Episode 8: The Three Forces of Nature And Their Influences on Our Mind
50m 44s
The podcast "Mental Hygiene" introduces the ancient yogic concept of the three modes of nature—goodness, passion, and ignorance—as subtle forces that govern the universe and influence all living beings. These forces shape mental states, behaviors, and lifestyles. For example, dietary preferences reflect these modes: fresh, life-giving food aligns with goodness; aggressive or overly stimulating food with passion; and processed, stale food with ignorance. Similarly, one's living environment and work attitude are affected, where a clean, peaceful space fosters goodness, while clutter and chaos reflect passion or ignorance. The key to mental hygiene is recognizing these influences and consciously cultivating the mode of goodness through choices in diet, habitat, and duty. By performing one's work with dedication while detaching from results, and by creating surroundings that promote peace, individuals can stabilize their minds, overcome the competing forces, and reconnect with their inner stillness and true nature.
Welcome to Mental Hygiene, a space to care for the mind like we care for the body, daily, gently and with love. Posted by Yogi Chiruru and Susan Huu, this podcast brings ancient Yogi wisdom into modern life, offering practical tools to cleanse the mental clutter, restore inner stillness, and reconnect with your true self. Take a breath, you're exactly where you need to be. Welcome to Mental Hygiene. Welcome, everyone. This is Mental Hygiene. My name is Susan and I'm with my teacher, Yogi Chiruru. Today we're going to speaking about the three incredible forces that's constantly pushing all of us, influencing all of us in this world. And we hope you can stay tuned and join us in this interesting discussion. Yes, welcome, everyone. I am Yogi Chiruru. Nice to be here with you all again. We will explore the mind and the three forces that prevents the universe and we being a so set of the universe, these three forces are constantly affecting our mental state. So everyone wants to have a piece of mind. To get a piece of mind, we have to understand how the forces are working with us. And everyone of us who are also looking for happiness and according to this Yogi philosophy, the way that we're looking for happiness is also influenced by the same three different kind of forces. The first one in a mode of passion, which I personally experience it quite often, when I really crave that we deserve to go for it. By the way, I received that happiness. If I overdo it later on, I know I'm going to pay for that action. And from a Yogi's perspective, this is mode of passion, that's ruling us. And then sometimes if I say I really wanted to improve myself, I put into the hard work waking up early to a certain type of practice at the very beginning, these kind of practice feel so hard. But when at the end, I'm able to receive that sweetness. And according to the Yogi philosophy, this is happiness in a mode of goodness. And there are also times when I'm just on my phone scrolling, scrolling, thinking that can give me happiness. And before I know it, two hours passed by, I didn't do anything. My eyes are tired. My mind's distracted. That's the mode of ignorance. Happiness that I think can bring me joy. But at the beginning to the end, it's really just suffering. So these three forces, they're constantly pulling us. Yogi Charyu, can you break down a little bit and tell us a little bit about what are really these three forces that's constantly influencing us in this world? So the great reaches, they understood this universe is governed by forces or laws. In the Western world, we say laws, right? But we're cultured there and natural forces. So force means it's done with energy. Something is in motion, right? And so there are subtle laws and there are physical laws you can see. There are some of the laws, subtle laws which we don't see, but we know they're there, such as the law of gravity. No one sees the law of gravity. You know, you don't jump out of a window. You won't go up. You won't go up. Then there's the law of time, the force of time. No time, but time pushes us on. Our body is ancient, ancient, oh Lord, I want to stop that. No, you can't. It's a force, right? A force of time. We call these subtle laws that we are living by. So a lot of time people say, oh, I want free will. What is free will? When you come in the universe, you are given a certain level of free will according to this species that you take. You get, if the soul enters the body of a bird, it has to act like a bird and act like a bird. It has the free will to fly. The great analogy they reach is used with free will so people can understand is, okay. We have a donkey or a mule or a car or a bull. And then there's a stick and a bull. And then they know there's a ring and there's a ring that has a rope to the peg. So the bull has free will to go as far as the length of that rope. Because it can't go up, it has free will to go this far and that far. So when you get a certain body and free will, you want to use your free will, you can only use it within the laws that is, that your body is engineer. So with our human body, with the, our free will, if we jump out of a window, we won't be, we won't be like a bird. But love, gravity will act upon us differently than it acts upon a bird. So with our free will, I can go in the ocean and I can hold my breath for a while. But the fish, they have a different, with their free will, they