Floyd Mayweather Reveals How $550 MILLION Was Stolen From Him | PBD Podcast #876
1h 14m 21s
Floyd Mayweather shares his journey from poverty to global boxing prominence, emphasizing self-ownership, financial discipline, and mental resilience as cornerstones of his success. He made a bold move by paying $750,000 to become his own promoter, a decision driven by a belief in independence and freedom from control. Despite facing repeated financial betrayals—allegedly losing $550 million to associates—Mayweather remains financially secure, attributing his stability to disciplined saving and a mindset of continuous self-improvement. He credits his father’s influence and early life struggles with shaping his work ethic and values. In business, he diversified into real estate, now his primary income stream, while maintaining a focus on personal integrity. Mayweather highlights the importance of mental toughness, preparation, and self-belief in both boxing and life, crediting his success to hard work, discipline, and a refusal to be defined by external pressure. He also expresses deep pride in his family, particularly his young grandson, whom he sees as the next potential successor to his legacy. Ultimately, his story is one of resilience, authenticity, and a commitment to living life on one’s own terms—free from manipulation, jealousy, or financial exploitation.
fuck what you guys think about i'm gonna live my life the way i want to live
this guy changed the game in his business
pound for pound the greatest boxer of all time please stand up and give it up to the one and only
so 550 million stolen from yes and i still live a great life
was there anybody who in the middle of the fight you're like all right this thing is a little bit
close i better make some adjustments no every everybody easy i'm made well they're best easy
tell me if these stories are true or not or if these are that's unbelievable floyd to say that
yes wait wait wait wait wait you mean the guy that took my whole swag and took it over there
to the ufc if nothing can humble a person boxing can humble you one thing everybody know when they
face me
i ain't gotta worry about you you gotta worry about me
hey everyone how y'all doing today
yes how's it feel being here it feels great just to wake up and see another day is truly a blessing
so every day we wake up we got a choice and a chance to do it and we're going to do it
it's a life i love it so but when you come here do you do you is this like a special place i think
you are 15 and 0 here right out of your 50 fights 15 of them were here in this arena right here i
believe if i'm not mistaken 15 and 0 15 and 0 yes some of the biggest fights ever were here
you and pakia you and oscar you and i think kodo i think you and uh am i saying the correct ortiz
a lot of break a lot of record-breaking fights were held in in this arena and out of
the 10 biggest fights in history six fights was floyd mayweather fights added the 10 biggest
fights in history in history as you yes but i couldn't do it without the fans and the people
i love it that's amazing and and so floyd your your story there's so many different angles i
want to go on you know i had a short time to prepare for it but i know your story i know
what you've done. So I've been looking forward to this for a while. So I think the biggest thing
when I think about, you know, we got to go through business, your boxing career, family,
other things that you've been doing. Maybe let's start off with the first thing here.
One day, you know, you come out and you buy out your contract. Yes. Something that's never been
done before. You come out and you pay $750 to decide to own your own thing. And you were always
calling everybody. You would say, you go talk to your agent. You go talk to your manager. You go
talk to Aram. You go talk to this. I don't need to talk to anybody. What got you to make that
business decision? Well, you know, each and every day, you know, when I was in the sport of boxing,
you know, I would take my time and study not just what was going on inside the ring, but economics
far as outside the ring. Like, well, who's getting the extra money for the merchandise? And who's
getting all the money for the merchandise? And so, eventually, one thing led to another. And I told the promoter, I said, let's become
partners. He said, no. So, finally, when I had the chance to become my own boss,
they had me in a headlock. Then I said, what would it take for me to become my own boss
and let me become my own promoter? And they said, $750,000. That's the best $750,000 I've ever spent.
That's it?
That was it.
Why did they only. I would have never given you up for only $700,000.
Well, they didn't own me now. You know, this is. But could they have said $750,000?
No one owns no one. They had me in a contract, and my contract had came to an end, but they still had
options on me. So, I took it upon myself, wrote the check for $750,000. And when I left the company,
in three fights, I think McGregor. Pacquiao and Canelo, I made $750 million.
Okay. So, let me flip it on you. Now that you're in the business of having fighters,
if you were on the other side, and one of the guys came up to you offering $750,000,
and that guy's name is Floyd Mayweather, would you have taken his check?
I'll let him loose. I don't want to hold nobody hostage. I won't. I truly believe in letting
people go out there, explore the world, so they can accomplish and do the things that they want
to do. If you want to be free, I mean, I can have two or three hundred fighters. If they all want
to leave, let them leave, because I know how to fish, and I know how to climb.
Got it. So, your linchpin would be, you want to go work with somebody else? Good luck. I know
what I'm capable of. Don't go anywhere you want to go to. I'm not worried about it. That's the
mindset for you. My mindset is, if you believe in something, go for it.
