Episode 11: Return to Osage | We're Alive: Frontier | Season 1
1h 20m 18s
The group embarks on a high-stakes mission to infiltrate Jefferson City, once a center of human dominance, now a site of oppression and division. The narrative blends survival tactics with deep philosophical conflict: Eastern survivors believe the Channou are Earth’s natural immune system, while Western factions view humanity as the true infection. The team must navigate a fortified penitentiary through stealth and climbing, using environmental knowledge to bypass guards and enter the inner yard where enslaved people are processed. Their infiltration is disrupted by a violent ambush, during which a guard is killed with improvised weapons—using a machete, crossbow, and spiked bat. The team operates under tension, balancing violence with morality, as they confront the reality that freeing the enslaved may lead to loss. Throughout, moments of shared vision or memory emerge, offering emotional connection and hope. These experiences underscore a deeper narrative of balance and redemption. As the mission unfolds, the group transitions from mere survival to active resistance, driven by a collective desire to dismantle a corrupt system and restore dignity to the oppressed. The story reflects both the physical dangers of post-apocalyptic survival and the enduring human need for meaning, connection, and justice.
[MUSIC] It took 10 years to push them back, but we did. What was once a prosperous river trade, Mississippi, is now the front line. The Eastern states supply the river states, and what's left of the UA live out their bigger day self-policing. What is the West hiding? Nobody really knows for sure. What were alive, and this is the new frontier. >> Hello, everyone, and welcome back to We're Live Frontier. When we last left our expeditioners, they were knocked out through a bunch of gas canisters after trying to avoid a patrol from Osage, which is previously Jefferson City. >> All three of you wake up next to each other as you slowly start to come back into consciousness as a power of a man stops into the room next to you, gazes down. You can see his giant weapon is peering down at you. >> Sir, would you care to join us? [MUSIC] >> Move, and you die. [MUSIC] >> Daddy! [MUSIC] >> Why are you here? >> We're trying to establish a rail line out West. >> And, well, are you from the city, Jefferson City? >> You came in the machine. >> Yes, you saw that. >> It rained for miles if I heard it everyone did. >> Yeah, well, they have it. >> They, we left it parked somewhere back in Jefferson City. >> Parked is it charitable time? >> Yeah. >> We're going back. >> Where the others, they were more of you. >> They're in a safe place. >> You're going back to the city? >> Yeah. >> Why? >> Well, we're going to kill their leader, and then we're going to take back the rail driver. >> Who leads them now? >> A came on? >> A came on. >> What do you know about him? >> Your equipment's over there. The effects of the gas will wear off short leads, very temporary. >> Thank you. >> Hey, Mark. >> Jenny gets up and she stumbles a little bit. She makes her way over to this new person, and she sits next to him. What can you tell me about them, aside from the fact that they're cannibals? I mean, what? When we came in and we saw these pillars that looked like the infected. >> In fact, what is an infected? >> They were once men, now they're beasts. >> The Channou, the Channou are not an infection, and mankind is the infection. The Channou are the Earth Mother's immune system to wipe away mankind. Is this not known in the East? >> Yeah, we feel differently than that. It's not the most accepted interpretation. >> A lot of folks out there might disagree with you. >> Where is it? >> Can't he just saved our lives? >> You know what I'm talking about, it ain't worth much. >> I do like tense up on the crossbow, and I'm pointed at him, but I'm like, what are you referring to? >> I had a picture, I had a picture, it's in your belongings. >> There. >> I'm going to just walk away, not walk away, but turn my back and look at the picture. >> Yeah, Ken, at this point, you've actually been a lot going on in your mind. You have left behind a lot in order to go on this trip. You left behind Sarah, you left behind Max. At this stage, you're actually starting to feel very alone with this new kind of strange ring here. These people came across you, and they helped you, and they allowed you to come into a place where you could find this very precious momento, but now with two other people left behind. It's a little unnerving for you. >> I don't have much in this world anymore, but what I did have, what I did have still lives right here, because this is all that's left. I can't remember anymore, I can't see his face. >> I check. I'm like, do I feel like we're in any immediate danger? >> While they're out, you check the whole water treatment plant, just to make sure that these were the only three, and I'm not too sure what you would do with the bodies. >> I would have removed my crossbow bolts from them. I would have taken anything that was immediately valuable, and I would have put them back in the river, to drift down the river, although I would not set their boat or drift down the river. You just put the bodies in the river, because anything could have happened to them. >> But by the way, at this point, it is evening, it is dark, it is nighttime. >> I looked at him, and when I see this grief, I put down the crossbow, and I say, you are strangers, but I cannot ignore a warrior's pain. There may be a way to see them again. There may be a way to look upon your wife and child again, but I cannot guarantee. >> I know this is with the glorious death. >> You are quite right, I believe, similarly, but even before, there was a way to peer through the veil for a very short time. You can hear the voice of great spirit, you can hear the voice of the mother if she wishes to speak with you. >> Sometimes you may only witness nightmares, I have no say in this. Your beliefs are different than of those in Osage, is that why you left? >> I did not leave, I was sent away. In my community, exile is worse than death, because man was never meant to walk alone. >> Why haven't you become one of them? >> If you are careful, if you live in balance, it is possible to avoid them. Believe me, I am no fool that your new arm on stress. They wish to consume our flesh, I know this, but you Eastern invaders, you're not so different that your new arm honest, you wish to consume our souls. You know what I'm saying, God, no one is so left, you want to cigarette, you got a light. >> I can promise nothing. I realize you're all strangers, but I feel like perhaps, great spirit has put you in my path and I in yours. I offer it in peace. >> Warrior, or do you wish to wait till you arrive properly? >> I take it from you. >> You can gain morale back. >> Well, I want some too. >> I will stand watch. >> Do we all gain morale? >> Let's do maybe on this, let's do an endurance. All who are partaking in this agreement, let us check endurance to see if it is truly a blessing or a curse that's being brought down upon you. >> I move every pointed item away from them and I kind of go towards a window, just in case to like it. >> Four degrees of success. >> All right. Okay. >> I have one degree of failure. >> Okay. >> All right. >> This is a bad trip. >> I have two degrees of success. >> All right. Let's start with the good stuff. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Good stuff. >> The first time the aroma hits my lungs, I inhale it deep and I feel my body start to just shift in like a gradient from like positive to negative and it's just going to wash us here and then two faces, one of Danny and one of the listen. And they reach out and they hold my hand. When you see Kent, nothing's there but he holds his hands out and he can feel his little boy's hand on his left hand again and he can feel his wife running her fingers through his and the soft bump of her engagement ring. And then he looks between them and there's just white mist between them. And slowly the mist just and they kind of like fade back into it and Ken opens his eyes and he kind of just like leans against the wall.
