Game Scoop! 875: The Castlevania Curse Is Lifted

The episode highlights the release of a long-awaited Castlevania game that successfully revives the classic "Symphony of the Night" style with stunning visuals, deep exploration, and innovative mechanics like whip-based traversal and Metroidvania-style progression. The game’s combat, inspired by Prince of Persia, offers flexible, dynamic combat and challenging platforming puzzles, while its music blends gothic and synth-wave elements for an immersive atmosphere. In parallel, the GTA 6 trailer reveals a more mature, emotionally grounded narrative with a strong romantic storyline, setting a new tone for the franchise. The game is set to launch on PC earlier than anticipated, with cross-save support expected to boost player flexibility. Meanwhile, a new, budget-friendly Japan-only digital PS5 is announced, raising concerns about regional access and Sony’s digital shift. The episode also mourns the closure of Red Link, a key developer behind the Trials series, and reflects on the evolving nature of gaming—balancing nostalgia, innovation, and accessibility. These developments underscore a year marked by both exciting new releases and significant shifts in industry strategy and developer stability.

[MUSIC] >> What's up, everybody? Welcome to IJane Game Scoop. I'm your host, Damon Hatfield. Joining me here in studio is Nick Lamone. >> I'm back, baby. >> We're also joined by Sam Clayborn. >> Hey, it's going to be back, and it's spooky season, y'all. >> It is, sure is. >> It sure is, and Justin Davis is here. >> It sure is. >> I just now noticed, if you're watching the video show, that Sam and I have swapped our usual spots. Now it's going to mess with me the whole rest of the-- >> I'm in Damon's spot. >> I think we've swapped spots too. >> This is real spooky. >> What's happening? >> Yeah, it's spooky Saturday. Nick, what have we got on the show today? >> Well, funny you should ask. We've got our first impressions of Castlevania. >> Well, much more than that first impressions. >> Okay, okay. >> Hold on, look, look, look, look, look. >> First impressions ever? >> I've got 17 hours of impressions and Castlevania. This is an episode I've been looking forward to for a long time. Finally able to talk about that. We've also got GTA 6, apparently, coming to PC much earlier than we probably assumed. And there's also a new, sleeker, cheaper PS5, just not for us. >> Oh, sorry. So, but first-- >> Just for animals. >> It's for animals. >> For ants. >> What is this, a PS5 for ants? (laughing) >> But first, Castlevania bellon scars. The first symphony of the night style Castlevania in 18 years, pop quiz hot shots. >> What was the last-- >> That can't be right. >> What was the last-- >> That's true. >> Symphony of the Night Style Castlevania. >> Symphony of the Night, they had to be order of Ecclesia. >> Is that it was pronounced? >> Ecclesia. >> Ecclesia, it said Ecclesia. >> Ecclesia. >> Ecclesia. >> Nick wasn't born yet. I was there, it was full order of Ecclesia. >> Ecclesia. >> You're lying, man. >> Ecclesia, I was there, Gandalf. >> Yeah, eight years was it actually? >> No. >> It was 2008, Justin, so-- >> I was alive and knew a lot of math these days with my first grader, and I'm pretty sure I got that right. >> I was a sophomore in high school, dammit. >> Eighteen years? >> Yep. >> Guys, I can't do the rest of this episode because I'm officially dead and crumbled the dust. >> Eighteen years before that, Simon's-- what was the second castlevania came out? So something's called-- >> Yeah, 18 years before that was 1990. >> Simon's Quest. >> Or it would have been Castlevania or Super Castlevania IV, I guess, in '91. >> Anyway, yeah, it's been a long time. >> Or Ecclesia, by the way, was followed one year later by Castlevania Rebirth, although not a symphony of the night style game. That was a Castlevania I or III style that for we wear, just another one of many games that are trapped on we wear. >> Then there was an Xbox Live arcade-like party, Metroidvania. >> Metroidvania. >> It was like what Harmony of Despair or something? >> That was actually-- >> That was actually a cool one. >> That's a fun one. >> Yeah. >> And of course, Lorde's or Shadow, they made two of those. >> And Mirror of Fate for the 3DS, which is more traditional Castlevania. But yeah, the first, since depending on the night style, Castlevania game in 18 years. So if Konami's goal was to bring back classic Castlevania in a big way, they have absolutely succeeded. >> They're back, baby. >> They Castlevania, Konami, and Castlevania are back, baby, and shout out to Evil Empire, who's actually the developer of the game. >> They crushed it. >> Yeah. This game is awesome. I've not finished it. 17 hours, the end game progress, since I'm 60% done with it. So it's probably gonna be about a 20, 3, 25 hour game for me. >> A lot of it. >> You've played a couple hours. Sam, have you played-- how much have you played? >> Well, I played a ton, and I just-- I can't believe that I-- So I told you I beat that mechanical robot boss, so I don't know how far that is. But there's like a lot of tarot cards I have to do still. And I just got a thing that let me backtrack, so I was like obsessively backtracking and getting all the blanks. >> Yeah. And Justin, I don't want to assume, but it doesn't have factorial or World of Warcraft in the title. So I was just going to swimming. You haven't jumped in yet. >> Safe assumption. I can't remember if I said it on the show or off the show, but I have found a new factorial like that is absolutely consumed my life. And so I'm at a commission here for a hot second. >> Well, I'm eager to hear Castlevania impressions. >> Okay, so it's part-- I think the first thing you'll notice is that it looks-- it shares design sensibilities and voice talent with the Netflix series, but it's not part of the canon of the Netflix series. It's part of the canon of the games, but it totally looks like it feels like the Netflix games or the Netflix games. >> And canon of the games is a stretch, too. Like it's like literally a sequel to Dracula's curse. But like what happened after that? Like nobody can explain all this stuff. Yeah, that part-- >> They do kind of talk about like Alucard and stuff in a neat way, but Alucard was like a tall weirdo that threw fireballs out of his chest in that game, right? >> To the Castlevania games take place in the 2030s. >> They're in the future. >> Yeah. >> And you know the year 19XX, I believe, for Don of Sorrow. >> Yeah, there's a lot of guns and stuff. >> 19XS, yeah, so it looks like the Netflix series. But man, it's a very, very, very pretty game. I'm gonna have two thoughts on this. Very pretty game, although I can't help but wonder what could have been. What you have here, they do a lot of cool stuff with depth. You know, it's a 2D game you can see far in the background. They would, they used to call this parallax scrolling. I don't know, I don't think they call it that anymore. But you know, you get a really great-- >> Yeah, 'cause I think it's 3D renders now instead of sprite background or pixel backgrounds. >> Lots of cool stuff with depth with light shining towards you. And then, you know, as you are going by the light is like, you know, moving as it would. It's just a very cool looking game. I just can't help but wonder, you know, symphony of the night and dead cells are two of the best pixel art games of all time. So you got a symphony of the night like from the people who made dead cells. Sure, wish I could see what that would have looked like. >> Yeah, that'd be a sin. >> In pixel art, but alas, this is not a bad looking game at all. >> One of the first things you'll notice is the whip traversal feels great. >> Yes. >> You start out with a whip, but that you don't use it to attack directly, it's just for traversal, although you can use it to draw yourself, pull yourself towards enemies, which makes you, you can play