Episode 100 with Andy Buchanan

The Good Good Running Podcast marks its 100th episode with hosts and guest Andy Buchanan, the Australian marathon record holder. The conversation opens with celebratory remarks before shifting to Andy's recent challenges with a serious injury—a stress reaction that led him to miss key competitions like the World Championships and the Valencia Marathon. He details his meticulous, multi-week recovery process, emphasizing the mental and physical difficulties of being unable to run, especially after taking leave from teaching to focus on athletics. Andy also explores the realities of professional running, noting that income largely comes from sponsorships and personal branding rather than prize money, and discusses managing these commitments authentically. He values transparency with his audience, sharing all training on Strava to inspire others. Looking forward, Andy aims to return to racing step by step, targeting events like the Gold Coast Half Marathon while avoiding public pressure on specific marathon plans. The episode blends personal reflection with insights into the professional running landscape.

(upbeat music) And welcome to the Good Good Running Podcast. 100 episodes today, we've got the crew back. We go back a long, long time, bonded over some common hate for Gold Coast and we are here to talk to you for the next hour or so. Who knows what we will cover off, but we're really proud of the episodes we've done so far. Big thank you to everyone who listens. You guys are the backbone of this podcast and that's what helps us turn the lights on every week and yeah, we really hope that you enjoy this episode. That's how we been. - Hey, that's what we're doing. - Happy 100th Andy Buchanan, the Australian marathon record holder introducing us for episode 100. Thank you Andy and yes, I'm well. How is everyone going? - Very well after that intro. That's got me up in the bow for sure. - I'm about to run the Olympic wall. - Yeah, I'm by. - Well, I'm 100. - I feel like he's done that before many times. - He's done the smooth, clean off the tongue. - Very, very. - I've honestly never done that before. This is the first time for me. - How good. - Save it for the best. - Yeah, we thought what way to celebrate episode 100 then get the Aussie record holder into, yeah, to share it with. And we obviously shared episode 50 with him. So seems fitting, doesn't it boys? - Absolutely. We had Andy on episode 13, 50, a big milestone. We kind of raised the bat. Now we raised the bat again for 100. As you said, Chris, I'm only fitting. But yeah, how is everyone going? Jordan, Chris, Andy, everyone's happy? - Yeah, going good up in the rain trees. Oh, rain forests retreat me. Weak illness here, but God can't be down and dumps with this episode to go. So yeah, I'm up and about now. - Absolutely, absolutely. - Yeah, I'm good as well, mate. I had a lot of dopamine lead, my system last week after my big night. But I've slowly clotted together this week. And I'm feeling a lot better than last week. So, yeah. - Very good. Yeah, I'm very happy to be here. Very happy to tick off 100 episodes. It took us a while. We definitely dabbled around in fortnightly episodes for a while. And we thought, I don't know, we've spoken about it before. It's time to do weekly. So welcome to episode 100. Andy, what's been happening? How are you? How's the body? Tell us everything. Don't leave anything out. Not one, yes. - Let's see how we go. - I'm good. I'm the body's awesome. I, so I got a, I know, quick little, sorry, quick little like recap. Got a stress reaction, pre-world champs. Missed that race. Got a little bit of time off, got back into training too quickly. Did like a month of training, trying to get ready for Valencia. He came back again. So I was pretty much like, imagine you have a hole in the bucket. You start filling the bucket. And you put like a bandaid over it. And it fixes it for a little bit. But then you keep kind of filling the bucket, filling the bucket and eventually that bandaid's going to come off. So that's pretty much what happened with me. I kind of got back into regular training and then the injury just reappeared. So I missed Valencia. I probably had, I can eight weeks off the second time. And yeah, enlisted a made-of-mind patty who's a really good physio. He kind of did my return to run. And it was broken up into like the first six week block which was pretty much progressing from a like a one minute run, three minute walk, doing that a few times all the way to like a 30 minute consistent run. So that was a long fucking time, like really, really long time. And now I'm, this is my second week of doing seven days a week. I haven't had any awareness in my femur since the day I got the second scan. Which is great, but also frustrating. Like when you have an injury and it, and you feel it, it's a constant reminder you can't run. But when you don't have any awareness, you kind of like, oh, I feel like I've been running 20k today. But yeah, I'm good. Like I, it's, yep, 114k last week. Started to do two sessions. Slowly feeling like a runner again. It's been, it's been tricky like this year. I actually took long service leave from teaching. So I'm not teaching. And I'm just kind of like all in on the running. And when you're not running, that's pretty hard. So yeah, it's good now. I'm starting to feel like a runner again. I'm still not in a position. I think in the past, I've like, I've looked ahead and been like, I want to do this race. I want to do this race. And I've just got to carried away. But the moment I'm really not paying attention to any of these races, I'm kind of just like, really working week to week. Like as cliche as that sounds. And just trying to get, get a little bit fitter. So I was, I was entered in Boston. But how these things work is they decide the fields in December. And in December, I didn't really know what my, how long I was going to have off and how long I returned to run. And if I don't put my name in in December, they spend all their allowance that I don't get any appearance fee. And that's kind of how I make my, tell me I can live in these days. So, yeah, I was on that list, but I pretty quickly pulled out of that. 'Cause I was like, I'm so far off it. But yeah, that's my recap. How'd I go? - Good, good. - Very good. - I guess that must be a weird thing to navigate as well. And you took a break from your full-time job to then basically take up a new full-time job. And then you no longer had that full-time job. That must have been a weird thing to navigate. - Yeah, it was and like so many of my social circles are through running, which I love. And then I own a running store here in Bendigo. And then I do a lot of online run coaching. So it's like my life evolves around running and when you can't run yourself like that. I know it's really challenging. And I think it's formed part of my identity these days. Like so many people like they'll be like, "Oh, you're Andy the runner." And it's like, "Oh, like I do some other stuff, but that's just what people know me as now," which is when you're running, that's great. But when you're not running, you can't like, "Oh shit, there's other parts of me." So it's, that's right. You learn something through every injury. So just try, I feel like I've really learned that just the love of running. And yeah, I'm really, really hungry to get back into it. - Mate, I think a lot of people would be able to, would like to hear how you sort of got through that. So the injury period, like you obviously took a break from teaching and how did you sort of keep yourself busy throughout that period to help you running when you were back? I saw you did a bit of bike riding and how else did you fill your time up? - Yeah, so there was a period there where I couldn't like literally couldn't train because with these bone injuries, you don't wanna put all your effort as opposed to your energy, like your body's energy into healing. And if you go and do like a two hour lift or two hour ride, you're kind of taking calories and energy away from that bone healing. So I was like really trying to be like absolutely nothing for three weeks. And I was doing a bit of a lift, a cool bit of bike riding. Got into, I don't know if you guys follow like my Instagram or my YouTube, like I'm really big into my art, no not my art deco, but like my house design. So purchased a heap of lamps. - So all that? Yeah, we're across it, we're across it, don't we? - Yeah, went through a bit of a garnet in era, record collecting. - Record collecting, yep, actually put some new shelves up last night for the new, put some new, finally got to live your deans record, which like I'm a big Olivia fan. - Oh, I'm happy to. - Slaps. - Yeah, so good. And I think I kind of tried to put a bit more energy into my athletes and live through their success and their journey that I coach online. And did a lot more stuff at the shop. So I think I just did a lot of, I kind of, I still did the same thing, just was able to do them better and have a bit more attention and try to get a bit better at like slowing down. 'Cause I think for so long, I've been like pretty busy working and then adding in running and kind of like just enjoying having a slow afternoon and being okay with that. I'd normally feel guilty if I sit on the couch for two or three hours in the afternoon, 'cause I'm like, oh, I should be doing something. But trying to embrace that. And then I was pretty tactical where with a lot of the brands, I work with, I have to do X amount of like photo shoots or like days. And I tried to tick a low M off for the year at the start of the year. So therefore when I get back into full training, I kind of don't have to do that. And I don't think people realize for some athletes out there that can purely just get paid by, let's use a cricketer. Like they'll get paid by cricket Australia. And that's really enough. And they might have one and deal. And they can earn a lot of money from that and they don't have to do much. But with a runner, you really need to like have a lot of different other deals. And they actually, it takes a lot of time. to fear it'll work and there's a lot of work in just setting up that that sponsorship and then working through what the announcement post is going to look like and then working out a dated or photo shoot like it it is quite a lot of work and I think people don't see that so I've kind of done a lot of that for the year so try to keep busy but I still just found myself pretty bored. Yeah yeah it's it's also a weird thing for like a professional runner to do you've never before has you have you had the opportunity to as we said off air focus on your personal brand but now your personal brand is almost everything and that can nearly bring you as much if not more income revenue than you're running itself. Oh yeah like I earn so much more through through those different brand deals than what I do through my running like easily three four times more. Yeah and it's yes just like I don't know Australia is such a small market so it's like that's where it kind of all comes from and there's on other so many runners that are over in America or over in Europe who are a similar standard as me and they're getting paid so much more but that's just kind of Australia and it's not all about money but yeah you need to put a roof over your head but it's um yeah that that personal branding is something I'm still learning and yeah I started a YouTube channel as well which was something I kind of did through that and um somehow still have people watch it even though it's like a running YouTube and I have done very little running on it because I've pretty much been injured the whole time but we we've got some stuff planned so hopefully there's a bit more of that coming soon. It's funny with those kind of things because you find out that people actually like running is obviously why they got drawn to it but people actually take a lot of interest in your personal life and just your journey as is as well like you'll find a lot of people just like want to follow your journey rather than just the pulling running output. Yeah it was it was actually really cool because I put every single walk run or bike ride or whatever on Strava and there's a lot of athletes that don't do that and I can fully understand that they don't want the pressure they just kind of want to switch off put their head down do the work whereas I was like oh like like part of the reason I started that YouTube was to show that there's so much more to