If you believe that you can be better somewhere else, or you can accomplish more being by yourself
or being independent, go for it. People would always criticize you, saying,
you know, he's not that smart. He's not this. He's not that. You would hear the people that
would say in the marketplace, but there's no way in the world somebody makes a business decision
like this, and they don't know what they're doing. Was somebody in your ear? Was somebody
mentoring you? Was it truly your own decision? Well, a lot of times what these people do,
they're not doing it. They're not doing it. They tend to hear certain stories. Like as of lately, we have con artists and thieves in all
type of business. Of course. That comes with the territory. Now, have I dealt with that throughout
my career? Absolutely. But remember, I always tell people the best thing about myself and the
best thing about my life is I was born poor. I was born broke. So I was able to work myself
from nothing to something. So if I go all the way to the top, if I go all the way to the top,
and once you go to the top, I can go all the way to the bottom, but I can go back to the top. You
know why? Because I started at the bottom and I know how to climb. Got it. So as long as I know
how to climb, I will always be okay. So then let me ask a question for you. To increase your
identity, did you ever flirt with the idea of being a little bit reckless with your money
because you're like, I don't mind going to the bottom because I've been there before? Or did
you make a new floor?
They're like, I will never drop below this number.
Well, life is really short. A lot of times we think life is long. Life is really short. And
we can never tell no one how to live life. We live life the way we want to live it. And so
I can be here today and gone tomorrow. But one thing I can say, I live my life the way I wanted
to live it. So do I like to have fun, you know, with my funds when I make money?
Of course. But I also make my money work for me. So, you know, things happen, shit happens. I like
to have fun and live life.
Out of the $1.4 billion that you made in boxing, $750 million in three fights that you've had,
right?
Yes.
What is the most money you've made out of boxing on a business deal?
Well, you know, I was working at one particular time. I was in real estate doing the skyscrapers.
After the skyscrapers, then eventually I moved over to apartments. So right now I'm working,
we're doing some big deals in real estate. So mainly right now, the main income is real estate.
Today?
Today.
That's the main income that you have?
Yes.
Okay. And you know, when you get the money that comes to you in a big way, what philosophies did
you have for you not to lose the money that comes? What did you do? Did you say, hey,
for every $100 million that I make, I'm going to put $20.
I'm going to put 40% of it here. Did you have any of those
rules that you followed?
Well, my rule for everyone in this room is always to put half up, no matter what. Always
put half up. So if it's $100, put $50 up. If it's $200, put $100 up. You always have
to save money for a rainy day.
Got it. So that was the philosophy going in. Going back, again, I want to ask the question
one more time.
Okay.
When you did that deal, the $70,000?
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Was there anybody you'll give credit to that said, hey, Floyd, try to get out of contract
by asking for this? Was there anyone that gave you a hint or a tip, or was it all you?
Well, I always try to surround myself with smart people. You don't want to be the only
smart person on your team.
Fully.
You have to surround yourself with people that's smarter than you. And that's what I
did throughout my career.
Was there somebody in that moment that gave you a tip?
Anyone that gave you and said, maybe this is a good idea?
They told me how to move to make it happen.
Was it a lawyer? Was it a person in the sporting game? Was it somebody outside of it?
It was a guy who was sort of like a father figure, but he stole $350 million from me.
Holy shit.
So that's why I didn't even want to speak his name.
I got it. So he told you to go by $750, but he got $350 out of you.
No, he told me to go right to shit.
No, it was my idea to be free.
Sure.
He connected with me because he knew I was the face of boxing, and he knew if he played chess like I play chess.
in life, meaning that if, if I'm able to get a Floyd Mayweather, then I'm able to get
two or 300 other fighters because he's a face of boxing. If he speak about me, other fighters
will follow. So eventually, um, it was my idea to become free. Um, I paid the seven 50. I became
free. He was helping me. At least I thought he was helping me. At least I thought he was,
was a frame. Eventually, you know, um, we started looking at the paperwork years later,
and then we come to find out 350 million was stolen. Did you ever get that money back from
him? Um, we, we in litigation right now, right now, right now, we still in litigation right now
about the money. Is that the thing that I saw at 164 million right now? Is that part of it?
Or that's different? Which one? The 164 million, 164 million. Now that's the same guy. Now,
now with the, we don't want the 200 million. Now it's a guy who was,
sitting next to me, acting like he was a friend, helping me clean up business.
And he stole 200 million. So this is a complete different guy. Yeah, this is a completely
different guy. So 550 million stolen from me. Yes. And I still live a great life.
Okay. So why do you think there's a pattern of so many great boxers having people that steal
money from them? You hear these stories from a lot of different people. Why do you think that
happens? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
It's no different from the Bernie Madoff story. At this level is, is totally different. It's not
like, like what you think, like with the 350 million, it's not like no one went to me and
took 350 million or what happened was Showtime. I've done a deal with Showtime. Yep. Money on
the back end supposedly came to Mayweather promotions. Supposedly came exactly to Floyd
Mayweather and they sent it to someone else account. And they sent it to someone else account.
And that's what happened. So Floyd, I'm looking at you. You seem very happy. Yes. You seem at
peace. Yes. You seem grateful. Yes. Freaking beautiful to see that. Yes. How do you tell
apart now and, and filter people out for not coming in because you've seen people take
advantage of you? What is your process now? My main thing right now is trust, but verify
trust, but verify. How do you verify? I mean, you, you, a lot of times you can look over paperwork,
but you can have the best lawyers. Things happen in life. We live, we learn, we keep moving. I'm a
climber. I'm a fighter. I've been a fighter since birth. So I will always stay on top.
