Freedom: The Hour of Deliverance Session 7 - Sue Neil

This teaching from a Freedom series session examines how blessings and curses operate as divine judgments established by God Himself. The speaker emphasizes that God is the supreme authority who first introduced both concepts in Genesis, and that curses cannot be removed through human efforts alone. Blessings follow obedience and extend to a thousand generations, while curses follow disobedience and similarly travel through bloodlines. The session explores inherited curses through two biblical examples. First, Gehazi's story in 2 Kings 5 illustrates how his disobedience to Elisha, greed for unjust gain, and lying gave demons legal right to transfer Naaman's leprosy to him and his descendants forever. Second, King Saul's breaking of Joshua's ancient treaty with the Gibeonites resulted in a three-year famine during David's reign, requiring seven of Saul's descendants to be executed as atonement. The teaching addresses the apparent contradiction between Ezekiel 18, which states each soul dies for its own sin, and examples of generational punishment. The speaker explains that Jeremiah prophesied first about a coming new covenant where individuals would be directly responsible for their own sins. This new covenant of grace through Jesus means people can no longer be held responsible for ancestral sins, but they can still be affected by curses traveling through bloodlines. The session concludes with an extensive list of personal curses resulting from forbidden actions, including idolatry, occult practices, sexual sins, and dishonoring parents. Freedom requires honest self-examination, appropriating Christ's atonement, and casting out demons in Jesus' name.

0:11 Understanding God's Role in Blessings and Curses Well, I want to welcome you all to session seven of our Freedom series. 0:29 I warn you in advance that a we've got some read in to do today and B we have some hard sayings to listen to you today. 0:52 I warn you in advance, be ready for some hard sayings. I need to remind you that if there is anything in the Word of God that you disagree with that happens to have a curse attached to it. 1:20 No amount of worshipping, attending church, praying, or protesting will alleviate it. No matter praising, no matter fasting, no amount of finding conferences to go to, no amount of finding someone online to listen to will alleviate it. 1:51 You know why? Because God himself put the curse in place. Did you hear that God Himself put the blessing in place? 2:09 Did you know that God was the first person to mention the word bless in the book of Genesis? And He was the first person to mention the word curse in Genesis 3, I think verse 14. 2:26 So what are you going to do about it? I'll tell you what we are doing about it in this ministry as we're following the Holy Spirit. We are doing what Jesus said needs to be done in order to be free. 2:51 Nothing else is going to change it. God is the supreme authority, and blessings and curses are divine judgments. 3:27 I want you to soak this up. They are divine judgments. You can't get away from them. You can ask 100 people to pray for you. It won't work if there is a curse, you need Jesus. 3:53 The blessing follows obedience. What kind of obedience? The blessing follows obedience to God's commandments and it is designed. Listen, the blessing is designed to follow you and your grandchildren and your great grandchildren. 4:17 God says His mercy will travel for 1000 generations. It will travel. OK. That's the blessing. And the curse does the exact same thing in the opposite fashion. 4:36 It follows disobedience. And it's designed to travel and to follow your children and your grandchildren perpetually. 4:58 But there is hope, this hope. There is hope for the soul who is in captivity. Jesus was anointed to loose you and to set you free. 5:18 That's if you want to be free. I've been amazed to learn that some don't want to be free. I want to be free. 5:39 The Impact of Ancestral Actions on Future Generations Now. There are other curses that travel the bloodline for other reasons beside idolatry. Do children suffer for the sins of their parents? 6:01 Do children suffer for the sins of their near relatives? And what about their ancestors? Unfortunately, yes. But remember, we are not responsible for them, but we can be affected by them. 6:26 What our forefathers did, what our foremothers did, what our ancestors did, what our near relatives did, what our parents did, what our mother and father did matters. 6:43 Now the majority of us have accepted this. We've accepted it, right? It's not a problem. No one's, no one's trying to have arguments with their parents. We have accepted this. And what the majority of us are doing are breaking curses over our lives and over our children's lives and over all of those grandchildren that we can't see yet. 7:12 OK, some of you have met some of your grandchildren. Some of us haven't. Some of us are handling this like we can see them, OK, because we don't want them to be affected by anything that we have done, all that our relatives or parents or ancestors have done. 7:36 I'm going to show you a scripture, OK? And this is the rule. Deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 3 says He humbled you, this is God the Father, and in your hunger He gave you manner to eat, which neither you nor your Father's had known. 8:07 So that you might understand that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. And if we were to pronounce the Hebrew word behind the letters that are in capitals in the word Lord, you'd see the name of God itself, which is Yahweh. 8:37 So let me read that again. He humbled you, Yahweh humbled you, and in your hunger He gave you manner to eat, which neither you nor your Father said no. So that you might understand that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of Yahweh. 9:01 OK, let me walk you through this verse. Israel is an ongoing prophetic example to the world of how the one true God, Yahweh handles mankind. 9:20 The reason why God allowed Israel to hunger and then feed them with manner, which was we have to agree when we've read it in the Bibles. A strange type of food, right? 9:40 A strange type of food that cannot be replicated by man. It doesn't matter how much you try in your kitchen. It doesn't matter how good a cook you think you are, you can't replicate manner. Agreed. 