EP#0- What is Everyday Endorphins?

Stella introduces the "Everyday Endorphins" podcast, explaining that endorphins are hormones that create feelings of euphoria and alleviate stress, often released through physical activity. The podcast’s core concept is to discover ways to spark happiness and well-being in daily life by developing healthier, sustainable habits. Stella originally started "Everyday Endorphins" as an Instagram account in 2015 during her freshman year of high school, when she joined a rowing team. This experience shifted her perspective on health and fitness, and the Instagram served as a creative outlet. However, she eventually found the content repetitive and boring, as it did not fully represent holistic health. This inspired her to launch the podcast, where she will discuss topics related to health, well-being, and mental health awareness, sharing diverse perspectives on finding happiness and maintaining a positive outlook. Her ultimate aim is to empower listeners to take charge of their own health. The podcast will release new episodes weekly.

(gentle music) Hi, this is Stella and I'm your host for the Everyday Endorphins podcast. So this is my first episode, which is exciting, a little stressful, but mostly exciting. And the point of this intro is to talk about what Everyday Endorphins is, why I'm starting this podcast. So let's get into it. Endorphins are a hormone released in the body that produce feelings of euphoria and happiness and help to alleviate stress and anxiety. So oftentimes you can get endorphins from engaging in physical activity, kind of like the runner's high. And the concept of Everyday Endorphins is really about finding ways to spark happiness and well-being in your day-to-day life. So developing healthier, sustainable habits that can help to produce positivity and positive sense of well-being. I actually started Everyday Endorphins in high school as an Instagram account back in 2015. When I was a freshman in high school, I started rowing on a club crew team called Roni York out of New York City. And prior to that, I was not athletic at all. Never interested in playing on a team sport. I was a pretty active kid. I was a dancer for a while and I'd practiced yoga a lot growing up, but I was never interested in athletics. So you can imagine joining a crew team was definitely a challenging experience for me, but very rewarding. At the time when I was rowing, I'd started Everyday Endorphins the Instagram and that was really an outlet for me, like a creative outlet to talk about my interest and my changing perspective on health and well-being and nutrition and fitness. I had kept it up in high school and then I didn't really keep the Instagram active when I came to college because I started to grow bored with the same meals I was eating and the same workouts I was doing, posting basically the same kind of content on the Instagram account. There's just so many Instagram accounts out there that post that type of content and I just found it to be boring and redundant and I realized that what I was putting out there didn't necessarily represent the epitome of what it means to be healthy. So that's kind of where this podcast comes into play. Throughout my time in college, I've realized how important mental health is and understanding the deep connection between your mind and your body. So my goal with this podcast is to talk about topics related to health and well-being. Here, people's perspective on what it means to be healthy and ways to find happiness in your day-to-day life and maintain a positive outlook. I also think that it's important to spread awareness about mental health as well and that's what I hope to do with this podcast. But more importantly, I really hope that my listeners can feel empowered to take a hold of their own health and well-being. Stay tuned to hear new episode weekly and happy listening.
