But he was a dog also on a defensive side. The one thing that Yokich does better than the Kimmel-Lijuan is pass the ball. If we're talking about, like, and at their peak when we're, they're rebounding, but defense, scoring for sure. I like, to me, I don't know. Yokich is a pretty fucking amazing score as well. I don't think that Yokich has gotten to where he Kimmel-Lijuan is quite yet. I don't think that he has, right? I think that there's a gap there. >> Well, yeah, especially if you consider defense, what dream are you talking about maybe one of the, I mean, some people argue the best defensive big man of all time, right? Like, he leads the career leader in blocks. He, I think he's the only center that's top 10 in steals. Yeah, like it's something crazy like that. I watched him lock up so many big dudes and defend the rim back in his day. I mean, again, a lot of people just think basketball is scoring and shit. And that's great. And Yokich is obviously amazing at that. He's one of the best scores that has ever existed, blah, blah, blah, blah. But if defense matters in basketball, then to Vance Point is not fucking close. So I'll tell you this, we talk defensively. How, do you know how many blocks per game dream average in 1989? >> Yes, yes, yes, three point five. >> Four point six blocks a game. >> Yeah, it's crazy. >> 24, 14 and motherfucking five basically. Four point six blocks a game with two steals a game. Then he gets up to the point to where you never average more than the 27.8 points of game in the season. Like, I personally think that Hakeem, Hakeem, a large one in his combination of skills is the best thing I've ever seen when he was at his peak. >> If he's the best. >> And if Hakeem played in this era, he would be stepping back and taking those threes. Like he took a lot of long twos because that's what you did back then, right? But he would have had the range. He had his shooting stroke was true. I think it was always like 75 anywhere between 75 and 80% from the free throw line. So, he was a good shooter. So, yeah, he would have been able to hit from three to a few played in this era. He's the only person who's ever had 10 win seasons if Vanderbilt in New Mexico State. If you can do that in college, bro, that makes you a legend, that makes you a Hall of Fame. But Fernando had a much better support in cast in Diego Pavia. So yeah, so again, I'm not surprised that he went undrafted. Like, I understand he measured it five foot 10. That would make him literally one of the shortest quarterbacks in NFL history. So if-- you know, so I get that. He's already 24 years old. He probably doesn't have much of an athletic ceiling. Insofar as Bill Belicek was supposed to be a coach that was going to turn UNC into a football factory because of his develop, or NFL factory because of his ability to evaluate and develop talent. Obviously, it's only been, what, one year, we don't see that right now, right? We haven't seen Bill Belicek work his magic on any of his players and take them, and show them the right way to play the game, and then make them into viable NFL draft prospects. Okay, the same thing with Deon Sanders. He's been there longer. And he's had players go in the draft before, but it seems like these players were more connected to his initial splash at Colorado, which this tremendous amount of excitement was around, right? Now that things have normalized a little bit, is it that Deon is not developing talent at Colorado, or does he have less access to talent at Colorado because people are seeing how things are going? Both of these guys are supposed to be able to sell two recruits, how awesome they were at making you ready for the NFL because of their experience with the NFL, and that does not seem to be the case, at least at this particular point in time. - I mean, I think the thing about Deon is that he's a really unique figure in Jackson State, right? That's how you can get like Travis Hunter and everybody else like to do something different because Jackson State, like that really is a unique and compelling mission that you're selling to recruits. If you're a Colorado, if you just can't maintain your initial success, you're just another coach and FBS. And like Deon is as charismatic as anybody who has ever lived, but even still top recruits and guys that, first of all, guys want money, right? So that's one of the top things, but the second thing is they want the competition and all the other stuff that you're probably not gonna get at Colorado, man. Like they know that Colorado's not up and people are just not as excited about playing a big toe schedule as they're all playing in the big team or the SEC. So he's having to compete with all that and it's just like that doesn't, at Colorado doesn't seem to be the same proposition as it was at Jackson State, which is that hey, come play for your people. For Billet Check, man, it's just an indication of how unserious his staff has been. Like people have been talking about the people, all the people that are great. - Also Mac Brown developed, I mean, I wouldn't say develop, just found great talent. Like you looked at all the guys that have been drafted since Mac Brown came back. I mean, there's a lot of NFL players that came out of Carolina and Belice had zero. - Yeah. Yeah, man. Billet Check came into college football and it changed in a way in which he's particularly ill-equipped to handle it. Like he's recruiting players to you and he doesn't have the event, like he didn't have the advantage in the NFL because of the salary cap, but he found things on the margins or whatever. Still, at North Carolina, Billet Check still has to kind of sell himself to people. And that's just, that always seemed like that was gonna be a difficult fit. And then the compounded, you didn't bring