Ep. 1840 - Separation Of Church And State Is A Left-Wing Myth. Now They're Admitting It.

Well, it's been a while since we've checked in on New York City, which has now been ruled by a Muslim socialist from Uganda for a little over eight months by my account. So we're going to begin with footage that was shot just a few days ago by a journalist named Nate Friedman, who's working on a documentary about the Islamic takeover of New York. He's also covered the Islamic domination of several of the U.S. cities, particularly in Michigan. This footage is footage that illustrates the current state of the largest city in the country, which is no longer American in any meaningful sense. Watch. I is not going to the mosque, this guy in the black car, and he's getting a ticket, but none of these taxis are getting a ticket. You got to be kidding me. How's it going, sir? Quick question for you. I noticed you're getting a ticket to this car, right? Yes. Okay, and what about all the taxis that are double-parks that are allowed in the time of Salat? Please say that again to the camera. Go ahead. They're permitted in the time of Salat in the city, they're permitted in the time of prayer. How do you know they're Muslim? Why is he not allowed to? How do you know he's not praying? How do you know that that car is not going to pray? How do you know that the guy that drives that car is not going to pray? This is not the question. Only the question is the time of prayer, they can't park. We are not justifying and police justifying that America. It's legal to double park if you're Muslim in the eyes of the presumably Muslim traffic come, but if you're not Muslim, then you get a ticket. And he admits all this on camera multiple times. We now have religious-based law enforcement in the United States right out in the open. Think about all the Fox News segments from 20 years ago about Sharia law arriving in the country. Now everyone made fun of the boomers for being paranoid and now realize where we are just 25 years after 9/11. This kind of preferential treatment, this overt discrimination does not simply apply to parking tickets in New York. It applies to the legal system, to welfare, to employment, to university admissions and everything else. Foreigners have captured New York and now they're redistributing the spoils amongst themselves. And as you just saw, the government is explicitly rewarding Muslims while punishing everybody else. That's what's happening. Now you think that would be a violation of the First Amendment and the separation of church and state that we hear so much about, but no one seems to care, at least on the left. And as insane as this is, there's actually a very clear explanation for what's happening here. This takeover didn't happen by accident. It was actually set in motion decades ago. It began with indoctrination, which all of us have been subjected to about the meaning of the words separation of church and state and how they relate or don't relate to our constitution. Now pretty much every American has been told at one point or another, at many points about the so-called separation of church and state. It's one of those phrases that's trailed into our heads in school. You're told that it's a fundamental tenet of American government, the critical guardrail that prevents us from descending into theocratic fascism. And you're led to believe that since the dawn of this country, students have learned about the separation of church and state, just as students have supposedly always learned about the trail of tears, for example. But that's not true at all. Just like the trail of tears, the concept of the separation of church and state, as we know it today, was actually an invention of the mid-20th century. For the vast majority of our country's history, if you mention the separation of church and state to the average American, they have no idea what you're talking about. The words appear nowhere in the constitution, and the phrase conveys the impression that religion should have no impact on government, which most people wouldn't agree with. Of course, people were familiar with the first amendment, and the idea that the federal government should not establish a state religion, as opposed to say the Church of England. But the notion that religion should be totally distinct from governance in every way, as implied by the phrase separation of church and state, would have seemed very strange to most people. But everything began to change in the mid-20th century. This was the period in American history when leftists went rummaging through the history books and began redefining our past so they could indoctrinate generations of schoolchildren and bring about radical, transformative change to our country. And maybe their most urgent objective, which continues to this day, of course, was eradicating Christianity from American society. This is the goal of leftists everywhere. It's why Canada had the whole mass graves hoax, which led very deliberately to a wave of church burnings. Christianity is incompatible with Communism because under Communism, the government is the highest authority when people believe in God. They become much harder to control. Now, as part of this effort, the First Amendment needed to be redefined into that and a progressive Supreme Court justice named Hugo Black wrote an opinion in 1947 that cited a letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802. And in that letter, which you sent to a Baptist association in Connecticut, the Danbury Baptist as a courtesy, Jefferson wrote, "I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people, which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state." Now, at the time, no one paid much attention to this letter. It was seen as unremarkable. He was basically just restating the First Amendment. And again, it was a courtesy letter, not a statement of policy or anything like that. He wasn't signing an executive order or signing legislation. Jefferson certainly didn't intend to be describing some grand new legal principle. But then Justice Hugo Black came along, and this was more than a century later. And here's what he wrote in an opinion in a First Amendment case. "In the words of Jefferson, the clause against the establishment of religion by law was intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state." The First Amendment has erected a wall between church and state. That wall must be kept high and impregnable. We cannot approve the slightest breach. Yes, the separation of church and state