So how are you? I haven't chated to you for like a while. I am good. I think. I've just got Miss Polnet's queen friend obviously coming out soon. So I'm just just like trying to contain myself until then. And yeah, I'm homeschooling and it's been great because I'm so proud of myself. Because Flynn read two little books by himself like with me there. That's huge. So for anybody who's listening, Flynn has a little bit of confidence issue with reading and I think it was all because of schooling. And I'm just a really good teacher in every single way. I'll teach you to read. And that's the tea. And that's the tea. Oh my God, that is huge. That is huge. Not just like in terms of you being a teacher but also as a mum. That you must be so proud. Oh, I'm so proud. I'm so proud. Yeah, it's I think the I guess the teaching thing is because you I grew up in the schooling system, I have a very specific way of thinking how things like how my school system, sorry, school experience was. And so I had to kind of get out of my head and realize that's not how it's going to happen for my child. So I'm learning too. But that's that's great. It's always good to learn. How are you doing? I'm good. We are 95% moved into our house here in Tazzy. It's been beautiful view. It's my beautiful view. Yes, yes, it's quite it's quite peaceful. This morning, specifically, I've watched the Bridgewater Jerry just float on pass. Now the Bridgewater Jerry is a cloud system that starts up near Bridgewater, which is a suburb in Tasmania. And it kind of floats down the door when it's just like this thick as fuck cloud cover and just float on by sometimes it can last all day. Sometimes it only lasts for a couple hours. But that's quite lovely, quite lovely, quite nice. And we pick up the rest of our stuff tomorrow from storage, which is also good because that stuff is all of our cooking in our crockery. They've been eating two minute noodles. Yeah, pretty much. We don't even have a microwave, which is hilarious because I went to the shops, bought all this stuff for dinner, but I bought microwave packet rice. Sorry. It's not on your neighbor's door. Can I borrow a microwave for 30 seconds? Yeah, can I hang out in your kitchen for 30 seconds by the way? Yeah. I feel like Tasmania and people should, like, would be nice. They are like slow down vibes. Yeah. Yeah, small town vibes. But yeah, so it's been real nice. It also means I get to pick up my computer, which I haven't had for the last couple of months. Not saying working from laptop is hard, but it is hard. Sometimes you need a giant monitor to edit a podcast with. Totally fair. And I think you're just thinking of multiple things open and exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Makes editing those videos that we pop up on TikTok and Instagram much easier than like doing it on my phone. Yeah. On the phone is not easy. Like, I have that experience we can for, you know, doing stuff in the studio. It just on a phone is not a vibe. It is not a vibe. No, so I'm getting closer and closer to normalcy and getting a routine up and going, which is nice. So I'm home. I used to have my own home poll. I sold it. It was an ex stage and I loved it dearly, but I sold it because we didn't know where we were going to end up or if we were going to have space for me to pop it up. Definitely don't have space in this house to pop up a home poll, which is a bit bad. But that's okay, because the studio is here in Tessie and not that far away. They're about 20. Oh, great. So that's great. That's so good. Yeah. So good. I can just go practice. 20 minutes is nothing. It's nothing. It's nothing in Tessie. 20 minutes gets you like halfway across like the state. I was about to say. I was about to say, it's like here in town while you drive. He could literally drive like to the other side of town almost. Right. Yeah. So what's I about to say? Oh, yeah. It's been a week. It's been a week. It has been a week. There's lots going on. You've got Ms. Paul Nance Queensland coming up and we'll deep dive on that in a second because I really want to know how you're going with that. But I think it would be good to mention. There's been a lot going on in the poll world at the moment. Not nice things. No, not nice things at all. Yeah. No, no. And I think it goes without saying the podcast supports trans women's rights to access and be supported in female only spaces as well as supporting our queer community, our color community. We are supportive of everyone and all minorities just in case anyone was wondering. But yeah, it's been a tad bit a tad bit upsetting, but it's also been very lifting because I feel like the poll community has really rallied around. I would agree. Yeah. This situation of a trans woman being excluded from a studio to put it in the very simple and basic terms. And it's just been incredible to see studios and just everyone of the community really rallying behind that and going, no, no, we support trans rights. We support trans women, trans women are women. Exactly. And I think for me, I felt like I felt very obviously I was upset about the situation, but the I feel uplifted