Ep. 27 - The Finale

It just not going on, it's going to be a headache set. ♪ Baby, you know ♪ - That's an empty stomach. - Maybe? - Let's just put this back on. - Okay, let me tell you. - Yeah, so it's our last, it's our last one. - Yeah. - In case you didn't catch on our previous podcast, Victoria's going away for the summer and I might be going away in September and so we just. - We're not living together anymore. - Yeah, so we just think rather than like stretching it out and making it as slow as sad, it's best to end it on. - We're going out with a bang. - We're going out with a bang, bang, bang, into the room. - Yeah, I was thinking Nancy Sinatra, like. Bang, you're dropping it in, I don't know. - Bang. - Well, so it's moving on but for all good things. And I will be continuing to do witchcraft education and things of that nature. I am currently in tech for a show. So it's not 100%. I haven't made final creative decisions but you can go ahead and follow me over on Jen's kitchen table on Instagram. I'm thinking of either doing another podcast or a YouTube channel focusing primarily on witchcraft, spiritual development, et cetera, et cetera. The things you've come to, no one expect here, just continued somewhere else. I cast an all purpose male figure. He has probably like 15 to 20 lines throughout the whole show. But we do some pretty cool stuff. Yeah. But so as soon as my show is over, I'll be making final creative decisions. But the, I just had a hiccup, I wasn't gasping. But I have started an Instagram for it. So you can go ahead and follow that. And I'll keep you all updated if you're, if that suits your fancy. Yeah, but I would love, you know, I think one of the, so this is gonna be like a reflective kind of episode on the, I hate to say this 'cause I feel like every other white girl on this is. But like on the journey of this podcast, you know, everyone says that these days. - It was a real journey. But yeah, but I think one of my favorite parts about having this podcast has been getting to interact with you all. And whether it was-- - I thought you were gonna say it with me. I was like, oh, no. Well, I'm gonna talk to them first, and then I'll talk to you. (laughing) Has been getting to interact with you all. Whether that was like in the Instagram comments in our DMs, someone who reached out via email, which brought me so much joy. Wherever that was, you know, getting to connect with you all, answering your questions. You know, and the amount of times like you all educated us, like you brought some new perspective or new information to the table. That's been like one of my favorite parts about doing this podcast. (laughing) - So first of all, - This is like Frost Nixon, but like, Alan Sprouse. - All right, it's another movie. - It's like Richard Nixon. - Yeah, it's the journalist Frost in Reed Nixon. They made it into a movie, it's good. Jen's stirring her much. - I'm so, I knew you were, I was trying to listen, wait for a natural gap. I'll just do it nice and loud, so that's it's an ASMR. - I don't think I'll cut this out. I think I just wanted them to know what it was. - I'm not gonna care. - All right, so yeah, okay, so I've got a lot of questions. - Okay. - How would you describe from where you feel like you started with witchcraft to where you are now? - And if the answer's, no, no change, that's totally fine. I'm, but I am curious to see like, here's what I'll say as like a non-hit. - Oh my God, the oven. - Who's pizza? - I have to put my pizza in the oven. - Who's the fat? - I have to put. - Oh, you think, you think my, you think my macho's loud. Listen to your oven. - I have to fail, because I have to fail. - Oh, oh, I'm responsible for vamping. - Well, the reason I selected Jen's kitchen table is 'cause kitchen tables are where community is built and where magic happens, so that's why I picked the title. Okay, so anyone's wondering. - Okay, great. - How's that? - Good vamping. - So what did you learn, Vic? Where's your witch perspective then and now? Give it to me, straight or gay? We like, I'm like, I'm sorry. Okay. (laughs) Okay, I'm gonna stop, I'm sorry. - It's distracting. - I'm sorry. Okay, so I will give my non like answer, like a true politician. And I would say that I think this podcast in general has made me a less judgmental person because the other night I was in the movie theater. Oh, she doesn't listen. Okay, so I was in the movie theater with my friend. And she was looking over at this woman who had brought her baby to the movie. I was like, who brings a baby to a movie? - You were like Sabrina, the teenage mom. - Oh my, Sabrina, the teenage mom. - Oh my god. - And I was just like, and I looked at her and I said, you know what, that baby's not gonna remember the movie 'cause I thought it was like, oh, who would bring a baby to see a movie? (laughs) But she was more like, if that baby cries, I'm gonna be so upset. And I was just kind of like, imagine being that mom and like you're at home all day and you feel like bored out of your mind so like of course you wanna go out and like if the baby cries, like wow, how stressful for you that you're like in a movie theater and your baby's like, I just felt so much empathy for this woman, which is crazy because I do not like children. - I thought you were gonna say, I don't feel empathy. - But then I was like, maybe it's because I don't like children that I'm like, wow, sucks