Episode 43 - Too much Sun, Laura's Film Reviews and Diceless Systems

In this episode of "The Rollup Podcast," the hosts engage in a freewheeling, comedic discussion covering personal struggles, sports, and pop culture. A central theme is the difficulty of job hunting, with one host detailing his frustration after 12 rejections and the grim reality of 300 applicants per position. He credits friends for helping refine his CV but remains disheartened. The conversation pivots to Scotland's World Cup performance, where another host humorously claims to have "lost" £720 due to the team's group-stage exit, though no money was wagered. They celebrate the Tartan Army's fan culture, sharing anecdotes about Boston pubs closing to give staff a break during England matches. The group then shifts to personal stories, including a paramedic's dark epilepsy joke and a host's upcoming Master's graduation. Later, they riff on movie plots, debating the merits of "Ratatouille," "Blade Runner," and the absurdity of a "Pacific Rim" crossover featuring the film's rat chef. Throughout, the banter remains irreverent, with tangents about heatwaves, washing machines, and the hosts' disdain for certain songs. The episode captures the podcast's signature blend of raw humor, camaraderie, and relatable life frustrations.

[Music] -So the fucking weird, they're all the weird, they're all weird fucking, they're fucking infantry while they're like extra tits and shit. So that's the army and then everyone's a bit more straight forward. -Oh, something like that. -Super straight forward, it's episode 43 of the rollup podcast. -Did you really not see him press the button? -Every fucking time. No one doing this. -This is the fight she's always like, "You're sad next to it." I don't. -Beauty Laura, he gets so many zone ways. -I know. I understand his entire perception in this just point. -No, I was setting this up because this time, a lovely viewer's list was first of all how you doing. They had me fucking monologue in a bit warhammer, so it's not my fucking fault. -So I don't think we had you, you start on the dress of fucking time, just. -Yeah, we just said that. Honestly. -To the chaos gods, where? -Exactly. You're just like a fucking Beyblade. We're just like pulling the rip cord and letting you go. -Well done on guessing all the chaos gods, Chris. -Yeah, well done Laura. -And that is my not-to-end point. -Events episode 40, fucking free. -43 of the rollup podcast coming to you quote-unquote live from the right of our basement drill and provide to us by no mean radio. I am a bit your eponymous Eastern hero, Fred Slychan, because I've been outside in the sun too much. -It's fucking roasted! -I fucking roasted is really warm. And I am joined by a cavalcade of clowns. Laura, hello. -Hi, Laura. I am. -Silla's white as you know, because I do not take a tan, but also I don't go outside. -That's fair. I mean, that's kind of a good idea right now. -Yeah, you're just born. -You're so white, you're trying to listen. -I was in Mull for three days, and I. -Yeah, born. -And that was at the end of me when the weather was like super nice, but not like as hot as that is. -Yeah, it's really beautiful. -Someone else has joined some recent weather. -Jules! -Sounds nice. -How's it going? -Great. -Good. -Just fucking fucks. -Just fucking fucks. -I've run out of wards. -No fun. -Yeah, my crotch up has become puddles over there. -I am doing great, yeah. -I'm looking forward to running a game tomorrow for the first time in a while. -Yeah. -Indeed. -And has returned to this studio. -I'm back. -I'm back again. -It's me. -It's me. -It's me. -It's me. -It's me. -Shut up, how cold are they? -They're all a bit high, everybody. -It's the cricket. -It's the cricket. -It's the cricket. -That's your army. -That's fucking fresh. -They cheer army people. -Oh, okay, right. -But it's one of the biblical plagues. -Hold on. -Those locusts. -Yeah. -Crickets and locusts are the same thing. -Where are the bednars? -It's pretty fucking racist. -It's all gone. -Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. -I know we can give you. -And Connor's in the house. -Yay! -Even like, you can get the first few bars of like the USSR national actual fucking nut. -Or a red sun in the sky. -Run it. -No chance. -No, no, no. -Fuck up. -So we're better in the sky. -It's more regular than dead, dead, dead, dead, dead. -That's actually fucking sick. -Oh, it's a big apartment. -Oh, my God, are we back to the every episode of the episode? -Yeah. -It's a big apartment. -Oh, my God, are we back to the every episode of having us just singing right now? -We did sing about a fucking fallout shit at the last episode. -We did. -Yeah, it just happens. -So now people are throwing a listen to the podcast and find out where's the singing moment. -Yeah. -We're doing that. -Showbiz it in the discord. -Indeed, if you're not in. -Get in the fucking discord. -Get in the discord. -Yeah. -Get in the discord. -It's a selling point to see the shit we talk about every fucking day. There was 700 notifications and the clothing channel the other day. -Oh, the fit check. -The fit check went fucking mental. -Yeah. -I did not see that. -You should look at your phone. -I've just seen it fun. -There's a million notifications. -Yeah, that's just tricky. -Oh, the monster fuckers were back. Did you see that over there? -We had to have a voice call about it. -I couldn't hear what. -What I wasn't in it, Adele was. -I came down to stairs from. -I don't know what I was doing. -I got asked the question and I was like, "Fucking no." -We were all shouting at you. -Yeah, exactly. -I was like, "Second hand rage for people." -We were all jumping to the episode, but I didn't touch on this. We were having a lovely VCE, which used to have a lot in this. -We did. -We were all even a voice chat. I remember when I was talking to some shit. It was fucking like when the teacher goes at the class to go get books and stuff. We were all in there and everybody just was fucking mental. Me and Laura went to the gym, we went back in the morning and we were like, "And as soon as Andrew showed up, "message me, the time we fucking filled the water bottles up, pulled our trainers up and went, "there was a sat in the car, he just went, "Empreg has entered the gym." -Oh, that's tough. -And I opened up the fucking chat and everybody was just posting pictures like, "Fucking Leon Kennedy pregnant in shit." And I'm going to call them out. I don't know what I'm going to do. It was Nicole, it was Jade, it was Adele, anyone in the room. They weren't being really fucking Leon then. A second and then second and then line was like Ollie and Nicole and Dan. -Yeah, they were like, "Oh, fucking hell, it was just yeah." -Fucking, using a bunch of barely-teamed Ricuns and I fucking love you all the early Jesus Christ. -Other things you love, Dele is not one, then that 20s of the week. Or the time to which has been passed since the previous recording. -I've got some of that one. -Conies thought, I want to go for it, drop some heat. -It's not even funny, so I'm not even trying to. Oh, obviously, I'm not even fucking amusing. I've had about 12 knockbacks for jobs in the last three weeks and I'm getting really. -It's fucking fairly fucking fed up about it. I've seen something online where they reckon it's like on average, there's like 300 people applying for the one role at the moment. -Yeah. -It's fucking grim. Like I'm getting really, really fed up with the pump. As much as it's an endless source of comedy, we can all agree because the fuck. -Yeah, the podcast is a bit fed from it. -Who seems to feel a fucking cryptid, if there's one thing to blame, the juggling. But I'm fed up and everybody's moving on and it's just me now that's there. My chump finish out, he's leaving. He's actually going to the competition up the road, which is fucking hysterical. But I'm not. This is going to be a pump podcast and it's really funny. And I'm applying fucking day entry admin. Vi gave me some shit to apply for, shout out Vi and Andrea gave me some shit to apply for. Shout out Andrea. It's just fucking. -I'm taking a little bit as well as I'm actually hearing back and focusing no. -No. -As usually you just fucking send your CVs and you just never hear back. -I was going to say, I had an interview eight weeks ago and I've heard that and it's fucking terrible. -That's why I. -Yeah. -That's fucking. -The worst one. -Don't know if I've talked about the podcast from the worst one I've ever had was a. -My chum Lee. -Chum Lee. -Not chun Lee from fucking Street Fighter. -Yeah. -Sorry. -My chum Lee from Ponsdars. -Yeah, definitely not. -My friend Lee, the server was. -My friend Lee. -Oh, one of my fucking clients is like mad and I'm not going to say her name and I'm like, "She's mad until I get fucking whisky stuff." -She actually works with them and you want me to get your details. -Oh yeah, you remember this? -Yes. -I was really fucking upset. -Oh yeah. -And I went for an informal interview with the lasty. -Because I'm fucking brilliant as Akes that has blown out the water because I'm like, "Oh shit, this motherfucker knows a lot of it. -Fucking whisky." -Yeah. -And not just pies as he appears to. -So then I got another fucking interview off the back and it was the fact that they were like, "This is where you park." -Here's the code that you put in the wrinkle to give you like. -Because obviously there was the bonus invention street. -Oh yeah. -It's placed. I was going to be working. -Here's