I'm René Boo and I was there too. That is why I spent years studying the psychology of behavior change and became a certified, brain-based life coach. In this podcast, we'll use strategies based in neuroscience and God's word to empower you to break free from frustrations, manage your mind and create a life of purpose and intention. It's time to get unstuck, thrive in every area of your life and step into the abundant life you were made for. Hey, welcome to the podcast. And excited for our next episode in this series that we're doing called Renew and Rewire. So if you are new, welcome. This is a series that we have been doing to literally rewire our brains using the biblical principle of Romans 12 to where God says we can be transformed by renewing the way we think. If you want to know more about the biblical truths behind this practice and if you want to know the deep dive into the neuroscience, the neuroplasticity, what's really happening in your brain when we do this, then you will want to go check out episode 65. I put the link in the show notes, but that is the one where I really dive in deep to the why behind all of this. I don't know if you're like me, but I want to know why? Why are we doing this? What is really happening in the spiritual, but also physically in my body that is making this practice so powerful. So you can go check out episode 65 if you're like me. And if you just want to jump in and you've been here for a few weeks or you're like, you know what, I just want to try this, then you can just keep this name and we're going to dive into this practice. And before we get started, I just want to make you aware of a couple of resources. First, if you would like to have a principle of the format of this meditation, you can go to Renee Boo dot com slash renew. That's our e in e b o e dot com slash renew and download a PDF that has the foundational piece or components of the meditation. Now each week, if you've been here, well, if you're new, you're going to grab that. So go get it. And then when you come back, what we do is we do these once a week and the goal is for you to listen every day, that week to the one that drops on Sunday. Now sometimes I change things up based on what I feel like God is leading us into. So the download is going to have the foundation, like the main core parts of the practice, but there may be some differences when you listen. And that's okay. But I know some people like to have something in their hand tangible that they can walk through as they do this. So go grab that PDF, Renee Boo dot com slash renew link is in the show notes as well. Last thing I want to bring to your attention before we dive into this is if you are liking this practice, if you are noticing a difference in your life when you work with your brain, and you would like to do this customized to you, you want to figure out what's keeping you stuck, whether it's in habits you're trying to build a goal you're trying to set or maybe a big purpose goal that you want to step into, but you keep getting stuck or you don't follow through or you're just not where you want to be, then I would suggest that you would go get on my coaching list. You go to Renee Boo dot com, our in eb o e b o o e dot com. Boo has an e on the end of it. That's really what I need you to know. Go to Renee Boo dot com and apply for coaching and we can work on anything that is keeping you stuck and we will do it from a biblical perspective using your brain to help you figure out what's keeping you stuck, rewire the brain, and then take action steps toward that thing you're working towards. Now, when you go and apply for coaching, that does not automatically get you in the door. It's actually an application process and also I may not have spots available, but depending on when you're listening to this, at the time that this is airing, I only have one spot available. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go apply because my clients will graduate in a few weeks or some in a few months. So you want to be on that coaching list and how you get on the coaching wait list is to apply and that way when the spot does open, you can get access to it if through the application process. You are a good candidate for coaching. So go get on the wait list, go apply for coaching, Renee Boo dot com so that we can get you working with your brain specifically and the things that are keeping you stuck so you can break free and go do all those amazing things God has called you to do. All right, so we are going to go ahead and start this practice. Now, you can get a journal and do this with a pen and paper. If you have the PDF, go ahead and get that out and you can walk through it that way. If you are driving or washing dishes or walking, you can just do this with in your brain, just with the thoughts, just thinking the thoughts alone is part of the process that will still rewire the brain. I do believe there's a lot of power in writing, a lot of scientific evidence behind that too, but if you can't, it's okay. Something is better than nothing at all. We're going to start and this time I'm actually going to leave in a 90 second pauses for each section. So if you've listened to before, I haven't always done that. I've said go ahead and pause me. This time because I got a suggestion from one of you awesome listeners who found me on Facebook and messaged me. Thanks Nicole. She suggested what does it look like to put in a 90 second pause. So I'm going to try that today and we'll test it. Now if you want more time, more than 90 seconds to do each section, then just pause me. But we're going to test this and see. Now, if you have feedback or you have things that you're loving on these meditations or any of the podcasts, come find me on Instagram @ReneBoo. Tell me. I'm happy to try to customize these and play with these and open to your suggestions. So I'm going to try this suggestion that Nicole sent me and you guys let me know what you think. I'm going to start us today with prayer. God, we thank you so much that you are with us in every moment of our day. So right now we just pause and we invite you in. Come be so near. Be the loudest voice we hear as we spend time with you, as we renew our minds, as we think on things that are lovely and admirable and praiseworthy. And you do the deeper work of changing us, of transforming us. We're here and we are excited to meet with you in Jesus' name. Amen. We're going to start our first practice with gratitude. We are going to do what I call 24 hour gratitude. This is when you're going to reflect on something from the past 24 hours that you're grateful for. This can be little like the smell of your coffee that's sitting in front of you or the comfort of your favorite sweatshirt you have on or it can be something big like a provision God had for you today. It doesn't matter. You get to decide but take the next 90 seconds to write a list of things you're grateful for within the past 24 hours. Thank you. [ Silence ] [ Silence ] [ Silence ]
[BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] [BLANK_AUDIO] We're going to do another new section, and this one I'm calling expose. So here, I want you to write down all the negative things you think about yourself. I want you to expose the lies, the negative beliefs, the thoughts that aren't serving you. And second Corinthians 10, 5, it says, we demolish arguments in every pretense that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. And we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. So as lovely it is to be able to declare what we carry. If we don't acknowledge the things that we think about that are negative or not lovely or helpful about ourselves, they're still going to be there under the surface. So we're going to get real practical, and we are going to expose the thoughts that come up for you. Now maybe when you are writing down the good things you carry, some thoughts already came up. And if they did, those are going to be a great starting place. But take the next 90 seconds. Let God love on you as He just highlights the thoughts that you're thinking about yourself that aren't true. Or that aren't true anymore, maybe they're your past. Or that are just not kind and you don't need to keep repeating them. Get honest about this, get ruthless about this, like get a amount on paper, and you can throw this away when you're done today. You don't have to keep them out. Sometimes we don't really want to admit all the thoughts we think about ourselves. But if they're in there, they're creating neural pathways that become beliefs and we don't need to partner with them anymore. So take 90 seconds and expose the thoughts that are against your God, give an identity, and aren't kind. Get them out. You have none.
