FFT Express - Beat the Waiver Wire! MUST-STASH Players Before Week 3 (09/25 Fantasy Football Podcast)

The fantasy football waiver wire is rich with opportunities, especially in quarterback and wide receiver markets. The Chicago White Sox’s playoff win adds excitement, though it’s noted as a minor point in the broader context. Key quarterback targets include James Winston, Geno Smith, and Marcus Mariota, all with favorable matchups and availability, making them ideal for desperate or shallow leagues. For running backs, Caleb Johnson stands out as a high-potential starter due to his upcoming Thursday matchup, while Montee Ball and Aaron Jones offer backup value. Wide receivers like Xavier Hutchinson and Nico Collins are viable due to injury risks and target volume, with Hutchinson especially promising against Indianapolis and Dallas. Tight end Terrence Ferguson emerges as a strong, under-rostered option if Pook remains out. DSTs are cautiously evaluated, with the Bengals showing the most consistent defensive performance. A core strategy involves monitoring injury reports, prioritizing low-availability players, and stashing depth to maximize flexibility. Players like Malik Washington and Jordan Tyson should be considered for IR spots to gain future value. This week offers a balanced mix of high-impact and high-risk picks, emphasizing smart roster management and injury awareness.

It's time to beat the waiver wire and the Colorado Rockies right now on fantasy football today. Express He's got baseball playoff fever looking good Dave the Chicago white socks have clinched the playoffs for the third time in seven years And most importantly the first time this year they have defeated the Kansas City Royals They are in a fierce battle for the A.L. Central. I don't know how many people knew this about me but I am a die hard Chicago white socks fan really don't know anything else about baseball other than the white socks They're the one pro team that I can watch and just be totally biased for be totally ignorant to everything else in the league And I'm super excited that they made the playoffs and look forward to supporting them on their playoff run all the way to the world series Okay, wonderful. The other thing you need to know about baseball is that the playoff seating is very stupid in backwards It needs to be revisited. Okay. Dave quarterbacks to pick up for week four. What are we looking at here on the waiver wire? Well, there's a quarterback that you can actually use in week three But you have to be a little bit desperate to do it and maybe he's still out there in superflex and two cubi leagues as well This would be famous James Winston of the New York Giants He's gonna be their quarterback the rest of the season 14% roster that means he's 86% available ladies and gentlemen the Titans this week He's got Arizona after that washing 10 after that and the Saints after that So this is a nice easy stretch for James Winston to get on the field and we know that he can be very boomer bust But the boom could be great. We talked about it when do we talk about on Tuesday show? He's due to have at least one 30 point game somewhere in there when will it be? Honestly, it could be this week against Tennessee So if you're inclined if you're desperate a quarterback or if you can start to quarterbacks James Winston should be on your shopping list the rest of the names aren't that bad either geno smith 14% rostered same as James He's got Detroit this week. He's at Chicago then against Cleveland So spread the news there are quarterbacks in New York that you could pick up and use in case of emergency or in case of Desperation because three quarterbacks went down with injury last year or last week rather excuse me and you can find both James Winston Geno Smith on the waiver wire and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Marcus Mariota He's got Indianapolis against the the he's got Indianapolis in London in week four the Giants after that in week five I think by the time they get to that week four game the passing offense should be solid I wouldn't want to use Mario to this week but the week after yeah, I'd be I'd be down with him Yeah, I think they're a couple more names to it. It's a good week for quarterbacks in a shallower league You got CJ Stroud Facing the Cowboys, but if Jacobi was set his next two matchups after this week Presets at the Giants and home against Detroit and you've got if you want to go Daniel Jones gets Washington Basically, there's three NFC East teams that I want to pick on definitely Washington in Dallas and probably the Giants as well when you're looking at Quarterback streamers you look at those three NFC East teams. I think they're all green lights for quarterbacks Are there any running backs to pick up nobody seem to want to pick up Caleb Johnson? I get it But it's not it's like there are running backs growing on trees He's a he was 12% roster. I think that is 21% roster anyone else? I think there's two that you could stash through Sunday morning and then make a decision on whether or not you want to carry them through the games It's the Mont Claiborne in Minnesota It's a manual Wilson in Seattle and the whole idea is that Aaron Jones is banged up Is it going to play he practice on Thursday? That's a good sign same thing with Dodor in price in Seattle He practiced on Wednesday and Thursday if those starters are there you're not going to have any use for Wilson You're not going to have any use for Claiborne But in the event Aaron Jones in Minnesota is out the Mont Claiborne. We get a huge opportunity He's available in about 90% of CBS leagues and in manual Wilson's already rostered in about half of CBS leagues That number will come down if by Sunday we realized that Dodor in price is good to go people are going to drop a manual Wilson They will stash somebody else if you don't want either of those guys I'm going to continue to pound the table for tie J Spears 54% rostered He's going to be good for about eight to ten PPR points every single week including this week against the New York Giants He is actually outscored Tony Pollard or tied Tony Pollard in both games so far Very very slim margins there All right, and I still think there's only one running back out there that without an injury Could just be the starter for his team. I don't expect it But it could happen and I do think that's Caleb Johnson Who plays on Thursday night so by the time you're watching this you're right Yeah, by the time you're watching this you're gonna have to pick them up off waivers on you know Tuesday night Wednesday morning Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. We're gonna take a break and Wide receivers when we come back got fantasy football today Let's talk about wide receivers to go ahead and stash now beat that waiver wire Oh man, we we swung and missed to use our