This documentary, by the way, is based on entirely anonymous sources backed by The Guardian, radical anti-Israel publication and anti-Western publication in Britain. The piece about it in the New York Times says this, quote, Israelis are deeply divided over how to apportion blame for the policy, military, and intelligence failures that preceded the attack and the war. But Israelis still largely view themselves as the victims of October 7th. Oh, do they view themselves that way? Do they view themselves as the victims of October 7th? Because they were the victims of October 7th. But this is where the legacy media are. This is why the reviews are going to be what the reviews are going to be. Okay, in the other big news, real big news of yesterday, the Federal Reserve decided to increase the interest rates yesterday by a quarter point. So you may recall that President Trump pushed extremely, extremely hard to get rid of Fed Chair Jerome Powell. He was pissed at Powell specifically because Powell would not lower the interest rates. He said that Powell was keeping those interest rates too high. The president wanted injections of liquidity into the economy. He said, we've got the inflation under control. Powell's like, I don't know that we got the inflation under control so much. And Trump was like, no, we need someone in there right now who's going to inject liquidity in the economy, make it easier for the dollars to flow. So he pushed very hard for Powell to go. Powell's term expired. And then he inserted Kevin Walsh. Well, now Kevin Walsh. So again, just want to point out now, Kevin Walsh was supposed to be the cat's paw of the president, right? When he was appointed, every Democrat suggested that Fed Chair Kevin Walsh would do exactly what Trump wanted him to do. Well, his first major decision was to increase the interest rates for the first time in three years. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates Wednesday for the first time in three years, a sharp reversal that began taking back cuts it made last year and implicitly undercut the White House's insistence that inflation isn't a concern. The increase was approved unanimously. It raises the benchmark federal funds rate range by a quarter point to between 3.75 and 4%. Again, the vast majority of officials say that there will be yet another rate hike before the end of the year. So the president, I would imagine, is going to be pissed off at this because when you increase the interest rates, you make it harder for people to take out loans. It has an impact on the stock market and all the rest. Why are we doing this? Well, I mean, the answer is pretty obvious. The U.S. inflation rate has not actually gone down. The annualized inflation rate is basically stuck in the mid threes at this point. As you can see from the chart, the inflation rate, like you want it to be about 2%, that is the goal for the Fed. It was at 3.3 in March, 3.8 in April, 4.2 in May, back down to 3.5 in June, 3.4 in July, and 3.4 in August on an annualized basis. So it's still more than 50% too high. So one reason is inflation remains high. The second is that treasury yields, have been spiking beyond belief. So a treasury yield is the difference between the price of a T-bill, the price of a bond, and the actual facial return you get on the bond. So when the price is dumb, the yield goes up. So the yield is really high, meaning nobody's kind of buying our bonds right now. So how do you drop inflation? Well, you suck money out of the economy by increasing interest rates, the overnight interest rates. It means that people take out less credit because they don't want to be charged that interest rate. And you also secondarily create the incentive for the treasury department to compete with the return to be got on stocks. So you're sort of pushing them to increase the interest rates on T-bills, on facial interest rates, on say three-month T-bills, to increase the marketability of those T-bills and drop the yields. This is why the treasury yields declined ahead of Warsh's decision. People were anticipating slowing in the economy. And the idea is move from the markets to the T-bills. That's what the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday. The 10-year yield retreated just below 5%. The NASDAQ and the S&P 500 traded higher with the Dow 500. flat. Brent crude futures were down more than 2% at $106. bucks a barrel. Here was Kevin Warsh defending his decision, saying that the action was consistent
Speaker 5with stable prices. Thanks so much, Elizabeth Schulze with ABC News. Big picture. I wonder if you could tell us just what will this move today actually do for American consumers? And have to ask, what is your message here to President Trump, who has repeatedly called
