In this podcast interview, Isaac Prince shares his journey from feeling socially awkward and purposeless as a teenager to founding a movement for intentional living. He credits his father's guidance to focus on personal development—through books, mentors, and faith—as key to finding purpose, freedom, and opportunity. Isaac highlights that fulfillment stems from aligning one's identity with beliefs and actions, not just achievements, and stresses the importance of learning from role models who embody the life you desire. His faith helped rebuild his self-worth by understanding God's character and seeing himself through that lens. To overcome limiting beliefs, like feeling "not good enough," he created a vision of his potential future self, which provided motivation and confidence. The conversation underscores themes of self-growth, mentorship, and intentionality as foundations for a meaningful life.
Hello everybody. Welcome back to the Believing and Achieving podcast. Today I'm sitting down with Isaac Prince, who made waves as a teen by policing at the International Career Development Conference in Business Marketing, which I didn't even know that Isaac. That's amazing. I'm super excited to go over that in this podcast, but his journey didn't stop there. He's now the founder of 20s by Design, which is a movement for intentional living. From self-doubt to faith, leadership, and designing life with purpose, Isaac's story will inspire everyone listening. So I'm super excited to hop into what we are going to be chatting about. We are going to be mainly focusing on how to cultivate fulfillment in your 20s. So you ready to dive in? Yeah, well, cool. So I kind of want to start in the earlier stages of your life, taking you back to your younger years, while we're some of the internal struggles young Isaac was facing and most people didn't see. I moved three high schools growing up and I honestly, I think I was just a lot in my head, meeting people. I kind of felt like I was like awkward a little bit and kind of, I don't know, I've always felt like I quite fit in with everyone else, especially moving schools that much. And especially my junior year, I didn't hang out with any friends, my whole junior year, I just went with my cousins. I was so blessed to have incredible cousins in my life, but it really forced me to one just like get out of my comfort zone and start meeting people going at people, but it also really fueled just like a desire to better myself. I remember one time I was younger, I was walking up the stairs and I remember this, I was probably like 12, let's say, I were walking up the stairs and just feeling like every step, I was just like my shoulders were slowed, breath was low. I think what I remember, the thing overwhelmed about was just not knowing what my life's purpose is, like, have you ever felt like what's my life's purpose? I want to know what this is. I went to talk to my dad and I asked him, like, dad, I feel like I want to know my purpose is so then I can be focused on it and I can feel like important and said, well, you're pretty young, he's like, you don't have to know and figure all that out right now. What you should start doing is you should start personally developing yourself. You should start intentionally feeding your mind, growing now so that when the opportunity comes, you're ready for it. And I just kept doing that. I kept like washing like the motivational YouTube videos and stuff. And then like that turned into thought leaders and that turned to reading books. I read John Maxwell's books. My dad's really into that space as well, so I followed him around and that really cool people through him. And I found a huge sense of purpose in personally developing myself because it gave me opportunity to freedom. And as well as like diving more into my faith, which gave me the same thing. So purpose, freedom, opportunity. So I think the lack of being maybe socially accepted or feeling kind of a little bit of an outcast. There's so many things I relate to I was taking note as you were talking and I was just sitting here thinking how similar our stories are because when I got to my lowest point is when I talked to my dad. And I was like, what do I do? What do I do with my life? It was the exact feeling and what I like to define that as is an existential crisis, right? You have these questions of it's not just what is my purpose. Is it, are you getting echo? I'm not getting echo. It did cut out there for a second though. I just barely started getting echo. Let's see. Okay, there we go. Anyway, and let's see if it comes back. I think it's fine. Okay. I was just going to say that it's very similar to your story of I didn't know who I was. I didn't know what I wanted with my life. And I saw all these people around me specifically my dad who was so motivated. He had so many amazing books, Tony Robbins, all these big names. At the time he bought the book when it was like Anthony Robbins, you know, he's like an OG. And so anyways, I just saw him killing it in his business. And I saw like all my family was grown up. Everyone has moved out. And so I just kind of felt like this outcast in my in my family because I was the youngest. I didn't really have anyone around me. So there's just so many friends I felt like I related to you on and and totally coming from the idea of feeling that lack of connection with other people like you felt like you were separate. And that is always like a really weird feeling. Like you look into a group and you're kind of like, well, where do I, where do I mix in with these people, right? And you don't really know. So I totally relate to that. And that's also what kind of drove me to want to become better and to motivate myself to learn. One thing I really loved that you said was how you said development is opportunity and freedom. And I've never looked at it that way. But it really is like the more you learn and the more skills that you acquire, the more freedom you have in your life and the more autonomy you have, which I think is the greatest thing that we can get is autonomy. Real quick for that. By Jim Rohn. Jim Rohn is so good at synthesizing. He is such a good communicator because he's so simple. He has a funny voice, but he's really simple. One of the things he says is you can have more than you've got because you can become more than you are. And that kind of sums how I felt about personal development. Yeah, it's becoming more than you are. And when you become more than you are, you open doors to new relationships to new opportunities and a higher quality of life. Yeah, absolutely. Well, and I think you just you just value think so much more because there's so much sacrifice required in that development. Like if you want to be patient, you have to go through experiences that require patients, which that's my least favorite one. I'm like, I hate patients. Speaking of Jim Rohn, do you have the treasury of quotes book? I need the treasury quotes because I bet I treasure that. Oh, man. Is there like your tip like a big quote book of all of his quotes? It's really small actually, but there's different topics and it's like personal development, finance, health, and they just they're just quotes from Jim Rohn. He's such a good wordsmith. I love that. Yeah. It's so cool. It's actually one of my fitness coaching clients gave it to me. I said it to you in the mail. I was like, you're amazing. Anyways, but yeah, I'd love to hop into more of these questions. When did you first realize that fulfillment wasn't about achievement, but about aligning who you were with your beliefs, your