Speaker 1This episode is brought to you by Boar's Head. There's turkey, and then there's the fryer's deep-fried turkey breast, new from Boar's Head. Deliciously golden fried on the outside, perfectly seasoned all the way through, bursting with savory flavor, juicy, okay, I need to stop, my mouth is watering. This isn't just any turkey, it's a taste that'll take you back, a taste born from a backyard tradition. I'm talking fold-out chairs on the lawn, neighbors catching a whiff, and popping their heads over the fence, kids being told to stand back, that feeling of the first slice being carved. And now you don't need a backyard fryer, you can get that same golden juicy seasoned to perfection taste at the deli, with the fryer's deep-fried turkey breast. Discover the craftsmanship behind every bite at your local Boar's Head deli. Boar's Head, committed to craft since 1905.

Speaker 3Yes, good morning, this is Giddy Up with Gareth Hall on this Friday, it's the 2nd of October. It's a big hello to you listening on your local SCN track and RSN 927 dials, wherever you may be listening on the SCN. And RSN apps, of course, if you're listening to us a little later on on the podcast, a big hello to you. And a big hello to you if you're watching us on Racing.com. Big show coming your way. Moving day at Flemington, Mark Hunter will join me to preview the Turnbull Stakes meeting. Hopefully it goes ahead. There's been a lot of rain in Melbourne over the last 24 hours, so Mark Hunter will go through that card at Flemington. We'll also preview the Group 1 race meeting at Randwick tomorrow afternoon with the weekend preview team of Benny Caluzzi, Mickey Gaffney. Gannon and Dean Watling, along with the Bet365 Saktum Bridge. So we've got the Metrop, but the two Group 1s, the famous Epsom Handicap and also the Flight Stakes. We'll go around the country as we always do on a Friday, talking to all of our experts as well outside of Sydney and Melbourne to try and find you a few winners. Matty Smith will join us. Athol Wolfe, they decided to stay in Sydney with Matty Smith, star stayer. So he'll go around in the Metrop tomorrow afternoon in Sydney. So we'll catch up with Matty Smith. We'll get an all-important track update to kick off the Hunter's Edge with Liam O'Keefe and we'll get an update on how much rain they've actually had there at Flemington over the last 24 hours and how much rain is predicted in the next 24 hours. So Liam will kick off the show and we'll find you some winners today with Bag of Tips. There's already been a big change in Victoria. No racing at Cranbourne tonight. That meeting's been transferred to the Packadams Synthetic. Scratchings will be finalised at 8.30. So they've been given a chance. They've been given an extra, what, hour to work out if they want to go to the Synthetic track or not. And they didn't make that decision until around 7.30. So trainers are talking to the owners and they're trying to work out whether they need to run their horses on the Synthetic track or they wait for another day. So there's plenty to get through on this Friday morning as well. So looking forward to it. Hopefully we can help you find a few winners. 0499736736 to join our conversation on the Garrod's Horse and Hound text line. And giddy up. Always brought to you by Bet365. Let's get stuck into the Hunter's Edge. On Giddy Up, it's time for the Hunter's Edge with Mark Hunter. Good morning to you, Mark. Morning, Gareth. Morning, all. Bit happening. Been on the phones all morning trying to work out what's happening in this world.
Speaker 4As you said, it's not a normal day in racing. So why'd it take so long to switch that cramping? I don't know.
Speaker 3I tried to get on to poor Bloodworth, but.
Speaker 4Surely they would have known it was weird at Cranbourne before.
Speaker 3Yeah. Well, I think everyone was talking about it yesterday when we were talking to the different trainers and participants. I think they were giving their heads up. Because when I asked them the question, any winners at Cranbourne, they go, I don't think we'll be racing at Cranbourne tomorrow night. But at least they made the decision. They didn't want to lose that meeting. So they go to the synthetic track. And that's why they built the synthetic track. For moments like this. Yeah. Maybe it could have been a bit earlier, but it's. Yeah. They'll probably go to the synthetic track for the sale meeting as well, I would imagine. You would reckon that would be underwater down there. Yeah. Yes, it would. And we need an update. Like, you've got to feel for a few of these country clubs. Like, tomorrow, Gumbau, they can't take a trick.
Speaker 4Well, the last two updates on the racing.
Speaker 3And Matoa, they would have to be in.
Speaker 4Matoa updates on the 30th of September. That's the last track update there. And Gumbau was on the first. First of October. So you would imagine a fair bit's happened between now and then. It might be a good idea to update participants.
Speaker 3We'll chase that up with the Country Corner with Josh McGuinness. But Flemington, everyone's talking about how much rain Flemington's had, how much rain can it get so it can make sure that the meeting goes ahead tomorrow. So there's a lot of balls that need to be juggled at the moment regarding the weather.
Speaker 4I'll tell you one good thing here, Liam. Like, it would have been pouring yesterday. He put it out and updated. And at 4pm, to say it's gone to a heavy 9, they've already had 25 bills of rain. So I assume he had to get drenched to go and do that update. But it's good information for punters. At least you know how much has fallen. Rather than sitting in your shed and not giving them an update till 7.30 in the morning.
Speaker 3Do you know what? You said, like, let's get him on the TV today. Let's see him. And I said, well, I'll send out a message to our great mate, Liam O'Keefe, who is the Track Curator of the Year. He was awarded that honour about a month ago, Mark.
Speaker 4I like when you asked him to go on VMIX. He had no idea what you were talking about. And you can talk. Yes. Hello. Liam O'Keefe, come in, brother. You there? You there, Mick? You there? I can hear you.
Speaker 3Hello, Liam. Good morning. You're looking well, mate. Now, there's no rain falling, which is good news. But how much rain have you had?
Speaker 5Yeah, just a light, light sort of rain about at the moment. But we've had 51 mil overnight, and that's a total of 57 for the week. So plenty of rain. Rainfall, the track's obviously at saturation point now, but it actually walks okay, as good as what it could after two inches of rain. So, yeah, just see how the next couple of days play out.
Speaker 3So what are you expecting today?
Speaker 5So today I've just spoken to the Weather Bureau, and they've said 5 to 10 mil across today. Tomorrow's the interesting one. They've said possible 10 to 20 millimetres in the morning. Okay. And then during the afternoon, it can either go either way. It mightn't be too bad, but then there's a low off Geelong. If that moves a little bit, it could be a lot more rain. So still a lot of uncertainty about tomorrow's forecast, and it's probably going to come down to what happens then.
Speaker 3So tomorrow morning's the key?
Speaker 5Yeah, tomorrow's the key. Like, if we got 10 to 20 mil in the morning, and I asked you, to break it down into timings, and he said until 10, you know, and then if it eased off at 10, and if it didn't rain during the races, I'd be confident that we would be able to race. But if that 10 turns into 12, and the 12 turns into consistent showers, it would probably be an issue. So, yeah, it's going to have to wait and see.
Speaker 3It's a difficult one, I reckon. I would imagine Lee Jordan would be talking to Racing Victoria. Like, you need this meeting to go ahead. You need to have the Turnbull stakes, and there's so many different lead-up races. It's a big grand final. The final race is heading towards the business end of the spring, and they call it moving day for a reason. So, it'll be an interesting discussion tomorrow morning, I would imagine, Liam, if you do get that rain that is expected to arrive, say, around that 10 o'clock period, or before 10 o'clock, whether you take the punt and go ahead with that meeting Saturday afternoon, or you go to plan B.
Speaker 5Yeah, that's right. And I'm sure. I'll be talking to Racing Victoria at the moment to have back-up plans. So, you know, the club, it's a big day. You've got decisions there. But I'm sure, you know, all the trainers will definitely want to run their horses because it's an important run in their preparation, leading into feature meetings at Caulfield and back here. So, we'll want to make sure we update everyone as it progresses and hopefully we can get the lighter end of the rainfall.
Speaker 3Yeah, were you expecting this much rain yesterday?
Speaker 5Not this much yesterday. I was expecting probably 30 mil. after speaking with the Bureau a lot during the week. But, obviously, if you think back to about times at about 3 o'clock, it got really dark. They were quite stormy, heavy showers. That's where you get, like, 5 mil. every 10 minutes. So, that added up pretty quick. Continued to rain overnight. So, yeah, yeah, a lot of rainfall.
Speaker 3And you can help me out here, but the rain that happened yesterday, it was continuous in a way. And that's the worst possible rain, isn't it? Because it just hangs around where if you get heavy showers and it. Like, a little bit, what happened? But it's in Queensland. It gives the track more opportunity to drain.
Speaker 5Yeah, that's right. Like, you'd rather 50 mil in 2 hours than 6 hours of dry 20 mil across 8 hours, if that makes sense. Because that just gives you a chance to drain away. And it's the same with tomorrow.
Speaker 3Oh, we just lost him there. You put him on the V-Mix, look what happens. Yeah, yeah. So, basically, there's been a lot of rain. It's only 5 to 10 mils only, but the impact was dealt with yesterday. And then we're going to wait on that.
Speaker 4saturday yesterday look you got to about lunchtime it looked like a lot of it had gone under melbourne yeah yeah i thought it was okay but then uh kicked in
Speaker 3in the other yeah um so we're just you were just explaining that they probably got more rain than expected yesterday liam so it would be on a heavy track regardless come tomorrow and then the wind conditions are interesting as well we've got southerlies is that right yeah
Speaker 5southerlies uh south eastly probably wanted more of a southerly because they said if we get more of a sale we get less rain but see our easterlies which is far wind around that home turn but um yeah i'd better be more a test of horses hanging on the track than the wind i would have thought
Speaker 3yeah all right mate we wish you the best of luck i tell you what from participants ringing um poor old liam to say what's the track going to be like you'd probably be sick of it but um who knows what's going to happen we'll cross our fingers and toes that like tomorrow is the key when we wake up in the morning let's hope the bureau is wrong basically
Speaker 5yeah definitely hopefully we wake up and it's you know almost like this morning where it's over class but there's not heavy rain around just some light rain and we can we can kick on another
Speaker 3good day yeah because you had jump outs and everything today like none of the flemington trainers missed a beat really despite the rain
Speaker 5no we didn't and and yeah we had a backup plan switched them straight to the polly yeah um and and the jump we're getting in front of one this morning and um yeah we'll push on it tomorrow
Speaker 3good on you man any winners
Speaker 5for us i'll go the next episode in the dane hill yeah he
Speaker 3he loves a heavy track so regardless if they're pushed back to i don't know monday or something it'll be still be a rain effective track so you'll still be right yeah for sure good on your lamb thanks for that thank you there's liam o'keefe the track curator there at flemington this is the hunter's edge all thanks to kia mark's here of course for care win big with kia's premiership offers on the ev3 and ev5 visit your local dealer today um so what did you make of all that well it's a nightmare
Speaker 4poor old liam sounds like he needs a beer at eight o'clock in the morning yeah and you know if it like the talk is sounds like from liam the talk is to switch it back a day or two it just makes a massive difference what happens to your bets they get cancelled yeah because the heavy 10 as opposed to a soft seven for a lot of horses racing there at flemington is a completely different ball game so yeah let's wait and see there's lots happening and
Speaker 3like it's a situation where they they want to have this meeting on um saturday afternoon everybody wants to have the meeting on saturday afternoon turnover obviously there's a lot of hospitality booked with the vrc and they will give it every possible chance to do just that but then they're going to make the decision whenever that will be like is it worth having one or two races and then they're transferred and then we have to come back on on monday or sunday it's
Speaker 4a fantastic meeting they've got great fields the worry would be as well that it will just carve their track up there's a lot of horses carve their track up they've got the cox plate now in three weeks yeah so it's a uh you can see some anxious time for but
Speaker 3you've got to have this meeting as liam pointed out it's like moving day for all of the cup horses cox plate horses the derby and oaks horses the coolmore horses the empire rose horses so nobody
Speaker 4wants it monday or tuesday or sunday or whenever nobody wants it on a different day but no you don't have a lot of choice if it's going to keep pouring no
Speaker 3and this has happened it happens from time to time in this game yep but it's just unfortunate it happens on one of the most important race days of the year um so we'll try our best but we're still going to be able to find a few winners they will go ahead just we just don't know when but hopefully it's saturday afternoon hopefully let's get stuck into it mark um how do you think the track will play then obviously there's that win conditions there um that liam's just reported but i think he makes the best point there it'll be it'll be a situation whether they handle it or not basically
Speaker 4that's it it's going to be very got to be fit you wouldn't want to be going in if one jump out into these races you've got to be very fit handle the ground i wouldn't imagine bias would come into it too much it's more just handling the ground
Speaker 3the two-year-olds do battle in the marabinong trial stakes silent intent at three dollars pro verb at four dollars uh and car at 440 bella davina at 650 and then you go out to horses like muffle fushi at nine dollars here so how would you say it mella fushi yeah i think it's closer yeah good luck good luck trying to find the
Speaker 4winner here well how many horses would have gone through the sails and we come up with a field of six at the moment just shows you how hard the two-year-olds are to get to the barriers
Speaker 3people are changing their the way that they go about preparing their two-year-olds and they're not going to be able to win the race they're not going to be able to win it there's a lot of trainers that hold them back now streisand ran in this last year yeah there's been some stories where horses have been up and going nice and early and
Speaker 4getting here onto a heavy track is a nightmare and a complete unknown for these horses for the sake of a tip i'll go one to beat three number one anchor went around with its two stable mates silent intent and mela fushi in a jump out they just basically ran to the line together on the inner track at flemington then come down the straight if the times are right and no reason to think they're not it's gone along quicker than natural fling so we're going to have to see if we can keep up with that and we'll see if we can keep up with that and we're going to have to see if we can keep up with that and we'll see if we can keep up with that and we'll see if we can keep up with that i thought it was an impressive tomorrow then well it was impressive trial that natural fling's gone no good yes yes uh it's an impressive trial was strong to the line so i'll go with anchor to finish over the top number three proverb comes down from sydney they had the two similar trailers uh proverbs only had the one jump out fitness query but looked to go quite well so not a race you could bet in i'll go one to b3 one to beat three but you're just watching well yeah it's too many do you like betting in two-year-old races uh not particularly no no not not until you get an established form pattern and a few more uh constants race number
Speaker 3two is the tab one pool that'll be interesting tomorrow something a little bit different on tonight yeah well it starts today yeah but it's a soft launch today and then it's the big launch tomorrow he spoke very well girl he did didn't he um so it'll be interesting to see how it all looks like yep yep a national pool they've been trying to do this for years yes the day has arrived cabrioles at five dollars hanky alpha's the fourth emergency in the 1200 meter benchmark 78. it's at six dollars ashmarly at 650 the belmont gangster is at 750. when we had a chat to sam freeman yesterday it was in front of the stable mate and sam said no cabrioles a better chance and now cabrioles the firm favorite with bet 365 at five dollars charming nick at 750 queen christine at 12. king tut at 13. moby dick at 15. good push for ruska roman 15. ruda royale at 20 to one queen scene at 23 and then big prizes for the rest
Speaker 4look it's a hard race big field down the straight with the rail out on a bog track i'll go number 13 esmali who's had the one go on heavy ground was up in sydney at the back held up most of the straight got clear and burst through to win well so a heavy track looks to be right up its alley it's got a good draw it's drawn just outside of cabriolet and naval academy out wide so got speed to guide it along fitter for the first up run behind cabriolet gets back onto wet track and can turn the tables 14 ruska roma just completely unsuited first up the way the race was run nothing went right for it it was good through the line got a terrific wet track record it'll need luck as it always does with its style of racing but can win uh seven the belmont gangster came good last campaign good wet tracker drawn down low awkward barrier draw needs to be written quite over 1200 running on so we'll need luck 20 hanky alpha was a scratching at the barrier at mornington looks to be a really good wet tracker probably got a good barrier draw for this race and 11 cabriolet who will run well it's a good way tracker it's got to prove it can run 1200 meters that's the query with that horse so wide open race but i thought esmali was a good chance in race two would you be betting in this race well you're going to get a million scratching so you get you get scratchings and deductions i could back esmali for sure just waiting i wouldn't back it now because you get too many deductions
Speaker 3yeah ruska romeo could back after listening to graham beck and then
Speaker 4listening to you just always
Speaker 3needs luck everyone needs
Speaker 4luck don't they yeah it's true maybe dick look wet track he's pulled out some blinding runs on wet ground down the straight had no luck last time he's had a lot of racing he's up there with 59 i wouldn't fall over dead if he won but not for me hanky alpha would have won last week the last thing i'm a multi to run a place last week and i reckon it would have run a place the way the race was run yeah it's got terrific wet form in new
Speaker 3zealand it can win for sure yeah we're going to take a break this is giddy up and this is the hunter's edge we are previewing the turnbull stakes day all thanks to bet365 on the other side of it we'll take a look at a couple of three rod races that'll lead up races to the two of the classics um later on in at the spring carnival so don't go anywhere still plenty more to come on this friday morning have
Speaker 6you ever wondered how movements start i'm ashley c ford host of into the mix a ben and jerry's podcast about joy and justice this season we're talking to unexpected progressive heroes who found purpose in unexpected places people like marley diaz making sure every kid sees themselves in books kyle mesteth a native skateboarder building a movement for kids nationwide joy aladakun whose music moves from protests to daily commute find out how they started something bigger than themselves and listen wherever you get your podcasts
Speaker 2join the conversation text us on oh four double nine seven three six seven three six live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall welcome back to
Speaker 3giddy up all thanks to bet Bet365. Tomorrow afternoon with the National Tote coming into play, Mark. Yes. Bet365 will be paying an extra 10% on top of the National Tote dividend on all tote bets in every race at Flemington, Randwick, Eagle Farm, Murray Bridge and Kalgoorlie. That's win, place, quenellas, exactors, trifectas, first fours and most importantly for you, quatties. Eligible customers only. Terms and conditions apply. What are you really gambling with? You're complaining a lot today. Unfortunately, the scratchings are coming through thick and thin. What did you expect? I expected them to be there by 7.30, Gareth. Yes. Is that asking too much? They should have made the call at what time? 6.30? 10 o'clock last night, 9 o'clock last night. Just for the punters out there who enjoy the Friday fill-up, you've done the form for a heavy track probably at Cranbourne and now you're on a. On a synthetic track.
Speaker 4There was talk early afternoon it was going to Pakenham Synthetic.
Speaker 3Yeah. So how have you done your form? Have you thought about that?
Speaker 4Plan B? What's that bloke's name? Luke Littler? What's his name? I don't know. What's
Speaker 3his name? I don't know. Luke Littler,
Speaker 4that's it. I don't know
Speaker 3what his name is. Yeah. Nuke. Nuke Littler. No. I don't know. Anyway. Are we crazy to bet on Flemington before official scratchings? With a heavy track, there'll be plenty of withdrawals. On the last race on Wednesday, one provider had 30% deductions while another was 8%. It's a joke and requires an independent ruling 100%, Shoga. But I think there won't be as many scratchings at this Flemington meeting because it's such an important day for these trainers to prepare their horses for their grand finals. They really can't afford to miss a run, can they?
Speaker 4No, but you've got to be careful you don't gut them as well. Yeah. You give them a hard run on a wet track first up, that could completely finish them for the whole campaign. So you've got to be fit. You wouldn't be going there, you know, underdone.
Speaker 3No, but those horses, say, in the Bark Cummings, they'll probably need to start. Other horses, like in the, say, the Dane Hill, horses like Mbube and all that, like Lloyd Canterwell will walk the track. If he thinks it is bottomless, they won't risk a colt like that.
Speaker 4No, it's raced on a soft seven. Yeah. Mbube, but I heard that interview.
Speaker 3Yeah, what did you make of that interview then? I was like, because they did walk the track there on that Saturday when it won on Dubu, and it was a heavy track that day, wasn't it? Soft seven. Soft seven. But it was, we all thought it was going to be heavy that day, and then it improved.
Speaker 4It's got to run under its belt, so it's not in such a bad shape. It's more, if you're coming in first up, putting yourself straight, like, you know, Stretton Ruler, do they want to give it that real tough run on a wet track first up?
Speaker 3The Superimposed is another perfect example of this, Shager. So Shager's the person who's texting.
Speaker 4You know the worst deductions I saw? What? What's called Nicholas, when a maiden at Sunshine Coast. Yeah. Tony Golan. Yeah. And it used to be trying with Darren Weir. How far away? A long way away. Okay, yeah. It used to be trying with Darren Weir. It went to Tony Golan. They took out 96 cents in the dollar. 96? 96. So every horse in the race was paying a dollar. It paid over $2 when it jumped.
Speaker 3That's not allowed, is it?
Speaker 4Well, I backed it. I got 96 cent deductions. That's criminal. Oh, it wasn't fair.
Speaker 3No. LaPolla is the favourite 380. You said it didn't have a turn of foot. Did you watch it the other day? It was exceptional.
Speaker 4Oh, well, set the race up for it.
Speaker 3True. True rebel at $4. He's an example here. Danny O'Brien won't start him if it's a heavy track because he says he's a big type of three-year-old and he doesn't believe he'll get through the surface if it comes up a real heavy track, which it will. And there's other options for a horse like that next week. Vallis is at $6.50. Argo at $10. Miss White Titty's been backed off the map. 16 into 11. Signetti's at 13. ICU at 19. Skua, no respect there. $20 or $21 now with bet $3.65 mark.
Speaker 4I'm going to take true rebel. I certainly take on board what Danny said about not running on the track. A little bit of useless information. He won this race in 2007 with Villain, Danny O'Brien. A long time ago. True rebel's a good stayer. Ran third in that good form race at Bendio to Zambalis and Menace. Went to Geelong. Gave Menace a start. He'd had a soft run up on speed. Was never going to lose. Didn't win by a long way, but won quite comfortably. I think it looks ideally placed at $1,800. And I think it's the one to beat. 14, Miss White Titty. Both runs have been on heavy ground. Terrific at Sandown in the Vallis race. Went to Seymour first up. Gave Skua a big start who totally controlled the race. Got very close on the line. Look, it's fitter. They've put blinkers on. I hope they don't ride it a lot closer. Just let it find its feet and be strong. I'm going to put number five, Vallis, in. Not suited by the tempo last time. I think we'll relish the trip and chances to two and four. Leopolo, sorry. Had the race. Put on for it. Went in, yet he took a sit the other day. Had the race completely put on for it, but won well. And for Aragog, it was good first up. Hit a flat spot. Was really strong through the line. It's got an awkward gait. Just needs some luck early. So 10, 14, five.
Speaker 3Is the Derby winner here?
Speaker 4Well, possibly. A lot more water to go under the bridge. But true rebel is a horse that's progressing the right way.