much more aggressively that way. >> Yeah, and it unlocks a special attack based on the weapon you're using. If you kind of take advantage of that momentum pull, it's really cool. >> Yeah, Tiger Upper Cut. There's a, it really makes it a game about frequently juggling enemies in the air, which is a good change for Castlevania. Like, it feels really good. >> Yeah. >> You can stagger enemies. You know, it's not, it's not a soul's like, but there's a big combat as a little more. >> Well, it does take the one big thing from Dark Souls. >> That's true of responding enemies. Respond to him, and not only that, but you don't lose your progress, and you don't have to go re-crab your HP. >> Yeah, that's true. >> So it's like a really easy variation on Castlevania, Dark Souls. >> Very convenient. >> As you remember, like, the reason that we always talk about getting to the save points Castlevania exploring the map and the risk there is that if you die, well, before you find that save point, you lose everything that's happened. >> It's very tense. >> And they did take that out of this game. So I think, you know, that there is a missing tension from that, which I don't know if I like it or don't, but I'm ignoring it because I'm enjoying the game so much. >> Yeah, the map is enormous. I don't know if it's like the biggest Castlevania map ever, but it's got its sprawling. Because you start out in the streets of Paris, you'll eventually get to Dracula's castle, which has its own, yeah, it has its own giant areas, but there are areas outside the castle too, like the catacombs underneath the city and a big graveyard. So it's sprawling, 60% in, I'm not even close to completing the map, right? >> Yeah, I jumped in yesterday. I bought the game basically like an hour before it dropped on at like 9 p.m. Pacific, and I checked a little progress meter. I'm 12% through the game. I made it through the first two major bosses, and I'm just loving exploring like one thing that stands out between this and my previous experience in the game with the Gamescom demo is I like not having the speed run through the early portion of the game and find where all the secrets are. I like that there's destructible walls. I like that there's hidden secrets. I like that there's upgrades. There's cool stuff to find. And also the Kestis, probably my favorite weapon. >> Those are the like the boxing gloves. >> Very, very fun. >> Yeah, so funny. >> So funny. That's in Symphony the night too. There's a boxing, yeah, gym gloves or something. >> Yeah, they're funny. >> The weapon system, it's not like something that enemies drop loot in the game. It's not like that. It's like there's seven weapon types, and then each one has like five power levels that you can find different types of weapons. You can have one weapon equipped at a time, one spell equipped at a time, and then you can equip three runes which provide passive abilities, so. There's a lot of freedom to build your character in your combat style the way you want. I like the spears because you can keep yourself at a distance and you can also throw them so they're a ranged weapon as well. Do you have a favorite weapon type, Sam? >> Yeah, I like the, I've not been using it, but I like the whip the most just 'cause it's like, it has this cool, damage addition from being at a distance. But honestly, it's weird, the game kind of forces you to use the sword and shield a lot because it's a platforming assist, with the horizontal dash to get places. So for a lot of the game, I've had to have that equipped, but then I switch off of it. I want to be good at the double sword, but you have to like pattern your attacks like with these weird delays, and I'm just not good at it yet. So I'm really curious about that one. >> I like the hint system. Every area has a boss and some of them have optional bosses. Instead of just them putting an icon in your map that you like, make your way towards, you can find little hints lying around that we'll sort of point you in the right direction if you can figure out what they're. >> Like you find like spirits, right? and the spirits kind of reveal like how they died and roughly what where that boss was. And I think it's a nice set dressing that they're doing here. I think that's the thing the game does. Having spades is just style and art direction. Like just seeing the silhouette of Paris and the background burning is so distinct. And it's beautiful. And just like looking at this footage that we're seeing of death. Spoilers, death is in the game. And I hear Dracula's also potentially in it. I don't know. But one thing that stands out to me is I'm really enjoying the combat in a way I did not expect because it reminds me a lot of what Prince of Persia, the Lost Crown did with combat. And like kind of giving you that flexibility to have fun and allow improv when you are in the middle of combat based on how you like to play the game. And I just really like the game that facilitates that with arena battles and also enemy variety. It's really solid. Yep. You can also level up and absolutely plow through areas. And that takes a certain type of game design that allows you to have the new traversal abilities to get plus the ease of killing enemies, which feels really good. And by the way, fast travel exists in this game and it will never tell you this. Yeah, that's weird. A pro tip. You have to hold down at the safe points and then you can fast travel, but it never tells you this. You go the whole game and not know that. Is that unlocked in the beginning? Yeah, you can do that right here, right? It's crazy. Nobody knows. It's a secret to everybody. But caveat, it's a lot more fun to just traverse the game because the fast travel is really slow. It's like a load screen and then you go to a mirror room and then you have to find to really explain where you're going and it's really crappy. So like that alone makes you just kind of want to traverse on your own. Plus, you're backtracking to find stuff usually anyway like along the way. So that's nice. I'm probably going to switch to by the way. And it's a little, it's a little jank. Like it doesn't work great. So just as a recommendation if you're choosing a platform, I suspect PlayStation is great. And I bet PC and Xbox are good too. But like, yeah, I've seen a lot of complaints online about the Xbox version having input latency, like pretty significant input latency. I'm playing on PC and haven't noticed anything myself, but just be cautious. I'm on PS5, yeah, seems fine. And it's just, it's like it hitches. That's what it is. You know, it's like it's not like I'm being prevented from having fun or anything. I'm like, honestly, a portable Nintendo Castlevania is what I want, right? Like that is exactly like I wouldn't trade it, but like just fair warning. - Yeah, man, what a game. Who knew, like we knew September and October were just going to be absolutely jam-packed, right? And like, you know, we're all excited for a new Castlevania game from this developer, of course. But it's like, now it's even better than we kind of like thought it was going to be. - Yeah. - I mean, perfect timing. - I hope that people like this. It's a good time of year. Go back and play Prince of Persia after this. I was just going to say, we were speaking of Prince of Persia Lost Crown. This game also has similar like platforming challenges. - Yeah. - As you're exploring the Castle, you'll come across very specific platforming challenges that will lead to a chest or something or some kind of upgrade in there. They can be pretty tough. - I got stuck last night on an optional platforming challenge. I was stuck for like 15, 20 minutes, like just slamming my head against the wall, trying to get the timing down right. And it's real fun, real real fun. - I mean, yeah, there's ones that I was like, I can't do this yet. I'm clearly missing an ability. But then I realized that I wasn't. And like, there was a way to do it. It's