Episode 14: Super Soaps- It's Always Summer (Home and Away)
38m 17s
This episode of the podcast "OBB" (episode 486) is a comedic and casual discussion among hosts, covering a mix of viral clips, personal anecdotes, and listener-driven questions. The show opens with sponsor ads, including American Express Platinum card perks and Carvana’s car-selling service, before diving into favorite audio clips of the week. One clip features a Detroit news anchor struggling to keep composure while discussing eating beaver meat on a survival show, leading to playful banter about the word "beaver." Another clip captures comedian Bill Burr hilariously commentating on a fight at a Cubs game, which the hosts find unmistakably him. They also recount a D.C. incident where a "suspicious device" shut down streets, only to be revealed as an electronic sex toy, prompting jokes about the bomb squad’s report. The hosts then engage in rapid-fire questions, debating when someone truly becomes an adult (agreeing it’s older than 21, possibly 25 or 30), sharing dumbest divorce reasons like political differences over guns, and discussing culture shocks from travels—such as Amsterdam’s vending machines, Paris’s pervasive smoking, Italy’s unhurried dining, and the Bahamas’ stark safety divides. They also reflect on experiences they’re glad they did once, like skydiving or attending Bonnaroo, but never want to repeat. The episode ends with lighthearted farewells and sponsor plugs, maintaining a playful, irreverent tone throughout.

Here's toast, Roman and Scoop.
Alright, well I thought we had one more to go, apparently we got two more to go.
So we're going to do two more of these shows in our penultimate episode of Banscht, as
toast likes to say, instead of rankings, predictions or hype, we are going to be talking
about beaver meat, dirty fighting, chucky-looking likes, and street closures that you were somewhat
unexpected.
Welcome to OBB Bencht.
This is episode 486.
Well, the Bapasad, my apps, thank you.
My favorite audio of the week, I have to put you in the box.
It was you!
You're the one with that.
It cats out of the bag.
There it was.
Literally.
My favorite audio of the week was, have you guys seen the clip from Good Day Detroit?
No.
There was a, this is why I love local live and local television.
They were talking about, this was co-anchor, Ryan Amani, he was struggling to keep his
composure as Dina Centrafante, I think is her name, was, she was discussing the history
channel show alone.
They were talking about things you would have to eat out in the wild.
Okay.
This happened.
If you can provide yourself with food, and again, you're, they're now their ice fishing
because everything is frozen, and you're looking for fat in the beaver.
Yeah.
The beaver is the, the beaver is the most sought after.
It is.
The beaver.
Right.
It is.
Ryan, would you, do you think you could eat beaver?
It's fat.
And then it's meat.
They were going to whole sick though.
They're all sick after it.
Well, you can't eat disease at all.
What about a moose?
Yeah.
What about a moose?
I don't know anything about this girl, Dina, but you're really funny, you are a really
funny gal.
Hold on.
Did anyone take up on the fact that he said, what about the knuckle?
That was raw.
I already wrote it down as a show title.
What do you mean, Dina?
Thank you.
I did it.
And the whole time I'm listening to this, and I'm like, I don't care about you, Jen.
I know.
I mean, Jen's got to think that's funny.
It's funny because it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it is.
It is.
It is.
It's not a word.
It's not a word.
It's not a word.
It's not a word.
It's not a word.
I mean, one day, who was the first Neanderthal to be like, I want to call it a beaver.
I want to beaver.
You can't be eating on a beaver again sick.
That's just a bad beaver.
Oh, no.
Do you think you can eat beaver?
I would hope so.
It's the most sought after.
It is.
It is.
It is.
She's preaching the gospel.
I got to tell you.
She's not wrong.
Frozen wasteland, Tundra, you need to eat to beaver.
I can't understand why Jen doesn't like the show.
I know.
Well, she's certainly not, she's certainly not going to like it after we play the clip from,
uh, after we play the clip from Riggly, she's, she's, Jen's certainly not going to like
our next story.
The huge fight to broke out in the stands at, uh, Riggly the other night, this past Monday.
White socks and cubs, huge fight breaks out in the stands and the fight had got ugly
in the sense that I'm not sure what this guy's move is here.
He's a witness.
He's, he's an eyewitness to the fight and he's cheering these two gentlemen on with some
on advice.
