Giannis Watch Hopefully Ending, Dusty May to Dallas & More NBA Draft/Offseason Rumors w/ Sam Amick
1h 9m 41s
The episode explores major NBA offseason and draft developments, centering on potential trades involving Jalen Brown between Boston and Miami, with both teams showing strong interest and urgency. Miami appears more desperate due to roster instability, while Boston is cautious about player retention. The Dallas Mavericks’ hiring of Dusty May signals a clear shift toward rebuilding and a fresh start after the Luca era. Meanwhile, the Lakers face a difficult balance in upgrading their roster—specifically at center—without overpaying for players like Austin Reaves or LeBron James, leading to a defensive financial stance. Restricted free agency dynamics, particularly around Walker Kessler, reveal deeper issues of player value, contract negotiations, and team alignment. The draft remains uncertain, with top picks like AJ and Darren Peterson being viewed as close calls based on leadership and intangibles, though AJ is favored for his experience and maturity. Other teams, including Detroit and the Clippers, are actively considering moves involving key players, with Austin Reeves being a notable target. Concerns are also raised about JA Morant’s declining performance and leadership, casting doubt on his long-term value despite past success. The conversation reflects a broader theme: the tension between short-term gains and long-term sustainability in NBA team building, especially when player dynamics, contracts, and market value are at odds. The episode concludes with a reminder of the importance of strategic patience in roster decisions, especially during critical transition phases.

The day before the first round of the NBA draft, we have Sam Amechon from the athletic senior NBA writer, all sorts of stuff. And I guess we just start with, even though that dusty May headline to Dallas is interesting, we'll get to that. But let's start with Yannis, where it feels like this is going to be now any moment that he could be with my NBA Boston. Yeah, it's going to be with Ryan. It is funny. We were just saying off-air. This is real-time potting here. The honest thing has been going on for so many years. I just joked with our long-time Bucks Beat Writer, Eric name. I said, man, why does our Celtics writer, Jay King potentially get off the hook here. The Jalen Brown saga is if the trade goes that way is going to wind up having lasted about six or seven days. And it's just a seismic move potentially for Boston, if they can win these sweepstakes. Or, of course, maybe it goes the Miami way. So we'll see what happens. Today, the context here, the Bucks are the ones who put the unofficial deadline on themselves with ownership saying they wanted to get this done before the draft. And like you said, lots of other NBA action happening right now too. Yeah. Do you think Miami, because there's no other path for something like this, like you can understand Boston laying out, can Miami make this pot sweet enough for Milwaukee to take this package? When again, I don't know if you're disagree, but it just feels like Miami is probably a little bit more desperate for a path for a player that is this significant. For sure, although, I mean, at this point, the desperation level on the Boston side, I think, is rising because the personal dynamics with Jalen, or he's just, you know, he's so out there now that you wonder, can they go back? But to answer your question on the Miami side, you know, post Jimmy Butler, that is, you know, since the Beatles, you know, and then Jimmy, after that, you know, they need another era. They need another chapter in BAM is a fantastic player, but he certainly needs help and it's not the type of guy that's going to do it, I don't think, as a 1A. So yes, the desperation is there. And, you know, like I've said all along, they've been more transparent about their pursuit and their interest, presumably because, you know, not to offend any of the guys in Miami, but it's just like the, a level of belief from their, you know, in their current, current core is, is not at a level where the heat felt like they needed to tiptoe around this chase, if that makes sense. So yeah, desperation level, very high. And I'm sure, to be honest, they're probably frustrated, if I had to guess, because Boston had been laying in the weeds if you go back to the trade deadline in February. And there was, you know, a lot of time where it seemed like Miami might have been in a one-horse race when it comes to really being able to give Milwaukee the type of stuff that it was after. So to have it now seem like a real neck and neck type of pursuit is a, is a plot twist. Does this feel more than just like the one for one trade here that it would be a Jalen Brown, or that it's Miami's package and it's not, whether it's the Clippers and people talking about that, number five pick, or Atlanta, or New Orleans. Does this start to feel like, is we're moments away from it just as very straightforward trade? Depends, I feel like the Miami option probably opens up more possibilities, you know, the Detroit structure that has been out there, it's funny, because it's been loud, but then it's also been refuted by some people involved in terms of the pissant's interest, at least in the way that it's been reported, you know, with Tyler going to Detroit. You know, the Boston option, if the Celtics have their drivers, has always been potentially cleaner. And that's been a sticking point, is that, you know, they understandably see Jalen as a guy that just finished six than MVP voting, a guy that's coming off the best year of his career, who's two years younger than Yannis. And so while they know this won't get the deal done, they have, for a lot of this, the sense I've gotten is taken a stance of like, no, it's, you know, the trade works. If you just go Yannis for Jalen straight up, you know, you, you, you get off the superstar that doesn't want to be there anymore, and you get a guy who's really, really, really good. But, you know, of course, the bugs have been motivated to just get, you know, every last drop out of this deal, and they want more. Were you surprised by Dusty May being announced as head coach of the Dallas Mavericks? Yeah, for sure. I didn't have a great read on what Masayu Jerry and a new group over there were doing. And I don't think anybody did, but then to come out of relatively nowhere, with, you know, that kind of bombshell shouldn't be shocked. I mean, Masayu, you know, from his Denver days to his Toronto days has always done a really nice job of moving in the shadows a bit. And so, I knew that part of his profile and who he was, but I mean, he's going big with everything he's doing, and they are obviously, you know, this is one of the more kind of distinct phase twos for an organization that I can ever remember. And I'm talking about the, like, the combination of rebuilding and then rehabilitating PR, post-Luca for the Mavericks, you know, Masayu is the guy leading that charge. And so, to send a message to Cooper Flag and to the fan base that, you know, this, this almost gets them a little farther away from the Luca hangover, I think, where the fans at minimum now have got to realize that, like, they are, you know, their organization is operating in a very serious manner and trying to get something done and give them a new area here. Yeah, it doesn't seem like anybody associated with the Luca thing now. It's like they're doing this for them, but it also, I look, Dusty's had an awesome run, makes a detournament, gets to Michigan two years, wins a title, they were a dominant team last year. And I think it's, I think it's probably better than say, hey, it's Terry Stotz, you know, because then it just kind of feels like there's no newness, there's no, but this stuff always kind of scares me. It always, but maybe that team is young enough, maybe the team is, if it were a veteran team and you're bringing in the college guy who's 49, I, I usually just assume that the, the pro guys are going to tune that guy out. Even if, even if there's evidence that it hasn't always necessarily happened, and I'm not saying everything needs to be the disaster that was with John B-line, but this is, this, this feels like look how cool this is as opposed to, you know, that seems to be the benefit of this, of like a really energizing coaching hire from a guy just off a national championship. And maybe he's a stud too, so I don't know. Yeah, I would agree. And I don't have a great read on Dusty. I mean, I'm trying to think of cops, you know, I feel like the narrative over the past 20 years has shifted a little bit, like for the longest time, it was, it was just black and white, like the college, the pro jump was not typically successful. And so, you know, you think about Patino and, and guys like,