Any, any plans? Is that, is that Paki a fight going to happen? The, the, the fight that you
guys are flirting with? Well, December, you know, December we got, uh, uh, Mayweather,
Mike Tyson exhibition. We, you know, that's in December. And I think, uh, Paki out Mayweather
would be somewhere in, um, 20, uh, 2027. So you think it's going to happen? Yes. Yes. You know,
we already talked about it, you know, um, for that fight, I'll be guaranteed 110 million. So,
you know, we'd be okay. What's he going to get? Is it a decent number he's getting
Manny? Well, the reason why the fight hasn't happened because the deals are not as of lately,
I know you guys kept hearing, well, why this fight is not happening. So let me kind of explain.
It was a guy, the same guy that stole the 200 million. He was in the middle of, uh, trying to
defraud, uh, committing fraud against numerous people. I should say. And, um, we was going to
fight on Netflix and with the deal, they tried to offer me as well as Pacquiao, uh, the same amount
of money. And so I said, okay, on the first, on the first Pacquiao fight, I was guaranteed 101
million. He was guaranteed, uh, he was guaranteed 25.
So we come back and do the rematch this time. And they try to give both of us, uh, 27 and a half
million. I said, well, he lose and he get the exact same much as I get. So absolutely not. So
I said, go back to the drawing board, get your numbers, right. And when y'all got your numbers,
right, then come talk to me. We taught you how to negotiate for you're very good. Negotiate.
How did that happen? Things happen. I mean, life experiences, you live, you learn, and that's how
it is.
So it's just through experience. You became a bad, or if I was like, if I was friends with you at 14
years old. Yes. Okay. And I know you're boxing at 14 years old. Were you still a very strong
personality? Yes. Just as much as you are today. Well, we all educated different. Some of us are
educated in school and some of, some of us are educated in life. I'm educated in life. I know
how to survive. Yeah. That's, that's a, that's a complete different kind of training that you
can't get from school. And you're going to get it from streets that,
uh, you're going through. I want to show a video to you. I want to show a video. I want to get your
thoughts on this. So if you can pull this video up, I'm curious to know how you're going to react
to this. This is a video of you. If you guys can pull it up in the back, Kelly, let me know if you
have the video or not. Humberto, let me know if you guys have sent it to them or not. Okay. Right.
I want you to watch this video. Pause it, please. Pause it first. When you look at total. Pause,
pause, pause. Okay. You know what video this is? Yes. Okay. So if you, if you want to let
them know what video this is. Okay. And then we can get into it because I want to ask you about
this. Okay. So 30 years ago, I went to the Olympic games in Atlanta, Georgia. I represented
the red, white, and blue, my country that I love so much. And, um, as you can see, um, the woman,
not right behind me, but the third, the other woman right there,
is my mother. And people don't really know my story. You know, I come from seven of us in a
one bedroom with no light, no heat. And I beat all odds to get to where I got to. So my mother was on
drugs. My dad went to prison and, um, it was always one of my goals since, since I watched the Olympic
games in 1984. I think I seen Mary Lou Retton. She was a gymnast. I seen Mary Lou Retton competing
in the Olympic games.
And different people competing in Olympic games. And it was always one of my goals was to go to
the Olympic games. And, um, I was able to compete in the 1996 Olympic games. And right there, um,
that night I fought, I was 19 years old and I fought against the, um, the amateur world champion,
Serafim Todorov. He's from Bulgaria. And, um, I know I really beat him. I beat him. Uh, that
was in the semifinals in the Olympics. And, um, I ended up receiving a bronze, receiving a bronze
medal and, um, I didn't win. So, um, my tears right there, I was hurt because I felt, I felt
like I let my mother down. I let, I let my country down. I let my father down, but things happen and
you live and you learn. And actually that was the best day of my life because I knew I didn't want
that feeling anymore. So I went out there and turned professional. And now today I'm 50 years old.
I'm a D and O.
By the way, I can't tell you how many times I've watched this video a hundred plus times. And I
can't tell you how many times I've shown this video to people that had a loss that they didn't
think it was fair because of how he reacted. I just want you to watch this and feel the sheer
emotions of a 19 year old Floyd Mayweather. Watch this clip. Go for it.
Now, when you look at Totorov, a three-time world champion, do you feel like he got
some consideration from the judges?
I understand how emotional you are right now, Floyd, with your family.
How do you react seeing it now?

Blood, sweat, and tears.
I mean, that's life.
We love.
We happy. Tears of joy.
Tears when we sad.
We live.
We learn.
We fight.
We have bad days, but we continue to move on.
What are you thinking right now?
Why?
Why are you getting the feeling you're getting right now?
Because you got to realize, with me,
everything is black and white.
No gray areas.
And I'm not a person that's full of shit.
I'm just, I'm real. I'm authentic.
So,
you know, a person like myself
and even like with me
being here in front of the world,
my thing is this.
All of us in this room want the same thing.
Whether you see Floyd Mayweather
with a diamond watch or Rolls Royce,
we all want the same thing through our life.
