Fox News FREAKS OUT That Zohran Mamdani is Hot & Republicans Are Not
34m 17s
The conversation between John and Tim Miller covers several political topics, blending humor and critique. Initially, they analyze Trump's White House renovation announcement, joking about his focus on granite and drone-proof roofs while questioning whether this signals an intention to stay beyond his term. They contrast this with serious reporting on Iran's post-ceasefire strategies, highlighting the absurdity of Trump's priorities amid geopolitical threats. The discussion then shifts to Fox News criticizing Democrats for featuring younger, attractive candidates, with hosts like Laura Ingram and Jesse Watters mocking their appeal and invoking socialism. Miller and John note the irony, given Fox's own hyper-stylized presentation and past attacks on Obama's celebrity. A significant segment focuses on Scott Jennings' emotional defense of Natalie Harp, a Trump aide, after Ossoff hinted at inappropriate reasons for her position. The hosts dissect the hypocrisy of Republicans defending a woman's integrity while supporting Trump, who has a history of misogyny, and examine Harp's obsessive devotion to Trump, including her false claims about the "Right to Try" law. Finally, they praise New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani for his multilingual outreach and political savvy, contrasting his responsiveness and credibility with Republican outrage, and conclude by admiring his effective, old-fashioned politicking.
How dare you, John, impune the integrity of this private citizen that spends every waking hour with the president of the United States paid for by your tax payer dollars, how dare you impune her integrity like that? You people are disgusting. Hey everybody, welcome back to speech center and a big welcome back to Tim Miller. Tim, did you check out your colleague Sarah Longwell's knockout performance on our last episode? Of course not, no. I was on vacation and I heard I was replaced. I didn't want to have to accidentally see the comments praising her or anything like that. So I just was blissfully unaware in Marseille. A great place to be blissfully unaware. If you're going to be blissfully unaware, do it in Marseille. I'm always saying that. And I sat down with JVL for Positive America. I did listen to that actually on my flight home from Europe, from vacation. I'm glad you guys are bonding. JVL really likes you a lot. I tell you more than I like you. It seems like it's cool, which is nice that you guys meant to be. Kindred spirits. Everybody thought it was great. I just want to say, I just want to say it was objectively great. But for me, I just I knew everything that both of you were going to say. Well, sure. And so I was I was hoping for like deep insights, but I but you know, you guys I hear from a lot and we had this emotional connection different ways me and you and JVL. And so I was like, oh, well, I knew how this would go already. But I'm glad other people were pleasantly surprised. Well, I think the next time JVL and I talk will go deeper. I think we had to do a first round to really kind of lock into our shared sort of sense of the darkness. You know, and now we've done that. But enough about how great a rapport I have with JVL. Now it's time for the great rapport. I have with Tim Miller as we look at Trump from this morning updating reporters on his construction projects at America's White House. This is the highest quality stone you can get and especially for something like this. It's got it's rated a million year plus. That means it has a million year life. Can you imagine that? So nature is stronger than what the human can produce. It's really pretty amazing. This carries on out into the helipad. The granite top says the seal of the United States of America. That's the exact term meaning the president is in the White House. The military complex is going to have a drone proof roof and you're going to have one top of the roof. You're going to have drones, spitty drones, which will protect Washington DC and will protect the White House. Very important. This has all been redone. It's all been topsoiled. In other words, we put topsoil, brand new earth on top. Very, you know, very, you've been topsoil. A lot of good ingredients in that earth for grass. If you're grass, you're very happy. The Wall Street Journal reports that over the 60-day period under which the memo of understanding was operating. The Iranians had what's known as a strategy in which they were developing a plan for what would happen after the ceasefire officially expired, including putting pressure on other countries in the region to create side deals that acknowledge Iran's control of the state of Hormuz while also building up redundancies inside of Iran's command and control and developing plans to escalate, including destroying undersea cables and other ways in which they can menace the entire region. The president is very excited about the granite he's picked out for his renovation. Does that seem like I'm going to be JPL? Does that seem like a god's leaping to you? I don't know. I mean, maybe I'm not saying 100%. He's not going to leave, but that seems like the type of talk that you would have if it was a house you were planning on staying in for a while. You know, the new topsoil, the million-year granite, the safety bunker, the drones. You know, the new flagpole, you didn't put the pole clip, you had a lot of pole talk to me. I guess that's just something that's a little concerning. I have two reactions inside of me like there is the, how is this our life? How is this person in charge? It's where you went, like this is absurd. The