[MUSIC] Welcome to Decorating the Set from Hollywood To Your Home with Beth Kushnick. This is Caroline and with me, Beth Kushnick. Hey, Beth, how are you? I'm good, Caroline. Summer is almost here. It's a great time to be shaking up our decor. This season, we've covered new trends for 2025, new shopping sources and the power of the dupe. But this week, we're going to tie it all together. You recently launched your own Amazon store. Talk to us a bit about why you started the store and let's explain to people how to access it. After hearing from so many listeners, I decided to create an Amazon store of my best favorite personal go-to items that are all really attainable price-wise and have such a great look no matter what your personal style is. I think there's something for everyone. And what I really like about it is through Amazon, we can talk about certain vendors that have like full stores. So not only can you see the pieces that I picked from their store, but you can go click on the link to their store and see everything they carry. It might not be on Amazon, but it's through their store. So it's my gift to all of you for learning about new vendors and possibly finding new items that you love. Sounds exactly like what we need right now. So how do we get to your Amazon store? You can access my Amazon store at amazon.com/shop/bethkushnik. You can also just google BethKushnik Amazon store and it's the first thing that comes up. So it's easy. And there's also a link to the Amazon store on my website, BethKushnik.com. So if this is the first time you're visiting an Amazon store, please don't be intimidated. Definitely come and check it out. This is going to be a great sneak peek behind the curtain here, because I think we're going to really start to understand how you make your choices and hopefully those out here who would like to emulate some of that, we'll be able to sort of figure out your pattern, your secret sauce. It's really that. The secret sauce of things that are available, because these items are ones I've chosen to use on set in private clients' homes. They're the real deal Beth picks. Listeners, I suggest you browse the store online while you're listening to this episode, even if you have to go back and do that, because it'll be like having Caroline or my shop at home with you. We will put all the links of all the items today in the episode show notes, but you also have them on your Instagram, right? Yes, I will. You can see the looks from today's episode on my Instagram at BethKushnik, as soon as the episode airs. I think the best way to highlight the stores to pick a few specific items from some different groupings. So let's start with your picks from the Refresh Your Decor grouping. Okay. My first pick here is called the 14 Stripes Self-Adhesive Stair Decals. That is mouthful, but it is the perfect DIY project for a big look easily achieved. They're literally stickers that go on the part of the stairs that face you. They look like beautiful old tiles. They're really easy to install and to remove, and they could change up an entryway in a really quick, easy solution. I think this is an amazing solution for a lot of us that have stairs with kids. They get so much wear and tear. You know, they're kicking up the steps. They're, they're dragging their backpack up there. This feels such, like, such a doable fix that will have a big impact. Do you have another choice from this grouping? Well, there are certain companies that I know and work with. Not only on Amazon, but sometimes it's their storefront that I visit. And one of those companies is Savavia Ruggs. They make rugs in many styles. They also make really reasonably priced furniture. The rug collection that I'm recommending is the 5th Avenue collection, black, handmade, mid-century modern, abstract wool area rug. See, the rug comes in so many shapes and sizes. Those kinds of things are really difficult to find. You know, sometimes a certain set calls for a round rug. You know, like, like Alicia had a round rug under her dining table. Just worked within the space and the size of the room. You can find a version of the rug that's really tailored to your needs. I used actually one very similar to this one on the 1980s period television series I did called Bridge and Tunnel. You have so many different sizes available, which you're completely right. And most of the time you get like two or three. And they're very basic, eight by ten, five by seven. That's it. These are so much more detailed and a lot more variety. Amazing. I think this is an amazing pick. And wool, I feel like, yay. Like, it wears so well, it keeps forever. Right, and there are runners. You know, you can think about warming up a space with a runner or with a small rug bedside or even on top of carpet. It's just another layer that creates a look. I also love very much that it's like a medium pile because it's like, you get that nice sleek look but you still get some cushion, which feels so nice. Okay, so we've refreshed our decor. Let's head over to the current faves grouping. What are our must-haves from this grouping? Well, I just absolutely fell in love with this item called the Too Pack acrylic flower vase for dining centerpieces from Lowry. What it is is a 24-inch long rectangular vase. You know, it's long and low, the perfect item for dining room centerpiece because you can talk to your guests and you're not, there's nothing in your way. No flowers in your way. The best thing about this is you can create a flower arrangement that your guests will absolutely think you have delivered from a florist because it is so easy, you can take one type of flower and put one in each opening all