You're listening to the T and Life podcast episode 38. (soft music) Hello my friend, how are you today? I hope that you're doing amazing. I hope that your week has been going great. Today is the last day of May. I do not understand what is going on right now. The last day of May, 2023, where are you going? Please just slow down, like slow down. If you like the older I get, the faster life goes. Things, time, responsibilities are just always around. And I'm just like, please, just one time, just slow down. And I always remember when I was younger, I just wanted time to speed up. I just wanted to be an adult so bad. And not as I'm adulting, I think it's a scam. Be a kid, if you're listening to this, and you're still with your parents, you're still in your teens, maybe you're still in high school. Just stay there. Enjoy that embrace every single second of it because on the other side, yes. There's amazing things. There's joy, certain freedoms. And you get a lot of independence. But there's certain things that I do miss about just the security of youth. And I just want to say, enjoy that. Don't rush because life goes way too quickly now to a point where I have no idea what's happening. And we do know that time is a social construct. And I just feel like I realize it more and more every single day because where is the time going? Yeah, enjoy that. I've been really good. And I say that because I've been in the season of struggle and the struggle has been like finding clarity and looking for clarity for the next steps for life. I am currently kind of deciding whether or not I should kind of stay where I'm working with I should move on between Montana and I. What is the next move for us or goals? So it's been just the time of clarity, praying, answers. Also, I've been really thinking about whether or not the podcast is still something that I should be doing. And not to say I don't want to do it, I love doing it. But the podcast started from a place of I needed to heal. I needed to take around myself. I needed to process processing emotions, processing life. Like that was the whole point. The first episode of the podcast, it's why processing life is so important and understanding and just really sitting in it. And then I've been in that space for a while for the last year or so and has led me to open the doors for me to get my life coaching certification, which I really like. And then just opening me up to learning more and my personal growth journey literally took off really tremendously a year ago because of this podcast. So I'm just in a space of clarity and seeing the podcast has served its purpose is a time to maybe pivot with it or maybe let it go. It's just that season of trying to find those answers. And with that, I've come up with some few episodes for you guys in the next few weeks and they're just so good. These I've been just on my heart for so long that I've been just like praying about just living in and asking questions and I wanted to share. And this is how to be a creator and why is it important for you to be a creator specifically in this day and age where consuming is so key. Consumption is everything, everyone in their mom, everyone wants to consume. There's literally a fly on the top of my water bottle and I really just want to smack it but that's going to make it really big noise. In the world where everyone is a consumer but yet everyone seems to be a creator, we need to find our space in that because we are meant to create. Everything around us except for nature came from the human mind and God created us to create because it says in Genesis 3 that we are created in the image of God and God is a creator, he's the creator and one of my life lines, taglines, motto, something that God has placed in my heart to be saying to myself is I need to reflect the creator, reflect that. We were made to create and the human brain is so intelligent. There's so many ideas up there. There's so many things because we kept your information. We see the world and we process it and there's so much information that we get overloaded analysis paralysis information overload but as a creator we really need to find our space. We need to find that zone of genius that like flow to create. I've come up with four ways that I've been using to really come into the space of creating to be really in that zone of creation, that flow and creating is so important. You have to be able to create whether it's creating a safe space for yourself or it's creating new ideas, it's creating a new product for your business, whatever you need to do to create and a lot of the times we don't see ourselves as creator and I'm not talking about just content creator. When you say creator, a lot of us immediately go to content, I'm talking about a creator in your life. Are you creating the life that you want? Is the life that you have right now, a life that you've created in terms of your reflecting God, the creator? And that's a really big thing to remember is that we are meant to create. And if you're not creating my friend, you're not really living out that really deepest part of your life and I 1,000% believe that creating is one of the ways we can really connect with who we are. So here are the five steps that I take to really be in that creation mode. And the first one is shutting out the noise. And this one comes out as a no-da, but you cannot create, you cannot be in that space if you're listening to every other noise, you're listening to everything else. And it's shutting out all noise, shutting out podcasts, TikTok, music, books, any information that is outside of yourself, shut it out. And this is one of the hardest things for me to do because I love podcasts. I literally have a podcast. You're listening to a podcast right now. I love them. I consume them so fast. I consume them on like 1.8 speed. And I'm just consuming, consuming, consuming all the time. But that's not creating. You're just consuming other people's thoughts and their creation. So shutting out all noise is so crucial. Take like an hour to shut out all noise. Maybe take a morning, maybe take a day. I've done it. I think the longest I've done it where I've haven't listened to a podcast, music, a book, and really anything else I read, anything. I think it was a week. And that was very hard. But I created just amazing ideas. I thought really great ideas that came from me. I didn't research anything. I didn't look anything up. I didn't go well, anything. I just let myself flow with no information coming in and how just me flowing. And I think this is a great space to start because you're starting on a blank canvas and you're filling