The AFL Fantasy season commences with Round 1, initiating the first team lockout. The podcast hosts analyze the Opening Round matches, discussing player performances and fantasy implications. Key premium players like Errol Gulden, Brodie Grundy, Sam Walsh, and Christian Petracca delivered strong scores, reinforcing their selection value. Several rookies, such as Harvey Thomas and Zac Williams, performed well enough to be considered essential cash cows, while others like Zac Fisher and Bailey Smith are flagged as potential traps due to underwhelming scores or roles. Observations from the round include a noticeably faster game pace and higher overall scoring compared to previous seasons. Strategically, the hosts advise starting with a relatively conventional team to avoid being isolated with unique, risky picks, as the game's longevity relies heavily on smart trading throughout the year with a large number of trades available. The analysis proceeds game-by-game, evaluating player stocks and setting the stage for upcoming rounds.

Coach, go and add more. Well, it's a big week, Cameron, even I haven't about a huge week. Arguably the most important podcast you'll listen to this year. Yes. Lock out week in AFL Fantasy because round one is upon us. We have nine games coming up this weekend, which is a nice thing to have, but it all kicks off on Thursday night. We're the Tigers and the Blues destroy. I don't know, Humbinger. We'll be a Humbinger, but that's where we actually get our teams. We're the first lockout. Yes. What we'll have, and when every game starts, players from those teams will be locked if they're in your team, they stay there, wherever you've placed them in your team. And if they are not, well, you might be able to use a trade later on to get them if you really want them. Has the nerves? Oh, look, I'm not good at the best of times, destroy it, but yeah. All this preseason work we've done comes down to this. And so much changed over the weekend off the back of that as well. I guess you're saying dogs, too. Oh my goodness. He couldn't count me to reactionary boys. Dogs, you've been the king of that destroyed. No, well, most of my team was all there, cow. You're all crying about, oh, now I'm going to have to pick up Tanner Braun. Well, if you're wrecked, my team were real last week. You would have seen that he was already there, so you didn't have him. No, he's been, no, that was the only change I needed to have. I only changed. I had everyone else. Actually, we go through this then and we'll see. I serve you upset people. I'm very upset. I always had one of them destroyed. People thought they had a unique. Go on, they did. No, you're not. No, everyone's got to have Petracker. Come on, guys. You're better than this. No, it's a trading game too. That's the big thing we start with our initial squads. And then the, what's a little mouse, the little butter mouse thing? Oh, yeah. That was the ones that climb out of the bucket because they'll trade their way to fairness. That was the worst selling of the butter mouse story I've ever heard. It will need you to do it properly one day. Yeah, I'll sit down and explain it to you. But yes, dog, they do get out. You fly. The mouse of it. That's what we do. It's all about the trades and what you do. So having that, well, almost, this has been almost a thing over the last few years anyway, is having a more vanilla starting team. Yeah. Is the right way to go. A, you're with everyone else. If something fails, we just got a bad thing. But yeah, just starting from there and then it's all about the trades because we do have like a heap of trades like 50 odd trades. Yep. I just adding to that, I can tell you what it's like to be on an island where you have gone solo with someone. Yep. Over the years. Doesn't go well. We have been in some bad spots haven't we? She's lonely. Yes, we have. And it can be tough getting out of it. So let's avoid those spots. I like it. All right. Opening round. It happened. So let's go through what we learned basically and we'll go game by game and I don't know. Stocks out, stocks down. Roy, you love that. I do. Let's, I guess, talk about who we've got and who, well, we may or may not have off the back of the switch. Okay. Well, it's probably one of the things coming into it. We talked a lot about line scores and things like that and what someone has to do to force your hand even though they've got an upcoming buy. Well, we were making our lines pretty high, to be honest, but the thing is people were hitting them to the point their break evens are going to be ridiculously low. And it also getting your first look at proper footy and what it's going to look like. It was a bit of a reminder that some people are just a class above the rest. You can talk about value here, value there. But there's some guys that like they are them. Yeah. Aren't they? Yeah. Errol was one of them. Yeah. Well, get into the games, but probably some really simple things that we saw. My biggest takeaway would have been the game was fast or the games were fast. Yeah. It was a little bit on Sunday night because of all the marks that we saw taken. Probably. We do often see this in the early rounds. We do. Obviously, the rules have changed to make that happen. It was always going to happen early, especially with the combination of it is early and the rules have changed. But you're right. It was lightning at times. The players were excited. And that you're up and about. Aren't they ever? We saw some pretty big fancy scores from some teams, like as in total scores and team scores. So the average was up about 63 points on last year's average. Yes. Five games versus 200. 200 games or whatever it is. But. And the team's playing in open round arguably. They're the teams. They're the teams. So they're probably going. So we won't read too much into that. And especially when we did see some of the some of the massive scores that were put out there. So like Brisbane racked up a 1700, Colin would 1800 in the end like his total points when you know the average is usually in the low 1600s. Yeah, it's big. So that's sort of where you're seeing. So that's probably one of those things. I saw the other things that I saw. Let me just check one. We've got some few more kicks from that and a few more handball. So disposal up a bit. Meta's gained was another thing. So that probably goes for that ping in the quick ball that we saw. I reckon. But let's get into the games and we'll give our takeaways. Stalks up. Okay, we could do triple tree. Let's just say. Let's get bogged. Okay. All right. City Swans and Colton. So we saw that game there. The Blues got pounded in that third quarter. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. That was a nuts way to go. But anyway, we saw from that one there. Top score was Errol Gordon. 126 was in our teams and there'd be zero reason to take him out. And I reckon it might make people want to have him. So that's a thing early on because remember you two had him and I didn't. So you've come around a few weeks. I have. I have. I've definitely been in the main group of training. So he started. It was a little bit shaky. Couldn't quite put finger on the poles with his roll. Yeah. His scoring wasn't exactly free flowing, but then flicked the switch and reminded everyone why they need to have him. 11 tackles. Now he only had three marks. That's going to be higher. I just thought he was super impressive. So he shares the boys with Gold Coast, Bulldogs and Hawks. Yeah. So we're all happy to take that on. It's not great. It's okay. Yep. So he was great though. Or in that as well. Who else did we sort of see? Well, Grundy. Grundy. He's second half. 106. He ended up with. So he had an absolutely thumping second half. He was kind of slow in the first half like all the swans were, but then once they got going, he looked amazing and he's going to just like last year, have some ridiculous ceiling scores. And from this point on, I wouldn't be surprised if he does average that one 10 plus. Yeah. 71 in the second half, 71. So that there doesn't force your hand to start him though, does it? It doesn't force your hand, but if you have him or had him, you would stay on that. You would. Yeah. All right. Now let's go to some other players that are definitely worth mentioning here. Oh, well, let's go premium still. All right. And we'll talk about Sam Walsh. Yeah. 99 Roy. Okay. So that was enough to get his break even down pretty low, moving forward. To the eye to not ridiculously low. No, it'd be 80. Yeah. To the eye test. Sam looked great. He did. He had a preseason. He actually copped in attention and still racked up 32 possessions. So at the most CBAs for them as well, which is what the role was all about that we wanted him for this preseason. That is crazy. So I should. Yeah. So with Walsh, has he had none interrupted preseason? Is he in the midfield? If both of those are yes, then yes, he's a great pick. And he'll probably average one 10. Yeah. Okay. He didn't force your hand with his early score. He's got three way easier opponents coming up. Yeah. So he actually converted to some points, but he hasn't forced your hand. So either way, I would support you getting him. Yeah. But I would also support just waiting on it. Well, to do that with a James Jordan tag. Yes. And you got beat by 60 or 70 points. That's impressive. It's a good effort. All right. Rookies are where we look. And so the cashcows, I think we locked two in out of this game. Essentially, Jagger was always going to be there. Yes. And he was outstanding as we all know had 82 points. So 27 disposal for him, three marks and two tackles. So it's just a nice lock. It's just a lock. M8 is where you should have him. Yeah. Should have him on field play with that. The other one there was Joyce a wrong. Now, he had 50 odd at the half. Yes. Had a donut in the big quarter. Yeah. Winger. But that was, yeah, this is a thing. Like it's a tricky one because that's when Sydney turned it on. Yes. In that third. But I think the fact that he ended up with a 72. Yeah. Is definitely enough. Well, it's more than enough that you need to have him. And it probably started some of that conversation about how many of these spot off rookie defenders do we actually have this year and what construction look like, which you might talk to a little bit more later. So like you said, he was better when they were getting smacked because he was sort of playing defensive wing. And then when a swan's going to be good, yes. So is that a worry for him? No. He's right.