that Patricia. You didn't bring Josh McDaniels down there with you, man. You know, you got your boys you down there at North Carolina. And so it's just, you know, he's, this isn't going to work out. Beyond still has a chance to turn it around, but I mean, Billet Check, I mean, if you had North Carolina, how long do you want this to go on? - I mean, it's a lot of money, 10 million a year. - Well, some results soon. Some bugs. - You doing as long as, you doing as long as they'll have you. - Yeah, as long as they keep paying, I guess he's happy. And I mean, the over-under for UNC this year is four and a half weeks. - Oh my God. - That's so. - That's, I mean, North Carolina is not a bad football program. It is a program you can win at. Like it's not, it did not have to be a tear down, you know? You didn't have to do that at North Carolina. There's a lot to sell there. But, you know, I mean, when you hire, you know, I just, I just, I think went for the name thing, thinking that was going to work. But Billet, Billet Check isn't an interesting enough figure. Like once the games get started. - And the guy who was supposed to be the one who hired is now the head coach at Penn State. So, I mean, that's the other part. Like you hired Billet, check over guys. Now the head coach at Penn State. So, that's the other hard part to swallow. So, tough times, Deon has the, the health stuff. So, I feel like it's a little bit of like last year, it was understandable that he had some issues. Also, Shredor Travis Hunter, they both go to the league. So, you know, tough, makes sense. So, these were the quarterbacks that were supposed to be drafted in the 2026 NFL mock draft. This is from last May. Archmaning was projected number one. Lenora Sellers number two, K clubbing number three, Sam Levin number nine, Drew Aller number 11, Garrett Nussmeyer number 16. Wow. Think about how much has changed in a year. - I mean, the, first of all, the archmaning thing was always stupid. Because they knew, they said, they said from the beginning that the boy was not gonna leave college that early. Like that he was gonna play. So, that was always stupid. I never understood why they assumed that archmaning was gonna come out. Now, look, I'm, you know, I've been grinding tape. I'm gonna probably watch a lot of football in my life. If you go back to our old shows, even early in the year, I was telling y'all, K club nick and Drew Aller, aren't it? And I don't know why they keep putting the boys up there, man. - But they were both drafted. - They were both drafted. I mean, that's what's up, but I mean, I, I never saw it. I was like, would it, would it, is it just that they're six foot three and white? I just couldn't understand. - Oh my God. - Why they kept putting them up there at the top of these, these locked drafts. I didn't see it. And they, they both have physical ability. - Yeah, I mean, they said Drew Aller is huge and has a great arm. That's right. - Going to Pittsburgh. - Yeah, like, so they both have physical ability. K club nick is very mobile. And he has had. So, club nick, last year was bad, but the year before, he had a good season. - He was going to the Jets. - He did okay and I was like, he looked all right. But what they were talking about, top of the, top half of the first round. Again, I said the next time I see Drew Aller have a good game against a good defense, it'll be the first time. I never, like, it's hard to think about his physical skills when I've never actually seen him be that good at football. - Now, you're right about Aller, but we should say in 2024, K club nick through for 3600 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions, and they went to the playoffs. - You said six interceptions? - Yeah, and six picks. They went to the playoffs, like, and he ran for 463 yards and seven touchdowns as well. He was legitimately somebody that you could project if he was able to build on that season and improve, like, to be able to be quarterback, and he regressed tremendously. Now, I'll say this, that team had some problems. Also, there's a larger issue. It seems like to me, about quarterback development in college football, you've seen some people talk about that. We've had quarterbacks bust out when they were supposed to, like, take the next step. I don't know that I can remember a season where you had this many guys bust out at the same time. You had this many guys, because you could even throw, obviously, there was injury involved in this, you could throw a little more sellers into that as well, and go, what the fuck is happening on these campuses with these guys' ability to develop this talent? Is it the fact that the influx of players out and in is stopping them from being able to sort of gain some kind of consistency with their receivers? Are they being put in different offices? Is there, is current college football just not conducive for players to develop? Or did we just get a bad batch of guys that we fucking overrated because we're into these guys a little bit too much and love watching them talk to John Groot and all of that shit like that. And they just weren't as good as what we fucking thought they were. Yeah, that's what I thought. I just think that they're just, it was an overvalued class from J. To think about the North sellers, I was just like, with the North. He's coming back. Well, I was just like, I saw the North and I was just like, he's really athletic. He's really athletic. But I didn't see a great number two overall quarterback. I was, I just, I just didn't see that and that's we got evidence of that this year. And I think next year though, I've been, I've been kind of bullish that Archman, I think Archmaning is really good and that next year he's going to really show out. Like I think he'll be, maybe it'll be tough for