Gen. 10 - 12 Immigration, languages and doing what´s right wherever we are / Migración, idiomas y hacer lo correcto donde estemos

¡Gracias! So, thank you for joining us for another edition of Keep a Light with the World and the World, we'll keep a light with you, and today we're discussing Genesis 10, 11 and 12. We'll see where we can derive what benefits we can derive from this reading, so many interesting points that I found, and I hope that you like it, and also that you share with people that you know who might also benefit from this. So let's get going. Genesis 10 says, "This is a history of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and J-Feth. Sons were born to them after the flood. The sons of J-Feth were Gomorr, Megog, Mad-I, J-Ven, Two-Ball, Misek and Tyres. The sons of Gomorr were Ashkenes, R-Feth and Togar-Mah. The sons of J-Ven were Elisha, Tarshish, Kittin and Dodanim. From these the inhabitants of the island spread into their lands according to the land which is in their families and by their nations. The sons of Ham were Kush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan. The sons of Kush were Siba, Havila, Saptah, Raimah, and Saptaka. The sons of Raimah were Siba and Didan. Kush became father to Nimrod. He was the first to become a mighty one on the earth. He became a mighty hunter and opposition to Jehovah. That is why there is a saying, just like Nimrod, a mighty hunter and opposition to Jehovah. The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Irek, Akkat and Kalne in the land of Shainar. From that land he went into a Surya and built Nineveh, Rehobarth, Eir, Kaila, and Risen between Nineveh and Kaila. This is the great city. Mizraim became father to Ludim, Annamim, Lihebim, Navhtiim, Pathrasim, Kastleim from whom the Philistines came and Khaftarim. Kailim became father to Saitan, his firstborn, and Heth, as well as the Jebusite, the Amarite, the Gurgashite, the Highbite, the Archites, the Sainite, the Arbidite, the Samarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward, the families of the Canaanites were scattered, so the boundary of the Canaanites were soon Saitan, as far as Jirar, Nergasa, as far as Saddam, Gomorrah, Abna, and Seboim, Nulecia. These were the sons of Ham, according to their families and their languages, by their lands and their nations. Children were also born to Shem, the forefather of all the sons of Eber, and the brother of Jaffet, the oldest, the sons of Shem were Elam, Asher, Arpekshad, Lud, and Eiram. The sons of Eiram were Us, Hull, Gither, and Mash. Arpekshad became father to Shila, and Shila became father to Eber. Two sons were born to Eber. The name of the one was Peeleg, because in his lifetime the Earth was divided. The name of his brother was Jopfen. Jopfen became father to Amadab. Shila, he is Armebeth, Jira, Hadaram, Huzal, Dikla, Obal, Abimeel, Shiba, Ofer, Havela, and Jobab. All of these were the sons of Jopfen. Their place of dwelling extended from Misha as far as Sifar, the mountainous region of the east. These were the sons of Shem, according to their families and their languages, by their lands and their nations. These were the families of the sons of Noah, according to their family lines, and by their nations. From these the nations were spread about in the Earth after the flood. So, interesting points here. First one is, have you ever traced or tried to trace your genealogy to get as far as you possibly can to know who your great great great great grandparents were? They're actually businesses who do this and they make a lot of money in order that when they do so they can allow themselves to sponsor professional sports teams or even buy the stadiums that these play in, so that that idea is not completely out of whack or completely crazy. It can be done. Why do I mention this? Because in chapter 10 we see the entire genealogy of the sons of Noah and the family members that came after them. Now, there are people who question the authenticity of the Bible and that they state or affirm that the Bible is no more than just a book of myths and legends. Now, notice how in Genesis we start to see the genealogic lines that are traced back all the way down to the root, Adam, son of God. The sons of Noah, Noah the son of, so would a book of myths and legends give you so much details and so much information about the characters in their tales with so much vivid detail? No, do you know what does? Well, what does is a register or a department of human services who might have this information. Now, having worked for an apartment or department of human services myself in the States, I can testify and I can attest to the fact that it takes long tedious process to inscribe any information on a certificate, a birth certificate of death certificate, for example, and it's not as easy as it seems. But it's less easy to document all this information and make sure that you can trace all the family lines going back seven or eight generations. However, to do this is much more than just putting in