GET UP - Best Motivational Speech

[MUSIC PLAYING] I've had some failures in front of a lot of people. But I didn't mind that, because you grow from that. You know? I think part of learning is dying. I think part of learning is you've got to die a little bit, because what is learning? Learning is me giving up on my old ideas. Those ideas have to die for me to be open to some new-- and so me learning how to be a better man, I had to die a little bit. Make mistakes that don't regret them. Learn from them, because regrets of the hardest things to carry when you get older. I have spent my whole life scared. Frightened seems that could happen. Might happen, might not happen. 50 years, I spent like that. I came to realize, is that fear that's the worst of it? That's the real enemy. Get it. Get out of my world. You only have to go to work on yourself to make yourself more valuable. Why would you not go for it? Why would you not take a chance? At one point in time, you've got to take a chance on you. I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you can learn to appreciate them when they're right, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. Trust your gut. Trust your instincts, because that instinct is who God made you to be. There's one place that all the people with the greatest potential are gathered, one place, and that's the graveyard. To say you want to be great, let your actions, let your words display that. If you say you really want to be elite, let your actions, and let your words display that. Every single day, do you dominate in what you do? In this life, you can do what you put your mind to. And if you continue to put your mind to it, the game opens up new levels. You get a new level. In each new level that gets opened up, you're able to adapt to different mindset and a different approach. You can stop at that level. Or you can go, "I want more levels." Don't let life do up. It's yours. It's yours to drive. Get up in the morning, write down what you're going to do in a day. Be happy on your way to your job, even if you don't like it. You got to be happy on your way to happy. Don't think you're going to get there and be happy. You carry yourself with you. When times get harder, go harder. When times is great, go even harder. Don't stop. I'm not stopping. That's one of everything I love. You're tubeless. You're very blessed. You've got life and God's great. Every possibility is surrounded by obstacles and challenges. You've got to get through the challenges to get to the possibilities. But it's worth it. When you're in that place where you're acting in the proper manner and you're facing things courageously and you're speaking the truth, you're imbued with a sense of fundamental meaning. And that meaning is the antidote to the catastrophe of life. You have to have that meaning. Because otherwise, your life is too dark and too dreadful. And it will corrupt you. And one day, you'll be sitting in the dark like I was. And you're going to be asking yourself, what am I going to do now? What am I going to do now? But in that moment, I want you to remember the power of you. I was going to sit in that failure and give up. I was going to make a decision to step out of the darkness. You see, when you're in that darkness, you want to sit there and wait for the light to come. When you're in that darkness, it feels uncomfortable. But you can't wait to sit in that darkness. The only way out is to step forward to face your fears, to become your own light. The first way to get focused is to find purpose. The way to find purpose is you must identify what it is that you have to be purposeful in. When you are struggling with what to do, who you are, what your next move, you are in an identity crisis. You are struggling with just who you are. See, you have not discovered who you are. You have to discover who you are in order to move you forward. You have the power, authority, and dominion to handle anything that life throws at you. Don't buy into the distractions and the negative conversations. And don't allow other people's failures and setbacks. Distract you. Stay focused on your strength. Answer the call on your life. There's a reason for you being here. What you run away from, you'll always have to go back and deal with. When you stop running, God steps in and gives you power. Favorability that you've never had. When you deal with what you know you need to deal with, there will be a grace to do what you've never done. If we accept our responsibility to ourselves and other people and to our communities, and we lift that load up, then we live lives that are meaningful, and that stops us from being corrupt. It provides us with a medication against catastrophe, and it also practically improves the world. If there is no joy when you wake up in the morning, if you dread the sound of the alarm clock going off, if you feel stagnant, if you have the thought in your head that there has got to be more to life than this, you know what you should do? You should stop doing whatever it is you're doing. You will become exceptional the moment you make an exceptional decision. Go see the life God God for you. It's way better than the one you planned. Let's have you to get