And it's just got to like, it's there. Obviously, no one else sees this because Jenny, what are you seeing? I got more degrees of success. And I actually, first of all, I want to, I want to feel this rush of confidence and I start to see this plan unfold with Jefferson City. And I see this new comer and I see him being a key player in this and I see him taking the place. So you see this vision? Yes, and I see him taking the place. I'm standing on a hillock just overlooking Osage, which is now Jefferson City. Yes, and the slaves, they're free and came on his dead and in his place is this new. And cheers, and you watch this, what you see inside of Jefferson City now. And this is part of it because at first, this whole thing starts just terribly as you see the grief and the strife that the city currently upholds. And you're watching as the people who are being used as tools, as labor, who are not worthy of the Shannu. And then you also see this shift, this change, as this man who emerges as if like a angel coming into this space and all of the hope is brought back into this world and you can feel a tipping point of civilization that can be created by just one man. And there's a moment, Jenny, in which you feel this realization that one person can make all the difference between a world of bad and a world of good and all it takes is one person to make the right choice or even just the choice. All right, Raith. Raith takes in the medicine and he closes his eyes for a moment. And he sees what looks like a sunset, a beautiful sunset. He feels himself falling beneath the clouds. He's sitting on a plane and he's looking out a window of the plane and he's just come down out of the clouds. You can see that there's a city below and it's surrounded by forest. And he's super excited and he taps the brother on the shoulder and points out the window. And they both start looking and they're looking out the window. And then they notice that the city seems like it's in distress. Like they're burning buildings and crashed vehicles and things are rising and they both look at each other and they're starting to get worried. And then they feel the plane starts to dip a bit and turn. And the angle of the plane changes and it fills the plane with the amber and red light of the sunset. But the plane is starting to lurch and then he hears screams coming from the front of the plane. And it sounds like there's a noise that sounds like a beast like tearing flesh. And he turns to his brother next to him and his brother says to him, "I'm going to get up. I'm going to take care of this." And then he wakes up and he just feels like he didn't want to experience that memory again. It came as all too vivid. You're back now. You're all back now. It's all something about you. No, this is going to sound crazy. But we were supposed to be. And we are. We're going to take down. And you. You're going to replace him. I know. It sounds crazy. But I feel so sure about this. This is what you saw. As clear as I see you now. Your words help truth. Because I did see. I did see them. This point, by the way, it is gone. And you can see as the amber light of the morning sun is peering straight in through the small slatted windows of the water treatment center. That's actually what maybe have even charged you awake. So suddenly, Ray. As I just wanted to remind you all it's no longer night. There's nothing to expect. I've been searching for a way to reach them, to remind them. And you've seen that this can be. Jenny pulls out this passport that has the map drawn in the back, and we start reviewing it. And would you like me to take what you see? Yes, I would love for you to tell me what we see. Right, so from where you're at at the water treatment plant, most of it before the fall was primarily industrial. Everything that you are on the north side of the river. What you actually see behind you is just like old trucking supply stations, areas where they would go and bring in large industrial kind of complexes, and then just it was a routing center. There's even a small air strip that you notice at one point, but at this point looking behind you all you see is the tall grass. Long broken up ages and ages ago. Across the river is Jefferson City. There's a quarry to your right, and there is a feedway leading into where the river is that has a sparse amount of tree coverage right before the river begins. On the other side of the rail from where this spillway is is the state museum, which you recall after passing by this glorious cathedral, what you're now seeing is a state penitentiary, by the way. You actually are seeing the Missouri State Museum is feeding right into it, and Jato, you know that the state museum was converted into essentially the complex of all the ruling elders. You know, what was once ruling elders and as now just came on. I look at your map and I point out small things that I know we changed, like we made this a market. We made this a butcher shop, but I have not been into the city in some time. I don't know if they've made alterations or erected gates or cells or-- Right. --only know the major structures. Our original plan was to go in from the southern side and, well, free the slaves, create some type of buckets, then we would take out came on. If I can get close enough, then I put my hand on my crossbow, and then I take it away, I need to face him. I need to face him. Hey, Martin. Yes. We all need to face him. Where? No matter what injury he has done to you, he has injured ours as well. But if we can, we'll let you have that time. I'm not a young man. I remember the war before. I'm not a fool. But I was raised to believe different things than in my life I have seen to be true. As I said, such a new were sent by the Earth Mother to teach mankind respect. She gave birth to us. As you know, you remember there were many men before. Cavemen, crow magnins, neanderthals, and now there's only us. But you're new are her next children. And we believe they have a leader. His name is Malsumus, the dark one. He stalks the night consuming and consuming and consuming. He does not seek balance. He seeks destruction. And I taught our people we could avoid him or he could be defeated. And came on and others thought that perhaps they could ally themselves with this darkness, that they could become this darkness. And if Malsumus consumes, they must consume. Came on only craves power. The only thing he loves more than power is to be seen as powerful. If he's not there, he will be in a central place. And if I call to him, if I insult him, he will answer. He will answer. Let's get us in a position where you can insult him. Malsumus the last time you saw him, was it at the music?