the way down the 24-inch vase or you can mix it up, you can mix up the color but it is flower arranging for everyone. Anyone can do this. It's chic, it's elegant. I just think it's a great item and it's not so much that it's a beautiful vase. It gives you really the way to do the arranging and the clear receptacle for the flowers. You know, once it's done, you notice how beautiful it is but it doesn't take away from the flowers which is something I really love. - Absolutely, that in looking at it, my first thought was I love how it highlights the flowers and the clear vase actually kind of creates just the water look like it disappears into it. It's very beautiful, very striking and I can't tell you how many times we just did this at Mother's Day where you get a big bouquet of flowers and then what's the first thing everyone does? Take it off the table, put it on a chair, somewhere or whatever 'cause you can't talk, you can't see each other. - Well, the best thing about this too is that it's low and you're cutting the stem almost like a boot near a length. The cool thing about that is that if you get arrangements of flowers and some tend to droop or die, you can use this particular vase to save the ones that aren't dying and lasting a little longer. - That's amazing, it's like part two for those flowers. - Exactly. - I love it. And again, the low look and it can fit any style that you have because it's so neutral. - It's about the flowers. - It is completely. And it's very high-end looking for such a reasonable price which when it comes to flowers, sometimes it can really be expensive. - Because I do the research for you. I'm not ever going to show something that has two items left. I don't wanna get you excited that you wanna order the item and it's gone. I'm doing things that are sort of tried and true that have higher ratings, better reviews. Even Amazon does some of the work by telling you if an item is returned often. And if you ever see that, just stay away. - Yeah, because the sheer numbers of people who are returning that item means it's not just a few who are not pleased with it. - Yeah, the other thing I really love about this one too is the delivery turnaround. Like for me, it would be here tomorrow at 10 a.m. So if I was having a get together and I was like, oh my gosh, I'm scrambling, this is not something I have to wait two weeks for. Like it'll be here. - Well, hello. - Now you're a septic reader. - Because I have to worry about my time, exactly. Well, what else are in your current faves? - Well, I wanna highlight Caelix, interiors, cordless bamboo Roman shade blinds. Window treatments that are something I have to provide on set all the time. We go into a location, we're shooting day for night or there are bad reflections from outside for lighting purposes from a director of photography. Every window has to be dressed. I need that custom look and I never know what the sizes are until the very last minute. So this particular product comes in a multitude of colors and it's a real life saver when I can find something ready made that's so good looking in all these sizes and colors, even if I'm using drapes because I layer the window treatments. So it just creates another lived in look and different ways of cutting light and shadow. For something like this to be available to me as a septic reader, the following day, it's a life saver. - What struck me about this item that I want our listeners to take note, definitely click through a little bit to the other pictures because I think this is amazing how they added the how to measure your blinds so that you can figure out exactly what you need. I know on all of our Facebook pages everywhere out there one of the biggest questions is not understanding how to do window treatments, how to measure it, where to hang it. This tells you everything you need to know in advance so you don't need to be intimidated once it comes in. You're not like scrambling. It explains everything and you're ready to go. So let's keep with our price point affordable selections. What are you suggesting in the designer for less grouping? - It wouldn't be a best story without a selection that includes lighting. This is just such a really unique piece. The Tove furniture, Mayori, black striped paper mache table. Now, first of all, a table lamp made out of paper mache. It is like a beautiful art piece. The price is so reasonable. It looks completely handmade. Take a look, you'll see it's just an instant upgrade to any space and something no one will believe you bought on Amazon. Now, of course, you can go to Tove furniture and see all the unique things they carry. But I'm definitely buying one for my next project that's starting soon. I just see it fitting that character so perfectly. It's really, really unique piece. - I love that it's handmade. That comes through totally off of the screen. But when I was reading more about the item, I was like, wow, it's actually handmade, not. It doesn't have that factory look at all. And you know, no one else is going to have this. - Exactly. If you again use these pieces that are either basic, necessary or unique like this one, after all you've learned from listening to us. If you use them in a unique place, like for instance, this paper mache lamp could be put on the kitchen counter. - Yeah, that would be striking. It would definitely be a conversation piece, which most of us think of lighting sometimes just as like an afterthought. I know for Beth, no way. For sure. For most. And getting the right lamp. And this is one of those ones, especially I think if you have a very eclectic home if you like to have a lot of different unique pieces that people