He didn't really do enough for those people with it. We're looking at that. So 40 points. - No. - And to know, maybe you're stocks down or a trap cat. - He's a trap cat. - He's a trap cat. - He's what we call a trap. - All right, let's move on to the next game. And that was the Suns and the Cats and the Suns. Well, like we saw the not before, the Suns smash the Cats there. Petraca, he's probably where we just have to start I suppose. He ended up with a 121 point game, 34 disposal and had five marks to attack us and kick three snags. - Yeah, it was just an all round epic performance. - He filled the lines, isn't he? - He was amazing. - And was it any surprise? - No. - But the level he went to, that was nuts. - So that's plus 30 on what his prize that was. (laughing) We just have to do it. - Yeah, I mean, we were doing it anyway. - We were doing it anyway then. - Man, I mean, it's gotta be on that. - It's gotta be on that. - Oh, he was a big one. - You saw my team review last week, care, you're doing the stuff. - Come on. - That's an easy one. Petraca in. - Petraca in. All right. Who else have we got then out of this game that we have in? - Well, it's interesting because all preseason, because of their draw that's coming up. Super easy. - Yeah. - So people that wanted to take a punt on like an Anderson. Like he was tagged hard and still got to 100. He kicked one goal for. And it's a good thing. - It got a lot worse. - That'll open up over the next couple of weeks. - It's a very good time. - So I mean, if that was what you were interested in, that's still in play for you. - Yeah. - Because they're growing my eyes out of 121. I still don't know if I want to go there. I know you're the biggest fan there, destroyed at 10 marks. - But that's ceiling areas for my eyes. That's the next level. We might have unlocked something there, but we won't start with him, but yeah, keep an eye on it. - Right, Mid-Priest plays is where we'll look now and Tanna Bruin locked himself in our sides. Now, Kau, you didn't have him. This is an opening round cheat code that you got lucky on, I reckon, because everyone else had him, except for you. - Agreed. - Yes. - You're on, right? This was a guy that I was happy to go, "No, I'm not gonna do this, "jolong, I've seen this story before." But yes, I'm happy dog to take this one and go, cheat code has saved me on this one. - Yeah. - So we're seeing sit-in teams there, and I've got him M7. - I have got him there as well. - Yeah, that's him for me as well. - I like that. So he played me a time of half back for him. - Yep. - Looks great. - Lock. - And I guess the rookies that were watching, of course, was Leo Lombard, who we've all locked onto the bench in the forward line. However, maybe he plays this week against the Eagles. - Oh, that's a thing. He could. - He was good. - He could go 75 again, surely. - Scottie's 75, kicked a couple of snags in that. So yeah, it was a pretty nice sort of stat line that he had. He had a few marks in there as well, and tackles like he just all round for him as well. - It worked hard up the ground. - Mm-hmm. - That was good. - All right, to Zik or not to Zik, right? - You learned. - Mm. - So we only scored 37. So it's just a no. - I don't think we can do it. It was a 42, actually, but that's a 42. - I'm not doing it. - You're not doing it. - No. - It's pretty, it's a lot of coin. - It is. I don't mind paying up for rookies. - Yeah, however. - Still 16 touches, but it was just the other things. - That weren't there. - And I mean, that's good, but no, it's a no for me. - Yeah. - I think at this stage, we're a little bit blessed with cheaper options. - In the pregame, they talked about that his time on ground would be between that 60 and 65%, which we're gonna see. That's another thing, take away out of this weekend of what we saw with Tol and ground for some different guys, but yeah, he only had the 62%. So Tim was right, between 16 and 64. - No, that was before. - Now of the premiums of the Baz Linker variety. - Yeah, so he's got a break even of 176. - So he scored an 80, so he's coming down. - Down, down, that's Doc's down, that is right. - I didn't love his role or demeanor. - He's definitely down. - It was. - Oh, you know. - Trap, there you go. - All right, let's go on Saturday afternoon. We had the giants and the Hawks and the Giants dismantled the Hawks there, which was a pretty big margin. What was it, 27 in the end? So fantasy wise, we didn't see massive scores. We didn't see a turning point. - We didn't see a turn. - What's on earth? - Just the scale of hardness. - How? - Ever. They are two tough teams though. - Yeah. - How ever. - We did see some players do relatively well based on their price. - Yeah. - I'll throw Joe Fonti-E-A-G. - Like, lock and load, boys. - I talked about bumping Fonti up your draft. - Nine marks? - Yeah, he's got a very good. - Right, we've every wrote the thing about who's the player that's going to. - Oh really? - So really, he was the one that he had with that. - Oh, right. - They like him. - So, yeah, 22 touches, nine marks. Pretty decent for a 90 and where he's priced at. I would be, well. He's 500 odd K. - Yeah, it's even negative 17 now. - Is it, is activity? It actually affected Whitfield National a little bit. - Yeah, so Whitfield, 87, stocks down. Yeah, you have seen an exciting there as well, weren't you? - I was. - I love Lockhe. You especially love what he does against the horse. - Yes, I do. - Four times in a row, over 120. - Did you happen today? - Certainly did not. - Cox was very good. So he's going to get the Ford status too, I think. So if you've got him in a draftly. - Woo, woo, he was very good. So the thing with him, go 22 touches. - I think he was negative three in the last quarter. - Oh, was he? - Yeah, he was actually humming humming. Yeah, and then he just packed up shop. But yeah, that's worth watching. - And then looking at the hawks, they're big guys, yeah, 89 was a high school with Sicily. - The dog? - You know, new can 83. Then we'll start talking to some of these players that were definitely on the watch list. Connor McDonald. - Okay. - He ended up with 79. But that's a fourth high score for them. - Yeah, which is, it depends if you want to go. - He had a third of their CBAs. - Yeah. - Which is probably under that 40% that we were sort of looking for. - It's not enough. It's not enough. - He's in your team. - No, he's busy enough. - 20 touches. - Yep. - Just tough match up warranted. - Does that have the bonus this week? - Yeah. - And then I'm going to get a reason to back. - Yeah, but 33% CBAs too low. - Right. - The other one then, Sima. - Roursten, 63. - Not enough? - No, his time on ground was my biggest concern. - It was a big concern. - Yep. - Like I just thought he'd be rolling out there for 80%. - Wasn't there? - No, it wasn't. - Hit 56% of their CBAs. So the role was probably what we saw and maybe wanted to see a little bit more of. - But 61% time on ground. - That's an issue. - That's a huge issue. - So you can't pick him. - You can't. - You can't because we've got Rookie set a capable of scoring that. - You need to be on the ground. - It's going to be on the ground. - So that CBA mix as well then. So, Clary, the most in there, Fin Callahan. So they basically had even a mount in there. Then it was Toby Green who got them over Roursten. Now Green was hot for some people. - He was. - You can't be picking him at 77 when he's crossed in the 80s. - No, he needed it more than that. - Yeah. - And that's the thing. - Well Roursten, a bit of a cheerleader for Toby Green. - I always will be my whole life. - Contents, content. - 12 years ago when he ran through the midfield. - This is what he averaged. - Exactly. - Yeah. - So that's a bit of a no. But otherwise, they're probably the key names out of that game. - It's big. - Actually, I don't have a giant or a hawk in my team. - No. - Yeah, same. - Can I just flag something for like draft this week will be huge. - Yeah. - Well, and more has been going high in draft. - Well, he's getting cheap. - Now. - He's an other one, stalks down and he'll be cheap. - Stalks down is right. That was a worry. - Yep. - He's gone very, I think I have drafted him a couple of times, thinking he was going to be big. That wasn't big. - No. - 43 disaster. - All right. Brisbane and the Bulldogs, this was game. - Oh. - That's going to be hard to top actually out of that. - He's not. - How impressive. - That's when I thought, whoa, whoa, whoa, and the footy is back and there was one man running around with his nose up like a little pig feeding out of the trough. People often ask who is front of the queue for a snout. - Yeah. - It is that guy. - 31 touches, 11 marks and they were just trying to get it to him any chance they could. - So he's saying Zorko, a legitimate starting option calculator. (laughs) - Whoa, whoa, whoa. Yes, because this is what the pork will do. But no, we're not doing it. - I think he's an option. - You could still do it. - It depends on, as long as you don't have, if you, we're gonna have to make a choice and we'll get to some pretty big names in the round two by coming up, but you can't have too many of them. But how can he not be an option? I don't care about his age, since he started that dry needling, he's as a Mr. Game. - 6% ownership break even of 35. - This was a very high scoring fantasy game in that too. So, both teams, Bulldogs weren't as much, but you saw some big scores in there. But yeah, the lines just wrapped and we saw that a lot there. Plenty of marks around for them. - There was, but I'll tell you what, the Zorko role, it had a whole new meaning the other day. - Yeah, that was next level. - All right, Bulldogs just to go with some of the big dogs there, Ed Richards, 133 could be, he's just had a big trajectory of what he's done season to season. That Kennedy is still a midfielder. - He is. - I don't know if he's don't for him, but Timming was the premium that we're watching. And we all had him in our teams. And although that's not necessarily, well, he hasn't actually outperformed his starting price, do we still have him? - He's still there for me. - He was excellent. - He was, so he was double teamed in terms of throwing fresh leagues at him all the time, but it was still,
