Dynasty Superflex PPR TE Premium Startup Draft Review

In this episode of Lab 52 at Dynastie Football Podcast, hosts Techmo Weave and WeaponX analyze a recent 12-team, PPR, tight end premium Super Flex startup draft. They begin by discussing the top pick, where Josh Allen went first overall, but they question whether Drake Maye should be the choice instead, given his younger age and higher upside. The hosts note that Maye's value could rise further if the Patriots acquire AJ Brown, potentially shifting draft preferences. In the first round, Trey McBride at 1.09 is scrutinized; while he was the fourth-highest scorer in the format last year, the hosts argue he may be drafted at his ceiling, and they prefer starting with a different position and grabbing a tight end later. They also point out that Brock Bowers offers a younger, potentially safer option. In the second round, Trevor Lawrence at 2.05 is deemed a reach, as he typically falls to the third round. The highlight of the draft is Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb falling to the end of the second round, which the hosts see as excellent value, though they discuss the inherent risks: Jefferson's uncertain quarterback situation and Lamb's target competition from George Pickens. Overall, the episode emphasizes the importance of understanding your league's scoring format and balancing current production with future upside when building a dynasty roster.
Hello and welcome back to Lab 52 at Dynastie Football Podcast. I'm one of your hosts at Techmo Weave joined again by my co-host, WeaponX. Once again this is not Dynasty Advice. This is Dynasty Insight. Oh yeah, for sure man, anytime you talk Dynasty football and you're going through the draft and you know, star ropes, you're just giving your insight on how you see these picks going and I think there's a lot of, obviously there's tons and tons of shows out there, but you know, you give your best insight based on the information you have at hand. 100% if you want all the analytics and the statistics, there's other shows for that. We're just giving you our take on things from real players, real trades, real participation in the fantasy community and hopefully helping anyone that's listening to to make the best choice they can to have the best team possible. And today we're going to cover a recent startup I was a part of and the startup draft. This is a 12 team league. It's a PPR, a tight and premium Super Flex League start 10. To my knowledge, it's pretty standard for what a lot of players are looking for nowadays. You got that extra 0.5 points for the tight end reception, a slight bump in yardage, just 1.ppr for running backs and wide receivers and 4 point touchdowns for the quarterbacks. So that's pretty standard. And we're not going to go over every pick from every round. We may name some of them off. We may actually name them all off, but we're not going to cover every player. We don't have the time for that. And it's really about a question of so you know in a real draft, where are these players going and you know here here's some here's some insight, not advice. So we'll start with the first round here and this just took place. Looks like it started on April 7th and it ended last week. So this is at this point a couple weeks old. But other than that giants and Bengals trade, not a whole lot has changed. Did you see that giant some Bengals trade the next there was a Dexter Lawrence right out a top 10 pick. Yes, I did see that. That's a big trade. Absolutely. I know the Bengals lost Henderson. So they really they came right back and got Dexter Lawrence an absolute tremendous addition to their defensive line. But yeah, that was a huge trade. You don't see them too often in the top 10 like that. But that was that was interesting trading. It was a really fun to see it. Yeah, it scares scares me a bit for. I mean, yes, if you have Jackson, Darn, you want him to get some more weapons. But I hate to see one of the top rookie wide receivers go there and automatically plays second fiddle to Malik neighbors. It really you're just automatically going into a situation where you're sealing his cap. And that really would kind of douse some of the excitement I think for that rookie landing spot. That's if they pick a wide receiver. I mean, maybe it's a slightly more of an arrow up for Jackson dark. Yeah, 100%. It would be really really interesting to see what they do now. They have two picks down the top the top 10. So this is a huge huge draft for them in the future of their team. So I know a lot of people are, you know, across their fingers for a Skatebo, hoping during my love, even either goes before or the Giants pass up on them. It's going to be exciting. We're only a few days here from the draft and it's always a big, big time in dynasty. A lot of player values go up, go down and some panic can start to be driven in and through the dynasty leagues, but it's exciting. It's going to be a really, really fun draft as it always is. Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, this draft from the startup that we were in or that I was in, it started like most draft startup start. And I still feel like he's not, he shouldn't be the number one pick. It's Josh Allen. Josh Allen goes as the one one. I feel like if you're taking a quarterback there, why isn't it Drake mate? And I mean, maybe that's a good, you know, to hear your feeling on that. Now this is, you know, the second time in the last month or so. I've seen Josh Allen goes number one. People seem to think like, oh, he's, he's a young guy. This is going to keep going forever. Josh and quarterbacks, you know, you don't, you don't see them run forever. And when he got Drake May and he's looking really good. And I mean, he's Josh Allen just a handful of years ago, right? He's running. He's younger. He's got the, you know, his whole future ahead of him. And Josh Allen, he's, I don't know, is it, I hate to say, I mean, you can't say that the best years are in front of him. Can you? Yeah, I mean, I think when it comes to Josh Allen, Drake May, I don't think you're going to be upset. Haven't either won, obviously, in the team. I think when it comes down to Alan Goet over May and drafts, I think it's just more of the, the comfort zone knowing what you're going to get currently right now. Drake May has been tremendous. Absolutely has been. But obviously, we need to see him do it for a couple more years for him to be truly established as that tremendous option that you have no concern about. I mean, obviously, the last two, last year was absolutely amazing. I mean, and upside is very, very high for him. We know that 23 is old, turn to 24 in August. And if they acquire AJ Brown, which is start to trend more and more likely as we saw reports earlier today, it's looking highly, highly likely that they do acquire him. And if that is the case, he gets his number one alpha type receiver. And obviously the stock will go up. And I think what if you see startup drafts take place around that time, I think you may start to see a shift between Alan and May as far as which one gets picked ahead of each other, I would expect May to get picked more, more times than a hit on if AJ Brown lands. What do you think about that? I think that's fair. That's fair. I mean, I guess I'm sort of already reading the tea leaves that it should have already been time for Drake May to go first. And I guess maybe sometimes it just takes the news to come out for the reality to set in that, oh yeah, Drake May has a new weapon and people see things. If it's 51, 49 in favor of Alan and it flips, come middle of May. But I've heard AJ Brown is supposed to be a post June 1st or a post June 1st trade. So okay, these trades that are going to start to hit in the middle of June, early July. Maybe it flips at that point. I'd be doing it now though. That's just for me, I prioritize age. Oh yeah, I start up. Yeah, I completely understand that reasoning and I think a lot of people are thinking that way as well. I think when there is the one position you can not worry as much about a quarterback entering their 30s, I mean a player ending their 30s is the quarterback position just because of how much longer they're usually able to play. Like you said, Alan style play can lend to breaking down, but he is a bigger player and he is usually the one not taking the brunt of those hits. He the other receiving end is taking those hits. But again, it just really comes down to how comfortable you are with Alan the next two to three years. If do you think he still has more, you know, a more upside to come? I mean, he's been absolutely amazing. I mean, he finishes within the top four year after year. So I think that's why if someone picks him over May, it's more of just having that comfort knowing this is what I got and this is what he's been doing recently. And I don't really have to worry about it right now. I think that's fair. That's fair. And I guess in all fairness, maybe Josh Allen is the safer pick. He's a safer pick, but you're you're ceiling could maybe be a little bit higher going into the future would drink me. Yeah, for sure. One more thing in a super flex league, obviously, quarterback values are elevated out, you know, and when you have Drake May at the age he is compared to Josh Allen, if Drake may has another very solid year, he's in the top five quarterbacks. Now trade value, always have to think about that. Allen's value will not be any higher. I think that it is currently May's value can reach Allen's and exceed it if he has a tremendous year. So you think about that too. The drafting may add a valent, you have an asset that's going to possibly continue to raise and value as the next couple of years go on. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, you want to have a little bit of room for growth. But yeah, I guess we'll see how things play out over the next month to two months and we'll see if our predictions are right. Barring or dependent upon an AJ Brown trade. All right. The rest of the first round at 103, we had B. John Robinson at 104. We got you mere Gibbs 105. We got Jackson Smith and Jigba, 106 to mark chase 107. Jane Dan.