thoughts, and your actions? That's a really good question. I am so incredibly blessed to have my dad as an incredible role model, both my mom and my dad are just I could. And I know this is so cliche. Every kid's going to say the other parents, but I really couldn't have asked for better role models. And especially with my dad, as far as like the whole like success and achievement thing goes, he just showed me, I just remember about him and about being raised by him. And it's literally just how he loved me. It's just how he loved me, how he showed up for me, how they both showed up for me and both love for me and cared for me. Your actions speak so loud, I can't hear what you say, right? And that's from the book. How do I know friends and influence people? So the answer to your question is I started to realize what true fulfillment meant by watching people who live lives of true fulfillment. And I was so blessed to have people. My parents super close to me that lived those lives. And they just taught me well. They taught me to be grateful. They taught me to love and care for others. He taught me to believe in God. And that's the humongous reason I am who I am today's probably the biggest people had any impact my life on my parents 100%. Yeah, for sure. Well, you know, I think we all need role models. I think we all need people that we can look to who are living the way we want and seek mentorship from them. Because I think one of the biggest downfalls is you seek mentorship from people who are not living the way that you want, right? You ask them questions on, oh, how should I be working? How should I be? You know, all these different things, but if they don't have the life that you want, then I think sometimes that advice may be not the best to direct your life. What do you think about that? There's a great quote on that that's basically don't take advice from people who aren't where you want to be or haven't and where you want to go. Don't take advice from people who don't have what you have or you don't have what you want to have. You know that I might as always says if you wouldn't trade places with them in that area, why are you taking advice from them? Like you can respect them in different areas, but if you don't respect them in the area of advice they're sharing with you. Then it's probably not that valuable. Right. That's why I always got it. Yeah, no, and I think it's I think it's good that people want to provide value at times in your life. Like there's people who may be giving advice on something that they're not, you know, a subject matter experts. But it's always appreciated when they care enough to give you that advice, but I think it's nice to look at it from like a bird's eye view and be like, okay, well, where do I want to be in my life? And are they there? Like your site? Yes. So awesome. I'm going into some of these belief systems. I'd love to break these down. How did your faith start to play a role in rebuilding your sense of self worth and direction? These are great questions. My faith has always been centered. I feel like on the character of God in Jesus Christ. And what I mean by that is it's so hard to have faith in someone you don't know. So the more I learned about the attributes of God and the attributes of Jesus Christ, meaning like, I don't know, I just literally just sometimes think about like if they were here, like what kind of presence would they have? Like what if you were in their presence, would you just feel this love? Would you feel listened to? Would you feel cared for? Would you feel protected? Would you feel befriended? And the more I sought a relationship with God, the more he sought the relationship with me. And I just have such a testimony of the character of God and Heavenly Father, the character of Jesus Christ. So that that's what makes it personal. It's the same difference between just knowing someone's a person, but like knowing what kind of a person they are, knowing what kind of a God God is and what kind of a Savior, you know, Jesus Christ is knowing their character. I think is essential to like have a true connection with them. So yeah, through all the different experiences of my life, knowing those that main thing, what is the character of Christ and the character of God that's helped me develop the most personal connection with them. And that in turn helped me to see who I was in their eyes, like seeing myself as God saw me and then in turn helping to see other people as God sees them as well. Yeah, yeah, you know, I think for me with finding God in Jesus in my life where I see the most is what I'm struggling, which is the opposite of what you would think. But it's this like I was just saying where you're in these scenarios, if you want to grow, if you want to develop or these these experiences in your life where you're going to be demanded patience, perseverance, endurance, whatever you are trying to obtain as an attribute or characteristic. You're going to ask that of you and you don't have the strength most times to get through it on your own. And so I think for me, what has helped me is is thinking of God's strength. Like when I'm in those challenging moments, I'm literally like repeating like God's strength, God's strength. Like a little mantra in my head because otherwise, I'll break like I'm not I'm not strong enough. He calls the weak people for a reason, right? Like, and I think every single day, that's like a daily process for me. Like it's I don't see myself as someone who's like this super strong person. But yeah, it's like my eyes, I'm like watching things happen that are really hard in front of me because I'm not doing it alone. I think that I think that that's that's been an experience for me as well. Just over on top topic of God, one thing I've realized is we can hear God so much clear when we practice pause in our lives. Like I remember one time I was on my mission and I was sweeping the kitchen. This is such a weird little story, but I was sweeping the kitchen on pday or whatever. And I was listening to something some kind of church talk and I had this thought to stop listening to it basically just to turn it off. And I was like, well, you know, it's like good things like it's bad thing to listen to but I turned it off and I just started sweeping the floor. And I just had this feeling of peace come into my heart, not like anything crazy, but just this really sincere piece come into my heart. And I think that I was basically prompted to just kind of cut up the noise for a minute because God needed me to feel that we need more times in our lives of practice pause and be still. And it's so incredible what you can be revealed to when you're just willing to listen. Yeah, no, the silence, you know, yeah, no, and it's funny because like as you know, like health and fitness is one of my passions. I don't listen to music pretty much at all while I'm at the gym. Like I don't listen. Oh, really? I love silence. And that's my time to just like my thoughts. I haven't listened to music at the gym. Or at least that I'm not even that hardcore. I mean, sometimes I don't know that I don't listen to it. That's because I forget my headphones, but that's incredible. But it's because it's because I think it's a passion. Like if you if you were like a passionate thing that you really loved, I think you can do it without needing like the extra stimulation to do it. Right. Like you probably don't need an energy drink to give like a a talk or to like present your your seminars with people. Like you don't need that. You you get the energy from the environment. And so when it