because our communities across all of Australia immediately jumped to support. And I think that that was really beautiful because there's been a lot of division in the world, let alone just the poll community. And I think it's like, so I think it's really wonderful to see that happens so quickly, and so I just want to say go you Australian and Paul community, go ask like how wonderful to make lemonade out of lemons. Yeah, absolutely, shout out to Andrea James-Louis. Oh, actually I just realized it's my turn to start shouting her out. Actually, we both can shout her out now constantly. It used to be Charlie's job to shout her out every episode in some way. And she pulled together an incredible showcase that was also a fun razor for I can't remember the charity now. I was talking to Vanessa and Vanessa said it was like a really beautiful and uplifting event and just really exactly what the community down there needed. Yeah, and she had a honey and chrome studio as well for putting that on. Yeah, absolutely. Also the photo at the space looks beautiful. It's so beautiful. So I have actually been seeing like Eliza Hubba. I've been seeing her like dance in the space and I was like, where what is this space? I don't know anything about this space. And then yeah, yeah, that's when I saw it pop up and I was like, oh my goodness, that is beautiful, but the owner is a designer. Also, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. Eliza, I think it's Cuba or Hubba. Cuba or Hubba? I'm not sure. Okay. I should know that. I do. Hubba, Hubba. Love her. I was like, oh my god, that's a fun fact. I know. Be as such a gorgeous dancer. Yeah, also shout out to the Paul Physio as well. They've been huge supporters of the issue at hand and throwing, you know, support everywhere. There's a few other people as well. And I'm sorry, I don't know you off the top of my head to mention, but the support has been incredible. So yeah, that was, I think that was really uplifting. You're obviously uplifting. And Bex. Basically, I'm dealing with forearm issues that need to be handled because if I don't handle them, they could turn into tennis elbow and we don't want that. And no, no, it's not good. Um, yeah, I'm managing that. So I'm just picking my battles. Yeah. As in training, what is most important to train and then things that I, you know, I can't do five runs a week at the moment. It's just not possible. I have to be really careful and just be kind to my body. So it's fine. I can do it, but I just have to, again, I have to be gentle. So that's fine. Gentle. So what have we ticked off the list? What's done? Music's done. Oh, music is done. Yeah. Um, I became a DJ for this. Like, there is this version of my first song that I'm doing. The DJ has done, like, created this track by merging some two different tracks. I will keep that a secret. I mean, you know what it is, but the listeners have to wait. I feel so on the inside, this time, which is so nice, because normally I'm not, well, normally, but like when Charlie was doing a competition, he would be so reserved in telling me the songs and like what he was doing. He was very like, yeah, which was fine. Like you, that's exactly what it would be, but I'm like, oh, I get to know. I used to do that. I used to be very close to my chest about things, but I think talking about it for me helps me get my ideas, flowing better. Um, so yeah, this song that this DJ did, he did, he's done it in some sets. And he's going to release it, but it won't be fully released. So I had to like create a version for myself. So it's not obviously, it's not going to be what he did. And if I do get to do this show again, I will just change up the music. But yeah, I did a little bit of DJing for. I just did a performance, pulled it, said DJ. I just changed the. I sped it up and I changed the semi-tone of it. So I learned how to do that so that I could change. So that it would match. And then there's a second song as well. I know, I got deep into it. And then I was like, I came downstairs and was like, "Oh my god, this is so great." And then I played it on the big speaker and it was not right. And I was like, "No!" So I went and fixed it. Took me another couple of hours. But I'm sure, like an actual DJ, if I had just asked someone who is an actual DJ to do for me, they probably would have done it in five minutes, but. That's not. that's not part of my process. I wanted to learn. Look, it's the ADHD. It is, it really is. It is, you generally learn. So you know how? And then I think, what's I know how? I'm like, "Okay, well, someone else can do it now because I know how to do it." But I don't care anymore because I know how to do it. Totally. The other works. Costume has arrived. I am stoning it myself. So that's happening. I've done the top. What sort of a glue gel are you? Are you an E6000 or.? Yeah, I am, yeah. I am put your mask on E6000, kind of. Or open room with lots of air flow. Don't bring that cheating gun, it's bad for you. Oh my god, it's so bad. But it does, it works. I remember when I first ever used it and I got. I definitely was like. Oh, chops from the glue. Maybe