have a different amount of free will. They can breathe under the ocean. But if they come on the land, struggle. So, so according to the species, you have certain free will to a certain degree, but not, or I'm free to do any, no, no, there's limitation by the laws of nature, the forces of nature. The, the, the, how the yogis understood the way God engineered this universe, he engineered it intelligently with these laws and according to the species. So the three modes are three powerful forces, we say you, you are using the mode of goodness, the mode of passion, the mode of ignorance. These are three forces, which pervades every centimeter of this universe. However big this universe is millions of miles, why millions of miles tall, you will find these three forces. On the ants has been influenced from the three modes, up to a human, up to the devas, there have been influenced by the three modes of nature. And then when Krishna introduced this understanding of the forces to Arjuna and the Gita, he just doesn't list them, he says, these three forces are constantly in competition with each other to be dominant. So we can see, wait, time is pushing us on, pushing us power, gravity is pulling on us, and along with those two, there's three more subtle forces. And they're trying to control our mind. So when I wrote my book, Mental Hygiene, I introduced people to the three modes of nature first to show them how the three modes of nature influence our senses, influence our senses, they influence our mental state. Amazing, these are the three subtle forces that even though we don't physically see them, but we know that they're just like gravity, just like the force of time is constantly influencing all of us. And not just our human bodies, but I could say you'll be sure every single one in this universe, every living entity is all being pulled by those three different forces and they're competing with each other. That's why sometimes in the morning when we wake up, we might be more influenced by one of the forces. And in the afternoon, maybe a different one starts to come up. It's a constant practice in a way. How do we find the balance? And hopefully again and again, return back to that mode that's bringing us closer to the peaceful of our minds to who we truly are underneath those different layers of us. So what is the mode of goodness? So out into the traditional way of defining it. The mode of goodness then is a force which when it overrides your consciousness, you raise there certain symptoms that comes with the mode of goodness. And that one of those symptoms is peacefulness. One is cleanliness. Very clean. Someone is, you can see someone might not know the philosophy of the three modes. But when you look at someone, you can see, oh wow, that person is very peaceful. That person is very passionate. That person is very lethargic. Totally. Who are to go to those three people's homes? What will you see? The person who is peaceful, their homes will be very clean. Absolutely. You go to the person who is very passionate. Their house will be very chaos in there. Very cluttered. A lot of clutter. And then you go to the first and who is
is very lethargic. They mold this smell, it's like tamper and drainage, right? You can cause the three modes are upon you and they don't just act just like that. They pervade your lifestyle. And that's why cleanliness. Then if you're in the mode of let's take a big, big thing we do in human form, where all species are, is eaten, right? So if you're in a good mess, you'll be attracted to eating fresh food. Food that gives you life. Food that energizes you. Food that is non-violent. If you're not a passion, you will get attracted to passionate food. Violent food, food that was is put on your playthrough by your lips. You eat that, it goes into your mind, keeps the passion. Absolutely. Again, you become more aggressive because the food was aggressively. The energy in that food is being consumed by the body and transforming to who we are. And then if you're in tamas in the mode of ignorance, then you'll be attracted to processed food or food that's in a can around plastic on the shelf for six months, one year, it's still there. And then you go on your diet and you eat that, that's so much preservative. The life in the food has disappeared. You're not really getting a lot of energy. You're getting minimal energy, but more toxins in your body. So if you're, so depending on the mode, you will eat a cardinal. So that mode, that's your in, the force that's pulling you the most at that moment. Yeah. And then, so if you're starting the process, you're coming to spiritual practice, you're trying to evolve. Right? If you are like, I grew up with a lot of processed food. I grew up, you know, I came from a developing country. So a lot of canned food was there. I had to, and then also rajasic food, ladam, I grew up eating meat. But then as I started evolving, I stood with this keeps my mind violent. This keeps me lethargic. I don't want to get up and, okay, so then I transformed. I wanted to eat food in the mode of goodness gave me prana, fresh life. Totally. And then I, and I would see it affect my practice. Even at that young age, I was like 16. As I switched from, became a vegetarian. Yeah, from the process food and the I would practice differently. My practice was not go, go, go, my to my degree. I appreciate where I am today. Keep evolving. So much more grace. So yeah. So even my yoga asan practice change. Right? Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, I can definitely relate to that with the food. Because growing up, I ate a lot of food in a mode of passion. A lot of me, a lot of animal products. And when I, when I first came to yoga, I mean, a yoga philosophy, I, the philosophy shifted. I decided I wanted to eat a more compassionate lifestyle of diet. And for me, that shift wasn't so much physically, but I noticed I was so much, I would say that I'm a much better person because of the way that I eat. I feel I definitely noticed a shift. I was a lot less anxious, a lot less angry. Once I changed the way that I eat and it became so much easier to be peaceful in the mind. And a lot of the explanation is pretty, even just from a pure physical perspective, the way that we eat some of the violent food, all the hormones, all the toxins that the animal products unfortunately contains. We consume and it becomes a part of us. And those chemicals influence us in that way. It's really in that mode of passion that's influencing us. And I become easily agitated, easily, you know, competitive, but not the best way. And once we're able to shift the way that I'm eating, that's where I get my energy. Then, of course, what's coming out is also becoming a lot more peaceful. Yes, yes. And, you know, on this part, when you start out, because the three modes are competing. So when you start out, you might, oh yeah, I'll be a vegetarian. And then I'll have a certain two weeks in. Oh Lord, I love my meat. I get in the mode of passion comes back in. And then I'm a certain, oh man, I just love that casual look. So they're competing, right? So auto late. Yeah. So you see people go up and down and we see it. Okay, do we understand that's a process until you evolve more and more in the mode of goodness, then you stay in the mode of goodness. Right? Otherwise, if you do one thing in the mode of goodness and something is in the mode of passion, we're evolving. That would have been sustainable. Yeah. It's not sustainable. Gradually, gradually. So we we inspire people. Okay, be vegetarian, treat us a week, start out like that first. And then as you start to see how your body change and your mind change, it's easier to go to it full time because it's an experience. It's auto late. Yeah. Yeah. But come on. We said, no, see how it is. Try it out for a day or two days or treat it. And then see how you respond to people. See how you feel, see how you feel, then make a choice from your experience. And as you evolve, you get more and more attracted to the mode of goodness that way. Yeah. And also with the three modes of nature, they're constantly competing with each other. So also don't be too harsh on yourself. If you know, one day we feel like, okay, I'm having a really great day. Everything I'm doing is seen I'm out of goodness. The next day, I'm just becoming so competitive, so passionate about everything again. It's natural. It just means we still live in this world that's constantly being pulled by these three forces. Yes. And then we know another major aspect of the when we're getting when we get the human form engineered in it, then your habitat, the three modes, which three forces influence where you choose to live. If you live in a big city, it's guaranteed a lot of passion is in a city like say, you are, or I used to live in Hong Kong or a lot of passion. So then within the city, there is always the mode of goodness as well. So you have to find parks. You have to find, maybe you get a turn your apartment into the mode of goodness. You do it. The way you decorate it, you have some ambience sound, you get some natural sounds, you get some plants in it, the color how you paint it. You paint your room, you're in. Definitely a little mode of such a thing. Absolutely. You paint it like blue, light blue, and then the mind it affects your mind. So you can change your habitat. Even if you live in a business city, you can turn your home into a mode of goodness place. You go to some friends home. It's all flat. Okay. No, okay, I'll fix them up. Yeah, and the way that we live, because it's a two way thing, it's also because of the way that we are acting in our bodies, in our minds, we're mostly performing operating in those modes. We move our things around to create an environment that's in those modes of nature. But also when we are receiving those environment around us, there's also influence out of mind. So how do we find a balance where again and again, we can create a space that creates peace so that even in days when I'm feeling lethargic, when I'm feeling already passionate, when I come home, when I come to this sacred space, I can be reminded of, okay, now it's time to come down to return back to that inner peace. Yeah, and then if you're living in cities, then on your day off, go out to the beach. Each go, be with nature. This is how our ancestors used to live. But now we build cities and then everyone, this is the culture, everyone is in this, so on your day off, let's balance it. Let's get out, go to a place or a habitat. So in every city, there's always a place of spiritual upliftment places, right? But there is a church, a synagogue, a temple. And yoga studio, you can get to these places. And the more you spend time in those places, your mode of goodness will rise. Because when you go to those places of worship, hopefully, hopefully, there, you get the vibration, some vibration of universe, love and kindness and compassion and care for each other. So those