108, Pukka Nakua, 109. And I remember when this was on the clock, you and I talked about it. Tramik Bride. This is a Titan premium league and for reference, he was the fourth highest scoring player in this format last year. So that provides a bit of context to things. Why Tramik Bride would go 109. 110, you got Malik neighbors, 111, Lamar Jackson, and rounding out the first ground. You got Brock Bowers at 112. Is there one pick in there that stands out to you that you want to cover? Yeah, I think a lot of it's standard. The running backs, the receivers, they're going there usually when we see these drafts. But I think you touched on Tramik Bride there. Not that it's a bad pick. You mentioned the amount of points you had in this format. Obviously, if he's number four overall in this type of format, it's obviously you're going to really be picking hard about, you know, take him at that spot. I just think it's always hard to take a Titan at 109. It just feels like you're drafting him specifically at his ceiling. And I don't know, I mean, we just saw him have quite possibly the best season he's going to have in his entire career. And then I see other players in this first round that they haven't had that type of season where they can actually get a little higher overall in their next couple of years. They can reach a ceiling that they haven't reached yet. I don't dislike having Tramik Bride on my team. Obviously, I just think there could have been a little more value to be had at that pick. And he could have possibly got him. I mean, obviously, Brock Barrett is going on 112. I don't know how much longer he would have lasted if he didn't take him here. But I think there you build your roster and you feel better if you have a cornerstone receiver, maybe a quarterback there, and then maybe get a Titan in the second round. But if you are going to take a Titan in the first round, it's clear as day, it's going to be hours of McBride. No one else. There is no other discussion to be had. It's those two guys. But I would say I would feel not as comfortable with the bride at 109, just because I don't know how much more you can get outside of what he got last year. And I think your team construction just feels better and it looks better if you start on a different position. I tend to agree with that. I mean, I'm just glancing at the stats here. 126 receptions. 1239 yards, 11 touchdowns, and almost 170 targets. We're supposed to assume Jacobi Versette's going to replicate this or you're right. Somehow he's going to exceed this in his age 27 season. He'll be turning 27 near the end of November. You're right. This is about drafting someone at their ceiling. And while I get it, the Titan pool is somewhat shallow for a leap talent. If you're going to do this, and almost I'm a little bit more surprised that people didn't look at Brock Bowers and say, well, at least he's a lot younger. And his situation is equally as bad as as Tremac Brides is this year. So we can assume he'll be heavily targeted in the offense. And he should put up this elite season and I'll have this positional advantage. I don't know. I mean, I don't hate the pick. I guess I'll have to see how these teams do. But in this draft, the top Titans went off the board really fast. And as we move throughout most of this draft here, and it's a 23 round draft. So we'll do our best to only kind of hit some more of the highlights and move on. You'll see that the Titans went really fast. There were there were teams specifically targeting Titans only. So I guess in that sense, this was a smart move, but it is a player at their ceiling. It's also a good reminder. No, your scoring format. Don't just listen to the show or look at the rankings because all of those things can vary. Whether the default for a website is 0.5 PPR is not taking due to who account your tight end premium. You really need to be aware of your scoring format before you start to decide who the top players are. And I mean, that may sound simple, but I think a lot of people may forget that. Yeah, I agree. Actually scoring format. Obviously, it matters a lot. And like you said, in this format, trade with Bob is extremely valuable. But yeah, I think Brock Bauer is trading a bride. It's going to be a discussion for the remainder of the offseason, which one gets picked ahead of each other. But I'm I personally am much more comfortable with them going into the second round. I just think you could start your team with a different player with your first pick. And then when if you go back around and pick McBrother or Ben ours and your second round, I think you're going to really like your roster constructs down a little better just because you're piggybacking with the tight end instead of starting with the tight end. Absolutely. Well, do you want to cover the the second round here? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Second round. The first pick in the second round was Caleb Williams that we had Ashton, Jenty and Jeremiah Love. Trevor Lawrence was picked to a Ford and Joe, Joe, Berth, 205. I'll stop there. What do you see there? Did you see anything out of the norm? I see one. But what about what do you think? Trevor Lawrence, that felt a little bit high for Trevor Lawrence. Yep. Yep. That's what I saw too. I think you could get Trevor Lawrence a little bit later there. I've seen him going third round many, many drafts. But if you want to start, he obviously has the team here. Obviously has Trevor Lawrence. I on his board as far to quarterback goes and he let's see what he got here in the first round. He is a trademark bride team. So he started his team with Trevor, Brian, Trevor Lawrence. I think he's again, I think those players could be drafted out they're sealing while their sealings are extremely high. I think there's just better value at these picks in these situations here. So yeah, I think that's the only one I see there. Ashton, Jenty, Jeremiah Love. They're very, very close in ranking. So I think you're thrilled to get either of them in the second round. I've seen Jeremiah Love pick 101. I've seen them go. I've seen him go more in the 109, the 112 range recently. And Ashton, Jenty, right about where he's at right here. So I don't see anything out of the norm there. Caleb Williams. Yeah. Absolutely. The air is pointing up and a lot of times he's been going to first round. So no issue there if you want to get a killer Williams air in a second round. So 206, we have Patrick Mahomes that Amaral, St. Brown, and 207, then a 208, O'Maring Hampton, Bownix, 209, then we had JJ, Justin Jefferson at 211, CDLAM, and at 211, I mean, Justin Jefferson, no, St. was 210, my mistake. 211, CDLAM, and then 212 was Jalen Hertz. A little run there in receivers. Obviously, some elite receivers there. Amaral, St. Brown, Jefferson, and CDLAM, extreme value, I think, for either LAM or Jefferson there, end of the second round. That's really, really a strong value for them. I think that's what for me, that's what I see that points out the most, and that sticks out the most is that Jefferson and LAM, you're able to get them at the end of the second. So you're talking the 23 number 22 and 23 overall player to draft. I think that's really different for this guy. That's, that was what stood out to me in the second round here at LAM and Jefferson at the 10th and 11th pick. Certainly, the fantasy pros mock draft programs didn't see it that way. Those, they were always consistently first round players, and they have been for the last few years, but, you know, after this year, I mean, another going to be what, you know, let's take a look here. I believe they're both in their age 27 season. Yep, turn in 27 and June, and he already turned 27. Okay, so both will be 27. Next year are going to be 28. I would tend to think that, you know, maybe this is a foreshadowing a year from now, that can you really justify a number one pick or a very, very early second round pick of a startup on a 28 year old player. I don't think you can. I don't really care who they are. Because once again, that's all part of the startup. You want to have some runway to keep these players or at least for their value to to grow or for their, you're not going to, you don't want to hit the age cliff right away. So no, on one hand, it's a tremendous value. On the second hand, it feels like a passing of the guard that these two kind of cornerstone players have now fallen into the late second, but I'm sure this may not be a reflection of other startups. I would tend to think some people may just look at Justin Jefferson and CD Lam and say, "Hey, I'll take the wide receiver one season, JJ, that he had one down year." You know, of the two who's more risky, CD Lam or Justin Jefferson, I mean, I would imagine it's clear that it would be Justin Jefferson, right? If you had to pick one of them,