He said it like not to hold on and sounds like, uh, Bill Burr, it does sound like Bill
Burr.
It is Bill Burr.
That's a thing.
Yeah.
It is Bill Burr.
Oh my god.
I was like, wait, I've heard that before.
That's Bill Burr.
Oh my god.
You can't, you can't tell me it's not, and then come and grab him.
Man, this damn you, I do it.
clips back to back, Jenna. What do you need? I need the
laryngeitis lady. And I need that one back to back. Please do
it for me. Drum roll, please.
Grab a stick, twist it, pick my balls at it. Yeah,
that's pretty good. All right. Big go. We look to make
Robin laugh. All right, two more quick pieces audio. And then
we will get to the only reason why that clip is so
great is because you are 100%. It's billboard. It
is sounds just like, dude, you listen to our shows and I love
them these my buddy. And as soon as I walked into the other
day in the morning, guys, look, my balls. He said it
things from this show, man, because you can't, if you listen
to that and you don't laugh, we can't be friends. Yeah, how
many times, how many times has someone who's listening to this
show looked at you and said, Oh, no, this is not good. I
can't, I've told you that it's times that it's it's, it's
it happens in my house all the time on the record. It's not
even me. It's not even me. Somebody will say, Oh, no, and
one of the other women in the house will say, this is not good.
Like it's all the time. It's got this show. We all the
time, can you imagine that this guy randomly said a line that
and then we'll randomly drop you know how many times we've
quoted you in our house and our home house are home, our
listeners. You've probably been quoted. I probably a million
times, my friend. And then after somebody says that inevitably
somebody else will go, this is really not good. There's always a
follow-up in there. I think it's like a David spade type.
Right? That sounds like David spade. This is really bad.
That's really bad. Really bad. Don't do that. All right, just
I have a fire fighter. Yeah, I know those guys. Yeah, related
to so there was a suspicious object that shut down streets in
Washington DC outside of a firehouse. Earlier in the week,
police were called to the fire station. And this was on
Wisconsin Avenue in DC. Let's go to DC local news for the
reveal and what happened. And we have an update on the
suspicious device that snarled a rush hour traffic in
downtown this morning. Police now tell us it was actually a
sex toy. This happened at the fire station on Wisconsin
Avenue near Warren Street around 7 o'clock this morning.
Officers cleared the scene about two hours later.
Took two hours. I know exactly how that went. Is there a WNVA
arena nearby? Yeah, I know exactly how that went. Right down
the street. All right, I live and work
with these these these animals. I'm pretty sure that was in
somebody's bed at one time and they did not like it and decided
to chuck it right on to Tidley town road. Did she say Tidley
town road? Yeah, something like that. Why do you guys leave
deal those in each other's beds? But hold on a second, they
called the cops? Yeah, they call the cops to the fire station
for how does no one know what this is? Can I explain that to
they literally said, yeah, man, there's a suspicious package
on the road. It's they're not wrong. It's not a suspicious
package. It's suspiciously a package. It's in the room. So it was a
report of a suspicious electronic device with exposed wires
outside the building. And just because you got it. You got to
assume it's a bomb. Nobody have a picture of this thing. Yeah.
No, so you know what it turns out? It says a coronary reports it
was identified as an electronic sex portable pump device.
Oh, what? Right outside the fire station. It's not the sex. That's not a sex
toy. So you realize it's some that there's some freaking
bomb squad dude that was so excited to get out there on a call.
And then afterwards he has to write a recap and he actually had to spell out
electronic sex portable pump device. Yeah, well that made its rounds.
It's not mine. I just take a picture and catch it. It's not mine, baby.
It's not mine. It's just one Austin bow.
Still not mine, baby. Throw it in the street in front of the police. That's my
mother. Austin. That's my mother. One more clip of the week
after the the remember this lady. It looks like you went and got a blowjob.
Remember that lady from the QVC? Yeah. We've had a bunch more random QVC
stuff pop up. I want to play you my favorite. This is why
they stopped taking live calls on QVC. And the thing I think you're going to
really like is it's a live television show and Rosalie didn't want to
be interrupted on the phone. So we're going to let her take care of whoever
was interrupting. We're going to show you all of the colors available in our
in our denim and comedy. I know Rosalie's on the phone.