9:56 Right? The reason why He fed them with manna, this very strange food that cannot be replicated by man, was to help them to understand that no matter which part of their lives and our lives are lacking, whether it be physically or spiritually, it will be fed by what God has said. 10:26 And yes, the Word of God is strange and we can't replicate it. It's our job to eat it. Do you understand? 10:41 That's what this verse is telling you. He allowed them to be humbled with hunger, and then He gave them a strange food to eat, food that their fathers had never seen or eaten before. 10:56 And he did it on purpose to teach them that no matter what kind of hunger you're suffering from, whether it be physically or spiritually, doesn't matter. You will eat every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord, and it is strange food. 11:15 It's so strange that Jesus himself claimed to be the bread of life that came from heaven, and he said unless you eat this bread, which is my flesh, and drink my blood, you won't be saved, you won't have eternal life, you'll have no part of me. 11:38 His disciples, some of them said this is a hard saying. Who can hear this? So what you've just understood from Deuteronomy chapter 8, verse 3 ought to be a hard saying for you as well. 11:55 I guarantee you, no matter what you go through in life, God has a word prepared for your situation. Amen. And it's a word that man can't replicate. It'll be God's word and God's word alone. 12:13 And that's a rule. Now if you accept this as the rule of life, you will understand how life works. Amen. OK, praise God. 12:38 Now last week we looked at witchcraft curses, we have studied the Karem cast, we've touched on a curse things. 12:54 We looked at generational curses in depth. 12:58 Naaman's Healing and Gehazi's Inherited Curse Today we're moving on to inherited curses. Inherited curses. Turn your Bibles please to 2nd Kings Chapter 5. 13:30 Second Kings chapter 5 and we'll be reading from verses 1 all the way down to the end of 27. 13:56 Naman, commander of the army of the King of Syria, was a great man with his master and in high favour, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He was a mighty man of valor, but he was a leper. 14:12 Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman's wife. She said to her mistress, Would that my Lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria, he would cure him of his leprosy. 14:31 So Naaman went in and told his Lord thus, and so spoke the girl from the land of Israel. And the king of Syria said, Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. 14:47 So he went, taking with him 10 talents of silver, 6000 shekels of gold, and 10 changes of clothing. And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which read, When this letter reaches, you know that I have sent to you name in my servant, that you may cure him of his leprosy. 15:08 And when the king of Israel read the letter, sorry, I find this really funny, he tore his clothes and said, Am I God to kill and to make alive that this man sends word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? 15:23 Only consider and see how he is seeking A quarrel with me. But when Elijah, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent to the king, saying, Why have you torn your clothes? 15:38 Let him come now to me, that he may know that there is a prophet in Israel. So Naman came with his horses and Chariots and stood at the door of Elijah's house. And Elijah sent a message to him saying, Go and wash in the Jordan 7 times, and your flesh shall be restored and you shall be clean. 16:00 But Naaman was angry, and went away, saying, Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me, and stand and call upon the name of Yahweh his God, and wave his hand over the place, and cure the leper. 16:18 Are not a banner, and far, far the rivers of Damascus better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. But his servants came near and said to him, My father, it is a great word the prophet has spoken to you. 16:38 Will you not do it? Has he actually said to you, Wash and be clean? So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 17:09 Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, And he came and stood before him, and he said, Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel, so accept now a present from your servant. 17:26 But he said, As the Lord lives before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it, but he refused. Then Naman said, If not, please let there be given to your servant to mule loads of earth, and from now on your servant will not offer burnt offering or sacrifice to any God but Yahweh. 17:54 In this manner may Yahweh pardon your servant. When my master goes into the House of Raymond to worship, they're leaning on my arm, and I bow myself in the House of Raymond. When I bow myself in the House of Raymond Yahweh, pardon your servant in this matter, he said to him, Go in peace. 18:17 But when Naaman had gone from him a short distance, Ghazi, the servant of Elisha, the man of God, said, See, my master has spared this name in the Syrian in not accepting from his hand what he brought. 18:32 As the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him. So Ghazi followed Naaman, and when Naaman saw someone running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him and said it's all well. And he said all is well. My master has sent me to say they have just now come to me from the Hill Country of Ephraim. 18:55 Two young men of the sons of the prophets, please give them a talent of silver and two changes of clothing. And Naaman said, Be pleased to accept 2 talents. And he urged him, and tied up two talents of silver in 2 bags with two changes of clothing, and laid them on the two of his servants. 19:20 And they carried them before Gehazi. And when he came to the hill, he took them from their hand and he put them in the house. And he sent the men away, and they departed. He went in and stood before his master, and Elisha said to him, Where have you been, Ghazi? 19:41 And he said Your servant went nowhere. But he said to him, Did not my heart go when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? 19:56 Was it a time to accept money and garments? Olive orchards and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male servants and female servants. Therefore the leprosy of naman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever. 20:16 So he went out from his presence A leper like snow. Amen to the word of God. Let's go back to the following verses. Let's go back to Second Kings chapter 5 and we'll read verses 25 and 27 again. 