Speaker 5yeah no he had he had speed of a sprinter but he had stamina to stay you know so they just don't make him or build him like him anymore like he's to be able to spring him out of the gates switch him off over 10 furlongs and then ask him to go again and you look back like oh I've had the chance look back and now it's all said and done it's like some of those races that he won like they didn't give it to him easy at times and you know he had to he had to lift off the canvas in a cocks plate he had to fight like a tiger in a Hong Kong cup when there's four challenges no he took on all Japanese's best and that could throw at him at the time and you can only beat what's in front of you and he did that and yeah he was so tactically savage like he could just put himself into a spot each and every time but that's why he had no excuses and that's why he was so good because he never made an excuse for himself was there
Speaker 3one moment where you would go back and tell Caitlin and go I don't know about this Hong Kong horse like there's something special about him when did you realise that he was different
Speaker 5um to be fair when I got the call to ride him for the first time I thought it was a bit of a joke like you don't really get a call up to ride a horse like that but as good as him um I was lucky to win both races on him and then obviously um Karis got back on him for a couple of races and he bumped into the champ of uh golden 60 and then I ended up back on him and never looked back but um he was pretty special after the first time I rode him he won I think he won the first Hong Kong cup by about four or five lengths on him so no he was remarkable and like hence why I was so adamant he would make a great race uh Cox Plate awesome was able to well Peter was ambitious enough to bring him so credit to Peter and Danny to do it but he was he was just the perfect weight for a horse could carry weight big strong he was he was a brute unbelievable
Speaker 3that Cox Plate it was some build up were you like we didn't see him at his best that day I know you were trading him I know he was trading him but he he he found a way like he he had no right really to win that

Speaker 7Well, that's the question, isn't it? He's obviously seems to be the sort of horse that, um, tends to be a bit better once he's had a run and he's thousand metre record. He hasn't had the best of luck. He's always probably got a bit too far back or circumstances as to why he hasn't been able to sort of get the job done. But I think Sandown's a big, big kick for him. I think the big track will really suit him. And, um, if we do get a bit of rain as well, um, is it predicted? Um, it brings him right into it.
Speaker 3Talking to my trial expert. Experts, they tell me he's come back a lot sharper. Would they be right?
Speaker 7Yeah, he does seem to be sharp this time around. Yeah. He's both, both his trials have been really good. He obviously went, went to Corfield for his first one and just had a quiet trial. He looked quite good in that. And he looked very sharp the other day in a Sandown jump out. So look, he seems like he's in really good order. He's ready to go. Um, obviously the intriguing, um, part of the race is obviously the three-year-old Philly, natural fling, she gets the weight relief and she looks, uh, looks at, she could be a star on the rise. So, um, you know, he's obviously the horse that's been there and done it, but, uh, like I say, he's in great order and, um, yeah, he's going to be hard enough to beat.
Speaker 3Is this one of the best preps you've had with him?
Speaker 7Yeah, look, he obviously had a really good spring last time, two runs, the two wins, um, obviously first up in the Scalacci and then onto the champion sprint. And look, I think he's in really good order. He's going as well as he was 12 months ago. And, um, I think, you know, he's proven that he does luck. Um, to get his toe in a little bit and, um, hopefully we can sort of get that on Saturday.
Speaker 3So what's the perfect track for him? Would it, would it mind you if it was heavy, even though he'll be first up, if the rain does come?
Speaker 7No, yeah, I wouldn't think it would be any problem, um, in that sense. I think, um, you know, any more, any, you know, I'd just say probably a six plus would be sort of to his, to his advantage. And, um, he's in really good order. Um, I think it looks to Matt pretty well for him and looks to be a lot of speed on paper. And especially it's made it a bit more intriguing with the favorite draw on the outside gate. So, um, yeah, look, he's in great order. We know that he, he brings his best all, all the time and every time he goes to the race, he's very competitive. So I'm sure he'll do me proud again.
Speaker 3Um, Manukato after this?
Speaker 7Yeah, at this stage, just how he comes through Saturday, but sort of three weeks, um, into the Manukato 1200, which will be very suitable for the second up. And, um, yeah, where we go after that, we'll sort of work things out, but, um, they're probably his first two runs at this stage.
Speaker 3I'm hearing Mr. Munns is pretty keen maybe to get back to an Everest. Do you share his, um, do you share his thoughts there?
Speaker 7Yeah, look, I'd love to, you know, he's had two runs in the Everest for a win and a head second. So he's obviously, he loves the Ram with 1200 and he's got a pretty good record with obviously a couple of placings in the TJ and, um, he really enjoys the high pressure races. So, um, you know, it'd be great to say that he's had three runs in an Everest, especially now he's seven and, um, look, his body's in really good order. So, um, you know, as long as he stays in good form, hopefully he can sort of look to get a slot.
Speaker 3All right then. So that's Gigi Kick in the Moyer Stakes. Final moment, I guess the wetter, the better for her as well.
Speaker 7Yeah, that's going to be the key with her as well. If we get a wet to heavy track, um, she'll be right up to her neck. If it's on the drier side, I might even take her out and just wait with her. But, um, yeah, the key with her, and I've sort of seen that in the last few weeks, I've seen that in the last few weeks. Yeah, I've seen that in the last few weeks. Yeah, I've seen that in the last few weeks. Last few runs, especially at Sandown, when she's got on the, on the rain affected track, she's been at her best. So if we do get the rain affected track, especially with the weight pools, gets him with a 51 and a half, um, she'll be a good, good, good little chance at a price.
Speaker 3Yeah, pretty baby. She's a promising filly there from South Australia. She's the favorite in the Atlantic Jewel, but I can't believe the price for your filly leopard shark. Like if you forgive her the other day, and obviously you can tell us, was there something wrong with her? Because she was brilliant first up, I thought.
Speaker 7Yeah, look, um, she was great behind, um, Graham Begg's filly up the straight first up, and she's a winner at Sandown over 1300. I don't know if she really appreciated the Heath track there the other day. She actually, she was probably a touch more forward. She just began well and put herself in that spot and wanted to over-travel a touch with the blinkers on. So, um, a couple of gear changes this week, third up out to the 1300. I think it's really suitable on a big track like Sandown. I think she's well overs and, um, yeah, I definitely, I'd be giving her a really good push Saturday. Especially, she's probably one that does appreciate a bit of giving the ground as well.
Speaker 3So that $46, that'll do us, I reckon. Yeah, I don't mind that. Yeah, beautiful. And then we go to the last race, or race number nine. Um, and you'll be sending around Title Fighter. Should we put Title Fighter in our quatties to knock everyone out, Clayton?
Speaker 7Yeah, maybe do a same race multi or one of those. Yes. Put him in the first five or something. You might get a nice price with him. But, um, no, he was a really good run. He tied him out to the 1400. For the first time at Corsair, last time out, and he hit the line quite good. So he's, he's had a three week break between runs back to the 1300 on a big track like Sandown. And he worked really well during the week. So, um, you know, he's, yeah, like I say, he needs to step up, um, from what he's done. But, um, hopefully if they go along a bit, he can be hitting the line strong enough.
Speaker 3If I gave you a hundred dollars, what would you do with it this weekend?
Speaker 7I'd have it on Giga Kick.

Speaker 7Um, yeah, I've got the, the Mornington Marvel going around. Yeah. Uh, Zamperini Spirit. He's won a heap, heap of races there and he's leading the, the challenge at the moment. He's first up over the thousand. Um, he's trialed really sharp this preparation. I think he's a, he's a good each way bet at a price.

These weather conditions are not helping us punters out at all because there's rain predicted Friday and rain on race day. So who knows what track we'll be working with come Saturday afternoon. Trent Busseton joins us here on Giddy Up for Giddy Up Stable Mail. Hello to you, Trent. Gareth, how are you, mate? I am well. Um, you got some good chances in the first race. Signetti, first of all, that was impressive at sail. Can you go on with it now?
Speaker 8I think so. I think ultimately probably gets out over further. Later on in the spring. But I think he's progressive. Um, yeah, so I think it looks a nice race for him. Sort of all similar horses, I guess, when they're made in or similar form. But yeah, it looks a nice race for him.
Speaker 3And Ko Pong Yarn, um, also goes around. He got through on one there the other day, um, in his two year old season. How has he trained on since that effort over the 1800?
Speaker 8Yeah, good. He just did sort of 10 day freshen up and they've been ticking him over. Um, he didn't beat much. They're a pretty ordinary bunch of buddies. He probably should have won one or two before that. So outside that race, even if he runs up to some of the, you know, sums up some of his other runs, he can certainly be involved in this race. I think the market's got them each way. And I think that's what he is. If he come out and won, it would be no surprise.
Speaker 3Okay. So he could beat the favorite, you reckon?
Speaker 8Uh, yeah, he's going well. He's happy, working good. So. He's, he's certainly gone there thinking he can run top three and, um, yeah, well, if either of them wins, I'll be happy.
Speaker 3Yeah. Over the thousand, the benchmark 88, Trey Magnifique, she is back at the races. Are you happy with her?
Speaker 8Yeah, super. She's had a couple of good, solid trials. Um, uh, she's been going through the grades nicely, still does plenty wrong. We're just hoping the sort of more she's, um, more racing she gets into it, the more she sort of the manners get better and, and she's certainly trialing up nicely. So again, the market as they're as favorite, and hopefully the market's got it right.
Speaker 3She's an, I'm invincible man. She's one on a slow track. So what's her best surface?
Speaker 8I don't, I don't think it matters. She, she broke her maiden and she's run well on firm tracks in the spring. And, um, she's trialed up a very, very heavy conditions here at cramping and, and get through it. Good. So if they handle a cramp and jump out heavy track, they'll get through most things. So. So just did her racing pattern. I prefer a firm track. So more. than likely she leads or she's going to be second and, you know, you'd rather them have a sort of rail corner to follow, but that's out of our control, but at least we know it won't worry her, whatever she gets.
Speaker 3How's your three-year-old by ace high in blind race come back after that Queensland campaign that didn't go to plan?
Speaker 8Yeah, good, really good. He had a month up there in Queensland and then straight back into work. He's come back good. He's trawled up good, just the one trial. We were initially going to give him a couple of trials and start with Mike Moroney, but obviously with the McKenzie jumping out the 1500 this year at Sandown, I thought it was a nice race for him, so a couple of nice ones to beat. The Freeman horse looks very progressive, but we'd be certainly very disappointed if he's not fighting out the finish, albeit he's going to naturally improve and look to get out over further later on, but he's sharp enough and forward enough to be hard to beat.
Speaker 3All right then, what's his main aim?
Speaker 8In a perfect world, he's obviously going to do it first up and second up, but Caulfield Guineas in the spring champion stakes.
Speaker 3All right, beautiful. That is a good campaign for this horse, so it'll be exciting to see what he can do. You've got two chances at a price there in race seven, the So You Think stakes and New Look in immediacy. Your thoughts there?
Speaker 8No, both will need to run, just get fit, sort of, to get out over a trip, so certainly I don't think they'll be involved in the finish. If they can be hitting the line strong, we'll be happy.
Speaker 3Any love for the doctor? The doctor of love?
Speaker 8Yeah, he's just had a minor throat issue where he was displacing his palate, and he's had that corrected, hopefully, so he looked good as a three-year-old and hasn't carried the form over, and we're hoping that was what was wrong with him, but he's... He's working good enough. Again, it's sort of, well, short of his best, but hoping he can be hitting the line and trying to find some form back out over a further trip later on.
Speaker 3El Tisero, do you take El Tisero to Adelaide?
Speaker 8Yep, yeah. He's been knocking on the door. He hasn't done much wrong this campaign. He was unlucky not to win last start. He was three and four deep face in the breeze without cover last start at Sandown and stuck on good, so it, again, on paper, it looks a nice race for him, and he certainly should go over there and be very hard to beat.
Speaker 3If I gave you $100, what are you doing with it this weekend, Trent?
Speaker 8I'd go Cignetti and the Blind Rays and the Multi.

