Ep. 2049 - WATCH: Abdul El-Sayed STRUGGLES Over Hasan Piker Controversy

The episode focuses on the political dynamics of the 2024 midterms, highlighting key Senate races including Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Arizona. The Michigan race is central, featuring progressive Democrat Abdul El Sayed, whose alignment with radical online figure Hassan Piker is being weaponized to destabilize his campaign. The interview critiques how the left’s digital influencers—like Piker—create controversy, forcing candidates into defensive positions, while undermining moderates. The political team sport model is illustrated through figures like Milo Yanapolis (deported after a pro-Trump to anti-Trump shift) and Jelly Roll, who publicly turned against Trump, showing how personal political shifts can disrupt party unity. Despite strong Democratic polling in some states, the episode warns that unchecked radicalism and base pressure could lead to electoral failure. The analysis underscores that the Republicans are in a precarious position, with declining polling and weak candidate discipline, especially in Ohio—a critical bellwether state. The show concludes with a call for accountability, urging candidates to avoid extreme rhetoric and to focus on voter concerns over online controversy. While Democrats are in a tight race for Senate control, the narrative suggests they are not yet at a crisis point, but the risk of a Republican bloodbath looms if candidates remain unguarded. Small business financing is briefly promoted through Cardiff, with a discount code offered, and listener engagement includes a marriage advice and a discussion on how women’s political views may be misunderstood.

This episode is brought to you by Cardiff, America's favorite small business lender with over 12 billion fundants since 2004, applying under three minutes for same day funding up to 500,000 at Cardiff.co/noles. I'm on the road in Europe working on a special secret project that I can't talk about just yet. I'll be back in a couple days in the studio. In the meantime, we've got lots of great content coming out, but I had to pipe in from the old world in order to talk about this story. Just briefly, before I hit the trail again, this involves the campaign trail. The story is that the struggling of Abdul El Sayed, the Senate candidate in Michigan, is working. It is clearly getting to him tying Hassan Piker to the mainstream left-wing candidates is working. It's not that hard to do. They've actually tied themselves to Hassan Piker, but here is Abdul El Sayed at his wits end being asked about Piker on the trail. I am not interested in a conversation about a social media person in California, and for folks who want to make this race about a social media person in California, let's not forget what actually matters in our politics, what our politics really are about. I don't ever want my comments to hurt anybody's feelings. It's important to me that people understand that I take seriously the pain of all communities in this state, but I don't want to have a conversation about a twitch streamer in California. It's just not a serious conversation. Why did you-? It's just not, it's just not, come on, it's not a serious cut. Why are you trying to ask me if there's a random twitch streamer? Well, because you've been campaigning with him. Not even just once. Look, in politics, if you show up to an event, there's a photo line, you're mingling, you take a picture, people find a picture of you with some total wacko. Okay, you know, that happens once at an event with hundreds or thousands of other people. That's one thing. Abdul-El-Sahed has campaigned with Hassan Piker multiple times, including recently. He shows up to events, he gets Hassan Piker to come on out to Michigan. This is not just a random twitch streamer in California. This guy is the day facto intellectual leader of the Democrats, of the American Left. I'm thrilled about that because I think that makes Democrats look bad. Let's go make it harder for them to win in November and in 2028. But I didn't make them do that. They did that. Okay, and Hassan Piker. Hassan Piker is so successfully allowing the Democrats to be struggled right now that that he is kind of being struggling, struggled himself. Here is Hassan Piker trying to walk back. You know all the comments. He said that Republican senators should be murdered, that the streets should run red and capitalist blood that America deserved 9/11. He's got a picture. Celebrity 9/11 behind him. Here's another one. They're trying we are trying to tie the Hassan Piker issue around the Democrat candidates. And in part it comes all the way down to the fact that he obviously hates America. So now his son Piker comes and he says, I do not hate America. It is completely ridiculous. It's laughable to say, guys like myself, guys like Abdul Al-Sahed, we hate America. I say I hate America all the time. A lot of mothers want to kill me over that tape. But at least I say with my chest, people will be like a son. You hate America. I'm like, yeah, I do. I do hate America. Love it. Cinema. Absolute cinema. This is how you know