Episode 10: Time, Space, and finding light in the season of germination

The "Mental Hygiene" podcast, hosted by Susan and Yogi Chiru, explores the connection between cosmic cycles and personal well-being. Yogi Chiru explains that the universe operates in intelligent, cyclical patterns, such as the four Yugas (cosmic seasons) and the four earthly seasons, which mirror the four phases of breath: inhalation (spring), retention (summer), exhalation (fall), and suspension (winter). This alignment highlights how external rhythms influence internal states. As the northern hemisphere enters winter, a time for introspection, the hosts advise using this period to reflect on the past year, plan meaningful growth for the next, and avoid seasonal depression by recognizing the temporary nature of all seasons. Practical yogic tools, like observing nostril dominance to balance solar and lunar energies and performing Sun Salutations in winter, are offered to help individuals harmonize with these natural cycles, fostering mental hygiene through conscious alignment with universal wisdom.

Welcome to Mental Hygiene, a space to care for the mind like we care for the body, daily, gently and with love. Posted by Yogi Chiru and Susan Huu, this podcast brings ancient Yogi wisdom into modern life, offering practical tools to cleanse the mental clutter, restore inner stillness, and reconnect with your true self. Take a breath, you're exactly where you need to be. Welcome to Mental Hygiene. Hello everyone, welcome to Mental Hygiene. My name is Susan and I'm with my teacher Yogi Chiru today. We're going to speak about these two strong force timings as we are literally transition towards the third time of the year for those of us living on the northern hemisphere of the planet. Yogi Chiru, how are you doing today? I'm doing good. Nice to be here again with all of you as we are moving. Right now our earth is moving through space. We're circling in the sun at time. So it's nice to, as we evolve to contemplate these subtle forces that are constantly affecting us, not partially, constantly. Right? So it's nice that we get to sit down and explore it and grow with them because they are expression of wisdom of the universe and they are there to help us to wake up to our higher self. Amazing. And sometimes I feel like the concept of time and space can be so ethereal. It's hard to grasp. But from Yogi's perspective, it's really something that we're living through every single moment. It's within even every single breath that we're taking. Yogi Chiru, can you share a little bit with us how do we relate to the rhythm of the universe that we're working through with this physical body that we live in this physical temple that we have? So the first thing we want to understand is the universe and time is cyclic. And the universe, just like our earth planet, the earth planet is a subset of the five fast universe. The reason why parts of our universe go through the four seasons is because those four seasons are taking place in the outer universe as well. So in the outer universe, we call those the four Yugas in Sanskrit and the Yogi astrological charts. And that's why you GA for those of us that's listening. Yuga, yeah, why you GA, Yuga, Yuga means a season or so. When the universe first was created, it lasted for a certain amount of time. And we call it such a Yuga. And that's old and H. And after that time was finished, then that season is four times the age we're living in the time frame. And after that season finished, it went into Trature Yuga. And then that Trature Yuga is three times the season we're living in the time frame. After that, Dwarpa Yuga and Dwarpa Yuga is twice the time frame we are living in. And now we're living in Kali Yuga. So the time frame in Kali Yuga is 432,000 years. So that means Dwarpa, you got two times twice that. Trature Yuga is three times that. It's four times that everything is intelligently created. It's not me, it's not there, forget it up. And it correlates with all our number system. Everyone in this universe is governed by space and time. But what is time doing, creating numbers for us. And so in Yogic Astrology, Benedict Astrology and Neumarology, we work with the numbers of, like Western, one, two, nine, boom. So the time frames fit into those cycles. Everything is in the cycle of nine. So 432,000 years, 4 plus 3 is? 7. 7 plus 2 is? 9. Right there. So we see the cycles there. So now when we take birth on this planet, wait, this planet is going through. Because it's a subset of the macro universe, it goes through those seasons. I can't. We call it right now. We're ending fall and we're going to start winter season followed by spring, followed by summer, followed by fall again. So there's an intelligence that's controlling our seasons on our planet. If you're born a little further away from the equator, you will experience the four seasons. And the four seasons because it's so intelligent, they follow one by one. You don't go from spring flowers out straight to winter. Now it's intelligently engineering. So as we grow, we start to wake up to the four seasons and understand every time you circulate the sun, your birthday goes, your birthday comes back, you go through those four seasons. So those four seasons are there and you do different things in different seasons. And then the yoga is on us. So the four seasons are teaching us that. So your mind should connect to the four seasons and that will help you to understand the universe, the four seasons of the universe. But then God also provided another set of four for us. That is the four parts of the brain. It doesn't matter who you are. And that's why I could, when I phone you, I could resonate with it. It doesn't matter if someone is a Christian, Buddhist, Baha'i, Muslim, Jewish, 80s, it doesn't matter what title you give yourself. There is four parts to your birth. And it's even just a human form either. Even for our NO friends. There is the inhalation, split second retention inside, exhalation, split second retention outside, inhalation again. So those four, so when they reach the yogis of ancient times sat down with their breath, it's not that they're just sitting down with their breath. They're getting deep evolution and consciousness and wisdom of the micro universe, the body they have, the planet. And of the whole macro universe. So this is how they started to calculate. Lava, they started to calculate astrological stuff just from