Getting Way Too Comfortable on Brooke’s Couch

The podcast episode is a lively, personal, and sensory-rich conversation recorded live from the host’s couch, blending humor, vulnerability, and reflection. The host recounts a chaotic evening marked by a strange sensation in her throat, spilled drinks, and a cat-filled apartment, setting a tone of warmth and spontaneity. She shares excitement about upcoming book events and a romance panel, highlighting her passion for storytelling and connection. A central theme is the emotional power of unexpected moments—like a 3 a.m. DM from Colleen Hoover inviting someone to a premiere—illustrating how genuine, unplanned interactions can create deep bonds. The host also reflects on sensory sensitivity, from the discomfort of a spider on her neck to the emotional weight of a song that evokes feelings of impermanence. Throughout, she balances personal anecdotes with thoughtful commentary on presence, authenticity, and self-awareness. The episode is enriched by sponsor spots promoting comfort (Lola blankets), financial tools (Cash App), fashion (Fab Lettics), and lifestyle choices (Newly), all framed within the host’s personal experiences. Ultimately, it captures the joy of lived moments, the value of unexpected connections, and the comfort found in simple, shared human experiences.

Did you see that I spilled John and Vinnie's all over the couch? Few nights ago, I'm asking you like in a podcasting way. Oh, hi, welcome back to Broken Corner, make a podcast. Today we're coming at you from Brooks couch. Why? Oh my gosh, I almost did something bad. Me too. Almost no. I'm sorry, I was sucking my cough drop in a way that's like, I'm not on the microphone, but I am. And I did try to do this with how to cough drop and it wasn't possible because there's, like, feels like there's a small hair in my throat, but I think it's just my throat. Oh, what a time. We're coming at you live from Brooks couch today because Brooke will be out of town shortly. Going to New York. So jealous. First, I'm like, it's not hitting me that, like, it's going to be fall in New York. Like I forget that's a, that's a thing. It's an option we have. That's an option. So I'm going to get to do that, which I'm really excited about. Um, doing some book crap and stuff I'm excited for. What are you doing? I have a book event in Long Island on Thursday. And then I have a meet and greet at the ripped bodice on Friday. And then on Saturday, I have Ram Khan, which is a romance fest double. Wow. I wonder about wrong. Ram Khan. Yeah. It's with this publisher, eight, three, one, and they make like short romance stories and they're so good. So I'll be on a panel. You're going to be on a panel. I'll be on a friggin panel. What are you going to do on the panel? Are they going to ask you questions? No, I actually think it's more of a, like, mock debate is one of the cats doing something. No, they're, I mean, they're just going bananas over there. Yeah. Yeah. They might. They're playing in that pile trash. Yeah. They love trash. The apartment is trash mountain right now. So I just want to move. I think there's an extra cat that just came out of that bag. I honestly just want to move. One time I swear to God in the middle of the night, there were three cats in here. And this was not when I was fostering. Middle of the night, I come out to see something just, something had shattered completely. Three cats. Sometimes I hope my car gets stolen, so I don't have to go to Goodwill and drop off my donations. Do you know that, like, you can sometimes get those picked up? I couldn't allow myself to do that because to me, I'm like, you're such a lazy person. Oh, I'm fine. Go to Goodwill and you are able to do that. I'm not. Then I'll be honest about that. I'm not. I went to the UPS. Sorry. Yesterday, which was unbelievable. UPS is a very, actually, actually, yeah, UPS FedEx, both of the stores have curated a very specific type of experience that you can only get when you are shipping out a small parcel. And it's 17 people in line. One employee that is extremely nice to where it kind of, like, numbs all of the horrible experience. Like, the same playlist that they played on the radio in 2013. It's that playlist, but kind of in an eerie way. There's Katy Perry on it. The fray. Yeah. Me too. You know what I listen to the other day? Don't stop getting distracted by them. They're just going to keep doing it. Okay. Just ignore them. All right. Five for fighting. What's that? You only got a hundred years to live. That song is one of, that's one of the, what, I remember my dad hearing that song, being like, what the hell? I'm past like half of these ages. That sucks. Wait. Is that the one? 16 in this. Yes. 16 for a moment. That song is utter bullshit. It's like, it's upsetting. It's such a rude awakening. I don't, you know what? I think that that song is a little ages, like, I'm 16. What is he doing at 16? Forget. For a moment. Do you want me to pull up the lyrics? Yeah. Let's review the things that he seems to be alluding to only, only being able to happen at 16. Hundred years, five for fighting. I'm 15 for a moment. Okay. Yeah. Caught in between 10 and 20. Yeah. Three men, counting the ways to where you are. There. Who? Probably his crush. Yeah. I'm 22 for a moment. That's a good idea. She feels better than ever. And we're on fire, making our way back from Mars. It's starting to lose me. Me too. 