Freedom: The Hour of Deliverance Session 1 - Sue Neil

This teaching explores the often-avoided topic of demons and deliverance within the Christian life. The speaker begins by establishing that Jesus came not only to die for sins but also to destroy the works of the devil, as stated in 1 John 3:8. Jesus demonstrated this mission by casting out demons throughout His ministry and by delegating authority over unclean spirits first to the 12 apostles and then to the 72 disciples, which the speaker argues represents the global church and refutes cessationist theology. The message emphasizes that a Christian can be oppressed by a demon but cannot be possessed, since possession implies ownership and believers belong to the Holy Spirit. Demons are described as spirits without bodies that can inhabit a person's flesh and soul, which comprises the mind, will, and emotions. They can only enter through a legal right, such as personal sin, ancestral sin, witchcraft, idolatry, or occult involvement. The speaker warns that demons operate by stealing, killing, and destroying, and that their presence often manifests through constant marital conflict, rage, nightmares, unexplained sickness, and cycles of crisis. The teaching encourages believers to examine themselves honestly, identify demonic activity, and use the authority Jesus gave them to find rest for their souls and experience the abundant life He promised.

0:10 Jesus Came to Destroy the Works of the Devil Session one. 0:36 I'd like you to read the following verse with me or follow along with me. Read along if you want to, but definitely pay attention to Luke chapter 4 verse 18. 0:56 The Spirit of the Lord or Yahweh is upon me, said Jesus, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind. 1:22 To set at liberty those who are oppressed. Can you read that last sentence with me, please? To set at liberty those who are oppressed. And again, please to set at liberty those who are oppressed, and one more time, please to set at liberty those who are oppressed. 1:51 Amen to the word of God. So if somebody asked you what Jesus came to do, you would most likely say he came to die for the sins of the world. You'd probably say that, and that is correct. 2:08 But He came to do a little more than that as well. 1 John chapter 3 verse 8. And this is the ending of the verse. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 2:31 Can you imagine saying that to somebody who says why did Jesus come from heaven to earth? Can you imagine saying, I'll tell you why? The reason why Jesus came to the earth was to destroy the works of the devil. Can you imagine saying that? 2:50 We don't say it, but This is why He came, because there is a devil and his works needed dealing with, and Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. 3:10 Jesus Sent Disciples with Authority Over Demons We're going to be looking at one of the ways the devil and his Kingdom works. But first of all, I'd like you to turn in your Bibles to Matthew chapter 10. 3:26 Turn in your Bibles to Matthew chapter 10, Matthew chapter 10, and please find verse one. Do you need a Bible? If you don't have one with you, do you need one? 3:51 It's not going to be up on the screen because I want you to see the word for yourself today. Matthew chapter 10, reading from verse one. Have you got it? OK, we thank the Lord for His recorded word. Amen. 4:07 And he called to him his 12 disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. The names of the 12 apostles are these first Simon who is called Peter and Andrew, his brother, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector, James the son of Alphaeus and Thaddeus, Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him. 4:44 These 12 Jesus sent out instructing them, go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel, and proclaim as you go, saying the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. 5:07 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons you received without paying. Give without pay. 5:24 Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff for the laborer deserves his food. Amen to the word of God. Now go to Luke chapter 10. 5:40 Luke, chapter 10. Have we got it? 5:58 After this the Lord appointed 72 others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where He himself was about to go. And he said to them, The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. 6:16 Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest. Go your way. Behold, I'm sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no money back, no knapsack, no sandals. 6:35 Greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter first say peace be to this house, and if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him, but if not, it will return to you and remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the labourer deserves his wages. 6:54 Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you, heal the sick in it, and say to them, The Kingdom of God has come near to you. But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off against you. 7:19 Nevertheless, know this, that the Kingdom of God has come near. I tell you, it'd be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town. Now jump down to verse 17. The 72 returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name. 7:45 And he said to them, I saw Satan full light lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 8:01 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Amen to the word of God. 8:20 Praise God for his word, Right? 8:23 Why Talking About Demons Makes People Uncomfortable OK, so you read that Jesus sent 12 apostles out first of all, Yes. And then he sent out some Bible versions, say 70, some say 72. He sent out the 72. 8:38 According to what we just read, the 72 represent the world. The 72 represents the global church that was going to follow. That was literally him giving us an order to do the same. 8:56 And that's a message for every cessationist that believes that the miracles of Jesus Christ have stopped working. A cessationist believes that the miracles stopped with the apostles, but that isn't true. 9:14 It's not true, and Jesus demonstrated that it wasn't to rest with only the 12 apostles, which is why he then sent out 72. You'll know more about that in time, but basically the 72 represent the nations of the world that you will find recorded in the book of Genesis. 