that this is a successful political operation because the son Piker's job is just to say the most provocative things and get the most views. Abdul Al-Sahed's job is to bring young voters out, which is in part why he's pallying around with his son Piker. But his job is to win elections. And you don't win elections by saying you hate America. So they're their interests diverge a little bit. This is true of the political media, especially the online media, and the elected political order generally. You've seen this happen on the right where the podcasts have fallen into total crazy sensationalism, whereas the Republican candidates are trying to actually pass laws and enact policies and win elections. A son Piker though now realizes that he has become such a liability to the left that he might lose his position as the intellectual thought leader, intellectual, you know, and to grade it on a curve, that he might lose his position, his status, his access being invited out to the campaign events. So now he's running away from his own statements in a way that he had made fun of when he originally made them. He said, "Look, you know, say what you want about me, but at least I'm not a wimp. At least I'm not a wimp." I say it with my chest. I say it with my chest. I'm not a weakling, okay? I hate America. And then five seconds later, he goes, "I never said I hate America." Why are you saying that? You know, you stream. There's film. Your job is to document all the crazy things you say. In any case, it's beautiful. And the struggling must continue. I want every Democrat on the campaign trail to be asked about Hassan Piker constantly. Make them twist. Make them squirm. Make Hassan Piker twist and squirm. Demoralize the radical base that watches a son Piker and freak out the remaining moderate voters among the Democrats who can vote Republican or just stay home in the midterms. Politics is a team sport. And unfortunately for the Democrats, they have brought a very nasty figure onto their team. There's a lot more I want to get to in politics as a team sport. Huge news. Milo Yanapolis, one of the OG MAGA influencers going back to 2016. Milo just got deported. It turns out Milo was an illegal alien. And I don't know if they had just been slow rolling his deportation process. He may have missed some court dates. I don't know the reporting is a little blurry on that. Maybe someone was protecting Milo and is no longer there. I don't know one knows. But he's out. It's like a shake spirit, Oscar Wildean ending to the Milo saga with regard to Trump in America. It's not the end of his story. He'll keep doing lots of sure pop up in any day now. But nevertheless, that's an amazing story because Milo had been so pro-Trump. Then he turned on Trump. He found himself as a man with that team. Jelly Roll. I'm trying to get a few points out here before I get dragged back out on the road to Europe before I'm back in studio in a couple days. But Jelly Roll, who became kind of a MAGA influencer. You know the guy with the tattoos and the he's a rapper, I guess. He's kind of right-wing. You saw him at right-wing events. Jelly Roll comes out and starts crying on Jimmy Kimmel's show. He's attacking Trump in all sorts of ways. I don't know if there's something in the air on Jimmy Kimmel's show that just makes you cry in front of cameras. Don't cry in front of cameras. It's not good. Don't do it. Regardless, he comes out there. He turns on Trump. Now you've got Florida politicians saying, "Hey, you're not welcome in Florida anymore. You're not welcome in the Panhandle. We don't like you. You're done." He's a man with that team. Politics, very much a team sport. And I want to bring to bear as much team pain as much struggling as possible for the other guys. Okay, so we'll get into that. We'll get into some of the stories and some of the races that are going on. But first, I'm Michael Knowles. And this is the Michael Knowles Show. Primary season is heating up. We are about to exit silly season. Now people are starting to pay attention to the races, but no one knows what to focus on. Even me, I work in politics professionally. I'm not paying attention to all these races. There's so many. It's been nice summer. But with the nomination, she's starting to see names pop up. Doolol Sayed, names like that, time to focus in because things are looking very, very bad for Republicans. So the five races to pay the closest attention to right now, at least, would be the Michigan Senate race. There you have Abdul El Sayed, a socialist Democrat. He alternately positions himself as a jihadi or a homosexual. But he's trying to appeal to the two parts of the Democrat base. Nevertheless, he is a progressive radical Democrat versus former Congressman Mike Rogers. Then the next race would be down in Georgia. Key race to look at that would be John Assoff, who is the Democrat incumbent versus Republican challenger Mike Collins. These are important states. You even think about the states that a Republican presidential nominee is going to look at your looking at states like Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin. Next one to pay attention