20:39 He went in and stood before his master, and Elisha said to him, where have you been Ghazi? And he said, Your servant went nowhere. But he said to him, Did not my heart go when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? 21:01 Was it a time to accept money and garments, olive orchards and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male servants and female servants? Therefore the leprosy of naman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever. 21:21 So he went out from his presence a leper like snow. 21:28 How Disobedience Creates Legal Rights for Curses What do we learn here? We learn the following that the sickness which was demonically charged was attached to everything that Naaman travelled with and everything he owned. 21:54 Elisha didn't curse him. Elisha did not curse Kahazi. They were simply a transfer of the curse, and of course a transfer of the demons that put the curse into legal effect. 22:15 Why? Because it had a legal right. It had a legal right. What legal right did it have to do this to Gehazi? Gehazi was disobedient to authority. 22:35 Elijah was a prophet, a God ordained authority. Gehazi was disobedient to him. Was he? Yes. You read it in verse. 22:52 Is that 16? Yes, but he said as the Lord lives before whom I stand, I will receive none. Naman tried to give him the gifts. Elijah said as the Lord lives, I don't want nothing from you. 23:10 No thank you, no thank you. Gehazi heard that and he thought his master was a little not too well, and he went after Naaman and asked for stuff. 23:25 There you have disobedience, OK, And there's more. He was greedy for unjust gain. How was it unjust? He lied about the reason for it. 23:43 He said a couple of guys, some young prophets, have just come to see Elijah and he hasn't got anything to put before them. Can he have a couple of talents of silver and a couple of changes of clothing, please? Namer says absolutely. 23:59 Of course that was a lie, which meant he obtained what he got by unjust gain. It was unjust, right? And you know what else? He was a liar put all of those things together, disobedient to authority, getting things by unjust gain. 24:23 Being a liar, it gives the curse and the demons that put it to work a legal right to enter your life. Always remember, Elijah did not curse Gehazi. 24:42 All he said was, well, I'm going to add in my own words, you silly man, Didn't you see me refuse that stuff? There's a time to receive from people, and there's a time not to. 24:59 Did you hear that? That is a principle that we must understand as well. It's not everyday. Yes please, yes please, yes please everyday. Can't you do without something for one day, not everyday. 25:15 God bless you, Thank you God bless you. Thank you God bless you, thank you. Sometimes use wisdom, sometimes the Holy Spirit can lead you as to whether or not you receive something or not. Look at this lesson that people are afraid to discuss. 25:35 The man was sick. The Bible is teaching us, and this is a biblical fact that you'll find in the law as well. With lepers, everything they own is defiled, is contaminated. 25:54 So if Ghazi just put his greedy self away and thought about what it says in the law, he'd have remembered. Oh yes, even a lepers house is condemned. 26:16 So look at the bigger picture. There are some illnesses that are attached to certain things that we may possess. It's spiritual. I'm not saying not to not to receive any gifts from someone who's got a cold. 26:36 We're funny about giving them a hug anyway because we don't want anything. We don't want to catch it, but this is a very serious lesson learned today that Elisha did not. He didn't do anything to Ghazi. 26:53 He simply told him a biological fact. Now you're going to get leprosy, and the leprosy is going to travel through your bloodline. 27:08 What did Elisha do? He just simply told him what was going to happen to him spiritually because he opened the door to the curse of the illness. Do we understand? 27:25 Look at what Proverbs 119 says. Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust gain. It takes away the life of its possessors. 27:43 Get your money honestly, don't cheat nobody. Be truthful. Look at what the word of God says. So if Gahazi's descendants are still living today, one of them at least is still experiencing leprosy. 28:08 That today is called Hanson's disease. And if oral history was preserved, they could say, you know why you've got Hanson's disease. We had an ancestor called Gehazi who lived around 3000 years ago. 28:26 He was greedy for unjust gain. He despised God's ordained authority and he was a liar, and as a result the curse of leprosy came on him. 28:42 There you have an example of an inherited curse. God allows curses to live and travel unless they're broken by the only means that He has provided, and that's Jesus Christ. 29:07 The Consequences of King Saul's Broken Covenant I want to give you another example, OK, And this is Saul and the Gibeonites. King Saul and the Gibeonites, what happened there? 29:24 We don't have time to read too much. We will read, but I just want to give you an overview. First of all, what happened with King Saul and the Gibeonites? King Saul broke an agreement that Joshua, who was Moses successor, put in place with the Gibeonites around 350 years earlier. 29:52 Did you get that? King Saul broke an agreement that Joshua had put in place with the Gibeonites 350 years earlier. 30:11 What was this ancient agreement? During Israel's conquest of Canaan under Joshua's leadership, the Gibeonites, who were a remnant of the Amorites, tricked Joshua into signing a peace treaty with them. 30:27 Despite the deception, Israel swore an oath in God's name to protect them. To be honest with you, they swore the oath in God's name to protect them before they realized they were deceived. I just want to correct that. 30:43 God honoured it. You can read all about it in Joshua Chapter 9. God honoured it. Now we're going to carry on reading after I tell you no, no, we're going to read. 31:05 Let's read, because you've got to find out what happened. Go with me to Second Samuel. I need to make clear that the Bible doesn't actually record King Saul doing what he did. 31:31 What did King Saul actually do? I'm going to have to tell you before we read. Sorry, 350 years later, King Saul broke the treaty that Joshua put in place. He violated the sacred agreement by killing many Gibeonites, attempting to completely annihilate them from Israel's territory. 