that the Billy Donovan experience was an interesting hybrid in terms like you know he's been successful he's not one of championship but you know he is a respected NBA coach and a guy who NBA players listen to you know and to your point about the math's roster it will see you know if you know I think Kyrie is going to be part of that going forward but a lot of youth and a lot of guys that just saw what he did in the tournament and at the highest level so we'll see if it works. All right other draft day scenarios. What are you willing to believe is possible with the top pick and let's say the top three or four? I still you know I think this was the great David Aldridge and hopefully I'm assigning credit properly to this thought that stuck with me regarding the number one pick but there was a line about the wizards and how much messaging they had done about leadership and so I know it's talent first and you cannot mess up the number one pick but when you're looking at AJ Demonts and Darren Peterson and all the smoke about them not being decided and the idea that it might actually be Darren and again you're going off this we're not trying to define these young men but you're just going off the the intel that is out there. The intel in that department is not particularly close in terms of AJ versus Darren. AJ is widely considered a you know a better leader and a guy that has less question marks around him and so I still probably would lean that way that I think the wizards go with a guy that that pops on film so much and then you know you feel like this being a possible French has cornerstone you know that might have some of those intangibles as well. I don't know if you know the wizards are still thinking somebody might come at him with a godfather offer in the last minute here or what the incentive is to not just kind of tell your guy that he's your guy but but obviously we're still in that stage right now. Yeah I think that's probably part of it is if you think it's close just let everybody else think that you haven't made a decision to see if there's some sort of move up there. That leadership thing was Aldrich because we had Vassini and KOC we did this big draft episodes and they brought up the exact same thing of like all right if you're drafting AJ he checks that box a little bit more than Peterson does Peterson to his own admission is a bit more of like I don't know if recluse is too strong a word here but somebody who was like I you know I'm not I just kind of want to hang back I don't necessarily want to be that guy although if you're watching and you go okay well what's the point of having Tray if you have Tray young already in place there does AJ does this number one pick have to be this incredible leader but then again the Tray thing was kind of funny because it went from option to then a three-year extension which everyone assumed was happening this whole time anyway correct. Right yes 100 percent I mean that that ifiness plays into the equation but even if Tray's there endless and Tray's older wiser and so not to say he's not a leader in any sense but he's you know that's not a guy that has been typically marked as as a you know let me put my arm around you and and bring the young bucks up so I think even with Tray there that to me they would be lacking in that department but who knows honestly if the AJ stuff is is is overhyped a bit you know these are still 19-year-olds that you know that are going to have a hard time leading a franchise they're just trying to figure out the league. All right after that I imagine you like everybody else this clippers like hey they don't want to pick they don't want to pick I mean it seems to be the highest pick that is most rumored to be on the move which sometimes it just becomes so when everybody starts saying it over and over again I'm kind of like all right well maybe maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up or it's have any expectations when the clippers end up handing in a name there at five but where are you on the first available pick in the lottery. Yeah I mean clippers land in general is mysterious these days because for one not to go to macro but you know they they have this James Harden situation that you know you know the sequence of events he knew that they didn't have committed money to him down the road he knew that the summer of 27 and clearing their books was their priority and so he got out of dodge and pushes his way to Cleveland. I bring that up because with Kauai sitting here with one year left on his deal $50 million and and no extension to speak of that alone has had people wondering what are the clippers doing see bomber we know as the final say there and there's some of the intel has been that Steve didn't want to trade Kauai I mean then as it relates to the the number five it's you know just what sorts of scenarios are they sifting through to either pivot to the rebuild which it didn't look like they were trying to do with the deadline when you know yes you're collecting picks but you can get some good players as well all of which is to say I don't know where Lawrence Franklin that group are going to go it feels like the deal making route is very likely going to be what they do as opposed to just taking the pick but but I could be wrong we'll see. What about the pursuit of Kauai by other teams. Um I mean the I it's funny because like you hear that bomber doesn't want to move him but then people push back and say well that's kind of what you tell like the warriors for example they I don't think they have a lot of optimism to actually getting Kauai so then it just becomes is that because the clippers are not in love with what the warriors have to offer on top of that I do think there's a little bit of a you know kind of Pacific Division California component there I don't know that they're looking to see Kauai move up the coast and play in the bay so what is the clippers answer when you know some other mystery team that we're not aware of is going after Kauai you know we I think we're going to get to Detroit eventually but like it seems like that that need another guy need another piece you know then maybe the answer is different from the clippers if you use that hardened subtext that I shared I mean that's the part where it honestly it feels right a little bit like like with the jane the brown situation we all kind of tiptoed around the elephant in the room which is like no like he's gonna he's gotta be in the deal and his future in that particular market might be in question I feel like we're tiptoeing with Kauai too like the signs are you know are there the writings on the wall like if they did this with james they're not committing to older veteran stars they are they're trying to shift and that's what they've been planning on doing for quite some time they just they seem like they don't want that narrative to grow just yet the problem I'd have with Kauai here is he'll be well 35 this season he's at 50 million and when I talk to other teams about like just hey you know be moved if he was up here what if he goes there like look how good he was last year I go yeah he was unbelievable like we voted him all NBA like you could argue one of the best seasons he's ever had based on some of the advanced stuff but if he's an expiring as much as that might be enticing because you're like oh if he's hurt all the time and he's an expiring then there's less risk there but I had also argue knowing him and how bad of a partner he is and all those other years where he's hurt and he's working out at one side of the facility and nobody knows if he's going to be available like tomorrow night or if it's going to be three weeks because he doesn't talk to anybody so if he's on an expiring and worried about his next contract I can't imagine what level of my guess would be that level of commitment is not exactly what you'd be hoping for you're bringing this guy 100% there's there's a lot of data points there's a lot of red flags you know I covered that clipper stuff years ago very extensively and you're correct about the way that he moves you know we talked about leadership and some of those intangibles like kawaii's an incredible player but he's not he's not rallying a locker room it's just not what he's doing so I couldn't agree with you more and you know I mean just to just to you know muck it up a little bit maybe massage should just try to rewrite history and do it again and you know bring kawaii to Dallas on an expiring and see what he can do like it in Toronto but I think those red flags jokes aside like those the league has so much clarity about who kawaii is and that's just the good and the bad and then of course like we don't even mention that yes guess what you still have this investigation hanging over your head and you do still run into some executives like by and large I think it would get worked out but like there are people still asking is there anything disciplined wise potentially attached to him that that could impact a move like that I mean you still have people you know wanting the answer to that question with with the aspiration investigation still not included we right back after a quick word from our sponsors work hard and hydrate hard with body armor flash I be whether you're working an extreme heat or powering through a long shift body armor flash IV delivers faster longer lasting hydration with more than 2000 milligrams of electrolytes vitamins B and C and zinc coconut water and no artificial sweet nurse flavors or dies body armor flash IV keeps you performing at your best get body armor flash IV at your local 7-11 okay you mentioned Detroit there