Speaker 3Okay. But it sounds like he won't even start. It's going to be a heavy track.
Speaker 4Yeah, it's going to be a heavy track. So it may not get to the post. I want to try. on a soft seven yeah and bendigo was good on a soft six but obviously hasn't seen this week all right then um should we back miss ytd for the oaks then well she ran both her runs have been good she had no idea what she was doing at sandown on debut went for a spell come back and they rode her quietly like an oaks stayer first up and she ran on really well from the back i'm surprised the blinkers have gone on so early i thought they would let her find her feet run through the line again like an oaks filly so the blinkers have gone on hopefully she settles okay in them she's got real staying potential for sure icu maybe should have won last time ducked and dived and just got held up going through the field that was a weak race it's got some hope but this
Speaker 3is a harder race all right then what about skewer you haven't even put that horse in your top one
Speaker 4two three five skewers got the blinkers on in the right stable those two runs back from a spell they've run third and first they've both been okay without raving the third that wasn't a good field got a clear run run okay totally controlled the race leading last time miss what td was a better run now skewer with the blinkers on getting fitter can certainly improve i would say skewers best run has been on dry ground on debut against something's burning and co-op there in sydney so maybe skewer is a better horse on dry ground but maybe it will improve in blinkers and it will be fitter so if you're giving miss white td a chance you can't put them all in skewers got some
Speaker 3hope so you wouldn't talk me out of it if it's 21
Speaker 4well you've sent me four texts and ran me three times about it and i still haven't talked you out of it so i wouldn't waste my breath what what
Speaker 3about sydney do you reckon they'll
Speaker 4hand up um on saturday probably not no probably not it it um it went better in defeat than it did in victory sydney it should have it should have gone mighty close to winning there and just took itself out of the race and then got skewed sideways trying to get a run so i would think they would go forward this is a harder
Speaker 3race though yeah um so that's a look at the third the superimposed over the 1800 meters let's have a look at the manifold now for the phillies at flemington on a saturday afternoon over the 1600 meters there's only the one scratching at the moment it's the mooning coleman runner and um autumn lover who doesn't take her place there the market here with bet 365 um we've got race four prolifer gates at 440 saintly dancer at six dollars portanari at 650 that was the best for me i think it's going to be a good race for the jd ace yesterday stipulation 650 talaga bay at 11. oceans 407 at 13 beautiful you at 15 autumn and grinsing at 15 and then joely at 16. labarita at 17. what we learned over the last um 24 hours prolificate um i don't know if graham big believes that she'll love the heavy track but he thinks that she'll probably get through it but she won't be at her best saintly dancer won't be at her best if it's a heavy track um they're confident portanari can run a race and get 1600 meters if she's ridden quiet like she was the other day and stipulation they got time for for her as well so that's it and autumn in grinsing danny o'brien reckons she can bounce back she's had a couple
Speaker 4more scratchings gareth leopard shark and crown of fire just came out as well so i like profligate i think she's a good filly she's handled soft seven first up at sand and got through that ground quite okay unknown obviously in this wet but i think she's building beautifully to a win first up at sand and was good last time at caulfield she drew three she ended up back on the fence in a tricky spot it was a leader's race it was pretty much a leader's track by that stage of the day she ran on really well i think the barrier i think the track the barrier suits the horse and the jockey better she'll park two-thirds of the way back she'll get to the outside i think she'll build and i think she can win profligate number 14 jolly it's a value danger it was a good win on soft ground first up went to that race that we were talking about the profligate race last time out the back had no hope the way the race was run but was really good through the line i think getting back onto a wet track will suit jolly nine beautiful you down from sydney spear forward be hard to run down an 11 stipulation who he's going well he's going to go forward get a great run behind the speed one of the many other little chances but i like profligate here 3 14 9 and 11. you're not worried
Speaker 3about the heavy track i am
Speaker 4it's seen a soft seven and got through that well yeah so you can't condemn it but you've got to see a little bit of it i think it's going to be a great run behind the speed one of the many other little chances but i like profligate here three fourteen nine and eleven you're not worried about the heavy track i am it's seen a soft seven and got can't condemn it but you've got to see it handle it what horse do you want to be backing on a heavy track uh well Nikitri has trawled really well on heavy 10. Autumn in Grinzig looks like it's a wet tracker. Jolly was good on Deauville on a wet track, so they're probably the three you would put a big tick next to. Nothing to say that Profflergate won't handle it, though. You put a line through Saintly Dancer? It's got the wide gate. Not so much. I thought it went okay at Sandown. It was given no hope there on that soft track, so I wouldn't be condemning it on the wet. Just need some luck from that wide gate. LaBerita? LaBerita won a weak race last time. I think this is a harder race. It did go much better than it did. It went ordinary first up on the soft, went much better last time on a better track, so maybe the wet's a worry, and this is a harder race.
Speaker 3All right, then. That's a look at the two three-year-old racers over a trip there tomorrow at Flemington. We'll take a break here on the Hunter's Edge. On the other side of it, we'll preview the rows of Kingston Stakes for the mares.

The rows of Kingston Stakes over the 1,400 metres. Scratchings here on display. It was very good first up is out. And the 18 and 19 Butternut Princess and Beside the Ocean also come out here, Mark. You were telling me yesterday on the phone that it took you, you know, two hours to do this race.
Speaker 4Yep. And how did you go at the end of the day? I came out with the two favourites. Look, I'll tip number seven, Gold Coast Bell. I think a couple of things. Getting back onto wet ground's a big plus. She's had four goes on the wet for three wins in a debut placing. And getting Mark Zara back on. She just missed the start the other day in the Let's Alope. She was on the back foot from there. They went forward on gold medalist. Made her work harder. She was just left a sitting shot up the straight. So here, Zara's ridden there once at Caulfield. She went forward, controlled the race and she just bolted in. She won't lead, I don't think. She's got Roto Aritaki in one who'll push forward. So I think she'll go forward, settle in the first two, three, four. He'll just cruise along. She'll handle the ground and I think she'll bounce back to form. Number 14, Tennessee Bound will settle in a similar sort of spot. Gold Coast Bell beat Tennessee Bound a couple of go. Tennessee Bound has to prove it can run 1,400 metres, but I think it's the danger. They're the two that stand out. They'll get good runs. They'll handle the ground. I'll throw number 11, Shahisha, in having first start for Mick Kent. Got some good wet form, this horse. Had a few trials to get ready for it. Wouldn't be shocked to see it run a race. So 7, 14 and 11. 7, 14 and 11.
Speaker 3Gold Coast Bell to bounce back. She does control the speed. Roto Aritaki will lead.
Speaker 4Yeah. Astral Flame, if it runs, gets scratched a bit. If it runs, will go forward. Gold Coast Bell, Tennessee Bound and Betwitchery, if it runs as well. So look, a fair bit of speed could yet come out of the race, which we'll see the two favourites get beautiful runs.
Speaker 3Yeah, but Zahra should be able to like go to the tempo that he wants to really.
Speaker 4She doesn't have to lead. She's had wide in the guineas and won. She just missed the kick last time and that got her in a spot where she's not good enough to do that sort of work and kick. Yeah. If she just goes forward, gets into her rhythm, she'll be very hard to beat. Um, do you have Merigold a chance? Wet tracks are a worry. Merigold ran well first up. It's drawn wide. Who knows if that's a good spot or not a good spot, but a heavy track would be good. It'd be a worry for Merigold.
Speaker 3A bounding won't start if it's wet. No. Um, Silicap?
Speaker 4Wet tracker. Filed really well. Wet tracker. Look, the inside might be off. It would be my fourth pick. Could you back road to her attack? No, she went into that first up run off one jump out and went average. She's obviously had a setback since time between runs. I'd be surprised if she could win.
Speaker 3It might be like, I reckon you're right here. There might be a few scratches tomorrow. Yeah, it could be a few come out on the wet here. Yeah. Let's move on to race number six and this is the Dane Hill Stakes. This is a beauty for the three-year-olds. Um, there is the Turnbull Stakes, but I reckon this is nearly the most anticipated race of the day, the Dane Hill. Just having a look at the market here with Bet365. We've got Natural Fling. She's the favorite at 230. The next episode at 340, the wetter the better for him. They say overexcited $6 and Boobay at 11, Big Sky 13, Pocketful of Cash at $23, Bugsy at 26, Stretton Ruler at 34, Doubt Time at 50. To one, Sambali is at 70 to one and Ali Barber is an $81 chance here.
Speaker 4I'm going with 11 and three is the main hopes. I'll tip number 11, overexcited. I think if it had drawn a little bit wider, it would be an absolute each way special this filly. She was terrific on debut on the wet track, sailing down the outside to beat Ice Lady, which is no mean feat, and she'd done that easily. Went to Flemington in a good race, just left a sitting shot for Sertano Glo, who's a good horse and got run down, seeing good form come out of the race. Scintillation, Calamari Ring have both run well. A wet track's ideal. She's got race fitness on her side. She'll just have to get across to a spot. You would think Natural Fling is your leader. So I'd say Ethan will be looking to get in the line of Natural Fling, which is not easy. Got Sambali's outside, overexcited, similar speed early. So find the right spot, save for one run. I think overexcited will burst through and run fantastic three. The next episode undefeated at a thousand meters in three goes. Beaten twice at 1100, but excuses both times. The next episode flogged Natural Fling up in Queensland. So I've got it down as the best horse in the race. Had four trials coming in, just first up on the ground at 1100 might be the telling factor and 10 Natural Fling. She ran well last time. It was in a race where nothing changed order. She's trialed well since, as you would expect. She's got a good barrier draw. D-Lane will be able to go straight to wherever he wants, control the race and she'll take running down. So I like 11 each way. We'll just need an, an ounce of luck early to find the right spot, 11, three and 10.
Speaker 3Talk us through how you're assessing the next episode in a little bit more detail. He obviously you've got him in for second. Like what have you made of him so far from those trials in Sydney to the, to the jump outs in Melbourne?
Speaker 4I don't know what happened in Sydney. It just didn't look, didn't look right. Didn't look the same horse. The trial behind Jimmy Starr was outstanding and trolled in the straight. Look, they're no real guide. You just want to see him. It's just basically straight track experience, Natural Fling and Pocket Full of Cash were running along. And the rest weren't taking much part in the trial. I think he looks like he's going really well. I think she, next episode looks like it's going really well. I think it showed up in Queensland that it's a better horse than Natural Fling and probably the best horse in this race, just coming in first up on this ground might be some query for me, but no shock if it's just too good.
Speaker 3He's well in the markets there for the Coolmore, of course, like a few of these horses on trial for the Coolmore. Um, is he a 1200 metre horse? Like he's out of Hummer Hummer. He's got some really good form, a thousand. He was second to the quick blue door. He's got a slot in the Everest now in the kindergarten. Your thoughts on that, Mark?
Speaker 4Well, the 1200 is the query. You watch the kindergarten. He lunged at the gates then come back and then the gates opened and he was on the back foot and he missed it sort of three lengths. So you couldn't pot the horse at 1200. It's still got to prove that it can run it. It's been absolutely dynamic at a thousand metres. She's got to prove it can run 1200.
Speaker 3Um, you tell Mark everything, Mark Zahra, was it an easy decision for him to jump off Mbube to ride the next episode?
Speaker 4Uh, I think he thought Mbube would win last start and when Paradoxium was too good for it, I, I thought, I think he thinks that Mbube probably can't win the Coolmore on that run would need to improve. So it may be a few, Mbube is a really good horse, but maybe the next episode is one that can measure up in the Coolmore.
Speaker 3Um, what do you make a pocket full of cash? Reece Goodwin, I hope he runs a great race for this rising star trainer. Um. He jumped out beautifully.
Speaker 4I thought. It did. The jump outs can be a little bit deceiving down the straight. Those that put himself there, like quite a few of these in this race trolled in that jump out, it put itself there and trolled really well. Now, look, it's a big class rise, terrific win on the debut track on, on the synthetic track on debut, good trials coming to this and you've got your trial alongside natural fling, which would on face value say you're competitive, but there's going to be a lot more pressure come race day, you've got big sky pocket full of cash, natural fling running to get a much quicker pace for the first, you know, 600 meters of the race and they did in the trial. So we've just got to see that pocket full of cash is good enough to take in that speed and pressure and then kick again against the likes of the next episode and overexcited who are coming out of the pack.
Speaker 3Are you a fan of big sky?
Speaker 4I don't think big, I didn't like the way big sky ran first up with its head up in the air. A horse that does that and wastes a bit of energy is going to struggle to run a strong 1100 meters in this grade. Ran well, ran third. They've got big sky. Big sky and Bugsy in the race. I know Bugsy's much bigger rides. I would nearly back Bugsy to beat big sky home, which is obviously against the stable's opinion of the horses. I think big sky needs to mend his manners if he's going to win a race like this.
Speaker 3Stretton Rule is first up. He was nearly favorite for a golden slipper after he won a silver slipper and Ali Barber run some big races as a two year old. He's also first up.
Speaker 4Stretton Rule is a very good horse. The blinkers went on for, I think, three starts. Yeah. A second to Paradoxium out of the pack. Racing well, fifth in the Golden Slipper is fantastic form. trials have been without blinkers the blinkers go back on for race day it's it's not hopeless it's massive odds for a horse who's shown its ability who knows if barrier one's a good draw but it's massive odds for a horse with the ability that's shown yeah all right then alibaba i thought i don't think alibaba is
Speaker 3quite good enough okay we're going to take a break here this is the hunter's edge on the other side of it we'll preview the bark cummings have you ever wondered

Speaker 3gareth hall this is giddy up all things to bet 3 6 5 and this is the hunter's edge on a friday morning mark hunter is with me um back in 2008 he bought a house on this day i did yeah um did you buy it because you wanted to no got the cash on the punt i needed somewhere to live the great dean lester he won that much money one day when quarterback won the new market he bought a house i don't know the answer i reckon i reckon he told us that story um of course mark's here for kia win big with keys premiership offers an ev3 and ev5 visit your local dealer today we're up to the bark cummings you win this race and you get that golden ticket into our great race the melbourne cup on the melbourne cup mark have you had a look at the internationals now still going through them gareth still got a you've had a you've had a look at a few have you put a line through any of
Speaker 4them uh i thought highway man was the best yeah it's not coming no no that's a set back it stopped me in my tracks yeah so nothing has jumped off the page are you trusting your instinct it's got to run the distance yeah it goes comes out of a good race last time ran okay uh it's got to run the distance but it's got a chance james j braddock i'm not sure it'll stay it'll stay 2400 meters it'll stay 2400 i'm not sure it'll stay 3200 yeah
Speaker 3well it's not going to the caulfield cup so it's not going to go no just going to the melbourne well
Speaker 4it's got to show that it can run two miles
Speaker 3yeah it'll be first up basically not first up but it's only australian run this spring will be in the in the melbourne cup last
Speaker 4couple have been a bit below par went okay last time from the back yeah
Speaker 3that was his first run gilded been off
Speaker 4the boil a little bit
Speaker 3yeah what about um um uh dark wine sea yeah it's i don't
Speaker 4know that it'll run two miles so the melbourne cup would be an issue but it looks a nice sort of horse for a caulfield cup they'll be going to beat
Speaker 3saran wine dark sea i should say yeah it's eleven dollars um and the jar at fifteen dollars is a big chance in a caulfield cup yeah they've got a bit saran yeah saran's as good as them it'll be hard to bet it's at five dollars saran for a caulfield cup saint george eight dollars now neil might be right you know he said he'll trifecta the caulfield cup and everyone laughed at it he's got enough horses yeah let's have a look at the bark cummings now as i said if you win this race you get that golden ticket into the great race the lexus melbourne cup um jennifer moose is now the favorite at six dollars wooden verney at 650 think giant at 650 um it won't start will it think john on a heavy track lit still is at 750 piggyback at 850 solcom at 11 mr monico at 12 beach pad at 15 barkley square your horse at 16 campeldino's had good backing into 16 now one smooth operator won't start will he at 19 valiant king at 20 to 1 new look at it's 126 into 41 new look highland bling at 40 to 1 suffolk star at 40 to 1 um and then you go to key to sushi at 61 here
Speaker 4with afflewolf out i don't have any idea what we'll win really i'll give you eight numbers gareth throw them in the quaddie and hope for the best number one wooden verney who i think is going well i think they've ridden the horse too close too aggressively it's got too keen it's last couple i think it's going well i think it's got a chance to barkley square gee he's going well the old boy he's been walking at the gates they've obviously rectified that and sued him forward last start set him an imposter and he's gone well he's gone well he's gone well three campeldino ran well first up with a soft run i just wasn't ready to be ridden charging forward like that over 2000 knocked up in the straight will be fitter can improve 10 piggyback i thought the first two runs back were really good last run not hopeless can win 11 let's deal poor thing had to chase chief little rock speed there last time and knocked up in the straights got a chance i think fifth 14 jenny vermoose is going well 17th thing giant yes you would rather a dry track wasn't hopeless on the wet two ago and number 20 suffix star i think it's got a chance this horse if it gets a run okay ran first up not unlike paul push to do that with a horse first up over that distance it was one pace that never never likely but kept going to the line i think fitter if it becomes a real grueling test of endurance suffix stars not hopeless so there are eight numbers do your best with them i don't have a firm opinion
Speaker 3so one two three ten 11 14 17 and 20. yep um new look he's 126 into 41 he's going no good but that heavy track might see him have a crack that's all
Speaker 4you're hanging your head on he's going disgracefully he's too he is like he's west for his best form he would be top picking you look on a wet track yeah his first two runs back from a spell he's been lucky to beat the ambulance so he would need to improve
Speaker 3yeah um it'd be interesting to see if the few of these horses start like um once we've got the last one in the race that's going to be the last one in the race that's going to be the last one in the race that's going to be the last one in the race that's going to be the last one in the race that's going to be the last one in the race that's going to be the last one in the race so there's a few in that boat so it'll be interesting to see what happens there um in the bark cummings um there's a few questions coming through from a melbourne cup perspective goody two shoes goody two shoes was
Speaker 4going well yeah looks like it was right on track for over here it's last run it ran 10th in the race that james j braddock was in for memory and 10th of 10 yeah didn't pass a horse but i wouldn't be i wouldn't be condemning it if it had sort of been powering through the line you'd be excited for it i wouldn't be condemning it on what we saw last year obviously it ran second so it wouldn't shock you but the last run is a slight concern all right
Speaker 3then we're going to take a break we're going to come back and we'll preview the turnbull stakes join the conversation
Speaker 2text us on 0499 736 736 live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall welcome
Speaker 3back to giddy up well thanks to bet free six five this is the hunter's edge thanks to kia turnbull stakes set weights and penalties group one level at flemington sir dillius is into 280 now he carries 59 eliana at four dollars with 57 on her back cosmic crusader 58 at seven dollars saint george is 55 at 12 she's a hustler at 55 kilos 13 half yours at 59 at 15 saran gets 56 and a half at 15 buckaroo gets 55 kilos at 15 light infantryman 58 at 34 middle earth 56 at 41 asterix at 70 to 1 i hope he wins at 70 to 1 and kings valley is 100 to 1
Speaker 4mark 527 gareth i think number five eliana is the one to beat she's a fantastic mare if it wasn't for autumn glow she would have a sensational record she ran in this race last year when supposedly she looked no good and she wasn't going at her best she had excuses she ran okay she went to the cox plate she got given an awful ride with it look with a bit better luck there she may have won the cox plate they went and got her right in the recent sydney carnival she's come back from a spell bowled around first up good second up she's got gate two she's got d lane there's no speed if they're not going to lead on light infantryman then sir dillius probably takes it up she'll just stalk along third or fourth on the fence she'll poke through she handles the wet and i think she can win eliana to sir dillius is an obvious danger won this race third up last year coming in second up off a typical mile run for it where it's just two one pace at the mile but it didn't do anything wrong it'll be fine it'll go forward control unbeaten on the heavy give a great kick and the one that'll be chasing them i think number seven's around i think it's a really good horse ethan brown's drawn barrier one eliana's drawn barrier two i would think he just follows d lane everywhere it's got race fitness on its side and i think they run will be coming out of the pack i think it's a fantastic place bit and got a great winning chance so it's going to be hard to make ground from the back with sir dillius controlling it building the tempo and lengthening so i'll go five two and seven so
Speaker 3dillius runs his best races when they're being strong run races so like how does williams ride this horse to make sure that he takes maybe the some of the advantage with their turn of foot away from his opposition the queen
Speaker 4elizabeth when he set up on the speed and beat lindemann nordham glow that's how he'll try and ride the horse he'll go forward but he was they
Speaker 3the speed was made for him that day
Speaker 4he'll make it himself he gets the horse forward he knows the horse inside out he'll rate it exactly how he wants to write it up the front if light infantryman it would run along at a good clip like it wants to do that would be perfect if it doesn't then willow will control the
Speaker 3race yeah um eliana so you've got no problems with her you think that she's going well i think she's going really well she
Speaker 4improved from her improvement from first up to second up a few of them were ridden to beat autumn glow last time and that told on the last sort of 150 meters and she had that run behind and ran well but i think she's going really well no love for cosmic crusader well cosmic crusader will run well it's got fitness on its side it's got to handle the heavy it's handled wet it's got to handle the heavy it's got to run 2000 now it should do both if you take lindemann out of that race last time that was an ordinary race the underwood lindemann whatever reason obviously the melbourne way just didn't turn up attrition was third king was not far behind buckaroo went average that was an ordinary race i think the best of sir delius and the best of eliana is better than what much better than what birdman can produce so i think this is a step up again for cosmic crusader now it won't run badly it has got fitness on its side it's got some winning chance but it's a
Speaker 3harder race surely um buckaroo is the best weighted horse in this
Speaker 4race you know the last
Speaker 3time buckaroo won uh it's been a while september 2024 yeah he was close to where like he was a he was a head away from a
Speaker 4cox
Speaker 3plate if buckaroo wasn't
Speaker 4trained by chris waller you'd say buckaroo might be in trouble i thought it was completely cast on the line at caulfield and had attrition and kingswood alongside it who aren't sir delius and eliana but it is trained by chris waller it did run second in the cox plate and it's getting fitter and it's got 55 kilos in this race so i'm certainly not penning buckaroo but i'm a little worried where it's at all right
Speaker 3then this is giddy up the hunter's edge we'll continue on our preview of the turnbull stakes straight after this here on this friday morning you join the
Speaker 2conversation text us on live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall welcome back to

Speaker 4gate 14 gate 14 59 kilos yeah uh came into the race third up last year with the queensland fitness under its belt ran well enough first up without getting too excited ran well i think the way the race will be run it's going to be giving a huge start to the likes of sir delius and aliana obviously got the wet track on its side it would be a big effort for it to run them down saran's got half
Speaker 3yours he's got a little bit of half yours in him this year hasn't he because if you're saying that he's going to run a big race tomorrow he might be three dollars for a