9:35 It's a message to us, OK, just in case you're sitting there thinking that it is not for us today. That's wrong. You've seen it throughout the Gospels, and there are many references concerning Jesus dealing with demons. 9:52 Yes, you've read it many times. Yes, about a third of his ministry records him dealing with them and casting them out. Should I just say casting them out? He didn't do anything else with them apart from tell them to get out. 10:13 The New Testament refers to demons as evil spirits or unclean spirits, foul spirits or devils. Yes, we're talking about demons. 10:32 The casting out of demons or talking about demons isn't a popular subject in church. It's not spoken about a lot. It makes people feel uncomfortable, I think. 10:50 Well, I think that's what other pastors might think, that it makes people feel uncomfortable. I personally think it makes people feel uncomfortable because of what they've seen on TV, and perhaps it makes some ministers uncomfortable in talking about it because demons are a close reminder that there is a hell and that people go to that place from the age of accountability. 11:26 If they don't want to follow Jesus Christ, they go to where demons come from and go where they come from and go. If you're going to talk about demons, you have to preach the whole gospel. 11:41 And that's not comfortable for most people nowadays, but it is for me. You know why? Because I've been called to preach the truth. 11:57 And here we are, because of the leading of the Holy Spirit. Are you worried about your child hearing any of this teaching? I gave you the option today. You weren't to know what I was going to talk about. But perhaps if you knew, you'd have been. 12:13 Yeah, too. Right. Off you, like, go to Nova's Ark. Off you go to Little Stars. Perhaps you might have been that way. Do your children read Harry Potter books? What do they watch on TV? What sort of video games do they play? 12:32 Anyone chasing them in those video games? Are they catching any monsters in those video games? What about cartoons on TV? Anyone with fangs? Anyone chasing any cute little characters? This is one of the ways that demons find a way into the minds of children. 12:54 God's Word for Children and Generational Deliverance Let me go somewhere that I've deliberately planned to go. Did you know that when Israel gathered to hear the law of God that included details about blessings and curses, death and life? 13:17 Did you know that they had to bring their children to the meetings? Also, did you know that Deuteronomy 31 verse 12 says assemble the people, men, women and little ones, and the sojourner within your towns, that they may hear and learn to fear Yahweh your God. 13:43 And be careful to do all the words of this law. It wasn't just for adults. This is one of the reasons why, unfortunately, we had to sit through services as children that were four hours long. 14:00 Well, they felt like they were four hours long. Unfortunately for us, there wasn't always the privilege of there being a Sunday school or somewhere for children to go, so we had to sit right beside our mother. 14:18 We try not to because if we fidgeted we'd get pinched. We learnt how to sit there because we had to imagine Israel, Imagine Israel. 14:34 God said let them hear my law so that they can grow up and be careful to do all the words of this law. 14:49 Don't you find that interesting? So if ever there's a time that we're not able to have little stars or Noah's ark or anything else for children, it shouldn't worry you. It shouldn't concern you in the slightest because God calls children to hear His word being preached. 15:11 Can you imagine such a thing? You child sit here but I'm bored too bad. Can you imagine? No child in Israel would have said that? God said bring the little ones. 15:28 Moses commanded the law to be read to the whole assembly, specifically naming men, women, and little ones so they could learn to Revere the Lord and respect their parents. 15:44 If you're expecting Noah's ark to teach them all of that, we're not going to be able to fit it into one odd hour. They need what you need. Have a think about that. It's entirely up to you. 15:59 They're your children, but God wants them to be exposed to His Word. Guess what children were there when Moses read Deuteronomy? Well, what is recorded in Deuteronomy 11 verses 26 to 28? 16:17 See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a cursed children were there. The blessing if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you today, and the curse if you do not obey the commandments of Yahweh your God. 16:42 But turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today to go after other gods that you have not known. They were there when God put that before them. 17:01 And guess what, my brothers and sisters, every single one of our ancestors broke God's law and worshipped other gods. You can put your hand up if you know that your ancestors didn't. 17:25 So then these verses ought to be hitting you hard right now because God says I'm presenting before you the curse if you do not obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding you today to go after other gods that you have not known. 17:46 All of our ancestors worshipped other gods, and I'm sorry to tell you that aside from epigenetics or passed down behavioral traits from fathers to sons or mothers to daughters, there is biblical evidence of children suffering for the sins of their fathers. 18:14 Biblical evidence. God doesn't contradict himself, He is the judge. If you want to know where that is in the Bible, ask me. But tell me thank you after I've shared it with you. 18:29 I'm being serious, say thank you because we're learning. There's a lot in this Bible. Not everyone has time to go through it. 18:45 Or when God flags these things up for our attention, we need to be grateful. 18:52 Why Deliverance is Needed: Demonic or Flesh? OK, so even if it were just because of the fact that there is a curse, because we know that our ancestors worshipped other gods, we're going into a season of deliverance. 19:13 The people who clapped are happy. The people who haven't said a word don't understand. That's all I'll say. I'm not going to say you don't value what's going to be shared. 19:31 I'm going to say you don't have a clue, but you will know today about the grace of our God. Now I expect there to be lots of reasons why you can't make church for the next few weeks. 