not, just more like. Why is my nose hurt? Why is my throat burning? Why is everything suddenly really blurry? Yeah. So that's being done. What else do I have to do? I've forgotten. Music, costume. I'm doing my own makeup in here. That's going to be interesting. I need to do a test start for it because I'm doing. Do you want to go into your own hair? Uh, last year I did for both the finals and the heat. Because. I had to put the stone. I stoned my whole face with the sparkly blood. And that was magic. But it took a really long time and to have to get a makeup artist to do that, I think that they would have been like. Lily Bailey, did you really have to choose to do this? But I did. It was great. It looks so good. And then when I was back afterwards and I'm so mad at myself, and I'm like crying because of how hard I worked. And then it just fell in the routine. I cried. But it made it look so good. I should have cried before the show. But this year, yeah, I'm going to do my makeup for the heat. I think it's easier. But I'm also doing another thing with my makeup that's a little bit different. So I'm going to. Oh! I'll tell you about that. I'm going to have to ask you a question. You might know the answer too. But I'll leave after a while. We can wait until we're offline. I just realized my dog is snoring again. She's right next to me. If you can hear it, I do not apologize. We were all in the same change room and we were all having to like. navigate, like, needing space to make up and then stretch and whatever. And so everybody was just being really like talking a lot and like just. Biving off each other, I guess. Which was really nice. And sometimes. Because I was new to Queensland as well back then before. People didn't know me as well. Except for a few people like Shell. I've known Shell forever. Yeah. It's like a thing of like. And then just like. Because you don't know each other. Either people are like. Hi, baby. I don't know. It's just random. They do know you, but because they haven't met you and haven't been in the same room. I know who you are. But we don't know each other. Yeah, whereas I'm a catcher, you know, Matt. But seeing this is what's so funny about it is that when I talk to you online, I think, oh, my gosh. Sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah, because. Yeah, if I talk to online, just so you know people, if I talk to you, I will most likely know who you are. And remember you and say hello to you in person. So if I'm saying hello to you and I look like I know you, it's because I probably do. I've got an elephant memory. I'm pretty good with faces. Oh, my God. She was there side stage, but she didn't, she didn't compete. And she was, because I think, I remember, because I had like, flashing in my lights last year. She was like, I couldn't watch that part. And Star is competing again. So Star has come back from having a baby. Oh, we've got two people who have had babies. Miss Rainbow, Casey, had a baby like less than six months ago. and is back on the stage wild. I definitely didn't do that. So I'm excited to see that her. Shell's always going to be amazing because it's Shell. Shell's like insane. Do you know who I love Beatrix? Oh, I love Beatrix Adele. It's so beautiful. Now has Beatrix? She's just moved. I would say, I was going to say, it's like normally I see her in Miss Pollnett's Vick lineup, don't I? You did years ago, but she moved like a few years ago, but she moved to Queensland and I think job situation back down in Melbourne. So moved back to Vick. So just moved back. So I think at the time of entering we're still in Queensland. So put the thing in and then I think, you know, it's like, I've got to leave. I've got to go to Melbourne. So they're like, well, we'll just we'll keep you in that one because that makes sense. That makes sense. You didn't know you were moving. No, no, no, no. You didn't know. Yeah. And so and then who else is competing? Tasha is competing. She's from Townsville. General question about Miss Pollnett's Australia because you've seen a lot of it. Yes, since 2006. Is there anything that you wish that they brought back in terms of rules and like what you could do performance wise that they've taken me up or oh, I kind of like that they got racial. I kind of like that they got rid of backup dancers because we never used to have backup dancer things. I'm kind of glad they did that because then that allows icon to just go mental. True. Yeah. Also, it's very expensive to have that many backup dancers when you leave out of state because I pay everyone. So, you know, yeah. And do you know what I wouldn't really love just because I would extend in a style job. So then to bring back the gown parade. Do you remember they did that? Yes. Yes. Oh my god. I said that. I feel like someone else said that like last year about the gown parade. Please Vanessa breathe back like I think that the main reason why they and this makes sense. Yeah. The person who goes on first, if they have to come out and walk and stand there and like pose for a photo in their gown. That's just, you know, but we all used to be ridiculous outfits as well. I