She was on the phone. I was I knew that's the laryngeitis girl.
You know, lick my ball. That's her grandma.
Oh my god. Can you imagine like having to spend any time
with a QVC host? No. No. That anyone in that studio?
I'm with you. That whole thing. I was like, I'd much rather be with the old woman
in her living room. What? What is that? What is that? Oh, god.
Just imagine that wiggled me out. Honestly, hurt. That's wiggled me out.
I heard not knowing how to read five minutes in in a closed space.
I tear my skin off that woman. That was. I was out of
the job. Things in my ears. That's the JV squad of the viewer right there.
Bolly. There's a lot of there's a lot of don't ever play that again. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I can't. I cannot handle.
VC tails. Holy tails for a QVC. It's like nails with a chocolate or a scoop. New segment. All right.

And on that down to it.
All right, what's the gins?
Grab a stick and twist it!
You get one million dollars, but you have to listen to one song for 24 hours straight.
What song are you risking your sanity for?
Awesome loop.
I think this is easy for me. Really?
Yes.
I don't know.
What are you going with, Rob?
Give, see, I think this is so easy. You guys are thinking yourself right now.
No, I'm just trying to think of the longest song that I know.
I'm working on it.
I won't stairway to heaven, but I'm like going to drive me insane.
No, I'll just give me any Vivaldi piece on a loop.
Just classical music. Just let it just keep going on in the background.
You won't pay the tickets to it after a while. I think it's easy.
Vivaldi is like 40 minutes long each.
No, I mean, some of them are just like two to three minutes.
None like Vivaldi doesn't really make long classical pieces.
I listen to them all the time, so I know.
I can just put on a nice jam piece of grateful dead.
They're all at the same song anyway.
We'll survive.
That video when I was a kid.
It just spooked me because of the skeletons playing the drums.
I'm like, oh, no, one million.
But you have to listen to one song for 24 hours straight.
What is it?
Yeah, I'm going with the longest song that I know.
I don't know what that is, though.
You're going to go bohemian, right?
The O4 tuna or something?
O4 tuna.
I'm the O4 tuna.
For play a long time.
This is such-- I mean, when you add both of them by button,
I mean, it gets on.
I certainly am not doing a green day song.
So you hear that 37,000 times.
Oh, my goodness.
You're definitely throwing yourself out of a window.
They're a minute and 40 long.
You're going to listen to it like five times more often.
Do you have the time now?
Oh, I know.
I'm out of time.
I'm out of time, bro.
Yeah.
Now I know why you're a basket case.
You listen to your own music.
I'm going to go bohemian rap city.
Just because this is the longest song I can think of.
And at least dynamic and interesting.
Wouldn't bore me too much.
I think it's 24 hours, though.
I think there's a good chance you sing it almost every time.
You're going to sing it so many things.
You just have to sing it.
You have to do the head banger part every time.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
Yeah, you have to do it.
Do you think you'll go no more than two?
Come on, scoopy, you're good with music.
Give me one.
What do you listen to?
Yeah, I got one that you guys-- you've got 100% a laugh at me for.
Well, I'm going to go with a Taylor Swift song.
I'm going to go with a Taylor Swift.
I'm going to go all too well, the 10-minute version.
Because it is-- I don't know if it's a 10-minute version.
Sorry, and I never knew that there was a 10-minute version.
But you have the 10-minute version.
I have the girl too, but my girl's not a Swift-y, so.
But the song is awesome.
The song is great.
It's chill.
I get it over 24 hours easily.
And never get bored.
It's-- because it'll never drive you nuts.
A person, question number two, is considered an adult
from 18 to 21.
Most punishments, anyways.
But in reality, when do you think someone becomes an adult?
I mean, I thought I was an adult when I was 13.
But now with these kids, I don't know.
Kids are kids.
Man, this is about your life experiences.
The number of these days.
Oh, that phone is like--
A guitar man.
Yeah, that phone.
I went by a bus stop today.
I'm my way to work.
And now, obviously, the high school kids
around earlier on the stage, I would go to--
there was like 14 of them.
Yeah.
All like this.
Not a single person talking to each other.
Not as-- yeah.
