President Trump delivered a speech in front of thousands of world leaders and diplomats gathered in New York this morning. Here's Daily Wire contributor Tim Pierce with the latest. President Trump spoke this morning to mark the first day of the 2026 U.N. General Assembly. Part of the president's speech covered the war in Iran with Iranian diplomats in the crowd. He said he believes a deal will be reached after midterms. Will a deal be made? With Iran? That lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before. Maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world. Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic? The top issue for the General Assembly is AI and the risks around restricting or encouraging its development. The president has endorsed a hands-off approach to regulation in order to outpace China. This morning, Trump said he is changing the term artificial intelligence to something he believes is more accurate. We have to be careful. The president also went directly at the U.N. Human Rights Council for ignoring the persecution of Christians around the world. The craven hypocrites of Human Rights Council have little to say about the persecution of Christians. I mean, Christians are being persecuted all over the world. It's not even believable. I never thought I'd say it. But it's been happening for a long time. So this is persecution of Christians or the crimes of the world's most repressive. Regimes, yet they want America to open up our borders to gangs and criminals from world's most dangerous places. President Trump signed a deal today to put U.S. military infrastructure on Greenland. The deal falls short of full acquisition of Greenland, which Trump had signaled an interest in, but it accomplishes the same strategic goals of protecting the mainland against Russian aggression. Leaders from Greenland and Denmark also heralded the deal, with Greenland's prime minister saying, your security is our security and our security. The Danish prime minister said the deal represents a milestone in our longstanding cooperation. Under the deal, the U.S. gets permanent, unrestricted access to the land, air, and sea to build military installments and implement security protocols. The Pentagon is overhauling its system for promoting up-and-coming officers to be next generals and admirals. In a video statement released on social media, Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth said the goal was to ensure future leadership was selected by warfighters. "The new system is dubbed the Joint Warfighting Evaluation and it involves hours-long wargame simulations against an adversary that reacts to decisions in real time. Many in the military have critiqued the current system for rewarding career management and internal connections over competency. The new system will begin early next year." The city of Austin is preparing to direct nearly $855,000 in taxpayer funds to two non-profits that provide legal services to immigrants facing deportation. Immigration reporter Ginny Tehr has the story. The funding would cover attorneys, immigration court assistance, work authorization applications, and federal filing fees, and comes days after an ICE officer in Austin shot a Venezuelan migrant who had a final removal order. Austin has funded similar legal defense programs since 2019, directing roughly $3.4 million to American gateways alone, while a similar Harris County program was frozen after the Texas Supreme Court raised constitutional questions about using local taxpayer money to fund deportation defense. Meanwhile, Austin protesters spray-painted threats to kill President Trump and ICE officers after Sunday's ICE-involved shooting. Texas DPS responded as protests erupted. Stanford University junior Billy Ramirez was shocked to discover that a photo of himself and two friends had been used for a dining hall advertisement. But with one big change. The school's dining and entertainment department had apparently used AI to swap Billy out for a black woman, which was first reported on by the Stanford Review, which published a side-by-side of the original and the altered image. Ramirez said he found it funny at first, but later felt upset because, quote, "I don't agree with Stanford making those choices about how we're represented. I felt silenced and erased from a representation that was supposed to include me." The AI had also been used to make one of Billy's classmates an Asian. "I don't think I've ever seen an Asian woman appear noticeably thinner." Neither Stanford nor its dining and entertainment department have responded to the incident. Reporter and host of That's So Criminal, Lyndon Blake, has the details. District Attorney Angel Myers McElrath announced the grand jury's findings this morning. Wells' death and the discovery of his body set off a firestorm online. Conspiracists pointed fingers at three of Wells' friends in particular. Three white men who were some of the last to see Wells, who was Black, alive. McElrath pointedly said that the grand jury report on Wells' death debunked those accusations. The death of Nolan Wells has devastated our community. Outsiders and influencers have attempted to exploit Nolan's death to divide and create chaos here. The narrative that three white boys and a Black boy went to an island and only three white friends returned spread like wildfire. This was false. Nolan went to Horn Island on July 4th, 2026 with a large group of friends. And while on the island, he connected with even more friends. There is absolutely no evidence to support the allegations that Nolan's disappearance and death were racially motivated. Local authorities have said that Wells' death appears to have been from drowning, though authorities are still waiting for the results of an autopsy and toxicology report. There is no further information on the cause of the death of Nolan and his family members. Vance said the administration was aware of similar allegations and would review the Planned Parenthood claims based on the evidence. And the White House has launched Trump TV, a 24-7 YouTube stream featuring President Trump's speeches, administration events, and other official footage. This comes just days after Trump barred reporters from CNN, Politico, and MSNOW from the White House. The inaugural broadcast featured Trump's July 4th remarks at Mount Rushmore, while the channel's promotional material says it will bring the administration's biggest moments together in one place and update continuously. The launch comes as the three news outlets sue the administration over the press restrictions, while Trump has defended the bans by accusing the networks of repeatedly publishing fake news.