19:49 I expected it today. Lots of reasons. The Kingdom of Darkness is going to be working overtime to keep you. 20:05 From hearing what God has to say, and it's purposed by design. Now, some of us are already signed up for personal deliverance meetings, some have already had them, and some have already started to see change. 20:30 Isn't that right? They'll give their praise reports in their own time. But what I'm starting today is all about truth, OK? 20:45 It's not going to have anything to do with a power struggle between God and the enemy. What power struggle? Now come on. What? What? No, no, no, no, no. 21:01 You deal with God's enemies and our enemies with truth. Jesus didn't turn around to Satan and say you better move before I knock you out. He didn't say that. 21:16 He used the words, He used truth. And that's exactly what we're going to do. We're not wrestling with no demons. We will be using the Word of God, Amen, Praise the Lord. 21:36 But I've got to tell you, if this is not spoken about in church, and whatever church you go to hear what I'm saying, if it is not preached about, if it is not spoken about in this church and in any other church, then the full gospel is not being preached and Jesus is not being obeyed. 22:00 This church is not going to go down like that. The Lord will see that His commandment is being obeyed. Hallelujah. 22:18 But didn't we, didn't we go through this before? Didn't we deal with danger in the bloodline? Didn't we already deal with this to a point? 22:35 Did anything change for you after danger in the bloodline? How are your familial relationships? How are your friendships? How are things in your life? 22:52 How are things going? Some things Did they change to a point? OK, You want to know why it was to a point? 23:08 Because you didn't have any demons cast out of you. And why didn't we? For anyone who has been with us, you'd know that we ran out of time. 23:24 You'd know we had to leave the building. Timing. But the Lord has brought us right back. 23:46 He's brought us right back. 24:02 The job's got to get finished. Hallelujah, Hallelujah. This is why everything has been to a point. 24:19 That's why your agape stops and starts or hasn't started yet. You're talking kind of spiritual today, Pastor Sue. Could it be because God is a spirit and he said that we got to worship Him in spirit and in truth? 24:36 Could it be that you're a spirit with flesh on top of it? Could it be that you forget that you're a spirit, so spirit language must be preached. 24:52 Don't be fooled by all of this. That's not the real you. Have a look at someone who died 10 years ago. Have a look at what they look like. But if God could open your eyes to the spiritual realm, you'd see them alive and well, wherever they are. 25:09 The spirit doesn't die. Everything started and stopped. Perhaps it didn't start at all. 25:29 We've got to deal with demons. I mean, that could be why you're battling tormenting thoughts that hit you randomly. That could be why you can't open your mouth to say hello to certain people and wonder what's wrong with you. That could be why you start having a good relationship with the Lord at the beginning of the week and by the time Friday comes, there's nothing there. 25:57 That could be why there is no manifestation of the things of God in your life. That could be why you still haven't seen a manifestation or you haven't caught wind or air of the spiritual gift that the Holy Spirit has purposed for your life. 26:18 Look, it's either demonic or it's your flesh. You choose. You say now it's gonna be either one or the other. Why you're going in circles, why you keep getting to a point where things look like they're about to happen and they don't. 26:38 You choose. It's either demonic or it's your flesh. It's either curse activity as God pronounced in Deuteronomy, or it's just the way things go. 26:55 You choose. God told me He wants me to worship Him in spirit, which means He wants me to be concerned for the things of the spirit. So I'm going to nose around in that realm and get my answers. 27:17 Praise God. You got to choose. It's either demonic, or it's your flesh, or whatever you want to say, or it's bad luck, or or whatever you choose, you choose. Because either way you look at it, it certainly isn't Jesus. 27:39 Can a Christian Be Oppressed by a Demon? Can a Christian have a demon? Can a Christian have a demon? We can indeed, and sometimes more than one. 28:00 There are a lot of Christians who don't believe that a Christian can have a demon. But how comes a Christian can catch a cold the same as an unbeliever? How come a Christian can catch flu and say that person gave it to me and that person's an unbeliever? 28:21 Oh, people on the train were coughing, so I caught it. But the people on the train may not have been Christians. You're a Christian. What are you doing with a cold? Can a Christian have a serious disease? 28:36 What? The same as an unbeliever, right? Why can't a Christian have a demon? Well, we need to be able to answer the question properly, don't we? We need to be able to talk about this properly because we may need to share this with somebody or even learn about it for ourselves. 28:58 Perhaps this is the first time we've ever heard something like this talked about. Go with me, please to or at least take note of Matthew chapter 816, Matthew 816. 29:25 That evening they brought to him, This is Jesus, many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the Spirit with a word and healed all who were sick. 29:46 Amen to the Word of God. Now the three words oppressed by demons. You see those 3 words in that verse? Oppressed by demons. OK, those 3 words have been translated from the Greek word diamonizomahi. 30:08 Try and say that. Yeah. You see, it's not easy, is it? Thank you very much. OK dahi Monizomahi, those 3 words were translated from that Greek word. 30:29 The word oppressed is the right word Dahi Mon idzomahi. In English it means demonized, and the whole thing means coming under the power of a demon or an evil spirit. 30:48 Coming under the power of a demon or an evil spirit. Let's look at that verse again. That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits of the word and healed all the sick. 31:13 They brought many people to Him who were under the power of a demon, OK? We need to just see it and not skip it like we might do sometimes when we're reading in our own time at 10:45 at night. 