understanding the nature of the breath. That's amazing. It's so often these days, I think, in this new age, people say you're the entire universe. But really, the yogis reach it from long ago. They already recognize that. And literally, we share the same rhythm as the outer universe. And when we really take the time to go deeper inward to understand our own breath even, we get to understand so much about what's around us. Yeah, exactly. So yeah, so the seasons are divinely engineered. Our body with the breath, divinely engineered. Our beautiful planet on this beautiful universe, divinely engineered. So while we're here on this earth, and we're going through four seasons, a lot of four seasons, a lot of four seasons, it's not just going through the four seasons, going through them, but learning, growing. What is each season teaching me outside that affects you inside? So we know we're entering. So in the four parts of the breath, inhalation is considered spring. The split second retention inside when you hold the breath in coma, we call it this summer. You body warms up, right? And then as you exhale, we call it the fall. As we detox, we release the leaves fall. And then the suspension of the breath out, that is the winter season. So that's it. So the winter, they always combine it today, it's to the breath outside. And so if we are truly trying to live in alignment with the nature, the rhythm that's outside of us, as we are entering the season of winter, it's also a good time for me to go a little bit deeper inward. We've already gone through the spring season where we're bringing new energy. We've already gone through the summer season. We've already gone through the time where we start to shed a different layers. Now it's the time for us to go into a perspective to really go a little bit deeper into our spiritual practice. Although in this day and age, so many of us, when I can speak for myself, when it's getting darker outside, and very soon here, we're going to change the clock and it's going to be darker so much earlier in the evening. We often hear this word seasonal depression. When it gets darker, naturally, the mood becomes a little bit darker as well. So how do we, from a mental hygiene perspective, use this time to go inward, but without going too much into the mode of inertia? Wow, very good point. That as humans, and also the animals too, go true. Depression is easily took, especially at the latter part of winter. When the first snow comes, everyone likes it. But when it kicks late, January, late, October, that's when the mind, when is it going to end? Tired of it. So what we often understand is the seasons are teaching us. Not one of them is permanent. They only last for a while. And we've been through them again and again and again. So, okay, it's going to be cold, freeze only for a while. And then, four or five months ago, what were the humans complaining? Chuha. No, no. So in the Gita, Krishna tells our June season, happiness and distress. I like the seasons. They come and go, and they're from sense perception. And one must learn to become a Dira, tolerate them. As per just the Kantae, asitosh, nashuka, dukada, agama, painon, it just thams the ticchas about that. Tolerate the happiness and the stress which comes from this season. They're just lasting for a while. So that's one realization we have to have deep inside of us. The darker, the shorter days will only last for a while. And while we're going through the darkness of the time, we can also use those precious times to allow them to help us to kind of plan what are the seeds that we're going to grow, to allow those seeds to germinate so that when the time comes, when the spring season comes, we can start to grow as well. Yes. And we have a beautiful point, right? Normally on our planet, that we live, we live a beautiful planet, New Year's resolution, but the New Year resolution is actually like you said, it's a germination of this time. If you want to plant a seed, you don't put the seed in sunlight, you have to put it in under the earth. So it germinates and you water it, germination and then it breaks out. So as the days get shorter and more darkness, this is a time for us to go inwards to see what have I accomplished in 2025. Where can I improve in 2026? So this is another time to contemplate, maybe I need to improve my physical exercise, improve my mental peace. Maybe I need to do more meditation, maybe I need to do a little more community service. Maybe I need to refine, oh, 2025, 2025, over at Taiwan, okay, let me, 2026, let's go on refining my eaten intake. So you're germin, so it's a beautiful time to take stock of what you have accomplished in 2025, the pros and cons. And then let's try and plan, try and put that paragraph of what you want to see manifest in 2026. So then on New Year's days, not even just thinking of it, no, you've already had November and December to really germinate how you can restructure 2026 because you're going to go through the same cycles. And that way because of all the reflection that we're doing in this times of darkness, all the preparation, when the seeds are being planted, they are the actual seeds that we want to grow. It's not because of other people are saying this who I'll make you happy, it's not because I'll have the pressure, I have to do something different this year, but it's rather truly coming out of the heart. And that's the only way our resolutions, our transformations can be sustainable in true to our hearts. And that's why it's in the bed as it explains, if someone makes a choice for you, Krishna tells our June, it is better to do your Dharma imperfectly than to do someone else's Dharma perfect. I read that for the first time, I remember I meditate that and just opened so much for me that this life, every human you meet, takes a little time to introspect where they are, what are we doing, what is life, we introspect a lot. So this is a time to really deepen that introspection and then put our desires on our mind, rather than someone else making desires for us. And fortunately that's society today. People just follow, I'm going to do this, we don't even think in why am I doing this. The marketing people control their mind, the marketing people, how do you think doing this, doing this, right? They have holidays and the marketing people go all out on them. There is this holiday, that holiday, that's how you are. You live in throughout a cycle where people are imposing