him to ever live up all to all the expectations. But I think that he's going to be a really good playoff quarterback next year. Let me next year get Dante Moore, who should probably be the number one pick, right? You got Archmaning, you got Sam Levitt, who's the top 10 pick, you know, based on this mock draft for last year. Not well, we don't know how healthy Sam Levin is, but what I'm saying is like in that situation, whoever he would have went to is right now in the world of hurt. - Yeah, Pete Thamel reported, Texas Tech quarterback Brandon Soros who was taking a leave of absence from football for a gambling addiction. He would only say that Soros be bet on Indiana football while redshirting for IU as a true freshman in 2022, a season in which he played a single game as a reserve that bets in 2022 per sources. We're on Indiana to win and none came into game in which shorts be appeared. So this feels like they're getting ahead of a larger story because it felt like they got a lot of details on some of the bets he's been making throughout his time in college football. But again, never bet on a game that he played in only bet on Indiana to win, but taking a leave of absence. And he might not play this year, he might be banned. So this was $6 million from Texas Tech that might backfire. - Yeah, I just feel sorry for him. I mean, that's the thing I take from it more than anything. Oh, so I don't give a fuck about Texas Tech football, man. It just seems that this is inevitable and sort of like the Canary and the Colman. But if you look in other other sports, particularly the NBA, obviously there's ongoing conversation about gambling, how gambling is going to affect the, the, the minds and the, the behaviors of these young athletes. Like in an economy that is slowing as the American economy is right now, you need sure things. Like, there's, sometimes they bring, they used to bring police officers. I don't know if they do that anymore. And I'm sure it varies from school to school. And you go over like all of the different ills that might affect you, right? When you're on campus, you know, when you're at a college campus about warning about drinking, warning about consent. I'm sure that's a bigger conversation today than it used to be. So, you know, they go through all that. And I'm sure the gambling is a part of that conversation. Like, this is something that could derail you if you really get into it, right? Or, you know, shit, I'm sure they drugs and all that other stuff, too. So, I'm sure they do go through it with them. They sent a living. They got 11 guys drafted off this team and then that wasn't that didn't even include their best player who's still on the roster, Jeremiah Smith. So yeah, man, they're going to, it makes sense. They got to lose to me, did I believe it? And I say, and I say that they are the new Alabama, because what Alabama was really rolling, we weren't talking about like Alabama having the best players in college football. We were talking about Alabama having once in a generational freak phenoms, like fucking dare canary and shit like that. And that's what they have now. They just put fucking styles and Caleb Downs into more of the fucking draft. And they reased into the draft like absolute fucking dogs. And they got to Joe's point, the biggest fucking dog still on campus right fucking now. Yeah. Got the quarterback coming back. Got Matt Patricia resigned as their defensive coordinator. So all things rolling for Ohio State to the number one right now, SEC, they put this out. I guess this was propaganda piece, but they had this headline, SEC poised to dominate the 2027 NFL draft as a large manning leads wave of stars ready to break the leagues. This round record again, 10 players picked from the big 10 this year in the first round. And the SEC was second best was seven. So they're trying to earn that record back. Van, do you believe they can break the big 10 record next year? Maybe, but this is cope. Okay. This is comfort. It does. It does feel like cope. No, it's the way this draft played out is the same way that the actual seasons are playing out. Yeah, the SEC was able to have a lot of players drafted in the in the middle to late rounds and stuff like that. There's a lot of talent in the SEC. The top of the draft though was big 10 dominant, right? And that is the way you see things shaking out in the actual conference matchups right now, which is the big 10 is absolutely rolling the SEC in head to head stuff in the playoffs, right? And there's one last three national championships. And by the way, it's not just the big 10. It's the SEC is losing to everyone when they get into the playoffs. To me, if people look close enough to it, it is a full on panic, a red alert, which is happening with the SEC going against college football is very best. But when you get below the first team or the second team or the third team and you get all throughout the conference, the depth of the SEC is probably better than any other conference. But honestly, that's never what the fucking conference has hung their hat on. What the conference has hung their hat on is dominance of the sport. And you cannot be dominant in the sport unless you're winning the biggest games with the biggest audiences on the biggest stage with the biggest stakes. And the SEC isn't doing that. And it's the same thing that happened in the draft. That was Cope. Joe. I was like, this is like a point you would make, Joe. I mean, the SEC, they have to be honest with us first. Whereas like teams played, if you played Clemson, they had Clemson had nine NFL draftees. So it's just like there is a big difference now in a growing distance, but like it's happening all over the place. There were only four FCS players drafted in this past weekend, man. That's crazy.