really smart. - Yeah, 'cause you know, it's just everything compounds. You're swinging, you're using your whip to fling yourself over spikes. There are these special walls that you can make. - Yes. - You can make yourself go through them, but you have to press a button. And there are paintings you can jump into that are sliding around and you have to time when you're gonna shoot yourself out of the paintings. All this is like happening on this. - Pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time. - It's style like platforming, it's really clever. - We should mention, since it's a Castlevania game, we should mention the music, which I think is great. - Yeah, sometimes there's a, that they do an old jam that's re-orchestrated, which is really cool. - Yeah, I need to look up who the composer is. The music is very cool. It's, you see a very like typical gothic, you know, Castlevania style tunes, but it will veer into, I like the term dungeon synth, like kind of like 80s synth-wavey, synthy, arpeggiated bass line, that sort of stuff. And vocals that all have like singing a little bit. - Yeah, the chanting gothic chanting. And then you get to the library and it has kind of this hip-hop beat with, it sounds like a percussion, like they're banging on pots and pans. Sort of like a (imitates drumming) And we got there and King of was watching me play and he's never said anything like this before, but he goes, "Daddy, the library has a good beat." - Damn. - And I was like, "Yes." - It's cool. - And it just maybe, if you cast your minds back to 1986 or 1987, I'm eight or nine years old. I love Castlevania and the Beastie Boys. Fast forward to today. I'm playing a new Castlevania game with my son who tells me the library has a good beat. - That's very cute. - That's what it's all about. - And I know it's unpopular to compare everything to Silk Song, but I'm gonna do it. This game allows you to live out this kind of, you know, the type of game that Silk Song I think wants to be, which has really tough bosses. You have to play a few times, the runbacks sometimes have shortcuts so you don't know about this game, which is really clever. You have to get good at them sometimes. It's got all that going forward, it's hard. But what it has that Silk Song doesn't is that you can leave and just wail on a bunch of tough enemies somewhere, come back and just absolutely destroy a boss instead of learning the patterns. And like, I just want that option. That's what makes it a Metroidvania for me. So maybe other people don't and they think that makes it a baby game. But like, sorry, this is how these games were made and it drives me crazy that Silk Song is not that good. - Yeah, but Sam, that boss you mentioned, the like big robot machine boss, he has like three phases, but in between phases are platforming sections. So that's just to say that grinding isn't gonna help you with the, you know, grinding for experience isn't gonna help you with the platforming sections. - Yeah, so I, that one is has a Metroid escape sequence mid boss, which is like such a smart like nice. But more than that, I think this game is a lot more of a, kind of a Metroid inspired game than I expected. Like I thought it would take a lot of Castlevania elements, but it, you know, it, the way that you power up and, you know, the way the enemies don't drop a bunch of things that are super useful, you know, they're just for your kind of to stock your progress, it feels more like Metroid. Like, it really is missing like the card system that's like dropping things from enemies and grinding for weapons and so the night like, I do really like that about Castlevania, so it is same that there's a little bit of a thing they do though with, and Damon did one of these that I haven't done yet, but there's the boss, like the tarot cards are technically that. It's like literally a thing you absorb from a boss that becomes your skill and there seem to be optional ones. And so that's cool, that means that there's like, at least a dozen things you can go out of your way to like, but a lot of those are your main bosses anyway. By the way, I like the throwing cross-swip and by far the best. - Well, that's like the first one you get. - I know, I know, but they get more complicated to kind of employ after that. - Yeah. - Have you guys got the little bat that follows you? The familiar? - Uh, no. - It's just a power-up, like what Cheshire Chast, you know, one of your three things, you can-- - One of your runes, okay. - Yeah, it doesn't do, I'm just trying to figure out how it helps. Like, it bites for one damage every once in a while, but it's cute, you have a little pet bat. - Yeah, I've decided. I've decided I'm gonna play it. - There you go. - Ha-ha. - The system works. Yeah, Casua New Balance Curse is finally here. It's fantastic. It's an easier recommendation for a scoop nation. - Yep. - Easily one of my favorite games of the year. Even after playing it for over a week, I'm still looking forward to getting home and playing it tonight. There's been some good video games released this year. - Mm-hmm. (upbeat music) - Okay, we also got a new GJ6 trailer today. Actually, I haven't even watched the trailer yet. But Nick, Nick, you did a video-- - I'll watch it right now. - Yeah, let's put it on. - The trailer's so steamy. - That's what I heard. - Yeah, that's what I heard. - And figuratively. - Nick, you did a video on hidden details or something in Easter eggs? - Yeah, our editorial team, I believe it was Matt Perslow and Simon Cardi put together 33 details. Written piece, and I adapted that. I just basically shot it on video. And so if you wanna listen to me and my dulcet tones tell you about GTA a little bit, but be sure to check it out. But yo, the trailer's great. I think the biggest standout for me is the brand new Justice song that makes you some tame Impala, Sizzah, and Jesus Lizard. - Like the classic '80s, - Yeah, they all kind of collabed on just an incredible track called Flower in a Hurricane. And it's kind of the through line for this entire trailer and it's fantastic. It's kind of what I was, I think it's a more indicative of the overall tone that they're looking for with this GTA where it is. Still silly. And I think a lot of the silliness is gonna be reserved for the side characters. But this is I think a more mature cinematic single player story that they're going for overall tonally. And I really think that's a nice fit for the story that they are hoping to tell or what I think they're trying to tell. - I was thinking about that too. It's like the games keep getting more and more and more serious and sort of, you know, Hollywood, movie-esque. And then it just makes the sort of silly side stuff just like standout all the more. And like, you know, it is a video game, right? Like video games are, you know, toys at the end of the day. And so I don't, it doesn't bother me personally to just have insane off the wall, very silly side content. And then, you know, a little bit more serious main quest. But like the higher and higher the fidelity of these games get, it does start to feel a little bit more and more strange. I guess the yeah, 'cause the games are there. that way too. Like the side stuff could not be more weird. And then the main story, I mean, that's, that's not going for like elevated drama. That's going for mella drama. But even so similar, similar vibe. I know they're, they're making their own choices of what they show us here. But I think these are the best looking things I've seen of this game yet. Like it just looks better somehow. It's incredible. It's stunning. I can't believe that it's real. I can't eat the launch trailer. After all this time, the launch trailer for GTA 6 is here. The game's not quite here yet. We have one month to go. But the launch trailer for GTA 6 is here. Speaking of the kind of the goofy to serious ratio, I think one thing that they're showing in this is like, yes, they're