Iranians are running circles around our president who's a buffoon and this is unbelievable. How stupid it is. There's that one part of my reaction and there's the other part of me that's like, hmm, I'm a little concerned about the trajectory here. Yes, it would be a shame to do all of this work and move out right as it's completed, right? The timing is pretty tough, probably, so ordinary about all the judges who keep shutting down construction for periods of time. You know, by the same logic, oftentimes, celebrities will do an architectural digest tour of their home and they will walk around their home and they'll say, when we found this place, we knew it was our forever home, which is why we put in this granite and this reclaimed wood in this chair we found in Marseille. But actually what they're doing is building up interest in selling it at a profit. It's actually a scheme. They're trying to get people to see it on architectural digest and raise the value of the home because it's so exciting and illustrious that it was in this magazine, though Trump probably can't sell the White House, so directly, though he has sold it in other ways. Obviously, the fear is that he doesn't want to leave, which is why he's doing all this. I do think that another explanation is also quite reasonable, which is like any person who's totally lost control over the grand parts of their life, you know, they're in the midst of a terrible divorce. Their kids won't speak to them. They don't like their job. They do get very focused on cleaning out the whole closet, you know? They get very focused on the little projects we can control. That's human as well. Yeah, it is. I think there's also a little middle ground. I guess another thing that came across my brain when I was on holiday after Marseille went to Paris as well, did you rub it in? But it's my only vacation, I think, until 2029, assuming we. I'm glad the granite will still be there for a million years. What will we be in 2029? That's a question, Mark. But when I was there, and I was looking at the majesty of the Arctic Tree Homes, and I started to think to myself, what? I don't really know the full backstory of the Arctic Tree Homes. Why is this here? You know, I got on my trusty phone and started refreshing my memory. A lot of it is just like Napoleon's small-man syndrome, like this ego, like he needed this big thing. It's beautiful. It's a kind of ruined moment for me because I started thinking about Napoleon's small-man syndrome. Then our president's tiny dick syndrome, and now Trump is trying to do this. And I do think Trump is maybe not trying to stay, but he sees himself, and he said this, which is in the paper in Swadbach, is like a Napoleon figure. And if he does all these projects, then in 50 years and 100 years, like the particulars of his crypto scam will wash away. But people will look at the arch or the granite and say that was Trump. I think you might be thinking like that. Yes. I do think we're in a situation that's a little bit like the movie Tenet, where the narcissistic billionaire can't imagine a world without him in it. I would much rather, he put that energy towards building ugly, gaudy things, then saying nuclear destruction, additional wars, or other kind of terrible policy ideas that he has in his mind. So of all the things he could be focused on, ironically, I do think it's quite good that he's focused on construction, because in the grand scheme of things, who gives a shit? Look at us, find in the light. There it is. We're in this blunk, and then find the light. Let's see what we think about the next one. Up next. We have Fox News reacting to the Democratic Party's strategy of being hot. In a generation we have gone from, which politician do you want to have a beer with to which politician do you want to hook up with? This just shows the vacuosness of social media culture, and the Democrats using it shows the vacuosness of their policies. And then when you dig deeper into these policies, free is not free, free is tough. So I think there's a deeper meaning. Socialism notwithstanding, I'm told mom Donnie is really good looking in person, Emily. I never listened to Hassan Piker until this week, and I logged on, and I listened to one of his shows, and he's like, everyone's so upset that Francesca hung lost. Oh no, she got very close to winning. We should all be celebrating because we're getting closer and closer and closer. And that's what they're doing. Republicans need to take a page out of their book and go younger and do what they're doing. Get all over TikTok. Get all over social media because these young people believe when you tell them we're going to pay for everything in your life, they think, oh, that's wonderful. We can do that. They're not educated enough to know that socialism doesn't work. We run out of money. I do think actually one of the problems the Republican Party has had of late is their politicians going younger. It seems to be a big issue over there actually. If you follow the news completely. In the middle there, you're kind of lamenting the vanity of our society while wearing like layers of kicked-on makeup never before seen. The hit kind of didn't really land for me that they were upset, I guess, that what Abdul has arms and a Barack Obama war to ensoot for some reason was in the picture. And Jon Ossof has a jawline. I'm like, they're mad about that. It's unclear why that they're mad about it. But so something socialism, I don't know. I think that they've had tighter hits. I think they've had tighter hits. They don't really know why they're mad at it. Also, the idea that is a new thing is very funny. It's like, I'm sorry.