Speaker 3How did Brightside pull up?
Speaker 9Outstanding, actually. He was bucking his brands off in the day paddock yesterday, so he'll tighten up nicely for that effort and bring on the mile.
Speaker 3Look out. Now, what about Hydro Bomb in the first race at Sandown over the 1,500 metres? Were you happy with his first up effort on a heavy track the other day?
Speaker 9Look, it was only just a pass, Mark, so we've done a little bit of a gear change to try get him to recapture some of his late two-year-old form, and hopefully we see that gear change have the desired effect.
Speaker 3Beast mode. Plenty of pace in this 1,000-metre race as you would expect. You thought about his chances and an each-way price in the third.
Speaker 9I'd love to see him get a good track. Look, he's in good form, but he does need conditions to suit, and there does look like to be a lot of pace, but he is the fastest. He'd be struggling to lead beast mode, but look, he's got it up against him a little bit with the big weight, but Blake Sheen on board, hopefully we're able to get across, dictate, kick hard, and hopefully the rain stays away a little bit.
Speaker 3Cruiserweight's harder to catch, it's the new these days, but we get to see him at the races on Saturday.
Speaker 9Hopefully, hopefully. Take three, third time lucky. Yeah.
Speaker 3Are you happy with him?
Speaker 9Very happy, very happy, and it hasn't altered his program too much either. Like, he had a nice tick-over jump out, a couple of nice gallops now, and the 1,300 metres, I think, should suit barrier one, Ethan Brown. Hopefully he's able to get, utilise that barrier and be strong weight.
Speaker 3Because that's what interests me sometimes, and these animals, they're athletes, they're not motorcars, and you train them for particular races. If they're racing on a Saturday, you prepare them to have a run, and they can only go for so long in a preparation. So that is good to hear, that it really hasn't impacted the way that you've been able to train him, and he seems to be coping with it all.
Speaker 9Yeah, he's done extremely well between runs now too, which wasn't by design, but he's put on some nice weight, and hopefully that means we're going to get a little bit deeper into spring.
Speaker 3They're backing Romantic Encounter here. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 9In the same race. He'll improve a lot second up. His run, he just was a little bit fresh and above himself, so he's had the work stepped into him, and hopefully we see a much more professionally behaved horse, especially before the race.
Speaker 3Poor Nari. This looks a lovely race for her in the Atlantic Jewel, race five, horse 10.
Speaker 9Yeah, she was eye-catching last start. Unfortunately, we didn't get the barrier. I don't think we would have beat the winner, who's a favourite for the group one, but definitely cost her a place. She was eye-catching last start. Eye-catching, 1,300 all suit, and a little gear change with the blinkers on, finally got a good barrier. I think she'll be hard to beat. Torture? She's been going okay. We've put the blinkers on. She trawled super in the blinkers. 1,300 all suit marks are on board. She'll run better than what I would suggest.
Speaker 3Can Eurocano win?
Speaker 9He needs to improve this horse, but he definitely can. He definitely can. The 1,000 might have been a bit short, and now he's a little bit older, but yeah. Yeah, it's going to be very interesting. He's big odds, so if you're a Eurocanto fan, you don't have to invest too much, but me personally, I'm watching and hoping that he is a bit more genuine in the way that he goes about things.
Speaker 3Usually when I back Eurocanto these days, my money evaporates, but I'll have something on him again. What about evaporate in the Soviet big stakes? He looks tough to beat.
Speaker 9Yes, and he's very short priced, and I think deservingly so. He's very good at sand down. Think he'll be winning.
Speaker 3Is he a Sir Rupert Clark? Stakes horse for you?
Speaker 9Possibly, and then possibly a two rack as well, where we went oh so close last start, and then maybe onto a five diamonds.
Speaker 3He's here to shock, so big price first up.
Speaker 9Big price, and he's had the coins and some on his back, because obviously we went up to Rockhampton and failed, but he was a beneficiary of staying up that way for a while, came back, prepped up well. His trials have been good. I think he's an each way play, especially if the track is playing a little bit later.
Speaker 3You got some chances in Melbourne and Sydney, Sneaky Sunrise and the Pendragon, but they're both nominated for sand down and also Randwick. Where do they go?
Speaker 9Sneaky will go to Randwick. The Pendragon we probably won't go around this weekend, and give him another trial and try to hit the golden nugget, and Tuft of Mars, his trial's been good. Blink is on, I think, is the key. He'll go forward, and he could be one to include in first fours at big odds.
Speaker 3If I gave you $100, JD, what would you do with it this weekend?
Speaker 9I would be putting it on Portonari.

Speaker 9Well, he's come on enormous for the first up run. We're going to have to go to the Open 1700, which will be a hotly contested field. Hopefully, we get a run, but he'll get it on the minimum, and I think he'll be absolutely flying late. I couldn't talk you out of investing a few dollars on him. It might be a year too soon, but could not be also.

Speaker 10Well, Blue Willow, it's still trying to get out from last Saturday. So given that, we thought we would roll the dice again. Yeah, she seems to have come through the run unsurprisingly quite well. And you're right, Jenny gone bonkers. She was in a very fast front race, first up, second up, back two weeks off a tough race. I think it wasn't at its best. And then it's just had a messy prep. So good draw and should bounce back in what looks to be an easier race.
Speaker 3Fundamental Nature beat the stable mate there, the short price stable mate at Caulfield the other day. She was given a beautiful ride on that occasion. Can she go on with it as she steps up in class, I guess, a little bit, taking on a horse like Cruiserweight?
Speaker 10Yeah, like she beat Educated. She was narrowly beaten again yesterday, but it's progressive. I think the Sandown Hillside will really suit it. We got a bit of weight, so we thought we'd claim. And, yeah, drawn a little bit awkward, but she's got a good turn of foot. And as I said, the big spaces of Sandown will suit. So it can definitely go on with it.
Speaker 3Garners of Cannes is a pretty good filly. We all know that. She's a solid second favorite. But Saintly Dance has got something about her. Now, she's $8 with bet $3.65. Garners of Cannes $3.60. Should there be that much between these two fillies?
Speaker 10No, there shouldn't. Garners, obviously, we carried a little bit less weight last start with the claim. But James actually gave her a good push going into the last race. And she had a good little turn of foot. I think there's not a whole lot of her, but there's not a lot between them, I don't think. But, yeah. Yeah, we decided to leave James on, given he got on so well with it. And Garners of Cannes, well, it's a good filly. So there's not a lot between them.
Speaker 3Tornado Valley, where is he at, Kieran?
Speaker 10I thought he was just a bit gassy first up. He traveled down from Sydney and just was a little bit gassy, you know, a bit fresh. So it'd be better for the run. I think he's come up well, and I think he should improve.
Speaker 3So that's a good push for Tornado Valley. Yeah. So you think stakes, land legend. You've had a few preparations with him now. How's he tracking?
Speaker 10They were just under one. He showed glimpses there. He's been a work in progress. And he seems to be a little bit more tractable with each prep. Yeah, so he'd be better for the run. Kings Valley would be better for the run. He's on route to a, we wanted to run him last week, but didn't get a run. So he's on route to the Caulfield Cup and Ten Commandments. And depending on what the track comes up, he's very much a mudlark, hence why we thought we'd roll the dice again. But if the track's really wet, I'm not sure how the weather's forecast is looking for the past. It can change quickly, as we know. But yeah, if it's wet, he'll be there about.
Speaker 3Poor old Ten Commandments. I reckon you nearly might have to take him to the races, Kieran, because it's a good fall now, but there's rain tomorrow and there's rain on Saturday. So it might rock up and it might be a slow track by race one or two, and then it's a heavy track by the time he goes around. Who knows? I don't think that track can cop too much rain.
Speaker 10Well, it's been as it is during the winter. It does a fantastic job. It's a workhorse. And with Moonee Valley out, it's taken even more. So it does a fantastic job. But if it does rain, like you said, it will cut up quickly. But I think the forecast was 2 mil or 20 mil. 2 to 20. So that is quite a wide range.
Speaker 3Tennessee-bounder Warnie, take your pick in the Chautauqua Stakes for us.
Speaker 10Well, Warnie was superb. Super first up. Probably doesn't want it too wet. But it's a nice race sort of en route to a Rupert Clark. And, yeah, has a good chance just depending on track. Tennessee-bound, if it does get wet, she won't mind that. And a mare in really good form. She actually posted her best figure last start even though she got beat. So down. Down in the weights. We thought it might be in 1,300 would be no problem fit. Thought she might be able to get a bit of black tie.
Speaker 3Can Stay Silent win again? And Federer, can he be dangerous if he gets a start?
Speaker 10Well, I probably didn't think Stay Silent could win a couple of them. But he just keeps raising the bar. He's a fit horse. And the three races have just come up perfectly for him. So given what we just said, it probably will turn out a heavy track. And, yeah. And he'll get his chance again. Yeah, I think he's young as good as ever. James gets on with him well. He makes his own luck. And seems to win with a bit in hand. I think he only gives you about 85%, 90% of his ability. So when something challenges him, he generally has a little bit more in the locker. But looks a nice race for him. Flying Valley needs to find a bit of form. We just freshened it up. And Federer, we had the earmuffs on last week and just deadened him a little bit. But I'm not sure if he's going to run yet or not. But we've taken them off and did run really well first up at the mile there.
Speaker 3In Sydney in the Concord, Stakes tempted. How has she come back? And do you expect her to win first up?
Speaker 10Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I think she's come back really well. And yeah, she's just in a good spot, I think. Her trials have been good. And I think she should run really well.
Speaker 3It's exciting. She's our big hope, I reckon. She's got that X factor about her that she could be our best chance to take on the champ from Hong Kong.
Speaker 10Well, we'll get a look at the champ shortly. He seems to be getting better. He's getting better each time he steps out. So I'm sure, or hopefully he finds a ceiling somewhere. But anyway, we can just concentrate on ours and tempted's really well and she had a great year as a three-year-old and she seems to have furnished that little bit both mentally and physically. So yeah, very much looking forward to getting her back.
Speaker 3What about amplifying the Drinkwise Cup over the 2400? Yeah.

Speaker 10Jimmy's come through pretty well. Out of all the horses I ran, I was reasonably confident with him and he was my biggest head scratcher for the week. So yeah. Seems to come through all right. Or come through well actually. So yeah. I'll still work out where his next plan is. All right. Then so there's no decision yet on where he goes next? Well, there's either Manicato or we step out. But there's always step out in trip. But yeah. There's a bit of a head scratcher there. I don't. He certainly didn't like the way he was doing. He was a bit of a head scratcher.

Speaker 10Yeah, he's trekking along quite well. He's still a little bit away, but yeah, he's gouted. He's sound at the moment, and he's getting fitter. Yeah, we won't see him for a little bit, but maybe the end of the screen.
Speaker 3All right, then. Pride of Jenny, were you happy with her jump out? Were you happy with her jump out there on Monday?
Speaker 10Wrapped. Yeah, she's unbelievable. Yeah.
Speaker 3She just beggars belief, doesn't she, really?
Speaker 10Well, she's just a very well-put-together mare, and her mind and the way she applies herself to her work and training and racing is extraordinary.
Speaker 3Yeah, so she goes to a fee-in, and then I think the Empire Rose is the race that Tony and you guys want to win again to make it three Empire Roses. But do you have to give her a run in between those races?
Speaker 10We don't have to, but yeah, we'll see how she is.
Speaker 3Yeah, all right. Then if I gave you $100 this weekend, Kieran, what would you do with it?
Speaker 10Well, I'd try and increase it today. Yes.

Speaker 10Well, Tommy Dabbin looks like he's going to be, quite hard to beat today also.

