Gator's Gameplan w/David Gately (05/11/26)

This transcription combines television advertising with an Australian horse racing radio program. It opens with promotional segments for Fox News' live midterm election coverage on Fox 1 and for Dupixent, a prescription treatment for eosinophilic esophagitis that reduces esophageal inflammation and improves swallowing. The bulk of the content is "Giddy Up with Gareth Hall," featuring racing analyst David Gately on Oaks Day. Gately reviews the Flemington carnival's opening days, describing Point of Law's Melbourne Cup win as extraordinary, with the third-greatest margin in 60 years, and compares the performance to a fresh runner entering a marathon late. He credits the training team's tailored approach for the horse's success. For Oaks Day, Gately names Sequin as his best bet and supports the Oaks favourite despite a wide draw. Looking to Saturday's Champions Day, he picks Tempted as his top selection in the Champions Sprint, with Jolly Star and Headwall as main dangers. He sees Welcome to the Show as value in the Five Diamonds and questions why Cosmic Crusader is not favourite for the Champions Stakes after the Cox Plate. Gately also answers listener questions on various runners, offers a three-leg parlay, and discusses the bet365 six-horse challenge promotion before wrapping up.

Speaker 2Having uncontrolled eosinophilic esophagitis, or EOE, can mean you're stuck in many ways, like cutting your food into tiny pieces, or stuck chewing food for a long time. Dupixent dupilumab, a prescription medicine for patients one year and older weighing at least 33 pounds, can help with that. It's a breakthrough treatment that can reduce inflammation in the esophagus and improve swallowing. Get with this or you can get with that. How about this? Dupixent is not a steroid. It proactively treats EOE so you can get ahead of it.
Speaker 3Severe allergic reactions, including skin reactions, can occur. Get help right away if you have trouble breathing or wheezing, or swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, or throat. Tell your doctor of new or worsening joint aches and pain, or a parasitic infection, or asthma. Don't change or stop other treatments without talking to your doctor.
Speaker 2Feeling stuck with EOE? Start treating with Dupixent. Talk to your gastroenterologist or allergist today about Dupixent. Learn more at Dupixent.com or call 1-844-DUPIXENT.
Speaker 4Join the conversation. Text us on 0-4-double-9-736-736. Live across Australia, this is Giddea with Gareth Hall. On Giddea, it's time for Gator's Game Plan with David Gately. He joins us on Oaks Day.
Speaker 5Hello to you, Gator.
Speaker 6Very good morning to you, mate.
Speaker 5Half time. Yeah, half time. What do you say to your troops at half time, mate? How are you going?
Speaker 6Well, all the great coaches adjust to what's happening in the first half. Yes. All the great athletes can alter slightly what they're doing and enter the second half even stronger. So that's the plan, anyway.
Speaker 50-4-double-9-736-736 to join our conversation on the Gareth Halls and Hound text line. We like to look forward here on Gator's Game Plan, but we can analyze what happened there in the first couple of days. But that point of law victory in the Melbourne Cup, Gator, boy, oh, boy.
Speaker 6Yeah, it was extraordinary, really. If you factor in the 22 other athletes, they were in one race and he was in another. I mean, you know, I had a flashback to that Simpsons episode, you know, where Bart joins in at the marathon at about the last five Ks, fresh as a daisy, and he runs away from them. It's what it looked like. Yeah. All those that were, you know, in the front. But, you know, in the finish, except for the leader, all near this horse at the 800 and were thrashed. So, you know, the third greatest margin in 60 years says a lot, especially off a moderate
Speaker 5tempo. How good is he?
Speaker 6Well, I don't know yet, but, you know, a sick start. I just hope that we can see him for a couple more years. Obviously, with that ownership group, it gives you a much more realistic chance, doesn't it, of having a, you know, a racehorse and then worry about the breeding later on, hopefully.
Speaker 5That was a great analogy. It was sort of like you competing against me over 42 Ks, and then I jump in a car after the first six Ks, and then with a K to go or half a K, I jump out of the car behind the bushes and then sprint home. That's how it felt to me with Point of Law over two miles. It's sort of like, who the. Like, I couldn't. Like, how has he done that?
Speaker 6Yeah. And watching him through the line, he's actually running away from them still, so, yeah, it was an extraordinary performance, you know, and every year there's a story, and this year was a great one.
Speaker 5And listening to Kiramar and Giddy up yesterday, just describing how he's been, and Ethan Brown, how they've worked this horse gator. Yeah. And I always find it really interesting when you can get inside the trainer's mind and even Ethan. And the way that they worked him, even worked him evens on race day, and then they gave him a strong gallop the day before. His ability to cope with work and his aerobic capacity, he is freakish. Like, he could just be something quite special when you listen to them.
