Democrats Secure Huge Win and Newsom Threatens to Jail ICE!
16m 52s
Election day turnout across the U.S. is surging, with record early voting and strong participation in swing states like Michigan, Georgia, and Louisiana. Despite concerns over federal election monitors—reported to have overstepped legal boundaries in states like Michigan and New Mexico—voting integrity remains a top priority. Democratic gains are highlighted by the flip of Guam’s non-voting delegate seat, signaling broader political momentum. California Governor Gavin Newsom underscores the state’s robust election security, deploying thousands of state monitors and legal teams to counter federal interference, including threats to prosecute ICE agents found voting illegally. A central focus of the Democratic strategy is delivering tangible policy outcomes on wages, housing, and anti-corruption measures, aiming to rebuild public trust. Newsom emphasizes a results-oriented, bold political approach to counter the Trump brand’s influence and rebuild the Democratic party’s appeal. He also reflects on his lifelong commitment to public service, suggesting a continued engagement with public issues beyond the immediate election cycle. The broader narrative centers on a repudiation of Republican-led policies, with a call for accountability, transparency, and real-world impact in future governance.

Voters are flooding the polls. DOJ monitors are getting caught
overstepping the law. Machines are down in some of the most
important swing districts in America. And the president of the United States,
he spent election day arguing about whether he was joking when he said he
wanted to rename the reflecting pool after himself. Democrats have
officially scored their first major victory, flipping the first
congressional seat from red to blue, a non-voting delegate seat in Guam.
And I spoke to
California Governor Gavin Newsom today, who is threatening to throw ICE officials behind bars.
Lots to cover this afternoon. If you can, make sure to subscribe, support this work,
like, comment, share. The more you do, the more people see. We are going live from 6 p.m. Eastern
time until midnight, starting in just over an hour. And I hope to have each and every one of you
with me as we do. But first, as promised, I want to run through all the news you missed today
because it is heating up an American.
past the 2022 midterm numbers. Election officials from North Carolina to Georgia to Michigan all
report strong turnout right out of the gate. In Dearborn, Michigan, the only Arab-majority city
in the entire country, the mayor says turnout has surpassed 2022 levels. An NBC News analysis
found roughly twice as many Black voters cast ballots early in Louisiana and South Carolina
compared to 2022. And look at Florida. Overall turnout is tracking closer to 2022,
and Democratic-leaning counties like Alachua and Osceola are running 13 and 22 percent higher.
In Georgia, the Secretary of State says the state is on pace for about 1.2 million election day
votes. Republicans thought they needed at least 1.5 million to make up for weak election early
votes. People are showing up and the issues are driving them. Right now, though, at the polls,
there have been some issues. The Department of Justice has sent out election monitors,
thousands of them across the country. And we have reporting today confirming
that Liz Landers, from Liz Landers, New Mexico Secretary of State, tells her
that verified DOJ monitors have been asking some, quote, unusual questions and doing things that are
not allowed by law, such as questioning voters. In Michigan, DOJ monitors reportedly acted outside
of their legal scope in Dearborn and Flint. The Michigan Department of State in its 1 p.m. update
said that DOJ monitors in Dearborn and Flint reportedly acted outside the scope of their jobs.
According to Kim Bush with the Michigan Attorney General's Office, in Dearborn, monitors were
requesting copies of training materials. In Flint, monitors asked poll workers how they were trained,
neither of which is acceptable. But heading overseas to Guam, Democrats did flip their
first seat of the election cycle. Alicia Ann Garrido-Limataco has defeated James Moylan,
a shift, a flip from red to blue. Guam's non-voting delegate in the United States House
of Representatives will now be a Democrat. The governor of Guam did flip from red,
from blue to red. But even that flip, there was a major Democratic undertow and the entire race
actually shifted to the left. Now, Governor Gavin Newsom is threatening ICE officials this
afternoon. If you show up to the polls illegally, we will find you. We will track you down, arrest
you and prosecute you. There will be no escape. And Donald Trump, for his part, has been yelling
at the Daily Mail over his reflecting pool joke for not covering it correctly and then yelling
at Ted Lieu calling him a lightweight for once again talking about the reflecting pool. So this
is where Donald Trump's head is at. Now, I spoke with California Governor Newsom about his threat
to jail ICE agents and so much more. Make sure to subscribe. Keep me caffeinated tonight. Like,
comment, share, get the word out. And here's my conversation with the California governor.