notice, this is fantastic. So Beth, let's bring it back around to our Hollywood to home choices. What do you have for us in the Get the Look grouping? - Right off the living in set, from the best you can, the Kevin Bacon Cure Cedric movie that I did last year, it's premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7th, is the Yaminess Green Farmhouse Floral Lumber Throw Pillow. And it's the cover for the pillow. You'll have to buy the insert, but the one that I used comes in a 12 by 20 inch size, which I think is a sort of more contemporary looking size. Now for pillows, they're considered oblong or a lumbar pillow. They're very popular right now. They work well with other big square throw pillows. - Do you know what, I love these size pillow for Beth. I have eyelash extensions and I do not like to put my face on my pillow. I actually kind of balance this side of my face on a pillow exactly this size. This is my eyelash pillow. - No, that's so nice, that's great. - You know, I'm telling you ladies, this stuff works. Plus it's awesome too, you can tuck it in your backpack, take it on the plane if you want, wash it because you have the case, you can take off, wash it, no problem, this is fantastic. And I love the colors, they're beautiful. And I know that velvet texture, yum. - Yeah, it was a last minute purchase I made to tie a color story together that we were working on in the living room and creating that top layer of life that I love to do. They're really beautiful. You know, I'll not use in my store anything that I don't think has longevity. Sometimes the surfaces, some things are almost better suited to a set where no one's really using them, opening the door to a cabinet, but on a set it would stay closed and no one would fuss with it. I want my selections to really have some quality to them. I know what to look for. And even though they're lower priced, I think you'll be surprised at the level of quality. - I'm really struck by the fact that it has the invisible zipper closure because you can lay on it and really enjoy it. It's not like the things poking out at you. You know, it's not just for looks, you can actually put your head on it. - I think it's gorgeous, very luxurious, and just another reason why I cannot wait to see the vest you can. Why did you choose it for that movie? - It was a crazy day. And we had little time as usual. You know, we had some really good pieces and we were having a great color story in the room we were shooting on location and the room felt really pulled together but too empty. Not lived in enough, not comfortable enough. I mean, I didn't want to solve it all with pillows, but-- - But can pillows not solve everything badly? - In this situation, I needed more than pillows, but once I knocked those pillows off my list by Amazon, I could go out and get a few more things. But since I was pretty confident with those arriving the next day, it's exciting, you know, when the stuff arrives, you know, doing that top layer of life is the part that, you know, sometimes it frustrates me the most, but it also brings me the most joy because it just starts singing, you know? It was like, there's a shot where you're seeing these two chairs around the fireplace and like those pillows and the chairs, that was the ticket, that was what was needed. - I have to ask you, like, what about the characters like backstory made you drawn to this color scheme and just this type of pillow? - The type of sofa we had. Just all the choices we had made leading up to that. I tend to like classic floral patterns and this reminded me of almost a cross between old and new, the velvet, it just spoke to me. - It has a sophistication to it. - Yeah, and all the things that I'm picking, you know, as a go-to item, just in general, I consider character, I consider style. You know, I'm not creating categories in these different groupings in my store to be just for one individual, you know? I want to include anyone who likes traditional decor, who likes transitional decor, modern decor, mid-century modern. I'm trying to do like universal items that I think not only are necessary, but helpful. You know, I'm trying to bring to you something that you might be missing or lacking in your home that you can easily fill in with this kind of style. - I love how it reads as a neutral to me in many ways, but it's not like beige, you know, it's not bland, but it also isn't like, you have to have one style that matches it. - I like to mix it up and I like that eclectic look. Also from the get to look grouping is another pick and the reason why I picked it is 'cause it just can be used in a myriad of ways, which is the Hynome acrylic bar cart. So it's a gorgeous piece, a clear acrylic rolling serving or bar cart with wine rack and glass holder. This is an item that I would tuck into a corner. You could do a million things with it. You can put coffee table books on it. You can use it as a bar cart. You can use it as a tea cart. It could be outside, roll it outside for your guests in the summer or keep it inside. And everything that you place on it since it's, again, acrylic will almost be highlighted. It will just fade away, but it's purposeful. The price is amazing because acrylic furniture can really be expensive. You can create all these looks, you know, looking at my selections as inspiration. You'll know more what to search for, whether it's on Amazon or any other place that you might wanna look. - Well, I love about this item is that I think that some people might feel like a bar cart is like, oh, that's only if you have a very, very expensive home or if you're someone who's maybe older and this is sort of that look. But there's