And I was just like, you guys, we're doomed.
They have no social interaction skills.
They have more social media per hour than we ever had in our life.
But they can't walk up to a person in real life
and talk to them face-to-face.
They have no idea what to say.
Correct.
So now, I think it's changing because of this generational gap.
I almost want to say, especially for boys.
Bro, you're probably an adult at 25 these days.
You're just so far behind.
Maybe, yeah.
Yeah.
I'm saying today's day and age 25.
OK.
I'll just say if you stick with that idea,
when you can rent a car, there's 25.
When is a company giving you a vehicle
to take the belongs to the--
30?
You're an adult.
About 30, man.
Yeah, it's 125.
So we're saying you're probably in today's day and age 25.
Back in, like, the Revolutionary Warrior,
it is probably like when you were 13.
Better go fight a horse, but--
You were married with four kids at 13.
There are things that kids now would not
be permitted to do that we did.
You can now not just get on your bike and ride away
for the entire day.
Come back when it's dark.
Come back at six.
Never happen.
And fat, I think a parent would get arrested for letting
their kid do that.
Yeah.
First of all, like, my daughter will go off to college in two
years, and I'm going to still know where she is every waking
second because I'm just going to look at my Find Me app.
You know, DCF's showing up at your house.
Yeah, where's your kid?
I don't know.
I mean, literally--
this is like a commercial.
Yeah.
And it said, do you know where your tent--
it's 10 o'clock.
Do you know where your kids are?
Oh, and that's right.
Thanks.
I got to go find that out.
And you know how you found out your mom is still on the porch
and shouted your name as loud as she could.
When you were having your first kiss,
and it was really awkward.
Thanks, is it?
Uh-huh.
Well, she's on government cheese, as we learned.
That's right.
Suez on government.
You've got everything so hopefully.
Hopefully.
You don't work that out.
Suez is a slut.
[LAUGHTER]
It's slinging.
[LAUGHTER]
All right.
All right.
All right.
So we're pretty much in agreement
that it's older than 21 these days.
What's the dumbest reason you have
heard for a couple getting divorced?
The dumbest reason.
I-- for me, it was-- it was a couple.
Literally, she was more on the liberal side.
He was more on a conservative side.
And he wouldn't give up his guns.
[LAUGHTER]
She literally divorced them because he's like,
I'm from West Virginia.
I'm not giving up my guns.
And it's just spiraled from there and I got a divorce.
Did we have the drums before they got married?
Yeah, but I guess she just woke up one day
after some kind of event.
And she's like, you just get rid of your guns.
He's like, no, I'm not doing it.
Yeah, that's not.
Yeah.
That's interesting.
Yeah.
That's a good one.
I don't have any answer for this.
I don't know really anyone that's--
I only know a couple of gotten divorces.
And it was for Wander and Dixon, bro.
Yeah.
WDS.
WDS.
That's what I was going to say.
She's probably a valid reason.
Right?
That's so sad, you know what I mean?
I guess that isn't dumb reason.
I mean, you know, if it was going to cost you a ton of money,
that definitely is.
I know.
I think you do what Dickies do.
OK, all right.
Let's go on question number three.
What's the-- oh, wait, that was it.
That was question number four.
What was your biggest culture shock
when you visited another country?
Like, you went to this country and you're like, wow,
it's really different here.
A good way or a bad way?
Oh, this is 20 years, 25 years ago.
But when I went to Amsterdam when I proposed to Jen,
I had never seen vending machines use the way they do in Europe
with, like, literal, like, alcohols or just vending machines
with just sandwiches, and it was just bizarre.
It was like, yeah, like, he's walking vending machines.
And that's what people were eating food.
It was whacked.
Yeah, because over here, if you get a vending machine sandwich--
Yeah, no, you're asking for ego, right?
Exactly.
Vending machine tuna sandwich?
I don't think so.
Oh, God, these guys, these people--
Put that tuna out there and back over there
on the way to the beach.
I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know.
Oh, yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, station tuna.
Why not, when you don't?
I don't even know what he's looking at right now.
He's been to a lot of places.
He's just probably more well-traveled than most of us.
I would be, yeah, I'm sure.
It's going to be--
There's an Anthony Bourdain over there.
It's-- I mean, they all have their things.