something better. Hello, it's your time. And your blessings show up in different kinds of ways that you cannot begin to imagine. When I get up in the morning, if you do this with me, things are going to happen that's going to blow your mind. I say all things work together for good. For those who love God and for those who call according to His purpose. And then I say, Lord, whatever I face today, together, you and I can handle it. Expect good things to happen to you. Do you expect to be successful? See, one shows up in conversation. Expectation shows up in behavior. You can't solve a problem with the same mind that created. In order to work at solving these things for problems in your life, you have to change your mind. When you have this energy about you, you should expect things to get better. So everybody's, how do you do that? You know exactly how to do it. You know exactly, it's not a magic trick. There's nothing to talk about in that book that's a magic trick. It's all back down to a very primitive mindset of we just have to do. I don't want to live this lifestyle, but to get to the other side of this, I have to. Society is counting on you giving up. The truth is this. If you're willing to pay the price, and you're willing to do the work, and you're willing to take the time, and you're willing to consistently get up when you are knocked down over and over and over again, which is going to happen to you if you're pursuing anything outside of the norm. You can make it here in America. You can't pill a legacy if you're not living it. I'm living a life so that I can lead something for my children and for my children's children. And we all have this feeling that I came into this world. Now it isn't true, you came out of this world like a leaf comes out of a tree. If you want to be wealthy and happy the rest of your life, just learn this lesson well. Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. And don't die with your music still in you. Some of us hear a different drummer, but we must march to the music that we hear. All of you have some music playing. And all of you have a heroic mission. There's no accidents in this universe. We all show up here with a purpose. All of us feel something. Too many of us are afraid to listen to that music and march to it. If you want to know something about yourself, sit on your bed one night and say to yourself, my life is not everything I want it to be. And perhaps it's not everything that I need it to be. And by need, I mean, my life is so unbearable that the suffering that's attended upon that makes me nihilistic, cynical, bitter, resentful, homicidal, unable to have a good relationship, prone to punish people for their virtues because of my jealousy. These are problems, man. And you ask yourself, you sit on the bed and say, OK, man, I'm ready to learn something. What's one thing I'm doing wrong? That I know I'm doing wrong. That I could fix, that I would fix. You meditate on that, you'll get an answer. And it won't be one you want, but it'll be the necessary one. Live your life the way that you want to leave your life. What you focus on the longest becomes the strongest. If you think that you understand Brahman, you do not understand and have yet to be instructed further. If you know that you do not understand, then you truly understand. For the Brahman is unknown to those who know it, unknown to those who know it more. The current reality doesn't control you. You let current reality control you. Just absolutely refuse to let anything control you except yourself. See, you think these things are controlling you, they're not controlling you. You're lighting them control you. It's a terrible mistake. Whoever you are, whatever that music is, however distant it may sound, however strange or ever weird others may interpret it to be, don't get to the end of your life and know that you're going to leave and not have it played yet. Don't die with your music still. This is an opportunity of a lifetime. Your Brahman accountant on you to do the right thing, your mama accountant on you, your cousins, your brothers and sisters, I accountant on you to cash in on this opportunity. Anything that was horrible in my life that I would normally say no, that was inhumane and most people, I had to go do it. I had to invent a guy that didn't exist. I had to build this callous mind and I built it through suffering. You have an opportunity right now that you will never have. You are not your past, you're you, you're you right now. Like the past he did, he might have done some things he wished he hadn't done. Don't dwell on that. You learn from it, that's fine but don't dwell on it. Just keep moving. Keep moving. You don't use it. Use it as fuel say never again, I get what I did wrong but don't think that you're that person that made those mistakes. You're the person who's learned. And most people stop at failure, we've all failed at things. I'm going to continue to fail at stuff. It's the most powerful tool you can use. Body has limitations, the mind does not. We focus so much on what goes on from the neck down that we forget it all starts from here. If you're not mentally ready, you're never really physically prepared. Everybody in this