the two here and you have that pick, which older wide receiver are you going to take? Justin Jefferson or CD Lamb? Yeah, I mean, a risk wise, risk wise, you had Jefferson just because of quarterback situation with Dallas. We know who the quarterback is and we don't have to be concerned about that at all. I just think, man, I just think the body of work with Justin Jefferson, I think with one down year, if he, we've said it before, if Justin Jefferson even gets average QB play from whoever it is this year, assuming it's going to be Colour Murray, even if it's average, I think we're going to, we're going to see Jefferson bounce back. I just think we will. And I think with CD Lamb, on the other hand, he is starting to land in his spot in a lot of startup drives. I've noticed I know the one we were in a few weeks back, he was more of a later second round pick as well. Justin Jefferson, I think, has been going much earlier than what I've seen here. I would say earlier in a second round, maybe in the two to two, five range. I've been seeing him a lot. So I think based on, you know, relative to the other startups that I've been seeing, I think this is decent value for him, more risk on the Jefferson side. But I think the body of work, I'm betting on Justin Jefferson if he just gets average QB play. Yeah. And he doesn't have to compete with most likely George Pickens. We'll assume that Jerry works out something with George and it's a, it's a, it's a okay. Yeah. And that's a, that's the thing about CD Lamb. I think CD Lamb is an outstanding player, but there wasn't, there hasn't been a time that he's had a George Pickens, you know, type of talent across the side. You know, we, so we know what Pickens can do. We know what he can do when he's featured. So let's see how that works out now this year. Now it's going to be year two with them together. If they are, you know, if they're able to play healthy all season, let's see how those targets divvy up. They're going to throw the ball out. So there's going to be enough for both. But when you have CD Lamb in previous years, you were counting on that high target value. Is it going to still be there? We're going to find out coming up. Yeah, definitely, definitely. Well, that closes out round two. I'll cover round three now. And you and I've talked about this. It starts to feel like these are the rounds where it, there's just a lot of value to be had that if you wanted to, you could trade down into these rounds. And some of these players certainly have wide receiver running back, quarterback one upside to them. There's a lot of excitement with players in this range. And I think that's because there's, we know we haven't seen their ceiling. When you draft a player in the first round, you feel like you've seen their ceiling and you say, I want that player. These are players we haven't seen their ceiling or me, who knows, who we have. Time will tell. But at three, one, you got Drake London at three, two, you got Ted McMillan, three, three, Justin Herbert, three, four, he got Devon H Ann at three, oh, five, you have Jackson Dart, Colston, Lovelin at three, oh, six Tyler Warren at three, oh, seven. As I said, the tight ends were, we're going fast. Three, oh, eight, Brock, Purdy, three, oh nine and mecca, EG Boca, three, ten, you got George Pickens, three, eleven, Luther Burden and three, twelve James Cook. I'll let you, you pick pick one player and one pick and we'll talk about him. Wow, there's a lot of this round. There's a lot of this for I really like the beginning of the round. The first two young up and coming receivers. I mean, Drake London's had a few few years in his career, showing what he can do. Ted McMillan, obviously he's rookie year to put a thousand yards up in that situation was, you know, that's a cute as they hit him. He had a really good year. Bryce Yonge, if he can develop a little bit more, you know, we know Ted McMillan doesn't have much as far as competition, but we'll see what happens and maybe they draft someone. We'll see what happens there. But I think the pick that stuck out the most for me in this round, I would say, this is George Pickens, three, ten. I'm just going to say him because when you think about it, you can get George Pickens, basically a full round later than CDLAM. I like that value for George Pickens because look, we just talked about it. Who is going to be the target leader there? We don't even know that. It could very well be CDLAM, but George Pickens is not going to be lagging that far behind. So getting him a full round later, and he's younger and we all, we were very confident. I'm very confident. I think Jerry Jones will sign George Pickens. That's his type of receiver. Man, he likes these types of receivers. I think he's going to sign him long term. I don't think that's going to be a problem. So if you get George Pickens at three, ten, and I see in the draft we were in, he was picking much earlier than that. So yeah, George Pickens, three, ten, in my opinion, is my favorite pick of this round. James Cook, very, very closely behind him as far as value at three, twelve. Yeah, I really like the James Cook, three, twelve pick there. Yeah. Really? Start at the fourth round for a guy that, you know, I don't know, I'd have to see where he ranked for running bags last year, but he's got to be like top five. And to get him at the start of the fourth round, I mean, you already should in theory have, well, I guess, okay. It's the three, twelve. So you'd only have two other players. That just to me seems like really good value, especially when you're ranking him ahead of players like Tyler Warren. Now Tyler Warren, maybe we're picking him because we saw all the tight ends go, he's young and you, you see the future runway. But in the near term, what Daniel Jones, I mean, what are we expecting with that they're not going to pass to anyone else that they're not going to just run the ball with Jonathan Taylor, that they're not going to air it out to Alec Pierce. You know, he's the new Tarell Owens of the Indianapolis Colts. Like, no, no, they're still going to spread the ball around. And to get a guy that could easily be your RB one at the three, twelve, that's a tremendous value. Yeah, yeah. I just want to just pick it back on that. Yeah, James Cook at three, twelve. That's like I said earlier, you know, pickings was my favorite of this round, but James Cook, three, twelve. I mean, we're talking about a consistent top five running back right now. A guy who's going to, he's going to be in the top of the league and carries. He's going to not worry about his workload. He's going to get the work. He's going to get the goal line work. I know Josh Allen gets a ton of Russian tonsounds, but there's plenty to be had. We've seen that was see when they could do there in the red