must be high and impregnable. Even the slightest of breach in this wall must be prohibited by the courts. So you can probably spot the sleight of hand here. In his letter, Jefferson was simply saying, "We have a First Amendment," which bans the government from establishing a state religion. This is how he understood the wall of separation between church and state. It was a metaphor to describe what was already in the language of the amendment. And he was, by the way, in that letter more concerned about the effect of the government on religion than religion on government. But by the 1940s, Hugo Black was interpreting the wall of separation as something very different. He was presenting it as a much broader concept, as an absolute ban on any interaction whatsoever between church and state. Instead of simply banning the government from establishing a state religion, Hugo Black was interpreting the First Amendment as banning any relationship between religion and government at all. This was a very strict prohibition in his view. Although I should note that in this particular case, Black was hesitant to actually apply the principle. It wasn't until a few years later that courts started to take the idea seriously. So within a few years, things picked up in the 1960s, and the phrase separation of church and state was suddenly everywhere. So take a look at this chart from Google's End Graham, which I think kind of illustrates. It tracks all mentions of the phrase separation of church and state in books and periodicals going back to the 1800s. And as you could see, pretty much no one was using the phrase until about the 1960s. Very similar trajectory to the Trail of Tears, which also became a household name very suddenly in the same decade. The effect on day-to-day American life was immediate. This was not simply a semantic change. By convincing the public that the founders wanted a total separation of church and state, the left was able to launch an all-out war on Christianity in every aspect of society. In the span of just a few years, the Supreme Court banned daily prayer in New York public schools, which were almost exclusively Christian prayers. The court also struck down a law in Pennsylvania that required public school students to recite the Lord's Prayer and read 10 Bible verses at the start of every school day. Kentucky and every other state was banned from putting the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms. The mere presence of the Ten Commandments, according to Supreme Court, was in a front on this brand new principle requiring the strict separation of church and state. Meanwhile, many government buildings were banned from displaying nativity scenes or hanging banners that read Glory to God in the Highest. Additionally, federal courts ruled a 43-foot Christian cross had to be removed from a public park in San Diego. They'd been on display for decades, but under this new rule, which was made up on the spot, the cross was actually illegal now. Then on top of that, schools in Alabama and all over the country were banned from scheduling a short period of time every day for students to engage in meditation or voluntary prayer. on the. the theory that most of the students would use the opportunity to say Christian prayers, God forbid. At graduation ceremony, members of the clergy were banned from leading the student body in prayer. And on and on and on, these cases and many more like them have helped the left accomplish one of its primary objectives, which is to eradicate Christianity specifically from public life. Now conservative judges realize what was happening, but by this point, they were outnumbered. Justice Rehnquist, for example, wrote that quote, "The wall of separation between church and state is a metaphor based upon bad history, a metaphor which has proved useless as a guide to judging. It should be frankly and explicitly abandoned." But it wasn't abandoned. It became a de facto constitutional amendment. Even though the original language of the amendment was actually very clear, it's not ambiguous at all. The only thing that was meant to prohibit is the government is the legislature from establishing a state religion. Anything outside of that is fine. If a public school teacher wants to say a prayer or even put the Ten Commandments in the classroom, that is not the legislature establishing a state religion. And so there's nothing in the language of the amendment that would prohibit that. Instead, you have to introduce new language that was never in any governing document to begin with. Now think about how remarkable this is. For nearly 200 years, everyone understood that America was a Christian nation. No one interpreted the first amendment as banning displays of Christianity in public places. No one thought it made sense to ban government buildings in schools from even mentioning Christianity. The whole idea would have been absurd. The first Congress had a congressional chaplain paid with taxpayer money to open legislative sessions with a prayer. In presidential proclamations, George Washington and John Adams established national days of prayer and Thanksgiving, the Northwest ordinance of 1787, which was passed by the Confederation Congress and then endorsed by the first Congress, stated that, quote, "religion morality and knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools in the means of education shall forever be encouraged." Not to mention, most crucially, the entire philosophical basis for the concept of human rights, which lies at the foundation of this country, is rooted inextricably in Christianity. It is a religious concept. The whole idea is that our rights are not given to us by the government, but are merely or should be merely recognized and codified by the government. The rights themselves exist apart from that recognition because they are, as the Declaration of Independence says, endowed by the creator. If you remove the creator from the equation, if you remove, in fact, the particular Christian conception of a creator god, then there's no basis for human rights as any kind of existential reality. In other words, religion is fundamental to the identity of our country and the functioning of our government and schools should include religious instruction. This is how everybody understood the First Amendment for many, many years, and the practice of religion in the United States. This is how it was understood. And then, very abruptly, a handful of unelected judges completely rewrote the Constitution. Did their rulings