comes to like what you're saying with pausing slowing down. I listen to music when I'm like running or doing cardio, but like if I'm lifting, it's completely silent like the whole. You don't love running enough to love running enough to listen, not music. Well, I know I won't, but like if I'm doing like, for example, I do cardio before and after my lifts, like sometimes I'll throw it in there. If I'm like doing a sprint or something, but for the most part, like when I'm running, I'm actually like reading, I'm reading content and I'm like practicing. So when I did when I ran my marathon, I was listening to conference talks the whole time and I was taking notes. So I didn't. Running and just like taking taking notes. Yeah, just taking notes. I just use my hand and swipe like. That's actually a skill. Yeah, to your point, no, to your point, slowing down, being intentional, being present is what allows me to hear Christ. And like that's why I think weekly temple attendance is so important. And like why, you know, also for me, I also like hate having distractions like while I'm having a meal. Like I love to look, I love to be outside and especially like observing the mountains, like no matter what time of the year, like being in nature while I'm having a meal during the day helps me to slow down when I've got so much on my plate. And so I feel like taking those times, if it's not at a meal, just like mindfulness, meditation, things that you can do to like really connect with yourself is super important. I love that. Yeah. When it comes to hearing Christ specifically, was there a belief you had about yourself that you eventually realized was holding you back? And how did you replace that belief? Well, yes, there's been multiple beliefs. It's so interesting. I think, let me say this, let me say this first, when you attempt to do something you've never done before, you're going into a space that's uncertain and your brain reacts to that by trying to keep you safe and basically trying to talk you out of it. I've basically only been doing new things and it's getting home for my mission. Just, you know, thing after thing, I think I've moved like five or six industries of like different sales stuff, just like trying to figure out like what I want to do, like what works for me. If I had a lot of just like trial and error, whenever you move into places uncertain, you get faced with yourself. You get faced with, do I actually believe myself? Like do I actually have faith that God's going to like help me figure this out? And it's not that you have the absence of the thoughts. It's just that you have the strength to overcome a huge belief I had that I think limited me was that I basically wasn't good enough to attract like awesome girls into my life. Like today, that was I think subconsciously a big insecurity had like all growing up. I remember it kind of came to a head last year, where I, I don't know, I must have just, it's so interesting. So we only change when there's enough pain to finally say I've had it. I'm sick of it. I'm done. And it was one of those moments where I, for some reason, I had so much pain. And either some kind of rejection I had, I can't exactly what the event was, but I had so much pain and feeling like I just was worthless basically. I felt like wow, like I, I'm not, it was more than just like I don't feel good enough for like attracting the girls I want to date was more than that it was like I don't feel good enough period. And I were just like sitting in the car, just like sobbing about it, which is so silly. But I was like sitting kind of sobbing about it. I was like I feel worthless. And that pain finally moved me to say I don't want to freaking live with this limiting belief anymore, which just drove me to overcome it with a lot of things. I think God placed people my life. He placed a lot of incredible resources in my life. Once I started asking the question of how to overcome it. The biggest thing though that's helped me overcome that limiting belief is realizing who I really am creating a compelling vision of my future self who Isaac Prince was born to become fills me with faith, hope and confidence that I am not who I am today. I was not born to be who I am today. I was born to be who I was my full potential. It is super motivating and inspiring. I stopped thinking these like negative thoughts. He's little, these little things. It just became something that was almost like not worthy of me. Kind of a long answer, but yeah, there's been a lot of beliefs I've had that have in the past hurt me. And I really, I don't know if I have a belief right now. We always have things we can work on, but I don't think I have like a crippling negative belief right now like I used to. I really don't. That's incredible. I'm just like just don't freaking pay attention to that crap anymore. Yeah, yeah, no, you're totally right. It takes the the overcoming of the sick and tired of feeling the way you did. That's actually how I like gotten to fitness was like I was so tired of feeling so mentally down lack of purpose, lack of fulfillment. And for me, like what I struggled with was I was an athlete all growing up and like I quit my sport to try music. And I was like you where you're like I'm jumping around trying to figure out where my purpose is at. And then I did music for a little while. And I was like I am not passionate about this. I do not belong with these people like I need to find what I love. And I just felt so lost. And part of finding I think who you are and like reclaiming that self confidence though is that evidence. It's it's stacking evidence that you are who you say you are it's stacking evidence that you do what you say you do. And so I think maybe even for your own journey, but I've noticed for mine is like the more consistency I have with stacking that evidence, the more momentum I create for the future self I'm going after. And so something I like to repeat to myself anytime I'm like, you know, I want to take a break or today's too stressful is consistency is what creates that momentum. So the more consistency you have the more ideas come to you to create that future self. And kind of is like where Christ will talk about in the scriptures like those who are laboring those who are putting in the work are the ones who are rewarded right. And so I think when you're consistent with taking action in a specific area, I think Christ rewards that that effort and you know he loves effort. That's where you can start to create that true vision because there's a lot of people I think you talk a lot about like say positive affirmations like don't think negatively about yourself. And for me, I'm like, that's cool, but that didn't work for me. Just be like look in the mirror and be like, yeah, you're you're a good person, you know, like you're strong like I didn't believe it right. I needed like actual evidence that was telling me, hey, you do the things that you say that you do like look at this example right here. Right. And so mentally like to rehearse that and to have that going through my head. And so I think part of it is yeah, just having having a direction you want to go and having the courage to step in that direction. And you need more confidence and like staying where you're at, even if it's like not the direction you want to go, you know, you always learn. You know a huge thing I've realized in this time my life, I am living right now and you are living right now the days, the good old days, like you right now are living the good old days in this moment. And the really difficult times, even in the really