zone in the goal line area. 280. He had 39 carries last year. That was his first year getting that full load and look what he did. 1621 yards, 12 touchdowns. They gave him that opportunity and that's what he did with it. I think you're going to continue to see that turns 27 in September. But I think when you look at early in his career, he wasn't getting tons and tons of work. So he's not overworked right now. I think that's a, you know, 27 years old, is 27 years old, but workload wise, there's less of a concern than maybe a guy like, you know, say a guy like Ashen Gentie gets 300 carries for the next three years. You're going to be a little more concerned when he gets to 27 than you are James Cook right now. Agreed. Agreed. And on the flip side in this round, while I'm excited about anyone about Luther Burton and his opportunity that he's going to have to shine in Chicago this year. But I don't know this is just and I get it. You know, people go into drafts with different attitudes, right? I'm going to, I'm going to punt this year and I'm just going to draft back and I'm going to take guys with high upside or I'm only going to draft rookies or I'm going to draft all that I want to be competitive right away. It just doesn't seem to me to be the place to be drafting Luther Burton. That this is a I really want Luther Burton. So I'm going to draft him a full round earlier than he should be going. And I mean, I guess if he, when you draft him at this value, you're forcing it that it has to be you had to pick right and that he ends up as a high and wide receiver to low and wide receiver one because you're drafting him in between George Pickens and James Cook. That is the type of player you're saying Luther Burton is going to be. That just doesn't seem to me to be a smart move. This is overdrafting a player. When you've only seen one season, we didn't we didn't see anything last year that was he didn't produce that 1000 some yard season 10 touchdowns. That doesn't mean he can't, but it just seems it's premature to be drafting a player like this at this position. You wait around and a half later and if he's there, great, but the vet, this was poor value drafting. Yeah, yeah. And I've seen that a lot recently with Luther Burton. He's big head and picked it in this range right now. And that's this just bringing up his ADP more and more as the as the weeks. So now you pretty much like if you want him, you're going to have to take him at this value. When early in your off season, you may have got a little bit better value, but now his steam is picking up. The hype is picking up. You almost have no choice. If you want him, if you're a huge luther, Luther Burton guy, you're going to have to pony off and pick him this on. It's just what it is right now.
I guess so. And drafts like this don't help. They don't help the ADP statistics. I'll let you take round four. All right. Round four started out with Nico Collins. Harold Fanon went forward to Jordan Love for three. Four four was Lyd McHunkie, four or five Kenneth Walker, four or six Jonathan Taylor, four or seven Chris Olave, four or eight Breesall, four or nine Garrett Wilson, four or ten, Rashee, Rice, four or eleven Christian McCaffrey and then four or twelve. Carnell Tate, rookie receiver. All right. Well, I guess it falls on me, which one stands out to me the most? I can't take Christian McCaffrey here. I just can't. I can't take him here at four or eleven. When when I look at players that are a little bit after him, you have, remember this is Titan premium. You still have Tucker craft on the on the board. You still have Travian Henderson. Let's take a look here. I'll keep scrolling down into the fifth round. Got McCye Lemon. You got Chase Brown. That's a, you know, when I said you don't want to take a guy, you know, do we take a 27, 28 year old in the second round? They will probably not if they're 28. Do you take a guy who's going to be 30 in the fourth round? Does that make sense? I get it. It's Christian McCaffrey and he may do this and he may do that. But at the end of the day, he's still 30 years old. And he's not built like Derek Henry. You know, you can't teach size. And I know that efficiency wise, Christian McCaffrey was actually pretty poor last year. And you, I'm sure you've seen some of the same statistics about him. But I mean, so much of his value was prompted by his 102 receptions. I mean, that that'll help any player. I just can't, I can't justify in a dynasty league taking Christian McCaffrey at at 411. Yeah, I know you think it's going to supercharge your team. But for how long? You know, I mean, unless you're all in and you're once again that us reading these players off, it doesn't give the narrative of each team. It really, it truly doesn't. That that would take too much time. So we're really just looking at this based on value and the picks. I just don't like the value here for Christian McCaffrey. It would be like drafting Matthew Stafford in the fourth round. And you say, well, he's going to be a top, he's going to be a top five quarterback. He might be a top three quarterback. I can draft him in the third round. I don't care if he's only going to play a year or two, but you wouldn't do that. So why are we doing that with Christian McCaffrey? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the value. I don't love the value. Like you said, I understand. I understand why someone will want to do it. Just just for the sake of this conversation, I think I did go through the players that he picked first round. He picked Lamar Jackson in the second round. He got asked and genty third round. He got tepnic millen. So I don't know. Maybe his thinking here in round four was to possibly get a veteran productive player to go along with his young core. The young Corey has a receiver run event. Maybe he just wants to insulate that production and go for Ron here. I mean, that's a really good start production wise in the first four picks. He has an absolutely tremendously productive team off the bat. But it is a risky pick when you're getting in the fourth round. I think the fifth round is more where he's been settling. I mean, this is end of fourth. So it's not. It's not out of the norm. You know, I mean, it's not crazy to see him picked here. I don't love the value that much. But, um, yeah, I mean, Christian McCaffrey, Christian McCaffrey, will he be the outlier darec Henry type player where he can give you three more years. At this level, if he does, this is going to look like a really good pick because because the team he has already, I mean, there's only four picks in, but the team he has this could this could be a strong player for his team right now. But yeah, Christian McCaffrey, like you said, his production obviously was buoyed big time by the reception. His efficiency was not good. And I saw a lot of games of Christian McCaffrey. I saw a lot of him, a lot of his rushing attempts and it just just didn't seem like he had that burst. You know, like the, the, the burst that he had early in his career was very noticeable. And the long runs he would break off absolutely ridiculous. He just didn't have that this year whether it was at the blocking was he just didn't, he doesn't have that initial burst as he did earlier. I don't know, I don't know. I wouldn't say that necessarily because he definitely has that when he's receiving the ball. But yeah, that's that's he's a player that's definitely very much debating as far as where he should go. Yeah, yeah, value wise, it's value wise, I would say right now, just based on his ADP. It's it's a wash. It's not like way higher than normally is. It's a little bit. It's a couple spots higher. I don't know what I'm seeing draft wise, um, start draft wise, but yeah, I mean, I just think when you can insulate your production with a guy