when it got to the fourth quarter, he was still fresher than the pair of them. He was out running them. And I think it's just a sign of things to come. He's just going to keep running. He's opponenting into the ground. And I think he'll score more than that on most weeks. Yeah, a 50-year quarter pounder in the last. Yeah. T-Sale. How did you get to what I'm talking about? Stocks up. Let's talk. Now mid price is now. Connor Butterwick, you have to have him now off the back of that 94, but it's not even just the fact that he scored 94. How he played that game. He took out of their kick-ins. He's rolled. He's a very good player. The game was almost done. And then enter the Buddha. He absolutely dominated. So yes, he's in our team. Like I test, score test, roll test, every test. The fact that he has been to our preseason. Yeah. I'll put my hand up and say he hasn't been in my team recently, but he's been at training. And he's not leaving it. I'm not leaving it all right. So we've all been wondering which one out of those, probably hand-full of forwards that we can trust a little bit. He's at the top of the queue now. And we'll pick up a defensive status for round six when we head into that one. The other mid price was Kitty Coleman, who scored 73. Yeah, that's well over what he's probably status. It is. 20 points. If he didn't have a buy, that would probably be enough. Yeah. I think I can justify an early buy with that score. Now his top on ground at 74% was maybe more than I thought he could have had, especially when he sat so much at the end of the game. That was a big part. So it's a no for me at the moment, but if people are back and he meant I wouldn't blame them. No. All right, rookie time. Locky Jackson. Oh, mate, Carlos. He was very good. 76. He ended up with 16 disposals, four marks, four tackles, just a nice return. As far as I test to go, it's good player. Yeah. He's here guy that we can squeeze on after you. Yeah. So this is another one of these defenders that you've sort of got there that could be one of those options. Good team. Good team too. Yeah. He's always just being the guy I just won on my bench, but he looked more than capable. And it's just a team where if you've got a role like that, you're going to get your hands on it. You will. Sell wood. Well, he did not. 22 years old. 62, one points. Again, that kicks out his cast generation there. He's a basement boss. Yeah. He's a guy I think we need to have. Maybe he's back on structure. We can actually go one deeper. Squeeze another one on. Maybe. Because I think everyone's going to have a defender in their utility as well. Yes. That's where we will be impossible. Is that even the midfield you could have? Oh, yes. Yes. Yeah. Sellwood was there, obviously, as a rookie price player. The other one. So tie Gallup had a 64. And he's in the 200 K range. But he was there 17th high score. Well, that's the problem, though. If you'd like. Panache forward. The thing is, if you're locked into their best 23, it's a good place to be if you want points. Isn't it? To be honest. Like, you get it on a silver platter. What about ZZ Topzack? Zacko Staleski. He ended up with 54. He's got defender. Rucksack is so weak. Is another defender? Slot him there as our R3. Is that so he did this in minimal tomogram, 44%. Now, is that a concern or is that a? Oh, it's once again. One of those. He's a glass half full or half empty. Because, well, those points per minute, that's like, which we're talking elite. Does that going to have to change the out of their team? Harris Andrews, Darcy Gardner, him and Cluj obviously doesn't affect him. But if he does need to play some of that defense, because he's a deaf rock. Well, I think his tomogram has to go up, given how many they're going to have missing. What do they look like moving forward with a rock? This is something that is going to be a question. Is that Darcy Fort was there, rock? How far away is Drauper? And then what do they plan on doing with that? They don't dump the two-time. The premiership rock, do they? No, you wouldn't think so. So, yeah, it's tricky. But then again, if he's playing this week, his cash is going up. And if he turns into a red dot later on, you can drop him down. Yep. Break even a negative 31. Cash Gen has already started. He's there for me at the moment. If you are doing the McCandru R2, which is something else we'll talk to later, then he's kind of the guy that you do. I think so. Now, him and Colgage, right, coming down. Break even a nearly 240 down. Nearly 240 for him. So he's someone that will be cheap. Watching. Yes. To put an eye on. Keeping an eye on. And the last game of the round last night was a bit of a humdinger too. We would have to say, we saw some points scored in this game. So, let's look at points to begin with. The Pies racked up 1816. Big. Green matchup. That's a couple hundred years. Yes, that's a leverage. Yep. I think they did that with a lot of marks. Now, I'll make DJ. Jesus being good with a lot of his work. Best on this process. He has been good. So he said this. And if you haven't checked it out, go check out the opening round. Wrap that he's got there. If you go to afe.com.au/fantasy, you'll find that one. Now, the Pies took 147 marks, which is 23 more than any other game since Craig McCray took charge in 2022. That was his 100th game last night McCray and charged there. It's the 17th time they've taken at least 100 marks. So only 17% of the time do they even take 100 marks. They've gone 147. A huge. Ah, it's a joke. So I had a look here. So 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 players. Double figure marks. Huge. Well, let's talk about who those players were then. So big marking games. The highest score for the game there was Josh Daykos. He took 1341 points. Then we had Maynard. He had 119 points. He took 13 as well. There were some others and well defenders there that we'll talk about. But Houston had 11 and he's a talking point with 120. And Quaynor had 11 marks and scored 95. Frampton had 13. Okay, so it's an anomaly. Well, it has to be that game. But. But. All right, who are we going to talk to first? All right, let's talk to Houston. This is the talking point. We have a poll. What is the problem? The problem is I've seen in your team, Doc. The problem is it. What is wrong with that? Because it's too inflated. The more I look at it, it is so inflated. How inflated though? This is going to be my question. I'll tell you how inflated. Frampton had 13 marks. That's Billy. That's big bad. Well, Billy's not going to have as many and then at least Houston will have what he missed the look on. I know what you were looking at. At half time when he had 81. I'm like, okay, old school is back. But then like, it's not like it wasn't easy going in the second half for Marx and he's still in the second half. He managed back to, he was back to 39 points. About three marks in the second half. I know there's a lot of commentary around them wanting to give him the ball. Well, this is the next thing. They got bored of him after half time. They did. This is the next thing. I thought. I was proud to cry. What? Talking about it. What do you say? So, and then Houston as well in the post game interview that he had. Basically, they want the ball in his hand. They worked it out that they need to do this. They worked it out. Well, they did. But I get no gold sack in. To us, gold sack, who was there at Port Adelaide when he was probably getting his three lots of 90 plus averages. They worked it out. It just is a bad taste in your mouth, right? Because when this fails and it will dog, this will fail. This is the definition of a trap. When the game was on the line in the second half, when he'd go away from it. Tell me he's break even care. I'll have to get it up. Oh, she's sick. I'll put you in there. No, no, no, no, no. So, Houston. Yeah. So, is he priced at 67? No, he's priced at 67. Look, I'm not saying 67 there. Look at the positives. You're not doing it, though. I think Dan's best game for a while, McCray said. I think internally we love when the ball is in his hands and he's playing like that. What are they supposed to say? 12 months. It's taken him just to work it out. He had his. And this is probably one of the flags that I had on him anyway. He had hip surgery in the off season. He's got to. He can't apply law. He's had to work. He was good last week as well in the Aimee game. I don't forget that as well. Look, the jury's out. It remains to be seen. I saw you chase a break even this time last year. Yes. The community were laughing at you. Who? Who? Has more ability to score out of Sam Taylor and Dan Houston. So, don't even compare it. Don't even jury still anything else. Oh, okay. There was. this hard. He's last year one of those anomalies that you'd like to talk about. It should be. Because that was actually ridiculous. Like, I had to write about him a lot or I'd calling with this preseason and there wasn't anything I could actually pull out of heart from going. Oh, you did? No, I'd use the three of you before you went to. Yeah, no, it's a very relevant point. And I think he's wanted to watch for sure. I'm very uncomfortable with how many points were in their backline. That was a joke. quotes. This is from the cry.