this information, but it's also making sure that this information is correct and detailed in knowing that every single family member is linked one to the other. So I can give faith and then attest to the fact that it is not such an easy task and yet the Bible does this. So is it a book of myth and legends far from it? This is for when a person asks for a birth certificate, they know that the information on that certificate is correct, exact, and without any errors whatsoever. If this weren't important, why would the authorities ask for a birth certificate when asking you to marry, to acquire a driver's license, or to even register a birth, for example, when you're moving abroad? Is it less important in the Bible? No, it's more important in the Bible because who inspired it is one of meticulous truth. Well, do you think about this? Do you trust a friend who always tells you the truth and never hides any details from you and tells you everything exactly as it is, or one that keeps information from you who you can never really trust. Speaking of details and information, let's go to Genesis 11 and see what we learned from this account in itself, but keep this in mind. Genesis 11 reads the following, "Now all the earth continued to be of one language, and of one set of words. As they traveled eastward, they discovered a valley plain in the land of Shainar, and they began dwelling there. Then they set to one another come. Let us make bricks and bake them with fire, so they use bricks instead of stone and bet them in, as more tar. They now said, 'Come, let us build the city for ourselves and attire with its top in the heavens, and let us make a celebrated name for ourselves so that we will not be scattered over the entire face of the earth.' Then Jehovah went down to the city, and the tower that the sons of men had built. Jehovah then said, 'Look, they are one people with one language, and this is what they have started to do. Now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down there and confuse their language in order that they may not understand one another's language.' So Jehovah scattered them from over there, over the entire face of the earth and they gradually left off building the city. That is why it was named 'Bable', because there Jehovah confused the language of all the earth, and Jehovah scattered them from there over the entire face of the earth. This is the history of Shem. Shem was 100 years old when he became father to R. Packshad, two years after the flood. After becoming father to R. Packshad, Shem continued to live 500 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. R. Packshad lived for 35 years, and they became father to Sheila. After becoming father to Sheila, R. Packshad continued to live 403 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Sheila lived for 30 years, and then became father to Eber. After becoming father to Eber, Sheila continued to live 403 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Eber lived for 34 years, and then he became father to Peeleg. After becoming father to Peeleg, Eber continued to live 430 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Peeleg lived for 30 years, and then became father to Ryu. After becoming father to Ryu, Peeleg continued to live 209 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Ryu lived for 32 years, and then became father to Seerug. After becoming father to Seerug, Ryu continued to live 207 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Seerug lived for 30 years, and then became father to Nayhor. After becoming father to Nayhor, Seerug continued to live 200 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Nayhor lived for 29 years, and then became father to Teera. After becoming father to Teera, Nayhor continued to live 119 years, and he became father to sons and daughters. Teera lived for 70 years, after which he became father to Abram, Nayhor and Hayran. This is the history of Teera. Teera became father to Abram, Nayhor and Hayran, and Hayran became father to Lot. While his father Teera was still alive, Hayran died in the land of his birth in the earth of the Caldeans. Abram and Nayhor took wise for themselves. The name of Abram's wife was Sarah, and the name of Nayhor's wife was Milka, the daughter of Hayran, the father of Milka and Iska. Now Sarah was barren, she had no child. Teera then took Abram, his son, and Lot, his grandson, the son of Hayran, and Sarah, his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram's son, and they went with him out of her of the Caldeans to go to the land of Canaan. In time they came to Hayran and began dwelling there. The days of Teera were 205 years, then Teera died in Hayran. What did we learn from this? Well, please, we're speaking about details, right? We're speaking about the registers and all the information that goes down on certificates and whatnot. So take note of this fact, and it says that the Bible, this is how this is how languages came about, mainly, also the ethnicities of the world. It's