to North Carolina Senate race. You've got former Democrat Governor Roy Cooper versus the former head of the Republican National Committee, Michael Wattley. And then you go to Ohio. That race is tighter than I feel comfortable for. That is between former Senator Shared Brown versus the appointed incumbent Senator John Husted. And then finally, the Arizona governor race. Now, do you remember, are you getting PTSD flashbacks to the Arizona governor race? That was Katie Hobbs in what was it? 2022? I guess it was. Yeah, 2022. She was running as Kerry Lake. Kerry Lake wouldn't give up the race. And so it was a very tight race. Hobbs just made it through. She's running against Republican Andy Biggs. Who's awesome? We love Andy Biggs. Going to be a very tough race. Okay. So let's go through these five. There's a lot more to say first. They're going to Cardiff.co/noles running a small business already means doing about 12 jobs at once. Securing funding should not become the 13th. I've had some small businesses. Am I still operating small businesses? Small business owners already have more than enough competing for their time. Securing the capital to grow should not require weeks of paperwork or become another job in itself. If you want bank rates without the bank delays, Cardiff can get your business approved in minutes, funded the very same day. You got to go to cardiff.co/noles, Canada view, LES, up to half a million dollars in same day funding. Cardiff's application takes less than five minutes, no impact on your personal credit. If approved, you can use the funding wherever your business needs it most, whether that means hiring, purchasing inventory, equipment, finally making that expansion possible. Your business starts to do well, then you realize you need money. And so you got to spend some money to keep making even more money. Banks try to lock out small businesses. Cardiff has the key big banks may not want to approve your business loans. Cardiff does. If you've been in business for at least a year and are pulling in $20,000 a month in revenue, apply now for up to half a million dollars in same day business funding at cardiff.co/noles, Canada view, LES. That is cardiff.co/noles, Canada view, LES. Real growth, fast funding, cardiff, borrow better. Going back up to the Michigan race. The reason that this is an open seat is because Gary Peters is not running again. Gary Peters is the Democrat. So this is good. This gives the Republicans at least an opportunity to flip a Democrat seat because the incumbent is not going to be there anymore. Now in terms of the Republican nominee, you got Mike Rogers, who lost a Senate seat to a list of slotkin last time, very unfortunately. The real clear politics polling average on this race currently has Abdul Al-Sayed up. This is really bad. I mean, this is a guy who just went on Fox News and said he supports mutilating kids dinging wings. He actually used that word. Not a good word you want to use if you're running for high office. And yet he still seems to be doing all right. He's got this base where he's going to win 80% of dearborn because dearborn is now a Muslim city. It's part of the caliphate. But he also is going to win white liberal women who are his main base. Right now he's up. I mean, it's a toss up, but he's up. So that worries me greatly. If Abdul Al-Sayed can shut up, if Abdul Al-Sayed can keep his trap shut and stop talking about kids dinging wings, I think he has a very good chance of winning that seat. If he can't shut up, if he is just forced, not even because of his own lack of discipline, but if he's forced because of his crazy base, the socialists and the Islamists and the LGBT lobby, if they force him into defend the end of the Republican challenger forces him into defending things like transiting the kids, then I think Rogers has a very good shot at it. But right now polling is tough. Now I should make a point about the polling here. August is traditionally the worst time for polling for the party at a power. It's really bad because you're at the very end of silly season, no one's paying attention. Republicans are feeling complacent in this case because we have a unified government. And so the polling is really, really bad. Those polls are going to tighten up. If the polls tighten up all of a sudden, you're going to see Rogers probably pull ahead a little bit, but this is too close for comfort. Let's go down to Georgia. Georgia is a lot easier. Microsoft's going to win. Unfortunately, I'm sorry to say it. I hope I'm proven wrong. I hope I have got my face, but he's almost certainly, certainly going to win. Also off is the imponent, sorry, the incumbent, the realtor polling average has him up seven and a half points right now over Mike Collins. It's going to happen. In fact, also off doesn't seem concerned about the Senate race at all. In fact, he's probably just looking to run for president already, but he's not doing a very good job of it because he launched his proto presidential campaign, accusing a random White House staffer of being a whore. So if you want, you remember that he goes, it's calling out this random White