31:52 I already said this. I'll say it again. The Bible doesn't record this event, but records the repercussions in Second Samuel chapter 21 verses 1 to 14, and we're going to read that Second Samuel chapter 21 verses 1 to 14. 32:11 So whereas you can't find the actual event of Saul trying to annihilate the Gibeonites because it's not recorded in the Bible, this is recorded Second Samuel chapter 21, reading from 1 to 14. 32:34 Are you all with me so far? Thank you. Are we ready? OK, Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. 32:49 And David sought the face of Yahweh, and Yahweh said there is blood guilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death. So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not of the people of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites. 33:08 Although the people of Israel had sworn to spear them, Saul had sought to strike them down in his zeal for the people of Israel and Judah. And David said to the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you, and how shall I make atonement, that you may bless the heritage of Yahweh? 33:32 The Gibeonites said to him, It is not a matter of silver or gold between US and soul or his house, neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel. And he said, What do you say that I shall do for you? 33:48 They said to the king, the man who consumed us and planned to destroy us, so that we should have no place in all the territory of Israel, let seven of his sons be given to us, so that we may hang them before Yahweh at Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Yahweh. 34:09 And the king said, I will give them. But the king spared Mephibosheth the son of Saul's son Jonathan, because of the oath of Yahweh that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. The king took the two sons of Rispa, the daughter of Aya, who she bore to Saul, Armoni, and Mephibosheth. 34:31 That's another Mephibosheth and the five sons of Merab the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adria the son of Barzillai the Meholothite. And he gave them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before Yahweh. 34:50 And the seven of them perished together. They were put to death in the first days of the harvest, at the beginning of barley harvest. Then Risper the daughter of Ayah, took sackcloth and spread it for herself on the rock from the beginning of harvest until rain fell upon them from the heavens, and she did not allow the birds of the air to come upon them by day, all the beasts of the field by night. 35:15 When David was told at Risper, the daughter of I the concubine of Saul had done, David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan from the men of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the public square of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hanged them on the day the Philistines killed Saul on Gilboa. 35:37 And he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of his son Jonathan. And they gathered the bones of those who were hanged, and they buried the bones of Saul and his son Jonathan in the land of Benjamin in Sidela, in the tomb of Kish his father. 35:56 And they did all that the king commanded. And after that, God responded to the plea for the land. So the consequence of King Saul breaking an ancient treaty that God himself upheld was a severe three-year famine that struck Israel during King David's reign. 36:29 When David prayed and asked God the 'cause God said that it was due to Saul's blood guilt against the Gibeonites and what was the solution, David asked the remaining Gibeonites how to make amends. 36:51 Refusing monetary compensation, they demanded 7 male descendants of Saul to be handed over to be executed. 37:06 And what was David's decision? King David surrendered 2 of Saul's sons and five of his grandsons, but he spared Jonathan's son Mephibosheth due to a personal oath. 37:23 You know, King David and Jonathan, they were twin souls, weren't they? The Gibeonites killed Saul's two sons and five grandsons and exposed their bodies on the hill. Once the bodies were properly buried alongside Saul's bones, God ended the famine. 37:46 But that isn't fair. That's not fair. You say It's not fair. It's not fair. Anyone want to say it's not fair? Come on. It's all right to say it's not fair. It's all right to say it. Don't act like you know, don't act like you were praying all night. 38:04 It's, it's don't act like that. No, no, don't do that. It's all right to have an opinion. What is your opinion on the matter? Not fair, all right. 38:22 The sons may have been old enough to have taken part in a massacre, but the grandsons, Yo. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. 38:38 We need to understand this business in here today. If you don't care about your grandchildren, start now. Grandsons. Five of them. How old even were they? 38:57 They may not have even been born when King Saul went and did that in his zeal for Israel. But they didn't do it. You protest. The Bible is silent on the timings. 39:14 OK, We don't know how old any of these children were, whether or not they were born. I'm talking about the grandchildren here. It's obvious the sons were born. We're not sure about the grandchildren. They may not have been born, but we can learn this. 39:29 God honours agreements. Hello everyone. You know the story about the Gibeonites. The Gibeonites heard that Israel was smashing up Canaan and mashing up all the giants and all the people in the land so that they could claim what God said was their inheritance. 39:55 OK, The Gibeonites heard about it and thought, Oh my days, they they're going to kill us. Oh my days, I tell you what, let's go and see them and let's pretend that we've come from a very far away land. OK? Let's pretend so that they they have mercy on us. 40:14 So they go to see Israel and they pretend that they had fresh bread, but they actually took with them stale bread and said look how long we've been travelling. This is how far away we live from you guys. Our bread was fresh when we started travelling and now it's all mouldy. 