Speaker 4corfield cup half yours come out of the naturalism last year yeah probably more impressive got through on the rails but probably more impressive and ran a ripping race in the turnbull saran comes through the same race at corfield the naturalism won really well it's a good race it's a good race it's a good horse saran it's a good horse it'll run fantastic and no shock if it's an absolute standout favorite for the corfield cup after this race she's a hustler probably need another run ran well first up um she's a good mare she's a good mare she's probably not as good as sir delius or aliana she's a good mare she'll run
Speaker 3well i reckon this well what if for a melbourne cup perspective um middle earth how's he going i think he's doing
Speaker 4well he ran well the other day he ran really well he got home he was showing nothing last campaign they turned him around i think he's showing more this campaign i'd be watching for middle earth and i'd certainly be watching for our hope he wins i reckon i hope he wins is going nicely it wouldn't shock me if it's a corfield cup outsider have
Speaker 3you back to hope he wins for a corfield cup i have
Speaker 4i thought i thought it got through the line well last night have you back middle earth no i haven't would you suggest we should back middle earth you could do worse because i don't think the imports are anything spectacular middle earth ran third last year he could improve he's a good guy he's a good guy
Speaker 3he's right in the mix all right then um so do you think it'll be a local international melbourne cup victory um the
Speaker 4internationals are in the mix but there's no there's nothing that jumps off the page like the favorites of 4 000 meter horse defiantly yeah it's a 4 000 meters now it could win but how does it win if it's a 4 000 meter horse winds it up from 1200 out yeah but it's going to be able to do that yes it's got to lead it's it's like bavac in a thousand meter race or it's got to get the front control the tempo get into its rhythm now it's no good thing for that to happen in a melbourne cup if it can go forward and find the top then it will give you a good
Speaker 3that is interesting so you think like bavac 1200 meters doesn't get that rhythm like he does say over the 14 1600 and you say the melbourne cup winner or the melbourne cup favorite defiantly needs to get his own way in front in a way where he can build that tempo but that might not because there's a couple of horses that i think in this year's melbourne cup that need to be on pace he went over the
Speaker 4shorter course i think was france last time but field of five or something he got got his own way in front he can do his own thing and build his own rhythm in the field of 24 if he's not in front early he's in awful trouble if he
Speaker 3draws gate one he
Speaker 4might be in trouble well if they just chop him across yeah he's him and kisly are very similar horses and one's eight dollars and one's 34
Speaker 3dollars yeah well kisly i defeated him at ask it
Speaker 4did and it's too strong for him come up outside him and got him right on the line um there's a
Speaker 3they're going to arrive here as well so and you're already starting to get the rumors on the text message line the garrett's horse and hound text line about some horses that have handled the trip and some horses that haven't and i won't be speculating on this show mark but i'll be making a few phone calls and if they're going to tell me the truth anyway at this time of the campaign they know you'll tell nobody unlike you um all right then let's play the game which i thoroughly enjoy you're pretty good last week how did you like well you rated i rated your performance actually i took a punt
Speaker 4with the live another day
Speaker 3yeah and geez you copped some abuse on the social media platforms too i thought that was a little unfair like charmstone you were nearly right yeah it ran well yeah it ran really well napoleonic um beadman yeah live another day you should have like you've been against like you're saying chris waller's got no idea starting that horse back to 1200 meters you said he's a miler i can't believe you said yes you should have
Speaker 4been brave should be in a cocks plate told you that what bavac should be in a cocks play should have been trained for a cocks plate
Speaker 3it'd be hard to beat i reckon in a um in a golden eagle against she's alibi well it's probably a better race for him in a way anyway you're ready to go yep race number eight which is the turnbull stakes can they win yes or no number one half yours let's assuming the
Speaker 4field stays intact so i'll go no number
Speaker 3two sir delius yes three light infantry man no three light infantry man no three four cosmic crusader this will please people no five aliana yes six asterix no seven saran yes eight i hope he wins no nine middle earth no eleven buckaroo i'll go no 12 she's a hustler no 13 saint george i'll go no and 15 king's valley no half yours would you be going to a caulfield cup with him or cocks played yeah well why not both why wouldn't you do both with him he won the caulfield cup last year didn't he yeah is he a better chance to win the caulfield cup with 57 and a half then at wait for agent of cocks play uh i would say yes yeah race nine is the gil guy stakes over 1200 meters scratch the 13 plaintiff gator couldn't believe plaintiff's not in melbourne and said it goes to the premier there in sydney taking on some of the best sprinters in the land including tempted um bet 365 market for these sprinters down the straight there's there's a few unknowns here um and there's a couple of really interesting runners in this year's gil guy i can't wait for this race either it's going to be um a fascinating contest skybird at 380 surely this is her race on a heavy track hedge at 650 indy wine it's never been to flemington she's got the third favorite here in the gil guide smoochino austin galati yeah i think he rode that he rode the feature winner at kalgoorlie the hannes there yesterday um it's 750 arkansas kid nine more machine 10 in karuna at $23 lose some win more at 13 king seffer at 17 enriched at 19 de bergerac at 19 jimmy regard at 20 to 1 winners edge at $23 the goodwood winner desert lightnings at $26 and jenny the fox at $41 mark hunter i'm just glad
Speaker 4they scratch plaintiff on thursday so gator didn't get too upset gareth skybird skybirds are obvious now she really should be a good thing in a race like this this, she gets a wet track, she wants the lightning down the straight she just got beat by i think it was arkansas kid down the straight on soft ground she ran third in the tj smith on soft ground it's the perfect race now the query you've got is she went into sandown off just the one jump out she was ridden upside down to win the race she held her ground okay through the line you just wonder what that takes out of her yeah it was you gotta be very careful riding them upside down first up it can sort of take a lot out of them she's been back to the jump out since she won the jump out she had a benchmark 62 horse outsider called yumi wonder who looked to be traveling just as well so look if she turns up in her wet track flemington 1200 meter form skybird will win the race i think the danger and the terrific value chance is number 10 to bergerac who flies down the straight will handle the ground needed the run two starts ago given no hope last time i think it's got a great hope to bergerac here so 15 to be 10 for me there's lots of other horses you can make little cases for arkansas kids well drawn likes the wet not sure how it's going hedged he's had excuses last few runs on heavy but i don't think it's his best surface lose some windmores up to 59 kilos king zephyr he's failed down the straight on wet ground before he's run a good race at sandown on wet ground will he be okay in the ground and jenny the fox if ever had found its best form would be hard to beat as well but 15 to be 10 for
Speaker 3me now you know a lot more than me mark and um but i can't believe you're disrespecting smoochino you haven't even met you mentioned jenny the fox before him gareth yeah is
Speaker 4it going to handle the wet for starters well you
Speaker 3double you i i guess that's the question mark but he was he was excellent the other day in adelaide and he's
Speaker 4against sir now and yeah signature scent yeah he was pretty good in a quokka after he missed the kick he wasn't he just held his ground of the line and then he came in was a couple of so-so runs i know he finished he won but he i don't know if he's going to win but he's going to win i don't know if he's going to win i don't think smoochino has shown um i don't think it's shown enough ability to skybirds ran third in a tj yeah one of lightning that's better form than what's one of the
Speaker 3lighting what back in 2025 yeah it's going well
Speaker 4yeah so i think it's a harder race for smoochino and i'm not sure about on the heavy ground look it's drawn out wide which is a good spot for austin galati he'll be out of trouble um it ran well first up in adelaide it'll be fitter i just think it's a harder race you won't
Speaker 3have to worry about austin galati he's got a very unusual style yep yep he's been to broom this year he's been to kalgoorlie now he comes to flemington he's got to be
Speaker 4careful he doesn't get out in the aerated part some of those jockeys who haven't been here before yeah drawing out wide they head out to the aerated
Speaker 3part appreciate if you give him a call help him out um what about jimmy ricard
Speaker 4someone's asked 48 weeks off would be an absolutely sensational training effort it's it's trialing well uh it would be a sensational training effort if jimmy ricard can win this on heavy ground first
Speaker 3day interesting listening to richard joley on racing.com having a chat to terry mccullough there during the week that like this is not his race in a way with the way that the the this race is with 59 on his back he might be a horse like i think it's the mckeown down the straight they're on cox plate day down the straight he's a
Speaker 4ripper horse he just never runs badly he flies the straight he's handling wet he's got to give skybird four kilos he shouldn't be able to do
Speaker 3that on wet ground yeah race number 10 is of course the paris lane stakes over the 1400 meters at the moment there's only the one scratching and that's lord penman one of the fines for kirimar's stable is 10 commandments he's into 460 now the wetter the better and suto is at eight dollars just party at nine cafe millennium at tens to parties at 10 amenable at 11 and then big prices for the rest um just folk he's out to 19 but he should lap up
Speaker 4these conditions it's coming back from 17 to 14 just folk which will make it hard with a horse like home rule in the race he won't be able to control it so he's in trouble um i'll go 11 to beat 16 here 11 10 commandments just an outstanding heavy tracker outstanding wet tracker but an outstanding heavy tracker gets those conditions to suit the speed here is that home rule will lead fancify goes forward you would think 10 commandments gets the absolute runner race behind him revels through the ground it'll be hoping the races don't get delayed 16 just party the golden cup forms working out terrific probably should have won last time got into a really awkward spot had no room to weave through full of running up the line it's got a good heavy track run at hawksbury i think it's got a great hope 15 home rule it's had five goes at flemington you say it's records no good but they've all been down the straight so first time around a bend at flemington it'll run well and 17 roulette king it's a good horse it's had plenty of trials to get ready for this it's drawn a good gate to trail through you want to be in the line of the speed here home rule kick 10 commandments will give chase and you want to be in the line of the speed and that's where roulette king will be it's in the mix as well 11 16 15 and 17 holly man's i doubt it will run uh tough task first up from the barrier on heavy
Speaker 3ground i doubt n zero run won't run either no there's a few other sue sensation boy yeah there's a few that'll come out um
Speaker 4cafe millennium well cafe millennium right you say it doesn't handle the heavy you go back and look at its last heavy track i think it was its last heavy track run ran seventh in sydney had no luck up the straight and ran well so it's just got the 58 and a half it's getting fitter it's not without a hope for
Speaker 3sure best bets we'll start off with your best
Speaker 4oh it's got a tough day we'll go profligate race four profligate is the best race four number three
Speaker 3yep even though you're not confident she'll run on a heavy track she handles off seven so i'm not
Speaker 4saying she won't handle it dino's multi race two number 13 is marley into race four number three
Speaker 3profligate all right then then we move on to the danny dowray daily double first leg
Speaker 4two five and seven sidelius alyana zaran second leg 11 and 16 10 commandments and just party what about the quaddie first leg one two three ten eleven fourteen seventeen and twenty second leg two five and seven third leg 10 and 15 last leg 11 and 16 all right then so hopefully we're alive after the first leg the ramaraffi race three number 14 miss watiti race three number four they're backed it again this morning
Speaker 3it'll be skewer i told you that yeah you're probably right i have a bit but you don't pay no i'd probably you know what you're probably right but i would love nothing more in my life it's been a really good week the lions pride of jenny winning if i could beat you in a head-to-head it would make my day i don't pray to god i'll be watching closely don't worry um and your staking plan you get a hundred dollars it's a
Speaker 4tough day we're gonna go we're gonna go we're gonna go all up for a place for forty dollars race four number three profligate race six number eleven overexcited race ten number eleven ten commandments so forty dollars to place all of those three twenty dollars all up place four roughies hope for a big result here 314 miss watiti um eight seven zaran nine ten to bergerac 10 16 just party so 314 8 7 9 10 and 10 16 and we're having four ten dollar win bets on roughies race three number fourteen miss watiti race five number eleven shahisha race eight number seven zaran race nine number ten the bergerac so tough day one of them lob will show a profit it's a very tough
Speaker 3day morning um mark and gareth here we are thinking a big crack on tempted this saturday and what are your thoughts at um she's alibi over two thousand meters next saturday that's from tommy boy tempted i don't know what's in the race so what's the premiere it's it's at there's more speed this time around um she'll probably
Speaker 4bounce off that first up right she didn't yeah she's pretty good she beat bibin and who else a head wall you've doubted that form well it hasn't proven very good no but she's she's a very good man she's a double 60. okay and she's alibi no issue yeah she should be winning shouldn't she i've
Speaker 3got no issue at two thousand yeah um point of law i'm getting good mail from the the point of law camp obviously it was owned by the king my only and i've and we were born um tells me i've got no idea as well but like why would the king sell a horse to win a melbourne cup i can't like johnny gosler wouldn't allow that to happen
Speaker 4would he well the king's not silly he sold aeolian yes you thought it was it's just gone through the mix sale has it i think it went through mix sales
Speaker 3well there you go um but i know that the king was sitting next to eileen ma so maybe he said to eileen well this is the horse that you could win a melbourne cup but i thought that the king would want to be winning a melbourne cup anyway sometimes you can read into things too much can't you you can i know she's very inexperienced but because three-year-old phillies run good in an everest can you ask mark about how overexcited her form around ice ladies saturn of glow and scintillation better than blue door especially over 1200 meters if she wins tomorrow do they need to look at her that's from mark from the central coast
Speaker 4she's on her first preparation very first preparation so you wouldn't think the everest would even be
Speaker 3under consideration yeah um what else have we got for you today what'd you make of the brisbane lions mark that's a great day and a great game it was one of the great games great
Speaker 4crowd the crowd was wrapped the crowd was happy it was a good day um
Speaker 3did you think the lines were finished yes yeah what'd you make of the manicato damien wants to know the manicato steaks that was last
Speaker 4sunday jimmy yeah uh look he that's the jimmy star we thought would turn up first up but yeah a few of them but boback just doesn't run 1200 a few of them are b graders giga kick needs a soft ground and jimmy bounced back to his best would you give up on giga kick no he just needs soft ground yeah he can't keep up on the dry there in a marks horses he's on dry ground he's not as good i wouldn't be so like i don't know what the
Speaker 3weather's like for the everest day
Speaker 4no he'll run well in the everest if he goes there on a wet
Speaker 3track on the way to sydney with the lads for a bucks party can you give us one double figures to cheer on from the corporate box tomorrow geez you're flying tie if you're going to a corporate box for a bucks party yes half your luck um miss watiti miss watiti um isn't sarah needing a good track to show his best that's heavy
Speaker 4tens a query but he ran on that heavy track at flemington but he wasn't going as well that was just his sort of um you know uh acclimatization runs so i think he'll be okay garrett
Speaker 3the king sold a potential melbourne cup horse because he doesn't um yes we're getting to spuds tips i thought i'd say that for last because it's kalgoorlie day it's golden saddle day at kalgoorlie tomorrow kathleen here um my text is concerning tom kitten and try and understand why he keeps being put behind the pack on the fence he's a fantastic runner but needs to stretch out to achieve that and not boxed in his previous races have done please give him the chance to get up there again where he was off the fence i've been following his career as late as my late father's name is tom i've been following his career as my late father's name is tom i've been following his career as late as my late father's name is tom i've been following his career as late as my late father's name is tom i've been following his career as late as my late father's name is tom and i saw my artwork cat and i saw my artwork cat and i saw my artwork cat first in my black book meant to be there first in my black book meant to be there first in my black book meant to be there you go that's from kathleen telling sam you go that's from kathleen telling sam you go that's from kathleen telling sam freeman and you know what good on you i freeman and you know what good on you i freeman and you know what good on you i know sam will be listening um kathleen's know sam will be listening um kathleen's know sam will be listening um kathleen's had enough of the tactics yeah
Speaker 4had enough of the tactics yeah
Speaker 3had enough of the tactics yeah yes and you give mark sarah advice yes and you give mark sarah advice it's mark hunter you should be blaming it's mark hunter you should be blaming it's mark hunter you should be blaming um he's a chance in epsom isn't he he's um he's a chance in epsom isn't he he's um he's a chance in epsom isn't he he's got 57 and a half back to the mile
Speaker 4got 57 and a half back to the mile got 57 and a half back to the mile look i haven't seen to be honest i look i haven't seen to be honest i look i haven't seen to be honest i haven't even seen the field in depth but haven't even seen the field in depth but haven't even seen the field in depth but he's going well he was good through the he's going well he was good through the
Speaker 3he's going well he was good through the line yeah gareth mark is correct smoochina line yeah gareth mark is correct smoochina line yeah gareth mark is correct smoochina has raced no one has raced no one has raced no one um saw mark hunter at the arrowville club um saw mark hunter at the arrowville club um saw mark hunter at the arrowville club in his element a few months ago didn't in his element a few months ago didn't in his element a few months ago didn't tip one what's new yeah tip one what's new yeah tip one what's new yeah um just give us the effing tips then um just give us the effing tips then um just give us the effing tips then talk all the crap good on you rob excuse me what else have i got for you today hey what else have i got for you today hey what else have i got for you today hey um um um mark when will you start to bet then for mark when will you start to bet then for mark when will you start to bet then for the melbourne cup
Speaker 4the melbourne cup the melbourne cup now usually yeah i haven't had a bet yet now usually yeah i haven't had a bet yet now usually yeah i haven't had a bet yet in the melbourne cup
Speaker 3in the melbourne cup
Speaker 4in the melbourne cup yeah i was hoping to find an import that yeah i was hoping to find an import that yeah i was hoping to find an import that i really liked and i didn't i really liked and i didn't i really liked and i didn't so i'll have a few little bits from so i'll have a few little bits from
Speaker 3so i'll have a few little bits from here on in will you walk the track here on in will you walk the track this week yeah flemington yeah about uh 11 o'clock okay and so like that's a i think tom's trying to work out when do you walk the track i walk at 11 o'clock but it could be a complete waste of time yes that's what he's trying to
Speaker 4say yeah well then you can't walk it i don't walk it on race morning got too many commitments so it has to be today the best time would be in the afternoon so maybe i'll put it back to the afternoon
Speaker 3hey mark i'll back la polo for the derby what do you think of
Speaker 4that yeah it's not silly i think it's favorite isn't it yeah yep yeah um anything out wide for
Speaker 3us a friday fill up well i'm
Speaker 4not having check final scratching is coming through at 10 o'clock gareth but i think uh the volta in the last race looked hard to beat all right if it's still running
Speaker 3i haven't checked when you review the races how many times do you watch
Speaker 4the replay uh that depends how many horses are in the race yeah i would watch say for we'll say the um rose of kingston with all those horses you'd probably watch i don't know eight times eight times from the 400.
Speaker 3um now the other question i've got for you is spud yep what's his best and who is spud there's a lot of questions
Speaker 4coming this week he's giving our chairman's table away has he he's got a wedding in cockatoo he doesn't even know the

Speaker 2join the conversation text us on 0-4-double-9-7-3-6-7-3-6 live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall welcome
Speaker 3back to giddy up maddie smith's been good enough to join us maddie hello to you gareth good morning you wouldn't believe it brother they might even move the races to monday you might even come to melbourne still if the rain comes in sydney tomorrow money
Speaker 7changed it could back up no but
Speaker 3um i don't know if you can like obviously if the races get moved to monday and it's a firmer track in melbourne would that change your mind or i don't know you've completely ruled that
Speaker 7out i think we'll run here now yeah yeah yeah we're at home home ground you know um yeah i think we just stay and see how he measures
Speaker 3and how how is he mate
Speaker 7he's good yeah you know he's um he's in good shape the horse he's continued to work well um you know he's i think he you know obviously learned his craft he's a bit of a baby at the moment but he's improving with each run so that's all you can
Speaker 3ask yeah and like um he's had a bit of a preparation as well has he showed any signs that he's um signing off this prep or you think he's only getting better uh
Speaker 7no i think he's getting better he um he's got his racist space fairly comfortably you know most of his runs are probably three weeks between runs so he's hasn't this is the first time he's two weeks between runs i think so um it's not like he's been put under a heap of stress um so yeah i think he's fine he's continued to you know his work has been enthusiastic that's the main thing so yeah i think we're going into the race in really
Speaker 3good shape what do you think his perfect
Speaker 7track is i don't know i i i feel like he's a big track horse he has a big action on him lovely big stride he's got like about an eight meter stride so he's he covers the ground comfortably and yeah i think the bigger the track the better yeah
Speaker 3um and the ground you know well we
Speaker 7don't know about him on the heavy ground but he handles soft ground soft and good no worries and yeah i mean sooner or later he'll go on a heavy track we'll find out but you know probably uh yeah i was just worried about the travel and then the heavy track and then the turnaround and all that so i thought we'll just give it a miss for saturday but yeah yeah looks a nice race
Speaker 3for queen's gamble is she good enough to win a flight
Speaker 7stakes yeah well i think if you went back to her couple of wins at warwick farmer i just said they were very dominant wins like she won like a steak sauce um yeah i think she can measure up in that race actually uh but last start was a bit of a you know hiccup that's for sure you don't like to see him race like that going into the main event so we've got to be conscious that you know she's still doing a few things wrong she was a bit aggressive the other day and she gave tommy a really hard time so i don't know she's going really well her work here this week's been super she can bounce back to shore yeah
Speaker 3it'll be an interesting tactical race won't
Speaker 7it now it will it will um yeah look um i don't like the gate no uh you know i wouldn't be surprised i don't know i've got to talk to tommy but wouldn't i wouldn't be surprised to see us roll forward on saturday wouldn't surprise me all right manny if
Speaker 3it's okay i've just got to go to a quick break um i want to ask you about idle flyer and then headball of course who goes around the premier stakes and don't forget for the giddy up listeners the weekend preview is not far away can't wait for this our mega boost horse will be announced after 9 30 as well this is giddy apple thanks to bet365 join the conversation text
Speaker 2us on 049736736 live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall welcome back to giddy
Speaker 3up um this is the weekend preview just around the corner we've got maddie smith on the line has been good enough to join us so um we'll get to the weekend preview in just a moment but maddie i don't fly can you win an epsom from gate 18.
Speaker 7yeah look uh tough tough from the gate she's going very well though she's in the right form to win the race um she's very good at the randwick mile uh but the gate is a bit of a problem that's for sure so um we'll be as positive as we can but we'll see what happens jacob's got a job on his hands
Speaker 3good luck jason it's going to be a fascinating epsom this year i'm looking forward to that and then in the premier stakes he didn't have any luck there the other day head wall he gets a low gate mcavoy rides your thoughts about his chances he's great
Speaker 7the horse is good he's two runs back have been fantastic and yeah he just gets that uh lovely gate um you know there's good speed of course in the race and you know he's always one of those horses that's going to be looking for a run i guess it's going to be the same situation again but if they if they can sort of roll along at a good gallop that'll really aid his chances he can then come into the race late um He's in good shape, the horse. Really happy with him and looking forward to the Everest.