Speaker 6to cut interest rates, not raise them? I've got nothing for you on a discussion with the president, but I won't make that count as your question. On the American people, as I said in my prepared remarks, the least well-off are the ones who have the most to gain from stable prices. The decision we made today was the right decision to deliver on the remit that Congress gave us to ensure stable prices. Moreover, I would say, because of the underlying strength of the economy, because we are, as I mentioned, largely acting consistently, with full employment, we can be focused on stable prices. Some months ago, I said we will deliver stable prices. Today's action is consistent with that. So, again, the goal is to maintain
Speaker 1stability in prices. Good shot that the president is going to come after Kevin, be a little unhappy, shall we say, with Kevin Warsh. Now, the chances on Kalshi, as of yesterday, that Trump was going to go after Warsh, pretty high. They spiked from like the mid-30s all the way up to like the mid-60s that he would go after Warsh. Sometime before January 1st of 2026. The likely possibility of another Fed rate increase in October, that maintains. The Kalshi market suggests about a 52% chance that the Fed will maintain the rate and essentially the same chances that the Fed will hike by 25 basis points. Nobody thinks that the Fed is going to cut the interest rates. So, this gets to the continued inflation. So, why are we getting the inflation? Obviously, oil has something to do with it, of course. And that looks like it might get worse, not better in the short term, given the fact that there are Houthi attacks on Saudi pipelines and that they took over the Bab al-Mandab Strait, as we mentioned yesterday on the show. The Saudi military basically did nothing because they are incompetent. And then they begged America to help and America said no. And now they're busy begging the Israelis, who they claim are horrible monsters for Gaza, to help them fight off the Houthis, which is some irony since they have a defense pact with Pakistan and Turkey. It's not going very well. So, those Brent crude prices jumped to about $100. Now, if you take a look at the six-month view of Brent crude, again, you see that it's been spiking again since basically the beginning of August. It came down pretty substantially at the end of August. And since then, it's been an upward trajectory. So, obviously, that is having a bleed over effect into prices. The amount of Hormuz outbound oil flow from Iran, UAE, Saudi, Iraq, and Kuwait remains lower than it was before the war, pretty obviously. But again, this isn't all oil. That's definitely part of it, but it is not all oil. It's not all oil. It's not all oil. It's not all oil. It's also tariffs, of course, which have been spiking prices since basically they were implemented. And the biggest part of a systemic inflation problem is a massive structural deficit that requires us to continue taking out debt. Our structural deficit is extraordinarily high. If you take a look at the net interest that we are paying on the national debt, it is higher than it really has ever been. It is likely to continue to go up. This is going to be exacerbated by the fact that we have a bipartisan agreement in this country to keep spending money, to never stop spending money. This goes back to something the president did last week at his rally at the RNC in Dallas. Here he was talking about just dumping $5,000 checks on everybody. I mean, you know what creates inflation? Helicopter money.
Speaker 7If the Republicans win, if you win, we might not win. The reason the Democrats can't do that is because they don't do tariff. They don't take in money. All they know is poverty and how to ruin our country. But we're making a fortune. So if the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000. It will
Speaker 1be called the Trump dividend. We'll call it the Trump. Now, again, that's likely not going to happen. I pointed this out on CNN with Jake Tapper that, you know, the president likes to kind of throw out these big promises and then it kind of never gets filled in. But even the fact that we keep talking about spending like this is insane. Here's Mike Johnson saying kind of the same thing.
Speaker 8For that $5,000 check, doesn't the president need Congress to act? And are you going to carry out
Speaker 9his wishes? I would assume, yes, he'd need Congress to act. And that's a creative idea. He launched it at our convention and got a lot of people excited. Of course, devil's in the details. We have to figure all that out. But I think what he was articulating, you know, he was articulating that he was going to carry out his wishes. And I think that's a creative idea. And I think what he was articulating there, Jake, is that he's saying that if you want more money in your pocket, you have to keep Republicans in charge. Why? Because we're talking about the record of achievement. Look at what we've done since President Trump took over. Republicans have had control of the House and Senate. We get the largest working and middle class tax cut in U.S.
