And by the way, those beams are also on Wayfair. But now it has been moved into what will be the spook easy of our house. And I'm not allowed to see what they're doing in their house and in her parents have been working on that a day in and day out. She's officially that retiree. The only thing she needed left was a big old rug. - Yeah. - She was like, I just need something that'll tie the whole piece together. - It's a hard piece to shop for. It's a hard piece sometimes. - And I said, "Well, Mom, funny you should mention that because we work with tumble and did you know that they have spill-proof machine washable, integrated rug pad, non-toxic material, stylish rugs that you can just go shop for right now online and they'll just send it right over to you. - Gonna have a glass of red wine by the peanut butter. And I was like, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. But then I would remember that the rug was-- - No, it literally is meant to be washed. - Yeah, it's really well. - Oh my god, I was like, "Whoo, don't worry, everyone." - Well, they think of next. - I'm thinking, Cara. - I'm telling you, it was probably one of the greatest gifts I could have given my mom to know that she has a rug she could pour all her wine all over. I'm proud of you too, 'cause that's good work. - That's really hard to remember things all the time. - Yeah. - It sounded condescending, but I really meant it. - Yeah, no, I felt it. I think we all felt it that like, yeah. It is hard to remember things. I feel like nobody talked about that. I feel like the generations before us never said those things out loud. And so I look immature by saying it, but I really think everyone just needs to hear it. - But you're like speaking truth. - Yeah, you're like just saying something that we're all like hard. - Yeah, why don't we say that ever? You know, why don't we acknowledge that? - It's so true. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, how are you, Christine? How one, how are you two? Why do you drink and what do you drink? And three, I, unless this is the reason you drink, I would like to hear how Leona's doing as a five year old now. - Thank you so much for asking. - That's absolutely why I drink. It's, we went through, yes, we went through the portal. Her birthday is 10-01, and I just love that. I'm like, ooh, 10-01, you know. And we, yeah, she turned five, and she was so delighted and at school, they like, at like her preschool, they like announced it over the PA system. - Oh, she must have eaten that shut up. - Oh, Blaise, like he was like, oh shit, I meant to, like he, if he had known, he would have like taken a video, you know? But so, like the little kid said, like, and happy birthday to Leona. And apparently she jumped, she jumped. Like, he's like, I've never seen her jump so high. Like her knees tucked all the way up, and she just like, yelped with excitement. And she had like, she's really, her birthday party is this weekend, and it is like, Louis and Bingo themed, and so she had like, little Bingo ears, and like a party, purple party, tutu dress in it. I mean, she is a Leo moon, and I've learned about Leona. Yeah, she needs a lot of sunshine on her spot, like, and we give her that, but she's also a double Libra, so she really likes to share the wealth. So when it's someone else's birthday, she's like the first one to like, plan the party, you know? So she just like, loves to celebrate, and she's like, in her element, and her. Sherry and Lisa are in town, so like, she's like showing them, and now she's five. She's like, showing them all the things she doesn't. I don't know, it's really sweet. I'm just, she's just like, and she apparently said, "I get to be five all day today." And we were like, "Oh, you get to be five all day every day." I can't wait to break the news to you tomorrow, that year. I know. You get to be five again. And then she was like, we'd talk her about a half-birthday, and so she's like, "Oh my God, I'm counting down to my. " And we were like, "Oh God, here we go." Yeah, so now she's counting down to the half. It begins, but like we know this, we're a Gemini. We still do this. - We still do this. I mean, me and my, we text each other on our half-birthdays. I literally, I get mad. I know, I'm crazy, okay, everyone leave me alone. I've literally got mad in the past for Allison not celebrating my half-birthday with me, 'cause I was celebrating and I was like, I need you to care, I need you to care. And then when she actually surprised me, she like. - I remember that. It was so fun. - It was wonderful. I mean, that was so fun and cute, yeah. Yeah, maybe we'll do that for Leon as half. That's fine, like a little half-themed. - I, what we've started doing now is we'll give each other half a cake, which means the other one gets the other half. - Or like, you. - Oh, that's. - Or like. - Right, you know how like on an envelope, it'll just say like their name, just like half of it. - Yeah. - It's like. - I like that a lot. - Yeah, it's a good time. Also, like, I know that also makes me sound probably like, I would have not fitted in generations before me, but like, you gotta celebrate your half-birthday. I don't care that you're in your 30s. Like, we need whimsy wherever we can find it at this point. - Just like, find something to celebrate, you know? Like, take Leon's word for it. Just say it over the paces of it. We all get excited, you know, whatever it is. My 34 and a half-birthday's coming up, and I really need to like, get it together. - Wow, oh my god, I almost missed it. - I know, me too, but you're reminding me. - It's in two months and one day, by the way, folks, as we were recording this. And mine is in two months and two days. - Two days. - Yeah. - Well, the problem is that every time, M-tex me happy half-birthday, and I go, happy belated one by one day, half-birthday. I know it's your half-birthday, I just like, forget to text you. But yeah, anyway, wow. Yeah, so that's why I drink because it's like, I don't know. - I just think every time she gets in a level, it's like something more delightful and exciting and she just is a delight, she makes me so happy. - Well also, congratulations to you 'cause that means five years of keeping someone alive. Very big deal. - Thank you, very big deal. - It is in keeping them alive, but also thriving, which, yeah, I'm just really thankful. - The rest is a bonus, I'm just proud you've kept someone alive. - Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just want to brag on the rest, but yeah, you're right. - Like celebrate every level, yeah. - The keeping alive was for sure a celebration. And I feel really accomplished about that. And I love the idea on a couple of my friends have babies with birthdays around this time. And I just love the idea of when people say happy birthday to the baby, and also happy birthday to you as the parent, or the mom who birthed the baby. It's a big anniversary. - It's a big anniversary, yeah. - It's like, you became a new person too. So it just felt like a really nice little portal number 10-0-1. It's like, here we go, five years old. And it is very fun. She's just so fun. So that's my update and why a drink. She loves Bingo and Bluey Bingo, so. - What do you drink? - Oh, I actually have my usual morning jolt smoothie, even though it's now two o'clock in the afternoon, and I just took my zool off, but it's okay. - You know, in our last episode, I had a milkshake at 9 AM, whatever, whatever. So it's fine. - Yeah. - This is a milkshake, essentially, but it has coffee in it. So it's like the worst of both worlds. - Sure, I was trying to help you out, but you know what? - I know, I know. I was trying to also help myself out, and then I said something out loud and went, that doesn't help my case whatsoever. - No, I just hope it's yummy. That's all that matters. And it's Friday for us, so like, that's right. - That's right. I'm very excited that we can still have to make fucking favor bags, like party, like little favor bags. - What's going on that? - Not this weekend today. Oh, I got some goods. I love to make a favor bag. - I made a goodie bag at my, you would make a fucking bomb ass. - Well, a goodie bag. - Thank you. Here's the situation, 'cause again, bring whimsy back as adults. I, for my 28th birthday, I had, I gave favor bags to everybody, and everyone was like, whoa, it's like when we were kids, and they were like things that like, you could enjoy it like as an adult now. Like it was. - Yeah. I've been to places. - Like places back. - It's like stalking at Christmas, you know? It's like, oh, exciting. Like what's in here? - Very California, I've been to a party where the favors, it was literally a goodie bag, and there was like a joint. - Oh, that's cool. - Or like a little mini bottle of booze or something, and I'm like, wow, I mean, I do that for stockings too, yeah, like little weed gummies and stuff. - So what did you put in, for what are your, what are your things for? - Not weed gummies. It was a cliff, I real quick, before that crossover of vocabulary, have Chris Hansen-Moxen or something. - Yeah, like not on my watch. I thought you were interviewing M. - Yeah, I'm in the go. - But I was safe here, you would say that. - So the next clip just makes me laugh, I think about it. I get it, it's very funny. - It's funny, 'cause I was like, yeah, good idea, and then you were like, wait. - He's only ever interviewed one type of person. - Yeah, that would be quite a turn. Anyway, okay, sorry. Oh, I'm putting in, I found these little lollipops that are like bluey and bingo lollipops. I mean, internet has everything for bluey and bingo. I was very lucky because she had some very niche themes before she really landed on blue bingo, and we were like, oh, I don't know about purple and green butterfly with sparkles on one half of the wing or something, and we were like, okay, you know, that's an exaggeration, that's not quite what it was, but I was like, I get it. - Yeah, I was like, okay, we'll do that, but then she said bluey and we were like, oh, my God, that's so easy, we already have half the shit, you know. - I kind of wish that we could be kids now, because we were kids pre-internet, and like the things that you would get in a goodie bag were so repetitive, 'cause it was probably all from the same three stores. Like, I can't imagine that now you can get creative. And I love like the ones where it's just like something kind of like not junky plastery, but I mean, you know, that's fun too, but like when it's like something kind of special, I don't know, like sometimes I go to parties like as an adult, and they have like a little plant, like a little, like for one party for Leonate, like you could decorate like a little potted plant, you know, and take it, like a little succulent. You know, I think that's kind of fun, like something you can use, but I've gotten less, I have less time on my hands and less energy, so we're not doing paint your own succulents, we're doing like lollipops. - It's a great idea though. - Oh, oh, oh, red balloons for keepy upie, you know, like stuff like that, yeah. - Is there, um, did you have a favorite growing up, like the one that you always hoped was in the bag? 