Speaker 3And Golden Strand?
Speaker 7Yeah, improving horse. Look, he's gone through his grades and he's done that the right way. The gate's a problem, for sure. I wanted to just see where he was up to, to be fair. I just thought, well, let's see how he measures up. Then we can plan the preparation around that. I think he's a good horse and I think he might even end up in Melbourne a couple of races down there a bit later. But, yeah, look, the gate will make it difficult. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the track there later in the day, too. I know there's a bit of rain forecast. So, yeah, I think we'll just see what happens. But he's going well, but the gate will make it hard for him to win.
Speaker 3If I gave you $100, what would you do with it this weekend?
Speaker 7$100 this weekend. Tough call this weekend. I'd probably have to stick with Athol Wolfe. But the others are going well. We're just a few things against a couple of the others, but I'd probably stick with him.
Speaker 3Beautiful. So that's race seven, number seven in the Metropolitan. The Knights or the Roosters?
Speaker 7Roosters I'll go for.
Speaker 3Okay, there you go. Good luck. It's going to be a big weekend, mate. We appreciate your time, and we'll see you in Melbourne, no doubt, in the next couple of weeks, which is exciting as well. So good luck tomorrow in Sydney, mate. Thanks, Gareth. Good on you. Appreciate it. There's Matty Smith, 9.32. Let's get stuck into the weekend preview.
Speaker 2It's now time for the weekend preview with Mick Gannon, Dean Watling, and Ben Caluzzi.

Speaker 8Good morning to you, G. Gents, good to be in the studio.
Speaker 3Exciting news because Giddy Up Saturday is kicking off tomorrow on 7 plus and 7.2 from 9.30 Eastern time.
Speaker 9Yeah, correct. So Miles has to get the flight to Sydney. It's been hard to get a flight out of Melbourne today. We've had our flight change a few times with the weather, but that kicks off tomorrow, 9.30 to 11.30, 7.2.
Speaker 3So just tell us what this show's all about, Mickie Gannon, because it's you and the magic man that will be doing it. Zach will be part of the show.
Speaker 8Yeah, absolutely. So we'll take you through some New Zealand racing nice and early, G. Yeah, absolutely. We'll find you a few winners with Jane Ivel. That's perfect. And then there's always a good way to start your day. And then we'll take you through the feature races. We'll build a quaddi, your best bets across the day. We might even have a big announcement at 10 o'clock tomorrow with this Flemington as well, this track. So we'll see what happens there. But make sure you're tuning in. It's somewhere between ice road truckers and the Gold Digger show, so it'll be good.
Speaker 3Nah, it'll be a raining bonanza. There's no doubt about that. Dean Watling joins us here because I don't think this man's ever been better, really, Dean Watling. He's been on fire. He's been on fire of late, on and off the track, and he joins us now. How late are you, Dino?
Speaker 10Good morning, G. Good morning, boys and gano. Sounds like I'm going to have to record ice road truckers on my Saturday, so that's okay. I'm sure we can do that.
Speaker 3And Dino, you must be, like, I don't think you've been in better form, really, heading towards the spring. Do you feel that? Because I feel that when I watch you on your social
Speaker 10media platforms. G, there's always room for improvement. And, you know, pats on the back do put you to sleep, G. So I'm sure we'll get brought back down to earth this Saturday.
Speaker 3I'll bring you back down to earth. Now, I've never seen a man curse two jockeys like you did to Gibbons and Lloyd there yesterday, last week, I should say, when you had lunch with them.
Speaker 10Well, G, you'd love to know. I'm going to head out to the Warwick Farm stables of Joe Pride this afternoon. So I'm going to interview Brave Pride. So I dare say if Chow Wolf and Attica run no good, that might be the end of the series, G.
Speaker 3Yeah. Brave Pride, I think he enjoys the means test. He's had some fun over the time with Wayne and Johnny. I think Joe Pride told me the other day, he can't believe he hasn't found SEN track. He got a free dinner off Johnny, didn't he? Yeah, he did, SEN earlier. So there you go, Dino.
Speaker 8I think we can use Dino to our benefit here. So if you start slowing him down, maybe we can point him in the direction we want him to go week to week and away we go.
Speaker 3No, but I thoroughly enjoy the interview. That's good gear. Yeah. Michael Parkinson, Ray Martin, and then there's Dean Watling.
Speaker 10Don't know who they are, G.
Speaker 3I'll take that as a compliment, whoever it is. Karl Stefanovic. Tommy Steinfurt these days, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Okay, beautiful. All right, Epsom day tomorrow, looking forward to it. Obviously, Flemington, there's a lot of rain. They had just over 50 mils, Liam O'Keefe telling us yesterday. There's only five to 10 mils only predicted today, but the most important part about how this Flemington track will be going ahead of tomorrow's meeting is tomorrow morning, how much rain that they have tomorrow morning. Now, there is a lot of rain. There's even rain predicted in the afternoon. So, they want to run that meeting and they need to run that meeting. So, they're just crossing their fingers and toes that it does happen on a Saturday afternoon, September, but if they have to transfer and if they transfer it and the rain comes as predicted, I don't see them going to Sunday. I reckon they'll go to Monday. So, what does that mean for the punters? Like, if you've had a bet and got a top price now at Flemington, does that bet stay or do you get your money back?
Speaker 9Yeah, so stakes are refunded on final field bets. So, if you've had a bet, if you've had it all in or futures, your bet stays until it runs, but any final field bets, yeah, stake is refunded.
Speaker 3Okay. That's disappointing because then Braden and the traders just take my intel.
Speaker 9Yeah. Maybe just hold off. No, it's too late. It's too late. Well, it's annoying because at the moment, similar with like our top four multi, right? If Flemington gets off, then it's going to become a two leg. If that happens, we'll do something similar like we did last week and just put up another one, which both won last week.
Speaker 3Yeah. Unbelievable. How is Braden going? Because let's get to our weekend preview. Top four multi. Before that, our mega boost horse, because it's been in play for seven odd minutes.
Speaker 2Yes. Yes. Good music.
Speaker 3Now, we'll have to go over because we've started it late. It's 9.37. Well, he said no worries.
Speaker 9So, Braden's been saying, is Gareth going to get to it anytime soon? Settle down, Braden. We'll move forward. So, anyone watching on TV.
Speaker 3It's my show, Braden, not yours.
Speaker 9Anyone watching on TV is going to see that the super's been there for seven minutes. 750 people. We've already taken this bet. Yeah. It is a race for number one Genesis runner. Real price, $2.10. You're getting $3. This is for the Dulcify. So, earlier on at Ram Week. So, $3. Not bad. You have to go to the race card. You have to be logged in.
Speaker 3We did mention Genesis runner would be our mega boost horse. So, we did start a little early without officially announcing it. And that's your horse, Mickey Gatton. Let's hope it doesn't get scratched.
Speaker 8Yeah. Just part owner with Yulong. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Look. I think this horse probably should have won the Ming Dynasty. Just give it an average. Two out of 10 sort of job. But get to be possible. Chad Schofield back aboard. Definitely. Who rode it last time? Kieran. McAvoy. Kieran McAvoy. Not Kieran. Yeah.
Speaker 3So, you agree with that?
Speaker 8Just please, Dino, stay away from Chad Schofield.
Speaker 10I do, Gene. I'm not heading out to Richard and Will's stables either. And the blinkers do go on. So, I think that's the key push there. I like the setup. I like the runner. And we're getting a juicy, juicy price, boys.
Speaker 3That's great. That's grouse, then, Dino. Hopefully, we can get the job done. Now, the weekend preview top four multi.
Speaker 9Yes. We're already at 900 people before we've even taken it. They've already taken it. So, you're getting a tick over $14. So, this is on the homepage. You will not see it. The real price is just under $9. You're getting $14.03. So, the runners are…
Speaker 3It's already firmed in. Obviously, everyone knows it's at 9.30. But there must have been a scratching or something.
Speaker 9So, what happens? Yeah. So, this will pretty much stay around. At the end of the segment, we'll move it down just a tick. But four runners are Columbus in race one, kicking off early. Someone's gone Skewer in race three at Flemington. That's me. Let me meet someone. Autumn Boy in race eight. And then Sir Delia. So, why don't you kick it off, G? You put a lot of value into this top four. Yeah, about time.
Speaker 3Because Skewer gets the blinkers on. And, you know, I've been on this horse for a while. I told everyone to back it at 50 to 1 for the Derby. It looks like a horse that will just slap up the X. Extra trip. The heavy track should help its staying capabilities. I think it's a better stay than its opposition. I think it'll finish in the top four on pace, out of trouble. I think it's a big price. Someone was telling me they bet $70 during the week. Like, I completely missed that. But hopefully, it finishes in the top four. And if it does, and Jack Turnbull's just a terrible judge. Wow. No, I'm only kidding. Last week, he took a 70 to 1 double. I really like Skewer. Is anyone with me here? Just like Mark Hunter didn't even have it in his top five.
Speaker 9Benny, you're the Melbourne form guy in Skewer.
Speaker 11I like it as a horse. Look, it's got to elevate a little bit to be winning this race. As a horse. I think you can run top four. I do like your point about heavy track. Its staying capabilities coming to the fore. Blinkers. Blinkers first time. The favourite La Polo drawn barrier one just can't be a good thing.
Speaker 3No, I don't think so either.
Speaker 11So, you know, you've got to risk it for the biscuit, Gene. You've put the value into the multi.
Speaker 3And let's be honest, they're progressive three-year-olds. No one really knows how good these, three-year-olds are. And like he's got that, that race at Newcastle. Then I don't know if you watched it. It was very good. The other, when it was on the boo against Chris Wallace horse, something burning. So yeah, I think it's got the ability to run the top four. Surely. Who's got Columbus?
Speaker 8That's me, Gene. Yeah. Kick off the first nice and early 1205. So if we.
Speaker 3Don't stuff it up because I want Skewer going into the second round.
Speaker 8Yeah. Make sure you
Speaker 3hand the baton to me this time. Yeah, unbelievable. I didn't know how to spin down last time, but I think Columbus.
Speaker 8J-Mac, absolutely flying is J-Mac. He sticks aboard this horse by a done deal, 1,800 metres, second time. I don't think we're getting any rain at Sydney at this stage. No. It's very interesting to see how that's going to play out. It'll run top four.
Speaker 3All right, then. I think, Dino, you'd be with Autumn Poi.
Speaker 10That is me, G, feature event Epson. I just think he's in incredibly light at the weights. He's going terrific, brings sheets and alibi form. That's got to be the grouse form, as you mentioned, G. And Gate One, I love the setup here. You're going to find the back of a couple of nice horses in Attica and hopefully on the back of maybe Well-Written or Chia Wolf too. So, Autumn Poi for me.
Speaker 3Benny's gone out on a limb once again with Sir Delius.
Speaker 11Hey, it's a similar price to the Columbus thing. There you go. And I think we're getting about $1.45 for Sir Delius to run top four, which looks a bit of a gift. That is a good bet, yeah. He's the best 2,000 metre horse in Australia. He's two for two on a wet track, heavy track. And even if he's a run short, I still think he'll fill a top four position. Surely he doesn't miss top four.
Speaker 3If he misses top four, then he's in all sorts of trouble for a Cox play. We might have to wait till Monday though. That's disappointing. Well, we'll have to do a different one then. It feels a suspense. It could be Sunday.
Speaker 9If it moves, we'll do a Flemington top four by itself. We'll do that. We'll be doing another weekend.
Speaker 10Warwick Farms on Monday as well too.
Speaker 9Oh, is it?
Speaker 10Yeah, because it's a public holiday. Yeah, public holiday races.
Speaker 8We might have three top four multis. Not a public holiday down here? No, no. We had our public.
Speaker 3Yeah, we had our public. We had our public holiday on the Friday before the grand final. There you go. The AFL. 9.42, we're going to take a break. We'll come back and we'll start our preview of that Randwick card there on Epsom Day.
Speaker 2Text us on 0499 736 736.
Speaker 12And the world's going to know your name.
Speaker 3Well, in the Hall of Fame, the Giddy Up Hall of Fame, and the world does know his name. They don't know who he is anymore because he's out of shape. But Paul Sebastiani with the Mega Boost horse this week, he hasn't missed, has he, Zach?
Speaker 9Yeah, so I've decided to put a couple of names. I gave Louis one go at Even Money the other day. Producer Louis, best of the day. He's no good. He's no good. He's no good. Then Paulie steps up. And he's just gone bang, bang, bang. Last three days in a row. Thank you, Paulie. Traders are loving you, mate. But yeah, have a day off and we'll bring him back. But yeah, fine. Like Pervine, bolted in yesterday.
Speaker 3Won by about four. A hundred percent. And do you know what? He called himself God. Is that right? Not far off. And then like, and then he, like, if we could get, hey, Paulie, you there? And now you've had a shave. Like what's inspired you to shave after? Like you never take the beard off when you're on a, when you're on a run like this.
Speaker 13No, no. I've got a coffee date on Sunday. I have. What's her name? Momentum. I'll let you know after Sunday.
Speaker 3I know her name. Can I reveal it? No, you can't. Does she work at the local coffee shop around the corner? She might. Oh, F Curry Store. I think she's Greek. Yeah. Welcome. Welcome, Paulie. Thank you. Thank you. Unbelievable. So there you go. Yatsu Dekamas. What was that, Dickie? That's Dino popping up. What was that, Dino?
Speaker 10I was just saying Yatsu Dekamas.
Speaker 13It's Yasu Tikanis. Which means hello, how are you? And you respond with good. Yes, yes. Thank you very much.
Speaker 3Well done. Anyway, the weekend preview is brought to you by Macca's. Don't Macca's walk. Macca's run to the new Nashville chicken range. Let's start this preview for Randwick. How will this Randwick track play, Mickey Gannon?
Speaker 8Yeah, it depends on how wet it gets and how much rain, G. But I imagine rails in the true position, lanes sort of four through to 12 will be the sweet spot where you want to be, just off the fence.
Speaker 3All right. Then let's have a look at the first leg of the quaddie. Obviously, as always, there's 10 races there. At Randwick on a Saturday. But before that, race six is the flight stakes, which is the first of the group ones over the mile. I've been telling everyone for so long that Bangkok Hottie is the way to go. And I've been proven right. She's been superb on the racetrack, winning her last couple. What price am I getting for her and the flight stakes?
Speaker 9Yeah, you're not wrong. So $3.20. There's three. They're obviously all around a similar price. But the bigger hold is for Global Gold. Obviously, ran well the other week. It is $3. Striking alibi as well. But interesting. In terms of hold, Global Gold.
Speaker 3All right, then. Global Gold, the most popular horse. We bet $3.65. Who do you like here, Dean Watling?
Speaker 10It's a fascinating race, G. It's somewhat a race in three. I think Bangkok Hottie should be a five-year-old now. It's got its birthday two weeks in a row.
Speaker 3Oh, please. Please, Dean. I love it. Well, it has.
Speaker 10It's found the front in two races, G, where they've crawled. Yes, you've got to do it. You've got to do it out in front, and we've seen War Woven do that. But in saying that, I think the track bias those last two times as well has helped that horse. I think it's advantage to Global Gold and Striking Alibi. Now, small field, they can camp up on pace. I know it's a 1,600-meter group one, but I dare say it's going to be run like a 1,400-meter sit and sprint, and I think that suits Striking Alibi down to the ground. I think a strong mile or mile-plus Global Gold would have won the race, but I just think with the race shape, Striking Alibi takes it out, boys. Disrespectful, Mickey Gavin. Tell me why.
Speaker 3Bangkok Hottie, she could even get her birthday again. She could. Yeah, out in front, dictating terms. And you know what? I don't think it's your birthday three starts in a row because that's the ability to jump and own a race.
Speaker 8Yeah, you put yourself into the race. You deserve to get the fruits of that. Interesting to see if the rain does come. I think she'll be better suited on the rain as well. I hope it does come, actually. By two down hot. But she'll make her own luck in the lead. Striking Alibi has the best turn of foot in the race. If they go too slow, and they get it at 300 metres, she'll go straight past them. Global Gold's the best stayer. I'm not sure it's going to turn into a staying test. Striking Alibi on top. I think J-Mac will just land outside later and prove too good for them. They'll just walk here.
Speaker 11Yeah. Good luck to Striking Alibi. Please. I'm going to go with the third one. I'm really keen on Global Gold. I think she looks the miler of this bunch. Look, I take the boys' point. If it does turn into a sit-and-sprint, that probably does favour Striking Alibi. But hopefully we get a bit of rain on race day. Global Gold, her superior stamina, I think, will come into play, and I'm happy to back her at better than $3. So that's the flight stakes.
Speaker 3I think in our futures show, we're all over Bangkok Coddy at 11. Global Gold was my play. So we'd be disappointed if we get beat.
Speaker 8I think it's a disappointing field, to be honest. You've got seven horses. You may not even get seven here by the time we go around. It's just devoid of speed. In a true mile test, Global Gold will clearly be the horse. Hopefully some of them come for the. 1,000 guineas, or at least one or two.
Speaker 3The Asahi Superdry Metropolitan over the 2,400 metres scratched the Six Valiant King, the Nine Piggyback, and the Eleven Mr Monaco, Zach.
Speaker 9Yep, and we know that Arthur Wolfe is likely going here. Well, he is. He's been scratched from Melbourne. So 230 logged in, 260 will be a mega boost as well tomorrow. So if you want to hold off, there will be one there. They love it. They have backed Arthur Wolfe. They have also chipped away at Soul of Spain, now into 750.
Speaker 3All right, Dan, we'll start with you, Mickey.
Speaker 8Well, speaking of disappointing fields, dropped away. So a small field for a Metropolitan. The Euphrates goes forward. Arthur Wolfe won't be too far away, and Deakin in behind them. Not a whole lot of speed here. I think it does give Sammy Clippen the opportunity on Jua Kibo to be close enough. And I liked his work last time to the line. I thought the Euphrates was blessed in the fact that the way that the track played on the day, albeit they did go a good speed. But I think at the price, Jua Kibo is the way to play the race. And Soul of Spain made good ground as well. But I think it probably just doesn't quite get the same run in transit. So I think Jua Kibo, the value. Arthur Wolfe, Dean, I'm interested in your thoughts on his Newcastle win. It was okay, but it didn't sort of strike me as awesome.
Speaker 10Yep, I agree. I think you probably expected a touch more. That's the query. Does he come to the end of the prep? Gano, I'm not sure. But I think he gets every possible chance on Saturday. I think that's the other tick you can have as the vice versa opinion there.
Speaker 11I'm with Arthur Wolfe. I think he wins. Look, he's probably getting into his right quote now, but draws beautifully. I don't think a little bit. I don't think a little bit of rain will worry him too much. And I think he'll, despite the URF80s being a tough nut to crack, I think he'll go past him in a straight.
Speaker 3So let's look at the Metrop. It's nine minutes to 10 o'clock. We're going to take a break. We'll come back and have a look at the Epsom. Get your text messages in on the Garrett's Horse and Hound text line 0499736736. The Mega Boost Horse is up for a little while now. And it's got another 10 or so minutes. Yeah, Genesis Runner. Yep. For Team Freeman and Chad Schofield. And the weekend preview. Top Four Multi is also up. You just go to the homepage and take a look at that. We'll take a break and we'll come back and we'll preview the group one. The famous Epsom Handicap with the weekend preview team next.
Speaker 2Text us on 0499736736.
Speaker 3This is the Macca's Run weekend preview. I'm Zach Tunbridge, Benny Caluzzi, Mickey Gannon, Dean Watley, and Gareth Hall with you. Good morning, gents. Mickey, G and Dean, I believe you both are wrong regarding Bangkok Hottie. She'll jump straight to the front control pace and put them away. Striking alibi. Had every chance last start.
Speaker 8We agree on three quarters of a test. That's how the race will unfold. But you're suggesting that Bangkok Hottie has a better turn of foot. That's not true.