I just feel like one of the things, you know, you go through that you learned about Kennedy debating Nixon and how handsome he was and how Camelot was about how beautiful and young the Kennedys were and everything that came from that Bill Clinton was seen as quite attractive and a sex symbol in his day in ways that were also pretty gross as well. But the Fox News set has become, because we have Fox News on a lot and when news on television was first figuring out what it was supposed to be, right? Like it was people in desks in like a simulated version of either a newsroom or an office. You'd have clocks on the wall of your newsroom because that were on television because you were kind of following the news and it was time-sense in London, Beijing, yeah. And it was the international kind of, we're in the bureau. This is where news is being made. A lot of newscasts had the actual people doing the work behind them. That's still the case in some channels and it was I think quite annoying to be working at those desks because you were on television quite a lot. Now the Fox News set is this hyper-real glass future cube that is totally divorced from any kind of real room, right? Like there's no sense in what you're in an actual human space and the people in those rooms are not actual kind of, they're not meant to look like normal human beings. They're kind of a specific color of painted on beige blistering white smiles. All of the men and women died hair, bright colors, things flashing behind them. It's this like kind of insane, like super-saturated TV world that they want us all to be living in all the time. And while there they're complaining that the Democrats are too hot. Yeah. And then the Democrats are too hot. I will say, I think probably it's, I think it's good that our candidates are kind of younger than those that were in the silent generation and the boomers. And that allows people to consider them conventionally attractive because they're a little bit younger. I do think we don't really have any evidence to suggest that below a certain level of age and above a lower threshold of ugliness, there really is that much of a benefit. But I'm happy to have people that are on the spectrum of somewhere between, say, John Assoff and Diane Feinstein, right? Yeah. Same. I think that's good. I think that's good. I mean, I just actually was pretty alarmed to look at a study recently where there's certain elements of your brain power that starts to decline at 44. I'm not going to say what my age is. That's something that I'm looking into. So, you know, I mean, I think having younger people there is good. And the nicest thing you could say about the Democrats and responses that clip is it means they're not really given the Republicans a lot of openings like they used to. I mean, the demo for a little while Democrats were throwing some slow pitched softballs across the plate at Fox. And if Fox is really reaching here to be like, they're hot. Cut our reminds me back when I was a Republican on the McCain campaign in '08 when they launched the celebrity ad. Obama is such a celebrity. He gets cheered all over the world. And I remember seeing that ad as a young staffer on the campaign going, I don't think things are going that great for us right now. Yeah, I remember that celebrity ad. And I remember thinking, they forgot to say why that's bad. Like, it was all implied that he was a celebrity and he's getting photos taken. It's like, they never got to the part of the ad where they were like, and therefore problem. I don't, I don't think that there was a there for. I mean, I think that maybe for some voters and therefore it was like he's black. Right. Maybe there's a little bit of it in a there for like he's not serious, but it's kind of like Obama went to Columbia. You know, I mean, like this is what is this? Yeah, there's terrible. So anyway, I think there's some parallels. Yeah, yeah, I agree. It's also Democrats won that year's article. Yeah, I do think we ended up you can add if I remember quite some actually more than you can get out if I remember. The it's also it's the end of it's, you know, we're in work towards the end of August and they're struggling to find stories because there's only so many weeks they can drag out an interview with a DSA person saying something dumb or another round of the hub, Hassan Piker discourse guy sure. We had it into the WNBA playoffs. So that's going to provide some stuff. Even Jesse Waters is struggling, kind of