stranger, it's curious to see how God confused these languages so that they wouldn't understand each other and believe that they were unstoppable as they themselves stated. Now, was there any danger in them speaking one language and feeling unstoppable? Well, humanity has demonstrated weaknesses time after time from the time of Adam until today. And even though we think we are superior and unstoppable because our narcissism tells us that we are, the most probable thing is that Adam would trip up just like Cain did in committing atrocities like killing their brothers and whatnot. So we could attribute, or rather, can we attribute the confusion in the world, the lack of understanding between one human and another, and also the lack of a sovereignty to God? Well, what he did back then was only to cut off our wings so that we wouldn't in fact believe that we were higher than we were, or think that we could direct ourselves as God because objectively, God's don't commit mistakes and they don't die as humans do they. Some commit bigger mistakes than others, but ultimately we all commit mistakes. The confusion really sets in when we get confused and distracted and we lose our path in thinking or knowing, rather, who God is and what His role is in our life. Worse than a lack of understanding, there has always been a lack of empathy and that's not God's fault at all. Someone might say that he was doing this in order to, in order to populate the earth and have it be what it is today. An earth populated by people who, in their majority, don't accept anyone to tell them what to do and to wreck themselves as towers and gods to feed their own ego and have that false sense of superiority to conquer other races and populations, to kill off and take their positions and then edify or construct statues and temples in their name. Really, could there be a bigger confusion and division for man than to not recognize God's sovereignty and also deviate from His path or take themselves away from His path and follow their own path? If you don't think so, think about this for just a moment. Only ten generations had passed between Adam and Cam. However, how many times God had to intervene and step in to make sure that God didn't completely lose His path? Already we see two. Knowing what you know about humanity, including the civil wars, the world wars, the acquisitions and what not, don't you think it's time that God really does intervene? Being completely sincere with you, I would say yes. Being, being that the case, what application can we give this reading? Well, let us be like Noah, who gods are as different and just in order to be part of the humanity that God does see as well and doesn't have to intervene in our behalf. Although nothing is impossible for him, let's make it easy for him by being that type of person, by being civil and the type of person that intervenes on behalf of goodness and kindness. Let's do it in small and large things, so that little by little this world is a better place for us to live in. Finally, Genesis 12 says the following, "And Jehovah said to Abram, 'Go out from your land and away from your relatives, and from the house of your father to the land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, and you will become a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who calls down evil on you, and all the families of the ground will certainly be blessed by means of you." So Abram went, "Just as Jehovah had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was 75 years old when he left Abraham. Abram took his wife, Sarah, and Lot the son of his brother, and all the goods that they had accumulated, and the people whom they had acquired in Abraham, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they reached the land of Canaan, Abram traveled through the land as far as the sites of Shikim, near the big trees of Mora. At that time, the Canaanites were in the land. Jehovah then appeared to Abram and said, 'To your offspring, I am going to give this land.' So he built an altar there to Jehovah, who had appeared to him. Later he moved from there to the mountainous region, east of the Bethel, and pitched his tent with Bethel on the east, on the west, and AI on the east. There he built an altar to Jehovah and began to call in the name of Jehovah. Afterward, Abram broke camp and journeyed toward the Nigan, moving his camp from one place to another. Now a famine arose in the land, and Abram went down toward Egypt to reside there for a while, because the famine in the land was severe. As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife, 'Sir, I, please listen, I know what a beautiful woman you are.' So when the Egyptians see you, they will surely say, 'This is his wife.' Then they will kill me, but keep you alive. 