almost exclusively target Christians and displays of Christianity? Yes. But the left-wing judges and the politicians and teachers and academics and the media all assured us that Christians weren't being targeted specifically. It said they claim that judges were simply following the true meaning of the Constitution that no one had seen for like a century, but they came along and saw it. And that's all it was. And they were just trying to ensure that no religion received any kind of special treatment from the government, even though there's nothing in the First Amendment that actually forbids a religion, namely Christianity, from receiving special treatment. But that's all they wanted to make sure. And they insisted they would apply their strict standards impartially to prohibit any attempt to inject any religion, whether Christianity or some other faith in the public life. And that was never actually their intention, as we'll discuss in a moment. But we also need to acknowledge that as a practical matter, eliminating religion from public life is not possible. Anyway, it's contrary to human nature. Every country, whether it describes itself as secular or not, practices some kind of religion. Canada, as I mentioned, has gone to great lengths to erase Christianity. But Canada's politicians still recite ritualistic prayers at every opportunity. They call them land acknowledgments, in which they beg for forgiveness for the original sin of colonization. They do this in Australia. The NFL season kicked off for some reason, they played a game in Australia. And so they had some old ladies stand up in a football stadium and recite a land acknowledgment. It was the gaiest opening to a football game of all time coming to us from our friends in Australia. But it's basically a prayer. It's a religious ceremony, secular religion. In Canada and Australia, they also have blasphemy laws, basically. They're just designed to protect criminals and foreigners and transidentifying communists. And of course, they believe the rapture is coming in the form of climate change. You know, at a certain point in life, you have to accept a few unpleasant realities. You're not 22 anymore. But this is another speech you should look up online when you get a chance. And here's the relevant part for our purposes. Listen, because here's something else that's weird, but true. In the day-to-day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshiping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship, and the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of God or spiritual type thing to worship, be it JC or Allah, be it Yahweh or the wicked Mother Goddess or the four noble truths or some inviolable set of ethical principles is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive. If you worship money and things, if they are where you tap real meaning in life, then you will never have enough. Never feel you have enough. It's the truth. Worship your own body and beauty and sexual allure and you will always feel ugly. And when time and age start showing, you will die a million deaths before they finally plant you. On one level, we all know this stuff already. It's been codified as myths, proverbs, cliches, epigrams, parables, the skeleton of every great story. The whole trick is keeping the truth up front in daily consciousness. Now the leftists in the 1960s who invented the fraudulent concept of the separation of church and state understood all this. Their goal was never to eliminate religion. Instead they wanted to install leftism as the default faith of millions of young Americans and they succeeded. Decades of secularization were in fact a purge of Christianity specifically. New religions immediately sprang up to fill the void. In some cases secular, wokeism took hold, which has all the features of a religion, including saints and sacraments, sins and punishment. But in other cases, the new religion is literally Islam. And that's certainly the case in our largest city in New York as we just discussed. That's what happens when you take what is a Christian nation. Our nation is a Christian nation fundamentally historically by its very identity. You empty out the Christianity by force of law and then you bring in a whole bunch of foreigners with their own religion and they just start filling up that vacuum, which is exactly what's happening. And there are many more examples than that one clip of the traffic cop. Every other day you'll find evidence of politicians and government bureaucrats in New York openly endorsing Islam or giving preferential treatment to Muslims. Kind of displays that if Christians had been involved instead, immediately would have led to massive lawsuits. Nationwide protests, angry press releases from the ACLU. Here's Mamdani hosting something called Ramadan Eftar in City Hall. Whatever that is. Listen carefully to what he says. "The reason that I love Ramadan so much is for everything else that it means, for the time of reflection, the time of focus, and really a time where you understand yourself as part of something larger than just as an individual. And even just having you all here today, even just sitting on the floor, the transformation of a space that I've only ever known in one way, frankly, it is a gift. And it's a real joy to have you all here." It explicitly refers to transforming the space that he's only ever known in one way as they perform this religious ritual inside City Hall, specifically there inside the Blue Room. It's first time any mayor has ever done this, for obvious reasons. It's precisely the kind of conduct that for the past 70 years we've been told as a direct violation of the sacred mythical principle of the separation of church and state. Schools have been prohibited from telling students they can pray, supposedly because prayer would transform a public school into a place of worship. Cities have been barred from putting up nativity scenes outside municipal buildings because an activity scene would allegedly transform city property into a religious display. And now the Muslim mayor of New York, by his own admission, is transforming City Hall into a mosque and with very few exceptions, like the Freedom from Religion Foundation, no court or prosecutor or NGO or anyone else is saying anything about it. Now here's more from this iftar at City Hall. They spent half the time speaking in foreign languages and talking about how great the Muslim call to prayer is. Watch. The gorgeous colors of families dress their best on that most celebratory