'Cause mine was the sticky hand. - I was about to say, of course I bought sticky hands, because, and then in the show, there's like sticky gecko is one of the episodes, so it's actually a sticky gecko, you know, so it's like, it was really fun and so creative. - Well, you know, the people have created them all, and I'm like, you're also clever, you know, so it was fun to like curate it, you know? - I thought you were the one, I was complimenting you, I thought you were the one who came up with that idea. - People were like, had already created all this, and I was like, that's so clever. - Amazing, that's so cool. - Wow, yeah, so it was fun. So I have to make those tonight, which is, what I'm saying is why I'm drinking my morning jolt at like two o'clock in the afternoon, 'cause I'm gonna be planning, you know, for the big day tomorrow. There's like 20 kids coming, and I'm like, what the F? - It's like, I mean, I'm sorry, but also how cool that you're like, you've got a kid who just like wants to have so many friends. Like, I'm so, I just feel, I'm like, oh my God, this is so great. Yeah, I'm so proud of her. - No, that's awesome. - And she's like, so like, just herself, you know? Why do you drink? Slush, what do you drink? - I drink a tea, which came with a pink straw today, which has ever happened, so I feel like-- - Mine is yellow, stalked. - Oh, what color would that make? Like a candle lope? - Oh, that's a pretty, like a melon. Yeah, that's a nice color. Sunset, such a way we probably make brown. But in our minds, it's really pretty. (laughing) I drink, well, honestly right now, I don't know what's going on. I have like a headache. I'm just like kind of feeling kind of luch, so I'm hoping it's not the beginning of something, but everybody has something weird, like congestion right now, I feel like. - As long as congestion leaves me alone, that's my biggest enemy when I'm sick. But mine is sore throat, can't do it. - I hate a sore throat, but I'd take that any day over, not being able to breathe, 'cause that balloon's into four days of different steps of things being constantly uncomfortable. - Yeah, oh, yeah. But no, I just, I have a headache. It probably is just like a normal, like I just probably need to eat some fucking food headache, but. - That couldn't be it. - But so I drink for that. I drink because Hank is really going through a really insane barking phase right now that is not. - So much geo. - And I was literally googling like dog trainers, and I was like, what's happening? - But we literally, we literally just completed dog training. So he's technically a graduate, but he's still. - So what do you think happened? - I have no idea. I mean, he's, I just don't know how to get him to stop. Like I just, I mean, the dog trainer has given us some like tips, but like they're, I was really hoping there'd just be an off switch to this thing versus like, redirecting him. But I know it's like, yeah, I have no idea what's going on. It's something in the air, I guess. - Yeah, no, gee, it's gotten bad. I'm like, you're 10 years old, I thought we really worked on it. Like we worked so hard on it. We really, and I know he barks sometimes during the episodes, but like, I don't know if you guys listen like, he doesn't bark as much as he used to really at all. - No, like lately. - The first few years was a, every time we walked by, we were like, a nightmare. - We could stop speaking and like, just stare at each other and hope he didn't make noise. - And just feel like, one, two, yeah. But now it's like when a train goes by and those old shows were like the whole house shakes, you have to hold all the plates first. - What am I talking about? Nobody knows. - No, I totally don't. - M does. - Totally got it. - Yeah, so I don't know. He just started barking again. I was like, I don't, this is not for me. We really worked on this so hard, you know, and I really did try. - Well, we live in an area that's also similar to you. It's very walkable. And so there's just like, always, I know. He doesn't care about little dogs at all, but I think that's because I socialized him with, we would go to the, we have two dog parks near us and one of them is for small and shy dogs. - Right, right. - At the time he was scared of everything. So he became friends with all these small dogs, but I think I deprived him of getting to know big dogs. And so now every time a big dog comes by, he freaks the fuck out. - That's that, yep. Do you have a similar thing? - And so it's that. And then anything with a really loud motor, like, you know, like those motorcycle or car guys who just fly by, I think it's startles him in his reaction is to just like bark at it. - And that's hard, 'cause, yeah. - But I guess we've just seen a lot of big dogs and motorcycles lately and he just, I'm losing my mind. So. - It's like a Richard scary book. - Yeah. (laughs) Yes. That's exactly right. - That's right. - That might be a more whimsical, if you ever are having a meltdown, you're like, how do I reframe this? - No, yeah. - No, it's so. - Pitch yourself as lowly worm. - Thank you. Just sitting in my apple, my car. - He's rolling around. - I am, but no, so that's why I drink. I also, I'll just say it quickly 'cause we also talk about it in an ad. So I feel like it would be weird to not address it here. - Oh, we go. Oh, thank God, okay, good. - I had a dream forever ago that a family member was going to die this week. - Straight, straight, straight into that. - Straight into this week. This past week. - This past week. - It's already happened. So the person survived and thankfully it was just a dream. However, this dream was very vivid. It was eight years ago and in the dream, I watched this person tragically, tragically violently pass away in front of me. And then in your arms, I think. - Give my arms, you're right. And then a person in the dream said, "This person will die eight years from today." And then I woke up. - So like, look in the face and said, "This will happen in eight years." I mean, it stopped me for a long time. - And told me about this years ago and I was really like, oh my gosh, of course, but then of course at the time it was like, we were like, well, it's so far away. Like we'll never even be alive by then, you know? And now we're like, And M, the other day, like I had not on my radar, right? The other day, I'm going, "Hey, Christine, so do you remember that dream?" And I went, "Oh my God." And I'm going, "It's this week." And I was like, "Oh my God, oh my God, it's happening." And I was like, "I know this is crazy." And I was like, "It's not, it's not, it's not." Well, I literally, I thought for a second about like, you know, I was like, "Do I warn them? Do I say anything?" I do. And then it's like, you said like the back to the future of the like time travel conundrum of like, am I causing it by reacting to it? Am I talking about it? Is it going to mess it up? Is it going to? Oh my God. Oh my God. It's been, for a long time, I just saw like, oh, maybe it was just a dream, like at least I don't have to worry about it yet. Ha, ha, ha. But then like in the last two weeks, I was like, "Oh shit, it's happening." And then all the panic hit me and I was like, "Yeah, what do I do?" Two, which is like of all years that it, like this year, it's like, "Oh, all that's are fucking off." You don't even know what the fuck's around the corner of the little one, like a dream's going to come true. Least surprising thing happening of 2026 firehorses. Yeah. So I was like, you handle that. You do whatever's best, but yeah, but things are good, right? We're good. It's been a scary week and everything's good now. But I, it was, I was trying to figure out like, do I say anything? And throughout the years, by the way, I have asked, like, it's a crazy question. If someone knew when you were going to die, would you want them to tell you, like as a fun hypothetical? And they were like, no, why would I want that? And I went, okay, good to know, good to know. Just taking a quick note. Don't feel bad about not telling them. Great, great, great, okay. But I also didn't want to say anything in like panic them for eight fucking years, you know? No, it's like, it's like, how much do I, and like, what if it's just a weird dream? But then like, I mean, we talked about how you were like, it was like so vivid and so unsettling. And like, you could so vividly remember it. I was like, I don't know. I mean, maybe it was literally just meant to put you on a different pathway. Who knows? I mean, I don't discount shit like that, you know? It certainly made of us too. I mean, to this, maybe it's 'cause I've thought about it for so long, but I have, they say like after the first 10 minutes of waking up, you've already forgotten 90% of your dreams. But like, this is eight years later. I remember every moment of the fucking dream. 