remember my first year I did poison ivy as my theme. And so I had like this really tight pin up a line kind of skirt vibe that I because I won this pin up. I won this pin up Victoria. And I came second in this pin up Australia. But like they I would pause pause pause pause. Sorry. Hold on. Miss pin up. Yeah. Back it up. Back it up. Miss pin up. You came up second in Miss pin up Australia. Yeah. And that's a pin up section. Yeah. You've never brought that up before. I've never heard of this. Yeah. Sorry. That's rude. Breed. Breed. The law of baila. Yeah. I wouldn't pause pause pause at the Miss ball without this Australia stuff. I want to know more about the pin up. Tell me. Okay. So a bajillion years ago, I'm going to say that this was in 2010 or 2011 somewhere there. There was this photographer, her name was Pixie. Can't remember Pixie's last name. And she had like a pin up photography company. She was also an other or is I assume still is a pin up like 1950s, 40s, 50s, pin up vibe collector. So her house filled to the brim with memorabilia from that era. So she had like a room in the front of her house that was like set up so that she had like like a diner set up and I like a little hair station. There's photos. I'll send them to you so that you can put them into the big guest list. So the Susie Q Cole studio group, like all the teachers, we all got together and we did a photoshoot. And then from their Pixie, and Pixie was like said something to me about doing pin up stuff. And I loved pin up makeup and hair and stuff. And so I was like learning how to teaching myself how to do it. And then Pixie put on Miss Pin up Australia. And so I actually was, I had to move to Melbourne because I was in a play or a yes on sort of theatre production. I can't remember what one I was and I was down there for and I didn't know how long I was going to be there for. And so they were like we I said I'm moving like this week should I just enter into Victoria or should I enter into New South Wales because I will be back. I just don't know when. And they were like no into Victoria because you're moving there. So just enter that. So I did. And then the show ended up I can't remember. I think I just moved back to New South Wales. So I was back in New South Wales and there was a whole controversy of that there. I couldn't, I couldn't, I couldn't, I couldn't do anything about that. But anyways, I went and did Miss Pin up Victoria and I won. And it was a cute bar in the city. I can't remember the name of it, but it was really cute. And I had really tiny small little stage and we had to do like a swimsuit section and like a day wear section and like a not evening wear section and you had to be talent. I can't remember what I did for my talent for the heaths, but I did have some team for the finals. I just speechless at this knowledge. The law of Bailey hard. I did a lot in my life. That's been why, but yeah. So I came first at Miss Pin up Victoria and then when I did the finals, the finals were run at the international other like the tattoo convention. And it was in the Gold Coast. And it was definitely not the same vibe as in the bar like because it was very like fluorescent lighting and yeah. Oh my god, there was so much drama as well. There was so much drama. There was like spill a tiny bit. Could be spill a tiny bit with no navy. Oh yeah. I can't remember anyone's names except for Tatine who is still a friend of mine today who and also Bunny Lombata. She's lovely. Burlesqueen gorgeous. So there was some sort of bullying thing that happened where there was somebody who was competing and all of our phone numbers were put on a list and so we all had access to each other's phone numbers and somebody got a phone call from unknown number and they left voicemessages for this person saying that this person was really ugly and like what are you doing? You should, you know, just being really mean and really horrible. And oh my god. Pixie, I think this is what happened. I'm pretty sure Pixie was like, I'm not putting the comp on until somebody comes forward and takes responsibility for this. Wow. Yeah. So that's all I can really remember that happened. I don't remember the, I don't remember like if anyone got to squall side. I don't really remember what happened but I just remember that that happened and it was so evil but also like yeah, I did it for one year and then I never did it again because of that. I was like I'm not involving myself. Would anyone imagine if that happened in the poll world? Absolutely ridiculous. Like as if you would do that. Like nasty. I'm sure there are nasty people in every industry. I'm not saying that it's just that industry. That's right. I think that's just, you know, that's just lie. Unfortunately. But yeah, it was a time. So did you get a sash for mispire? Yeah. Just get a little tiara. Oh my god. Stop it. Like a sash. Do I still have it? I think I probably still have the sash somewhere. It's probably in a box. I do have like a box, like a couple of boxes of like old school memorabilia from that from a turn. And then from that I did quite a little bit of pin up modeling