the code that you put in your wrinkle. -That guy's like the free parking. -So if the thing is to be fucking car park and grass and bastards. -Like fucking. -This is the office. -This is what we're going to be doing. -This is your thing with that. -And basically. -And the two days of that, one of the big fucking owners of this company went, "Oh is that job been filled yet?" -Oh my boy, although it. -Oh. -And I was just like. -And to be fair, the last issues like I've been interviewing this boy, he's great. -He's a low-coated Glasgow, he can work in the office like, "No, my boy will do it in a moment." -And I was fucking rate as pure as I was. -Yeah. -So just fucking. -As much as my CVs might be banging. -And they are. -Yeah. -Because fucking Andrea helped me wrinkle them again, shout out Andrea. -It's just all. -Who you know. -So sorry to take the fucking. -Ha ha, comedy out of the fucking railway podcast. -Yeah, that's bad. -But I'm getting on with everything's alright, but. -Which generally though, I think especially in summertime people are. -Yeah. -Because we've got a lot of people leaving just now going off to other jobs and stuff like that. And we've got people trying to get in. And as you say, there's so many applications, it's really difficult. -Yeah. -And it's something everyone needs to deal with. So I'm interested in it too much. -Mm-hmm. -Law of you getting anything for? -Um. -It's not a personal, not one. -Yeah. -But it's something that I'm. In fact, know it as a personal, not one. I have lost a shit ton of money. -Oh. -I have lost. -Are you making like investments? -7720 pounds. -On what? -Cardel's making a face. -He's freaking out. So, everybody knows I don't mind a relentless opt-man. -Have you been bidding on the horses again? -No. -Are you the fucking GGs? -No. -Everybody knows I don't mind. -I don't mind. -I'm just a dog. -Everybody knows about my relentless opt-man's in the skull. -Yeah. -We're gonna win the World Cup. -Ah. -So you didn't actually lose 720 pounds? -No, I didn't put any money on anything. -Oh, fuck yeah. -However, however. -However. -However. -However. -Number one, we didn't get past the group stage. It's heartbreaking. -You were gonna. Jules was gonna give me 20 pounds if we got past the group stage. -Oh, it was. -You were. -Hey, though, was gonna give me 200 pounds if we won the World Cup. Claire was gonna give me 500 pounds. So, Steve. -Steve Clark. -Is that Steve Clark? -Yeah. -I'm just saying, Steve Clark, you did a great job getting us to the World Cup in the first place. -Yeah. -But you can't even. -You have lost me 720 pounds. -You can't even see him. -I'm a blood pressure, I was fucking high. -I know I'm really sorry. -Fuck, fuck. -But to be fair, you're gonna. Steve Clark no longer has a job. -Me quite. -Well, yeah. -He did resigning. -So we fucking should. -Do you know enough of it? football too. I know we lost. I mean, twice. We were never get a win. We were never get a win against. But see as much as I don't give a fuck on my football. The one thing I didn't do, the real thing, I actually have a fucking talking sports in this podcast. All the lovely stories from Boston. We may not have won the football, but we did win the hearts and minds of men. I've spent the best fans. Cheers to the tartan army. I've been seeing all the memes that I've been loving. I've been like, Boston being sad, looking at the tartan army, Miami instead. My favourite thing from Boston is the Dubliner, which is basically what became a big game there. The Beijing the tartan army's base in Boston. The day that England were playing in Boston. They put an notification out on social media saying, "We're closing the pub today because the guys have worked so hard for two weeks to deserve a day off to rest and going to catch up themselves." Fortunately, there's nothing important happening to them. So we'll see you in tomorrow. Oh, I didn't know they said that. That's really funny. I can get to fucking round you. I love Boston. I went to Boston. I went to Boston. I went to Boston. In Massachusetts. So a different one. In Massachusetts. I was in Boston, Massachusetts. It's not Boston, England. Boston, Massachusetts. Eight years ago. It was just after I graduated. Oh, you missed a match. Yeah, you were a bit nervous. Well, I was like eight years nearly for the match. I knew we were going to get through. A lot of it. I knew we were going to get to Boston at the time of the other two World Cups. Two World Cups of mine. First John McGinn. Hello. Yeah. So also, I'm not not 20. It was the eight year anniversary of my graduation. My undergraduate graduation. It took me many, many years to get a job related to my degree, but whatever. Speaking of fucking heat waves, your grad ball is the hottest other than being on Christ's green. Yeah, you look super hot. I was already in a half of my throat. I couldn't breathe. I am really a del's graduate and our Masters in Epilepsy next week on the eighth. And I'm not looking forward to sending that show. Are they having a rave for it? No, I fucking watch. Do you know what, though? Thank you, Jules. Right? Do you know? We went to see. We went to see Connor Burns for the Glasgow Comedy Festival and he made that joke. And she fucking told her dad to be like, he called on pavement ravers. Pavement ravers. Oh, I'm fucking brilliant. I don't know. That was a horrible time. I'm not gonna tell you what. I'm gonna be doing epilepsy. Oh, fuck. I'm so glad I got that fucking fucking phone. I'm gonna be in the lead report. Yeah. And one of the worst fucking epilepsy jokes I ever had, it was a fucking panomedic that told me this, right? 100%. So, the other five are. Just so you know, your best friend is an epilepsy. I know. I'm not saying like, fuck, literally, it makes me go, so you can say, yeah, would you get pals? I'll get epilepsy. At the time, I think no, my class needs tellers. We're in fucking school. It goes, well, J, do you know what you do if you're like a family member or a friend's having an epileptic fit in the bath? And no, it goes, you know, but what we want to do is put your washing in and it's like, fuck, fuck, shit. After teachers like the recovery positions and stuff and I'm like, fuck, if that's not fucking glass, we didn't like panomedic, literally, I was mad, but I was like, yeah, I was like, what the brambler on in the butt, I really want to go back to Boston. Yeah, basically. I was there eight years ago, just after I graduated, beautiful, so I eat. Nice. New York sucks. Boston. Well, you're getting better. Oh, yeah. It was just so busy. The content of the word dreams are made of. But it was also super weird dreams are made of, doesn't make grammatical sense. It doesn't really, where dreams are made of, made of what? I'm a fucking trigger for more of you. I just knew I'm this guy. It's fucking hate only shakies. It's kind of fucking starting. I have no pain in a nice. I do not like bad. You're not fucking clearly on a rato. We've got a fuck sake. We've got a full, like, framed picture on the host that she just like, fucking, like, naves it. And she's like, you know, your life's not a big sense. Oh, yeah, you only shakies. I hate you. Nables all out of the fucks. Yeah. So, so I get at least a keys and at least a dex and a lot of it. Yeah. At least a dex and was dynamite. He. And all that song. Yeah. Mr. Dynamite. Before we get into the fucking music -And then choose -Oh, I got one. -Yeah, I said it's 20 pounds. -It's 20 pounds. [laughter] -This is just getting more and more f*cking, like, medallized, isn't it? -I see. It's about so funny. -I have a new wash-a-machine from Goye. -No, he didn't have that! -He's not buying me a new one. -Foxic, fishball and a shite. -Oh, I see. -They did recently, people, myself included to believe that go at least to then knock out stage. -I mean, it was our best chance. -Our frang's not f*cking causing it now. -Oh, mate. -They're not following. -Oh, brilliant. They've been, like, seven, eight goals in the first three games. -And one of the big viking contours, his name. -Oh, Erling Harlan. -He didn't look happy. -No, he wasn't telling me. -I saw the fans do the. -The rowing group. -No, the French fan doing it when they were going, like, sitting, getting goals against Norway, just doing it just to work them. -Yeah. -Oh, that's what you could part of. -I haven't been following at all. -I don't know what the fuck's going on. -Because it's all in every f*cking tele in the work club. -Oh, yeah. -I'm kind of like, yeah. -I really know that his friends always do kind of all night. -They generally do, yeah. -But yeah, I am your first time sportswear. -The first time they went to final in the World Cup, I was busy watching in Cris Bulls 2 at the semi-final. -That was so funny. -That was great. -Yeah. I mean, it must have been dead. -You must be all night person in the theatre. -Oh, yeah. -You don't blame me on Elastagirl's f*ck. -Well. -Yeah. -Yeah. -That's too much. -Oh, he didn't cry at all, too. -I mean, I was at kids. -Right, it's incredible. -Oh, yeah. -But Laura, it's like right at 2 a.m. except. -Oh, very funny. -What were they doing last 2? -That's never going to die. -It's not. -Rata 2. -I thought they'd write a 2. -They don't need a sequel. It had a beautiful. -A sweet sequel. -They don't need a sweet sequel. -It had a perfect ending. -Yeah. -But what about if Remi had kids? -No, he wasn't. -Why? -Because there's no female rat from Afghanistan. -What it says when? -There are no. -Wait, wait. -Remy does not have a love