their marketing, capitalism on the mind, you went through them this year and you're still not happy. Some of them are right. And maybe some did make you happy, so in Decks here, let's do the ones that made you happy this year. The ones that didn't make you, let's refine them. How we take stock, what did I do in all these months? Okay, I'm going to go wrong again, I'm going to go through the same cycles again. So let's see, how can I start to improve on my cons and turn them into pros? That's so beautiful. Yeah, in those moments of seemingly darker amounts of the year, that's the perfect time for us to really reflect, taking inventory of what's happening, what have I been doing with the time and space that I have been given in this life and so that we can prepare. Next year, how do we make any transformation in a way that really allows me to use the time properly? Because every single one of us, the time and space is constantly pushing us and we don't know when is the last moment that we have. So how do we use that present moment, the precious time in a way that helps us to evolve rather than just go through the cycles? Because this is this holiday I'm supposed to be doing this or something else that the society tells us to rather than coming from within. Yes, from within. What resonates with my higher self? There are rhythms that connect to us. So we want to keep doing those. But then there are some which I like in my country, two political parties and villas. So I remember one political party had Independence Day. So the other political party went and created a fake new, a fake lie of a war that we won. So they celebrate that far. So I grew up celebrating two festivals, one in the fair and one in the fair. And this other one was not real. It's like, I'm it. But then you get cultural, you get cultural eyes. The tenth of September is a celebration. But it's it's my main. It had nothing to do with the country one and it definitely doesn't have nothing to do with the higher self. But you get cultural eyes. So as we start, oh, I can delete this one. I can delete that one. I can find the ones that resonate with me and higher. And what are some of the ways that we can guide us in those moments where otherwise we're just going to be dragged by different things. The marketing people, the government, whoever their agenda is trying to take us to. So in the rich culture, the rich is understood. They were living enough on the earth. And there was a king, right? And if you read the yogic text, king, parakeet, or king Yudhisthir and the managerial, they were like what we call today our prime minister's president, the manager administrators. But they were understanding that they are the managerial. They're in charge of society. They live their own. And they are innocent. They need blessings from forces which are superior to them. So the superior forces that they would connect to where the sun and the moon. And so they would respect the sun. That's why in yoga culture, we have Suriya Namaskar. Salutation to the moon, Salutation to the sun. And so they understood. I might meet a ruler of the earth, but no, I'm going to put here for a while there. Actually, their higher forces, I cannot rule if the sun is not there. I cannot rule if the moon is not there. I cannot rule if mother earth, mother boom is not here. So they were humble in their consciousness. This is one of the first. These kings of the past were advanced yogis. They were advanced kings of the land of the vote. Some of them were locked in Samadhi in deep trance. Although they were ruling the kingdom. Because they are the politics. And they are following their rhythms. So they are following their rhythm. All administrators on our planet have to follow their sun and moon. Because every day they will get tired and go to sleep when the moon comes up. Every day they'll get up with energy when the sun comes up. So it doesn't matter which administration we have in different planets, they are still subjected to the forces that are higher than them. And so when they would rule and so the riches were protected. So the riches would guide the kings. They would teach the kings. And there's administrative class. They would come from the mountains and teach the kings of how the planets are moving. How much years you have in this yoga. How the breath is controlled by the planets. So right now we have the same body that's engineered like them. So if you were to check your nostril right now you will see one of your nostril is more open. Try close your right nostril which are come and inhale and exhale through your left. And then switch it. Close the left. Inhale and exhale through the right. You will find one is blocked. One is more open. Right. So left side is open. That's the moon energy. Dominant in your mind and body right now. If your right nostril is open the solar energy is dominant in your mind and body right now. So the whole process of yoga of this Rishi culture was to understand when the rhythms are changing in me. And if your right nostril is open right now in about 60 minutes, 75 it will switch. If your nostril is open, 67 it will switch over to the right. So then when it switches it affects the hemispheres of the brain. So then your whole body chemistry change. Acidity to alkaline, alkaline to acidity. So many things are changing in the body. Just switch off the planetary forces through your nostrils. So then the yogis, they will teach the kings, okay. Fall is coming. I mean fall is coming to an end. Now winter is coming. So in the yoga, when I was learning in my yoga practice, there's these four days. Actually right now from 27, 28, 29, 30. Yeah, the four days before the change of the season, that's when we would increase because it's the moon's energy, the sun's energy is a little less in this next four months. Four days we would start to learn the sun mantras. So in the swara yoga, on full moon night, the moon is so strong. So to balance the moon's energy so we don't go crazy to balance it, the yogis, the teach, the next morning after this full moon, when you meditate at sunrise, as the sun is coming up, we want the right nostril. And then there are techniques to open the right nostril so that your solar energy balance the moon's energy. So we're aligned with the rhythm outside of us. Yeah, aligned in your microscope universe to the macro universe. So then on new moon phase, the moon is weak. So the next day after new moon, when you meditate at