Please be excited. Oh, you threw something in there that was a little bit of a twist. I know. Please be excited. I'm here to talk about just dance. That's why I'm on today. Please be excited for all that. She's got the brain scramblies. But first, Halo has a new home. After nearly 20 years under the stewardship of three, four, three industries and then Halo studios, you have my attention. I'm going to take a big drink of water here, and let me know where it's going. The next tale game will be developed by Activision. I can't believe we did it. Wait, not the call of duty Activision. No, the pitfall Activision. Yeah, David Crane is coming back to make the next tale. That was a, that was the best thing I've ever seen. I'm sorry. Now I have, no, I've coconut flavor like Kyle. Sam will commit to the bit. That was good. Yeah, I'd like to get, I think in this, for this group, Sam and Justin are probably the Halo guys. So I want to get your take on this. But I want something I want to point out. First, of course, bungee. Mark's only seen the show. Yeah. Yeah. The show, the show's real good, guys. He's only seen season two of the show. It's his Star Wars. You know, Halo is my Star Wars. Yeah. So that's a fact. Bungie made Halo. Bungie made five Halo games in 10 years. That's how it's, that's how game development is supposed to work. Every two years, you have a new game in your, in your popular series. 343 was formed in 2007. Didn't ship a Halo game until 2012. And they've only shipped three new Halo games and that nearly 20 years. So it does, well, when you put it like that, when I put it like that. And also when you consider that Activision for all the criticisms that can be, uh, love you to Activision. One thing they are good at is getting games out the door, light clockwork year after year. Call of duty is not missed a year and 20 years. So I'll give you another one too. Activision, uh, another nice thing you can say about them. They're not EA. Does that win me any fans? Yeah. I don't know. When EA was the big enemy. Worst company in the world, right? All right. Those are all the details that I wanted to throw out there. Sam, what do you think about the next Halo coming from Activision? I don't even have a hot pick on this. It's just like, it's, it's a surprising turn of events that if they can make more than one Halo game a decade, that would be fantastic. Yeah. And if they bring back the grappling hook, I'm all in. That's it. I like Infinite. Yeah. Infinite's great. Yeah. I, you know, it was like, you know, uh, Halo studios, I feel for them three, four, three, they made three pretty, pretty good Halo games, but just, you know, some iffy decisions on the single player side in their first game. And some iffy decisions on the multiplayer side. And iffy decisions are named their company Halo. Yeah. And then they get renamed Halo and then they get disbanded. It makes me sad. I don't really like the Activision of it all doesn't mean anything to me in particular because it's going to be a new team, right? Like they're spinning up a new sort of Halo Halo specific team. So there's an element of kind of like palace intrigue of like, you know, why, like why not? What does this mean for Xbox game studios? Because that seems to be the real kind of thing here is like, you know, there's a lot of change on that side of the house. But um, you know, I don't know. A lot of stuff above video games makes me sad in 2026, but what particularly makes me sad is that it's frequently kind of like not enough to just make a really good game that a lot of people like. And then that bumps me out. Yeah. I mean, I said some of those other teams got to work within, I mean, I know they're being dismantled, but it got to work within Halo, just not making the big, you know, FPS games and made, you know, a metroidvania or something. That, that, that, that's a well went from Halo is like, like a lot more Halo in different formats and not just an RTS, which was fun. Yeah. I want more of this universe. It's a great built out universe and I want to see more of it. But I think Activision, um, you know, delivers games regularly and they're not everybody's favorite called duty game all the time, but like they act, they do deliver them. And I think their engine was pretty awesome recently. And they made a, I know it's a different team, but they did a really great campaign a couple of years ago for, for called duty. I know all that stuff's just like in, in people's minds when they think about, you know, Activision taking on Halo or it should be it. I'm sure that's a Microsoft was thinking because like, let's face it, like what do we want the most? We want Bethesda to work on a Fallout or Elder Scrolls game. We want, you know, someone great to make a great Halo game. Like they're, they're, they're kind of checking the boxes. I mean, one of my boxes wasn't, uh, you know, take on Kojima's next set of movies, TV serial and video game franchises, but serial probably. Oh, that's, that's a good idea. Don't think what would the, what would the fizz and O's be called? Yeah. So despite Damon's intro, I'm actually a huge Halo fam. And I, uh, I don't know. I don't know what to think of this because it's, it's tough. Halo hasn't been relevant in a very, very long time. Yeah. Exactly. This is a point I'm going to make. I'm interested to see if they're able to kind of bring it back from relevance. Xbox has this thing where they've kind of had, they have their, their gears and their, their Halo and their Forza and they have just stuck with it, right? Where, you know, Sony kind of just moves on and it's like, okay, we're not making uncharted anymore. It's probably not the best decision. They probably should make another uncharted, but Xbox six with their franchises probably well past their relevance. And so I'd be interested to see if, if Halo can ever kind of come back and, and be this like, the powerhouse that it was. Yeah. I mean, the apex of the franchise was probably Halo three, right? Which was 2007. And correct me if I'm wrong. Wasn't the first modern warfare 2008. The following year. So it's kind of like after that, Call of Duty totally took over. And then all the free-to-play shooters, the Fortnite, Apex Legends and all that. So it's like, yeah, like you're saying, Mark, Halo is barely relevant today. And I think if they'd, you know, if they just announced the next Halo from Halo studios, I think it might be good, but there just wouldn't be a lot of excitement around it. But giving it to Activision gives them this chance to reset. Like now. When they announced the next Halo, now that it's coming from the studio within Activision, I think that will probably drum up, you know, more excitement than just the next Halo from Halo studios. The weird thing is, is my, you know, they have a couple of directions they can go. They can either continue or reboot Master Chief story or just start original. And I don't think either of those super work, right? Because being like, here's Master Chief. He's 90. And here he is. He's still obviously in Game War, like in video game world. Like the dude has just been around forever. And like, there's just so much backstory there. But then if you make a new Halo, and it's like, this is our new protagonist, people are going to be like, what? Where's Master Chief? I want Master Chief back. They are 100% going to reboot the game. You mean from the start? Yeah, I think it's going to remake Halo one to third time. Well, yeah, but it's, but it's going to be like a, like an actual, like a new, like, Halo one, but not like remake, like, you know what I mean? Interesting. Yeah. I think it's going to be Halo one. It's going to be Halo one, but, but redone. Okay. That's what I think that's my prediction. My prediction is that they're going to make Cortana a little bit more sexy again. And then people are going to lose their minds. 20 million copies. Yeah. Halo, it's one of those franchises of like their fans, you know, and I say this as a, as a cranky dad, but like Halo fans are all cranky dads, right? And like, that's what it's just a total dad game. And like, I don't know, I don't know how you, like, how you get around that or get out of the, like, you know, it's just shooters have just moved on, right? And I love, I absolutely love Halo's gameplay loop and like the pace of combat and, and that it's, you know, physics-based and sandbox and, you know, like, to me, to me, it's like, it's perfect. Like, it's exactly what I want, but it's not really what, like, the mass market has sort of wandered for a while now. Like, it's kind of, I mean, that's what you were saying earlier, Damon. It's just not really relevant anymore. So I think they could benefit from doing the kind of Nintendo thing that happened before and you're going to hear it. You get a rainbow cards breath the while where you take the fundamentals and you say, is that what is, what is this game about? Is it about Master Chief? Is it about Sexy Cortona? Is it about the Halo rings? Is it about purple? The color purple? But was that not Halo Infinite? Yeah. Okay. And then you take all those, or do you say, hey, this is actually a game about being able to hop into a vehicle and have a crazy advantage for a little bit, but that, you know,