Speaker 6Yeah. No, I agree. And you're spot on. I find it fascinating. And, you know, it's no different to. You know, these are athletes, so it's no different to any other sport in the history of sport that you just have to know what your strengths and weaknesses are. And I heard that interview, and it's almost as if they stumbled upon, you know, how to train this guy. And, you know, and we've seen it a million times. Like, I can imagine, you know, you go to the Olympics and ask the top 100 athletes in any of the pursuits, they'll all be trained slightly different to cater for their own strengths and weaknesses. Yeah.
Speaker 5Yeah, you're right. Like, if he didn't bolt on the rider that day, then who knows how Kieran trains him? But, as Ethan Brown pointed out, he learned a lot that day. So, yeah, I found it really fascinating. He's a star horse, and you can't wait to see what he can do in the autumn. What about today, Oaks Day? How do you think this track will play? I think it's played pretty well the first couple of days.
Speaker 6Oh, it's been absolutely brilliant. Sensational. Especially given, you know, challenging preparation, challenging weather predictions and prognostication, six different websites telling you different things. It's just great. But, yeah, so with the race. Trail at six, that's traditional. A bit more traffic on the track the last month, and a bit more rain, perhaps, than ideal. So, I'd expect, you know, to continue to play well, edge off the inside. Those tailwinds look like they'll pick up in the straight today, so that'll be worth keeping an eye on.
Speaker 5We're going to get Liam O'Keefe on the show just after 10 o'clock as well with the track update. So, we'll get more information there. But what about your plays at Flemington today before we start our game plan for Saturday?
Speaker 6Yeah, so pretty keen on Sequin. I think she's one of the better bets on the Carnival, to be honest. I'm a huge fan. She actually accepted for the Coolmore. I saw her in the acceptances, and they withdrew that and saved her for the Red Roses. I think she would have been competitive in that. Now, if that's the case, she's going to be mighty hard to beat in the Red Roses. The thing is, she's still a work in progress. She still does a little bit wrong, but I love the fact she settled a bit better last time and blew them away against the track pattern. So, seven by three, clearly our best. A couple of other races, I'm a little nervous, given the soft five. Like, I've tipped Enzudo, I've tipped Sass Appeal, and I just wonder if they're a length better on a good four over a five. But we'll see how that plays out, mate. Sequin our best, though, today.
Speaker 5Yeah, so race seven, number three, and that good race there for the Phillies down the straight. And obviously, she's very talented. McDonald rides there for the Chris Waller camp. So, that's a look at Rose Hill. I mean, I should say, that's a look at Flemington and Oaksdale. Who's your tip in the Oaks? Are you just with this favourite to win, despite the gates?
Speaker 6Yeah, look, I think she not only deserves to be favourite, I was really surprised. Some markets got her out to 280, 290 after the draw. I think they'll just go forward to offset that. You know, I think, you know, she seems to be getting better and stronger as she goes up in trip and into her campaign. So, I think she, you know, taking the line through the beating the males. Who then beat quick finish comfortably. It's really difficult, I think, to mount a case that she's beaten, if she gets even luck from the gate.
Speaker 5Yeah, and so you think you'll try his luck at the start, try and slot in somewhere there, Lloyd, from that wide gate?
Speaker 6Well, that's what I'd do. I mean, there's 13 Phillies in the race that are 80 to 1 on there, or longer. So, I don't see, I don't see what's to be gained by sitting behind eight of those.
Speaker 5There's a lot of horses on the quick backup from Saturday out of D'Armas, who won the Wakefield. Ice lady that was brave in the Wakefield after being attacked in front. Quick finish that was placed in the Derby. And then Thar were in your colour that were both down the track in the Wakefield. Who do you think the best chance is out of those Phillies that competed on Saturday Gator?
Speaker 6Well, I was keen on D'Armas in the Wakefield and she won and she still did a little bit wrong. So, I think she can continue. She can continue to progress. I've got no reason to tip those behind her to turn the tables. I take your point, though. Ice lady was good, really good. Leading and had a pest. Strong speed. So, she's run very, very well. So, I can make a case that she's much more competitive, at least with D'Armas. I've got no reason to doubt either of them at the trip.