with the rest of the elders. - Three winters, or the days they blinned. - Five? - I do not know. - Do you think the slaves would rise up? If we somehow were able to free them, do you think they would fight back? - I believe so. They will be frightened as anyone was me. - But if they see me, I believe I can reach them. Are there still those among them who remember you? - Surely we must, yes, surely. I've not been gone so long. And even so, K-MON's followers were never so numerous, but how many people do you have to. before the fourth person bows? They do not love him, they obey him. - We take out what guards we can, and we arm the slaves with the weapons we get from the guards. - We cannot allow one more person to fall under the knife for food. - No, and you saw the bodies in the tent, you saw it. - You know that no matter how useful, these freed men will be as a distraction in a fight many of them will die. They are not warriors. - But they will die as warriors. Always better than as of sheep. I can't help but worry that we are making that choice for them, though. - The choice has been made. - I will abide by your decision. - We're going to start at the slaughterhouse. - Okay. As you gather your materials together, and you begin this trek, leaving the water treatment plant, is there anything else? - I would like to bring the things from these men. The bat, the car shield, all of these things that could be easily handed out. - Can we loot them and see what they have? - I have some raider weapons that I have to give you. There is essentially improvised weapons, bludgeoning. It's a wooden bat that has been made so that you can do slashing and piercing. So we can take, cancee your baseball bat, and we can now turn it into a spiked baseball bat. - Spiked baseball bat, which makes it so it's the same bat, but instead of just doing bludgeoning damage, we'd also just piercing down. - Which I have bonuses too. - Perfect. - Okay, good. - At the same time, let me see. - Just how the smoke situation works. So, unfortunately, he used everything he had. He only had two as far as knockout gas goes. - Roode. - Roode. - Are there any salvageable bits of Kevlar or armor or anything? I know they kind of got worked. - Probably as far as armor goes, you could, the guy who had the big armor on it has been ruined by Raith. He just completely destroyed it. - My bad. I think a lot of the other ones weren't wearing armor, but the shield. - Yes, the shield is still around. And as long as it's being held, that would grant you a defense, especially against ballistics. - Just for now, I'll bring it. I anticipate giving this to someone else, honestly. - Okay. - But at least I theoretically won't get snapped at 400 yards. - Right. - You know ways that we can use the waterways to access some of these sites within the city. - The tunnel should be safe. Came on is vain, but he is not completely foolish. We should keep an eye out for maybe small traps, tripwires, but they were probably not be heavily guarded because he knows that you're new to not into the caves and he expects no other attacks. We're tunnels. - Raith, I want you to lead us and check. - Yes, let us make a few more preparations. - Right. - What do you need? - When, when should we leave? First of all, is it, is, came on more accessible at night or during the day? - It's early morning, not like a, yeah. - It's early, it's like 7 a.m. - Okay. - Do you know anything about the schedule that people in the city keep? - I look at the sun and say, by now, they would be moving the workers out, preparing the slaughter for lunch. It's probably a good time to attempt to get into position, to at least survey the place. Everyone will be preparing the work of the day. I say we get in, get to the slaughterhouse. It's not your fight, but I appreciate your help. If you find the opportunity to escape and return to your homes, there will be no dishonor in this. - And we don't have any homes. - So, are we taking it out for the evening? - Slaughterhouse. - Slaughterhouse. - Yes. - All right, so you walk about half a mile or so, back east, as you continue to survey the area, you keep low. It's far enough across the river, no one's likely to see you. And as you make your way back down the river, you can actually see an eight-story building. It's hard to miss. It's a giant, giant, state prison. And you can see that the marks of came on and various glyphs and effects have been painted onto it over the course of years. A lot of the old symbols that you are familiar with would have been either adjusted or changed completely. Over time, just west of the penitentiary farther down river, you can see this giant slave pit, the built-in, cragged metal that makes it jarring inward turn as it essentially makes some kind of shelter as it is completely open, but all of the jagged points point inward prevent any kind of upward ascending climb over. As you accurately described, they're leading people out from the pens as they begin to start maneuvering the work and for the day. Crossing the river, well, how do you cross the river? - How big was the boat? The boat that the-- - They came over in on? - Right, yeah. Was the river flowing the right direction relative to where we are, first of all? We established the river was flowing this way, yeah. - Yeah, well, isn't that so much easier to take the boats over? Yes, if you wanted to take the raiders' boats and push them back downstream in order to kind of control where you dock, so to speak, where the penitentiary is, yes, I'm just going to see, as your profile will be much bigger with boats in the water. - Oh, okay. - You should probably get us to just park at the penitentiary, - That's right. - That side of the river. - That's absolutely right. - That's right. Right now that looks clear, we may want to take it, so. - Except you, you can take the boats over, you'll have a bigger profile crossing the water. That's all. - We all just took a big hit of P and P and O.D. too, so. - I mean, not that I would know, does the rain. - The disnoirs may have affected the balance a little bit. - Okay. - Oh, that's a good point. Depletion, or difficulty dies for everyone who took the P and O.T. - That's right in the mouth. I'm like, if you all are clearly wobble. - All right, we'll get in the boat. - All right. - And we'll just make sure that we-- - Make it straight cut. - Right, like it always is quickly as possible, as you can diagonal across the running water. - And I'll give you the bend of the doubt. This is that as you're crossing over, you're crossing over from tree cover, going into tree cover. - Cool. - On the other side of the boat. - Like that. - It would make the most amount of sense. You cross the river without incident. You basically walk over. You can see that you paddle over on both sides of the canoe quickly and keep your heads down as you're continuing to move. And you pretty much cut across it in less than five minutes. Just right in there. Pull the boat into the trees. - Great. - Mm-hmm. - You kind of can see the large portion of the giant eight-story penitentiary that's laid out in front of you. It's huge and it's imposing. And you can see it's just like ants. People are kind of milling in and milling out around it. - At this point, you can actually see that the park is filled with hundreds of people. It's insane that they can spit that many people on such a small amount of space. - Did you get any of those radar items, by the way? - I should probably pick that up and my stuff too. - Why don't you go get them if they're in the boxes? - They should be in the boxes, right? - If they're in the boxes. - I'm wary of the walls now. (laughing) - My only friends, his walls had eyes. - Exactly. - Oh, interesting. Interesting. That might meet another pair of hands here. There's more than what we were told. That's a pleasant surprise for once. - Yeah. - It's like we have an MP5. - Nice. - I believe that was yours, good sir. Have a bone? - Okay, good. (laughing) - I got a table leg. - Yeah. - Beautiful. - Do you like that? - Yes. - And two smaller blades. - Those are both improvised slashing weapons. Then you've got the baseball bat. And then of course, your personal bat. - Excellent. - So as you unload everything into your holding space, which we're assuming you're carrying on you. Yes, a machine pistol, a very nasty looking baseball bat. Some improvised bludgeoning weapons, aka a bone. As well as some improvised slashing weapons, which are some of the raiders knives and items. We explained the riot shield as earlier. And yeah, that seems to be about covering it. - I would like to tuck that pistol in my bag belt. - Okay. - Well, it's a machine pistol. There's no tucking it into a coat. If you'd like to put it in a bag, you could. Or if it's that big, I don't need it. - Yes. - Okay.