running than just like the the 10 or 15 second clip of you crossing the line at a race winning or whatever it is and there's so many ups and downs. So I was always keen to show absolutely everything and that's kind of a bit of a I don't know I don't pick and choose what you put on Strava like everything I do goes on Strava and I think it's just good for people to see that because there's going to be good days there's going to be shit days but it was really cool to see a lot of people when I started doing like consecutive runs continuous runs being like oh like I've had an injury and it's really cool to see you doing this and doing it really like like taking your time and doing it well and like I take a lot of inspiration from that so that's like I know that's one of the cool things that often you can get trapped in your own world and you forget that you have actually having an impact on people yeah become more relatable that side of you rather than the professional runner side of you yeah so true so true when it's like I don't know I watch a favorite of content where it's just that professional runner side and it's like I don't know it's it's so distant from what 90% of runners are and it's just yeah it's it's not that interesting to me but some people find it interesting yeah we spoke I think we spoke last time about you know you're starting to realize the impact you have on other people and I think you know we we always try I'm just always try to copy the elites so it must then be nice and reassuring that yeah you you are still connecting with you know amateur runners alike yeah it was um it was really funny I actually did an event in kujji I always forget how to say that in Sydney and it was with audible and I was with the kujji run club and it's really cool going on these events because you people hang around and they like I had so many people ask me questions about everything and I kind of forget there's these people out there because in bendigo it's like I just still just kind of get around like um just a runner kind of thing but we were waiting for the run to start and I was standing there with the fuel of the like my youtube crew were there and there was a pair of people and this lady come up to me and she was like oh is this where we're meeting and I was like oh I'm not sure like you are local she's like yeah she's like oh where are you from I'm like oh bendigo and she goes oh I don't even know who this Andy guy is and I was like oh that's me we got pretty job it so I think it's gonna feature but it's actually like and I'm showing some people like isn't that awkward and I'm like no I absolutely love that like that is so that is so good like that she's just brutally honest and I'm like I I don't know it is cool to have an impact and it's also cool to know that like I don't know the world's a bloody big big place and I'm just kind of one person so don't get too ahead of yourself very grounding yeah yeah you can go out in kujji it's now confirmed you can go to kujji and get a coffee and no one's gonna bother you that's pretty good yeah love it try to unbendigo unless you're running with Ned Brockman probably yeah true yeah so what you said up like with all of these sort of extras you doing these days you've you've got your YouTube crew that you mentioned you obviously got a manager does he take or he or she take you through sort of like skits or elements of of things that they want you to promote or or or do you have the ideas or yeah so I've got I've kind of got two different managers one of them deals with races and shoe contracts and that's it then I've got another manager who I calls a bit more of a brand manager he helps me with any negotiations anything like that he's kind of I work with him and then he works with the brands so therefore there's always a little bit of like disconnect we're not disconnect I mean that in a good way like I I don't feel comfortable telling them how much I want a contractor be or something like that so but a lot of the brands I work with they actually develop the content for me which is great because they they have people that that's their job and then they will like a really good example AG one I've got a shoot organized with them I've done heaps of shoots with them they've got a guy in bendigo who I know that's a photographer this is happening next Monday and they will get probably two or three months worth of content from that shoot they organize it they know exactly what they want a post but then they want what they want me to post and they'll make all the stuff and then I put it out which is like it's so good because then like I'm an athlete I'm not a content creator and if I'm trying it if I do it it's not going to look good it's probably not going to have the message that they want it to be and it's not going to like I don't know there's some brands that really help me and I think it's important to make things look good and I kind of always say that when I'm signing with a with a brand like I look like I'm not an influencer I'm not a content creator like I don't make reels I don't know how to I don't want to I want to run fast like I want to use your products to help me run fast and that's the extent so I kind of set the expectation pretty early. Yeah which is which is always going to be important as well to yeah obviously navigate how you're going to work with them but then it's also important you know we want to see content in your tone of voice you know the local guy and that's where it's good like AG1 again they're a good example they want it this like kind of raw footage of me walking along and holding my phone up and kind of like I don't know how I'm the best way to describe it but pretty much different on a straight arm and like talking to the camera and I'm like that's not me like I don't do that so they're like oh well let's just set it up like this and you can talk like this so it's like that's where it's really good where if I'm not comfortable doing something with any brand because I don't think it's authentic I just won't do it yeah yeah which which then it makes you know for the regular punter coming back to you know personal brand makes sense for the regular punter then we believe you then we buy AG1 that's it it's a great product adb check out I assume it's it's not so off you're supposed to have a discount no it's adb cannon is the fastest marathoner at checkout all in caps yeah you spoke about wanting to run fast you spoke about you know being the best athlete that you want to be what's what's the go for the year now that you kind of back jogging is it too early to look towards the future are you not making future plans just yet I'm making plans like I'm always even when I was that so super super injured I was making plans I know there's some marathons I want to do I'm just not publicly saying I'm because I don't I don't want that like perceived pressure or the I don't know what it is but yeah I think as an athlete like I'm always going to be driven and I think that's good and it's like there's there's two marathons I want to do this year I don't know if I'm going to be able to do both of them I don't know if they're going to be too close and I just like at the moment I'm running 100k weeks so I need to do a lot more training but I know there's two marathons I want to do but you won't get them out of me because like I can join in the dots mate I can join in the dots we can we can assure and that's all that yeah yeah exactly we can just assume that's fine Um, and yeah, so that that's kind of on the cards. Um, I really want to do Gold Coast half. Um, I want to come and see us. Yeah, that's really the only good thing about the Gold Coast. Hey, I'll take it. I'll take it. Even though it's facetious, I'll take it. Let's go. Yeah. Yeah. Um, now we've had good times there. So yeah, of course. Gold Coast. And I think I'm just going to start by getting back into like the AVXCR stuff. Um, a bit of bread and butter and just kind of do some racing to get to get back into the swing of things where I'm not really like tapering for it, not doing much. Um, but yeah, who knows who knows where this year will lead me, but hopefully, um, yeah, hopefully there's some marathons waiting to see. Nice. I don't know. We passed guests to the show Jack Rainey on drop that he was going to be running Gold Coast full. I know that you said the half, but you know if he's running the full, that could be a nice little battle if everyone wants to see. I actually heard this rumor on Sunday. Um, which, yeah, which originally, which originally came from us, but that's fine. Yeah, we'll play on. You can probably guess who I heard the rumor. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We know. Yeah. Yeah. He loves, he loves a rumor. Um, I have absolutely no interest in doing the full marathon on Gold Coast. The kid, the kid, the camp is amazing. Oh, come on. That's the thinnest line like, oh, no, that's fair. So fair. I think, I think I'd actually, I'd do Valorat before I do Gold Coast. So fair. Yeah. I'll find out at the road fair. Yeah. It doesn't have media passes for the Sunday. See you escape him. Yeah. Yeah. That's good. That's a pass. That's good. I still can't believe how you got him last year. Yeah. Yeah. Look, to be honest, I still don't know. I had Brad B. his name on my tag, which should not have, I should not have had that on my tag. Yeah. But no, that'd be good. I don't know. I, I mean, I would love to see, an on-part problem, but I would love to see more Aussies doing Aussie marathons. Um, and it's awesome to hear Jack doing that. Um, hearing some whispers that like Africans are doing Melbourne. I don't know if that's just one African being kept joking. Yeah. Um, but Jack said he got back to Melbourne as well. He pretty much announced he's playing. That's the easiest payday. He just feels as, feels as boot, doesn't he? Every year. Yeah. But, but that's the thing. What do you want from you? Like, I fully, I'm fully agreeing that you need to obviously get that paycheck, see yourself up, but like you only have a limited time. There's a pretty fast marathon in December. If you do Melbourne, you can't really do like, yeah, I don't know. That's what you can't need to decide what, what do you want him to get from your career? Um, but now, Kudos to Jack, I think it's great he's doing, potentially doing goal coast. Um, it'd be really cool to have like two or three Aussies going kind of head to head. Um, like you look at what some Queenslanders are doing at the moment, like Tim and Liam. Yeah. Liam, you're a good at Vincent. Great. Like that. Imagine them, like they're doing London. Imagine it'd be like them come back and do goal coast at Jack in. Like that's stacked. Um, stacked. Yeah. That's a super exciting field. Yeah. Uh, great. We should be cool to see. Yeah. And less people, less competition for me on the, on the Saturdays, everyone wins. No, you and Rob, you and Robbo can go head to head on the Saturday. Yeah, if you finish us. It doesn't matter about you, you being fourth place in the final five and a minute is anyway in wind. Some of our really matters. Yeah, exactly. I'm just trying to create some beef here. Yeah, call someone else out. You got, you got the floor, mate. Call anyone. Um, Isaac, Isaac needs to have a look at the course and figure out where the direction is and and pick the shortest way. So hopefully it's a broadsmaid. Yeah. Like once it's okay, but twice, like come on, mate. What are you? What are you doing? Oh, this is the beef that we've been waiting for. Let's go and a fellow Asick's guy to he'll go, he'll go internal this guy Andy. He goes internal. So he's happy to call out Asick. He's happy to call anyone out. Um, so yeah, obviously you were injured as well and you were looking, uh, you know, for world champs and then possibly, you know, for the rest of this, like rest of the year, Valencia. What would you say that? You can say it. No, no, sorry. I'm talking about last year. What were your thoughts like watching Valencia this year? Yeah. I absolutely hated it. Um, I actually had the YouTube guys here and they were filming and obviously like, you know what it's like, they want good content. So it's like, oh, they'll be great to get live reactions of Andy watching Valencia. And I probably didn't realize it. Oh, yeah, that's fine. Yeah. All for it. I probably didn't realize how, um, uh, difficult that would be for me. Especially knowing that there was two guys actively there trying to break my record. And then the fact that like, I was planning on going there and