Colorado Rockies term on the wide receivers last week So let's have a better week this week and the first name that I'll tell you Adam is Khalil Shakir He's already rostered in 57% of league so chances are you're not gonna find him on your waiver But in the event that DJ Moore and Keon Coleman neither of whom practiced on Thursday missed the game in week three There could be a big target opportunity for Khalil Shakir against the chargers That's a favorable matchup form, but you can't get him two other names to look at one is ad9 Mitchell He was actually added to the jets and jets injury report with a finger injury limited in practice on Thursday We'll see where that goes, but I like the matchup this week against Detroit and then just like you know Smith at Chicago and Cleveland in the days after and Nico Collins hasn't practiced and Xavier Hutchinson got a lot of targets in week two and he was almost close to scoring a deep touch down in week two And in week three. He's got Indianapolis He's got Dallas and we before you talked about straddle well Xavier Hutchinson might be the guy and he's out there in 92% of leagues so that could be a wide receiver that you can stash and then potentially you could potentially using this week against Indie Go for it if you need a wide receiver three. That's if Nico Collins is out I think Hutchinson. I'm not gonna rank him like a wide receiver three But he has that type of potential certainly you can't argue with the targets But week four against Dallas. I would especially be excited if and only if Nico Collins is still out for that game One more receiver to look at and this is the tie-j spears of wide receivers But Malik Washington has seen at least one of his teammates not practice so far. They actually two of them have not practiced so far this week It's Caleb Douglas Chris Bell. They're gonna be trailing against Kansas City at some point the chief So call off the dogs and Malik Washington gets a bunch of short targets anyway 8 to 11 ppr points Maybe finds the end zone you'd have to be pretty desperate to go and put Malik Washington into your lineup I'm the only one of the worlds who likes Kendrick Born I have him in a few leagues where you start three receivers and a flex Or a 14 team league But I actually Dave as you were speaking. I picked up Xavier Hutchinson in a league. I like it I dropped one Dale Robinson and I just realized that I have a co-manager in that league and I did not run it by him So hopefully he's cool with it is is the co-manager heath. No, it's Keith Okay, well Keith is probably gonna be cool with it. Heath would not be cool with it By the way, one other thing just if you've gotten an IR spot available Go look and see if Jordan Tyson, Dijon, Shribbling, Jacobi Lane are on your waiver wire and if they are Fix that put them on your IR and see what happens when they come back It's a free move you might as well do it. Yeah. All right, Dave Titans and then we'll do DSTs Dolan Schultz was on this list last week. How did that work out that worked out pretty good? Well Terrence Ferguson is on the list this week And he's only rostered in 26% of leagues and Pook and Akua has not practiced on Wednesday or Thursday And there's a real opportunity for Terrence Ferguson to pick up where he left off against the Giants even though it's against Denver I still love him as a mismatch piece Excuse me, and I think the Rams are going to continue to lean into him He could end up being a top 12 tight end and we number three and he's out there in three quarters of CBS leagues I don't know what you're thinking, but check out this schedule. It's Denver and we three Philly and week four and then Buffalo, Arizona, Vegas, Chargers, Commanders, Arizona again That's six games after Philadelphia. I don't know if Pook is going to miss all those games. I don't even know if Pook is going to miss this game coming up But if Pook is out Ferguson could be in and he's out there in a ton of leagues I love the idea of picking him up the other other tight ends that are remotely interesting Pat Farramuth. He's got a nice matchup against Cincinnati and Kenyans Seedeek against the Lions Alliance have not been great against tight ends You're missing someone here. Well, my missing. Ronda Gatson. I'm not missing anybody. No, I don't agree I mean the Chargers are humming right now. No. Yeah, I think Gatson deserves to be on this list, but Fair enough. All right, let's go to the DST's to stash since in Addy 49% rostered. They've got Pittsburgh this week They've scored the Bengals have double digit PPR. It's a DSC. What am I saying now dumb to dumb dumb now It's me 12 or more fantasy points and typical Defense scoring in each of their first two games and the Steelers offenses and that good So I actually really like the Bengals as a usable DST Four week number three not sure I really want to use them in week number four Jacksonville that Patriots this week Patriots have allowed at least 11 fantasy points to each of the first two DSTs that they've gone up against and then the bills are after that They've got the Chargers this week Patriots after that 13 plus to each of the first two defenses that played against the Chargers I would think Buffalo could get a couple of turnovers and be useful But if I could only pick one of them it would be Cincinnati because of the matchup against Pittsburgh and are they a one-week deal? Yeah, they've got Jacksonville in week four, but then Miami in week five Yeah, I don't love the streaming DSTs if you want to stash one for week four, but I think I Think maybe the Saints against the Falcons the Saints have faced the Lions and the Raven I know the Falcons are getting paid an inspector. They've faced the line, so that's not real. Go ahead. Go ahead. Yeah, I've actually done pretty well. I mean, they've really hung in there. They, you know, get golf didn't have that good of a game. I don't know about their DST per say, but this is the only DST that I see that I feel like is widely available that you could pick up for week five. But I don't think it's really worth using the roster spot. Three fantasy points in week one, nine in week two. Yeah, but they face the lines in the Ravens. Now they got the Falcons next week. Yeah. And but the Falcons usually play them tough. That's a big rivalry. And I can hold Monday night in the dome. I'm even imaginary towel. I feel like they're gonna have towels. They might remember that fan for the Saints that has like a whistle for a hat. But it's like a giant whistle. And then they've got another fan that dresses like a clown for every home game. They've got some wild fans in knowledge. I see towels. I'm just like start the DSD. That's all I'm saying. Oh, that's why people start the Steelers. There you go. Cool proofs. All right, we're out of here, folks. And we'll talk to you tomorrow on fantasy football today.