places do raise into the mode of goodness. And then the city will also have places with passion, right? It's also it's a hustle and bustle, right? People are moving up down just to make money and just do their duty and be busy. And then there's also going to be places in the city which is very tamasic, right? Like night clubs dark and then you know subway. Dreams are prana, right? You go ahead. It's like all my ears are hurting. I feel depressed. So yes, so your habitat is influenced by the three modes. So again, you will notice if you change one thing to the mode of goodness, it starts to affect your whole lifestyle. So don't be surprised. Oh, you don't want to go to the night club anymore. I don't want to go into time square anymore. You know, you want to do it when you need to like moderate, you know, you start to bring everything in moderation, but you start to spend more and more time in goodness. And the forces they are, yes, they influence so much our bodies, our minds influence the way we eat the way that we live, the places we live also influence the way that we work. When we are in that mode of goodness versus when we're in that passion and in that lethargic ignorance, the way we work, the way we look at our duties is also different. That's right. Like you're fearing the mode of goodness, the force of goodness is perfect. You're going to go to work and you're going to understand this is my duty. I need to give back my duty to my society, work duty for my family. I can maintain my family, duty right. And then you go in and you do your duty because you love, it's a gift you've been given. Whatever skill you were trained in school and so you have a career. So then you use that career and you are attached to showing up to work. You're attached to doing your work perfectly, but you are simultaneously detached from the results. I level of work in the mode of goodness because this is what makes you happy because sometimes in life you can do all the cross the teeth, the eyes and work and you get a letter of termination. And then sometimes you're struggling at the work and then you get a letter of promotion. This is the forces we don't understand. So do your duty. Go to work, work hard to maintain and then but then know that some days the results will be amazing, beautiful way you want. And some days it will be not the way you have to learn this is the law of this universe. So this is the mode of goodness to work. You're attached to your work, but attached to touch on the results. And if you can live like that, then every day you go to work, you do the duty results, come results go you are keeping your mental place in equilibrium in peace. If you don't do that and the mode of passion is overriding you, then you will go to work fruitively. You're doing it to get that result. And then some days you get that result and you're extremely happy. And then some days you're so fruity going and you do everything like you did yesterday and the result is the opposite. So what do you get to the same degree you got happy yesterday? Equally you get totally distressed today. So unhappy because you're so fruity. You think you are the doer. You think I did this yesterday and I'm going to but wait I did the same thing. No, so the mode of passion. So whenever you see someone in the mode of fashion at work, they'll be happy one day, unhappy the next day because they're attached to the results too. And then if you're going by the force of Thomas or ignorance, you will be lazy. You don't even care. You're not even attached to your work. Order results. Order results. You find someone help you get a job and then you show up for the first three days and then someone put in their best word for you to get the job. And then three, four days if hey someone sold it in shop for work. It is again and again in our culture. If someone can't keep a job long because they're not attached to work and they're not attached to their in the mode of Thomas. The force covers them. They're just living life in a era, fear where we say just whatever. So we see this all three in your work. So when you do your duty, let's come to that where you do your duty. You're attached to your service. You're attached but then you have to be detached from the results. And if you can live like this in all aspects of your work, your mind will be peaceful. That will be the perfection of life to be able to really know what's our duty, what's our nature in this life show fully but without being affected by the outcome. Yeah, there was. As a news and example for great king and king Yudhisthir, he's the key rules, his amazing kingdom. And then when he heard that Krishna went back to the spiritual, he was like, okay, my time here is finished. He was attached to his duty. But then when he heard Krishna live, he already trained someone, his grandson, to take it over. So he was ready to let it go. That's the mode of goodness. Today, when we have that in our culture, we call it retirement, right? You work long and then you, okay, my time is here. My body is aged, time to give it over to someone else. But today, I have some. Very attached. I have some, when I was living in Hong Kong, some of my clients, they say, yeah, yeah, my parents are retired. The parents are really gifted the job to them. But they still come to the office twice a week. No, they're so attached. Like it can't get over, right? So that's passion. Whereas you can use it, okay, my time is okay. I've done my duty. I've done it for a long time. I was attached to it. Now I listen to the landmark. I have trained