I think I can run faster and I was having a sit at home on the couch, watch it. So I was just completely helpless. Um, and they were asking me a few questions before it started and I was in a pretty average mood. And then I think they were like, oh, yeah, let's put the cameras away. Um, and then once we started to see them pop, um, they started to get the cameras out and film a bit because I was a little bit more chirpy. But yeah, it was, it was really challenging. Like I, I had, I had so much anxiety during the week because I've become attached to this record and like, I never, I don't know, you guys have known me for a little bit. So hopefully you can kind of understand these like, I never in any world thought that I'd ever hold an Australian record, little own the marathon record. Um, and I've kind of become quite attached to it because it's a pretty cool record to have. And yeah, I think it's like, that was a nice little reminder, like, hey, you're not going to have this forever. You've got to, you've got to make the most of it. And people will always try and come and beat it. And that's okay. Um, but to have it during a race where I missed my last two marathons was just like, yeah, there's a bit of a, yeah, kicking the guards, but that's right. We move on. Yeah, yeah, I can understand that. And I guess, you know, leading up to you had, you had both of these runners as well saying that record's going down. I'm going to break it. Like no sweat almost. That was the way that I perceived it. Both runners were saying, this record's gone in Valencia, not a chance that one of us doesn't break it. So I can understand like, yeah, how did that make you feel? Yeah, I don't know. It's, um, it's, it's easy to say that. It's pretty hard to actually do it on the road. Yeah. And I know that, but like, um, I don't know. I don't, I don't think I'm super talented. So I think some of these runners are more talented, but I know that I've done the work. And I think that's what leads me to good results. Um, but you just never know. And every year we're seeing more and more advancements, we choose, they're getting faster. And, um, yeah, it, I don't know. If I was racing, I actually would have loved that. Like, I would have absolutely loved that. Like that would have, that would have got me up and about. And that would have got me like, yeah, shit, yeah, let's go. Um, but when you're not racing, it's, it's pretty hard to, yeah, try and not to, not to like, feed into that. And then, yeah, it was kind of like, oh, shit, there's still three days to go to one. See, I'm like, oh, there's two days. Oh, there's one day. And then like, oh, today's the day. Fuck, I'm going to wake up tomorrow, not the Australian record holder. I like it. I know, no, no, no one tells you what this is going to feel like. Um, and then like, I kind of, I spoke to Shanae shortly after Valencia, because she obviously lost her Australian record. And I was like, fuck, I kind of had you want to feel like. Um, so it's, it's tough, but, um, I don't know, I'm, people are going to keep trying to have a crack at it. So I'm, I'm fine with that. It's a very interesting mindset having, um, those thoughts, yeah, and think, just thoughts are heightened more because you're not, um, and now that you're running, you'd probably like, you're feeling in a better headspace towards these records. Now that you're sort of building back into that, that fitness, I suppose. Yeah. Like, as I said, like, the hardest part was I was kind of hoping to do that race. And I couldn't do it. So that was the hardest. And I, I don't know, I don't, I've been thought about the record today until we kind of started talking about. So it's not something that like is the front of my mind all day every day. And I know someone's going to beat it. And I don't know, I just feel like I've got more potential there. So I'm kind of, I'm keen to have an opportunity to show that before someone else does. Yeah. And when you think about that as well, I know you say, you know, you don't really think about the marathon and you also want more Shane runners to run a Shane marathon. So I I can make so much sense. But if you then think, okay, the marathon, my marathon record isn't gonna stand forever. I've got to lower that time. Do you automatically think overseas marathon? - 100%. - Yeah. - Yeah. Like no, no doubt in my mind, like I, I don't know what fastest course, probably Melbourne. I think you find to choose a fast course in Australia. I think I'd probably do Melbourne, especially with the changes. - Yeah, I'll change to you. - Yeah, like, but I don't know. I don't know what I could run there. I'd maybe, maybe 2009, but like I can't imagine running much faster 'cause like go back to Valencia. I don't know where I've finished, like 15th or 20th or something like that. And half the people in front of you drop out. So like, you don't realize how big this pack is at 30k. Like it's just crazy, whereas you're not getting that in Melbourne. So I could never imagine running that fast here in Australia. Unfortunately. - Yeah, shit. That's a, that's, yeah, even with the changes at Melbourne, you still think, well, shit, I'm not doing it on the Gold Coast, even though it's flat and friendly and beach side. It's too hot. - Yeah, and that canva. - It's actually like that. The canva lives rent-free in my head from the year that I paced. And that year Liam Adams ran 20840. And I think that's one of the most impressive marathon runs I've ever seen. Like that is so impressive. - Lots of grit. - Lots of grit. - It takes a real dog to the heart. - Oh man, he's a dog. - He's a dog. - I love to see you up to two. - I don't know, I was gonna ask you that. - I had a little birdie tell me that that Sunshine Coast race was the last year. Was that when he first year? - Yeah. - Yeah, he had a shattered kneecap. Or his kneecap was shattered or something. - Yeah, I've heard. - And he did it anyway. And basically just dosed himself up on painkillers and just went out and did it. - Yeah, I've heard similar stories. I know his knee has been given him issues for a while, but yeah, I don't know. You see him running around every now and then, but haven't heard or seen anything. He was up at Falls Creek over like January. So he's doing a little bit of running, but not sure. - Yeah, you have to think that these newer crop marathon runners year, your Queenslanders and those sort of guys coming through would probably have gone past him now, but you never know with Lambie, she's just such a dog, you know? - He's someone who I will not want on my shoulder with 200 to go. Like, 'cause he will make you fucking earn it. - Yeah. - He's got that electrician, he's got that electrician yapping him in. - We don't go down with that a font mate, the dogs. - You got 240 volt in your pocket brother, that's why. - And he's a soul, the spark is well. So he knows hard work. He knows genuinely disgustingly hard work. I don't envy that at all. You spoke about fast shoes, shoe technology, Asics Athlete, probably the most exciting release of the last, I guess, three years or every year we look forward to it. The Superbastry, initial thoughts. What do you like about it that have gone super soft? - Yeah, they've changed it up a lot. And I was a bit confused by that, but we had a wear test last week and Nate's Pope works for Asics, really good guy, knows his shoes. He kind of spoke about how originally the Superbastry and the Mega Blast were a very similar shoe, whereas now there's a pretty clear difference between the Superblast and the Mega Blast. And I think that the Superblast will, the Superblastry will be using a very different way to what I used it and sorry to use the Superbastry. And it's like, I kind of see it as like a really good, easy double shoe. I don't think it's gonna feel as good when you're running as fast. I don't think it's that long run shoe that it was, but I think if you haven't tried a Mega Blast, try that 'cause it is like, I think it's actually more versatile than a Superblast. So yeah, I think it's just, they've really changed it up. And now I see a Superblastry and Mega Blast fitting in every person's shoe rotation. - Yeah, agree. Yeah, they definitely complement each other rather than one or the other. - Yeah, definitely. So it's, yeah, it's exciting. And I don't know, I just feel so lucky to be with Asics 'cause it's like, they have such good shoes and shoes that are love and like my weekly rotation is crazy 'cause it's so huge. - You got the best for me. - Yeah. - Talk about your rotation Andy. - Oh, so I wear, probably my most common shoes the Nimbus, so I'm gonna say the Nimbus 27, 28, just coming out, 28. I really liked that. The 27 was a bit too much shoe and there was like a really big footprint, whereas they've made a bit lighter, got rid of some foam. So I wear that a lot. I also wear the Nova Blast on Easy Drums. Glideride Max 2, absolutely loves that shoe. - Almost underrated shoe in the Asics rotation by a Country Mile. I always recommend that shoe. - Yeah, couldn't agree more. So we're that, obviously we're the Super Blast a lot. And then we're the edge pretty much every kind of training session. I don't wear the RAID at all. I save that for races. Still just using that for like 10K half marathon. Being wearing the Trubucco Max, a fair bit out in the bush, just when there's a few trails, Fuji light, and the Metafuji as well, for some different trail options. - I smell so anywhere. - On your YouTube, you were wearing the 2000s for a couple of grasslabs. Have they been putting the, deep in the cupboard now? - Yeah, let's just say I don't know where those GT 2000s are anymore. I had to wear them just 'cause there was something about the loading of the femur. I don't know, physio chat there, but yeah, I just love a soft cushion shoe and the GT is not that reverse that, yeah. - And then casually you go on the Kano 12.1, the Annie Sports Style As you can get, big Asick Skye over here, casually and sporty. - Yeah, well those, I love those sport style shoes. I think they're like, I got some last week, and they are hot. Yeah, they're so sexy. So I don't know, I think I actually have more sport style shoes than running shoes, but yeah, no, they look after me over at Asick, which is good. I think it's great to see them supporting so many Australian athletes, which is great. - Happy 100th guys. It's a massive effort. People don't realize the work that goes into these. So, kudos to you, well done. - For sure. - Thank you very much, Andy. Thank you very much for being a part of the journey. Thank you for coming along for, number 100 and the intro and yeah, I can't wait to, yeah, obviously get on top of Andy Buchanan's running in 2026. - Yeah, yeah, no, I'll pencil in 150 and 200 and we'll go from there. - Yeah, that's good luck, mate. We can't wait to see you back out there doing what you do best, mate. - Thank you, means a lot. - Thank you very much, Matt. - Thanks, too, mate. See you, mate. - Jay, Wiz Fellas, you can't look. You talk about how many people you love in the running industry and you talk about athletes you get along with, maybe someone you share in DM with or, you know, but chatting with Andy should got me a little bit up in the back. - Oh, fuck, I'm horny as now. - But, how good is he? (laughing) What the hell, John? - Oh, that's disgusting. That is absolutely disgusting. - John's just not rocking it everywhere. No, but how good is that? - Yeah, you talk about heroes you have in the game and people would skin in the game, professional runners, and we talk about it all the time that runners are the only professional sports star where you actually can be in reaching distance. Like, you know, we could go to Bendigo and go for a run with Andy, hopefully. - Yeah. - You know, he can't, so the goal goes. - He's unreal. He's unreal. He's just a legend. And, mate, he just feels a part of the good, good family in fabric now. You know, when he comes on, it's, you can literally chuck him a mic and get him on every couple of weeks. That's how it feels. So, - You've never known that. - Maybe we can sign in for something, Makka. - You reckon we can sign in? - Yeah, okay, well, look, let me have my - I just bought a hat. - So, I might have to sell a few things off. I've got some things we could sell to maybe get him across the line. And then you could obviously, you know, take a big handful of your deep pockets and, - Sure, don't worry, mate, you'll have 100 grand equity in that thing by Galko's mouth on. - Hell yeah. - Oh, take it out. - Take it out and give it