sunrise, you want the left nostril shall be open so that the moon is contouring the solar energy that's in us. So similarly, and that one, we do those swarrows with the moon phase every day because the moon is waxing, waning, waxing, and it's changing every day. All the titties are there. The sun is different. The sun is, we go through the 28 and a half and a 3/3 of the moon changing in one month, but the sun is different. We don't see half a sun or crescent sun or three quarters of this. We always see the sun 100%. But as the moon moves around the sun, the shadow comes in and then the sun rises here, but it's less. So we call it the winter season. So then in the winter season, that's when I was trained to do Suria Namaskar. So we would do 100, for 4 months, we would do 108 sun salutation to raise the sun's energy in us. And we were young. The older yogis didn't do that. The older yogis did the sun mantras. So they would go on a sannana to do the sun mantras for like 2 hours, just chanting the mantras to the sun to raise the energy of the heat in us, the prana in us. So you're counteracting the winter energy in us. And so this is a really culture understanding what's dominant, how to create the balance. And in the West, we tried to do it, right? Like, it's not bad, but I see when do people do 108 sun salutation in the West? Summer sells this when the sun is the highest. How does that? That's not when you should do 108. You can do maybe 5 or 10 right to the sun, but traditionally you would do it in the winter. Yes. That's when it starts so that you can heat up the body with the winter season. So I think as time goes on, remember a lot of times when people do yoga practices in the West, they're not taught true tradition, right? It's like, oh, this sounds good. It feels good. Okay, 108 sun salutation in 95 degrees in New York City. Hello, welcome. It's not wrong, but it's incomplete. Let's do it then. Winter sound. It's so hard to do. Yeah. So. So for any of our friends that's practicing yoga asnass, winter solstice is coming soon. If that's your practice, this is the time for your 108, your sun salutation. I'm going to meet the organizers of who put that festival on and then just share the wisdom with them, how the dishes they used to do. And then just to help people, oh, it makes sense. So for four months, then we will do that and then counteract it. But that's one way when it is winter, all the dishes raise the prana of the sun. So another understanding on a more deeper spiritual practice, how the dishes will teach the kings of the passes. In the age of darkness, when it's dark, you need a torch like a light to. So you can see in the darkness. So the reaches they explain that in the age when it's dark time, this is a beautiful time to connect to a torch. But what is the torch? The torch in this age, 11 Caliuga is transcendental knowledge. So knowledge from the Vedas, knowledge, which is beyond the three modes of nature, that transcendental knowledge, the times we're living in, we call it the dark age, Caliuga. And we can see that our challenges are wrong us. So what is right? What is wrong? We hear so many things from our cultures that we're born into. And every culture is trying to say, my culture is better than someone else's culture. My religion is better than someone else's religion. My race is superior to that race. So transcendental knowledge from the Vedas' teachers, I am neither lower or higher than any other living entity. My race is neither lower or higher than any other living race. My culture, so transcendental knowledge tries to get us to the essence, to the soul. This is the torch of knowledge we need, especially in this day and age, when everyone is trying to connect to the differences and to establish themselves as superior to someone race, to someone culture, to someone religion. And then it filters in the yoga culture, which yoga practices you, my practice is better than you're misunderstanding of the transcendental knowledge of the Gita, of the Bhagavadtham. So in this day and age, we want to try and connect to that knowledge which teaches not one race is superior to other, to another. Your Asian, I'm African Indian. How many eyes do you have? Two, in this lifetime. How many lungs do you have? Two. How many ears do you have? Two. So many similarities we have, but yet we just say Asian Africa. Now we're misunderstood. When those friends came around to give you a designation of Asian and African, who created that? Before people used to have a higher transcendental consciousness weight, if me and Brenda are different, when, if me and Brenda were to die right now and they cremate our body and then they brought the ash to our parents. Which one is the ashes of the city? The same elements. Thank you. So let's try to raise above transcendental knowledge allows us to see beyond illusion, beyond the craziness of how the royal is ruled. Because we know in Cali, we got darkness, the rulers are not spiritually guided. Like the Rishi time, the Rishi time, the ruler, the administrative council, they had the Rishi and guide them today or rulers don't have that kind of guidance. Now that doesn't mean we can evolve. We just have to understand, okay, I have to find my creation of people who are like-minded, who are evolving on transcendental knowledge. And when you find that Sangha, right? And that's where we are doing the podcast. So people can start to understand, oh yes, we are a spiritual being and we should start to resonate with each other like that more. It's a mixed and all difference. We don't disagree with that. But we have so much more in common than just the few differences. Right? And so let's connect to each other. And anyway, when we find, when we come to that level, we can respect every human. I can respect every religion. I can respect every race. I can respect, but some people are just so staunch in their false ego. They want to hold on that I am better than you. Wow, what is better? You're going to have four parts of the bread like me. And time is pushing you constantly. 