(upbeat music) Hey there, I'm so excited that you're here and listening to me talk. I'm Shelby and you're listening to Hey Shelby, a podcast to answer your questions. A little bit about me and why I'm here is basically because YouTube seemed like a lot of work and I wanted to start helping people now since I've been procrastinating long enough. And so I've always wanted to help people. Everyone has always told me to become a teacher but I just never saw that as a path for myself although I love teachers in school. It was just not for me. I always love to learn about new things, everything, anything and I'm always down to trying new things. So I think of myself as this permanent student who's super observant and intuitive and with everything that I've learned, I've always wanted to share it. So here I am. I went to school to actually become a graphic designer which I did that for a long time and then this friend of a friend who I had just met had invited me to go to Alaska. So I just hopped on a plane that summer and we became the best of friends. We met a lot of great people and she showed me around and we met a lot of her friends and she noticed that I always had something to say to help people either grow their business with their problems or just by giving advice, either to their face or to her. And so one long night drive, she told me, why didn't I do this for a living? And I remember looking at her like, what? Do what? And she blurted out, help people. Oh, okay. Thinking, gosh, can you be more vague? And so then we were talking about it and really diving deep and I never became a teacher because I didn't want to just help people in one aspect of life, but in every and any aspect. I'm so interested in always learning and discovering and understanding all these new things that I basically became like this Jack of all trades, which is not the norm. When I grew up, I was always told like, what do you wanna be when you grow up or what's the one thing you want to do for the rest of your life? And it was always a really daunting thing and it's such an internal battle for me to just choose one thing. I mean, I am more passionate about things over others, but I had a mission to find and do what made me happy. Like traveling and health and wellness, tips and tricks, DIY projects, marketing and business, but that came with the graphic design life I had. And especially if I meet you and you're starting your own business or you're starting a project or a new job or something, even going on a date, like I just wanna be a part of that. I get so, so jazz. When you have a dream and need help to get there, I wanna be your biggest cheerleader. I want to be in there helping you out. And I wanna be your number one supporter. Anyone with a dream or goal, no matter the size, I want to be there, which I never thought I had a dream or a goal because I was always trying to figure that out. So I mean, I am so ready to be the next housewife that looks like fun, but I always wanted to help others reach their goals and dreams. I mean, it really excites me, like, you know, putting a puzzle together. So on that long drive, we figured that I should be consulting, which I know is still very vague, but since then, we've kept that idea in the back of our mind. And then one day, boom! Like, during my acupuncture appointment, laying on a table full of needles, all this excitement, dear Shelby came to light. But I didn't want to be the quote unquote, traditional advice column. I know, I'm very rebellious here. So, hey Shelby, was born. The modern advice column and your pocket, consultant. So I invite you all to email me your questions at
[email protected]. Or super cool, if you want to call in, quote unquote, you can record a question for me on the anchor app, and I will answer it there, or here. So I'll play it live and everything, and everyone can listen, and I can respond to it. It's going to be a lot of fun. So please, if you want to be anonymous, say so, none of your information will be shared. Just your questions, and thank you for listening. Thank you for starting this journey with me, and I hope to hear from you soon. Bye. (upbeat music) Hey, I just wanted to say thank you so much for listening in.