31:36 We see it, we see demon, and we turn the page. OK, that's great. That's wonderful, Lord, but we need to pay attention to this, OK? 31:51 Oppressed is the right translation. It's the correct translation. I have to say that because some of your Bible translations might say possessed, possessed by demons, you will see that in the NIV, the KJV, the NKJV, You'll find that in the NLT. 32:18 You'll find that in the NASB. You will find that in many Bible translations. And it's not correct. And it's such an unfortunate error because this doesn't help Christians when we think about demons and when we think about people having demons, it doesn't help because if we read in the Bible that Jesus dealt with people who were possessed, we think about movies like The Amateurville Horror, We think about The Omen. 32:55 We well you guys haven't seen that and the Exorcists, all of those crazy films when you mentioned someone possessed by a demon, there's no way it can be a Christian it and guess what? 33:13 A true Christian can't be possessed by a demon. OK, so if anyone says can a Christian have a demon, yes, they can be oppressed by a demon, but not possessed because the word possessed is a reference of ownership. 33:40 If you're possessed, you're owned. I believe I'm possessed by the Holy Spirit. Jesus owns me. OK, so they can never ever own us, but they can harass us and they can oppress us. 34:03 And that they do. 34:07 Demons as Spirits: How They Enter and Where They Live So what we are discussing is demonic oppression. OK, demonic oppression. Now, this same verse also teaches us what demons actually are, in case you're wondering. 34:28 What are they? Read it again that evening. They brought to him many who were oppressed by demons and he cast out the spirits. So what are demons in the New Testament? 34:46 This is who they are. They are spirits. And it's so awesome. He did it with a word. I just love that he didn't get down on his knees and pray and tell the apostles, come on, join me, join me. 35:05 He did it with a word. Hallelujah. It's nothing for you to be worried about, OK? They're what we are. They are persons without bodies. 35:21 We are persons with bodies. OK, Now you might say, no, no, no, I'm not no demon. I'm not a spirit. But they're a spirit. You just saw that they're a spirit. The Bible says God is God, is a spirit, and he wants us to worship him in spirit. 35:49 He wants the spiritual life from us. OK, It's nothing to worry about. All right, we continue. The word spirit in the New Testament has been translated from the Greek word numa Numa, pronounced pneuma, pneuma. 36:13 And it means breath. It means spiritual. It means wind. It means winds. It means spirit. It means a spirit. I mean a current of air, for example, breath blast or a breeze. 36:31 Now don't bother trying to work out what they look like. You've got your own reflection to deal with. Have you got enough on your plate? 36:46 Don't worry your imagination with that, but I want you to look at what they actually are. They're described as breath or a breeze, wind, a current of air. 37:04 Pay attention then to how easily they can come in. Did you hear that? OK, All of those atmospheres that you're warned not to go into as Christians and you think, Nah, Nah, it's cool, It's nothing, It's nothing. 37:20 You're breathing them in. How do you think the Holy Spirit came into you? How do you think Adam became a living soul? 37:40 God breathed into his nostrils and in went the Spirit of God. This is why we Christians need to be different, because we're going to have knowledge of this. 37:59 No, you go. I don't want to be breathing in any of them. Demons. I'll tell you what, they're easier to breathe in than to get out. 38:22 So if we can have a demon or demons, and we know they're spirits so we can relax, where do they live? Where do they live? They live in our flesh and they live in our souls. 38:40 And our souls are made-up of our minds, our will, and our emotions. I'll say that again, our souls are made-up of our minds, our will and our emotions. 39:00 But you also said, Pastor Sue, that they can live in our flesh. Yes. When Peter's mother-in-law was sick with a fever, Jesus went to her, and the Bible tells us that he rebuked the fever. 39:23 Where? Where do fevers take place? Are they not in the flesh? OK, Jesus rebuked the demon that caused the fever. In the flesh. 39:40 There are some mothers, if they're honest, when they give praise reports, they'll tell you that whenever things are going on with their babies, or what have I put them right onto spiritual things? I have them speaking the word over them and casting things out. 40:01 Those poor babies can't defend themselves. They're in a room where the parents might be arguing. What do you think they're breathing in? They can't defend themselves. And then all you, all you see then is the child is no longer settled, no longer as peaceful as they used to be, and you don't know what to do. 40:24 Learn today. Pay attention to what Jesus did and what he told us to do also, but leave the babies alone. 40:42 What do you want these things to do? We have got to protect our environments. Jesus said. Peace I leave with you and I'm also going to leave you with joy. Where is it? 40:59 Sorry, where is it? Where is it? Please, I can look at some people and wonder where it is. Be honest Lord, I don't feel that joy. Why not? He gave it to you, He's not a liar. 41:17 Where is it? Why is it suppressed? Lord Jesus, you said that my joy would be full. 41:33 I don't even feel a percentage of it, let alone it feeling complete. Where is this joy? We need to go looking. Don't you think so? 41:48 We need to go looking so they can live in your flesh through sickness. They can live in our souls, which is made-up of our minds, our will and our emotions. The Holy Spirit lives in our spirits, OK? 42:09 They don't share the same space. Don't worry, They don't share the same space. They can't go where the Holy Spirit is. But the Holy Spirit and I have shared this before. 42:25 The Holy Spirit's job, The reason why he's within us, should I say, is because he wants to influence our flesh. He wants to influence our souls. Otherwise, what's the point? 42:43 Oh, you don't think that God could raise us from the dead? You don't think God can do anything? Course he can. Look what happened to Elijah. He didn't even die. There was no mention of the Holy Spirit being deposited in him. 42:59 God just took him up. There is a reason why the Holy Spirit lives within us. God has written His law on our hearts so that we can do it, but it's like it's just sitting in the heart and it can't go anywhere else. 43:15 It can't move to the left, it can't move to the right, it can't get through the soul, and it definitely can't get through the flesh. 