15, there's still time for you, time to buy and time to lose. 15, there was never a wish better than this when you only got a hundred years to live. So kind of just saying, like, hey, everything feels like the end of the world at 15 and you're genuinely okay. I think he's trying to say, like, you're 15, man, calm down. I don't remember. Because the course is like 15. There's still time for you. It does go back to 15 because you'll blink and it's like all of a sudden you're 33, all of a sudden you're six. There's nothing wrong. You're 99 for a moment, dying for just another moment. Oh, wow. I've goose chills. I'm 99 for a moment, I'm dying for just another moment and I'm just dreaming counting the ways to where you are. So at every age, at the beginning and at the end, he was counting the ways to where you are. I wish that song would have never come out. I don't like that. That's. I think that's it. You know what's so always a mystic way of looking at things. You know, I think it's a, like, cease the moment because it'll be gone or you know it. So you think you would get along with that? Classic. Like, there's two ways to look at life. Everything matters. Nothing matters. Type of five. Oh, wow. Brook. Yeah. It's always comes back to that dichotomy, the dichotomy of a life. I'm just getting annoyed because it seems like five or five. You might be the type of person that's just like, be present, you know, like that. I don't get along with people that like remind me of mantras. I think you're, you're thinking of the people when you're like, I'm anxious and they're just like, be present. No, I'm thinking about the people that are genuinely right, but it's annoying to acknowledge at the right. Yeah. Like, people that are like, I'm in really good shape because I work out four times a week and I eat healthy. And then when I start to do that, I'm like, oh, my God, they're right, but I'm not going to tell them that. Because I don't, you don't need another when. Yeah. Those kind of people. I'm trying to think of an annoying reminder that I, I am told, I feel like you get those a lot because you stress about things that are like, and I do this too, both of us will stress about things that are like objectively good things. And I feel like we get reminders a lot that are like, this is a good thing. And I, that's annoying because it's like, well, I'm still stressed about it. Perspective. Yeah. Oh, yeah, she just kind of feels like, uh, bad rest vibes. I love bad rest. It feels like Charlie or Willy Wonka on the top of the factory. Mm-hmm. Do you think people will enjoy this? They usually, they used to like the couch episodes. Yeah, they did. But usually that's because we are not able to sit up today. That's why that's what we had. Oh, no. What? You spilled? No, I just can't finish my sentence and I'm out of things to talk about. How far are we? Broke their half of what we've done today is look over towards the cat. No, that's just you. I'm being stung by something. Oh, you're, how do you, how do you buy? Oh, my back. Come on, my back. Come on, lower back. Let me see. No, that was funny. Why? Because it's just like, oh, no, it's just like when you're sitting on the couch, like, I'd be stung by something. So what it happened was I took state of fact and felt really weird. And then I took this weed drink because there was something in my throat. So I just kept chugging and chugging because it was so cute. So I chugged it so fast. Oh, Lord. No, that was honestly, I'm fine. Good. You want me to tell you about a few things that I have to tell you about? Yeah, please. Well, first of all, let me play this thing for you. There is still something weird in my throat. It's like a hair Let me play you this thing. You know how like a smell will like Look at like that a smell will like bring you right back in a crazy way sure I Heard this sound the other day and it brought me back to such a specific moment in time And I think it will bring all of us back in a crazy way. Are you ready? How are you gonna show me a smell? Did I say I meant I said sound You're gonna play me a sound. Yeah, that's remind me of a smell No, I said do you know how smells bring you back to something? Oh, yes Maybe I didn't connect the bridge So in this in the same way I heard a song you know smells me bad. So we check this out And the same way I heard a song and it brought me back so much that and I think we'll bring you right back Are you ready? Yeah, you know smells for you back check this out Where's my dad To be here on my Yo, he unfollowed me on it. Yeah, did you unfollow him back? No, I Should something sweet about you is that when someone unfollows you you don't unfollow back No, I don't really it doesn't really hurt my family, especially if like I sense that we had a really real connection I get if someone follows me back. It's like you're dead to me in real life as well I'm sorry someone unfollows me. It's like you're dead to me in real life as well You had the other thing happened to where when someone hasn't followed you back yet And if I follow and unfollow and follow and unfollow and unfollow and then I hate them In the real life - there's one person who's done several horrible things To and around me mm-hmm who I have followed They never falling back and I I care more that they never fall of me back than all of the heinous things that they did Yeah, they've been unfollowed. That's good. Yeah If