I don't think there's any-- I guess there is a possibility, but I don't think there's any belief that he's going to. It's not like there's not going to be any belief that he will sit out. That's for the negotiations. I haven't really heard much about that specifically anymore, but it makes sense. This is about the time. Honestly, I think Joey is just trying to use these last couple of days to, you know, do what he's supposed to do. Get the most money he can possibly get out of this contract. I don't see any benefit of him sitting out, not one. So it's just based on that. I think he'll sign at some point or probably, but, you know, today, tomorrow, Friday, at the latest, I think. Well, I saw last night that Christian Gonzalez on the plane flight to Seattle came doing agreement, right before the day before the game. And I don't know if they have a deadline situation like the Steelers. Do I do think in this case the deadline helps the Steelers? Yeah, I mean, first of all, I think Troy did it on a Saturday in the FBO airport anger. So I think that was the closest one. The other ones were done a day or two ahead of time. I don't know how that works. I don't think. Hey, Joey show up at Sunday morning at 9 a.m. We need you to sign this real quick. I'm pretty sure that they would have a more of a deadline of a Saturday Saturday night court has. Allen of all people. Once signed a Saturday night before the season as well. So that would be it. Yeah, but yeah, that's where they have a cut off day. I mean, I know they say it's because of 1990's rain, 94 when there was just so much turmoil inside that locker room, but some people were getting paid. Some people weren't and then runies like forget this, but it does put a artificial deadline in there. I mean, they can say this is the reason why we're doing it because we've always did it. But when you put that deadline in there of this is when it is, they know that there's no negotiation. So you we're not going to drag it out into the season. So you have to make your choice right now. So I think it benefits the organization in more than one ways of having that deadline. Gonzalez and Porter have the same age and that agent didn't budge one bit with the Patriots what makes us believe he will with Porter. Well, I don't think Porter has much leverage either. Does he did Gonzalez? I don't know. I think I honestly, I mean, Joey Porter was very, very good last year. We can't deny that. We can't deny his stat. But let me ask you something. If both of those guys got paid the same exact money, which one would you want on your roster right now? Well, probably Gonzalez, but you tell me why because I've been having a hard time figuring it out because both the one year, I mean, Joey was really, really good for one year. He was decent in his rookie year and pretty much leveled off his second year. That's the way I would look at it. I don't believe in anything doesn't fit scheme wise. I mean, if you're a good cornerback, I don't care if you play zone 99% of the time you find a way to put Joey Porter in man coverage on somebody and take him away. So what would the deal look like in your opinion? I mean, I would say maybe a tick under 30 maybe. Here's would be five or 150 or five or 146 something like that. How much guaranteed? That's the big number. Yeah, that is the big number. I mean, I would say somewhere around in the 50 range. I wouldn't think it would be much more than that. Maybe first two years, fully guaranteed. Then have some guaranteed money like roster bonuses and stuff of that nature in the last couple years to make the total guaranteed more. I mean, I think that would be something because what other options you have is going to make 4 million this year. He's going to make 24 million next year. And that is if he has an unbelievable season. He has 26 to he's a little bit older than his all this to I believe. So that's that's the problem. I want the money in the hand if I'm Joey Porter. I don't want to I would bet on myself, but there's so many things here that you have to play well. Plus you don't have to get hurt. Then you have that franchise tag just sitting there just floating over your head next year. So I think when you throw that all together, it's going to get done. I thought it was interesting yesterday, Mark on the first official death chart. It had when it came to that position at Joey Porter, Jr. or the Santa Samuel, Jr. Yeah, that's a little bit of the gamesmanship. I bet I don't know how to read that. I don't know if I should read that is gamesmanship or they're not 100% sure that he's will be ready to play when he's in there. I would assume it would be more gamesmanship because what's the worst thing I have you put him is the starter. Then you say, I he's not ready to go yet because he's only practice. He hasn't practiced really fully at all yet. So I don't know. I'm not quite sure how to read that. I mean, how much do you talk to you taking the depth chart? Do you take stock in jail and Warren being one over Rico Dotto when I'm pretty sure that Rico is probably going to get more total touches in him, not only this week, probably all season. So, I don't know how much. Yeah, they also had three starters on the outside linebacking crew. Yeah, how about that? I mean, they had 12 starters on defense. They should be pretty good. They started 12. I counted that too. Yeah, but they only have, what, they only have one corner. No, not one coin. They only have one safety, right? Right. So that's, you know, I guess Jalen Ramsey is going to move around. I guess that that means. And that those have been solved this season that I guess he moved back to maybe Mississippi and then he was just a happier guy and Aaron said in this sport for better or worse off the field stuff can help you or hurt you and he's in a much better place off the field. Have you heard about this? I heard what you said on the podcast. I'm not unaware of anything off the field other than blue hair