We want peace, happiness.
We want to love our families
and we want a comfortable life.
So that's why we make certain sacrifices
to make certain money
so we can have a comfortable life.
Money is nothing but comfort.
- Did you and him ever unite,
ever reunite since that day or no?
- Who, the guy?
- The guy, yes.
- Who I lost to?
- Yes.
- No, actually the guy that I lost to,
I think he's homeless now, actually.
From what I'm told.
So, you know, everything happens for a reason,
but I don't wish bad on no one.
So if I can find him
and give him money or give him a handout,
no problem.
- You would do it?
- Absolutely.
- How about you let me go find him
and I'll schedule the meeting.
- Find him and I'll do something for you.
- I'm gonna schedule the meeting.
- Absolutely.
- I'm gonna go find him.
Yeah, okay.
Because you know what it made me think about?
Do you remember when the whole nomas,
you know, the nomas, nomas,
the Roberto Duran?
- I'm a student.
- Of course, I know you are, so I'm saying it.
- I'm a student of boxing, of course.
- So.
- 'Cause that's Roberto Duran
and Sugar Ray Leonard's second fight.
No, Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard's first fight,
he gave Sugar Ray Leonard his first loss.
And of course, you know, I'm a fan of Sugar Ray Leonard.
He's one of the guys that paved the way for me
to be where I'm at.
And also Sugar Ray Leonard is one of the guys
that beat my father.
You know, in my father's career.
So he's a hell of a champion, a hell of a fighter.
- Yeah, and do you remember the clip
of when they got together and they reunited,
and I think Showtime or HBO did a documentary
of Sugar Ray and Duran coming together?
- Well, I think they fought three times.
- They did, they did fight three times.
But many, many years later, when it's like,
hey, did you really do the nomas,
the visiting of each other?
I don't know if you've seen that or not.
- I didn't see it.
- It's a very good moment.
I don't have it here with me,
but I'll send it to you to look at.
- It's fascinating to see you and him reuniting
from 19 years old 'til today
to see what that conversation will be like.
- Yes, you know, just being able to,
but I think, I think it's truly unbelievable.
Even like with my career, for me,
there's no other fighter that's my age.
'Cause I never really took no abuse in the sport
because the first thing my father taught me was,
the less you get hit, the longer you able to last.
And that's whatever you do, that's like in business.
You try to take less hits, you know,
you try to take as many less, as many,
you don't want to take that many losses.
You always want to win.
So my dad taught me about defense,
taught me about being smart, being intelligent,
and I applied it.
And in boxing, so that's why I'm still able,
at my age, in a couple months I'll be, what, 50 years old?
And I'm still able to go out and make 100 million.
- That's unbelievable, Floyd, to say that.
- Yes.
- That's unbelievable to say that.
By the way, there used to be stories
tell me if these stories are true or not,
or if these are, there was a story about,
you would go to the nightclub with your boys,
but you would never drink, you wouldn't smoke,
and you're in the back doing sit-ups at a nightclub.
Is that a true story?
- Not really sit-ups, but hanging out at the nightclub,
my team, they would drink, they would party,
they would have fun, I would party too,
but no alcohol, no drugs.
Because I just, you only have, you only have,
this is your real wealth, so take care of this.
Your body is your real wealth.
So you have to take care of, God only give you one body,
you only get one temple, take care of it.
So, a lot of times we hanging out,
and if I'm in training camp, I would run from the club.
I would run probably 67 miles from the club.
- You would run from the club?
- Yes, absolutely.
- I mean, that's crazy to just hear,
so you would go to the club, you would party,
but you're running home?
- Yes.
- How did temptation--
- Temptation of drugs and alcohol not get you?
How did you say no?
It's not an easy thing that you're in that environment,
it's, how do you say no?
- My dad was a, of course, I seen my mother on drugs,
I seen my mother doing drugs.
My dad was a drug dealer because his career didn't go good.
So, once I seen those certain things,
I said, you know what, you know, that's not for me.
So, I took it upon myself not to do drugs, not to drink.
I was always on my mother about, I was on,
I was always on her case about smoking and drinking.
So, I didn't want to be a hypocrite.
So, I said, I'm not going to do it.
- So, then what do you do?
That's major respect, by the way, it's not easy to do.
So, Floyd, when you all of a sudden are, you know,
one of the most famous people in the world,
everybody wants to be around you, you know,
the hip hop folks show up, everybody else shows up,
you know, you're partying with all these guys, you know,
some, you know, people that may have bad habits.
Zero temptation?
Nothing?
- Well, I have to look at my life, and look what I got.
And I say to myself, well, Floyd,
how did you get to where you got to?
Was you smoking, was you drinking to get there?
Or you was living a clean life, being thankful,
saying your prayers, working hard, dedicating yourself,
and God was answering your prayers?
When God was answering my prayers,
I asked for a lot of things, and I said, God,
please, help me get to the Olympics,
help my mother get off drugs, and I'll live,
and I will continue to obey you, and help me,
help my family become great, and I'll follow you,
and that's what happened.
Wow.
- That's amazing.