Speaker 13Yeah, I hope it's looking better at Sandham than what it is here at the minute. Okay. Just wet the kids' Father's Day paper plane throwing content. How'd you go? How did the McCarty's go? No, horrendous. Got a Ron Barassi-style bake off my 10-year-old son for the lack of skill in both manufacture and execution. So, yeah, no, we were putrid.
Speaker 3Oh, I love that. So he wasn't happy with the old man today? No, no. I was left in no uncertain terms of where I stood. So, did he look you between the eyes? Was it like, did you expect it? He's got a bit of an old man in him?
Speaker 13Or has he got a bit of mum in him? No, at his height, he's not far off looking me straight in the eyes. And, yeah, he certainly looked straight down the barrel and gave it to me. He's not as vicious as his mother. No, no. So was it well-deserved, John? Oh, it was. It was a completely inadequate performance. I was actually standing beside Logan McGill and, uh...
Speaker 14Yes.
Speaker 13He's put me well and truly to shame. So, uh, yeah, uh, it was a very poor performance.
Speaker 3Oh, there you go. There's always next year. There's always next year. Now, um, are you happy with your mare, mate? Yeah, yeah, it looks easy.
Speaker 13And, uh, she's in good order. All of her data, her weight and everything like that, uh, points to that she's, uh, you know, in a similar space, uh, as to what she was before the, uh, the lightning, uh, Jamie, he's wrapped with, uh, it's just, uh, yeah, weather watch now. I know when we drew barrier six, I was really happy, but we drifted four points in the market. So I presume that's why the people, uh, uh, thinking it's the weather or, or what. But, uh, yeah, uh, she's in very good order herself.
Speaker 3Well, it's a good for, as we speak, but there is rain today and tomorrow predicted, especially on race day. So what, like what surface will you take her out on then? What, what, what will they... What will the plan be with her?
Speaker 13Well, there's not a great deal of plan B because the Concorde actually, obviously was on Saturday in Sydney, which we did have her entered for. Uh, but we were sort of happy to take the risk and keep her at home. Uh, but she's pretty much got a run, uh, just, you know, whether second up is, you know, a Manicato or a Scalacci or, uh, you know, a race of that ilk sort of. The thousand metre race to kick her off in, uh, in the, the near future. So, uh, I'd be surprised if we weren't in the field on Saturday. It's just how effective are we going to be if it's, uh, I think she'll run competitively if it's a seven or better. Uh, if it gets worse than that, then that's when we'll start to have concerns. I think.
Speaker 3Yeah. But you're confident that she can, um, win a race? Win a race like this one day, anyway, if the conditions go her way and she gets the right.
Speaker 13Yeah, well, I think she's proven that in a race like, uh, this, you know, uh, she ran second in the fastest Coolmore ever ran to 10 Titrus. She ran, you know, she broke 32 for her last 600 in, uh, in the, uh, the lightning this year and 10 Titrus broke 31 and a half. So, you know, they're things that most years you don't have to contend with. She's had to, so, uh, you know, uh, obviously on Saturday we're facing a, uh, a very quick Philly and McAvoy's, but she's got to step up to the mark, you know, uh, it looks as though she actually ran a big number in the quizette. So quite possibly she can, uh, you know, even if the track's good giga kick, well, we beat him in the lightning last year, but he's beaten us before. So, uh, and you know, it doesn't stop. I'm going to stop there. Three girls in good form. My foreman source is in good form. Both are well rewarded. But, you know, on facts and figures, my mare is as good as any of them. So, yeah, hopefully we get things to head our way.
Speaker 3When you say that, she's at $11. She's a big price. And obviously the conditions will play a part to what price she does start. But do you think she's in the form that saw her run that second to Tentiris? Down the straight over $1,000.
Speaker 13All of her data says that it is. And Jamie says it is. So that's what we can be guided by. I mean, on a heavy track that she doesn't handle, she came around the outside of them in that trial that, you know, Giga Kick was exceptional in. There's no worries about that. But he's probably better suited on the lane affected ground than what we were. So, yeah, look, I'm very confident. The horse is in very good. We just need the conditions to help us on Saturday.
Speaker 3When we get Calvin Southie on, we ask him about your horses because he's your foreman. So we may as well ask you about Bazzable Rewarded, who you would see every day as well. She's come a long way this prep. He's done a wonderful job with her.
Speaker 13Yeah, they've done an outstanding job at home. And she is like one of ours, you know, the team at home look after us. So, yeah, she's come a long way. Yeah. From a 7th art maiden to a group one horse. So, you know, she's earned her spot in the field. You know, if Cavalry Girl was shorter than, you know, my Gladiola and horses like that, then she ran second to her. So, and, you know, the lane affected ground probably helps her cause, whilst it doesn't help mine. So, yeah, no, she's in good order. And she looks well. She was lovely and bright this morning. So, yeah, she's going into the race in good connect.
Speaker 3Celestial Zara, she's the third favourite. She's flying at the moment. Can she win again, Johnny?
Speaker 13Yeah, look, if the track did get wet, it wouldn't bother her. The two question marks on her are the step up in distance. But she was strong through the line at Sandown last start. So, I think that she'll run. I think she'll run the mile out strongly and obviously the step up in grey. But, yeah, the race probably turned out to be more to our liking, probably a bit of a blessing in disguise that we drew 19 yesterday and didn't run. So, yeah, look, I think she's in with a really good chance. If she gets the right run in the race from the good barrier
Speaker 3and she finishes the race off like she did last start, and in race seven, the So You Think Stakes Regal, Seuss represents your stable. Where is he at at the moment?
Speaker 13After Queensland, I thought, you know, where do we sit? He didn't really travel that well. He didn't really settle. He settled in up in Queensland, but he just, I don't know, probably that first up run at Ipswich when they just burnt the candle on both ends and probably just put pay to him up there. He didn't have a lot of luck. He's come back. His work was better going into last start, 1,500 to 61.5 kilos. We expected him to knock up, and Jamie was happy. He thought he gave him a good kick just the last sort of 100 metres. He felt his condition. He's improved off that, and to be honest, the horse's work was as good as it has been probably in the last 12 months on Tuesday morning. He schooled this morning. He was lovely and bright. My apprentice, Sam Kennedy, put him over a few jumps, and he loves that. Come off the track, and the horse seems to be in a really good space. So he drops back down to 58. And a half. Well, if you're having a trifecta or you're having a quaddie, chuck him in. I don't know whether he can beat a horse like Evaporate, which will run in a similar style to us. But if the results came up and he'd run second or third, I wouldn't be surprised. As I say, you've got to take him on trust a little bit, but he's a tough, hard horse that seems to be coming back to his best.
Speaker 3What surface does he need?
Speaker 13He doesn't mind it with a bit of jar out of it. So he probably wants a bit of the rain as well. He's probably better on a seven or an eight than what he is on a four.
Speaker 3I gave you $100 on Saturday. What would you do with it, John?
Speaker 13I'd pay someone to put covers on the track and then back my Gladiola. But in all honesty, the safest bet would be to have something on Celestial Zara. But I do think my Gladiola, if it gets the right track conditions, will be right in the finish of the race.
Speaker 3So that track condition is there for the punters out there. If it's a soft six or better, back her.
Speaker 13That's what I'd be saying, yes.
Speaker 3Anything at Mornington for us?
Speaker 13I've been looked after beautifully at Mornington. On my home deck, I've drawn 14 of 15 and 15 of 15. I'm back and I'll be having the day off unless there's a lot of scratchings. I'll be having someone else for them.
Speaker 3Well, always a pleasure catching up with you, Johnny. Good luck at home over the next 48 hours or 24 hours. Good luck trying to prepare for next year's aeroplane paper competition there at the local Mornington school. Speaker 3Good on you, mate. Thanks for that, Johnny. No worries, too, boys. There's Johnny McArdle. He's Matt Smith. He's a good trainer. I reckon nearly his best team. And he's got his team flying at the moment. He joins us now. G'day, Matt. Gareth, how are you? Is this the best team that you've ever had?
Speaker 15I'd say so.
Speaker 3Yeah. Stars everywhere you look.
Speaker 15Yeah. Look, we seem to always have one nice horse every year. But we've got a few this year, which is fantastic, actually.
Speaker 3Yeah. One of those is Headwall. He's on the path to try to get a slot, of course, in the Everest. Are you happy with him?
Speaker 15Yeah, really happy with him, actually. He's come back good. He's obviously had a long time off. It's 12 months since his last race. So it's been a bit of a slow burn. But he's there now. And look, his work on Tuesday was comparable to last time when he won the concourse. So I think he's back in really good shape. So I can't fault him. We'll just have to see how he goes first up, see how he parades and go from there.
Speaker 3What was his problem?
Speaker 15He's got like a chip at the back of his past and it's in fibrous tissue and it moves around. And when it gets in the wrong spot, it just makes him go a little bit sore. But it's kind of nothing, actually, that serious. But it's just very frustrating.
Speaker 3Yeah. So is he a day-to-day proposition because of that?
Speaker 15I don't know. I mean, he had a really good prep before that. You know, he had five or six runs. I don't know.
Speaker 6Yeah.
Speaker 15He's been sound all the way through this prep. So, yeah, I mean, I guess we've just got to hope nothing moves. Yeah, we can't fault him. He's good.
Speaker 3How good is he?
Speaker 15He's definitely a group one horse. I mean, he's been unlucky not to knock over a group one. He's very good, you know, and he's good on all sorts of tracks now. He used to be really a wet tracker, but he seems to go on dry tracks now just the same. So as he's got older and seasoned and toughened up a bit, he's very versatile.
Speaker 3Yeah. Way to the stars. How much would that surprise you if he causes an upset there on the Concord?
Speaker 15I guess it'd be a surprise for sure. I mean, we really wanted to run in Melbourne. We felt with a bit of a fitness edge, he might have an advantage there. But the track, we just weren't sure how that track was going to come up. We had to obviously accept on Wednesday and then just send him down and not know what's going on. Whereas we're running here, we know we're going to get a good track, which he likes. He's got a good fitness base under his belt. We had to plan to give him a couple of runs over 11 and 12 and then bring him back to the 1,000. Look, I guess it'd be a surprise, but he works very good. I can't fault him. I mean, it's probably just a level. Yeah. A bit too tough for him, but he is going very well. And there's definitely a race for him in the spring somewhere. There's lots of races coming up that we can target for him, definitely.
Speaker 3There's no she's alibi or an autumn glow for either flyer in the tramway on Saturday. Are you happy with her?
Speaker 15Very happy with her. Coming through her first up run, excellent. She's getting a bit more seasoned now and toughening up a bit. And her work's been just good, just ticking her over into this race. And she's great. I can't fault her. Yeah, Bramick, she likes racing. He was probably better at the mile than the 14, but second up It looks like an ideal race for her.
Speaker 3Yeah. What do you do with her after that?
Speaker 15Yeah, not sure. We shall either go to the Seven or the Epsom. So, we'll be one or the other. I'm not sure which way, but it'll be one or the other. We'll just have a bit of a meeting after Saturday and then make a plan. Will we see her in Melbourne? Yeah, look, every chance she'll be down for the Mayor's race. Empire Rose, yeah. Empire Rose. I think it probably depends what happens in the next couple of runs, but that's definitely a possibility and a race that we'd love to win. So, yeah, they'd be on the target for sure.
Speaker 3But you're confident she can win on Saturday?
Speaker 15I think she can. Yeah, I think she can. She's come back good. Her run on the winch was good. Yeah. Yeah, I'm really happy with her. She's good.
Speaker 3What can you tell us about the Mayor Scolato with Zach Lloyd aboard in race three?
Speaker 15Yeah, going very well, actually. New addition to the stable and her run first up was okay. She just did a few things wrong. She can be a little bit difficult in the run, but I think up to 11 is better. But drawing a good gate, she'll race handy. And I think she'll be right there somewhere. She's been working very well. And she probably, to me, goes like probably 12 would be better even. But, look, I think it's the right race at the right time to be prepped. And she's drawn a good gate with Zach's on it. Yeah, I'm really happy with her.
Speaker 3If I gave you $100, what would you do with it this weekend, Matty?
Speaker 15Oh, you'd have to go idle fire, I guess. But the other two, they're going well. They'll run well.
Speaker 3So that's race seven, number seven. And we just had James McDonald on the show. Geez, he was talking up your filly. He reckons that Queen's Gamble can get over more of a trip as well. You must be happy with the way that she sprinted yesterday at Warwick Farm.
Speaker 15Oh, definitely. You know, she's going through her grades nicely. She's got plenty of upside. And I think a mile would be right up her alley. You know, I think a mile would be better than 14. So she relaxes good. She's starting to learn a little bit about racing now. And she tracked into the race yesterday. Yesterday, like, you'd like to see them improve from run to run. And she's definitely done that. And she definitely looks like she should be having a crack at the States race now, for sure.
Speaker 3She could be a thousand guinea sauce, maybe.
Speaker 15Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
Speaker 3Affleworth, he won a benchmark 78, but he did it jogging. And as Zach pointed out, he probably didn't give him his best ride, but he just rode him like he was a good thing. So what do you do with him now? Do you go to Newcastle?
Speaker 15He'll go to the Newcastle Cup. And we'll try him after 2300. So, I mean, he's still a bit green. You would have seen that in the run. He's a bit raw still. He's definitely got the ability. So as he's getting up in play, though, he's taking on better horses. I don't know. He definitely won. We were hoping he'd win like that, but you never know, right? So he's really put the writing on the wall. He's going to be a nice stayer. Whether it's going to come too quick for him this prep or not, we'll wait and see. But certainly he was very impressive the other day, that's for sure.
Speaker 3Yeah. Athol Flay, we haven't seen her for a long time. She's adorable. She's a member of Saxon Warrior, but she's in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. What can you tell us about her?
Speaker 15She's back, and she's resuming Saturday week over 1,800 metres. You know, I mean, I've never dodged it. She's a very good mare. She's as good a horse as I've put a saddle on, stayer-wise. She's very, very good. Whether we can keep her sound or not, we don't know. But we just have to go race by race with her. But she's a good mare. I mean, she's getting a bit older now. You hope that she's still got the will to win in there. I thought her recent trial was good, but really, the proof's in the pudding. We need to see her get out there race day and bounce back to her best. And she's probably, to be fair to us, she's probably going to take a couple of runs to get back.
Speaker 3Did she show you that appetite, that she wants to do it again at home?
Speaker 15Yeah, look, we're training a bit different this time in because of the injuries, you know. She doesn't do a lot of race course gallops. She only works at the beach, and, you know, we've just got to trust in her. But I thought her trial the other day, she jumped quick. She put herself there. Jason said that she felt great, and he said, like, she wanted to do it. So, based on that, we're in good shape. But she'll kick off over 18, and she'll need a couple of runs, that's for sure. But once she gets fit, look out, hopefully.
Speaker 3Yep, so the plan is to get her to Melbourne and hopefully get her into a cup. Yeah, exactly. We want to be there. Exactly. Good on you, Maddy. We might have a dollar each way on her. She's the best horse you put a saddle on, so.
Speaker 15Well, in terms of stays, she's right up there. Like, she's very good, and we never got to see the best of her. So, hopefully, we rule this time in.