interest in that. -No, but what he does have is a successful f*cking business and a very high income bit of part. -That's f*cking bad news. -Ruby. -I bet he does. -Linguyney. -Megbabies. -Yes. -Absolutely. -He's like a beddie. -He's on the opponent hill, I was like. -If you're not using your hips, I toss on for f*ck's sake. -Linguyney has a love interest in collect. -Yes. -That's the joke. -And they end up just talking about it. -So maybe they could. -We're just talking about the remi within the hill. -We're just talking about f*cking. -The rat. -F*cking pacific rum in the country. -The actual f*cking. -I give it right to see. -Wait, with Linguyney and Remy be Drift compatible? -Yeah. -Holy f*ck. -Oh my god. -Yeah. -But, Jimmy, you've been Drift. -But you've not seen pacific rum. -No. -We're not. -We're not. -But it's not like. -The people control them eh? -Yes, like right to be better than. -So you should have a new segment of the podcast where Lorda described Mouri's "Shared-O" and Cisya's "Shared-O". -Okay, give me a film and I'll describe it. -Oh. -And right to it. -And just in general. -Oh, how about f*cking clodartless? -Oh. -I wouldn't know how to explain that. -Chanting Tatum is that it? -Okay. -Oh. -How about. -Is Channing Tatum in it? [laughter] -I think Channing Tatum's. Alright, uh, remember, if I was going to have something a little bit more mainstream like the right to the book Blade Runner just to use the name for the movie. I actually knew that. I knew that. I was going to the fucking saddest monologues in the film. Fucking ever. It is. And anything I'm saying, I'm just getting from that episode of Bob's Burgers that is a real fuck of it. Fucking great. Oh, and it's like, that's incredible. It's an android. The escapes the android factory. Keep going. This is good. And um, tries to make their way in the world. So the I'm trying to escape the I'm trying to factory. That's a plot of Irohbots. Is that a close so they're called replicants. Yeah. And they basically as they are called do androids dream of electric feet. But in the film, they're called replicants. And replicants are basically against the point. I guess the point where they're so dangerous that a whole department of police called Blade Runner's have to hunt down replicants and retire them because they're been deemed the two dangerous. But they don't know their replicants. So they think the real people, but they're not. It is deep. It's been a long, long time. It's nothing that people are very fucking good as well. Is that a blood run out of the RPG? There is a cyber punk red. No, Joe, who are fucking us and here again, and I'm pretty sure it's a fucking free league TTR. She's probably going to get every fucking freely. - Yeah, she is freely. - I'm pretty sure it is a freely product. - Probably, yeah. - Correctly from wrong, but I believe, yeah, and it's got a couple of source books and stuff as well. - Let's do this. - What we should do is get into our actual point here. So, because holy fuck, that is 20 minutes. - 20 minutes on the door. I was just talking absolutely shite. (upbeat music) - Yeah. - So, we did have an idea for this one because of some stuff that's beginning to be like, "Lord, can you get the rest about actually, "but we're doing this?" So, we thought we would talk about, 'cause obviously, it's really, it's a fucking shit. - Sorry, anything's wrong. - The vacation. Sorry. - Okay. - Before we talk about, we also talk about a lot of T-Target Gs. That is then much of a red and butter, of course. - Of course it is. - And the pics talk about later on, but when we thought we'd took the milk, and the meat potatoes in this fucking episode would be about diceless systems, as there's a good feud that we have started to, not only collect, but now play at game nights, and there's a lot of other alternate systems now, sort of out there. And there's a couple that I wanna talk about and just on the top of my head. Where there's just no dice whatsoever. And couldn't even mind that I personally played with a Chumbelly back in, yes, three years ago, it was dread. - It was so good. - It was a fucking jenga, too. - Yeah, it's so good. - It was so good. - It was really really good fun. And I remember sitting down and being like, "Yeah, I'll play the T-Target G, "because he wanted to have a gold DM in." And then when I was like, "Grey, what's the idea?" I need, he was like, "It's a jenga tour." I'm like, "Fucking sorry." - Yeah, it's so nice. - Can you use me? - And it was pretty cool because it takes like, it's fucking, it's death as it does. It takes like, like, a buzz of like jenga. - Yeah. - 'Cause you can push it and just keep fucking going and going and going and going. - Yeah. - That's the stakes of like the game. And that's the first time I've ever seen a game where it's like, because like, I don't know about you, but when I see these T-Target Gs, I see these war games, even stuff like magic. - Yeah. - I mean, I think, like dice is like the fries with it. You got burger and fries or fish and chips. Like the dice sort of goes with everything. So seeing like a T-Target G, something that I'm like, "Oh, I'm fucking wall of it." T-Target Gs, that's my thing. And then like, "No, there's no dice." And that's all I fucking blew my mind, doesn't know shit. So I was the first one I played and it's, can I, can I, I'm interested, I started looking for more. - Yeah. Do you know what's funny? Is it makes me think of when we were having a discussion, Joe, is it when you were trying to like, how do I make like pressure? How do I create like, consequences? - Jenga tour, it's amazing. - Jenga tour does it. Like, and the thing that's really cool about Dread is you write on the blocks as well. So like, you can pull a block and it's got something on it. It can be a problem, it can be an item, it can be something. And that adds the jeopardy. So not only you just try to keep the tower upright, you can be like enhancing the story to something. - You've got that with 10 candles, that's why you took it with another bright one. - If someone gets up from the table and one of the candles just goes off, that's it. - Well, that's it. - Did you ever play 10 candles? - No, no, I didn't. - I'm not having this again. The one game at the World Ratic Championship, the first game I remember was someone there. I was like, "Releas, have a wee break. "Can I use those techniques?" "Quiet." "Is any gust of air can blow out the candle? "Let's just go upstairs and get a wee drink." And as they all push their chairs back, they stand up to the fucking candles and I was like, "Ahh, fuck, what does that mean?" - So good. - But I can't relate the message. - Exactly. The other one that comes to mind for me immediately is one that, and the problem is is because how you need to run it. But Alice is missing. - Oh, fuck, yes. - It's nicely. - I mentioned so much, we really need to fucking get a good - I got it. - And he had to just, I have to pray. - So I have this silent hell's save. - I'll say it on the podcast as well. So the lovely viewers and listeners can fucking keep me honest about it. Lucky Strike are cool with us using the downstairs. But we need to work out a system where we can guarantee bombs and seats so they can put an extra member of our tickets. - So I'm just gonna do something like that. For quieter games like Alice's missing, like Ten-Cat and those something that I've been working on. - Yeah, but Alice's missing so good. Like the first time I played it just stands out my brain so quickly. So I remember sitting in our hotel room at GenCon, me and my three friends. And it got a point where my prompt said I had to flip a coin. I flipped a coin. Everyone's stressing the fuck out. 'Cause it like, what does that coin flip mean? And then they're like, you have to like message your character. The prompt said I couldn't message back. So everyone's stressing the fuck out. - That's what's fucking happened. And then like, their message in each other, like have you heard from Zonesoul? Like is it just me he's not talking to? Like they are just going fucking mental. And then eventually it hits a point in the timer where it says now you can reply and you get back and like the general chat. Could you have like a group chat? Then you have like chats between each character? - Ah, breakout chat. - Yeah. And it kind of allows you to like develop your character, your relationship between the characters. But it's like, basically it's so good. - It sounds like a cracking game. You don't mean to play a bullet line. - Yeah, absolutely. - Oh, fully. - Yeah. - You can just, it is completely silent. Like you have a beautiful soundtrack that is on the YouTube video that they provide. And you just start it in 90 minutes. Whoever's playing Alice's brother starts the, or Alice's dad if you're playing the expansion 'cause he's back in Silent Falls. You take the first prompt and you start from there and that kind of like sets the scene. You're trying to find Alice, but Alice, there's so many different things that can happen. Like how she got to whatever happened is all different because you mean different locations. You can have different items. You can have different other people in-- - It's got mad replayability. - Oh, fully. It's so incredible. - I feel like it's, I'm probably a subject for another time, but kind of like the, the border between TTPG and World Game. I feel like this one is kind of, - It's a really, really wanna play it. - It's so good. - It's so good. And I've got it. I feel like