like that, I think that it makes sense in that sense. Yeah, I, it's not a move I would make. Yeah, but looking at much time we got left here, we're at a 35 minutes right now, so you have about 25 minutes, considering this was a 23 round draft. So, realistically, you know, do you really do any of the listeners care who people are who's getting picked at round 19. I don't think so. So I think we should set a goal. Let's try to get to round 15 go through round 15 because of the two drafts. One I was in with you and this one seems to me once you get around round 15. It's not as exciting things start to slow down, but there's value to be had. So with the next 10 rounds, let's just try to pick one topic. If I read them off, you pick the topic. If you read them off, I'll pick the topic and then that way I think we can get through the next 10 rounds. By the time we hit about an hour. All right, so I'm going to read here fifth round and then you get to pick the topic and remember to this was a draft. We're picking the rookies. By their name without a landing spot. So that made some of the value made it a little bit more interesting at 501 for an and a Mendoza. At 502, you had deck press got at 503, traviant Henderson 504, Roma, Dunes, a 505, Tucker craft 506. You have Kyle pits 507. You have McCoy lemon 508 Jared, golf 509 chase brown 510 cam ward 511, you have Marman Harrison, Jr. And 512, you have Kyron Williams. Yeah, so I'm just looking at this round. I've noticed a couple things here. What do you think in this round? It is the who do you think in this round is the player that will return the most value when you're looking at your roster this time next year. So who's going to be worth more a year now that relative to where he's being picked currently right now and based on you know what we've seen so far in their career or if they're rookie either way. Who do you think will return the most value next year if you're going to try to trade them or if you're just going to keep rolling with them. Okay, well, remember this is in the universe for trademark bride is the top four score. So I'm going to off the bat. I'm going to rule out for Nana Mingdoza and Jack, deck press guy. And I'm a do and say that's not a bet I would want to make that he's obviously going to be the guy. Um, McCuy lemon. We don't know where he's going to be. Dear golf same thing cam ward no. I guess I would have to say between Kyron Williams. Travian Henderson. Yeah, and maybe chase Brown, but I'm here and chase Brown might not be safe and Cincinnati. But imagine chase Brown has a top five season similar James Cook. I would imagine he bumps up around maybe around in a half instead of being picked at the 509. I don't know if Kyron Williams is ever going to shake the the the the I guess the narrative that he's his job is in danger. I mean, when you see him and you see analysts say they'll say he doesn't really do anything special. It's just a really good situation and he's good enough to do the job. How Sean Nick, they want him to do it. So I don't know I guess I would put it between those three running backs. I can't imagine cam ward. That's not a bet I want to make the cam ward's going to take the step or Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to turn it around. McCuy lemon depends where he goes. I mean, a guy like Tucker Kraft, he could certainly in this type of scoring format. He could bump himself up around to so he'd be the only non quarterback or excuse me.
non-running back I would put in that conversation. How about you? Yeah, yeah. I think Tucker Kraft was one that really stuck out the most, especially in the scoring format. You mentioned where the top two tie ends way and then we saw Tyler Warren as well going to third with Colson Loveland. So if Tucker Kraft has the type of year that some of those guys had last year, you can see him Elvie to the third round. I think he could be the biggest jumper if you did this draft all over again next year. If Tucker Kraft has, you know, say a 95 cats for 13 on your yard season, which is very light. I mean, it's possible. Definitely can happen. But if you guys have that type of season, he's a third round pick in this format. So yeah, Tucker Kraft for me would be the guy I think could gain the most value of the players in the fifth round. That's fair to me. I'll let you handle round six. All right, round six. Our favorite player, Zay Flowers, a Mario star. Hey, he was in the, he was in this draft as well. I can't believe he didn't draft his guy. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. He was only a couple picks away. He picked Marvin Harrison Jr. over Zay Flowers. I'm very surprised. Maybe he wanted to mix it up, but I can't believe he didn't pick the best. He had the best more dynasty football. He didn't pick it. I can't believe he picked two exciting of a player. I said, Zay Flowers of 601, Quinchon, Junkin, 602, 603 with James Williams, 604, KC Concepts, Yon, 605 was a tech, but we've special Baker Mayfield, 606, Sake Wong Barkley, 607, AJ Brown, 608, CJ Stroud. 609 was Daniel Jones, 610, Travis ETN, 611, Devonta Smith, and to round it out of Mario star, ended the round six with Brian Thomas Jr. Yeah, when I look at this list here, I'm like, well, okay, which one do I want to talk about? It feels like overdrafting KC Concepts, Yon. Once again, who knows? Depends on worry lands, but up until this point, we watch and consume as much fantasy media as anybody. Nobody is saying, oh, because no one is hyping up this rookie class. Very few people, it's the top three wide receivers, and then there's a tear break. It felt to me maybe this owner got kind of looped into the Iwana rookie, so they took a rookie before safer players like Baker Mayfield, or this is the type around I feel that Christian McCaffrey should go in, because it's the round, Sake Wong Barkley went in, and if you're going to take Christian McCaffrey, why is Sake Wong Barkley around two rounds later? He's younger, and he's going to give you the same, you're hoping for the same outcome, right? You're hoping for that 2,000 yard season, you know, at the very top of the ceiling. But to pick a player to talk about, well, I guess we talked about him a lot before, and this was a Mario pick at the end of the round. Brian Thomas Jr. Yeah, no, I get it. He's not going to fall a whole heck of a lot further. And if you hope he's going to recover, you've got to, unfortunately, you have to invest a pretty decent price. That, you know, this can be what a future first goes for. A future unknown first might get you a six round pick, maybe something in the fifth. So that's what he invested in, Brian Thomas Jr. By picking him here, and once again, it's all about team construction, and I know he went with high upside young players, not looking to be competitive this year. So this was a gamble pick. So it makes sense with that mindset. But once again, is a good value drafting. I mean, I guess if you put your money into a volatile asset and you hope that it's going to recover, it's just what is how does the road to recovery look for Brian Thomas Jr. Well, I would imagine it's Travis Hunter plays very little on offense. They somehow we just forget about what happened last year. I don't know. I guess that's the big question. What happened to Brian Thomas Jr. last year that he was not effective. I guess we can assume maybe it's an injury that's usually what it ends up being or at least with the the team will tell us, oh, they were playing injured last year. And I've seen that we do penalize players for playing injured versus just sitting out. You know, nobody faults Malik neighbors for not playing. But if he went out there and played poorly all year and they're like, well, you know, he just tore his ACL and people would say, well, you know, we would be more disappointed