And I know when we go through this Laker stuff where they have cap space, but they actually don't have cap space because the cap holds so they could have all that cap space that they wanted to, but then who are they going to spend it on? They probably want to keep some of their own players. Detroit came up as a scenario here. I thought that was kind of interesting. Yeah, so they and I don't have it right in front of me. They would have to renounce a fair number of guys to get, you know, the type of space that it would take to get somebody like Austin Reeves. But, you know, like I've reported, he's certainly very much on their radar and, you know, they're monitoring that. I mean, simultaneously exploring things like the Tyler Hero structure in a potential Yanis deal. I think, you know, both of those things are obviously not going to happen. So the job opening, so to speak, is like for the pistons level up player, level up move, you know, who is that going to be? It's tough because, you know, we talk about older players who are productive Tobias Harris coming off a fantastic year in a really good playoff run. So like renouncing him is no small fan, but to get the money, you would have to do it. And with Austin, you know, I think it's in similarly with LeBron. The Lakers are trying to thread this needle right now where they want to find the right price point where they have a responsible roster because they're trying to augment around Luca because they know they've got to get better, but they also can't disrespect Austin or LeBron with the price point that they come in at. You know, those things are happening right now and things like the pistons, I think they're at the front of that line as far as Austin goes are kind of just waiting to see where that lands now from a leverage standpoint. You know, the the honest outcome I think has a domino effect on Austin because if the Boston trade happens, you know, in that other scenarios off the table, then, you know, then Austin still has that lane. You can look at the Lakers and say, no, pay me. So, you know, that part we don't know yet, but yeah, the pistons, I do think our are sneaking going to be a team that we're going to look at and they're going to be in the headlines in some fashion in the next couple of weeks. All right, the Lakers, where I imagine they're going to try to go to Reeves, although the Reeves, previous deal, they made out like bandits on right because he was restricted. Nobody wanted to go out there and signed the offer sheet. So, then if you're the Lakers, you're going like, okay, well, where are you going to go for the kind of number that you want, right? That's what all these free agents are dealing with right now. I think LeBron and some of the discussion about Rich Paul saying, like, why does my guy have to take a haircut? And honestly, like, I don't blame the agent for saying that stuff all the time. But if he wants to come back at 50 plus million, then it's like, you cannot be upset next year. You cannot be upset next year when you don't have a better center. So, is there any feeling of like, everybody teaming up here, all the agents involved, these two players going, if we can work out a reasonable number, we can bring Ruey back, we still are able to upgrade at center. Like, what do you want to do here? Because if you want every last dollar, we're probably not going to be any better than we were last year. I mean, right, it's a wonderful idea. And I absolutely do not think that's happening. Right. I really, that's the next thing. That's what, you know, Jalen Brunson takes $113 million dollar haircut, sets the tone, you know, now they got the chip and we'll see if other players in New York, you know, move similarly to try to go for the collective, I guess. But with the Lakers, no, I think LeBron and his people are in their world. I think Austin and his people are in their world and same with Ruey. I mean, you know, I even checked on kind of the Ruey vibe the other day and didn't get any numbers in terms of what he's looking for. But the fact that the messaging very quickly was, no, if he's, if he doesn't get market, like he's prepared to leave, you know, it's the same vibe with all of them. It's, it's all three of them basically saying, I'm prepared to leave. And so I will say, and I've argued with my buddy and Lakers be right or Dan Wikey about this from the athletic is like, all right, that's great. But like, you're not going to be any better. You're just not like if you, you know, like because there's, if you focus on, oh, they're going to be screwed if they lose Austin, well, they're also going to be screwed if they pay Austin too much. And same thing for LeBron. And that's where having just watched San Antonio and O.K.C. and, and even the Minnesota's in the Denver's in the West, like without that spirit that you are asking about, like, I don't know how the Lakers level up here. Yeah, I don't know how they improve the center situation. Yeah, even if guys didn't take as much. I mean, this Walker Kessler story, some of these players, they just don't understand restrictive free agency. This seems to happen once every few years, whereas like, I can't believe that's like, this is the way you're handling. If they offered him five years, 140, I don't know if the language on some of the guarantees in the back end aren't as good. I know that you have it on records that was offered. So I don't know, I don't know the full details of the entire contract. But what number is he looking for? Five for 140 isn't going to get it done. I mean, my feeling is for one, I don't think he's looking to, to sign for that long. That's one thing, you know, so the length is, you know, I think he's looking for more flexibility on that front. You are correct. You know, that that offer, it was put to me that it was, you know, it was roughly accurate. So it's in that neighborhood. I don't know all the details, the options. The backdrop here is that for one, this is, and I'm not saying this is a huge part of the story, but, you know, this is partly, you know, be careful what you wish for when they've been tanking for a few years. And there's this sense, you know, I think from Walker's side that there's a little bit like, man, I paid this penance and played along with this for quite some time, even as injury last year with the shoulder. You know, there were times when people thought he was ready to roll and it's just when, when you, you're kind of messing with the basketball gods like they did and it paid off. The guys who went through that and I've seen this before sometimes just think that there's something waiting for him on the back end, but I don't know, I mean, this is definitely something hundred forty million dollars is is not nothing. I think it would make him the highest paid big man in the league who has not been an all star and not been all NBA. So, you know, that I just think that personal dynamic in the relationship between Walker and the front office has gotten a bit sideways long before even this negotiation. And I don't have clarity on, you know, this ties back into the Lakers stuff that you talked about. The question does cross my mind like is, does he just want to play somewhere else now, you know, does he want to go play for the Lakers. Now, in fairness, you know, Walker, after that story came out, you know, put up kind of a cryptic Instagram post, not cryptic, but just professing his love for Utah and the market and the city. So you can tell it's like, you honest light, you know what I mean, it's like that spreading the needle of let me apply pressure to my situation, business wise, while not being, you know, offending the fan base to a place where we're on then uncomfortable. So all of which is to say, you know, we'll see where that lands. He would be a wonderful addition to the Lakers if they could find a satin trade scenario there, but I don't see him making that kind of money in that scenario because, because then like we said earlier, then you don't have room for Austin LeBron. Yeah, that one doesn't make man Utah is going to get expensive though, huh, between Larry, between JJ, this number of the Kessler, this guy have a county George wants to deal with. I imagine whoever they draft starts in place of whatever your number two option was, because Laura is going to play the small forward. So I don't know if DeBonza, if he falls to two, if he's Peterson to two, then sort of make sense in there. I've heard rumors about Caleb Wilson, even the number two, but just from basketball standpoint, even if I don't want to draft based on need. That one just doesn't make a ton of sense if you already have JJ and you resigning Kessler and all this kind of stuff. I'd imagine I was going to make sure to add on to what you said. We talked about the media stuff and Walker's situation. I did have a great appreciation for, I don't know who's leaking what, but man, the media handling. So I write my thing about that situation being pretty strained. ESPN has the numbers on the contracts and now the world knows what was offered to Walker. But the one that flew under the radar a little bit is my guy Tony Jones quickly reporting that the jazz are seriously looking at I can't boozer, which I that one made me smile and laugh a little bit because it just seemed like a very clear like a Walker, you know, guess what? We have a very cheap option here, relatively speaking, where we could go ahead and draft the guy who's father works for the organization and fill that job that you clearly aren't excited about filling. I mean, just in terms of leverage and options and and the way that the teams move, I thought that was an interesting decision. I'd have to think Cam is at least like they have a hard conversation about it where they go, are we going to be screwing this, but at the same time, too, it's like, what are you going to run your front line out there, especially if you don't bring Kessler back. But then Kessler, what he could come back in the qualifying offer and then started again, but I I'm.