Speaker 3That's the text message that came through. Come on, G-Man. Pull your right side collar out. and either that's a very small hat or Dino's got massive scone scone um what's with the young ones today can't find that clothes that fit that's a good point there ronnie um least he's got clothes on ronnie um fellas shark here from the sunny coast love the friday preview with you boys makes my day every friday my tip back true rebel for the derby now before the weekend and bangkok hottie to lead all the way giddy up i like the way you're thinking unfortunately i don't think the races go ahead tomorrow i don't think we'll see true rebel but he's a very good horse and he has to be a chance in the derby maybe dino should interview paulie instead this hour he may be able to land a date with his help that's from jess i don't know if we should be getting dating advice with um from dean watling after the feedback that i've got on the text message about dino's dating life oh boy it is embarrassing hi gareth everyone wants saturday to go ahead at flemington but if it doesn't surely the vrc would know if their backup plan was leading towards sunday or monday um there's a like the the meeting at the moment is definitely going ahead at flemington on a saturday afternoon depending on how much rain they get tomorrow then they'll have to weigh up how much rain is happening on saturday there's no good having the meeting on sunday when there's rain all through saturday night so um i would imagine if there is a plan b it'd be sunday or monday they'll have to look at that but um at the moment yeah we're definitely racing on a saturday afternoon morning g a four dollars in a massive 19 horse handicap is autumn boy simply under the odds there's a huge risk of getting trapped on the inside mean his true price should actually be closer to six dollars well for your sake dino you don't really care it's a top four play isn't it really autumn boy but we're about to discuss the epsom and it's going to be interesting because a few of these horses like well written and autumn boy drawn low yeah it's interesting yeah and um if you don't want to be on the fence then they might be in a little bit of trouble those favorites
Speaker 8the wetter it is the worse it's going to be for those to the inside so wait and see how the rain falls they're five to twenty mils gareth yeah but who knows when that when that arrives and that can
Speaker 3be a little like the weather bureau getting sydney right especially for a track like ranwick on the
Speaker 8coast they can be a hit and miss it says zero to five a week then five to twenty then zero to five they got no idea
Speaker 3so delius won't run a hole um just wondering sack is there ever seen the sun he looks like he's seen a ghost that's a bit hard who the f is jenison runner that's athelwulf will tempted what a joke really some feedback there for the mega boost um we're going to take a break we've got to probably regroup after a few of those text messages when we come back we'll preview the epsom have you

Speaker 2join the conversation text us on 499-736-736 live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall weekend
Speaker 3preview time all thanks to mac it's great to have your company on this friday morning look at this the team's in the house zachie tumbridge you know david king's daughter has just started a king of course the superstar afl expert who dominates fireball monday to friday in the footy season with cane corns his daughter has just started a i don't know if you can have a salarian but like one of those
Speaker 9this is what i was just looking that up in the break yeah really rock me maybe king can give
Speaker 3you a discount there it's a bit tough being from
Speaker 9sydney's northern beach aren't they illegal
Speaker 3i don't you know you would know i'm pretty sure
Speaker 10they're illegal aren't they it's an illegal
Speaker 9salarium someone's backyard yeah
Speaker 3um how is the mega boost
Speaker 9going uh it is probably give you another 10-15 minutes on this i'd say we are already at 2000 so real price is two bucks you're still getting three
Speaker 3and what about our weekend preview top four
Speaker 9multi just repeat those again they are so 1900 people are on that still getting fourteen dollars is columbus skewer for you autumn boy and sir delius all around top four fourteen bucks how to look around you're getting six with the others
Speaker 3i love how you said skewer for you because you just wanted to make the point that i'm the one that i like it um what race we up to up to the famous epsom no scratchings just yet sixteen hundred meters at round week go through the market for us
Speaker 9please zach yep in terms of popularity so autumn boy he did go up a bit shorter it is now four dollars but it doesn't stop um stop anyone backing it because it's really popular well written is the one that's firm 480 into 420 and i can tell you one that they don't mind at odds and again we in ghana were talking about it earlier is the cliche boulevard we even looked for that to run top eight you can still get even
Speaker 3money can you really yep after um oh no hang on a minute don't do that why did you bring that up yeah what about rothweiler benny kaluzi says why don't you let me have a crack going first in epsom i said no problems benny take it away
Speaker 11brother yes just on our rothfire betty i think you ran second last i would have won that over your last one you did actually hey he's retired now mate respect to the champ respect to the champ um i am with autumn boy primarily in this race i think he gets in really well with the 55 and a half kilos yes barrier one might be some knock hopefully he's three back defense gets off at some stage he was great in the mccarvey diva a little bit of rain shouldn't worry him and he also drew barrier one when he won the caulfield guineas i think chairwolf is over the odds at 15 you know i think he's got to defy a little bit of history carrying the 59 and he doesn't yet have the blinkers on but this horse is airborne don't worry about that and he loves a high pressure mile at ramwick all
Speaker 3right then mickey gannon
Speaker 8let's assume by this time of the day the rain has fallen i think autumn boy back to the inside they're gonna have to be positive here james and i think if he's with 55 and a half kilos he doesn't have the same sort of turn of foot that a declitchy boulevard will have with 50. so i expect him to be no worse than three pairs back the fence and he's going to need to produce an absolute 10 out of 10 char wolf comes into the race rain affected would love to see the blinkers on but doesn't quite get them i think he can run a race panova's one that's drawn wide i think she can be really really competitive with a lightweight and she's one of those horses drawn wide that will be at a flash home second up minor query but that's all things lead me to the cleachy boulevard who was just exceptional nobelis form yeah believe it or not yeah that's good that's good stuff where is nobelis she's in this week okay beautiful and i think third up chris waller 50 kilos just stalking autumn boy james will take uh andrew adkins a long way into the run and just peel off him and sprint because by this stage of the day you imagine they're trying to go to lane sort of six through 12. so andy adkins he'll get the run and what price we're getting exactly around 21 yep she's low flying this horse yeah 23.
Speaker 11yeah 23 dollars dino
Speaker 10yep fascinating race boys 1600 start ram we've got 500 meters to the turn so you look at history the epsom the don cars for these high pressure miles gates don't really mean a whole lot with that amount of turf to sort of sort out your order before the turn more often than not the best horse wins the race i think autumn boy is the best horse for him to carry the same weight as well written i think he gets in incredibly light he brings that she's an alibi form and i know gate one can be somewhat of a concern there but what i do love boys is he's got tom kit and mr miller chow wolf and potentially attica to his left so he's going to get a beautiful trail into the run regardless where he lands i think that's a big point i want to make and if the rain does come wet or dry doesn't matter i look to find attica obviously gets a three and a half kilo swing on autumn boy from the ramwick guineas clash when beating two lengths back in the autumn but i think if the rain comes gano his form just drops away ever so slightly so i think gordon boy wins but i think the big save is idle fly i think she's been disrespected gate 18 you read that you may be penner but like i mentioned there'll be a three wide line this is a race that you can blend in into the middle part of the track and she brings the autumn glow form so i'm going to lean on she's an alibi i'm going to lean on autumn glow so i've got autumn boy on top from idle flyer in this year's epson boys now boys
Speaker 3we're going to play again because there's been a few text messages throughout the week asking me can we do a yes or no with this weekend preview team i said it's a little harder because with hunter um it's only it's only it's only him and i and um we can go through it quickly so this is how we're going to do it we're going to give it a go if it works it works we'll continue on with it if it's a complete fail we won't do it again so this is what's going to happen danny can you listen carefully for me mate so you don't stuff this up i'll go through say char wolf we'll go mickey gannon benny calusi and because there's a slight delay because you're on the v mix back in your um where where do you live these days you know in your city mansion then you go are you rg you go last all the time but it's sort of like you can't think it's you should know yes or no all right no i'm bringing your iron i don't know if the rain comes yes no just like yes no you get me yes i'm excited about this no this is the epson over the 16th all right we're going to get it this is the epson for the weekend preview yes or no over the 1600 meters the famous ran with candy cap number one char wolf mickey gannon yes benny calusi yes dean whatley yes two tom kitten no no no three autumn boy yes yes yes four idle flyer yes yes Yes. Yes. Five, Lady Shenandoah. No. No. No. Six, Well Written. No. Yes. No. Seven, Militarized. Yes.
Speaker 11No. No. Eight, Attica. No. No. Yes. Nine, Vivier. No. No. No. Ten, Fully Lit.
Speaker 3No. No. No. Eleven, Helsing. No. No. No. Twelve, Perfumist. I hate that horse. No. No. No. Thirteen, Matcha Latte. No. No. No. Fourteen, Panova. Yes. No. No. Fifteen, Plymouth. No. No. No. Sixteen, Guards at Window. No. No. Yes. Seventeen, Clichy Boulevard. Yes. No. No. Eighteen, NCAP. No. No. No. And nineteen, Mr. Miller. No. Yes. Yes. There you go. The suspense there from Dino is unbelievable. Um, so what did you make? I'm trying to time it. Yeah, I know. Yes. Oh, God. I think the, I think the big talking point out of all of that was well-written and militarized.
Speaker 8Yeah, I'll take on well-written. I think anything worse than a soft five, she's in all sorts. I think a couple of us against Attica. Yeah. I think Attica's a great chance.
Speaker 3Fifty-one and a half blinkers on. Can't have them all. You can't have them all. I reckon he's a 2,000 meter horse. Yeah. Strong pace, 1,600 meter. Epson with no weight on his back. If he's ever going to win a 1,600 meter race at this level, Saturday is his day. Let's have a look at the premier stakes. No scratchings to report over the 1,200 meters. Saki Tumbridge. Yup.
Speaker 9And Tempted is holding 95% of the hold already on this race. Uh, it's a $1.65. It was a bit better earlier in the week. You get headwall, you're getting double figures. Um, but I can't really steer you into anything except Tempted.
Speaker 3Can you steer us into anything here, Mickey Gannon?
Speaker 8Yeah, I'll stay out of a win bet in this race. I think Tempted, I think she just comes out and wins. But obviously 28 days, rain affected track, you know, with plenty of, uh, bigger targets in sight being the Everest. I'm happy to back Plaintiff. I thought she was enormous in the Scirocco. Made really good ground here by Zoostar. I think the rain affected tracks are too big a deal and draws a really good gate. So it can land it a little closer to the speed. And I think she can definitely run a place, Dino.
Speaker 10Yeah, fascinating race, a stack of speed up front. There'll be a three-wide line. Tempted blends into that, likely wins the race. But like you mentioned, Gannon, you're probably shopping for place odds. And I thought the two Cabalists has trod up like a rocket. Yes. He probably went under all our guard in the autumn when he won the new market. But I think he's come back even better off that. And I dare say, Benny, there's no better stable in Sydney at the moment than the Bjorn Baker Army.
Speaker 11Yeah, love it. Um, Tempted wins. I do think I can't take $1.65 personally. I probably want more like $1.85, $1.90 to be making her a bet. Um, maybe play a same race multi. I think Tempted wins and either Headwall or Ninja have, uh, have the, the form. Maybe a top five and you can get better than even money doing that.
Speaker 3Um, Bjorn's hit back after Dernay said he's legless. They're going at 3% about three or four weeks ago. And since then, he just hasn't stopped training winners. What? Yeah. Reverse the curse. Reverse the curse. I think he jumped into the pool and said Bjorn's going at 3% and dived into that Bondi pool and then dived out. Since then, he has made quite the splash. B Baker, um, race number 10 over the 1200 meters. Benchmark 94. Scratch the 15. Jimmy Ricard, who comes to Melbourne and Eagle Express the 16 is out here.
Speaker 9Zach. Yes. And the most popular runner here is the Blade. Uh, you're getting a bit of a, bit of a better price earlier on. If you logged in, you can see 475, but it is 420. They have had a little bit on, surfs up and one at odds is Platinum Pantheon.
Speaker 3All right then. Um, you go first
Speaker 8here, Mickey Gannon. Yeah. What a way to finish a good day racing. The Blade on top, but lands in a really good position in run. First up. Proven performer breeding might actually handle a, a heavily rain effected track. So we're yet to see it. No real confidence. They know the third and the Blade.
Speaker 10Yeah. I think this race will take shape a lot easier. Come a race day, but I thought best car was pretty good. First up cross the line in a couple of states going in a prayer. Yeah. So, um, this is a lot easier set up for Saturday. James likes it sticks in the saddle and finds a one, one Benny. I like best guy.
Speaker 11Best guy. I like the blade. He did win one, uh, one day at Kensington and that track was probably heavier than advertised. So if it does get a bit slow, I think he'll handle it, but surfs up is probably my value selection around the nine, $10 mark. Um, she's got the 53 kilos. She maps mile from barrier three. And, uh, I think she's in for a big prep. She's a text lines going off
Speaker 3on the Garrett source and hand text line. And I'm thoroughly enjoying the feedback that we're getting here. Um, that's just hilarious. Yes. I know. I couldn't even concentrate. I was laughing too much. That segment. And no spin men and Altona surely we can clip this up for a new yes, yes, yes. And Oh no. Stinger for Dino to say no to well-written with his boy. Zach Lloyd means a lot. I'm now pinning it. The suspense with Dino is absolute cinema. They should belay that segment. Gareth. Good morning, gents. If the anticipated Ramwick rain arrives militarized at 14 to $15 a place, but get on surely third in the Doncaster behind she's alibi and autumn boy in similar conditions. Wide Barry. No issues. That's from Joe from Ascot.
Speaker 8Vale. The wide barrier probably helps if we are on a heavy deck. So I love the play. Love the thing.
Speaker 3He'll finish fourth. If we back in the place, militarized go top four. Yeah. Then he'll finish fifth. Yeah. Top eight.
Speaker 9Top eight. That's a big field. You could probably back in your back.
Speaker 3Top 10. Militarized in the mega boost. Yeah. Yeah. We should
Speaker 9have actually, I don't know who like $2. Top 10. That would have went off.
Speaker 3Yeah. Yeah. Tempted is more than a moral app. Um, tempted is more than a moral. Unfortunately. No odds. I am all for new ideas, GMM, but I reckon you just keep the yes or no for Mark Hunter. Also that shark bloke that texted in hasn't backed the winner since winks fourth Cox plate Bangkok. Coddy cart. We now have his money's on her. That's from the Gablo. Um, for Dino to say, we've already read that one out. Um, what else have we got for you? Um, doesn't Dean live in the North pole going off that Christmas tree set up? Um, won't be any racing in Melbourne tomorrow. It's hammering down. If you're professionals on giddy up, um, brackets, the best race show in the world. I think that the best jockey in the world doesn't get out as a joke. That's from Steve. I think that's about Jay Mack with autumn boy.
Speaker 8Yeah. Yeah. They'll be going to the wider lane. So he'll, he'll get his chance. Okay. It just might be in the inferior.
Speaker 3Yeah. If I'll make next to Benny Caloosie, he's named Zach. Mind you. He looks like a ghost in Ghana. He looks like a tomato. Yeah. What's doing. Wayne Hawks. He's just nervous. Yeah. Wayne Hawks moved from that seat. It's a tomato seat.
Speaker 9Yeah. He refused. Maybe I should sit there.
Speaker 3Hi Gareth. Michael Friedman will scratch the injury if the rain doesn't come and you will then trial him in the cane rising barrier trial next week. That's for me. Is that ninja? Yep. There you go. Um, do the boys think Zach Lloyd will dictate to Jay Mack during the run? Do you know you're giving nervous last week? Yeah. You're giving Zach some, um, I think I even give me a drive by with that interview with Zach Lloyd. How's that? Oh, I did do Jay.
Speaker 10Yeah. Well, it turned out to be right. It did go forward. Our, our mate, our white. Um, I think Zach's idea would be to land off rails G and probably pocket autumn boy on the inside. If I was reading into any tactics, I think that's what is there a bit of tension between,
Speaker 11is there a bit of tension between Zach Lloyd and Jay Mack at the moment after that little bit of bustling? Yeah. Yeah. A bit of heat in the job. No comment. No comment.
Speaker 8Prince of the King. I've actually noticed a bit of a theme. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Dino threw under the bus with Jay Mack as well.
Speaker 3So. Yeah. He's just using my name. He is. Isn't he? Ladder climbing. Yeah. Yeah. Morning G love the show. I sought my best bets out on Wednesday night for the Saturday racing. So I don't get biased by any other experts. That's what Gator does as well. And he is what Gator is an expert. I don't know how you're thinking here, Coxie. This week I have in Sydney striking alibi, autumn boy in the value bed is green spaces. And in Melbourne, I have the next episode to deal this. And the value bed is piggyback. I like the way you're thinking here. I think a few of the punters listening to the giddy up will be picking back off your tips here. Coxie. Do you agree there? What was the question? Do you like any of his tips? Yeah. Pick it back. Yeah. The next episode. No, leave me out. Striking alibi. Yeah. Autumn boy. Striking alibi. Yeah. Green spaces. I don't know about green spaces, but. See the spruik was big. Yeah. Hi Benny.
Speaker 11What happens to the podcast multi if we are called off tomorrow? Love your work. We'll just be a one leg tempted. Yeah. So you'll get hopefully a decent boost on tempted still, but yeah, that'll happen.
Speaker 3If there's an upset, it's the cliche Boulevard. It'll have the back of autumn boy. That's just my opinion. Smart. Zach Lloyd to make life difficult for J Mac and char Wolf to rattle home and win. Hi Gareth. Everyone wants Saturday to go ahead at Flemington, but if it doesn't surely the VRC would know if their backup plan was leading towards Sunday or Monday. Well, not necessarily because they don't know how much rain is going to come Saturday. No point having the meeting on a Sunday if the track's no good on Sunday. and there's an absolute moral. Give me our boys. My old man always said to me, back lightweights in a big Randwick Miles. Attica suits that to a T. That's from Bernie. Come on, G. Don't let these boys disrespect you. I know, they don't listen. You know, what's better than birthday two weeks in a row rather than have a birthday three weeks in a row? We'll love to see Bangkok Hottie get the job done once again. It's from Frank from Perth. Can someone throw out a futures tip for the Derby? I would like a few free Guinnesses over Carnival Week. That's from Jack the Banner.
Speaker 8It would be skewer, wouldn't it, Gareth?
Speaker 3Yeah, at 50 to 1. But right now, I don't know if there's much meat on the bone for any of our futures
Speaker 11plays in those classics. You know, Matty Stewart was spruiking that Paddy Payne horse who won a high weight yesterday by about five. Which one? In the Derby. I'll have to get it up. Hold on. It won race one at Warrnambool yesterday. Its name was Enchilada. It was impressive. Enchilada? Enchilada, yeah. There you go.
Speaker 3It was impressive. It was good. I've got to take a break. How's our weekend preview top four multi going?
Speaker 9It's going to go down in the break.
Speaker 3What do you mean it's going down, bro? You said we could have it for the rest of the show.
Speaker 9The top four multi is down just for the moment because there's a scratching in race through at Flemington. True Rebels just come out. So we'll be back in a sec.
Speaker 3I said to Mark, why are you tipping it? It's going to be scratched on a heavy track anyway. You know what? It's scared of skewer. We'll take a break. We'll come back and we'll preview Flemington next. This is the Maccas Run weekend preview. Great to have your company as always on a Friday morning. A lot of fun. The boys are in the studio. And of course, we are here for Maccas for the weekend preview. Don't Maccas walk. Maccas run. Run to the new Nashville Chicken Range. You went to Nashville, didn't you, Dino, in recent times?
Speaker 10Greatest place on earth, G. They tell me. Caught the tip and head there.
Speaker 3Yeah, you used to like, used to be blind and then you used to FaceTime me. You know, like, have a look at Nashville. You do that to a lot of people. A lot. A lot of people. Best bets in Sydney because we've got the two-year-old races as well. Dino, you can take it away.
Speaker 10Yeah, well, my two best come up in the two-year-old races, G. I was annoyed. I was annoyed that Fiji was scratched. But we're going to go race two, number one, at Capitano in the Breeders. That's for the boys. And we look to follow it up, race three for the girls. Down the bottom, number 12, she's a blaze. Outside of that, I thought Striking Alibi and Autumn Boy were the best outside of those.
Speaker 8All right, then, Mickey Gannon. Race one, number one, Columbus. G, hopefully get the job done nice and early in the midway. And race four, number one, Genesis Runner.
Speaker 11Race four, number one, Genesis Runner. That $3 was a very tasty price. Race six, number three, Global Goal.
Speaker 3Let's have a look at this Flemington card now. It's moving day. What a meeting it is. You've got lead-up races to the Derby, the Oaks, the Coolmore, the Empire Rose, of course, the Cox Plate, the Caulfield Cup, and the Melbourne Cup with the running of the Turnbull Stakes. So it is a beauty. There's stars everywhere you look. Let's have a look at the Quaddie Leagues. Kicks off in race number seven. And it's the Bark Cummings, Alexis Bark Cummings. This is the golden ticket, the final golden ticket into the Melbourne Cup. And there's a few scratchings here. You can take out Jujie Caboo and Afflewolf, both going around in the Metrop. Here's Zach. Yep.
Speaker 9And now the favourite has gone on to Wooten Verney. So a lot of people I saw took $11. And the good thing with us with deductions, we only deduct off the winning portion of the bet. So not the stake. So it's a pretty good deduction policy there. So Wooten Verney is the top of the market there at $6.50 now, which has been really well backed. Piggyback as well. That's at sevens and likewise with Lidsteel. That's $6.50 the field.
Speaker 3And just there's been a few text messages. Why isn't Craig Williams riding Wooten Verney? Well, he thought he was going to ride Afflewolf. So he took that ride and then Afflewolf didn't come. So he couldn't get back on Wooten Verney. So Jaya McNeil takes the ride on the favourite here in the Bark Cummings. Who wants to go first? You can kick off proceedings here, Benny Caluzzi.
Speaker 11Very, very difficult race. I'm probably going to have two bets on two roughies, Campaldino and Barkley Square. Look, they're near the top of the weights, but I think both of them will be big. They've got a lot of movers getting onto this wet track. It's not a race I want to get too involved in, but Campaldino, Barkley Square, $13 and $16 small bets.
Speaker 8It's into $13 now, Campaldino. Mickey Gannon? Yeah, rolls forward, doesn't it, from the wide draw, blinkers on again. So you'd imagine get every possible chance with Geordie Charles aboard. I was with Piggyback. I thought she'd improve significantly, hopefully to obviously more a slower run race. That was a pretty quick 2,000 metres there at Randwick in the Kingston town. Rain affected the track, no issue at all. It'll change if they don't go around, because I think you want to rain affected track for Piggyback, but price gone now, Dino.
Speaker 10Yep, I'll add to Piggyback too. Gannon comes through that Randwick meeting where it was really, really hard to make any sort of ground. I think that's got a tack on Merritt. Go back two starts and was really good. So I think if we can add on Merritt, Piggyback goes mighty close in this race, G.
Speaker 3Race 8 is the feature. It's the famous Turnbull Stakes. It set weights and penalties, which is always an interesting race to work out. Like, you get horses like Buckaroo that. It's 55 kilos. He won't know himself against some of these horses. You can scratch Sol with Spain and Deakin, the 10 and the 14. Let's have a look at the market. What price Sir Delius is? He looks to defend his title in the Turnbull Stakes, Zach.
Speaker 9$2.80, and we have a boost on Aliana, so you can get $4.25. They are not backing anything else. In terms of hold, they are spot on. 47% Aliana and 46% Sir Delius.
Speaker 8Mickey Gannon? I think she's back in a big way. In fact, I never thought she really went anywhere. Aliana, this is a perfect set up for her. Third up, Wallah. We know he gets his horses to peak. Third up, obviously going towards a Cox Plate. I think they want to see the best version of her here on Saturday, or maybe even it becomes Monday or Sunday. But I think Damien Lane's suits can land a little bit closer in the run. So Delius has to come across. And then you've got sort of a lighter infantryman, Cosmic Crusader. I can see Aliana being top four in run here and just having the best sprint here. I think she can out sprint Sir Delius.
Speaker 11All right then. Benny Caluzzi? I think lighter. Light infantryman getting up to 2,000 meters will lead. And that'll just give Sir Delius a nice bunny to aim at coming across from barrier nine. He's unbeaten on heavy tracks. We know his French form was very good on wet tracks. Look, he might still be one run away. But I think if this turns into a bit of a slog on a really testing track, he's the one. He's my best of the day. And I'll just have a small saver on Aliana. They're the two. I'm gapping Cosmic Crusader. I've marked him double figures. Did they want to lead on light infantryman?
Speaker 3Jack didn't sound too confident, Jack Turnbull, when I had a chat to him yesterday. Well, what else is he going to do? He's not going to run top four.
Speaker 11Follow Sir Delius. Sir Delius might take this up, to be honest.
Speaker 8Yeah. It's interesting, over the mile, he had to be scrubbed up to even hold a spot, Sir Delius. He gets his chance to lead here.