'Cause I just think we would just shake him. Yeah, I think we had to record the very next day. And I was like, guess what kind of dream I had last night? Yeah, and I was like, hey, put that in your calendar. Oh, we talked about it. We were like, I already did. I literally said just so you know, on this day, 2026, I'm not gonna be free. Like, so. I was like, yeah, I don't know what the fuck. I'll be up to that, man. It was wild. But so luckily, it was somehow just a dream and fuck me for like my stupid brain creating a horrible story. No, don't, don't worry. It's listening. No, no, no, I'm saying like, truly, like if I can give myself the middle finger of like, why did I just torture myself for eight years? Why didn't come up with that? And for all I know tomorrow, there'll be another dream. It says, just kidding. It was this day. I meant to say nine years. (laughing) Anyway, so I am not as psychic as you thought. That's the take away. I mean, I still think you are. And I think that like this was some sort of weird like you, I don't know what, I don't know. But it clearly had an effect and created its own timeline. I don't know, like you had your own journey with it. Maybe I just changed time. And I don't even know. Who knows? Who knows, yeah. I feel like we were all kind of shuttled into like, just a banking situation when we were like young adults. And then it's like, we don't know what we're doing and now, and then we're stuck. But that's where time comes in. We were so excited to learn about time. Time is changing the way people bank. We always say we wish we had had it sooner, but it is really awesome. Time offers the most rewarding fee-free banking, all with no overdraft fees, no monthly fees, no minimum balance fees. And I contemplated this one for a while because there were a few I was going to pick from but I thought you would probably just want the most ridiculous ones, that's what we're going with. - Yay, why would you think that about me? - Well, so you-- - That doesn't sound like me. - I will say, Christine, you only have a few episodes left, so I needed to make sure that I squeezed in one last ghost adventures for you. - So-- - For me? - And so I watched many of them, this has been an ongoing watch party for me. - That was really brave of you and also so noble. - That's me. - You know. - Well, it gave me a good reason to just watch Zach Reagan's website. - I mean, that's what I did when I was doing that pregnancy. I know we just talked about that. I watched like six seasons straight, just to find like the word pregnant and I didn't find it, but I watched like six seasons. I was like, I'm working really hard and Blaze would always be like, are you working? Are you okay? - No. - Well, so, okay, so you get it, perfect. And I was like-- - I get it. - I know, okay, I already said it, like, technically October, Spooky Season started last week, but I did not know, I didn't pay attention to that on the calendar. Now everything's decorated and like now's the time that I should tell you a ghost adventure story to really kick off Spooky Season. - Oh, we're here, let's do it. - So, this is just honestly, I was trying to find one I could go look up other information on the location. I ended up just going with an episode where all I'm doing is a ghost adventure's recap episode for you. - I am, what did the kids say? I'm sad. - Yeah, I'm sure you're fine with it. But I did plan on doing like a whole set of notes for a location and then I watched this episode and I was like, this is silly and I'll just do this. - Yay. - So this is the Terror on 25th Street. - Ooh. - And it's Season 28, episode two. - Sounds terrible. - It was, you know, I was trying to find one where he at least does something kind of ridiculous and so that's how we got here. I watched it. - Oh, it was hard to find, I'm sure. - It was hard to find one where he did something ridiculous. - I was trying to pick between, would you one scary or silly and I was like, I just want to make fun of Zach Beggins with you one last time. - So, well, I want to do. - One last time on air. So, let's see, this is the Terror on 25th Street and the crew, I guess, is going to be exploring two locations which are very communially, two buildings connected to each other. - This is actually one building. - Okay, but that is communing. - Yeah. - He kept saying two buildings and I was like, it is one building, but he's like, we have to make sure they know it's two. I don't know why, but it's important. They know it's not just one. - Now this is something where I am being a little unnecessarily judgy, but I want your take on it or at least I want your take away to be when I watch another episode, I'm going to keep my eye on this. - Okay. - I've noticed throughout the years as we get closer and closer to present day, something's going on with Zach's voice compared to what's already going on with Zach's voice. - Look at that positively. We can please speak on that. I cannot wait. - I thought that I must have had my playback speed at 0.5 because he was really talking. Is it like a new, we're up there in older episode. - It's season 28. - So he's just slowing the fuck down? - And I don't know if this is like a choice or if it's app, I don't know what's going on, but I-- - Yeah. - And I'm not trying to be as burgeoning. I was actually worried when I heard it, and it only happened for one scene, so-- - I'm so worried. - I really was worried about you, Zach. - He was just oddly slow. And I know we make fun of him for being kind of like, bellowing and all that. But this was just a speed I hadn't heard him at. And then the next scene he was totally fine. So I probably know he was like, maybe like having fun. I don't know what was going on that led to him. - Maybe the editors-- - Being slowed out. - Maybe it was just editing. - Maybe the editors were like, we actually are a little early on commercial. Let's just slow down the Zach role. - Yeah. - You know, they probably do that all the time. Like, just do 0.8, no one will notice. You know, when you increase the size of the periods in your essay to make text longer, maybe that's what they're doing. They just slow down, they're like, no one will notice. - I and I did. - And did, maybe they won't push it too far. - You know. - That makes me wonder like, have they just slow down his voice in every scene he's ever time? - Oh, eight. - And to us that's normal. - Oh, that could just be an effect this whole time. - And maybe he talks like this all the time. - Right, but he's like, I can't, I can't sound like that on them. - Please slow down with the ghosts. - Anyway, I really do hope he's okay. It really did actually start-- - Please slow down. - What? Please slow it down. - I really, I got really, I was like, I hope he's okay. Anyway, he ended up seeming to find every other scene. So I have a feeling that he was probably just really tired or not on the job or something when that happened. But it starts out interesting. So there's that. Before they actually have a meeting with the owner for this walkthrough, the first thing, one of the first things Zach says, oddly slow. - All that I know is that this location is literally soaked in blood. - Literally. - What? Okay. - And I was like, okay dude, so-- - All I know, that's all you know. What are you talking about? You just said it's two buildings. - That's true. - You know that. - I think when he was like, before I go into the meeting with this guy. - Oh, I see, okay. - This person, okay, okay. - So he walks into a bar to meet one of the owners. Jackie. And this is where I'm just like being silly about it. But like, I clearly haven't watched recent seasons of Ghost of Entures. Why? It's all just clearly a set with like dramatic lighting. Like he's not just walking into a bar anymore going, I'm here tonight at this saloon. Oh, they like set up like a whole thing where he sits down and doesn't interview. I've seen that. Yeah, it's crazy. Every shot is like this cinematic experience where like the lights are way fucking low. Experience. Yes, it is. It's a dramatic experience. He goes into this bar. You can tell every fucking person in there was paid to be a background actor. Like that was not just like, well, he probably had costuming for all of them. You know how he likes to dress people up as extras that was there. He loves it. But so it was just the whole thing just felt so overly produced. Like it was like he didn't just go into a bar. He went into a bar that closed for the day so they could set up all the lighting and put on the right people. So that also speaks to the voice slowing down. It speaks to like artistic license, I think, on his part. Don't you think? Like, especially because with all these season centers built, you know, he's probably been given more leeway to direct his own stuff. Sure. Like, I mean, not that I think that like he didn't have a say because clearly he had a fucking thing in past seasons. But like, maybe now he's like, I kind of get to do what I want because like I basically own this channel, you know, like I wonder, I wonder. And I can understand him saying, like, I want it. I could see him saying I wanted to look a little swankier or something. But like, I kind of, I mean, there's a reason all of his best hits episodes. There's something about going into just a bar being like, hey, everybody in there, like, who are you? Are you Jack Baggins? And he's like, yapping it up with everybody, you know, like, and the candy store. And they're like, can you please leave, sir? We didn't invite you behind the counter. Exactly. Those moments are candid and beautiful. They could not, in this episode with the way it was produced, they could not recreate that candy store episode. See? And like, that, that was art, you know, that was art. I have IBS. Okay. I have. Yeah, I don't want my dive, particularly. I have. But I'm trying to, what did he say? It's cut, it's bulking season. So I was talking about one. He made it very clear that he has tummy trouble. No, it's because he was eating sugar free only because he's he doesn't eat sugar because he's fucking Zach Baggins and he's cutting weight or whatever the fuck. Right, right, right. He's trying to get lean muscle mass, I bet. And then he like, anyway, go on. I'm gonna stop. I we're on the same page. So he walks me on bar into the bar, the very produced bar with all the background actors and the only person that was not a background actor was the owner. And the owner tells him that 25th street that they're on. This is an Ogden Utah, by the way, in case I didn't say that. Oh, okay. And so 25th street apparently was quote, the most sinful town in the country, which I guess, depending on the year, might be true, but I feel like everywhere I go, I hear someone say that. Didn't you say about that? I was just saying Newport Kentucky low. It's not since that Newport. Yeah, exactly. It's like, but they were like, we were the original sin city. I'm like, uh-huh, maybe to be fair, Zach baggage, when he went to Bobby Mackeys, he literally talked about that and he lives in Vegas. And he said like Newport, Kentucky was considered just soon. And I was like, honestly, if he said it, I feel like for once, I do agree with what he has to say. I love when we get to give him credit. He's wise for a moment. You know what I mean? He, uh, I guess maybe like, this was a year where sin city was taking a break. And now this is the most sinful town in the country. It could happen. It could happen. Um, but mainly the reason why they say it got so crazy over there is because this was where the Transcontinental Railroad met. So this was the first time that the East and the West were joining. Chattanooga, Tuchu. Sorry, that was an intrusive thought. But keep it in for sure. They're, I tried and it came out anyway. Sorry. Can you do the Chattanooga sound? The, the, to make it sound like a train, Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Chattanooga. Chattanooga. What? I didn't even know that's the thing. A lot of people, if they're trying to, a lot of people, people I went to kindergarten with. A