like mustard enthusiasm for like the latest round of right wing fake outrage. So that that tells me around. I really enjoyed watching Laura Ingram and her gay sidekick do like review a foul call at a WNBA game. Like, I don't know. That looked like a flagrant to me. Laura, like these guys. Pots of America breaking news is brought to you by Zip Recruiter. With everyday interactions becoming increasingly impersonal. Someone going just one extra step can be huge. John also set off quite the media firestorm when he made reference to Trump traveling with Natalie. He said no more than that, but it was enough to get people talking based on the reporting in the Maggie Haberman Jonathan Swan book and in the less reliable but still extant Michael Wolf book about the weird infatuation devotion of Trump's aid Natalie Harp. This has led to a Republican pearl clutching of monumental scale. Here we have Scott Jennings. He took an unknown presidential aid. She's not elected anything. She's not a household name. She's not a public figure. And he basically communicated that the only reason she has her job in the White House is because, hey, that's what Republican women are good for, right? Wink, wink, wink. That's how they get their jobs and politics. I think he's a disgusting coward because you're intimations what you think he happened. Go ahead. You heard the crowd. They were in their clapping like seals. Now the party of women likes to tell us that, you know, we're here for women's rights and we're going to promote women. And then you've got one of their leading candidates for president out dragging an unknown woman who's gone off to serve her government through the mud insinuating that the only possible reason she could have a job in politics is because she's a concubine for a politician. It's disgusting. He went on MS now and got asked about it and he wouldn't defend it. He wouldn't defend it. He was a coward for not defending it. He's willing to do it in a scripted rally, but he's not willing to defend it after the fact. It's despicable. Ashley, I mean, just all this sort of fake outrage, just really in fear. It's not fake. It is. I mean, especially when the president calls in my mouth, it's not fake. She's not putting words in all the fake outrage. Hold on a second. Yeah. Wow. We could have gone on for more. He's been crying on CNN for hours. Unbelievable. I actually genuinely don't know what would be more embarrassing. If he is sincerely outraged or pretending to be outraged in this manner, I actually genuinely can't tell what would be a sadder state of affairs for that man. Yeah. I mean, he almost broke out in the tears on a different clip that I saw listing, like threatening to list John off. So I was female staffers. Yeah. That was coming back. He's still mad. He wants to list all of John off. So I was female staffers, all of whom I think would be completely thrilled to be. Yeah. Of course, they're proud. Of course, of course they are. Nobody believes anything nefarious about that. And by the way, I think part of the reason this story is catching on, the creepiest part about it, even if there were like a sexual aspect would not be the sexual aspect. Like, I don't honestly, I truly, like, I don't give a fuck. And like, I don't think that what that's what makes this interesting. And I really don't, I mean, maybe people are enjoying the kind of whatever, the insinuation of it. But on some level, we all know that that is like assuming that that's not what's going on here. It's so fucking weird. Anyway. Yeah. She wrote them. I want to bring you joy to feel like we can get through a day without ever having to talk work. We talk about everything and nothing. DeLon, you never write me notes like this. Hey, DeLon, why don't you don't write me notes like this at all? You never do. You never say anything like that to me. You never show me this kind of respect. Natalie wrote a note to Trump that said something like, I want to know, I want you to tell me, I never want to fail you. I never want to make a mistake. DeLon, you should learn from Natalie. You're all that matters to me. You're, yeah, you never say I'm the only thing that matters to you. You never say that. I don't even think you feel it. I think that I think I'm not the only thing that matters to you. DeLon, and that is upsetting to me. I am upset. The Natalie thing is so weird. Like, you could literally tell me anything. Like, you could tell me that she collects his dry skin and keeps it inside her.
