EP 331: Your Frame Creates Your Future: Rewiring Belief for Power, Not Powerlessness

In this talk, Jeff Busky addresses the high rates of unhappiness and burnout among dentists, emphasizing that joy is our natural default setting. He argues that transformation requires smashing one's current identity and frame—the laws, rules, stories, and beliefs that shape our worldview. Jeff introduces a framework: facts enter our mind, and our attitude toward them (positive or negative) determines whether we develop beliefs of faith or doubt. Faith leads to anticipation and power, while doubt leads to anxiety and powerlessness. He distinguishes fear (caution over real present danger) from anxiety (caution over imagined future danger), advising not to waste today's energy on tomorrow's problems. Jeff then stresses the importance of adopting an "I am the one" identity—not cockiness but confidence with certainty—to attract patients and lead them effectively. He expands this to being a marketer who invites conversations (especially with family) and a closer who moves people from indecision to clear yes or no answers. Mastering these shifts, he asserts, can change one's life, practice, and relationships by unlocking productivity, profitability, and a life that matters.

[MUSIC] Hey everybody, it's your doc Jeff Busky, creator and founder of limitless dentists where we've cracked the code, the game of finding the system, the unlocking power, productivity, and profitability all will building practices and lives that matter. Welcome to jumpstart with Jeff. Today's topic is this. Last thing that I want you to consider here is where you add inside of your happiness and your joy. One of the reasons statistics said that over half, dent of the dentists are unhappy inside of our profession. That's really, really sad. Another statistic said that 95% of high level functioning executives report experience in burnout. And I consider the way in which we operate and what we do, we're filenable operating executives inside of our practices. 95% experience burnout. I know that I did, I know that I have, and I was burning everything else out around me too. So where you add inside of your happiness and where you add inside of your joy, I believe joy is our default setting setting in which we came into this world with. So just get honest with yourself because the truth will set you free. Here's what I also think. We'll write this out here where the truth is God is. And where the truth is, then transformation can exist. Remember I had talked about for me in order to go from the prisoner to a producer to being free, old parts of me had to die off old identities had to die off. And this is where you have to smash your current frame and smash your current identity. And this is exactly what we do inside of our ignite mastermind. We spend time deconstructing and reconstructing your identity utilizing the limitless method. And so I want you to think about something. This is, I learned this from a guy named Myron Golden, which is, I'm going to draw this out and it will absolutely blow you mind. It will absolutely blow you mind because if we talk about this from facts equal truth, now watch this. And we just drew out on here, we have to get present with our current frame and our current reality, which is basically that frame is made up of our laws, rules, stories and beliefs, the way in which we see the world. So it's our world view and our self view, the way in which we see ourselves, the way in which we see the world, the way in which we operate. So we've got this frame. And so let's start to look at it like this. I'm going to draw this out. The guys are on Instagram are missing out on my amazing stick figure drawings here. So this is you here, this stick figure. And here is our current frame of our facts up here. So I want you to think of it from this perspective. I just drew out stick person. I've got box with facts here. This is our current frame and our current reality. And I want you to think of it this way, your attitude, the way in which you see these facts, the way in which you operate. So we will talk about your stories, all of those things start to operate. The way in which you read things, the way in which you see things are the rules that you've been ingrained on how to look at things. See stories over time told over time again and again become beliefs. And this is how you operate. Now I want you to think of this. This is something that is so paramount that if you get this, it'll change all your life, but it'll change the way in which you communicate, which we're going to talk about even more depth later. So you're going to see the facts in one of two ways. We can see the facts in a positive manner or a negative manner. And this is going to the fact our attitude about the facts. So let's look at it like this when we look at it, this energy comes in and it focuses into our mind, the way in which we see and interpret and look at things. This is going to affect our attitude on the facts. And that's going into our mind. Inside of that, then we're going to have beliefs as I was mentioning over here. So we've got either positive or negative facts. I'm going to string all this together for you inside of here. They're entering your mind. So the way in which you view the facts is either you're viewing that as a positive or a negative. Then the belief