43:21 Demons Cannot Affect Your Spirit, But Can Oppress Your Soul What's going on? Come on, what's going on? What's going on? A demon can never affect the spirit of a believer. 43:39 Your spirit belongs to God. It's safe in His hands. This is why I rejoice whenever I don't know. There's a song that talks about Jesus being the lover of our souls. 43:56 I rejoice. You know why I rejoice? Because I know what it means. He loves our souls and should be the Bishop. He should be the overseer. 44:13 He should be in control of who comes in and who's trying to break in and who's trying to live in our souls. It's more than Him just loving our souls. It's more than that. 44:30 This is why, I mean, we'll talk about that more next week, God willing. But This is why He came to give us rest for our souls. Do you know what a soul is like if there are demons coming in and out of it? I won't rest for my soul now, not when I die. 44:50 Write that on my tombstone. Write. She had rest for her soul. It's for now. If it's not for now, then abundant life is not for now either. It's for now. 45:07 Praise the Lord. That's why I rejoice now. When you say Jesus is the Bishop of my soul, you are giving him authority to rule an area that can be broken into. 45:32 Jesus knows what's hiding in your soul. The Bible tells us nothing is hidden from Him. Every creature is laid bare before the one that we have to do. 45:50 That's the book of Hebrews. You ever wondered what that verse means? Every creature is laid bare. What creature? You hold that for a minute. 46:08 So Christians can have demons? Absolutely. Two of two of Jesus disciples from his inner circle experienced demonic oppression. Come on, what were their names? And Peter and one of his most loyal followers who helped to support Jesus's ministry with her money, had seven demons. 46:34 What was her name? She had seven demons before Jesus cast them out. What did these people have in common? They were Jews, the chosen people of God. 46:50 Hold on. Wait a minute. The chosen people of God had demons and you don't think you can have any? I don't mean to be rude, but God said Israel is MyHeritage. 47:07 He set those people aside for himself and Jesus came casting demons out of them. What about us? 47:24 Can a child have a demon? Yeah, you can read about that in your own chime. Mark Chapter 9, verses 14 to 29. Read about it in your own chime. And what about the woman who begged Jesus to cast a demon out of her daughter? 47:41 What about the slave girl that had a spirit of divination that annoyed Apostle Paul got on his nerves. It went on for days and he had enough and said you know what? Come out of her in the name of Jesus. 47:58 He had enough. Ever wondered why he did that? If he didn't, it would look like the devil was shearing in the ministry. That was a demon preaching through the girl. 48:17 These men are preaching about the Most High and how to have salvation. It sounds good until you see who's speaking. What has light got to do with darkness? 48:37 If it wasn't a problem of the two trying to roll together, a possible would have left it. But he knows that God is light and in him is no darkness. So come out in the name of Jesus. 48:59 If you have a demon, I need to tell you something. You're not special. There's nothing special about you. Neither does it make you strange. OK, we all have a past and they may have come in that way. 49:20 They may have come in through your past. Sadly, some people are born with them because of what their parents did. 49:29 Legal Rights and the Origin of Unclean Spirits We'll go into all of that as we continue on. If you are alive and you are on planet Earth, you could easily have a demon. You may have opened the door to it, or it may have been passed down to you. Generationally they come through curse activity caused by personal sin, sexual sin, ancestral sin, witchcraft, idolatry, rebellion, addictions. 50:01 That's all I'll say for now. Etcetera, etcetera. If the doorway is open, it gives permission to a demon or an evil spirit or an unclean spirit to inhabit a believer. 50:18 If the doorway is open, they can only enter if they have a legal right. God deals with His creation according to law. God is the righteous judge of all the earth. 50:37 They can only come in if they have a legal right. Look, it's not that. Let's say it's something that you did. It's not that you welcome them, you know? 50:54 Hey, unless you were trying to conjure up demons, unless you were using a Ouija board. I'm sorry if you were. If you've used the Ouija board, you have demons. Unless someone has cast them out of you, you have them, you called them up. 51:10 Where do you think they went? Oh, when the game's over. Oh, OK, bye. 51:25 As they come up, they say yes, a house. I'm going to be able to live a little. And depending on the nature of that demon is what you then manifested. 51:49 It depends on the nature. It depends on what 1 you brought up. Look, we got to be real today. Got to be real today they have to have a legal right, just like opening the patio door or a window. 52:14 I'm sorry. It gives legal permission to flies and all sorts to come in. As far as they're concerned, if the windows open, they can walk in. 52:31 So who are these demons anyway? Who are they? They're either believed to be fallen angels or, as the Jews believed in the Second Temple period, they believed them to be the spirits of the Nephilim, the hybrid children of fallen angels who had children with women. 52:58 You've read it, but you may not believe it. It's recorded for you in Genesis chapter 6, verses 2 and four. Do you know how many Christians don't believe that angels rebelled against God and came down and chose wives and had children with them? 53:17 Do you know how many of them don't believe that? They just think that's so weird. How could they do that? Well, how did Mary have a baby without a man? So we pick and choose the spiritual things. We want to believe it happened, OK, it happened. 