know, but that's in a, you can also take out that vehicle this really specific way. And that leads to this, you know, crazy frenetic combat that it's kind of sandboxy, right? Like there's like, there's these fundamentals of Halo that you could take and it's be like, this is what made it fun. And it's not all of the obvious stuff. It's like what we felt like when we were playing it. And, and that is what's what you could expand on and reboot. Damon, what year did Halo Infinite come out? 2021, same year. So four to five. Horizon five. They announced the announced as part of the news, you know, this week that like they're starting to staff up a Halo team, starting to do that. And so it's like, dude, like it is going to be, it's going to be 10 years between Halo games. Like we don't know. We don't know how Activision works because they, they seem to have more, more, more studios than ever making call duty at a crazy clip. I think, I think minimum three years, which is still almost 10 years. Like, okay, three years from now. I'm saying three years from now. They make a Halo game in 2029. That's still almost 10 years. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'll play it. I'll be there. Yeah. And then what's the, what's the engine situation? Mark, we talked to none of us might be here. They were on slipstream for infinite. And then they announced that they were switching to Unreal five, which is what campaign involved is made in. Yeah. So I think that call a duty doesn't use, call a duty doesn't use Unreal. So who knows? No. No. But if they stuck, which would be weird, because they wouldn't be able to use their, they're, you know, dull and know how, but if they stuck with Unreal, then they kind of have a lot built already. Yes. I don't know what's going to happen. Yeah. Infinite. This game is taking on an existing project. We don't know. According to reports, infinite was supposed to not infinite. I'm sorry. Campaign of all was supposed to be a test for them to make something using Unreal five. And then they were like, shit, this is actually pretty good. We should just sell this. And so, so they've done that. My guess is they'll probably stick with Unreal five. Yeah. Maybe I don't know. New team, like, I think that they're just burning Halo to the ground and starting over. So it's like, I don't think I would, yeah, I'm a notable Unreal five hater. So hopefully they don't. Yeah. I think Xbox has this, this wind at their sales by trying to try to push games out, including Elder Scrolls fast. And I wonder if they're going to do a bunch of Activision style like, you know, accelerated development corner cutting and, yeah, who knows, AI development and stuff to, to make this happen a little bit faster. Because I don't know why they'd announce it otherwise. Like, what's the point of this? Like why? I mean, it wouldn't be, I mean, I know, I know that the franchises have nothing to do with each other. But like, it's not the worst idea to be like, you know, alternate, alternate years. Like Halo and Call of Duty are now going to trade off. And then we don't need to have a Call of Duty every year. Yeah. I don't, I don't think I don't know that that'll ever happen. Well, this is, you guys will think this is interesting. Speaking of halos, you know, we talk about it's a relevancy. But this year for Halloween, Kingo wants to be a master chief. Yeah, this year. And it's all because our local barbecue spot has that Halo arcade cabinet, that Sam, you made a video on like 10 years ago, the four player. You did it with Miranda and Brandon Tyrell, uh, probably Ryan McCaffrey. And he's just become, he's like totally into master chief now. My daughter, one of my daughters wants to be Alexander Hamilton. That's pretty good. There it is. Okay. Oh, you guys go. Yeah. So I got to get a master chief. And also for the Cortana of it all, Sam, they should just make Cortana Tifa. There you go. There you go. I mean, I feel like you should be in charge of Activision with a suggestion like that. Thank you. It's just thank you. Somebody gives you material. Somebody gets it. And then speaking of arcade games, we had our first visit to Dave and Busters because there was a birthday party. We'd never been before. We'd been to like Chuck E. Cheese, but Dave and Busters. It's the one in Torrance with a very sad day of the dead looking mall that's empty. And Dave and Busters is cavernous and dark and there are dozens of arcade cabinets and ticket redemption machines. The only thing Kingo wanted to play, the only game was Minecraft Dungeons. That's all he would play because you get car, you get actual physical cards every time you play. And then the next time you play, you scan it to get like armor or a crossbow or something. He was totally obsessed with it. Now he won't. When can we go back to Dave and Busters? The fun. Yeah. Minecraft touch. It's on your PS5. I know. And I'm going to have to get it for you. But there's no cards. There's no cards. The the newest Pokemon pinball machine from a Stern. All all pinball machines can be made into ticket redemption machines. But I fried a mine who's very, very good at this stuff. Put a Pokemon machine at the the Japan town mall here at San Francisco. That kicks out Pokemon cards. Dude, that thing probably prints money. Yeah. It's it's so smart. Yeah, it's in the right location. And it just it does that one like little trick. And I just think it's so clever. Wolverine. Okay. Sam, you finished Wolverine. I did. Now in the last episode, you were like the lone defender of Wolverine. Yeah. So I was defending the elements of the game, which I think that people were clowning on early, not just the screw, not the screw specifically, but that, you know, that those might not be the worst elements of the game. They are they are the worst elements of the game. Now I can't remember what we were talking about specifically, but I did want to see how the story wrapped up. But here's the problem is that the game goes on and on. I know that that sounds totally fine. But there's this level in the tick for Super Nintendo. First level, it's called night of a thousand ninjas. And that is what happens in this game. You get a level or 10 with ninja, just a billion of them. And you fight them. And then the next level is robots, and you fight a billion of them. So that goes on for a long time. And it really does stretch out. And it makes it so the story, which really focuses on Jean and Logan, not like there's not like a late game like, oh, look at all these characters coming in. This is going to be super interesting. And mixing it up. No, it's just like the cast from the beginning kind of meeting each other and being friends or enemies and friends are enemies. And that kind of feels a little bit like the karate kid TV show where you're like, okay, like season seven, you're like, okay, whoever's friends and enemies now doesn't really matter to me as much. They're just going to fight anyway. So that's kind of how it all resolved. But yeah, it's not not a good game. And it's not fixable in a lot of interesting ways. It has impolished moments that it sets up a ton at the end. Like a ton. And we're doing an ending explained video next week that if you're going to skip this or if you're going to play it and want to see, I sent our editor, Jesse Shedin, who's working with the game help team on this, all of my questions. And they're they're plentiful because they're all related to these characters with these little things that they introduce where it's like, oh, that's a giant storyline. So that's all part of the spider menu diverse, right? I think that's what's interesting. Like if there's never another Wolverine game, like these characters do exist in an X-Marvel universe now. And then the last thing I'll say is that a ton of people are playing this game. Again, we get internal stats. We can see how it's doing and it's extremely popular for what I would even think would be easy guide pages. So that means that kids, which is funny because this game's super gory and super f-bomb played in. And then just the general public are playing this. Yeah, it's not, I mean, look, Wolverine's not bad. I think I think our six is completely spot on, right? Like it's an okay video game. And then I like it's you see this kind of reverse backlash of like people are playing it. And like, I don't think it's bad. I'm having a good time. And it's like IGN also did not think it was bad. We thought it was okay, which like that. Also qualified that I thought it was much better for the first six hours, right? Like it's totally fine to like be six hours into an 18 hour game being like, well, what will the last 12 hours? That's too long for it to be okay. The six is the games that are sixes of the hardest to talk about. It's much easier when a game is very good or when a game is bad. Yeah, I think I think most people probably would agree with the six. They just don't realize that they would agree with the six. Like they would probably give their thoughts and then be like, oh shoot, okay, yeah, it is a six because that's where I'm at. I love Liam McIntyre. Big Spartacus fan. I agree. Oh, man, this game is, you know me, big PlayStation fanboy. I love everything they make. They don't do anything wrong. Not loving Wolverine guys. I'm sorry. I can't do it. I don't mind him. The acting for that character, I think, is fine. I don't have a problem with that. And I think it looks good as animated. Well, I think Gene Gray is like miscast. They need to do the thing that they did with Tom Holland's face in there and just like swap it out. She's just not a compelling character to watch. And it's not great. You know, it's like, Gene Gray is a pretty great character in the Marvel universe and she's done dirty in this. But I think Logan's really well done in it. Yeah. Yeah. And Troy Baker as Troy Baker. Dude, that's so weird. It is. It's what's weird about it is he played the bad guy in Miles Morales and these universes are connected. Yeah. So it's just like, there are more. He's British. I think the difference. I think Troy is great. Like he's obviously he's the best.