my throat didn't feel like there was something in it, I would be fine So are you not fine right now? It's just like I there's like it feels like there's like a little hair Would it help to know that there's not a little hair in there? It's like something like bothering me That's a non-sequator It's it To me I I'm seeing if I get slipped that in I don't know what it how to use it. I just I don't really either But I don't think that that was it. What do you what did you say easy? To find non-sequator It's like a non-sequator. It's like a Fritz Bernace like that type of thing. It's like It's a Fritz Bernace type of thing The dress from bridesmaid. Yeah, it's like you just throw it in the sentences a non-sequator. Yeah, it's like Like in the same exact way that I would say it's a Fritz Bernace. Just again on. Oh, it's a non-sequator Necessary addition. It's a non-sequator So the little hair in your throat It's a non-sequator. Right Okay So I what I wanted to tell you is that I saw you can see everything Yeah, Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes documentary. I like that. I did we bring Elizabeth Holmes back into the like ice or was it She's been definitely back. Okay, but I don't think we had any anything to do with that and the movie was so insane that I keep forgetting that Nathan Fielder was in my theater at the beginning of it Like I keep actively forgetting that because like the movie was so insane that that's what I'm thinking about. The movie was that insane It was insane enough to make me forget that Nathan Fielder intro to it because he was just walking around the grove on opening night popping in the theaters Wow What was the it was what was the premise of the movie I still don't get you should last like there you should it is That's that's how it starts is Nathan's basically like living with her and just filming everything in the last 30 days that he has why I'm going to jail. If I may why would Elizabeth Holmes whose honor way to jail Agreed to let Nathan Fielder of all people on the planet To make this documentary and then two without getting this away Did he pitch it to her in a way where it was like let me paint you in a light that will make Public perception like more more well more more open to you when you get out or if you get out or will this help her case or will this help her case at all I have answers to both of the questions, but I'm not going to answer you because they are questions that are explored in the film Conor this is going to get nominated for best picture period Really the way that my brick like my brain hurts so badly thinking about what I saw and this is a movie that I will see in theaters up to five times because it's like that was like Just like the preliminary viewing like I need to go back. There's so many threads that I need to follow That you need to go back and see it like 18 times to follow all of the different threads and I'm bringing a notebook Megan started taking notes in the middle of the movie she pulled out an notebook. Oh, it's like really impossible to have a conversation about this movie that you saw. - I'm just telling you to go see it. - I know, I wanna go see it. Everyone-- - Here's what I'll say. It kind of turned into an episode of the rehearsal. And you might be thinking like, how does a documentary turn into an episode of the rehearsal? Go see it. - I think you'll-- - What's the rehearsal? - They think it's the second show? - The one I didn't like. - Yeah, where he like, rehearses every single. - Like the flight simulation? Oh, I didn't like that one. I'm really nervous 'cause everyone I've talked to really, really, really likes this film. Like all my Austin friends went and saw it and they said that it was just like phenomenal. Immediately after they were like, everyone goes see that right now. - I've never heard anything bad. - I'm sure. - I don't have the same thing for Nathan Fields or that everybody else does. And I don't like that about myself, but like not that I dislike him. I just like genuinely, like Tim Robinson, his stuff. - Yeah, it's not the same. - I think it's because I have like sensory issues. And Tim Robinson triggers my sensory issues 'cause he's so loud. He reminds me of fireworks. - Nathan's not loud though. - Nathan makes me viscerally feel uncomfortable. - He doesn't. - I know that's the point. - I know he's more, he's not like the Nathan Fielder of Nathan for you in this. He's just like a being. He's a super person. - Like he's not trying to make you uncomfortable. - For the most part. - What can you, what can you tell me? 'Cause I, I know you don't want to give anything away. Is this like? - It's not that there's any, there's like not that much to even give away. It's just like, I can't even explain it 'cause I don't know anything. Like, you don't know, you don't know. - I came out of that with so many more questions. But you know she fully believes she's innocent. And like that's what she's trying to show. - That's what she wanted. - That was my, that was the first question. - Yeah, yeah. - And you think that she thought that this would. - She didn't know who Nathan was at all. - Her husband wanted Nathan. - So is he, is her husband like a goofball? - What, I don't know if I'd say goofball? I would, this is where I would say, go, go see the movie. - My gosh bro. - Yeah, sorry, that's annoying, but like, I mean, just wow. - Really? Okay. - Yes. - I am gonna