of days. It is a beautiful thing that all of you in this room and beyond it have built in these pockets of light. This guy is just a walking stream of vapid cliches and all of his speeches are like this. We'll talk about the Mexican auntie and the Venezuelan abuela and the Nicaraguan cabbie and the Puerto Rican bodega owner and the Haitian dog sitter and the Somali ice cream truck driver. As if he's painting some vibrant, irresistible image of a thriving city. When in fact most of us would rather live around Americans who speak our language. Thank you. Is that an option? Almost half of the city wasn't even born in the country. Nearly a third of them can't speak English fluently. So I guess noise ordinances don't apply to Muslims in New York City either. In addition to traffic laws, immigration laws, or really any other law, it's only going to get worse. In Britain, as we learn from the murder of Henry Novak, foreigners also get special knife exemptions, so they can kill any white person they want. Won't be long until Muslims in New York get the same exemption, so they don't have it already. The white women in the city, as you just saw, or fine with it, they voted for it. These people are winning because unlike most Christian conservatives, they're not ashamed of holding and using their political power. They know that if they dare their enemies to challenge them, they'll be far too afraid to do so. And indeed, this has been going on for months now in New York. Here's Mamdani praying with some of the city's sanitation workers. You can see it there. Again, imagine this behavior in any other context. Imagine if a Catholic mayor gathered a bunch of his subordinates together and started reciting the Lord's Prayer. Now, how long do you think it would take for a lawsuit to get filed? It's happened plenty of times. In fact, just this year an organization that's literally called Americans United for separation of church and state filed a lawsuit over prayer services at the Department of Defense and the Department of Labor, quote, "The federal government's role is to serve the public, not to proselytize," said Americans as a United president and CEO, Rachel Laser. Secretary's Hegseth and Chavez DeRamer are abusing the power of their government positions and taxpayer-funded resources to impose their preferred religion on federal workers, even if these prayer services are presented as voluntary, there's pressure on federal employees to attend in order to appease their bosses, especially since these services occur amidst the Trump administration's campaign to punish anyone who doesn't comply with its Christian nationalist agenda. There's an entire web of NGOs and fake nonprofits that file lawsuits like this all the time. The moment they hear about a Christian politician engaging in any kind of display of religious faith, they repel onto the scene with their lawyers. They won't tolerate any display of Christian faith in a public setting period. And there's simply no equivalent organization on the right. So the separation of church and state only works in one direction. Its silences and intimidates and punishes Christians while allowing other religions, particularly Islam, to run rampant. To the extent that Mamdani has accomplished anything in office, it's to make it abundantly clear that the separation of church and state is not a real principle that anyone on the left actually cares about. Watch. New York mayors are on Mamdani observed Ramadan last night with the men who are incarcerated at Rikers Island, the city's jail complex, and Pierre's Brian Mann has more. Mamdani arrived through heavy security, joining a group of men many held as they await trial together they know to pray. Mamdani spent an hour with the men talking and breaking the fast with a meal. He spent much of the last month holding public celebrations. This is me just being a Muslim New Yorker. And I think there are some for whom that is a political act. In order to get sentenced to prison in New York based on how the D.A. lets almost everybody off with a warning, you pretty much have to be an insanely dangerous criminal or a repeat defender or an extremely bad person in some way. But Mamdani doesn't care about any of that. He's only interested in the fact that these people are Muslim and his eyes that makes them virtuous regardless of whatever crimes they committed. That's why you get posts like this one from earlier this year which was posted on the official account of the New York City mayor's office of immigrant affairs. So you can see there, quote, February 1st is World Hijab Day. Today we celebrate the faith identity and pride of Muslim women and girls around the world who choose to wear the hijab, a wonderful, powerful symbol of devotion and celebration of Muslim heritage. Yes, World Hijab Day. It's right up there with Muslim American Heritage Month, Muslim History Month, International Day, the combat Islamophobia, along with the claim that all the women across the world in the Middle East to wear this thing, it's because they choose to, right, famously, famously in the Middle East, they're big on letting women choose their outfits. This old stick is reminiscent of how the LGBTQ2S+ movement has claimed 364 different days in the calendar to celebrate transgenderism, gay uncles, drag queens, international pronouns, and everything in between. And now the Muslims who in general are supposedly no great fan of the LGBT movement are doing it too. On the left, you just can't escape this. They're constantly throwing parties for themselves and they're doing it with the full backing of the government because the laws simply don't apply to them. All this has the potential to be very demoralizing and confusing if you allow it to be. We're all seeing in real time how the separation of church and state was really a legal fiction all along. You had another fraud of many that originated from the civil rights era. There is actually an upside here and that upside is pretty simple. One we all realize that, you know, once we all realize that the separation of church and state is fake because it is and was never a part of our constitution, then we could take some decisive action to return our country to its Christian heritage. We can openly embrace Christian leaders or even Christian nationalism, which until now most Republicans have been too afraid to do. But guess what, Islamic nationalism is already here. Courts aren't doing anything about it. The separation of church and state is dead. We should start acting like it.