There is what he does by, okay, he's not Wolverine. But anyways, there are more people, there are more actors. It's weird, right? Might want to give one of them a shot. Yeah, but Wolverine's done well, and I love how tiny Wolverine is compared to Saber 2, that's a good detail. Make him sure. And then, and if you're like really do check out IGM's review of this, because if you just out there going by the social media, it's like kind of Twitch streamer opinions about this, all those things that they're talking about are not the problem with the game. Like following, you know, fart gas around, like who cares? Like that's not what this game is about. Like it's, it's, it's stupid. But also, like, have you played the Witcher? Like, it's filled with that. So, you know, it doesn't hurt it to like tune it up or down. That doesn't really matter. The combat is, is just what you should think about, like, self fighting the same enemies over there, over and over again, is what you should think about the story. Like, you know, the characters and the, the kind of like the white paint and stuff, like it doesn't matter too much. And it's definitely not an open world game. There's not a single moment that it's even trying to tell you that it is. So, don't worry about that. Well, I've still only played a couple hours. I was focusing on Onimusha, which I love. But then I got a couple games that are coming next month. So, I've switched my attention to that. But also control resident is out now. We give that one an eight out of ten. But Sam, I think you were saying that that one's not really landing for you, either, is that right? I think it's making all the right moves. It's not like Wolverine. Like, it's not like, oh, it made like a bunch of bad decisions right off the job. Except for the one that our, our, our reviewer does call out, which is that the boss fights, you figure them out. And then they just go on for a really long time. And there's one right up front where you're like, oh, what, this is, it's just, it's boring. I'm not saying like, it's hard. It's just like, you just have to do it for a long time. And if you die, you, you've learned the stuff and you're like, okay, I'm going to find 30 minutes later to do this boss fight. Like, I don't like games that make me do that. But just generally, what I like about control just isn't in this game. So I, that's just me. It's, it's like, I like walking around that weird motel and the game telling me about like, you know, this twin peak seaside of it. It has that, it's done differently. And then the action game, after coming off of Wolverine, just going to say it, now put a bad taste in my mouth from mediocre action. And I needed a palette cleanser. And this just wasn't it. So I'm not criticizing this game. I'm playing games that I really love right now. But this is not the game I need right now. I just don't want to play it, the open world, it's not really open world. It's kind of like Wolverine. We, you get out to an area, it's fair. It's kind of, you know, there's parts that look more psychedelic and cool. But like, a lot of it's like Manhattan grade buildings, kind of run around them and jump around them a lot. I'm pretty far in this game too. And like, it doesn't change enough for me. And it just felt like drab and, and the same me and not like Alan Wake or control to me. Yeah. Yeah. They did come with a patch last night about making the enemies not full of spongy. It's all interesting. Yeah. I got really good at making sure I was ready for the fights for that too. Like I'm good at combat in this game. It's just like, and it's noticeable too. We're, we're having it. We had to recop parts of a video we're making because like really the way it is those drop the difficulty, which I did not do. Yeah. And I couldn't figure out how I was like, well, I guess I'll pause this and figure it out. Then I just gave up and I just got good basically. So that's that's kind of disappointing to hear because I played this game a lot. And I'm not gonna. Yeah. I like it. I'm still pretty early. There are too many games right now. Yeah. There are just too many games right now because of Grand Theft Auto. There are so many games went to September and October. And I it's crazy because like I said, keep up. Now I'm playing games that aren't even out until next month. But I still want to play Star Zero Company and the blood of Don Walker and yeah, it's so much. Yep. Yeah. What a Don Walker was the only one that I've stuck with where I'm like, this is just gonna be my game. But I'm the same. I tried to play in Zcom. And it's so good. But I'm just like, who's got time? I don't want time for all these games. Zcom. That's zero. Zero. Yeah. That's X-com. I wasn't cool enough to have heard Z-com. Correct. Correct. Yeah. You weren't cool enough. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Stop trying to make it happen. There is another thing I've been playing. There's a long running video game series that I had never played before. But now it's all the rage in my house. So KINGO's Elementary School has an aftercare program because school ends like 2.30 in the afternoon. It's really early. Yep. The other day I picked him up and they were playing Just Dance on the Wii. They have a Wii there and they were playing Just Dance. So he was like interested in Just Dance and asking me about it. And I had never played it before. But my wife, who was not a gamer, had gotten Just Dance 2020, which would have been out in 2019 just because she wanted to dance. So I remember we had that. So I loaded it up and we played it as a family. We had an absolute blast with Just Dance. It's great. It's a motion-based. You kind of just have the wheel of the world. We're playing on Switch. You just hold the Joy-Con and it's just reading your motion that way. And it's pretty good at that or is it just completely just forgiving? I mean, it's very forgiving. Yeah. It's mine. But you see how his hand is green. That's what it's tracking. So it's like, you know, it's a lot of you just got to get into it. But in reality, it's only tracking just what that one hand is doing. You got to kind of buy into the illusion. Otherwise, you're not going to have as much fun. Yep. I love it. We were through a Just Dance phase in my house. Probably about when my kids were about your age, your kids' age name. Because that was five years ago. Like early pandemic, it was like, maybe we better get a Just Dance game. I mean, so Just Dance 2020, the song list includes like stuff from it frozen. But it also includes bangerang by Skrillex. And that's really fun to get my kids dancing to Skrillex. It's great. Yeah. Yeah. What dude? Wait, wait, what do you? I was asking if you've seen what he looks like now. Yeah, I look completely different. He looks completely different. He's a hunk. Check out Jack White sometime. That year, I think it was the frozen year. They would they'd been showing that at 20, in 2019. So that's when E3 had one of the lefties off shows. We're like part of the Ubisoft show was like, you know, someone coming out dressed like that shark. Yeah. And doing dances and like the whole stage is like dancing people and stuff. Yeah. What was that shark? I don't know that shark. But does anyone remember left shark? Yeah. That's from the Katy Perry. What? Half time show. That's what it was. I think that is that what it was that was a reference to that, right? Okay. Well, good time. Left shark. Imagine setting your makeup then forgetting it's even theirs. Meet new grippy setting mist from Mavily New York. Zelda Miss technology locks in your look for up to 24 hours with flexible all-day comfy grip. Try new grippy setting mist from Mavily New York. Maybe it's Mavily. Okay. It's time for a scoop gym. You know the wear fans of Prince of Persia, the lost crown on this show. And right now they have a free trial on Nintendo Switch for Switch Online members. It's free right now until September 30th. You can download the entire game, play the entire game from now until September 30th. So that's not a trial. That's just that's just a video game. I've never seen