guy, right? But, you know, first day of training camp, he came and talked to the media in front of the podium. He did seem like a happier, nicer human being last year. He had some, I'll be honest. Sometimes he was as nice as can be and sometimes you know, he wasn't the most pleasant person to go try to talk to as well. A lot of times we forget about some of the office that feel stuff that could affect your life, whatever it is. I don't know exactly what it was, but I would imagine the big part of it was the last couple of weeks of the year with blue hair guy and everything he had to go through with that. But we're all just, I tell you one thing, he absolutely loves DK MECHEF. He doesn't waste a interview gathering without mentioning how great DK MECHEF is. And how special he is, and how he likes him and how he's having a great camp. So, at least, I mean, you think about it. Rodgers has had curious things to say about Whitman, Roman, Jeremy Bernard, but he has not noticed anything. But what do you think Pittman will be able to do being number two to DK Metcalf? - I think he's low-key. - He's very important. - Well, we have, he's out of so out of mind 'cause he was hurt for a couple of weeks, but he's a high level athlete, high level receiver that this team hasn't really had a number two like that for. - Man, that has to be the Michael Wallace Santonio Brown days of that caliber. How much I think of Pittman? I think he's just a pro. And I mean, if worse comes the worse, if he's able to get DK Metcalf more single coverage and not rolling or bracketing him, he's doing his job, but he's gonna be one of those guys who's gonna go, you know, six or 62, and you didn't even know he played, but he made some big plays, so I don't have any worry about him whatsoever. Now, I need a little bit of question marks after that, maybe, but I think they're definitely in the better position there with him. I mean, who else, who else, the better number two? Since, you know, since the Wallace Santonio Brown days, I don't even, maybe Claypool for a year. He said, there's not many weaknesses on this roster and predicts them to go to the playoffs. I need a record and I need, if you think they're going to the playoffs, what their fate will be. - Wow, I mean, you know what I'm gonna say, right? - No, I don't. - Oh, huh? See, it's hard for, I've been saying it for the past six months. They're gonna be really good, it's really bad, but I'm struggling with line there. Tony's probably screaming at the radio right now 'cause I can't get a good feel of this team's gonna be really, really good or really, really bad. I can almost guarantee they're not gonna be in the middle. I'm not going eight and nine and nine and eight. I understand they do got a ton of talent. The question is, do they have enough time here with the whole new coaching staff and the whole turnover? Does he get those guys in order? I like the coaching staff as well. That's why I'll probably lean more towards, you know, the 10-11 win season. Well, I'd be very careful. I say be very, very careful. 'Cause I think that 10-11 win season can easily turn into a five and six win season. - I need a definitive record in their playoff fate, please. - I'm saying no win, 11 and six. And I do think they'll win the, I think they'll win the division. I do think they'll win the division again. And to playoff game, did you say? - Division. - Well, we'll throw a playoff game win in there to have Aaron Rodgers go out, at least with a win here. But I'm telling you guys, be very, very careful over the first month that it could go south in the hurry. - Holy chip on tentacles, Bob. - Well, that's if it goes south, if it goes south early, then the rest of the season will be very difficult to overcome 'cause the schedule that's gonna stay in, I mean. - Well, we'll get a better read in the first couple of games. I mean, McCarty is more paranoid than, I wish I had a good, funny statement that Joe was, but he's more paranoid than Malsey in the barber shop or something like that, you know. - That's actually pretty good. - Is it good when I've read up to my head? But he's very, very paranoid about stuff. So I don't know how he keeps things so close to the vest around here. It's hard to get a good read on him quite yet, I think. - Well, I think the coaching change and how it shows itself early in the season will go a long way too. If we see something from this offensive we haven't seen, it's a different approach. If they come up with different ways to do it, you know, you can use that and say, okay, if he stays healthy, he being Rogers and they can do some things here, also defensively. They have had the top highest paid defense for the last several years. And the results have not been in sync with that number. So it's probably more now this year with her big, right? - Absolutely, we haven't gotten the porter yet. So I think you can expect maybe Patrick Graham to do some things differently. The fact that they have three different edge rushers, listen to the starters tell me there's gonna be a whole bunch of difference in this. - I need to. If you're paying those three guys a total of what? 100 million this year, 25, whatever. 45, 80, 80, something million bucks, you better get them on the field as much as you can saying with Ramsey. I mean you got three guys, push him and Hayward. You got one, two, three, four, five guys, probably making a hundred million dollars this year or at least against the cap. So they need to say, I say right now, is we always blame A is Tom the meddling, Taros and couldn't do his stuff. If it's defense fell this year, it's on TJ. It's on Highsmith, it's on Camp Hayward. It's the player's fault this year. We can't continue to just say, oh, it's just the coaching staff. They didn't put him in right situations. I think this coaching staff's going to put him in right situations. And one thing I say about Mike McCarthy, very low key as well, a task masker. Faster, he is, wants it done his way.