lot of people are doing it now. But I feel like it was, it was a thing on the playground where you would try to mimic a train and the trick was, you would say Chattanooga a million times. Oh, everybody's doing it. Maybe it's because I shared a border with Tennessee. So maybe that, maybe it was just a, it was a spillover for Tennessee. Track 29. Anyway, next time you would impress somebody with your train sounds, you just start saying Chattanooga. Is that not what's happening right now? Oh, right. Sorry. Okay. You're right. All right. I'll say the Chattanooga part underneath. And then you just sing the Chattanooga song. Now that's sexy. It's something. It's something. So, okay, this is when the East and the West join Chattanooga or something, Ogden Utah. Hell yeah. But lots of craziness began because all of a sudden these people are like, not another, they're meeting for the first time. Like there was a full-on wall between them. But now they're able to go in between each other a lot. They're like, yeah, go into, go into each other's towns crossing streams. No horses needed. And basically because so many people were just piling in and out of this area, it just got real nutty. There was a red light district that opened very quickly. There was a lot of, um, a lot of violence, a lot of like bar fights, uh, nutty nutty. And one of these brothels was in the building that they're going to be staying in tonight. One of the two buildings. Oh boy, uh, the madam, her name was Rose Davies. And she opened the Rose Room in the 40s. I like this. The Rose Room sounds cool. Love it. And it was very successful. Um, she was on the second floor of the building. And the first floor, which is the bar that they met in, uh, it was also a bar back then. So it was a bar on the bottom and then a brothel on top. And the owner emphasized, was when she's having this interview with, with Zach, she's like, there were many murders that happened here. Oh dear. And he's like, so it soaked in blood. And she's like, well, there were many murders. He's like, so it's literally soaked in blood. Yeah, but say slower. All right. Sorry. Sorry. So we did. I didn't mean it. I didn't mean it. Let me add it. Let me add it. No, what did you do? Why? I don't. I feel like he's so scrappy due vibes though. Like, I know. Absolutely. Absolutely. He gives scrappy. I'm just like that. I'm so profound. Christine. No, what you're saying is absolutely. I'll carry that with me. Thank you. I feel like he has such a problem with Aaron because Aaron knows his real voice. Sorry. Can you say that a little? I can't hear you through your gas mask. You know, it did. I was like, we're going to get soon. We're going to get so fucking soon. Okay. Finally, it's my last, that's my last hurrah. This is the last time we ever talk about Zach Vegas. Literally, you would be of the show. Remember, we always said, I'm always said one day. His name will just be completely bleeped out of everything. And you'll know what has happened. You'll know. And we won't be able to cover tonight. But please read the room. Please read the fucking room. The rose room. So fucking dumb. So stupid. There's one thing I know about them. It's two things. Not one. Two. Did you tell them it was two? Let me add them. Okay. This is what gets us to no doubt. Like anything. Nothing else you've done. You can say anything else about him. But the second you laugh at him, just like any man, it's over. I mean, the second we mock the voice. Oh, the muscle. Oh, man. Yeah. Yeah. We're in trouble. It's over us. If we make it past this episode, I think we're fine. I think we've done it. I just like, I just like, I just peel over. The government has just, you know, had some implanted. Push him out too much. She knows too much. I thought you were like black smoke would leave and he'd go, he'd go, the final entity. The final entity has left. I've finally been free. I'm losing hearing. I'm laughing so hard. So. Oh, my God. Okay. I think about start crying. Oh, my God. We're going to get sued. I can't wait. I'm sweating. Um, so there's been many times. He's like, let's overproduce this entire thing. That'll help. Oh, no. So anyway, I don't even know where I have anywhere. There's this building. This building, that's two buildings. One is now known as the alleged and one of them is known as the Helena hotel. The alleged, like, that's the name of it literally alleged bar. Oh, oh, bar. Okay. Okay. I see. I see. I see. They're like alleged. I don't know. He's pronounced it alleged. I'm so glad that I listened to him because my first thought was the Helena Hotel in alleged and then he went, "Holino Hotel and alleged and I went, "Okay." I want to-- I want to, and reverse it. No problem. So. Yeah. Okay, so there's the alleged and there's the Helena Hotel. The Helena Hotel is a lofts Airbnb kind of hotel situation and in the basement, there's a speak-easy bar, like a current speak-easy bar. And it's called "Bund." The unspoken. Wow. That's right down, Sac Sally. And for the unspoken and for the alleged to be right next to each other and one of them was a brothel at some point, like this is-- Yeah. He's really loving it. When I went to Eva's wedding, I was so excited because I was like, "Oh, this is kind of a theme sort of, like we were both like kind of on theme with like, "Ooh, it's like kind of disco-y cowboy," like there's just-- it was a fun-- it was a fun thing to dress up for. And so for the trip, I was like, "Ooh, daily look was the perfect thing," because it was like horseshoe cartigan and like the layers. And I am not really able to spend time shopping nowadays because I have other things going on like a child who turned five yesterday. And all of a sudden, I'm like, "Oh, I have all these cute, like, current pieces that I can take and go to on a trip and be like, "Oh, who me?" Yeah. Oh, this old thing that I just got from Esperanza, my stylist at Daily Look, it's no big deal. She just knows me so well. And no, it makes me feel like a cool mom. And thank you for saying that earlier. You're welcome, come on. I remember you're sort of a joke, but, you know. No, I saw you, I think, at the welcome dinner at, and I said, like, "Oh my god, I love your wearing." And it was Daily Look, wasn't it? Literally, I know. I was like, "Yeah, I guess." The owner of alleged, his name's Jared, and he said the second that he bought the building, he thought it was cursed, but, which, like, why did you buy it then? Oh, good. Did you like not see it? I'm pretty sure it's cursed, yeah. That's a classic Jared move. He literally said he was like, they told me that it was in such disrepair that if it caught on fire to just let it burn, and then I bought it. And I'm like, I knew it was perfect for me. So he says when they bought it, he noticed that the stairs between the two floors was fucking missing as if someone was trying to seal up the brothel. So it would just when you were in there, it would look like a ceiling and you wouldn't know there was another room. Oh, they were like no entry to the upstairs. Oh, creepy. So that becomes a thing that Zach talks about is like, why did they try to seal this up? And he looks at the walls and where they sealed up the wall and so obviously they've put in stairs sense, but they keep talking about how they someone tried to seal up the brothel. And I was thinking like, oh, because it's so like, dastardly and sexy and we have to hide it from everybody. He was thinking we have to seal it up because so much evil happened there, I think. That's the vibe that I was getting. Oh, because the demons are all up there, right? So then he thinking like the floorboards are probably like covered in rusty nails and stuff. It's in such just repair. We should let it burn. Just repair. Correct. Right. Maybe the stairs are hell. Hey, the stairs are missing. Let's not go up there. Oh. So it has been renovated since Jared started working there or since Jared bought it, he's been renovating it. And Zach goes up the stairs, the new stairs. He goes up to the rose room and all he says, quick little clip. This is where all the sex would happen. I am sorry. This is a new season. 28. Yeah. It's a new work season. Yeah. This is where all this is. Exactly. Oh boy. Oh my god. It's getting so much worse. It's getting more. Uh oh. I'm starting to get. Sorry. Don't see me. Don't see me. Yeah. Now with that, we're not ready for. So he says, this is where all the sex would happen. And then I'm assuming nobody says anything because the cut, they cut away. They just cut. There's nothing. What else is there to say, frankly? That's probably, I mean, and then they just put a nice little pen and it and just changed topic. So yeah. Now everywhere that people go in this hotel or in this these, this combined building, they see a woman wandering around in a long dress, especially in the unspoken, speakeasy bar. People have worked down there by themselves, which is problem number one. And when they're down there cleaning or whatever, they'll turn around and there's a woman there standing and staring at them or like just darting past the door. Yeah. Cool. Yuck. I'd be like, that's my one and only time I'm down there alone. I finally watched a obsession. Mm-hmm. Did you see that? Well, let's make that our yappy hour. Fantastic. I have seen it. I've seen it twice. So just, just move this some of that spooky perf. So okay. People see a woman all over both the buildings and then Zach, of course, is like, well, why is she over here if the brothel was in the other building? And he thinks now that because that brothel clothes and the whole place was in disrepair, she saw a hotel right next door and kind of moved her business on over to the other building where there are still rooms. And she's like, oh, there's no stairs, but that's not a problem. I'll just fly up there. Float on into the wall. Sure. So one employee also talks about how one time she was walking through the unspoken basement speakeasy. And she couldn't see anything for some reason. So she turned on a flashlight and realized she'd been walking through pillars of black smoke and mist. Ew. Hate that. And then what she didn't know was that there was a plumber who did renovations years before and they interviewed him. And he said something very similar that he was down there and there would be like puffs of smoke in the air that would like almost jellyfish propel themselves across the wall. Gross. Ew, they're like their propulsion of yuck. So there's some sort of like intelligent black smoke. That is so creepy that it like is sentient. Ew. Yeah. Yeah. I think it was black smoke. I don't even have seen so many of these stupid episodes all of a sudden everything's come. Yeah. I mean, that sounds like a