40:31 To show you how far away we live, we just ask can you make a treaty with us please? We don't actually live round here. This isn't really our manner. Can you please? 40:48 Joshua was a little suspicious if you read about it. Joshua was a little suspicious, but the elders of the land agreed and said, yes, why not? Why not? OK, we'll we'll make a treaty with you that we will not kill you. We will not kill you. And then they found out that they were locals and Joshua said, Oh, my days, you literally deceived us. 41:11 But they'd already made the treaty and God honoured it. 350 years later, King Saul feels like a bad man and wants to be presumptuous in doing things for Israel that God said. Notice, Saul loved to do things God told him not to do and wouldn't do the things that God told him to do. 41:33 He had that flesh problem. You now it goes right, OK. He breaks a treaty that was 350 years old. Israel suffered a three-year famine because of it. 41:52 Do you know how many countries have suffered famines and no one has thought is there an ancient treaty that might have been in place that somebody broke here that that God wasn't pleased with? We live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. 42:11 So does this country, so does Europe, so does the world. Isn't that something? 42:26 I think it's something. We don't know what agreements were broken in our bloodline or what agreements we broke ourselves. We don't know. That's just an example. 42:43 But what else is this teaching us? What else is it teaching us? Did you not see verse 3? Go back to it. And David said to the Gibeonites, what shall I do for you, and how shall I make atonement? 43:06 See that word? What is Jesus Christ for us? The atoning sacrifice for us sins? How do I make atonement for this wrong? 43:21 God is teaching us. He's making it very clear. What a wonderful lesson that's hidden in this passage. Every curse will need a solution, and even though we don't know the specifics of why certain things have happened in our bloodline, or why certain things are going on in our body, or why we're dealing with certain things, even if we don't know, at least we know the remedy. 43:53 Amen. We know that the remedy is the shed blood of Jesus Christ that He shed for the forgiveness of sins, all under the agreement of the new covenant. Look at this promise, Galatians 313. 44:09 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written, cursed is everyone who hanged on a tree. So it's down to us now to appropriate this valuable verse. 44:27 And glory be to God, this is what this season here in college is about. We're literally coming here with curses and leaving without them. Huh. 44:49 Jesus is setting us free. Hallelujah. 44:54 Understanding Generational Curses in the New Covenant I suppose you want to cite the following passage of Scripture from Ezekiel chapter 18 verses 1 to 4. Then the word of the Lord came to me saying what do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying the fathers eat the sour grapes, but the children's teeth are set on edge as I live, declares the Lord God. 45:24 You are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore. Behold, all the souls of mine, the soul of the Father as well as the soul of the Son is mine. The soul who sins will die. 45:46 Now I was teaching on the curse of illegitimacy according to the Old Testament around 5 years ago. Some of you remember maybe. And there was this man who's who was quite new to our church at the time. 46:08 His name was Laddie. And he asked a question. He stood up and he'd just come from work and he was wearing a suit. And he said, how can the curse rest upon the children who are not responsible for their conception? 46:27 If Ezekiel chapter 18, verses 1 to 4 says what it says, I'm just going to leave that there for a minute. 46:43 Two things ran through my mind #1 apprehension, uh oh, a real theological question. How am I going to answer this? I did my best. And #2 the second thing that ran through my mind was I'm going to have to watch out for this guy and his questions. 47:07 And I was right about him, wasn't I? He's still asking questions, keeping me on my toes. But he was right to ask that question because it's something that Christians don't understand. 47:26 Don't act like you prayed all night last night. You can admit though, you don't understand why God said that the soul whose sins will die. And then I just showed you an example of King Saul's sons and grandsons dying for his sin. 47:49 So he was right to ask the question. But understand this, we're going to learn the answer. Now. We can see throughout Bible history that the Jews did witness the operation of generational curses and inherited curses. 48:11 You will read your Bible, right? You know, I gave you an example of sons and grandsons being put to death for the sins of their father. As a result, they came up with a proverb in order to describe the effects of a father's sin being passed down. 48:31 And that is the proverb they came up with, Ezekiel chapter 18, verse 2. It's a proverb. The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge. It's a proverb saying that children were responsible for their father's sin, which would to them certainly explain King Saul and the Gibeonites. 49:00 God allowed it. God didn't tell David. What do you think you're doing? They shall not be put to death for the sin of their father, for the sin of their grandfather. God was OK with it. And in fact, once they were dead and buried, the famine ended. 49:20 OK, That would indicate that God received it as atonement. God appears to disagree with what they were saying. 49:36 He appears to disagree with what they're saying. He said what? What? What do you mean by saying this proverb? Let's go back and look at it, shall we? What do you mean by saying this proverb? As I live, declares the Lord God, you are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore. 49:54 Behold, all the souls are mine. The soul of the Father as well as the soul of the Son is mine. The soul who sins will die. He appears to disagree with what they're saying, even though I just read you an example of sons and grandsons suffering for their father's sin, right? 50:12 Are you with me so far? But God appears to disagree. He says, what do you mean you're not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore? What is God's saying? This is what we've got to dare to ask. What are you saying, God? 50:29 You are not making sense. God is declaring that the time would come when this proverb would no longer be appropriate. His true children. 