Speaker 1Let's preview the final weekend for those still playing in daily leagues. Up next on Fantasy Baseball Today Express. Welcome in to FBT Express on Friday, September 25th. I am, for example, joined by Scott White, and here we are. We made it to the final weekend of the season. To stream or not to stream? On Friday. Here are your pitcher options. Jackson Jobe is going up against the Pirates. Andrew Alvarez is home against the Mets. Nick Lodolo at the Blue Jays. Michael McGreevy at the Brewers. Robert Gasser home against the Cardinals. Brandon Fott at the Padres. Bubba Chandler at the Tigers. Brandon Young against the Yankees. Grant Holmes at the Marlins. Hayden Wesneski and Jacob Lopez are facing each other. David Peterson at the Red Sox. Brian Baio home against the Cubs. Scott, who are your three favorites?
Speaker 4For Friday. So this is probably the most interesting day, which doesn't mean, there are better options Saturday, I guess, but the case for the three pitchers here is the most interesting. Andrew Alvarez is the obvious one going against the Mets. Last nine starts, he's been on a roll here. Last nine starts for Andrew Alvarez, 215 ERA,.97 whip, 8.8K per nine. He's a 50% ground ball rate guy, which is good. And that matchup is interesting. It's enticing enough, I think. The ones who I could see it going either way are Jackson Jobe facing the Pirates. That's not a particularly favorable matchup, but he's looked a lot better in his last two starts. I believe it's 17 strikeouts and 12-plus innings, 12 innings and change. Sliders looked better. Matchups aren't everything. I mean, Jackson Jobe's a talented pitcher, and he's shown us the extent of it, really, for the first time as a major leaguer, the last two starts. So I could see it going well. Not wild about doing it, but, you know, a lot of people like to stream a lot more than I do, especially in daily leagues. Brian Baio's the other one. Again, not a great matchup against the Cubs. But in his 13th start since returning from the minors, Brian Baio has a.228 ERA, 101 whip, 8.1K per nine, and a 59% ground ball rate. I was talking about how 50% is good. He's almost 60%. So, again, matchups aren't everything. I think those two, Jackson Jobe, Brian Baio, have to look good enough recently that, even with the bad matchup, they're probably among the better streaming options for Friday.
Speaker 1All right. I do agree with Andrew Alvarez being at the top of the list. And then Jackson Jobe and Bubba Chandler facing each other probably would be second and third on my list. Jobe has looked better as of late. Bubba Chandler at the Tiger is just not really scary. He's not really scared of the Tigers lineup. And then some names on the outside looking in I think could just be high floor, kind of boring starts, Grant Holmes and Brendan Young. On Saturday, we have Rhett Lowder at the Blue Jays. Jonah Tong is at the Nationals. Bailey Ober home against the Rangers. Davis Martin gets the Rockies in Chicago. Quinn Matthews is at the Brewers. Justin May home against the Cardinals. Griffin Jacks at the Phillies. Corbin Burns at the Padres. Ryan Johnson at the Mariners. And Jack Perkins home against the Astros. So, Griffin Jacks would
Speaker 4be the obvious choice if not for the potential of them going easy on him, the Rays, this weekend because obviously they're setting the rotation for the playoffs. It's not even clear he's going to be in the rotation for the playoffs for what it's worth because they have obviously Drew Rasmussen, Freddie Peralta. Those are probably one and two. They have Ian Seymour as an option. They have Nick Martinez, a 50. 15-game winner as an option. I don't think Martinez is as good as Griffin Jacks, but the results are what they are. Martinez, Jacks, and Ian Seymour, all three have bullpen experience. So, you know, it might depend on the matchup, which they go with, quite honestly. The point is just I don't know how easy they're going to go on Griffin Jacks. They may let him go five strong like he's been doing. But if you're scared of that possibility, I think Ryan Johnson. I think Ryan Johnson at Seattle is a good choice. He had a really good start against the Mariners two turns ago and has generally looked better since they made a change at pitching coach. He's altered his approach with that change. A good ground ball pitcher. And then the third choice would be Quinn Matthews at Milwaukee. It's a tough matchup, but Milwaukee is kind of taking it easy since they've clinched what they need to clinch. And Matthews came through with a tough start against the Nationals last time.
Speaker 1All right. Yeah, my three for Saturday would be Ryan Johnson at the Mariners. He's just pitching well, and it's a great matchup. Griffin Jacks at the Phillies, although he could be limited, even if it's just five innings. The Phillies lineup has gone completely cold. And then Quinn Matthews pitching pretty well. Brewers are much better against right-handed pitchers than they are lefties. So I think that could be a quality start for Quinn Matthews. Some other names, if you're really desperate.