for that mom that she has to be with a baby. - So yeah, I feel like, you know, and there's been growth as a person. - How do you think you're, I like that you've become more open minded. I think that's really cool. - Yeah. - How would you say your view of witchcraft started? And how do you feel it's, where do you think your view of witchcraft is now? And what were like the biggest moments which influenced your final. - This is a very long question. - Your final doodly poop, where you ended up? - Okay, oh my God, okay. So I don't know if this answers all of the things who just asked me, but we had a moment off Mike, where we talked about like talk shows that made fun of aspects of witchcraft like mediums. And I just thought it was an interesting point that you made when you were like, well, you would never see even if a talk show host was an atheist, you would never see them drag Christianity the same way that they're dragging witchcraft. And I was like, you know what, you are correct. And so that really made me think. - I feel like, I'm not trying to get you to say like, I believe in witchcraft now, I'm really not. But I definitely, I am, do you think your views? I'm not saying like, do you believe? But I am like, do you believe in magic? That's, that's the last show in my song. - Oh really? - Or the last song in my show. - That's the last show in my song? - No, so I guess I'm not trying to like speak, like, do you believe in magic now? But I think I actually, I'm curious like, if you don't mind getting a little bit into like, the nitty gritty of like, not necessarily do you believe, but like what was your perspective on witchcraft before this started? And how, where, how do you feel that has evolved? And where do you think it has ended up? - When you said do you believe it made me think of this song? - Oh my god. - You were so deflecting this as it not changed at all. - I don't know if it's, I do believe, or like, maybe it's from like, Prince of E's. Do you believe? I don't know. Anyway. If you know what song that is, hit me up. There's one of the three notes I said. - Okay, here's the deal. So I will say when we first started this podcast, I was very much like, my only perspective on witchcraft at all would be like the actual like legit magic of like Harry Potter. So like waving your wand doing a spell or like, or other pop culture references. So I do think, maybe this isn't gonna answer your question again. I do think that it is interesting that you've like, educated me on an aspect of like, I mean, basically like a religion that I would have before a not considered a religion and be probably also like, have brushed off or like rolled my eyes at or something like that, you know what I mean? Which is why I'm saying now I feel like I've become a less judgmental person because of this. So ask me the question again another way and maybe I'll answer it this next time. - Are you serious, do I actually have to do that? - Maybe I'm just really bad at being interviewed. - What do you all know? - I guess you can, I think you did kind of answer it. - Yeah. - Where did you start with your like views on magic and where has it, or what you can't say where has it? - So you did answer it. - Good job. Thank you. - Two points for you. - Two points to Gryffindor. - So, okay, so here's another question. - I'm just kidding. - I'm a Hufflepuff. - I think I was gonna answer my own questions 'cause I'm not, I don't think do you have questions for me, not really? - No, I thought this was like a highlight. It's real. - Oh yeah. - I wish I realized this was a little bit of a relief. - Well, we're gonna go into like highlights. - I've got a whole plan for this. - Oh, that's okay. - I think I, I do, I'm so sorry, I have to pause. I just saw this receipt that Channis from the grocery market. - Am I allowed to start my matcha? - And it, no. - And it is Angel Herpasta, Angel Herpasta, Angel Herpasta, Angel Herpasta. Coconut, fruit, coconut, fruit. - What is this? - Okay. My favorite Angel Herpasta pre-made box stuff that I like to eat when I'm sad was two for $3 when it's usually like three bucks. - And I also got two. - So I bought two for. - And then my favorite outshine coconut bars that I eat. - Yeah, they're like popsicles. - Oh, oh, okay. - The ones, I don't think I can tell a story on the air, but the ones that you ate mine once. - Yeah. - Those are really good. And I was like, really 'cause I hated them and didn't get anything. - What? I may have been having a adult, tomorrow's 420, that's all I'm gonna say. - And I, whether or not it was 420 induced, I. - Jen, I have my popsicles. - I happen to eat Victoria's entire box. Like five outshine popsicles is crazy. And when I woke up the next morning, I didn't remember doing it. Not because of 420, but 'cause I have a bad memory. When I woke up the next morning, I was covered in these wrappers in my bed. And I was like, what happened? And then I realized I ate all the Victoria's popsicles. And I said, I do like the text message of shame. - Yeah. - And then it was like, I didn't like the text. We're so far off topic. Back on topic. - Okay, answer your own questions. I have to check out my pizza. - Okay. I really do feel like I am definitely still a new wish. And so I'm so, I was so, this podcast came at sort of like a perfect time where I was really looking to elevate my craft to the next level. And so having like a weekly thing