awkward times when you embarrass yourself, you're living in the good old days right now. One of my favorite things to remind myself to do is to appreciate this season of my life because life is about contrast. There's so like I've been traveling a ton for sales and events I've been doing. And it gives you an appreciation for how quick things are you don't really hate the cold because you enjoy it because you were just in the warm. You don't really hate being alone because you were just surrounded by people and you don't really be so you don't have social anxiety because you're just so happy to be around people because you were alone, just getting some context. I was out for two weeks on a sales bullet by myself and then I come back and I, you know, I get to be social again hanging out with people that contrast taught me so much that you got to appreciate whatever season you're in. You could be in the season right now where you feel there's so many different seasons like what season do you feel like you're in right now Kylie before you go into that that was like such a needed thing that I needed to hear like the contrast of different seasons because speaking of consistency like sometimes we have I know for me I have the expectation that like things have to be a certain way and I think when we're in different seasons things don't always work out the same way right like the same routine that once worked in this season may not work in this season. The schedules may change and so I really need to hear that but I was just going to say for me I think I just barely feel like I got through like a really tough time actually and like I'm so grateful because I actually was revealed in a scripture about how the Savior helps us to recognize patterns and how he puts he helps us to recognize patterns that help us to basically like get back on track or get to where we're trying to go. And so for me I feel like I'm in the season of like on the on the I don't know the mountain coming down of like a really like stressful and like overwhelming season and now I'm on the other side of it. And I just I think it's such a blessing to like have that hindsight now to be like like I can see now the patterns and the reasons why things weren't working out for me the way I wanted at that time. And so I think it's like you get clarity again from like the courage to act even if it's like such a painful decision or season of time how about you what do you feel like you're in for your season. So I'm in the season right now I feel like I'm in round one or chapter one in a way because I've never had a time my life where I haven't been looking forward to a mission or a recently returned home. This is the first time my life where I'm just living my life and I get really asked this is the question that you need to get really good at asking because you're not going to get the best answer the first time you ask it. This question has changed my life and you've got to get really really good at asking it over and over and over and over and this is the question what do I want what outcomes do I want like what results my life do I want. The clearer you get on what you want the clearer life moves to help you get that thing and in this season my life I'm starting small I am failing forward I am so incredibly blessed by incredible people in friends that got into my life but I am I know what I want and what I want is to be a river. I don't want to be a reservoir and I want to be someone who has been blessed and been transformed and had breakthroughs and it's just kind of piled it in like a reservoir right. I want to be a river I want to learn and grow but these breakthroughs and these transformations I've had I'm going to be a river with them and I'm going to spread them through to other people that need them and that's why I'm so freaking excited about what I'm doing it scares me but it fires me up because I know it's like what I'm supposed to do and I wow. So here's the thing my whole life I'm a very purpose oriented person I'm just not in it for the like the fluffy stuff I love having fun and I love meeting people and I I love having like small banter and whatever I don't need to have deep conversations at all times that's not what I'm saying. But I am always concerned with like the kind of the soul you know like what are we put here to do what was Isaac Prince put here to do and I freaking I was put here to add value to people in my generation like I was put here. To have the same struggles have the same falling on my face had the same experiences but I truly feel like for the first time my life like I'm doing something that's been more in line with my purpose than I've ever been in my life and like I sang it out loud it's crazy like I was just like I had like a moment I was like whoa like yeah like this is like the most aligned with who I am and what I feel like I've been put you to do. And I know that sounds like bro you're 21 like who your future self in 10 years is going to be his astronautically different than he were now and I I realized that but I've never felt more aligned and I've tried I've really tried you know and I I've this feels like the most aligned over a failed though. That's a testament to all the work you've been doing like all the self because you can grow way faster if you're willing to work if you're willing to actually learn and to actually apply the things you're learning because I think that's the difference is you know people will learn but they're not actually learning because they're not applying what they're hearing. And where you've tried several different career choices you've tried different paths that's a testament to the fact that you're actually applying what you're learning to be able to get those experiences that help you develop the character you're looking to build. And I think part of that character building is exactly what other people need and they need to know what experiences you had to go through in order to gain that character themselves. And so and so I think it's it's so cool that you're in that position right now to just becoming from a place of fulfillment and purpose and I know that's how I felt like with fitness. Like let me help you let me help you lose weight let me help you figure out your fitness routine. I just think about how much value this industry you know the industry you're you're in the industry. I'm in it adds more value arguably than anything else I can think of I don't think another you know I don't think working on your mind and developing yourself and developing your health and taking care of that I don't think there's more you can do that will add more quality to an individual's life. You know I think it's interesting that there's so many industries out there who make they make so much money they do so well financially but they're not even adding the sliver of that much quality to someone's life. And so I think it's super cool and I can't wait to see the amount of people you help with the work you're doing because I think you know it's really cool about what you do is and I think the podcast I'm doing here now is also in the same industry but what's really cool is you know you you talk about changing your state like Tony Robbins does. And how this can be more like an instant change like fitness is something that I can't tell you hey sorry you you you can't lose 30 pounds overnight right but like with with changing your mindset understanding that you can do that pretty much instantly. And I'd love to actually walk through the people listening how they can change our state do you have recommendations