someone to take it over. They touch from it. Goodness. So first, if we are still in my state of feeling too lethargic, become attached to our duties. Know that that's a gift that we get to live in this life, having this responsibility, whatever that's aligned with your nature. And once we're able to do that, then see if we can show up, but also become detached towards the fruits of the action. And that's how we can slowly raise from the mode of time, as to the mode of passion and eventually to the mode of goodness. Yes. So that's the, I like how you mentioned it. You don't go from the mode of ignorance straight to the mode of goodness. It's a trial process. So if you're like, target going to, that's like snuck into the mode of passion. Get fruitive, work friend. Get one this I want that. And then after you realize, wait, that gives me a lot of happiness, a lot of suffering, then evolve to the mode of goodness. So there's, so in all aspects, your house is more like, okay, let's get it clean. Let's clean it. Well, maybe paint it red, okay, correct. You're your passion. And then after like a few years, let's change this and transform it. Yeah. So you grew from mode of ignorance, the force to the mode of passion, to the force of goodness. Same thing with food too. If you're always eating food that doesn't give you a lot of energy, maybe first started eating food that's more giving you more life, giving your energy. Maybe they're very spicy. There might be a little bit violent, but at least first race to that state. And then over time, as the things start to shift, the force start to pull you again, then let's see if we can move it where it's that mode of goodness. Yeah. Unlike all the examples we use, it's experience, experience the mode of ignorance and you experience the mode of passion, then you experience the mode of goodness. Wow. Then you have free will, right? Within the Boundary of a Human, to choose which one you want to be in. Totally. Yeah. You which earlier you mentioned the symptoms of the mode of goodness, cleanliness, being kind, being compassionate, being peaceful. What are some of the symptoms other than being competitive and being attached to the fruits that's the symptom of passion? Oh, so passion, it's greed. Anxiety. People is one of the biggest issues we had a whole podcast on anxiety. Loss, right? The senses get very
I want you to lust over certain food. Your ear, you get lust over certain sounds. You get you lust over certain farms. Know you get lust over certain smells. Right? So these are the mode of passion. And then that's why we say like you explain, when the senses are happy, instantly if your tongue gets satisfied, when slice a cheesecake, I want another one. It's instant gratification, right? Happiness in the beginning. Or can I get more green on another one? After like slices, the same thing that gave you happiness, turns into make you feel suffering. So the mode of passion is pleasure in the beginning will lead to pain in the end. And then the mode of time are the mode of ignorance. Like you explain, right? You're scrolling on the phone. Some of the thing is controlling your mind other than you. And before you need two hours went. Or right, some people, they get when you're in the force of ignorance covers you so much. You get happy from doing ignorant things. Oh, right. I see some, you know, just different cultures. I see some native Americans, they put hooks in their back and hang on a chain and a tree. And it's we call it tapasenia, but that's that's painful in the beginning. And yeah, there's no, but you in your mind, yeah, I'm good. Look how powerful I am. I'm getting happiness from this. So that's happiness in the, it's painful in the beginning, painful in the end. And then like you explain, right? The austerity in the mode of goodness. You, it's challenging to get up early in the morning if you're not used to it. It's challenging to eat pure, non-tyalent food initially. It's not all your friends and family are criticizing you. But once you do it, then afterwards you start to, oh wow, one or two family members come around. Wow, this is healthy for me. I went to my doctor and my doctor said I should eat like you. So it's painful initially, but then in the end, it's, wow, people understand it is better. It brings happiness in the end. And I think the beauty of that is intuitively, we all know. We all know what's the good thing for us. What's in a long-term braininess that you're happiness. I even remember growing up. There was a Chinese provob. It says that good medicine, it tastes very bitter. It's the same concept ever beginning. It tastes so hard. It's so challenging, but you know that it's healing for you. It's going to bring you to that health as state of being where you're feeling balance. And we all know it because we live it every day, every week. Someone talking to the motor of the old Lord, I just got this. A great amount of money. Let me give a little charity to someone. Oh, darling. Even happier. You're thinking, wow, but if I give this away, I won't be able to go to this show and that move, you are going to spend that money on something for yourself. So it's painful to give it away. You give it the charity. Give some of it. You become happy. So it's challenging to part ways. I won't be able to go to please my senses with the money, but I'm going to try and help someone else. And when you do this, there's that inner happiness that comes from it. And so pain in the beginning, pleasure in it. And that's so as