I think it's-- I don't know.
I mean, one, they ask the question again.
What was your biggest culture shock
when visiting another country?
I would say, I think this past summer, in Paris,
everybody smokes.
Oh, yeah.
Everybody smokes.
Like, I'm talking at the little cafes at 815 in the morning,
all the outside seating.
People have a little baguette, coffee, cigarette, all of them.
So I was really surprised by that, to be honest.
That threw me more than-- I mean, cultures are different.
I guess if it's a culture thing, I don't really
have an answer for a culture thing.
Africa was--
No, that is.
But I was-- that was something that surprised me quite a bit.
Yeah, it's amazing how little I see smoking here now.
Oh, yeah.
I never see people with a cigarette hanging
out of their car window or like, I never see it.
Very rarely.
You know, it's funny, though.
You know where a lot of the Philip Morris people
I ended up like going to?
Like, the people who work for Philip Morris.
Food industry, no, the food industry.
So they own all the vaping zins now?
Yeah, of course.
They got the addition game of a nicotine
of different delivery devices.
You wake up at 12.30 in the morning craving a big mac.
And you think that's actually normal?
No.
All right.
For me, I think the biggest culture thing
when I went to Italy, it's as simple as it sounds.
Like, when you eat in America, it is like--
they have this rhythmic pentameter that everybody follows.
They're going to get your drink.
You're going to come back.
They're going to check on your food.
You're going to be done.
Do you want dessert?
No, here's your check, right?
Shortly after you don't want dessert,
you've got to check on your table.
Well, when you go to Italy, they're
offended that you asked them for a check.
Like, that table is yours for as long as you want.
They don't care.
Sit here.
Yeah, enjoy.
We'll check on you whenever.
To me, that was like a big, cool screenshot.
Because I'm like, I got all the time
in the world to sit here.
Nobody's rushing me to get out of my seat.
This is amazing.
That was my biggest culture shock.
Yeah.
Chili's wants to turn that table.
Yeah.
Oh, for sure.
Over here, that's moving.
Yeah, that's all I'm saying.
Over here, forget it.
Yeah, because that's when they were coming over here
for the World Cup.
They were like, dude, the tipping culture in this country
is insane.
Because you don't tip over there.
No, not at all.
And that's why they're like, I'm getting paid.
You can stay here as long as you want.
I don't care.
Over here, more tips.
More tips.
tables. Jenner, I'm not as well. I'm not as well. Traveled as you guys have only been outside
the US a handful of times, but I'll give you the one that threw me was when you go to the
Bahamas and this always happened. I've seen this couple of times where they have a little
area where you get off the boat NASA or whatever. It's like the straw market or whatever it's called.
And then they have that giant fence along the street. They tell you they're like stay on this
side of the fence. It's free on safety. They're like just don't and then you look kind of like look
over the other side of the fence and there are just people lined up at the street waiting for people
to leave that safe area and cross the street and get into their little corner of the neighborhood.
And it's just like I don't know. It's terrifying. It's just like we've drawn a divide and been like
you're safe here. You're not over there. They just tell you to flat out. There's a thing that
certainly it fish shows and kind of it's a the thing that came from grateful dead shows and it is
an area of the you know you got the whole crew that travels around. So pre show outside of
wherever they're playing there's going to be an area that is known as Shake Down Street.
And it is where the all the crazy shit is going down like the hardcore drugs are out of
like and it is it can be a scary freaking thing to walk by. You're like whoa okay like we're like
this is like the freedom towers right there and this is happening right here. Okay.
Wild wild. All right. Shake Down Street baby. Question number five. Good. What is something
you glad you did once but you'll never do it again. Jump out of an airplane. Yeah that's a good answer.
I've never jumped out of an airplane. Do it. I don't I don't plan on it. No. Yeah I just don't want to
don't want to do it. Incredible bro. No. It's just like your tuna takes. No I'll pass. Incredible.
Yeah but he only wants to but he's done it like gems on like four times. Yeah. That's amazing.
I'll tell you something that I'm glad I did once but I'll never do again Vegas.
I thought you were sick. I don't like Vegas. I don't like Vegas. I've been more than once.