showing that the steamyness, but a lot of the shots of the couple are like them smiling at each other and we're doing something goofy or just appreciating each other. And like that dynamic seems like that's going to be a draw in this game. And they've been having trouble getting that across, I think, because you've been seeing a couple does crime. It's body inclined. I just like how just they just seem to like really like each other and it just seems like a cool, cool thing you want to explore. It's very, you know, like middle-aged me. It's like, yeah, sure. Like you play as this couple and you do crimes and then you do a couple things. And like, but like, you know, like there are many, many teenage boys that are also going to be playing and enjoying GTA 6. And I'm just very curious to kind of like, how is this going to go across with the bros? Well, the thing that's fascinating is Rockstar has made a point and even a lot of our editorial coverage following that extended look that we had from Rachel makes a point to talk about that the romance is optional. Like a lot of these stuff, they are going to be in a relationship as part of the main story, but how you engage with that relationship is going to be optional. So you can hold hands to develop your relationship with Jason and Lucia further and go on dates and things of that nature. But based on what I'm seeing in this trailer, the romance feels pretty integral to me. Like it feels disingenuous to say that you don't get to engage with the relationship. When what I'm seeing here does seem very romantic. Not only are they just, you know, having sex are together, but this is very much a romantic, like they're into each other. Like they enjoy being with each other. And I think that's pretty interesting. I don't think we've seen that in a video game really. A game that tells in theory, you know, from my observation here, mature take on what a relationship could look like. Grand, they are committing crimes, but still like what an adult relationship looks like. That's nice. Which is very nice. It's like the polar opposite from GTA 5 with those three characters that just never stopped arguing in the whole game. That's a good point. I, you know, so I only have a base PS5, you know, in an Xbox Series X. I don't have a PS5 pro, but I did just buy a treat it myself to like a really powerful beefy new gaming PC that will hopefully last for like a long, long time. It has some good news about GTA. Well, this is this is the thing, right? It's like as I'm watching this stuff. I'm like, hey, it's unbelievable that this is just running that we're seeing it running on a console. I think I think the trailer says like, hey, captured on a PS5, I remember, right? Maybe not. Anyway, but like other footage just said that, even if this one didn't say that. But like, it just makes me think like, oh, I just really, really, really want this on PC now. Well, you might have it pretty close to now. Games be reporting four sources tell them four different sources tell them that it's coming to PC early next year. Everyone's saying they're different uncles that work at rock. What am I going to do? Not play it like a course. I'm going to play it next month. I mean, I'm absolutely double dipping. I'm buying this game for PlayStation 5 and I'm going to buy it again as soon as it's available on PC. I have no qualms of doing that. Yeah, we talked about this on next year in console watch this week, but GTA 5 took 18 months to come to PC and Red Dead 2 took a year to come to PC. So I just feel like the longer, the longer they have to wait, the easier the pill is to swallow as double dip. If it's like three months, then you're like, I just spent $100 on this game. Now I'm doing it again. I'm willing, I mean, I'm not made of money, but like I'm willing to double dip for me. It's like the cross save cross progression. It's like, please, please, please, like if I do the main story this fall on my PS5, can I please just go back and 100% it and mess around in the open world, you know, on the PC version. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I mean CD project has become like a leader in that and like really nailed it. But I don't even know if Red Dead has that. Yeah. And Crimson Desert does it like it's pretty, it's becoming maybe not like standard, but like very common. I mean, they better have cross save if they're going to justify doing the rock star launcher on PC is like, okay, at least give us cross save. Otherwise, why am I engaging with this service? It doesn't make any sense. There is for PC like GTA online, I think actually, I got a fact check that. Yeah, I don't know. But the fact that we're even questioning it as I think indicative of an overall problem. Yeah. And then between now and GTA six, we're also getting awkward enough time. Oh, yeah. But that's like a week. You know, I feel like people are going to be able to run through that. At least if you've played it before, like, oh, yeah, I've already been through this game and am I getting world warcraft forever? That's not out yet. I thought that was already out. No, it's in like a beta. And then it comes out that it comes out the fourth. But yeah, there's been news news, there's all the trailers and then we did a Logan had a great preview up this week that we were talking about before the show. But like, I think it's a little longer of a game than a weak play. And I am worried about juggling both because I absolutely, like this looks incredible to me too. I think it took me six months to play this and I know. Yeah. Yeah. And finals in college. Yeah. I got to know life this game before GTA comes up. But I'm going to, you know, the dilemma of working at IGN is I have other projects outside of playing games. I'm like, I actually don't know if I'm going to have time to play GTA 6. So it's like, oh, no. Yeah. Darn you adulthood. Can't just play games all day. So you're happy? I don't just get to play games. And we also, by the way, like working at IGN, this is a very, very nice and very fun place to work. But we unfortunately cannot just take time off of work to play GTA because you can't know like it. No, like we, you know, it's all hands-on deck for sure for this one. Yeah. One good thing is that if you have to miss Ocarina for now, it's a fantastic holiday feeling game for some reason. It just as always felt that way because it came out in November whatever reason originally. And so that's good. And then Castlevania is a really good holiday feeling game for October. So those are pretty good bookends for GTA. Yeah. I watched this new trailer with Kingo. And now the thing he's most excited for is this monster gallery. Brand new addition to the game loves that stuff. I mean, he did that. They had like where you could use a pictograph to take pictures of the enemies. And you had to get the perfect angle on the GameCube version to get those statues made. Yeah. Oh, job of job was so big in this game. It's great. I'm so curious about how like Zelda's had this second wind and second life is this like open world open, you know, climb anything game. And there's many, many millions and millions of, you know, younger gamers or gamers of any age that that's what Zelda is for them. Right. And like, like, nope, you got to do these dungeons. I mean, I guess you can do a couple of them out of order. But like, this is a linear game and you're doing things in order and you can't go where you want and do what you want. Like many, many people have been hungry for that style of Zelda to make a return. Obviously, some of the most beloved games of all time are that style. But like, you know, it's just I think it's going to feel strange if you didn't, you know, if Breath of the Wild and tears the Kingdom are like your thing. I'm very curious to see the conversation around this game for people who are picking it up for them first time to your point, coming from the open air Zelda games because like, if I