good guess. After this interview, Zach, the camera cuts to Zach lying on the sidewalk outside. Oh. Because he feels like he was where the sex would happen. Um, he turned, uh, he said that he felt like he was being stabbed in the stomach. Oh. And he got. As soon as I left the building, I felt like I got stabbed in the stomach. Quite too many of those fucking gummy bears, those sugary turtles. I feel like I'm stabbed in the stomach as like M&M's were falling out of his pocket. Um, it's getting all that sugar free candy. So that was just, uh, had we been saying next to each other when that episode came on, we would have absolutely been like, why are you on the sidewalks, Zach, give up? Oh, my God. He's on the floor. Um, get off the ground. He also said something like, oh, well, you know, that's because there's been so many stabbing and the spa are obviously I'm having residual pain. Um, so during lockdown, Zach tries asking Rose, like the madam, oh, are you now working at the Helena lofts, uh, since they still have rooms and doesn't really get anything. But he then decides, how about we go into a bed and we lie down and we see what we get? So, Zach puts on a, and puts on all of his devices and says, Rose, are you running a brothel in this hotel now? And then the machine spike, then he says Rose, can I lay down in the bed and the EMF spikes? Zach gets in the bed. He throws a shitload of cash all over the bed. Yep. He's been waiting for this to simulate, you know, whatever was what it would have been like. But also if Rose is the madam, she's not doing anything except collecting them. Right. Who does he think he is that he gets to just go into her bedroom or whatever and be like, let me lay in your bed and throw money at you. That's not like, stop it. Like literally a wad, a wad of cash just in like, sprinkle it everywhere. Do it. Right. So then he, while he's sprinkling the cash all over the bed, he asks Rose if she wants to lay in bed with him. Um, okay. I got to be honest, Rose is that girl because she didn't respond to anything. And they had like, yes, the SLS camera on him and everything and she's like, the last time I tried to say no, it went and you got into my bed. So I'm actually going to say nothing because whatever I respond, like that thing just bleeps red. Good point. She doesn't know if it's yes or no. She didn't respond at all and there was nothing that came up on the camera and Zach's out there for a while. And then like you could tell you started feeling like rejected and he later ends up just straight up saying, I feel rejected. Um, and he's like, maybe I'm just not her type. He's like, okay, okay, hey, so then he says, Aaron, maybe you're her type. You get in bed. Let's switch spots. So now he's standing in the room and Aaron lies in bed, uh, is going on with these people. And so get this. As soon as Aaron gets into bed, the SLS camera catches someone laying in the bed with him. This is what sends Zach over the edge because he's like, oh, I feel rejected. Um, oh my God. This fucking baby, come on, let Aaron have some, like you're always player one, you know, let Aaron have some, it's right now Aaron is about to be player one because, um, the figure then begins to move around as if grabbing all the cash on the bed, like the hands are moving around. We're all the caches. What the fuck? And then the figure begins reaching and grabbing at Aaron and then immediately the image the stick figure is laying directly on top of Aaron, holy crap. And then of course, like this is the scene where like if you're gonna this is the scene that made me think, I have to tell Christine about this as the topic, because he loses his fizzucking marbles. He like Zach is, this is a quote from him, whereas Gidey as school boys, Yuck. Woof, he's literally, I'm not kidding, I tried to screen record it and like obviously like there were protections against that, so I couldn't but he's literally jumping up and down and doing this like he's so excited and he's just screaming, she's mounting you, she's mounting him, she's mounting him. Please don't, just stop it. - Reming it. And I will say, if I were there, everyone was giggling because it just looked funny, but he was really just having a time with this footage to jail. - So he's jumping up and down when this thing, so it grabs all the money, then it reaches out to Aaron, then it's laying on top of Aaron, and while Zach is screaming, she's mounting you, Aaron, the figure then still laying on top of Aaron, seems to be moving around, reaches for his arms, and looks like she's holding his arms down while he's lying down in bed, then she's touching his stomach and his thighs, and then the stick figures arms grab the headboard. - So it's not about Aaron being like my- - Player number one, I feel so dirty to say, but like God, you know that's how Zach saw it, and Zach's feeling good right now. - Wow, that is, I don't know how to feel about it. - I do, bad. - I certainly felt like I shouldn't have been watching it. - I wish I didn't know about it, does that help, yeah. - Too bad. - Too bad, too late. - Also like weird awkward moment, like this is clearly before like the drama with Aaron, because then he says like my wife's not going to like this, and I went. - Ooh, yeah. - That's tough, yeah, that was quite, yeah. - But I was one of those things where like you wouldn't know in the moment, but when you hear it later, you go, ooh, whoa. - Right out of contact, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%. - So then they're like jumping up and down so excited that like they're watching this happen to Aaron. - God, ew. - Then the stick figure lays back down in the bed next to Aaron, and literally I don't know how to describe it. It looks like she's stereotypically smoking a cigarette. - Whoa. - Oh shit. - And then at some point like Aaron's holding some sort of equipment, and like Zach Runes over to grab the equipment from him, but because he gets near the bed, immediately the stick figure goes away. - It's like you again? Oh my god, this fucking guy won't leave me alone. - Once nothing to do with him. So. - Seriously. - I'm not trying to say woohoo for Aaron, because it's still like I don't know how consensual if that was. - Yeah, this is all really weird, yeah. - But at the very least woohoo that Zach had a humbling moment, a little ego death on camera. - I agree, yeah, sure. - And ego death and ego death in a brothel, yeah. - So anyway, take that how you will, but if you want some interesting footage, it's certainly one of a kind. - I do. - Yeah, and okay, so that happens. Then later at Nerve Center, where all the cameras are, Zach says, "I wonder if there's any evil in the building "and immediately one of the cameras on Nerve glitches." When they run to go check out that room where the camera was, Zach says, like he stops in his tracks and he swears he saw a woman kneeling and looking over her shoulder at him with jet black eyes. - Ew, that's a very specific thing. - Yeah, so he's like that freaked me out. He then says, "I'm gonna go in that room "and see what I can find." He brings equipment in there and says, "has anyone been murdered in here?" And his camera, like a just a normal flash camera, the flash starts freaking out. Like it's just flash, like a flash. Like it's one thing if the flash doesn't work, but when it starts going off by itself, you're like, "I don't, yeah, that's creepy." - 100%, yeah. Zach also got a seemingly, if the context he's telling us is true, he got a good picture of a shadow figure in a doorway. It's like clearly, very, then clearly not. And then Zach says, "Did I just capture you on camera "and a spirit box in a very old-timey voice said, "no doubt." - Ooh, transatlantic trans continental railroad. - Nope, doubt. - No doubt. - And then he says, "What's your name?" And the voice says, "Can't say." - Ew. - Yuck. Then he's sad. - He says, "Where do you want us to go?" And the, I guess the spirit box or the EVP said, $28, which sounds like a sex worker might have been finishing a proposition like, where should we go? Well, $28 first. - Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, what's the name of the street again? 25th. - 25th. Okay. - And so then they go back to the-- - $28, that's a lot of money. - Maybe it's for a full night. I don't know. - Oh, yeah, true. - I don't know what year it would have been either. - 1940s. - 1940s, $28. - I don't know what prices would be. - Who am I to even say? - But so $28, it was her response to where do you want us to go. So then they go into the Helena Hotel. They hear some weird voices in vague spaces, of course. They hear old-fashioned singing. They hear a door slam. They hear footsteps all on camera. And then they follow those footsteps. They're like, "What the hell could this be?" And they end up at a dead end. And at the end of the hall is a picture of Rose. - Oh my God. - Reminds me of when we were at the Wailey House. And we were like, "Can you show us a picture of yourself?" And it literally, the Dowsing Rods dragged you to. - So picture. - Well, we said, "No, we didn't even say, "Can we see a picture?" We said, "Like, who is this? "Is this Mrs. Wailey?" And I was like, "I feel like I'm eating pulled this way." And then we looked up and we were like, "Who is that?" And you were like, "That's Mrs. Wailey." And we were like, "Oh, fuck." - That was crazy. 