Speaker 16Yeah, thank you very much. It was a good recognition for the team. They're all really happy with it.
Speaker 3A lot of questions have come through. Why has J-Mac jumped off Pembrey? He explained why he did that. And we'll see if Guesty's pulled the right rein or not after Saturday.
Speaker 16Yeah, look, I have to ask them. I mean, I think they had a pre-commitment.
Speaker 3Yeah, with Cheyenne, that's what he said.
Speaker 16With Cheyenne before it, yeah. Yeah, so he understands it more than me. Look, that's... That's part of the jockey merry-go-round when you go to Sydney and Melbourne when you're an outsider like we are. And I'm just happy to have Tommy on. He's a good bloke. We get on really well. He's ridden a couple of gallops down there previously. So it's good to have a worthy replacement.
Speaker 3And he's in career-best form, Tommy Berry. So you can't go wrong there. And she's in career-best form. Like, there's a lot of trainers that get nervous regarding their three-year-olds after they were handy two-year-olds to see how they've come back. But your filly's improved, it looks like. Big time.
Speaker 16Yeah. Well, hopeful she had. I was a bit like everyone else for the first up run. You know, you don't want to say too much. And you just... You're very hopeful your horse has come back, you know, better, really. Physically, she's improved. She's never going to be the biggest, strongest horse in the enclosure. That's just her. But we felt she'd improved physically. We felt she'd shown us that she'd certainly come on. And I've had a great prep into that first up run. And she hasn't appeared to have gone backwards since. She's just continued on her way.
Speaker 3Has she improved since the Silver Shadow then?
Speaker 16Look, we think so. We felt like there was improvement in her going into the first up run. But I think Saturday will tell us more, obviously. But she certainly hasn't gone backwards. She's done really well. She enjoys Randwick. She's used to being there. We got her down nice and early before that first run. So she's appeared to have bounced right through it. And I know Pete and his team, where she stayed, were really happy with her. And, yeah, we're looking forward to Saturday with her. And hopefully we see her as good or not better performance.
Speaker 3And then what do you do with her after that? If she wins like she did, like she did there the other day, surely the phone will start to ring for the Everest.
Speaker 16Surely. Oh, we'll just worry about it after Saturday, whatever's up next. And for us, it's more like, you know, what distance range do we go to? Do we look to step her out to 1,400 or do we leave her at 1,200? Pedigree-wise, I've got no reason why we couldn't go that little bit further. But we'll just have a look at the race, you know, obviously at Tommy's opinion as well. Break up all the data off the run and then we'll make some decisions. The good thing about, you know, the spring is there's lots of ways, different ways you can go. But not like, you know, you're up here for the winter. There's only certain options you have when you're in Sydney. You've got more than one option. You've got Melbourne as well. So I think we'll just get through Saturday and we'll hopefully, if she performs like we expect, then we've got some good decisions to make.
Speaker 3The tramway is a good little race. No fangirls scratched from that race, of course, there on Saturday. But you've got Transatlantic who is first up. Benny Thompson gets an opportunity in Sydney during the carnival. What do you make of his chances first up?
Speaker 16I think it'll be pretty similar to what we always see with him first up. He'll be competitive, but he just finds it hard to win. I think he'll love the spring track. He's trialled really well here in Brisbane Tuesday week ago. He worked lovely this week. And he heads there with that winter residual. And you see a lot of horses. They head to Sydney and Melbourne early in the carnivals, particularly this time of the carnivals. But they've had that winter carnival up here in Queensland. They tend to race well. And I think he'll be exactly that. He'll run really well. He sometimes just finds it hard to win on this fresh run. But he's going to get the perfect run in transit and he'll love these spring tracks.
Speaker 3What's his main aim in this campaign?
Speaker 16Good question. I'm not sure yet, to be honest. We'll get through this. And I was thinking, you know, maybe like a hill stake, 1,900 sort of third up with him. But, you know, we'll just see what Saturday brings, how he pulls up. And we mightn't get to that 900 as early. We might look at going to a mile and staying there. We could be on the back of the Tourac. I mean, I'm not exactly sure yet. He's a bit similar to her. There's an absolute stack of options. But he'll be between 1,400 and possibly up to 1,900.
Speaker 3I know that you were the first to admit that you probably didn't have the winter carnival that you wanted in your home state. But I reckon over the last two years, especially when you analyse and sit back and have a look at the results that you've had, you're always dominating Queensland. You win premiership after premiership. But, geez, you've had good success outside of Queensland, Tony. You must be happy with the way that you've been able to travel your horses in recent times.
Speaker 16Yeah, I am. I'm really happy because it was a bit of a bugbear for a little few years there. I just wasn't getting it right, particularly Sydney. Melbourne. and we've always been pretty competitive, but a lot of times it was competitive without winning. I think the last couple of years we've really taken the right horses away I remember taking transatlantic away this time last year to Melbourne and I was really bullish with him that he could he could do a job at some level you know whether I was very hopeful it was group one level and that's how it panned out but I think we're doing that the traveling better I'm very fortunate to be able to work in with you know a couple of southern trainers that that certainly make my life a lot easier when you're based up here in Queensland so and then that we obviously return favor to them when they come our way so it's um it's pretty fortunate to work in with with Peter uh Snowden and obviously Kieran Marr you know two two trainers we get to work in with a lot with traveling and it's helped things a lot you've been training about five winners per
Speaker 3meeting these days in in Brisbane so um Esha can she win again she's just maps tricky doesn't she
Speaker 16from that draw just worries me a little bit the draw we'll just see how that race unfolds in the next sort of 24 hours we've got options for next week as well but um going good enough to win for sure but I want to make sure we can try and get that right run which is we're trying to teach her to relax that little bit more and finish her races off we got away with it the other day but she's got to be better again this week you got three favorites Fleetwood

Speaker 17of said you know last season obviously she's against protected three-year-old company the whole way through you know she's now got to come out and and take on some of these you know older Hardy sort of campaigners it's certainly not easy look I hope it is just go out and run but as we both know that sort of doesn't quite work like that um but yeah look for a four-year-old it's hard you know coming out of that sort of company into these big guns yeah but I think if you know if there's if there's ever a horse and if we've had a horse to do it I really think she's the one that can do it and I think she will do it have you been happy with her trials very so first trial was just here on the Cambridge synthetic she just had a very quiet one and the next uh next trial at TFO the rain the track was probably a little bit against speed came out and and put them away well and put away a very good field of open handicappers and yeah and she's just gone on leaps and bounds from that day yep she's the big high force we all know
Speaker 3that um she'll be heading to Australia hopefully for an Epsom and also a Golden Eagle do you feel the pressure with her now is it getting stronger the pressure or um have you got used to the pressure that goes with the horse like this especially after the build up towards those feature races
Speaker 17in New Zealand which he won pretty well yeah no I'm not feeling the pressure I think excitement um you know spring springs back in the air it's getting a bit warmer the you know it's just a sign the good racing starting yep look I'll be uh there'll be a couple of maybe beats of the heart missed maybe on Saturday but no I think when you're sort of going into it and everything's gone perfect for you you're a lot happier if there's been the odd little hiccup or you're not quite sure where you are with them sometimes you're a little bit more nervous

Speaker 18Yeah, it's an interesting race But a challenging race The challenges are You know, obviously the track pattern's Going to impact a few You know, and advantage Some disadvantage others Nothing new there But it was already a tough race You know, anyway So that adds another dimension to it I think we all saw Recon You know, much like first up I'm not sure how wet he wants it though He's three for three Second up You know, Warney's proven on heavy And he was great in that Regal Roller So that's the race I'm trusting Persian Spirit beat them both In that race And was good So you can tie Warney's form into Abounding They clashed, of course In Eagle Farm I couldn't come in at the price Tennessee bound But again, you know If the track gets really wet It does advantage her

So But what I do think Is you need to Have a lot of strength To your bow And I think In the modern game You need to be I think You need to be A brilliant psychologist Even if you're not A qualified one
Speaker 3And I found that Not so much In the thoroughbreds But definitely I've got to take a break A bit in harness racing as well A lot of the younger trainers Are reinventing the wheel When it comes to training Equine athletes as well And so you have to Admire those trainers That have been in the game For a long time And how they've been able To continue to reinvent The practices that They've been able to Try and get the Best out of their thoroughbreds Or standardbreds So yeah It's an interesting Topic of conversation That we might talk about One day A little bit more in detail But I need to take a break And then we'll come back And we'll analyse Gator's highlight race This weekend There's no surprise It's the group one Moyer Stakes