53:36 And they believe that these demons are the spirits of the Nephilim hybrid children. So when the flood happened and when they die, because they're half human and half angelic, their spirits can't go anywhere because there was no way designed for them. 53:57 So they roam the earth looking for bodies to inhabit. That's what the ancient Jews believe. But some scholars understand these spirits to be what they are, which is hybrid, and there is a biblical reason for it. 54:19 OK, Remember scholars study the word and their meanings and here's the reason why. They believe that they are the spirits of the fallen angels and women. 54:35 The New Testament term unclean spirits is translated from the Greek word akathatos, meaning not pure. Akathatos is primarily about unnatural mixtures and the realm of the dead. 54:51 This underpins the idea of their origin as the spirits of dead giants. You know the Nephilim were giants, so when they died, their spirits, which are mixed, are called unclean. So whenever you read that Jesus cast out an unclean spirit, it's not that they didn't have a shower, it's because of their mixture. 55:15 OK, that's what it means. 55:22 The Kingdom of Darkness Steals, Kills, and Destroys John 1010 The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and destroy. But I have come that they may have a life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 55:44 I need to tell you that these unclean spirits aren't always by themselves. They're supported by and sometimes accompanied by spirits who occupy the heavenly realms. 56:01 These are the principalities and the territorial spirits who are indeed fallen angels. And yes, they sometimes get involved as well. They're all a Kingdom. They get involved too. 56:17 Now these malevolent beings were created by God to minister good things to believers. Are you hearing me? They were created to minister good things to believers, but they fail and they rebelled against God, but they're still in operation. 56:37 And now they minister harm along with the hybrid unclean spirits, which is why we just read John 1010. Everyone reads this verse and only thinks of Satan himself. Jesus is telling us about what the Kingdom of darkness does. 56:56 All of them. They steal, they kill and they destroy. Jesus said that that's all they do. They steal, they kill, and they destroy. 57:19 They steal. They take another person's property without permission or legal right, without intending to return it. They kill. They cause the death of a person or a spiritual relationship with God. 57:37 They destroy. End the existence of something by damaging it or attacking it. Did you know that aside from the Nephilim that these fallen angels were created to do the opposite? 58:01 Did you know what is the opposite of stealing? The opposite of stealing is giving or donating, handing over an item freely. 58:17 The opposite of killing is saving, protecting, and preserving lives. The opposite of destroying is to create. 58:32 Guess who does all of those things now? Jesus. Because of what they do. Do we get it? How many need Jesus? 58:47 Anyone need Jesus and I need Jesus. It ain't a joke no more. I need Jesus. It's not a joke. People out there in the world are mocking his name, using his name as a swear word. 59:04 They must be talking about another Jesus because this Jesus is saving my soul. 59:36 These beings were created should you the opposite Hebrews 114 says are they not all minister and spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation? 59:59 I'm going to share something with you. Minister and spirits were created by God. To serve us and to do the opposite of what Jesus said they do. 1:00:20 Now you want proof of that? Was Jesus 100% man? Did someone say no in here? 1:00:35 OK, Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. OK, the book of Luke records his suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, or it actually calls it the Mount of Olives. 1:00:57 He was so I'll. But the Bible tells us his sweat was like drops of blood. What else does that account tell you? That angels came to strengthen him? 1:01:17 Did you hear that? So all the time. And don't get me wrong, don't try and ask an Angel to do this, because they only obey God. All right? Did you know how many times angels have strengthened you? 1:01:36 Hebrews 114. Are they not ministering spirits? This is angels that we're talking about. See their spirits as well. You don't mind them, do you? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who inherit salvation? 1:01:53 I gave you an example. Jesus being 100% man was weak. God sent an Angel to strengthen him, but now we've got the fallen ones doing the opposite, wearing us down, making us weary, making us drop asleep every time we pick up our Bibles. 1:02:23 Oh, you think it's normal to fall asleep every time you pick up your Bible? Test yourself, pick up your phone and let's see how long you stay awake. No. Do a test on yourself. Drop asleep with the nice asleep. You know the nice one, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. 1:02:42 You know that one. You know that one, right? Test yourself. When it hits you, pick up your phone. Live in the Spirit, says Apostle Paul. If you are in the Spirit, live in the Spirit, walk in the Spirit, and be aware of what's going on. 1:03:12 Don't Blame God: Confront Demonic Activity Now we all remember that Jesus said that He came to give us abundant life. But how are we supposed to experience this abundant life here on earth if these demons are messing it up? Worse still, some of them have a legal right. 1:03:31 What do you want your God to do? We've got to learn how to deal with things that we have brought on ourselves. You know, we'll see things stolen from us and we'll blame God. 1:03:48 We'll get vexed with God for not keeping it for us. Why'd you let that happen? If you're God, why'd you let that happen? Other people are getting on in life. Why's that happened to me? Why not me? Even you blame God, but that's not the truth. 1:04:07 We're learning about the truth today, right? The truth said that they are the ones that steal from you. Why can't you believe Jesus? Who is the truth? Has it been stolen from you? It's got nothing to do with God. 1:04:24 You need to be like demon, demon, I'm going to find you. I'm going to find you and you're going to give it back. You're going to give it back. Oh, and that's biblical and scriptural, by the way. 1:04:41 But I ain't got time to show you. The thief has to repay. And if it was a demon that took it, Oh well, give it back, God willing. We'll go into these things, God willing. 