Speaker 3Well, Sir Delius can only beat a few of these horses if he does make it a solid race, doesn't he? Because he hasn't got the turn of foot there of the others.
Speaker 8I agree. He's never led.
Speaker 11No. Well, he won this last year. It wasn't fiercely run. But I agree. Aliana probably does have a better acceleration than him. How do you rate this race, Dino? The Turnbull Stakes.
Speaker 10Yeah. Well, I broke it down, G, in the sense of Sir Delius does improve a stack a second up. But in saying that, the figure that Aliana put up last start is better than Sir Delius has ever gone second up. So he's got to go to a new second up career peak, Sir Delius, where Aliana's got two runs under the belt. Her figure last start. Now, with that fitness under the belt, like I mentioned, wet track, lands on speed. I think she should be a lot closer, if not favorite, in this race. That's not discounting Sir Delius at all. I just think the process. The processes are wrong, and Aliana gets every possible chance to win this race. So I'm with her.
Speaker 3All right, then. The boys keen on Aliana. Well, Mickey Gannon and Dean Whiteling and Benny Caluzzi keen on Sir Delius. It's going to be a beauty, that Turnbull Stakes. And we'll learn a lot more, because it is moving day. Like, what does the Melbourne Cup champ half yours do? Does he go to a Caulfield Cup? Does he pivot?
Speaker 8He'll be well-suited here, rain-affected track. They'll be hoping to race tomorrow.
Speaker 3If you backed Aliana for a Melbourne Cup, if she wins tomorrow, I don't know if they'll go to a Melbourne Cup. They might just concentrate on the Cox Plate Champions Stakes.
Speaker 8Would they not be concentrating on a Cox Plate anyway?
Speaker 3Yeah, they are, but I'm saying that. She's got 58, doesn't she? Yeah, in the Melbourne Cup. She'll win. Just get there. Please run. Just get there. If Saran runs a big race, Mark Hunter's tipping him to, like he says he can win. If he can finish in the top three, what price would he be for a Caulfield Cup, Saran?
Speaker 11Five bucks, isn't he? Something like that. Yeah. Just for the punters out there as well. Usually with handicaps that had some penalties races, you do cop a penalty for the Cups by winning the Turnbull, but they do have that veto for this race only. Yeah. They wouldn't do that to prod half yours if he wins. Imagine Aliana getting another kilo.
Speaker 3Imagine. This would just be pumped. It's still win. I hope she does.
Speaker 8Yeah. Like, Dana Sullivan did a great piece. We spoke to him before he did it, so maybe he's listening to the show, but he's gone and done the piece on Aliana and how well she is even with that weight. And, um, I think he does a bit of work with Chris Waller as well. So hopefully that message gets delivered.
Speaker 3But I don't think it's like listening and talking to Chris Waller. It's not that he doesn't think she can win with 58. It's just how much that might hurt her carrying 58 in a high pressured Melbourne Cup.
Speaker 8Well, it's probably even more to the point where a victim of how many good horses Chris has, because he can send another four horses to win the Melbourne Cup. If he didn't have any other horses, then she would be going there.
Speaker 11What did Very Elegant carry and what did she beat incentivized by?
Speaker 3Yeah. What was Very Elegant's record after the Melbourne Cup?
Speaker 11I think she carried four horses. I heard 57. 57 and a half. Eliana's a better horse than Very Elegant.
Speaker 3Yeah. But that's the point. Like, she could win the Melbourne Cup. That's a call. What about if he wants to win two Cox Plates with her? No, I get it.
Speaker 8Yeah. That's what he's weighing up. Yeah, like, we understand that. But for the love of racing.
Speaker 3For the love of racing, yes. Yes. If that, for the love of racing, he would go on the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, and Melbourne Cup, Chris. That's a good point, you mate. Skybirds at 380 in the Gilguy. Hedge at 650. Smicino, something for the battlers, at 750. Arkansas Kid, $9. War Machine, $10. Are they backing any of these horses?
Speaker 9Three Dimensions. Skybird, really popular. 380. A lot of people took 480 and $5. You can get 425 with a boost. A couple of odds that they don't mind is Arkansas Kid, now at nines, and Inca Runa at twelves.
Speaker 11Benny Clousey? Two strong bets for me here. Two horses that ran the Quinella in this race two years ago are Skybird and Arkansas Kid. And on a wet track again, I think they can do the same again. Skybird on top. Look, she was just fair in that Moyer. I think she'll be ridden a little bit colder up to the 1,200 meters, and she'll go bang. The fact she gets him on 55 kilos is just a godsend, given she's one of the best horses in the race. And Arkansas Kid, he's not going quite as well as he was once upon a time. However, the heavy track just brings him right into play. So around $4, $3, $80, and $9 are backing both.
Speaker 8Mickey Gannon? Yeah, she just ticks all the boxes, doesn't she? Skybird, rain-affected track, Flemington, 1,200 meters. I think she's one of the easiest bets you can have. Best bet on the card, Dino?
Speaker 10Yep. I've got a line of three, very well-suited. The weights, like Benny mentioned, loves the straight, loves 1,200 meters. And it's funny to reference that Moyer. It's hard to reference as a form one, but I think 3.3 lengths often isn't bad at all. Second up goes well, and on top for me, G.
Speaker 3All right, then. Let's have a quick look at the last race at Flemington. And we've got a horse that just loves a heavy track here at the top of the market, Zach.
Speaker 9Yep. And it's a relatively quiet betting race, to be fair. 10 commandments, 460, 550 with a boost if you're logged in, which is a pretty good boost there. A couple that they've backed, though, is Just Folk, amenable, and chips in, also 10 commandments.
Speaker 11All right, then, Benny? He's got to be a bet, doesn't he? 10 commandments, he's just absolutely flying. $5.50 with a bet boost. He won on a dry track for the first time last time around. He now gets his wet track. Draws beautifully in barrier three. Two good roughies. Kotat Lantique was awesome last time around behind Welcome to the Show. $13, wet track, no problems. Just Folk, 17 back to 14 is some issue, but he has to go on the quaddie simply because he's a, you know, he's a good guy.
Speaker 3All right, then, Mickey?
Speaker 8Yeah, if it's a heavy nine and the rain is still falling, then Just Folk, for sure, definitely goes in. And 10 commandments is the horse that you could probably back now because I'd imagine that he'll start shorter, Dino.
Speaker 10Yep, wait and see for this race for me. I just think if we run tomorrow, 10 commandments wins the race. But if, say, we transfer to a Monday and it gets a bit better, I think it brings a couple of other horses. So 10 commandments on top as long as it's a heavy deck, boys.
Speaker 3All right, then we're going to take a break and we're going to come back with our best bets at Flemington next.
Speaker 6Have you ever wondered how movements start? I'm Ashley C. Ford, host of Into the Mix, a Ben & Jerry's podcast about joy and justice. This season, we're talking to unexpected progressive heroes who found purpose in unexpected places. People like Marley Diaz, making sure every kid sees themselves in books. Kyle Mesteth, a native skateboarder building a movement for kids nationwide. Joy Aladakun, whose music moves from protests to daily commute. Find out how they started something bigger than themselves and listen wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 3All right, Ben, this is the weekend preview. Thanks to Macca's, Saki Tunbridge, Benny Caluzzi, Nicky Gannon and Dean Watling with me, as always, on a Friday. Best bets at Flemington. It's a terrific support program. We've got the. We've got the. Superimposed for the three-year-olds. And there's a filly going around there. It's a lead-up race to the Classics during Cup Week. We've got the Manifold Stakes as well. Race 5 is the Rose of Kingston Stakes, which is a lead-up race to an Empire Rose. And then race 6 is the Danehill Stakes that I want to touch on too, because this is one of the most anticipated races all weekend, Benny Caluzzi. But before I get your opinion on this, Saki Tunbridge, what's the market doing?
Speaker 9Yep, Natural Fling in the next episode. They are the only two ones they are backing. Natural Fling, what is it? $2.40 now. Next episode's at $3.40. And then you've got sixes for Overexcited. I guess we want Natural Fling to win for old Tony G, right? Yeah, well, I don't know about that, because I'm on the next episode.
Speaker 3Tony G's got enough money. He does. Trust him. Better East, like this. She's a big chance, of course, Benny, but who do you like?
Speaker 11She's a big chance, of course she is. She was a little bit short to me. I backed the next episode at a bigger price early. I think he was a bit of a grey-up, because his first couple of trials, and Synergy, they were horrible, weren't they? And then he improved. So I'm banking on him coming back and having his fitness right. We saw what he did to Natural Fling the last time they met.
Speaker 8All right, then. Mickey Gannon? Interesting to see how Natural Fling comes through the moyer. Obviously a bit of a litmus test for it, and it was a pretty good run. So I think she's definitely deserved a favourite. Not Overexcited's a horse that's over the odds. Second time down the Flemington Strait can improve significantly. I'm happy to take on the horse that has the big spruik. It's had four jump-out trials, the next episode. Just want to see him do it.
Speaker 10Dino? Yeah, I didn't know why Stretton Ruler was $35 in this race, boys. I thought you referenced that two-year-old form. You watched that jump-out the other day. Watched 100 minutes past the post, and this horse is in front of all those Natural Fling. Also, next episode, NM Boubet. So I thought $35 and around $7 a play, Stretton Ruler in a tricky, tricky race was ridiculous odds. Outside of that, I'd like to see Natural Fling bounce back at $2. $2.30 around that price is probably too short. We'll start off with you, Dino. Kick-off G, my best bet, race one, number four, Silent Intent in the two-year-old race. Ran similar time to Natural Fling in those trials. Finds the rail in run. We know in two-year-old races down the Strait, that is a massive tick. So race one, number four, Silent Intent. Outside of that, Aliana G, really keen on her.
Speaker 8Mickey Gannon? Race four, number five, Portonari gets a chance over the mile. Keen. Race five, number four, Silent Intent. Race five, number seven, Gold Coast Bell. I love a bit of rain affected going. And race nine, number 15, Skybird.
Speaker 11Yep. Race five, number seven, Gold Coast Bell for me. Getting back onto a wet track. $2.10 SP last time. You forgive it. You also have to have something small on Olle Dancer finally getting to $1,400 in that race. Race number eight, Sir Delius. Very, very keen. And then race nine, Skybird and Arkansas Kid.
Speaker 3And the man who's dominating the Give Us a Spell podcast, Zach Tunbridge. What's your best bet?
Speaker 9At Flemington? I like Gold Coast Bell. Anywhere. I like Gold Coast Bell as well. I think you can still get 360 with a boost and I don't mind Skybird too. So two of them. I've got 10 commandments, especially if it runs tomorrow. And you can get 550.
Speaker 3Yes, please. And score is the best each way. Play all the time. Price is? Race three. 15 now. Yeah, because of the scratching. Yeah, ignore that. Yeah. Hey, Gareth, can Dano change his bedroom light? The flashing light is putting me to sleep. That's from Peter. Reese. I think this is one of the most. Yeah, one of the most. I think he's a rising star in the training ranks. Pocket full of cash. Give it a chance tomorrow, Mickey.
Speaker 8Well, Reese, he just texted me. He reckons that his horse was the one going past Natural Fling in the jump out. There you go. He's keen. Yeah, the horse has got ability. Reese has been spruiking it for months. So it needs to improve. But a lot of these probably need to improve to be competitive. It was very good work against Natural Fling the other day.
Speaker 11I think it's slightly over the odds at $23 anyway.
Speaker 3Dano watching the wrong horse, if you think Stratton Ruler was running past Natural Fling past that line in that jump out. That's from Reese. Gents, I promise not to annoy you again. I'm a loyal listener. Please give me one reason why you think Eliana is highly rated. It won't even finish in the top five tomorrow. That's from Sammy from Greenvale.
Speaker 8I just don't know what to say.
Speaker 3No. Was the top four model just taken down and tried to get on?
Speaker 9Yeah, so there's been a couple of scratchings. If there is scratchings, it'll go down for a minute. It is back up. You're still getting $12.90. That'll go down in price. To probably $11 something in the next 10 minutes or whenever we finish. But it'll just go down when there's a scratching.
Speaker 3Yeah. Dano tipping Eliana. What a shock.
Speaker 8Does everyone forget like the Ranvet where Eliana beats Sir Delius by a length? She's genuinely a good horse. Do these people just not watch Sydney Racing?
Speaker 3If Eliana doesn't win tomorrow, I can't see her turning the tables on Sir Delius. Eliana better than very elegant. Is that a joke? Surely. Did you say that? Yeah, yeah. Hey, gents, would you love your thoughts on the Breeders' Plates? What are you thinking here, Dano?
Speaker 10Yeah, well, gee, the Bjorn Baker train, non-news, the favourite. But the Breeders' Plates have been dominated the last 10 years by horses off rails, off speed, getting in the middle part of the track. And that tends to be how the rail produces this track. I'm against it. I think it's too short. I think Capitano is the winner of the race. And I think he could probably save on Stasis down at the bottom of the page. What else? And Botts. That's the way I read it. I think Capitano gets back off rails and goes bang down the middle of the track, gee.
Speaker 3Guys, I think Savvy Halley is a maddie in the Premier. She is the forgotten horse and Drawn Gate 5 will be on the pace. Just can't back Tempted at the price from Barry 11. That's from Brett from Bull Creek. I said this before. She runs in the top three. She'll be in the Everest representing Mulberry for sure.
Speaker 9Yeah, that's fair. Back her three bucks to run top four. It's not bad. It's probably better than if you don't want to back Tempted.
Speaker 3I can't believe we missed the price last week. $18 last time. Am I banned on the text line? Giddy up. It's the most loyal listener. My text messages get left. behind like Bangkok Hottie this weekend. Well, if you text like that, you'll get on. Yeah, big chance. Friday, fill up, please, boys.
Speaker 8Yeah, someone's asked for a few for beer. He's got a couple down at Maria. So I gave him a call and he'd be surprised if they get through more than one race down there. So all the weather's heading in that direction. He did say that Coco Dior was a good thing and that comes up in race number seven. Very keen, but it's been off the map. I think some $3 into $1.90.
Speaker 11Friday, fill up for you, Benny. Let's go cash out. Race seven, pack, and then we can bounce back.
Speaker 8All right, then.
Speaker 10Dino? Nothing for me today, G. I had one at Maria, but it's been scratched. So we'll wait and see tomorrow.
Speaker 9There's a good go at Dubbo. Race four, number one. Boy, oh boy. It's $2.50, Wendy Peel. Oh, boy. Yeah, that'll do us.
Speaker 3Beer Baker, 17 winners, last 50 runners at 34%, Dino. Morning, G. Favourite Maldi scored today at Maria. Can you ask? We've already asked that question. Being a tradie, you very rarely see three days of rain in a row. Bring it on. We can start it early for the boys. Question for the panel. I put in a lot of stock in track patterns. Is it my imagination or has track patterns been all over the place last autumn? So far this spring, Melbourne and Sydney. And if so, why?
Speaker 8We talk about it a lot more. I think it's existed forever.
Speaker 11Yeah, it has existed forever. The tracks in Melbourne, you've got Sandown, Caulfield and Flamington. And they are all so different. Yeah. So you go to one, rails out, you know, fences off. You go to the next one, it's fence on fire.
Speaker 3Why don't they put covers? Well, it'd take them 10 years to put the covers on. And take them off. And then take them off.
Speaker 11Someone said they should run the Turnbull at Marvel.
Speaker 3Yeah. Hi, G, man. What have I missed? They owe my bet to be refunded from Cranbourne. It's being transferred to Pakenham. So that's the reason why. You mean the rampart where they jog for 1,200 metres? So, Dillian. No, I'm not going to. No, read it all out. It's great. No, he's going to fire you up, Mickey, because you don't really like feedback like that. You get really upset. He doesn't, does he, Dean?
Speaker 8I just don't like stupidity, Gareth. No, it makes me feel uncomfortable.
Speaker 3It's just someone's opinion and I feel awkward. I feel like I'm in between.
Speaker 8No, that's cute. No, I appreciate that, 859. I'd hate to be your wife, because she'd argue and say,
Speaker 3that's not how you put the Vegemite on the toast. The what? The Vegemite on the toast. No, I don't argue. I don't argue at home.
Speaker 8I just like educated opinions. Yeah. Look, that tankard. It was a good win. They did go pretty quick in that race. So I don't know. Like you can, we can cherry pick all we like. Yeah. It's okay to have an opinion if you disagree. You do you. That's fine. Yeah. The good news is, as Gator will say, we get to find out.
Speaker 3We do. Yeah. That's why it's such a beautiful game, isn't it, Benny? Hey, Dino, my opinion on that, Mo, it's just getting on, it's getting better. Some people will disagree with me. Thank you, G. Some people will agree with me, but looking forward to that interview with Brave Pride. He's a brave man to be interviewed by you.
Speaker 10Yes, G. Any questions, boys? I might bring up, I'm going to hope to bring up the social media account there on Twitter and try to get Joe back on the socials because he's very, very good at it, G. When do we get the blinkers on?
Speaker 3Ask him if Giddy Up is his favorite show. Ask him, did Johnny O'Neill actually pay up his bet? Because they said that. Millions. Yeah. No, I think he did. He gave you $500. I don't know. Was it to Noble or something? Yeah. Dino, can you ask him
Speaker 11if Chale might be coming back down to Melbourne for the Champions Mile? Cox Plate. Cox Plate, please. Cox Plate. But isn't he on the one-week backup?
Speaker 3Surely. Blinker's on. Trial Guy says they have covers in the UK, mate. They're mostly deployed for the jumps in winter when it's frosty or snowing. There you go.
Speaker 8You could do the covers.
Speaker 3We've run out of time. It's 10.44. How's that weekend preview top four multi going?
Speaker 9Yep. Flying. Still there. It'll go down. Brayden keeps asking me if this is the longest show or what because he wants to wind in the price. But $12.90 now for the next couple of minutes. And then obviously we've got the NRL Grand Final for us. Oh, yes. Who? Where are the Chooks? The Knights will win. We don't want the Chooks. The last thing we want. Gareth, please. No. So in terms of- We can start now. Hold is 60-40. 60-2 the Roosters. If Gano is a Roosters fan, there's not many of them out there. I think the rest of Australia- What are the odds? There'll be three of us. The rest of Australia are going to be all over the Knights. We are $2.90, $1.42, Lions 7.5. There you go. Should be a cracker. It'll be unbelievable if the Knights win. 75,000 people are there.
Speaker 83,000 Roosters fans. All wearing red and blue.
Speaker 3Last from first, basically. Pongo will get the Clive Churchill medal.
Speaker 9Let's hope so. Yeah. Gareth, you've lost it. Pongo, 650, Clive.
Speaker 3Mate, I've been part of three premierships with the Manly Seagulls back in the day. I know what-
Speaker 9I'm a Manly boy at heart, too.
Speaker 8Yeah. Snakey and I. How do you even get Manly involved in this conversation? I'm just telling you. We have to bring up 08. Add Fosball, though.
Speaker 9I ignore that.
Speaker 3Fosball's okay. Yeah, he's good. He's only had two months. Fosball. Settle down, Dean. Anyway, thanks for that, boys. We're running out of time. Miles Fitzner and Mickey Gaddon tomorrow morning on- On Giddy Up Saturday on 7 plus, 7.2 from 9.30.
Speaker 8Yeah, I look forward to discussing Aliana. That'll be good. Yeah, that should be a lot of fun. Yeah, we'll get back to Sydney, the Savo. Yep. Is there a text line for that show, Gunner? Yeah, 0- What's your number? 0- Dean Watling, yep.
Speaker 3Yeah. I can't believe you never got on, Dean. Thanks for that, boys. Have a great week. Yeah, I missed the invite, too. Hey, Dean, betsy.com.au. We can get all of your full analysis, that interview with Brave Pride on those platforms in your city. We've got a whole set of tips as well. You can do, G, thank you. Yep, you're doing a wonderful job at betsy.com.au. Thank you, Dean. Have a great day. Good on you, Mickey. Thanks, boys. Thank you, G. Thanks, guys. Good on you, Ben. We're still morphing. Yes. We're going to continue on Giddy Up straight after this.

But it's going to be a big show on winners tomorrow. And then race car, Nick Quinn will join me in the studio from 11 o'clock. So looking forward to that. We're going to have a lot of fun on race car. Now, Grace Hayes has done the form for that Cranberry meeting tonight, but she's had to reassess, like all of the tipsters have, with that meeting being transferred to the Packham Synthetic. Host of scratchings, different surface, different ballgame. So, yeah, so Grace hasn't finalized her tips just yet. At Maria today, Luke Ovenessian likes race five, number six, Think I Do. Race seven, number three, Silverwater Kid. Race five, number two, Forwarding. And race eight, number five, Fire and Stone. So five, six, seven, three. And then at Dubbo, race five, number two, and race eight, number five. Rebecca Hill on the Sunshine Coast tonight likes Inder Mouse. Race one, number two, is her best bet. And her next best is Taravia. Race two, number one. So race one, number two, race two, number one. Chris Camilleri at Racing.com at Maria likes race one, number one, Hellfighter. And race two, number five, Star of Lily. So race one, number one, race two, number five. Matt Reid, Launceston. His best bet comes up in race five, horse one, Fuel on the Fire. So that's Fuel on the Fire. And his next best is The Value, which is race six, number two, Night People. Race five, number one, race six, number two. Darren Carroll at Melton. You can head to thetrots.com.au for expert harness racing tips and in-depth analysis for all major Victorian meetings. Race six, number four, Chinsky. And the value bet each way is race four, number 10, Maximum Rock. So two, three, race nine, number nine, the best value. Or race 10, number one. And the best value is race four, number 10. So that's the tips there from Glenn Moore. Keith Pope will be joining me in the studio next to go through his best on Murray Bridge Cup Day.
Speaker 2Text us on 0400973. Welcome back to Giddy Up,
Speaker 3Gareth Hall with you on this Friday morning. Always great to catch up with our great mate, the one and the only, Heath Pope, who's live in the studio. He's arrived in Melbourne, hasn't stopped raining. G'day, Popey. Good morning, Gareth. How have you been, mate?
Speaker 14Yeah, mate, good. Top of the world.
Speaker 3Now, before we get your tips, of course, for the racing in South Australia, you are a man that loves his form. He's been in the game for punting and doing your form for how long?