Did you, I don't know if you're following,
are you following the Kifidi trial with Tupac?
Are you following any of that stuff
on what's going on right now?
- I don't really be on social media, because you only got 24,
24 hours in a day.
You only got 24 hours.
Eight hours we sleep.
And a lot of people that work a nine to five,
that's another eight hours.
So I can't spend it with another eight hours on social media.
So I'm out there building generational wealth.
- Respect.
Did you ever hang out with Tupac?
Or was Tupac, did you guys ever spend time together?
- I met Tupac in 1993.
I was in Indianapolis Black Expo in Indiana, actually.
- '93, so '93, has he, yeah, '93, Tupac is Tupac.
- Yes, Tupac, actually, Tupac, the day he got killed,
he was, I was in this arena, and he was in this arena,
'cause Mike Tyson was fighting in this arena,
actually, right here.
And I was, I was supposed to go to the after party
at Shiv Night Club, which is on Flamingo.
- You're supposed to go to the after party?
- Yes.
- Wow.
- You know, after the fight, it's always after party.
- Of course, you gotta, most definitely.
And so, interesting, because they just came out
with a story saying the guy that killed Tupac
is a guy named Keefy D, and then the story,
anyways, this is an area that I follow a lot of these things.
I thought maybe there was a story with you and Tupac.
Did you listen to his music?
Were you a fan of his music?
- He was one of the best, one of the best.
- What do you listen to when you're training?
When you're training, you're getting ready for a fight,
what are you listening to?
- Well, a lot of times when you see me
jogging with my headphones on, I prefer to listen to more.
More R&B music, yes, more relaxing music,
but now I like to listen to Afrobeats and Afro House.
- Good taste, okay, any specific, any specific thing?
- Black Coffee.
- Okay.
- He's a great, he's one of the best DJs.
- How about R&B, what were you listening to with R&B?
- R&B, a little bit of everybody.
- Cool, Brian McKnight, Keith Sweatlight, who were?
I like Brian McKnight. I like his sweater.
mary jay um even though they're gonna they don't like r kelly i still like r kelly i like a lot
of artists yeah you can't listen one thing about r kelly's music it's like so many of them that
you know it's timeless even though he i mean it is what it is but did you ever meet him
did you ever meet him yes yes yeah he he's had a couple interviews that were uh epic epic
interviews so floyd your your career fighting hardest hitting puncher that you you walked
away you couldn't show it but you knew this hurt when they hit you who was the hardest
hitting puncher victoriano sosa a guy um victoriano sosa uh a dominican guy
now is this this guy's not a top 50 he's not a famous fighter he's not he's not but
he's not a top 50
he can hit he can hit he can hit yeah he can hit it felt very different than everybody else
marcus mcdonough marcus mcdonough hit hard but not like sosa sosa hit he hit like the baseball
player out the park maybe with floyd who'd you go up against where in the middle of the fight
you you ask yourself you said uh this person may give me the first loss i better change my uh
or anybody were in the middle of the fight you're like all right this thing is a little bit close i
better make some adjustments here because you know you know the stories where everybody says i'm
wondering what you would say about this question it's not i don't really want to say lose but i can
go back to my corner and they said well we need to pick it up a little bit we need to pick it up a
little bit so i'll pick it up anybody any specific fight no every everybody easy everybody easy i'm
mayweather i'm everybody easy
where does the confidence come from um
if if i don't believe in myself who's going to believe in me
self-preservation is a lot of land i'm the best
at what age and the reason why i'm the best because when you do your homework yep
because you you have to be a student you just have to be a
student at whatever you can't talk boxing without talking mayweather okay now
do you think that a lot of other fighters are my age and they still can go out there
and demand the money that i demand no you're one of one no one no one's ever been able to do that
okay so even at my age now i bought what we got in a few in a few months i'll be 50 years old
now you tell me another athlete that can go out there at 50 years old and say you know what
i need a hundred million every time i go out there or if i do an exhibition i need eight figures
jake paul's 32 he's saying 50 well we well the one thing about jake paul now one thing about him i
take my hat off to him but someone had to open up the floodgates for guys like jake paul
now floyd mayweather go if floyd mayweather is doing exhibitions and floyd mayweather is doing
is fighting guys like conor mcgregor where we will be crossing what we make the sport
will be crossover and make and make things like this happen you would never know nothing about
jake paul now now one thing about jake paul we we have to we have to give him his flowers
one thing about jake paul as well as logan paul they know how to hustle and i like their hustle
in the sport of boxing you can play basketball you can play baseball you can play football
you can't play boxing now jake paul was fighting you know basketball players little guys not really
good fighters when he finally fought somebody that can fight he got his jaw broken in two places
so you can't play boxing floyd there's there is a uh there is lists that they say the most
difficult sport in the world i don't know if you've ever heard of it i don't know if you've
i don't know if you guys seen this or not if you look up what is the most difficult sport in the
world boxing's always at always at the top why why is it the most difficult sport in the world

do you prepare for each fight in a different way or do you just prepare for all three of them in
case it happens well they gotta worry about me i don't have to worry about them one thing we
one thing everybody know when they face me he can fight i ain't gotta worry about you you gotta
worry about me because everybody know i can fight so the onus is on them
basically basically okay
okay so you know the the game of uh uh boxing like if you go look at a lot of people who say
the greatest ufc fighter of all time is khabib or john jones they'll give those names right
but they'll say no one was a better promoter than conor mcgregor now wait wait wait wait wait
you mean the guy that took my whole swag and took it over there to the ufc