see it. - And he was in my theater? Wow, just wow. So now I'm gonna pivot. - Okay. - When Colleen Hoover invited Becca Moore to go to the premiere, was that that movie? - So yes, for those of you that don't know, Becca posted like a while ago, Becca Moore, like an interaction that she had with Nathan in Airwan. And she is a. - What was the interaction she had with Nathan? - It was like, I forget what the interaction was, but it was honestly flirty. In a way that I was like, definitely very jealous about. Like it was definitely flirty. And then Nathan just never answered her DMs. And so she was like heartbroken, of course, that they went no contact is what she calls it. And so she's posted about Nathan a lot. Colleen must have seen that. Colleen DMs her at like three in the morning and is like, I don't know who you are or where you live or anything, but if you wanna come as my plus one to the premiere of you can see everything, that option is available to you. Becca happened to be awake at 3 AM, saw that message and drove to JFK in an Uber. So someone drove her. And then she just flew to New York to be Colleen's plus one for the premiere. - She drove to JFK to fly to New York. - So. (laughing) No. She actually drove to. She got an Uber to go to LA at. - Okay. - To go to New York. - Gotcha. - Yeah. - Turplight. - It was an easy trip. And so now she's best friends with Colleen Uber. But she didn't knock out to meet Nathan. - So that was just an act of goodwill on Colleen's part? - Yes. - Okay. - Colleen, like, when I like speak about my relationship with Colleen, you have to understand like, she's what got me back into reading when I was 16. And I was obsessed with her in high school. And so I know quite a bit about her personality. Like, she's very like, do it for the plot. Like, like, she's really interesting. What weird person in an amazing way. - Yeah. I could not read her vibe and back as real as she posted. - She's, she's really interesting. I think everyone tries to paint her as like, this like very like millennial cringe. But like, I don't get that vibe from her. I think she's genuinely weird. In a way that I like. - I was getting lesbian. - Not a lesbian. - Yeah. - You're forebacker? - Yeah. - Oh, I wasn't getting that. - Rewatch the video with that, with that. - Right. - I didn't watch everything in full 'cause there's Mehimi jealous. - Of who? - Just everyone. I mean, that would be, that's kind of like your perfect day. That would be DM from Colleen Hoover at, not 3 a.m., 'cause you-- - I mean, I wouldn't have gone, is the thing. - Yeah, you would have. - You think I would have, in the middle of the night, just left the cats and gone to New York to maybe meet Nathan Fielder? - No. - With Colleen and saying to her hotel room? - No, I would not have done that. Colleen was someone that I liked, I liked a lot when I was a younger person. - If-- - It's not like it, if it was Sarah J. Mass wanting me to say in her hotel, I would be like, yeah, I'm on my way. - Really? - Yeah. - Oh, absolutely, yes. - Okay. Well-- - I'm trying to think of who would I go to New York for at 3 a.m., if Nathan asked me directly, yeah. I would go to Colleen, like in LA, I wouldn't get on the plane for Colleen. - You would not get on the plane for Colleen. - No. - I'm not sure why that's shocking, yeah. - I might even do that for Colleen over, yeah. - Why? - I don't really know. - I want to be friends, but I'm not gonna do 3 a.m. - I'm trying to think of someone who I wouldn't get on the flight at 3 a.m. to go see. - What? - I think I would, anybody-- - With a following. - 'Cause I'm a cloud chaser. - Yeah. - Name a person and I'll tell you if I would fly at 3 a.m. to go see them. - Cross country, Nathan Fielder. - Yeah. - What are you doing with him? Like, can you set the scene a little bit more? - Help. - Okay. - What did they do? Meet me at JFK, like-- - 10 a.m. Okay, I'm coming. - Wait, sorry, can you try it over? - Surprise day, surprise day. - Surprise, so this celebrity DM you at three in the morning when you happen to be awake and said, "Get on the plane right now for our surprise day." (laughing) And so now I'm asking you like, like would you do for this person? So you would do surprise day when they could feel their cross-country surprise day. Would you do it for? And this is also when you get content. Like would you do this without, I think this is an important part of the puzzle. Would you do without content? Just for the plot and type of story, you cannot even get a pick with Nathan. - Nathan, yes. - Okay, Colleen Hoover. - Yeah. - You would cross-country in the middle of the night if I spend a surprise day with Colleen Hoover for no content. Do you, are you in love with Colleen Hoover? - She's gonna wake her to like her. - Yeah. - Yeah, I would. If I had nothing else going on. - Well then I would be really upset and jealous and then I would come if you were there. - You mean Colleen? Vegas, you ready? Thank you so much, ready. - Definitely. I've watched probably seven movies this weekend. I've not moved from the spot. It's wet, like wet. - From like body oles. - I watch Shrek 1, Shrek 2, Shrek 3. Wicked. New Moon Eclipse. - This random movie, I googled what is a movie like the sick sense and there was one called The Others with the Cold Kidman. Have you heard of that or seen that? - No. - What is it? - There's like a, it's old. It's like a World War II ghost