I understand like the Kessler argument of a little bit, it's like, I sat out all these games, we tanked, like I did the, I did right by you, but I still felt like whenever that contracts announced, whenever it's finalized, it's going to just lead to NFL players, quote tweeting that Walker Kessler deal going, I can't believe the NBA contracts that happened up there. Booser, go ahead, did you have something else? Yeah. Well, the more context come, the agree or not, if you run, if you go back to February at the trade deadline, and this was in the story, but like a driving force behind the way that Walker sees his market is that before the Pacers made the trade with the Clippers for Zubach and the two firsts and that massive package that, you know, that ended up backfiring for Indiana, they went after Walker. And so the other, it's almost like a situation where you know too much if you're him, like Walker knows what a team like Indiana was willing to put on the table for him back then. And that is largely informing the way that he sees his market. Now I get that, no question, but that scenario is no longer in play. That team went out and got another big, you know, like that, and that does not directly apply to restricted free agency where like you said earlier, like now it's the time where it's only teams with room, they can give you an offer sheet. And so you might think that your value is here, and it is if you are hitting unrestricted free agency, but you're not there yet. So it's all these different conflicting data points that are, I think, leading to the conflict and the actual conversation. Boos are who people expect to end up in Memphis may not have jaw as a teammate. What's the latest on the job market? I was told that Memphis has been waiting intentionally to see what Miami does. Because they have, it seemed like they have, I don't know how many teams are in each bucket, but you have two different types of job or ant, suitors. And I think, you know, the first one is not amenable for the Grizzlies, which is the ones like in my backyard, the Sacramento Kings, who basically say we think you'd be great, but his value is very low right now, and so we would take him and we would also love to have some draft conversation in return as well, which Memphis is not looking to do that. Then you've got potentially a team like the Heat, where if they swing a mess on the Otis, that maybe they'd be more incentivized to actually do something that could help Memphis turn the page here. So I don't know how many teams are in each of those buckets, but that is the distinction between them. And it seems like Memphis is, again, just waiting to see if Miami is going to get involved here. New Orleans has certainly been mentioned, Minnesota, but, you know, it's insane to me. And I get all the red flags that have reported on a lot of them, but it still blows me away. That, you know, we're talking about John Moran and the type of value that is being assigned to him is not low right now, but we'll see where that goes. I'm not shocked. I'm not shocked because I don't know. I think he's one of the most delusional athletes in recent memory. I think all of the stuff that's happened in gone wrong in Memphis, there's not any moment that I've ever felt like he's gone like, hey, maybe I need to change my approach here. And I think we're the same page of like what his peak talent was and how great it was, he's become a worse shooter, he's become, I would say, a worse teammate. He's not a leader whatsoever. So if Miami misses out on the honest thing, it's like, so you're going to give the keys to this guy. If you're Minnesota, you're like, what are we doing? Like are we attaching ourselves to a name? Are we, are we doing what I think is a very repeatable, and I shouldn't say mistake all the time, but the guys that are buckets are so coveted and the GM's are like, it's so hard to get these guys that they do. Whatever they can, every single time to bring in one of these players, and a lot of times I'm like, I don't think you're bringing in that player anymore. And for JA, I would be totally fine being completely wrong. If I were a GM and it's like down to me and two or three other teams, I'd go, I'm fine. I'm fine. And if I end up having my own or get mad because JA was scoring 30 a game, I'm totally okay with me making that mistake because I just think it's been going downhill, Sam, for multiple seasons on top of injury concerns, on top of contract concerns. And I'm not even like giving him that hard of a time about some of the stuff that's happened to him because I'm not much of a moralist, but what I would say is that his reaction after the fact, whether it's the Jalen Rose interview, whether the Malika things way before any of this stuff, but every time he's had some like, you get some time with him to be like, all right, where's his head at right now? I would say it's generally disappointing. That's all very fair, and our friend and colleague Kirk Goldberg, this comes to mind, I take all the drama off the court away. Kirk has put out some incredible videos and information and analysis regarding the decline in JA's game and getting to the rim and his shot efficiency and none of that has anything to do with the guns, the strip clubs, this and that, that's not it or the vibe or the attitude. That's really just a basketball. And so it's a somewhat of a little bit of the Russell Westbrook thing where an incredibly athletic player who doesn't have the well-rounded game later in his career, and you see the impact that has. And I think the thing that still makes me marvel at how low the value is is because you look up and you think, well, he's got to be at least 32 years old, right? And it's like, no, he's 26, like, are you kidding me? Like it's insane. And honestly, not to get melodramatic, but like from a life standpoint, it's you, I feel for him. Like it's way too young to have the star fading like it is, and maybe he's got another chapter in him. But everything you hit on just basketball was, is absolutely fair. And in terms of how he's moved through all this stuff, you know, yeah, there has not been that, that may a couple of, you know, let me figure out how to look inward and figure this thing out moment. And I think other teams see that. Can you give us any more draft insight and just like, hey, this is somebody that you think everybody's going to be fighting over somebody else that you think is, I don't know, if it's it's loss of momentum earning like that, just as we get ready for tomorrow. Admittedly, my friend, the downside of having a wonderful draft expert at our place like San Vassini is that I'm not the best on the draft, we, you got to get him on here. I'm in the honest mode right now, I'm in Lakers mode, I'm in Detroit mode and was seeing, you know, where these pigs are going to go, I will say this is going to show you how bad he am on the drafts. Why am I blanking? Is that looking my phone? This big fella from Michigan, the, Mara, thank you. The Mara market and the teams that you talk to, and this, this actually tied back into the Utah stuff a little bit. The general concept in this Victor Wemmenyama NBA to, you know, whatever piece of the NBA pie he's part of now, like, I'm really curious to see where Mara goes because he just kept hearing his name in terms of, like, it's the Wembee effect, it's, it's whether it's Walker Kessler or like, you know, I wrote this a few weeks back, like the jazz, if they could have Kessler, you know, Mark and then triple J, that sort of size and versatility is the type of stuff that will help you against Victor Wemmenyama. The next just showed, if you have Carl Anthony Towns, Oji Ananobi, Mr. Robinson, that's the luxury helps you against Victor Wemmenyama. With Mara, it feels like if it was three years ago, and maybe I'm missing the mark with this, but, you know, he could be a, you know, an early second in the draft and all of a sudden, you know, his value is very much getting assigned to the way the game is changing right now with Victor at the center of it. Yeah, I think that that's spot on because I was kind of shocked to see him all the way up to eight, you know, I think that probably is his ceiling on where he could go. And it also may just make a lot of sense for Atlanta to go, well, we need a center. We need some other size to put with a conglue and put next to him. So I do think that there's been some like need stuff in the lottery where you can figure out. I can't believe that Aaron Wiggins only gets you a couple of second rounders with that contract. Sure. That was, that was surprising to me. As impressed as getting an A plus for once, you know, yeah, I know it was kind of out of the road. But I mean, he was, he was a real contributor to the last year's Dean, like there were times where he was getting 20 plus minutes a night and huge playoff games for a team that's winning a title with that contract. That was, that was somewhat surprising. Look, enjoy this Janus March. It feels like it's almost over. You'll see who knows by the time this posts, I could be doing a special on Janus somewhere else. Hopefully, hopefully it does. Hopefully, it's a little bit later tonight and then we'll do something in the morning. But enjoy the draft, Sam. Thank you. Thanks, Ryan. Be good. We'll be right back after a quick word from our sponsors. Now, raising canes, we focus on making the most crepeable chicken thinner meals, getting them right every time.