straight to Andy B. Cannon. Put it, take every rent for the year. - That's a, - You have to add some zeros the way he's talking. - Yeah, so I think stuff. He's got a lot of things in the pipeline. A lot of balls in the air, a lot of brands knocking in his door. - Lots of brands. Lots of, - I love it. - Lots of balls in the air. - Yeah, yeah. - It was great to catch up with him. And I just can't wait to see him back out there. He's building nicely. And I think he'd be a bit of fire in the belly saying, you know, you're Jack Raider. as you Jimmy Wheelans, you Liam Budens, Tim Vincent's doing their things. He's common boys. - 205 guy, if he gets fit. - Yeah, and Brett's obviously hitting some form now as well. So like this, oh, Jesus Australian marathon running exciting at the moment in men and women. - Big time couldn't agree more. So fellas, that was a nice little introduction I reckon we've had for episode 100. What do you reckon you want to jump into some training? - We haven't even probably spoken about that special word that we're going to have where all four of us, that's Jordan, Chris, myself and Andy, and who the first person to message that into the good, good running account will win a free pair of shoes. So yeah, I guess happy listening, it's a word that you should probably, it's definitely a real word. So you just have to keep your ears close to the ground. - Yeah, and it will be throughout different stages of the episode. So it's going to be one that you're going to have to listen the whole way through. - Oh, that's good. All right, should I kick off quick training week then we'll get this done then we'll jump into some memories of our 100 episodes and a couple of races, a couple of races, a lots that happened. Well, actually, did you see the Los Angeles just quickly? Los Angeles marathon. The leaders got let us stray again. - Oh, fuck, this is, this something's got to happen, hey. - Something's got to, something's got to give, something really has to give. Don't understand. - What was it? Excuse this time. - No, this guy just completely followed the bark and they went straight off this random way of the real strange. Anyway. - What the bark didn't know. - Mate, oh, look to be honest, I don't really know. It's so weird to watch. Okay, so I was at the track, luckily enough last week, myself, Josh McKinsey and Honezi went down there. Yes, it was, we had broken case. So we had eight by, like, eight sets of 600 meter rep, 20 seconds rest, then we had a 400 meter rep, then 60 seconds rest. So it was very easy looking on paper and I think we said it every single lap we went, this is easy on paper. But until you get, once you get that 20 seconds rest and you have to go again, you almost feel a little bit lactic and then you have to go for a quick, a quick, a 400 rep. - It's the lack of rhythm that kills you here. It's like, we're in a K-Rap, you can just roll right and you generally pick it up as the K-Rap goes. Whereas this, you finish the rep, then like 20 seconds is nothing. 20 seconds doesn't even really feel like a break and then you've got to hustle a lot. - Yeah, it's hard. It's really hard to stay mentally checked in. It was 30 minutes of work, but we ran eight and a half K for 30 minutes of work. - Probably a good session coming close to a race day to practice being in a pack like surges. Especially if you did that six, you do it many ways, but with a maybe like a 20 second float or something like that and then pick it up again. - Yeah, it was a really, really good bang for buck workout. Between the 600 and the 400s, we went around 318 pace for the 600s and then about 310 pace for the 400s, which this pace is feeling like it's coming a little bit easier for me. So I'm pretty-- - A hundred. You've been doing work. Been track, mate. - Yeah. - No track back, mate. - Yeah, no. - No track's got Mac out, written out all over it. - I actually had a sore back. I just saw lower back today. I don't know if this is the track back catching back up with me or what it is, but um-- - You've seen how you carry those aircon? - Ha, I've a lot of one-handed. Um, but no, so good, good session there and then Thursday, we moved a session from Friday to Thursday and I thank all we did apparently the weather on Friday sucked. We moved the session to Thursday, I joined Josh McKenzie and we went to the Emmy Royale. We had three by 12 minutes, which is good session and I feel like it's about three point-- it's basically three by three K. So three point, three by three point two K, which is a good starting block, you know, for these like longer reps. I've tried to be pretty short in this block before Bannerat, but it's nice now. That I'm going to start adding a little bit more. So the 12 minutes went three, 46, three, 45, three, 39 with a minute jog, minute walk in between. It was done to get pretty hot, so we thought let's walk. No point. Don't want to-- - We have local legends that are soothing. - Yeah, someone keeps taking it off with me, which I'm not really sure what's going on there. - Brood. - Yeah, who the hell else is running an Emmy Royale? - Send me your email. - Oh, I'm about to-- - We're going to have a look at that. - She can tell. - Oh, yeah, someone's one behind you. - Mm, you might have to go there in the morning, dirty dog. And then-- - Doesn't say anything. - Spotting Lincoln Jones, mate. - If he takes any of my local legends, I'm going to visit him in his house. He doesn't hide or-- He doesn't hide, he's start to rent. So I think I can kind of get an idea of where he lives. That's creepy, I don't. And then Saturday morning, I went from my 1,200 meter TT down with Mitch. And yeah, I ran 338 for the 1,200 meter. So 259 K pace, which is pretty nice. I felt nice to move that fast. Probably had a little bit left of the tank, but I was a little bit scared from that 3K R. If I'm being honest. And then-- - It's so hard to do, like, because you just don't know when-- Like once you go too far, there's no coming back. So it's like, how do you push that envelope if you don't do it often? - Couldn't agree, mate. - Have a bit of mail on Griffith University track. Apparently some health and safety officer went out there today and deemed the track is no good. There's barricades on Griffith Uni. You can't use it. - Whoa, what do you mean? What's wrong with that? - Not sure. Apparently it's not up to scratch. I've even got photos here. So these are on the-- - Chris Bar. - These are on the-- I don't know if you can see that, but they've got these big, big boulders on the track there. - Oh, no. - They ain't stopping anyone, mate. You go around that. - Yeah, apparently they're all over like Lane 1 and 2. - Oh, wow. - And that's the curb. So, don't know what's going on there. It's interesting. A bit of a watch this space there at Griffith Uni. I'm there in the morning. - Do you reckon it's the health and safety? Do you reckon it's Griffith's Uni finally cracking down? - I'm not saying no one come on. - Not sure, but you might have to go out wide George, a George, which wouldn't be as fun. - I can't rough it up if I do the 4K tomorrow. (laughing) I haven't done it. - It's 3K, isn't it? - No, I've done that. Mine's 2.4, 1200 and 4. - No, just do it in lane 8 and do less laps. Oh, I'm not like that. And then, yes, oh, and then Sunday I went for a-- I went for a lonely longie. I tried to meet up with Chris, didn't work out in the end so I just went, look, I'm just gonna go from my house. I'll try and get some hills in. So, I wore the super blast three for that as well. I know Andy said he's not, it's not like nodded a long run tree for him, but I don't mind the leap for a long run. Like the leap foam for that longie, but at 5.30am we had 22 degrees, 95% humidity. So, around 34K, 444 average. - Good run. - Yeah, it was a really good run. I think I hit around 400 meters of elevation. Yeah, 405 meters of elevation. So-- - Pretty solid week, mate. Like pretty much three sessions and a solid long run. - Yeah, yeah, so that took me up to 110K for the week. So, yeah, I was really happy with that. I had 205 grams of carbs on that longie. So, I had the new pure 100 grammer, the twist top, and then I was really good. The only problem is when it gets warm, it's hard to put down. - Yeah, it doesn't stay as, could you freeze it? - Yeah. - Oh, maybe, but oh, maybe. And then I had 45 grams of precision with sodium, in a soft last, and then I had a caffeinated gel. So, it was good. I had a lot of carbohydrate on that morning. So, yeah, happy with that. That is 100 and, yeah, 17K for the week, sorry. So, my last three weeks have been over 115K, around that 120K mark. So, I'm pretty happy with that. We're gonna have another couple. I think I've got another big week this week that we have a bit of absorption week with a big marathon session. And then, yeah, ballerat just around the corner. So, good, happy times for me. - There's a bloody meterator at the moment, isn't it, Chris? - Just chew them all up. - Yeah. - He's going well, mate. I ran with him last morning, Jordan. He's definitely found an extra gear of speed. - Oh, man. - You wouldn't have been able to be as comfy at that pace like you were today, previous Hurricane Mackie, you're doing it. Oh, easy now. Yeah, I agree and I think that's that track that's been really helping me to be honest. Yeah, I think that's 10 weeks of track like it doesn't happen overnight It was the biggest key like I think that's the most consistently you've hit faster like above Threshold whatever you call it and a robykish kind of work There's not an aerobic because they're still kind of long longer reps, but Sorry, I've got a wee's That was so loud that wee's was loud You almost sucked me into the computer Apologies, I'm still on struggle straight here Yeah, no, he's really put some consistency together with that track and I think it's time to pay off Yeah, thanks mate. Thank you very much. Hopefully I can absorb the training keep running a little bit further and then Just enjoy my marathon. That's all we really want to the end isn't it Absolutely man. Well, we know you can handle the marathon. So Big marathon guy big marathon guy Yeah, nice is this the first one in a while you've come out of a summer block into winter one two No, I did Boston remember yeah, Boston's difference though like You know, travel and all those can't like this isn't really travel. Oh, I seen like into a winter race Yeah, like is never one. I've never run a cold marathon So I'm excited. Yeah me too. I should be like he wapen win Touch wood touch wood Touch wood We don't want that oven Chris oh Chris oh run a three week. How'd you go? How did it look? Yeah, I didn't have a great week last week. I must say felt pretty off up until sort of Whoa, maybe Thursday morning. Um, so yeah Uh, kind of I did a I think seven K on the Monday 15 K on the Tuesday felt rubbish both days Wednesday ran with honesy um 12 K felt shit um and then and then Thursday started to to feel a little bit better I did some hill strides on the Thursday um and found a little bit of speed through there Which was good probably after the the hill strides. I was like okay. I started turning a bit of a corner here Just the late night boys like can't do it anymore like I used to you know um I know I've carried on a lot but um Don't know I've never felt that flat um for from a for a night out for a long time like almost covered like the way I felt Um, oh, I didn't have it, but I just felt yeah very average, but um yeah Thursday to start a turn of corner Um Friday Was a very very tough day of running. I was meant to do six K at kind of like 320s Um, which yeah just Felt hard from the gun I ran uh with jordo and and honesy again uh jordo Was gonna help me out with the pacing of of the session here. It was like 320s piece of cake um Let's go. So we started off and I think the first two K where it may be three 24s, which was obviously already off the pace and I was thinking I'm just tucking behind jordo here. Oh, you know, let's Hopefully we'll start picking it up here and Yeah, he um we got to 4k and I obviously was trying to look at the watch too much it felt quick, but um it wasn't uh and he sort of uh Pivoted off at 4k and was like christ I'm done Um, so I had to do the last two k solo so yeah six k six k at 330s, which was nowhere near it um and Then I was meant to do five five hundreds after and um After the six k I was just kaput so um I did it I did some strides and and called it called it a morning Uh and look should have chucked that one into media pace and see what it's spade up because it 