look at it mechanically, like in theory, this is kind of a baby's toy in comparison. I think it's a really good baby's toy. But like, just mechanically, it's pretty, where is going to clip that? It's just it's a pretty primitive game overall, like by comparison to Breath of the Wild and tears of the Kim. So I'm just curious to see how people are going to react to it. Well, and scripted, you know, scripted scripted puzzles and set of puzzles that are like open in the, you know, diagetic to the in the game world, like all of that stuff. Yeah. So I can't, to your point, just not I'm also very excited to hear what Breath of the Wild introduced, you know, people that only played those games, well, to hear about this. And I can't wait to stop hearing up from the knitwits pointing out all of the things that are, you know, they don't like about the changes in it already. Because boy, that dialogue is insufferable. And it's like, I cannot believe they moved this eye in this ladder because when they did, it just, it's just a baby game now. It's just like, you guys, you don't need to act this way. The game is going to be the game. And if it's, if it's, you know, easier or worse or better, we'll find out we'll all get there together. You don't need to complain about it now. Yeah. There's no, there's no stopping people from being hoopleheads, though, unfortunately. Hey, when no matter what happens, if you want to complain about it, the faces look, that's fine. You that I'm fine. Cool with that. But like, you know, saying like, oh, they're going to ruin all the puzzles. Like, what are you talking about? If, first of all, if they change every puzzle in this game, that's good. That's called a master quest. And we all like that at one point. Mm-hmm. Yeah. No matter what happens, though, the game has a hook shot in it, which is pretty sick. Yeah. That looks crazy, too. Do you see the mechanics? Yeah. All the combat stuff, like the way the, like, the swords clang off of shields and just like the impact animations that they have just look so tasty. I mean, it looks incredible for a Nintendo game. Yeah. Yeah. It's too bad. The faces look so bad because everything else looks hoping I'll get used to them when I start playing. I mean, I don't care. You always just see links shield. Yeah, you're going to see this is the shot that you're going to see link most of the time. just his back. Yeah, but I think the way they expanded it and then drew in the detail is like it is incredible already just to see how they like stretched it wider and then just drew in like a bunch of texture like it's really cool looking. Operation wonderful. Okay, let's switch to PlayStation. Sony has announced a new Midnight Black PS5. It's quite a bit cheaper than the PS5s we have, but it's only for Japan. It's a digital only console. Let me read the actual sentence. Sony announced that it was launching a Japan-only all digital Midnight Black PS5 for $55,000 in which is approximately $350. Wow. Yeah. We used to get those. I mean, $350 is what the PS5 should cost us today six years. Yeah, we used to get this exact discount. The Sony executives got in the room and said, "Hey, should we release this thing in the United States?" They said, "No. We needn't bother." We needn't bother. Yeah, man. There are so many trade problems with that right now, right? Like there's reasons for this. Our digital PS5 is $600 today. So there's this nearly half what we have to pay. So there's a $250 difference. I don't think they pay $250 of tariffs on each unit. No. But the one thing to consider here is that Japan, like if you've been there recently, like the economy is really rough there. And they're based out of Japan. They want to sell, I bet they sell a lot more discs. In Japan, the point I wanted to make. Yeah, yeah. And so they really do need to get these in people's hands in Japan. I really wish we were getting a cheap, tidy PS5 out here. But this is digital only. No, I know. So Sony has already announced they're moving to a digital only ecosystem. So they need to get their Japanese consumers comfortable with that. I was not following yet. Now I follow. They'll entice them in. They'll see, they'll see on all digital, it's not so bad. But I got to, like one comment I made on the next gen console watch is like, what's the margin on this? Like they've got to be selling this at a pretty significant loss with the RAM shortages and all that stuff going on, right? I don't have time. Well, that's where they'll make up for that margin, but they're dynamic pricing, where they just charge you different amounts, based off of what time and night it is and who you are. I mean, that's a real thing, by the way. Every digital reef release is going to be just significant revenue for them in general, I guess. But I just don't know if it's enough to offset that I would assume staggering loss on this kind of hardware. Do they have much smaller? It is. I don't think it compared to that controller. I don't think it's smaller. It looks like the same size as your PlayStation 5 slim that you can get here. Oh, yeah. Oh, I thought it was small. I thought it was a small boy, but I guess we're seeing it next to the controller. I mean, look at the, look at the stand compared to it. Yeah. Well, I need a banana. Yeah, yeah, I need a banana. The black is nice though. Yeah, it is. They should at the very least maybe offer the midnight black. They should make it a rectangle also though. I mean, you can change your region on your PS5, but I think this one, it has to be like the system language has to be set to Japanese. Right. But at this point, muscle memory, you can navigate a menu in Japanese. You know how to get to the game like play GTA 6 on this bad boy and the game is probably going to have multiple language support at launch. So there you go. You just say Xbox play. I have an idea. Let's do this for a video. IGN sends me to Japan. I buy a PlayStation 5 and then we see if I can play GTA 6 on a Japanese only PlayStation 5. That's right. You bring you do just enough luggage so you can bring it home for free. And I was just going to bring this up. So there's a side attachment for discs still. Yeah. How much is that? I'm not sure. I don't know how much it goes for in Japan. It'd be really cool if they shipped that with each copy of a game you'd buy. Yeah, if you wanted to pick up a new copy of Castlevania, it came with this. It's the expansion came with docking. Yeah, it's 64. I meant to tell you, I was reading a 1989 issue of EGM and they had their game of the year awards and they gave out the regular awards and they had some silly awards. Like Wimpy's hostage went to the president from bad dudes. Anyway, they also had the hardest to pronounce game was nobody knows ambition. Not that hard, I don't think. That all those syllables exist in English. It's fine. Yeah. Well, apparently Castlevania order of Eglacea wasn't out yet. It's Spanish Sam. It's Eglacea. Eglacea. I was doing this allian. New rule, Sam, when I'm drinking, you have to hold your jokes. And so the liquid is fully cleared. I didn't do that for me the other way you revealed big news. Yeah, I forget what the big news was. Oh, well, it was that, I don't know, something Xbox was on Sony. Is that what it was? Oh, yeah. Hey, look, I'll go into Activision probably. Let's talk about studio getting shut down. It's not funny. It's just, Ubisoft is an house. It's shutting down red links. This is the developer of trials, which I've enjoyed many trials games. Yeah, this is a bummer situation. Red links was founded in 2000. They released trials as a browser game. Then they released trials HG on Xbox Lavercade in 2009. They were cool. Yeah, which was great. They trials. Oh, look at that arcade logo. Oh, my gosh. Also, we got the rare IGN triple watermark. I love the pile of water. First of all, these games were great. I feel like this is something that there's no reason why we shouldn't be getting a new trials