it. And this is daunting because you want to validate your ideas. This is nothing to do with validating your ideas because they're yours. So sit in the stillness, the solitude, without any information coming in, you're the one creating the information. And we all think like, oh, we need to fact check and all this stuff, like all the stuff that's in the world came from a human brain. Like, all the stuff that's around us is just like just nothing. It's not even like real. What if we're all living in someone else's reality and it's all just an illusion to all of it? What's what I think about? I think we overly get stuck in like, oh my God, it has to be right. It has to be perfect. It's like, it's your idea. It doesn't have to be no one else has to agree with it except for yourself. So shout out the noise and get in the space and just think, let that flow, let the ideas flow. That's how you first start to create is you want to shout out everything else. The second one is solitude, which I already touched on. You have to be able to be in solitude and you need time to think whether it's some morning before bed, a mini retreat. I'm trying to plan a little mini retreat for myself outside of my house. Whether it's just getting an Airbnb for one day, maybe a hotel room, obviously it's summertime and those prices are, I live in a tourist city. Like I live in a beach town. So all the prices are like three times what they are. So that retreat is either happening in another city or it's not happening for a minute. But I've wanted the idea to just take my journal. Obviously my phone for security and just go and just write and just flow and just think and just all the ideas. No research and nothing just me and the amazing intelligence that God has given me. The solitude is a second step, get that. Now maybe you get up a little bit early and we get a five minutes early just to get that solitude with yourself. Maybe you go on a walk. So plan that solitude time because that's when you're gonna really get the most because you're quiet. Everything else is quiet, the world is quiet. Number three is write the thoughts, ideas, down. You cannot just let them sit in your mind because you get distracted a lot. A lot of us don't have that great of an attention span. We can't stay focused on one thing and I've noticed this in myself so much. I have such a short attention span, very, very short and part of the reason why I listen to podcasts so quickly because I just need to get it and I'm working on that. I'm working on just meditating, staying on just one thought and the best way to do this is writing it down, let it. And I 100% say writing it on paper is way better than typing it, just way better. Obviously if you have a spur of the moment you have an idea and your phone you got it, go ahead and write it down. You don't want to forget it. But there's something about a pen in your hand scribbling on paper, there's something so magical about it, I would say, and it just connects your brain and go read your science or science about that. The connection between writing something down and memorizing it and then writing those ideas down, just write a list, write anything down. If you want to pursue an idea, you want to create something whether it's creating like a product, like I said, whether it's creating a space, whether it's creating a vision, maybe you want to start a business, maybe you know you want to travel and you've come up with all these ideas, now you get to start really dreaming about those. Just dreaming about how you can make those come true. And I think part of creating is dreaming and we don't talk about this enough to dream about how that thing will be. Dream about it, see it, envision it because your brain cannot tell the difference between what is in front of you right now and what is imagined. So that is so awesome because we're able to really see the thing before it comes to life. We're able to really see it and manifest it and have it in our heads and then we get to be moving towards it. So daydream about it, dream about that thing, dream about those ideas and this creation. I remember dreaming about this podcast when I had it just taking the time to just let all my ideas flow the episodes idea, the names just dreaming about it and here it is, it's a reality, a reality that I'm coming to a place where I've just, I've done what I needed with it and maybe moving on with it. So dream, dream, dream. And then once you've had that list of ideas, refine it, don't, you're not cutting any ideas out, you just want to say what we want to focus on now. What do I want to really create? What is the one thing that I want to take from this list and create and go and create it? You want to create a product, you have ideas, maybe you're starting clothing line, you've had that idea and now you pick the colors, the swatches, the name, like you started to just flow and create. Becoming a creator is really about allowing yourself to be in that space and also having the confidence to say, you know what, this idea is mine and I want to do it. And obviously when, if it's your idea, if it's a business, starting a business is part numbers and part mental. So if you can really be in the mental space of a creator and having that tenacity and that resilience, the numbers will come, the numbers are numbers, it's just zeros and ones. But the part that's really hard is being in the space of a creator and knowing that I'm a creator and then on top of that, becoming an entrepreneur if you want to start a business. But if you're like a mom and you're creating that, the space for your family, you're creating an environment that is safe, that is you, that is too aesthetic, whatever that is, you get to create that, you get to write those things down, you get to dream about that. Because dreams, there's no small, big, better, more important dreams, dreams are dreams because they're yours. And being a creator takes you dreaming. So those are the five steps to becoming a creator. My friend, you are a creator. If nobody has told you that, you are a creator and shout just content creator, it's creating the life that you want to go out there, reflect God, reflect the creator. And again, don't forget to show yourself grace because you're going through this process. Be compassionate with yourself. Be compassionately honest with yourself. And I'll see you in the next one, my friend. Bye. Thank you for listening. If you found value in today's episode, please go ahead and review and rate the show. Share this with a friend. And please don't forget to show yourself some grace today. I'll see you in the next one, my friend.