I think, you know, just having the best individual players doesn't guarantee you success. I think that's where, you know, Gold Coast is probably a really good example of that in recent times.
Speaker 3Hi, Gareth and Gator. Should we unload on Stay Silent now in the last? Currently, whilst it's paying $7 with the potential rain coming and it gets shorter. And your thoughts there, Gator?
Speaker 18Yeah, what I'll know by race 5,612 is the track pattern. What I'll know is the track rating. Agree, if it's leaders track and it's wet, Stay Silent, who's flying and has found a new lease of life since they've led on her, him, her, him, then he comes right into the game. The next challenge for him is obviously coming up in the weight. But, yeah, he's flying.
Speaker 3And he's tempted the best sprinter in the land, Gator.
Speaker 18Look, I certainly think she has a seat at the table. There's a few snapping at her heels of late, aren't there? So a couple of these three-year-olds are coming out and running really good times. And the door is open for someone to come and take the mantle. But she's probably the queen right at the minute.
Speaker 3We move on to the form, Doctor. Disrespect piggyback at your own peril. She'll win a good race this spring. Even when she's running, you don't ask Kieran about piggyback. That's a good point you make for him, Doctor. I apologize for that. I thought I was running out of time. And then I had to build up some courage to say Kieran would just hold for two minutes. And then I forgot all about it for him, Doctor. So I've texted him. He'll get back to me. And I'll let you know what he thinks about piggyback. Do you give piggyback a chance on Saturday in Sydney?
Speaker 18Look, fifth pick, and my comments are pretty succinct with piggyback in this race, golden enough, fresh, and absolutely ready for the right race. I'm just not convinced this is it.
Speaker 3Hey, Gane, I'm keen on Trey Magnifique in race three and evaporated in race seven at Sandown. I think you agree with Winkers.
Speaker 18Yeah, well, they're both in the parlay, so give them strength. Yeah, Trey Magnifique couldn't be trialing any better. Really came of age last prep, not only at the trials, but on race day. She became a lot more professional with 53 kilos here. Gee, looks pretty dangerous, doesn't she?
Speaker 3Yeah. Pembrey in race six and Tempted in race eight as well. I've got those two horses. And when you combine them with Trey Magnifique and also Evaporate, I get $27 for the all-up. Do you like that, Gator?
Speaker 18Yeah, I think they're all on top. So, again, give them strength. I mean, I'm expecting them to run very well. It doesn't obviously guarantee success. But what Pembrey does have is, you know, there's a little part of my brain that's saying, let's see her do it again. But, look, I was with her first time. I'm happy to stick. She did a lot of work. She did a lot of work in the run. Wasn't really given any hope of winning, given the first half, the work she did. Yet, she exploded away from them anyway and ran fast over all time. The problem is, so did Chilly Girl, beating Blue Door. That forms strength. And then you've got Cheyenne, who was probably better than both of them as a two-year-old. So, it's a terrific race to Furious. Pembrey on top, though.
Speaker 3Hi, G. Can you ask Gator what he reckons on Tempted, well-written, and Pembrey multi? It's about $9 and bet $3.65. Well, you're keen on Tempted. You can on Pembrey. Well-written's the Kiwi that she's short, first up in a prize here. But if she's as good as everyone thinks she is, she should be winning.
Speaker 18Yeah, look, I went and had a look at her trial. She is trialing really well. Certainly not brilliantly, but she's not a thousand-meter horse. But look, the trials were really good. Nothing about that would have put you off.

Speaker 18Yeah, look, much to my peril, I'm going to risk rough fire as a top three hope, thousand meters heavy, as he's a bit older. But gee, he made us look silly in Queensland, didn't he? Last, in the winter. Giga kick and natural fling are much more obvious there to run.

Speaker 18Well, we'll know the pattern and the track rating by race age. So I think that's when he'll find his mark. The water finds its level, right? He'll find his mark in the market. As I say, if he's still a thousand metre horse, well, we didn't get much guide first up last time in because he wasn't well ridden. He was ridden upside down in the lightning. If he's safe for one run, drawn probably a perfect draw in nine, you know he'll handle the ground if it gets wetter. So I think that's when it brings him into play. If they're off the inside, swooping, especially at the shoot start, and he gets a really wet track.
Speaker 3In race four at Randwick, we all know that the mug, of course, this is mug punter. He's famous on social media, mug punter. A big fans of all of the Baker runners. But out of the two runners, which one does Dave have on top? This is race four at Randwick. He's talking about mug punter, of course. So those horses we're talking about are So You Are is at 340 and the Budgie Smuggler at 230 with bet 365 Gator.

Um, but it's a race with a lot of queries, you know, a couple of the top of the market have drawn really poorly. You know, how will this track play is going to be important to them? One of the favourites might even get a start, second or third emergency. But what I know about Unleashing is he's trod well enough. Um, I'm just thinking might need further than 1200, but, um, the only top three miss, well, one of them was in a group three race, a very genuine horse.
Speaker 3Hey Gato, I went early with this multi, Evaporate, Pambree and Changing Colours. Does Gato give Changing Colours a good chance in the final race at Sandown on Saturday?
Speaker 18Yeah, for sure. She's been good to me, both runs, um, I didn't keep her first up, but the next two have been on her side. She's won really well. The first of them was a cracker against the pattern of the day. It's a great sign of a coming winner, and she was able to fulfill that. She'll handle any track. The challenge is the 59.5, isn't it, against the boys? So she effectively has to carry, what, three kilos above weight for age. So that's her challenge.
Speaker 3Yeah. Has Kata had any future plays this week?
Speaker 18Yeah, I have. Yeah, but the same ones I mentioned on the preview show. So taking a couple, two Caulfield Cup runners, Wyndogs, seeing green spaces into two of Joseph O'Brien's in the Melbourne Cup, defiantly trust your instincts, and just a little Tab Everest, Golden Eagle, Epsom, Troy, whatever that is, Trixie thing.

Speaker 3Yeah, all right. Then she's what? $2.40 there with bet $3.65. Private eye at $4.00 and Headley Grange at $5.50. Gator, who do you like in the first at Sandown?
Speaker 18Yeah, I don't mind Signetti here who had that blind raise form first prep which may turn out to be quite strong and led and was too good first up for a couple of well-liked debuts on at sale. You know, liked the gaps behind. So without being the better of the day, race one will kick off with number three, Signetti.
Speaker 3Beautiful. Gator, I reckon Ole Dancer can run a huge race in the Moiré. That's from Ronnie. Your thoughts there?
Speaker 18Yeah, I'm not sure about her at $1,000 nor at a group one weight for age level. But I agree. I think she can run well without winning. Thoughts on Point Barrow also in the Moiré? Yeah, well, I mean, look, if Extra Galactic and Generosity have a case, she must have one because she comes to those same, you know, the same form. Or through via Adelaide, doesn't she? So she's genuinely exciting. She was beaten for over in an Oakley plate first up last time in, but probably had some other excuses. And yeah, she's in the game somewhere.
Speaker 3Can you please ask Gator his thoughts on my Gladiola? It was interesting listening to Johnny McArdle. He says that she's in the form that saw her place behind Tentiris in a red hot lightning. And that was as a three-year-old filly, of course. And she's at $11 here with bet $3,000. $3,600 for the Moiré. Like, she's beaten Giga Kick Home in a group one over 1,000 metres. I guess the ground's just the only concern I would imagine for her.
Speaker 18Yeah, I'm loving her trials. And the reality is all her fresh form's fabulous. So, look, she did beat Giga Kick in the lightning first up last time. And I know we mentioned Giga Kick wasn't ridden to his strengths, let's say. So I'm not convinced that's a guide, but it's a fact, you know? And I also think if Tentiris was in this race, he'd be a favourite.
Speaker 3Liam from Tamworth says, good morning. Does Gator think Lindemann leads and wins? Doesn't seem a lot of pace in that race.
Speaker 18It depends on this import, whether they go forward or on it. But he does look a logical leader, doesn't he? And he's similar to a few on Saturday that I'm trusting their profile. He's a much better second up horse than he is first up. And he followed it up fresh, safe to say. But A, he genuinely improves length second up. And B, he'll get a bone dry track which is the key to him. So he's going to take some catching, I think.
Speaker 3He's done that before, hasn't he? He's looked woeful first up and you think, I can't back him. And then he comes out and does what he does second up. Nash pointed that out to us there when we had a chat to him on Monday. So if you go on his profile, as you just pointed out, he is going to be hard to beat, Lindemann. Geez, he's been a great horse for a long time now. Hey, Gator, call me crazy, but gee, that looks a perfect race for Snack Bar on the weekend. I know he's a non-winner, But a good gate, big field, if he's he sees daylight late, he could swamp that field. My favourite jockey, Alicia Collard, up at 20-1. We're finally getting a good price. Mitch wants to know your thoughts on that gator.
Speaker 18Yeah, look, the reality is he's challenging to back with any great confidence. So he'd be the opposite of Romantic Warrior, I think, with his application. But I agree if you can bluff him and save for one run and charge late, try and ambush him. Might be the best recipe.

They'll come to Melbourne for a Maccabi Diva into a Turnbull, to a Cox Plate, and then to a Melbourne Cup. Talking to James, McDonald this morning, he said that she looks to be on track in her track work.
Speaker 18Yep. So there's only two options here. One is she hasn't come up. The other option is that she was hopelessly outspread in a very fast run 1,400 metre race, and she's now a stayer. And if she can win a Melbourne Cup, she wouldn't be the first to be run off her feet at 1,400.
Speaker 3Hi, Gator and Gareth. And this is Jimmy from Airlie Beach, G'day, Jimmy. Cruiserweight is no Mr. Brightside, but he has talent. It's enough to say he takes care of this 74-class race. Probably got a bit too keen in the run at Caulfield last time and felt the pinch late behind Lorberhorn. Is he worth a spot in my multi? Maybe a sneaky fifth leg on a soft going? That's a question mark there from Jimmy.
Speaker 18He's a really interesting runner and a challenging one to work out because all of a sudden now with the scratchings, he's six oaks between runs, he's back 100 metres, and he draws G'day 1. And he comes off a disappointing performance. Now, I'm fairly and squarely in the corner of ridden upside down, and I think with a colder ride, you'll see what you saw the start before, which was a brilliant win. So, he's definitely a key winning hope. He and Fundamental Nature are my top two there.

Speaker 18Yeah, no, she's a good filly. You know, she ran in really good time. Too strong for Blue Door. She was under pressure before her, but was too good. They beat third easily. Blue Door goes to Rose Hill and beats all by guest house in track record time. She can win.

Speaker 18Well, even Amenable doesn't know. So, I don't know what hope we've got.

Speaker 18No, it's certainly a formula that's proven, not only equine athletes, but a number of athletes when something changes up and they get a freshen up mentally. So, you know, and even physically, if there's... If there's training, you know, training methods that change. So, look, we see other people now, Menable and I, and I'd imagine, speaking of GIFs, I'm just picturing, I hear Kent Jr. just waving, smiling and waving as he left the stable, but bless him.