that because yeah, I've seen people are like, yeah, you can play the demo and I'm like, it's not. It's you could just beat the whole game. Yep. It's crazy. If you are a Switch Online member, just download the full game for free and play it. It's great. Also, it's deeper. It's kind of right. It's too old for this game. Yeah, I'm a little bit too old for this one, but are they testing the waters? Cause didn't they just like lay everybody off? They disbanded the team that made it. So it would be a different team. I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. That's a good deal. Or yeah, or they got a little bit of money from Nintendo. And so yeah, why not? It's also deeply. This game is so good. It's everybody that probably, you know, listen to the show and you heard a discussion about this when it was out. And very few people end up playing it. This is a good platform to play it on. And I really do think like, you know, if you're playing a bunch of, you know, console games this fall, having this on your Switch. Switch too. Switch too. It is both. Yeah. So that's just a great background thing to be working through. And you probably will need game help. And we have an awesome guy and a great man for it. Nice. Yeah. This is great boss fights. And this is probably one of the one of the best, like Metroid, modern Metroid, right? I agree. It's got to be on the short list of the best modern Metroid Vanias. That would be a good top 10 list. Yeah. Okay. Let's do it right now. Okay. Dead cells. How? Hollow Knight. Yeah. Hollow Knight too. Which accent? Metroid. Oh, yeah. Yeah. We'll be talking about Metroid. We'll talk about Metroid in just a little bit. The last thing I want to say is that it's also Prince of Persia last ground is also currently deeply discounted on Switch. It's 70% off. It's only $9. Imagine setting your makeup. Then forgetting. It's even theirs. Gel to mist technology locks in your look for up to 24 hours with flexible all day, comfy grip. No tightness. No stickiness. No residue. Just plump, dewy, hydrated skin. That still feels like your skin. Maybe it's Maybelline.
(upbeat music) - What I've been mostly looking forward to talking about this episode is the Resident Evil movie, and only Mark and I have seen this, so we will keep this spoiler free. Okay, Mark, people will get really mad if I spoil anything. - Well, it's not gonna spoil Resident Evil for anybody because there's nothing about Resident Evil. - Yeah, why? I'm trying to think of what you could spoil. Obviously there's some stuff, but I don't know. - Okay, well, Mark, I really like-- - It's not thinking about that. - Now I'm trying to think, what can I spoil? - I really like this movie. I was, a lot of people have said they were disappointed in the ending, and I would agree with that, but that's because of this, because of this director's previous film, "Weapons," which I also not spoil. All of weapons is good, very good, but it's elevated by like the last few minutes. The last few minutes of weapons go completely bonkers, and it's hilarious and surprising, and satisfying, and gory, it's just great. The whole thing is elevated by the final few minutes, and Resident Evil just kind of lacks that. It's very just straight forward, it's like, what's happening just happens, and then ends without any big surprise. Would you agree with that, Mark? - I would. - You two on such dangerous territory right now. - What, that's the way? - I didn't say anything. - Oh, you're just like, I know, but then you're tossing the ending. - Yeah, then you're exactly, and then you're tossing the mark, and it's just like, I don't give a shit to be clear about this. - I think it's like the edge of my seat to see if something is about to happen. - Isn't this the one where they're going to add like three minutes of Robert Downey Jr. in the end of it though, and then that they were releasing? - Yeah, they're going to recruit him to the Avengers. I agree with what you're saying about the ending, but I disagree that it's bad, and here's why. And I'm not going to talk about the ending. This character, the character that you're seeing in the thing, so okay, when I think about-- - It's Chris Redfield, right? - When I think about video game adaptations that I love, right? You have Last of Us, which is like a one-to-one remake with a few things sprinkled in. Then you have Fallout where it's like, it takes place in the Fallout world, but all the characters are original, but the main characters themselves are key players in everything that happened in the Fallout world, Lucy's dad, the goal and all that stuff. This game, or this movie, it is not that at all. That guy, the main actor, he is nobody. He is absolutely nobody, and they kind of like explain that early on, and that's why I think that the ending not being that consequential doesn't matter. It was never supposed to be. This guy is nobody. He's not that you shouldn't care about him, but the events of Resident Evil are happening around him. He is not a key player in them. - This movie, at all. It's a small, simple story that just happens alongside the first two games. That's what it is. - Yes. - Very, very loose connection. And even the connection to the games, it's a re-imagining of the games, 'cause it's in a completely different setting and time of year. - Yeah, the one, and I consider this a spoiler, this is just the one thing I'll say. At one point, he leaves an audio. - Oh god, he got Justin. - He leaves an audio log. - Yeah, he's not like, yes. - Did he leave him leaving that audio log? Was them telling the audience that this guy is just straight up nobody? Somebody, more important, will find and listen to that audio log and just move, you know, that's, to me, that that's what that was signaling. That is one of the guys that you find audio logs and notes of just like, this crazy thing is happening. I don't know what to do. This person turned into a zombie. That's 100% who this guy is. - He's, it's, he's environmental storytelling. He's an NPC. - Yep, he is better. - That's 100% an NPC. And it's like, and I, and by the way, I haven't seen the movie. This is not a spoiler, but it's like, how did, you know, how did this guy die? Oh, we'll find his audio log. - They barely even mentioned his name. I don't even remember it. - I, I think it's hurt. And then it turns out that he's a young Albert Wester. - Oh, no, this is not true. Anyway, but the movie's really good, really fun, really gory and really funny. I think everyone, if you haven't seen it, you're gonna be surprised at how funny the movie is. - Is there a green herb in it? I think it, but that was in the trailer. That was in the trailer. - Yeah, yeah, but I remember people when he died on it. It's like, oh, I can't really tell though. So I just wanted to say that. - Well, so I read the trivia and Zach Kringer's wrote this movie as a non-resonable movie, pitched it to Capcom who then said yes. And he, he said he was not nervous in that meeting because he didn't care. Like he wanted him to say yes, but he was just gonna make the movie anyways. And to be honest, I think he still just did that. I think he just still made a zombie movie. And then it was like cool, we get to throw some resonable stuff in there now 'cause there's like a first aid spray and there's other nods. There's like, I don't know if you caught it Damon, but there's a part where he opens a door and the camera pushes in past his shoulder and you just see the door opening and then he moves through it, which is a nod to how the doors used to open. Like there's a lot of that stuff, but for the most part, you do not have to be a resonable fan to enjoy. - Oh no, not at all. - That's why I think it's existence as a resonable movie is still kind of confusing. 