Hi everyone, welcome back to Every Day English Talk, the podcast where we help you practice English for daily life. I'm Anna. And I'm Ben. Thanks for joining us again. Whether you're walking, cooking, or just relaxing at home, we're happy you're here. Today's topic is very simple but very useful. How was your day? Yes, we're going to have a natural conversation about our day. Our morning till night. This is great for English beginners who want to learn how to describe daily activities. And at the end, we'll give you some easy vocabulary and phrases that you can use when talking about your own day. Okay, ready? Let's get started. So Anna, let's start with the morning. What time did you wake up today? Today, I woke up around 7.15 a.m. That's a good time, not too early, not too late. Yeah, but honestly, I wanted to stay in bed longer. I was really sleepy. Me too. I woke up at 6.30 a.m. but I hit the snooze button twice. Classic. Did you feel tired? A little bit. But I drank coffee right after I got up. That helped. What did you have for breakfast? Hmm, I had cereal with milk and a banana, easy and fast. That sounds healthy. I had toast with butter and some orange juice. Nice. Do you usually eat breakfast at home? Yes, almost every day. I don't like skipping breakfast, it gives me energy. Same here. I feel grumpy if I don't eat in the morning. After breakfast, I took a quick shower and got dressed. Then I checked my phone for messages. Yeah, I always check my phone to emails WhatsApp Instagram. Social media is the first thing many people check. So how was your work day today? Not too bad. I had two Zoom meetings in the morning. We discussed a new project at work. That sounds interesting. What's the project about? It's a marketing campaign for a new product launch next month. Wow. Busy times ahead. Yeah, and you been? How was your work day? Hmm. It was okay. I had a lot of emails to reply to and I also wrote a short report for my manager. Do you like writing reports? Honestly, not really. It takes time, but it's part of the job. I understand. By the way, did you take a lunch break? Yes. Around 12.30 pm, I went to a small cafe near my office. What did you eat? I had chicken rice and a cup of iced tea. Simple but delicious. Yum. I stayed home for lunch. I cooked some fried noodles with vegetables. Nice. Do you like cooking? Yes, but only easy recipes. Same here. After lunch, I had another meeting and then I worked on some documents. I spent the afternoon checking emails and finishing my presentation for tomorrow. You're busy. Are you ready for tomorrow? Almost. I'll review it again tonight. Did you have any free time in the afternoon? A little. Around 3.30 pm, I took a short break. I made a cup of tea and listened to some music. That sounds relaxing. What kind of music? Soft acoustic songs. It helps me feel calm. Nice. I took a short walk outside. Just around the block. The weather was really hot though. Yeah. Today is super hot. I stayed inside with the air conditioner on full power. Smart choice! I felt sweaty after just 10 minutes outside. Did you see many people outside? Not really. Maybe people are staying home because of the heat. Good idea. Summer days can be tough. So after work, what did you do? I finished work at around 5.30 pm. After that, I decided to do some yoga at home. That's great. How long did you practice? About 30 minutes, just stretching and breathing exercises. It helps me relax after sitting all day. That's a good idea. I should try yoga too. You should. What about you? What did you do after work? I went grocery shopping. I needed to buy eggs, bread, and some fruits. What fruits did you buy? Bananas and apples, easy snacks. Ooh. What did you make? Good choices. After yoga, I started cooking dinner. I made chicken curry with rice. It turned out pretty good. Wow, that sounds delicious. I just made instant noodles again. Hey, nothing wrong with that. Quick and easy. After dinner, I watched an episode of my favorite show on Netflix. Which show? A comedy series called Brooklyn 9/9. It's really funny. I love that show too. Then I did some light reading before recording this podcast with you. Me too. I reviewed our topic notes before we started. So overall, how do you feel about your day? Honestly, it was a good day. Not too stressful. I finished my work, did some yoga, and had a nice dinner. That's great. For me, it was a little busy but also productive. I replied to all my emails, finished my report, and got some fresh air. That's awesome. I feel like talking about our day like this also helps us notice the good moments. Exactly. Even small things like having good food or enjoying music. Right? And for all of you listening, take a moment to think about your day too. What time did you wake up? What did you eat? What did you do for work or school? And how do you feel now? Happy? Tired? Relaxed? If you want, you can speak out loud and practice your English. Just like having a conversation with a friend. Yes. Or you can write it down in a notebook. Or send us a message. Tell us how was your day. Before we finish, let's quickly review some useful phrases from today's conversation. Good idea. Here we go. I woke up at. For breakfast I had. I went to work, worked from home. I had a meeting, I wrote a report. I checked emails. For lunch, I ate. After work, I went to the gym, cook dinner, watch TV. Overall my day was. You can use these sentences to talk about your day anytime. That's right. The more you speak, the more confident you will feel. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect. Just practice. And now, here's a little challenge for you. We invite you to listen the conversation again, from the beginning. While you're listening, try to catch these useful phrases. Can you hear when we said them? Also, listen for any new words or expressions you didn't know before. You can even pause the podcast and repeat the sentences out loud. That's a great way to improve your listening and speaking at the same time. And if you want, write down 3 sentences about your own day using these phrases. Hmm. Today I woke up around 7.15 am.