House staffer and insinuating based on nothing that she's having an affair with the president. So if he wants to position himself as the adult in the room, he's not one of these crazy socialists. He's not an Islamist or an LGBT activist. You know, he's the mature adult, the future Obama, that was not a good way to start. Let's go to unfortunately not a tighter race. This is another tough one in Carolina. You get former governor Roy Cooper there writing against Michael Watley, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee. Right now, the aggregate polls have Cooper up eight or nine points. The prediction markets right now have Cooper at a 90% plus chance of winning that race. Part of it is just name ID. The former governor is going to have a way better name recognition than the chairman of a party. Being the chairman of a party doesn't always do that much for you and they actually try to run for office. He was there for two terms. So the independence favor Cooper over Watley. So again, I like Mike Watley. I think he's a cool guy, but I don't I don't totally see it happening. Now, real, this is a real bell weather kind of race. This is in Ohio. You know, that old line they say, as goes Ohio, so goes the nation when it comes to presidential races. Well, in recent years, Ohio has become pretty solidly Republican. And yet, you have former senator shared around versus the now incumbent Republican Senator John Hustead, but he was appointed after Vance left the Senate to go be vice president. So, you know, it's an appointed race. He's now got to win the election on his own. Very, very tight race. According to the Rookler politics average, Brown is up. Shared Brown is up. There are other polls that have Hustead up. So you got New York Times, poll, quantists, poll, bowling group poll, bowling green poll, sorry, have the Republican up. But it should not be this tight. Ohio is an R plus 11 state now. Okay. At the presidential level, Ohio is solidly Republican and gave us our current vice president. But Shared Brown is very well liked and he still has working class appeal. So if we lose the Ohio race, we're in big trouble for the midterms. We are in big, big trouble. And we might be in trouble in 2028 because Ohio, it might be the case is solidly Republican when Trump is on the ballot. Don't forget Trump's been on the ballot now for the last 12 years. But when Trump's off the ballot, maybe not so much. Now, luckily, the presumptive nominee for 2028 is an Ohio man and was an Ohio Senator JD Vance. Nevertheless, though, so much of the post Trump question for the Republicans is, can we maintain the Trump coalition? After the Reagan coalition, Bush wasn't really able to hold it. And what's his name? Well, gosh, one of my absolute favorites, Bob Dole. Bob Dole. The first candidate I ever voted for at age six of Bob Dole, he wasn't able to maintain it. Bush, Jr. created his own coalition, but that working class coalition went away basically until Trump. Question is, can the working class coalition that we put together stick with the Republicans? And if they start turning to Shared Brown in this race, not looking good. There's a lot more to say. First, they'll go to take lean dot com promo code noles, Kenneth V. Elias. Every office has one person who discovers something that works for him and immediately becomes an unpaid spokesman for it. Usually it's parents talking about gadgets for their kids. Well, apparently we now have that guy for lean the daily wire. I'm not going to say his name, a daily wire editor has been taking lean the jar sitting on his desk. He takes it all the time. He tells everybody about it. And I'll tell you this, he's looking sexier than ever. Okay? He's got good reason to be. No, he's good. He looks fitter. He says he feels lighter on his feet, more energy throughout the day. In less than a month, he's already gone down to pant size. Perhaps we should let that man preach. Lean was developed by doctors at Brickass Nutrition specifically for people who have been frustrated trying to lose 10 pounds or more. It's studied ingredients are designed to support healthy blood sugar, fat metabolism and appetite and craving control. If you have been curious about the weight loss injections, but have no interest in giving yourself that weekly injection, lean is another option to consider alongside a healthy diet and exercise plan. Let's get started with 20% off plus free rush shipping. If that sounds like something you've been looking for, go to take lean.com, enter promo code NOLS, get an VLS, get 20% off plus free rush shipping that is take lean.com promo code NOLS. Then we get to the AZ governor race, yet Katie Hobbes versus the Republican Andy Biggs. Katie Hobbes is really smart. There was some question over whether or not she rigged the election in 2022. Kerry Lake certainly advanced that point. Katie Hobbes was the secretary of state and Arizona at that time. She barely won. I think that. What was that race? File numbers on that race. It was a, it was a Harris breath. But right now Hobbes is way up or RCP average has Hobbes up 11 and a half points and Hobbes did something