Speaker 5So, that's a look at Oaks Day, which is today, of course. It's 20 minutes past nine. On the other side of it, we're going to go through our game plan for Champions Day and what it's like. Saturday, that promises to be. It's also Five Diamonds Day there at Rose Hill. So, we'll take your questions. You can ask Gator any question you want. 049-736-736 on the Garrett's Horse and Hound text line. And we'll go through your questions to selectors to ask the coach after we have our team meeting at the selection table there, going through the key categories as we try and build up a bit of a plan to make some money there on Saturday. So, we'll kick off Gator's game plan for Champions Day. Especially straight after this.
Speaker 4Text us on 0499 736 736. Live across Australia, this is Giddy Up with Gareth Hall.
Speaker 5Welcome back to Giddy Up. David Gately with me. He's been good enough to join us on Oaks Day. He's been everywhere this week. He's been the star of the show and he'll be on the coverage once again on Channel 9 this afternoon. And Gator, let's have a look at this Champions Day at Flemington on Saturday. I guess the big question is, is what will the track be, basically, with a lot of rain predicted? Up to 15 mils, they tell me, on Saturday.
Speaker 6Yeah, that wasn't what I read last night.
Speaker 5Okay. Depending on what weather report you get. I was with the Norwegians. That's the one I look at. I don't know what you look at.
Speaker 6Yeah, I've heard the Swedish was the way to go, but what a time to be alive. But, yeah. So. Look, I've pretty much finished the AusRacing form and the form for Saturday. Yes. I'm just going to go home tonight, see what the track pattern, if any, is today. Have another look at just tinker with a few things and send that out late tonight. So, yeah. So, some things are out of our control, mate. So, let's play with the cards we're dealt.
Speaker 5Beautiful. So, we'll look at Rose Hill and Flemington. We start off with the key play. So, the first athlete that you'll be picking in your side comes Saturday. And we're heading to Flemington. And the champion sprints.
Speaker 6Yeah, look. I think it's not a day. I don't think it's really easy to pick, you know, a best that isn't prohibitive odds. So, I landed on Tempted. I think she can win again. She was only second up the other day. I think the win had a lot of merit. You know, she was closer to that really strong speed than what she traditionally has been. She was left in front of Fairway from home and still beat Kai Ying Rising, still beat Jolie Starr. You know, who. Jolie had a slightly softer run. So, I made her the best. First car up the straight, no reason to worry about that.
Speaker 5Then we go, of course, to the long division race. It's the toughest race for you to sort out on Saturday. And would you believe, how dare they do this to a skater? The final race of the famous Flemington Carnival, which is race nine. And you've got these mares going around here with Educated at 460 over the 1,100 metres down the straight. Trey Magnificat. Trey Magnificat, 8.50. Torsheen, that's first up for Sam Friedman and Anthony at $9. Eshmali Gator does stay in Melbourne and not in Sydney. So, there's some news for you at $10. Brave to sign at $10. Prestige Lucky's won her first two starts. She's at $11. Electric Elvis at $12. Royal Rendezvous at $12. Solari at $12. And Verdot is at $13 here. So, what do you make of this race?
Speaker 6Yeah, no. It's tough. Race 37 over the four days. A tough finish, isn't it? So, look, hope for a live in the accordion. We've got a few soldiers here. Some of them I like at a price. I'm worried about any rain with Verdot. I think a soft five's fine. Anything worse than that, I start to get a little nervous with this horse. But, gee, it was some run on Derby Day and he's $13, $14. So, gee, I'm hoping the rain misses for him. I'm a big fan of Prestige Lucky. He's also double figure odds. But, look, there'll be a few in the quad. He's certainly a royal run over. He's certainly educated. Trey Magnifique and Esmali. A wide finish, mate.
Speaker 5Yes, a wide finish. Both the boys and girls do battle in this Benchmark 80. I thought that it'd be quite fitting for you after the week that we've had. We finished with the Benchmark 80.
Speaker 6Yeah. No, I think it's a good way to go. But, you know, look, what I do like about the race is, as I say, there's probably three in that race that I think are really good winning hopes. And they're double figure odds. So, if we're alive and swinging, quaddie-wise or, you know, in front and we've got a bit of play money, it might be a great race to finish.
Speaker 5The D-Day horse?
Speaker 6Look, I'm going to go with two down the screen. I think she's flying this Pratt. Terrific in the two rack when looking for further. Went to the Tessie. I was pretty keen on her. I thought her and Sovrato were the only two winning hopes. Now, one of them, two down the street, pulled up with a throat issue. So, forgive file for her. The tongue tie goes on. She meets the winner of that race seven kilos better. So, look, as long as she can breathe in the run, then I think she'll run a great race. But it is time to stand up for her.