if you played injured than just not playing at all. I don't know. That's the only pick that kind of stood out to me in this round. That in the Saquon Barclay, I like where Saquon Barclay was taken. I think that's appropriate. Fourth round for CMC, not appropriate. And if you need to do those types of picks, they should have been flipped. Barkley should have been in the fourth and CMC should have been in the sixth. Yeah, yeah. I mean, when you look at Barkley going to pick 606, yeah, 100%. They shouldn't be that far apart in any dream. So you know, incredible value for Saquon Barclay. And honestly, I think a BTJ at pick 612, I don't mind that value as well. If you're banking on a bounce back, I mean, his ADP currently is 44. And that's way lower than he was heading in the last year. So obviously his ADP has dropped. This is DLF ADP. It has dropped a ton. But I mean, we're talking about a guy who's still in 23 years old. And he's had very down year. It was very confusing. Obviously, it's confusing. There's a lot of things that are going against him right now. But I don't mind that value. You know, the end of the sixth round. It's not, I don't feel like that burns you. I don't really think it does. And there's one other pick the pick right before him. I really like the Vanta Smith at 611. I mean, that's outstanding. That's outstanding value for the Vanta Smith, especially if Adrian Brown is if he gets traded. I mean, the Vanta Smith, the number one receiver in Philadelphia, that's an incredible value for him at 611. And he is a productive receiver as it is. We don't have to wonder if he's going to be productive. He is already. But now he's got a chance to be a little more consistent with his target volume, expected to go up if he is the number one. So I like Smith there at 611. Yeah, I like it too. I like it too. And once AJ Brown gets traded, it'll be too late than the cats out of the bag. So if you think it's going to happen and you don't, you're not scared off because I think the Vanta Smith is going to be what 28th this year. And you're okay with having two, two years maybe, you know, maybe it's three. You're okay with that and that, you know, he's going to get phased out for the new new player. Whoever that is at that time, if you're okay with that two year window and you feel like you want to have an elite wide receiver one on their team in a good offense. It certainly isn't, you know, who else are you going to get in the seventh round? Excuse me, the late six round. But moving on to the seventh round, we got at 7-01, I got Bucky Irving, 702, Sam Laporta, 703, Jordan Tyson, 704, Javante Williams, 705, Sam Darnold, 706, Kyler Murray, 707 T Higgins, 708, you got Kenyan Sadeek, 709 Tyler Schuff. So I guess we had a run on quarterback this round. 710, you got Jalen Warren, our excuse me, Jalen Waddle, 711, got Malik Willis and 712. You have Josh Jacobs, what sticks out to you? Who do you want to talk about in round 7? I mean, it's really what, like you just mentioned, it's really the run on quarterbacks that I see here. And that's an unnecessary, I think you're going to see that sometimes in these leagues. But other than that, I think the one guy that sticks out to the most to me, probably, I mean, probably T Higgins, T Higgins at 7-07, I think as far as a guy that's, he's not the most exciting player to have on your team. But he's also as a Y-Vasey or two, or I'm assuming this team, it's maybe his Y-Vasey or three. I mean, that's not a bad pick. That's not a pick in the round, say the middle round 7, a guy who's going to get targets. He's playing alongside Jamar Chase, he has an elite quarterback on his team. I'm looking right here. I know he's not young anymore. He just turned 27. So he's entered his age 27 season, so that's not a terrible. Obviously, he's not the model of health, but when he's on the field, round 7, pick. It's not a bad pick. I don't think that's a million selection there. I think T Higgins' scores are, return some value there in the middle round 7. Definitely not where I see him in some ADPs. I wouldn't drive them round 4 or 5, which is where I've seen earlier in the all season, but round 7. That's a safe spot for him. Yeah, I think that's true. I don't have any reason to contest that. As FYI, we got about 10 minutes if we're going to hit our one-hour deadline for the show where we try to keep it within an hour to make it an easy listen.
So I'm not sure if we're going to get to round 15, but we're going to get through some of the at least the first 10 rounds. Those are your starters, right? This is a start 10 league. I think the goal should be to get through round 10, which is definitely, definitely possible here. So I'll just start round eight. I'll start round eight here. 801, around a Gatson. 802 was Omar Cooper, Jr. 803 came, Skatebo. 804 was Jake Ferguson. 805, Bryce Young, 806, Denzel Boston, 807, Darekendry, 808, Alec Pierce, 809, Wondell, Robinson, 810, DJ Moore, A11, Zach, Sharbonne, 812, Jordan, Anderson. All right. Yeah, I'm going to ask you a quick question for this round. What in your opinion in this round, which player, which player could be impacted by the draft the most in this round and how will it affect their dynasty value? I'm not going to let you pick, Cam Skatebo. You got to pick someone. Oh, no, you're not letting you pick them. That's too easy. You got to pick someone else because there are a couple players in this round that could be impacted. And it could be a rookie too. You could also pick a road. Oh, okay. I thought it was going to be like the dynasty advice where-- No. Yes, this week you do want to start B. John Robinson. You know, if you have, you got to start of this week. Yeah, not going to solve all Cam Skatebo question. No way. Everyone's heard that question millions of times already. Okay. Who's going to be most impacted by the draft? And it's not Cam Skatebo and Jordan Lobs. Jordan Lobs eclipsing him and making him-- I've never heard they call him. He's the new Tyrone Tracy. That's exactly what he would be. He'd be the new Tyrone Tracy on the same team. Yeah, I guess I would say the only player that has a prominent role or were imagining a prominent role or when you're drafting them, which is still relatively high, it's got to be Zack Tarbinay. You know, NFL, it's what have you done for me lately? And we know they're going to draft someone. They're going to draft someone to fill in for the departure of Kenneth Walker. And Zack Tarbinay coming off an injury. And that's imagining somehow he starts the year. I heard that he's not going to start the year. They're hoping he comes back sometime during the year. This is how players lose their jobs. And all the sun say he comes back week seven and it takes him to week 11 before he's in game shape. And they go out and they get Mike Washington. I don't know, I'm just picking a random random guy. And all the sun, he just ignites in that offense. Zack Tarbinay's value goes in the gutter and Seattle goes, we're going to go with what's working. We're not going to rush the injured player back. We don't want him to be like Jonathan Brooks and get injured again. That's the player. That would be most impacted potentially by the draft. Yeah, I'm comfortable with that that people think right now I'm just going to hang on to Zack Tarbinay. It'll be cool. His job is safe. It'll be like the injury didn't happen. No, you can have a rookie come in and play like Buck yearven did a couple years ago. And all the sun, you're your old hat. Nobody remembers you. And the coach wants to win and the team wants to win and your put on the back burner and you have to go somewhere else to get your shot. Kind of like a kind of the walker did not that he had major injuries, but he has to go somewhere else to get that lead role where he's the guy. And now is Zack