Speaker 1history. So, again, you know, if you continue to dump money out the back door, you're going to get inflation. If you keep talking about dumping money out the back door, then you are likely to get people who do not want to buy your T-bills. This is why Ron DeSantis went out and said, after the $5,000 checks, he said, if you're getting surplus revenue, you should cut people's tax and return it to the people. What I don't think you want to do is borrow another $1.5 trillion and then just try to flood that into the economy. That's going to lead to more inflation. That will lead to more debt and more inflation. Now, the biggest problem that we have, you know, again, we have a uniparty in this country. The uniparty is let's spend more money. Jessica Tarlov, who is of the left, she thinks that budgets are moral documents. I mean, I actually do not believe that I think typically there are argument about what you can afford and where you ought to allocate those resources. I think to a certain extent, that's true. I think you've decided to allocate all your money to abortion. That says something about your morality, obviously. But if the idea is that you are more moral, if your budget is bigger, we got a problem, right? Like Trumpism

The problem is always to be solved with the government. This is why, presumably, the solve forward by some on the, should I say, horseshoe right or the NatCon right. The basic idea was that the government was going to solve childlessness by just throwing money at the problem. That is not how you solve those sorts of problems. Instead, what you end up with doing if you spend this much money, huge national debt, actual inflation, and beyond that, enormous amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse. Fox News is reporting that taxpayer dollars intended to put roofs over the heads of LA's homeless allegedly paid instead for a $50,000 Tahiti vacation, a high-end nightclub, for restoring a vintage luxury vehicle and other personal expenses. Federal authorities said on Wednesday, as agents fanned out across the city in an early morning fraud crackdown. At the center of that crackdown is a person named Michael Young, 46, a founder of the Culver City based nonprofit Home at Last. He receives more than $118 million in public funds through government contracts, including more than $75 million from LA Homeless Services Authority. And then he misappropriated millions of dollars. You have to have higher productivity. The way that you get higher productivity is with AI. AI is a productivity increaser by leaps and bounds. Naturally, Congress wants to crack down on it because if you wish to succeed in politics, identify a grievance and then press it forward. And so if you can find something people are uncomfortable about and nervous about, the most important thing that you can do is to ram forward that nervousness blame somebody for it and try to stop the progress. Well, this is what Congress is doing. According to Axios, members of Congress and governors are under increasing pressure to regulate AI. More than two dozen of them who spoke with Axios said they don't use the technology or have rarely done so, which is awesome. I love the fact that we have people regulating AI who literally don't use computers. It's just great. Senator Maisie Hirono of Hawaii 78, one of the dumber members of Congress, she said when asked if she uses AI that she does not. She said that I don't think we in Congress have quite gotten our handle on what we should do and how much AI we should be regulating. Yeah, I don't think that you know any of that stuff. I don't think you know any of that stuff. I think the people taking advantage of that are the people who actually want to come in and write the rules. This is the Sam Altman, Dario Modis of the world. They would like to write their own rules for the road that protect them from liability, shield them from liability, prevent their competition from gaining on them. Now, they all have one thing in common, and that is that they are offshoots of the effective altruism movement. So what exactly is effective altruism? So effective altruism is the theory that basically industries are designed in order for you to make money no matter how you make money, and then you can use that money to do good things in the world. Speaker 13supposed to be. So effective altruism, firstly, is clearly altruism. That is, it's the idea that one of our goals should be to do good generally, to make the world a better place, not necessarily that that's the only thing we can do, that's too saintly, but that that should be an important part of our lives. And secondly, that whatever resources we are going to put towards this, whether it's money or time or skills or energy, we should try to get the best value out of that. So we should try to do the most good that we can, not just to say I'm doing some good, but saying, am I doing the most good that I could with the resources that I'm putting into trying to make the world a better place?
Speaker 1Now, one of the bigger voices in this world is Sam Bankman-Fried. You remember him. He's the scam artist, right? He's the crypto scam artist who is now in jail. Again, one of the main things of the effective altruists is that they get to manipulate human events because they know better than you how things should go. And in the end, they're being altruistic, right? It's their own kindness that leads them to need control. So here is Sam Bankman-Fried acknowledging that he would gamble on a 49% chance of destroying the earth in exchange for a 51% chance of creating a second world. Again, this is the bizarre rationality of the effect of altruists.
Speaker 14Let's say there's a game, 51%, you sort of double the earth out somewhere else, 49% it all disappears. Would you play that game? And would you keep on playing that double or nothing?
Speaker 15So with one caveat, so let me get the caveat first, just to be a party pooper, which is I'm assuming these are in non-interacting universes. Is that right? Because to the extent they're in the same universe, right? Then maybe duplicating doesn't actually double the value because maybe they would have colonized the other one anyway, eventually.
Speaker 14You're holding all that constant. So you're actually getting two earths, but you're risking a 49% chance of it all disappearing.