we live, everyone of us go through this level of pleasures. We sometimes just want instant gratification. And then oh, Lord, suffer. Right. You're getting for a relationship. Your friend's salute, that person is not going to be good enough. You're infatuated. Everyone can see. It's not good for you. That's what you're so. Raja, I lie. I'm into this person. You're enough. I'm on later. It's like, every time you see the person is constant. I'm like conflict. Yeah. We see the relationships. And then someone you get to learn slowly, wow, okay. Gracefully, they're attracted to that person. Take it slow. Gradually get to know each other, know each other mentality. Then the love grows, right? The love. And then it's like, wow. And then some people come the first dip. They are arguing. Then you still go for it. It's like, the painful from the first dip. Painful to you and what to do with the three modes. And I think sometimes we have to go through those different types of relationships to realize, I know what I'm looking for now. They're not just learning experiences. It's rare you find someone who, you know, wow, in the mode of goodness, right off the bat, it's a relationship. Or like, you know, our own body, our own mind. We also sometimes have to go through different process. You know, what's bringing me actually true our last in happiness from with it. Yeah. And I like how you said that. What is going to bring us long last in happiness from what in because yoga culture, the rich culture teaches as a spirit soul. We are a nanda. We are pleasure seekers. So then what is going to bring us long last in happiness? Everyone is looking for so the yogis, the riches they teach, you have to come to our place in the mode of goodness when your mind is peaceful, you're calm. Then you can use the mode of goodness as a springboard to go into deep self discovery, introspection, deep understanding of knowing who you are. So the mode of goodness is the best out of the three modes. But it's not the end result. The end result is you use that inner peace you have attained by eating nonviolently, by living in a beautiful habitat, by having a relationship that's in the mode of goodness, by doing everything in the mode of goodness. When you live in the mode of goodness, you become peaceful, happy. Okay. Let's use that to go on a search of who I'm I. Beyond the senses that are pulling us. Who am I? Beyond my mind with all the emotions. Who am I? And then not just who am I, but what is this universe? What is this body? Who engineered my body? So self discovery means you're not only understanding who you are as a spiritual being, but who the divine creator of this body is. Who is the divine creator of this amazing universe is? And this is what will give you our self satisfaction. When you start to connect to the divinity, the engine air of this universe, and you're doing that, you're connecting to that being, not out of fear, but out of love, out of love. Right? Because love moves the whole universe. It's a force. That's a force that brings us together. So we use the mode of goodness to springboard us into the self-interspection of who am I? Who this universe is? What this universe is? Why was I incarnated in this realm? So in your moments of quietness, you start to get inner wisdom from within, from the Lord and the heart. And as you step into it, oh wow, I am a spiritual being. The urges that get from the senses are from my body. You get up, we get up in the morning. What's one of the first things we all have to do? Pets under the bathroom. So that's not an urge from the soul. That's an urge from my body. I am separate from my body. Troll the day, a lot of urges come, oh, you start till you get up. If you get up at four or five o'clock, and then you reach 11, 12, you then put any food. You start to feel an urge from your stomach. And then what then we convince, oh, I am hungry. No, that's an urge from our body. Totally. Totally different from your body. So you get this realized, oh yes, these are urges from my body, not from my true spiritual self. But I need to keep this body when these urges come, if you can understand, oh, it's the urges from the body. It's not an urge from me, but I have to keep the body healthy. In the body healthy means I'm going to feed it, give it enough fuel in moderation. Don't overeat. Don't panic. Oh, let's feed it food in the mode of goodness. And then because as soon as it eats, rajasic food, that realization of your separate form the bar gets clouded again. All of you turn it, or I am
my tongue. I need to eat my stomach. I need no no. Those are in the mode of patience. You got soft makin. So the mode of pulley pulls us away. Oh, I got urges. What are the brown trudy senses? And then with that, you start to do everything in moderation. And then the introspection goes deeper. Connect to the Lord in the heart with love. That's beautiful. And that's also why we want to work with the three modes of nature. They're influencing us. The force is they're they're literally forcing us every single moment. And we need some of them at times. We need a we need a force of that that domestic that lethargic energy so we can rest at night. We need a passionate energy. The body, the body needs that urge to sleep. So we need to mask the control it. Yeah, say ignorant control. Yeah. And then we need a passion so we can create so we can actually come show up to do our duties. But more importantly, eventually we want to tap into that mode of goodness so that we can detach