really, really smart. She picked as her running mate, you know, the person who's going for a lieutenant governor. She picked a Republican former mayor. So Hobbes is not running as a radical. She's just following the Abigail Spanberger campaign model, which worked very well for in Virginia, which is you run like a moderate and then you can govern like a radical. But right now, this is brutal. The cook calculation here has moved this from a toss up to leans Democrat. It's brutal. Andy Biggs is great. Everyone should go out there and support him, you know, donate, go vote for him, canvas, bring petitions around. It's going to be a huge, huge uphill battle. So what does that mean for the Democrats broadly in November? The Democrats currently need four flips. Forget about that as representatives. We're not even talking about that right now. Let's just focus on the Senate for a second. The Democrats need four flips in order to take the Senate. If the Democrats lose Georgia or Michigan or New Hampshire, they need five flips. If you looked at this a month ago, if you looked at our great sponsor, Kelsey, the odds of flipping the Senate were pretty low for the Democrats. They have narrowed now to it being a toss up. It's $5149. That is not a good trend. So what we have to hope on, the thing that the Republicans can hold our hope on are a few things. One, that the Iran war is settled. I don't think that will happen before the midterms. 2 that prices come down. I don't think that will happen in part because there is some pressure from the Iran war But in part just because prices don't come down. Trump has brought the rate of inflation way way down But the actual prices don't come down. That's just not how the economy works. So That's going to hurt him. The only thing you can really hope for is That this actually is the lowest point of polling for Republicans that that historical trend holds true and that these candidates Are not disciplined because of their own individual behavior or because of their crazy base forcing them into Promoting unpopular issues like tracing the kids. That's what you have to hope for because All of the trends over the last two months are suggesting a blood bath for the Republicans in November I hope that is not the case. I'm not encouraging you to bet one way or the other, but the state of play today The state of play today is worse than was a month ago if the midterm elections were held today The Democrats would take it they almost certainly take the Senate So the the only question then becomes Have we reached peak Democrat? Is it all downhill from here as we start attacking the nominees? I wouldn't bet too much money on it. Okay, and that shipper note we have to move on There's a lot more to say first. They'll go to helix sleep.com/nolls can it have ULS Buying a mattress in a store is one of these stranger modern rituals You lie down beneath fluorescent lights for 30 seconds while a salesman looks at you in bed And then you somehow decide what you want to sleep on for the next 10 years Helix offers a much more civilized approach sweet little Alisa and I recently set up our new helix mattress in our guest room We have many multiples of helix mattresses in our home Helix delivered it right to our door free rush shipping anywhere in the US set up was super easy Then we lay down on it just to test it out I could have slept the whole night starting at 3 pm when I lay down on there It is really really good. This is written mailbag which I've neglected too much over the last I don't know six months or a year. First one up is from Charles M. Michael I have been dating my girlfriend for almost two years now We love each other more than anything and know we want to spend the rest of our lives together But every time I bring up marriage she tells me she feels we're too young and she'll live our lives more Get better footing financially get more fit get more fit what you're getting you know You're gonna wait to get married until you're old and fat You're not gonna get more fit than you are anyway. I'm sorry. I'm digressing. I should finish the question We are 25 and 26. How should I approach this? Am I overreacting when it upsets me? Should I as the man just kick back until she asks for it? Thanks. No, it's weird because historically It would be the opposite it would be the woman wanting to get married in the man who is dragging his heels on it Part of the reason this has changed is because of feminism and women being told by the whole culture that they have to put up Getting married and they need a career and a part of it also is because we've now normalized premarital sex since the 1960s I'm not accusing you of doing that. I don't know what you're doing. I'm not asking But because of that people get a lot of the goods of marriage like you know that thing the married couples do and even living together and all They get all of that without actual marriage. So there's there's less of an impetus for marriage, but regardless in the old days it would be the woman who would who would say something to the effect of I'll clean it up slightly pisser get off the pot and now weirdly you're in