19They're a lot more than that, right, Jane? She's a beautiful filly. On type. She's just gorgeous. She's got a lot of presence. She raced really well as a two-year-old, had some foreman behind Lara Antepova, but she's come back at three and she's unbeaten. We spoke about her when she won at listed level at Taupo first up, and then she's come out and won the gold trail stakes at group three level, and she's won it despite a few things not going her way either. She was a bit of a handful behind the barriers. It took them several minutes to get her into the gates. She's lucky she even made it into the field because I know that they had just about lost their patience with her behind the gates before she went in, and then unfortunately she didn't get the rub of the green in the running either. She was another one that sat wide with no cover, just in behind the speed, but she was too good in the finish. Look, outside of that, I think Hawaia is a really special filly going forward, but Dashing Dixie is one that's had a red light on her in her last race. She's been a sectional star the last two times she's gone to the races over 1,200 meters. I think as soon as she gets up to 1,400 meters, she's definitely a horse worth looking at.
Speaker 2How good is Old Fashioned who took out the group to Hawke's Bay Guineas there on Saturday, also at Hastings, of course?
Speaker 19I think he's very good. He's a lovely, lovely horse, again, really big, strong, solid boned galloper. He is still a little bit raw, he's got a bit to learn, but he was quite impressive in the way that he won at the weekend. From an inside gait, he was sort of buried away. Kelly Myers had to show a lot of patience, wait for the gaps for him to get out. When he got out, he just exploded. He's got a really incredible turn of foot, this horse, and I think the further he goes, the better he's going to get. He's now second favorite in behind state of play in the 2000 Guineas, and he's going to sort of hit on the Guineas path now towards ricketing, but he's a special horse. He's two from two. We saw him win in the wintertime. I'd give him a little bit of time with these races in mind, and to step out 1,400 meters fresh up at stakes level and to be as prominent as what he was, or to win as well as what he was, I think he's certainly a colt that's got a really bright future, and it was a good weekend for Poiseuille, taking out both the group one, Howard and Myall, with Wytac, and then with Old Fashioned in the Hawke's Bay Guineas, so Richel Studd had a great weekend with their resident stallion.

It was a big weekend for New Zealand racing, especially in the breeding industry sort of state. The Cambridge stallion wins his first group one with Warwoven, excellent in the run to the rose, or the golden rose, I should say. The Purrincano, the gift that keeps on giving is Jimmy Starr at the moment, and of course, pride of Jenny. What a horse. Oh, look, our breeders had a fabulous weekend, both in and out of the race.