room, everybody on this planet has a gift, it's your job to figure out what that gift is. And I started opening different doors that I didn't think were even there, they didn't think even existed. The more doors are opened up, the more I start realizing that my potential is damn you're endless. If you will be a champion, if you will be a beast, you won't have to go through something. The dark side is filled with failure but it's the fuel that burns you like something that's never burned inside you before. A key thing in creativity, starting the process, trusting the process and letting it evolve. Because if you don't get your foot in the door, if you don't start, nothing happens. You don't have to be talented, you don't have to be gifted, you don't have to be the quickest, the strongest, you don't have to be the most intelligent to get to where I am. That's what you got to do, you just got to grind though, you're grind, you got to out grind. Look in the mirror, you'll see why you're not succeeding, I don't believe that. It's what you don't see in the mirror, that's what's holding you back. It's what you're not willing to see, it's why talent is not enough. And when you finally see it and accept it and decide to work on it, then you can take that next level. I wanted to feel something besides the feet, I wanted to just go to distance and that going to distance pushed me to a point of where now I go way past the distance. A real man in the dark, when nobody's watching, he put me in work. Stay focused, don't listen to nobody, don't listen to nobody home, what's on your mind just do it because what's destined for you, you're going to get it. I'm around many times people put you down and write you off in life, never pay attention to it because it doesn't mean anything. Anything is possible, no matter where you are in your life, how dark for a place you're in, you should never let anybody crush your dreams because anything is possible. Sometimes you have to be a lion so you can be the lamb you really are. I talk like a lion, I'm not afraid of any of you when it comes word to word, I will gab with the best of them just so I can chill and be me. You have to be careful how you fight your fight, because by the way you fight your fight will be the way you live your life. All your mistakes, everything you get to make you successful and to make you fail them will do the same to your life. Understanding self-worth is the beginning of progress. Self-worth should be easy, if one of us can do it, all of us can do it. If anybody can think it, we all can think it. I can read, you can read, I can understand, you can understand from where I came from. Change from pennies to fortune, change from nothing to something, change from broke to rich, anybody in this room can do it. If any of us can do it, we all can do it. That's the kind of value you should play for. The challenge makes us a better person. You and I are better, not because our life has been easy, you and I are better, or because life is challenging. It teaches constantly that everything worthwhile is uphill, and when you wake up in the morning, you should be looking at uphill. You should be looking at those challenges that are before you. Don't take them on all at once. Today, just pick out one. Just pick one. And today, start conquering that challenge. You will feel so much better because you were made for that challenge. Man, life's short. Go harder than you did last year, whatever you thought you did it wasn't enough. And enjoy it even more. Go harder and find a way to enjoy it. That's what I'm asking again. Push yourself them extra reps. Go harder. How that extra two meetings that date will find a way to enjoy it. The story they sell themselves out. Everyone's got a story. And everyone wants to tell you their story of how bad they had it, how hard they had it. They don't realize that they still hold the pen. There's thousands of empty pages still in that book that they can rewrite that story. But we have to let go of the pages that others have written in our book and realize we got this pen. And we can start writing how the story looks from this day forward. But what's stopping them is the work that they haven't done. Life change does not start with inspiration. Life change starts with education. You've got to be educated to point out where you might have messed up. I've been high up on the mountain. I've been blessed. But as a slippery slope, and it's lonely up there. Happiness is not something you postpone. Happiness is not something off in the future. Happiness is something you design. Gotta get the word. Happiness is a study. Happiness is a practice. Happiness is an art. It's not an accident. It's an art. And anybody that wants to can study, practice, the art and happiness. Those who have swords and know how to use them, but keep them sheath, will inherit the world. But the young men really need to hear this more, I think, is that you should be a monster, an absolute monster, and then you should learn how to control it. It can be wildly. The world has changed. What is our, as a man? You know the Universal Stem show is presenting where your soul lives, your heart, where it isn't stuck. Do you want credit for it, or do