something about this that comes off very youthful, can go with, again, any decor, but I love that you're right. I mean, honestly, you could put kids stuff on here too if you're wheeling it outside and, you know, you could have a backyard barbecue with this at the same time, you could bring it in and have a cocktail party with it. And that's not something you can usually get. - Right, it's so versatile, you know? - Yeah. - And that's another thing that I'm looking for. Like, if you're gonna spend the money, I want it to be something that's interesting and versatile. And, you know, an item like this in a small apartment, even if you have just a beam in the way apartments are built, nowadays, especially in New York, sometimes all the inner workings end up in like a circular beam that, you know, like wiring for the apartment and all that stuff ends up in one sort of small area that you can't do anything with. You know, it seems awkward to have a piece of furniture there. And yet, this would be the perfect thing, just the right size. - A little camo for areas you might need to dress up. - Yeah, love it. - And it really doesn't have to be used as a bar. - Yeah, no, I mean, I'm serious when I say like, you could pull this out at a graduation party for high schoolers, you know, and have all kinds of different stuff on here. You could have it out with kids, you could have it for any occasion. I would definitely pull this out. I think it's fantastic. And like you said, extremely flexible with it. - I've heard from so many of you. Everyone is so buried and has different questions and different concerns. And I really try to put items in the store that serve everyone well, you know, both furniture items, soft, good items, like curtains and window treatments and linens. And you know how I don't care for trends that much, but a trend like an oversized big cable knit throw, those kinds of semi-decore and practical things, you know, that people might not think of great bookends, you know, not all frivolous stuff. That's the logic part of me. So. - I love that you want decor to be functional, though, because that's something that can be very challenging for a lot of people. They feel like decor just equals, you know, the pretty item, right? And then, but they don't think about, no, they can be very functional. Plus, since you are giving like your approval on all these things, I feel like all of us more tentative decorators out here who are just trying their best, you know, this is literally like having Beth come shopping with you and say, this is a cool thing. Everyone's going to think this is great in your home, you know, you can feel very confident about making a purchase like this. And there's even a 20 other coupon on it currently. - You can feel confident, but, you know, don't hate me if you want to return it. (laughs) - Hey, that's a good thing, too, though. Amazon, as opposed to many other places, are really easy about returns, as opposed to, you know, many other stores where you have to drag it out somewhere. - Exactly. I mean, I really think that the whole shopping process, the fact that you can see these items so enlarged because you're ordering them online. And they're so detailed, incredibly detailed, even in the names, you know, the names are so lengthy. - They're like a paragraph. - Right, but they're so detailed with every dimension. I mean, get your tape measures out because all the info is there, including, as I said before, whether it's an item that's four stars, five stars, there are reviews. I think one of the benefits is that you're getting like a little mini brochure, because if I print any of these items, it prints with 12 to 18 pages. - Yeah. - And I especially love how other shoppers can upload their pictures. - Right. - You can see how other people used it in their house. - It is storytelling. And what you can do is enlarge those pictures and see all the things I might have a problem with. Like, you know, if it's a chair, does the chair look like the pillows have to be adjusted? The seat cushion, you know, when you get up from it. All these little details that are sort of on my mind about each selection, I feel like I can mix it really quickly based on enlarging the pictures. - And I could see where like something like on set, especially, but just generally, things like the lockable wheels, that's such a huge deal that an actor isn't just like lean on it and rolls off, you know, like, it'd be really fresh, safety first. I love that kind of stuff. So I think that's fantastic, especially too. If you have it on a deck or something like that, I mean, the last thing you want your bar cart flying away from you, right, that's a disaster. So I also love that the dimensions, having it up in the actual title, so many times you have to go digging so deep that, you know, you might get distracted or something and you don't even realize you didn't get the product dimensions correct. This is great. It's right up front, right, easy for you to see, easy for you to go measure your space. - I would wait in the, I think I have eight groupings up right now and 20 to 30 items in each. I would wager, there's something for everyone. - I definitely agree with you. I think that there's absolutely, at all ages, at all stages of life, because, you know, some of us are transitioning, you know, apartments, some of us are in there forever home and there's all types of things here for you. - Certainly through my website, you can send me your questions and I'll special select something for you, you know, if you're looking for something specific. - Bula, la, you guys, Beth is a very busy lady so that is an amazing offer. - I do that because