Speaker 18Yeah, look, he was really good, first up. Obviously, he had, you know, in a fast, proper group, he kept finding the line. He was every bit as good as Idleflyer. He clearly beat Lindemann home, and he's proven second up. So, I didn't know which way to go, Lindemann, Chael Wolfe. I just think Lindemann, I've just leant that way slightly, but Chael Wolfe, a clear winning hope.
Speaker 3Morning, G, Gator Man. What's the big man's thoughts on close to the free in the sixth race at Sandow? Marcus' support was huge in his first up race. Your thoughts there, that's from Marcus.
Speaker 18Yeah, look, I didn't know what to make of the run. So, I, there's a couple of things here. So, first of all, A, he was heavily backed. I noted that. Secondly, he picked a tough day to be sitting wide on that track, because everything was up and in. He was outsped, which was weird, at 1,100, given he'd showed so much speed as a two-year-old, but he kept closing. Bigwigs ran past him, so I'm not sure I'll put that on my CV, but he ran quite well. So, I think getting to 1,300, on a better than heavy track, might be the key, if it's better than heavy.
Speaker 3Gator, my silly mate thinks Pembrey is a better win bet than carrying, rising in the Everest. Can you please tell him to pipe down? That's from Daddy.
Speaker 18Well, I mean, yeah. If Pembrey repeats what she did first up, she's going to take a power of beating. I mean, the reality is she's probably going to be ridden more conservatively and harness more energy. So, she should have a bit left in the tank.
Speaker 3Yeah. Felix Majestic in the midway, listed in group three place getter over. The course and distance is $5.50. Am I seeing things? That's from Tom.
Speaker 18Yeah, I'm happy to back this horse. Now, he hasn't won for a long time, but he's not disingenuous at all. In fact, his last two, he's been terrific, doing a lot of work in the run and going down swinging. So, hopefully he can get it slightly more peaceful, you know, similar to the Pembrey story, and that gives you a stronger kick at the end.
Speaker 3Hey, Gator, how does Pembrey form stack up against Chilly Girl? Price seems to be too big, the difference there for mine. That's from Christian from Sydney.
Speaker 18It's a good point. I mean, they're both really good fillies. There's a way to find out, right? They'll race each other on Saturday. So, after the race, I'll tell you exactly who the better horse is. Right now, before the race, it's much harder. And I'm going to tip Pembrey and put my money where my mouth is. But if Chilly Girl runs past us, I will not be surprised.
Speaker 3Yeah. What does Gator think wins the flight stakes, and why is it Queen's Gamble? She's progressing well, Queen's Gamble, no doubt.
Speaker 18The water's going to the bridge there.
Speaker 3Do you like the booking of fangirl Gareth and Gator, of J-Mac on fangirl, and also with a dry track, does that make her a moral in Sydney? No, I don't think she's a moral anymore, fangirl, but... Yeah.
Speaker 18If they all run to their best, she'll win. Yeah. And that's the challenge for her, where's she at? But J-Mac has a great rapport with her. I agree, round-the-mile, dry track, they're the tick.

Speaker 18Yes. So, you know, what we know about track biases and track patterns is you don't need to be the best horse. Yeah. So that gives her a lot of hope, as does a bit of rain.
Speaker 3J-Mac, can you please ask Gator about Wolf Gap and Zambardo, race six and race seven at Sandown?
Speaker 18Well, I'm not sure Zambardo could be trialling any better. No. And certainly a wet track won't bother him, given the rank second and race sustainer, if you don't mind. On a heavy track in a champion stage. The other one, Wolf Gap trialled probably every bit as well as American Eagle, who won a similar race last week. And I liked his run in the Todman, given the quinella there out of that race. Both then ran quite well in a group one gold and slipper.
Speaker 3Yeah. Does Gator have a best bet in Sydney or a parlay? That's from John.
Speaker 18Best in Sydney is race seven, number seven, Idle Flyer. Yeah. Hallelujah. Otherwise, I might just go all-up win. Pembrey, Idlefly, Tempted for a bit of fun.

Speaker 18Well, he's a ripper. He's a bulldog. You know, he loves winning. If he's in a dogfight, he will give his all. I love that trait. You know, and he stays well. What's he been? 2,500 five times. He's won them all.
Speaker 3What do you make of Royal Insignia? I can't believe he got beat there the other day by the Queenslander in Flemington Steel. Of course, he is the stable mate of Amenable in the Chautauqua Stakes.
Speaker 18Yeah, it would have been a nice boost for the quaddie, Royal Insignia, but the winner was a bit too strong, Boomtown Boss. The key to Royal Insignia is the drier, the better.

Speaker 18Yeah, well, I mean, he's another one who's become super genuine and come along at the right time, given, you know, if they can avoid the superstars, the Autumn Glows, the she's an alibi. All these horses find their group one in the day in the sun, and he did that. Didn't he, in Queensland? So, he's in the mix. He's won three or five fresh. He's trialling as well as ever. And I can't remember his last, you know, his last poor run without an excuse.

Speaker 18He was good first up. Terrific. You know, I have no reservations about his talent. I think the question marks around Ninja are between his ears. So, we might need, he's got a great trainer. You might need a great equine psychologist as well to go with him. Look, if he can sustain a preparation, he can get to a race like a Tab Everest or Mum really well in it. Yeah.

Speaker 3Yeah. Surely we aren't too worried. We had Eliana over 1,400. She finished off well, and everyone is concerned when her goal is two miles. That's a good point from Ash. Hi, Gator. Had a big tip for Sherry Bombshell. Last start went terrible. I don't think they found anything wrong with her. There was a lot of money for her that day. Do you think she could improve?
Speaker 18Yeah, first of all, Eliana, 10 lengths is a big margin. But yeah, I take the point. No, I thought they had an excuse for Sherry. She trod really well. It was too bad to be true. Reportedly in season. So, the money was there to say she'd run well. And it's a good weapon in doing form, I think, the money trail.
Speaker 3Hi, G-Man. Can you ask Gaty's thoughts on Salton's comments about post-race comments saying they need to be called out? E.G. J-Mac on Autumn Boy, Nash on Eliana. That's from Michael. The Salts. That's Dave Strelaw. Have you seen those comments? What did he say, Louie? I'm not sure. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Salton, he makes the point that J-Mac wasn't telling the truth or that they need to be more honest about the comments about how those horses went straight after the race. And the same with Nash with Eliana. I did ask Nash about that. And he goes, well, he explained it. He said that the last 100 meters gave him a feel that she's on track anyway. That was his comments and said that. It didn't go to plan in the early part, but he thought that she was pretty good through the line. Now, that's what he told me on Monday. And J-Mac, well, I didn't, like I did say, like Autumn Boy probably didn't go as well as J-Mac thought he did. But we don't know what part of the preparation that horse is at. And he could have went as good as they thought he could go anyway, first up over 1,400. Different horses got different profiles. But there you go. Interesting from the Salts. Your thoughts, Gator, about, do you listen to the jockeys after the race?
Speaker 18Yeah, look, I tend to take their comments at face value. I think what you have to do, in my very humble, is just take a bit of salt with it as well, because they're looking at it from a positive angle every single time. Correct. So, you know, if I'm coaching a footy team and players don't play as well as perhaps we'd expected, you can always find some positives in their performance, you know. So I think that's the angle I'd coach. I think that's the angle I'd come from, rather than, you know, saying they're not telling the truth. I think that's unfair.
Speaker 3Yeah, I reckon sometimes, too, you've just got to read the play with them. And it's understandable, especially with colts. Speaker 23tell me these days michael fredman g yes he's back he burst on the scene last preparation back to back impressive wins went straight to town and won a benchmark 72 by a good space then started ten dollars in the rain with guineas group one over the 600 meters put out cardiac arrhythmia so put a line for that performance gelded now and this horse is trialing as good as i've seen at the trial so go around saturday gene drawn out that barrier should hopefully look a lot better come scratchings and decorum hopefully goes home a winner on saturday there at ramwick number two trained by b baker yeah ferreira ferreira yeah it's a tricky name to pronounce gee but blue blood out of the really really talented i think it was new zealand oaks winner jennifer eccles so trained to sort of get out in a trip but you watch these two trials gee they've both been at a meter and they've both been won by six plus lengths so maybe throwing toward the fine inside the sprinting side of that family um but she's been running really really slick time action's good and most importantly through the line she's been strong so when they do trial like that uh out in front gee you want to see him with a bit of substance past

Speaker 25We'll start at Q Straight, because they kick off in 41 minutes, and I've got a best there, race one, number eight, tailored. Now, very impressive debut, second start, all it wanted to do off the inside. When I thought it was a certainty, to be honest, it just wanted to smash off the track. It's got the pink. And I reckon they've backed the red to push the eight out, so I expect money late for race one, number eight, tailored. Roll over to race two, number five, Mallette. I've been following this dog for a little while. It's been supported. It's always thereabouts when it comes to placing. I think today's its day. It's a pretty weak race. It'll hold a straight line from box five, probably push off the track just a little bit, but race two, number five. Then I had race six, number one. Bit of value here. Sapphire king, $11 thereabouts. Draws beautifully off the inside. No speed, too. Should be a nice each-way play. And race seven, number two, aces up here. Look, I think the dog has got a bit of a brain, maybe sometimes too big a brain that thinks too much, but it's got a huge motor, and I think it'll be right there at the pointy end. And then we'll go to Q2 Parklands tonight. I've got three best bets. The best of them is race six, number three, Back Creek Butch. Maps absolutely to perfection. You look around, $1.80, $1.90. I reckon that's a great play. Race five, number two, Tuckaroo Road. Has speed. No speed in one. Should lead. Should be really hard to run down. And race 10, number five, Distance Drums, around even money. Looks a really winnable race, dropping back from racing against some really good companies. So I've got a fair book of tips, and I'm pretty keen to play in Queensland. I love playing up there. Yes.
Speaker 3Love your thoughts there as always, Mitchie. So that dog's got the same problem as me, too big of a brain and just thinks too much. And then I'm interested to get your thoughts. I'm interested to get your thoughts on that first race, which we'll be able to play on this show, I reckon, the first race at the Q Straight today. So you reckon the punters, and I found this interesting, do you reckon they back the one and so the eight drifts out and then have more on the eight late, the Smarties?
Speaker 25Yeah, that's a common thing in grounds. It's pretty hard in thoroughbreds. But in the dogs, yeah, they'll back a couple. They'll back a few dogs and then might have maybe 10% stake on that. And then they'll just go hammer and tong on the dog that they're really keen on. So it's just a smart way of just pushing the odds out a little bit. The markets are pretty volatile. Yeah, definitely. I think the eight will come in shorter than even money.

I'm not sure if those hats have been embroidered yet, mate. But yeah, she will start a short price favourite in one of those group listed heats at the Meadows on Saturday. But where are we going? Mostly Sandown Park. We mentioned Fling, who's way too short. As I said, his stats and his run home time suggest that he's going to be a nice stay at race four number eight, but he's not any value to have a play. But watch out for this greyhound going forward, Gareth. I think he's going to make a really handy stay. But the two that we're keen on, race nine number four, Paul Winder. Terrific record off boxes, one to four. Clearly does his best racing when he's drawn closer to the rails. He's one of those greyhounds that winds up, like his name suggests, and really gets to the line hard. He's got a terrific PB here. I think he can sit into a nice position on that first corner and then be very strong in the run to the line. Race nine number four. I think there's a real definite each way play later in the program. Race 12 number four. Number three, Marshall Lee Rose. Again, some of her analytics match up really nicely in the run homes. Again, drawn okay, winnable race. And I think at around $6, she's certainly worth an each-way play. So race 12, number three. And then just that one at the Q2 that I like as well, race six, number three, Back Creek Butch. He's been racing consistently for probably about six to eight weeks now. He's got a slow beginner in four. At around the $1.80 mark, he should be winning. So just to recap of the numbers, race nine, number four at Sandown, race 12, number three, each-way all day, and then race six, number three at Q2 Parklands.

But I did like how sort of gritty he was through the line without winning last start at the 1,200. So, yeah, I think we need to ask the question. Because if he can run 14 or even possibly further, then that's going to open a few more doors for him.

Speaker 26I think he will. Yeah, I think he'll run the 14. And, yeah, I think it'll be hard to beat.

Speaker 26Yeah, he's a ripper. He's a beauty. He's almost, as silly as it sounds, he almost seems like he's getting better.
Speaker 3Yeah. Can he win on Saturday?
Speaker 26I think he can. There's a bit of rain around. We're just hoping. Hoping there's a bit more rain around. He won on a heavy 10 down at Bunbury last year. So he does love the wet, which we haven't had a huge amount of this winter in Perth. So if we can get a bit more rain there, we'll certainly help his chances.
Speaker 3Sensational in the same race, third up this prep.
Speaker 26Yeah, he was great first up. And he was a bit of a head scratcher second up, which is the only poor performance he's put in since he's come to our stable. We've been right over him. And there's nothing amiss. That track was playing a bit iffy that day. So that's really all we can put it down to. It sort of was racing in lanes a bit. And if you weren't in the right part, it was pretty hard to get a result. So yeah, it was a real head scratcher second up. But his work's been great. The horse is in great order. So he's another one that does appreciate a bit of thing out of the track. So if there is a bit of rain this week, it'll certainly help his chances.