'Cause like Zack Craig has made two original horror movies and then he wants to follow that up with a video game movie. That's only just kindly slight slightly a video game movie. I just think that's a weird choice. - I don't know. Like movies are a commercial art form. Like he's, you know, he made two small movies and now he wanted to make a bigger one. - But Capcom's not even mentioned. - This is my other point. This is the craziest thing. - But did you look in the credits to see if it was scrolled fast? - It's not in the open credits. In fact, it might be somewhere buried. - The opening credits say it's a PlayStation production. - Yeah, I thought that was weird. - But here's the difference. Resonable. - Sony. - Capcom's flagship franchise. The crown and stool. There have been resonable movies in the past. They're all terrible. Now, not only do they have a great resonable movie, they have the highest rated video game movie of all time. And Capcom acts like it doesn't exist. Capcom has done nothing to promote it. Their, their logo isn't on it. Compare this to Nintendo. For the Mario movies, they bring Miyamoto out to do a whole Nintendo direct on the movies. When you sit down and watch them, you get a big opening splash animation of Nintendo. It's very clear of this is a Nintendo production. They're involved. Capcom is not involved in this at all. I think it's really weird. - Yeah, I mean, they may just not care. They're just like, you know, we're a video game company. And yeah, we'll license out the thing. But like, this is, we're not, you know, they probably didn't fund it at all. They just are giving their blessing to them to use the name, I guess. I don't know. It's very strange. But ultimately, it's irrelevant. The movie is awesome. I remember reading that they talked about how many jokes they cut. And he said it's because they did a screen error. And everybody loved it. And they thought it was super funny. And then a few people were like, it was probably too funny. So he went through and removed a bunch of jokes. I still think the movie is. - It is still totally hilarious. - Even the music is funny. They do funny stuff where it's like, because this dude is just always just like, encountering things that just leave him worse than he was before. And then he'll start to trudge on. And it kind of plays this like, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Like this kind of like, trudging kind of silly, comedic kind of music. Because this dude just, he doesn't know what he's doing. He doesn't know what's happening. He's just reacting to the things that are happening around him. And he has no skills. He talks about the whole time how he's terrible with guns. Man, it's good. Probably the best movie I watched all year. It was fantastic. And that's above all to see and everything. Like I have not stopped thinking about this movie ever since I watched it. I've been telling everybody, go watch it. - That's all we'll say about Resident Evil. It's very good. I totally recommend it. - How was the box office? Did they report it? - Yeah. - It's a bunch of money. - Yeah, 100 million surpassed expectations. - There's your answer to why isn't it weapons too. - Yep. - I don't think weapons needed to sequel it. - Imagine setting your makeup. Then forgetting it's even theirs. Meet new groupie setting mist from Maybelline, New York. Gel to mist technology locks in your look for up to 24 hours with flexible all day comfy grip. Try new groupie setting mist from Maybelline, New York. - Maybe it's Maybelline. (soft music) - Okay, let's check in with the listeners. - Hey, listeners. - Listeners, we can always reach us at the email address,
[email protected] just like Eric from Orlando did, who says with Metroid ravenous, less than half a year away and knowing the Metroid lovers amongst you. Add two questions as someone who's barely experienced Metroid one. What order do you suggest playing the games for a newbie and two besides Metroid Dread, which games you think are pivotal to play before ravenous? Thanks for all the scoops each week. As an 80s kid, you've become my Saturday morning cartoon replacement zone. - We've answered the order question before. Just and I have very different answers for this. - I have no memory of that. I mean, I think Super Metroid is one of the greatest video games of all time. It depends on your age, right? Like I don't wanna, I'm not trying to voice 90s games onto like younger kids and like this feels old and weird, but like Super Metroid's my favorite game.
my favorite game for a reason. It's fantastic. You know, it's, it's an all-time great. Like I don't, you know, I don't know there's nothing new to say about it. From a story and lore perspective, Metroid Zero Mission is a remake of the first one, so that's not a bad place to start. Yeah. I also mean, Super Metroid is an amazing game, especially to like consider the time it was released, you know, on that console, it's just, it's such a cool vibe and mood and it's like dark and mysterious, totally different from what you expect from Nintendo. But I do wonder if Zero Mission made 10 years later if it's just a friendlier game to play, right? It definitely has been mantling up ledges and stuff like that, just a variety of kind of tiny improvements. I would, so what I, you know, was on the spoke in there. It's like, so Super Metroid is the third one. There's Metroid on the NES and then Metroid 2 on the Game Boy. You know, they're both really interesting. It also has the remake. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And so, you know, I don't, I think you're fine to skip them and not play them as my judgment there. I mean, I don't play them if you want. There's more obtooth. Yeah. Yeah. Like they're great games on their platform and for their era, but like they're not all-time race like Super Metroid is. They're, they're really hard to play. I would, yeah, don't don't worry about those. That they have remakes. Zero Mission, I think, is a legit, incredible game. I think it's the best Metroid, only because it improves on a perfect game, which is Metroid, Super Metroid. But that's not my answer. I think that people should start with the remake of Prime. And I think it's a better introduction to Samus, Metroid, and kind of the vibe of Metroid than 2D games are. Even though all these games are like favorite games and I love 2D Metroid, it's my thing. I think for like, it's really fun to enter the series through Prime. And it explains the world. It's really cool, great game, modernized. We gave it a ton. The other half of this question of like what, from like a lower perspective, what do you need to play to get ready for ravenous? Probably just dread. Yeah, that's what you mean. Like, you know, ravenous as a direct sequel. I mean, I guess they're all kind of direct sequels, but like- But the carry-through plot is lame. It's like not fun. Yeah, yeah, so- It's a pretty Metroid and you're getting stuck in it. Played Dread, and it does, I mean, we don't know that much about ravenous yet, but it certainly seems like it's an extremely direct sequel and is going to directly carry over from the way that that can conclude. So, yeah, play Dread. And Prime, to be clear, is a self-contained story, but it's a story about Samus and where she's from and this kind of ancient civilization you discover. In other games, it's not handled as well, but that connects to Zero Mission. So Prime and Zero Mission have a ton of DNA and they're kind of made around the same time. And I really like that as a good starting parent tell you all about Metroid and then you go back to play everything. They came out on the wake. They came out on the same day, if I remember correctly. Oh, I think that's fusion. Oh, you're right. You're right, you're right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, fusion it. Which would have made a lot more sense for Zero Mission, because Zero Mission, what they did was they added in a Chozo element as a storytelling, which is like what's in the original Metroid? It's like they have Chozo statues, but they don't have any storytelling at all. And it tells the story as like a little drawing of Samus as a kid and stuff in it with the Chozo ruins. It's great. It's great stuff. Yeah, I would say the three to prioritize in whichever order you choose, would be a Zero Mission as a sort of apex of the old pixel art style. And then Prime, as to see how just how perfectly they translated