then where is it going? It's staying here. You could make a sling for it. Keep it tucked under your coat. Hanging. We could leave it by the escape route and try to get out of your alive. Just in case we got one extra gun at the end. I really think we should take everyone up and I think we need everything, right? Do any of you have a handgun? You'd be willing to trade, just a simple pistol. I can give you one. In that case, I will hand her. All right, the machine pistol, and I will tuck this pistol in my back's belt. Ray could use it instead of his pistol. All right, and you've got the bag set as well too. Plus so many belts and straps and items to 7 MP5 somewhere. Ray takes off one of his studded belts and retrofits it into a sling, and then slides it back so he's got it hanging at his side. As you move, it kind of like sloppily slaps against the side of you in it. No, no, no, I know what I'm doing. Yeah, okay. This may look jangly all this sort of stuff, but it's silent. It's purposeful. It's purposeful. Good, good, good. Yeah, so we'll pick this back up with you guys across the river on the southern end. As you can see on the other side of the tree cover that you've parked the boat on, you can see the penitentiary. It looms over you as you can see this old world item that was used to keep people in and out of society. It's now being used to, well, as a glorified refrigerator. What would you like to do? How would you like to approach this situation? What's the plan? Are there any like obvious guard like a person standing with a machine gun one? Yes. So you can see that all of the slaves that are being driven in and around are being guarded by armed guards. And they are very well weaponized. You can see they have every type of firearm available to them. You know, short carbines to long guns to reduce an AK-47. It just happens to be there. And they seem to be doing the great job of standing on pedestals, looking intimidating and watching as the workforce is being dragged out. You also can hear the tail, tail crack of a bullwhip as it is just echoing through the southern side of Jefferson City. We don't see how many guards there are. You can see about four. I believe the guards are there to help intimidate the slaves to keep them from revolting. But they may not be there specifically to guard the main entrance. Yeah, you're mostly watching them walk the column into the penitentiary. Now the penitentiary has very high walls with guard towers on them. But it's so much space. It's kind of from where you're at. You can actually see the penitentiary is through the right of you. And again, there's just all this tree cover that's kind of giving you an opportunity to kind of peer through everything. You can always power as manned? No. Okay. No, that's the thing about the penitentiary is it doesn't look manned at all. It looks like the only people who are really doing anything are the ones that are bringing people in. How much open space is between the tree line and the fence? The tree line in the open fence is about 100 feet or so. There's actually a small kind of side road that goes uphill. So in front of you, you can actually see as the tree line curves up into a hill. And part of why you're getting the good covers because this penitentiary is sitting low and you are essentially on a on a high part of the hill, all right? And there is a winding trail that comes down leading into the main entrance of the prison. That is the trail in which the slaves are being walked around a kind of like criss crosses as they are all walking downhill. There is any way to sneak inside there without having to well go full out right now. I want to get in there and start from the inside. And there's no reason to attack from the front. So is there any, I mean, can you look around and see if there's some sort of alternate entrance? Yeah, I want to look and see if like near maybe near one of the other guard towers like if it's angled around. If there's something that's out of the eye line of the guard. So you can look down the rail a little bit and not only do you see that the wall has been broken in several places and maybe enough so that you could climb up if you investigate a little closer. But it's also close enough through the rail line that you can see that box cars are prolific all along the side of this building. Okay, we should move from cover to cover the box cars and there that weak point with the wall is broken. That's our access. Need to wait. Great, so I'll make a self-check. All of us. Floresely enough just raised because he's taking point. All right, I have three degrees of success. All right, merit it for me. I take a look and I kind of time it so at the point where the guards are, you know, looking at the, I wait until like, you know, one of them start saying something to a slave and then I just move forward quickly from box car to box car, you know, slapping myself up against them and then motioning to the rest of the group when good timing is to stop or to group up and then yeah, that we make it over or slightly around the corner at the broken wall. Yeah, you can actually see as part of the the the morning sun is actually giving you a kind of long shadow. That's casting upon your side of the wall of this wall. Yeah, and I start uncoiling rope from my climbing kit and getting ready to and then I, you know, throw it up over the wall and then I guess at this point I got to make a climbing check. Yeah, I was going to say for those three of degrees of success, you got on the on the stealth one to get there, one to get the team and let's call it one to start just getting all the climbing gear ready to throw items up. Okay, yeah, everyone's going to need climbing checks on this one, but you basically get it up there. Yeah, can I set it up in a way that it makes it easier for the rest of them? Yeah, if you climb up first and set opinions, if you just start using this thing, yeah, that's my intention. All right, then you're going to actually use the climbing gear, which means it's going to require a depletion point. All right, and then you make the climb check first. Okay, I have good climbing also, I believe. Yeah, decent climbs. All right, so that's an eight. Yes, that's I'm pretty sure that's five degrees of success. Let me check. Yeah, it's easily five degrees of success. Okay, yes, excellent. Roll my depletion for it. Impressive. I got a three. No, you're fine. Yeah, I run at the wall and basically just jump. Yeah, and then like kind of step up at like a cat. Yeah, I use the little things, they look like kind of like binder clips, like little wedges. You put them inside the little cracks in the wall and you release it and it opens up and then there's a little eyelet and I run the rope through it. So as you run up and release these kind of, do you know what they're called? Do hikis. That is the technical term. As you place these do hikis up and up and you start laying the line making sure that anyone should slip and fall. You basically have them at the very top to be able to support. I will give everyone one degree of success pace before they even roll on their climb check for this. Okay. So roll up the climb. I will go lie down. You guarantee one degree of success. So three total including your bonus. Great. Two degrees of failure. Okay, four degrees of success including the one. Since I'm after her, can I give up to a mind to just like steady her as she's slipping? Sounds good to me. So narrate this out for me. I go second and I'm able to navigate easier because I have good climbing skill and I'm able to make me under my way up the wedges that rath is left. I also managed to grab a few of the bigger supply chunks and pull that up. Four degrees of success as well too. Exactly. I think that's worthy of some survival points. I can either give you information or stuff, which would you prefer? I want information on how we're going to us looking for a safely. We don't get determined. Okay. I want information. It tickles you. Yeah. As you're climbing up and like you said, you're using your climbing skill as well as these wedges that he's raised has put inside of it. You kind of look over to your left out to where the camp is. And you can see what I described earlier as this cat. Just muddy, dirty area of people, of which is they just have put as many people as they can in there in one particular area. And it is hundreds of folks at this stage. You see most of them are muddy and nearly naked as these kind of ramshackle converted tents are pretty much the only cover they get as this crazy steel structure is just mocking them as it just lays out on top. But you can also see from the advantage point in there is that those four guards that you see are escorting people out from the slave pits are it. That's all you can see. And as you're lifting up higher, you look to your right and you can see city