game every couple years today. They're evergreen, right? I mean, like there's such, they're just a video game-ass video game. Like people think about games like hitting over it and baby steps. Like this is the something to these games. Benefoddy. Benefoddy. Benefoddy trials. It's such a good idea. Yeah, I mean, but the arc of like, like if you were to graph my enjoyment of every trials game, I'm like, oh, man, this is great. I love this. And then, you know, cut to like five hours later, I'm like, I fucking hate it. It just becomes, they just get so hard. And I love them and I have a deep appreciation for them, just as I do for that entire era of XVLA games, as I've said many times, like every trials game was an instant by an instant play. But like, but look, like there's no denying that like the appeal is niche, you know, like a motorcycle platforming game that's just brutally hard and specific in its controls and shifting your weight to like get over these like impossible jumps. Like, like, I like it, but it is kind of, it's kind of for like, sickos only. When did they ship a game recently? They had not shipped a game recently. So continuing the timeline, Ubisoft acquired them in 2011, then they put out a bunch of trials games. They were a support developer on Star Wars outlaws. Oh, and then last year Ubisoft announced it was laying off 60 employees and putting them to work on mobile games. And now they're shutting them down 26 years later. Wow. It's a shame. Yeah. I mean, also like that Star Wars game was great too. You know what? People have come around on Star Wars outlaws. Yeah. Oh, cool. I get sort of like random reddit poster. I was like, well, is everyone talking about this game is great. Everyone's like, every star is awesome. That's too bad. I tried to tell you all. It was really poorly timed for the hate on Star Wars era, you know? Yeah. I know we talked about Galactic Race or a few weeks ago. That game's incredible. So I started playing that too. That game's great. Parasad, that's his game of the year. Dude, he loves it so much. And he's like the world's biggest F zero fan, right? Well, yeah. And like it's to hear the perspective of like a super fan of F zero like that game. It just makes sense. And it's cool. And I love it. Yeah. I don't know. Sort of like the apex of hating on Star Wars was around Mandalorian and Grogu, which I think was has also been reassessed. Now that people watch it on Disney+. But now that we've gotten zero company and the movie. Yeah. A lot of people, I mean, the movie is not bad. You cannot say it's a bad movie. So now even people have actually watched it. They're like, oh, okay, this is actually pretty good. Now that they're watching it at home on their TV, like they would an episode of Mandalorian. Right. Right. Right. Right. Anyway, now that we got zero company in Galactic Race here, I wonder if people will be ready for Starfighter next spring. Star Wars Jedi Knight. Bring it back. Or at least another Jedi fall in game. Yes. For real. Right. Shadows at the Empire. Is that is it that soon for the next Star Wars movie? Yeah. Next spring they're going to put a new hope, the original, dude, addition of new hope in theaters, along with Starfighter. Wow. I am so excited for 77, a new hope. Yeah. We'll see how it looks. It's blown up. I'm ex dude. It's going to look, I mean, it's film. It's going to look incredible. Like it will look good. But like it's also going to look like it was made in a, you know, like a a costume shop by a bunch of like, you know. people that have never done this before, which it was. That's great. Okay, here's a couple of quick scoops. Uh, control has sold a million copies. Oh, easily in my top five of the year, control resident. Wow. I didn't realize. I missed her. Do I thought you just say a million, a million, one million control has a million has sold one million copies. Oh, but surely I thought you must have said three million or four million copies. Well, well, they're celebrating. They thought it was reason to celebrate. Thank God. I'd please let them keep making games. No, I'm not being a, I'm not being a hater. I just, you know, I don't know. Like games, just some games just pop off and like, like, oh, a million copies sold. So this, it just deserves more for a million games. First million of many. A million was a lot in 1997, you know, like it, it's, it's not anymore. You know, Square Enix would look at it as a failure now at this. No, it's the weirdest plot line, the Square Enix hating on their big sellers. Yeah. New Trumer sold five million copies in one week. Canceled head of Siri sells. Well, now come in. How to kitty. So we heard, uh, I checked, I'll make two sold a million copies in about the same time period three years ago. So that's published by Epic Games. Yeah. That's true. Um, yeah, I know you really like this one right now. I loved control resident. I took me about 35 hours and I adored every single second of it. Sam was a little less enthusiastic. Yeah, I just, yeah, you know, it's, it's a, it's a gray slog once you get to the open world. And I didn't like that, that, that part of it, that much. And, you know, I, I, I can see where the good game is and, and in it though. So, you know, there's just other stuff to play. I'm just on. Yeah. This is something I want to play more of. There's just a lot of stuff to play. And speaking of a lot of stuff to play, Fire Emblem fortunes weave as getting an expansion pass. It's coming in three waves. And wave one is out today. I'm going to record in this Thursday of this week. That comes with four new weapons. Wave two is out this holiday bringing three outfits and three allies. And then wave three will be next year. And that'll give you new stories featuring Bertrand Taliman. What is it? Oracle or chill? Bad. No, I don't know. They don't say the name of the game. No, no, I just haven't played it. I've only played like 10 hours. And I think I'm, I'll wait until they play 10 hours. And you, what, you don't know this character that's getting new stories. Yeah, the only one who's getting a story that I care about is Anatolia, who is the, the, the none with the gun. And that's what I like. They're also getting. They are also getting new stories. But also like fun, fun fact. I originally there was going to be like eight flame lords who are the main like four that you play as in this Fire Emblem game. And everyone kind of speculated because of the abilities that they, these other characters have that they were originally going to be four other storylines that were added to the base game. But the desk probably like maybe eight main characters is too many. Each with their own like padding and routes and stuff like that. But it sounds like they're kind of diving into that a little bit. So that's, that's pretty exciting. I mean, I'm eager to revisit Fortune's weave back when there's maybe less on my plate in terms of games I'd like to play. What was your main criticism? Is it too easy? Well, it's, it's a mix of the two easy because everyone's like the heroic games are where it gets challenging. And yeah, there are a little more challenging. But for the most part, like, I feel like I'm never making tactical choices when I'm playing at least for the first 20 hours of a Fire Emblem game. And I don't know that I want to invest the other 15 hours to get to a point where it actually gets like, okay, now I got to put my commander hat on and think about it a little bit. That and also just like a lot of the, hey, have a tea time with the parrot. Pet it a little bit. Did you say the right answer? Yeah, bird time. That's stuff like that. It's just like it nickel and dimes you. Logan, I was chatting with Logan about it the other day. He put it so nicely and Tom marks that the the game taxes you in these very small ways that aren't that big of a deal. But when there's other things that you want to play, it kind of gives you an excuse to like, I'll come back to