60 years from now. Half of the planet, half of the population is on the planet. Won't be here. I won't be here anymore. We only hear for a short while. Reservient vibration. Oledged disease and that is common. It's a cycle. Right? That's the other cycle of this law. This is what is the first we call it youth. Young, young, young, that goes to 25, right? Then young adult, up to 55, then adult, adult, you learn so much now from 55 to 75. And then all age. So we are all going engineer, we're engineer the same way. It doesn't matter what nationality you have. This is the force of time. The force of time and space. Oh, you are a yogi, you are a Buddhist, you're a Hindu, you're a nono. Force of time pushes us on. Respect to the what conception we have in the mind. Now connect to the transcendental knowledge. You're going to oh yes, respect time, respect the bird, respect the sun, respect the moon, connect to that essence. And then wrap it in. That's the light that we should all be turning towards in the darkness, not just darkness of a temper season, but more so the darkness of almost like this you got this age that we're all living through. There's so much that's false. That's incomplete presentation of the truth that we are being fed every single day. In those moments of darkness, when we're able to turn to the light of those transcendental knowledge that connects us to our true essence. That's when we are able to really use those precious time that we have on this planet for our evolution. Yes. Yes. Yes. So you're sure you'll guide us through a short meditation as we are transitioning towards the darker season of the late fall early winter, but also in this age of Cali. How can we continue to work with the force of time and space and hopefully go towards the light one day? One of us, go out for a moment. And I'm going to a nice comfortable seated posture. Bring the palms underneath. That's the tip of the thumbs, tip of the index fingers. Close the eyes softly. Bring the awareness to the breath at the entrance of the nostrils. The breath is the backdrop to life. The breath is an expression of God's unconditional love to us. And as we attach the mind to the breath, our mind comes in the present moment. And as we connect to the four parts of the breath, there's the inhalation followed by a split second retention inside, followed by an exhalation, followed by a split second retention outside, followed by an inhalation again. Keep witnessing the four parts of the breath. And for the next minute, let's equalize the four parts of the fret. Move with me, my pinch, inhale slowly on one on two on three on four. Hold the fret in on one on two, on three on four. Exhale slowly on one on two on three on four. Phole the fret out on one on two on three on four. Inhale on one on two on three on four. Continue at your pace for the next minute. [silence] Exit length. I have to add an exxhalation. Bring the vert back to normal breeding. The resh is connected for aspects of the 4 seasons. The inhalation is the spring season. The retention inside is the summer season. Warm up the exhalation. The fall season leaves toxins fall away and the retention outside the winter season. Our body is engineered this way because it is part of the macro universe which goes through the 4 seasons. As we live on this earth and we are governed by the sun and the moon and the earth reliving as the earth circulates the sun. We go through those 4 seasons. As you go through the 4 seasons every year, one year older, one year older, we start to see patterns. And then you can see certain patterns of your strengths, certain patterns of your weaknesses every year. And so the season we are coming into is the time to take stock and contemplate your pros and cons of 2025. And then contemplate how you want to improve turn your cons into pros for 2022. Contemplate one of those cons. How you would like to improve them. So these next 4 months you can meditate how you can turn the cons and the pros germinate it. Impose it on your mind as the New York accent. Normally each and every one of us get affected by the shorter days, the cold days, cold nights. But we know this season of winter will only last for a while. Spring will be right around the corner. Let's just get through this. Great to refer this season to teach us that the temperate nature of this world. Using winter to guide us with the temperate nature of this world and to guide us with transcendental knowledge. Connect to, let's take this next 4 months to use it as to dive into wisdom that connects us to the soul. Wisdom we need a light to torch. Wisdom of the Vedas. Wisdom of the Gita to connect us that we are all spiritual brothers here on the planet. Almost 8 billion humans on the planet. But 100 years from now, half of the population is on this map. We will all leave our bodies as well. And another set of reincarnated again and again and again. But the soul continues. So the whole goal of understanding the seasons with the breath is to teach us we are a spiritual being. And we came from a spiritual dimension and we should ask for it to go back to that spiritual dimension. Where there are the seasons but we are sharing the seasons with the unity. Grateful for the planet. Grateful for the breath. Grateful for the seasons. Take a deep inhalation. Seal slowly. Breath normal. Alms to the heart. Where the brain is called towards your higher self towards the Lord in the heart. Not to the head. Yeah, it's onion. Thank you so much, Yalvi Cherneru for this beautiful meditation. I hope our listeners here, when we are going through the darker, colder seasons, we can continue turning towards that transcendental knowledge so we can remove the darkness in the heart. And yeah, and if you know someone who might be struggling with seasonal depression, send them a little bit of transcendental knowledge or love, remind them only last word of a while so that we can really use the best of the time that we have. We're gifted in this life for our evolution. And respect the sun, respect the moon, do some sun salitations. And share the wisdom with your friends and family. Let them fall in love with time. Know that time is on our side. You know, a lot of time we hear the phrase, "I don't have enough time." It's enough time for you. This sun is there as our guidance, the moon is there. I think, "I'm mother earth." And let's respect each other on the planet. As we circle the sun, as we move through space around, on this amazing planet, around the sun. Thank you so much, Jogi Churu. Thank you so much for our listening. We'll all speak to you next time. Thank you, Rinda. Always love listening. Thank you to our listeners. Hope you are benefiting from us from the podcasts. Look forward to the next one as well. Adion. Until next time, keep your mind clear, your heart open, and your spirit grounded. Be well. Be still.