You try to talk yourself in here. We felt like part of our progression of our team had to be certain phases of our offense and defense and Tyson Goldsack has come in and he's running out offense and you see tonight you defend on the scoreboard with a ball in hand. Talked about how Brisbane do it and they're just copying. Okay, all right, so that's all very valid. All right, so they've tried, they've changed their game plan so a little bit of that is in their favor, right? They played the easiest team you could possibly play. In terms of that paying off, that game style paying off. So should we be talking about Braden Maynard then? - 119. - Well, there you go. - No. - You don't know. Look, he's up for us at 67, is he? - I reckon he would be. - He's pretty close. Now Houston did have six kickings, which was half. Like that's three points. - Actually, Maynard is priced at 66. (laughing) - There you go. - There you go. - Somewhere. So that's my problem with this inflation of it, although they all might get a pretty big boost. Look, they had about eight players. - So no how, no how was there as well? Who else was missing more? I know they're not similar type players, but ball gets in their hand. - So they had seven players, especially. - A ton, Pendlebury did it in half a game. Like, yeah, well, come on now. - It was ridiculous scoring. - So let's just get to Nick Daycross. - Okay, let's go to the big dotten. - Nick Daycross. - He's Nick Daycross in your sides off the back of his 146, where he's had a 136, sorry, off the back of his 41 disposal. - Yes. - Seven marks, two tackles, and just. - Who might have saved that up? - Three vote game. - Well, who might have said that's not enough? - I know. - I can't. - We all need him at some point. - And it's just getting harder if he's gonna be doing that. - Break even 62. - So he's just been a flat no for us, because he'll be in the buy. - Yeah. - But every man has his price and opening around score. - Well, what was his line, Durek, and seriously, at 125, we would have been thinking about it. - Yep. - 130 and that. - So his price at 1.0 is not too. - 136. So he's put 30 on it. - If he has another big score this week, when and how are you getting him in your team? - It is a long way off. - Yep. - Especially if you're gonna do it in a traditional way, if you have a dummy spitten, straight swap of premium that you think isn't performing, that it would be your only way for probably a month and a half, two months. - So he's got Adelaide Saturday night at the MCG, and then straight into his boy. - Yeah. - We have heard. - Which hurt? - That's a really quick, you'd like to see his. - Yes. - You've got the nose. - But then you've just got him in. - But then you've got him in round four. - Don't you? - Well then he goes three. - Round three. - You can work out the GWS and he travels to the gabbour. - So like it's a disgusting stuff. - Not a great draw. - But he's hungry. - Oh he's hungry, man. - Tags? - Well he caught the tension on his head. - Yeah, so the tags though, Adelaide maybe might use like a peatling or someone like that. GWS obviously bedfid being out. So it looks pretty clear for tags. - Oh yes, and I just think he's more equipped now than ever. - Obviously he was. - See, last year he was done by Frio, Jolong, Sydney, we'll have a go on him as well. He doesn't play those guys too late around. So does Ticket Couple Boxes there destroy? - He does. - Does he Cameron? Good luck. - Yep, great run. - So we talked about him coping well with the changes. - 112 years ago. - And he looked great, didn't he? - Yep. - Yep. - Is he like him? - He is. - He is. Because realistically we're all going with one of English, Grundy or Cameron. - Yep. - If you wanted a more unique one, he is fine. - Oh real J, if you go on that unders. - Yes definitely. - Who doesn't have the buy? Right, Saints, Sinclair, 122, 35, disposed from. - Six marks, three tackles. He was just obviously very good at all the kick. Well not all the kickings, but a lot of them, eight of them. - Yeah. - So his role is, mm. - Yep, so he's back to, we talked about it last week. He's back to Batman, no longer Robin back there. And that is a huge tick for me. - Well who is his Robin? Windager. - Windy. - So he had a hundred and sixteen, 29 touches, 11 marks for him. - Even though Chris Mascarrow wants a bit of Robin action. - He does. - But yep. - That role of Windhagers, that's good. So Windy, he's getting disrespected here. He's priced at about 82. He's got that much meat on the bone in that role. It's not funny. They could have used him to tag, they didn't. I think it's a sign that it's, if you wanted to go there, you could go there. But Sinclair, just back to him. - Yep. - I've done it. That's forced my hand. - Okay. - Have you got him in? - Yep, I can't say no to that. - He was so good in the praki game as well. - Yeah, Houston only scored two fewer points than him. - Yeah. - A lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, lot, - He's in that ridiculous. Yeah, you're right. But no. - Go on, get him. - No. - All right, the other premium worth talking about here, well, there's not the couple of others, but Nassau Akow. You've been keyed to you because he's no longer in your team, I see. scored 73. He cops some attention. - Hi, I know she's here too. - About Tommy's cops some attention. - Isn't this a bit so hard? - I'm worried about last year. - Yeah, and he's because have a look at it. - Yep, seriously, he like, that was a full commitment to shut him. - Yeah. - And obviously did it, might have them thinking twice about the luxury of sitting him forward like he's just untouched. - Yeah, so what does that mean? Like this is what the role, that was the role that we thought was happening and why you and I were on him and care was. - It wasn't. - Like the joke is they're gonna have to, unless he can work out a way to break this real quick, he's gonna have to play behind the ball again because he generates so much for him back there. - But on that, stocks down. 73, he's getting cheap and looking at him at some point, I'm sure. - 21 in the second half. - That's nasty. - He can't pay up for that. - No, you cannot. - All right, then the other big dogs, I guess, Tom DeConning, 84 in the Ruck and then we saw role marshal, 28 points, but he was concast. That was later in the game. That was a pretty average score anyway. So he's getting cheap. Hopefully he still plays and stuff going forward because he will get forward status as well. - The riding was on the wall. That's why he wanted out. - Yeah. - He knew what was coming. - He's role. - Yep. - He was such a waste for his talent in that role. - Big Tom. - Value picks our flanders, 100, although in the first half of that first quarter. - Didn't touch the peel. - If anyone was sitting, I'm there firing while that game was on. - I'd love to know actually how many people might have traded in that first quarter. - Let's just have a look at the team without him. - Yeah, I reckon. - Anyway. - He came good, very good. 28 disposals are the good thing about him. The way he plays is behind the ball a bit. And yeah, so that's going to be a massive win for us in our four lines. Must have as we've talked about. All preserves anyway. Christopher Carroll, as you've said, Jack Carroll as that midfielder, playing in defence. I think in that 300k range of price, you just have to do it. Rookie price player, if you check out those, Rookie Rankies. - Where did he rank? - Where did he rank? Well, he's actually second behind Jagger for me. - Yeah, cool. - That's 332k. - For this beautiful. - Yeah, which is interesting, because most of us don't have two rookies on field. - He's forced my hand there. - Really? - Yeah. - Are you just saying these things like what? - Probably, I can't actually see my team. (laughing) - The one we do need to talk about, right, is the poo. - You're right. - Because I got some stinky vibes. - Right. - What is going on with you? - 166. - Right, and he got some CBAs. - Yes. - But he's playing dodgeball in there. - Well, he had about 40% of them I saw. - Yep. - Look, I think he'll be better than that. Like it just wasn't his night, but there was, it's a game where there was a lot of points and ball to go around. And like you said, he dodged it. So, one mark. - You think about, he's cheap, right? - Yep. - But it's not cheap compared to, I know they're different positions, but it's not cheap compared to someone like Carol. Is it? Like, who would you be more comfortable fielding at the moment? The cheaper one, a little bit of a restructure there. And poo is no walk up into the team anymore. - No, he's not. - So, you could get that by on the back of that score. - Yeah. - He can go, I think. - Oh, it's massive. He's been there. - Oh no, oh no. - Stayed out. - Yep. - That's that way we go, Roy. - That's how we roll. - He's pretty brutal. One of the mentions, and probably out of the whole weekend, as well, but, did you see Pendles? He rode the pine a lot. Almost 21 minutes he had at the start of the game on there, but then had some big quarters, like 12 minutes, couple of 12 minute quarters, where he was on the bench in one stint type thing. Similar to that, a whole mate McCray, he had 11 minutes in that last quarter. - And the swans did that with Papu as well. - Yeah, so he held him off. - That sort of pseudo sub-shilderic was a shocker in that last quarter, he had 12 minutes. - Yep, right in there. - So that's how they're looking to use it at the moment. So did you guys see McCray interviewer about it? - Oh no. - Well, so Pendles talked about it as well. So they both did, and that was the plan. They actually wanted him coming in towards the end of quarters, especially early on, heat out of the game, and then the class of Pendles finishing it off. So he played 50% game time pretty much for that 100. - Wow. - So don't be surprised if he's roll like that continues because it started so well. But he obviously said he's happy to play whatever all the team needs, but yeah, that was their tactical approach to it, and they probably won't change it now 'cause it was good. - Now it was better for a bit at all, I'm talking about opening around, because a lot of those will dictate structure, and we'll talk structure now of what we've got. So bring up your team, Roy, I'm-- - Dustin, come on.