from the fruits. So we can have those deeper inner experiences that not only just gives us peace, but also allows us to connect with the heart, connect with who we truly are as devised virtual beings. Yes. And then eventually we get to that point of love. Love your senses so much. You don't want to harm them. You love your body so much. You don't want to harm your body. You love your mind so much. You don't want to have grief and anxiety and stress. You just want to have high frequency emotions. And then that comes out to how we serve our love others. Serve others. Love God. Serve God. That's the goal. So yes, this is the tree modes. We're living in them. But we should know there is a goal where we can go. Let's work our way from ignorance, first form to passion, then from passion to the mode of goodness. And then when you reach there, use that as a springboard to go into self-higher self-realization. Beautiful. You'll reach there. You can guide us through a short meditation so we can have and hopefully a glimpse of what it feels like to experience that mode of goodness that takes us into our spiritual practice. Yes. Wonderful. Okay. Everyone you can bring this by and tall, close their eyes, touch the tip of the tongue, the tip of the index fingers, bring the whole body into stillness, bring your mind to the breath, the entrance of the nostrils, feel the air moving in and out. And ask yourself, who is witness in the mind? Who is witness in the breath? So the breath, as you witness the breath, your mind comes in the mode of goodness. Because the breath takes place in the present, the mind comes down. But throughout your day today, I'm pretty sure you had thoughts which were in the mode of Thomas or the force of ignorance. Explore your life, something like Tarjik you did today, something that triggered pain in the beginning and let the pain in the end, something you did that made you more. You didn't even want to move, you didn't want to do anything. Explore your last 24 hours and see how the mode of the force of ignorance covered your consciousness. [silence] Then from their throat or day, we will also experience the force of passion. Remember our time in the last 24 hours when you had so much desires and you to do something you're busy running around and you were very fluid about it. You're doing something to get something in return. And maybe you got it, the results you wanted and you were happy. Maybe you didn't get the results and you became unhappy. [silence] Then in the last 24 hours, see your memory and see if you can remember when the mode of goodness pervade your consciousness. Maybe you cleaned your room or you deleted your inboxes, you maybe you washed your cloth, maybe you sat down for meditation. Maybe you were active, maybe you did your duty but you were detached from the results. You were happy with either from other results knowing you were not the doer. There were other forces that were influencing the outcomes where you were detached from it. You could live like that. And if you can see, remember these three modes in the last 24 hours, know that each person you meet on this planet, we are being constantly influenced by these three modes. We all go through them. And the modes, the forces are accompanied each other to control us. So let's try and resonate with the mode of goodness more and more in our life. And when you can keep your room clean, keep your mind clean, keep your heart clean, the more and more you keep association which raises your vibration, you can then use that mode of goodness to become introspective. To question, knowledge of who am I really? Knowledge of who created this universe? Knowledge of what is my relationship with that divinity, divine being? Connecting to that force, that supreme being, true love. We all love someone but the soul will really be fully fully satisfied when we love the supreme person, the all attractive Lord. So much this universe is engineered with so many lives, that person who engineered the universe, who coded this universe. Let's develop love for that thing. Then it will become the Ananda that pleasure seeking will get fully fully satisfied. Before we can get there, let's work through the three modes. Positively, use the mode of ignorance to recharge the body to sleep, use the mode of passion to get things done, use the mode of goodness to be detached from the results. When you gaze back to your breath, appreciate the breath, your constant companion. As we appreciate the breath, our mind comes to the mode of goodness. Take a deep inhalation, exhale slowly, rep to normal, bring the palms to the heart, lower the head towards your higher self, namaste. Lift the head, open your eyes, hurry on, that's it. Thank you, G-Chairry, for such a powerful meditation, reminding us of the modes of nature, the forces that's constantly moving us in what how we can work with them and hopefully come into that state of goodness and allow that to dive deeper into that love in our hearts. Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The universe is governed by three subtle forces or modes of nature
These forces influence every aspect of life, including mental states, dietary choices, living environments, work attitudes, and spiritual evolution, constantly competing for dominance.
By consciously cultivating the mode of goodness—through practices like mindful eating, creating peaceful spaces, and performing duty without attachment to outcomes—one can achieve mental peace and reconnect with their true self.
