Well, I don't really know what that means. A good starting pitcher doesn't have ridiculous splits, left side, right side. Now, that's the main thing I think that separates starters from the bullpen. If you've got really ridiculous splits, then you're going to have to be a bullpen pitcher because you're going to have to come in and pitch when your manager is picking the match-ups, not when the other managers picking the match-ups. So that's the biggest difference. And I think the splitter has given him a pitch that he could use against lefties. I just think the times where he gets in a little bit of a trouble, I think the control leaves him a little bit. He only gave up a couple of runs and five in and just a minute. Both the guys that scored the runs were back-to-back walks. And I think that happened when he had a six-run lead if I remember correctly. He can't do that as a starting pitcher. He can't do that really. He comes in on the bullpen. You get a six-run lead, you have to pitch like a scratch-crafting. You've got to pound that strike zone. You've got to go after him. If they're going to beat you, it has to be like the other day with Keller where they came out and just beating with the bats. And then you tip your hat to him and say, "Hey, you beat me that day." But you can't be letting guys back in the ball game when you get that big lead by not throwing strikes. That's the one issue that I think sticks its head up every now and with him. So Bob, I mentioned in our last segment that I had talked to you probably a month ago because we were around the topic of clearly the pirates have sacrificed a little bit of defense here, particularly in the outfield for offense and how that's a good thing. That seems like a good thing. I asked you last month, when you were pitching, would you rather have an airtight defensive team or a team that scored runs that had a couple of question marks, you said, "Give me the runs." And I'm wondering if you can just expound on that a little bit. >> Well, yeah. I mean, I'm not a schemes or an ass craft. I'm not going to go out there and have a one or two something ERA. I'm going to have a four something ERA. So I want three or four runs while I'm out there in my six or seven innings because I can't really -- I mean, on the rare occasion, it's not like I never threw a shut out or something like that. But mostly I was a mediocre type pitcher. And so I needed my three or four runs if we were going to win the ball game. And so that's kind of what I was looking for. Now I don't want guys out there that can't do nothing. I mean, you have to make some compromises, but you have to have defensive players out there. >> How do you feel about Spencer Horowitz this season so far, Bob? >> I got to turn this phone off over here. >> I think he's doing okay. I think he's really been making -- I guess a little bit of a -- my platoon. Like a player, I think, is what he kind of looks like. He struggles. And he's not the only one. I mean, we struggle with a team against a left handed pitching. So I think that's a place I would like to see him get better at to be an everyday, you know, first baseman. You know, in an ideal world, you're getting your best power from those corner spots. And he's not really a power hitter, although he's got power to hit some home runs. So I mean, you can kind of, you know, nitpick, but, you know, I think he does okay over there on defense. He's not a liability for sure. In fact, you know, most of the time, I think he's pretty good over there. The offense against right hand pitchers. I got no problem with him being out there in that lineup. I think he's going to be a positive impact, you know, if you just want to pick out that one guy, but again, against the lefties of we need to, we need to do a better job as a team against those guys. Because I don't like when I see a lefty going against this. It doesn't give me a good confidence feeling. Do you think that the last three weeks is really the blossoming of Connor Griffin as a major league player for what he's going to be for this year and the rest of his, well, really for the rest of the season? Yeah, I don't know. When he got here, you know, it looked like he was, I don't want to say over match, but he was scoffing a little bit. And then he, something happened. Maybe, you know, it was a couple of it at bats or something. He started, you know, getting a lot more confidence up there at the plate. And now, I mean, he only first started, he was at the bottom line up. And they hit the ninth. The other day, they had him up at, in the number two spot. And then I think it hit fifth after that the next game. You know, he's bouncing around looking for a home in that, in that lineup, but it's going to be in the upper half somewhere. That for sure. I love the way he plays the, the athleticism he has, his speed. I mean, he's, he's got 10 steals. He hasn't been thrown out. He looks like he's going to be a guy this can, can grab you about 40 stolen bases in a season. So it's, it really is fun watching him get better and better. And you know, now he's, I don't know what he's hitting. He's hitting like 250, something like that. By the end of the year, he'll probably be up there. I'm guessing the way that he is improving, you know, he'll be 280 with lots of runs scored, a decent amount of RBI's and you play in an excellent shortstop.