Which day did you make it out, Surrey? Saturday, which was the guys that shout out to the USGA, they hooked us up. I said, they invited Kyle to, they invited you to, but we don't even work out. It's technically it's across the country, so I kind of figured that's a fair excuse for you. Kyle was supposed to come. He did have a prior engagement. He did miss a good time, but we were there, Saturday, I was there with my wife, and dude, it was awesome. It was, it was so much. Shinnecock is beautiful. The course is, I mean, just like watching that course is insane because like dudes are like pitching from 50 yards away and struggling to keep it on the green. We had a blast. So to Jonathan Griffin, all the guys, it was a lot of fun. Looks like you guys yourself a new hat there. Oh, we've done it. We've done it up, right? Yeah, you gotta do it. Absolutely dominated the Merced Hat. They have, I mean, they just have incredible stuff. You got something nice for your dad, your father's day? My dad's not a golf dude, I get all in any way, shape, or form, so he got to hang out with the kids. So that was a good time. I did get something from my mom because my mom actually is more the golf person than my dad, but which is, you know, a little funny, but now it was all good. But yeah, it was a big weekend. Father's Day was awesome. US men's national team advances. When's the group? Smoke. Another win. I mean, vibes are high all around. Shinnecock. It was great. Yeah, so it was a lot of fun. Did you meander or did you pick a spot and like post up for the? No. US Open. So in, I think it was 2013 I was at Marion and Philly and we, it was, I was with my mom and we just sat on the 18th, basically all round, which was, you know, it was fun. Like we say, all our group go through and it was the Sunday too. So we saw the end of the tournament. I believe Justin Rose won. This time we, we just, we just tried to like figure out different spots along the course and I was asking like the guys for advice, but it's, it's sort of hard, but we looked out because we basically, Scotty, we felt Scotty a lot and we followed Rory a lot. And they were basically back to back. So I would jump ahead a couple of holes, find a decent spot, wait for them to come through, watch them play through, try to get maybe like a green vantage point where you can see the, the approach shot and then the puts. So we kind of did that and looked out and then one of the holes like Rory literally rock, walked like, head on Instagram story, like, walked like right by me through the, through obviously the gallery and everyone's just yelling, yeah, Rory, I mean, it was funny too because like, Wyndham Clark wins the thing and I wasn't around Wyndham a ton. Like I, the vibes were not great on Sunday. People were definitely running against him. It seemed like. Um, I wasn't around him on Saturday a ton, but people were definitely rooting for Rory. I would say more than Wyndham and certainly Scotty too. I was trying to compete the, uh, the career glances, the Grand Slam thing, but man, it was cool. Of course, in personal seeing how frustrated those guys get, which is how tough the course is because again, the Greens are like, don't, they don't really like, it bulge doesn't stay on there unless you put it in a very specific spot, but, and the wind was crazy too. I was crazy windy out there on the long island. So, um, I think they said that's like, maybe that or Oakmont's like the toughest course of any US Open course, do those guys swear to well, wind, that's why people don't like Wyndham, I guess, because he's a little bit more, uh, certainly, I don't know, he lets it fly a little bit, he throws some gloves, he breaks stuff. He doesn't, he's like, I guess he's anti kid. I don't know. Maybe that was, that was a prior version of himself, but yeah, I didn't see anybody yelling or anything like that. But I guess that was one of the reasons that people didn't like, Wyndham, I didn't know the background behind Wyndham, he is, uh, they were definitely rooting against him. Yeah. That's the way it came across on TV. Um, and then I don't know that there's any tech threats I was a part of. There was like, oh, yeah, I really hope Wyndham pulls this off. So I don't know what's going on there. I'm not plugged in enough. I thought it was incredibly cool that his father jumped on a red eye from Denver and surprised him and that Wyndham didn't know that his dad was there to watch him close out when the US Open. So I thought that part was really cool. Um, I, you know, I get the Sheffler part of it and then there's this push where Wyndham has a huge lead and you're like, this thing's gonna fall apart, but it's just so hard at that course. I can't believe it was even something where what was he six up seven up at one point and then it got back to like one, it's just not the kind of course you feel like you can put together that many holes and make up that kind of ground. So yeah, I think there were people were saying he kind of, this is unfair, I guess, to say, but that it's seen as like he had won the course and like basically a 45 minute period. Uh, I think on your Thursday because there's like a fog delay and that's where he just kind of jumped out and basically just kind of played deep away for the rest of the tournament. But he tried to make a run. I saw we were on 16. We saw Scotty miss a, an eagle put on a part five that would have put him right back in it. And that was a big miss. I think he went out of bogey another one later. They were trying, but it did. It's just hard to score there. I can't be watched. We watched this shot where Rory almost drove the green. I think this was 10. He almost drove the green had maybe a 50 foot just kind of like pitch up and he and his partner could not keep it on the green. They were both very similar distances away and both of them ended up making bogey. Like that's how hard that course was. A professional making bogey from 50 yards out. Yeah, the mound or however those greens were working. It's like, okay, is it going to stay up? It's like, nope. Now you're chipping back on, hoping somehow to save par. I was talking to the guys too because I think early in the week people were like, oh, the conditions are too easy. And they're like, yeah, you know, everybody can play and say, nobody's ever happy. But yeah, yeah, but man, like I know the US open that they try to keep it notoriously very difficult. And I saw a thing going around, they were asking a bunch of golfers, like what, what like an 18 handy cap would shoot at Chinacoch on a day like that? And they were like 125. You probably be the overrunner, you know, jeans, cool, 100 free boy on Friday. So you go. You broke 100. Yeah. All right. I usually was. Okay. The scores are getting worse. You're your head too much. You said me. Actually, you know, it's funny. You sent me a swing video. Was that last week? And I did show the boys at the USGA and the media tech and they, they, we all agreed to actually kind