I'd need to play it first. - Yeah. - For obviously like, is it a kind of game where there's the GM and players or like-- - Kind of, it's more of them. - If we were to run it, would like, if I was gonna run it, I would be-- - Yeah, it's a lot of like-- - It's a lot of like-- - Yeah, it's a little bit like Fiasco in there. It's technically GM-less, but someone is setting the scene. - Yeah, of course. - It's like a board game, like picking on board games. You know I'd get one person and lost the rules on the game, totally explaining them. - Yeah. - Yeah, it's so incredibly good. - I think one of the other games we were playing to talk about today because that kind of started that conversation is one I run recently, which is one the home. - Yeah. - I had that book for a while, I'm feeling it. - That was a very happy table. - I was, I think, but I did have to explain to people, this is going to be different, this is going to be not nice and kind of the world, I'm set up the world and it's players that tell me what's in it, it's actually rather than is everything you can interact with. And it was amazing. I saw some really quiet players that normally don't participate much in a vision and that go, I want to dance, can I dance? I'm like, absolutely, 100% and you get, - Yeah, talking. - You don't get dice, you get tokens, and tokens can be used to help someone to get something. I love that as well about the dice rather than, I want to ask about that thing, under the rule for it, whatever. So no, I use my token too, and that means this happens. I'm making this happen in a world and me as the GM, and it can be done GM lessons, well, there's rules for that, but me as the GM just have to go, okay, you sure? You've earned that, the stock end that you've earned through interacting with the world, earned through role playing a character, using it and now I'm giving you back something in exchange, kind of saying it's really, it was really interesting. - It kind of reminds me, I only played it once back in the day, but there was a system and it was like basically, much the same as you say, you've got a token, so you've got a resource and it was chewing gum. So when you did something, you either chew gum or you kick ass. - It's all out of bubble gum. - Yeah, all out of bubble gum, that's it, yeah. And basically, once you've bunned through your resources, you're basically done. - Like the example I've seen. - Yeah, all out of it. - Maybe it's a kind of a good exact name, but is that someone? - Someone explained it to me, it was like, you in front of it though, you have bubble gum, you can open it though. - You run out of bubble gum, well, the only thing that's left is to be kicked ass. You can only kick down the door, that's honestly. - It's like, I think that was the, because it's the fucking bubble gum. It's like, I'm here to chew ass and kick bubble gum. - Yeah, I know, I know more, I know more, I know more. - Yeah. - Yeah, it's like that, that's something that it's worth. Shame, I'm not reading them. - No, that is really good concept, but I wonder what I think. I hope it did need a bit of a player-bain. It's not fun that you run for someone that's never played a TTIP before. Although done well, potentially, it could be a really interesting intro too. - Like, the rules are there, and those rules, the world exists and you're part of the world, and you can tell me things about the world and everything. - That's interesting. So is that kind of what Diceless Systems provide? It's basically a stripped down RPG system to a point where it focuses on an aspect of playing TTI RPGs. - Yeah, yeah. - You'll think you're focusing more on the world interaction. I think Fiasco interacts on more player interaction. I think Alice's missing is probably more on developing a character. - When you got dreaded, it's very much just fucking tempting. - Exactly, you're like, okay, all about sort of setting a scene, setting a boundaries. Is that kind of what, I see the aspect of them is. - Kind of, I think the most interesting thing for me was a removed front on this. - Yes, there's no sort of-- - There's no territory. - There is a variety. - Well, no, it's the scope of the outcome. - As far as it removes your, having to be like, oh fuck, it's hard. - Oh, it's brilliant, I'm thinking of it. - Because it's like, because we were all like, oh, this is what I want to do. That's how I see it happening. - And it removes the, it removes the, oh, they have super cool ideas, but no one can fault for it. - This is weird. - Everyone comes down to failure. - It's very much like, come with a podcast, go ahead and say, "I hate it when you roll your head." And then you roll your damage, you do like one fucking damage. - Yeah, I'm just going to go out to like, "Yeah, it's always fucking bad." - Not even that. Like I think it's removed a lot of, this might pass or this might fail. Instead, it's more, or I need to gather tokens so that, so that I can use them to make things happen to solve the mystery, to solve whatever, to interact with people. But by the way to gain those tokens is to make play your character, to interact with the NPCs on everything I'm out. So it's to still encourage to approach the world, be part of the world, interact with interact with your own characters and the other players' characters, I'll come back to that in a second. But to, in exchange for that resource that you can then use to get things to happen, the way you would with a roll or successful roll normally. I think that was fascinating. The other part is the character seeing, character creation was so fun. Being able to go ask a person on your left one question, person who's right another question, and like having that and having each other kind of help be, it's just like that. - You think candles are similar, yeah. - Yeah. - I think that's interesting. - I like the character creation of 10 candles, because I mean, there was a couple people that were a lot of it confused. Like, oh well, if I'm a lekey, I love this and I love this and all of the harm. Like you've got what you've got on your pockets. - Yeah. - You're not on chef. - You know what I mean? It's like, oh well, maybe I've got like, I've got like, I've got like a, I've got like a backpack and that you've got, what you've got on your pockets. So you've probably got a wallet and a dead smartphone. - Yeah. - That's what you've got. - Just even though we're traveling, oh well, I make a hammer, what does that give me? Like who you've got a hammer? What's the stack? Doesn't have stacks, you've just got a hammer. Just like there's like, there's no fucking, there's not as much as there's depth in 10 candles. There's not like crunchy depth. Like, oh, I've got a bit of equipment. I mean, that's not like, can I game your plane right now? - Yeah. - I thought it was fabulous. I, my concern as a player is that, as somebody that's the end of one's, or GM that one's whatever, I, my concern as a player is that I'm a bit overbearing and take things over. And then I think because I was one of those a bit more lucy, we see, let's say, I needed someone to help a bit to lead the pack a bit because like some players would just like, I don't really know what I can do. It's like, man, there's an interesting, I also made a choice of a weird one, this one for the character creation. We talked about pre-made and every single man. This one is one where if I wanted to, everyone to create a character from scratch, it would have taken longer than the game needs to run, really. - As a reward, but it's so, it's really quite. But this one was on quick, that's my point. That's what I made pre-made. But that still had open questions to ask others, essentially. - Okay. - So they still picked some stuff from for people all ahead of time at random, really. - Yeah. - And then, but they were still some question, like being able to ask the person on your right, like, oh, when did you start trusting me? - Yeah. - Or what is one thing that you really dislike about me? - It's kind of, VTM does that in a way that you, when you complete your character creation, you're like, okay, how does my Cotary watch the interaction points between all the other members of the Cotary? So you create like this big graph of like lines between, like, all right, you, my vampire between this vampire is all we were sired by the same person, this one to that one, or we were, you know, we're kind of work together on whatever project. So it's kind of, it's same thing. Like, you're building those pre-made connections to characters that allows your character to then drive one narratively. - All right. - It leads me to another game. - Yeah. - I talked about here. I talked to you about it when Gran Toe, it was on the podcast, which is one last job. - Yeah. - There we are. - It was fun. It was interesting where it kind of fun to have players sit around the table and like, so what's our characters? And I'm like, yeah. Well, you don't have any. I'm going to treat the next half as we play the game. And they're like, what do you mean? It's like, well, I'm going to introduce a Heist because it's a Heist game. And I'm like, I'm going to be the boss, the guy, you know, Shunzeleven, that starts as something a team. And I'll tell one of them, I know, I'll tell, I say, there is Sally. And it's Sally. She's the best safe cracker. - Yeah. - Why is Sally doing right now? And one of the players has to trace the hands. And say like, oh, I'm Sally. - Yes, but I'm not too cruddy trying to break into a bank or