1:04:57 But I just need you to know that there are so many things that they've taken. And because we didn't know that we could command them to give it back, oh Lord, all we're doing is waiting for God to restore. 1:05:19 When there is blatant scripture that says if the thief is found, if you find out their demon, if you find out. 1:05:36 You know, we're too human. You know, too human. We're too civilised. We got to live according to the truth. Don't blame God for what he didn't take. 1:05:52 Jesus said they steal. One minute's with you, next minute it's gone. What? What? What? I hardly got used to the thing. What? What? What? It's them, OK? They're the ones that kill your dreams. 1:06:09 They're the ones that destroy your lives. They're the ones that destroy friendships. They're the ones that destroy families. How's your family doing? It's them. They're the ones that attack marriages. 1:06:25 They're the ones that destroy relationships. They're the ones that want you single. Wait until you hear about spirit husbands and spirit wives. 1:06:40 You ain't going to like that one when I start. You won't like it, but it's real. Understand this. You're a spirit. When you go to sleep, not all of you is asleep. 1:06:57 This is why we bless God for His word that says He neither sleeps. He watches over Israel. We need it just because. 1:07:16 Listen, I I try to warn people. I try to tell people that I love. Don't you dare go to bed without praying. You think you're all asleep. You're 1/3 asleep. 1:07:33 The rest of you is wide awake. You ever been somewhere and said, you know, I feel like I've been here before. You know this place. This place looks familiar. Well, maybe you did. Oh, what is she talking about? 1:07:50 What is she? Oh, come on. Come on, the Apostle Philip was so filled with the Holy Ghost that he travelled by Spirit. I've shared that with you before. Can you imagine living a life like that? 1:08:06 Can you imagine not being able to get a seat on a train and saying, forget this, getting off the train and flying to work. 1:08:28 We're too human, too human, man. We need to live in the spirit because that is what we are. 1:08:43 It's what we are. We got enemies and they're evil. They're doing the opposite of what they were created to do on purpose. It ain't by accident. I said to you. They're doing the opposite of what they were created to do. 1:09:00 Lucifer, his name means Light bringer, but what's his name now? The Prince of Darkness? You see the opposite. They do the opposite now. 1:09:16 We shouldn't make excuses for demonic behaviour. How many times you're going to say, I've just got to work on my anger. How many times you're going to say, I just got to work on being friendly to that person? 1:09:37 How many times are you going to say, I, I, I, I just need to work on demonstrating consistent love to my husband or to my wife? You know, I get started and then I stop. Why can't you see that something is stopping you and that it might not be you? 1:10:00 Because you keep tripping up and then you keep getting in trouble for it? It's like a merry go round. All right, all right. I'll do better. I'll do better. You do better for two weeks and then you're right back again. And you know that they're not going to be happy. 1:10:15 You're going to go through the same thing for the rest of your life. When are you going to wake up? Why can't you maintain a spiritual standard? Are you not in control? 1:10:36 Is that why you can't do it? Why is it that you can maintain a standard when it pertains to the flesh? Anything the flesh wants to do, your standard is through the roof. 1:10:58 No days off. We're talking about smash this thing. Why can't you smash spiritual things? You know you want to. 1:11:13 How many of you said, Lord forgive me how many times for doing the same thing over and over and over again? 1:11:30 Jesus came to give you rest for your souls because there's stuff in there doing stuff you don't want to do. 1:11:46 Now you won't know. Please hear me. Now you won't know. That it's a serious issue or a demon you won't know because you have taken responsibility for something that already isolates you from people. 1:12:11 It already causes you problems how many times you have to send a text explaining yourself. Roof, Aren't you bored? 1:12:31 Aren't we new creations? So what's with this old business? We keep taking responsibility, sometimes for what is clearly demonic activity. 1:12:49 And you know what you do in the meantime? In the meantime, you convince yourself and you pretend that you do have love. I do have love. I do. I do, I do. You pretend that you are something that you're not just to get through. 1:13:05 But if you admit it and you take off your dressing gown, what's this? Come on. We've convinced ourselves to be what we're not. 1:13:24 Imagine if you admitted it. Jesus will then say, would you now like rest for your soul? Is there room for my word in your life now or are we still acting? 1:13:49 I just want you to have a think about that. Even the world believes that they fight their inner demons. Have you ever heard the term fighting my demons? 1:14:10 Well, have you ever heard them say, oh, he couldn't get rid of his demons? That's the world talking about demons. But we don't want to hear it in church. We don't want to hear it, but the world have accepted that sometimes things aren't right and there is an unnatural struggle that goes on within them. 1:14:33 Fighting My Demons is a metaphor for grappling with severe internal struggles. It describes the daily, often exhausting battle against personal issues like past trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety or deep seated self doubt. 1:14:54 And you know that the list goes on. 1:15:00 Identify Demonic Activity and Find Rest in Jesus So if the world know about fighting demons, what about the church that has the remedy? We have the remedy because Jesus has given us authority. 1:15:19 We have it. Do you have a demon? I want you to have a think about this. I'll ask you the question again. 1:15:35 And don't be looking around the room to see who's got one. Do you have a demon? The first thing your flesh is going to say, Well, how do you? I don't have no demon. I mean, have a think about it. 1:15:50 Do you have a demon? An unclean spirit. I understand this is hard for some of you guys, but let me tell you something. 1:16:06 What if the Lord shows people like me things that live in you? What if He's shown me? 1:16:24 Does that match what you're bearing witness to? It's all right for you to say no, or you can keep your dignity and keep your demons. 