- We're buying a dog's breakfast. Let's see where things currently stand and what we actually think about. We'll talk through almost who are those must picks for each line and the structure, which includes sort of where our rookies are and who they probably are. And don't forget there is a great article that I heard on Com.A.U.S. Those fans are the out of a rookie rankings from the war dog. - Me time, me time. - Yeah, well I'll need to go and look at that. - Let's go and have a look back on. All right, who is in your team that won't be leaving? Let's start with the Conor Rosy. - Yep. - All right, Colby, Kale. - Ah, Colbs. Have you found any? - He's gonna be okay. - Right. - 'Cause I've gotta pay him the day Sunday. - They'll get a pay him in the verfilm. - Yeah. - But you don't drive Ferrari through the mud, do you? - You don't, right? - You don't. - You don't do it. - No, Colby shouldn't be playing for. - There's no point risking his value in that. - But I think the fact that they were going to just shows that he's right to go. - Yep. - So he doesn't move for me, 'cause the value of him, I've got him in the mix for the roll on 22. - Yeah, I agree. - So if he's named, he's 100% locked for me. - Caleb wins it, doesn't move for me. And you said, Roy, you don't have him. - Well, that was half-eric. (laughing) - He's just a lock, I think. - Yeah, so he's not a lockety lock lock. - Kiss her, they play this week. - Thank you. - This is why he came back in the year. - Because that will, he will get amongst those marks. - He will. - So yeah, he's in for me, but I'm not as big on him as you are. - Blackeston. - I think he needs to be there. - There is a slight little flag. - Come on, you need to be keeping this going. - No, you'll be right. - Right, yeah. - I think you're still picking him anyway, so that's the thing. And then the rookie structure with what we've got, this is where a shuffle could happen for me, 'cause I've got Blackeston at D5, and then Lindsay at D6, with Sarong, Jax, and then Grille as utility. So we've got these defenders. So I haven't even included Sealwood, who's got a nice score there that'll help his price rise. - That's true. - Could we bump that up? Could that become that spot, and that Houston could turn into a rookie? - A rookie. - A Blackeston. No Houston. I tick that off in a flash. Well, Jax, Calus, and Sarong, they're 70s. They were 70s on the weekend, like, they could be. - Yeah, I like it. - If they're hitting 70s like that, and looking that good, doing it, surely there are say 50, 55. - Surely. - Midfield. - Right, our locks as such. I don't know how many locks are really out of here, because I think we can throw a blank in over a few. Errol could be an arguable lock, because he's been in our pre-season. - Yes. - In our team's all pre-season, but we'll start with the Laren. Tana Brewn has to be. Now he's either M6 or M7. - Yeah, Roll, score, tick, tick. - How did he have him? - This time I think. - He's worn, yes, but. - That's what opening rounds for us. - I wanted a 200. - So you got him in now, but you took out Nassaua? - You are not one of these guys that are feeling him out. - He's a very. - He's a very bad at it. - For some people are going, "Get, dog, get him in." (all laughing) - I'm just poking the bad. - Right. - So Tana Brewn there. So at the moment, we're probably feeling okay with just having the one rookie on, and that's jagged. So he's the other lock that you need to have. - Yep. - He's in M8. Could you have a carol, for example, there at M7 and Brewn at M6? - I was correct what I said earlier. - You did do that. - I did do that. - That's what brought up stuff. - So I've got Brewn, carol, Smith. - All right, other rookies, which we're still, we're probably waiting on a bit. Like a safe play will be paying the 350K for Dursman. - Yes. - But is Tom Blomire's an option if he, well, if he gets selected for North Melbourne, I think we just have to do that. The 230K mid mature age, great scoring. What do you add is 90 odd, average 90 odd, last year in the VFL. - He just added something to their team. Like in that little looked that we've had at him. So if he's in for that, like, I think he's only got a play will, and he'll be in there for the long haul, I think. - That's the way. - Plays that have been out there. I don't think Bada's leaves our teams. - No, he can stay. - Yep. - But there's a couple there that we get a little bit of a free ride. - Just too. - We walked in here and said he's had a free ride. - Yes. - I was worried about his, how he plays based off what I saw on the weekend. He might be one of these. Ooh, lucky, now you saw it, don't really have a 70 odd. - It's a valid concern. - It is free ride, Jack. I don't know. Look. - Can he take Max against St. Cuda? - Of course he can. - Well, I know the lines lost, but they have a lot of contributors. It's very easy for Dankely to fall behind when so many others are racking up. - Yep. - When Zorco is hogging it. - You're right, still will be the number one banana for. - You're a pig. - But in what should be a great matchup? - We need him for more than a week. How comfortable are we with Steele? - Well, I think he averages a ton. - So do I. - Well, that's fine. - Okay, that is out of no disaster. Well, it's not a disaster. And he's at a perfect price. - That's part of the worry. He's the ceiling on him. - Well, he'll get you through the buyers and then you can send him to your favorite Uber premium coming off him. Is that a play? - I'm looking at another bloke. - My stinky's okay. He's staying in my team. He's another free rider. I can see him. - This is Paris. - You two have sucked about this one this morning. - Paris is a free rider dog. - Do you know what? I can't see him anymore. - Oh, he's gone. - So he's been there from-- - So he's now you, I'm rookie that's coming. - Yeah. - That's what you've done. - Yeah, so he's been there for me from our first training session. - Yeah. - You've cut him. - Cut him. - Sorry man. - He's done nothing. - Don't cut him one day. - Price at 72. - Yeah. - Dog, you'll be lucky to hit that in at the moment. - I remember that he was on my never again list for a reason. - Yep. - Just go over to yeah. - Yes, he scored that 30. - And we had about 12 weeks before 40 was back. - Now I had a soft moment where I signed off on the paperwork to let him back amongst the boys. - Yep. - No longer. - He's out. - Yeah. - So I've moved him. - Wow. - I think that's a Roy actually. - Oh, a big time. - It's off the back of nothing as well. - I know he hasn't done anything that way. - Oh no, he's not happy with the decision. - You know what I'm like with my random aggression. - Yeah. - Yeah, that's me. I'm very noted. - He's got it. Fair enough too. - Nothing. - Hmm. So he's got Hawks this week. - Ah, see? - Yeah. - No giant hit a turn against Hawks last week. - Oh, he's cooped. - He's comes to 16. - All right, let's look in the Rocks then. All right, let's just start with McAindry. He's a must have. Easy R2 or R3. - Easy R2, dog. - Old at long. - It's more nerve wracking now. It's coming down to the Crouch. - Yeah, and he came there in R2. - Great article DJ did as well. Have a look at that one or no if you don't. I don't know, you're just like fantasy. But I think he just has to be. - Was Rob spotted on the weekend somewhere? - It's all right. - Yeah, what a thing. - Had a bit of a goat delusity was it? - F1. - Well, that's quite good preparation. - Yes, it is. (laughing) - No, I think that we do it. We have to, we go with that R2 option. Mostly because who is your alternative? - Yeah. You could go set and forget to do it. - You could, yeah. - And he covers one of them for one of the weeks. - Yep. - So you don't have to be going, yeah, 21 that week. - Yeah. - That best? - Mm. - Yeah. - Ah, yeah. - I don't know. - Who's the number one? - I think he has to be. - Right, one. - At the moment. - Out of English. - Out of all the rucks. - Grundi. - Yeah. - If you were drafting right now, I'd be comfortable taking English with pick my first rock beat. - Just ahead of. - Just ahead of Grundi. - Grundi. - I agree. - I think that's fair. - Maybe Dastard Cameron slides up a little bit. - He's definitely out there. - He's knocking on the door. - We haven't seen Max yet. - No. - And is there a world that maybe your Luke Jackson is still an option here that could even be here? Ah, one. Or if you wanted him as you are to going with one of those big dogs. - Still an option. I just think he's probably a 95. - Definitely gonna have Cox there or Darcy. - Yeah, I'm nothing wrong. - He's done nothing wrong. - No. - It just hasn't scored mega. - Yeah. - Like he's priced at 95. Like he's actually significantly priced. And I think that's probably fair. - And that might be about what he does. - I think so. I'm starting to feel that way. - And then are you better off if you're just getting a guy who's priced at what he's at? Is that better to be English or? - Probably. - Grundi. - Yeah. - Yeah, and we mentioned a Zach, oh, it's going to be his new top. Could be that bench guy. - I think so. - All right, forward line. She's a well still there. Is that one that you just don't want to overthink? Because I'm sure this week will be the time when people will start going, should I be paying up for? - The shoes. - The shoes. - Yeah, you don't think about that. - Agreed. - Yeah. - Soul John. - Patraca, he's there. I've currently got him in my midfield though because I think the four of us are that. - Here's Sawko, but Patraca has to be in your team. - Yes. - So that's there. - How have you found seven forts? - Flanders. - Right. - Yeah. - Butterwick. - Okay. - Did enough didn't he? - I think you need one rookie on field. That could be. - It is just one that was. - Longbar, like it's, you might play Longbar this week because of the West Coast factor. - I can't have two. - Just that has to be. - And then you've got this bunch of guys. The poo cow you've written off. - The poo, yep. - So Philopoe is out there. Richelle. - Hmm. - Well, okay, with Richelle. - I'm okay with Richelle. - I'm okay.