Speaker 5Yeah. So, that's two down the street. That's the D-Day horse. And then we go to the champion sprint because this is the first of our highlight races there on Saturday. Tempted at $1.85, you just mentioned that she's your best bet of the day. I think Jolly Star's a great bet. $1.70 the play. She's drawn perfectly. And then Headwall's at $10. Cabela's at $11. Charmstone, $23. Who runs behind Tempted in your eyes, Gator?
Speaker 6Well, Jolly Star's an obvious given. She just crossed the line with her, didn't she? So, she's still early in the prep as well. The advantage for her over Tempted is she's well and truly proven up the straight. You know, I think anything better than a genuine heavy track's fine for her. And she's a danger. Headwall chased her, of course. In the. Tab Everest and also the Group 1 Newmarket. You'd think it's advantage Jolly Star because she does keep beating that horse home.
Speaker 5So, Tempted, Jolly Star, Headwall for third. He's on the quick backup after finishing second in that Russell Boarding, Skybird and Point Barrow. Your top five numbers there in the champion sprint. The champion's mile, well, she's $1.18. She was $1.30 there for a little while, but that was too good to be true, really, for Water and Glow. Gator and the champion sprint. The champion's mile, like $1.30. It's weird saying it, but that was value.
Speaker 6Yeah, there's not a lot of. Yeah, there's not a lot of opposition there relative to her talent. You know, we know Tom Kitten and Lindemann, Buckaroo. Like, they're good horses, but they're not in her league, I'm afraid, at 1600. So, yeah, they're not going to give us even money, unfortunately, because. She's a better chance than that.
Speaker 5And then we go to the champion stakes. Most of these horses, apart from the three-year-olds, really, are backing up from the Cox Plate. Eliana's at $2.60. So, the punters believe she can turn the tables on Cosmic Crusader at $3.40. Birdman, $6. He doesn't want the rain. Sir Delius, $7.50. Omni Man at $13. Treasure of the Moment, $23. And then Light Infantryman, $34. Sir Barge, $31. It was a good push there from Michael Kent Jr. about Sir Barge. Land Ledger. Legend, 60-1. Attrition, 70-1. And Von Hawke at 100-1.
Speaker 6Yeah, look, yeah, the Cox Plate rematch almost. It looks a fearsome speed again, doesn't it, on paper, with those two leaders. So, what you'll probably get is a slightly softer track. And we'll keep an eye on the track pattern. So, they're going to be the two key factors, I think. Eliana, yeah, could certainly make a case. She turns the tables here from a better draw. To perhaps sit up a little bit closer and maybe have a head start on Cosmic Crusader this time, who draws widest, and he'll try and repeat what he did there in the Cox Plate, having the last crack at him and running over them. The advantage for Cosmic is a pretty obvious one. It's the rain.
Speaker 5Yeah. I'm surprised he's not favourite Cosmic Crusader after watching the Cox Plate again.
Speaker 6Yeah, well, he ran over him, you know. So, there were plenty of sooking, you know, that Sir Delius was ridden too close and apparently wasn't fit enough. Can't buy that. Birdman got a squeeze. He was out in time for mine. Eliana peeled out, had her chance. She fought hard. I'll give her that. But the winner was a bit too good.
Speaker 5I think when you analyse that race, the Cox Plate, and you have a look at the gear changes here for Saturday's race meeting, and you go to the champion stakes and you see Sir Delius blink his first time, I think that says it all. I think he was fit enough, but whether he, I think they had to change the headgear with him, just to try and sharpen him up a little bit, to change his mindset.
Speaker 6Yeah, look, it can work, can't it? Even for older athletes. Sometimes it's almost a last throw at the stumps to get that extra inch.
Speaker 5And then the five diamonds to Cleesey.
Speaker 6No, it was that horse. Was it Mr Brightside? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and so it can spark them up.
Speaker 5Yeah. We just lost you for a little bit there, but I think I know what you were trying to say. And then we go to the five diamonds. To Cleesey Boulevard, 420, linebacker, 550, Verona Road, 7, evaporate, 750 here. And then you go to Plymouth at 10, San Bardo at $10. And welcome to the show. He deserves a big race, doesn't he? He's at $10.
Speaker 6Gee, I'm surprised he's $10. You can argue strongly he's crossing the line with them last time with Evan Lark. And, you know, I do think if he was C. Ma as trainer, he'd be much shorter. Yeah. They all get to $1,800, which I don't really know who's going to handle that best. So, look, this has purely come down to price for me. Welcome to the show. Linebacker and to Cleesey Boulevard all have really, really strong winning hopes. Yeah. Who's going to be strongest at the $1,800? Comes down to price for me. Welcome to the show. I think he's a $5.50 chance, and he's double that.