you could tell, if I read a story that was like, "Natalie during the summer has been sleeping "underneath Barron's bed to stay close to the Trumpian scent." There's literally no, the whole thing is so fucking strange. And every new thing that comes out, she jumped in the trunk of the car because she had to be next to him. She came out of nowhere. It's extremely bizarre. We shout a missile into a girl's school killing over a hundred young girls. And Scott Jennings is like, "You know, shit happens." All right, like shit happens. You miss a few shots sometimes and you take out 150 girls. You know, it's like we, you ask 'em about a story. It's like we have a pregnant woman in an internment camp who can't get access to medical care who did nothing wrong, has no criminal history. It's got, it's like, well, you know, it's part of the mass deportation program. Like that, like shit happens, you know? But it's like, well, but Natalie's, Natalie's integrity might have been impugned, maybe. And Scott Jennings is having a hissy fit on television. He's never been more upset on behalf of a woman. He has white nighting. - How dare a Democrat insinuate something about a woman in politics? I would never support someone who spread rumors and gossip and lied about women in politics. For example, I would never support someone who would say all kinds of disgusting things about Kamala Harris and her career. I would never make any kind of insult directed at say the wife of Ted Cruz, for example. I would never support someone who would do those kinds of things. And so the idea that we're gonna stand by and let John Ausef do this, why it's almost as if I'd have to pretend Donald Trump doesn't exist in order to say these things. The other, the other, have you seen this defense too where they're like you liberal ghouls? She's indebted to Trump because of the right to try law, he signed because she believes that law saved her life. But that's not true. - She might believe it, it's not true. - But here's the thing, like this is where it's like, oh, we're just in crazyville. Because she has to know it's not true. Because she knows she got the treatment an FDA approved drug before Trump signed the law. So you go look at the 2020 convention. She speaks at the 2020 convention. It's two years after she received this treatment. She got that treatment months before he ever even signed the law. By the way, even that law doesn't apply to the treatment she got. Did she not know it then? Was she confused? Is she lying? Either way, it's like either she knows that's not why. In which case, why is she obsessed with Donald Trump? Or she doesn't, in which case, what the fuck is going on here? Why does this person have come to believe a story she wanted to be treated? The whole thing is so fucking weird. - How dare you, John? How dare you impure the integrity of this private citizen that spends every waking hour with the president of the United States paid for by your tax day or pay your dollars? How dare you impure her integrity like that? Suggest she might be telling a lie and be not not know the truth. Someone who the Secret Service said they were alarmed by, according to Maggie Heyperman and Jonathan Swan. In the Michael Wolf book, I think it goes further. Suggest she might be a danger to Trump or herself. Though, again, I find Michael Wolf to be a person of deeply, deeply unreliable character. - Hill repute. - But what are we doing here? - I think what you're doing, John, is betraying the deep misogyny inside the Democratic Party establishment. And I gotta tell you, it is fucking disgusting. Okay. - Sorry. - We can, we, me as a former Republican, let me tell you, we can fucking grab women by the pussy. We can fucking take them out. - Wow. - The amiss aisle. That's all because we appreciate them and honor them so much. Okay, that's because we recognize how important they are to society. Okay, you, you people are disgusting. You liberals, to suggest that Natalie Hart, who's in Donald Trump's trunk, could possibly have some kind of strange, concubine relationship with him. It's despicable. You hate women. - I can't believe we're still doing this, like 10 years in. But it's just like, the idea that Scott Jennings can actually with a straight face say these things. - The balls, it's on the sopranos. The fucking balls on you. The, it's just like, hey man, he was like, like, what do you say to young women working in politics? It's like, here's what I would say to everybody. Donald Trump is a disgusting, you know, shame that will carry for the next several centuries and anyone who works with him, anyone who work for him, man or woman is doing something shameful and despicable. You're all part of something evil and terrible. The men and the women alike, and it attracts some depraved, strange, fucked up, broken, talentless hacks. And you end up with people sleeping at the bedminster, fucking locker room or totally subverting everything they've ever said in their lives to pretend they agree with everything he's saying and a whole host of other moral and sort of a psychological depravities to boot. And no one should work for Donald Trump and whether or not they are also fucking him, I honestly couldn't care less. - I'll be about to die, John. - Thanks. And finally, here's Fox News. Once again, reacting to Zera Mamdani, speaking in multiple languages to remote his Broadway lottery program. - The comedy is just found the Rosetta Stone. - Mamdani, speaking the language of the revolution, Mandarin Chinese. And just like the chairman, he's sending in the red guards to purge the productive class. - Leave it to a socialist lord to push a lottery for theater tickets. But then to make sure that all the new New Yorkers could understand his theater pitch, he delivered it in Bengali, Spanish, and Chinese. Visiten este sitio web para saber como