90% human dear like Six degrees that yeah, well Oh, it disgusting made it was very tough going I don't want to go on about the way the two much but that was probably that the most humid day That I've felt for a long time and I was feeling a little bit down the dumps um warming down back I was like man like even his warm down is a stretch like I'm just I'm just done So we got back we had a uh a maximus uh share that's a maximus fantastic Um and um Yeah, I wanted to obviously have a look on striver and see how everyone else went that morning and It did make me feel a little bit better that virtually everyone else look like they struggled on friday as well Um few few little rival groups and runners around that I wanted to make sure I had a look at what they were doing and and that and you know A few people were struggling as well, so uh it seemed Is that on the be what's the go there rival groups? I don't know if there's too many rival groups happening around the cocos Not rival groups. I like to look at other competitors um around the The the you know Australian uh all the the goal coach running landscape and Brisbane landscape and just go I wonder what they're doing and how they went and um yeah, it looked like there was a few people that struggled that morning um Sorry Chris are either works off this positive or negative feedback Yeah, yeah, and I'll tell you what else is a stitch up he's spending a lot of time on striver checking other people's But it's it's obviously It's obviously not a full-time job for him to give me a bloody kudos because I'm struggling He's got his maca repellent on I'm struggling to get a kudos from his guy He gave the most the time really struggling to get one from this guy and I see him commenting on other people's pose I'm thinking I must have done something wrong because this guy kudos is often You're like a family member mate. So I see yours and I'm like oh yeah, there's you know family maca I'll get I'll get around to yours later on you know. Oh, so he sees him Exactly. So he sees him You know those times where I've written on the chat like oh, I did I didn't really well in that Mona I think I hit like 5.8 and this is five minutes after I finish and he goes nah, I'm out you didn't and I'm like what how have you How have you already worked out my Mona So it's got probably a little app that filters Strava right and he pushes it through he whatever you little app is created Everyone's past the word first. He's made an app for me Whether they're PB's the shoes the technology they're wearing and just like all right And he just goes through the little numbers and so where they sitting out He's a dirty girl. And he picks our can't race here. Can't race here I'm an absolute dog Um, dog But uh, yeah anyway, I yeah finish that session feeling um, yeah pretty uh Pretty average about the 10k that's coming up and pretty average about my running in general But I picked myself up and and jeez whiz the suns gave me wings on on Friday night Patrackas because of those suns. Oh Didn't that just make my whole week feel good. So Yeah, that was awesome seeing seeing them perform what they did and anyway I woke up the next day and I woke up a bit earlier than I was anticipating. I wanted to have a bit of a sleep in Saturday but Work up because it was just so warm um and got myself up and um did a bit of a run and anyway I was running through surface and I was like oh, it's it's 645. I'm not that actually I'm not that far from the the holder park run here So um, I thought oh, I'll jog to the holder park run and on the way there. I was like oh Yeah, I'll just jog it like I'll do the park run at like 415s and um You know just uh, you know run run run my jog a little bit firmer for five or so. Okay, and see how I go and anyway the the convener You know spoke through what was happening and I was like oh, you know what like I wonder what the leader will run here So yeah, basically um started running with the the young young 15 year old kid for a couple of K and you know he dropped off At 2k and I just decided to um yeah keep going at about 350 pace 345 Absolutely drop this little 15 year old. Have you left this out of the long room? No, it was the day before Oh Mr That's how I sat sat sat today so I um I did the the holder park run and kind of ran 350 pace um and um not stuff a little wind took the w Ah, just just a confidence safe positive feedback positive feedback loop it was it was a bit of a mental health run to be honest It was like I needed to feel good about myself I've had a terrible week of running and I need I need this for me So another may you feel better than yourself than pick on someone who has been running half the time you have been Well when when this um, you know little fella dropped out I was like well, let's see where second is and then I got into my head every turn around I didn't want the gap to be any large and then what it was so I just kept kind of the the momentum of where I started flowing So I didn't kind of drop off and I wanted that gap to stay the same So I made it like a tactical sort of decision to to keep the keep the gap that yeah anyway Chris I was picked up Chris I was picked up the tag too and he's just kept running and he's just run home He hasn't even bothered to stop scaling. He's going out waves high fives No, he's going into competitive mindset and he hasn't given anyone anything No, it was always definitely um yet, you know saying a load or a few people, few high fives, few words of encouragement So in a couple of little autographs and got a couple of photos and then just sort of, yeah, made my way back to my place, which is nice. So, um, and then yeah, the next day woke up and did 20k with Jordo through the hills of Ashmore, which was, which was quite good, a bit of a later start, but yeah, I just ticked off 100k for the week and, uh, yeah, kind of wanted to wipe that week a little bit and we move on to this week. So, started a good session this morning, which, um, I was happy with. So that's, that's sort of it for me. But he's a lot of carry on, a lot of carry on for a bad week. Oh, a lot of carry on for one night, I haven't beers. Don't you reckon, Jordan? You can't go out, you can't go out, you can't go out of your beers and then complain about it for a whole week. And he's acting like he'd been off the piss for six months when really he'd just been drinking fellas. He'd just been drinking zero, cow cow alcohol. Oh, wait. Yeah, a lot of carry on from my behalf. I'm sorry about it. Oh, it's easy. I've got to speak my feelings, boys. And this is how I felt. I don't want to not share my feelings. And I'm happy. I'm happy to hear it the first, maybe the second time. Third time is like, you pushed it and then anything after that, like I reckon we lost 50 subscribers. Oh, yeah. Negative feedback loop is going to do you share. You've put him off now. No good week, good week. T100 very soon, my brother. Two weeks off. Yeah. Yeah. So another good week of training this week. Hopefully buddy stars line up in a two. Or aren't they just arising from everywhere? Sounds like every single Australian credited trifleets going to do it. So what's that about? When you got the biggest dog in Triathlete in Australia going, I'm doing the T110K. Everyone else wants to be there, mate. And I've got a gold medalist who's going to pay him. Got the yee man. Matt, reckon the yee man. I'll just be like, no, I'm doing it. Paces are going to finish. Is it your record? Well, I heard a little, a little quick little quiz part of that. I think the main reason the great Britain triathlon team was here was to prep for this big race that is in somewhere in the Arab Emirates somewhere. And that's obviously not going to happen now. So I think they're just here for a bit of a VK training camp sort of thing. And I don't really know whether they've got any sort of races booked in. I think that was the main sort of goal. So hey, maybe a market, a few of them doing a bit of a, did a rust buster. They all went to the Wednesday worlds at the Nareng Crit Track last week. I don't know if you saw that. Saw that. Lots of good footage getting about there. Imagine riding your bike. You go down the crit for the first time. You look to your right and it's you just hear someone come around the side and there's go, you're going to take this spot, mate. And you're looking at the bloody Alex yee. Oh, well, so yeah, I don't know if you know how that race works, but apparently at the crit, you ride for an hour. And then as soon as the sun starts to come down, you're basically like one hot lap as fast as you can. And then whoever wins that after an hour is the winner. And for more reports, that last lap happens. They dismounted their bikes and the great Britain triathlon coach said, all right, put your flats on and we've got two K hard. So they around the velodrome there. Around the velodrome. I saw photos. I saw, sorry, I saw a video of Alex yee running around there. And it looked like he had a pair of a different SC elite on his foot. The upper looked a little bit different. I could be wrong because they were all wide and the video is kind of crap. But they looked like a new maybe a different type of different type. Yeah, right. Watch that space. Watch that space. Yeah. All right, Jordan. All right, Jordan Miles, Jordy Mills, runners through that bottle of plonk week you had mate. Plonk. Anything else you guys want to talk about? Skip straight past this. Yeah. Yeah. So I think last week, did I mention, had I got sick? Yeah. You've been sick for the last four episodes mate. So you definitely told us you were sick. Yeah, I was doubt as much carry on with my illness from Chrisso. Spears week. Yeah, I've been sick. I went down hill. I think I got a little bit better. I did a session on the Tuesday thinking I was all right. Oh, that was the night we recorded. Hey, yeah, I did. I was going to do six by K. So I did four by K. I went actually went out pretty, I thought I went all right, to be honest, 2327, 325, 322, 328. The 22 probably hurt me a little bit. I was trying not to look at, I've been really focusing on not looking at the watch. And sometimes it's to your detriment because you naturally subconsciously, you run a pace that is either the same or a little bit quicker than the rep before. I think we all do it right because you want that nice progression. And I think I thought about, because I ran a 325, I think I thought I was there about and I was probably just a little too hot and then I paid for it in the fourth rep. And then probably cook myself a little bit plus getting over a bit of illness. So in the fifth rep, I got halfway through and I was like, no, I was going to make this a 500. And I just did another 500 and finished. So I went 324 for the 500 and 308 for the other one. That's where you know you're you're bossing it hard when you are halfway through the rep and you go, I'm just going to call it here. Yeah, yeah, I just went, oh no, yeah, I was, you know, half claimed it has been smart, half probably when I lose her hard on that third rep. Plus it was like 11, 13 in the morning. So there wasn't a lot of things in my favor that day. And my body decided to bite back. Well, not my body is such, but the yeah, my core temperature probably went through the roof and it was like, well, what are you doing? Mixed the core temperature with a little bit of upper respiratory symptoms and you know, oh so much snort. How much snort is too much? More snotch than nukes so much snotch. Oh, how good is the word snort? No, Chris, Chris, Chris, Chris, that is not a word. You just said it. You just said snotch. It's not a word. It must have just been a little criticism that I've been saying for a year that I've just kind of kept with me. It's, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Kirsty, you can confer this. Kirsty, this is just another weird quirk that you have. Yeah. I love Kirsty. How was she put up with so many little criticisms? No idea. Zero idea. Couldn't tell you how she's married yet. No idea. So anyway, back to me, fellas, all about me this way. Yeah, sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I had a day off, ran 9k and then I didn't run for the rest of the week. So 27k. Yeah, just went downhill, not a lot of sleep, had four shifts in five days and then George got sick again over the weekend, started getting fevers, not sleeping. There's got another ear infection. We're just bloody in the trenches again back here. Sounds like a G's. Yeah. Look, you can't control these things sometimes, the dad mates and I think, you