'Cause it was like around the corner there. Oh, spooky. - The last two crazy things that happened in this location they have a voice talk to them through their own walkie-talkie. - Ew, that's creepy. - Which like, as you know, we've gone ghostening and we have walkie-talkies. Like if anyone says anything, like you're so unedged, it's just like jolt's use. - And it's like silent. Like you're not supposed to be hearing anything. Yeah, that's creepy. - Well, so, I don't know where their walkie-talkies, they all hear, "Wow, wow." Ew, horrifying. What's that? - I don't know. I could have just been, "Wow, like, science is cool. What is this contraption?" But it could have been like, it's not like a scary sound. - Fuck the science is cool. - Oh, fucking no. And then the other creepy thing is your favorite, the paranormal pachery can like text the ghosts? - Yeah, I love that. - They wrote in a text, "What's in this basement?" And the response they got out of like, 3,000 words rose. I love that like, imagine you're in a basement. Like, it just was a human. And someone says, "What's in this basement?" And you're like, "Christine." Like, you know, and all you need, yeah. - Like, what a weird way to answer that question. Like, "Hey, what's in this basement?" - Me. - Like, "Wah, okay, yeah, someone." - Anyway, that is the terror on 25th Street. I really, I had like three other backup stories, but like-- - But I can love it. - But that was the one where it's like, he's acting like a child. - I feel so special that I got to experience this. - Thank you. - If you wanted to check it out yourself at season 28, but it really, the-- - It is. - Can you describe me do with something that I don't think I realized I needed in my life? - You know what it really is. - It's the puffiness of his chest. - Yeah. - Yeah. - They both have that bravado posture. - It's giving Johnny Bravo. - Yes, they both have the bravado. - The way I yada kind of thing going on. - Why I yada, let me add 'em, yeah. - Let me add 'em. - That's exactly right. - Let me add 'em, let me add 'em, yeah. - I hope he takes that as a compliment. - I think we've ever said, I hope he takes that as a compliment. - Let me add 'em is for sure about like a dead nun. And it's like, why, you know. - But it's like, those are his tattoos talking. Like he just takes a shirt off. - Oh, yeah, he's like, yeah. - Of course. - Let me add 'em. - Anyway, that is a-- - Very good. - That's hot. - I feel special that I got to be part of that. - Thank you. - Yeah, thank you. I'm gonna pee real quick. Then we talk about obsession. I don't even know about yet You know and like think about okay, so I'm not gonna do like a recap because there is no way to recap part one in a simple way I'm so sorry. I just just go listen to part one of the Murdoch murders I'm gonna get into parts you here. Okay, so I'm gonna give you a recap of like the last thing that happened in part one. So you know where we are And by the way for you though, I feel like it's important. Do you want me to rehash anything? Pick it up pretty quick wealthy people who like basically run the law. Yes, I'm on it. There was a car X I'm sorry a boat accident and then One of the young women was killed and they played on Connor and yeah, and so and now Homeboy who we hate all of a sudden like his dad calls and says like oh my wife my wife and kid are dead in the kitchen Yeah, not the kitchen, but for the house. Yes You'll see in just a moment when I quote it. Okay On June 7th, 2021 Alex Murdoch made a frantic 911 call. He said this is Alex Murdoch at 4147 Mosel Road I need the police and an ambulance immediately my wife and child have been shot badly nobody They're not neither one of them is moving. It's bad Alex's son Paul and his wife Maggie had both been shot and killed So when the news broke reporters started speculating that the murders might have been related to the boat crash that killed 19-year-old Mallory and that maybe this was some sort of like revenge, you know, plot by one of the people one of the young Friends involved in this boating accident What happened at that point was that Paul Murdoch was driving the boat intoxicated a waiting trial for three felony charges One kind of DUI causing death two counts of DUI causing great bodily injury And then when Mallory was killed national attention was brought to the family Their century of legal authority. I like how I'm like there's no recap of them So she'll like puts the best recap and we visit and so seamlessly. I don't even realize it's a recap And basically there's century of legal authority in South Carolina like generationally talk about NEPO babies like for all the way down And remember like they have this humongous plot-a-lan where they just let the kids like and boo so much boo they like huge drinking issue in this family that's gotten in them into huge weapons like unlicensed weapons in the trunk There was a part where he flips the car and The the girlfriend calls 911. Oh, he's very abusive to his girlfriend. She calls 911 and the family is like upset with her because you know, they Want to handle this outside of the law so they like take the weapons and flip the car and send them off on their way And it's just a really crazy town. So And the Murdoch's were in trouble, right? This is the context of before this 911 call came in and now And this was like the first time they weren't able to just quietly make it go away even though they were fucking stalking everyone in the hospital and like trying to Get under their skin and trying to intimidate them, but then you know people were like Sorry, we can see this pretty clearly. You can't just say it was Connor and get away with it this time like it's not gonna happen So when someone shot and killed Paul and Maggie people immediately were like, well, maybe this had to do with Malarie's death like maybe this was revenge So people close to Malarie were all being investigated in the wake of the killings Morgan Dowdy was one of Malarie's best friends and she had dated Paul for several years before his death and she told investigators that they should Consider Alex Murdoch in their investigation She believed Alex was capable of killing his own wife and son if he felt backed into a Corner and boy was he ever backed into a corner at this point Maggie and Paul's murders began unraveling years of secrets in Hampton County. So he's clearly well someone's trying to cover something up and It just opens the fucking floodgates. Oh really okay. Mm-hmm juicy. Mm-hmm juicy. All right So just weeks after Maggie and Paul were killed the South Carolina law enforcement division sled Good one of course. I know you got it. You got a you got props for that. Mm-hmm They reopened investigation into an earlier murder case Sled did not share details on how the cases were connected But its spokesperson did confirm that the investigation was being reopened due to information Uncovered while investigating Maggie and Paul's death and that's this following Crime on July 8, 2015 19-year-old Steven Smith was found dead in the middle of a rural highway in Hampton County So this 2015 so this Phone call about Paul and Maggie came in in 2021. So we're like rewinding. Okay, okay, and 2019 was the boating incident So once these two murders happen Everyone starts digging and they're like wait a minute There's this other thing that happened in 2015 that where we don't even really know about so they bring this into the late 19-year-old Steven Smith was found dead in the middle of a rural highway in Hampton County Initially appearing to be the victim of a hit and run Following an autopsy coroner Ernie Washington ruled that the cause of death was blunt forced trauma to the head likely from a vehicle's side mirror But there was some strangeness to the scene. So officers had responded to a 911 call from a driver who had discovered Steven lying in the road At 4.30 in the morning they arrived and observed that Steven was lying in the middle of the road Both of his shoes were like loose, but still on his phone was in his pocket none of his clothes were torn or damaged and the only trauma was to his head So that was like a strange for a vehicle collision They found his vehicle nearby and officers speculated he must have run out of gas or maybe had car troubles and began walking But his family did not believe that because he had his phone with him He was only a few miles away from home and he could have called home like you could have called for a ride or called his family It was weird. He wouldn't have like just like wandered away Yeah, so they know for a fact they said he wouldn't have just been wandering the roadway without texting or calling one of us So convinced that the wrong story was being told Steven's mother Sandy walked the roadway where her son died and she said, you know, there's something kind of weird here No car parts, no blood like it doesn't look like a hit and run She said I walked from where his car was all the way to where his body was and found nothing at all So whether or not it was a hit and run the state highway patrol was now investigating this as a murder case Somehow connected to Maggie and Paul interesting. Okay, and everyone's like what the fuck? Okay, you might have already said about what do we know what the connection is yet or is it just okay? No, they're like we are just Putting these together, okay, and people are like oh dear. There's gonna be some more Something's around. Yeah, yeah, there's more to discover here because When Stephen was killed the community was so shocked His friend Olivia rallied around the family to try and find answers. He was a very Forgot his twin sister's name was Stephanie and his name is Stephen with a pH. So it's Stephen and Stephanie and they're like spelled really similar His twin sister they were inseparable And he was just very very loved especially because he was openly gay in rural South Carolina And he had really had to like you know fight for having the life that he had and he had just like very fierce loving people around him His mother told CNN a lot of people asked well, how was it when he came out and I say well He never had to come out. He never had to say hey, mom. I'm gay He knew he was loved and his choices in life was his choices and he did not have to answer to me or anybody else of who he was So when Stephen died Sandy his mom warned his twin sister Stephanie that she was going to hear a lot of rumors about her twin brother Because he was gay and of course there were immediately rumors going around that Stephen had been you know part of a relationship that was secret and who was this relationship with? None other than Buster Murdoch, Paul's older brother. - I was literally, okay, I'm glad I got my mouth shut 'cause I didn't want to spoil it. But I had a feeling immediately I was like, well, clearly this is a hate crime. - I knew it was a hate crime. - Clearly this is a hate crime. - So yeah, right? It's like it just writes it's fucking self, unfortunately. Steven might have been proudly out and loved by his family, but hey, people who knew the Murdoch's like Morgan Dowdy did not believe they would have accepted any of their sons being gay, especially in a relationship. So when Morgan began dating Paul in high school, a girl actually messaged her on Facebook and told Morgan she believed one of the Murdoch boys was involved in Steven's death. Morgan was having dinner at the Murdoch's when she got this message. So she was with Maggie Alex Buster and Paul. And she asked them why the girl who messaged her with respect to him of being involved. - Jesus, once you read a room, girl, you speak sneaky. - God, that's the guess, guess what though? Did they just fucking say it? - There's a slur here. So she says, why would this girl message me that you're involved in Steven's death? They all started laughing and said we wouldn't kill that if slur. And so that was like the direct quote. So regardless whether like they were even involved, they clearly had like a very shitty animosity toward this person, okay? - Right. - Or toward