50:45 That's right. It's all about Jesus. His true children would come under a new covenant, He would write his law on their hearts, and every man would become directly responsible for his own sin. 51:07 And we know that. How do we know that? We know that because of the prophet Jeremiah. I'm sorry if we're going a little deep into the Bible here, but you need to learn once and for all what Ezekiel was talking about. OK, Is that all right? Because I'm here preaching about curses, travelling the bloodline, so you can't have Ezekiel in the back of your mind. 51:28 But God said it's the soul who sins that will die. You need to understand why that's there. To understand it, we need to look at the prophet Jeremiah and what he said. 51:45 Jeremiah says in chapter 31 verses 29 to 34. In those days they will not say again. The fathers have eaten sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge. But everyone will die for his own iniquity. 52:03 Each man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge. Go back to the first 3 words in those days. So not the days that they were in the days that were to come. 52:21 And it goes on to say, but everyone will die for his own iniquity. Each man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge. Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and with the House of Judah. 52:42 Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. My covenant which they broke, even though I was a husband to them, declares the Lord. But this is the covenant which I will make with the House of Israel after those days, declares the Lord. 52:58 After those days, declares the Lord read with me, I will put my law within them, and on their heart I will write it, and I will be their God, and they shall be my pupil. 53:19 Oh, but we need to understand how this is marrying up. OK, this is how you understand it. Jeremiah and Ezekiel were contemporaries. They were both prophesying to Judah at the same time. 53:34 But Jeremiah started prophesying to to Judah 20 years before Ezekiel started prophesying. This is why when you get to Ezekiel, God can say what do you mean repeating that proverb? 53:52 Haven't I done told you through Jeremiah that the days are coming when you will not say this proverb? Do you understand? Yeah. So what it was what they were saying was that they ignored what Jeremiah said. 54:10 And you know how much it hurts me. Jeremiah's life hurts me. Do you know no one listened to Jeremiah? He only had two converts. Baruch and the other man's name I can't pronounce, but he was a eunuch. No one listened to Jeremiah. 54:26 Ezekiel had a better run. Can you imagine preaching and preaching and preaching and preaching and preaching, and no one listening to you? I hurts. 54:44 And God continued in Jeremiah's word that he gave to him. They will not teach again each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for they all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, declares the Lord. 55:02 For I will forgive their iniquity and their sin. I will remember no more. If they'd listened to Jeremiah, they wouldn't have still been quoting that proverb because God had already told them, look, a time is coming when this proverb is going to be obsolete, so don't stand on it now. 55:31 It's going to fade because I'm bringing in a new covenant. Do we understand? OK, so then the order is this just in case you've read Ezekiel and you know, you thought, no, this is it the soul that sins, it's the soul that would diode. 55:52 This is it, this is it. I don't know why God actually said, why do you say that? It doesn't make sense. The order is this Jeremiah first. 56:08 You read Jeremiah 1st and guess what? He is before Ezekiel. Anyway, in the Bible, Jeremiah first, specifically chapter 3129 to 20 to 33. He preached and he told them the time was coming when you will no longer use this proverb. 56:29 But they didn't listen to him. And then comes Ezekiel, still preaching to Judah, but this time some of them have been exiled to Babylon already. Then comes Ezekiel chapter 18, one to four. 56:44 Put them both together and you understand what God was talking about. Amen. 57:02 Little bit of Bible study there, right? But it will help anyone that was confused by how curses travel and so forth. Because it's got nothing to do with the fact that curses travel. 57:22 The new covenant is the new covenant of grace that Jesus provided through shedding his own precious blood. Grace does not mean that a curse can no longer be passed down through the generations. 57:38 It means that we can no longer be held responsible, but we can still be affected by them. That's why God said a time was going to come when you ain't going to say this proverb no more. God said you're never going to say that again. 57:53 A time was coming, I'm going to fix that. And that time is here. But grace doesn't stop the fact that the curse travels. 58:09 Do we understand that? 58:11 Identifying Personal Curses from Forbidden Actions Moving on from there, please understand that the curse remains unless something is done about them, King David said. What can I do to make atonement? 58:28 Why don't you ask, when you think about what's going on in your family or in your bloodline, why don't you say, what can I do to make atonement? There's nothing you can do. It's everything that Jesus has done. 58:46 Why don't you ask that question? Surely you want to fix the stuff going on in your life. Surely you want to fix problems that you see here and everywhere. Surely you want to fix something that isn't quite fitting, right? There is nothing you can do, but it's everything that Jesus has done. 59:03 Hallelujah, He has provided atonement. The scriptures make it clear something must be done and in this case, blood had to be shed. 59:22 If we do certain things that God forbids according to His law, then we can expect curse activity. We can expect it to legally abide in our lives. It's not just about looking into our ancestry. We have to examine our lives as well to see whether or not we have brought curses on ourselves. 59:44 Never mind the fact that Great Granddads is travelling, what about new ones that you're bringing in? So with that being said, let's move on to some more hard sayings. 1:00:01 Let's move on to personal curses that need no explanation. What so? Ever. I am just going to reel off a list of them and end there. 