based on how someone could optimize their state each and every day and how they can have a more happy and fulfilled state. Do I was driving down to Arizona this past weekend for this huge young adult event my I had these two friends I was driving with. And we had a breakthrough in this seven hour drive driving down one of my friends told me he had never it had been months and months where he had just not felt like himself in this weekend because of the things I share with him he had a breakthrough he just he got into. Back into who he was he felt like he was more himself in even months there's and I'll kind of copy of Tony Robbins framework here but it's a simple as this most of us start by asking how do I change what's the strategy what's the how and we get stuck there we get stuck at the tyranny of how and this is why it's not because it's the wrong question it's because in the wrong order. So we start by asking how do we change wrong question to start with first you got to ask this question before you ask about the strategy the question before that is what is the story you've been telling yourself what is that mean what is a story a story could be. I try my best or I try I try super hard I can't say consistent that could be a story you tell yourself or story could be when people get to know the real me they don't love me or a story could be I'm not capable of real change or I'm not capable of. Having these kind of friends whatever the story is you've got to ask yourself what's the story I've been telling myself about this thing I'm trying to change but you don't even start with story before you go to story you actually have to start with the most important step this and story are 80% of change and it's your emotional physical psychological state human beings have limitless potential we're each get to a talents creativity and so much gifts but we can't unlock them if we're in the wrong state they're literally locked and held hostage think about. You know when you get home from school and your mom would be like how is your day good you could be a brilliant kid you could have had the coolest day you could have so many great insights to offer but if you're in the state and you know what I'm talking about that state where you're just sitting there like good. It's like the state of I don't want to talk right now right if you're in that state you're captive so you got to change your state how do you change your state in my experience it's really as simple as changing the way you move. I mean if I asked you you know what's up if I what if I had to said I'm gonna be a hundred dollars to describe someone in a terrible state where are they looking up or down down how are they breathing full of shallow where their shoulders back or forward you would describe them to a T we think we need to think our way in the new ways of being in reality we need to act and move our ways in the new ways of thinking. So to change state you got a freaking stop start moving you got to start moving with certainty you got to start moving with conviction and when you start moving and breathing like that and smiling I'm a huge proponent of smiling for me personally because it helps me be in a beautiful state helps me appreciate and love and be grateful but besides the way you move your body you got to focus what are you focusing on because what you focus on you feel if you focus on what's missing all the time and what you can't control and the past how are you ever going to be in a beautiful state. So do you focus more on what's missing or what you have do you focus more on what you can control what you can't control do you focus more on the past or in the future or in the present there's patterns to this so how do you move your body move your body in a way that's certain your body in a way that's exciting that's like what a champion how they would move and then focus focus on things that empower you there's always reasons that feel like if I said can you think of reasons right now Kylie to be pissed off and stressed could you think of reasons right now to fill those things. Yes. There's always going to be an abundance of reasons to be pissed off and stressed but guess what there's always an abundance of reasons to be empowered full of belief and full of faith and conviction so it's not positive thinking it's intelligence to then choose to be in a state where you're empowered your creative you are able to make decisive and well thought out decisions and you're also able to make great memories with people you love and not being your head and not be stressed out not be anxious that's way more intelligent so how do you move your body and what do you focus on get into state once you get into state you've got a freaking change your story change the story don't create your future with your past create your future with your future so don't think you're captive by how things have been if you could create things with the future you create things however you freaking wanted to be that's how you should create your story that's the real you. Then the last 20% of the strategy is just how we do it but most of it is state and then you got to break the story and the strategy is going to fall into place you're going to find the resources you're going to find the people you're going to find the best way from A to B your brain is wired to do that once you start asking it to but I will tell you I will tell you the most important thing to living an incredible life according to me is living in a beautiful state life is going to have tragedy life is going to have incredibly incredibly difficult and trying experiences and life is too freaking short to live in a bad state so we need to choose intentionally and reprogram ourselves and condition ourselves and to live in a beautiful state every day especially in most importantly what it's hard to do so yeah living in a beautiful state is my in my opinion the most important aspect of living a fulfilled life because it's really impossible to do anything else without it I mean if you think about it even your faith like how are you supposed to be more Christ like and truly like take upon yourself the character of Christ if you're going to low state and if you're constantly focusing on what's missing and you're constantly focusing on being anxious in your head full of doubt so living in a beautiful state and learning how to do that is a skill it's an actual skill and you can actually learn it and it will actually transform your life because 80% of change is state and story yeah no that that provided so much value the people listening and I know people were sitting there taking notes and and they were they were thinking through stories in their head of things that they're telling themselves today that they could change something on the topic of Tony Robbins did you listen to Alex Ramozi with him I did wow that taught me so much and to your point of living in a beautiful state something that really stood out to me from that podcast was leading from the heart and not from the mind okay keep going because I have something to say about that yeah so basically the way this this works for me is I think about my responses if I'm leading from the mind I'm thinking about the next thing that needs to be good done if I'm leading from the mind I'm thinking about how I need to control my schedule if I'm leading from the mind I'm worried about meetings I'm worried about all I got to get this down I got to get this it's overwhelming to live in your mind but if you live in your heart your heart wants to connect your heart wants to make people feel loved