related to a craft that I had to do, have to do like active research for has been like monumental and pushing me to get more into the craft and to learn more and to make sure that I'm getting like a wide variety of perspectives. And so I just wanted to say thank you to you. - To me? - I know, 'cause I know as much as like you're learning and everything like this podcast has been like so fulfilling and so helpful for me and my own personal craft development. So thanks for, thanks for helping me with that. - Yeah. - Yeah. All right, so I guess now more of a highlights real. What are your top three episodes and why? - Oh my God, well, do you have any answer for this? - Maybe. - Let me look back at all our and all our episodes. - Let me go to Spotify. - I don't think this is going to be an. - I think you should just leave it raw. - Yeah, all right, okay. I'm still in tubby love. Okay, let's please, oh my goodness. Okay, well, what's your answer? - What are your top three? - My top three. - Wait, is this like you have a top three or it's like one is like number one. I think it's like a proper top three. - Okay. - I mean, if you have a clear number one, they're all tied. - Yeah. Well, yeah, within reason. - Spotify is telling me rewind the sound of 2013. I'm like, that was not that long ago. - I mean, six years ago. - The sound of 2015. That was four years ago. - That's gonna be really fun for me. - I have songs in my playlists from that time. I don't need to rewind. - Okay, you're old, we're old. What can I say? - Okay, so what are your top? - I think, I think I like general, oh gosh. There's, you don't even know. - I did, yeah, I didn't, I don't. I'm gonna say, I think it's interesting like, the top ones that I remember the most are, the Witches Beginner's Kit guide. - Yeah, that's a good one. - I thought that was a good one. I really stand by my charm pouches and spell jars, but I'm not sure if that's just 'cause we just did it. Or if I really enjoyed it. I also loved our, I remember, I do wish, I almost wish we had time to do like a follow up on the tarot card one, but I remember that one as like being one of my favorite early episodes. - Well, you know you can talk all about it on your new platform. - I know, I know I can, I mean. - Yeah, but I think those are my, those are my like general favorites. I think a close fourth, which might, which as time goes on might bump out charm pouches and company might be all of the field trips, like lumped into one. - Excuse me, I think those were, I think I'm not crying, I just have to think those. I think those were really, I think those were really, I think those were always really cool. Yeah, what about you? - I think my, one of my favorites was definitely your spooky stories. - Oh, I kind of forgot about that. - I, I love hearing people tell stories that have happened to them because I'm still kind of like meh on whether or not I believe in them, but I just think I get like second hand spooked. - Ooh. - Which I prefer to first hand spooked. - Remember when you screamed? - Yes, because someone, something happened guys. And it was scary. Go back and listen. I really also liked, I really liked our movie review of Darby O'Gillamy. - Yeah, I almost said that one. - That was so fun. - Yeah, that was fun. - And then I also, I liked going, oh, oh no, no, no, no. I liked astrology. I think our podcast about astrology is what? I gave so many opinions about people that I knew that had the different astronomical signs. - Astronomical signs? (laughing) And I have to check out my pizza. - So I think my follow up question is what is it about these episodes that made them your standout episodes? I think you touched on like why astrology was one of the bad boys for you. But what else, what else did you feel like? - Did you answer your own question when you-- - I did. - When you gave me-- - I answered first. You made me answer first. Oh, I want to hear what stands out to you before I give my opinion. - Oh, okay. I just think they were episodes where I was like, particularly funny. (laughing) No, I mean, I said that I like the spooky stories 'cause I got secondhand spook. - Oh, I see. - And I like-- - So why Darby O'Gill? (laughing) That honestly, that was just a crazy movie start to finish. - Doesn't even explain why I am the way I am. - Honestly, like I can't believe the number of times I talk about movies on here, you haven't seen them and that you've watched that movie, like, wow. - I've also seen my library had this bootleg VHS of Cats, The Musical. And so I've seen that like-- - I don't know. - I used to watch VHS cats all the time in a child. - Yeah, it's really just what my nanny wanted to watch. I saw cats like two years ago with Quincy. I can't tell the story, nevermind. - Me neither can I. - Make Joria's cat story is similar to my outside bar story, and I mean, we'll leave that at that. - Yeah, I think my, as an aside, I think Darby O'Gill and like the neverending story are like the same cat. - Okay, this is not an aside now because that is incorrect. - Don't you think, but I think they're extremely similar in like-- - Okay, yeah, I guess. - I think they're extremely-- - I just feel whenever under these stories, like, so different. Does that dog that he's riding on die? - It's not a dog, it's a dragon. - Okay, it looks like a long, large dog. - But it's not talking about, it's like, there's these strange magical creatures