his homosexuality or whatever you want to call it, whatever they were having some sort of fucking issue with. So regardless of whether Buster was really secretly seeing Steven, the Murdox came up again and again in the investigation of Steven's death. And to enough people that was like, well, these guys are clearly up to no good on every other realm. Why not side eye them for this? They were named in more than a dozen interviews and interviewees expressed concern in naming the Murdox at all because they had such power and influence and they were scary. One person said he was hesitant to share what he'd heard about Buster's alleged involvement because quote, I don't wanna say power, but of the name, it brings a certain standard when you say Murdoch in Hampton County. And now the rumors did not prove, of course, that Buster or any of the Murdox were involved in Steven's murder, but what increased suspicion was that investigators didn't follow the lead at all. They just dropped it immediately. - Weird, okay, and they held onto that and they just never did anything with that or? - They interviewed dozens of people looking for any information about Steven's death, but when person after person said they heard the Murdox were involved, they were like, we actually aren't gonna pursue that. - I mean, it's never touched it. - Am I crazy for thinking they got paid under the table to just stop looking? - Either that or they were like, we don't even wanna bother looking into it. - Sure. - 'Cause we know it's not gonna pan out or yeah, Olivia said she felt as soon as the Murdoch name was linked to the case, the public priority of the investigation switch from finding justice for Steven to then defending the Murdox because yeah, money, power, whatever you wanna call it. And then she said the case just disappeared. The detectives seem to just drop it and it went cold. So in November of 2015, Michael DeWitt ran a story about Steven's death in the newspapers Thanksgiving issue and Sandy pleaded with readers to come forward with any information to bring her family closure. Michael couldn't name the Murdox in the issue without being risking being sued for libel, but who referred to rumors about Hampton County use from a prestigious family and quote, big names. - Okay. - Yeah, so people like obviously read between the lines and thanked him for running this story, making it public. When sled, like years later, right? 'Cause that was 2015 and now we're up in 2021 and now Paul and Maggie wind up dead. So when sled informed the Smith family that a new investigative team was taking over the case, they were like, oh, maybe this will finally get us some answers and not only that, it opened like I said, more fucking cans of worms. (bell dings) - There was always that struggle when I would pick glasses and it was like, you have to commit to them for so long, right? People now, after they're looking into the death of Steven and how this could be involved, people began mentioning the death of the Murdoch's housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, who had died three years after Steven and one year before the boat crashed to give you context of the timeline. - People are just dying left and right. - It's almost as if there's a pattern. Where there's fucking smoke, right? I don't care, it's like there's something going on. So Gloria died February 16, 2018. Again, three years after Steven, one year before the boat crash where Mallory was killed. She worked for the Murdoch's as a housekeeper and a nanny for more than 20 years. And Paul's friends described her as basically like his mother figure, right? Like his mother Maggie was never really like a close mother to him and so as far as his friends explained. And so he actually kept a picture of Gloria in his wallet and nobody else. Gloria's son, Tony, said she loved what she did, her job. She talks highly of the Murdoch's. And her sister said she got up at the crack of dawn and would work, work, work all day. And someday she didn't return until nightfall and worked very hard for what little bit of money she did make, which is like also so sick that they're just running around like, I mean, it's not surprising, but it's like she's like, you know, working herself to the moon. Gloria would have given Alex anything she had and would have given the family anything she had. So with that context, Anthony, Paul's best friend, as we quoted in last episode, said Gloria would have walked off the end of the moon for Paul like he should loved him as her own son. Now the cause of her death was said to be an accidental fall on the Murdoch's front brick steps. Maggie, 191, yeah, I know and said that Gloria had fallen and her head was bleeding that she couldn't get up. Later Alex Murdoch would claim that he spoke to Gloria before she left in an ambulance and she told him that the Murdoch's dogs had tripped her on the steps. - I'm sorry, but like, is it not like the most stereotypical thing of like, oh, I fell like. - Yeah, and then to be like, here's more details about it. It's like, wait. - Yeah, and they actually make a lot less sense. - You're immediately making it suspicious. Yeah, like why would you add how and that she was conscious for a minute and told you about it and then was uncounted? - Yeah, yeah. - Not a very good lawyer in my opinion. - No. - Gloria was airlifted to the hospital, treated for multiple rib fractures, a pulmonary contusion, and an inoperable subdurable hematoma, which is bleeding near the brain. She spent weeks in the hospital where she could not remember how she fell and she never mentioned any dogs. Her condition initially improved, but then she suddenly declined rapidly and had to be put on a ventilator before succumbing to her injuries and infections. And this was like a shocking death to the community. Her obituary said she was a member of World Harvest Church in Hampton. She liked tennis, loved kids, and her favorite color was purple. Most of all, I know. Most of all, she would be remembered for her laughter and her outgoing personality. She was only 57 when she died and was already widowed by her late husband. Morgan said in an interview, I just got chills all out my legs. Morgan, sorry. What did I do? My microphone also got chills all the way up, it's like-- Sorry about that. Yeah, I don't know what that was. Gloria was only 57. Morgan said in an interview that she felt in her heart that foul play was involved. And she's the one who was like around dating, you know, Paul and like, within the family, right? According to Morgan, Alex, the father had been struggling with, wouldn't you know it, a drug addiction. And Gloria had discovered a stash of opiates he had been hiding from his family. Morgan said that Gloria was afraid to go to Maggie about the drugs, so she told Paul about them instead. Oh, boy. Paul stayed home with his dad, supervising Alex while Alex detoxed and went through withdrawals. And the process was apparently miserable. And Morgan thought it was very suspicious that Gloria died the same year that she discovered and revealed Alex's drug use to the family. Got it. Alex Mordak told his family he was going to sue himself For a wrongful day. death, I know, to receive money from his property insurance that he would give to glorious two sons to take care of them. He's like, "I'm going to fall on my own sword and sue myself to make enough money to give to her son to so they're taken care of." I feel really like the craziest backwards way to do anything, but okay. Hey, you want to know how much money they fucking got? Zero. Womp, womp. Fucking zero. Why do you fell on your sword, which I know you totally didn't? Well, he probably did and then kept the money, you know. Oh, right. Good point. It's just like really, I mean, listen, this is exactly what happened. Years past, neither Tony or Brian received reliable updates on the lawsuit, let alone a single cent. Alex's lawsuit against himself was, when Chino had eventually revealed to be part of a larger financial conspiracy through which he had misappropriated millions of dollars through his law practice. And when he was discovered by others at the law firm, he was forced to resign. So this was a huge blow to the family's reputation. In 2019, Buster, one of the sons, was expelled from the University of South Carolina School of Law. So he's like the fifth generation of law. Now his dad fucks up, gets kicked out of the firm, and now he gets kicked out of law school, like they're causing major problems here. They were losing their foothold in the local legacy. And as the investigation of Maggie and Paul's death continued, reports of Alex Murdoch's alleged financial crimes began making headlines. Gloria's sons retained their own attorneys to find out what had happened to the money that they were supposed to be getting by the wrongful death lawsuit. And when they learned that there had been a settlement reached, they expected there'd been some sort of miscommunication like, oh, maybe the money is just being tied up or held in a trust. But when they reached out, they only got silence, so they filed their own lawsuit. Basically they found out that not, Elk Murdoch was not like practicing any active law. He was basically just stealing money. Oh, well that's the price of stealing money. Yeah, I know. It's like, yeah. Thank you for telling me though. Yeah, you're so welcome. I factually confirmed, according to a public statement by Gloria's family, Alex Murdoch's insurance paid out a $505,000 insurance settlement in 2018, and they never saw a cent of it. So how over half a million? Wow. That's insane. Those attorneys met with sled and contacted the FBI about the fraud and like, Alex Murdoch's walls are closing in, right? Because now it's like from, and we see this with family annihilators, we see this. Yes. Totally. It's past seemed, tail is always time. On September 4th, 2021, he called 911 from the side of the road. Like, and this is when I'm saying like, you think like, oh, here we go. And then you're like, wait, what? So let me just say this really quickly, and by quickly, I mean, really slow, like, exact big and slow. But so much in a speed, we'll never know which one's the truth. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. You'll have to figure it out. You'll have to guess. On September 4th, 2021, Alex Murdoch called 911 from the side of the road and said, I've been shot. Well, he shoot himself. That was September 4th, 2021. And June 7th was the 911 call about Maggie and Paul. Right. Just to give you a few months later. So according to Alex, thank you for asking him. We'll get to it. Trust me. I, when you dodge it, I feel really good about myself. Don't save your questions to the end, because they are really leading me into a good direction. According to Alex, he had pulled over to change attire when someone else pulled over and acted like they were there to help, but then shot him in the head. Yeah. Oh my God, that happens all the time to me. Literally. It's like the only thing my mom is horrified at that all-ever experience. I think, yeah, Alex Murdoch and my mother are the only two people who believe in that story. It's the only thing those two people have in common, probably. Yes. Anyone could just come up and get shot. I mean, obviously. And you know what? And they do. And then in 2026, unfortunately, they kind of really do. So. Unfortunately, we're learning, like, at this point, you can't really predict anything. But wouldn't you know it? Exactly for Alex, he was only grazed, like, to just put a flush wound, you know what I mean? So at point of playing gray, she just got nicked. Just like crazy little, like, oops, got a little nicked in the scalp. He was airlifted to the hospital, treated for his injury, but he survived. And you know, media speculated about this, like, pretty medially, like whether, after all, the drama, whether he was, this was random or like, maybe there was controversy that, like, had led to this, like, somebody put a hit on him, who knows. And he considered that someone in his family had harmed might have been seeking revenge. But the truth, of course, is so much fucking weirder, of course, always with people like this, they just can't even like stick to a normal 3D plot. They've got to just fucking like, this is like the opposite of that, like, zebra quote where it's like, it's always, it's usually the easiest answer. It's like, this is, this is the opposite of that where it's like, this is, you're right. Like, like, the most simple thing is, yeah, the most simple thing is usually it, like, think again, think of fucking again. Because soon after the attack, Alex Murdoch's attorney said, actually, we have an announcement. It was actually Alex's idea to get shot. Well, unfortunately for everybody, I already knew that part. You already knew that you were like, I could have ticked off. I could have been on this already. And I was like, was he like, was he too afraid to actually get shot? He's like, just, just make it hurt a little bit. Of course. So he had arranged the attack, this is what his lawyers are saying now. They announced that he had arranged the attack with his drug dealer, Curtis Edward Smith. His attorney said he didn't want law enforcement spending more time on this fake crime instead of focusing on solving the murders of Maggie and Paul. So he wanted to just say, oops, that was, that one's on me. Can you guys focus on Maggie and Paul now? Yeah. I know. That was so brave of him. They claim that Curtis had exploited Alex's vulnerable state in his grief over Maggie and Paul, as well as his addiction and that Alex was an innocent victim. Alex revealed that it was his plan to be murdered by Curtis as a method of dying by suicide while securing a $10 million life insurance payment for Buster. So he, sorry, the male's here. Precious. And my dog has lost his mind. You're going to miss this, you know, like every time, every time, every time, every time my dog barks, I'm like, one day, that might be the frame. That might be the reframe. Oh, like that. Yeah. Yeah. Well, no, I really, every time something horrible happens, I'm like, it could be worse. It could be worse someday. Yeah. Okay. So he goes, yeah, well, I, we're doing it again. It's happening. Okay. So he goes, yeah, oh, well, I wanted to die by suicide very bravely so that I could get $10 million for Buster, my son, in a life insurance policy. Curtis was arrested and charged with assisted suicide and investigators reported that Alex had given Curtis the gun to use in the attempt. Now with Alex still alive and like pretty much fine, but just by, as Cersha puts it, being lightly shot in the head, yeah, yeah, thank you for the lightly shot in the head, investigators move forward, digging into millions of dollars of alleged flaky has abandoned his head and they're like, yeah, but we're still going to like look into this. You know, like about. It's kind of giving us a stomp in the ear situation totally, totally, totally. It's like Trump saw this on Netflix and was like, ooh, I have a good idea. Yeah. Hang on a second. And also, he's like, I have a drug dealer allegedly just kidding. Something can happen. We don't know. I have a ketamine dealer just kidding allegedly. So she stated, let's see. The timeline of Maggie and Paul's deaths Alex, whereabouts at night also started to be questioned and then corner Angela topper contacted sled and requested that investigation be open, not only into Maggie and Paul, but into glorious death as well. So let's get justice for Gloria. She stated that no corner had been informed of Gloria's death. They didn't tell the corner and there was not an autopsy done, even though like this was a wrongful death lawsuit he filed and got over half a million dollars. So it's like in the wrongful death lawsuit, Gloria's death was declared a fall accident. Oh my god. The actual paperwork, it was declared natural. So they just made shit up. It's a corner. It's insane. It's insane. They just do what they want, you know? And is this maybe already said, so forgive me if I'm asking a silly question. But like, is this just the police being sloppy or is this like they're clearly in cahoots and helping cover up and stuff? I think in this case, I'm not sure. I think it was almost more like they just had so many hands. There's so many fingers and everything that they could just kind of manipulate the situation by saying, oh no, it was an accident. And then they just tied themselves up in this legal stuff and said, we're going to do the right thing and give them money and then hoped it would just peter out. But then like as more shit starts happening, like their own family members start dying. It's like, what about the woman who died? Yeah. By falling, you know, and like it seemed like, okay, I guess. But now, because you know, her own sons were like, well, okay, but if the dogs tripped her and that's what it ended up being, we'd still like to like receive the wrongful death lawsuit. Please. Money. Yeah. At the very least. And it's like, no. So not only that, they didn't even tell the coroner she died and didn't do an autopsy rate. It's so evil. It is. It's evil. It's evil. You're right. So the coroner pointed out that the two different causes of death were inconsistent. Yes. Either Gloria was killed in an accident or she died in natural causes. You could not have both. You can pick one. Yeah. Right. There was the possibility that Alex didn't just take advantage of a tragedy. He might have orchestrated it. So now they're going, wait, he might not have just said like, oops, I should file a lawsuit about this. He might have actually planned it. So in June of 2022, investigators announced they would exume Gloria's body. as part of the new investigation into her death. And that is the end of part two, because boy, howdy, there's a lot more. - Whoa, I really thought, okay, holy, wow, okay. God, I thought we were just picking up, and you just left me on such a cliffhanger. - Even handle, it's like we didn't know where to. - It's very, like, an hour. - It really does, maybe 45 minutes, but still Jesus. - No, it really blows me away whenever there is. The fact that there's so many twists and turns in any, I feel like for all the stories that you've told throughout the many years, the fact that there's still ones that exist that can be this of a roller coaster. - I know what's crazy is like, none, I mean, this happened in, I mean, it happened over a series of years, but like the legal stuff started picking up in 2022, exactly. So it's like wall, and I remember when it was happening, it was kinda like Abby Petito's kind of like the Idaho case where it's like, oh, I was seeing this kind of happen and going like, I wanna keep an eye on it, but also with discernment of what's real, what's not. But then of course when something like these people who are these wealthy, out of touch, socially, just, you know, they give you just the ick, just even looking at them, and like that, I could not pry my eyes away. I was like. - I get it, it's fucking people, take them fucking down. - If you were on my feet, I probably would have eaten it up, but it's shocking how little true crime content I get, because I mean, I get all the spooky stuff, but. - Yeah, yeah, fair enough. - I've done a really good job of trying to really not pay attention because I really do wanna be surprised by your stories. And I feel like I heard the phrase Murdock Murders, but I couldn't have told you if it was yesterday or 30 years from now, like so. - Yeah, and I'd wondered because they're, you know, South Carolina and they're like, I just didn't know if you'd like heard of them from that, like, sort of, sphere of the world, but like, yeah, it's one of those things where like, sometimes you'll just say the name and like somebody at, like say, like, I don't know, the dentist, like the waiter would be like, oh my god, I watched that three part, you know, and you're like, - Yeah. - Really? Yeah, it's crazy. - I did feel that way about, wow. - What's it, the telepathy tapes? - Oh, right, yes, yes, yes, yes. - Every buddy on goddamn Earth had something to say about that, and they really did not shut up about that. - I would be like, in a lobby and some go, be like, everybody knew about that one, so. - It'd be like, can you hear my thoughts? (laughing) - Man, Christine, okay, well, I love that you're throwing a three-parter in here, I've been asking a lot of time. - I, it was not intentional, but I just was like, I know if I get to yapping and then continue to do the entire court, it's not gonna be just court stuff because you need to understand folks. The, the, like, we haven't even gotten into what happened to Paula Maggie, like, how, we haven't even gotten into like their bodies, like anything about that, you know, it's like, there's so much shit that's still, and then Stephen. - I crazy. - It's just like, I can't keep track, anyway. - Well, I am excited to tease that our next episode, my story is not, I'm saying three-parter, it doesn't mean three episodes, there's three sections of my story. - Oh good, okay, good, so like, each of them, and I've been wanting to do the topic I'm gonna do for a long time, and I never knew how to actually make it happen, but I was like, this, it feels right now. - Whoa. - So, a triple threat. - I'm very excited. - Yay, okay, good. Oh, I guess we'll see you there. - I'll see you there, and. - That's why. - We drink.