Speaker 5Yeah. So, welcome to the show, Gator's Tip in the five diamonds. And with my Oz Racing and Bible experience, here that you can get emailed to you if you're a subscriber of course at oz racing gator has gone for welcome to the show linebacker for second gator to cleasy boulevard third verona rose fourth and you're thrown in san bardo and plymouth um your numbers there in the group three five diamonds is one of the highlight races there on saturday at rose hill and there's a few questions coming through already you like tom kitten and buckaroo to finish second and third you confident that they'll finish in the minor placings
Speaker 6yeah well tom kitten's just uh you know really a really good solid horse isn't he um a bottom end group one top end group two sort of horse he um he chased in vain lindemann last time i think it's advantage him back on the flemington um the melbourne way of going over lindemann add to that a soft track would really impact
Speaker 5lindemann's hopes and it'd be interesting to see how lindemann goes back around the melbourne way of going was it to forgive run because he hated caulfield flemington's a different track chris waller's giving him another opportunity here at flemington say he's the watch horse i think if he handles flemington he'll run a place but that's the big question
Speaker 6yeah as long as the track's not too wet
Speaker 5yeah all right then that's a look at our key categories oh the night watchman where are we going there uh
Speaker 6heading to sin city horse called horseshoe hill yeah he's drawn for a good run that was a good return thousands not the horses go um so pretty keen he runs well in the last race so what is that a 78
Speaker 5yeah and then we go to the parlay we'll give away the parlay nice and early today we're playing at flemington gate do you want me to read them out or have you got them in front of you uh
Speaker 6all yours all right
Speaker 5beautiful so we'll go race five over the 1800 meters the d-day horse there um at flemington on saturday too darn discreet and then we'll go tempted in the champion sprint which is race six and then we come home with verdo in that final race so recapping the horses there for the parlay two down discreet race five number five tempted which is in race six and she's horse number six so race six number six and then verdo don't tell me he's race nine number nine um he's number one isn't he yeah race nine number one so race five number five race six number six and race nine number one is the parlay two and three at flemington for champions day um 35 minutes past number one we'll come back with your questions next for gators game plan here on giddy up join the conversation
Speaker 4text us on 0 4 9 7 3 6 7 3 6 live across australia this is giddy up with

Speaker 6well he didn't throw in the 235 it's world-class speed
Speaker 5that is world-class 235 that would probably i could do 235 half marathon i reckon sure
Speaker 6um yeah i could do 235 on my bike yeah
Speaker 5hey gator um think defiantly will run them into the ground and win i think peloton is overs can win as well defiantly is an interesting one has he got enough speed to get to the front and do what winkers thinks he can do because john o'shea when i asked him about whether defiantly will be setting a pace that will suit king pedro he goes well is he quick enough to get there gareth
Speaker 6yeah and that's the challenge isn't it i mean the more i've watched that melbourne cup race the more i've watched that melbourne cup race he might have been something to beat defiantly the way they ran it
Speaker 5but can you believe that it was unbelievable like yeah he was going to win regardless how the race was run point of law but it was a weird melbourne cup to watch really yeah
Speaker 6we'll put it this way royal supremacy isn't defiantly and held on for fifth so you know again it's just it's a silly argument because we'll never know but yeah i think he would have run a mighty race but anyway um the 2600s a different it's funny to say this but i wonder if it might even be a little bit too sharp for him to finally that's sort of what the point you're making but it'd be fascinating to see him i can't wait to watch him in the in the
Speaker 5flesh yeah um do you give peloton a chance
Speaker 6yeah for sure um you know i think it was obviously wide against the pattern last time and uh probably wished or a little bit wider but he's a key winning hope for sure terry
Speaker 5wants to know tempted at autumn glow carry their sydney dominance to melbourne wave going that's from terry
Speaker 6well i can't see why they wouldn't you know there aren't too many uh of the walla army that that come here and struggle i've seen a few get to caulfield and struggle even aliana herself uh didn't really handle that track the first time she was there but flemington's a different beast i think um and most of them handle it um so it's the least of my concerns i think she
Speaker 5would have done enough practice the melbourne wave going autumn glow and um yeah be interesting to see how tempted she is i don't know if she's going to be able to do a lot of the things that others go down the straight but with her turn of foot you think she'd be made for straight racing um uh hi gareth can you ask ady's thoughts
Speaker 6on solan in the oaks today that's from andrew yeah look i was a touch disappointed last time uh she ran quite well um but i thought she had a chance to sort of reel them in um obviously true rebel then went to the derby and didn't quite stay so yeah she's in i
Speaker 5think that second or third wave of chances on saturday in sydney well we'll never yeah