whatever or like, you're gonna be seeing. And it's like, okay, cool. We'll need someone else. Would we need, oh well, they're good. They're just like, lasers and whatever. So we need the Necrobat. And they say, okay, cool. Tell me about the Acrobat or not. It was fun. I feel like it was a mix of me not being comfortable with the system enough. And a mix of the player, not quite grasping some of it through the game. Because through the game, the stuff, like, if someone in the ability, someone goes, I don't remember that time where you did that thing. - Yeah. - Flashback almost. And all that story about you, that legend, that thing, that time where you, and if you build upon it, you get more points and more abilities and more stuff. - Yeah. - I got a bit repetitive during the game in that people were just not being elasier, but it's not that. It's just that I think, I think I could have drawn it a bit differently if I went more familiar with a lot of it. - I think it sounds like people kind of game a fight that a lot of people are trying to wipe rather than - Yeah. - Which is part of it, some of the kind of, but they were just doing checkbox more than, yeah. - I suppose it might be a, you'd never run it before, nobody ever, nobody had ever played it before. - That's it, I think it's probably same as Wonder Home. - I think you put on the discord right any buy and that's what I need. - Yeah, but I think with the right player, exactly that, it would be, I can imagine the right players as well, being like very much like, oh no. I don't remember that time you went, but five guys, like just take a story like immediately. - Yeah, I think, I like, I love the thing of that. And I think that would be a really good fun game to play with the specific group of people. - I think it takes us specifically. - I think it's probably with many games. I think that's probably the kind of game that we'd work based with people that know each other really well and are already really good pals and probably have that same sort of energy. - I'd go even further, I think it'd be for me, like I would even have maybe a session zero where it's like, let's go through the roles together. - Yeah, yeah. - Yeah, let's go through the mechanics and everything. It's not that complex and everything on that, but just different enough from using L-State and Snipe Station. - Let's set expectation, let's understand what that works. And then we'll play the game. - Yeah, totally. And it's funny just thinking about 10 candles, 'cause obviously there's a lot of a dice aspect to 10 candles. - Yeah, it's not the course. - There is dice. - Oh, I was thinking of that. - It's a dice list and alternative, so I think it is. 'Cause I like the hybrid idea of it. - The dice kind of just a secondary. - The candles, the candles. - The fact that everybody shares the dice is fucking good as well. - Yes, I think that's what I really like about it. And I think it's what I really like about pale tides is that dice are technically part of it. D-Six is out there, but that's not the core of what makes pale tides the game it is. You've got the play deck, which is about a built of a five, 'cause I'm five issue, a tarot deck that you, which they'll get into something similar. - Yeah, and your spells, your abilities are all connected to that play deck. And every time they burn through it, you start a new moon phase, which means that I get dreaded as the keeper. You then put two more mage or Arcanoton, which are omens, which means bad shit happens. If you pull it out at any point, and it's just fantastic. And even in like a one shot setting, or even over a campaign, if you feel like the deck's not burning through quick enough, you can add a time aspect, which Paul was kind enough to let us know. - So that's cool. - I head the time that, you know, people have kind of said there's a bit slow on some sessions. So set a timer on your phone, and every half an hour just packed 10 off the top. - I love it. - Because the thing is, is that when characters, they have a path that's connected to the suits, if they pull a card during an ability that is connected to their suit, then they get it for free. They don't get the negative aspect of it. So if you're burning cards off the top and you shuffle that a certain way in a lot of embers are in there, then whoever's playing the ash, which is fucked because they can still do the thing. But they're gonna lose a lot of well power or take a lot of negative aspect to it. And it's really interesting. And I think blended systems like that are really, really cool. - So it runs off a tarot. - Yeah. - This game, "Were the major or can I?" - Yeah, so when you're building the. - Well, I think we picked any. - No, not during the first, not during the first. - I remember why. - No, no, no, so that was, I forgot to add a dill's suit to the deck 'cause it was in the bag. - But no, I was obviously, I only played the second game that you ran. I remember why we didn't come across many, but we were drawing. - We did. Someone drew it a major or can I and got the negative effect of it? I think I can't remember who it was. - I was hoping for him. - But when you build the play deck to begin a session, you put all of the minor or canas like the one through 10 cards of each suit and you take the four face cards, you put them all together and then you take two major or cana and put it into the play deck. And if you pull it out, it's an omen bad stuff there. There's a list of table of each, what each one means and that thing happens. But every time the moon phase changes, you add two more in. But the super cool thing about it is that when you re-reach a new moon phase, magic stops. You basically, you have pissed out through so much of like the magic in the world that the new moon has risen and it's like made either way. - Stop. - Yeah, gives peace. [BLANK_AUDIO] For the rest of that session, Magic stops. It'll reset and then begin in the next session, but for the rest of that session, so they could have like, extra, rapid, early doors. - It really does. - And like they're then gubbed. Like they can still do abilities, but anything that's connected to like, wild power or anything that's connected to like, magic, isn't there spells and stuff? Not the game over. - Social tarot cards. - Yeah, tarot cards is a cool system. - Definitely. - So I do not know tarot. I have had a couple of tarot readings in the past. It was fun, it was silly. I was like, oh yeah, that's as nonsense, but the cards are really price or whatever. So I think I got this game being like, because number one, Grant, how about it? - Here we are. - We talked about this briefly, but I was before you played it. - Yeah. - And the art style, beautiful. And then I was also kind of like, every game I've got is a dice-based system. I want something different. - Definitely. - So Royal Blood is a heist role-playing game. So the way that it works is you are members of the minor arcana. So you are a member of the pentacles, the swords, the ones, the cups, the other tarot. - So those are the four tarot? - No, the chips and the sharks. - Those are the four. - So it's a different suit. - So that is a fifth. - Yeah, and this there is a fifth. And it is called. - The cups, ones, pentacles and swords. - Is the fifth. - As soon as the other tarot, that's fucking great. - Yes, it's the seventh. - It's called the other tarot. Oh my god, what's the call? - The club level, good. - Yeah. - The cups, the ones. Why am I not thinking? - The cups and the ones. - And the other cups, the ones. - And the more cups and the cups from Aguia. - And the cups and the ones in the pentacles and swords. - The cups are actually honestly the only ones I'm finding here. - That's funny. - That's just like your second half. - No, because the ones that I've splout are the major. - The cups, the ones, the pentacles and the swords. And then some unicorn John. - Yeah. - The phoenovarblem. - Yeah. No, so, so the, the. - There's a fifth soon. - And there is a sword. - I don't like this. - Is it just four? 'Cause those are the four suits. - It's just, yeah. So you are one of the minor arcana. You are a member of the. - Lots. - One of these four fanales. - Yeah. - And you can either be, so the thing that's different in Royal Blood is that they're not like the, the king, the queen, the jack. - Yeah, it's page nine. - The queen, the king. - Yeah. - Or the, no, the page the night, the, the Ares, or the, the Ares, yeah, the Ares and the Monarch. - Okay. - So you are one of, one of those four. - One of those four. - Those four across four. - Just 16 different. - Yeah, you can be one of 16 characters. And you, as a group, fight one of the major arcana. So the world, the strength, the high man. - High charge, one of the, yeah. One of the, yeah. What part of the game is building the spread that you're fighting through, that you're sort of fighting against. And every, like, the way that I ran it, and I'm not, I think there's bits that I missed out, but from what I gather, everybody's fun, and which is always what you want. - It's the main thing, yeah. - You, the players have a bit of, like, stake in what happens, what they're fighting against. And then everybody gets tokens that they get to sort of drop on to things, which means that they, maybe there's like an aspect of the spread that are like, I cater bit this. So we're gonna, I want more stake in what this is. This little thing, I don't care about that. I want something, I want to be involved in this thing. So this