know, as much as it's annoying you that you haven't been able to get momentum the last couple of weeks, you know, it's still there. Like you'll get back, I just keep keeping positive about the running because you're on a good path. You've done well and you just got to ride these bumps for a little while. Right, these bumps start doing six by a K at three minute pace. No, just keep sticking to your process, you know, keep sticking to your process. That's what Christian Petraq did last year. You had a rough year of the days, you just kept working and now look what's happened, mate. So, no, you'll be right. I wouldn't overthink the running, you know, don't know. This T100, it's a free swing for you, mate. Like just whatever happens, oh, mate, it's going to be a bloody tempo run at this rate. But it is what it is. Oh, yeah, I got 15, oh, 15 weeks, still goalcruced. I can get pretty fit in 15 weeks, I reckon. Yeah. But my mind is on the 10k. It's not like I'm trying to get mileage up for a half or a marathon. So, yeah, it's just a bit frustrating. I think the annoying thing was like I just felt had the worst sinus head ache for like a few days. I probably could have gone for a couple of easy runs, but I just, yeah, no sleep and, yeah, it just felt like shit. So, I think the annoying thing is, and we probably all do this as you look back this week and go, oh, I could have got out for a couple of runs. And to be honest, it's not really going to change anything. So, yeah. And also, you're dealing with sickness and stress and stuff like that. Getting out the doors and they're going to prolong your sickness sometimes. Yeah. Sometimes you do yourself more of a favour by just sitting and resting and recuperating. The problem is I couldn't even really rest that much because I had four shifts for like I worked Wednesday at Thursday, Arbow, then Saturday, Sunday, Arbow. So, that was a bit, you know, just got to do it. They were like, you know, like you're not sick enough, you're not going to take the day off work. So, but then it all went so like by the end of the day, like get home and like, 11-ish, 12-ish, you just, you just cooked. - Cooked. - Agreed. - That's, that's life, isn't it? - That's life. That's what you get on the big yachts. - That's what I get up. - Move on, move on, eh? No, well, hey, look, fingers crossed that the rest of the week you feel better and then we move on, we start fresh next week. That's what we're saying. - That's it, yeah, we've got some exciting races ahead, boys. You know, we've got the T100, you're Mac is doing ballerad, it's gonna be a good couple months of running boys. - Oh, Chris, I speak in a ballerad, do you see these little video he had to do? - Do you like that? - Oh, that was not. - That was not it. - It was literally the editing skills, yeah. Hey, the part of the ambassador, I have to show me going into a running warehouse and I already had an idea of what I was gonna buy but then they didn't have the fast art in stocks. So I thought, hey, give me a go of these, the mighty greens and, yeah, I feel great. - I think I did. - Did you think there was a bit of an odd choice 'cause I swear you said a day that you probably wouldn't race in them. - Yeah, well, I'll just have to look and see how I go, right? - Yeah, interesting. - I mean, it was only one shoe that Mac is gonna race in. - No, we never know, this, hey, we've still got six weeks, we've still got a long time for me to decide and maybe I'm thinking, I'm not gonna put too much pressure on it and I'll just not think about it and throw on a pair of shoes and just run my race, you know? - We get that economy testing done before Ballerara. Let's get say that, yeah. - Yeah, we will. - That'll be very interesting to throw some numbers down. A little bit, another special delivery arrived today. Why am I house at here? - Yeah, yeah, but yeah, so it'd be cool to do that. I was just, I've seen a lot of times with the economy testing and stuff like that. You can do it, but it's really easy for the test to get compromised. So if the mouthpiece gets wet, which it's really, it can actually get wet pretty easily, then the test can give you wrong values. So you can go through it all and then it not even measure that you've run any better. Or it actually sometimes make you look and give run worse. So it'd be really interesting. - It's a good thing. - Yeah. But hey, episode 100, Fellas Good Training Weeks all round. We're hopefully moving forward everyone, but I wanted to run you guys through a few memories of our past 100 episodes of taking a couple of little screen recordings of a few of our episodes that I thought, you know, we could listen back to. We probably haven't listened to it for a long time. Maybe a couple of quirks, maybe some fun with some guests, some guests that we've had, that we've actually had on in the past, but I'm trying to just get it up now. This is from our episode of our training series where we had moose on. And I always think it's funny when we have, you know, interactions with other people and we ask some rogue questions that we've had. - Yeah, quite rogue, but look, if you say you're going to Berlin, the next Berlin, you're on target for 220, you're feeling pretty good. You're at 38K and you start to feel, you know, the stomach start and the growl, you know, there's some bodily sort of functions going on. If you thought you could get away with. - I'll shoot myself. - You're shooting stuff. - 100%. I've been copying so much flak for shooting myself. I actually reckon it's such a good story. And I'm actually, I'd be proud of it. - I stand by, boys, I'm shit myself. If it comes to the T100 and I'm seven, and it comes to seven K and there's a turnaround point at SeaWorld and I see the ye man in Houser and I feel one coming on, mate, I'm shit myself in front of, I don't give a shit, I don't care. - You don't, you reckon in front of everyone? - Yeah, if I'm on for a good time and I need to go, straight out. - Okay, all right, okay, I love that moose. Moose was just straight onto it. - I'm sure. - He knew what was coming. - Yeah, he, yeah, okay. All right, well, what a bit. - I'd love to know if people actually, like when it comes to the crunch time, could you actually do it? - I reckon I could, eh. - There's no shit in yourself at halfway, though. Like, I reckon it's gotta be the last few K. I don't want to run behind you. - No. - Because we know if it's Chris, I'm behind him going past him. - Oh, mate. (laughing) You've never run anything in the one 13s, mate. I have, so anyone. - Yeah, big guy. All right, I've got another little memory, down memory lane for you guys. - Yesterday, Kirsty, like I had a bath or organized forming when I got home from work. - Okay. - The candles. - Same as. - Glass of bubbles next to it. - Well, wait. And she's like, all right. Enjoy a bath. - Happy Valentine's Day. Here's some alone time. (laughing) I'm out of here. - No, I just gone from work and she had a bath and then read, yeah, did it for me. - Same water, obviously. - Yeah, same water, mate. - Actually, touching on baths. - Do you shower before you go on the bath? - I shower after the bath. - What the fuck? But then you're sitting in dirty water. You freak. - Well, mate, it's just a bath. - Yeah, you're a bath. And then I have a shower to clean off. And then, yeah, you go. - No, you got a shower, then you sit in the clean water. Now, I think, is that weird? - No, you're weird. - No, you're weird. - But I can't remember last time I had a bath. - So, I do bath. Would you have a shower? - Yeah. - Would you have one before? No. - No. - No, no, no, no. - Don't stick up the back of. - No, I like his thinking, though. - You don't scrub while you're in the bath. I think you see him in dirty water. - You even think so if you water master. - Oh, that was such a good debate. - And I'll still dive, you get clean before you get in the bath. Right? - Yeah, I actually, I don't dislike it. But I feel like that's a fifth. I think the purpose of my whole philosophy with what I want to do is I want to have a bath, if I'm going to have a bath, I'm going to have a bath. That's what I want to do. I don't want to be having a shower and then jumping in. - Because you've got to shower. - I want to soak in the bath for a while. And then I want to clean off just a little bit more, wipe all the, I've put in the salts in there and whatever. And then just wipe it off in the shower. And then towel off and jump in a bed and see what happens. The only thing you wipe and off means. - But what about. - Snorch, right? - But. - Different end that one. - But what about, what, you're going to have a shower? - You're going to have a shower in the same color. - You're going to have a shower anyway after, after you bath anyway. So you regardless, you're having a shower and a bath. - Yeah, yeah. - All right, I've got a couple. I've got a few more. So I'm just going to keep playing these little memories. - Banana, up and go, pole go. - Mixed. Some people love banana, up and goes, which is disgusting. I messaged them directly and said, unfollow me. - Yeah, my dad messaged me and said, no, I go banana, mate. And I said, can you unfother me? - No, so yeah, we'll. - Imagine it was great. Imagine getting a damn from your son saying unfother me because you got to go choice. - I still can't fathom. - I still can't fathom why you would go and get that as your first choice. - Mate, and especially when I was in the Yamba, and that's all they had. That was their first, that was their only flavor that they had. It's like they missed it up. It's like they missed, is it a Nestle delivery for the week? - Yeah. - Yeah. - That's true. - That smoothie would be your first go for a smoothie that I've heard of in a cafe, right? Banana and cinnamon. - Yeah, I reckon. - Yeah, I do like a mango. - Yeah. I think bananas. - I think bananas probably better than you. - Yeah. - Yeah, and okay, I've got another one. I've got another one here from. I think this is back when we were talking about our Strava. This is back in episode one. - Oh my god, this is my favorite episode. - Is it? - Yeah, I just thought it was so off the cuff. - Michael Shelley ran past me in a couple of other people ran past me and honestly the feedback coming from everyone that ran past me was I was literally running backwards. We've been a part way. So no one needed to see that. - All right, okay, look. - So I had caught that. - I just thought, look, do you know the funniest thing is to be any more dinted than what it was when I was running back up that hill. - That is too funny, I love that. - I thought I'd tell you what I did. I didn't upload it. I thought about uploading it that afternoon on the Sunday Arvo, but I just I weighed till that 939. - I did that. - You put a lot of thought into this. - Let me just be a man. - Backtrack to the start of the episode when Chris Stett is not giving it to Strava politics and LeBa Thousand Blossoms Blume. - Look at Pamela and Raybrough. - Now Jordan, that has not stopped. He has done this since episode. one you have hidden bad workouts in your strapper. Well, I've done that for ages, but I'm right. Right. Just behave. At a particular basis. That race was definitely worth a hard. Oh, that is so. Every is hiding heart rate face like for a good while. He's trying to say that he's watched was wrong. The watch wasn't giving me accurate heart rate. It's so funny. He always say the watch will never give him accurate heart rate, but then he'll go to heart rate on his watch when it gives him good feedback. Yeah, be like, "Lock me around and I'll let you know that he was one eight eight eight boys." All right. I've got one back from episode 10, our first episode with Average Dom Slim. It's an absolutely beautiful part of Zambia. Living stone is right on the border with Zimbabwe and it's Victoria Falls. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, it's an incredible part of the world with our conference, essentially. The hotel staff said you absolutely can't run outside and the major danger is hippos and elephants. Literally, they'll run into it. Apparently they're really aggressive. So they have to be like. Well, he goes kill more people than anyone. –what weuan are these days? –No way, you're good again. You're in you school and would do it together. –I'm not an object at all going to be out animals and I said the hippo killed more than anyone. –Oh, other animals. –And then at the end were like, I get what you mean mate. And he's like, yeah, thanks. –That was, that was, that was so funny mate. –The first chat sucked around for a while, didn't it? –Didn't it? –I've noticed, I got a really, really high voice, don't I? –Now, I, Tee would have since listening back to the like first episodes, I've noticed our voices of all completely changed. Like, I think we have a little bit of podcast maturity about us now. If I'm going to pump ourselves up, like, my list is gone. Jordan's less squeaky. And maybe it's because we're not together that we're less excited maybe. Maybe that's what it is. –Maybe, yeah. –Surely, surely, surely I got a voice recorded Jordan's little sound that he made that time. –Oh, that one, how you had an aneurysm? –No, I don't, I don't. –Eee, what was that? I can't even remember what episode that was. –Oh, that was, that was when we were recording at Chris's. That was a good while again. –That was when we go, how are you Jordan? Yeah, I'm good mate. Me. That was the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I have, this is another snippet from when we had a moves on. –Are you guys have mega run up there? –Oh, we're not going to give it a try. –Don't unwig it. –We can't do what you guys want to be part of that. –Oh, no. –Meas, I've just served them. –Oh, no. –Thereup. –I totally forgot that mega run were a thing for a while. –Yeah, I've completely forgotten about them. It's just, they've just vanished from, from society, really, haven't they? –It was a thing now that was two years ago. –Wow, that's a long time, isn't it? That is a very, very long time. –I was even a bit shocked when you said the last time we had an Andy on this episode –50. –No, 13. We had 13.50. –Yeah, but 50 was a last time. –Yeah, that felt like not that long ago, I don't reckon. –Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. –That was April last year, that's what it was getting stressing. –That was the night where you thought you might have had it, hey? –That's right, you did before we recorded with Andy, I remember John Cundin goes, "I had pain in the night last night and I went, "No, I don't say that." As we just had Andy on earlier, but then this was from episode 50 where he, yeah. –Here we are. –50 is good, 50 is very nice, definitely. –Yeah, no, you weren't wrong. We have a very special guest, Andy Buchanan has come to celebrate our 50th and also go through his London prep. London's this week, Andy, how you going? –Yeah, good guys, thanks for having me on. The good thing about a podcast is you can keep doing it even if no one listens. So hopefully you guys do have some business. –Yeah, I remember when he said that to me and I went, "Sickie hates our guts." –That's just how the Andy sent to humor is exactly that, hey? Just draw, like, he hits you a little bit, you know what I mean? God, when I was going through a few of these parts as well, I remember some of the rogue things that we've spoken about, like how we've eaten, I think I came through a plastic clip where I spoke about how I'd eat a banana on toast, but how to eat it like a sausage in bread. –Oh, yes. –I remember that. –And it's, I haven't done that for a while. I'm going to have to actually run that back. But that was back when we were talking about Olympic qualifiers. Doesn't that feel like that was two years ago now where we were like the start of this time, two years ago, where we were talking about Olympic qualifiers? –Is it an amazing thing? We're going to be talking about, I mean, like, 12 months stuff. –Soon, I know. –They open up soon, but they're all going to be gone for them next year. –I know. –But imagine Valencia, Marathon next year. –Court. –It's literally going to be all the females and all the males that you don't have a qualifier. –But even all of the males and everyone from other countries as well, it's going to be stacked. –That's crazy. –Absolutely stacked. –But no, it's been a wild ride. 100 episodes. I remember when we first started recording and I remember saying to you guys, like, look, we can start recording if we get to what do we need to get to? I think it's like what, 14 episodes are something to be in the top 1% or something of podcasts that are regularly going to be posting. I was like, that's all we need to get to. 10 episodes. It took us 20 weeks to get there because we did every four nights. But I know, like, you know, now that's grown, we've grown new friendships, we've grown new running community people who talk about like minor things. So I've really enjoyed the ride so far, fellas. –Oh, absolutely. I couldn't agree more. The community out there, the GGR, the GGR Mafia in community, you have Unreal. –The GGR Mafia. –All the fans out there that stick by through and through, we appreciate it. –Yeah. –Let me just swing one by, who's what's the best performance over the 100 episodes? Out of us three. Who's the best one on the board? –Are we talking running or? –Yeah, talking running. So Mac has got a, what do you got a 238? –I got a 238. A 16, 45. 16, 48. –Actually, let's put this to the listeners. Who's got the best spread? What's not me? Because I've got a 307. –No, but you ran a 1555, I remember. –Hmm. –So, me boys, I don't want to be in competition with you two. I'm all about just growing together. –Oh, I'm just growing together. –Oh, piss off. –Oh, piss off, mate. –But also, you ran a 1/13, which I think is more impressive than a 238. But then what did you run a park round like 17 minutes, four times? So, I think I peeped you there. –So, when this year, ever since we've recorded, remember how you're allergic to racing for like three years? –I actually have raised a decent amount since this podcast to be fair. –Yeah. –Now, but remember that first year, it took Will Gibson getting in to you before he started to sign into race. –That's right. Yeah, and until Chris O'Round's a marathon, I'm not interested in any of his results. –Chris has been living in the past in his results. So, we're not interested. –We don't care what you're in with. –They're on the board, they're on the board though. –Because no matter what you're in with Adzi Gordon, mate, do you just go to run your own race? –Well, we up to the superblast 10 by the time he gets there. –Oh, man. When I get there, I'll get there. –But I'm going to be in the 220s. –Oh, mate, you got like 47 minutes to go. Sam Taney will be a two-hour marathoner by then. –Made, he's going backwards too. –Oh, leave Sam alone. –He's at a big life chain. He's moved to Bruzise. –I saw that. –Look out, so, so, so, so, so, run-com. –Oh, he did. Yeah, he done. –Sparrow? –He do well there. –Sparrow, run-clop. Do we have a favourite, do we have a favourite, like, do you have a guess that stands out or a moment that really sticks, you know, clear in your memory? Like, you know, we've loved all the guests, but has there been someone in your mind who's the first one that springs to mind when you have a guest? –A guest. –A guest that springs to mind. I think it is really hard to choose a singular guest only because was every time we've asked someone, like someone that, you know, we look up to and we value their opinion in training or however it is, I'm always surprised that they're interested, that they're keen. So I think like every time I have a guest, that we have a guest on, I think that is insane that we've had a four-time Olympian on or we've had, you know, a strain representative or, you know, two, 14 marathoner or, you know, I think there are two or six marathoner, you know, record holding, record holders, 59 minute half marathoner. I think every time I think this is insane because I would never have expected this to happen. I would have expected so many air balls where it just went all like, you know, balls that went through to the keep up. But I think, you know, interviews that really stood out were Jen Gregson. I thought that was amazing, you know, fresh off her coming, getting a four-time Olympian call up, Olympic call up. I think that whole training series I really enjoyed, Alex, I was back here. And then I think more recently, probably more deskyring just because of, you know, how long we've followed her for and then, you know, she was very natural when she's very much as well. It really did feel like we were talking about my body. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%. But then, you know, the other side of the coin, it's so hard to pick because you get so much vulnerability from these runners as well, like just stents and lease away. And these things that you would never have expected or, you know, things that I probably never would have imagined information that we'd get out of these people. But yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that probably, yeah, those, those for me, how about you guys? And then you've had the like three biggest, probably mouths at the moment in Australian running, like Andy, Jack and Brett. Brett was unreal. Yeah, I enjoyed Brett. And he keeps coming back and we love him for it. And he always has good insights and have probably good band or off the air. Andy almost feels like, um, as I said to you earlier, like just part of the, part of the GGR family now, doesn't he? Part of the mafia you said you're reckon. Yeah. What about you, Jordy? Like is there any, any few, listen, you know, guests that we've had on that stand out? Um, I sort of just pick one, isn't it? I'm a, yeah, pick one. Be a couple that you sort of, um, God, I don't know. Any, any that you've listened back to, and I'm certainly frothed. I did, I know he's a rival podcast, but I did enjoy the chat with moose. Um, it's always great talking, it's always great talking to, um, like moose and, and or Brady, like it's always great. Because he always, Brady's a legend and so's moose. Yeah, they were very giving of their time most to, which was awesome. He's like, he told them on that podcast, right? Oh, hey, old croaks. Hey, I actually reached out to croaks and asked if he wanted to come on. And he, um, no, he said, he, in really nice words, said, shove it. No, he didn't. He said, no, he's, he's not interested in I thought fair enough. At least he said, at least he didn't ghost me. This is not, not, not interested. Um, for them, we don't like ghosting. Um, don't like ghosting. Don't like it. Yeah, a few that, uh, for me that stood out, I really enjoyed Jess Rothwell. Yep. Current chat with Jess. I, yeah, all the ones you mentioned as well, but just for some different ones, uh, I enjoyed enjoyed as Akane. I thought he was really cool and, uh, yeah, very natural as well. Who had good bands with him. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And about, I think we've covered all of them. Yeah. Really? It's always good, you know, having the lead. Yeah, Liam Bootin coming back on a fair few times. Liam Bootin's been great. Yeah, he's been very easy to chat to Liam. Yeah. Yeah. Well, listen, listen, right? And if you're, uh, if you've had an interesting listen or something that you've gotten something out of, I know people loved hearing that training series that we did a while back people, um, really got something out of that. So that's always, we do love to have a chat too. Oh, good call. Good call. So yeah, 2026, 2027, who's, who's someone in the pipeline that you, you, you think of and go cheese that person's, yeah. Oh, after watching Cloudy is 3k the other week, I'd love to have a chat to her. Mm-hmm. And speaking of Cloudy, did you see her over the weekend? Yeah. And, um, Box Hill. Yeah, we'll get to that. Yeah. Sure. We are. Yeah, sorry. I've probably got the one just. What's the eighth quickest time of all? Uh, oh, yeah. I feel like I might have been doing it in just a sec. It was like 3508 or something, wasn't it? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, yeah, it'd be good for Cloudy, I think. Maybe someone like Craig Motrim, that'd be pretty cool to have on. Mm-hmm. There's just someone you haven't, you don't hear a lot from. I feel as though I would hate to ask him a question that I didn't like though, because I reckon he'd tell us to get stuffed. Yeah. I don't know if he's speaking. He's speaking. He's speaking. He's speaking. He's speaking. He's speaking. He's speaking. He's speaking. I saw your gift. I hated that, didn't he? Move on. I'm glad you're getting Stuart McGill on. That was, that was left field. I just lost it. I didn't expect that to happen. Yeah, because that guy wouldn't leave it alone. So I think. Yeah, well, they actually threw a podcast together. Oh, weird. That's a weird. Yeah. That's a weird set up. Yeah. What about you guys? I'd like to get our, our recon stewie would be really good. Yeah. That's a good call. Callie? Callie Robinson? Jockeany. Cobbacai. Cobbacai. Cobbacai. Cobbacai. Well, yeah, that'd be, that'd be pretty cool, especially because we've spoken about him a lot. Jockeany, listen. Cobbacai. Well, do you know who I was? Cobbacai made me think of that I really enjoyed our chat with because, um, Zach, um, that's you, Tony? Yeah. Great. Great chat with Zach, Tony. I'm keen to see what's next for Zach. Um, yeah. He's left on now. So I'm definitely keen to see him, um, get on the start line and, um, have a good red hot crack. Hmm. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yes. Me too. All right. We'll see. Should we get on some running news? We've been going for an hour and a half. Let's, uh, you know, episode 100. Which has to come to an end at some stage we can't revel in his glory forever. Can we? Yeah. Yeah. Let's, um, roll through it and have a look. Have we got some around the grounds? Krasso. Yeah. So we've obviously, uh, touched on a little bit with Andy, but we had some outstanding results from some, uh, good Queensland lads over at the Bash year run. Uh, Tim Vincent and Liam Boot and absolutely outstanding. I was stoked to see this for these lads 61, 61, oh, eight for Liam Boot and 61, 17 for Tim. So yeah, I was wrapped to see these two boys run. So well, it looks like the most random, possible time. It literally looked like the, the Kedron Brook or just some random bike path. Um, so I don't really know what that was about. But even more kudos to them that were able to do that on such a funky looking, uh, course, just look narrow and just in the middle of nowhere. Uh, it looked like there was tumbleweeds on the side of the, of the kind of the, the narrow sort of bike path thing that they were running on. So maybe they played into Tim strength, you know, running his nine hours, 10 hours along the brook every week. Him and, uh, him himself and Liam pretty easy for them to go on smack fast halves over there. But, you know, they're progressively getting better and I've listened to Tim chat about how, you know, a PB is his aim. Uh, but geez, you've got to have a bit of confidence for those boys, uh, going into London. Yeah. Doesn't, doesn't Liam just go about it quietly, proficiently and he, but he, he, he man, Tim, they could run something pretty scary in London. So isn't it great for Queensland running that these two are just churning them out? Derek and they team up, they team up to pace, uh, to help each other. Uh, at London, makes sense when I think they will for sure. I don't think they'll do a Cox brother, uh, sort of double act in across the finish line holding hands, but I think they'll definitely help each other out. Hmm. Well, they'll be silly not to like they're only going to benefit from, you know, both running smart races. They're only gets difficulty for like one starts to fall away. Well, you kind of think they wouldn't kind of be aiming for probably the same thing. Maybe Tim, maybe Tim a little bit faster than Liam given, oh, they've both, they both had a bit of, um, interrupted training recently. 61, 61, oh, eight, 10 or 61, 10 is roughly 29 to 210 marathon conversion. Hmm. I think, I think Liam's cherry rock. I think he's, he's had a few marathons now where he's been around that sort of same marker. I think he's read a launch. Hmm. I wonder if there's anything, you know, Andy was saying about them, the marathon. I wonder if there's any thought about London with the Queen's and Fellows. I wonder if that's ever crossed anyone's mind. It would be very unsuspecting, but I don't know if you've seen the photos. There's got to be something. There's something in Liam Boone put on the bloody plan, Taurus and put and pull on that Asick shirt on. There's got to be someone in that beat. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We also had another Queen's lander, Jen Gregson, 225. Oh, seven, I think it was as well. Yeah. Over in Japan came eight, I think. That's corked. Yeah. How good is that? That is good. But man, she's as hard as a cat's head, mate. She is so tough and she's just grit and yeah, just unbelievable. That's a good one on the board. Like that's come back from birth, second child. That's she's primed for the end of the year. Like she's got that one out of the way now. And it's a good run. But we talk about it. Like I imagine like their training that they do is harder than ours up there at Q pack or Q sack or whatever it is. Like to put one on the board that that quick is super impressive. Hmm. Yeah. Well, that's, you know, this is almost stock standard for these ladies now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's how far they're like. That's how they've come. Like if you're not running these for like, you know, you're an ideal, you're not ideal marathon or then are you really in the frame? Well, that was an Olympic qualifier as well. Remember when all the girls ran at Valencia? Yeah. So you get a couple of months under the under the belt when she comes back and 225 after, you know, giving birth, not a huge amount of time ago. And then obviously get a little bit less heat through the next block as well. And yeah, there's no reason why she can't attack that Australian record in my opinion. Good chance. How good does, how good does that make not comparing the two, but like they think back to Jess's 223 59 to qualify for the Olympics when she was six months back from birth, I think was it six months or nine months? Yeah, you have something ridiculous. Yeah. Yeah. So. Incredible. Yeah, we all said big bad Brett. He was first over in a Japanese half marathon running 63. I don't know. I think it was 40 something. I don't actually have the exact end bit of that result. But yeah, just another great run on the board for Brett. Got the win. So he's building form very nicely. So. It will be good to see him potentially. I don't know. Long system wins that. That's not far away. Yeah. I want to know which one of those cash you get for going over and winning that race too. You'd be getting it. He'd be getting a little bit for sure. You wouldn't go over it all the way to Japan for a weekend to for a haircut, mate. So I think. Well, that's what that you can really disregard the time there. He's just raised the race there. Contour that 6340s. A training like he said that in. He said that in his pod that he was. He looked up last year's results and kind of just wanted to get the get the job done. That's good too. Like confidence, you know, that's a place of massive part in any runner. So the track's only one. It is, hasn't it? Big speed, big confident guy. Hey Chris, so do you hear that? The track's done in wonders. Oh, I've been doing a lot of speed work though lately to be fair. Yeah, but it's not the track, mate. You comfortable on the roads. You got to be you got to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Yeah, good call. I'm happy going about it. How I am at the moment. So we also had friend of the show, keep Lema going to a world record. He's he'd be definitely seen in the episode 100 and he'd be maybe that was a little bit of a tip of the hat. Like he goes, well, I know that the boys over at Good Good Running, my favorite podcast at episode 100. I think it's only fair that I tip the hats of them and break a world record. So 57 minutes for a half marathon is insane. And no, thank you, keep Lema for breaking that world record on episode 100. You got to be a little bit stitched up, don't you, to have to break your record twice. Hey, Lisey, look like he actually worked a bit harder for this one. There was a bit of a grimace coming down the street. Look, I don't know if it was fabricated, but you know, like I'll just put that one out there. Yeah, no, you look, um, kudos to him. Good run. Yeah, a bit of a tactical one, you're again, just, you know, don't break it, break it by so much. Yeah, don't obliterate it this time. Just back to Lonsus and I just got it up quickly. It's end of May, but you remember the prize money there? Huge. Oh yeah, 8 grand for first, four for second, 32, hundred, but third, four, 24, hundred, even fifth, $1600. Oh, I mean, it'd be crazy not to do it. I don't know what the pays like, um, elsewhere, I don't know what ballerad is even, but I think Lonsus and would have to be that that would be almost the richest race, wouldn't it? Yeah, and extra four grand for, um, running 61, 08 for the man and 6639 for the women, um, 66 39. Oh yeah, because it's the Australian all-comers, which that'll be carried tomatoes. 66 from the coast. Right, right, right. Yes, yes, yes. Course bonus, 69 51 for the women. Mm-hmm. Um, that was a good payday. 61, oh, eight, the way these fellas are on a nowadays, like that is, that's the new threshold, isn't it? Yeah, I reckon, um, I reckon there'd be a few people that'd be looking at thinking that they might be a bit of a shot of that. Isaac Hayne, um, I don't know where the Brett is doing it, but he usually does do Lonsestan. So I reckon he would be, I'd almost imagine he would be definitely doing that. Great footage to Jack. Five weeks out from Gold Coast Marathon, just a little touch up half. See where we're at. Little tough. He's gonna, I don't reckon he'll bother doing that. I reckon he would be, um, Yeah, I couldn't see him doing Lonsestan, but I could be wrong. Maybe we go fellas. I'd love to go to Lonsestan one year. Yeah, I'll just be after the marathon. So before I go back and defend my title and go to China, so maybe I could do it. All right, hey, what do you guys want to do? Do you want to call it wraps on that? We've been chatting now for a long time. I don't want to bore anyone. But, um, yeah, it's good. We don't have to do the same, you know, we kind of covered a bit of a, bit of everything, bit of everything. Yeah, let's wrap it up anyway for episode 100, 100 of the best, only up from here. The grass is always greener on the other side of 100. Don't crop, it's oversmall because it happened, I guess. Yeah, definitely, definitely small because it happened. Hey boy, the plans was to have no plan and the plans have come to plan. That's what we're talking about. Oh, I like that one. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Oh, shit. That's what anything Chris, you got anything to add there? I've got nothing, boy. You ran a 244 marathon in 1080s, man. Oh, what about, hey, what about one little signing off when Chris sent us a photo this morning of his calves and he was wearing the same socks he did the session in to work today? No, they weren't the same socks. They were the same socks. You can see the same dirt mark on the side of the couch. You see, don't lie to us. Well, got a couple of pairs of those same socks. No, no one has CEP socks anymore, mate. No, I've got like three pairs of them. All right, I will go and get both of them right now, both the dirty pairs. Why don't I just smell Chris's socks? I can imagine walking in the store and going, did an animal die in here? Is it in those guys shoes? All right, fellas. Yeah, it's been a pleasure, boys. It's great doing this with you guys. And I've had a ball. Me too. Me two fellas. Hey, I hope all the listeners have. And I hope that they've all been listening pretty bloody well. And you're only allowed one guest too. You can't come in with a whole paragraph of guesses. So you've got one guest and you've got one opportunity to seize the moment. Yeah. So don't go and screw it up. Do you have any little suspicions who will get it? Who's your odds on? Who's paying short odds on sports, but George, you'd know that. I don't know. I reckon Stuffy could be a go. She's a big fan. Yeah, Stuffy could be a go. Probably Deegan, after he's made a new route, no, or a segment. He might do it and he might look, might sit on his computer and listen. Yeah, Deegan would be a good chance. Well, we got to say, actually, a good way to listen. Are we talking about the winch shoes here? Yes. Yeah, it would be, you know how you get subtitled? Yeah, it's a lot of titles. One year's 45. Yeah. Oh, Jordan, Jordan, Jordan, Jordan. Yeah, we're at the end of the app, mate. They're really decent. Like they've probably already got a bone out. Surely he thinks so. If you haven't, you've already missed out. He said super blast. Fuck, it's seven days. We've only said the heaps. Yeah, at least Jordan's only said I'm 400 days. We've only said our names, so many times. Oh, that's gags and also rude. But I wouldn't, wouldn't prefer with anyone else. All right, fellas, that's episode 100. Let's see you next week for 101. Maybe we're going to need to be at the end of the week. We'll see and good to chat. As always, boys.