Speaker 27Yeah, they're going all right, mate. So, you know, we've had a good winter and hopefully we can continue it on into the carnival. But we've got some nice horses in the camp at the moment and they're consistently running well, which is all you can ask.
Speaker 3Go, go Gromit. Can he improve on Saturday in the second race?
Speaker 27We hope so, mate. He started the prep pretty good. He ran a second on a Saturday. And then won a Saturday and then come down with a foot. And that's just been a bit of a struggle to get him back into tip-top form. So, we've tweaked with the gear. We made a couple of changes. The blinkers come off. So, hopefully, if there's a bit of rain around, it'll definitely go a long way to help him with that foot as well. So, yeah, look, at the end of the day, we're hopeful that we can get him back. He started the prep in a blaze of glory and he's just lost a bit of form. So, hopefully, he can bounce back on Saturday.
Speaker 3Jeez, it looks a lovely race for Pindeep in the fourth race. Yeah, we stepped up.
Speaker 27Stepped him up in grade last start. And, you know, the start before he started a short-priced favourite but went off in the barriers and did himself a bit of damage and pulled up a bit stiff. So, we went to the races thinking he'd done really good last week and sort of had to drag out of a bit of a speed battle and really just didn't get into the race after that. So, from a good gate this time, we hopefully don't have to drag him out of it. He can just have him wherever he's comfortable and get his breathing right. And when he does that, he's definitely a pretty good horse.
Speaker 3And what a preparation, yes, I know, he's having. He goes around race five over the mile with six and a half on his back.
Speaker 27Yeah, he's up a fair bit in weight. We thought he got the chocolates in the last last week. And I think most people did. But not to be. The horse on the outside got a big bob on him and knocked us off. And it was the last race of the day. Did you check the photo? Did you check the photo? Clint came in. He couldn't believe it because he was well in front of the other horse. But the other horse has got a pretty big head. And so, yeah, we were a bit devastated because we had Maltese coming up into the last.
Speaker 6And we got him.
Speaker 27We got Dana. So, end of the day, you know, we still had a winner on the day. But it would have been good to have two. But you can't complain with one.
Speaker 3Yeah, I tell you, who was disappointed? Your local bowling club. Because there goes $10,000 worth of sales over the bar with that result with that Maltese.
Speaker 27Yeah, exactly right, mate. At the end of the day, we would have been back there. But instead, we went home sulking. And we'll live to fight another day, mate.

Speaker 27Oh, mate, I'd say it'd be our three-year-old. He's at the track this morning. He's come back after a bit of a fresh and godspeed. He's had two starts. It was a good thing to beat first up and then bolted in at his second ever race start. And he looks a promising horse towards the carnival and definitely in those three-year-old features. So, we'll see how far he can get. He's done really good after a little let up. And a freshen up down at four, John. And he's come back in really good nick. And, yeah, he looked an absolute treat going around this morning.

Speaker 3Yeah. Nah. They don't misbehave. Now, I had Tony Golan on today and I said, mate, if you don't tip us at least three winners at Eagle Farm on Saturday, I'll be disappointed because he's been getting basically five nearly every Saturday these days.
Speaker 29He got five. Five last Saturday. It's usually a treble at least. But now we've gone to 10 races every Saturday. It seems to have lifted to four. Five. So, five was the goal last week. He'll probably go close to that again this week. What did he tip you, by the way?
Speaker 3I tell you, he said, Esha, don't worry about her, basically. He said, the market's right in race two, but he could be wrong. He says, he'd be disappointed if he doesn't win that. Yes. He said that Precise Star is clearly his best. Brita Van should win. It's clearly his second best as well. And he said, don't, he doesn't mind King Kappa with the claim. So, there you go. Okay. Okay. Yeah.
Speaker 29Well, I agree with Precise Star.
Speaker 3It's a star. It's a star, isn't it? It's a very suitable race. Yeah.
Speaker 29Yeah. Ever since left Sydney, gone to Tony, she's been really, really good. So, not a lot of opposition in that race, but I'll get, do you want me to start with her?
Speaker 3Yeah. Start with her. She won like Martin Power the other day, or he did.
Speaker 29Yeah. No, she, she's a she. She. Oh, there you go. No, it's a, no, it's a gelding, actually. Yeah, that's what I thought. It's my mistake. Three starts for Tony Golan. Yeah. Three wins. Yeah, the Ipswich win was done, but so was the Gold Coast win the start prior. And from that gate. With Bella Yungry to take three kilos off, you know where he's going to be. He's going to be up either in front. There are a few that can go forward in the race. So, if he's not in front, then she can just take a trail in behind. So, whatever the case, you can see Precise Star getting an absolutely perfect run and very, very hard to beat. So, yeah, definitely the best bet of the day for me too. Race six, number seven.
Speaker 3So, should we take the $2.30, or do you think we wait?
Speaker 29I'd like about $2.50 or better, to be totally honest. But I don't know if we'll get that, but maybe we'll roll. Well, the Dyson C in the previous to that race, race five, won a bit of value. Number one, Capital Asset. Three runs this prep had been pretty ordinary, but last start was good at Doon, but behind Larrick and Rogue. That was two weeks ago. And we know Larrick and Rogue has gone on and won again, which is a feat within itself. It's quite amazing. I don't think he'd ever win another race, let alone two. Claim here for Monty Philpott gets him at 57 kilos. So, not much more weight than last start. I just think it looks well placed, stepping up in distance also. Needs 1,800 meters, has a good record over 1,800 meters, and I think we'll get a good run again. Now, just beware this track on Saturday. It will be very good. It'll probably be close to firm. I think the temperatures are about 31 today, 31 tomorrow, 33 and 34 or something. So, it's pretty warm up here. And the inside section can be a bit iffy when the rail's in this position. So, it has been obviously watered during the week. So, it may be a bit of a no-go zone, but we will wait and see what happens as the meeting goes on. So, just be aware. But I do think Capital Asset will run well, race five, number one, on an each-way basis.
Speaker 3Anything else for us there, Chris?
Speaker 29Yeah, race nine, horse number one, Manpower. He's in really good form at the moment. He does draw inside here. He likes the lead. There's not a lot of on-pace opposition early in this race. Now, Bella Youngberry, again, she's going just as well as Tony is at the moment. Takes the three off, down to 58 and a half. I think we'll lead these comfortably, and she can steer off the fence if she needs to on the home turn. I like that win, too, back against that second behind Never Enough Lego. Dug deep that day. We thought he might be a bit of a risk over 1,200 metres, but the effort was good. And then back to 11.10 at Doonbin last time around, it was always going to be hard to beat. But I think he'll run well. He just sets up beautifully once again. Race nine, number one, Manpower. One at odds in the first race before I go. Race one, number seven, Cabaletto. Over $20 in most markets. I love the trial race. I just absolutely love it. He bolted him. So from a good draw, worth a couple of dollars each way, Cabaletto.

Speaker 30G'day, Gareth. Yeah, big meeting at Morfaville Parks, and we're finally seeing these tracks sort of get a little bit better than the heavy range we were getting used to.
Speaker 3Thank God for that, because you've had some rough weather over the last couple of weeks, especially.
Speaker 30Yeah, yeah. The last couple of months, the tracks had struggled to dry out. They get a lot of use, those two Morfaville tracks, and obviously the grass goes a bit dormant, but I'm hopeful that we're on the other side of that. We'll have a rain-affected track to some degree, but it won't be as bad as a few of the other weeks we've had.
Speaker 3Where do we start with your plays on Saturday?
Speaker 30My best bet is going to be in race seven. It's a horse I've tipped a few times, Fast Tempo. I had cardiac arrhythmia two starts ago when I tipped him as one of my best bets, but I stuck with him last start, and he was right back to his best. He was really impressive winning that. The Gordon Richards and Damien Maul team have got him absolutely flying, and they're having a good run themselves. I see no reason to jump off him, and if he goes like he has been last time, he'll take a bit of beating.
Speaker 3So that's Fast Tempo, race seven, number 10. What else do you like?
Speaker 30Race six, Mare from the Stokes Barn Divergent. She's been over here for a couple of runs. She won first up at Murray Bridge. It was only a maiden, but she ran very good time for the day. And then last start, it was that race that Jack's on ice saved all the ground on the inside rail. Taylor Hutchinson rode him, booted him about eight clear in the straight, and a few of the horses sort of lost sight of him and only picked up ground very late. So I thought she ran quite well there. Not much speed in this race. I'd like to see her ridden a little bit more forward from the gate. And then my best value of the day. And I'm going to go right back to race one, the maiden, Olivia Marie, another horse I was with last start. She didn't win. She ran second, but she ran very well. I like her going up to 12.50, and she's got a softer draw today.
Speaker 3So that's Olivia Marie, race one, number eight there at Morfaville on Saturday. I think everyone in South Australia, and I think a lot of us are looking forward to seeing what Pretty Baby can do in the Atlantic Jewel, John. How good is she? The South Australian filly.
Speaker 30She's obviously going really well. She's another one of those Gordon Richards, Damien Moyle horses, who's been having a really good winter. She's clearly advantaged on wet tracks. She's by a stallion called Barbados, a locally standing stallion, and the Barbados progeny absolutely fly on the wet. So if we do get some of that rain that's forecast at Sandown, that'll be a big plus for her. Caitlin Toodle's been riding her very well. She's probably a little bit stiff not to keep the ride, but you won't lose anything with Jamie Mellon going on. I had a look at that race. I think she's around. I think she's around about her right price. I think she definitely deserves to start favourite, and her last two wins have been very good.
Speaker 3Beautiful, mate. Looking forward to seeing what she can do. She takes on some nice fillies in that Atlantic Jewel, as you would expect at this time of the year. Get on SA on tonight. But he took out the feature yesterday at Devonport on the synthetic track with the longest yard, winning the Golden Mile. So that means that horse will be gaining a start, of course, in the Devonport Cup next year. It was a good performance by the longest yard.
Speaker 31Yeah, it was, G. He's a bit like the Frio Dockers, Steve-O. He's hard to beat on his home turf. We saw that again yesterday. He's won the last three Devonport Cups, two in a row with Ashy Boy. And as far last year, and now the longest yard is guaranteed to get into the race as well. It looked a real set-up, or target race, for the longest yard. Jet Stanley down for the program. The race was meant to be three weeks ago, of course, but was abandoned by the issues that they had on the track, and won quite emphatically. So finished fifth in the race earlier this year, the longest yard. Probably a bit more improved product this year. So he's every chance to give Steve-O a real-life chance for his fourth straight cup.
Speaker 3It was a good day of racing there. Can't believe our tip there. Belichick and Carrick couldn't run down Bellsprout for Mark Gander. And two good, Gander. Unbelievable performance there. And then what unto Kingsley. Kingsley Bartholomew, who joined me on the show yesterday, said, I've got one for you, Garrett. The Devonport and the Benchmark 68s to Darmus beat Sheborn Power and Simply Deep. In saying that, Sheborn Power went enormous under the circumstances. So there you go. And then once again, Barry Campbell had a good day. And so did Froggy.
Speaker 31Well, if Kingsley was on, that probably explains the market move for Stardarmus, G, who was smashed in betting. And, yeah, a lovely, lovely ride from Froggy, who is on top of the premiership table early in the season. I think he's seven from 24 or something to open the season. He's getting some plum rides and doing a terrific job as well. He had to share the spoils with his mate, Darma, in the last race. There was a dead heat there. But, yeah, another couple of winners for Barry Campbell, Froggy Newman flying. The senior jockeys are really kind of dominating the last couple of meetings. Jet Stanley with two winners. Darma, Froggy, they really dominated the last fortnight. So we've got one more in Devonport before we return to Launceston. There were small fields in Devonport yesterday. I expect we probably will see that again next week. And then they'll come out of the trees to get back on the grass for the return to night racing, which is really exciting for us down here.
Speaker 3The horse of the year, Gigi's Mistruth in Tasmania, will go around in the Moya on Saturday. She's a Group 1 winner. She now has to do it at Wait for Age. Do you think she can do it, Snapper?
Speaker 31Oh, look, I think the market's sort of keeping her safe, G. I think around sort of the $15 to $20 mark. I mean, her very, very best performances at the top level have been in Phillies and Mare. So she's got to take on the boys. I mean, Gigi kicks an Everest winner. So there's nowhere to hide here, as you say. But, I mean, she's got some form around. She's got some form around. She's got some really, really proven horses. I think she was beaten at length by Cabalas last year. Of course, won a new market. Fresh form's good. Soft track form's good. You've got Blake Shin aboard. And I and the camper are really, really bullish about a strong carnival for Gigi's Mistruth. So she goes Moya and then the Manicato after this. I suspect Sandown probably would suit her a little bit more than it might if this race was at the Valley, just given her pattern. So all things point towards a really good race from her. Any winners at Hobart on Sunday in the trots for us? Looking forward to the return of Horatius Speculo in Race 3G. Won a couple of Country Cups last year, was favourite for a heat of the Tassie Cup and made it through to the final where he was a long price. But it might be a bigger and better product this time in. And we'll, again, have a crack at some of our better races. So he returns in Hobart on Sunday in the third. Not sure what sort of price we're getting, but after a couple of trials, I expect he will. He'll probably be winning.