which have kind of dark undertones, and it's a little too dark for a kid's movie, but it's also, there's something so charming and so-- - Okay, but is that the movie where his horse like gets stuck in the mud when he can't get it? - Is that a turtle thing? - How, I don't remember a lot of this. - Okay, well, maybe, this is not really it. Yeah, I think my favorite episodes, I like the tarot episode 'cause I think it's like one of our better very early episodes, and I really love tarot. And I think I remember, I fond memories of recording it 'cause it was at a time where I was like, extremely excited about tarot, and I wasn't, and it's not that I'm not excited anymore, but it's sort of, it's like the difference between like, dating someone for a couple of months, and like, I even dated someone for like a year, you know. It's the difference between like, 2017 Game of Thrones just ended, you're excited for it to come back in 2019, and it coming out in 2019. And that's that. - Okay. - Jen doesn't watch, obviously. She's not as excited as me. - Anyway, yeah, so I think that's why I like the tarot one. What else did I say? - Oh no. - You said that we just made the one about jars. - Charm Hodges and Spell jars. I loved that, I'm Charm Hodges and Spell jars, I think just bring me so much joy personally, and so recording that was like truly a pleasure. - I also, and that was like pre-podcast, one of the first things you've ever talked to me about where you're trying to pouch. - Really? - Oh, wow. Just give me a second. - Well. - Oh, are you looking up like what? - Wait, I can't remember what one's like. Oh, my beginner's switch kit. - Yes. - I felt really proud of that one, because I just feel really, I really feel for like, beginning witches. Like, I think we evolved in there. And so any time that I can sort of like, clear away the kind of pretension that surrounds it, I love to do that. And I love like kits. I think I really do enjoy making things. So like the kit thing brought me a lot of joy. I think the other thing, I also, I really enjoyed all of the field trips 'cause it was really cool to see you in like a new environment. And I frequent which doors so much, and I have such, I have sort of my interests established. So I think a lot of the times when I go to a witch door, I'm not looking as I'm looking at it in a very different way than someone who doesn't usually go there. And so you would always notice things that I sort of like, like when you brought up that like chicken foot, I'd never even notice that. - Oh, I was thinking of when I brought up the fact there were rice crispy in the summer. Well, I think like I noticed things subconsciously that when you say them, I'm like, "Oh, yes, that is there." But it was, it's really cool to see like, to have like a different perspective. I'll also say I do, I've, oh, I really did enjoy doing our different holiday, like Astara. - Those were cool. - Well, I really liked the Yule one. - Yeah. - I feel like the Yule one like combined with like our review of Sabrina was like, that was a good time. - Yeah, I think that was like really beneficial. I also, I do think like Sabrina, I didn't, I actually had a conversation about Sabrina earlier today. It wasn't, it's definitely not one of my favorites because I've got so, okay, which Sabrina? - Sabrina, the Shilling Adventures of. - Okay, yes, on that one. - But that like episode, because I remember we getting so heated about it. - Yeah, you were. - I'm super heated, but like, I don't think I wouldn't even bother to watch it. So I think even that's kind of cool. - Oh yeah, I'm in its own way. - I had a conversation with someone like two weeks ago at a bar about Sabrina and they were like, oh, I think it's, you know, it's not the best representation of which crash, and I was like, let me tell you, I know about that. - Are they single? - Maybe. I do know them, it wasn't like a stranger at a bar. - Well, it's a friend of a friend. Look it up. - So you can look it up or hook it up? - I said I'll hook it up. - Hook me up. - I don't, I'm unsure of how seriously you should take that. - Oh, I barely, I mean, I think he lives in New Jersey. - Oh, so that's the deal, break, or ladies. - Not to dis-new Jersey. - Yeah, if you live in New Jersey, I'm sorry. Peace out. - So closing thoughts from you, closing reflections, I feel like I've done a lot of times with reflections, me using, et cetera. - No, I know. I just really feel like, I'm just really proud, you know, like I'm proud that we said we're gonna do something and we did it and we've done like 25 plus episodes. It's like a ton of content and I feel really happy that people obviously enjoyed it. You know, if you're sad that we're stopping, like just know that we had the time of our life. I almost said we had the time of our lives in the street, based on what I was like, I can't get through that. So yeah, those are my thoughts. - Yeah. I feel very similarly. I feel like we've both learned a lot. I think it was good for us to spend this time together like as human beings too. I think, I'm also very proud of it. I feel like we've got, we've had such a great like audience and like listeners and I think we've had a lot of fun in the process, a lot of good times. And I think we've maintained like an intellectual integrity with it in addition to having like fun. - Look at us. - We're killing it, yeah. - So I feel really good about this.