is a game, had a lot more player - Agency? - Agency, yeah. Players actually got to decide more what they, what they fight, whereas like with D&D, it's like, oh no, you're fighting a red cap, and that's what the DM's planned. Like, that's all you can do. You can't really say, no, no, I want to fight Goblins. And maybe your DM will be like, oh yeah, okay, I can swap things up. - Yeah, and there's no dice in that at all. - No, no dice at all. You, so you draw your characters from the, from the minor or a candidate. You draw what you're fighting from the major or a candidate. All the remaining cards are shuffled together. And you then tell me what you wanted to. - Oh yeah. - Everybody's got four, three powers. You've got a silver analyze, and then one of, like a third one of those. And you basically just draw cards from the deck. If you draw the same as your suit. - Your family, yeah. - As your family, you succeed. Based on what number you get, if you draw on the opposing family, you lose access to that power. - Ooh. - It seemed, it was really cool. I think everybody got it. I hope everybody got it. There was a couple of people. There was a couple of people on my table that like knew a lot of it, Tadol. So I was about like, shit, I know nothing about Tadol. But that's not, there's absolutely no. - Yeah, as long as you know, I mean, the game will tell you the difference with what to do, you need your minor. - Yeah, there's absolutely, like, you don't need to know Tadol. It's just the dice essentially, 'cause all the cards are numbered. So if you draw an eight, you succeed. If you draw an eight of pentacles and you're like one of the other classes, you succeed, but you lose that power. - Yeah. - And it's just a really cool and interesting way. - It sounds incredible. - Yeah, I know it was fantastic. It was great fun. - Should I draw that against him? - I definitely will, 'cause it's very low prep. - I think they only prep you need to do. - So you. - Yeah, they only prep you need to do is like make sure you've split the major arcana from the minor arcana. - Yeah, so you can sit out right here. - So you can manage that so it's like a lot. That's a lot of fucking work. - I know. - Was a nightmare and was struggling for the fuck off. (laughing) - I get frustrated. - But it was like, so they are from the base games I've got the cards in front of me now is absolutely beautiful. - Yeah, they're all bright, they're all colorful, they're all weird. - I mean, so much all-age in this, okay. - And also just over-age cards. - Yeah. - And I was like, I'm doing that a while enough, but it's really, really great. - Yeah, and that's just the minor arcana, the major arcana. - Oh boy. - Even better. - There's a Cyberpunk 2077, I've been titled it earlier in a stand-top. I just wanna frame it. - Yeah, it's just gorgeous. - You don't need to use this tarot. - Got it, oh no. - They only, they only. - Well, they've got a couple extra cards in there. - Yeah, so there's not extras from what I gather, it's just different names for things. - Oh, okay, they've changed. Yeah, the change of names of the-- - The Rikaratoradeg is what, 72? - Yeah. - Oh, crack a name, tell you. - Ow, fuck it, I'm gonna use that name. - I don't know where that title is. - You don't need to know a title. - That's the title. - That's your second, because it's a useless system. - You've got, well, got else as well. - Yes, I also just got one. - Yeah, so they're not funny. - Oh, sorry, it's part of me. - You don't need to use this deck. You can have any tarot. - Yeah. - It's the setting that you can use tarot from, like, you can use traditional tarot. - Yeah. - Or you can use this cyberpunk tarot or whatever. It's just what it is. And like, the deck theme, I suppose, dictates what you do. And what the theme of the game is. But it is all, you're stealing something from someone. - Yeah. - It's just really cool. There's certainly some things I've missed, but it's beautiful. And I am really looking forward to running it again. - Yeah, I can't wait. - It doesn't say how many cards are in it. I think I can find them all. - I want to say it might be. - But I'll take a long time. - Yeah, there's nothing, there's nothing else. - It's the stranger in his suit. - I would say it, yeah. - Oh, the stranger. - I knew it was it, 'cause I remember buying them and being like, no, this is definitely extra shit to make sure I find them. - No, the stranger is a new minor or a cannot. - Right, okay. This stranger is new. - Thank you. - Well then, I guess my first diesel system that I got recently, I was recently there, you came to give me this to Scott from Magna's Realms. - Yeah. - The guys got already in the subreddit. And I'm just like fucking legend, who we need to get on this board, guys. Just quick shout out for Scott. He's been shouting out in promoting roll-weight events and they've read it in for years. And I've not shook your hand and bought you a pint here. And I think that is diabolical. - Hi. - We need to be an accap. - We need to go ahead of them. But he, there he kindly, he's been working on the chaos. This is entirely deck-based. - Yeah. - There's no dice whatsoever. And there he kindly gave us a copy of it, which I'm actually wanting to fucking really break into some business fuck and get it on a table at a roll-weight night. And this little thing right here, this whole deck generates a dungeon with characters for your midnight start sort of playing. And there's all these little deck, and yeah, haven't we looked? It's really cool. So it's got all these little decks inside that will generate, say, the dungeon crawl so the man himself makes a lot of digital maps like online. - And they're phenomenal. Most of them just fucking free as well, which is dynamite like here, just use them as well as like, there's stuff that generates your foes or stuff that generates your characters. So it's great for just pulling it out. I believe the guys on the May Danger podcast are playing it recently. 'Cause I think only one of them is actually something people play that they can watch. They're losing a load of fun, but like you generate your dungeon, you pull out your characters, you immediately start jumping to something. It's perfect for just like one shot on the go. Or if you want, if you're into it, the start of like a longer sort of campaign, like a multi level sort of dungeon run, it sounds absolutely fantastic. And again, this is another example of like, you don't fucking need dice. - Yeah, yeah. - I love that. I know a lot of people obviously are really don't know how to start a campaign. - Yeah. - Don't really how to start a one shot. - Oh, you mean you're positive. - Crack a bunch of fucking cards. - Exactly. I love that idea. - Thinking about cards, not really knowing how to start a game. - Yeah. - I don't know how many of us have tried to run Curse of Stradd. I think I may be the only - I've played a bit. - I do hear that's tried to run it. At the start of that, you draw from Tarot. - Oh, from the Tarotcadec. - The Tarotcadec. - I bought you the Tarotcadec. - Actually. - The two. - Yeah, for this new strategy, different. - Oh really? - Well, it's still Tarotcadec, but it's definitely like a hill is much better. - Okay, cool. - Apparently so. - I really actually quite like, 'cause the Stradd because so bad, there's so much in that, but like drawing from the deck. - Fuck. - You can tell who's the specific beats that you have to meet. - The one daddy. - The one daddy. - I've seen that. - The one daddy. - I've seen that convert that for one shot. They walked a car to win one shot. That was a good idea where you do the Tarotcadec. The cards at the beginning of the one shot. And your strats cast on it. - Totally. - You have to find the three items. - I love the idea of taking something like that and then challenging yourself as a GM to be like, okay, I have no fucking idea what's up. I'm running today. I know we're gonna be in this general setting. Bang, bang, bang, there's four cards. Cool. Sick. I know where I'm starting this story. - But I know of one page CT RPGs. I've seen have that, especially of like peak, like roll for location, roll for plot, roll for item, then you need to grab roll for enemy. - It's so good. - There you go, that's the start right there. - It's like you just kill the kill your cards. Is it like, what can I do? - I don't know what I am. - Say Bogus started the back of it. - Say Bog does, yeah. - So I was like, great, me generated like a fucking block. - One shot, one shot generator. - Amazing. - So fucking good. (upbeat music) - Yeah, the other thing that generates a lot of things are discord, as we are in barreling towards an hour. We will crack out some questions from you find folks in the discord. - I see the cool one, apparently. - We were talking to Joe, as you were talking to Jamie about this. - Yes. - But Jamie asks, how would you let players know, which again, we kind of touched on there a little bit. How would you let players know you'd like to tell a more meaningful story from the one shot slash campaign? And you courage him to act a little bit more seriously, or do you not be too passionate about your idea and accept that people are just gonna interact with it at the end of the day. - It's easy, it's a session, zero. - Well, what would you do at an one shot by people that are turning up at 636? - Yeah, give it a seven. - So I think for me, I always do, like if it's players, especially if it's players I don't know, I will do a pre-flight. - Yeah. - Kind