you want to see the other person do well? Where you remember that there's a world out there trying to tell you who you are, and there's a world in here that's trying to tell you who you are. Now where do you want to put your eggs? Because the world outside is very noisy and very tempting, and it has all the razzamatas, as all the tinsel and all the glitter. It's got the toys, but that's because you don't think you're enough in the first place. When you don't think you're enough in the first place, the whole idea of the world to send you stuff is, first of all, they have to make a full ban about it. Money doesn't make you sophisticated. Only study and practice makes you sophisticated. Only study and practice makes you culture. And only study and practice makes you happy. Study and practice makes you rich. If you think the price of winning is too high, wait till you get the bill from regret, and that bill from regret is generation, and there's a lot of people listening to this, that that bill has been passed on from generation to generation, and you are holding that bill right now and somebody in some one of your generations has to pay that bill off in order for the generation to move on. And the only way that bill gets paid off is you got to be willing to make the hardest decisions. No one dies unexpectedly. We all go to die. But I'm here now. I'm not going to focus on when I'm gone. I'm going to focus on what do I do with what I have. To the pessimist, the glass is always half empty. To the optimist, the glass is half full. Why would the same measure affect people two different ways? Answer. It all depends on how you look at it. Our lives are mostly affected by the way we think things are. Not the way they are. The way we think they are affects us move. So own the game, accept the rules, and move on into the rules. So the world will try and tell you who you are, and you have to tell yourself who you. And there's this ongoing battle, and somehow there needs to be a reconciliation between the two. But in the end, you've got to have all the eggs in your basket. We were designed to win, but we've been programmed to fail. You have got to tie your existence to your creator. If you don't tie who you are to God, I've got news for you. You're going to forever struggle. Everybody you wake up and you justify your existence. If you believe that we could do something about it, if you believe that we should have a sense of mission, that we were born for such a time as this, that we're here for a reason. Life is not just the passing of time. Life is a collection of experiences, their frequency, and their intensity. Life is not just watching the clock tick away. Two things we get every day. That's a chance and a choice. Let's put more value on the choices that we make, because our choice is what determines our destination. Here's major time in the presence of the prospect. That's major time. And so little time on the major stuff in the presence of. How many hours in the presence of in my day? How many hours in the presence of during my sales week? Because the time that really counts is in the presence of. Don't mistake movement for achievement. You know, if you take people and I told you this and you expose them voluntarily to things that they are avoiding and are afraid of, you know, that they know they need to overcome in order to meet their goal for a self-defined goal. If you can teach people to stand up in the face of the things they're afraid of, they get stronger. And you don't know what the upper limits for that are, because you might ask yourself, like, if for 10 years, if you didn't avoid doing what you knew you needed to do, by your own definitions, right, within the value structure that you've created, to the degree that you've done that, what would you be like? See, if you've never been in the bottom of some stuff, you ain't never had to know. But all of you that have been in the bottom, you know it oh too well, don't you? You come from nothing. You can be successful without an education. You can be successful without coming from a rich family. You can be successful. I don't care what color you are, what faith you belong to. I don't care what's wrong with you. You know, there are remarkable people who come into the world from time to time. There are people who do find out over decades long periods what they could be like if they were who they were, if they said, if they spoke there being forward, and they get stronger and stronger and we don't know the limits for that. We do not know the limits to that. You're not everything you could be and you know it. We do for our children. We do for our grandchildren. We do. We have to show up. For our great-grandchildren until we take our last breath. That's the only one you're going to get. When you pray for rain, you've got to deal with the mud too. But if you want to bang bad enough to God and fight for it, to work day and night for it, to give up your time, your peace, and your sleep for it, evolve at your dream and scheme is about it. And life seems useless and worthless without it. And if you gladly sweat for it and fret for it and plan for it and lose on your terror of the opposition for it. And if you simply go after