Speaker 4Sorry, I said Ryan Johnson's a ground ball guy. He's not. He's a fly ball guy, but very weak contact.
Speaker 1A couple names on the outside looking in. I don't really trust them at all. But Davis Martin, great matchup against the Rockies in Chicago. And then Jonah Tong at the Nationals. He's been up and down since being recalled by the Mets. Let's take a quick break. When we return, we'll get to Sunday streamers. Speaker 4Yeah, so this is the worst day of the three, I would say. Let's go with Andre Palante. Who's let us down some recently in a tough matchup against the Brewers. But, you know, not a great day for streaming. Dean Kramer against the Rangers. It's a favorable matchup. And he's looked good recently. I just still don't trust him. Yusei Kikuchi at the Mariners would be my third choice. Kind of the same as Kramer. Some good starts recently, but I just don't put a lot of stock in. He's been around long enough, and I think we know he's not actually very good.
Speaker 1Yep. On Sunday, I would have. Dean Kramer at the top of the list, just good matchup against the Rangers. He's been pitching well. And then some other names I don't really love, but if you're desperate final day, Shane Botts at the Yankees could get a quality start. Sean Mania at the Nationals. Last start was great, but, I mean, definitely risky against the Nationals. They hit lefties well. And then Andre Palante at the Brewers. He's been a high floor option for most of the season. Scary matchup against the Brewers, but you're hoping that maybe they arrest some of their guys there in the final game of the season. Some hitting streamers for this weekend. The Astros are facing the Athletics in Sacramento, so we like hitters on both sides there. Specifically, I like the Athletics lefties. They're facing three right-handed pitchers, so Lawrence Butler and Jeff McNeil. On the Astros side, they are facing two left-handed pitchers, so I like their right-handed bats, Yiner Diaz and Cam Smith. Scott, I know you still like both Zach Geloff and Henry Bolte, who were on your sleeper hitters list for the entire week.
Speaker 4Yes, I do. I think Bolte is much more available, than Geloff, but either one with them being at home would be a great choice.
Speaker 1All right. I like some Marlins left-handed hitters. They are facing three righties this weekend, so Jacob Marcy and Griffin Conine. I do like Francisco Alvarez of the Mets. He is facing three Nationals lefties this weekend. Andrew Alvarez has pitched well, as we mentioned earlier, but Connelly Early, DJ Herz, just don't really expect much from those guys. Padres lefties, they are facing three right-handed pitchers, this weekend, Brandon Fott, Corbin Burns, and Mike Soroka. So, Jake Cronenworth and Dustin Harris. And, Scott, I know you also like Ty France this weekend. He was very high on your sleeper hitters list.
Speaker 4Yeah, no reason to overthink it. I mean, Ty France, for the year, let's see the updated numbers, he's batting 299 with an 877 OPS. He's been overlooked all year, and still favorable mashups for the Padres to close out the week. So, I think my top two for the weekend are France and Pulte, regardless of left-handed, right-handed. But these are some other good choices, sure.
Speaker 1I do like the White Sox right-handed hitters as well. They're facing the Rockies pitching staff this weekend, and they have two lefties on the schedule. So, Chase Meidroth, really strong finish here. He crushes lefties. Randall Gritchick also crushes lefties. Probably will only start the two games this weekend. And then D-backs, left-handed hitters, they are facing three. Padres, righties this weekend. So, Lars Neupahr and Pavin Smith, I think, could be in play. If you need steals in particular, Henry Bolte has seven in September. Jonah Cox also has seven. Zach Gelof, David Hamilton, Cooper Pratt, and Samad Taylor all have six steals in the month. And then Dustin Harris has five. And again, I do like Dustin Harris facing the three right-handed. No, I got that mixed up with the D-backs lefties. Dustin Harris, if you need steals. He's been hot here in September. And then if you need saves this weekend, some names under 60% rostered on CBS. Grant Taylor, Jeff Hoffman, Hogan Harris, Rico Garcia, Ryan Zephyrjohn, who actually picked up a save here for the Cubs. He has three of the last four for them, so maybe he could pick up a save. And then Ryan Watson picked up a save on Thursday for the Angels. He is closing in place of Ben Joyce, who went on the I.L. So, very deep name, but perhaps he could pick up another save. This weekend. We are going to wrap there.