warming to Richelle. - I don't love it. - No, not as much as you do. - He's gonna be in the midfield. - It's actually real, it's happening now. - You could put me in the midfield dog. Doesn't mean I'm gonna get a touch. - He's priced at 62. - Yeah, that's nice. - He's got 20 plus at a minimum. - 20 plus at a minimum. - You are a mad dog man. - Isn't he? - All right, where is his love come from? - Don't know. - What I'm saying so far, what are he then talking about? - Rankins the flag. You don't have a good eye for this sort of stuff. - No, that's fair to me. - How does he say that so not aggressively? Where are you from? - No, you would have done that street. - Richelle is there. Who else is in those mixes? Murphy reads. - Murphy reads in the mix. - Sam Lawler. - And we've crossed him. So there's a few here. And that's why I think he can probably try to fit. A couple of them, therefore, that's why Petraca bounces to my midfield. And if you wanna go even lower, like that Marshall. Todd, I'm late, Todd. - So we're under 400 K. - So I have been in a position where I've gone, oh, that looks nice and safe, with all those mid prices there. - But they're mid prices. - They're mid prices. - We looked at them, looking at who was safe with these high CBAs in the preseason. - Yeah, 29 touches. - Yep. - But before the weekend. - Where was that? - Where was that? - Butterrick. He would have been down low on your, on your midfield, on your rankings, Roy. Let's go back to that article on the website. Where was Butterrick on that compared to some of these guys? - In the mix. - But you would have had Richelle in there. - I would have. - You would have had Murphy read in there. - Yes. - Ooh. - Roll. - Now this one I know is so. - Roll, roll, roll. - It's the roll. - I sound like God, yeah. I had Butterrick in my team before this game. Now everyone's got him. (laughs) I'm not happy about it. - No, I'm not happy. - How you can spell his name to put it in there. - No, I always always, "Yeah, I'm not a Butter." (laughs) - Anyway. - Butter. - Yeah, and so the rookie structures we've mentioned there, it's one on Longbad, Robertson, and then I think it's Doverston. I think he's the one. - Well, yeah. - People play. - And that's probably why go and check out those rookie rankings to see my thoughts on those. (laughs) - Okay, 'cause I got all this indecision about the forward line, right, the structure of it. 'Cause I just got reminded over the weekend that mid prices really pay off. Because we can hide behind the boys for a few weeks thereafter, round one, could we roll out Robertson? Whose roll looks good for the Eagles? And Longbad, just while we get a feel for the land. - Yeah, you could. Because it's a nice matchup for Longbad. Good roll for Robertson. - Mm-hmm. - It's just who would you put in that last bench? - Well, it gets the areas where you gotta pay up, doesn't it? - Well, yeah, we're not even happy with Doverston being there too, no. - No. - But there's no one else to have. - No, there's not. So probably are gonna have to have just the one. - Yep. - How will you actually have you been after opening Round Roy? - I just feel like-- - Did you behave yourself? - A little bit. - Okay. - A little bit. So you know the feeling, traditionally, of Captain Hinesight, when you've seen Foodie, you've seen the first round and you just think, why did I unlock the part of my brain that thought sensibly about a few things? Imagine having the benefit of Captain Hinesight, but you still actually have control. - It's not Roy, actually. This is a blessing. Like I am using my Hinesight to fix what was a rubble and take people like Nick Daykos. It's a gift, it's a gift from the fantasy gods. - I love it. - Right, structures, all of that. - We're gonna have-- - We're gonna have to get angry. - Play more content this week, including, I think Roy, you're gonna have a bit of a peace on, players to build your team around? - Not just A-piece, V-piece. - V-piece, yes. - I just be full of A-P-R-G-I-S, but I just want to sell it on it. - Well, I don't know. I've thought that might actually be a good way to structure the article. Like I know we want all of them, but these are the ones to put in and then play around them. What do you think? - I like it. - It could be interesting. And then we'll have a traders team coming out as well. - You guys need to fix that too. - Yeah, that's probably what we need to do after this. - That needs some reaction, remodeling. - Definitely. - A bit of Dan Houston in it, I reckon. - Oh no, here we go. - With a sports bet AFL same-game multi, combine multiple legs for bigger odds. About Smith, 28 plus disposals, Gorn, 40 plus hit outs, and Cameron, two plus goals. Lock it in with sports bet, conditions apply. - Chances are you're about to lose. (upbeat music) - Got a question for the traders? Tweet the boys at AFL Fantasy or head to facebook.com/AFLFantasyOfficial. - Alrighty, so all of those social media places, they will be buzzing this week because we'll be making sure all the news is out there on everything, so make sure you're following along. Right, let's get just stuck into as many questions as we can before the tape runs out. - Oh, recording time. - That's what I'm talking about. - The client's stuff is pretty deep thing. - I'm a very deep, different level, - Very deep. - Very deep. - Very deep. - At least it's less aggressive. - We can speak. - Like you're coming from like your little Dan. - Very confused. - Right, go. Jeremy, has got this one. - G'day boys, Sinclair and Sam Walsh, or Dawson and Roberts. That would be my man, bomber Robert. - Yeah. - Sinclair and Sam Walsh, I really like those. - So do I. - So Sinclair and Sam Walsh both have boys. Dawson and Roberts don't. - It's Dawson and Roberts. - Oh, wow. - Yep, you just haven't cared about any boys. - No, no, I haven't. - I haven't. - Ow. - No, you have to go through without a boy in this scenario. - We used to say, right, you can't have boy players. And now, after we've seen them, we're like, "Oh, yeah, you got it, you got it, man, you got it, man." - We've got it, man. - Flood gates. - Now, these are a lot of questions, or a lot of comments even. How many opening round players is too many? - Oh, that's from Luke. Josh has got there. How many early boy players are you rolling with? And that goes on and on and on. - So we used to say, unless they present as awesome, ridiculous value like a Flanders, you just don't do it. And now, here we are, grabbing all of them. - Okay. If you want to get off to a flying star, yep. - You still. - Yeah. - You don't pick any of the premiums with an early boy. That will get you off. - But does that necessarily get you off to a flying star? - I think it does. I think there's still enough that it does. I think. - And then we'll just jump over the top of people without Nick Deikos as well. - Yes. I think it's two different players. It's like are you doing one or two pit stops? - Hmm. - Which strategy? - So Luke, that's another deep level there, Roy. - So deep today. That's up there with my arm. - Oh, my sister's deepest, some of these comments. These are great. - I've lands from Rodney. Roy is the smartest. - Oh, one is smart. - Cow is the dumbest. Is that, is that Rodney? - Why would Rodney, Rodney, Rodney? - No, I've landed. - He just put that on there. - Rodney is going to love. - No. - Comments a few minutes ago. - This must be a Q and A. Not just a dump. - Sorry, sorry, cow. - Rodney might get a dump. - Yeah, post that. - Got it. - Got a question, Rodney? - You could make nice a graphic of that. I can say it with like the Cursey Fountain. - Oh, Cursey. - You looking off into the distance at the beach or something like that. - Don't you? - Got those ones, 'cause you do take some photos of yourself at the beach with your shirt off. - You, you. - So Rodney had, Rodney had, I never knew there. - I never knew. - You had never knew to ask a question. And decided, now I'm not gonna ask a question. - And sorry, I had the choice of not reading it as well, cow, but. - But did you just encourage everybody to do that? - Actually, that quote with that picture of me, with the hazards behind me getting out of the water. (laughing) - You could sell that. - That's right. (laughing) - All right, let's go. Leon's got this one. We sort of answered this one, but should I have Devon Robertson or Leo Lombard at F6? Simple answer for me is Dev, but I think I'll play Leo ahead of Dev this week. - Yeah, that's very bold. - Aagles matchups gonna be. - He'll kick a few ridiculous. - Yeah. - This is where your Scarlet Hardness is gonna be off the, off the charts. - He'll be fine this week, Ronnie. - Leon is Conor McDonald-Aloch. - Not a lot. - No. - No. - An option still. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Still an option. - Yes, he is. - Still an option. - If you were, let's call it, you had him in your team, you were 60% confident before the weekend. Where do you have it now? - Still about the same. - About the same. - Really? - Not a thing. - He paid it against a team that doesn't give up points. - Yeah, that's true. - Still there, fourth high score. - We all don't get to play some kill to every way. - No, exactly. - So we can't, like we get, we can't get fooled by opening round. All right, one's like day course, they're not fooling us. That's a thing. Being reactionary to day course in Gordon, that's not fooling, 'cause we talked all preseason about how scary it would be to not own him. - Yeah. - And then they come out with a reminder instantly. I don't think he gets scared about McDonald, but he was their fourth highest score. - Yeah, like it's okay. - Do you know what I'd be scared about? The Hawks are full stop. - Yeah. - True Star was asked to heap, so I'm gonna throw a couple of names at you. L-D-U. - Option. - Yeah, it is. - Crossed 88. No buy. - Option. - Big option. - What can he average? - He can get to 94. - Can't, is that all? - Yeah. - That's maybe not enough. Can he get a triple Roy? (sighs)
I was gonna say 98. - He's never nontriple. - No. - No, but could this be the year? - It will not be the year. - Well, it could, but so he's an option. - He's an option. - Underpriced. - No, it's only through the voice. - Yeah. - Jagger VC. - Kale. - I'll be the judge of that. - Look, he could. - Against the Tigers, Roy. That's a 120 in it. - And you might as well, because you're not gonna have a loop. - No. - Zero anyway. - Hey, I'll tell you what, it's a scary week for Captain Picking from the board. - Yeah, like no. - Are you nervous? - Oh, man. - About putting this out there. - Mega nervous. - I would be too. So we're thinking we're going-- - We're probably not being there. - Yeah. - A loop, right? You're all in. So, - Thanks for hiding. - But then everyone's got their product, their number. - They too, Roy, yes. - So when it happens, okay. - So for you VC, someone. - Jagger. - Jagger, okay. We're saying Jagger, who's just going bananas. What would Jagger have to score for you to throw a spot? - Invite Harry Barnet back to training. - Hmm. - Well, you're right. - Give me a number. - 135. - 135, yeah. - And even that's borderline for the money. - Well, it is. - The sacrifice generating. - Yeah. - Dog, what would Jagger have to score for you to take his VC? - 120. - Oh, you are not telling the truth. - Such a straight batter. - He's a bit of a shocking. - ZZ top. - Yeah. - May not make a hype. - So you've gone cold on ZZ, I don't know. - No, no, no, no. - But I'll take that because he could be a red dot lighter anyway. - 120. - No. - And Rodney's calling me down. (laughing) Back your friends. - Let's get more into some questions. - A few people. - Hockey Harkle wants to know, Coleman or Windsor. - It's Windsor every day of the week. - For me. - Not every day of the week. - Mine. - For mine. - For mine. - What day wouldn't you do it on count? - Tuesday, hey Tuesday. (laughing) - You're right, it is. Kitty was good. He had a good score. - It's, yeah, Windsor. - Still Windsor. - All right, Sebastian on Twitter or X. Can I get a chance? Need your thoughts on Whitfield and Sinclair as picks regardless of the buy? - Mm. - I'm big on Sinclair. - I think Whitfield after that start. - Yeah. - Like, you just wait. - You have two good scores in a row for Sinc now. - Yeah. - So Whitfield got his price going down. - Yep. - Sinclair, he's going up. - Speaking of, St. Kilda, fancy observer's got this one. When do we start taking wind hater seriously? Had a 140 in the preseason, 116 in opening round. Halfback roll, absolutely dominating price in the low 80s. - Now. - So there's your L.D.U. - You're a comparison to the little cheaper than L.D.U. Would you feel more comfortable with windy? - Every day of, including Tuesdays. - Including Tuesdays. - Wow. - That's important. - No, I think he's great. I'm not shopping in those areas, but if people do, I tick that off 100%. - John, thoughts on Will Powell, the roll was there. It definitely was. - Well, extremely easy to run as well. Possibly downgrade from Kobe. - He didn't have enough points for me. - But the roll was there. And Raos can still be a few weeks, isn't he? - Yeah, he's got 69. - Yeah. - Just wasn't enough. - No, it's not. - So I'll do the joy. Let's have a look at, yeah. So here are the most CBAs of the midfielders. - Yep. - They had 25 when Addison had 24. - Yeah, he looked alright too. Couple of easy games. He should get you off to a decent start. - Draft only. - Yeah. - I wouldn't do it. - Right, so many Houston type question. - You know, you're there. - Oliver, do you trade? Is Houston a bona fide version of last year's Santa Olympic? - Yeah. - Master of score built in and very likely underpriced. Do we take the cash and run? - Dog, do you? - Oh, now this is Oliver. This is, he goes great to say one dog at the tennis. Yesterday we did the tennis yesterday, right? And I just the long system international. - Long system. - We don't want to live here. - What? - And, yeah, chair umpire from Perth is Oliver. He said, "G'day." Yeah, what should I do with my time? It was a totally sort of, but yeah. - So I always on my game. - Anyway, hang on a sec. - Hang on, you just backed this up a bit. - Was that down? - At how tennis courts here in London, isn't it? - Yeah. - Okay, I've got a serious question. So you actually watched this. - Yes. - Was there an issue with how close the nets are to the side? Like, you know, you watch Australia and open, they run and slide, they've begun face plan into the. - No, a show court. That's decent size. - Is there a plan you're running? - So, but with the grandstand next to it. - Right, so they play the preliminaries running into the side now. - Yeah, probably. - And then they get to slide a bit of dodgeball. - And show court. - Was there any people there? - A couple. - So dog had to go to the. - How much did you take it? - Yeah. - 10 bucks. - Bargain. - International. - They still sell beer there. - I say that was positive. - What's the wrapper there? - And you know, what's there during the week? - Pat Rafter. - What? - Yeah. - How did you come to the end? - That's cool. Anyway, this dog's birthday too. - This sounds like a bit of a great best. - What a great best punishment. Roy. - Play on. - Just sound. - Play on. - It's dark. He's asking his Houston and my start now. - Yes, the score was bigger because the Saints allowed it. - But it's clear that they're wanting to use him at every chance to get it down. There could be 20 to 25 points under bars. Mark, yes. This is all the truth. It is. - Yeah. Dog won't do it. - If Houston somehow came out and scored 100 in round one, he would be in my team for round three. - Ooh, okay. I'll take the little bit of money on me, sir. - A little bit. - I think it would be a little bit, wouldn't it? - You don't know I'm so much. - What about that comment before it made me think of you last year, take the money and run was the quote. - Okay. - Dog got the money. - Stump, what are you doing? It's a bit of money. - What are you doing? - He's face. - Don't the money. - Trying to get up. - That's a good game. (laughing) - Oh, you're so fun. - Far out. This is gonna be a long wake, isn't it? - Right. - Couple of others here, Aaron. So