1:00:17 Get ready for some hard sayings. I'm not going to give you time to write anything down because these are things that you can find yourself. 1:00:34 It's all listed in the Bible. The following things I'm going to read to you. Invoke a curse immediately after neglecting the work of the Lord. 1:00:56 The scriptures are beside everyone. If you want to jot something down that resonates with you, that you can see, take the Scripture down. But we're not going to look at the Scriptures today. Enticing others away from the Lord into a false religion. 1:01:12 Taking away or adding to the Word of God. Teaching rebellion against the Lord. Refusing to warn those who sin. Defiling the Sabbath. 1:01:33 Perversion of the Gospel of Christ. Cursing one's rulers. Refusal to forgive others after asking God to forgive you. 1:01:50 Child sacrifice, for example. Abortion. Disobedience against any of the Lord's commandments. Amen. Forgive us, Lord. Oppressing the defenceless and there's more. 1:02:10 Forsaking the Lord. Not serving the Lord joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity. Not reverence in the name of the Lord God. Yahweh. 1:02:26 Presumption in thinking that one can disregard God's word and devise his own way. Cursing or mistreating the Jews. Refusing to help in the Lord's work and warfare. 1:02:45 Really, there's a curse for that? Why don't I just show you what the scripture looks like on that one? Just in case you're thinking, Does it really say that I'm cursed if I refuse to help in the Lord's work? And does that apply to me? Warfare, You know, Israel isn't here anymore. 1:03:01 No one's going to war. We go to war every Thursday in prayer meeting when we have it. Did you hear what I said? I said we go to war when we pray and we fast. We go to war when we all agree to fast from 6:00 in the morning till 6:00 in the evening. 1:03:18 We go to war when we go to prayer meeting. We're not going to get away from the Word of God. Obviously we're under the new covenant and it's interpreted through Jesus Christ. And he said men ought always to pray and not to faint. 1:03:40 Well, who'd ever think that there is something behind it like this? 48 Sorry, Jeremiah chapter 48, verse 10. Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord of slackness. 1:03:55 I and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from bloodshed. Obviously we're not going to literal war anymore, but I tell you we're going to spiritual warfare when we're praying on a Thursday when we gather and when we're praying upstairs at 10:05. 1:04:13 Is that right? Look at that. Understand the rule that I showed you in the beginning. Man lives by every word that comes out of the map of God. Understand that rule and you'll know how life works. 1:04:32 It's as simple as that. We continue because we're just loving what we're hearing right now. Failure to give God the glory. Robbing God of tithes and offerings. Idolatry. 1:04:48 Either making or worshipping an idol or a celebrity or something in your possession. Dishonouring one's parents. Defrauding one's neighbor. Cruelty to a disabled person. 1:05:07 More now hold on here. Sexual intercourse during menstruation. If you thought that was OK, it's not marrying a woman and her mother who even does that, but OK, marrying a woman and her mother. 1:05:27 Children conceived out of wedlock. Hold tight, attest objects in one's possession. Occult practices including divination, sorcery, omens, witchcraft, consult in a medium, consulting the dead, etcetera. 1:05:44 Glory be to God. We dealt with that last. We dealt with that last week. We'll continue on things as the Lord leads us. 1:06:01 Murder for hire, you know, if you want to be a hit man, including those who are paid to perform abortions. And there's more fornication. 1:06:19 Incest with one sister, Eel. mother-in-law. Oh, or father's wife. Bestiality. Adultery. 1:06:35 Homosexual relationships, including lesbianism. Rape. Not the one that was raped. The rapist, murder. Do you know there's more. 1:06:55 There's all the curses listed in Deuteronomy 28, and then there are the curses listed in Deuteronomy 12, and then there's the curse of the thief. The Bible says the curse of the thief is this. It will enter your house and it will devour it until there's nothing left of it. 1:07:14 And that's all kinds of theft. There's more. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. 1:07:27 Appropriating Freedom from Curses Through Jesus Now, if you can see that curse activity or that a generational curse, or perhaps you've got knowledge of an inherited curse, if you can see anything operating in your life, it doesn't matter how small it is. 1:07:45 Pay attention to it like you pay attention to a small spider in your room who acts like there's no spider on the wall. No, no, they're relatively small apart from the big garden ones that look like they've got muscles in their legs. 1:08:06 They're still smaller than us, right? But you try and read with one of them on the wall, even though it's it's, it's small, right? But you can't do anything until you deal with it, unless you're like my brother, Deacon James, who like to play with those weird things. 1:08:35 But most of us who are of a normal disposition, we can't do anything. Life stops, that's the end until that's dealt with. 1:08:52 And once it's dealt with, we exhale. That's how we've got to treat things that we can see going on in our lives or in our families lives. If your children don't get on, how can you call that normal when Deuteronomy 28 talks about that being part of curse activity? 1:09:17 If your children no longer want to serve the Lord, how can you accept that as normal? It's not. Deuteronomy 28 talks about it that our children would go into captivity. It's not normal. 1:09:32 This world loves to help people to cope with curses. They'll tell you it's normal. Oh, my son's like that. Oh, once he reached a certain age, you couldn't tell him anything. 1:09:47 And you're looking at her and you're like, that's not how it goes in my house. Oh, yeah. You know, he tells me to shut up and everything. And I just, I just if you took their teaching, you treat it as normal. 