Speaker 15So, and again, I feel compelled to say like, caveats here of like, you know, how'd you really know that's what's happening? Blah, blah, blah, whatever. Put that aside. Take the hypothetical, the pure hypothetical. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1these weirdos kind of think. And some of us have ethics that are rooted in biblical values, and some of us have ethics that are rooted in a sort of utilitarian view of the world. Well, who do you think is going to be in charge of monitoring AI? So competition means that you'll have a variety of companies led by a variety of leaders who will all compete to see who can do the best job. And values alignment of the companies is part and parcel of the competitive nature of companies. So you'll have Grok, which has different priorities than ChatGPT, which has different priorities from Claude. But if you have a universalizing mechanism, like, for example, a group designed to oversee all of AI, and everyone there thinks the same way. I mean, let us call it, just for the sake of argument, we'll call it the Model Evaluation and Threat Research Group. That's the one that . Dario Amodi is counting on. Well, it turns out that the people who are behind it are kind of weird, as you might suspect. According to the New York Post, METR spun off from an effective altruism-aligned tech incubator called Alignment Research Center, which was headed by AI researcher Paul Cristiano. He was Dario Amodi's housemate, co-worker, and research collaborator in the 2010s when they were both at OpenAI. Since its founding, METR and its affiliates have received funding from EA Kingpins, like Democratic megadonor Dustin Moskowitz and Skype co-founder Jan Talin, both of whom are anthropic investors. One staffer on METR is Aya Kotra, who's married to Cristiano and has been a major organizer in the EA world. The founder and CEO of the group is Beth Barnes, who was hired by Cristiano and was involved in the EA movement at college. The chief scientist and some of the staffers all came from the same research cluster at the University of Oxford, a major feeder for effective altruism. So the New York Post calls these people an elite group of wokes. And that is not totally wrong. Quote, it's a group of globalists who believe in open borders, genderless pronouns, and promote effective altruism that believe all the world's problems can be solved with technology. And they are the ones who wish to write the regulations. Okay, so if I have to choose between deregulation and let these guys write the regulations, I think that that is a problem. Now, Jacob Coxon, who is the person, the supposed whistleblower from Anthropic, I say supposed because typically if somebody whistleblows against a company, you don't have the head of the company come out and praise the whistleblower. Jacob Coxon put out a statement. He said, I've been associating with rationalists for almost a decade. Their ideas were compelling, and you can't deny their foresight. The founders of every superintelligence effort are all bound up in the rationality sphere. He means EA. Sam Altman and Greg Brockman used to frequent the MIRI offices. The way I relate to rationalists is like the bizarre hypertrophied physiques on specialized athletes. In my opinion, they have weirdly specialized minds that make them uniquely able to be correct about topics removed from daily experience. These specialized minds also can make them off-putting to many people. I don't know if I'd consider myself a rationalist, but I certainly trust them to be correct about factual questions. Oh, good Lord. So these are the people that you want overseeing everything. Sounds awesome. Now, again, it is worth noting that people who tend to panic about everything are very panicked right now. The Time magazine cover on global warming looks a lot like their Time magazine cover on AI. You go back far enough, a couple of decades, they're putting out special issues that say, special report, global warming, be worried, be very worried. Here is their new issue on AI. How dangerous are you? The AI tipping point. Now, again, this feels all very oppy. It does feel as though there is a coordinated effort to scare the living daylights out of everyone with regard to AI so that all of the major voices can then control the outcome here. And if we are to allow, for regulatory capture, collusion, quasi-monopoly to take place, one of the big beneficiaries will undoubtedly be China, for sure. I mean, the AI safety donors are out there. They're paying people, religious NGOs particularly, to make statements on AI. According to Effort News, AI safety's largest donors, Dustin Moskovitz, again, he's one of the effective altruists, and the now convicted fraudster, Sam Pengman-Fried, are among Joe Biden's largest donors. But then they lost. With enough funding, they found a surprising solution, religious NGOs. Since 2025, AI safety donors put $3.3 million into churches, seminaries, faith networks, and religious affinity groups. It paid for pronouncements, declarations, red lines, and a Magna Carta of AI. In September 2025, a Vatican working group chaired by papal advisor Father Paolo Benanti handed Pope Leo XIV an appeal for a prohibition on superintelligence until there is a broad scientific consensus that it will be done safe and controllably, plus an IAEA-style inspectorate for AI labs. Again, this all feels as though it is being generated from somewhere. I do not think that somewhere is from actual altruism. Okay, now to the stupid controversy of the day.