Speaker 14these days oh mate too long basically uh yeah when i was 16 yeah so i shouldn't be saying that but um yeah now 55 so now
Speaker 3you've developed a website um and with the ai with him with ai you've been able to develop a program called sectional edge so you've got your own website tell us all about that and what do you hope to achieve mate
Speaker 14we're on the very verge yeah it's very very close but so it
Speaker 3hasn't launched yet
Speaker 14it's not far off we've put up tomorrow's form however um it's more at the moment i'd recommend people just to have a a browser the site yeah um with that rain that's really yeah yeah so i did all uh sydney and melbourne where i'm gonna the aim is to have adelaide as well obviously and um basically eventually races that are requested by everyone
Speaker 3so so what's it all about sectional edge what how can it how will it help the punters we've got a
Speaker 14careful how we say that but um um how it is i i'm a real sectional times nerd yeah so i really i break down every race and i'm i'm making calculations on trying to figure out the where the pressure is going to be um starting in races and um what i'm finding is horses that perform best against the race shape and um then create a rating for that horse and then going forward i've got a number
Speaker 3of um commercial
Speaker 14databases yeah and also just uh free stuff um the triple s data you can get from all the different sites uh with the sectional data it's all free yeah um but it's i do use other um numbers as well to generate a ground-based rating and then go from there
Speaker 3because you've been big on ai so has this come about as well where you put all of your knowledge over all these years into this your ai program and then it's been able to help you develop this
Speaker 14product absolutely um just to research everything first but i i think i think the biggest positive out of what i've been doing with ai is to create a model that uh it calculates every single horse consistently displaying no emotion and i think that is the massive massive positive like how the horse goes over the line oh didn't do the form for that horse because i didn't think it would win but it's it's so straight away it's consistently um um rating every single horse but with no emotion i think that's i think that's honestly a big positive i'd
Speaker 3be buggered because i love punting because of all the emotion that comes with it and it's been my downfall there's no doubt about that yeah 100 i'd back every day of the week um but that's the key to it like it'll teach you and and obviously um um people who attack their punting differently but um obviously it's worked for you over years and it's exciting mate i can see i can see when you've talked to talk to me about it mate it's been a a lot of work put into this and it's nearly ready
Speaker 14to go i'm really excited yeah so section alleged is the website um we're very close it's um my beautiful partner page has been amazing she's done all this for me so um i'm i'm blessed and i'm really i'm really excited about it yeah yeah hey we're
Speaker 3going to take a break it's quickly approaching murray bridge cup day hopefully we can find a few winners value um and you got some value there at murray bridge which we love so we'll take a break and we'll come back with heath pope and his selections at murray bridge next join the conversation text us on 0499
Speaker 2736 736 live across australia this is giddy up with gareth hall
Speaker 3welcome back to giddy up heath pope is with me it's going to be a busy final hour it's been a big three hours we had the hunter's edge with mark hunter we got an update with that flemington track with liam o'keefe so that 55 mils uh yesterday there's five to ten mils predicted today there's rain tomorrow so we'll cross our fingers and toes that um the rain doesn't come as predicted tomorrow and we get to see that meeting go ahead there at flemington but i i from the vrc in racing victoria if there is too much rain tomorrow um the weekend preview team are in fine form zacky tunbridge spenny kaluzi mickey gannon and dean wallet what are dean watling previewing that meeting at ran week tomorrow with the epson the highlight there they've got the fight stakes in the metrop as well um and now we're about to go through all of our other tipsters here ahead of a big weekend of racing right across the country heath pope's with me we're previewing that murray bridge cup meeting terry lason and peter anthonis will preview the cup day nick ashman with his best scotty amore the jump out king extraordinaire andro tool dean evans um and then we've got david miles with that geelong cup meeting and jane ivel as well with her new zealand best bet so it's a busy show coming your way uh heath pote's with me popey what are we expecting at murray bridge tomorrow
Speaker 14well they've had some rain yeah gareth um so it's and it's also another it's a weather watch too because apparently there's more rain okay predicted rail three meters um predicting horses to be getting away from the fence mate so don't be turned off by the wide drawers where
Speaker 3do we start with your specials then
Speaker 14mate this is a really tough meeting so i'm mainly going for each way value here um we're going to start off in race three number 11 mesrua now um this horse has come up double figure odds uh it's first up goes really well first up gareth uh five starts three seconds and a third uh three seconds and a third uh three seconds and a third so it's each way profile is enormous now it's also loves murray bridge two three placings from five starts as well mate so yeah i just think also dropping in grade to a benchmark 64 uh down in the weights uh first up last campaign this is this is the horse that was storming home behind um regal deluxe its form has been enormous so i honestly i think this is a six dollar chance mate so i think we're getting double
Speaker 3figures yeah we're getting around 12 with bet 365 race three number 11 mesrua what else have you got for us
Speaker 14popey more each way value mate so let's go to race six number one philip promise now i honestly i can't believe the odds of this horse this is the horse that last started it gave its rivals uh it gave them nothing like it led all the way it won easily never look like an Indian but um now it's the start before that had plenty of excuses uh run two starts back was also really really good for this it was caught wide throughout um now also if the rain does come this horse has a heavy track record of five from five so uh i just can't believe the odds here we i've got it rated a six dollar fifty chance beautiful
Speaker 3so it's nineteen dollars with bet 365 philip promise race six number one and what else have you got popey more value here
Speaker 14mate now in race seven i think number 12 light the night i i think this is a um this is a really promising type we've um we have mentioned this horse on the review show a couple of times now uh the best thing about this horse is that it's a really promising type and it's a really promising thing about this horse is that it's a really promising thing about this horse is that it's a really big thing here is tempo there's genuine tempo in this race now even though it's it's uh stepping up in class this is borderline black type race um this is way down in the weights uh gets i i just can't go past it 51 kilos murray bridge just all the all the stars line up mate um i've also got this rated a six dollar fifty chance
Speaker 3okay so that's lighter night race seven number 12 and the final of your specials okay we're
Speaker 14going to go to race nine now i was with you guys this horse last start teardrop rotation number five um now i tipped it last start over a shorter trip against tougher company now over 1400 meters this is this is its right trip um and again that i can't believe how the market has overreacted to that that last run was only beaten a bit over a length mate so uh i i think murray bridge again seven dollars i believe it should its price is uh big respect for final countdown it's also been it's attracted really good early support but teardrop rotation is your clear each way value play so
Speaker 3race three number 11 race six number one race seven number 12 and teardrop rotation race nine number five we're getting 15 for that galloper popey love your work it's going to be a great day thanks for coming in the studio mace um and that there's a there's heaps of text messages coming through on the garrett's text line that website will be up you'll let us know
Speaker 14mate it's people can have a look at it now oh is it online it's online now you're just gonna have to don't google it you're gonna have to type in www.sectionaledge one word yeah oneword.com.au um so we you can't just google it at the moment that's how new we are but um yeah there's all the information there just explaining a lot of things um there's a demo sheet of what it's going to sort of look like um but it's it's close
Speaker 3we're very close beautiful mate we wish you the best of this weekend your beautiful wife and then um we'll catch up with you um next week in fact i'll catch up with you tomorrow on winners okay mate thank you popey there's heath pope there they're good on you mate thanks for coming in thanks to racing sa linker moore joins us now g'day link gareth how are you mate good thank you mate how do we back a winner there at murray bridge with you it looks
Speaker 15at very uh competitive meeting i think the club would be right with uh the field that they've uh landed for cup day i'm pretty keen on uh shadowbar and sprint the class mayor from the at Murray Bridge in one of the Magic Munions. I just thought from that wide gate, she'd be extraordinary. Extremely hard to beat, bringing that really strong Victorian form. Obviously won the listed regal role two runs back and then was fourth in that court of stakes last time. I think from that gate, you'll be able to sort of just roll forward and be handy, probably doesn't have to lead, and I think she's the best horse in the race. So race seven, number three, Shadowbar's my best.
Speaker 3Yep, next best, mate.
Speaker 15Yeah, we're going to go in the cup, St. Lawrence. We had Gavin Bedgegood on Frontrunner podcast yesterday talking about St. Lawrence. I think this horse, again, brings just the right form here, obviously coming off a two-length win over Zara, but Flemington last draws a good gate. Noel Callow, I'm putting a bit of pressure on Noel. He's riding Shadowbar and St. Lawrence, but I think St. Lawrence, especially when you could get an each-way price, was a real bet in this cup. It's a few of its fancied, or the fancied runners drawn out wide. I think he'll get a good run. It's just a matter of not getting too far back, but I'm sure they'll be pretty forward in the run if they can, and I think it's a horse to beat. And then I've got a bit of the value play in the last, clashing with what Popey's value on with Dirty Old Town, the horse from the Andrew Gwilstable. She bounced back over 1,400. And Morfaville last start on the park, speeding Shady Finker. I just thought she was a crazy price, $11 for a horse that's won her only start this track and trip. She's a real winner, this horse. And, yeah, I think she's going as well as ever, so I'm happy to have something on Dirty Old Town at the double-figure price race, nine, number three.
Speaker 3Beautiful, mate. Good luck tomorrow. Thanks for your time, Lincoln. Cheers, mate. There's Lincoln Moore. It's seven minutes past 11. We'll take a break. We'll preview the big meeting in the west at Kalgoorlie tomorrow afternoon with Terry Layton and Peter Anthonis. It is time for Country Quarter. Thanks to CRV with the face of country racing in this day, Joshie McGuinness. G'day, Josh.
Speaker 16Definitely. Not the face of country racing, that's for sure, G. The boy from the Mallee. It's great to be here and a big weekend. A couple of country cups. Now, that's the big question.
Speaker 3I'll ask the tough questions to kick off proceedings because everybody wants to know, will they be racing at Matau and Gumbau tomorrow?
Speaker 16Yeah, I mean, we're confident. Fingers crossed, obviously. We don't want too much rain over the next 24 hours, but the team, or the teams both at Gumbau and Matau, they do a wonderful job and, yeah, we're heading up to Gumbau tomorrow. So, looking forward to a great day and, yeah, they just do it so well.
Speaker 3They do a great job, don't they, that race club at Gumbau, and they've got it all right. The community get right behind the race club, but there's good people that run that race club.
Speaker 16No, absolutely. And they were the winners of the country racing event of the year as well, last year. This is a town of about 500 people. They're going to get four or 5,000 in the house at the races tomorrow and to Vicki and the team who do an incredible job. They've got everything set up. It's such a wonderful day. As you mentioned, Gareth, the community get right behind it and it's going to be a terrific day on course.
Speaker 3Yeah, Station One won the Gumbau Cup last year.
Speaker 16He did, the first of his four for the year, and he'll be back maybe in the summer and autumn period, Station One, but a nice field assembled. It's going to be headlined by Shea with Liv Osborne, who we will chat to you about. Not too shortly, but always a great day at Gumbau to get involved with the local community there. And they travel from far and wide. It's a bit of a party there.
Speaker 3I think Liam Howley pointed out last year, he couldn't just, he couldn't believe how popular that Gumbau Cup meeting was and the atmosphere was electric. So hopefully Liv Osborne can live that type of atmosphere and also some joy there of winning a Gumbau Cup because Shea will be one of the horses to beat. Liv Osborne joins us here. Liv, hello to you. Thanks for your time.
Speaker 17Hey boys, how are you?
Speaker 3Are you hoping for the rain to stop there for Shea or you wouldn't mind a little bit of rain there tomorrow?
Speaker 17I don't think we'd mind a little bit of rain. He hasn't run on a heavy track, but I definitely don't think he wants a good three. So if I'm going to have to pick one, I'd definitely prefer it probably to go heavy than to a good three.
Speaker 16No, and fingers crossed, Liv, as well. Shea, this is a horse that's performed well in town. And you acquired the horse about 12 months ago. How's he faring? A couple of runs back from a spell. He was good in the Golden Nugget last start. How do we assess his chances tomorrow?
Speaker 17Yeah, he was. He was really good. I was fortunate enough to be next to Trent Busseton-Young at Ballarat and I got to speak to Natalie and she really liked the look of him. And it was interesting talking to her because he was quite nasty in a box. And obviously they live in stables with them. Well, we have him outside in the yard and he's a completely different horse. He loves his work. He loves coming in. You know, we have no issues catching him and he's enjoying it. So we've sort of seen that in his couple of runs this time in. We've just been getting his fitness up. So we'll step up again to the 1,800. Yeah, I think it'll really suit him. We probably need 2,000 eventually with him. But, you know, I'm quite happy with how he is.
Speaker 16Great to hear and good luck with him tomorrow. You've got a few runners at Gumball. Yeah, and across the weekend as well. Any winners amongst that lot?
Speaker 17Yeah, look, I think if Shayar can handle the tight track, I think he'll be pretty hard to beat. That'll be his only issue, that he does have most of his form on bigger tracks. But Dashing Donkey's also, he's in the last and he's been running really honest. And I think if we can get him a bit of luck and set on tempo, I think he can also run a nice race. But he's just got to get out and get moving. No sprint. So if they get trapped in on him, he's a bit hard to finish off. But they leave it a bit late. So hopefully Mitch on him tomorrow can get the pace rolling a little bit earlier than what he has been the last couple of starts. And he should be pretty hard to beat too in the last.
Speaker 3And how's everything going with your team there at Benalla Live?
Speaker 17Yeah, really good. I've been having a little bit of success the last few weeks. We had a nice three-year-old win on debut. A few weeks back. And yeah, I had a nice winner in a Benchmark 82 at Leighton. She'll go around on Sundat Bendigo and another nice maidener as well. We'll go around on Sundat Bendigo that should hopefully have his chance. So the team's going really well, which I think puts a bit more confidence into Shea R in the Cup. When the whole team's going well, it usually means you can be a little bit more confident that you're going to run a nice race.
Speaker 3Yeah, it's a good meeting at Bendigo. Brilliant bull ants. And also pretty penguin representing your stable. A couple of nice horses, but with brilliant names as well, Liv. So you've done a great job there.
Speaker 17Yeah, yeah. The family loves the naming.
Speaker 3Yeah, they've done a sensational job.
Speaker 17Yeah, good question. I honestly think I'd have a little dabble on Shea. I'm really keen to see him, you know, be one of the weakest races that he's been in. The winner of the Nugget, it's gone to a 14 listed tomorrow at Flemington. And we've gone to the Gumbauer Cup. And so I think the competition there will be a lot less when you think we only got beaten 3.6. So, yeah, I think that's where I'd be putting my money.
Speaker 3Ten Commandments is the horse you're talking about. It'll be hard to beat. Well supported there at Flemington tomorrow. And then you've got Changing Colours form lines as well for a Gumbauer Cup. So you're going to be mighty hard to beat. You go and get them, Liv. Enjoy Gumbauer Cup. Enjoy Gumbauer tomorrow.
Speaker 17Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 3There we go. And it's going to be a great day. Josh, it's not just Gumbauer, Matoa Cup as well. And so, as we mentioned last week, now 26 consecutive weeks, is it, with Country Cups in Victoria?
Speaker 16Yeah, over the course of the three months of spring, there's 25 Cups to go. We kicked off a cold rain last week. So across all corners of the state, G, there's something for everyone. Matoa Cup day tomorrow as well. We'll give it a little bit of a push from Trent Busset and Natalie Young last night for the Doctor of Love in the Matoa Cup. So watch that space there. But no, a wonderful time of year. Matoa do an incredible job as well. And good luck to them tomorrow. There's also Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Series Heat, where the first two across the line will qualify for the half million dollar race on Oaks Day. So it's nice racing at Matoa today. And yeah, we can't wait for a huge weekend ahead as we're right in the thick of spring now on the country circuit.
Speaker 3How do we get our tickets for Gumbauer?
Speaker 16Well, yeah, for all your country racing tickets, head to country.racing.com. There's still tickets available for both meetings this weekend, about 20 bucks. And if you're looking for a weekend away to get out of the rain and enjoy the best of the country atmosphere, you could do worse than head up to Gumbauer or Matoa.
Speaker 3You go and get them, Josh. You enjoy Gumbauer.
Speaker 16Good on you, G.
Speaker 3There's Josh McGuinness there from CRV. That's Country Corner. We'll find you some winners at Kalgoorlie straight after this with Terry Layton and Peter Anthonis. It's a big weekend on the gold fields in Western Australia. It's Golden Saddle Day and Kalgoorlie Cup Day. It was a terrific day yesterday with the running of the Hannans. And Terry Layton and Peter Anthonis join me now. I think everyone's just. So I'm pleased that Terri Leighton's alive after his weekend in Melbourne. Hello to you, Terry.
Speaker 12How are you?
Speaker 3I'm very well.
Speaker 12How are you? I can hear Pete laughing in the background, I reckon. I'm recovering. I'm recovering. It was a fair old campaign. I did the old five one-day backups in a row. So I sent a few Ryan Hill runners to do the 24-hour backup, but we decided to do it five days in a row. So didn't see you, didn't see Pete, didn't see Miles, didn't see anyone I was meant to see. I don't think I reached out to anyone. Melbourne just got a hold of me. I had a wonderful time. We can see.
Speaker 3We can see.
Speaker 12It was an enjoyable experience. But it means no Calgoorlie Cup for me this weekend, which is a bit of a shame because it's a cool little round now. They've got the Golden Saddle on as well.
Speaker 3Yeah. What did you make of Hannon's Day yesterday, Pete?
Speaker 18It was a really competitive day as we sort of threw in the pre. Look, a few opportunities. If you got your eye in and a few little market moves there late in the last couple of minutes as well, could have been a handbag in the last, I think, open 30s and jumped best part of 550. So it's what we enjoy about the account.
Speaker 3Yeah. All right, then. Calgoorlie Cup day tomorrow. Opportunistic 250. Part of rides for Mickey Grantham in the Cerise and White. The jest is suddenly getting forward. $15, Lillian $6, Gingerbaker $13, All Grunt $13. Could you have a bet here, Terry?
Speaker 12Yeah, I could. I'm looking a bit away from the top end of the market. First of all, I feel like the Jester Sun deserves favouritism over Opportunistic. I think Opportunistic had every chance last start. I know it towed Jester Sun into the race, but the Jester Sun were so strong late on the line. So it's just one of those horses I think. Opportunistic is one I wish I owned, but I think it just goes around a bit under the odds every start. If I was backing one of those two, it would be the Jester Sun. But my third favourite in the race is Karamundi. Not the horse I thought I'd find going into to do the race, but I marked him sort of a $7 third favourite. We're getting $17. If he gets clear air when the other two did in the Boulder Cup, he probably goes pretty close to winning it. So his last win was in a 2300 metre Pinjarra Cup. This is a pretty similar level. The two times Braden Gayeth has ridden him this prep, it probably means two best runs. I think he's going to win this time as well. He's found the line really nicely. So the thing you want with this horse is clear air down Charles or just before Charles, just after Charles Street at Kalgoorlie. Famous Charles Street. And basically just give him every chance to wind up into it. So I think he's well over the odds at $17.
Speaker 3So that's the way I'm going to go each way. All right, then. What are you thinking here, Pete?
Speaker 18I don't really have too much of an opinion versus the market, Jay. I don't think opportunistic should be the short. I'm with Terry there. Look, even going back through some of his 2000 metre plus runs over the last year or two, I'm not even convinced he actually stays properly. So I'm looking at the other opportunities here. The Jester Sun obviously is the obvious, but I don't think there's any great price there. Lillian, I could imagine actually starting a lot shorter. We saw last time out that horse is just back relentlessly and probably ended up towing both the Jester Sun and opportunistic. Maybe she just needed that one more start as well to get to a peak fitness, but she's clearly got the best staying figures in this race. So, I don't have a great opinion to be honest versus the market, but I can't have the favourite this short, I'll put it that way.
Speaker 3All right, then Terry, what about the Golden Saddle? Immortal Bliss is $2 with Bet365.
Speaker 12Oh, look, I think it's your most likely winner, Immortal Bliss. It's the horse I probably would most want to be on, but at $2, $1.90, that's getting bare bones. We saw in the Hannans and you sort of, it's funny when the Hannans, a lot of people are tipping fast flicker. It's the one I had favourite as well. I didn't really get stuck in yesterday, I was still recovering, Gareth. But you just see in these races, horses can get spat out a little bit. I'm a bit wary from Barrier 6 about a horse getting spat out at that price. So, I don't know, it's my tip for you, Immortal Bliss. But the market shape, as Pete would say, is basically as I've found, that Cessation has to be second favourite with its wait for age form, what it did to Joey and what it's just done over a period of time. But Lord Shearer, not sort of wait for age horse, but it's been carrying weight and running time. So, when you come to sprints like this, you've just got to run the same time you have been with the same weight. And those times have been going closer to winning these types of races. So, look, if I was having a bet at the current prices, and I'm not even going to back this horse myself, Lord Shearer is the only one that I could consider at $7.58. But I do think Immortal Bliss is your likely winner. It's just too short for me.
Speaker 3All right then, Pete.
Speaker 18Yeah, I'm definitely having a bet on Cessation. I've got this horse. It's marked $2,500 in this. And I love the trial. I love the performance.
Speaker 3We might have lost you there, Pete. We might fix up that line and see if we can get you on the phone. But I know Pete was keen on Cessation there yesterday at $6. So, I wonder if he still has that opinion as well. But what price would you need to back Cessation there, Terry?
Speaker 12Well, I'm $5.20. So, it's above my odds. I just, I feel like, Gareth, sometimes we need to be honest with ourselves. And I reckon I did a bit of this form with a bit of a cloudy head. So, I'm not exactly backing any unless they're considerably well above my price. But I'm sort of $3 Immortal Bliss, $5.20 Cessation and $6 Lord Shearer. So, I think Cessation's a better chance of winning than Lord Shearer. I just, I'm looking purely on percentage of overs there with the Lord Shearer tip. But I get exactly where Pete's coming from. Trials were great. It's clearly been set for this. The two trials were there. It'll probably tow Lord Shearer everywhere it goes. It's proven at this type of level. So, I would not be surprised if there is a fair bit of money. There's obviously going to be money in Immortal Bliss. But I think there'll be some good money Cessation as well, purely on its racing pattern.
Speaker 3Pete, you're with Cessation. He was with Cessation. We might have some, we'll get him on. He won't be far away, Pete. You there, Pete? It's working beautifully. You know what? I'll take a break and we'll come back and we'll see if we can get Pete Anthonis on the line. Straight after this, this is Giddy Up on a Friday morning. All thanks to Bet365. Pete Anthonis is back, ready to go.
Speaker 18G'day, Pistol. G'day, Gareth. G'day, Gareth. Apologies about the internet. We're already. We're already here in Metro Melbourne, so. Yeah, yeah. You know, one cloud in the sky and the whole thing collapses.
Speaker 3What about Cessation? You're keen on that galloper there in the golden saddle?