participar en el sorteo hasta el lunes. (laughing) - Pretty good. That's pretty good. That's actually, he actually has good access. - How the fuck do you know, Laura Ingram? What do you know about a good Bengali accent? Give me a break. - The aforementioned gay sidekick, I didn't even know that he was gonna make it appear. - I know there he was. There he was. There he was, lamenting the theater ticket lottery. The Zoran likeability factors off the charts. - It's incredible. - And I guess you can tie it to the other thing about hot Democrats, it just, it matters, you know? People want to have their leaders, have a cheer about them, have a warmth, and offer these, like, it's like, Laura Ingram. I can imagine how much kind of power and risk Zoran has to have to be able to break Laura Ingram, like, Laura Ingram's producers, like, we're gonna do an outrage segment today on the Chinese. Jesse did it last night, did well, got good engagement, and Laura watched and she's like, he's pretty good. Actually, and he broke the ice queen, even. - He does two things at once, which are remarkable. It's not even remarkable for a politician. It's remarkable for a person doing any kind of performance or work, it would be true of an athlete too. Actually, does remind me of an athlete, which is, when you see him speak in all those languages, he makes it look effortless, but you also know how hard he worked to make sure he was getting it right. In the same way that when you see a great athlete or a great singer perform, and they make it seem so natural, but you know how much training went into it. I do think that's part of what makes him so charming. He looks like he's loving what he's doing, but you also know how hard he's working. You see the video he put out of him wearing a bic helmet, and how he had done a video on a bike without a bic helmet. And then he showed all the different people saying, "Where a helmet, where a helmet, where a helmet?" And so they did a video of him opening up a helmet, putting the helmet on, saying that he's listening and learning. It's a just small thing, but what is that? First of all, it's showing him being responsive. It's showing him doing the work of whatever's going on. He's also keeping an eye on what people are saying. He's like listening to people as he's going. And he's just reacting and active and thinking about life. How funny would a benefit if they did that video and he opened the box and then it turned out the helmet was too small? And then he put it back in and it was like, actually, I got to get a new helmet tomorrow. - That's okay, I'm bad. - Well, we'll take care of this. (laughing) - That would be the car that I'm going to ask for. - He's good, man. We need, there's this national review article that I stuck in my car. Where it is Ron DeSantis go to get his apology. I do think there should be some, maybe this is probably your guy's job really over a crooked. Like a review of the Zoran catastrophizing. Maybe it's a one year anniversary, but things are going pretty good. - Yeah, they're mad about the Piotta Territax. They're mad about the Piotta Territax. Well, the other thing too is, you know, it just like speaks to his strength as a politician and the credibility he's built, right? You see all these Democrats sort of, or a democratic socialist sort of dancing around their comments from previous from 2020 and kind of whether to disavow or kind of
Kind of disavowing things they said in the past that he's asked is Wilk one crazy and he's like thank you for a question I love the cops And he like show he's like he made a political decision, which was in order to have credibility across a broad range of issues I need to show the New Yorkers that are worried about public safety that I'm against defunding the police And I'm in a back-to-current police commissioner. We're gonna make reforms. We're gonna talk about community policing and all kinds of ways in Which the police have to work better, but people are gonna know I have I'm gonna support having policing And by the same token he built off all this credibility in the campaign by defeating Andrew Cuomo and sticking to his guns on a number of policies That he has the credibility with the left to do that work on the police and that gives it like it's a virtuous cycle where credibility with one group It doesn't hurt him with the New Yorkers who are maybe more suspicious It actually helps him figure out the ways he needs to maneuver. He's like doing good old-fashioned fucking politics It's impressive. It's impressive. The parents night out video he did the other day Which looks really cool. It's like, you know, you can drop your kids off and parents can you have a date night? Yeah, people are mad about that. That's the four hours of socialist babysitting. Is that what it was? Yeah, four hours of socialist babysitting. What's wrong with that? What are people upset about? What were people upset about? I'm desperate for babysitters. Okay. No, the hours that I'm looking for babysitters are probably not what Zoraan was offering But uh, you know, we'll take anything. You mean later or earlier? Later. Later. Later. I'm on different hours than you love it. You know, why that gets you're on the same hours You're just playing video games, but I'm still I'm still kind of outcarousing the town It's funny because we're worrying about our brains Slowly losing their plasticity and their holders, but we're just reacting to it in different ways, you know Yeah, what a journey and I'll tell you something you know who Both makes it look effortless, but you know it's putting in the hours by it's why it's Tim Miller At the bulwark. Thank you the greatest ever play the game. It's all about love of the game here John all about love of the game All right, Tim. What a blast. Love you John. We'll see you soon. Love you too Tim. See you soon