of like, hi, my name's Greg, I use he/him pronouns. We'll go around the table and introduce everyone, introduce your character. Here's some like home rules that I'll use, if it's like D and D for instance, but this is the kind of name, like sexes on the homophobia, and none of that shit. Like, plate how you want, but if it starts to get too round, I'm gonna pull you back and we can run it in, and then obviously let the X, assess the material. - I have, like that conversation, we're having with Jamie, either we can have two things about that. Like, one is because, one in the past and one in the future, recently I've rolled, I've rolled for shoes, and it was really heavily inspired by, Toy Story, I can't of wish I'd gone at the beginning. This is going to be PG-13. - Mm-hmm. - Yeah. - Sex jokes, the, sex toy jokes, and every single nut. Get them out of your system. - Yeah. - And then we play the game. - Yeah. - Yeah. - There was a couple of time, I had to go, "Come on, can we just, "for fuck's sake, "this is a six-year-old bedroom, "like, can we just, "oh, yeah." - I think you managed to hammer lives. - No, you can't be able to, - Kind of feel, - Kind of feel a shoelace said that up clearly. - Yeah. - A bit more clearly at the beginning. - Yeah. - But the future one is, I have joined the cult and but mother ship. - Yes. - I will go run that. - And while I don't think I'm going to go full on horror on every scene I've got that people do, because that's not my, my lane is not my street set. - You ain't got quite the ending, what are you talking about? - Yeah, I could go to the new week. I kind of want to set the tone of, this is, I might not be as allowing anything to happen anymore, because this is still, this is going to be relatively grounded into the physics and reality of the world that you're in. That is the deep scary space. - Motherships are great example for that, because my mum advice for that one, Jamie would be, I try and give a quick blurb, especially with Greg saying, if it's a few people that I maybe don't know, or if they don't plant my table that much, I'd be like, okay, we're playing Spire or Mothership. Everything in space is trying to kill you. You're not a hero, you're not fucking like captain dipshit coming over the hill to psych fucking save the day. You're just some fucking loser having the worst day on your job possible. You've got gossipy powers, you don't have super abilities and stuff like that. And every time you fail a role, you get stressed. And then there's other systems and stuff as well. Like I mean, those Spires are going to example, probably like cool. This is the world of Spire. Conspenses are not only frequent, but usually immediate and usually fucking brittle or they're not any bad. Try and leave the joke characters out of this. It'll be funny for a couple minutes, but then you're probably going to get killed and then set for the next session, watching your mates have fun. Because there's been a few instances where people are like, "Oh, well I'm going to do this." And I'm like, "Do you do that?" And I'm like, "Yeah, I do that." I was like, "Do you know what's happening right now?" And then I'm not, I'm trying to be a dick. And the last thing I want to do is tell something, no, 'cause no is quite a final sort of, no you can't do that, that's a bit shit. But I'll be like, "Are you sure you want to do that?" Like, "Yeah, I want to do the thing." But do you know what's happening? The scene right now is like, "Yeah, I'm just going to do this." Like, "Cool, here's your immediate and severe repercussion." Boom now, this is happening to you. And it was a couple of times I've seen people say, "Well, what am I getting fucking picked on here?" Like, "You're not like a fun. Some players are not good at that." Yeah, this is the. Basically, it'll happen. Okay, well, I want to do this. I want to do this thing, like, cool. If you do that, it's gonna fuck everybody else that they table over it and they're already rolling dice. You're like, "Cool, everybody's all fucked over." And they were playing this version of the one shot because like, anything that you plan is just went through the fucking papers I've done. So, my way of prepping for that is like, there's only so much you can do, but I basically try and set people down like, this is the theme we're going for. This is the world we're in, more importantly, just like, "Spire something, but then like, "I'm like, "I'm like, "Everything up here is straight out of you." "Well, what was the physics of straight out of you?" "If you're fucking, go outside and put a spay shit, "if you open a fucking door, it's only a fucking cartoon, "you'll depressurize the whole fucking ship and everyone's dying." So, the rolls from that, you just die. I think that's an interesting concept because it's almost like people consider this to be imagination, to they never imagine the severity of the consequence. No. And I think mother ships kind of a system that brutally fucking reminds them like, "Listen, if you pop that airlock and you don't have the right gear on, "you're fucking burning from the inside out and you're about to die." That's right. And you've got nae, there's nae, get back, there's nae. "Oh, something's going to revive me." Nope. Did you see that? - What happened before was one of the first moments that the game was played and it was these lads that came along and I've talked to this before and I said, "I want the work, they got access to our console "and they said, I want to depressurize the ship." I mean, do you mean vent the oxygen? You know, I want to depressurize this hull and that'll kill the thing coming after me and I was like, "It will, but do you, I think you mean you want to vent all the oxygen out instead because you've got back so it's not "I want to depressurize the hull." I was like, "Ah, you keep saying that word and I don't think "you think you know what it means?" And I'm like, "Okay, if you do that, "it's like, no, I just want to do it, I'm like, yes, sure." I'm like, "Cool, you, you, you, you, you, and dead." So it's only you this life is a bunch of you, your dead. It's like, why? Because you meant to be having no atmosphere until like 20, you just fucking depressurize your ship and this fucking this orbit of a gas giant, you're dead. So I don't get to roll, you can't roll against the forces of entropy, I'm just wondering, like fucking. - Physics, physics. - You can't do physics, physics will do you. - I try to suggest the black hole, that's the only thing. - No, let people suggest the black hole. - But not that, but that's what I'm saying, like with that whole ship system, there's just stuff, there's the intrinsic scientific drift, like you can't fuck with this. - Because, like, the thing I'm going to run, like spoilers, there's a bit of room for zeniness and fall out just like you more and everything on that. But I still want to make clear to players, I would play it and I need to do that on the night of this is still rooted in ground, grounded in, in physics, and the wall urine is not funny. It's not going to give you any chances. - As you said, you're just regular people. - That's it, you're just, you're heroes, I mean, I'm not gonna put one on the spot. And then doing it from bad, but Vio is playing Mommaship once and wanted to like fret and something with a gun, and then on a space station, I'm like, if that gun goes off, those are chance, it kills everybody here. - I'm afraid of that. - Because the pistol goes back to that, Billet hits the wrong fucking bit and makes a hole on the space, you just die. I can't make you roll for that, there's no death even for against fucking hard vacuum. That's it, and he's not like, hurry for enough. So I mean, because it's like, really easy. - I really want to run a campaign of the last caravan. - Oh, hell yeah. - And I want to run it based off of my favourite book. And I have talked about this many, many times. - Right to a novelisation. - Yes, yes, I want to run it, no, fuck off. I want to run it based on the stand. So the stand is a book about a global pandemic, a white side, 95% of the human population. It is my favourite book. I read it during Covid, which is fucked up my dad. He made me read it, he kept being like, read it, read it. And I'm like, lay me alone, dad. He's like, no, fucking read it. And I'm like, final read it. And it's like my favourite book, it's amazing. And both of the TV ad at patients are really good. - Yeah, yeah. But thematically. - Thematically, like, that's not gonna be a silly game. You can't just run about and dick about it because he, I'm gonna pick pocket money. - Yeah, I mean, you can do that kind of thing. - But if it catches you, you're gonna fucking stow your face in the end. - But even in a darkest moment, there can be moments of first, the flight. - I think that will happen, but yeah. - I think that's, that as a game is, my issue is, I will want it to go away. very specific way. And I know that's not going to happen. And I'm going to have to step back and not be precious. Yeah. You cannot create the book if you don't want to agree with it. Just writing a story. Yeah. No, like I can't do that because that's ridiculous. I want to run it based off it. But I know that I'm going to have to step back and like not be precious about it. And yeah, you can deck about if you if you do decide to play it. Yeah, you can deck about you can have fun, but it is also going to be like, you're going to be on the brink of like dying of starvation or