so you're saying connor copied you and took it to ufc you tell you tell me
As soon as, as soon as Conor McGregor
record face Floyd Mayweather I mean he was big as life what do you mean I mean his career wasn't
like that before what was his biggest payday what was his biggest fight prior to that five ten
million okay so when he got me what kind of money did he make was it 200 or 150 I don't know he
probably made I think I made you made 300 I think I made about 300 uh you know I don't like to count
another man's pocket but he ate good I'm pretty sure he ate good yeah if you've made but by the
way when you that one day when you guys were promoting this fight yes I've never in my life
seen a fight like that no not a fight promotion like that that's why I had to become my own boss
but Floyd you weren't you were sitting back and letting him do his own thing was it your way of
saying this guy can do this better than me or was it like go do the show and sell the ticket what
you you didn't say a lot in that fight it was mainly him talking um what what do you mean like
mainly him talking so you're sitting there with your bag over here and your friends are over here
and Conor's going around doing his thing yeah selling it talking trash and you're just sitting
there like this not saying anything what were you thinking when you were sitting not saying
anything are you just telling yourself this guy just made me a you know this guy just got made
a ton of money the way he's promoting the fight no actually what I was saying is um
talking doesn't win fights one thing you can do he can do all that he want I know that when you
get in there with Floyd Mayweather I mean you I'm the truth when you get in there it's it's it's it's
go time so so this whole arena could be filled with Conor McGregor fans but they can't fight for
you the fans can't fight for you and as you like you see um and I think actually I think
Conor McGregor may lock up again actually yeah absolutely you and Conor may lock up again yeah
I I he didn't break his hand he broke his foot right right okay well we going from the shoulders
point that's a good point from the shoulders oh and I think that would be and by the way
is there a friendship there or is there true animosity between the two of you do you guys
have a friendship um I don't I don't I'm not really upset with anyone I mean it is what it is
I don't live with Conor McGregor and he's not my friend I don't have to see him it's just when
it's time for us to do business and lock up let's do it so it's not a friendship you guys are not
texting each other calling absolutely not that's what I'm saying so you just changed your body
just changed right now so you're not going to dinner together at Cipriani's and you know breaking
bread I mean if we got to sit down to talk for business for business sake if we have to put the
fight together by sitting down having dinner then we'll do it but all in all I can care less about
it I don't need to be friends with anyone was there anybody ever thought that you had true
animosity that you wanted to destroy them anybody no never I I mean I want to win but you can't you
can't go into boxing like that it doesn't work like tell me why because if you it just it just
this is a different this is a different boxing is a different creature you cannot do that it's
because you can't lose your emotion you can't lose control of your emotion you have to stay
calm and relax and focus at all times because anything can happen you can't go in there trying
to kill a guy you got to go in there with a game plan this is what it is how much of you learning
how to stay calm under pressure in the arena with 15 000 people around you millions watching how do
you prepare for that behind closed doors in a boxing gym where in a boxing gym we always we got
this thing that we call the dog house
that I created where every day we let people from all around the world come watch watch me train so
sometimes it's 200 people in the boxing gym watching me train so once you train around two
or three hundred people every day for 30 years you're used to it so when you're fighting when
you're in the ring it's just like you and the guy in the ring just it's just like y'all two in the
arena by yourself do you even see the audience when you're fighting no you don't see the audience I
don't see now let's see my opponent I don't even see the referee just the guy in front of me but
sometime when you were fighting the announcers were talking you were talking to them you would
go back and forth with the announcers well I was just like you know how you would do that who knows
what I'm doing you ever seen Floyd do that when he's fighting somebody he's telling the announcer
how easy the opponent is it was hilarious watching uh you know some of those fights of yours okay so
going back to Connor if if they invited you if Connor said hey Floyd let's do let's do UFC fight
would you ever do it
I don't have to I'm the a side always so you choose the grounds that's why I just want to spend
750 000 to become my own boss got it got it so you you tell everybody it's my rules this is how we
fight and it's boxing it's not my rules it's let us negotiate so that both sides are happy if that's
safe to say both sides are happy okay so if you've made 1.4 billion dollars in your career how much
money you think you've made others
I'm not sure what do you think it is what do you think that number would be because you you you
started saying we can't count no we can't count no one else's pockets we can't worry about what
nobody else getting we got to worry about what we get no I but the reason why I'm asking a question
is is to say like the impact right now right now in the audience everybody's trying to worry about
how they can how they can gain more and grow more and grow their business not about nobody else who
ain't competing against
so I can't worry about my competitor I gotta worry about Floyd right but I'm talking about like when
because you made a lot of people money Floyd you made a lot of people a lot of money you know you
you were you were one of those guys that if there was a Floyd fight like we know Cinco de Mayo you
know the things you would do the hats all of that stuff we would look forward to it every flipping
year you make the industry a lot of money is is there a Floyd Mayweather right now in boxing um
not yet but
my grandson could be the next Floyd Mayweather my grandson is boxing every day stop yes how old is he
my he's five you're not joking no I'm not joking at all so at five years old you think he has what