1:16:39 You can keep your title. I don't want No title. Add demon to your title. Have a think please. Apostle Peter was oppressed by a demon and that demon's name was Satan. 1:17:04 How about that? That wasn't even one of the fallen ones, it was literally him himself. Jesus said Satan asked if I could mess you about. So who do we think we are? 1:17:21 Sorry, I just want to know who we think we are. Don't protect your wife. Don't protect your husband. Don't protect yourself. Don't protect your children. Jesus came to set the captives free. 1:17:42 You got some ranked teenager at home. Don't join the world and say puberty. Puberty What? Where is that in the Old Testament? Ruth child, come here. Let me stone you at the gate. 1:17:58 Any of you who have read the Old Testament would see that God said honour your mother and father. There was no puberty. Oh yeah, he'll grow out of it. He'll grow out of what? 1:18:13 Understand what's manifesting and take authority in Jesus name or go along with the world and give a key to every demon. Not that they need a key. 1:18:29 It's up to us, it's 100% up to us. Instead of saying no I don't have one or or whatever, just just examine yourself. OK? 1:18:45 How do I know if I have a demon or not? Past I see. Good question. Very briefly. If a person is experiencing signs of demonisation, it will work against them mentally or emotionally. It will torment the soul. 1:19:03 There will be no lasting peace unless we force ourselves to keep busy and make our own peace. Now, we may not notice the unwanted guests, and that's on purpose because they want you to think that all your arguments, all your fights, all your issues is you. 1:19:34 They're not stupid. They can't let you know that they're there because you might have them cast out. And then what would they do? They can't let you know that they're the ones causing the problems in your marriage. 1:19:53 They can't let you know. They can't let you know because you might wake up and then where will they live, man? But it's true. You have to understand their point of view. 1:20:12 You're a spirit there. A spirit. Understand. OK. Understand marriage problems. These are signs of demonization. I'm talking constant marriage problems. 1:20:27 OK? Violence. Any form of violence. Rage, including the rage that you've learned to bottle up. You know that rage, the one that comes through your nose. 1:20:42 The cartoons were right. You know the cartoons. No, they were right. They were right. They were right. Frequent trauma. Going from crisis to crisis. You can't even catch a break. 1:21:00 Untimely, unnatural deaths. Breakdown of family relationships. Strife, constant anger, Unexplained sickness and disease. 1:21:18 Pains coming on your body from everywhere and from nowhere. And because of nothing, supposedly nightmares, sleep disturbances. 1:21:37 If there is curse activity in your life, there is a demon because they're assigned to it. How do you think the curse works? Oh, you think it's God? Oh, no, no, no, no, no. He turns you over to the enemy. 1:21:56 He steps back, the blessing is withheld, and you're turned over for your life to come to ruin. But for us Christians who pray, you know what he does? 1:22:12 He lets us have rain, and we think the rain means everything's OK. But I told you last week, you can't live with rain because it doesn't rain every day. 1:22:28 What we need is the Father's love, and we need abundant life. All of the things that I just read to you are summarized from the curses listed in Deuteronomy 28 verses 15 to 68. 1:22:50 OK, if you want to read it yourself, all I read to you was a brief summary of there of of of you being able to know that there is demonic activity going on in your life based on what Deuteronomy 28 verses 15 to 68 says demons are hiding. 1:23:11 They want to convince you that you don't need to do anything. Don't let them lie to you. Look for them. If you know anyone with spiritual insight, or the gift I should say, because the world practices insight, the spiritual gift of discernment, perhaps even prophetic eyesight, ask them, but don't let them lie to you. 1:23:44 Look for them and admit that they are there. Matthew 11/28/29 Now do you understand what we're about to read? 1:24:01 Come to me, all you who labour and are come on heavy, and I will give you rest. 1:24:18 Take my yoke upon you, meaning walk with me and learn from me. Submit to me because I'm gentle. I'm not like them demons who rough you up. I'm I'm gentle and lowly in heart. 1:24:36 I won't break into your dreams. I won't chase you in your dreams. If I enter your dreams, you'll know it because you'll feel my love. And you will find rests for your souls. 1:24:59 Rests for your souls, rest for your soul.

Summary:

FAQs

'Daimonizomai' means to come under the power of a demon or evil spirit and is best translated as 'oppressed' or 'demonized,' not 'possessed.' The word 'possessed' wrongly implies ownership, which no Christian can have because the Holy Spirit owns them.

Demons enter only through legal rights or open doorways, which include personal sin, sexual sin, ancestral sin, witchcraft, idolatry, rebellion, addictions, or occult practices like using a Ouija board. They cannot enter without a legal right, because God deals with His creation according to law.

The human spirit belongs to God and cannot be touched by demons, but demons can inhabit the flesh and the soul, which consists of the mind, will, and emotions. The Holy Spirit lives in the believer's spirit, so demons cannot share that space.

Demons are believed to be either fallen angels or the spirits of the Nephilim, the hybrid offspring of fallen angels and women described in Genesis 6. The Greek term 'unclean spirits' (akathatos) means 'not pure,' referring to their unnatural mixture, which supports the Nephilim origin view.

Examine yourself for signs such as constant marriage problems, violence, rage, frequent trauma, unexplained sickness, nightmares, or curse activity from Deuteronomy 28. Seek the spiritual gift of discernment or prophetic insight from others, admit the demons are there, and take authority in Jesus' name rather than blaming God.

It only worked 'to a point' because no demons were actually cast out during that session—they ran out of time and had to leave the building. The job must be finished through actual deliverance, which is why the current season of deliverance is necessary.