your heart wants to make people feel like you care about them and so I've been totally like and I and I don't even feel like my responses were bad previously but I've just been really intentionally thinking about how would like from the heart how would I want this person to feel after speaking with me how would I want this moment to feel rather than thinking about my meeting that I have to be on in five minutes why would I rather why would I not rather just connect for three minutes of my time and just love that person make them feel cared and seen and I think so I think the biggest thing I've I've been thinking about with this is just the way I want other people to feel from talking with me and what is a natural response from my heart rather than from my mind so that you want to love in that interview it's so helpful to name your different parts of your identity yeah gives you the freedom to adjust notice what Tony Robbins did he says because here's a thing using your head in a lot of aspects is extremely beneficial Alex has gotten so much success so much wealth so much prestige so much influence because of how he thinks right but is that the right state or identity to be in when you're trying to be you know create create like a really jamming loving connection with your wife is that the kind of state and minds that you want to be an identity want to be in when you're trying to really create a million dollar moment I love what he did when he said think of a name for this version of Alex who's really methodical wickedly smart a genius in uses his head for everything leads to this head right and it was an appolic Alex yes yes an appolic Alex and then or what was that analytical Alex that was one in the head analyze and then an appolic Alex was the one who can laugh who can make a joke who can smile who's a little more playful and light and I've done that with myself when I was on a Tony Robbins event he asks us well we were recreating our identity and he asks us were two words you like to describe your new identity the two words I chose that I really really felt in my heart you have to have the word that just has emotional meaning to you right has to like have some emotional growth to it and the two words were bold and playful bold because like I said life is so short and you can leave life right now Marcus really says let that determine what you do and say and think so you got a freaking go for it you got to be urgent you'll be focused you got you got a smile while there's time to smile you got to love and connect and appreciate while there's still time to and being bold for me is being urgent it's being dead serious it's being intense it's being focused but my bold can also kind of be in their head a little bit so I need a playful side and my playful side is the side of me that learns to just appreciate the season I'm in playful side of me is what laughs at myself playful side of me is the side of me that I can connect with people really well with so when I'm going to a social gathering I intentionally step into my playful state when I'm going to work I step into my bold state and there's more than just two you can do many more but for me those those help me a ton and help my friends a ton too think about your identity not just as one fixed thing but think about as multiple aspects your identity and see their pros and see where they're they're more useful and less useful and learn when to use them correctly yeah no I liked that a lot I think I think also too though you know Michael has kind of been to intertwine the both of them because I think the best leaders are the ones who aren't acting all stressed all who aren't acting reacting to the things that are coming their way right like if someone were to if a leader was pulled aside by one of their employees as like him having a really hard day can I chat for a second you had a meeting in five minutes urgent mind is going to be like no sorry I got to get to this meeting but if you leave from the heart you're like oh yeah let's chat for a second you know all I'll tell them I'll get to that meeting in just a minute I might be a few minutes late but let me connect with you I just think leading from the heart can help you to come from a place of the impact you want to make like you said we're here so short we're we're not here that long what what's the point of living in a way that makes you feel like you don't have time for people and so I think even when we think of Jesus like my brother talks us all the time but you will never find Jesus in a hurry even in urgent situations there is people he could have healed there's people that he maybe missed healing that because he wasn't in a rush I really like that yeah he's never in a hurry I really like that and so I think about like because I'm the same way like I have clearly like I can't I can't hide that I'm like you know a little bit on origin and and immediate and whatever you want to call it but but I think there's such a beauty it's like molding the two like if you can if you can create that that that's all what was that you know what that's called what's that what I call it is it's your emotional home yeah it's where you get back to when stressful things happen where do you get back to when awesome things happen where do you get back to it goes back to where are you most comfortable what's your like most comfortable like emotional home the people that are overwhelmed emotionally that's their emotional home basically most of the time no matter what's going on they're going to find a way to find reasons to be overwhelmed yeah the people that like the class clown he's just going to find some way to get back to this emotional home of laughing at things making making light the person who is depressed or full of like melancholy they're going to find a way to have reasons to get them back to that state that were comfortable what is your emotional home yeah for me again like this is where I feel like the breakthrough was at least one of the breakthroughs of watching that Alex or Melzie in telegram and interview was Alex or Melzie's home is in a very painful suffering place yeah so it doesn't freaking matter what he's done because he gets back to this home where he's been comfortable in condition and almost hypnotized right we all do that so I've re-h hypnotized myself to a state an emotional home that's actually helpful and that to me is I smile and it gives me things to smile about it's it's just an appreciation and a gratitude for the uniqueness of what I'm experiencing painful or not painful hard or not hard cold or or hot and I also love getting back to emotional home of laughter laughter like when I was knocking doors there were some people that you were going to say I'm 80 bucks and get them faster internet speeds and they don't do it and you just want to slap them and just be like what are you doing and I remember getting frustrated and sometimes under my breath saying choice words that I shouldn't say and how did I change my state in my mind I pictured like a movie this scene this was the scene I created it was me like opening the door to start the day knocking saying all right we're going to have a great day knocking today and all the scenes that proceeded that were just these jump cuts of these people I talked to that were just being so weird like you know what do they say jump here jump there and then it would just kind of show my reactions like oh and I laughed at it it was funny so now I'm in a fun I'm in a state of laughter and I'm in a much higher state so what's your emotional home what are you getting back to