movie. - Did you spill your drink? - No, I've done. - What, did you spill your drink? No, I'm done. - Are you done your drink? - Yeah, I finished it. - Did you? - Yes. - Wow. Um, what was I saying? - Oh, The Others. - There's like a sixth sense twist in it, but because I googled it, what movie is like the sixth sense? I knew there was a sixth sense twist coming, and so it was obvious. - It was less of a fifth sense twist. - It was total, yeah, it was a fifth sense vibe. So that was cool. - Sometimes the smell can just bring you back. - Do you mind if I play you this smell? - That has, that's an invisible string. We're always talking about, I wish that I'd get to send people smells. - Yeah. - What smell would you send Colleen Hoover? - You could. - Probably the smell of like a wicker basket. Like a really good wicker basket. - Are you thinking of the movie wicker coming out? - No, broke, but I'm glad you brought that up. - Colleen, that movie is about this woman having sex with a wicker basket. - You are, you are so sexual towards Colleen. You're gonna send Colleen a wicker. Wicker the movie starring Conor and Colleen. - Dedication night to Colleen. - I don't know what staff say, it's a little wicker brisk group. - Wicker basket sounds like a slar. - I know. Oh, no, I just thought that she might enjoy like a strong wicker. - Man. - Okay. Sounds good. (laughing) - Right with chalk on the bottom of pottery. - Ooh, yeah. - It's like making my ears hurt. - That sucks. - Yeah, that is a bad one. - It's making my ears bubble up. - I don't like that feeling of when you get stung on the couch. - Oh, I hate that feeling. - If you know, you know. - Oh my gosh, I went to a party the other night. - Where? - At Shetoba Mall. - Who's party? - Who what where? - Oh my God, that's amazing. - Dylan picked me up. - That is so swag. - Yeah, I went for photos. That was where I'm at. - Eany. - Estee? - Estee, Hyme. - I'm so jealous. And she's so cool, hugged me, squeezed me tight. It was really great. - What'd you say? - I was just talking to me how tall she was. And she was like, well, look at my shoes and they were freaking huge. They were like candlesticks, big, long, huge, massive things. And I was like, my God, that's crazy. I'm where, and I was wearing boots. And I was like, I'm still like genuinely eight inches shorter than you, right now. And the music was loud, so I didn't, she was DJing 'cause I don't, I don't know. - Yeah. - I know what she was saying. - She was very cool, but she was great. But I was talking to Joey. Joey was there. And he joined, no. - Love Joey. - And you know. - Love Joey and Dylan. - It was great. Chelsea was there, Sierra was there. Let's see. But I'm, Joey was talking about how they take your phone during traders. I was at you, or was it me, you and Joey. - So that was me, you and Joey. - When, oh yeah, it was. So that was that conversation. But he had said that about the like, when you don't have your phone and there's a moment of silence, you don't think to grab your phone in the moment of silence, you know. - Right, you engage in the conversations. - So yeah. And so at this thing, I'm noticing like, nobody at this party is on their phone at all. It's like a very cool looking people. I was like, in line to get a drink by myself. And I'm like, I'm just gonna stand here and not look at my phone. And it was not easy. - And I kept going, it was wearing like a blazer. And it was like writing on my neck. Like a lot, it was kind of bugging me. And it would really maybe want to get out my phone. So I was like, oh no, now my clothes are bugging me. It like keeps touching my neck. And finally, I started talking to these two young women. And they were really cool. And I was like, cool, like this is, this is me meeting people because I'm not on my phone. 'Cause it easily could have done it. And one of the young women goes, oh my God, oh my God, there's a spider on your neck. And that was a feeling that I was feeling. And I went like this. Like, you know, when you have a, 'cause you don't wanna like push it, like smoosh it on you. Like this, I'm up close next to the bar and thud of a spider. Like, it flew off, it landed on the bar. It's one of those with like the big egg sack back. You know what I mean? Not like a big flat spider, but like big like. - Egg sack? - Like big fat ass on the spider. And then the bartender's like, get it. I was like, no. I did have it, and now it's yours. Spider on my neck at Chateau Mamon. - Did you kill it? - What? - The bumblebee on your arm, I thought that was it. - Honour. (laughs) (laughs) - Ooh, that scared me a lot. - Well, thank you. - For what? - The music. - What are you talking about? - I was supposed to go to San Diego on Friday. - You did go to San Diego on the day. - I didn't. - Did you guys lie? - No, we were on the way to San Diego because I was moderating an event for an author, I love Iman who you know who moderated my New York event. And about halfway there, the fires. - In like, San Clemente, right? - Yeah, I was right there, and then the fires erupted, and then we just turned around and the event was canceled. - Wow. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Isn't that kind of crazy? - That is kind of crazy. - And we were like, there was big debate on like, should we cancel or not? Because my, the month was coming from L.A. to San Diego and her train up and turned around, back to L.A. And my ETA, I had like an hour left in the dry. - Her train turned around? - Her train. - That was a train turned around. - She said her train was turned around, but she, I know she got off in this like middle of, I don't even know. But. Sorry, my brain's moving a little slow. - I'm barely keeping up. (laughing) - So my ETA went from one hour to four and I was just like, I don't think that I can do that. And I don't think there's no guarantee that I'd be able to make it home that night. And I'm really glad we ended up canceling because I wouldn't have been able to make it home because they closed the freeways. - They closed like PCH? - No, the five. I'm not super, super familiar with the five. - I think I take the five to go down to like Newport. - Orange County. - Orange County. - Yeah, that's kind of where I was. I went to, we stopped at the stationery shop in this town in Santa Ana and I felt like I was not in this country. Like I can't explain it. It felt like a video game. It felt like a video game town. I wasn't in the world, I was in a video game. - What do you mean? - It was just like, it was like a 2D town. - 2D? - Yeah, like 2D, 2D town talk? - No, like 2D. - Oh, 2D. - It was like, just like it felt like I was in a book. - The town was flat? - I can't explain it. It just felt like it was like either flat or made of cardboard. Like a set. - I just didn't feel, yes. - Exactly. I love when you do that. - Oh, like a set. - It was like a set, it was a movie set. - Are you pretty? - It was just like, not real. I wish I had the word, the word. So to describe that town without being disrespectful. - Sexy bitch. - Yeah. - Damn, she's a sexy bitch. - That's one of my favorite, I made a video about this, but that's one of my favorite creative visions that someone could have for Acon to be like, I met this girl the other day and he's telling his friend, I met this girl the other day. His friend's like, was she cool? What did she, was she just like really stunning and pretty? No, no, come on man, I just want an example of like, what was her vibe? You know, I'm just trying to find the words to describe her. Certain joy to weave, but I don't want to be disrespectful. She was kind of like a sexy bitch. - You had me so locked in during that. Like you were recounting a genuine conversation that you had and I was like, well, like what will he say? What will he say now? - Let me try to think of a conversation I've had. - Ooh. - Ooh, that could be really good. For all of the conversation you've had. - That could be arranged. Well, since we can't do a dancing with the stars, recap, we can do a dancing with the stars. How are you feeling anticipating this week? - Yeah, wow. - And then this comes out, it will be over. - Yeah, good call. - So you can say whatever. - So it is Sunday, we had rehearsal this morning and it was great, we had a long rehearsal yesterday. Over five hour practice and I really like this dance. There's very specific things that like I had to hone in and like that helps me so much. And I can like see it now, you know? Like you weirdly want to keep your butt in. - Yeah. - Which is weird living in a society where like we put so much value on big butt. - Like out facing butt. - Yeah, a more forward-facing backward-facing butt. You want to see like fat ass is a term of endearment now. And not in ballroom, you want to talk to that thing. - Yeah. - You need to talk on the dance floor. - You have to genuinely cleanse your cheeks hard. - Yeah. - And hard. - Is it so much clenching as it is sucking it inward? - Like, it's like one in the same. I'm not like clinging my-- - You're not clinging your cheeks together. Or are you? - No, it's my cheeks. - Is it your cheeks? I figured you just kind of have to orient everything. - Is it your cheeks? - I love zucchini. - I figured you just kind of had to like rust inward more. - Can I show you? - I love it. - Oh, this is gonna be funky. - Is it? - Are you gonna get on a knee? - I'm gonna sweat. - I'm gonna sweat, sorry y'all. - Usually I get a little more dressed up for the pod. - Yeah, you can stand up. Do we have a wide? - Can we see his-- - Yeah. So it's more like, "Whee-hee." (laughing) - Do you know what I mean? - You need to hit those notes perfectly. - Do you know what I mean? - Yeah, but it's not like that. - No, 'cause he is on your toes. - But it's a flat footed he. - It's not a he at all. And I'll just show you why. - It's a flat footed one. - Because you're in a plie here and forward to keep the butt tucked. But does that make sense? Anyways, well you wanna move like, I don't know the words to describe this girl. You're like moving with your hips, you're like hips forward, your body is not forward. And to ensure that you do that. - I don't understand how it's not a he flat footed. - I'm gonna show you off camera. I'm gonna just watch this, 'cause it. - When you hit that he he. The way that you hit that he he blew me away. - Like, you say they'd have my heel on the ground so I'd have like, wait in my heel. - Maybe I can do it on the hardwood. I'm not sitting. But basically I'm here and I'm moving like, with this forward, like your pelvis forward. - With what? Yes, I got it. - Your pelvis forward, but I don't think like, when Michael did the he he. - The only difference was that he was on his tiptoes. - And that was all the difference in the world. - Between what you're doing in the, whatever. But we finna talking ballroom