Speaker 18Yeah, look, I just love the mat for this horse. I don't think there's a great deal of speed. I think she and Lord Sheva are the obvious two on pace. And if they get the tempo right, I just think they're going to be really difficult to run down. I could see there being a few horses in between them and the favourite Immortal Bliss. So every chance they can just pinch a few cheap sectionals early and skip away into the turn. So I'll be playing Cessation. Lord Sheva have got basically about the price. One a little bit more than what's on offer at the moment. And I'll have something of my old mate Rizal's G, just with the inside gate. Just hopefully, just looking for pinching runs through the inside. I don't know getting away from the fence here on Thursday, but I think the inside's probably going to be a little bit firmer there on Saturday. That's my main result in the race.
Speaker 3All right, mate. What about your best bets there at Kalgoorlie there tomorrow afternoon? I'll start with you, Pete, and then go to Terry.
Speaker 18Race three, number five, Hedderwood. Just love the. Barrier switch here for this horse. Outside, last time, first up off the freshen. It gets a really nice switch in a race where it should just be able to toeball science degree there out in front. But race three, number five, Hedderwood. That's the way I'll be going for the best on the day.
Speaker 12Terry? Race number one, I really like Decoration here. I think they can maybe lead. I think Fifth Essence has been looking to sit all preparation. So from Barrier One, they can sit on Fifth Essence. Decoration leads, loves Kalgoorlie, carries weight. Well, I just think it's going super, and I thought it was a $2.50 chance, and we get the $3.30. So I think that's your best bet on the cards. Karamundi each way, and the Kalgoorlie Cup, as we've touched on, that $15-plus mark. I think it should be half that on its last performance and its last effort at $2,300 as well. And in the last, I want to have two bets. I want to bet King of the Town as sort of the main play. I think they can be aggressive, land one, one-ish type here. I know it got beaten by a battler first. But it sat in the breeze with 60.5. It was a really strong effort considering, and I think the horse has a fair bit of upside. It's the way you win it, Kal. You get to the one-one, you get going on the turn, and you make those back markers have to chase you. So pretty keen King of the Town. And I want to have something on more than enough, horse number two at around the $15 mark. It's a Kalgoorlie Specialist. There should be a three-wide line here, and I just think it's over the odds at that price. Its last run was far better than it reads on paper. So King of the Town main result, but number two more than enough. You won't be losing on it either.
Speaker 3You're always enough for us, Terry. We appreciate your time as always. Have a great day. Recover well, and good on you, Pete. Cheers, guys. Pete Anthonis and Terry Alayton there. We've got Darwin tomorrow and Alice Springs on Sunday. NT Thoroughbred Racing. It's simply the best racing entertainment in the territory. Andrew O'Toole joins us.
Speaker 19G'day, Andrew. Morning, Gareth.
Speaker 3Where do we start with your plays, mate?
Speaker 19In the first tomorrow, I thought number 40 Gallerie is going well enough to be very hard. to meet here for Paul Shires, who trains and rides. Paul was back in the winner's circle last week. week and uh this horse uh it gives you another good chance to add to his uh telly of wins this year so race one number four t galleria uh if we then go to a race uh race two number one bruno bruno tayan holter for stan sacos uh and bruno bruno two seconds he's last two knocking on the door this doesn't look as strong what and i think he'll be back in winning form race two number one bruno bruno and then in the uh major sprint of the day or the major race of the day race four number one field of flutes another horse with um very good form the last couple of the runs have been second placings behind genetic freak and the very much in form wild bow and of course this horse ran six in the palmerston uh and i think it'll be hard to beat here race four number one field of flutes for clark and todd
Speaker 3beautiful what about it alice anything
Speaker 19there sunday uh you best of the day race two number one you'll point uh did really good job during the carnival here in darwin and uh just looks a class above these so race two number one
Speaker 3we'll hear you tomorrow afternoon with the boys on sen track looking forward to that tool man thanks for that
Speaker 19good good on you mate thank you
Speaker 3there's andro tool there thanks to winning edge investments.com professional betting education tips and ratings so you can treat your betting like an investment dean evans he's been in fine form he had war woven and jimmy star was a complete nutter fill up for the dean evans followers there he's had one hell of a spring so far and he joins us again dino well done brother congratulations it's been some stuff to the spring yeah not
Speaker 20a bad little 50 to one double there or woven the profiling really sort of found him as a standout and the race ran as expected great ride rachel king and he was ultra impressive he looks a really really good colt and jimmy star simply ran up to his trials ridden cold day from brown the right way and just
Speaker 3showed him what he could do yep um so yeah that's um was a big big day for your followers let's hope that can continue can continue there on saturday um we've got a couple of races that we want to have a look at and we'll see you there on saturday we'll start off with the breeders plate race two at ramwick for the two-year-olds all on the boo of course nonu's at 210 captiano at 320 flying houdini's at 550 here the rest are at double figures who do you like here
Speaker 20yeah look capitano settled last and his uh kensington trolley flew home for second beating the nose his last 600 was plus 5.7 uh last 200 1.7 lengths above the day m friedman zach lloyd combo uh we've taken a bit of the price this morning and he really looks the one to beat uh don't look at two two horse race nonu is a pretty impressive colt beyond stable is absolutely flying and he ran plus 2.8 last 600 and was pretty impressive in his win as well but uh the way this race usually profiles that it's that really strong finisher and so uh i'm keen on capitano to to topple nonu here
Speaker 3in the breeders plate yeah so capitano the three-year-old philly striking alibi 260 with bet 365 the other race that we're going to have a look at here in sydney's race six and this is the flight stakes the group one for the three-year-old philly striking alibi 260 with bet 365 global gold three dollars bangkok hottie 320 and then queens gamble at 13 to armis is a 13 chance as well
Speaker 20yeah look this looks striking alibis race she uh she was the she beat revengeance who was a million dollar golden gift winner um in her first prep for walla here she was just really unlucky third first up in the furious and then desperately unlucky second in the t-rows last start she's stuck on the fence she got shuffled back to last held up in the straight uh clearly should have won she can actually lead here or take a trial behind the leader she doesn't have to be ridden back she sat outside the leader on a good tempo to win on debut in wa over 1200 looks like it'll be a really softly run mile uh rest of took about nine dollars about her and futures a couple of weeks ago um so hoping she can get the job done tomorrow but i do think she's going to run the strongest mile here it'll be a soft mile i think she'll ultimately end up being more of a 1200 1400 meter horse but i think against these she should be able to put them away the mcdonald walla combo is a pretty good record in this race and uh i think she'll just be too good for them on
Speaker 3saturday so striking alibi there for dean evans in the group one flight stakes we go to flemington we'll preview now with you the dane hill stakes you like one here we bet 365 the philly natural flings the favorite at 250 the next episode at three dollars he's been the best back this cult um so he's had some good backing in the last 24 hours especially overexcited 650 and burbay 11 big sky 13 pocket full of cash at 23 and bugsy at 26 doubt time at 31 yeah look like like
Speaker 20the next episode here first couple of years he's been an extraordinary and well documented but uh his trial at crambon uh behind jimmy star he sort of got back he was two to three lengths off jimmy star obviously won the group one manicato for us very impressively last week he's only about one and a quarter lengths off him at the finish uh he's pretty well restrained and he just looked really really strong in that trial the next episode and then uh it was really restrained and then 800 meter jumped out behind natural fling was just held tightly he's run on soft and heavy before won a million dollar national classic uh last but i think they've got him right now the next episode the wet track's really going to suit him obviously natural flings are the philly that we've followed she's very fast um i just wonder whether on you know it will bog track tomorrow uh that's going to take the sting out of her sort of natural speed and i think it will suit more horse that can just get covered and cuddled up and rattle home and that's the next episode or i think it'll be the one uh storming i am over the top of it so
Speaker 3that's race six number three the next episode i like the for the cult and then what i love about you dino when you're on fire like you are a friday fill up for us punters here for giddy up and we're going to dubbo race four today and um i'm looking forward to seeing which one you like here with bet three six
Speaker 20five yeah the debutant here good boy oh boy you want to narrow mine 800 meter trial by 3.3 lengths that was 2.8 lengths above standard there looks to have really good ability it's not a pretty weak double maiden here and i thought this might be a nice opportunity to start the weekend off right at around 2.50 with boy oh boy
Speaker 3winning on debut so boy oh boy race four number one there at dubbo a lot of text messages coming through good on you dean i love your work um do you have a tip for us however in the epson well just a hard
Speaker 20race yeah um really hard race that you know i think just such a high quality race autumn boys flying well-written flying they're two high quality uh horses idle flies going well attic as well at the weights uh perfumist is a mare that's just absolutely flying at the trials with vector and futures to win the big dance and she's looking pretty good for that she's down the way from mr bill is a really high quality horse so uh to be honest i reckon one of those six win i know it's not too very helpful but i just can't find a real big edge in the market in that race i just think uh i think there's six high quality horses they're all flying and that could all win uh the epson just looking forward to to watching it and um yeah it's a really good race one of the better epsons you've had for quite a long time
Speaker 3i get this question asked a lot when you come on how does dean analyze the international form trying to identify some value in the cup markets yeah um we've
Speaker 20certainly had a lot of luck in the caulfield cup back in uh back in the imports from a long time ago um i usually do a do a podcast with luke moral who's yeah he's very very good um i think he's the best in australia by a long way in terms of identifying the from the chaff in terms of the the imports but you know it only comes down to um where they're being targeted you know some are some are more having a prep run for the melbourne cup some are more ideally suited for it um it's a bit tighter these days you know and sort of over the last decade used to get really good odds about them and when they were uh certain to be running and profiling as the right types for the race um it was easy to get good odds the bookies are a lot tighter now with a few inches markets but uh the big difference between the caulfield cup and the melbourne cup is the ones right at the top of the weights and the caulfield cup a really good record whereas in the melbourne cup it's um it's pretty difficult for them at the top of the weight so uh you know it's um it's an interesting one but uh i will be doing a uh a detailed webinar next week with luke moral actually okay so if anybody wants to hop on the winning edge and and we'll send that out uh by email on our youtube as well for winning edge and we'll be going into detail and we'll see you in a bit um we'll see you in a bit um we'll see you in a bit um and we'll see you in a bit um and we'll see you in a bit um and we'll see you in a bit um and we'll see you in a bit um
Speaker 3yeah and they've got a couple of key runners australian bloodstock um with the melbourne cup favorite at the moment defiantly um yeah well
Speaker 20supremacy flying and um yeah uh and they've got um their other import as well that wine dark sea pretty wine dark sea pretty keen on as well but i'll be getting all of all the until early next week beautiful
Speaker 3mate we appreciate your time as always if we want to jump on the bandwagon for winning edge investments um how do we do that yeah
Speaker 20let's pop to winning edge investments.com we've got a special with some bonus time for trial spy this week the promo codes trial spy spring get a bonus week for a monthly bonus month recordly a bonus six months for a yearly october is usually the most profitable month for the trial spy the last three years an 40 units profit for the month. each October for the last three years. Speaker 3Love your work, mate. Thanks for your time as always. We'll catch up with you next week. Cheers, Gareth. Thanks, mate. There's Dean Evans from Winning Edge Investments. Time for a break. On the other side of it, we'll catch up with Scotty Amor, the Jump Out King extraordinaire. Let's welcome in Scotty Amor, the Jump Out King extraordinaire on this Friday here on Giddy Up. G'day, Scotty boy.
Speaker 21Hiya, Gareth. How are you, mate?
Speaker 3Hi, mate. I am excited. Can't wait for this weekend. Where do we start with your specials?
Speaker 21We'll go. We'll go to Flemington, the Gull Guy Race 9 Skybird. I love her getting onto a wet track here. I thought it was a good run in the moor. She's so well-weighted in this race. And, yeah, the last time she was down the Flemington straight, she won the lightning. So, yeah, I think she'll be winning Skybird.
Speaker 3There you go. Skybird on a heavy track there at Flemington down the straight. What else are you liking there this weekend?
Speaker 21Scotty? I'll go on to Ramwick Race 4 Wonka. I was really impressed with his last start win. And this black-tie race, it's not that much harder, in my opinion, than what he's been running against. Jay McCollum for Chris Waller. And he's a schnitzel. So, if I get any rain, normally they can handle a bit of cut in the track. And I think he'll be winning as well.
Speaker 3Beautiful. Charlie. Chocolate Factory would have been one of your favorite movies, I reckon, Scotty.
Speaker 21Yeah, it was. And I don't mind a good piece of chocolate after I have a winning day. So, it'll tie in well.
Speaker 3Anything else, brother?
Speaker 21Murray Bridge. We're going to Murray Bridge. Race 6, Kenny Moss. I liked her when she was in Victoria with Alex Ray. And she was okay first start. And then she went down to South Australia. And she blew away a maiden field. Second start in SA. And I think she maps to get a really good run. And I think she'll be winning Race 6.
Speaker 3You sound confident. What happens when we back your horse to Scotty Amor?
Speaker 21When you're back with the king, you wear all the bling.
Speaker 3Just go to the Jump Out King Extraordinaire to get all of your tips, especially on your Instagram page, especially on a Sunday.
Speaker 21Yeah, mate. Last Sunday, yeah, it was pretty good. I tipped out Jimmy Starr on here for you and your followers. And, yeah, we didn't have too bad a day. So, yeah, we'll definitely be having a good look at Bendigo this Sunday and seeing what's there.
Speaker 3Go the Knights. Are you with the Knights or the Roosters?
Speaker 21I would love the Knights to win. I'm going to be at the game. So, I'm really looking forward to being there. And, yeah, I'm a believer now. I'm a believer in the Knights. So, yeah, hopefully they can get the prize.
Speaker 3They tell me a few of the Knights boys are big fans of you here on Giddy Up. So, there you go. You should be a believer. Scotty, so you go and get them, mate.
Speaker 21Okay. Well, that's good to know. Yeah, a few of the North Queensland Cowboys follow me. And, yeah, a couple of the Warriors. So, yeah, the league boys. They're really good guys. And, yeah, hopefully the Knights can get the cash on Sunday. And it would be awesome for Newcastle. And it would be a great story if they did win. If I make a movie about it one day, I think.
Speaker 3They're going to make a movie about you. You keep on dominating. Scotty, thanks for that.
Speaker 21Cool. Thanks, Gav. Hey, you and your listeners, have a great weekend, mate.
Speaker 3You too, mate. Thanks for that. That's Scotty Amor, the Jump Out King extraordinaire. Speaking of extraordinary. We've got some great individuals. David Miles joins us. He trains and drives the superstar trotter, Rocking With Attitude, who is the short prize favourite in the Geelong Trotting Cup there tomorrow night. And he's with us now. G'day, David. Great to have you on Giddy Up, mate. Morning, G. Thanks for having me, brother. We haven't seen Rocking With Attitude in a standing start since Redwood Day when she was a two-year-old.
Speaker 22Yeah, we've raised that from our memory. It probably wasn't a great day for us. She wound up outside the leader. Yeah. Went to go out the gate and knocked us over. And it probably cost us winning the group one, which was unfortunate. The late, great Greg Sugars drove the leader, didn't he? He did, and he felt sick after the race. He was very gracious. He came and spoke to the owners and apologised. But it was just one of those rare racing moments that you don't see too often.
Speaker 3Yeah. And she was a bit unlucky, I reckon, throughout. The Kiwi driver took you on one night as well, didn't he?
Speaker 22Well, we look back on it now, G, and she ran a lead time that night in 42.9 at Melton for a two-year-old trotting filly. And I think now if you had a free-for-all fast-class race, paces race, on a Saturday night and they went 42.9, well, you know, Dan would be jumping out of the box. So she still ran second that day. It was a huge performance.
Speaker 3Was it Nathan Williamson? I think I keep on reminding him. One of the worst drives ever to be seen at Melton that night. Yeah. And they're usually not that.
Speaker 22It might have been Nathan.
Speaker 3I haven't raised that one. I haven't raised that one from the memory. What about tomorrow, mate? Is there any. Should there be any concerns for the punters taking $1.30 about her from a stand?
Speaker 22Not from the stand. The stand's no problem. The handicap's probably the biggest issue. You know, Imperial Monarch was really good last week first up, and he's a proven stand-start horse. And Antonov off the front, although he's up in class, he's proven that he really likes the long trips and can get rolling. So, you know, 30 metres. 30 metres is always an issue, and it's not to be sneezed at. But I've got no fears with the stand.
Speaker 3Is she better out rolling in front, or do you reckon you can drive her with one run at them?
Speaker 22No, she can be driven with one run. She's one from in front or behind. That doesn't bother her. It's just at her advantage with her gait speed. She's always on the lure. And there's no quicker horse off the arm in Australia than her. So why not use your advantage all the time while you can? But, no. If she can win from out the back, there's no reason why she can't win from behind.
Speaker 3She's been a wonderful mare. And as you pointed out, she's been up since her two-year-old season. And she runs some big races as a juvenile. But she's been able to go on with it.
Speaker 22Yeah, longevity has been awesome. We obviously missed a year of racing in the middle where she had a little fracture in a bone in her knee. But other than that, you know, she's won group one races at two, three, four, and now six. So, you know, she's actually bigger and stronger now than she's ever been. So we're really happy with her progress since coming home from Queensland. And I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks here, but really looking forward to getting to New Zealand.
Speaker 3And you've got to make the most of it with the Lee runners. Obviously, a few of their star trotters have had a setback. And there's an opportunity to cash in, I reckon, at the moment, with the trotting ranks in Victoria and even if you go to New Zealand.
Speaker 22Yeah, well, she's proven that she's up to, most of the best ones. But, you know, Zahara, Susan is her name's now retired. Locomotive, I think he's back in work, but whether he gets back or not, he's had a few issues. And Pete and Chantelle have done a fantastic job with Gus. He's the measuring stick at the moment. So, you know, I'm not sure how many of us are going to New Zealand and the Aussies. I think at this stage, it might be just Gus and I. So, and I think we'll give it a fright, that's for sure.
Speaker 3That is exciting, mate. You've done a wonderful job with her and I can't wait to see what she can do for this preparation. Outside of her, have you got a winner for us, Battlers?
Speaker 22Have I got a winner for you? No, we're pretty quiet this week. She's our only runner for the week. So, to be honest, I know she's short odds. But, you know, I think, yeah, no, sorry, G, that's all I've got for you, mate.
Speaker 3We might play Swayze into her. We'll take the value with Swayze, with Grimmson, driving him over Minos. And good on Lucky Cookie. Gets a great drive on the odds on favourite there in that Geelong Pacing Cup.
Speaker 22It's a great race. I'll tell you, the horse that I looked at and the price was over the odds was, you betcha, Tiger Pie. I think, you know, Mick's done a great job with him. And he's, you know, he's been to Perth and he's come back. And I think if he follows Swayze, I think he's, you know, he's a real chance of, you know, getting over the top of them late.
Speaker 3He's a knockout, but usually Grimmson's the one setting the pace. But I don't know if he'll take himself on. It'd be interesting to see how he drives Swayze, because he needs to be up in the firing line. So, yeah, I find that intriguing there in the Geelong Pacing Cup tomorrow.
Speaker 22Well, that's the issue, whether he goes late. And if he does go late, even from the 1,000 or the 1,200, you betcha Tiger Pie can probably follow him and get a nice cut into the race. But if he goes early, it'll make it hard for Mick's horse. And, you know, Minos is great, but, you know, there's going to be a bit of gate speed underneath him. He's going to have to do a bit to get there. You know, Bulletproof Boy will definitely hand up, but New Shuffle might not want to let Bulletproof Boy go too easy. So the first 400 will be interesting to see how he does. it plays out.
Speaker 3Good on you, mate. Good luck tomorrow. And yeah, good luck with the superstar man. Thanks, Jay. Appreciate it. There's David Miles there. Today's wrap for Lillydale Instant Lawn, Australian family owned, quality turf delivered on time. Every time our roots run deep. Paulie Sebastiani has had a wonderful, wonderful week and you can wake up with New Zealand racing, kick your day off with a Kiwi bet. You've done your New Zealand show, Paul, with Jane Ivel. Yes, indeed. And what have you found for us?
Speaker 13So she's got three selections, two at Matamata and one at Hawara. The two at Matamata, race two, number one, Shambo Jack. So that's race two, number one, Shambo Jack. And her first four numbers for that race are one, eight, two, and 10. So one, eight, two, and 10 for race two at Matamata. And then she goes over to race number three. It's another maiden event. She's with number nine, Judy's Smarties. So race three, number nine at Matamata, Judy's Smarties, and her first four numbers for that event are nine, four, eight, and 10. And then her one and only play at Hawara is in race number two. It's a 64 event over the mile. She's with number four, Maloney, who gets the blinkers going on. So it's race two, number four at Hawara, and her first four numbers there are four, five, two, and three. Would you like me to recap those for you again,
Speaker 3Race two, number one, race three, number nine at Matamata. And what was the other one? Hawara? Hawara. Yeah, race two, number four, Maloney. Hey, we can see you there on the TV screens of racing.com, but the great Adam White's behind you. I don't know where he's been, but Whitey, great friend of ours here on Giddy Up. He'll be, I don't know, what's the captain's run on after this? What do you got today,
Speaker 13Whitey? On 11.16. Dwayne's World. He's doing Dwayne's World. He's Dwayne for the day. I don't know.
Speaker 3Dwayne's World on Friday. Yes. It's sort of like here on Giddy Up, you text, you get read out. If you call, you get on. Exactly right. What's your best over the weekend,
Speaker 13I was umming and ahhing between Sir Dallius and Aliana, and I've gone with Sir Dallius. I think he's going to map ahead of Aliana in the run. I'll push forward from that middle to White Alley, and he will be very, very hard to beat with Craig Williams in the saddle, should they run tomorrow, Gareth. And then in the last race at Flemington, Ten Commandments will be very hard to beat as well. The wet track gun for the Kieran Marr stable, who is going very, very well off a very nice last start win. So those are the two plays for Flemington this weekend. What about, what about the NRL?
Speaker 3NRL, I'm with the Knights. Mainly with my heart, but I think that there's a side with momentum. I think they're going to be hard to beat. And Mark Hunter's just text through, Flemington would be a soft seven currently in magnificent, magnificent condition. Just depends on what happens in the morning, I guess, with that rain. But at the moment it's, um, it's had that rain and it's handled it beautifully. So, um, yeah, we just hope that there's not too much rain there tomorrow.
Speaker 13In a bit of a hold at the moment, aren't we? We had Liam O'Keefe earlier on the Hunter's Edge. And if you want to go, go back and listen to, to that interview with Liam, you can go back on Apple or Spotify, giddy up with Gareth Hall, Hunter's Edge, and you'll find it. Good on you, mate.