1:10:05 But according to the word of God, it's not. Children who spoke to their parents like that were dragged outside to the gate and stoned. That's God saying that's not Guanin, that's not happening here. 1:10:25 If you can see anything what God has done for us. Is this we can appropriate the blessings of the cross Amen. 1:10:48 We have the advantage. Satan knows that. Oh my days, He knows we have the advantage, but he doesn't want you to know. Christians don't know much about this topic because it's not taught much in church. 1:11:10 I have a theory about that personally. What have I been preaching for the last few weeks? I've been preaching about the fact that Jesus came to set us free from the curse. Jesus was anointed to set the captives free and to release the prisoners, right? 1:11:29 I've been preaching about this because it's the word of God, but it's not preached about a lot in churches because there's no money I can take for this. I can't tell you sow a seed for your freedom. 1:11:45 I can't tell you if you give £150 right now. Your life will change. If you preach God's word. It's all about Him and not about you. 1:12:00 I gain nothing but seeing the blessing of the children of God on their lives. What do I gain? Nothing but a quiet entree less to deal with. 1:12:19 Yeah, call me lazy. God can take care of the problems that are happening in your life that stem from curse activity. You don't need to sow no seed to get that sorted out. 1:12:34 You just have to appropriate the word of God. Jesus Christ appeared to destroy the works of the devil. Where does it say that £300 should appear to destroy the works of the devil? 1:13:02 I don't need your money. My husband looks after me. I don't need your money. You need your money. No. 1:13:17 Let's keep it real. You don't want to tithe because. Because I don't know. I don't know what it is or where you think tithes go or what have you. You don't want to tithe because of this. Because of that. So you're happy to allow a curse to just follow you home? Like. Yeah, man. Good day today, isn't it? Yeah, man. 1:13:33 Curse allowed to chill with you on the sofa. Curse allowed to go to bed with you and your husband. Curse. Allowed to go gym with you. Curse allowed to go everywhere with you. Don't worry about there'll be no passenger in your front seat. The curse is there. 1:13:50 Nothing you will do if you want to hide from the fact that we got to type because there's a curse. You can hide, but it's still going to be there. Amen. Preach. The word you know says man shall live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. 1:14:11 Why don't you do it for you, Do it for your children, Break the curses over your life. Do it for your children, do it for your grandchildren who may inherit it. So what now? 1:14:27 If you see anything, be honest. Don't compare yourself with anybody. Deal with what you know is real in your life. 1:14:45 Be honest now. This will take some humility and then make sure you're in a position to qualify for freedom. I've given you the five points. I'm not going to go over them again. Then #3 the demons that cause the curses to continue must be driven out in the name of Jesus. 1:15:10 You can break curses all you like, but if you don't kick them demons out, they have a legal right to continue. What's the legal right? They didn't, they didn't tell me how to go. They didn't go and see no deliverance minister. So I I can stay, but they broke the curse and they renounced and they but they didn't kick me out. 1:15:34 They didn't go and see a deliverance minister. So why? It's as real as that? Can you imagine?

Podcast Summary

Key Points:

  1. God is the supreme authority who established both blessings and curses, and these divine judgments cannot be removed through human efforts like prayer, fasting, or church attendance.
  2. Blessings follow obedience to God's commandments and extend to future generations, while curses follow disobedience and also travel through bloodlines.
  3. Inherited curses pass through family lines due to ancestral sins, though individuals are not personally responsible for them, they can still be affected by them.
  4. The story of Gehazi in 2 Kings 5 demonstrates how disobedience to authority, greed for unjust gain, and lying gave demons a legal right to transfer Naaman's leprosy curse to Gehazi and his descendants.
  5. King Saul's breaking of Joshua's ancient treaty with the Gibeonites resulted in a three-year famine during David's reign, requiring atonement through the execution of Saul's descendants.
  6. Jeremiah and Ezekiel clarified that under the new covenant, individuals become directly responsible for their own sin, though grace does not stop curses from traveling through generations.
  7. Many personal curses result from forbidden actions including idolatry, occult practices, sexual sins, dishonoring parents, and refusing to support God's work.
  8. Freedom from curses requires honest self-examination, qualifying for freedom through Christ's atonement, and casting out demons in Jesus' name since breaking curses alone is insufficient.

Summary:

FAQs

He allowed them to hunger and then gave them a food their fathers had never known so they would learn that man does not live by bread alone but by every word from God's mouth. The manna was deliberately strange and unrepeatable to show that only God's word can satisfy every kind of hunger.

Elisha did not pronounce a curse on Gehazi; he simply told him the spiritual consequence of his actions. Gehazi's disobedience to authority, unjust gain, and lying gave demons a legal right to transfer Naaman's leprosy to him and his descendants.

Under the law, everything a leper owned was considered defiled and contaminated. By secretly taking Naaman's gifts, Gehazi brought defiled objects into his life, which opened the door for the demonically charged sickness to attach to him and his bloodline.

Saul violated a peace treaty Joshua had made with the Gibeonites about 350 years earlier by trying to annihilate them. The Bible does not record the massacre itself, only its consequences in 2 Samuel 21, where God said there was blood guilt on Saul and his house.

They pretended to come from a far country, wearing worn-out clothes and carrying stale bread. Although Joshua was suspicious, Israel swore an oath in God's name, and God honoured that agreement even though it was obtained by deception.

Jeremiah prophesied about 20 years before Ezekiel that a new covenant was coming in which people would no longer quote the proverb about fathers eating sour grapes. Ezekiel was confronting people who kept repeating that proverb even after God had already announced its coming obsolescence.