of look pretty good. It was clean. Yeah. The swing is getting better. The scores are not. Hey, progress. I was an always linear, you know, I was better off just going over the top shooting like a low 90. Now I'm like, everybody's like, man, your tempo looks great. You get your hands inside. Like there's a lot to like there. I'm like, uh, another seven, yeah, mark down a double. Give me a seven boys. All right. Let's see here. A lot of fun. Nice, guys. That's a lot of fun. Yeah. No, thanks. I'm glad that that all worked out. Looks like you got yourself a pretty sweet lid too. I got one buddy even say, we'll be, we'll be voting, rotating those over the next couple minutes. Okay. All right. I'm sharing beds at a bachelor party. Life advice rrgmail.com. This is such a non starter. I mean, it depends on the age a little bit here, five down to 165 player comp, George Hill. My only impressive gym status being able to do a plank with a 25 pound weight in my back for four minutes and then I go every day before work. Yeah. That is a long time. I'm 25 and going on my first bachelor party in the fall. I'm in the wedding. And my other friend is in the wedding text me a few weeks ago that we might have to share beds based on what the groom and best band told him. I never heard that. I told him that's ridiculous and that I'm going to be an asshole about it all the way to the end. That's nice. There's 14 guys. It seems excessive 99 percent chance to be in Miami. The groom happened to be in my city for work last week. I asked him about it. He said, quote, it's a possibility, hopefully, not the case. I responded. Forget the fact that we can all afford to have our own bed. We cannot be getting drunk all week and going back to Airbnb and share a bed with another dude. He was super nice, but also kind of a pushover. He's not going to be the bad guy in an all likelihood his fiance from college, who we all know and are friends with, is going to have a hand in planning it. Am I overreacting here? Is this something strongly to strongly argue against? Seems absolutely absurd, but it's my first one. So maybe I'm completely off base. Thanks for the help. And as someone who has student debt, appreciate Rosillo's mini ran a couple months ago about not feeling badly for schools that are having financial issues. Yeah. There you go. Let's pour in the outlet, expanding. Yep. All right. Sharing beds 25s about the end of that time, isn't it? I've shared a bed. I've shared beds. Many beds. I mean, Civil War era. Those guys, it was like a given. You share a bed with your best friend. Just kind of strengths in the relationship, didn't it? So, you know, we're not so far removed from that. But yeah, 25 is when I use the timeline of man, you're right.
Well, it's not that long, you know. But yeah, I mean, I guess the question is like, if this, is this just an absolute cluster fuck of a bachelor party like planning phase, like sometimes like the guy who's in charge of the bachelor party, which was the best man, he's not there for his logistic prowess. He's there because they're, you know, they're better friends than everyone else. And like that can be a bit of a bummer. I'm kind of in that, in the throes of that right now, by the way, sturdy might need September third to sixth off, we'll keep it updated. There's 18 dudes in a Scottsdale house. And they're like, it might get a little funky with the arrangements. I don't think we're going to be like, you know, two dudes in a bed, but it might be like, somebody's using couch cushions on the floor. I don't know how it's going to work, but like, but I'm watching this go in the texture. I'm like, I'm not sure the guy who's in charge of this is the right man for the job. And this is where it's sort of rearing it's ugly head. So this might just be a really bad planning thing. I guess you could go there out and be like, listen, I'll be, I'll be at the house by 9 a.m. every day, but I am going to be in that hotel room. That's a block away. I mean, you could do that. I don't think it's a deal breaker. dudes would talk about you if you, if you bow out of the shitty sleeping arrangements, but just make sure you're there on time for the activities every day. So I lost you for a second. The question is about sharing beds, right? He's just doesn't want to share bed. Dude, I mean, if half the basketball parties I feel like I've been on, I've either had like a cot on the floor. I've shared a bit. And you know, as you get older, yeah, that gets kind of older, you're 25 years old, man. Like I just feel like this is kind of par for the court. You're also going to look back at these days and be like, that was awesome. You know, like one of my favorite, I've told the story, but one of my favorite times was when I slept on my buddy at the University of Delaware, I slept on his floor with like a wet towel and I think I like an Xbox with like a, with like a pillar of my head on it. And yeah, it was the worst line of sleep I probably ever got in my life, but like it's a story you tell the guys later. And it's like just something funny that happens. Like it's something you live through you, and you're going to miss that and want to tell stories. Like so, yeah, all right. It's not going to be the most fun thing in the world, but like dudes, if had way worse experiences at basketball parties, okay. You have a bed, you could probably pick, do you know, does he know somebody else there? Like could you just pick who to sleep with? That's you, we usually just drafted by like different bedrooms. That's kind of how it works. And you go from there. Like it's not really like, you're not going to get the best sleep of your life in that weekend. That's kind of not what it's about. It's about just hanging out with the guys and being around. So if you're going to be the guy that's playing about things like this, like it's not going to go over. - Yeah, if you're trying to start a revolution at 25 for this, I don't think you're going to get all the states to ratify. Is my, you know, I don't think that, you know, Delaware's not in on this one. Like you're going to have to, you guys have to be closer to 30, I think before it's enough for dudes to like actually cause a ruckus about this. So I think you got to read the room and eventually just, you know, everyone knows how you feel now. Yeah, the commitment to being an asshole about this to the very end. You might want to reconsider that if you're really not getting any motion on what you're trying to do here. - So would you say he's trying, he's like the Thomas Payne trying to, trying to write common sense in this situation? - Yeah, he's a little more Patrick Henry. I don't know. Look, just get a hotel room. Just get a hotel. Is this important to you, man? - It does, my brother did it and we, you know, we accost him about it, but he was there every day and we all give him credit for showing up, you know, getting out of that hotel room and showing up for our shitty coffee and Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches at nine o'clock. You know, he did it as long as it's the commitment there though. If you do get the hotel room, you got to make sure you're, you know, you're not missing very often. - And half thick skin. - Yeah. - If this guy's already this determined to be a jerk about it though, right? So 25's probably on the earlier run of like having this be on the off ramp, right? 