it takes to be like you one day my daughter makes sure her son goes to the boxing gym every day stop
he goes to school then he go to his second school for how long does he go at five years off to a
second school um a couple hours two hours
so what what do you what do you try do you train him or are you working with him or who works with
well right now I'm just letting him he want to he don't want to listen he want to do it all he want
to do is spar all he want to do is spar but I'm telling him every day you have to learn the
techniques about boxing only but all he want to do is just spar he want to box everybody in the gym
can you say that because you see something in him that you you're a member of yourself he's super
super super smart intelligent and um if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change nothing
because I won't be able to get that same grandson wow so he's that's my that's my that's my pride
and joy in life and I will always stand on this my dad is the the best man God ever blew breath into
but the best one of the best gifts God has ever given me is my grandson
what what are you most proud of right now at 49 years old what is your greatest accomplishment in
life um just being just being able to um get up and work out um being able to jog run workout play
with my grandson and just travel the world and live life
um just being free just being free yes wow being free greatest accomplishment yep five years old I
would have never guessed you're gonna say five-year-old so at five years old you're thinking
this kid can we have a we have we have kids every day in the gym that we help that we push just like
just like Floyd Mayweather if we're looking for the next Floyd Mayweather we can't start them off
at 16. you got to start them off um from the beginning the only reason why I'm where I'm at is
because my dad basically
pushed me to be a fighter at what age my whole life what age how early from what one two years
old I was in the gym every day from one two years old you're in the gym every day yes
folks we're screwing up can you imagine there's no different from if they want to whatever you
want your children to be in life you have to start them off early even if they don't want to do it
I'm glad my dad
pushed me to become a fighter I'm glad that's the best thing that's the best thing in my life that my
dad did for me that's why he's the best did he ever push you away from boxing or no no how did
he sell you how amazing the sport is he did he didn't sell it to me he just he he would go every
day he would take me with him once he take me with him eventually by the time I was 14 I was ready to
become a pro at 14 years old 14 years at 14 yes you you and him had a lot of conflicts over the
years some of them were public when you guys would you know go back and forth yes how did
you manage that how did that you know and was it your way of saying I know what I'm doing what what
the conflicts about the conflicts was my dad went to prison my dad went to prison when i was 16
when my dad came back into my life i was 21 so i had my own house my own car my own everything
and me and my dad would agree to disagree on certain things the same the same vision i had
when i was 16 is totally different from when i'm 21 i'm on my own and i already i'm already
living my life i'm already traveling the world doing certain things so i wasn't against what
my father was telling me but um we would just bump heads but at the end of the day
whatever i had to say about my dad in the past i apologize i come on record and apologize um
to the world to say i apologize my dad is the best man i've ever known
you
that's so beautiful that is so beautiful man to say something like that guys if you want to ask
questions this is the time to line up because i can go another hour if you got any questions you
want to ask this is your opportunity to be able to ask the great one any questions sean i'll come
to you first go for it so money my brother thank you brother i know my guy's name i i know my guy's
name thank you thank you man thank you for being honest transparent authentic and not allowing
people to take you out of your game and start fighting
rough and losing your senses i appreciate that personal branding is what i do that's the thing i
want to ask you about you were pretty boy floyd and your purse was a certain thing and then you
became money mayweather talk about the difference what was the difference and how did the world
respond to you and how did that affect your thinking and your purse well once i know
we got to a certain point where we did record-breaking numbers once we once we've done
record-breaking numbers now it's time to cross over and we got to change up we got to change up
the whole look we gotta change up everything and that's what we did thank you fantastic manny soto
back there money mayweather man i'm excited i gotta pee like a racehorse bro but i had to talk
to you dude you are bad you're a bad dude
wherever there's players there's always player haters like all over the place man how do you
deal with the haters like i'm there there's like little whispers i'm like man i'm gonna he's gonna
whip your ass after this little interview here you keep talking this madness i love that but how do
you deal with the haters bro like i know you get a lot of bad publicity yes come on like and don't
filter it either like tell me exactly the real deal what do you like how do you take it and how
do you develop it and how do you use it for yourself instead of against yourself um i feel
like hating comes with success i mean if i wasn't successful i'd have nothing to talk about
so that comes that comes with with your journey you know when it's all said and done
we all came here the same we may not lead the same way but we all came the same way
so we all got a story to tell we all live a certain we all live the way we want to live
and and that's life um good press bad press right about me is that literally the mindset
that's my mindset that's the mindset good press bad press right about me i'm something to talk
about yeah but does it i know it's got to affect you like on a level of one to ten what's the level
that it affects you and how did it i wouldn't if it affected me i wouldn't be 50 and oh
see that's what i'm talking about see that's what i'm talking about i'm telling if manny pacquiao won't
fight you bro i will manny soto you know i'm saying money business man come on baby yeah
okay maybe first round maddie maybe save your good looking face gary john what's happening