the 2D games into 3D. And then Dread, yeah, because that's the precursor to ravenous, which is kind of a two and a half D situation, much more cinematic than the pixel art games. And Mark is too old for this conversation. Yeah, let's move on, but I want to play Belmont's curse, man, I hope the curse is lifted. Hey, you can't. We don't make the rules. I'm not allowed. There'll be an age restriction. You must be this much in younger to play. Okay, this is Clark from Cleveland, Clarkland. Says first, I want to start by saying thank you for all the amazing shows. I look forward to them every week. They're my adult version of Saturday morning cartoons in as much as I watch them every Saturday while I prepare and enjoy a nice breakfast. It's hard for me to believe that I started watching and listening over 10 years ago now. Recently, I completed the Donkey Kong Challenge in time to get the exclusive mine Nintendo cards. This is the challenges for Donkey Kong Benanza. Says I couldn't help, but come to the conclusion that I really am not a big fan of the game. I have a perfectly okay time with the game, but it is, and it is visually stunning with the great art direction, but I just don't enjoy how loose the movement feels. This was made all the more apparent when I worked to complete those extra hard DK challenges. I don't begrudge anyone for loving DK Benanza. In fact, I find myself wishing I liked it more. I'm generally an easily entertained individual. Mario Odyssey remains one of my favorite games of all time. Knowing that the same team made Benanza and others find it so wonderful makes me self-conscious about my own game tastes. My question for the Omega Cops is are there any games that you have played that you didn't enjoy or still enjoyed but genuinely wished you liked it more? Thank you for always being welcome voices and all the infotainment over the years. All of you make my Saturdays better. Wolverine. You wish you liked Wolverine more. Yeah, because I love X-Men and Wolverine and that universe. I love the Spider-Man games. I just wanted to like it more, but that's why I beat it. And I love the idea of doing all the hard stuff, you know, 100% of the game being like, oh, I just, I don't know if I had as much fun doing that as I showed up. That's it. I could relate to that type of game playing. I can also relate to listening to Game Scoop on Saturday morning for breakfast by the way. Having a little Saturday morning tradition like that is awesome and I love playing games on Saturday morning. It feels great. Yep. No, I don't really have a great answer to this question. I don't like, like wishing I liked the game more. It's like, no, I wish the game was better. Like, I don't like, you know, like that attitude is just, I'm trying to think of those games where I was like super high. It's the ones that I look forward to. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Any Zelda that didn't hit the high mark for me without would be Skyward Sword, for example, or Twilight Princess. I was, and I still love those games and I looked forward to him so much that I'm not going to love them. But like, it's, you know, they did not deliver and I was, I wish I liked them more. Yeah, you're definitely right. You're better at this than me because those other games are good answers, too. Yeah. Yeah. But I, a recent one for me would probably be Crimson Desert. I was stoked for that game and I liked it for like 10 hours and then I was like, Tang. This game is not that great. Yeah, but I think, but I think being disappointed in the game is different than wishing you liked it more, or like feeling maybe having FOMO because other people like the game and you're can't really get into it. I can't say I feel that way though. It's like a tan. To be honest, I probably feel that way about Donkey Kong because people loved it and I tried so hard to like it. I would say probably like Witcher 3 as well. People love Witcher 3 and I've never been able to get past the first few hours. Elden rings like that for me. Like, I have FOMO because I just don't like that game and a lot of people it's their favorite game of all time. Yeah. Yeah. I actually, I'm feeling it a bit for Witcher 3 because the remasters coming out and so many people are excited and I'm considering jumping back into it, but I just, I don't know. I don't know if the things about that game are going to change enough. I don't know if like less fog is going to make me that's not my problem with the game. My problem is that the enemies don't react to my sword slashes and so I just slash through them and it doesn't feel good. I think they are revamping the combat a bit. So I was going to say, you might want to want to boot her back up. Boot her back up. Extra curricular activities. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing Weirdo Yankevik. Amazing. Cool. Everything alive. And got a shirt. This is my third time seeing him, but the first time in his like traditional band setup because the first time I saw him was the ill advised tour where he didn't play any parodies only his originals, which is fine for a super fan like me, but my wife was pretty disappointed. The second time was at the Greek in Berkeley and it was the strings attached to when he had a full orchestra. And this is just the first time I've seen him with just his band, which I think is the same band he's been touring with. It is. All these decades. So it was really, really cool. Dude, this guy is a national treasure. I've always loved Weirdo. He played just about everything he'd want to hear. He's 66 years old. Sounds great. Has so much energy and he's constantly doing his costume changes. So he's like, he has his divo like get up for a database stupid. He's got a surgeon outfit for like a surgeon. He comes out on a segue for white nerdy. He's got did almost paradise word crimes did so much. He even did fat in the fat suit, which I think he stopped doing for a while, but maybe now he's 66 and he's like, "Effet, I'm bringing out the fat suit." He did it for you. Yeah. It was great. Amazing. Is this your footage that we're watching here? No, that's not my footage. Okay. And his encore was the saga begins, which is the Phantom in a song and Yoda. I don't really know anything about like I've heard his songs when I was younger, you know, the like parodies. So I'll be honest, I didn't know he even did original songs. What are they like? Are they just funny still? Yeah. There's still funny. And some of them are like sound alike. Like not a parody of a surgery song. He's got a song that like sounds like the police. I forget the name of that song is, but it's stuff like that. Yeah, there's like a there's like a beach boy's parody called Trigger Happy. Yeah. He's got a one song he didn't play that I wish is called The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. It's about a family road trip to see The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. And it just keeps it's a really long song mark that just keeps going on and on and on and on. He didn't play that one though. It was great. Okay. Anyone else have any extracurricular activities to share anything you're watching? Mine's not as cool as that. I was, I mean, if we're doing extracurricular activities like yeah I would share that I think lanterns isn't