how are you finding reasons to feel those same emotions your most comfortable feeling you got to break out of that and you got to be in the emotions that serve you and that serve those are aren't you best yeah well and I think I think to your point like I think every emotion serves us you know in some way like pain helps us to feel joy like it's you know we were we were studying and I like can't go in my name without referencing the gospel we were studying and come follow me last I think is last week but it was just talking about how you know the fall of at it with Adam and Eve and it's like you know Adam like chose to take to go with his wife to make that choice but the beauty of it was like never so great was there pain as was their joy like it's you know they were able to experience both sides of the spectrum and if they hadn't made that choice together they wouldn't have been able to you know make a family and be able to have all these beautiful things that came from the negative and so I think that you know something that's also helped me with with my state and with with having a bird's eye view is life is 50/50 so you can look at like if you're having a bad day and you're like man this sucks I'm never going to get out of this you literally have like without a doubt a good day coming like there's no question about that because you've had maybe a rough day like life is 50/50 if you had a good day it doesn't mean you'd be like dwelling like oh man like bad days are coming my way but I think it's just nice to have that perspective of like this isn't the end I'm not the only one experiencing this other people have experiences same things and it's just part of the season you know and so I think that can help too but while you were saying about living in a state day to day that taking circumstances that are deemed as negative and turning them positive I think that that's something we all have the power to do and I think for me like exercise has helped me so much with like negative feelings negative emotions like for me it's like I literally visualize it as like a vortex it's like here's irritability here's anger here's like all these things and it's like repositions and then I'm like come out of the gym and I'm like oh like I can be so happy and upbeat and positive today because you know I was able to channel those negative feelings and so I think having a channel whether it's physically or mentally that you can do that is like a key for life a key for a fulfilled life and I love that you brought that up yeah that's that's been like I am not perfect at it but man I am a different person than I was six months ago like I'm a freaking different person and like the emotional home we have a lot better yeah I think having an emotional home of reframe like that's what I wrote down at your workshop that was one of the main things where it's like you could be having the war circumstances and you'll still find a way to be like well this is God's plan like he had you know some person I need to meet or like like that I dodged a bullet you know for me with dating I know that's been a lot of like there's been a lot of that we're like I'll have someone I'm like excited about it's gonna work out and then I'll and then I don't know it just goes to crap every time and I'm like well you know what I dodged a bullet like I'll reframe my mindset to like really be understanding that it's all gonna be okay yes and so I like that as well so I know we kind of been shy in here I want to get like maybe a couple more questions you've just been absolutely crushing this interview this is probably going to be like my most listened to podcast I'm not a kidding I get I don't know I love I just I get on these topics these are this is like my thing I'm passionate I'm so passionate about personal development and about helping people so and I can tell you have a huge heart for people and a huge heart to serve that fuels this podcast that fuels your social media so yeah it's been it's been awesome to talk with you oh yeah it's been great to talk with you I think it's important that you associate people who are passionate in what they do because man passion can help you learn a lot like conviction and what you're talking about that's the missing that's the missing key like everyone could start a podcast everyone could do fitness coaching everyone could do you know these seminars but everyone can't have conviction and passion in what that they do and I think that passion comes from like a calling from God like I really do I really think passion and the way that you feel with that passion is you moving closer to what God actually wants you to do real quick on that why do we have different interests yeah why can I just be interested in anything I want to be interested in exactly I can be curious and I can have some degree but there's just some things I just won't freaking be passionate about like I I'm not passionate about G.O.'s like yeah I think they're cool and like I guess you know whatever it's from colors but like I'm just not like oh my gosh dude let's go and find G.O.'s right yeah we're an example but you were given gifts of interest and I also believe that you were given dreams that were planted in your heart so that you don't play small and playing small is it doesn't mean you have to be famous or something that's not what like small is not big is not famous and well known and small is not the opposite I think small is beneath the potential that God put in your heart small is giving into fear for the dreams of courage and grace so you were freaking not put here to play small and those dreams and those passions and those things you're interested in what if those were given to you by God what if those were gifts and you plant them in your heart for a reason for a purpose to accomplish yeah and what I think about is how not acting on those things like okay this is what I meant my brain's like working through this thought so when you're in the matrix when you are working in nine to five you're in a job you don't like you're not doing the passion you're being programmed every day to think that that's normal to think that that yeah this is what everyone else does this is the way my life should be but the problem is is that when you step away from that and you actually start acting on your passions you'll be like oh this is so cool for one day you're like yeah this is so amazing and then you wake up the next day and you're like why did I write that book that that's horrible because you're back to programming and you're back to the comfort zone and so that's why like when I talk about environment like when you talk about environment it is everything I think people like and you don't have to have like best friends you don't have to have siblings even you could come from the worst circumstances we know this from seeing people who have become successful you can come from the worst circumstances and still have an amazing beautiful life and that's what's so beautiful like the podcast for me like that is the message I hope to tell people understand is like the environment what are you listening to every single day what's your mental diet that you are that you have in your life that is changing your perspective on what is normal because it's not normal not to act on the passions you've been given and so I think that that's for me it's it's a matter of we always have that like thermostat of comfort of where where things are normal where they should be and anytime we sit outside of that we always try to go back and so we have to raise that temperature by the environments