go for it what's on your mind how do you know all these people i know my guys i know these
are my friends these are people i do business with these are my guys go for it thank you bro
this is an honor for you to be here
pat's my high school friend and we grew up together yeah we went to high way back 15 16
years old so for you to be there with pat this is this is remarkable but tell me one thing about
your career because you admire me as an athlete being a very good at what you do is probably the
best boxer out there pound for pound and how did you pivot that one time to say now i'm going to
go into business and i'm going to be one of the best entrepreneurs because with your brands and
things that you do everything seems to be going great so how do you take that from boxing to
business well we know that i knew that i couldn't fight forever so you always got so at one
particular time boxing was my main source of income but then you gotta you gotta look you
gotta look at certain fighters you know we can't fight forever so what's going to be your next
source of income so while i was fighting i took it upon myself to start investing in real estate
while i was fighting so it wouldn't be too hard once it wouldn't be
it wouldn't be it wouldn't be too hard to transition once i'm once my career was over
so that's what i did you did a great job thank you fantastic right here actually you know let
me go is there somebody up there is there a question up there right up there go forward
hey floyd how you doing um my name is david and i just want to say you know i admire everything
you did with the sport of boxing and you know you're one of my inspirations to start training
i've been training for about a year now yes and um
i just wanted to ask you you know you mastered turning your skill into a business and you know
turning yourself into a brand you know a very successful one at that so you know for a kid
like me trying to learn business and trying to be someone in life uh what's one piece of advice
that you wish you knew at my age invest in yourself first invest in yourself first and
it can be a lot of people around you that don't believe but you have to believe first so no matter
if you feel like it's something because even if you fail failure is failure is a part of the journey
so whatever you're trying to do in life go for it yes sir thank you so much there you go buddy
right over there i got the hands up i see you all the way at the top section 20 um floyd so my name
is artemis johnson i actually met you five years ago in miami florida at matt buchanan's uh event
i stumbled on my word and i was like oh my god i'm so excited to be here and i'm so excited to be here
so hopefully i don't this time um you have a video where you say dedication hard work dedication
hard work i'm a one-man army the world can go against me i'ma still end up on top that has
motivated me and probably so many other people um uh you know when i'm working now i always listen
to that the question i was going to ask you five years ago was with your mindset how were you
able to sharpen that and you know keep that fight through fight as you were
getting to the record that you're at um because i feel like your mindset is like the the best thing
that you have with you and um i'm just curious on how you were able to develop that to get where
you're at well you have to realize just like when uh the young man was right there uh talking just
now and the other little young man was right there and people are like oh my god you're not
like yourself every day i come out my home and i'm well when i move around just move around the
world i have people like yourself that's inspired that i that i touch i touch their lives by them
seeing uh certain videos or i touch their lives about they're hearing my story those are the
people that count though because you got to realize hate and jealousy that is a
that is people that don't believe in themselves i believe in myself i believe i can do anything
there's only three ways you can learn in life hearing seeing and doing and doing meaning
meaning meaning physically hands-on so um i need people like you to to inspire me to push me
to continue to be great so i can inspire others to be great so thank you
love it
yes right there me yes ma'am thank you so much for being here from one perspective we're all
talking about boxing but is there any knockout punch you can talk about that you've learned
outside the ring that has really helped you sharpen your skills when it comes to business

Well, what we talked about there earlier in business,
what I had to learn the hard way, the trust but verify.
I had to learn that the hard way.
We're talking about $550 million.
But every day I get up.
My life is still great.
My family is healthy.
And the main thing, like I said before,
I'm going to keep climbing no matter what.
I'm in a great position.
Comfortable life.
Great life.
And like I said, when I come to places like this,
the people inspire me to be great.
You guys push me to be great.
And so I will continue to come back and give my time
and talk to the people no matter what.
Thank you.
Awesome.
Floyd, if we can talk about, if you don't,
you guys can stay here because I may come back to you on a question.
Can you tell me about the Money Team Legal Network
that you're working on right now?
What's that all about?
Okay.
So a lot of people around the world
that can't afford the right team.
When I say the team, meaning the right lawyers.
And they're put in a certain position that's not good.
So I took it upon myself and I was talking with a couple of my buddies.
One of them is James McNair and another guy by the name of Brian.
And we reached out to some attorneys.
We sat down and we talked and we came up with a game plan.
And the game plan was to start the TMT law firm
so we can help those that can't really afford the lawyers.
And we can help those that can't really afford the lawyers.
You're very patriotic.
Why do you love America?
we should all love where we were born at.
You know?
Why wouldn't I love America?
Do you think this is the greatest country in the world?
Do I think America is the greatest country in the world?
Abso-fucking-lutely.
What do you think about some of this stuff
that's going on in America right now?
You know, socialism, they want to bring socialism.
You want to bring socialism to America versus capitalism.
What do you stand with that?
You're not going to put me in the middle of that.
I ain't going to get in the middle of nobody's bullshit.
I'm not getting in the middle of that.
Absolutely not.
I'm not getting in the middle of nobody's business.