Tarbinay as a, you know, he has the future right in front of him and someone else can come in and shut the door. I don't know. That's who I think. Yeah, yeah, that's one of the names there. They're stuck out the most. I think like you said, it's all about the draft coming up in Seattle, being where they are. Where they are. Obviously the last pick in the first round. They could be very enticing for them to pick one of those running backs. They can be very enticing especially when you have a team that already has a contending roster and a fending suitable chance. And if you don't want to have an early season lack in production at a running back position and you want to draft a say engineering price, make him a first round pick. That's going to be tough. That's going to make a lot of people concerned for Zack Tarbinay. Not that he can't have any value on the Seahawks. It's just as far as him being a guy that just takes over that might be tough if a highly draft of rookies there too. Yep, I agree. I agree. Well, we're moving into round nine and I already have my question ready for you. And maybe it's a little bit similar to the one you just asked me, but round nine starting out at 901. Got Parker Washington, 902 Christian Watson, 903 Basel, Newton, 904 DeAndre Swift, 905 Jaden Higgins, 906, Jadarian Price could be that guy that goes to Seattle and shuts the door on Charbonne's dreams. 907, you have Matthew Stafford, 908 Isaiah, likely 909 Ricky Pearcell, 910. This guy should have been the 11 RJ Harvey. We've talked about enough about him. There's no way he doesn't do better than the mockery we've thrown his way. He's an NFL player. So he's a lot better than I would ever have been in the NFL. 9/11 got Michael Wilson and 9/12 DK Meckhaff. The one thing that stood out to me for this round is a lot of question marks. I was like, why is Parker Washington being drafted here? And do I really believe in Michael Wilson? I was he just a product of having no one else to throw to and they were playing from behind. And is Christian Watson for real? But the question for you is in round 9, who is the most, I guess, overrated player of this round? Who does not deserve to be a pick in this round? Man. Wow. Round 9, let's see. Rose overrated player. He's the rating MVP of the league. But I think in a super flexed dynasty draft, Matthew Stafford in round 9, I think, man, I understand. I do understand the logic behind it. The production you're going to get right away. But we have no idea. They could draft. They could drop the quarterback, coming up Thursday and he could be the guy that's ready to take over and we could find out Stafford's playing his last year. So that's a risk you're taking. It's a risk you're going to take if you're a contending team. So I would imagine this team that picked the man on a seven is planning to contend. So that I understand. I just think there are certain players that you can have over him here that you're going to feel better and you could possibly get him a little later in the draft. But again, every league's different. I've seen him go higher than this. I've seen him go higher and I've seen him go lower. It just depends by the same Matthew Stafford. He's not overrated as a player. But in this specific spot, I think, yeah, I wouldn't feel I wouldn't feel really comfortable taking them on my dynasty roster, not knowing, you know, what's going to happen after this year. Yeah. And then in declare if I that is what I meant by overrated. Okay. That this is the rating that okay, Matthew Stafford, he's worth the 907 in a startup. Not that in general or through outside ranking sources, just this ranking source from this draft, this is their ranking who's the most overrated who shouldn't who didn't deserve that spot. I, you know, I that's exactly how I feel about Matthew Stafford mentioned that earlier. If you're going to take Matthew Stafford at 907, well, why not take him at a 411 like you did, Christian McCaffrey. It's the same type of logic. And if it doesn't apply at 411, it shouldn't apply at 907 because in this type of scoring format, it's made to be a balanced format that you see quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends, wide receivers. When you're the top of your position, you're going to all somewhat score relative to the other players. And I just, I don't have a problem with going after Matthew Stafford, but when you take what should be a good draft strategy, I'm going to get a quarterback that's a veteran later. And then you turn it into I'm going to prioritize getting Matthew Stafford for one year. I don't like that. I don't like that. Sometimes your plan, it falls apart and you have to pivot. This seemed like they were targeting Matthew Stafford specifically here for that reason. And, you know, I guess I would have rather just you just pick a quarterback a little bit sooner and if someone like Matthew Stafford falls.
to you at a better spot, you're okay with that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I'm just taking a quick peek right now at the DLF 80Pings at 192. So obviously, you're not going to get him at 192 in a lot of drafts. We know teams are going to draft them higher just because he is very productive. But man, I just, I just think you can, if the draft went based on where there are true values are at, yeah, you're not going to have to take him at midnight. No, no. Well, I guess you get to close us out here for round 10. All right, round 10 here. We will close this out. Pick 1001 was common on guy. Yeah, 1002, check a con. Quote 1003, George Kittle, 1004, Brenton Streams, 1005, Dalton, Cukade. So there we go. We got four straight tight ends picked here, round 10. 1006, David Montgomery, 1007 Eli Stowers, that are tight end. 1008 Rico Doudal, 1009, AJ Barner, 1010 Josh Downs, 1011 Xavier Worthy, and 1012 Matthew Gold. So while going through this list of players, my question would be, what, what, what player do you think here in this round? What players do you think have the chance to be the most productive this year on their team? Most productive just one year. Yeah, one year because you think about round 10 players. You're starting to get to the reins where a lot of them maybe like a handcuff running back or, you know, maybe you may get like an upside player who hasn't done anything yet, but has upside, or you might get a productive veteran type player. Who do you think in this round 10, you're entering 2026 season? Who are you plugging into your lineup with the most confidence? Okay, well, I would say it comes down to three players and I'll just kind of be doing a processing it out loud here. Now George Kittle, I've heard that it's possible he's back or maybe just misses a few games to start the year. And in this type of format, to get a George Kittle in the 10th round, that's a decent pick. And Brock Perty's tremendous value. He's a good producer. So I'm like in George Kittle, but David Montgomery as well. I'm assuming Houston, you know, they're not getting Jeremiah love, so it doesn't really matter who else they pick up, but they could be a team to go after a Giderian price or one of the other running backs that's out there. But assuming David Montgomery, he's not too old. He's shown to be decent. It's all a question of that Houston offensive line. He could certainly put up some good numbers and Rico Dowdell. I mean, he just had some explosive games last year and I'm not worried about Jaylen Warren. I am worried if Aaron Rogers isn't there and all the sun, it's Will Howard or they just throw Ty Simpson to the wolves because they can't get anybody else. And then they say, well, okay, you know, let's let's hope the rest of the team just somehow makes it work. But breaking it down that way, David Montgomery, Rico Dowdell. I guess the safest would be David Montgomery. There