Hall, which is about four blocks away from where you are. And at this stage, you're seeing all of Osage kind of laid out in front of you. And you can see that the entire city is basically one strip of repurposed town from east to west along the river, going from poorest to richest, kind of the central point being this giant capital building. The people below, we should make sure that the chart is the first one they see. I can only see four guards, and that looks like it's it. And these are all on the outside. These are all on the outside. And Ken, since you're the second one up, and he's helping other people out. Hey, it's Hillary Frank, host of The Longest Shortest Time, a women's health podcast for everyone. And exciting news. I've got a new original audiobook. It's called Wedlocked, and it's a thriller about the pressure on women to smile through pain. There's marital strife, gaslighting, gynecology, and creepy music, which is running under me right now. If you like thrillers with a social message, like Get Out, Promising Young Woman, then Wedlocked is for you. Get it now wherever you buy audiobooks. I will tell you that as you climb over this wall, you realize that the buildings are much higher than the walls. And as you're basically making this climb up, you can see a couple of shorter, like two-story barracks, kind of a situation, but then there is another layer before you even get into the penitentiary itself. You're kind of just getting into the grounds at the moment. It's like the lower grounds of the building. I wonder if they keep the majority of people in a deeper sanctum, or maybe those are just more important prisoners. This may be the bulk, this may be the greatest number. There's a lot of their food supply. Go for the greatest number. Forward, yeah. So you hop down from that side, and if you're pelled down, and then make it into this graveyard of old buildings that may have once been used for either worksheds or some kind of machine yard that prisoners may have used to work at. But the sun is starting to get hot, as it starts to lift itself up, making its way to its zenith, that an empty yard that you basically can walk through the next 200 feet or so. So is your making the 100 to 200 foot dash through until you get to another set of walls? Which, then, flare-broken, craggy, and completely unattended to as well? OK, didn't look like there was anybody covering. No, you looked up to the tall building, you can kind of see the lonely, desolate, stone monstrosity that's to the side of you, and it's amazing that so few people could use up so much space. We're getting closer, it's because we doesn't see anyone, doesn't mean there isn't anyone. I know when I was on the first wall, by the prisoners, there are armed guards. I think we need to be extra careful going into this last wall. They're still all outside though, yes? Yes, but they may have moved by now. There may be ones in the yard who, although they are not good at their jobs, are there to keep the prisoners in order. Yes, they've grown lazy. We must not repeat that mistake. So are you going to be climbing this wall as well, too? Yeah. Roll depletion and then roll your climb again. Let's do the same thing. Two depletion dice for this time. I can use mine instead of climbing your two and just get one depletion out of mine. So do you, or are we going to do that? Yeah, sure. Sure, go ahead. Well, let's do it together. You can at least both make checks with your gear, right? Yes, you both make checks. But he's the one who's going to be going up first in that circumstances, unless he's just handing you the equipment and he's making the check. All right. Then you can just use-- he can use his skill, but it's your gear, your roll depletion for that gear. Does it make sense? Yeah, absolutely, yeah. What's your climbing eye? You have seen me climb. You climb as well? You've known to scale a few redwood here and there. All right. I let him go first then. But I will follow up all the same time. Again, you'll be rolling the dice quickly, yes. OK. He's just-- the benefit will be if he makes the success with the gear. Yeah, I have one degree of success. Great. You get up there, people get the bonus. OK. Oh, we will. We'll go last. Go ahead. And then this. Fall massively. Three degrees of failure. All right. Oh, but I have-- that's a seven, right? So I have five. Yeah, go ahead. That's a seven, right? That's a seven. Four degrees of success. So I'm going to help you. Oh, all right. Three. Can I use them all to just-- Yes. Jenny, as you meet up with Kent, you watch as both Raith and Chateau decide speed is more important at this point. And they both-- well, Chateau actually decides maybe at this point speed is more important. And he gets on the wall while Raith is still climbing, adding to the amount weight that these players have. And as they're about halfway, maybe three quarters up, you can start to hear pins being pulled out as Kent, who may have not been paying attention because he was looking over the side. But you, looking down there, dig your heels in in a way and your tiny frame just holds onto both of them as they have to finish scaling up on their own. But you basically are sitting there with-- and you can feel all the blood circulation getting cut off on your arms as you're basically supporting the weight of these two men before Kent has an opportunity to come and bounce the weight up with you. Yeah, thank you. All right, also, if you make it up to the top and crouching down, you can start to see this yard is definitely the one, which people are being brought in. And you can see that, to a certain point, you're familiar with this being a slaughterhouse. But a lot of these people look confused or just flat out terrified. There's a good chance that whatever fate they're deemed for, they don't know about. At least, it's abundantly clear. It doesn't seem like this is any kind of processing center. This doesn't seem like anything sinister is going on. It just looks like they're being slowly led into the building at this point. Can we see the guards? Yes, they're walking alongside with them the same way they would expect a chain gang to be walking along with armed guards. Are there any that are separate or off kind of by themselves? No, they're all grouped in. And there are how many or two to a side. And is there any entrance aside from this main entrance that they're hurting everyone into? Is there some type of-- They're all walking across the yard to go up into the second level of the tent. OK. And there's no other way to get into that second level. It's just-- oh, well, you can climb a third wall, which is the one you're on top of, which is built off of the one that you're on top of. You have to think of this thing. Oh, correct. Yes, almost like a-- like some kind of keeper fort in which it's like there is a ground level, and then another level built on top of that and then a third. Zugurat is literally the best analogy that I have for it. It is a penitentiary Zugurat that is having to be led up. And so it'll occasionally have a sharp incline as the prisoners are being led up hill into the main building. You're on the first tier, so to speak. Oh, OK. I thought we were on the second one by now. Oh, you're up in there. But again, it's the yard. You've been hopping over-- Oh, the third tier is the actual building itself. I mean, they're going to the second floor of it. Yeah, because you're on the wall of the yards at this stage. Yards are on the ground. And the yards are where the people are. The yards are where the people are. And they're being walked up to the gates leading to the second tier. Are there any people like immediately beneath us? Or are they more being processed in? You would have to walk along the walls in order to get to where the gates opened, which you could do at this point. You're in essentially what used to be guard walls, all right? However, that being said, guard walls were meant to make sure that prisoners could always see guards. So you would be running along fairly exposed at this stage. I motion at your bow and say, how fast can you kill him? My arrow is precise, but there may be others who notice. These people, when they see it happen, I guarantee at least one of them will scream. But scream, common, and a slave factory, the gunshot is not agreed. So I look to her, basically, to see if she's cool with me shooting somebody. Yeah, I shoot when she guards. Well, I want to take out as many as-- I don't know. Do we use a splash grenade and just kill them as quickly as we can? Well, that'll disorient a bunch of people. Minded disorient, yeah, but it won't hurt them. I mean, it will definitely draw attention, which is what we don't want. Right. OK. What if we somehow-- we see that they're being brought in. We see that there's another level. We know that there's a doorway. What if we could get above the doorway on that third level through the wall? We walk along the wall through the connector to the zigger and then up on the side so that--