Speaker 3There's Maddy Reid there. Glenn Stevenson, the King of Devonport, joins us now here on Giddy Up after the longest yard was too good there and the Golden Mile at Devonport yesterday. G'day, Glenn. Thanks for your time, mate. No worries at all, Gary. Were you expecting that by the longest yard?
Speaker 32Yeah, look, he's always shown us a bit. We set him for the race and, as we know, we had those issues and so we give him a ticket over last week for the backup and the only instructions was to our young Jett is don't hit the front too quick because he'll stop and that's exactly sort of what he did once he floats when he gets to the front, but he's always shown a bit, so we were pretty confident.
Speaker 3And you were confident to get Jett to come and ride him more, obviously. He was confident in the horse's ability.
Speaker 32Yeah, no, he always rings up and just sees what's floating about because he came down the other week when they called it off and, as you see, he picked up straight up. He got up straight where he left off and it's great to have him down here because he adds
Speaker 3a bit of flair. Yeah. And with the longest yard, now, you know how to win a Devonport Cup. How would you compare him to the other Devonport Cup winners of recent times in Ashy Boy and Asphar?
Speaker 32Well, that's a funny thing because Cody Jordan, who's always rode for me, I give her the option of Asphar and the longest yard and she said, "No, no, I want to ride the longest yard." And she's always maintained that. But he's a Devonport Cup horse and he was good last year and he's probably more mature. It's just that he's a timing type of horse. He's just got to have a good tempo and get there at the right time.
Speaker 3So how do you get him to the Devonport Cup now?
Speaker 32So he'll probably, he'll go around in an 1880 on the back up. He's pulled up that well and then you'll have 14 days on the grass and then we'll just tick over, probably try and get the runs in those open handicaps in the Sheffield Cup and probably go fourth in to a Devonport Cup.
Speaker 3And that Devonport track, I know it's had its problems, but it's played pretty good the last couple of meetings.
Speaker 32Look, it's playing pretty fast and it's a little bit on lead bias, but that's also due to tempo. And look, to be honest, Sue's by date was up and the boys put that much work into it to now they've actually got the track draining, which was a big issue. You've got an all-weather track that wouldn't drain and we had that issue with those rocks but look, to credit to everyone, not a great praise for Tas Racing sometimes, but I actually believe they've done a fantastic job.
Speaker 3Asphar, is he on track for a Geelong Cup?
Speaker 32Yeah, he is, so he'll go around in the 1700 at Flemington. He'll be not for Sydney as well. Just a bit worried about the rain and the shifty tracks, but at least Flemington's a great surface. Caulfield and Sandown sort of work. When it gets a bit wet and a bit choppy, he doesn't really handle it, so a good surface of Flemington will be great, but he's really looking for 2000, so it'll be another ticker overrun in that 1700 handicap.
Speaker 3Yeah, he had a wonderful season, didn't he, last season? He is a finalist for the Horse of the Year. Gigi's Mistruth and Sinai, both are going to be hard to beat there, but he had a great season, Asphar.
Speaker 32Oh, look, Gareth, he's coming back really well. His first up run over there was great. He's turned into a bit more of a star now, and look, the young kid sort of, he put his hand straight up and said, "Look, I stuffed that up," and you know, that's fine. We all make mistakes, but honestly, once he gets sort of third, fourth up into that 2000, I just reckon we're going to hit that sweet spot and we get the right surface. We'll be very competitive where we go.
Speaker 3Sensational, mate. Now, we've got one more meeting at Devonport, but then the night season kicks off at Launceston, and the carnival will be there before you know it there in Tassie. Any horses that we should be keeping an eye on for the summer?
Speaker 32Look, I think Blayman on the boogie, so he's been back doing some, actually he's over in Melbourne with his owner, and he's done a bit of dressage work down at Mornington. He gets back tomorrow, so he's rated now, I think he's won about four or five in a row, so he'll go good with sort of new market, and just ticking a couple of these. We've got a couple of nice three-year-olds. Okay. A couple of them. They've done enough that they've not been competitive in the shorter sort of races, but not the Oaks and Derby types.

Giddy up, it is time now for our Punters Club on this Thursday. It's an exciting time with AFL finals in their second week. Some say it's the official start of the AFL finals after the wildcard round last week. Hello to you, Whitey.
Speaker 33G'day, Gareth, and I'm one of those. Yes. I think the finals do start this weekend, and it's an interesting weekend. I can build cases for three of the four being won by the outsider.
Speaker 6Okay.
Speaker 33There's two that I'm particularly keen on, and I'm narrowing my focus. On teams that are vulnerable because they haven't won finals in the past, or not very many in the past. And I think there's two of those that have got home matches on the weekend that I think we can really target on as being a little vulnerable.
Speaker 3So Adam White, the superstar AFL punter, is with us here on Giddy Up, and we're going to go through these finals. Freeman will take on Hawthorne, $1.45. The Dockers, Hawthorne, $2.75. Are the Hawks too big here with bet $3.65?
Speaker 33I really like Hawthorne here. This is my standout. Sort of outsider play for the weekend, value play for the weekend. You've got the Hawks to win, as you said, $2.75. So the line is $14.50. There's two things I want to mention here. The last two times that Hawthorne have travelled to Perth, they haven't won, but they've got really close. So earlier this year, it was a 15-point win to Fremantle. It was $88.73 at the end. But the Hawks did win at three-quarter time. And you might remember Gunston got injured and didn't play the last quarter. Yeah. But Fremantle won. We're really under pressure that night. And then even if you go back to last year, it was Fremantle by 13 points. So another close loss to the Hawks. So even though they lost those two, my point is that they wouldn't fear going over to play Fremantle in Perth because they know that they can be competitive. And the thing for me that stands out, and I've said this all year with Fremantle, I get worried about Fremantle when the pressure really comes on. And there's no bigger pressure than a home final. There's massive expectations. And they lost to Gold Coast last year in their first final in quite a while. So those players have got that memory in the back of their minds as well. They should never have lost to Gold Coast at home. So I'm pretty big on the Hawks. I think that their style of play can worry Freo. And I think they're a massive price at $275 or the line at $14.5. And remember, you can push that line out as well if you want to sort of take your own line and look to sort of anchor a multi across the weekend where you're getting some good points in your favor.
Speaker 3I think the Cats are morals against the Bulls. The Blues, like $1.62 against Carlton, who are $2.30. The Blues just beat Melbourne, who had none of, like, they had a few superstar players out. Surely the Cats will end the wonderful run from the Carlton Football Club.
Speaker 33So they, although they won against Melbourne, and you're right, Gareth, Melbourne did have a few key players out. I don't think they played particularly well. I don't think it was a great final. But the only thing I'll say on that is I'm a bit cautious because I feel that the recent record between these two sides has to count for something. Carlton have got a really good record against the Cats. And I think it's their midfield can worry Geelong. And I think, you know, one thing that Josh Fraser is doing really well is his game style is really suiting the midfield that they've got. And they're spreading a lot better. They're changing lanes. I do worry a little bit about Geelong being sort of caught a bit slow at the MCG. So I understand what you're saying. I think you've got... You've got to factor in Geelong's experience in finals. But I'm staying out of that game. I just value the history with Carlton over Geelong a bit too much.
Speaker 3Can the Swans somehow beat the Lions at home in front of their home crowd?
Speaker 33Yeah, I don't think so. I was surprised how well they played against North Melbourne. But then when you see what's happened at North Melbourne, maybe it was more than just the Kangaroos were really poor. I did that game. And North Melbourne were largely uncompetitive. But Sydney... Sydney still played pretty well. I don't think they can beat Brisbane without the well-documented players. Look, Brisbane are short enough. But I'd be more interested in taking Brisbane if you haven't already. Like we've taken at 6.50. Brisbane's 2.75 for the flag. Because if they win this, they'll get the home prelim. And they'll be off to a grand final again.
Speaker 3And the Western Bulldogs, the $3 against the Crows at $1.40. Surely, Matty Nix and the Crows can win a final here.
Speaker 33Well, again, I'm not taking the $1.40 considering the pressure. That's on Matty Nix to win a final. So if you go back to last year, not only did they lose two finals at home, they got beaten pretty soundly. Covington beat them by 24. And then Hawthorne beat them by 34. And they started both finals favourites. Still in price as to what they would be in this one, I reckon. So I just think... And again, the Bulldogs beat Adelaide at the start of the year over at Adelaide Oval in a close game. Adelaide did beat them convincingly at Marble when the Dogs had a lot of injuries. But even just with Bailey Dale back, over the last couple of weeks, yeah, they're missing Darcy. And I don't think Liberatore will get up. And we'll know at selection tonight. But I give the Bulldogs the terrific chance. So $3 is over. And again, 16.5 head start for a team that did beat Adelaide at the start of the year at Adelaide Oval. And we know the pressure that Adelaide are under playing a home final. It's an elimination final having that terrible record from last year. And I think that counts. That's what I'm saying. When you look at, for me, I'm happy to bet against Adelaide and Fremantle. Because of the pressure that are on those two teams at home tonight and on Saturday night, I think counts as something. And I like the idea of taking the Outsiders in both of those games as major plays. Any same game multi for us? Yeah, I've got one for you, Matt. I know you like them. So tonight, I reckon it'll be high possession. Finals usually are a bit lower. But I think with Frio and Hawthorne, unlikely to tag. I'm looking at Sorong Brayshaw, 25 plus. And then Newcomb. Newcomb Day at 20 plus. And I'll throw in Clark as well, 20 plus. That's $7.50. So I think that's a pretty good price. And the two that stand out for me are two players that historically play well in big games. And that is Newcomb for the Hawks. So he's 215 for 25 plus on his own.
Speaker 6Yes.
Speaker 33And then Brayshaw is 25 plus, $1.85. So Brayshaw and Sorong's numbers have definitely come down this year. But I just reckon in a final, knowing that Hawthorne don't tag, that their numbers should be a bit higher tonight.

Speaker 33Yeah, just those two. So if you put $2.15 and $1.85 together, you're getting a price of, I'm no good at maths, but it'll be over $4. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3I like the way you're thinking, Whitey. Bring it on. Can't wait. It should be a wonderful weekend of football. And then, yeah, it's going to be an interesting final series.
Speaker 33I think it will be. There's lots of complexities. And, yeah, I still think Brisbane are the clear standout. And based on what I'm saying to you today, I still think Hawthorne represent a little bit of value. I don't think they can win it. I don't think they've got the star power. But I think if they can jag and win over Fremantle, you're definitely getting overs considering the price there at the moment. And then they would probably avoid Brisbane until grand final day.

The Warriors are flying on top of that table. So we think the Cowboys can win at $1.54 and the Eels to beat the Dragons at $1.65. That is the Punters Club on Giddy Up on this Thursday.