getting a cat and not being able to treat it properly. Or like there's another little there's like an aspect of it that an aspect of the book that I'm trying to figure out how to translate into into like a TTRPG. And I think we talked about it. We got to talk to about it. I think I've kind of managed to figure out something. But like there are going to be specific scenarios that you can't really deck about it. And because you could fully freaking die if you try and do that. So yeah, I'm not going to try and be too precious of it anything because why would I try to be? Yeah. I think that's it. But it's also not going to be a decking about too much. There's a wee bunch of men and which is a just quite a quick one because there's a bunch of stuff that's coming out. It's like a what new TTRPG board games or miniatures games. Are you looking forward to? There's a bunch in the pipeline. I got the easy one. I mean, as mentioned in the last pod Dim Spiral. Oh, fuck yeah. Yeah. That does look fucking good. Dim Spiral. I mean, there's because I mean, I mean, we've got the title for it because it's going to be an episode. It's going to be a inevitable war games fucking episode. There is. We are on towards it. In case we've not fucking been under a rock or not been in the discord or not, it's not spoke to me about absolutely obsessed with blackout. Blackout. I fucking love it. I absolutely love it. I ran demo games for Ancient Robot. Not for long ago. Shout out Ancient Robot. That was fucking loads of fun. Yeah. There was just it's a very well-supported war game. It makes me feel like I'm cheating on Warhammer a little bit because there's a really guys. No, I like Warhammer. I do like Warhammer. I don't think I'm ever going to play a proper full game of 40K again outside of my house. But I still do love Kale team. I love Necrum under. I love Blood Bowl or what I would call small hammer, small hammer is best. The blackout, just the way that it supports it. I'm in there with the fucking I'm not paid for these guys. It sounds like a fucking hammer. I'm in the discord with the creators. And when they bring shit out, they make sure it's balanced before they even fucking release it. So it's not like Warhammer was like, oh, we brought out the big tank and made it 200 quid. And then everybody bought it because it's really good. And now it's fucking over. Tournament met us. Some of me did bad. It's not that at all. Blackout is if you shoot a mother fuck up the mother fucking dies. They've not got hit points. There's no all of you. Seven health left. Nope shot the chest dead. Yeah. Games have it been more running it through an end. But we're like 30 minutes tops. Rappened, rapid, rapid. And they're always bringing out new shit. So I'm looking forward to more blackout coming out. Nice. Because they've got a fraction of space Russians with fucking AKs and shit that I'm all over. So I'm waiting for more of that to come out. I swear I'm really looking forward to that. I'm not looking forward to that coming. Yeah, because you played blackout. You played blackout. You like it because you're going to spend all your money on it. And then I'm not going to be able to buy things I want. What the fuck? It's not true. If I'm honest, I've got many, many games I already won't I need to run. There's nothing that I've seen. I'm like, I need it. Obviously. So what are you, what's your top one that you want to run? Oh my god. My brain is turned off. Of things I've already got. Yeah. I will eventually get to running Braids. I do not know what will happen. Yeah. Obviously. We just got paid. I mean, you fucking just got up and buy those put cash receipts. Yeah. I just like nightmare. I just could not find any good quality cash receipts anywhere apart. Oh, sorry. Just real quick. Speaking of fucking mothership. Wages are sins finally getting chips in. So this was the big thing to choose the night games. Own thing me campaign that has a snag because I bought this like fucking three years ago. Or two years ago when mothership fucking yeah. And it's basically an architect to turn mothership into like, you're all bounty hunters. Yeah. So when you're going from like mission to mission and barely fucking surviving, it's going to your teeth. You've got a little bit more footspot about survival ability because you're like, oh, you've got to properly level up. Yeah, you can so you can live a little bit stuff. But you've got like gear because you know that you're going to go over here and this is going to be a gagoo in it and blah, blah, blah. Or you're going after this motherfucker who's got like a bout on his head. There's all these kind of like framework, the books like fucking like that thing and that's on the way. Yeah. And I was fucking love more mothership because there's another one that was going to get that again tweaks the the playability of mothership called archival. I did see an ancient robot. I had to resist myself combine it where you're actually a documentary team. Oh, and you're trying to seek out this scary stuff for content. Like to film it because people want to go like, yeah, we know something got loose on this ship and killed everybody. Can you go and get like high-res close up fucking video footage of what it is? Like that kind of show that. So that's coming. Well, archival archival is out waves of sins on the way. By the way, Joe, do you get anything that's in the pipe? Yeah, too actually. I don't often do Kickstarter or back. We must say all for the moment. Yeah, I don't have done it in a past. Not done it in a recent years except for two now. One is not actually looking start. I was already funded. I just paid for it on bank it. Yeah. It's the expanded. Oh, yeah, you said we've got us. Yeah, because the earth is like 10 pages and they've done like the printing and actual physical book of it. Yeah, which I'm sure you can forward to coming on next year or so. And the other one is orbital blues. They have campaign recently for the Silicon expansion. So I backed that on a back and I also got addons like there's the previous expansion they've done as well. And fucking love it as well. Like a wee like their pads of like characters just their one and just give it a great great. Yeah, I want the borgs of course. Of course, like the yeah. So I've never saw a juice table and the game I want to play from out your table as orbital blues. Yeah, because I see it's like the game you're you're begging to I don't know what it is about. I feel like it kind of doesn't walk well as a one shot. It kind of doesn't kind of doesn't. I really want to do many campaign of it. I don't know like a 10 session campaign kind of saying like I want you to make it work because I don't know if there's something I'm not I'm wondering the game but I'm wondering the world more than the game. Yeah, just in the YouTube holes that you're all obviously fucking enough and there was like something just doing like a brief lower cover of like or blues and then you just had like cowboy bebo I spuck in sex and fun music in the background and I was like fuck man I want to be a sad space cowboy that's so fucking sick. And no shot out to Elisa but also no I'm not going to let someone be a humanoid dog anymore. She was like her from the Russian space race and as you when we dog and I don't know why I love that. I did not fit the vibe at all but it was fun. I always remember a lot of you know a crab obsessed scientist for some reason that more damage to one of the players trying to heal them then she did before fucking midfuck. Oh yeah we've had that story in the public world. The other thing we haven't had in this pun for is episode that's gone this long so trips a bumper episode to ramp up. That's been right over yeah. Yeah we're in 10. We had a lot to talk about. It has been a while but thank you all for joining us for episode 43. For the road. For podcast we are fast approaching one a week for a year because that's 52. Yeah. But we are over a year we're well into it. We obviously there'll be some a break to recharge recuperate. Get through some it and yeah it's been great to have a good play there again with the chums with the gathered by the government of DMs. I'm going to have more guests and more chat or fucking whatever's all planned of God's. We got I was in the fire gophers in the golf halls whatever the fuck. Oh yeah. But what about Mark coming on we've got Tarkin Donway. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Alex Old Droomath. He's got a nice. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Quite hard to get hold of. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're going to get a they cart on because you can't put the horse before the cat. So good. And then we're going to get angles on just so I can just one show just one show. Yeah. How do you like Mark? English marks. Yeah. I feel like right. He's much as I love me. Oh wait is that like Connie's little molecule of communism? I feel like I feel like I feel like I feel like I'm fucking what? What a band name. What a fuel of popular. Such a like a pop thing. Pop band right? I don't know why that's the first time I'm missing. But I don't know what the band name is. That's the best part of that. As much as I love Marks though he can only clean what's a smelly bass. That angles look like you're last male. Yeah. He's been getting a watch. He's been fucking care of this. Let's all get dressed over here of our YouTube community Let's go for the weather Santa! Thank you so much. Ple Looking Through (Music)