that thing that you want with all of your capacity, strength and sagacity, faith, hope and confidence, and stir in pertinacity. If neither cold poverty, famished alcohol, sickness, pain, or body and brain can keep you away from the pain that you want. If doggan and grim, you besiege and beset it with the help of God you'll get it. No, Nietzsche said he who has a why can bear any how. And you see, and I've certainly seen this as a clinical practitioner, that people who have no purpose in their life are embittered by the difficulties of their life. You really have to work hard to figure out what comes next. Like for some of us, like we were born and basketball was here. Like I started playing basketball and I was too. You know, and for a lot of us it's really easy that first phase, but it's really, really hard to find something else that you love just as much more so. Right, and that's really the key is that keeping yourself busy. And you have to figure out what it is that you really want to do. Like wake up in the morning and say, you know, I'm excited to go do this. What is that? Don't you figure that out? Who gave me five grand when I was at Michigan State doing my program? I didn't get it. I didn't have no budget. But I didn't need a budget. I had a dream. I didn't need no help. The president never came and said to me, "E.T., we're going to help your program for this institution, Bloor." The president never came and I never quit. I never gave up why. Because it wasn't her dream in the first place to take care of group of kids from the D. It was my dream. It was my goal. I don't expect you to do. I don't expect you to believe in my dream. Like I believe in my dream. And the problem with some of y'all is you want somebody else to support your dream. It's yours. I don't know you would die. It's your dream. If you wanted to have it, get your butt up and make it happen. If you wanted to have it, rise and rise. If you wanted to have it, you won't have to do what I do. And that's get up at three o'clock in the morning. If you wanted to have it, that mean you won't have to get home at two-fifteen and get your butt up at five. So you can get to Detroit by six. If you ask for something, it would be given to you. There's a very strange idea. But I like that idea a lot. And I believe in my experience, that has been true. If it was that I wanted what I was asking for, because that's the real issue. Because the question is, if you want something, what does it mean to want it? And what it means is to sacrifice what is her is necessary to get it, because otherwise you don't want it. And so there's an equation here, and I'm not claiming its ultimate accuracy, but the equation is something like, you don't want it unless you're willing to sacrifice for it. And if you don't want it, you're not going to get it, because you're scattered. But if you do want it, and you make the proper sacrifices, then don't we know what might happen? I've been grateful for the good things that have happened to me, but I don't think I was grateful enough before just for mundane normality. You think you don't have everything you could have, and perhaps that's true, but if you can sit down and breathe, there's lots of people who don't have that. And one of the most important lessons in life that you should know, is to remember to have an attitude, of gratitude, of humility, understand where the gift comes from. It's not mine. It's been given to me by the grace of God. Use what I have. Use what you have. I'll turn nothing into something. Imagine the possibilities. Imagination is the first step of the miracle of possibilities. Reality first starts with imagination. So it's hard to say how to turn nothing into something, because nothing is, there isn't anything that's nothing. Everything is something, even if it's the imagination, it's something. Your career is what you're paid for. Your calling is what you made for. If you change your attitude, you change your outlook. But you have to start living your life in expectation. You have got to start expecting great things to happen for you in order for it to happen. It is the law of attraction. It is real. It is nothing fake about it. If you live your life in expectations, that's what happens to you. If you live your life in despair, that's what happens to you. To deposit your imagination and faith into high activity. Disciplined activity, not just activity, but skillful discipline. When you're grateful, you can't be worried. You can't be fearful. When you're grateful, you can't be angry. An angering fear of what screw people up most in their relationships, in their life, in their business. I'll never be rich. You won't. You won't. The moment you change the frequency, different things come back to you. I'm telling you this how it would work. Activity finishes the miracle process of turning nothing into something. Activity finishes the miracle process. Is there anything better than being around people that are grateful? Is there anything better than being around people that are thankful for what they have been given and what they have received? I don't think so. I think that gratitude is the least expressed, but the most important virtue in a person's life.