Great to be with Governor Gavin Newsom this afternoon. Now, Governor, I got to jump right in.
Polls close in California in a few hours. How are you feeling? How are things looking right now?
I mean, it's awkward to say it. I mean, so overwhelmingly positive, but without any hesitation, without any concern. I mean, the numbers are off the charts and they've been off the charts for the last month. Remember, in California, we do early voting as well or better than anybody. We've got all in mail ballots. A vast majority of folks will have done it by mail. And we've seen extraordinary turnout. And you're seeing it now today, even parts of the state that are raining.
You're still seeing people in line. So it's everything we had hoped for and candidly more.
It's been incredible. In the swing districts, because you guys did the mid-decade redistricting
to combat what Texas was doing and other Republican states, how are the swing districts
looking right now? If you were to make a prediction, what would you say? Yeah, I mean, some of them are
close. I mean, remember, they're just, you know, plus four. So they're not, you know, they weren't,
people have sort of mythology that we just made these maps that were impenetrable for any
independent Republican. Quite the contrary. I mean, it really is a race not only for your base,
but to get those independently minded people. And so I was down with Derek Tran. I was down
with Dave Min in Southern California the last two days. I was with our soon to be governor-elect
Becerra. I was with Kamala Harris, our former vice president, our two senators. And so we're
leaving nothing to chance. I say all this. The confidence comes from the hard work, the grit,
the grind, everybody showing up, everybody doing the work. I was at an event and it was really
amazing. Just asked everybody was about four, I don't know, two, three hundred people in the room
how many had voted. Every single hand had gone up, but everybody still showed up after they had
already voted, which says everything you need to know. I mean, I've never been in a room where
usually half the room has voted or maybe three quarters, but there wasn't a hand that hadn't
voted and everyone was there to lend a hand to someone else because they recognize what's at
stake. All of them running through the tape tonight. The Department of Justice sent a
thousand election monitors across the country, including several to your state. Have you seen
any issues, any shenanigans? There have been some reports out of Michigan and elsewhere that they
could be causing some problems, anything in California. You know how many I sent out as a
state governor? A thousand. Exact same number. We're not screwing around. Donald Trump's not
screwing around. We went to the Supreme Court. You remember just yesterday, we had to go to the
Supreme Court. We had three federal court decisions in one week. I mean, he's doing everything to put
Santa in the gears of truth, trust, and getting a fair count here. So not only did we put out a
thousand monitors to monitor his monitors, which we know at this moment, to your question, are in
four different counties as at this moment. And of course, this will unfold over the course of the
day. So we'll have 10 to 1 people monitoring the monitors. And then we also have 130 election law
attorneys that are ready to be deployed. And we created that 1-877 number, kind of old school,
but 1-877-321-VOTE. And we've got 54 people that are doing operations to make sure that anyone
that sees something, that we can do something about that by descending and sending our strike
teams down. So we're seeing nothing yet, but we have seen his monitors deployed, as you mentioned,
it's all 50 states and about a thousand. But again, nothing to chance, particularly here in
California, where the assault tends to happen first. In the past couple hours, you put out two
tweets giving warnings to, quote, Donald Trump's thugs, including ICE agents, saying if they show
up at the polls illegally, you will find them, you will track them down, arrest them and prosecute
them. Are you serious on that threat? Yeah, and you know what? Donald Trump can't pardon them
because these will be prosecutions under state law, state law that we amended just a few months
ago in anticipation of this moment in this election, making any action that seizes a ballot
or a machine a state felony that will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
And so we're not screwing around. We added $40 million of supplemental budget to also increase
and fast track the count and to make sure that we had appropriate personnel in every one of our
registrar's offices across the state. And so eyes wide open as it relates to the National Guard,
eyes wide open as it relates to that group of masked men and women, primarily men that seem
to have sworn an office to Trump, not the Constitution of the United States. Again,
Bovino was a California resident first, and obviously we were the first state that saw
the federalization of the National Guard a year and a half ago. So, you know, again, I'm not
naive about this moment. I'm not naive about what happens even moments before the election or the
polls close, nor in the next few days as we count every single ballot and make sure everybody's vote
is honored. And we continue to celebrate this cherished fundamental right to vote
and not see it vandalized by Trump. Looking ahead, if Democrats were to take
over the House of Representatives,
would you advise Democratic leadership in the House
to pursue investigations
and potentially an impeachment of the president,
or would you rather them go pass a ton of policy,
force the president, as he liked to say, become Mr. Vito?