this. But also that came, how long to be it says that this game is 116 hours long? I was just going to bring this up. So, you know, we've been, you know, working on this guide for a while now. And, you know, the guide writers doing it, like, there's four ways to kind of get through the game and like the sections are so long. It's like, if there's that much content and they're putting out more content, which is why we're talking about this right now, which is funny. Like, that's great for people that like it. But when I hear what Nick just said, where it's like, oh, it's not that clever of a fire emblem, you can see like why there might be that much content is that the focus is not on these intense tight, smart little battles, but on living this RPG life, which is like, no, what I want from a fire. Frankly, I got my fill in three houses, you know. I still really want to really want to play fortunes. We've, I just need to find some time to really cool setting. And I think that the story is actually pretty interesting. That's good. Our final quick scoop is this amusing quote that's making around these days or today from Activision Chief Marketing Officer Tyler Baal Bahi was asked about the prospect of GJ6 and the Ocarina of Time remake, both launching in November and creating a video game, Barb and Hymer moment that might drown out Call of Duty. And his response was, well, no offense to Zelda, but GTA and Call of Duty are the two biggest games of the year. I thought that was pretty good. I don't think about that. All they needed to do was come up with a cute name for combining Ocarina of Time and Grand Theft Auto and move on. Ocarina of Crime. There you go. Boom. I like it. Yeah, that's not bad. That's not bad. What about for Call of Duty though? Call of Duty and Call of, not a time to duty. I don't think they're going to go with that one. Okay, that brings us to video game 20 questions. Our suggestion this week comes from Nick Pappas, who says, "Recently traveled to San Antonio for an amazing show, anthrax, mega death, and iron maiden." My fiancee and I were able to spend time with someone. I think Damon will recognize and I want to share two things. So we have a photo here, Joe, where can we bring up our photo? Whoa. So this is Nick Pappas with Scott Ian from anthrax, guitarist for anthrax. More recently touring with Mr. Bungle, Mike Patton's other band. Well, he has a lot of bands, but another band from Fifth and More. Anyway, so he says, first two things, he says, "This guy is a delight." Scott Ian is a delight. Can we take a moment? So Nick Pappas is wearing a Game Scoop shirt with Scott Ian. So Scott Ian has at the very least seen the Game Scoop logo, but also Scott Ian is wearing a widow's base shirt. That's all. I think something I think about all the time is like I just saw an interview with not Matt Damon the other way. Ben Affleck. Ben Affleck where he talks about how he got obsessed with Starcraft and played it for years and years and years, like just Starcraft. He was all into it. And my thought was like 100% Ben Affleck has been on IGN in his life. If you played Starcraft for three years and you were that hardcore into it and you're a man of a certain age, it's absolutely happened. Anyway, that's it. I just think about that sometimes. He was on IGN babes. Just what you're saying. It's called dudes. Sam, he was a dude. My very first, my very first D3 working with IGN, a friend of mine who was an actor in LA was like working a booth and I interviewed and he was like in like a, it was I think it was for army of two, something like that or Hayes. He was like playing a role of a soldier. I did an interview with him and I called it interview with a booth dude. Anyway, that's all. Yeah, that's good. Nick says, so he says, Scott Ian was a great guy. He says, I once, oh first he says, walking around the show in this shirt, his Game Scoop show, he says, I got a lot of shout outs of Omega Cops. So know that the Goose Camp, the Goose Camp legacy is strong among metal gamers and they show love proudly and without reticence. On to the 20 questions suggestions. He says, I once ran into Scott Ian at E3 around redacted and stopped playing this game to say hello. Okay, well, we know when it came out. We can, yeah, we can pull you know, brutal legend next. Yeah, let's came out between 1996 and 2019. The game. That's true. That actually did give us a quite a free timeframe because it happened in each three years. Is this a spooky game? No. What? What are we even doing? Sorry, sorry, sorry. Is this in the Xbox 360 era of consoles? No, was this a portable game? No. I thought you said you stopped playing it to. He was at E3. Oh, it was, I see, I see. But we did play portable games at E3. So that was, did this, was this game developed by a developer published by a first party? No. Uh-oh. Did this game come out on an Nintendo platform? No, that's five. So it's PS2 or Xbox. Is it older? Well, or it's newer? Well, but E3 would be dead. Yeah, E3 though. Is it, is it, is it older than the 360 era? Yes. Cool. This is going to be a great game. I can feel it. Yeah. Was this a bad game? No, no. Is this a console exclusive? Yes. Oh. Yeah, Nick, you got by, I don't know why I phrased my question. It's such a weird way. That's such a better way. So we just need to know if it was a PS or Xbox. Yeah, exclusive to an Nintendo console. No, no, no, no, no. Why? He already eliminated that it was not available at an Nintendo console. Oh. Well, okay. So no Xbox. Yes, it was an exclusive to a Xbox console. No. Wait, do you mind me? Yeah, it's all right. I'll go grab some batteries. You said no, not exclusive to a Xbox console. Not to an Xbox console. So that means it was exclusive to a Sony console before, so either PS1 or PS2. But not developed by, so not developed by Sony is where we're. Which was a common thing. Yeah, many, many, if there's, yeah, so, okay. So easily it could be a Final Fantasy. Yeah, I think it's, I think it's Final Fantasy X. Was this game potentially available in a booth at E3 that wasn't the Sony booth? So from another giant publisher. Or the major revelation. Sorry. Last two slides. It's a, it's a PS1 or PS2 exclusive. Okay. Now it wasn't made by Sony. And Damon is about to tell us that this could have been in another person's booth. Not, not Sony's. Yes, that's correct. That's also 10. 10 questions. Okay. I think it's Final Fantasy X. Was that booth maybe Square Enix, Konami or Capcom's booths? No. Whoa. Great. Okay. It's so many Sony's. Was this a Japanese game? Yes. Yes. It could be Capcom. It could be Symphony of the Night. Wait, do you ask Konami? I said Konami, Capcom, and. No. You just said Square Enix, Konami. Was Capcom the third one? Yeah. I'm losing it. It's two in a row where I'm just completely losing my mind. So it's not those big three. But it could be Koi Tecmo or Namco or something like that. And then you asked an immediate follow-up of was it Japanese? Yeah. It is. Okay. I'm caught up now. Sorry. But we still don't know if it's PS1 or PS2, correct? No, we don't. Is this on the PlayStation 2? Yes. Got. PS2 exclusive Japanese game. Not made by Sony. Not made by Capcom. Konami Square Enix. That's where we're at. So. Third party. Koi Tecmo. I mean, there's just so many. Like, obviously, the PS2 is like dominant, right? It's like everything was. Is this an RPG or a platformer? No. I'm just going to ask that. It's great. Okay. Is this an action or sports game? I'm going to say no. That's 15. Oh, no. So it's not. Are you going to say no or is the answer? Who is making fighting games at the time? Yeah, Tecmo was living dead or alive. What if it's a dynasty warriors? Maybe it's like a dynasty warriors. Like a bloody roar or two or something. A tech and tag tournament or something? Is this tech and tag tournaments for a good guess? Because Namco is not one of the devs we eliminated. Is this publisher still publishing video games today? Yes. Okay. Should we, do