incredible. I still only watch the first episode, but I guess it's great. Okay. Good. I need to watch it. Yeah, it's definitely worth a watch. I went in skeptical, not a big fan of DC. Let me rephrase just like it's hit or miss, right? Like, you know, but like, and also I don't care about the Greenland, the lore of the Green Lanterns. And I think it's actually kind of weird and strange. And so it's like, I definitely went in slightly biased to maybe not like it and it just immediately won the over. It's just really, really well done television. And I'm not the first person to make this observation, but the cast couldn't possibly be better cast, just like the way that they play off of each other and just their personalities is just perfect. It's great. It's a really, really fantastic fun and interesting watch every week. - I really only know that guy as the cop from Wolf of Wall Street. Like I don't know what his name is, Kyle Chandler, whatever. - Did you see the only thing I know him from? - Did anybody go watch Supergirl? 'Cause it's streaming also in HBO now. - No, I know. - But I didn't know it was on HBO. - Yeah, so I watched half of it and it starts really strong and then it really goes downhill. We wrote a story today about a DC, I forget like a artist or writer being disappointed in the casting for Lobo and that character is just terrible in it, but it has some quality James Gunn's stuff to begin with, that was cool. Are you guys watching Ted Lasso? - Yeah, so I was about to go, I am back on my Apple TV kick and watching Sugar Season 2, which has been great, so I'm gonna let you see. - I'm gonna show three episodes in. Ted Lasso, Damon, give it a shot. So the first two episodes are rough because they have to make a very thin reason for him to get back to Richmond and it is as thin as could be. So it's kind of just a cameo fest. Let's figure out how to get him back. After that, it's great. It's back full on the best ever, Ted Lasso's ever been. It's fantastic. I think it's great. I think it's really good. I didn't love season three that much. So it feels like we're back to, I hate to say it, but not focusing so much on just his mental health problem. - Yeah, it does a little bit. - It's always such a bummer. - It's like, what? - That's what most of season three was. - It's an easier watch than that. - A lot of better. This one is just more back to, it's just good lighthearted stuff. So if you can get past the first two episodes, I think you'll be back. - Did we talk about the paper season two? - I'm not watching that. - Because I did not like the first season. - It's such an easy watch. I mean, it's only about your exact job, Mark. Come on, man. - It's my job to watch the paper season. - I know that. - It's about an editorial team. It's about working on it, the exact job. - That they all fall in love with each other. - Yeah, so this season, the big thing is like, well, they won't they relationship thing. And it's like a condensed version of five seasons of the office, right? 'Cause that's all it was for the program in the office. But it works. And of course, the Italian actor is just phenomenal. And she was on. - White Lotus season two? - Yeah, yeah. But she was on the talk shows this week. She did like, I feel it's Jimmy Kimmel or Seth Meyers, something. But she's a great interview also. I'm just a huge fan. She's great. And the HR character they introduce is fantastic in this. - Is the paper a comedy? - Yes, it's sequels to the office. It's like set in the same universe. And it's one crossover character. And it's actually multiple crossover characters because the film crew is the same film crew that did the office. So it's in universe office sequel. It's fantastic. - Yeah, they're about how the office was about a dying paper company. This is about a dying print company because Dom Ho Gleason, he's like. - They also make paper, they make toilet paper. - Yeah, they do. - And they do paper products. A newspaper and toilet paper. Toilet paper makes all their money. So they have newspaper kept afloat. - Oh, well, there's Oscar right there. So there you go. That's the one returning main returning character. I like Dom Ho Gleason. I just don't really like any of the other characters. - What I can tell you about this is that it is like Ted Lasso season one where like you start watching it, you can watch it. And you'll just blow right through it and it's super funny and engaging in the characters are lovely. So I think it works. - All right, I'll check that out. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) - Okay, that brings us to video game 20 questions and our suggestion this week comes from Matt who says, "Good day, Damon." And the Omega Cops come into you from Sydney, Australia. I don't miss a second of Game Scoop. Please never stop scooping. So pumped about Ocarina of Time, reborn coming out. The original was one of the first video games I played and finished as a five year old. That's impressive. And it made me a gamer for life. Most importantly, I learned how to read thanks to Ocarina of Time and that you can't trust a room and have several identical paintings. My video game 20 questions suggestion is redacted that also has redacted. - And what was the redacted? What was the redacted? - Uh-uh, uh-uh. - Uh-uh. - Okay, I thought I could get you. - Oh, excuse me. - The new game also has words to read. - Yeah, maybe it also has portraits that come to life that hurt you. - Yeah, that could be it. - Is this Mario 64? Done. See you guys. - Can you jump in this game? - No. - No jump. No jumping. No jumping at all. Not yet. I didn't even ask I meant to ask jump button and I forgot and I messed up my own goof. - You are fused to the ground in this game. - Do you play as a living being in this game? - Yes. - Okay, is this game exclusive to one platform? - No. - Hmm. - Maybe it's gone home. - Yeah. - Yeah, no, you're not jumping in that. (laughing) - You may wanna jump over those X-Files tapes or up the stairs, but you can't do it. - Can you see, can you see your character in this game that you play as? - Yes. - Not gone. - Not walking similar. - Not walking, Sim. Or you can't jump in half-life either, can you? - What about heavy rain? - You jump in half-life, but you don't see your feet. That's maybe that's what I was thinking. (laughing) - Was this a console exclusive? - Uh, I, oh, sorry. - Oh, you know what it is. It's Bionic Commando. - Oh, wait, wait, you said-- - I said it's an exclusive to one platform, and he said no. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. So I'll hold on that one. Let's do, uh, what's this from this century? - Yes. That's five. Okay. - Castle Crashers. - Yeah, it could be a beat 'em up. Or like you said, some sort of story kind of. - You have a not-fraissed person. - Yeah, yeah. Oh, I just mean like Detroit become human, or beyond. - Yeah, would you call this telling a story, the central purpose of this game? - No. That's great. - Hmm. - So we don't need to ask about ludonarrative dissonance as we usually do. - Keep the audience riveted. - Okay, I don't know. - Would you call multiplayer a focus of this game? - No. - Definitely not, you're jumping all around and all those multiplayer lobbies. - Not in Castle Crashers? - Yeah. - Yeah, you're right. - This game is just bumping into each other. - Oh yeah. - Battle Toads. - Yeah. - Yeah, you're jumping in battle Toads. Jump kickin'. - No, I think you used to jump kickin'. - Oh, maybe you can when you hit the both bands. - I don't know, man. - Okay, I feel like I want to stop asking you a few questions now. Did this game come out in the last 10 years? - Yes. - Can you play this game on the Nintendo Switch? - Yes. - But not exclusive to the Switch and no jumping. - Would you call this game an indie game? - Yes, that's 10. - But it's not about telling a story, that's pretty unusual. - Yeah. - Maybe it's a rogue, roger. - Oh, there you go. - Yeah, it could be like a nuclear throne. - Finding a Isaac, okay. - Can you jump in Isaac? - You can jump in Splonky, right? - Yep, 100%. It's all you do. - It's jump simulator. - Jumpin' with. - And die. - Yes, to an indie. Does this game have multiple entries in the series? - No. - Wow. - Do we ask anything about it being 2D? - No. - Is 2D? - Let's not ask that question. (laughing) - We finally got 'em. We won! - I think it's Stardie Valley. - There's two ways to win 20 questions. One is stumped the host, and the other is to guess the game. - Yeah, it could be cozy. - Yeah, is this, would you consider this a cozy game? - No. - Oh, no. - I think the third way to win, which we've never tested, is we all just get up and leave. (laughing) - Or there's another way where you get Damon to say the name of the game. - Yeah, it's very rare. - He would never, he is unflappable. - He can't be flapped. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Okay, not a cozy, yeah, not a cozy game.