- Well, you can do both with relentless vigor.
We've got to focus relentlessly on wages.
We've got to focus relentlessly on mobility and
housing, which none of that's, you know, that's pretty self-evident table stakes. We've got to
deliver. We've got to roll back those tariffs. We've got to roll back the most extreme cuts at
H.R. 1. We've got to end this war on not just, well, the war in Iran, but the war on innovation,
the war on health, the war on education. We've got to end all of that. So a positive alternative
agenda at the exact same time you're relentlessly pursuing against all this corruption and this
grift, which is jaw-dropping. And I think we're barely scratching the surface of our understanding
when it comes to tungsten minings in Albania and hotels and resorts to golf courses and Vietnam to
how the tariff policy has been used to pad the pockets of the Trump administration,
the $130,000 gold bar that was delivered by CEOs coming from Switzerland, the gold clock by the
head of Rolex. Same time they rolled back those Swiss tariffs from 39%.
We could talk about the $1.4 billion in the meme coin, the $4.3 billion that his followers and
supporters lost and all the other grift that's going on with 1789 Capital and the Trump sons and
the $6.3 billion they've received in federal contracts for companies that were just conceived
and just started. There's so much to mine and we can never allow this to happen again. And that's
why I think the biggest mistake Democrats could make is just to turn the page completely,
we have to hold this corruption story and family members that are associated with it accountable
and be accountable to the American people on addressing affordability.
Something we've seen in poll after poll is that the Trump brand is extremely unpopular,
but also the Democratic brand is generally unpopular in many states across the country,
among many voters. How do you change that? How do you fix that heading into 2028 and just generally
the future? You got to perform, you got to deliver
results, not rhetoric, not process. You got to have, and dare I say in lexicon that's so familiar
now, an abundance mindset. We got to be smash mouth in terms of delivering on our promises.
We've got to move away from, you know, the paralysis of analysis and, you know, process
and focus on results. It's about execution. It's about visible and tangible results,
results people can see. And we've got to be relentless in our promotion of what we're
promoting.
As well, we've got to be more focused on what people want and tell them over and over that
that's what we're focusing on 24-7. To the extent that Trump, you know, plays whack-a-mole and
pushes back, that's fine. We keep coming over and over. You got to take the fight to Trump.
We do not. Look, if there's any lesson going back to Prop 50, any lesson, you know, that brought
those knee pads you see behind me, the Trump signature knee pads that I was sending out to
CEOs and corporations and to universities and others.
So we're selling their soul to Donald Trump, bending the knee, is that the only thing he
respects is strength. And he's going to have to respect the outcome of this election. It's going
to be by a margin that even Donald Trump can't steal. And so we have to be steely in our resolve
now to deliver the goods that we have been promoting and promising. You do that. We do that.
Brand blue, brand Democrat. We'll be back on top where it belongs. But I'm not naive to your point
in closing.
That this was not necessarily a victory of party. This is a repudiation of the Republican Party
and Donald Trump. That victory of party has to come from progress, not just promotion. Now that
we'll be back in the majority, hopefully in the Senate, not just the House of Representatives.
Governor, before I let you go, in just a matter of two months, no matter what happens tonight,
you are going to be a private citizen for the first time in a very long time.
First, how are you feeling about that? And second, is your time,
in politics, is this the end of your time in politics?
I don't know. I'm still, public service to me, that's never going to leave me. You can see if
there's some books of myself. It's a lot of Sarge Shriver books. That's my political hero, Sarge
Shriver, who never served a day in elected office and made more contribution in the 20th century
than most presidents. And I just, you know, that's my mindset. You don't have to be something to do
something. So I'm going to keep trying to do some things and trying to add value in life, try to
give my life meaning. And I'm going to keep trying to do some things and try to add value in life,
purpose, and a mission that lifts other people up. That's why I think I'm here. That's my why
to stand up for ideals, strike out against injustice. It's what flows through me as a
father, as a husband, as a business person, and as a governor, and as a former governor, as you say,
in just a few months. And then fate will determine if there's another elected office in the horizon.
Governor, I appreciate the time.
Thanks so much, man. Thank you.