Speaker 6we'll never know what would have happened last time because she's she's held up hopelessly wasn't she so what i do know is she's been really really competitive with jeringong in the past um the problem those two girls have is lazura's been
Speaker 5better than both of them yeah and good luck to the team there with arabian rose she's jimmy healy's done a wonderful job with her and she goes around the hot danish stakes over the 1400 with benny thompson riding her on saturday hi gareth can you ask gator about the run and the run of the ride from c williams on hanky alpha gave it none last saturday what's his thoughts this saturday that's from darren i don't know if that's a bit unfair darren i think she might have just been unlucky or what do you do you agree with darren
Speaker 6gainer uh she drew in didn't
Speaker 5she yeah so they
Speaker 6just weren't winning from there she tried to make a run inside the field i mean you can't jump over them so she couldn't go outside because that's where everyone wanted to be and that was the best ground so um a clear forgive run she actually went through the line really well the advantage for her is this if this rain comes um yeah and the track gets you know soft seven even an eight that's big advantage her i think
Speaker 5what do you make of david van dyke's horse in race two in the sub-zero today kai tau luke cartwright writes for the queensland trainer yeah
Speaker 6look i nearly had he i nearly very nearly put him on top i did the form and i had him you know in the top three hopes and then i looked at the market and thought how in god's name is that 23 given his former and the likes of war eternal and those sort of things and i think that's a good thing i think that's a good thing horses his first run was a ripper i'll say that price is well and truly gone now yeah um i think he can win the race he's been shuffled down to a third pick but it goes in everything yeah good
Speaker 5push for the queenslander hi dean gator love this segment only one i listen to i might tell everyone else there i'm mick but i can understand why can you please ask gator about rose hill race three criteria my brother and i have a small share cheers that's for mick from karen yep beautiful place there in wa
Speaker 6yeah it is a good part of the world um yeah so third pick i'm just struggling to see how they turn the tables on savvy spy with even luck i know savvy spy draws a little awkwardly but um yeah with a bit of luck and a relative weight swing you can make a case for sure
Speaker 5what do you make of bez nine in the last race john o'shea was keen there over the thousand meters today yeah look
Speaker 6i tipped him last time and he had a problem cavalry girl was too fast but look he he was not able to make it to the finish line um cavalry's not there i think a certainly a clear winning hope second
Speaker 5pick from memory um and sulak in that country championship there for dom sutton that is a raffle if you ask me gator have
Speaker 6you nailed it down yeah tough race the same question for me comes up every year in this race yeah who's going to run a strong mile you know um because a lot of them get to this trip for the first time or they've been there once and didn't quite run it out sulak's sort of one of those but uh i guess i think he's a better more mature horse now so he's he's in the game as many of them are third pick um
Speaker 5hi gareth love your show heading over to watch my horse cartoon graveyard i wonder what you think or gator thinks of cartoon graveyard of course goes around um in the third race there the manifold stakes on saturday over the mile i should say today i should say over the mile Yeah, look, some
Speaker 6scratchings have helped. for sure um i think i originally had him about sixth and uh with a couple of scratchings he's come up a couple of notches so um yeah and our topic may not even handle the soft ground so you can make a good case there and he's backable
Speaker 5yeah i liked him each way today i think he will enjoy the ground as well he's a good horse he rarely runs a bad race cart in graveyard yeah he's a ripper um thoughts on savarato and race five at flemington and a place bet on surfs up in the hot dailies in sydney that's from lamb yeah i think
Speaker 6surfs up is going really well for the right race i'm not sure set weights is really her go against lazura um she really should be getting what 10 kilos off that horse um the other one savarato i thought was a really good win last time perfect ride but won well um and brought that unleashing form down um so she can win the challenge for her is the weight scale so she meets some of them up to seven kilos worse here into a set wait race savarato was
Speaker 5given one hell of a ride a peach there by damien lane there the other day as well i thought gator it was delaying at his yeah
Speaker 6oh yeah that was 10 out of 10 so you know if they ride them perfectly you just have to be good enough to win and and she was um and she won
Speaker 5i 499-736-736 to join our conversation on the garage horse and hound text line we'll take a break and then we'll come back with more of your questions next
Speaker 4join the conversation text us on 0-4-double-9-736-736 live across australia this is giddy up with
Speaker 5gareth hall welcome back to giddy up gareth hall with you the great man david gately with me for gator's game plan giddy up always brought to you by bet365 that six horse challenge we've got today starts race four if you get all six right there's a chance you win a hundred thousand dollars if you only get four or five um there's a chance you'll win something as well to win that 100 grand you gotta hope no one else gets six right as well but if they four people get it you get 25 000 and it's free to play as i said my mom loves playing um the six horse challenge and the six horse challenge will be in operation on saturday as well and on melbourne cup day 32 customers got four out of six receiving 312 dollars each so it's subject to availability eligible customers only terms and conditions apply what are you really gambling with for free and confidential support visit gamblinghelponline.org.au and what does the gator goat believe in the most impressive jockey across the first half of the flemington carnival that's a good question