So not a star do like or farming, you know, or I don't know my time at Porsche or any of this is it 3d? No fucking idea Yeah Let's revisit that I think it's because I think I think it's because it's like started It's like I cement it's like top that like is Isaac 3d No, well it's top down. Yeah kind of yeah, it's I think it's and it's got that kind of curd It could be yeah, we could ask the roguelike question cuz it could be something like cult of the lamb and is it a roguelike? No shoot Okay, I thought for sure it was Isaac or like into the gungeon, although I guess I got a sequel. Do you play as a human? No And you don't jump you don't play as a human indie game not story-based on the switch relatively recent Multi-class island express dude could be that's not bad Although that would be that would obviously be 2d though Wouldn't be like the background in it, so it's 3d Do you play as an animal in this game? Yes, and that's 15 All right It's not little kitty big city. You jump in that you jump in stray. Yeah Yeah, what animal do you play as oh, untitled goose game? Yeah, I bet it's goose game. I bet it's good game Do you play as a warm blooded creature in this game? That's mammals and birds? Yes, the other Birds are well-blooded. It's probably good Anything that's cold blooded has to lie in the sun to eat a look is the goal of this game to irritate people. No What oh I thought that was like a give me question. I thought we were done. I thought we were wrapping it up The only other thing I could think of is like is it no good mutant? What's that cute? PlayStation game. That's obviously 3d where you play as a little bird long walk We all love big walk Man, I was so sure it was goose game because that's also in big ambiguous whether it's 2d or 3d Yo, I'm at the end of big walk and I don't want it to end. What a great game. I don't have any friends to play it with You only need one don't laugh at that only need one friend. I was talking about the game Long hike or big hike or something like that the one where you're oh, yeah, um sure a short hike a short hike Yeah, that's that's the idea man a short hike rules Should we just narrow it down to bird or mammal? This is helpful little birds. I thought you said birds are mammals. Can you no? No, no, this is the animal. Does the animal you play as lay eggs? I mean Yeah Yes, I made the animal does, but you probably don't in the game. Maybe or maybe you play maybe you play as like a rooster That makes that question hard. Yeah, but that that's probably true, but the That does confirm that well, this is weird because you don't jump right? So if you don't jump you fly you don't fly either Okay, so it's a bird game. It's a bird game It's In case where I played as a bird in the bird game in the last 10 years. Yeah, it's an indie bird game. That's not who's game And you probably don't jump just because you're flying. It's probably a flying game What's that one that was for you be soft for you're just the hawk and You do yeah, yeah, yeah, but that one probably didn't come to switch Oh, I think it was a VR game, but I can't remember. Oh my god. You're down to one question and a guess I mean, it could be a short hike aren't you a penguin in that game? I just think that's clearly 3D is now you fly you You also jump and everybody you spent you well The upgrades are little feathers. Yeah, and then it's like I don't know if that counts as a jump. I think it counts as a jump Are there games where you play as a penguin? Yeah a short hike No, you're just a bird that you glide you glide all over and that you're a penguin in that game aren't you? I don't know. I don't think so. I think you're just a bird Um, I've got to stop looking at people are going to think I'm cheating come on. What about like skateboard Oh Do you jump you do sick jumps in that? Yeah, that's all you do But that's all the eggs. It's not really jumping. Yeah, I was gonna say does all the encounters jumping Skaper and I think it's a valid answer. I just don't know about the 2d 3d obviousness of that I can't think of any other burgeon. Do we have one question and a guess or are you out of questions? Yeah, one question and a guess I mean you can ask if you write a We could do the nuclear one and be like have we mentioned the game? Yeah, if we have it then the answer is no and then we're always sad Well, then we can just know to know if Damon have we mentioned the game. No No, I'm so sad All right, we give up. No, we don't. No, we don't. We got so close. We got to we got to do a guess We know it's a bird don't platypus's lay eggs No, I'm thinking the platypus game. Tell me, you know, the game is a planet. The funny thing is I just played a bird game But I know it's not that I play this game. Maybe it'll trigger our memory It's it's a game where you walk around as a bird and you collect letters and then you solve crossword puzzles with those letters It's called Rita, but I know it like I know is it Rita? No, hold on hold on hold on. Oh, what about a cowboy You jump in that game. It's 2d Albo is a good guest though. I'm trying. Okay, other I'm I've just been thinking about birds But like owls. I don't think about as being birds No, I just don't they're in like a separate category and I what is my palace? Oh, what about death store? Yes, or the crow game. Yes, yeah, it is yeah, but it's top down. It's not a roguelike. I can't believe I was about to give up I think Sam just pulled this out. All right, let's do it I'm too scared to You said it you said it Is it death door? Yes I can't remember this, but that makes sense you roll. Yeah, it's a rolling see he was excited for Ocarina time And this is one of his favorite Zelda likes. Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. It's not a Zelda like as I'd like it to be yeah So let's hear the reduction. You know what? I wish I like just it just said and it looks like, you know It is a 3d game, but I don't know if that would have helped you in this case Yeah, oh, like the world is rendered in 3d, but you're not moving Nice to met you Damon. There's one commenter that's always mad. He always gets mad that we cheated when you give us a hint Yeah, he's he's gonna one guy that takes video game 20 questions very seriously. I would I would suggest. Yeah, it's me Hello Nicolomone just barged in here like he owns What that is going on? Oh, the show's over. Are you just are you just back from China? I just got back from China Hi, everybody. I can't hear you. So I'm just gonna go now, but I am welcome back Nick They just won on 20 questions. It's the commenter It's him Okay, and Sam importantly is there a game where you play as a penguin? Yes, Pango Oh, no, I knew I was thinking of Pango, but I was thinking we had to be a modern game. Oh, okay Said it was out this well. I also there's an argument. I know I'm trying to wrap the show But there's an argument to be made that if you play as an anthropomorphized animal is it like are you a penguin in a short hike? Or are you just it's just you're like a human you're just like a little you're just a little guy. I know that anything I love how the little guy looks around like a bird. Yeah, she had boom this and stuff. It's great Well, if you like this play tunic. It's another good one. Yeah, yeah, I know where you play as an animal not a bird yet But a warm-blooded animal a warm blood nicely job.