  3. The discussion connects external rhythms (like seasons) to internal ones (like the breath), illustrating how inhalation, retention, exhalation, and suspension mirror spring, summer, fall, and winter.
  4. Listeners are encouraged to use the darker, introspective winter season for self-reflection, planning, and germinating personal growth seeds for the new year, rather than succumbing to inertia or seasonal depression.
  5. Practical yogic techniques, such as observing nostril dominance (linked to solar and lunar energies) and performing Sun Salutations in winter, are shared to help individuals align their inner rhythms with the macro universe.

Summary:

FAQs

Mental Hygiene is a podcast that brings ancient yogic wisdom into modern life, offering practical tools to cleanse mental clutter, restore inner stillness, and reconnect with your true self.

In yogic tradition, the four parts of the breath correspond to the seasons: inhalation is spring, retention inside is summer, exhalation is fall, and suspension outside is winter, reflecting the natural cycles of the universe.

The four Yugas are cyclical ages in the universe: Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga, each with progressively shorter durations, representing different spiritual seasons.

Winter is a time for introspection and germination—reflect on the past year, plan for the future, and set intentions that resonate with your higher self, rather than following external pressures.

The left nostril relates to moon energy and the right to solar energy; they switch every 60-75 minutes, affecting body chemistry and brain hemispheres, and yogis use techniques to balance them with planetary rhythms.

Recognize that seasons are temporary and cyclic; use the darker months for inner reflection and planning, and practice tolerance as taught in yogic texts to navigate seasonal changes mindfully.