Set up an ambush set up an ambush so that when the right one off they finish Jumping that first load and those four guards go back to the pens. We can drop right down on them right there Is that what the geographies like with that work? You'd have to climb the second tier wall But then yes, you could actually in theory be right on top of them as they go in through the second gate How much of a clamor are we talking like relative to the wall? So you're already easily 20 or 30 feet up you'd be scaling another 20 or 30 feet up So you'd be sitting about a hundred feet above the yard as they start to climb up hill and how far away is the next wall from the current wall We are so you'd be making a right because again, you're kind of along this yard, but there's a cross Wall that takes you up to where the second tier is So you basically be walking along this wall to climb up this second level and then come over to where I like I said They're being let up. Okay, and that's where they are while they're being led across the yard right now I mean you'd have to move faster than them because you'd have to make up for time because they're all walking across the yard right now leading up to where your potential ambush point would be and We're good as far as like not being very exposed or visible not at this stage No, if you get any closer than I would say yes, but you're still several hundred you're still like another hundred feet away at this point I'm having trouble visualizing it. So I think we have to try it. Would you like me to drop for you up there? That would be extremely helpful. I think yeah, I'm actually I'm because I'm looking at an actual map here Yeah, okay, you know, and so I'm trying to actually be as accurate to this penitentiary. Yeah, as I possibly can't do not shoot until they do imagine you will this being Large eight story building that I described Then imagine this wall kind of being part of where you're at This is a view from above. This is a three-quarter view if I'm kind of okay looking at the horizon. So this is a yard That you first hopped over this wall All right, and then this decrepit skeleton buildings I talked to you about It's coming across this way you came over here. You climbed to this other wall, which you're sitting on top of right now Okay, so basically you leapfrogged came across and then came up to the next line. This is another wall right up here That again leads to another gate, which will lead to where this kind of again This is assuming this is where the entrance the building is now this is this is a wall on the wall Because if you can imagine This is a second kind of hill all of the people are being led through here Okay, right. So what can was talking about was getting above that entrance that they're leading them to you to walk along this way Go up this other wall Walk along this wall. Yeah, and then come down After they've made their way through. Okay, this wall that we're on is this still 20 to 30 feet above them Like if we get to the gate we're 20 to 30 feet up. Yeah, so in theory what I was talking about earlier about you coming around this way Hmm, you could come around this way, but this you're gonna have a pretty strong profile along this wall So really we need to get over to the gate and off the gate before they arrive more less if we intend to take them close If you intend to take them close and if you want to take them from as they come through the gate and not Also highest priority make sure none of the four leave this yard and go get reinforcements Absolutely Well, let's try and get in position and then we'll know what our options are because if we get spotted This is all I can do. I need to need one more climb Five successes masterfully master. I'm I'm impassioned by viewing freeing my people Are we gonna go bonus from the climbing gear at all? Well, you all just rolled it at one time So no one told me there's a point in any depletion or gear was gonna be used. So I thought some of that was just natural Like a side. Okay, point taking point on a mission is that someone has to take point. So you're all climbing at this stage. Okay Chattoff scramble's like a madman and you all may choose to use. I got I got four successes I actually have some failures. I rolled a hundred Um, my climbs normally 64 if I'm not getting the benefit of gear Uh, then that is three three six. Yeah, three failures three degrees of failure Is it possible for each of us to give up one to help him or does one person have to do it all? I just want to hear how it's narrated if that's okay. Yeah, I just make it cool Let's make it cool and then right all of us give up one to where all just like I only have one. Oh well I've got four so I can use two that's great. I'll give up two also and still have three All right, I would love to hear how this happens Uh-huh. I realize I'm I'm this close and I begin Essentially vertically sprinting up the hill until I hear him slip and I realize Yeah, remember the mission and kind of like scramble backwards to like try and grab one of his hands Can we do like a monkey thing where like yes like like I I'm in between and it's just like And I start skitting down and then they both have their arms out and she slows me down But then he finally catches me right excellent. Yeah, so you start to slide down Jenny slows you down Chateau grabs you will kind of lifts you back up into a position where you can get a footing again And you can see because time is against you as you're watching these Line of slaves being led by these four guards just continuing to walk across the yard and but you make it over it's You're a hundred feet down From uh splatting down on top of the main yard, but you make it over and repel down To the other side for the other side. Is there anything I can do with my three remaining successes? Like can we go quickly? Yeah, I got two as well that have a result with that Yeah, let's get you all in position with those and right again It's either actions information or stuff So if you want to get moving and make that double time and come across And sure if by all means no one's got a critical failure ideal position for an ambush With as many guards as possible being part of that ambush. Yeah. Oh, well before basically. All right uh both Chateau then and Jenny can be on the other side of the gate right the one where they had to cross basically around Before everyone starts coming up before we get across. I say I say to you all I will take the man on the back right All right, all right, so Will you take it back left see like a piece of shit beard Got him okay, and it's a piece of shit All right, you've got two on one side of the gate the other Two on the other side, but we're not gonna shoot unless they shoot right right right so the first Sign you see is actually as you're sitting and you are waiting and ducking and cover The first person you actually see is a slave As they slowly start to kind of walk through and Look at them now go hey And they kind of Second goes by and they just keep walking but there is kind of a clear She like looks back and see it's a blonde woman with hair down there her Wazed and she's just as amazing in her eyes or through white as they possibly And wide as it does and she looks back several times She kind of like nervously starts to pick up pace a little bit move a little bit and you see one of the guards go You Get back here as you watch him start to run along and grab her by the shoulder and slam her down He starts taking out like a small um leather baton that has a a large ball like it in it and he just jams in into her chest And it doesn't spark it doesn't do anything like that And he just kind of like starts and you can hear this lead in like punch as jams in into her chest and start pulling her back up So he's the first one across the gate is is anyone going for him. He is He's literally the first one across stick with the plan So yeah take Sam I come out and take the one I said I would so all right, so Let's do so you have to drop on them. So all of you are I'm going to count as a speed of one you can all just roll your check checks So how are you looking to grease this grease of fairways two Two degrees of success all right, I'm assuming everyone's spending the degree of success. Did everybody get their did we get their speed? There's no speed because you're all count as one for this ambush. Oh Because you're ambushing that's very cool. Right. All right. Uh, yes. So I will hit and add damage for mine. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Great So one and then all roll your damage and let's just hear total damage on everybody's mind do this I'm the all-rolled damage after we roll after it's any good Eleven don't have enough damage dice for everyone. Here you go. It's like in world problems. Yeah Okay, I got four successes and I use them for a headshot Right, so that is let's see two seven 11 15 point of damage 15 15 Okay, I got 11 with my machete 11 with your machete A pitiful six six I'm gonna use the baseball got one damage I just want one one actually add since it's a slash you would have it's more lethal So get the base of one okay. Yeah Hi, I'm Whitney and I'm Katie and we're the hosts of true crime campfire We set out to make a true crime podcast we'd want to listen to we get right to the story We don't do a lot of extra talk in and when we do it's usually to roast the short hairs off of some loser murderer or scammer You'll laugh, but only at the people who deserve it like which suits