here. - Oh yeah, we're finna talk ballroom. - So you feel good. - Yeah, I feel really good. It's a good dance. I have a video. - How's dad feeling? - Well, I was nervous. - Yeah, I can't imagine being, like your first foray into being perceived, being dancing with the stars. - On the stage in the ballroom. - On stage in ballroom. Like I feel like even being in the audience is like a lot. - For in terms of just like being filmed. - Wait, will he be in the audience and then like stand up and walk? - I bet they'll get him. - Like pull him away early, but then when he's done with the dance to you, then he'll go back to his seat. - That's a good question. Oh, I bet it will. Yeah, and I bet they just don't film it. - Ah, it's so interesting. I hadn't thought about that. Ooh, I'm getting nervous for him. Ooh. I wish I wouldn't be on a plane. - Yeah. - I won't be. I'll be here. - What? - I'll be here. - Oh, on Tuesday? - Yeah, sorry, I thought I was gonna be on a plane. - You were too. - No, I changed my flight. - Nice. - I've been watching Catfish all day. - Wait, hold that thing. Sorry, I won't talk about the ballroom. (laughs) - Wait, no, 'cause I was gonna say something. - Please don't interrupt my friend. I wanna talk about the ballroom. - No, my dad is being such a good sport. So you don't understand. Like, people don't understand how much film time goes into these like one bag. - Yeah. - Like, it's crazy. Like, we film for my one minute package. We're rehearsals filmed every single day. They put in, but we do. - I did like five hours of, five, six hours of. - For package? - For all ages, yeah. - Wow. And they pick like four seconds? - Well, it's at least four hours. No, I'm thinking of it. It's probably two and a half. - Yeah. - But whatever. It's like, yeah, that'll be 10 seconds. - Yeah. - And then they also filmed my dad alone. They filmed him rehearsing. They filmed Riley alone. So interesting. - So is he dancing at all? - He has some moves. I guess this will be out. - Yeah, this will be out. - He takes two steps at the beginning of the dance. - Oh. - What are the steps? - Left, right. - Oh. And then he sits at the piano. - He kind of leans on the piano and then I go meet him up there at the end. - Oh, and then what do you do when you meet each other? - Um, just kind of like lean into each other. Like this one. - Like, nozzle each other? - I don't want you to like talk about me, me, nozzle on my dad. - What is that? What are you doing when you're leaning into your dad? - We're kind of like hanging out. - We're hanging on each other. - Look, you're looking what way? - Like hugging. But with one arm, one arm, one arm, one arm, one arm, one shoulder. - Over the shoulder. - Yeah, it looks like an old picture of us. - Is it, oh, are they gonna have the picture? - Oh. - My God. - Mm-hmm, cute vibes. - I will sob. Until I have nothing left. I until I shrivel up. - Other people that are really good at like, doing the emotion stuff must like, love this night. - You're, it's feeling like foreign to you and like vulnerable and shit like that? - Yeah, not even like foreign. It's just like, is it necessarily something that I would have said publicly ever? - Yeah. - You know, so this show, it's the best show on the planet. - Do you think I don't know that? - It's good. They get good stuff. - Yeah, really. I wonder if I'll continue to watch next season the way I am now. - I definitely will. - Who do you think will be on next season? - They're probably not even born yet. - So true. - No, it will be like 11 people. - Mm, what do you mean? - At least 11 people. - It doesn't have to be 16 or 15. - 11 or not? - What do you mean 11? - I don't know. But there's always gonna be like someone who like, pops up out of nowhere and becomes like a, American hero and then they end up being on. - You know, like if someone saves like a girl from a well. - She's an example of someone of an American hero like that that's been on. - Wasn't there a guy that like beat someone up or like did something that, and then he just became like beloved and then he went on the show and he was actually like a complete freak. - Not that I know of. - If anyone knows of the instance that I'm talking about where I think a guy like stopped a robbery or something in New York. - You're talking about some Joe, Ordinary Joe or something like that. Tom. - Ordinary Tom. - There was an ordinary person. - Yeah. - But it had nothing to do with dancing at the stars. - No, but that's my whole thing though. - It was the ordinary guy that worked at a pizza shop. - What is the magnificent thing you can't, what is it? - I don't try to figure out this out. - But if it's unrelated to this person that I'm talking about being cast on Nancy at the start, you're just bringing up a normal person. - Well, your thing was like an ordinary person who became like a national hero overnight. - Which led them to dance with the stars. - This person did become a national hero but did not go on dancing with the stars, I don't think. - Well, I know people become national heroes all the time. - Well, I know people become national heroes. - Okay. - I know people do that. - You know sometimes I fantasize about being a national hero. - What do you want to do to get you to that? You are like, you're an America sweet heart. - I haven't done anything. I really want to stop. - What do you want to do? - I want to stop like. - A robbery? I think