The Melania Brokard ceasefire takes effect a libertarian Senate candidate taunts cops over X while being hunted by police, and more than 60 Christians are murdered in an Ethiopian massacre. I'm DailyWire executive editor John Bickley, Georgia Howe, is off today. It's Tuesday, October 27th. This is EveningWire. A temporary ceasefire brokard by first lady Melania Trump between Russia and Ukraine takes effect today in the Russia-occupied townable Leshky, opening a window for humanitarian aid and civilian evacuations. Contributor Tim Pierce has more. The truth is scheduled to last through Saturday, allowing a mission to deliver food, medicine, and other supplies before establishing an evacuation corridor for roughly 2000 residents trapped by drone attacks and landmines. Melania Trump negotiated the agreement with support from Pope Leo XIV, describing the town as "on the brink of disaster." Meanwhile, Russian attacks continue elsewhere in Ukraine, with local officials reporting that a missile strike on a key university campus killed at least one person and injured 12. The ceasefire comes ahead of planned US-Ukraine Russia peace talks next month in Abu Dhabi. The UK Crown Prosecution Service said today that two men have been charged in connection with last month's incident near RAF Fairford. The arabase had recently been used by the US to launch attacks against Iran. The two suspects are British nationals and London residents. The first suspect, Mamed Abdul Karim, was hit with charges related to assisting a foreign intelligence service, while the second suspect, Newman Ezgar, was charged with entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the UK. Turnout for the latest Israeli election reached record levels today as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tries to stave off a coalition united around ousting him. The opposition block is led by former military chief Gotti Eisenkott. The election's central issue has been national security. Netanyahu's critics have hammered him on the security failures around the October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists, who killed 1,200 people and took hundreds of hostages, including Americans. The latest polling suggests that neither block is on track to secure a majority to form a government, likely requiring rounds of negotiations to create a ruling coalition. More than 60 Christians have been killed in Ethiopia and what church officials are calling a massacre. Reporter Megan Basham has more. Details are still coming in, but what we do know is that over the past few days, at least three areas within Ethiopia's Aromia region have been attacked by one or more militant groups, apparently targeting members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, one of the oldest branches of Christianity in the world. Local officials have blamed the attacks on members of a newly formed separatist group known as the Alliance for Survival. Church officials say that at least 20 homes have been burned down and at least 60 of their members have been killed, five of which were children. Government security forces reportedly arrived on the scene, but were unable to stop the attacks. The Ethiopian Human Rights Council described these attacks as religiously motivated and part of a string of violence against Christians in the region. Over the past four years, militant groups have killed a reported 458 members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. These new attacks have been the deadliest to date. Foreign scammers are responsible for hundreds of fake robberies across the country, all part of a national scheme to obtain visas for thousands of immigrants. That's according to the Department of Justice. Thousands of people paid 29-year-old Parth Nyee, at least $5,000 each, to stage a robbery at a gas station to qualify them for non-immigrant UVs. Those are visas reserved for foreign nationals who aid law enforcement. At least one of Nyee's frauds resulted in real violence when in 2023 a store clerk was shot in the stomach. A federal judge last week sentenced Nyee to two years in prison and a $50,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit visa fraud. Truth is under attack. Lies about gender and the sanctity of life still dominate in our culture, threatening American's rights, your rights. Alliance defending freedom is fighting in court rooms around the country for your freedom to speak and live the truth. But they rely on friends like you to do this work. FBI agents rated the Beverly Hills mansion of billionaire Steven Klubek today as part of the federal investigation into disgraced former congressman Eric Swalwell. Klubek was previously one of Swalwell's biggest backer spending more than $1 million to support his failed run for governor and even letting him stay at his mansion. Klubek kicked Swalwell out after multiple women, including former staffers accused the Democrat of sexual assault, and has since said, quote, "I am no longer associated with a man that takes advantage of women." Swalwell has denied wrongdoing, but he resigned from congress and dropped out of the governor's race soon after the allegations surfaced. A bizarre drama played out online yesterday as an armed North Carolina libertarian party candidate live tweeted as he was pursued through the woods by police. Reporter Drew Berkmeyer has the story. Jonathan D Miller, the libertarian nominee for the state's 16th Senate district, posted concerning statements online leading to a police welfare check. When officers approached Miller fled into the woods with a revolver. During the pursuit, Miller continued to post online, giving updates on the chase. His posts included, "The whole police department is chasing me with guns drawn. This should be fun, as well as I've got six shots and the high ground. I hope they don't find me, but if they do, it's going to be a hell of a show." Miller was also in contact with a local news station mid pursuit. Miller was eventually brought into police custody unharmed, following a chase that lasted more than six hours. Endless reactions to the drama online all seem to center around one theme that Miller has certainly lived up to his libertarian bonafides. A detransition clinic has officially opened in Texas at a hospital that previously performed ginger procedures on miners, investigative reporter Meg Brock reports. Texas Children's Hospital opened the nation's first detransition clinic on Monday, offering free medical care to patients seeking to reverse gender treatments, following a landmark $10 million settlement over the hospital's treatment of miners. Former Texas Children's Nurse and Whistleblower, Vanessa Civage announced the clinic's opening, celebrating the victory after exposing the hospital's transgender medical practices. Civage wrote Monday, "I think of all the detransitioners who have suffered in silence, been dismissed, and fought desperately to have their voices heard. This win is for them." Now, Senate candidate Ken Paxton led the charge to end the hospital's transition program in his position as Attorney General, as well as exposing their use of taxpayer funds through Medicare via fall-stagnastic codes. The new detransition clinic is part of the hospital's settlement with the state. The Federal Trade Commission and 20 states are suing dollar general, alleging the discount chain repeatedly overcharged customers at checkout while advertising lower prices on shelves and in-store promotions. The lawsuit claims the company received tens of thousands of customer complaints and continued the practice despite years of warnings, generating millions of dollars. and unlawful overcharges. The agency is seeking a permanent injunction, monetary judgment, and civil penalties. For its part, Dollar General says it's cooperated with the investigation, submitted more than 200,000 documents, and tried to negotiate a settlement before the FTC filed sue. And in some Halloween news, Hammer Films is resurrecting one of horror cinema's classics, associate producer Garrett Fanteam as the scoop. Hammer Films is releasing a newly restored 4K version of its 1958 film Dracula starring Christopher Lee in the titular role. And it comes with more than three minutes of footage long thought to be lost. The scenes survived in the film's original Japanese theatrical version, which escaped the cuts imposed by British and American censors. But the footage remained missing for decades until Warner Bros. discovered pristine reels in its archives. The restored version brings back the graphic violence, including extended scenes of Dracula attacking his victims and meeting his bitter end in the sunlight. Hammer's new owner, theater and prasario John Gore, is also investing in the studio's future, restoring its back catalog and producing new horror films. It's upcoming original, Ithaca starring Luke Hemsworth and drawing on indigenous Canadian mythology is currently screening at Film Festivals.