we want to try to find out if it's a Koei, Tecmo or. I think we just have to do those too. There's got to be a really big Japanese publisher that I'm missing that's still making games. Who does all the RPGs? Not well Atlas. Sega Atlas. Yeah. Sega. There's Sega. But we, well, it's not an RPG though. So it's like if. Is this a Sega, Koei, Tecmo or Namco game? Yes. Okay. Tech and tag tournament. Do we know that it's a fighting game? No, we just, we got a, we got a testy answer to his at an action game. And so now we're extrapolating. An action game is Shinobi, you know? How about this? Is multiplayer the focus of a major focus of this game? Sure. Yes. Okay. What do we have? One question in a guess. I wouldn't know which tech it would be because it's got to be a tech in. I feel like it's a tech. It doesn't got to be. It's got to be a tech. It's a heavy multiplayer game. It's developed by a Japanese publisher. It's on the PS2. Multiplayer is a heavy focus. But we have Koei Tecmo. So it could be Dead or Alive. It could be Tekken. Dead or Alive was on Xbox at the time. Oh yeah, you're right. That was actually. It was heavily associated. If not exclusive. It was exclusive, I believe. Yeah, I think you're right. That's a good call. Crazy. Okay. I think it's tech and tech tournament. Well, I think tech and tech tournament might have been a PS1 game. I think it might have been like a tech in four or something. No, no tech and tech tournament was PS2. Oh, okay. Tech and three. Tech and three was on PS1 and then maybe one more. But then they were PS2 after that. Is this. Are we out of questions? Or do you solve more? Do we want to determine if it's a tech and a question? Or a tag tournament? No, I think fighting game is the move. And then I think it's tech and tech tournament. Or let's ask if it's a tech and game. And if not, then we got a better shot. Is this a game in the tech and franchise? No. No! What? Is it one of the. Bloody Roar. Was that ever on PS2 or was that PS1? We don't. We don't know it's a fighting game. Sega could have done racing. Yeah. Well, I guess we have sports. Sonic. Well, I don't think there'd be like a Japanese sports game on PS2 that'd be at E3 though. But they said it's not a sports game. They said it's not a sports game. You have a racing. Yeah. Oh, Ridge Racer maybe. That's a pretty good guess. I don't think that was multiplayer. And that don't. No, no, no emphasis on multiplayer, but that's why I kind of think it's a fighting game. Yeah. Okay. I think that. What was the name. What was the name, franchise you named? Dead or alive? No. No. The other one. The Namco one. Bloody Roar. Yeah. Bloody Roar maybe. Sega. Yeah. I mean, I think that's not the worst guess we're missing. I think it's too skewer. No virtual fighter would have been on Dreamcast, right? Like, I don't think there was a PS2 virtual fighter. Mm-hmm. I don't think there was. I think there was, but it was probably like a plused up version of the last Dreamcast one, if I remember right. I think there's B. What do you want? What do you guys want? I bet it's a. I bet it's a Sega game. Because what was Namco even doing at that time? They were just doing like, yeah, they were doing Namco Museum and Point Blank. What if it's Namco Museum? Who was a. What's that game? Okay, okay. Hear me out. There's a game that. It's a spin-off of a fighting game. It's an action game called Death By Degrees and it stars like. It's the. What fighting game is she from? Is it. Is it Dead or alive? Is she on Dead or alive? It might be Dead or alive. I don't know. Is Nick Spinnan out? Is that multiplayer? Death By Degrees is a single player spin-off action game featuring a character from a fighting game. We can also lose by asking a final question that's not the game. It's either Dead or alive or like Bloody Roar or Virtua Fighter. It's not Dead or alive though because we know that that's Xbox. But I don't think the volleyball game was. Oh, Dead or alive Beach volleyball? I thought it was an Xbox exclusive. I think they. Because Team Ninja did that one and they were doing like. Well, whether they were Xbox exclusive or not, they were definitely not PlayStation. Yeah, like Ninja Gaiden was only on Xbox and that's the same developers as Dead or alive. Yeah. I don't know. Dead or alive seems like a PlayStation-ass series to me. Maybe not? No, not back then. I think it's either like a Virtua Fighter or like one weird game like Bloody Roar or something. Go for it. Is this Virtua Fighter 3? It's not Virtua Fighter 3. It's by Namco. Did we not establish it by Namco? I think you asked that specifically. Is it a Namco game? It was along with Sega. With other games. Anyway, this game is Ridge Racer! Bye! Launch game. Launch game. We want to get it. PS2 launch game. I mentioned Ridge Racer at some point. I'm not going to take this up with the committee, but we did eliminate this because we said it wasn't a sports game. And that can trip us up. Yeah, except racing is like its own genre. Would you say that if you had to say, is this a sports or racing game? I think it's an extreme sports game, but I don't know. I call the shenanigans a multiplayer being a heavy focus. There is multiplayer about that. This game came to two platforms. PS2 and arcade. So I would just be surprised. That's why it's not running for games. Fair now. Fair now. I'm just being a sore sport. Why does this look so good? That's because Ridge Racer always does look good. It does look incredible by the day. Amon's made his opinions known that anyone that's a athlete. I watched like at least the first three or four like I choose random ones after that like every year. - It's not the masterpiece that the original is, but it's not that bad. - The hospital one? - Yeah, it's brutal. - Like when he kills a dude in the like hot tub? - That's brutal. It's a girl actually. But the craziest part of that movie I think is at the very beginning when they get to the hospital, a woman is driving up and taking her son to the ER because he has a giant razor blade stuck in his mouth. - No. - And it's like that thing, the horror story, it's like it actually happened to that kid. - Ooh, that's the worst part of the movie. - Anybody know when that happens? - Yeah, I know. - Okay, Scoob Nation, it is time to be humbled. FAQs

The new Castlevania game is a modern reboot inspired by the 1998 Symphony of the Night style. It features a similar gothic aesthetic and gameplay, but is not part of the Netflix series canon. The developers aimed to bring back classic Castlevania elements with a fresh, visually stunning presentation.

The game features a whip-based traversal system, dynamic combat with a variety of weapons and runes, and platforming challenges that require precise timing. It also includes destructible environments, hidden secrets, and a robust progression system where players can upgrade and customize their combat style.

Players gain experience and level up, unlocking new weapons, abilities, and upgrades. Combat is flexible and responsive, allowing players to improvise strategies. Enemies respond to player actions, and the game offers a Metroidvania-inspired structure where progression is tied to exploration and boss encounters.

Yes, fast travel exists but is not clearly communicated in the game. Players must hold down on a safe point to use it, and it's flagged as a secret feature. However, the fast travel is slow and clunky, so most players prefer to explore manually.

GTA 6 is expected to launch in 2025, with a trailer released recently showcasing its mature tone and romance-focused narrative. It is set to come to PC earlier than previously anticipated, with reports suggesting early 2025 availability.

A new, cheaper PS5 model called the Midnight Black PS5 is only available in Japan as a digital-only console. It is not available in the U.S. or other regions and lacks physical disc support, though it offers a more affordable price point for Japanese consumers.