25's probably like the earliest where you'll have a guy in the group to be like, "Hey, I don't really necessarily want to." Well, nobody wants to do it. There's very few guys who are like, "Hey, this is awesome. We're all gonna share bets." But you let's just say 35. It's a non-starter. Guys aren't showing up. They're like, "I'm not going to go do this." But 25, you still get some guys doing it. My guess is like you are maybe, I don't want to say the difficult friend out of the group, but just based on the way you've talked about some of this stuff already. Just tell me yourself the favor. And there's, right. They're expectations for you and what you're going to do. Well, instead of deciding like, "Hey, I'm gonna take great pride in being a jerk about it the entire weekend." Just go get a hotel room. And then they can make fun of you. You can make fun of them. And you're actually getting what you want. And you're probably doing them a favor because if you're gonna wake up every day going, "I can't believe we're sharing beds." And it's day three, nobody's gonna want to hear it. Even though I agree with you. Also, not everyone's gonna share bets. Can you just try to tilt the scales and have the work friends share a bed? Who's got the least pull? There's no way that they would get book a house where every single one of these 14 dudes has to share a bed. And if they are booking a house with seven bedrooms for 14 guys, again, that goes back to the top and the best man needs a, you know, I guess deposits are made, but that's crazy. - What about this? 'Cause we've done, I don't know if this exists, but it does exist for like traveling with kids. Like, you know, we would rent like a pack and play or you know, you rent toys for the beach or whatever if you got vacation. Could you just rent like an air mattress or something and just load up yourself and I don't know, post up somewhere you want to post up? Like is that, is it that hard? Or you just buy one? I don't know. - I think the air mattress market has come down in the last few years. You could probably find one with the little motor in it, too, for, do you know what I mean? - Yeah. - than you expect. I got one here. - And me, too. - Never used it. - Yeah. - Oh. - I haven't used it. Air mattress, it did feel like that moment has passed. - Absolutely. I think there was a big like, yeah, it's just great. You have cousins over, you have everybody over. Here you go, you sleep on the floor. Let me get this machine going. I guess it's better than, right? - We're in the middle of that though. 'Cause like we're at the capacity of the house with for like bed space and so when we have people over the air mattress comes out a lot. - Oh yeah. So I've been on the air mattress a few times since I moved back. - Yeah. - And it's not bad. - No complaints. I think they've gotten better. - Technology. - Yeah. - We'll be right back after a quick word from our sponsors. - On Game Day gets substacked high at Jersey mics. Like the number 13 original Italian loaded with meats, cheese and toppings or the number 56 big kahuna cheese steak with grilled steak, peppers, onions and mushrooms topped with jalapenos and melty cheese. Get your sub-fix on Game Day in order in store or the Jersey mics app. - All right. 20 year gap in relationship with a married woman. Uh-oh. There we go. 28, five foot five, but I tell people I'm five six. 175, no gym stats, but 5K time is 32 minutes. Two years ago I moved back to my hometown after eight years away from home, the military. I met this woman at a bar and had it one night stand. One week later she calls us and she wants to meet again sober. I go and come to find out she's 20 years older than me and married. I thought it would just be a quick summer fling. We did hikes every other week in the summer. So she could get away from her family, spend time each week. What? Just so she could get away from her family. Yeah, I guess that structure of that sentence is like, do you like hiking or do you hate your family? I kind of took it as both somewhere in the middle. - She's willing to do anything just to get away yet. - Yeah. - Maybe she hates hiking. - Yeah. - Gotta keep this guy on the hook. It's like, all right, we're going to do a car wash for what have you raised the money for? I don't know. I don't know. It's going to be four hours better. - You guys were on a half marathon tomorrow. I've never done that before, but I'm just going to get out of the house. - I'm thinking about fishing a lot lately. All right. So she could get away from her family and spend time with each other a few times a week. All right. The summer ended in our relationship. Oh wait, the summer ended in our relationship. Didn't, we kept doing our best to see each other. And now after two years of being together, she's finalized or divorced. Now that it is final, she is worried that she's too far committed with me and made comments about how she has been single since being 20, so that's 28 years. Well, sure feels like she's been single the last couple of years, buddy. All right, that she's missing out on it along with that she tells me I could move on to find some of my age and that she is ruining my life. She's worried about losing me, but also wants to enjoy the single life after 23 years of marriage. She's trying to get me an out by throwing everything on in my life, by taking away the potential to have kids of my own, spending my time in my 30s with someone in their 50s, et cetera. I don't want to leave her, but what should I do? All right. Well, it sounds like you want kids, so if you're going to have to leave her. - Yep. - It also sounds like if you take too long, she's just going to do what she was doing with you with someone else anyway. It sounds like if you don't get with the program, you're just going to be like getting less texts and what are you waiting at the trailhead alone one day. - That's a good guy. - That white line out of your backpack, just have it yourself. Does it feel like she's a little narcissistic on this? And in a totally understandable way, is that she's been with the same guy. Well, except for the two years she's been with you. So prior to this, whatever this two years thing is, she was with the same guy for almost 30 years. So from 20 to 28, so now she's 50, and you're not even 30 yet. But I don't necessarily blame her for kind of looking at it this way, but this whole like I'm ruining your life. It's like, hey, can you fuck off? Like allow me to make decisions on what I prefer or don't prefer. And if you want kids, you know that you can't stay with her.