this manufactured from there is going to be one of two beliefs. We're going to look at a belief with faith or doubt. So we've got positive negative facts. We've got faith for a belief or a doubt for a belief. And so the right attitude can shift your current facts. So check this out, right? I want you to look at it like this. We focus on the positive. We're going to manufacture this belief called faith, right? We focus on the negative. Then we're going to manufacture a belief called doubt. Faith and doubt are both beliefs. So when you're focused on faith, you're focused. Let's write this out on an outcome that you desire. You're getting this? Are you guys getting this so far? Give me thumbs up in the chat if you're getting this. So if you're focused on faith, then you're focused on an outcome that you desire. If you're focused on doubt, then you're focused on an outcome that you don't desire. So here's what I want you to see. Let's go back up to here and draw this because these beliefs, I'm going to draw this with a different color because these beliefs then travel down to here to the heart. So remember, we've got these thoughts of coming in from our current facts of how we're seeing our facts either positive or negative. That's entering our mindset and affecting our attitude. Depending upon how we see those facts, then that's going to impact how we have our beliefs, either faith or doubt. You guys follow me so far and then that's going to travel down into our heart. So when you have this negative outcome that we don't desire, let me get back down here, and you have this negative outcome right here that you don't desire, then this feeling inside of your heart is called anxiety. Zane Bayer here ever felt anxiety because anxiety is the theme of your dreams. Now, anxiety can also look very, very similar almost exactly like fear and it's really incredible. And so when you sit there and start to look at this, I want you guys to think about this because this is something, if you guys can start to get this, this will change your life. When you experience fear, you typically get like what, sweaty, you get sweaty palms, you can get sweat on your head, you can get shortness to your breath, your heart rate is going to speed up, you have this fear. That is fear. You can have that same experience with both fear and anxiety. Those symptoms there can both be the same. But let's draw this out. Fear, what is fear? Fear is simply is caution over a real and present danger. Got it? So fear is really a caution over a real and present danger. Yes, thank you. I said you would take that. I will consider that for sure. So now check this out. Anxiety is different. Anxiety is a caution over a future, imagine danger. That's different. So fear is caution over a real and present danger where anxiety is a caution over a future imagined danger. So where there's no real or present danger, then there can no fear. And you've basically taken and had anxiety mislabeled as fear. If you're writing things out, I want you to write this down because I'm going to write it out here for you. Don't waste today's energy worrying about tomorrow's problems. Period. And check this out. Do you know of anybody nobody worries about yesterday? The only worry about tomorrow. That's exactly what happens. So when you focus on the positive aspect that your belief in faith, it creates this feeling in the heart and that feeling is called what? It's called anticipation. It's the energy that I get when it's the outcome that I expect is desired to turn out. And it's actually the opposite of anxiety. So if I go all the way back up here and we see this here, how we've got the facts going in, enter the mindset. If, depending on how we see the facts, either we're going to have positive or negative interpretation of that, that's going to affect our attitude and then that's going to affect our beliefs. And so now we've got either faith or doubt happening as a belief. That travels down to our heart and then we're going to experience in the feeling. I'll draw this out in a different color. The feeling in my hands is going to deliver something different. So the feeling in my hands is going to be anticipation. Okay. And that's going to come from faith or it's going to show up as anxiety. Okay. Those are the feelings. And so when it gets to here, we're going to go all the way back down here. So we've either got this great feeling of anticipation. I'm excited about today. I'm excited about what's happening or we've got this anxiety. Those are the two feelings that are sitting in your heart. Those are what's sitting at the heart. Now, what happens as the production tool inside of the hands? How does that then come about? What's what's going on there? And so if we look at it like this, let's draw this out this way. So let's put it all together. We have our positive attitude about the facts. That is going to give a belief of faith. That's going to yield a feeling of anticipation. And that is going to be a function in your hands of power. So check that out. Positive aspect, facts, belief is faith, feeling of anticipation in your heart, functioning your hands is going to be power. When I saw this from this guy, my own goal, it turned on such a huge spark inside of my head because I was like, this is what we're doing. This is what we're doing inside of the limitless mindset. This is