that position But you should not wait until she asks for it if you wait until she asks what you're saying is that she is going to propose to you So you would be there by beginning your marriage with a complete inversion of the role of husband and what you would be the wife and and your girlfriend would be the husband That's a terrible idea I would say if you guys were 18 If you're 16 and this were some Romeo and Juliet thing then maybe you should wait a little bit But you're 25 and 26 that's a good time to get married and so I would just explain that to her and explain what you're thinking And especially if you are abstaining from the things that married couples tend to do Then you should say look I want to do those things I want to do it with you and I want us to be married forever and have a bunch of kids So if you don't want to do that we clearly have a different view of marriage and of life together And if you are just confused by the culture and you do trust me and you do want me to be your husband eventually Well, let's start right now because I'm I'm gonna start leading What will be our household in this first act of our marriage which would be The proposal and and the wedding itself that that's what I would do 20 25 and 26 the the one that really Gives the whole thing away to me is she wants to get more fit You know you can exercise when you're married. What is that get more fit? What so she can fit in the dress a little better and get nice pictures for Instagram Already we're we're now trading higher goods for lesser goods and I yeah, I would just say all right honey I want to get married. I want to get married to you if you don't want to get married Let me know and I'll find somebody else to marry There's a lot more to say first. They're going to policy genius.com/nolskinawele.s Children have an extraordinary talent for creating expenses. I'm utterly terrified of women. I know they're very scary Not because I think they're going to hurt me But because the stuff in a lot of their heads is so dark like what the hell do you mean women are standing with a mom who killed her three kids? What do you mean the majority of them support killing babies in the womb? My question is this as your view of women generally diminished over the last few years or is it just me Thanks for all you do No, my view of women is not diminished Because I've always or long had a realistic view of women And men for that matter. I mean let's focus on the women first It is crazy and scandalizing to some people that there are all these women who are supporting a lady who killed her three kids And then who blamed it on postpartum depression with which she was not diagnosed eight months after the birth of her baby when people don't have postpartum depression Yeah, that is nuts. It's crazy that women are bringing their own kids to rally outside the courthouse In defense of a woman who murdered her three children. Yeah, that is yes. That is scandalizing to a lot of people But You do recall that the imagination of man's heart is evil from his very youth right your man. I'm not the first to observe that That goes all the way back to the book of Genesis actually so that shouldn't surprise us and it's not just women Think about it for men we hear so much about toxic masculinity in our culture because it's pushed by the government And it then the schools and the popular culture that people are shocked when they find out that men do good things They're not shocked when they find out that men do bad things, but I think even still Imagine just for a second if at your Most sinful in your darkest moments when you're tired when you're in a state of mortal sin When you're feeling lusty and addicted and prideful and wrathful and what imagine if a woman could get into your head It just just on the issue of sex If women truly understood how a man absent discipline and religion and commitment Actually thought about sex Women there would be a woman shaped hole in the wall. They would never want to speak to a man again Because women relate differently to sex And so yes, we're getting a glimpse into the darkest recesses of the female psyche Yes, of course it is the whole Lindsey Clancy case is is a Is a window in on the fact that half of women in this country support murdering babies at any time in the womb. I mean that is that is pretty crazy for sure But I guess what you have to do here is one Mary one of the 50% of women who does not support killing her kids or meet one of the 50% of women who in principle supports abortion And then just convince her she's wrong because a lot of women and men are propagandized to believe abortion is just health care Yes, that's true and you need to together Develop the discipline with the invaluable and irreplaceable will help of God's grace to pull away from those darkest aspects of ourselves. But no, the short answer, I guess, is this didn't reduce my opinion of women, because I already had a pretty low opinion of men and women's heart left to its own devices. So much more I want to get to, but we gotta go. So I'm Michael Nobles, this is the Michael Nobles, I'll show you next time. [MUSIC]