Speaker 6yeah look i haven't seen too many um been given uh bad rides it's been more about uh you know best horse track playing really well um obviously you know some of those at the top of the uh the tree generally make less mistakes don't they uh
Speaker 5morning fellas great to see revelare back at the track seem to trial well does gator give him any chance in the chest to manifold first up in this class shorter than his preferred distance that's from barney yeah
Speaker 6look i probably want to see him um you know just first up off that decent break especially if they've had a little setback so he did try well though and we know he's a good
Speaker 5horse how does gator think my horse she's supreme will go and race one the english spanner at flemington that's from joanne from uh boyland i think that is good luck to you joanne that's a difficult race for the form experts to try and predict with um a host of first starters down that straight at flemington gator but i wish you the best of
Speaker 6luck yeah no 100 same um you're going really hopeful don't you it's uh it's a good feeling but certainly trial well see some of them trialed brilliantly didn't they in that race uh gee it's going to be a really interesting watch um i noticed a couple you know steaming from the back in the trials a couple of trials are leading by 10 and winning so yeah can they bring it to game day i've
Speaker 5got one for you in that race god sk i know gate two is not a great gate down the straight especially on the final day but they are two-year-olds so sometimes that can be an advantage being on the fence um yeah it looks fast yeah the frankel feeling yeah hi boys i bet cosme crusader and the cox plate going to follow him again in and in sydney i like linebacker in the five diamonds your thoughts there we've talked about cosmic crusader what about linebacker in the five diamonds gator
Speaker 6yeah he can win for sure i thought he was um you know in sort of left a bit of a sitting duck for the glitchy boulevard latest they they hit the front of fairway from home and and was run down by a good one because it turns out it's a little weight advantage this time um i certainly don't think 1800 will pull him up
Speaker 5yeah i'm interested in omni man on saturday despite being back in trip keen on gator's thoughts that's the joseph o'brien galloper that was pretty good in a geelong
Speaker 6he's the fresh blood isn't he uh the geelong cup form is very easy to like uh given what we saw on saturday and he made good ground against the pattern of the day there i think the challenges are obvious uh back in trip wait for age what's
Speaker 5your best ruffy on saturday gator at flemington or rose hill that's bully wants to know from bellarat well i
Speaker 6had verdot race nine number one but as i say if that rain hits they probably won't even run um and welcome to the show at ten bucks in sydney where my two two of my value plays are going to be the best ruffy on saturday at double figures
Speaker 5yeah darcy bale big fan of gators i know too darn discreet his gators d-day horse but could the argument be made for eliana winless this prep and time to stand up in my very humble you know what there darcy i totally agree eliana she's like she's meant to be the next big thing and um she's had her opportunity but this is her time to put her hand up and say okay then i'm the real deal yeah look
Speaker 6i agree it's getting really close to um to d-day there as well i think i think the thing is it depends what your expectation is right if you're thinking she's the next winx then no um but aren't too many of them um what she does do is is try really hard you know um i loved her effort in the cox play they went to her and she really fought hard um and when she won that the race in sydney at the end of last prep she showed great tenacity so i don't have any knock on her application and she's just perhaps not you know she's not as good as if you're if you're thinking she's going to be the next you know winx or via yeah she's not that but she is who she is right can you ask out
Speaker 5if you're each different gravy with his hot chips today that's from turf cutter uh
Speaker 6again a couple of scratchings have helped um to bring a couple of horses who originally were you know 25 30 to 1 to give them mathematically a better chance of of winning we know his best is good enough to be competitive here gate it's just
Speaker 5a matter of time before it's too late so we're going to see what happens in the end of the week so we're going to see what happens in the end of the week and then we're going to see what happens
Speaker 6in the second half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the second half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week
Speaker 5and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the second half of the week and then we're going to see what happens in the third half of the week and then
Speaker 6doesn't he? He does. I wish he drew wider, but, you know, they'll have a plan. They'll probably, I think, they'll do what they did with this horse last time he drew in up the straight and snag him back and try and hook over their heels. That's what I think will happen. I'm left with him on top after those scratchings. I'm not upset about it either.