for like stores and stuff that were like nearby. There was a store in Sydney. I don't know. They still exist. It was called Mulberry Street vintage. And I feel like I've heard of that one before. Yeah. She used to have do find proper vintage stuff and sell it in her store she would do selling stuff on consignment so you could just bring your stuff in and sell it and that's where I got most of my pin-up outfits for and also from sandy busy who's another person in Sydney who sold amazing stuff but then she started doing repo so she started reproducing old patterns in more modern materials and stuff and but her stuff was very not it was very like trying to stay a bit more true to the old school stuff whereas I you know how there's a lot of repo that'll have like I don't know kitty cats and like skulls and crossbones and things like that and so she stayed away from that because there was already two other companies that were doing stuff like that like retrospect and there was another one I can't remember the other one's called maybe Betty Cage or something yeah so yeah did a bit of pin-up rolling and then I remember when to my last photo shoot this little your laugh your fingers is funny and I did something like I did like a pose like whereas like that and the woman was like uh could you actually just bring the arms down and that is when I went I am not to go to be a part of this community anymore which is so funny because that would not happen today do you know what I mean no yeah that's like 15 years ago do you know what I mean like now we would be all doing these ones like yeah like the chicken there with the blue and the red oh what's the title of that image it's an it's that's a very important image I should know that I had I actually I think it might have been retrospect made that shirt and I had the shirt and a red bandana to match because I wanted that vibe for myself because I was like yeah and I was not I didn't not I was not muscular like I am now like think I think I really like that I've always sat on the fence about the whole human prop situation with me miss pole dance Australia and I think now that I listened to a lot of other people's opinions to bring back yes so back in the day when you got through to the finals you would go backstage and everyone would have a chair like their little area would be set up and every single person would get a pair of hot hats with their name on the back in glitter or like sequins yes so yes if you're listening hold on hold the fuck on because I have I either have mischievous or I have fillies oh my gosh hold on I think they're sitting oh they're right here hold on so I brought back a bag hold on it doesn't have anyone's name on it so the name isn't on there but their 007 hammers are those one yeah Australia 2016 these are so these were in the freebie bin several several years ago and I don't know if they're fillies or mischievous from pole demon yeah we are taking these these are all greasy maybe no because it was mini ponds mini ponds okay I was either fill your mish because so I've got a few pairs of those as well those ones without the names but these ones were like made for us and it was like such a thing back then that you would be like oh my god I get to have a pair of pants with my name on them and then what happened cuz it was standing on them well no there was no miss pole dance Australia written on it it just had your name that was it and it was in like that you know like the sequin that's on a red and it like and she so okay that's cool had a company her name was kitty and it was called 007 heaven and she used to make all of our outfits at bobby's when we would do like showcases and stuff and so you would go and see her and she'd like you know draw up the ideas and we'd get little like sequin scratchy sequin bikinis and like you know like with beads and up like haze and they were and they were like low hot pants not high hot pants that everyone wears now as well like old school 2000 early 2000s but yes we would get those but then I remember a kitty started making hot pants that had that you could buy anyone could buy that would have their name on it but it was in like a print rather than the sequins and they stopped doing them for miss pole dance because I think they were like oh now you're making them for everyone so they wanted it to be something that was just special and I was like break let's bring that back let's bring it bring back the hot pants you know I'd bring back the seafood buffet that came out at the early once oh that was a great story that nest told my god do you know I found out that my mom used to go and party at the bourbon and beef steak which is where the first miss pole was like just did out took couple of years prior to the first miss old as my mom was like partying partying at the bourbon beef steak she's like mama yeah mama yeah I know my mom's my mom's a what we should get mum heart on this she can tell some stories will you imagine yeah mama okay we want to come in do you want to hear mum a heart on the podcast to hear some stories of just a her life and be of Bailey as a child oh yeah yeah you