that we we are in just kind of a tangent tangent there so kind of ending off here just last couple questions I know there's like so many we could have done but honestly we we smashed it on a couple really good things so I'm excited about that um if someone listening feels lost behind or unsure of their direction right now what is the first belief they need to examine hmm I think it's different for everyone but I would think identity I would think the biggest thing you've got to think about again you can't just go into I couldn't just say what's your identity what's the lee blue if you have about who you are or you're about your potential I got to get you into state first like you got to get into the right state before because you're you're you're just going to give me the same pattern you mean I don't know I just don't feel like you'll stay stuck but I would say you got to get into state and you got to maybe start asking yourself like what is the the top three limiting beliefs you have about yourself like why are you not in the life you want what are the big three beliefs you have of why you can't have that life why you can't have that relationship why you can't have that accomplishment why you can't feel this way about yourself what are the three top limiting beliefs you have I think that would be the question I'd ask because it's probably different for everyone but I think at the same time it all comes back to the same insecurities of wanting to be loved and a fear that we won't be loved or we won't be accepted that's what I would say I would say okay like let's get let's get you into state but what's figured out like what do you want and like what are the biggest limiting beliefs holding you back from that and then we can kind of go and dive and tackle those yeah I know that was a really good answer I think identity is essentially like kind of what I was talking about with the temperature like how you see yourself impacts everything perspective what you think you can achieve who you surround yourself with and so I think it's examining that and and even now like I'm not perfect I could probably still work on my identity even more like I think that that's what's so beautiful about self-development is it's like you think you made it until you meet someone new and or else you listen to some podcast and you're like they're living that way okay I need to change a lot of the things I'm doing you know and you know can I say there's something I didn't mean interrupt no go ahead you're good you will never okay so personal development cannot there's a point in your life because I think a lot of people start and I started probably out of a place of lack yeah you will not see your potential until you switch from a place of lack to a place of love you are desired to be your best self can't come from a belief that you're not enough that you're not good enough that you need more that you need to become more like that's that can get you started but it can't keep going yeah you need to have the because for me for example like it's the it's like what Tony Robbins says you have the science of achievement and the art of fulfillment and personal elements kind of a mix of both because you can personally help yourself make more money become more valuable at the marketplace but you can be miserable and hate your life and fail at the art of it of fulfillment and for me I kind of use personal development into a lot of different capacities like personal moment faith personal moment and relationship but you won't reach the pinnacle if you don't master both if you don't master the science of achievement and the art of fulfillment and I think fulfillment never comes out of a place of lack at the end of the day ever yeah the film that comes out of a place of ultimate abundance ultimate love ultimate gratitude ultimate spirit of giving of wanting to do what's best for others at our highest and our best as humans that's where we come from and it's not bad to use other motives but at the highest and best we come from a place of love and wanting to give and wanting to serve and wanting to add value yeah there's two things I want to touch on that you rub that up I think a big distinction when you are on the journey is self-evaluation rather than self-judgment if you evaluate something your mind is in the data and logical perspective but if you're judging something it's in the critical and and rude kind of mindset right and so I think when we're coming from our own weaknesses what we can improve on if we come from evaluation we are so much more prone to actually want to change than judging ourselves right because judgment just creates shame and that shame spiral is what keeps people stuck and it keeps people identifying with that same negative identity and so I think evaluating is really really important over judgment that was such a good answer and I think like I said it's just it's a journey that doesn't intend that's what's so beautiful you know I think at one point you do read all the books you read all the information but we forget and that's where the reminders are needed and so anyways okay last question and this is like the best one to end on what does it fulfill life in your 20s actually look like to now and how would you encourage someone to start moving toward it today you brought it up or I think you brought up the answer earlier but I think ending off here would be good the answer is to number one live in a beautiful state be anxiously engaged in a good cause you need to find something that is good to get freaking excited about it doesn't have to be this incredible life's purpose it can be just whatever in this season you need to contribute to others around you and you need to have fun you need to freaking have fun because man it's gonna be short like go on the dates like love the awkward moments because they're gonna be such a great thing to look back on and you can look back on right now right have fun with your friends have fun creating beautiful million dollar moments in laugh and and have joy and being so engaged in a good cause like what that's what I feel like I my goal is right now is being a beautiful state have tons of fun be freaking engaged so engage in a good cause and do many things to serve and add value and bill of the people the answer I just remember what I was saying before as well I think what helps us to step into that like amazing state and to be able to serve at our highest level and this is what I've seen at least with me is delayed gratification I think that putting off what you want to help others and to serve others makes your desires go away they diminish and it doesn't mean it doesn't mean you still get the joy and the pleasure of like of the things you love to do right like you still get to do that but it's so much more enjoyable after you've already served and you put in the work to help other people and so I feel like that's been a huge shift for me that's helped me in business to grow a lot is trying to apply that wherever possible like you know stacking little rewards for myself that I can delay to help serve other people first and for me it's it's created this like like insane amount of joy like I'm like this is so much fun I don't even want that thing anymore I don't want the reward I want to keep going here like it makes me more focused and and more excited about the work that I'm doing here anyway thank you so much for coming on that was seriously incredible and I can't wait to get this out you have any last closing thoughts little life by design by design and then attend Isaac's event what's the next