he's pulled out. - What? Did he end up going down in price by the time you got rid of it? - No, I still made coin out of it. - I don't know if you did. I'm able to go. I get a pie from the shop. - Sorry, next question. - I hope Rodney's listening. - Aaron. - So he's pulled out. Who replaces now if you're choosing and Jack's also got this question? Are you picking Murphy, Reed or Laura? - Reed, I think. - Just in a better team. - Lawler's got the more locked role he does. - Off the back of that stuff too, like who they've got out, who the missing is. - I think he's CBA, can I be? - 'Cause he's no coming for a month. - A lot better. - And then what else was there? Oh, hot and he's down for a while. - Yeah, so CBA can I'll be up for Law up? - Is he too dusty and is he too richment? - Ironically, when they're playing forward, I think Reed will push up the ground more than Lawler. But I don't know, I think I'm Reed. I'm Reed. - Points will flow more. - All right, next one here. Nova, Cascade can have two of Philipu, Lawler, Butterwick, Murphy Reed. Well, Rank them. Butterwick, Butterwick. - Yep. - Number one. - Yep. - Poo, Lawler, Murphy Reed. Did you just back in poo over Reed based on? - No, I don't. - No. - I don't think I do. - I didn't like what I saw. - No. - Stinky. - What didn't you like though? - I didn't like that. - Just that, that he didn't. He took one mark, did he? - He did, one mark. Do you know what I didn't like? The moment I committed to watching him closely and didn't seem for about half an hour. - Yep. - That was a concern. Couldn't find him. - Good question from Adam here, Colesy 93, is Lindsay a play over Rauston? So. - Probably. Lindsay's not gonna play low time on ground. - And he's gonna do his back line stuff, which at some point should be there. You can get out of that with a bit of death status later on. - You could. - 550K. I still think with people like Christmas Carol there, we can now just, we don't need him. We can just bump that price. Yep, stay away from that price. - All right. Raw's a, cordwell is very low in ownership. Can I still start him? - I wish I knew more about that line. - This is the island thing. - Yeah. - I don't think he's gonna be burned, but I don't think it's gonna be a knockout pick. So therefore, are you? - I remember he was a real buzz name when the game opened up like undercreated a status. - Is it him that did it? - No, it must have been other content creators that are constantly doing this. - No, everyone was talking about him. - The CBA one. - Yeah, which a probably style of someone else. - Yeah. - You probably did it. - Colesy, that's the way it works in this community. - Have we never get anything stolen? - I'm saying no, 4% too risky. - We sort of don't know what they're doing either. Like is Merritt half forward? Or is that just a thing in the preseason? He'll be back in bulk CBAs and cordwell takes a hit. Parish, what's he doing? - Yeah. Too many question marks probably. No for me, but wouldn't surprise me if he's good. - Quick fire here for Luke. - Sinclair or Gordon? - Gordon. - Quick fire. - Gordon, get your brains going. - Sorry. - Rastin or Broin? - Broin. - Broin. - Robert's or Josh Daikos? - That's a great question. - It's Daikos got a couple of dollars on him, I'd say. - Yeah, he actually. - Yeah, he does, but he's also got his cash.
generating and a rapid rate. - For a rapid. - I'll probably go Roberts because he doesn't have a buy, a bit cheaper and he'll get a game versus the Saints at some stage too. - And the last one is Poo, Butterwick. And it's Butterwick every day of the way. - Every day for that one. - Yep. - All right, who else have we got here? - Trap or Treet gets thrown in here now. The brand. Dan Houston. - Massive trap. - Is a three definition of a trap. - This is so much Dan Houston. - The K-man, Hatham, is he a trap. - Trap or Treet, it's a brand there, K-man. - Oh no. - It's taken off. - It's taken off right. - It's a look, I'm not doing it. - That guy, this is quite a line in the sand moment considering the game hasn't even started. It's an outlier. - Yeah, Houston. - Yeah. - You want to get this one right. - I feel like he hasn't even been invited to training. - He hasn't turned up. - He didn't ever get an invite. The fact he was moving well was a tick. - I don't know. - A little on a 120. - Oh, I'm a no. - Right. I'd love you a confidence with your no. - That's very, I need more of that because, is it Rodney? - He's really throwing me off. (laughing) - That's Rattle Jack. - That's cool. - Cool about Windhagger versus Walsh. - Oh. - Windy's so much cheaper than Walsh. - Windy's not getting tagged, Walsh is. - I can't believe I'm even thinking along these lines, but Windy's got access to more easy points than Walsh. - Wow. - I can't say it. - Hong Kong. - Walsh is my boy. - Walsh there. - Walsh, yep. - Hey, Mish, can we afford to go more guns and rookies this year with the amount of rookies we have? - At this stage, yes. - I'm trying to. - My team, just through the content that we do, is very mid-priced and I don't like it. So over this week, I will be being a bit more ruthless. - Yes. All right, is that enough? I think it is, we will be back on Thursday when we go live, Kale. This will be 615 every Thursday night. You'll be able to tune in via afl.com.au or the afl live app and we'll be bringing you the teams. And there are none more important than the round one team because we want to know who's named. That's one part of it. But also, if someone's not there, that you were sort of banking on and the rookie staff now, we've probably across the rookies well enough now. - I think so. - Yeah. - That we don't need to jump at someone that hasn't just put their hand up in the last few weeks. - Yeah. - I feel like we know our rookies better than we ever have. - You don't have to find out more about them? - I will be reading this one. - It's good. - And it's a ranking, you see a list. - I love how you're doing. - You don't have to agree with it either. - Where do you have Sharp Dawson? - Yeah, he's low. He's not in my side at the moment. - Okay. - Do you guys have him? - No. - No. - So he is ended up, I've gone. I think you'll play, but I've got Jagger, Carol, Dersmer, Blomoye as a head. - Mm-hmm. - Yeah, but this is where I'm unsure. - Of course. - Sharp and Watkins. - Oh yes. - So the poor Adelaide, mature age. - Okay. - 'Cause he's there. If he's there. - He's another one. - That's very interesting. - Yep. - Isn't it? - Mm. - Too raged. - There's a couple of two, three, one, then. - Cut, turn the nose up over there. - Yep, so we'll be live then. Other stuff just stay tuned at afer.com.au. DJ will be across everything. The Ultimate Fantasy Guide is there, which has links to basically everything that we've done. Go through it. It's pretty impressive to see all the work that we have done this year. Go back and listen to some of the podcasts. Anyway, boys, it has been one hell of a preseason. - No, not totally over yet. - But this is the last podcast. - Oh. - Before Thursday night. - Let's get me in a little bit of motion. (laughs) - And very nervous too. - Very nervous. - Very sure. - Well, we're all, thanks, ladies, for tuning in. Good luck this week. FAQs
A same-game multi allows you to combine multiple betting legs within a single match for higher odds, such as predicting a player's disposals, hit-outs, and goals.
The lockout starts at the beginning of each round, typically on Thursday night, and once a game begins, players from those teams are locked in your fantasy team.
You have around 50 trades throughout the season to adjust your team, making strategic trading crucial for success.
The games were notably fast-paced, with higher average scores and increased disposals compared to previous seasons, likely due to rule changes.
Errol Gulden scored 126 points, Brodie Grundy had a strong second half for 106, and Christian Petracca delivered an epic 121-point performance.
Focus on rookies with good scoring potential and secure roles, like Jagger who scored 82, and avoid those with low time on ground or inconsistent opportunities.