Speaker 5Steve from Tragen says, could Point of Law be the best chance for a horse to equal Maccabi Davis? Three Melbourne Cups in a row would be, or would he be sent to stud before he got a chance?
Speaker 6Um, yeah. I don't know. I'd love to see it.
Speaker 5Yeah. As Lee Freeman said, after Maccabi Davis won her third Melbourne Cup, go and see the youngest person here on track because they're the only person that might see something else like this happen ever again. A horse winning three straight Melbourne Cups. And I believe that it probably nearly won't happen again in today's world. So, you get long odds with that, Steve. Yeah. 200 years. Jimmy Regard looks well over his race for Flemington on Stakes Day.
Speaker 6Thoughts, Gator? He's not one of mine, Jimmy. He was better last time, but he had to be because he was awful first up.
Speaker 5Yeah. What about Salika in race five for Todd Pollard and William Pike in that race today in the Matriarch Stakes over the 2,000 metres? In fact, no, it's Saturday, I should say.
Speaker 6Yeah, I think she's competitive for sure. She was certainly a really honest effort last time. She raced like she was looking for 2,000 there as well. I think I got a fourth pick.
Speaker 5Gator, you need to start the day. You need to start the day with a winner so I'm not chasing my tail all day. Autumn Slide in the first. That's what I'm thinking. Your thoughts there? That's not me. That's from one of our listeners.
Speaker 6Yeah, no, I'm happy with Autumn Slide on top. Do wish we drew a little better, but it didn't stop them winning from Wide Gates on Tuesday if they were good enough.
Speaker 5Can your colour win the Oaks? That's from Oscar.
Speaker 6I'd be surprised.
Speaker 5Yeah. No one's spoken about Fundamental Nature's win on Cup Day. I haven't seen a win like that since Chautauqua. Thought it was the winner. Winner of the carnival.
Speaker 6Yeah, she was great.
Speaker 5She was great, yeah, but there was a horse called Point of Law.
Speaker 6Yeah. Yeah, I threw her in the quaddi Fundamental. I just think, I just thought, I just want to see her ridden cold. I think that's the key to her. They rode her cold and hey, presto. Yeah, yeah. Big finish slash win.
Speaker 5Miss Stalwart race won today at Flemington. Gator, that's from Brad.
Speaker 6Miss Stalwart. Not in the top six, I'm afraid.
Speaker 5Show business in race nine, Rose Hill and Sabato. seems overs in the five diamond gator uh show
Speaker 6business yeah i think a place i think it's over the odds i think a fourth pick um zumbardo gd day's looming large here um for him uh i just wonder if he needs a bit of jar out of the track but gee i know he's had an interrupted prep again um yeah yeah he's a he's a fourth pick he could win but he's gonna have to do it without me on
Speaker 5him really is fighter in race nine there today um justine says i'll put this tip in my ais and it's come out with this galloper what do you think of my my
Speaker 6ai basically well yeah i mean is that the right terminology these days um yeah there's a lot of artificial no anyway uh look i think um look i don't look it's a race i could make a case for 10 you know hence the you know it's a bit of a long division race itself but um i've got others ahead but we get stuff wrong hey
Speaker 5gator have a wonderful day we appreciate your time as always in fact hang on i've got to take a break i'll recap your best bets straight after 10 o'clock for a couple of minutes

Summary:

FAQs

Dupixent (dupilumab) is a prescription medicine for patients aged one year and older weighing at least 33 pounds that treats uncontrolled eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE). It is a non-steroid treatment that can reduce inflammation in the esophagus and improve swallowing.

Severe allergic reactions, including skin reactions, can occur. Get help right away if you have trouble breathing or wheezing, or swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, or throat, and tell your doctor about new or worsening joint aches, parasitic infection, or asthma.

Fox News' ongoing coverage of Democracy 26 is streaming live on Fox 1, with Bret Baier and Martha McCallum providing up-to-the-minute results and expert analysis. You can watch three days free.

Point of Law won the Melbourne Cup by an extraordinary margin, the third greatest in 60 years. He was described as running away from the field despite a moderate tempo, with comparisons to a fresh runner joining a marathon late.

Gately's best bet is Sequin in race seven, which he considers one of the better bets of the Carnival. He also likes Proximity in the Oaks, though he was surprised by the price after the wide draw.

The parlay is Two Darn Discreet in race five (number five), Tempted in the Champion Sprint (race six, number six), and Verdot in race nine (number one).