what we're doing inside of the limitless method. This is exactly what we teach inside of our program. Ignite. Now, let's back it off and let's look at this. The negative facts. Then we've got the belief is doubt. Then that creates the feeling of anxiety. And then the function in your hands, whether it manifests as powerlessness. This is incredibly powerful. When you can start to see and understand how this concept works and how you look at this, this is how we have to look at shifting our identity. I want you to think of it like this now. This little guy up here that we're saying is you, this stick figure. Now, I want you to think about like this. This is you. We'll give you some cool hair. And we're going to give you a little megaphone and your hands up here. Now, you are broadcasting a message to your patients. Now, listen to this. However, they're looking at the facts is going to absolutely impact how they move through hair with you. How they move through your process for your patient journey. They're going to either move forward or move through with faith or without just depending upon how you present all of your words matter significantly. So let's talk in some more detail about this identity piece of I am the one. I want you guys to all say that for yourself. I am the one. I am the one. Now, you might say, well, gosh, that makes me sound like I'm cocky. No, it's not cocky. It's confidence. It's confidence with certainty. Think about that. Let me ask you a question. If you did not feel like you were the one. Why would anybody on the planet want to come to you for dental care? You did not feel like you were the one. You just felt like, I'm just like every other dentist. I wouldn't want to go to you. But if you're like, man, I am the best absolute best at what I do. I am the one. You are going to attract that into your world. You have to have this identity, this I am identity. Because as we talked about inside that triangle of transformation, we have I am the one. And remember, up here, we've got the promise land. If you're going to lead your patients and your individuals, your clients to the promise land, you have to start off with the belief of I am the one. And they have to believe that you are the one to get them there. Otherwise, they're not going to move forward and care. You're going to be able to demonstrate that by the way in which you articulate, by the way in which you operate and the way that you've already built confidence on the past that is showing up in your present. So I want you to take this a little bit further now. And let's look at this inside of this place of I am the one. And I want to look at writing it out in a way in which you can now get a better understanding of here. Think of it from this point. I want you to think of it like this. What happens when you start to look at your identity and this I am statement of I am the one, it becomes so important. And matter of fact, the first two words of that statement become so so important to your identity. I want you to write these next ones out. I am a marketer. You might say Jeff, I'm not a marketer. I hire marketing companies. Well, I want you to think of it from this perspective. You have to be able to communicate a message into a conversation. That is what marketing is. It's inviting individuals into a conversation. You have advertising which interrupts the flow of thought and process and stops. Like advertisement is like somebody's scrolling and boom, they see your ad and they stop. That's an interruption in their process. The marketing is inviting them into a conversation where they read through it, listen to it, see it and say, oh, I like what this guy or girl has to say, I want more. Tell me more. They're engaging in the conversation and the message to communicate in the conversation. You have to be able to market. You have to be able to market yourself. Now, it's like you're practice, but inside of your life, you've got to be able to market yourself with your spouse. You've got to be able to market yourself with your kids. The kids have the biggest marketer on the plantains, the cell phone that's in their hands. They're constantly being bombarded by marketing every single day telling what they should like, what they shouldn't like, what they should wear, all of these thoughts and patterns and all. You see all this stuff that's happening in our society. It's crazy because they're constantly being bombarded by marketing. So if you're a parent, you've got to become an amazing marketer. If you like kids have a chance, it's imperative. Next, I want you to write the statement, I am a closer. Might say, Oh, Jeff, I feel like, I feel like that's, it makes me sound like I use car sales. No, that's one story. That's a story that I'd have to consider. It's a story. I have a closer means that you're getting people out of the land of maybe an into a yes or a no. Let me tell you one thing. If you take nothing else from this masterclass presentation today, other than the fact that you become a closer and you move out of the land of maybe an into the land of yes and no and getting somebody to a decision, that alone will change your life. That alone will change your life in the way in which you operate with your spouse, with your kids, with your team members, and with patients and clients. SKE, look forward to chatting with you. Until next time.