but this, oh, I'm ruining your life, I'm ruining your life. Like, some of these people could be like really dramatic when they haven't actually experienced, they haven't been in the wild for a long time. So, I don't know. - I think she's the way she's talking to him. It seems like she just thinks she's so much smarter than him. And I don't know if she ever actually looked at you like a real person, you know what I mean? - I don't get that guy. - I got someone on her level where she's just like, well, now that I'm like, away from this guy who is on my life, I can't start this thing up with you. You're fucking 22, man. What are we gonna talk about? I think, and like, that's why her reasoning, she's just throwing a bunch of shit, she's like, oh, he'll buy this one, you know what I mean? Like that's such, I'm ruining your life. Maybe you could just chalk it up to Narcissism, but it almost just seems like this one will definitely get him. Like, she's just throwing out a bunch of shit to get you to back off, man. - I gotta say this again. I actually think it's kind of respectable that she's saying this, like, she probably picks up that you're way more into this than she is, unfortunately. And, you know, it's easy to have an affair with somebody, but then like, when it's just you two, and it's like, hey, we could actually do this thing. Like, it's not really the same, unfortunately. So I'm not trying to like be Debbie Downer for our guy, but I kind of respect that she's like, hey, this is kind of where I'm at. Like, you shouldn't do this, because I don't think this is what, that don't think this is what ultimately make you happy. Now, you can make your own decisions and pursue me, and that's fine, and we can keep doing our thing, but like, I don't think that you're gonna be happy long term if you stay with me. I think that's actually kind of respectable. And yeah, she's kind of letting you down easy, I think she's just trying to like feed you these things to kind of help you realize that yourself, but she's kind of right, I think. So I guess I'll zag. I kind of respect the mood for her. It's like a nice way of sort of soft breaking up, and being like, hey, this isn't gonna be a thing. I didn't break up. I didn't get divorced to be with you. So, right, I mean, this is just for the hiking. But you know what I mean, it's easy for her to just be like, oh, I'm Mary, but I'm just gonna hook up with this guy. But now, once it's the two of them, that's maybe not what she wants, unfortunately, for our guy here. Yeah, right. No, I think that's well said as well as that, now that it's real, like this isn't just waiting for the paperwork to become official and all this stuff. It's like, okay, now it's real. Now I can start doing all this stuff. I mean, ultimately you have to kind of decide like, how important a kid's to you. And if kids are so important, you're gonna lose their relationship, which you should, 'cause you shouldn't be spending the rest of your life going, oh, I wish I'd had kids, but I decided to lock in with the wrong person, you know? So anyway, all right, we got something else here. This one was so, this one was such a weird email. I don't even think I'm ready to read it right now. 'Cause I've been at late summer email. No, I like, it didn't make any sense. And then I was reading it as it was two guys. And I was like, all right, you know, like this guy was interested in this other guy. And I was reading it and I'm going, "God, this is so strange." And then I realized it was a woman who wrote the email. So I was like, okay, that made more sense. - That's fair that you would default to a man sending me email to life advice. - That's totally fair. It was actually, could I just, quick aside, Jonathan, who is the main guy at the USGA. He was like, I was talking for a while, and he called his way over. And he was like, "Hey, do you recognize Seroody's voice?" Basically, like, "Hey, I put this on against your will, listening to this in the car a lot." And I was like, "Yeah, yeah, no, that's me, sorry." - Exactly, that's the play. That's exactly how it always goes. Apologies that we have to listen to this against your will, but that's how it is. But she was nice, but it was fun. - Well, that's good. All right, I'll do this quick one. 20 years old, five, 11 and a half, shifty point guard who plays like a love child and Doug Martin and Pete Maravitch. Okay? Ever since freshman year of college, my close friends and I had an ongoing bet where each person picks a team from the four major leagues in America. If the team you select wins a championship, then you get a tattoo of their logo. It's been a fun side bet to keep the group chat flowing until two weeks ago, only one guy won this bet with the Florida Panthers in 23 and 24. He got the tattoo later that year. The subject of this email got cute. And pick the next claiming they were cursed. He looked like the smartest guy in the room until he wasn't between Eastern Converter and NBA Finals. He lets some of the group know he's backing out, citing these reasons that he does not list on the email. - Okay. Well, it doesn't really matter what the reasons were though. - Just to get this correct, you pick a team that you don't think is gonna win years ago. - Right. - And then if they ever do win, you have to get a tattoo. - Wait, they don't pick every year or they pick it, they pick a new one every year. Isn't that what he said? - I feel like you couldn't do it every year 'cause you would just pick like the Kings. - You would just pick the Browns and the Kings and the, yeah, okay. - You wouldn't pick the Nix with four guys. - Well, if you picked it once and like 15 year eggs go by, I think you'd get more and more dropouts. I mean, if you're saying we gotta lay down the law pretty hard, the only other guy who did it, got the Florida Panthers tattoo. Like, I understand there need to wanna push this and be like, no, you're getting the tattoo or we're gonna get a mobile tattoo unit. - Bring it to you, I mean, bring it to you. I understand that, but I think eventually, he's not gonna be the only guy that backs out. I think the older you get, the less explainable those things are, you know, either significant others or whatever. - That's in the years like 2060 and the Sacramento Kings win the NBA title and it's like, hey, your guys are in your 70s. Like, hey, man, air is glue, like you said it. - And that's awesome. - 2020. - That is awesome. I get why that would totally fall apart by then. It sounds like this tradition is still young enough that you really want, like, you really wanna keep it alive but I think eventually this is gonna have to fall away. But I totally respect the other need to like, see if you can make this guy get the tattoo. I would be on your side at 32, you know, I don't know at 42. I might be like, all right, fine. I wanna know the guy who doesn't wanna get the next tattoo, how into it was when the other guy got the Florida Panthers tattoo. - All the way. - Right. - Right. Credit card was sick until, you know. Like whenever I watched Jackass and all the stuff, I always felt like Bam was so willing to, like, you could lose a limb and he'd be okay with it. - Yes. - But then the minute you fucked with Bam, then he was kinda like, dude, that's not cool. Like, that's my house or like, that's the snake thing. - Yes. - I used to, I don't know him at all, I don't care. I have certain guys on Jackass, I like better than others, but that always annoyed me about Bam is that he always was the guy that wanted everyone else's limits to be pushed. But then once it came back on him, he was like way more like, all right, wait a minute. And I would, I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. I noticed it a lot. - I think you're right. - And it's, and whenever I think of like, friend groups with that dynamic, if the next guy was so happy that the Florida Panthers guy was getting the tattoo, look, he's not gonna get a tattoo. You can't physically make him get a tattoo, but if he doesn't want to get it, and he was the guy that was so excited about the, I still don't understand what this game is. It seems really stupid, guys, on top of everything else. - You got to pick one team forever, that's crazy. - The next, yeah, I have picks too. - The next, like, yeah, there's four guys, and the next got picked, that seems insane. I mean, right, like, wouldn't you pick, I'm trying to think, like, wouldn't you pick the wizards? I'm sure they got picked, but there's like, I think of four teams I'd pick before I pick the next. - And you got four major sports picks. - Four major sports picks, like, yeah. - Yeah, that's what I don't understand either, is that is each guy picking one team of the four major sports? Wasn't a very good email. - Yeah. - He didn't even, he didn't even give us the reasons why the next guy was opting out. So, I would want to follow up though, I'd want to know more about this, so maybe we could do this Wednesday. - Yeah, maybe Wednesday, we'll have some more clarity. All right, that'll do it for us. Thank you to everybody on the show, Tom Kevin Kyle, and Saruti, we'll be back Wednesday. We've got Keegan Bradley, who we had last year. - That's right, followed him around. He came on last year, he won a Connecticut, and we got Jay Billis wrapping up the first round of the NBA draft, so I can't wait to talk draft. So, all that'll be coming in the way. Think we get Danny McBride coming on the show too, as well, this week. So, again, yeah, look out, Kyle, cut chemist. And if the flights can work out, Trishel from the rule of Vegas, no, nothing, okay. - All right, I might cherry pick some Eastbound before he gets on. - Yeah, I might do that. I just could do those bloopers all day long. I'm gonna be sitting there. And if the flights can work out, Daniel Day Lewis, all right, that'll do it for the show. Grindr is still a show of our sports. (upbeat music) - See you. (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