that you will be a hero to some people. I think you already are a hero to some people. I'm just saying like I would love to stop a robbery, a mugging, even just like a argument. - Honestly, if you just look closely enough when you're like walking in New York, like you can. - Some things, I've never seen anyone, I have been mugged in Orange County. - I remember that. - I usually never have stress dreams about having to be naked in public. - Having to be naked in public? - Or just being naked in public, just ending up that way. But it's like for whatever reason, the past month, it's like my recurring stress dream and it's horrible. I was having a dream about, I was moderating a month's event and all of a sudden I looked down and I was criss-crossed applesauce, that now. pants or underwear. What a sight. And it was just like, it's like the feeling in the dream is the work, even worse shame, or it's an even worse feeling than like when my break stop working. Like it's like horrible. I feel horrible in the dream when I realize and I make it. Why do you think you feel horrible that you were naked in the dream? Because I was like doing public nudity. But was anyone, there was a full crowd of people. Was anyone raising their voice? Was anyone pushing back? Everyone was like, like, oh, this poor girl doesn't realize she's naked. Oh, my God, like, this is mortifying. Not poor girl, more so just like, yikes. But then I like, also for whatever reason in the dream, I can't rectify the situation. So I remember during in this dream, Tristan was there. And I was like, I need you to get me an elongated blouse because for whatever reason he lived on the property of the moderated event. And in his room, I was like, I need you to get me an elongated blouse because like, I'm sure he had, you know, more elongated blouses that would cover me up. And he went back into his room to get an elongated blouse. And I had to sit in front of everyone while he looked for it. He never came out within a long day. So he never got the elongated blouse. Yeah. Sorry. And then there was one dream. I was just but completely not a stitch of clothing walking down the street out there. Why did my hands. I'm getting too comfortable to get. That's so gross. And I did that. You just put your hand in your panties on my couch. That means I'm about to go to bed. Do you sleep with your hand in your pants? Yes. Everybody does. I don't know. Everybody does. You know what I've been doing? What? Watching Jeopardy every day. Love Jeopardy. Have you watched pop culture Jeopardy at all? No. I'm more I'm more of a history buff. Yeah. I got that. It's so interesting. It's better. It's of the same Elk as like a New York Times game. It's some of them are thinkers. It's amazing. The things I don't know. Can you tell me this? How much do you know about Jeopardy? What do you mean? Like the history? Yeah. Not a lot about the history. Okay. No, not the history. Okay. But like how would you just get a general huge thing of note cards that you have to study early? Is this just? No, it's just general knowledge of everything that broke. But what is the point besides knowing something that you would you're just memorizing facts, you know? No, but I think like all of the facts that you would need to know on Jeopardy. By the way, I love to know a fact. Yeah. I love that. I'm not touting it. I think all of that knowledge serves you in some way. I really do. I mean, well, I know absolutely none of it. But I do think I don't think it's just wasted knowledge. I got a good one today. What? Drake passage. Or Antarctica? It was just, you know, some bullshit about the oceans, but I was like, Oh, I know that Drake passage. And it was right. That's no feeling like when there's three brainiacs on the TV and I get it before them. And they're all sitting up there just like, I'm like Drake passage. I love pop culture, jeopardy, because like the answer will literally be like Jonathan Groff and then Andrew Garfield. Is that the one? Is it Ken Jennings, too? Yeah, it's Colin Jost. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, this will go down in history as well. This will go down in history as an episode as one of our episodes. It will. I think that's incredible in its own right. I do too. I'm like worried that like we sound like I might have to rerecord an episode. No, no, this was funny, right? Is he? Is he says it was funny? She had tears in her eyes. Why did people stop doing overhead fans? Good question. I love the overhead fan. I know. I wish we had an overhead fan. If nothing else is nice to look at your board. I really have to pee. Yeah, you can do that. Yeah. Okay. We'll love y'all and see you next week. See you next Thursday. Thank you for either voting for me and keep me on the show or thank you for enjoying the time this season. Thanks. No one's getting voted off next week. I don't know. There's a lot of people. You're good. You're safe. They be your safe. Let's see you at home. And then they do a double. It's too many people. Okay, love you. Bye guys. Love you. This week, I'm close friends. I'm playing with squish. My toes are peeking through my holy blanket. There's four wet cheeses on my ass. We're okay. Exactly where we are, baby. Kelly Clarkson has put me in danger at his dogs by neighbors. Where's I'm at a close top? Cats are always like this. I couldn't say, Hey, fatty. Do you? Okay. No matter how much I might want to.