You still don't understand why Jed doesn't like the show. Yeah. I mean that was my in the back
my mind. That was my subconscious answer. I was like I'm going to do my real answer here in Vegas.
It's still here. It's Vegas. Do you know why I was going to say Rome. Rome. Okay.
Yeah. Incredible. Incredible. No reason to ever go back there. Yeah.
It's amazing though. There's way better parts of Italy. Oh yeah for sure.
But to see that history like what? Yeah. What's the question again? Why you never do?
What is something you should never do? What's your never doing? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Just remember your plan. Shannon won tickets to Bonnaroo this year.
We went to Bonnaroo. Okay. Never again. I can imagine going to a festival bro. It's a camp.
There I mean the toilets were. People lined up to take a shower.
Showers cost five bucks. You have to take a shower. I'm like we drove up in the morning.
It rained. The whole farm is just mud and horse crap. The whole farm.
And we got in the car to go home at the end of the night because I'm not staying here.
I'm going home to a place where I can shower. We threw out our shoes.
We got in the car. I said no. All the shoes went into a garbage bag.
Into a big barrel. Good, but we left our shoes there. I threw them away. We didn't bring our shoes home.
Oh, it was fun. I mean the concert experience is super fun. But I'll never do that again.
I mean, I'm going to Vegas for the first time in March to see Metallica at the sphere.
Oh, that's going to be awesome. I know that was my answer. But like if you said,
hey man, you can fit my suitcase and I've never been to Vegas. I've never been to Vegas now.
Wow. Okay. Never in the Vegas. Even in the rock scene. That's. Yeah. I know. Yeah.
I've never been like in different nowadays. I will tell you this. There's an imaginary little person.
And I was very PC by calling them a little person. There's an imaginary little person
with a hair dryer pointing at your face that you can't see.
And when you step out of the plane, you're like, oh my goodness, you're there.
You're going in March. No, Ro is right. No, because he's going in that time.
And it's going in March. We're going to March. It's not. It's not that way in March.
Yeah. But if you go there at any other time, I mean, it's March, bro.
It's. Yeah. It's a Thursday night Saturday that I do concerts, you know, repeat songs.
Oh my goodness. I wait in the summer. Literally. Oh, it's, it's the worst. Yeah. I was
winging at somebody with a hair dryer. It's a lot. It's a lot bigger fan.
I will tell you that the smell of marijuana is pungent from everywhere you go now.
Well, that's my this and so forth. And I know that's your jam. I'm just saying.
No, but that's here. Like, I don't smell marijuana everywhere walking around South Florida.
Now, yeah, it's cars. It's just every more often everywhere. Yeah.
It's an awesome thing. In Atlanta, where it's illegal to.
Marble greed. If I leave my house for, for an afternoon, there is a much greater chance.
Like, significantly greater that I'm going to smell random weed than a random cigarette.
Yeah. That's a culture shock. Like, like, it's totally flip, bro. Like, there's weed.
I see folks driving their cars with it. And instead of a cigarette, they got to join in their
hand hanging out the window for a pre-roll. Yeah, they're in the wrong state. Yeah, you do.
You can't even gamble there. Come on back. What is wrong in Georgia? You guys are like
biblical, man. Yeah. No. If you think about gambling, your marijuana, somebody hits you with a
Bible. No, no. You know, we're happy. We're just going to fly in. I couldn't live there. Oh, my God.
No, it's, it's stuff. Burn up. There. I'll partner up with you, buddy. I'll go to Georgia.
George, man, I do. I love the state, but yeah, it's kind of a lot of drugs. It's no fun state.
No, it's a no fun state. You're right. Fun state. All right.
Is that okay? What do we mean? Oh, man. Oh, my God. What about the knuckle?
Winner. I don't know what else is on this. It's a walkoff. It's a walkoff.
Laughing menopause. I did. I was like, I was sweating so bad. Short bus, Jigsaw.
Tiddly town road. Tiddly town. Tiddly town road. It just sounds like a sickle kid show.
And gas station tuna. Those are all good, but what about the knuckle has to be now?
That's a walkoff. All right. Well, apparently we have more of these
things to do. Sorry. That's this week's episode of Vets. That's another episode in the books.
What are you waiting for? Somebody to kiss you goodbye? Wow. No, no, no, I guess not.