serial killer would you most like to shove into a locker. BTK and his often poetry, dude got cut because he didn't understand what a floppy disk was. We look for the stranger than fiction stories, like the case of Patty James, a killer catfish before the internet was even a thing. Or Howard Wombsley, a sentient wad of Damp Laundry who convinced his town he'd won the lottery, fleeced local businesses out of thousands, and then became a romance scammer. You've covered tons of cases you've never heard of, cults, scammers, killers. So come find your next great binge. Listen to True Crime Campfire on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes every Friday. And then anything else? Are you spending your reason for success? I only had one and I was going to spend that on the stun. Or then use it to stun. Okay. Yeah. So you had two. Okay. All right. You basically come out, you just kind of whack this guy up, right in his chest as the spikes just kind of sink in and do a very small amount of puncture damage. And he just doubles over. I'm going to add speed to him for the next round. You got 15, you see? 11. 11? Okay. So Jenny, you take your machete and just clean down right on top of his shoulder right on the hair and you watch as he just kind of like, as he looks, he kind of puts his hands up to scream as you chop it down onto his arm, basically. And you kind of watch as it sticks in his forearm as he's using the bone to basically hold your blade up as he's doing his best to pull the AK around. But it's long and unwieldy as he's trying to just shove it inside of you. A race. I had 15 points of damage on like a fired arrow, like a headshot just in the chest. Just. Okay. Headshot. Chest shot. You just went him straight through the heart. You dropped it at a scream. Okay. Down. And six. Only six. All right. So you're bolt. You basically take the guy in the leg as it kind of like screams over to the side, but he wasn't exactly in the perfect position. You were going for the mid center, just center mass and you ended up putting a bolt in his knee. So to speak. I used to know an adventure like him. He's proposing. As this bolt kind of goes into knee and you watch is he just bends his knee down and just. And he just starts screaming wildly as the other man who is just grunting and he's going to try to at least take some kind of defensive shot against you. Give me a couple of different. I've got typical. Give me one more as he's attempting to do something. So Jenny, this guy just kind of like is holding again. You're blade at bay as he just attempts to swing the a K round. I've got an 86, by the way, for him, that's 86 plus eight. That's going to make him a 93 94, which is five degrees of failure for him. All right. How do you throw that? He swings the a K round as if he's going to try to shoot you. But with your other hand, you disarm him and drop the a K down to the ground as you hear clatter as it falls across. And he just kind of like puts his other hand in his arm and just is like, ah, as you can start to feel the bone break underneath. All right. Now we can roll speed for everybody for the next round. So intense. Finish him. You want to finish him? Same. Same finish him. So same checks all around. Well, I finished my guy. So I can. You did. I can run in and help another one. Finish my guy. You're the least injured at this point. But he's also. He's prone and stunned. Yeah. He's prone. So he's okay. Not screaming. Go for the sprites. Yeah. Go for the screaming. But two speed dire one. Speed day. Well, I want. So for people who are just doing your same checks, like you're firing two speed dice, please. Yours is one because you got the machete. So yeah, I'm just going to draw an arrow turn and then fire at. I don't want to hit. I don't want to hit people who are engaged. So I'm going to try to help him finish his off. All right. So one speed dice for you. Okay. And then you're finishing your guys in my off with the same baseball. All right. So get that two speed as part of yours. And let's start doing this again and roll. All right, Jenny and Kent, how'd you do degrees of success to use a failure? I had a failure, but I wanted to use my last competence point to zero it out. Zero it out. Okay. So you are just basically putting all of your weight into this at the moment. You haven't tried to clear it out and hit again. You're just, it's a force of will at this stage and he is just, he just, he's got this look in his eye and you can actually see because he's got a hockey mask on. That's been painted with the symbol of, the symbol of came on right on the front of it. But you can kind of see his eyes. They don't look scared. They don't look afraid. They look. Yes. All right. As Kent, how'd you do? I had three degrees of failure. So I would rather spend two confidence points. Did you get to one? Did you get to one? All right. How'd you like to resolve this one? So I go to finish him off as he's down and I just take two big of a swing. Yeah. So I get too excited. I want to like stick the spike in his eye. Yeah. Just whiff. That's right over him. Just right over him. Yeah. And you just watch this kind of nothing. It throws you off balance. You're going to add another speed on to you for next round. OK. And then, Rafe, you're up next with the five. Yeah. I got five degrees of success. OK. So I'm going to-- yeah, I just-- All into damage. I just turn. And then yeah, I'm going to try to shoot this guy in the eye. Roll it. Heed. I want my one damage from him. Yes. Yes. OK. All of the damage. So that's 20 plus 6. 26 damage. Wipe through the eyes. Like through the eye. As you just kind of watch it, it kind of comes down. And he just falls back. So that's two. Got though. So my target is dropped. So in hers is engaged. So hence, target is still on the ground. Yes. Yeah, I will put my one round into him. I have one degree of success. OK, great. Yeah, put it into him. Plus whatever the base is for the weapon as well. Right. Four. Four. I'm going to go in. Because great spirit is more safe. It's a hack. So Chateau, as you pull the bolts back and lean in, you fire another bolt. And as you watch, you can't just kind of like woof. Wifes it down, you watch as another bolt. Just kind of just six into his shoulder. See, you kind of just takes the bolt and just rips it out. This quick as he possibly can. And he actually tries to take it and shove it right into Kent's leg as well, too. Pretty metal. OK. Can I have you make a large checks, sir? Yes. 12. Nice. Great. Which is two degrees of success. OK. I'm only going to get one for you then. So I'm going to be putting four. So I took another four. So I'm right there at the next damage was put in. At damage threshold, if you get one point of damage, it will take you over to an injury. You got to allocate it. So you basically watch as this guy takes this bolt up, and then slams it down on the side of your leg. And you kind of move your knees just in time. But not before you feel the cut of this thing. Just make a sketch down the side of your leg as you can feel small and out of one trickle as your jeans. You're just ripped open from this guy. Come on. Come on. Try. And then Jenny, grapple check. Rapple check? Yes, with so much difficulty dice for him. Yeah. Shetty in his arm. Any of your weapons defensive? Grapaling defensive? You're new shetty. It's in her hand, and it's in the guy. It's OK. He got between these two exploding, which is 10 that's 99. And another exploding. He got over 100. I had four degrees of success. All right. Then that's going to be five degrees of failure on my end. And it's going to be four degrees of success on your end. I will actually allow you to convert my five degrees of failure into damage if you want. Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. Then roll, roll five damage against. OK. Wow. OK. That was probably the one. That's OK. Beautiful. OK. Is that all? Yeah. OK. Well, I mean-- Yeah, 10 plus 7 plus 3, 20. Nerry, to me, is grizzly demise. I pull the machete out. It's still in his arm, by the way. As he's doing this, this is just looking at you. It's just sitting there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do it. Just do it. I start to see you do it. Wip it out. Wip this hand up and tries to grab the machete and-- And spin it around and just right into his heart. Yeah. That's the gun drops for the second time. As he gurgles blood out of his mouth, you pull it out. Just plops down onto the ground, dead. So one's still alive. Yes. It's the one that's got a bolt from you and-- Yes, and stabbing him. Yes, right. With the-- what he's stabbing him with a bolt from me. Yes. Particularly ungentlemanly, my friend. No, yeah, yeah, that's right. Well, this is it. This is the last round.