we go. I don't have to worry about injury and I don't have to worry about quarterback situation. So on April 20th, give me David Montgomery. He's the safest player I could put into my lineup as an RB two and feel feel okay about that. Anacdotally, you know, you and I have talked behind the scenes. I have the one one in a certain league and I've been shopping it and I received a bad trade offer. The initial offer was the one one. They want me to give the one one for David Montgomery and the one oh nine and I looked at that and I thought, come on. I kind of laughed. Come on. No, anything was the counters, the offers did get better. They got better. But I'm like, we're really starting on the the basement level here. We're on the garden level apartment. It's even like somewhat sub sub ground floor here. But yeah, I'll go with David Montgomery. Yeah, that's a good offer right there. We always talk about you know, starting, you know, you might want to start with just an introductory offer, but you definitely want to make sure you're on the same planet. That's a good start. You know, it's, but yeah, I mean, David Montgomery there as far as production, I think we're going to, we're going to see I think he's the safest bet production wise. He's got the lead role. There's no question. The most upside obviously George Kittle. He's healthy. There's no question about it. We had David Montgomery round 10. You get yourself, I mean, that could be your fourth or fifth run back at that point. That's not that's not bad at all. Absolutely. Well, that was I guess that rounds out the first 10 rounds. So if you're curious if you got to start up coming up where your player might go, you can listen to listen to this show where you wind it. See where your player ended up. And yeah, definitely anecdotally, at least in my opinion, 10 to 15, you get, you get some decent value in there. Some some nice handcuffs, some wide receiver, two wide receiver, three options. But after round about round 15 in this format, this is not IDP. Just start 10 offensive players already talked about that super flex tight and premium. After about round 15, it kind of starts to matter a lot less. But yeah, it was fun this week and later on this week, we got the draft and next week we'll do a rookie draft recap and our reactions to that. I'm excited. I'm sure you are too as much as most of the fantasy community is. Yeah, 100%. I mean, NFL draft, that's a big day. That's a big day and NFL terms. That's a big day in Dines, Defendants, Football terms. It's fun. It's exciting. I know I'm looking forward to it. I know a lot of people that are, you know, Dynasty, Fandes, Football fans, they're pumped. They're pumped about it. I know I've been talking to a bunch of people and people that have draft capital on their leagues. They're excited to see what happens. It's always a great time of the year. You know, NFL draft is one of the biggest events of the sports calendar and it's going to be real fun. And I'm looking forward to breaking it down next week. Absolutely. It's one of the days we're getting an offer of Dave and Matt Garmory in the one nine. Somehow it makes, maybe it makes it worth it. It's going to be a tremendous value at the one oh nine that is going to make it worth it to give up Jeremiah love for David Montgomery and the one oh nine. Um, that, that, that is not, that is the insight. That's what I would say. Let's not take that as any insight. Nobody wants to. I don't know. We don't know who's going to be available. We the landing spots are just going to be off the chart. They're going to be off the chart and we don't know. That's why you have to wait and see. Yeah. The only way I would see that being an offer you'd be interested in is if Jeremiah love somehow got drafted to like the Pittsburgh parts and now you're in trouble. So that's the only way I could see that. Yeah. He comes out and draft and he says, I am choosing baseball or something like that. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I guess what I have to wait and see. It's just that it's all about landing spot though. Um, yeah. No, I want to thank everybody for listening this week. Certainly, if you could do us a favor, it'd be cool. Sometimes I, I notice our podcast and I'm like, it'd be cool if someone gave us a ranking or gave us a review somewhere, you know, where you can just click on a podcast, search for us. And we're on, we're on Spotify. We're on, uh, you know, the Apple iTunes. Um, and just give us a rating. That would be great. Give us a, you know, short review, you know, has to be positive. Otherwise we're going to come and find you and we're going to say, what's the problem? You know, you think you, you think you can do it any better? No, I'm just kidding. But no, I think that would be nice. It's, uh, it's always a lot of fun to do this and next show is going to be amazing. So I want to thank everybody for listening and, uh, I'll, I'll talk to you next week.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The podcast discusses a recent 12-team PPR, tight end premium, Super Flex startup draft, emphasizing "insight" over "advice."
Josh Allen was the first overall pick, but the hosts debate whether Drake Maye should be preferred due to age and potential, especially if AJ Brown is traded to the Patriots.
Trey McBride at pick 1.09 is highlighted as a risky pick, as he may be drafted at his ceiling after a career-best season, while Brock Bowers is seen as a younger alternative.
Trevor Lawrence at 2.05 is considered a reach, as he typically goes in the third round in other drafts.
Justin Jefferson and CeeDee Lamb falling to the end of the second round is seen as strong value, though the hosts discuss the risks, particularly Jefferson's quarterback situation and Lamb's target competition.

Summary:
In this episode of Lab 52 at Dynastie Football Podcast, hosts Techmo Weave and WeaponX analyze a recent 12-team, PPR, tight end premium Super Flex startup draft. They begin by discussing the top pick, where Josh Allen went first overall, but they question whether Drake Maye should be the choice instead, given his younger age and higher upside. The hosts note that Maye's value could rise further if the Patriots acquire AJ Brown, potentially shifting draft preferences.
09 is scrutinized; while he was the fourth-highest scorer in the format last year, the hosts argue he may be drafted at his ceiling, and they prefer starting with a different position and grabbing a tight end later. They also point out that Brock Bowers offers a younger, potentially safer option. 05 is deemed a reach, as he typically falls to the third round.
FAQs
It's a 12-team PPR Super Flex league with tight end premium (extra 0.5 points per reception), start 10, 4-point touchdowns for quarterbacks, and standard scoring for other positions.
The host prioritizes age and upside, noting Drake Maye is younger and his value could increase, especially if the Patriots acquire AJ Brown, while Josh Allen's value may not rise further.
The concern is that he's being drafted at his ceiling after a career-best season, so there's limited upside, and starting with a tight end might not optimize roster construction compared to picking a receiver or quarterback.
Scoring formats like tight end premium can significantly affect player values, so relying on default rankings or other shows' advice without adjusting for your league can lead to poor draft decisions.
They fell to the late second round, which is great value, but it also signals a changing of the guard as they're both 27, making their long-term value in startups more questionable.
Justin Jefferson is riskier due to his uncertain quarterback situation in Dallas, but his body of work suggests he could bounce back with average QB play, whereas CeeDee Lamb faces target competition from George Pickens.