that's sort of always on the search. I mean, that's the set decorator creed. You know, I'm always looking at things. - Always looking. - And I feel like I'm pretty adapted, you know, a friend recently was asking me a few questions when it went from a sofa to a dining table. It's dining chairs. - Anyway, you know, I looked up and 45 minutes later, the whole apartment was done. - Oh my gosh, Beth, you're like a doctor. Like when someone comes over to you and you're like, do you know what this ranch is? Instead, they're like, do you know what I could do with my bedroom? - I love it, you're the answer lady. - Yeah, you are, absolutely. Beth, this has been such an amazing look into your style and your Amazon store. Listeners, there are many more groupings on Beth's Amazon store. Each with great items available for you to browse, just get inspiration or actually shop. So Beth, what do you consider when you're hand picking these items for your store? - Really uniqueness and yet dependability. Many of them are things people have asked me about in the past. I really appreciate high quality for the money, whether it's in fabric or, you know, and sort of unusual things, you know, Amazon has such interesting wall hanging, you know, that look like really expensive woven pieces. That, you know, if you have a big wall or if you're trying to hide something, you know, whether it's an electrical box or something like that. So I don't know, I look at all of these pieces as additions for character decor and as problem solvers. You know, I, it's just what I do, how my brain works. And I want people to have easy access. You know, it's so interesting that many stores now don't carry literal product, you know, they're like permanent showrooms. You know, you can go in, you can see wood grain samples, you can see color samples, but you can't leave the store with an end table. You know, I understand it. It's a concept that we don't wanna, you know, it's too expensive for us to carry inventory and brick and mortar stores or as we all know, disappearing. But this takes the concept of dupes to a higher level. It makes things accessible like that paper mache lamp that may not be accessible to everyone depending on where you live. But you can listen to us and, you know, we'll all find it for you. (laughs) - I think that's awesome. - It's a challenge. I wanna be challenged, someone sent me something that I can find. - That's amazing. You're a problem solver, Beth. You've always been a problem solver. So I think that's fantastic. And, you know, again, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Beth is adding items all the time. There's new things for you to check out. So please come back often and definitely check it out. You're so right about the instant gratification that you can't get anymore at going into a store that I think many of these items are coming the very next day. You could have them in your house literally tomorrow. So, I mean, that, that's amazing. 'Cause sometimes I just need that instant gratification. I need a little retail therapy. And they need it to happen now. - You know, it's hard and, you know, for $100, you can get some major happiness. - Yeah. And that's hard to do these days. So one more time, Beth, tell people how to get to your Amazon store. - Okay, head to amazon.com/shop/bethkishnik. Or click on the Amazon store link on my website, Bethkishnik.com. Or just Google BethKishnik Amazon store. And I hope you all find something that you like. Let me know. - I think I might buy this bar cart today. (laughing) I don't have a bar cart. I need a bar cart, y'all. - Okay, come back and tell us what how it was. - You know, I will, I'll maybe I'll make a video of myself wheeling it around and then locking the wheels. So there's none of these are welcome. - Absolutely, yeah. And please do come on to Beth's Amazon store. Please do review it. If you get these items, please come back. Let us know if you heard the podcast. If that's where you found this or how you found her store, tell us because we want to be able to find you guys and get you the information you need. Beth, I know you've got some new projects coming up. Tell us about those. - I do have a new project coming out in June. My first believe it or not after all these years, reality show of which I learned a lot and it's a different kind of shoot than I'm used to. It's the Nelly and Ashaki. We belong together, reality show on Pika. - To me, like when I think about you Beth and I think about all the different things you've done, this seems like challenging but also amazing. Like you've really like stepped into a whole different realm. It's been so nice to do all these sort of pivots and goes back to my theory, just say yes, say yes, I'm available for everything. And that kind of work really comes with a lot of different issues that all are involved in the business. But I think it's pretty great that after all my years of doing this, I can walk away from a project saying I really learned something new. - And then you come teach us? - Listen, I want everyone to leave me messages. I get so happy when you subscribe on my website or I see a new message from someone. It's wonderful. All you have to do is go to BethKrishnik.com or Instagram, which is @BethKrishnik. And we really want to start reading them on the air. And remember, I'm the decorator by your side. If you have any questions, send photos, send questions and I'll definitely get back to you. Listeners, this is amazing access to a decorator who is so accomplished that I mean, to be able to reach out and get direct contact with her and get any type of answers that you need, please take advantage of this opportunity.
