[email protected]. This is from Django Holt. He says, "I recently inherited a lever action 30/30 from a family friend that passed away. I haven't shot it yet, but it's a beautiful gun. However, I'm not totally sure what to use it for a deer and elk hunt in Oregon. And most of the shooting I do is much longer than the accurate range of a 30/30. Any suggestions on practical uses for this gun would love to hear the crew's thoughts." Seth didn't even accept this invite to trivia until I sent out this male bag question. And then he accepted the invite because Seth is so passionate about this subject. What should Django do with that 30/30 he inherited? Well, he should do a lot of timber sneaking with that thing. Get in the timber, get real close to him, be quiet, still hunt, and then shoot stuff real close. Brody, another 30/30 owner, any advice for Django? Use it to break out of that long-range shooting mode and practice sneaking in on stuff. Like dudes killing with bows, there's no reason you can't sneak into a hundred yards and shoot one with a 30/30. Okay. So if tomorrow you inherited Brody's 30/30, what would you do with it? Put a bail scope on it. Well, I actually don't-- yeah, bipod scope, add some rails. I actually, I don't think I've owned a 30/30, I did for a while, my absolute favorite rifle was a 45/70 lever action. I sold that because I just was like, I don't frequently shoot things under a hundred yards. And then I was going out lying hunting and I thought, my God, I don't have anything to shoot like a cat out of a tree with. So I drove all over Missoula looking for used deals on lever actions because it seemed like the perfect tool for that job. What'd you find? Well, I wasn't flush with cash at the time and I couldn't find a good deal so I ended up shooting that cat with a 20 gauge slug gun. But had I had a 30/30 lever action, like you never know, that's the larger point of the story is you never know when you might have an opportunity where it's just the perfect tool for the job. So it's just, it's also a classic rifle, I mean. Missoula doesn't seem like 30/30 country, that's now where you walk into a sporting and store and find a good selection of 30/30s. I don't know. I feel like everybody's dad or grandpa has had a 30/30 lever action at some point, right? And a lot of those guns make the circuit. But yeah, now that I think about it on the forums, I haven't seen a lot of moving, strange times. Any other advice for Django? No, I love his name. Cool name. Good name. And if you just think he wants a practical use for it. Practical use. Jesse is counting blastin' because it's also just a fun gun to shoot. Set up some Coke cans and pick up your trash. Pick up your trash, of course. What would be real practical is if you can't find a use for it, go sell it Django. Like, if I died and I gave my gun to Seth and Seth turned around and sold it, I wouldn't be the least bit offended because I'd be dead.