They're terrified, cowering and scared, every slave at this point has just started running. Just everywhere they possibly can, like scattered like roaches across this rail yard. >> Yeah, as long as they're in the rail yard. >> Press the prison yard. >> Right, that's fine. >> Yeah. >> We can't get them in the crossfire right now, so that's good. >> Okay. >> Go ahead. Finishing, are we all just piling on this guy? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> All right, so who's shooting and who's stabbing? >> I'm still going to shoot him. >> Yeah, I think I'm still going to shoot too. >> Shoot, shoot. >> All right, and Jenny and Kent, garbage speed, but many success. >> I guess I don't want to get in the way of this, but I mean, yeah, I guess I'll rush in with my machete. >> All right, rush in, steady. >> Oh, I agree. >> I'm going to have to say I shoot slowly but accurately. >> I'm going to hold the bat and back up a little bit, just taking the wound and do a hold, and wait and watch the doorway. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Okay, why don't you make a quick composer check just for me as a reaction just so I can still tell you if anyone else can tell you they are hitting or not. >> One guy is. >> The seven, it's one degree of success. >> One degree? >> Yes. >> Okay, so you or like these guys have this, as you kind of turn around and start looking at the door, making sure that nobody else is going to come out of this as well too. Tell me what's up. >> All right, so I had one degree of failure and I went to rush in, but then I see Wraith loading up and I just step back. >> Step back, wise. And when you five, I can tell you this man has not much left inside of him. So if I see four degrees of success there, how many of you go? >> I actually have some failures which are worth the near eight. >> All right. >> So yeah, I see you going in for him and I hesitate. >> Yeah. >> And I pull too hard on the bow string. >> Yeah. >> And it snaps the bow string. >> Yeah, the compound bow and it just, you know, rolls basically. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And the arrow goes like how many degrees of failure did you have? >> I have three. That's worth it. >> Yeah. >> Break your bow. >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. >> And I have the bow card, please. >> Yeah. >> Perhaps we can restring it. >> Well, sweet bow. >> That's fine. I have a fucking MP5 now, so. >> May I? >> Which I'm not as good. >> Well, but it's fine. >> I'm not that stupid. >> That's right. >> Oh, yeah. >> I was out of arrows almost anyway, so he wanted you to see it. >> Yeah. >> It's still hurt. It's still hurt. And I've had a lot of fun with that, though. >> Great. Well, then Chateau. >> My eyes filled with horror at the snapping of his bow. >> Yeah. >> She's this man in the face. >> [LAUGH] >> When you put your card on. >> Oh, yes. >> Absolutely, yeah. >> You're close up. >> I don't think we need to say anything more. You have narrated his grizzly eyes perfectly. >> As this last man, you pin him to the floor as he just kind of like grabs the bolt for a second. And then just goes lifeless and he falls down to the ground. So he was already on the ground. >> And I turn to the people in the yard and I just say brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters. >> You watch us, you're very low tone kind of catches the eyes of a couple of them, but they look around and they start a few recognize you. But a few others look like they're just kind of huddling together or just flat out bold things, right? >> For the front door. >> So, which is closed, right? >> No, it's open. Yeah, they let the people, they let the people into the yard. >> Okay. >> You know. >> But a few have your attention for sure. >> Right, you start taking some of the weapons out and like gently putting them on the ground. And say your freedom is at hand if you would fight for it. >> They look at you, they look at the weapons, they look at you. >> We don't want to die today. No, we're free, if we're free. Fine, you watch as they actually took over and grabbed the weapons and they started heading for the gate as well themselves. They look completely unconvinced. >> I step forward, you're being led here to be slaughtered. Your food. >> What, you start to see that out of the attention of some other people who are behind you as well. >> You're like, no. >> I've seen it. I've seen the bodies of humans laid along with children. You are here for food. So you can either fight or you can, you're going to, you can either. >> We're going to flee to the countryside if that's what that is. >> Oh, oh, is that what you're going to do out there with the infected? >> How will you survive? That a man will find you if the infected do not. We came here together for a reason to survive. >> It helps us help you. >> Have you seen the skin tint? >> As we have kind of see as this weird juxtaposition nature. There's, there's men, women here and you can see some of them have cobbled together into apparently couples or groups and you can understand that they're trying to come to a decision. This ultimatum is a lot for them to swallow. Flee into the woods and potentially die or arm up and guaranteed get shot. The one man comes forward because long ragged hair, beard that's grown out a bit from weeks and weeks of being unkempt. He seems to have a little more muscle mass than the rest of them. He comes when he goes, "Thank you for killing the guards, but we are weak. We have no weapons minus the few items you have. Why should we rush headlong straight into death?" >> Do I recognize this man? >> You can see this man is his visage and his accent is a little familiar. You might be an old citizen of posage that no more than anything he doesn't look like one of the any of the other ones who are either just in fact it's hard to tell exactly who these people are. They're so covered in dirt and mock. Roughly held, is he? >> He's about 25, 26. >> Yeah, I walk up to him and I say, "I know your face. Do you know mine?" >> He takes a second to look at you. >> Chateau? >> No. >> I lean forward very slowly and I just touch my forehead to his. >> He receives it, but his eyes just grow wide as he kind of, he watches this like almost this goose bump feeling kind of. >> No. No, you are exiled. You should have never come back. >> I came back for you. I came back for you. Many of us fought, came on after you left and every single one of us who disavowed his name was shoved into these pits. >> My friend, look at me. Look at me. There's no glory in revenge. But I pull forward the car door and the axe and I push them both towards him and I say, "But there is always glory and standing as a warrior. I have fought for you. I am fighting for you. But you must fight for you." >> Drabbs the door. >> He's even pulls the axe and his hand and he looks at you. >> I am hollow. >> And I will fight for you. >> As he lifts his hand up, holds the axe up. >> Chateau? Chateau? >> For Jefferson City. >> As he lifts his hand up, you see as other people who turn around and look at it, just kind of watches this man just sweeps the car door, making this just just flip off to the side. As he starts walking out from the front door and goes, "Chateau, for Jefferson City!" As he leads out through the front door and what are you going to do? >> I say, for others and sisters, you are slaves no more. If you wish to flee, flee. If you wish to hide, hide. But if you wish to do that all this day, then come forth. >> It's the love of the game, the call of glory that drives us to build fantastic worlds. Summary:
FAQs
The Channou are described as the Earth Mother's immune system, designed to wipe out mankind. They were once human beings, now transformed into beasts, and are seen as a natural response to human destruction.

The group plans to infiltrate the state penitentiary, free the enslaved, and eliminate Malsumus, believing that doing so will restore balance and bring about a new era of peace.
They climb over a broken wall using ropes and climbing gear, navigating through box cars and tree cover to reach the outer grounds, where they find a path to the inner yard and the main building.
The group ambushes guards and slaves as they are led into the building. One guard is killed with a headshot, and another is disarmed and subdued, leading to a successful disruption of the slave procession.
They use climbing, stealth, and combat skills—such as crossbow use, machetes, and improvised weapons—to navigate the environment and overcome obstacles safely and effectively.