'Please say you are my sister, so that it may well well with me because of you, and my life will be spared.' As soon as Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians noticed that the woman was very beautiful, and the princes of Pharaoh also saw her, and they began praising her to Pharaoh so that the woman was taken to the house of Pharaoh. He treated Abram well because of her, and he acquired sheep, cattle, male, and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels. Then Jehovah struck Pharaoh on his household with severe plagues because of Sarah, Abram's wife. So Pharaoh called Abram and said, 'What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me she was your wife? Why did you say she is my sister so that I was about to take her as my wife? Here is your wife, take her and go.' So Pharaoh gave his men orders concerning him, and they sent him away with his wife, and all that he had. So what lessons do we learn here in Genesis 12? Very interesting, right? In verses 1-9, we see how Jehovah God commands Abram at the time to pack up and go, and there was no doubt in his mind, so he packed up and went. Why did he have such trust? Much like his great-grandfather Noah, Abram knew God's power and his ability to keep his little servants alive. He probably also trusted that, just as Jehovah had done with Noah, he would bless him if he followed his instructions. We also have a chance to both get that blessing, as well as please God by obeying him. Small and large matters. For example, his God asked us to pack up and leave our homes and commodities, or build an ark as he did with Abram and Noah? No. What is he asking of us? Is what is acceptable in all countries? Treat each other with respect and care for one another, not kill or harm each other, some countries are doing. Is that a possible feat? Of course. After all, it's not like leaving in our home that not knowing where we're going. Can we show respect and consideration for each other, or is God asking too much from us? Something to think about, right? Food for thought. Notice how a few verses down, the line, verses 10 and 11, "After Abram followed God's instructions, there are a rose trouble." What kind of trouble? Much like the world is experiencing today. Need, hunger, poorness. Every day the rich get richer while the poor get poorer in this world. It may seem as it seemed in Abram's time that God puts himself out of the issue. You would think that if God tells you to pack up and go because He'll bless you, that a famine wouldn't affect you and your family, right? Well, the Bible makes it clear that unforeseen events befall us all, and even though we may have trials, we need to trust in God and also do as Abram did, work towards those blessings and put in our share. It's like if you need a car, God isn't going to give you the car if you don't go out and work to build your credit and have something to finance that car. Does that make sense? However, if you do work, the car and all you could do with it will come. But for now, the famine falls and there is God. What do Abram do? He packed up and left. We also take the size of action knowing what's best for our families, but stick to doing what's right, and also stick to God especially during difficult times. Now, what will this do? Well, verses 12 onward explain how they travel to Egypt to escape from the famine. We have two lessons to learn here. The first is that, when we take the size of action, we make it easy for God to bless us, don't we? However, look how Abram shows us that one lie leads to another, and ultimately calamity because being untruthful is never a good thing. He tells Sarah, his wife, to pretend like she was his sister so the Egyptians wouldn't want to kill him and marry her. The Pharaoh certainly noticed Sarah, and thinking she was his sister almost took her as his wife. Now, we thought God was out of the picture, didn't we? But notice what happened here? Jehovah immediately struck Pharaoh in his house with a play, and Pharaoh called Abram to ask why he had lied and brought this on Egypt. So Abram, Sarah, were expelled from Egypt. It's great that God swooped in in order to save them, proving true to his promise, but notice how one little lie can lead to disaster. Wherever we may be, we need to trust in God. Do what's right, and be honest in all things, because if we're not, there's a good chance the same can happen to us, from going to prison to being expelled from a school, a job, a church, or even a country as did Abram for not being totally honest. After all, he represented the true God, and so it was up to him to represent him well, like it's up to you and I to represent what we are and we would what we believe in well. Also, so these are the points that I have found in Genesis 10 through to 12, and I hope that not only have you liked them, but also that you benefit greatly from them, something to think about and something to also act on, not only to think about, because the more we act on these things, of course the more possibilities there are for us to draw closer to God and have better relations with other humans. Take care of each other, and until Genesis 13. ¿No? Entonces a mí me matarán y a ti te dejarán viva. Aquí tienes a tu esposa. ¿Qué hizo a Dan?
